Speaker 1 (00:00):
Progressive presents forest metaphors about bundling your homon auto in sports.
Three goals is a hat trick, and when you bundle
your home and auto with Progressive, you get a hat
trick of great savings and around the clock protection. So
you might be thinking, wait, that's two things. A hat
trick is three, But in this metaphor, great savings counts
as two goals, and so does around the clock protection,
so it's like four goals, and that's more than three.

(00:22):
It's basic math. Forest metaphors by Progressive Bundle and protect today,
Progressive centulty in Trance Company, and ifially get discount of
the little in all states or situations, look for your
children's eyes and you will discover the two magic of
a forest. Find a forest near you and start exploring it.
Discover the Forest dot org brought to you by the

United States Forest Service and the AD Council. We've all
felt left out, and for people who moved to this country,
that feeling lasts more than a moment. We can change that.

Sports Prey Locked and loaded ready with you here on
a beautiful Sunday morning, Mike Carmen alongside the all American,
the King of the Mammals, three time pro bowler, number
one in your hearts. He's I got LaVar Anton. What's up? Baby?
Fired up? On a a beautiful Sunday morning. So much

(01:24):
swirling about the great sports universe, final day of the Masters.
We got all sorts of NBA action, lot of stories
to cover throughout the day, potential new ownership in the
National Basketball Association. Hey, if first you don't succeed, try
try again, as they say, uh some draft talk of course,

(01:45):
and then I'm just gonna celebrate the greatness that was
WrestleMania Night one. Throughout the show. I've done all all
I can in the the wee hours of the night
to try to contact anybody of consequence in the w W.
We'll see if any of them awake from whatever stupid
they're in. After celebrating Night one with a crowd in attendance,
uh and title changes and everything else, LaVar I was

(02:06):
like a little kid again. It was one of those weeks.
WrestleMania is just always one of those deals. It just
makes you happy, man, you know, it's it's the it's
the main event. You get to see the greatness of
old talent and and established stars while you see new
talent and up and coming um new people. I mean

(02:30):
the girls deal the lady. That match was insane, I
mean unbelievable. So it's just kind of like one of
those things where you know, it's always that age old debate,
how real is it? How fake is it? Like you know,
what's coreographed? Like who cares? Just be entertained even if
it isn't. There are a number of moments where, sitting

(02:52):
on my couch, I started moving up going that that
that's not good Shane coming off the top of the cage.
Then you talk about Bianca bell Air winning the title
over Sasha Banks and she pressed, slammed her and carried
her around the ring. I'm like, I need weightlifting tips
from Bianca bell Air. I mean that was stamina that

(03:12):
nobody's showing in their pro day LaVar. Yeah, yeah, you
know the idea of it is is I know I
saw those guys um at the rehab facilities for knees
and shoulders and elbows and fingers and risks, the same
injuries we were getting in other sports. So much respect

(03:34):
out to the w w E, the pro wrestlers, all
the guys out there that represent UM the brand super dope.
You know, I've always been. When I was younger, I
was more of a Mark Mike, but but nowadays it's
it's like kind of more or less like I casually
will check it out. Oh you check in every now
and again. It's like it's like a lot of things

(03:54):
over the last year as we're trying to get to
those final stages of the the COVID shut downs and
get things back and reopened. Uh. Not to belabor the point,
I got my shot. I will tell you this, Um,
it's potent. Uh so so to that end, but you know,
you've got WrestleMania. We're talking about the n C Double

(04:15):
A Men's and Women's Championships. You saw Baylor, you know
that was the rock, just you know, kicking tail from
pillar to post. Uh. And then you have the women's
game last Sunday night. You know, with a shot uh
in the final seconds that goes awry. I still have
questions about the play because you had two or three people.
I know, McDonald's your score, but you got folks wave

(04:35):
in their hand going I'm open. Uh. It was like
they were in a pickup game and she didn't look
their way. But that's the way it goes. We still
celebrated coach and their accomplishments because it was a big
deal for Arizona. We got the Masters. As I said,
you got Hideki Matsuyama on top of the leader board
here with a couple stroke lead. Um several golfers including

(04:57):
Xander Shoflely uh for we're strokes back so uh for
reference at eleven under right now. Matsyama last year was
tied for thirteen and he was eight under. To show
you where the scores were a year ago. Uh, Look,
they announced yesterday WrestleMania next year is in Dallas. I
went to the last one in Dallas at Jerry's Palace.

(05:19):
Let me tell you, uh that that's some good travel
if you if you want to go have some fun.
Otherwise in two years it's here in l A. It
was a little salty that they shuffled it up, but pandemic,
whatever you're gonna do, you had to have it in
Florida before you moved on. But talk about theatrics and
special accomplishments. You went undefeated didn't you. I did, you

(05:39):
finished it off. LaVar High School football shortened season, but
the fact that you got a season in was was
a blessing. And I was excited. You know, I think
the guys were excited. I think this is a great
group of guys that I have. UM, still a lot
of work to do, still a lot of building, and

(05:59):
the some great families too to come in and bolster
and build what we have. UM. But I mean it's
it's a I'm starting to see my personality um in
the in the guys that that I'm coaching, and that
that's that's really cool because they say, you know, you

(06:21):
start UM. And and I love my guys, the the
guys that I came in with and that I inherited.
I love them, UM still love them. UM. But it's
it's like, you know, you have to work through an
established culture and and you have to build your own culture,

(06:42):
your own identity. And this is the first group where
I can see um my characteristic traits, you know, my
my my um my approach, just my mentality. UM. It
reigns supreme through with this group of guys. So it's
kind of like for me, it was it wasn't just

(07:05):
cool to see them going. Defeed it because we had
to win two of those games. I mean we had
to win all of them, um, and and and and
when I say we had to win them, it was
like these young men were playing over their heads to
be able to beat us. And and obviously Achille Smith

(07:25):
being an assistant co co head coach and offensive coordinator.
What an amazing, brilliant football mine, Mike, Like, I was
blown away by the way he he called games, um
s because we're gonna talk about that throughout the shows.
That interesting. It's how long you are having for His

(07:48):
son is coming into high school and he's also a quarterback.
I think he's like six three already, Um, in the
eighth grade. My son, I well, my at six too,
and he's coming in as a as a freshman next
year too, So we're you know, we got to two
d n A two legacy guys coming in next year.

(08:11):
So it's it was good Mike, that's beautiful. And you
know the first time I met your son, I swore
he was eighteen until we started talking about things. He's
into I'm like, all right, you're not there yet, um,
but like overnight, man. But that's just it right, has
that switch. I never went and went taller. I just
got wider, uh and and and as I got older,

(08:31):
not in a good way. But the road to Swoll
begins here on Fox Sports Radio at Lavarrington, on Twitter
at King of the Mammals, on Instagram, find me over
at swollen Um. I'd be remiss if we didn't at
least spend a minute on the fact that there were
no charges that came out of the Tiger Woods uh
incidents here in southern California. And I and I know, uh,

(08:53):
it's a couple of days old, but his absence at
the Masters is is always going to be noted because
why you run highlight videos of him from the last
quarter century and every time, Oh, there's no question that
that's that's it. So I'll be curious, and like TV ratings,

(09:13):
you take them with a grain of salt, right, the
ev and the flow and and the change of how
people consume their information data. Man, even last night I
was watching Wrestlemany alive, but they were putting stuff up
pretty shortly thereafter, little clips, little teases. We see that
with the NBA all the time, and more and more,
even yesterday the Women's national team played a match against

(09:37):
Sweden tested down one nil. I would say this, I
raised my hand to our Fox colleagues like they were
down one nil, and it was they were signaling the death.
Now it's like, well, here's what we take out of it,
Like there's still time left. This is a great team.
And how about you know, crediting Sweden for the eighty
five minutes they played. But either way equalizer from Megan Rapino.

(09:59):
But as soon as big plays happened in that game,
near misss or the equalizing penalty shot goal, uh, they
were up. So you can watch different ways. And so
until we figure out how to truly capture all that data,
I just kind of shrug when we get into two
ratings fun. But we do know that Tiger stirs the drink.
And from the last report LaVar that came out, Uh,

(10:21):
he was going forty miles over the speed limit and
didn't think he was in California when he talked to
the officer. Oh well, I'm sure we've all had those
moments where we thought we were somewhere else. Maybe Tiajuana
um never have never been. You'll have to uh give me,
uh users guide. Maybe that's what we do. We do

(10:43):
the you know, instead of all those tourism guides that
you can buy, now we do the LaVar Arrington places
I've been, things I've done. The name is protected that
we could do that. But I'll tell you, you know,
anytime you have those type of situations, I mean, you
gotta pay attention man, and and the reason why you

(11:04):
gotta pay attention, like like shots out and and and
thoughts and prayers to the family of d M. Max
and and in his passing. But and you look at
the guy that that played in the NFL and and
ended up taking the lives of the practice to two people,
and the couple and the practice and family members and employees.

(11:29):
You have to pay attention to what people signs and
symptoms are. And right now, it seems like every single
time we we see something that happens with Tiger Woods,
it has possible catastrophe or um you know, like it's

(11:50):
on the edge. It's something that you needed to pay
attention to because the pattern of it says that you know,
this could be a cry for help, or this could
be a a possible you know, attempt to escape whatever
it is that is plaguing him or or what is

(12:11):
impacting him. You know, I watched that that uh, that
documentary on him, and to really sit back and take
in the magnitude of what Tiger Woods has had to
I'll say endure to to be that. Well, let's start

(12:32):
with become to become Tiger Woods, to be Tiger Woods,
and then to deal with where is Tiger Woods right now?
You know, he's had to deal with all of the
all of these emotional physical roller coasters, and and if

(12:55):
you're not paying attention every single time something happens with him,
it's very, very like it's like a vulnerable moment for him,
Like it's it's a you know, it's just it just
makes it it sounds like he needs help, you know.
And and I don't know how many people are talking

(13:16):
about it. I don't know what the narrative is, but
it just always when you pay attention to things like
this and there's no action that takes place, it leads
to tragic ends. And that's a sad reality that we're
dealing with right now with DMX, is that you you
saw a pattern of how things were, you saw you

(13:39):
know that there was things that could be destructive to
you know, to him personally. And you know, I would
say this isn't far off from that if if you
ask me my opinion. And that's just that's coming from
a former athlete, It's coming from someone who cares. It's

(14:00):
coming from someone who you know in a moment of vulnerability. Uh.
I have my own moments, you know, you have your
own moments where you visit dark places and and you
have to be able to two you know, have conversations
with yourself, and you have to be you know, open
enough to have conversations with others because some people can

(14:23):
give you different perspective that can can actually help you
in these moments. So I hope whatever it is that
Tiger Woods had going on, maybe he had a serious
concussion and just didn't know where he was at. It
could have been the brunt of the impact. Um. I
think most people have sped um have gone over to

(14:44):
speed limit. I'm I'm sure a lot of people have
gone forty miles per hour over a speed limit. You know,
I don't know, but I will say I do feel
as though there is a pattern there, and and I
just hope that you know, he's okay, and if he
needs help, that he gets the help. He needs absolutely.
I mean you talk about being in a fish bowl, right,

(15:05):
early success, early expectations, and then for him with the
number of surgeries and other things that have befallen his
career this last decade plus. There there was just the
assumption he was climbing that mountain and he was gonna
build on top of it. Right. This wasn't just hey,
I'm getting past Jack. I'm also building a big mansion

(15:25):
up there with a couple of levels for folks to
try to climb past me. So you know that all
plays in you You talk about Philip Adams killing five
people and then himself his brain will be tested for CTE,
and you know sometimes that that gets too uh, it's
it's too easily dismissed to that, like we we still

(15:47):
have so much in the research I think to talk
about as well as just going into as you said,
you know, at Philip Adams and connecting the dots. I know,
my daughters know as soon as I'm quiet for more
than five minutes, that may be I've I've taken a
tour down to two dark avenues and so they picked
me up. And I'd be remiss also if to not
just mention our got Jay Glazer talks openly about this

(16:10):
mental health. You know, he runs a gym out here
in Los Angeles, all excited to be back in. It's
got a lot of former combat vets, former athletes, uh
still athletes, right, guys that are that are and women
that are still getting after it. But they need that camaraderie.
And they just got approved to where they can have
a therapist, you know, as part of their staff. Right.
He announced that a little bit with us on Fox

(16:32):
Sports Radio over the course of the week. So just
one of those reminders, you know, there's always something else
that we don't know for this. You know, it seemed
like just a traffic accident, and you wonder, well, why
no ticket. You'll like to find people for everything else
they decided not to hear. I will tell you this though, LaVar.
We we play a lot of soccer games in that

(16:52):
area where the accident occurred, and I think I've driven
probably past the accident site, you know, no fewer than
a dozen times in the in the last two to
three weeks. But what with traffic starting to get back up,
and there's a stretch where you've got a bunch of
stop signs and it slows down. My daughter and I
always kind of chuckle when you see a Lamborghini or

(17:16):
Maserati or any of those things just sitting in bumper
to bumper traffic. That's a lot of waste of money
on that car. In the dad, I'm like, good teaching
me young, it's a lot of wasted gas I had.
I had all kinds of gas guzzlers when I first
came out to California. All gone, every last one of them.
You learn as you go, right, especially when we're talking

(17:36):
about the distances and just sitting in traffic for two
hours at a time. We'll find out Lamar's key. What
do you got? You got a fusion name. Now I
get a lot of gas mallage out of that, bad boy.
I want to see you drive around in Hartman's smart car. Yeah,
that's too small. I thought about getting one while I
was still in DC, but it's a little too small.

(17:58):
I just thought it would be a comedic kind of element.
It would be pretty clownish. Do you make fun of
me for the size of my car? There you got,
I'm gonna go all Simpsons At twenty after six on
a Sunday morning, my car alongside the All American. It's
my guy, LaVar Arrington. We're just getting warmed up here
on Fox Sports Radio. Not to take too deep dark,
you know, serious tone, but I mean that's that's a

(18:19):
story that warrants it. And you know, you're always just
trying to look out. And you know, as we've said
for the past year plus that we've been doing the
show together, make sure you call and reach out. It's
baseball season. If nothing else, you can make fun of
your friends teams. Okay, I gotta check in, man. No,
you just never know where people are. Yeah, that call
could could turn the day around, could you know, on
the road back to greatness, and talking about that we talk.

(18:43):
I'm great, buddy. I appreciate your buddy. No, that's good
talking about redemption stories. A guy ostra sized. Now he
wants to buy an NBA franchise and people are mad.
We'll tell him to calm down like Taylor Swiftwood. Next
you're on Fox, it's finally here. The Big Gang and

Us Kids, brought to you by the U. S Department

Radio Fox Sports Sunday, Mike Carmen alongside LaVar Arrington here
with you d MX the soundtrack Too Many Uh well,
drive rounds and warm ups for practices and games, no doubt,

(21:15):
all these years. So we'll hear that throughout the show
as we commemorate life and and all of those little
vignettes that have popped up, LaVar, you want to talk
about all these these things that humanized him on a
whole other level, you know, the clips with his daughter,
the here's you know, dancing at weddings and learning different

(21:36):
customs and and all these things. Just it's always sad
that we do that after someone's gone, but certainly, you know,
perhaps given a little different side to the man. Well,
those who paid attention knew that he was a very
very dynamic person, tormented in a lot of ways. Um

(22:02):
dealt with a lot of of of things, and he
was very vulnerable and in talking about and discussing those things.
And and one of you know, his interviews where he
talked about how one of the guys he trusted the most,
you know, tricked him into you know, substance abuse, you know,
smoking basically smoking crack. Um. He's just you know, he's

(22:25):
one of those He's one of those timeless type of
talents where you can play his music any year. It
could be twenty years ago. It could be today, it
will be twenty years from now. His music will still resonate,
his words will still resonate. So it's it's you know,
at this point, Mike, I'm I'm to the point now

(22:48):
where at at my age, I you know, it gets
cliche to say what a you know, a tremendous loss,
and you know he's gone too soon. But you know,
the more you live life, the more or you realize
that there are more people that are out there dealing
with these type of issues and what people would perceive

(23:09):
as you know, you call them demons, you know, um
figuratively speaking. Uh. You just when you're you know, when
when you have to deal with with life's challenges and
life's issues, you gotta have your hard hat and you
have to have your lunch pail because it's it gets

(23:29):
very real. So it's sad that you know that it
ended the way that it did for d M. Max.
But I will say he did live. He did impact
a lot of people. He did influence an entire music
and industry. I mean, at one point in time, dal
Max was probably regarded as one of the best artists

(23:50):
you know, in the game, and that was at the
height of of jay z Um being out and and
you know, you could go either way and say I
like DMX better or I like jay z better at
one point in time. So he left his mark and
and and for what it's worth, if you're going to
have a tragic end um due to you know, just

(24:13):
dealing with you know, self issues and different things like that,
I mean, I guess at the least, Mike, at least
he left a legacy and a mark that that will
live on beyond you know, his days here, there's no question.
And you know, we always switched to holiday music here
for a good month at the end of the year
at Fox Sports Radio. I don't know that over the

(24:34):
last five years I've played anything on our shows more
than his rendition of Rudolph the Red Dose r It's
pretty funny. So one of our favorites, no question about it.
We're gonna talk about Alex Rodriguez. He wants to join
a big boys club. He tried once was rebuffed, but
this one, there's the circumstances are much different. So let's

(24:55):
go over to Ilo first and find out what's happening
in our beauty sporting universe. What's going on Morning Michael,
Good morning, Lavarre. The unexpected happened on Saturday night in
the NBA as the shorthanded, really shorthanded Los Angeles Lakers.
No Lebron James, no Anthony Davis, no Kyle Kuzma, no

(25:16):
Marcusol no Wesley Matthews, no Magic, no Kareem, no Chickern
they all no bloody, no Sedale threats nice. We could
go on and on. I well, that takes it to him.
Hold on what I did? They're boom, no qualm a

(25:37):
brown Slava Medvedenko. That's a good name, and good night.
Everyone shows over. We ran out of time. They were
all of them, without them, they wanted Brooklyn one one
oh one. The Nets shorthanded as well, not as shorthanded.
James Hardennett with a strained right hamstring, and Kyrie Irving
was ejected from the proceedings after an altercation with the

(25:59):
Lakers Dennish Reuter in the third quarter. He was also ejected.
So who led the Lakers in their twenty five point
victory last night at Brooklyn? It was a couple of newcomers.
Andre Drummond twenty points and eleven rebounds, Ben McLemore seventeen
points and five three point? Who was that? He's out
of Seattle. Oh, I see what you did there, very

(26:21):
good a part of the twelve, No question, that's right.
I thought you were going to make another homage, not
only to him, but another McLemore, former Major League baseball slugger,
Mark McLemore. Relatively speaking, I was gonna say that was
that's a little bit of a stretch there with the
with the Baltimore Orioles. I guess in this case slugger
refers to non picture. I think that's the basic we're

(26:44):
calling a child slugger. Yes, Unfortunately, you couldn't call me
that during my non distinguished little league career when the
opposing chant of the team that we were facing would
be moving everyone lowen crawns up. That's that's where I
would have been going with the elbow out like I

(27:05):
was a met retired after t ball. That was his last,
his last go at it, and then next spring he
issued the facts that sent him back right, because we
didn't have the internet back then. Also on Saturday at
the Utah Jazz got forty two from Donovan Mitchell and
the victory over Sacramento. The Jazz has one twenty four

(27:27):
in a row at home there forty and thirteen overall.
Break up the Phoenix Suns. They're now thirty seven and fifteen.
Maybe in Washington by and in his cantor had a
Portland's record thirty rebounds, a franchise record thirty rebounds, and
his cancer also with twenty four points and their win
over the Detroit Pistons. Golf going to the final round

(27:48):
of the Master's Hideki matsu Yama as a four shot
lead at eleven under par overall. He will tee off
the final round at Augusta today at two forty pm
Eastern Time. Now back to Michael Harmon and this man.
I'm gonna get me some every day LaVar Arrington all
day every day that I was up for sound. I'm

(28:10):
sure there's a lot of other stuff. We gotta find
some other clips to bring in Ilo. That was actually
a LaVar before today's show as he was prepared. That
was not on an NFL sideline. He was actually miked
up by our crew before today's show. And it shows
you how motivated he was beyond today. I'm gonna get
me something now, don't don't we got four hours. I'm

(28:31):
gonna get me something today had a take that's gone viral. Uh.
They need to do a better job of mentioning the
places you work. So I've said a scathing emailed all
of them. It's like, if you're gonna do this, let's
do this right and get proper attribution to where you
can find the works and the dulci like Rodney danger

(28:54):
Field a radio man. It's all right and well, but
they did. But they did dial up the three time
pro bowler and all of those things. But but you know,
if I wasn't in media, they wouldn't be able to
say three time pro bowler said, you know what I mean,
I wouldn't just randomly doing that interviews. I was giving it.
I was given analysis, you know, I was giving breakdowns

(29:16):
a study for that you know I got. I mean,
I'm telling you I've been I've been told I need
to go check into um A A or or to
you know, to some some type of intervention needed to
take place. I was told I'm I'm a crack user.
Um what else? Uh? Just for suggesting Bill Belichick. Uh yeah,

(29:42):
well we'll talk about that a little later on in
the show, because and it it got a lot of run.
We gotta make sure we we hashed that out here
on Fox Sports Radio. You're on FS one earlier in
the week. You gotta speak for yourself, and of course
up on Game ten am de noon every Saturday. Here
you find the podcast out podcast, google play, wherever you
get your audio story. I want to weave in throughout

(30:04):
the show as a man who's got great ambition, right,
I'm talking about myself, uh now as well as you. Uh,
you know the there's there's not just one thing. You're
a man of many interests, and we're watching a former
major league slugger who had his issues, and certainly Alex Rodriguez.

(30:24):
We know the redemption story, the Long Road from bio Genesis,
the two thousand seven juiced book from jose Can sake.
We gotta find him one one Sunday morning and just
let him rant about UFOs and stuff. But but all
of that stuff uh pushed to the wayside. Earlier this year,
he was part of a group including j Lo uh

(30:45):
and some others trying to buy the Mets. In the
end they go, Steve Cohen buys them. He's on Twitter. Uh,
they've had some scandal, but they're they're moving in. You
know and and trying to build their their new franchise.
So rebuffed by Major League Baseball. Why, well, that would
make sense. Well, because they knew that they were going
to part ways. They didn't want to bring that drum

(31:06):
into now. Well but well wow calling well, I mean, look,
we we've we've pronounced the dead a couple of weeks ago.
I mean, there were reports and then the next day
they said, we're working through it. Leave us alone. Either way,
this this latest bid to buy a major sports franchise,
doesn't appear to include any of Jennifer Lopez's money. It's

(31:29):
just Alex Rodriguez and Mark Lorii, uh, president and CEO
of Walmart's e commerce site for years. Uh. So they're
they're bringing money to the table, and they've allegedly reportedly
found themselves into a deal here with t Wolves and
Links majority owner Glenn Taylor, with the asking price expected

(31:51):
to be about one point five billion dollars of our
To put it in perspective, in four Taylor, who's now
seventy nine years old, Uh, he bought the team for
eighty eight million dollars. To show you the growth and expansion,
a little bit of growth of the NBA. We're talking
eight team times on your money over you know, twenty

(32:14):
six years. Obviously they had the fun run with Kevin Garnett,
Tom Googliata and Stefan Marbury, which will all remember I
had a guy that I met who was doing trade
in Minnesota. Yeah, so you had those guys were your
your backbone for a bit, but it kept them from

(32:35):
leaving for New Orleans. Now we know New Orleans has
a team. Uh, and zi and Williamson will get into
him a little bit because there's some fun developments with
how he's being used and potentially terrifying for opponents. Uh.
If you've watched a bit of Zion Williamson you'll know
what I mean. But folks getting outrage going, oh, this
guy is a liar and a thief whatever it's like,

(32:55):
unless he's got to sign a blood oath. Because this
is where it really gets it gets real, is that
he may take the team after two years. Taylor will
own it for another two years and then they'll take
full control. Under the details that have been released thus far,
and the expectation is that he'll keep the team in Minnesota.

(33:16):
Well unless that's in the you know contract and as
we know contracts can always be broken, uh, and you
can always pay out the city for any money uh
that you still owe them for facilities and all of
those things. Uh that Seattle or Las Vegas are certainly
on the table of Hey, we'd love to keep expanding
eventually in the NBA or to relocate. So it becomes

(33:40):
a curiosity in that form because people just want to
immediately say, Alex Rodriguez is gonna steal our team and
he's going to move it. And if the business says
that that's the move, I'm sorry, folks, happen, it'll happen again.
And you know what that we've had twenty six years here,
there's been one playoff run, so and it's it doesn't

(34:02):
mean folks don't go to the center. It was the
target Center. I don't know that it still is, uh
and pack it in, but it's if it's better for
the business of the NBA to move it. You don't
don't tell me. Those guys aren't all getting in the
room and with Genie Buss and everybody else going yep,
move it. There was a there was a team in Dallas,
a football team NFL or Pro team in Dallas before

(34:25):
Dallas Cowboys, and it's a it's a current team. Off
the top of my head, I don't remember, but I
was looking at that. I was like, dang, there was
a team in Dallas that moved. I think about that.
That's like now, probably the hottest is that is I
don't know if they're the number one Are they the
number one rated uh pro football franchise? Yeah, because they

(34:50):
also have a bunch of deals that allow them to
profit outside of the normal NFL rules that govern them.
They're kind of like Northwestern with the Big Ten. They've
got their their own licensing contracts and stuff. Well I'm
just I'm just calling look again, we're just just big
and successful and dominant. It was Lamar Hunt wanted to

(35:12):
the So it's Kansas City, Kansas City. There it is
the Texans and then later the Chiefs. Isn't that crazy?
Like the first team, the Dallas Steers, they were there
and they left the market. The point of the conversation
is at that point in time, maybe they did not
see the value and what the market was providing for

(35:35):
their team and they went and looked for greener pastors.
So it happens. I mean the Lakers, I believe the
Lakers started off in Minnesota, which is why they're still
the Lakers. Right, How are you right? You're in Los
Angeles and you're like, all right, there's lakes in Los Angeles,

(35:56):
the Jazz there, you go. Come on, man, You're gonna
go where the opportunity provides the most opportunity, and and
that's you know, that's what it is. So I don't
think that people need to take like this hardline stance
against a Rod because a Rod may eventually do that.
I mean, let's see if he gets the team first.

(36:16):
I mean, Secondly, the Timberwolves have not been a relevant franchise,
so him purchasing the team makes them relevant immediately. Um,
it gives them some some you know, visibility that they
don't have. Nobody cares about the Minnesota Timberwolves. This is
absolutely I'm just being honest. No, I mean, look, every

(36:37):
once in a while, there's that that draft pick that's
splashy and that we get excited about, but then it's
a matter of can you build around Right, we watched,
you know, for for years as they they've had one
player after the next because they're always drafting in the
top of the charts and this past year, you got
Anthony Edwards who's acquitted himself pretty well through the first

(36:59):
three quarters of a rookie season. So we'll we'll see
what what happens going forward. Regular season average about eighteen
points a games, so, uh, certainly something they could piece
with Stephen Alberry and KG there and them dudes left.
I'm just saying, maybe it might be a time for
some change of scenery, change of blood, change of scenery,

(37:22):
change of ownership. Change the ownership didn't change, change then, yeah, well,
I mean and you look at it, I mean to
you know, Taylor almost sold off, you know, just in
the last couple of years, and instead, you know, you
have the change in Utah. So it comes back to
Utah and Utah dominating. I don't think I get talked
about enough here on I've been ringing their championship bell

(37:46):
for you know, they don't get enough respect. And we'll continue, well,
we'll continue to trumpet that because you know me, I
I was all over the Phoenix Suns early and you know,
here's my requisite eight seconds of envy Pete talk, Chris Paul, Uh,
there you go, everybody else that's jumped on board my bandwagon,
it's a good thing. I got a nice sturdy base.

(38:07):
That's all I got to say about that. He's Lavars
and I might darm at this. Well, I'll just call
what it is. Uh Fox Sports Sunday. We're getting after
it here. We're just getting warmed up holding a second
pro day pros cons or is it just saying hey,
remember me, we'll talk about that next year on Fox.

(38:28):
Progressive presents forest metaphors about bundling your homon, auto and sports.
Three goals is a hat trick, And when you bundle
your home and auto with Progressive, you get a hat
trick of great savings and around the clock protection. So
you might be thinking, wait, that's two things. A hat
trick is three. But in this metaphor, great savings counts
as two goals, and so does a round the clock protection.
So it's like four goals and that's more than three.

(38:50):
It's basic math. Forest metaphors. Progressive bundle and protect today,
Progressive centulty in Trance Company. And ifially get discount of
a little in all states or situations, what growth in
the forest trees? Sure you know what else grows in
the forest, our imagination, our sense of wonder and our
family bonds grow too, because when we disconnect from this

(39:12):
and connect with this, we reconnect with each other. The
forest is closer than you think. Find a forest near
you and start exploring. I Discover the Forest dot Org.
Brought to you by the United States Forest Service and
the AD Council. Welcome back in It's Fox Sports Radio,
Fox Sports Sunday. Mike Carmen alongside the greatness that is

(39:34):
three time Pro Bowler All American my guy LaVar Arrington.
As everyone. Yeah body, yeah, sun started to creep up
here in southern California. Yeah yeah, yeah, there you go.
You can have those beats behind you all day long.
And I mean you want to talk about stealing energy

(39:56):
from from a music track, man, That's that's what you do.
And that's it. You want to start getting yourself ready
because we're getting back into the Gym's talking about the
road to swall man, starting to get that back. It's
really bad too. Time time to get back in the gym.
Start throwing plates around, I mean, you know, responsibly. Of course,

(40:23):
reports came out that Trey Lance is going to have
himself another pro day, the North Dakota State Bison quarterback,
and only got one game. Uh, you know in his
his last season fifteen and thirty two touchdowns and interception. Uh,
we don't have a lot of tape. And if you're
you're kidding yourself. If you went back, you said you

(40:43):
went back and watched a lot of twenty nineteen North
Dakota State action. So what you've seen is a highlight
reel of some big throws and some opportunities for him downfield.
And then the questions always come in competition and what
he's faced. And then certainly without a lot of game
reps here of late, which is great, you know in

(41:06):
terms of wear and tear. You know, we always talk
about guys taking a bunch of hits, but he certainly
didn't do that. But to have a second pro day,
I think it's the raising of the hand going, hey,
you want to get all excited about mac Jones. We've
talked a lot about Justin Fields. I think you and
I are in lockstep of well, what what's what's wrong
with him? Other than we knew who he was? Uh?

(41:26):
And he's not the shiny new object, right. I mean,
I think that's the thing that kills Justin Fields is
that you saw him every Saturday in the highlight reels
and everything else, Trevor Lawrence every Saturday. Correct, well, but
he's the chosen one. Did you not know this? You
want as well? Cut you do the super cut of
you and McGregor yelling to Hayden. Christian said you it's

(41:48):
about to see that child said wide that. That's truly
all we got with Trevor Lawrence. He's unassailable, he's bullet proof,
he's Tehlon for most. For me, I keep raising my
hand going, I mean, I'm happy for him. You know,
it's nice to be in that bubble at least for
a minute. Right, Yeah, man, listen for trade Lands. It's

(42:11):
very simple the reason why he's doing it. And you
may mention of it. You know, not very many reps,
not not very much film, but yet highly touted and
and so you know, when you're looking at this draft,
everybody's talking about San Francisco, and San Francisco was not

(42:32):
at his his first at his first work workout, but
it is it has been reported that they are planning
on being at this one. So that says to me
that just that kind of reeks of somebody is doing
the best that they possibly can to position Uh, you know,

(42:53):
tray trade lands to be um in the mix to
get that that second or third pick, you know. And
and again some people would say missing New York and
making it to San Francisco is the better play. I
would tend to agree with that, There's no question about it. Absolutely.

(43:14):
But I will say this though, the DNA of that
offense is probably going to end up being the DNA
of the New York Jets offense um because salah Um
left left uh San Francisco and and went there to
to coach New York. So I don't necessarily think that

(43:35):
it's a it's a horrible thing to end up in
New York. But I think definitely the value of Trey
Lance wanting to do this workout again was something that
was carefully orchestrated and put together so that the forty
Niners could get a chance to see him. Yeah, and
if nothing else, you create more subterfuge and plotlines right

(43:56):
to kind of miss mask what you're really trying to
put together here, right, Because you know, we talked. Nick
Saban was doing an interview the other day with Dan Patrick,
kind of talking about how strange some of the interaction
has been with San Francisco Brass as well. Uh during
this period, so we'll we'll see it's uh, it's a
lot of theater and drama. Later on in the show,

(44:17):
we'll talk about Atlanta because they hold it all sitting
there at the number four spot. Coming up next, we
get into the beat down of the night, the Curious Lakers,
the Behemoth Nets. Next on Fox, let's go our two
of the program Fox Sports Sunday, Mike Carmen alongside pro
bowler three times the All American can't get the mammals himself.

(44:39):
It's our guy, LaVar Arrington. Hey, buddy, what what big
Sunday wherever you're at? So much on the sporting calendar,
Final round of the Masters as we anxiously await that
day two of WrestleMania, and I retweeted, what what might
be the greatest tweet that I've seen today? LaVar Rick

(45:02):
Pettino asking if it's not like the greatest son sports
day ever when you've got the final round of the
Masters into WrestleMania, and I too, Uh, okay, I just
thought it was kind of funny that Rick Pottino would
put that output, you know, greatest sports day of the year.
Question Mark I feel good about Rick Pettino's judgment. Hey,

(45:23):
you know it's not right here. Well, no, his judgment
and other spots has been Uh. He can coach though, Man,
he can coach. Yeah, and we'll leave it at that,
you know, family show Sunday morning. Uh, and we'll gonna
laugh along. We'll keep an eye on the masters like sports, yes,

(45:45):
and Italian restaurants and yeah, bottle of red, bottle of white,
no question about it. Mama, Mazza Yama, get that name right. Uh,
he's minus one twenty as he's got a four stroke
lead entering the final own to play Xander Shuffley at
plus five hundred. Uh, the next in your betting window. Why,

(46:06):
because I gotta turn everything into wagering. Uh. If you're
going to watch it casually, I want to. I have
a little juice, uh to go with it. And certainly
here in Los Angeles, everybody still buzzing after the ring
ceremony for the Dodgers was talking with our executive producer
Bow Benson. Always thanks to him and Chris Perfett and
Isaac Lowan Cron making a sound so pretty here on

(46:28):
a Sunday morning, they released the did you see the
gold trim jerseys and hats that they released. Tell you
what some pretty special merch going on there, pretty special
price to go with it. Uh So I'm gonna put
a little box out out front of the studio saying
we need Jersey's help us out, uh as it were.

(46:48):
But it's still buzzing off of that. But there's been
a lot of handwringing about what's going on with the
Los Angeles Lakers on the other side, right because you
don't have your stars back. And one of the great
debates of the last couple of weeks as this whole
buyout stuff, is it fair? You know what be better?
Be a destination, become a destination that someone wants to go,

(47:09):
uh play where where they want to go continue their careers. Uh,
stop crying to me that people want to go to
Los Angeles Brooklyn and teams that are winning, go figure.
Guys want to win while getting paid handsomely. It seems
like those two things go lockstep. And and that you know,
anybody decrying the system, your your team just needs to
be better, better marketed, better drafting and and try to

(47:33):
become a better, better part. And we always have to
remember this in in terms of sports markets. It's it
is a television show, right, it is entertainment, and guys
are trying to maximize their earnings so they can go
Alex Rodriguez and eventually buy a team or whenever they
want to get into down the road. You know how
you help that you win a title, so you show

(47:56):
up on these So yesterday, still waiting for Anthony Davis
and Lebron James to come back into the mix, we
had Lebron James with the not so cryptic i G
post of you know, the storms coming on the horizon
or whatever else. That his timeline for return, as you know,
just in the next two three weeks and then in
the next ten to fourteen days. In theory, Anthony Davis

(48:18):
will come back. We've traversed that road a lot here
on the show. But then they go out and not
only do they continue their streak of getting guys thrown out,
they absolutely throttle the Brooklyn Nets. Uh you know, one six,
one oh one, laugher, We got more guys kicked out.
Kyrie Irving got kicked out, played twenty one minutes. He

(48:39):
had zero assists at the time of his departure. That's
always a curiosity to me, Uh, when guys, he's six
of eleven from the field, eighteen points, four boards, minus
three in the plus minus. But you're assist leader on
Saturday night was Kevin Durant. We'll get more on him
about an hour from now. But you saw the Lakers
good balance they and eight players in double figures in

(49:02):
the laughing wind, so, uh, thirty three and twenty while
they've been buried. For me, it's just been all right,
are they gonna be healthy? How bad are the injuries
to the two stars? Because one night proves nothing to me? Yeah,
I mean t J was hitting me up all the Lakers,
the Lakers, the Lakers like it's It was a great

(49:25):
moment for the Lakers team to be able to beat
the hottest team arguably outside of Utah Jazz h in
the Jazz. Yeah, you gotta throw them in there. So
the some props um, But you know, to think that
that's sustainable and a championship round of of NBA basketball,

(49:49):
I don't see that. I don't see that happening. I
don't know what the health level is going to be
for for a d I do believe Lebron gets back
and and is able to make an impact. I'm just
not sure what a d S situation is going to
be because here's the thing. Right, the more i'm I'm
learning about what he's got going on, and I've said

(50:13):
this and shows past the way he grabbed his leg um,
that's an Achilles situation. An Achilles situation. That tendent is
for one, that it's the largest tendent in your body. Um.
For two, it doesn't really heal properly, So you don't

(50:35):
you don't just say, oh, take time, um, it'll be better.
Like no, you're getting closer and closer to popping it.
So if you can take preventative measures and and you know,
do a preventative you know, procedure to to make sure.
And I'm not a doctor, but I am an expert

(50:57):
on blowing an Achilles tendent, and I do know what
it looks like, I know what it felt like. I
did a lot of research on it after it happened.
I just don't know that a d will be able
to be um a factor this season. And so to
me that that if you think that that Lakers team

(51:19):
plus Lebron is going to be able to win a
seven game series against the Brooklyn Nets, who by the way,
they have to to be healthy as well. We don't
know what their health would be going deeper into the
season either, So but I don't I don't put too
much on the fact that the Lakers won that game

(51:40):
last evening. Yeah, I mean, we're still in single digits
in terms of having your big three. I think I
have to pay somebody money for that. When you say
big three related to anything NBA uh wise here, but
having Hardened, Durant and Irving on the court together just
hasn't happened. A strange convergence and and confluence of circumstances

(52:02):
that led us to this point where you're talking about
a thirty six and seventeen team that you have no
idea how good they are, likewise the Lakers, right, because
of the amount of time both of these stars have
been out. Look, they're thirty three and twenty. They're beating
the teams they're supposed to. So you know, if you're
a Laker fan, you're trying to find find your wins
as it were, and and you're bolstered by beating down

(52:23):
the nets this way and and having a guy like
Drummonds show up, and we talked about you know mc
lemore has seventeen off the bench, he goes six of
twelve and his twenty three minutes and you look at
the rotation, right, Montrez, Harald you you've got a lot
of contributors, but is drumming this, you know, one for
one swap out with with Anthony Davis? Should that come out? No? Right?

(52:45):
And Lebron is rehabbing an injury, or at least that's
what we believe his high ankle spraying. Right, And it's
always starts to get into these strange conspiracy theories when
it comes to NBA injuries as well. Right, the guy
that didn't any time off, it's like, well, now he's
gonna miss two months or six weeks or whatever. It is,
like he'll be ready for the playoffs. And like, well,

(53:06):
if he's legitimately recovering from a high ankle sprain, it's
no picnic, right, I mean, he did the here's my
picture of me in a walking boot and everything for
for folks. But I can't blame him when you know,
folks raise their hand and go all right. We always
talked about the regular season being somewhat meaningless and seeding
not quite having the same juice that it once did.

(53:28):
So long as your guys are healthy for a stretch run,
so you know, the Lebron stuff, it just swirls out
there because if folks are gonna assume he's coming back
off the high ankle, that's that's where I always just
raise my hand to go, all right, I don't know
that those you know, healed to the point where you're
back to yourself. That's a tough one, man. That's a
that is one of the tougher injuries to deal with.

(53:51):
And then when you're as strong, explosive and powerful as
Lebron is, a high ankle sprain is one of those
that it's just it's a it's not a good injury
to have. You know, you could hurt an elbow, you know,
hurt a wrist, you know, as spraying a shoulder um.
But those weight bearing limbs, man, let me tell you something,

(54:14):
those weight bearing joints, when when you're as big as
he is and you're moving around and everything is based
off of cuts and and jumping, and you know, it's
just that's a tough one. That is a tough injury
for pretty much anybody in sports because it's the it's

(54:36):
the worst low ankle sprains are easy. You're getting ice bucket,
You get through it, you're good to go. But high
ankle that's a different story. Man. It's just a much
more painful, much longer healing process. And it's just, you know,
it's it's a complex it's a complex injury, you know

(54:56):
what I mean. I love drama. And when we look
at the Western Conference, we talk about Utah and Phoenix. Uh,
two teams you and I have got to bang the
drum on in our respective platforms. Here me yelling alongside
Smith whenever I get to watch some Phoenix Suns basketball
at night, it's like, don't sleep on them. Eight and
two in their last ten, as are the Jazz. So
the two of those teams up on top of the conference.

(55:18):
Oh yeah, the Clippers are eight and two and their
last ten starting to get right, nine and one, the Nuggets. Okay,
maybe you just say, oh, they're beating a bunch of bumps.
Well you know what that you beat who's on the schedule. Uh,
that's that's the way it works. But for the Lakers,
a lot of angst about seeding the fact that San
Antonio is two and eight in their last ten, two
games under five hundred. You're you're fine. You're you're not

(55:40):
missing any play ins. You're not missing the playoffs. You
get there, and once you're in the tournament, anything can happen.
But Western Conference is gonna be a lot of fun
to watch. I mean there's no you know, decided monster
advantage here and rollovers like I think many would have anticipated,
certainly here in Los Angeles. But part of that is
just having a giant megaphone around anything. Lakers and Clippers

(56:02):
right now, wow, And and the Clippers seem to be
up and down. You know, it's like you you feel
like they're they're taking that next step. Um, Paul George
seems to be playing you know better. It's just, you know,

(56:22):
when when you look at the West, it's it's just
always going to come down to um, really to me,
um execution. You know, who's going to execute what what
they need to execute the best. If it's a bigger team,
if it's a longer team. We saw that happen with
the Lakers last year. They use their length to be

(56:44):
able to dictate to their opponents. Uh during the course
of the playoffs last year. They're not that same team.
But I will say I will say this by adding
Andre Drummond. If in theory they were to get a
d back at at a healthy enough status to be

(57:04):
able to contribute, they actually can play the same style
of ball and maybe even better with Shrewder out there. Um,
you know, but I don't know that that's going to happen.
And then you look at some of these other teams,
like Gobart is kind of I don't know. I want
to like him, but there's something about him that doesn't

(57:25):
allow for me to like fully be in on him.
And I don't know what it is. It might be
the microphone, I might be and listen. It might just
be as simple as I just you know, kind of
the way he looks to me. It doesn't like I
don't know, like I feel like just giving the man side.
I just yeah, yeah, just fourteen point five. It's based

(57:49):
upon his talent level. It's just like the way he
looks running up and down the court. Like like there's
people that I have loved as players, and they weren't
the greatest players, but I just like the way they go,
Like Kenyan Martin was one of my favorite basketball players.
You just like I just love that that physical like

(58:10):
you know, just rough neck type of just take no
no mess, gives no you know about what's going on.
I like those type of guys. Gobert just seems too
pretty for me. Like, and I'm not a pretty dude.
I'm I've I've made it well documented. I know I'm
not a pretty dude, but I'm sexy, you know what

(58:30):
I mean. So I like dudes that are more on
the sexy side, the rugged side, rather than the pretty
dude side. But anyways, I digress. I got so long
into that. The point that I'm making here is is
that they're going to have to execute from the point
of where Donovan is going to have to facilitate so
much to create open space for guys like Gobert to

(58:54):
be able to have opportunities down low. Otherwise they're going
to have to be really, really efficient from the from
the perimeter. So it's like one of those things. It
could turn out to be a hit or miss for
any of these teams in the West. It really could be,
because to me, it's going to come down to the execution,
and if their execution isn't there, if it isn't at

(59:16):
a high level, a team that you might have thought
was going to win is not going to win this year.
I appreciate it could be a Utah year. If you
ask me, I dig it. I like chaos, and that's
what we've got for the final month of this regular
season into the playoffs. We'll have you covered here seven
on Fox Sports Radio. No question, pretty boy by the way,

(59:38):
Yeah no, I I actually just wrote down three things,
and I've got T shirt designs in mind, the Harmon
Arrington or Errington Harmon, the the HA store as it
will will be up with You gave me two or
three and then you I'd be remiss if I didn't
say you brought out the Hitman heart. The excellence of

(59:59):
execution is no question. Hey, Discover matches all the cash

Do up. Lie. He's LaVar Arrington. I'm Mike Carmen. This
is Fox Sports Sunday. Thanks for getting up and hanging

(01:00:20):
out with us here today. Coming up next, we get
I teased it last hour. LaVar got a lot of
run this week for a Bill Belichick take, Let's talk
about it, shall we. That's next on Fox, starting it
back in time. Get your butts out of your seats shaking.

(01:00:41):
It's a Sunday morning, so you gotta clean it up.
But yeah, this we'll get your moving across the kitchen
floor as you go, get another cup of coffee. We
appreciate you hanging out with us here. It's Fox Sports
Sunday by Carmen alongside LaVar, Arrington and LaVar. You made
some headlines her son for something that I kind of
left you. Yeah, it's a good take. It makes sense,

(01:01:02):
is it there? There's a bit of a split for
me in terms of the you know where where the uh,
the poking and prodding of the bear is Bill Belichick.
Last year seven and nine, they did the Jeff Fisher record.
We won't get to do that anymore because we got
a seventeenth game, so we'll have to retire all of that.
But you were on FS one and you said, quote,

(01:01:26):
having the type of season that that the Patriots had
last year can make you rethink a whole lot of
things that you did in the past. I'd say, now
I'm reading your words back. This makes sense, Like what
you just said makes sense. Yeah, the bottom bottom blind
to it for me, and talking about Belichick and Brady
and Whispers and everything else, I thought he did a
really good coaching job last year. I think the talent

(01:01:48):
evaluation has been the problem for a long long time,
and Tom Brady covered up a lot of that. Again,
the premise of where I was coming from with what
I said, it wasn't to attack Bill Belichick. It was
merely to point out to me what appears if you're

(01:02:09):
looking with a critical eye to be just factual information.
Why would why answer me this question? Why would Bill
Belichick not feel pressure to come back and have a
winning season next next season? Oh? Absolutely, he can be

(01:02:30):
in Boston Sports Radio. Every loss is going to go
under a magnifying glass. This year they got you know
a bit of uh, you know a pass and I
think deservedly so. Right, half of your defense ops out,
Cam Newton gets COVID and Jared Stidham clearly is not
ready to take the job. But and then you just
talk about what they were putting out in terms of

(01:02:51):
pass catchers, just a disaster. But there's so many seasons
before where there were disastrous moments that they overcame because
they I mean, even the year Tom Brady went out,
they missed the playoffs, but they still amazing records. So

(01:03:13):
but the presence of Tom Brady was still there. So
to me, everybody, you know, the things I've been hearing,
why is why is this being overblown about Tom Brady
and Bill Belichick? Or I'm crazy for sitting there saying
that Bill Belichick could have a warming seat if he
doesn't have a good year this year. I don't and

(01:03:35):
I said it. I said, he doesn't need to get
too far away from the Tom Brady error before he
starts having success. Because my idea of it is to say, okay,
if you're telling me the Patriot way is is the
reason why there's been this tremendous, amy easing run of

(01:04:02):
winning and championship football, greatest in the history of the game.
But the moment the one that there are two factors
to two elements, to two pieces of the puzzle that
were always on the board, and that was well three
if you if you count Kraft. But you have Belichick

(01:04:25):
and you have Brady from the start, from the start
of it, from the beginning with with Ty law and
and Lawyer malloy and and Willie mcguinnis and and all
of those guys, Troy Brown and Dave Patton, Antoine Smith
back to the beginning, all of them left retirement, free agency, everybody,

(01:04:54):
Teddy Bruski, you name it all the way through. Okay.
So when you look at all of the players that
have played there, from say Owt to Moss too, you
name it, Fred Taylor, so many different guys, Corey Dillon, Um,

(01:05:14):
They've all moved on, and yet the team continued down
the Patriot way of winning. So it said to me,
I sit on on up on game yesterday. I made
the reference. Jay Z. Jay Z made a a record.
He made an album that was called called Lost One,

(01:05:37):
Lost One, and he he basically talked about in one
verse his his relationship going bad with his his what
we would consider to be his pair and his partner,
but handled the administrative side, which you could possibly say
is the coach, right. And and jay Z one of

(01:06:01):
his lyrics was, I heard people say that they made Hove,
so made Hove. Say, well make another Hove, right. So
the idea of it to think about what he said
in the in the mental that goes into that if
if the Patriot way is the Patriot way, and you

(01:06:26):
can just plug and play and continue to get the
same exact results, then make another Tom Brady. I mean,
you took him late. You took him late. He wasn't
a highly touted guy coming out of college, didn't start
his first year in the league. Okay, So make another
Tom to think that that is realistic. And we had

(01:06:47):
to debate that if Aaron Rodgers because somebody I said
Tom Brady is the greatest winner, He's not the greatest quarterback.
In my opinion, this is my estimation. His intangibles outweigh
any maybe any other athlete in sports. You know, there
may there may be a couple that you may debate with,
but I just think his intangibles are what makes Tom

(01:07:11):
Brady Tom Brady, and those intangibles become very very uh embraced.
It becomes culture, it becomes obsession, um, it becomes standard,
and it creates accountability. And I think that that's why
you saw that is not by accident that Tampa Bay endured.

(01:07:33):
Oh they they they have cracks or you know the
relationship between Arians and Brady and Datta Day. Brady doesn't
know where he's at. He doesn't even know what down
it is, and data dot all of these different things
that people were using that could have derailed any other quarterback,

(01:07:53):
any other player. Tom Brady just keeps going. And so
now Tom Brady goes. If Tom Brady did not win,
and he did not win at all, I don't I
don't say that that Bill Belichick is is really on
the hot seat. But if you take and you look
at the relevance and the magnitude and the gravity of

(01:08:17):
Tom Brady leaving and leaving a place where a lot
of people would argue and debate that it was the
the system in which Tom Brady was in that was
the reason why he was having so much success. If
Tom Brady goes and has uh five hundred season, just

(01:08:38):
above five hundred season, he has nine wins, ten wins,
Bill Belichick, that's not even a conversation. It's a washed conversation, right,
Bill Belichick, Like you said, all of the factors opting
out players, UH, injuries, uh, covid uh. You can look

(01:08:59):
at it and say, okay, this is okay. But Tom
went and won a Super Bowl. He won a Super Bowl. People.
Maybe people don't understand how big of a deal that is. Well,
we still have folks on this network that will bemoaning
his entire existence in his career. Hey won, he won

(01:09:19):
the Super Bowl. He won, he won the Big Game,
not even a a, not two seasons removed, not three
seasons removed, and they had to build it. And this
he left and went and won a super Bowl. Well
he built it and won it in a COVID year.
So like I still want to get suppruder tapes of

(01:09:41):
of what they were doing behind the scenes. He didn't
even have a real off season and one it all,
which makes it even more phenomenal. So to me, the
idea of all of the factors that go into what
Tom Brady did and what he accomplished. And then you
look at what New England did. New England looked like

(01:10:03):
it was over the error of of New England system.
The New England Way has come to an end and
the debate has been settled. Tom Brady was the Patriot way. Sure,
Bill Belichick played a major role in that. But I've

(01:10:25):
never seen a coach when a football game ever, never
seen it? Have you coached well wonderful preparation? Yes, Okay,
there are a lot of things, a lot of elements.
I'm a coach. I will give a ton of credit
to coaches for what credit is due. But one thing
you can never give credit for is it will always

(01:10:49):
be players over plays every single time. Every single time.
You can scheme it up for days, you still have
to go out and make the plays. We'll continue this
and there's still more to this. Uh, let's turn it
over to our guy, Isaac Lowencron. Now we're gonna hear
from me in about ten minutes as we go off
the rails. But for now, he's got what's trending in
the sporting universe? What up? What's trending? Michael and LaVar

(01:11:10):
is a big surprise in the NBA on Saturday night
is the shorthanded Los Angeles Lakers wanted Brooklyn by twenty
five points one to one oh one. The Lakers without
Lebron James, Anthony Davis, Kyle Kuzma, Marc Gasol, and Wesley Matthews,
but newcomer Andre Drummond at twenty points of eleven rebounds
and other newcomer Ben McLemore seventeen points five three pointers

(01:11:34):
as the Lakers snapped Brooklyn's nine game home winning streak.
Speaking of home winning streak, because the Utah Jazz home
winning streak now at twenty four thanks to Donovan Mitchell
scoring forty two and their victory over Sacramento. The Jazz
now forty and thirteen overall. The Phoenix Suns are now
thirty seven and fifteen overall after a twenty eight point

(01:11:56):
went over the Washington Wizards, Portland's Innis Cantor wenty four
points and a franchise record thirty rebounds, and their fifteen
point victory over the Detroit Pistons. Off the court, multiple
outlets report that Alex Rodriguez and billionaire Mark Loring find
lies in a deal to buy the Minnesota Timberwolves for
approximately one point five billion dollars. No word yet if

(01:12:20):
they understand that they're buying the Timberwolves and not the Twins.
I'm pretty sure they know they're buying the Timberwolves and
not the Twins, and it's still still a profitable BusinessLand
you don't have to. I'm just saying they went. They
went from an eighty eight million dollar franchise to one
point five billion, and they've been in the playoffs once. Silo.
I'm I'm, I'm just I'm just saying. I mean, you

(01:12:42):
can make fun of the product on the court, but
in the in the back room, they're they're doing Scrooge
McDuck stuff. Good good, pull there with this and breaking
Bad has his fortune all in coins and a vault
and can go like swimming inside his vault coins gold coins. Boy,
I'm impressed that you would go all the way back

(01:13:03):
to duck Tails, a staple of my childhood. I mean,
you know they brought it back. Oh yeah, it's great.
It's a fantastic show. These remake cartoons are never as
good as the original. I look forward to an Alvin
and the Chipmunks reference coming up later in the show.

(01:13:25):
Those movies have become cannon in the Harmon household, Okay,
I would imagine. So finally, very good, very good, Dave
there would say, Hey, Deckie mato Yama, four shot lead
at eleven under part going to the final round of
the Masters. He will tee off his final round at

(01:13:47):
two forty Eastern time. And finally this just in uh
a LaVar. Listen to this. One of our Fox Sports
Radio field reporters has just caught up to Bill Belichick
from a summer place in Nantucket to get his reaction
to your comments from earlier this week about him. So

(01:14:07):
let's listen in this. This is raw audio, just coming
in now to Fox Sports Radio Cincinnati. Do you feel
like the Toronto Cincinnati? Well, I mean, I'm just to
Cincinnati again. Kudos to our Fox Sports Radio Field reported
crew for being persistent in asking Bill Belichick about that
he better be he better be saying we onto the

(01:14:29):
super Bowl or that seat gonna get warm. I enjoy it,
I think as as we're breaking gets down. Continuing LaVar's
comments earlier this week, just gotta raised his hand on
Bill Belichick because Tom Brady went and left and one
at one right at all. Yeah, So it's a it
was an odd year your starting quarterback head covid Uh.

(01:14:52):
You had some constraints in terms of budget. And this
is where I separated the first the businessman. But wasn't
it a odd year for every team in the National
Football League? Sure? And and betting on Cam Newton. I
didn't like the move at the time other than the cost.
And remember they were just cash strapped moving in and
now they've they've spent I can't even use most of
the analogies that we used to. They're they're not safe

(01:15:14):
for work anymore. But they got their money, uh, and
they started spending crazy, right they hit the stock option
lottery or whatever as a tech company and employee back
in the late nineties. But John new Smith and Hunter
Henry and and Nelson Aguilar that that's the one that
just for the dollars didn't make sense to me. But
it's not my money, uh, and Kendrick Born. So you know,

(01:15:36):
at least on paper, you're looking at coming into the year,
assuming you can duct tape Julian Edelman together for one
more run, that perhaps you've got a base. The big
question at all is are you going to go and
trade for trade up to get one of these quarterbacks
in the draft? And right now, Cam Newton's your guy.
Cam Newton is still on a minimal deal. I don't

(01:15:57):
know where that shoulder is because that was as big
a part problem as anything. I mean, the throwing motion
was disastrous, and there have been some including you know,
Brady is throwing coach saying I that he'll be fine
this year and it'll be much better and much more
in tune. And you know, they sang a lot of
happy tunes together. He in Belichick in fact that they
went seven and nine with the roster he created. It

(01:16:17):
was a pretty good coaching job, not enough to get
them over quite obviously. And Miami now they've they've given
Brian Flores the opportunity to build a program college Stuble.
The problem is is that the other teams are kidding
that much better. Well, that's just it, right, you had
your run in the division, but you would have still
been able to have that run if you still had

(01:16:39):
Tom right. But so, but here's the thing is the
Patriots and and we'll never know what the true workings
are behind the scenes, but they've always gotten rid of
guys one year too early instead of by the way
you brought up Antoine Smith. That was yes, and this
guy should have been allowed to run his streak as
long as he wanted to play. And that's what makes
me feel like it's not say for for Bill Belichick,

(01:17:01):
and it is as he keeps winning no matter how
much Robert Kraft talks and news And this is where
I agree with you fully. Robert Kraft is gonna play
good soldier and talk up Tom Brady every chance he gets.
Behind the scenes, he's throwing stuff at walls because of
the success that Tom Brady still had this past year.
And if you don't think that Robert Kraft was sitting
somewhere when that Super Bowl was taking place, wondering did

(01:17:25):
did we make the right decision by allowing Tom to go?
And then secondly, can Bill recreate what he did with
the run with Tom Brady? If you don't think that
that's going through that man's head. See See, here's the
problem with a lot of these people that had the
the idea that that Bill Belichick is untouchable. See. Now,

(01:17:47):
I've lived as a civilian in the business world, and
and I understand how business people make decisions. It's made
based off of one thing and one thing only. Mike,
Please tell them what that is, straight cash the bottom line, homie. Right, So,
if if you can't recreate or or or create a

(01:18:13):
new beginning that represents what the Patriot Way is and
that standard unfortunately or fortunately however, because he's going to
go down as one of the greatest coaches of all
time for what he did on this twenty year run.
But regardless of that, your standard and expectation now is

(01:18:35):
one thing and one thing only every single year. And
what's that Mike is showing up in February and crushing
the souls of many men and women. Okay, So if
the super Bowl has become the standard and you're not
even getting close to that super Bowl perceivably, this is
what I'm saying last year, this past season, they perceivably

(01:18:57):
did not get close to the Lombardi Trophy, then how
long do you think Bill Belichick has until Robert Craft
starts looking at Bill? Like, Bill, you can do anything
you want around here. You could be the GM, if
you want to continue to be a GM, you can
be the president. You can be whatever you want to
be for the New England Patriots organization except the head coach.

(01:19:22):
How long you think that's gonna take? If he has
another season where he's up five hundred, you do know
his record without Tom Brady is below five hundred. So
why is it inconceivable to think that the seat could
heat up for for Bill Belichick as a coach if
he has another poor year, Like to to tell me

(01:19:45):
that he could go oh and sixteen and his job
security is he's good. He can you know, lose the
vast majority win to three games and and Bill Belichick
can stay as long as he would like to stay
as the coach, he'll he'll will retire or he'll dictate
when he leaves. That's absurd to me. It's absurd because

(01:20:06):
it goes against the rules. It's still the rules. Like,
you did a great job. Look at Doug Peterson, you
did a great job. And some would say, oh, he's
not comparable to Bill Belichick. The hell if he isn't.
The hell if he well, he ain't over a long time.
Let me tell you why he Let me tell you
why he's as relevant. We're way over, so we've got

(01:20:27):
to push this, but super quick. Yeah, he is as
relevant because he brought the first Super Bowl to one
of the most proudest sports cities and all of America. No,
you're missing the argument. Look how it fell apart as
soon as Nick Foles left. He's LaVar Arrington. I see
how I brought it all around. Yes, good, yes, morning, Yes,

(01:20:49):
Daniel Bryant for the world. I will get back into
this a little later on. This is fun stuff. He's
LaVar Arrington on Mike Harmon here on Fox Sports Sunday.
Coming up next, it's our guy Ilo. As we go
off the rails, hang with the we're just getting started.
Next on Fox, couldn't step on the opening Welcome back
in It's Fox Sports or Radio. Fox Sports Sunday. Mike Harman,

(01:21:10):
love Are Arrington, the All American three time pro bowler
with you here. Coming up in about ten minutes from now,
a startling get mission. We're talking about trying to win titles,
trying to win, and one superstar said, yeah, that's all
fine and good, but that's not the driving force anymore. Huh.
We'll talk about that coming up here on Fox Sports Radio.
But first it's time to kick it over to our guy,

(01:21:31):
Isaac Lowen Crome. We all do double takes, it curious headlines,
but it takes a keen eye to make sense of them.
Here's our man reporting on the theater of the absurd.
It's Isaac Lowenkron and this is Off the Rail Today,
a special host participation edition of Off the Rail on

(01:21:54):
Michael and LaVar. I want you to go into your
social media and search Gardner Minsh you and you will
be playing along with us because Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner
Minshew unveiled his new look mullet on Instagram this weekend
and it is going viral as we speak. He posted
it with the caption, well, first of all, he posted

(01:22:16):
the pics as LaVar and Michael will find out of
his new mullet, accompanied by it's basically a photo shoot
with him wearing a denim shirt open to the navel.
There's some chest hair and other things visible. He posted
the caption, Yesterday, we said goodbye to the dirty diesel drapery,

(01:22:38):
which for raw power was second to none, but we
say hello to the more refined Platinum power Pelt. Meticulously
crafted for a sleek and aerodynamic design, the pelt is
built not only for speed, but also for pleasure. Unquote. Now,
what's so off the rails is the extreme variation in

(01:23:03):
reactions from people on social media. Among the more negative
reactions and I quote, what the bleep are you doing?
Another he looks like he's getting ready to wrestle Rick
Flair in the cow Palace in and old Urbane is
going to have a field day with this clown. However,

(01:23:24):
those are the extreme negative reactions. There were some really
extreme positive reactions. One Gardner minshew and his chest hair
are living in my head rent free and other Hey
just wondering if you like older women. If so, just
let me know I am available. It would be women.

(01:23:46):
There's a country song that says that to other comments,
and they say they want to bring in some guy
named Trevor to work here. Not with this sex panther
of leader at the helm, not in this house. And finally,
Gardner Minshew should be the guy she told you not

(01:24:07):
to worry about in every meme from here on out
and now with their expert analysis of Gardner Minshew's new look,
here are Michael Harmon and Labar Arrington. Oh you do
is laugh. I love it. I like that you got
raw power in there, a little bit of the Stooges,
but really it's reminiscent of a music icon. I'll let

(01:24:30):
me quote in dramatic form. Quote you can tell the
world you never was my girl. You can burn my
clothes when I'm gone. You can tell your friends just
what a fool I've been and laugh joke about me
on the phone. Yeah that's Billy Ray Cyrus run amuck.

(01:24:50):
Oh there you go. Hey, you know what, it's okay
to be the bad guy Hall of Famer. We'll talk
more here on Fox. Great Eggs Welcome. In second half
of the show, begins disco ball still down marching band
refusing to yield. Chris Perfett has tagged out. As we

(01:25:11):
used more wrestling parlance. Why because I'm ready for wrestling.
He tapped out, He's out. Did you tap it? I
heard you tap it? I tapped that's it, he tapped out.
Iowa Sam has taking the reins, sitting there with his

(01:25:31):
Iowa cap on, all ready to go. Our team assembled
for the second half of the show. Bo Benson, Iowa Sam,
and Iowa Sam probably uh, you could buy Iowa Sam merch,
I have no doubt. And then of course there's Isaac
Lowan Crown on the updates. We went off the rails,
I did a dramatic reading of a key Breaky Heart,

(01:25:53):
and we celebrated Gardner min shoes mullet. We talked about
lavars um hot take quote unquote, as it was termed
in so many places. LaVar just kind of asking the question,
you know, Bill Belichick is not immune to coaching questions.
He shouldn't be right. Eventually, everybody runs their course. It

(01:26:13):
sames as though people feel as though that he's won
so much and done so much that he's untouchable. Well
as as we know, nobody's untouchable at all. At some
point it's is it this year? Maybe maybe not, But
the reality is you're measured out what you're doing today.
The old titles are great, and you're always gonna have

(01:26:35):
those memories. You're gonna have shots with you guys holding
up a bunch of rings forever. We'll have the great
draft footage from Belichick and his dog. I mean, all
of those things are indelibly etched into our brains. There
you go, big words Sunday, but we we know that
it's the what have you done for me lately? That's

(01:26:55):
what sports is as a player, as a coach, as
a GM. We watched the turnover and now you just
wonder if it were hitting the point of the natural
life cycle. And you know, there was so much made
of the Arians and Brady. Oh they don't get along
when they're you know, weren't putting up forty five points
a game. I don't know what folks expected. Uh, you
still march to a super Bowl. But it made for

(01:27:17):
good theater, made for good fodder. Uh me trying to
be the voice of reason as I normally am LaVar,
I laughed at it, uh and pushed it aside. And
then you know, having predicted them to win the Super
Bowl before the season, I did a victory lap, uh
and danced on the heads of my colleagues who diminished
them to what we're gonna be a seven or eight
win team. Uh So take that and I'll do it

(01:27:41):
again coming into this year. But but we talked about
victories and and look and life is measured. I made
a Scrooge McDuck analogy. We're talking about how much is
the pile of cash? For some that's the the ultimate
to it all. For others, it's it's about winning. And
then there's some combination thereof which is why we see
at the buyout market players trying to make a better

(01:28:05):
opportunity in the NBA for themselves, whether it's to go
to a winner, or whether it's just to go play
with your friends or in a city where, hey, you
know what, if I'm gonna keep grinding here, let's let's
go have a little bit of fun while we're at it,
especially if you're towards the back end of your career.
Kevin Durant raised some eyebrows. Uh, as he's he's talked

(01:28:25):
and we've talked about him and his EBB and flow,
his battles on social media. I don't think he got
nearly enough blowback for like and Rappaport was a dope
for putting that stuff out in their private messages, but
a fifty dollar fine and not really anybody raising their
hand to say, hey, you know what, a lot of
what you said here is actually problematic here Kevin whether

(01:28:46):
it was supposed to be for his eyes and ears only,
uh to say, you know what, I'm sorry that you
saw that was you know, the non apology apology. But
we we've watched him fight win Mills at times in
social media, and now he did an interview with Rachel
Nichols talking about titles not equating to happiness at this

(01:29:10):
point in his career. It's about being the best basketball player.
And I think that's an interesting divergence from what culture
and what the sports culture has always been. It's, yes,
you enjoy playing the game, you want to be as
good as you are, but there's got to be something
tangible that comes with that, and normally it's w's. It

(01:29:32):
could be in more financial rewards, it could be in
you know, we we've had m v P talk since
I think week two of the NBA season this year, LaVar,
it seems again earlier and earlier, and you know, we
add fifteen guys to it just because while we want
to talk about our favorite guys. Uh quote. I wasn't
expecting to be a happy human human being from a title.

(01:29:53):
I was just expecting, like you know, the ending of
a movie. Once you work so hard and everybody tells
you this is what you're working for, it's the gold
ball in these rings. I'm like, okay, cool, let me
lock in on that. And I locked in on wanting
to achieve that. But I also realized a lot of
stuff that factors in that's out of my control. And
once I want a championship, I realized my view on
this game is really about development, like how good can

(01:30:13):
I be? It's not about let's go get this championship.
I appreciate that stuff and I want to win to
experience that stuff, but it's not the end all, be
all of why I play the game MHM, which has
kind of an interesting new right. It's it's one of
those and now deep thoughts by Jack Andy. That's a
profound epiphany, is what it sounds like, because that's how

(01:30:36):
it felt for me as well, and and kind of
really all my accomplishments, it's like you work so hard,
you focus in on it, and you work so hard
and you get to it, and then it's kind of like, alright,
there's got to be more to it than this, Like
you can't stop. You don't just stop. Life isn't over

(01:30:57):
after you've achieved something that you ultimately wanted to achieve. Now,
I'm not a super Bowl champion, I'm not a NFL
m v P. I'm not even a defensive MVP former
of any of those things. UM, But I I can
say I was all of those things in college and

(01:31:19):
and I wasn't a national champion. But you know, actually,
you know, first major award winner um in terms of
a linebacker UM at the school. So as I accomplished
those those things in the moment, it feels amazing, but

(01:31:42):
it comes and goes so quickly that now then you're
forced to try to kind of deciphered the feelings and
the emotions of what the accomplishment meant and how does that,
how does that lead you or per tell you or
prepare you for the future. So I can totally sympathize

(01:32:08):
UM and understand what k D is said, and that
that quote just an interesting perspective, right, especially you're also
missing a bunch of time, and you had your injuries
in your career, and certainly k D we all remember
him slumping to the floor, uh and then missing the
next year, which is why we've been talking a lot
about the Anthony Davis injury of wondering you know, parallels

(01:32:31):
and where we're at on on those kind of uh circumstance.
But for for k D in that year out to
also be because you're grinding on rehab, right, and you
can speak to this as well as anybody, it's like,
there's got to be something more right and then more
going back to the fight to get back to the

(01:32:52):
player you were exceed the player you were proved, doubters wrong,
all of those things. I mean, because again, you know,
as much as say they don't hear the noise, they're
all liars, okay, every last player, coach, manager, And we've
seen it so many times now. I like that folks
are at least owning it a little bit more of yeah,

(01:33:12):
I heard what that guy said over there, Well, I
mean they should, they should, you know, call me out
by name sometimes with some of the takes, but you
know that's okay. Uh, they heard it, and that's all
that matters. I hear you, man, listen, people hear you,
and people hear what they want to hear. And people
decipher things the way that they want to decipher them, right,

(01:33:32):
That's what it ultimately comes down to. And if somebody
has built uh an opinion as to how they feel
about a person, that will dictate how they kind of decipher, internalize,
and and digest what is being said. So when somebody
digest what you say and is Harmon's thoughts and Harmon's words.

(01:33:56):
You know. The one thing that I always find to
be interesting, Mike, is when people get so upset with
your your thoughts and your opinions, and it's like they
call you names. They have all these different things to
say and this, that and other, but they're your thoughts,

(01:34:18):
they're your opinions. So it's kind of like why, like
you have to take a really good, long, hard look
at yourself if you could take the time to compose
a message and in our social media mailboxes or whatever
it may be, that you know, how people do their

(01:34:40):
their their comments or whatever at the bottom of you know,
articles or whatever it it it. It's intriguing to me
that for them condemning so ferociously and and so aggressively
what you know we have to say, they don't take

(01:35:04):
the time to look at Like what if somebody was
dissecting and breaking down what you're saying to us. Yeah, no,
it's it becomes a big wheel, there's no question about it.
Like the hardest part for me, Like you know, these
were giving our opinions, right, We're talking about down trying
to figure out motivations and heart and it's something we
talk about on the show a lot. And and maybe

(01:35:26):
you know that that becomes a a self help or
podcast or some kind of book that we sit down
and write with a number of our our teammates. And
you know, you got t J and Plaques and and
guys you've worked with, Brandon Short and others you know
from the Penn State alum side, guys you played with
and against. For me, I got I got plenty of
folks here in the radio business, right because you know,

(01:35:48):
coming up with what you think are interesting points, not
just to the audience, You've got to make it interesting
to you, all right, right right, And and that's the
because The other part is sometimes you just gotta deal
with the fact that you're using facts that some things
aren't opinion. And I'm not gonna go all third rail
and get us outside the line of sports. But some

(01:36:09):
of the stuff you hear if you listen to the
news or you just read headlines, and even in sports,
you're not actually getting the facts of what anything's about.
So you know, being more cautious about those things. But
just to have this kind of revelation at the peak
of your career, you win a couple of titles, You've
assembled a team that, by all measures, should be there

(01:36:31):
among the last standing, barring injuries and and chaos. And
let's face it, it's not been a normal year for them,
right Kyrie missing a week and a half and everybody
got wondering if he was coming back. You bring in
James Harden, who raised, you know, used his player agency,
and just went to a podium and said, these guys
aren't very good. I want out, which is something we

(01:36:52):
generally hear the back channel stuff, but he just owned
it in front of a microphone, and then all of
a sudden, it was like that was five years ago. Yes,
look at what he's doing. Here, it's like, well, yeah,
he's now surrounded himself with guys that can play and
other hall stars. I don't think it's a surprise that
you're winning. But then to hear Kevin Durant be like, yeah,
there's gotta be something more just working and refining my craft.

(01:37:14):
That's what you would expect to hear from a guy
at his level of the game when he decides he's
going to go into glass blowing or something after he's retired.
See I made him a glassblower, I mean creative, creative spirits.
It's either that or he launches his own line of
art and f t s. I don't know, I don't

(01:37:37):
know your yours is coming soon enough. Uh no, we
gotta make that happen. Hey man, we can't leave any
dimes out there. If we're going Scrooge McDuck vault to
where you're on a slide of cash and coins flying everywhere,
you can't leave any money on the table. So we're
gonna try to collect it all exactly why Iowa Sam

(01:38:01):
is fired up. As you can tell, he's finding the
drops already. All right, we'll continue as as we flow here.
It's Fox Sports Sunday here on Fox Sports Radio. I
just thought that was an interesting psychological turn for a
multi time you know, NBA champion and and what's next
as they do chase a golden ball, whether he wants

(01:38:22):
to admit it or not, another one would be nice.
It would be nice because remember those were Steph's teams,
even though he was the m v P, because that's
stuck in his craw low these many years, as we've
heard previously. But coming up next we dive back into
the NFL Draft where it we'll get more draft heavy
in the weeks to follow. Still plenty of chess pieces

(01:38:43):
on the board to move, but right now the number
four pick is the one we want to hold our
hands up. You get those fours up. The ball is
in Atlanta's court? What do they do with it? We'll
talk about it next year on Fox Boy. Things took
a dark turn here at Fox Sports Radio. And I
mean not because Hoodie and the Blowfish or singing to
me Darius Rucker also known as Hootie in most circles. Yeah,

(01:39:08):
Mike Carbon alongside LaVar Arrington here a Fox Sports Sunday,
we're talking about m v P s and and early
pitching exploits of the dominance of Jacob Degram. He's gonna
be in one of the Find Your Wins. Why because
that's the only place he's gonna find one, is me
giving him one here on Fox Sports Radio. But talk
about just being unfair at times, and we started talking

(01:39:28):
about the m v P LaVar and it was a
you know, went into a dark place as related to
the health of one Fernando Tatis Jr. Just everybody the
expectations huge and with great paychecks come great responsibility. Yeah,
I kind of butchered that Spider Man line, but it's true. Uh.
You know, folks start looking at you a little bit

(01:39:49):
differently when you add a couple of commas uh to
your name. There's no question about it. Hey, for hot
water that never runs out, go takless with Navian Now
the Entankles water heaters provide endless hot water for spotlight comfort.
Visit tankles made Simple dot com and save hundreds with
local rebates Tankless made Simple dot Com. Yeah, it's a

(01:40:12):
you know, it's that time of year. You're starting to
do spring training, spring training, spring cleaning as well. Right,
my daughters were off on their spring break this week.
It was we did uh some cleaning, some going through
the closets, and and all of those. I started to see, uh,
we we've hit a place where groad sales signs are
back up around neighborhoods after a year away. So folks, now, yeah,

(01:40:34):
there's no question about it. I want to go pick
through see if anybody's gonna sell me any trading cards
and member, yeah, hey, man, I got notices, my man,
I got notices that my stuff's gotten into the grading
process now. So like I'm just wringing my hands, going money, money,
I'm gonna be Scrooge McDuck by the end of situation

(01:40:54):
that at some point, I think if everything breaks right
for this, we can probably get close in terms of
net And then once you get that first that stuff
that now we're just getting warmed up. LaVar. I got
some ideas, I got I got some ideas of how
to keep building, because you once you get momentum, it's

(01:41:15):
like the old Dante Culpepper thing, right, you start getting
that role that he used to do after a big completion,
as he was mocking his opponents. Somehow that wasn't taunting.
But if I just wave at you and say hi, uh,
it is. Uh, it's a strange, strange world we live in.
That But we talk about high draft picks and high
drama and guys that are about to become multi comic

(01:41:36):
kids in in short order. We talked a lot about
quarterback play and and all these young prospects and how
they soared out and still got a couple more weeks
as folks, you know, put the next iteration of their
draft board. No, now I'm hearing this guy's at number two.
Like I get it. You get paid by the word
the number of mock drafts you put out. So iteration

(01:41:56):
eighteen means you got paid eighteen times to put up
a mock aft. You know what that means. You've got
to move guys around in the top ten based on
what your quote unquote hearing right rising and falling to
me is always nonsense because you've watched tape, you've seen workouts.
Maybe you haven't had a chance to to talk to
the kid. And this this is where this this year
is a little bit different, right, and that you haven't

(01:42:19):
had the visits, you haven't had the flow through in
combine and everything as normal. We talked earlier about Trey
Lance saying, hey, look at me over here and having
a second pro day. But when we look at the
draft board, I look at the Atlanta Falcons is perhaps
the most interesting spot in that early go round because
we we look at some of the trades that have

(01:42:40):
already been made, where quarterbacks are in new positions, and
most recently the well quoft Sam Donald got sent down
to Carolina where he and Teddy Bridgewater will battle at
least for the moment before Teddy Bridgewater, I don't know,
finds himself. Another team would be my what i'd suspect,
but they're interesting and eat right what Caroline is gonna do?

(01:43:02):
But at number four, you've got Atlanta and you've got
Trevor Lawrence. Seemingly we put that and we can already
put the ink pen on that one. And then you're
talking about Wilson and either mac Jones or Justin Fields. Again,
I'd still take Justin Fields number two overall and leave
the rest of these guys to sort out among themselves.

(01:43:22):
But when you look at Atlanta, you're you're at a
point with Matt Ryan. Folks, forget he came into the
league in two thousand eight. H it's been a minute
and right and it's not that you don't you have
to put up pinball numbers every year. But they had
their run to the Super Bowl. Three will all remember

(01:43:45):
it forever. Add it in your hands. But the Atlanta
Falcons haven't out after season. It would mean an awful
lot of dead cap uh for them. But the salary
cap is gonna go up, and it's gonna go up
by a wide margin, much like it shrunk and contracted

(01:44:06):
this year. And again it's all funny money because you
can dance and restructure things to move payments around and
get yourself into position. Might take a more than a
handful of guys to do it to really make your
team work. But we've seen so many teams now do
that that it's becoming commonplace. But with Matt Ryan, it's
the with the number four pick, do you go and

(01:44:28):
get him another weapon or do you go draft? Because
you're looking at this draft class saying we've got an
opportunity to go get a difference maker for our future.
Your Arthur blank, which which path do you choose? LaVar Arrington,
I don't know that there's a wrong path because they
have so many needs. So when you're when you're a

(01:44:51):
team that's at this point where they're at right now,
where they need a running back, you know, Girly and
he'll become free agents. Um. You look at their secondary questionable,
you look at their edge guys questionable. UM, I just

(01:45:16):
I don't think that that. I think at this point,
you take the best player available, whoever is rated the
highest on your board, that's who you take. Most would
assume that it would be h Kyle Pitts would be
that guy, right Austin for having left uh In in
free agency in the past, Atlanta did bring in Mike Davis,

(01:45:36):
so Arthur Arthur Smith did did bring him in from
Carolina where he acquitted himself pretty nicely in place of
the injured Christian McCaffrey last year. But is he a
guy that is your your only option. It's him and
Edo Smith right now, and Haydon Hurst is there who's
been solid. But you can go to a two tight
end set. I'm staying I'm staying bullish on saying, whoever

(01:45:59):
the high rated guy is on your draft board, I
don't care if it's a duplicate position. If it's Michael Parsons,
you take them. It was good that you know these
quarterbacks want to get an If it's Jason, no way
you take them. You know, well, you gotta we gotta

(01:46:22):
break up the quarterbacks somehow, right. But it doesn't seem
as though it seems like it will be a offensive
lineman or a secondary guy that that breaks up the
the quarterbacks dominance of the top ten ten. I don't

(01:46:43):
I don't see it being anybody anything else. Pitts possibly again,
I think people are very very high on him, as
they should be. Um. I know there's been a lot
of questions as to you know, how how infatuated Jerry
Jones is with him, and and you know what what
Dallas would want to do. Dallas is known for tight ends. Um,

(01:47:07):
So that's interesting and intriguing. But yeah, I think that
you were mentioning earlier, you know how Lance is doing
another one another pro day to get attention, and how
all of these quarterbacks are in these debates and and
this that and other, and the only one that you're
really not hearing anything from is Trevor Lawrence, which smart

(01:47:28):
the rest of these guys, it's it's their campaigning, you know,
Trevor Lawrence, you put your head down, you're going to
getting married he was in Vegas and whatever else, But
there's just anything. Yeah, there's nothing to me. There is
nothing you have to lose if you are are game
planning and campaigning to improve your draft stock and your

(01:47:52):
draft status. In fact, there's a business model connected to
it that is still relatively very very very untapped, and
I won't put it out there because it's something I've
been working on for years um and trying to perfect it.
But it's also the idea of understanding that you have

(01:48:14):
to take an amateur athlete. This is another reason why
I have a whole, you know, issue with how amateurism
is handled at the n c a A A level, especially
for you know, major sports that don't have you know,
farm leagues and stuff like that. Is the fact that
you expect ah amateur athlete to go from being an

(01:48:40):
amateur and thought and in action to being a professional overnight,
seemingly overnight. So the things that you should have had
in place, the systems, that infrastructure as an athlete that
you should have had in place, you don't. And now
it's left up to the trust of your agent, the

(01:49:02):
trust of your parents, the trust of all these other people,
and they have no freaking idea how to do it
the right way. Well, it's part of the building blocks
to a lot of this right and whether the name,
image and likeness changes, that's going to change a lot
because it's going to force people to have to try

(01:49:23):
to figure it out. And the evolution may come. But
I'm I'm going to ultimately say it's still going to
remain the same because there's only going to be a
handful of guys that actually are going to be marketable
enough to do it, and then secondly the guys that
that aren't, Like there's something like I can only imagine

(01:49:46):
like if Joe patern if there's a coach out there
that's like how Joe was right, you might have the
ability to be able to market and brand yourself and
and sell your your stuff and collect residuals. But them
coaches is gonna find a way to block it. They're
gonna block it. Well, especially if it's cutting. In New
York times we weren't allowed. Social media was just beginning

(01:50:08):
to hit, and I could I could guarantee you this,
if it's one thing I can guarantee you if Twitter
and Instagram, Facebook in my space were just coming out
when I was leaving school. Um, if if social media
was at the point where it's at right now with
some of these these And I don't know how coaches

(01:50:30):
are these days. I don't know how old school they
are versus new school. But I just know this, if
if players used Twitter the way that they use it
today while Joe was coaching, either you would have lost
your starting job. You would have been sent home, you

(01:50:51):
would have lost your scholarship. Uh. It would have been
some very very like, very very like stern um handlings
of of how some of this stuff is going on.
And I gotta be honest with you, I wouldn't be
I I can honestly say the only part I would

(01:51:15):
have a problem with Mike is if if you're doing this,
if you're condemning the action, but you're not educating them
on how to do it. So, in other words, if
Joe got uncomfortable with the way I interviewed more so
than anybody else, Right, maybe Larry Johnson after me because
I created the example, but he would just pull you back. Yeah,

(01:51:38):
I would have imagined there were some some battles with Larry, Right,
he would have pulled, but he would have pulled you
back like like it's like, oh, I didn't like the
way he did his interview this week, We're not making
him available to the to the media this week. Like
that's you had the power to do that. Could you
imagine in today's culture, you know, I would have been

(01:51:59):
on Twitter like you believe that this coach has banned
me from being able or removed me from being able
to do. You know, you would be going, hey, Halle, well,
I mean maybe, I mean, that's a different story. And
all those traps out there at the hey, you see

(01:52:20):
you see Trish, Trish was definitely thirst trapping. I'll tell
you what your your wife happy birthday? Yeah, well it's
Antonio's coach Pearce's wife's birthday. But but they boy, they
were looking pretty um pretty sharp out there. I was
gonna say Miami was heating, Yeah Miami, Yeah, they they anyway,
So the point is definitely would not have used Uh, yes,

(01:52:45):
I would have, Yes, I would. I would have used
you have no DA to meet girls. I would have
This whole Deshaun Watson thing got me rethinking, how you know,
I'll talk to my kids and you know, talk to
my There's a whole other lesson. Don't get too far there.
So it's like kind of trying to find that the
balance of all of this is basically what I'm saying,

(01:53:05):
you gotta prepare these guys better than what we're preparing
them right now, because you can't take somebody and tell
them to become a professional overnight. You can't tell their
parents to become professionals overnight. So interesting you look at
like Peyton Manning and Eli Manning and people who have
had family members that have played in the league. They
have the understanding and the education and the experience to

(01:53:28):
be able to help guide them to to you know,
avert any type of crazy happenings, even even if they
get caught up because Eli got arrested. I don't know
people even know that Eli got arrested in college right now.
For some people, that could have knocked you out of
being It would have certainly knocked you out of being
the number one overall pick. It would have knocked you

(01:53:49):
out of being a high draft pick. It would have
tainted you in some type of way character issues, this,
that and the other. But yet they were able to
get through that and still continue to build his and
and that Manning brand. That's being missed right now. So
what it is that you're talking about, Like, to me,
it's like understanding what you need to do to campaign

(01:54:12):
to make your brand the strongest and make it the
most appealing. Is really what the idea of it is? Because,
honest the goodness, Mike, most certainly nineties percent of it,
I would say, you're you're selling a facade, you're selling
a smoke screen. You're not. You're generally never the what

(01:54:32):
it is that you're campaigning that you absolutely you know
what I mean, it's the idea of it. That's right.
You gotta get in there and sell cell Cell. Pretty
soon we'll have a whole marketing arm called on the Lamb,
Lamar LaVar Arrington Marketing on the Lamb with LaVar Yes
up on game as extending beyond ten a m. To

(01:54:54):
noon here Saturdays on Fox Sports Radio, podcast at Apple Podcast,
Google Play, wherever you get your audio. Just to close
the book on it, Eli Manning jailed briefly after an
arrest for public drunkenness going back to two thousand. That
would have knocked vast majority of guys out of a

(01:55:16):
top guy well and and it's fair to bring it
character would have destroyed his opportunity to go that high. Well,
it's it's fair to to bring that up as well,
because well, Mac Jones has his has got his d
u I in his past as well, and that doesn't
seem to be affecting that things a whole hell of
a lot, now, does it. He's LaVar Arrington. I'm my

(01:55:38):
car me, this is Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports. I'm
just calling what it is, all right, and we we
look here sometimes don't look here, but yeah, there's a
lot of pile of money to be had there to Lavarci,
we got forty two business ideas for us to start here.
And the more I talk, I'm starting to drift into
Joe Montana as Cadence, as if I'm Fat Tony from
The Simpsons. It's really weird. That's outside Chicago. E's starting

(01:56:01):
to come out here as baseball is underway. You know,
have you sad Bill Macy? Yeah, that's crazy show. Yes,
sad Bill Macy always a win, but yes, Chicago based. Uh,
it's it's in my queue. I started at one point
and then I pivoted because someone referenced to Sopranos episode.

(01:56:21):
So I'm going back and I'm rewatching that from shameless
a ton of times, and I'm telling you you gotta
watch it. I'm gonna pivot back in. That's gonna be
because no, no, no, no no, I got a lot of
treadmill miles ahead of me here. Uh you know, as
the el oom lot z uh, my posterior movement begins

(01:56:44):
once again. We've got so much more Mammals of the
Week coming up in about five minutes from now. But
first it's Isaac Lowan Crown, who's got the updates from
across the sporting universe as well as the Masters. What's up, buddy,
Michael LaVar? We start with some breaking Major League base
on who was the Los Angeles Angels just announcing outfielder
Dexter Fowler has a torny A c L left knee

(01:57:06):
yephan he is out for the season. The Detroit Tigers
today placing first baseman Miguel Cabrera on the ten day
injured list with a left biceps strain. And kind of
segue from baseball to basketball, multiple atlets reporting Alex Rodriguez
and billionaire Mark Lore finalizing a deal to purchase the
NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves for approximately one point five billion dollars

(01:57:31):
they will assume control from current owner Glenn Taylor in
three on the court on Saturday night, the Los Angeles Lakers,
without Lebron James or Anthony Davis still want at Brooklyn
by twenty five points one to one oh one, breaking
Brooklyn's nine game home winning streak. Utah's home winning streak
now to twenty four. Donovan Mitchell scoring forty two at

(01:57:54):
a sixteen point and went over Sacramento the Jazz forty
and thirteen overall. Phoenix is now thirty seven and fifteen
overall thanks to what point went over the Washington Wizards.
Portland's innis Cancer twenty four points at a franchise record
thirty rebounds in their fifteen point victory over the Detroit Pistons.
Head Deckie Manzi Yama has the lead going to the

(01:58:16):
final round of the Masters at eleven under par overall.
He has four shots ahead of Xander Shofley, Mark Leishman,
Justin Rose, and will Zala. Torus matsu Yama will tee
off the final round at two forty eastern, and finally,
Michael and LaVar. The tension between our own LaVar Arrington

(01:58:36):
and Bill Belichick and his comments to go viral throughout
social media, and our crack Fox Sports Radio research staff
a k ME has gone gone into the archives and
determine and determine that there's actually an interesting connection between

(01:58:58):
LaVar Arrington and Bill Belichick. Back in the day. Both
of them had parking spaces reserved for themselves at the
Rby's in Richmond, Virginia. Are you aware of this? A
labor that? Okay, so yeah, LaVar and Bill Belichick both
had parking spaces. Bill Belichick had one, but I think

(01:59:21):
it was because of something like defiance towards I think
it was defiance both times, in fact, against the owner
or the team or something. Now did you ever hear
the story? Did you forget it? Did you ever partake
in this reserved parking space? Oh? No, no, I would
have had to be in the listen. I love Richmond.
Shots out to the capitol. I love y'all um the

(01:59:43):
capital of Virginia. By the way, now you're educating folks
about geography, it is the capital right anyway. I I
would only been there to see either a the Wizard's
practice and and do their training camp, or be to
watch the football team practice for their training camp. And

(02:00:05):
I most likely at this point in time or at
the point in time at that uh that sign was
put up. You know I wouldn't I wouldn't have been there. Yeah.
So so my understanding this happened after you retired and
you refer to yourself on social media as former Washington
football team great, and the Washington football team like had

(02:00:25):
a cease and desist for I was not allowed to
put myself out there as a Washington r team great.
So this Arby's guy in solidarity put up a reserve
parking sign for Washington football team Great, LaVar Arrington and
solidarity with you, he said, being an Ohio State fan,

(02:00:46):
he terrorized the Big Ten for many years and he's
one of my favorite players. So we just figured, if
LaVar is in town, come on in and have a
couple of beef and cheddars. We'd love to see you.
In an unfortunate subsequence post script that RBS is no
longer there. It's now a Zaksby's back to you. Yeah, well,
you know, time evolves. I'll celebrate the greatness of Arby's

(02:01:07):
next hour as part of Find Your Wins. We got Well,
I would need one of those meat suits. Thanks Hlo.
He's LaVar Arrington. I'm Mike Carmen. This is Fox Sports Sunday,
and coming up next, it's time for the Mammals of
the Week. Yes, we celebrate greatness on the playing fields
and we'll see what LaVar's got up a sleeve for
this week. Next, We're all meant for more. That is

(02:01:28):
your theme of the morning here Fox Sports Radio, Fox
Sports Sunday, Mike Carmen alongside the king of the mammals himself,
LaVar Arrington. We're having some fun with you thanks to
our team making its sound so pretty thanks to all
of you out there across this huge Fox Sports Radio network.
Six hundred a filly, It's strong. The number just astounds
me from where we started when I was a young

(02:01:50):
sapling here in the Fox Sports Radio studios. Uh, the
I Heart Radio app serious x M. I've been here
a minute, LaVar, I had a full head of hair
when I heard this thing with this company all these
years ago. So it's it's always fun to have people
checking in from all over the United States on the globe.
We thank you for taking some of your Sunday with us. UH.
Find the podcast a little later on this morning Apple Podcast,

(02:02:13):
Google play wherever you get your audio, the I Heart
Radio app, Fox Sports Radio dot Com and as always
that little voice in your head. But without further ado,
let's I yield the stage. We've got the pulpit ready,
It's time. It takes an apex predator to properly assess
situations and spot potential greatness, no matter how big or small.

(02:02:38):
LaVar Arrington puts the spotlight on them all. These are
his mammals of the week. I love it. I have
three too, definitely have three mammals for you. I'm I'm
gonna start in Portland's you know who I'm talking about,
en as Cantor. You know he's the big man. Listen.

(02:02:59):
There are so many things that go unnoticed, and one,
generally speaking, it is rebounding. It's one of the most
amazing fundamental feats that you could do when you play
basketball is position yourself to get rebounds. Dennis Rottman made
it super famous. You know, Ben Ben Wallace was big

(02:03:19):
at it. Like you know, it's like that gritty player.
I like the fact that our boy, Enaz Cantor got
thirty rebounds, setting a franchise record. I mean, that's that's amazing.
You know how much work that is to get thirty rebounds,
all right, I mean that's Will Chamberlain like stuff y'all
scored twenty four points and he put up Now I'm

(02:03:40):
gonna I'm gonna move on to the Lakers. They beat
the Nets, and that was something that I didn't see coming.
I think it's a lot of people that didn't see
that coming unless you were a Lakers fan. But they
brought in Andre Drummond, another MAMMO of the Week being
named on a MAMMO of the Week. Yeah, okay, because
that that man did. He did some straight bully ball

(02:04:03):
out there. Man. I mean he pushed dudes around, He
went through him, he went around him, I mean he
went over him. And it shows that if they can
get healthy Andre Drummond's um, his his addition to this
team really could go a long way for the Lakers
trying to get this title again this year. Who's the

(02:04:26):
last guy? Not really, but but there's a little truth
in that. Donovan Mitchell's gotta get MAMO. The week he
put forty two up. They continued to be they continue
to be disrespected, So I'm gonna just keep putting some
light on them because I feel like the Utah Jazz
aren't getting the type of dude that they get, especially
Donovan Mitchell. He is a budding superstar. Don't don't forget

(02:04:49):
Shoq called him out. He has only responded by just
dogging teams and that didn't stop with Sacramento Kings where
he put up forty two points on that aid. Yes,
so we got we got three Andre Drummond, Donovan Mitchell,
and in Is Cantor. So those are my mammals for
There you go, Cantor averaging twelve rebounds uh per per

(02:05:11):
night for this season for his career just seven point nine.
Put the work in people and dominate when the opportunity
presents itself. Coming up next, we get back into one
of the biggest stories in sports. Why because we're talking
about an awful lot of zeros. That's next on Fox. Hey,

(02:05:31):
what do you say? It is our for the program?
It flies by oh so fast. Thanks for rocking with
us coast to coast Here on Fox Sports Radio by
Carmen alongside the King of the Mammals, the legend three
time pro bowler my guy LaVar Arrington. Check out all
the good stuff he's got popping at King of the
Mammals on Instagram. Of course you're talking about Up on Game.

(02:05:53):
The podcast is up from yesterday's show. You can hear
it live every week here on Fox Sports Radio ten
am to noon Pacific time, where LaVar, g J, Hushmnzada
and Plaxco Burus try to set you up on game
going a little deeper from the minds of three guys
who live the grind of the NFL experience. UH, coaching, teaching, mentoring,

(02:06:15):
all of those things, a lot of life lessons that
you can apply to your business, whatever it may be.
Motivational speaker too, got a little bit of that going
on in you as well of our Well, I'll just
say this. I enjoy being the change. That's all a voice,
you know, you give somebody a voice. All as they

(02:06:37):
need is a little bit of encouragement, a little bit
of confidence, a little bit of urging to push towards
your ultimate purpose, you know what I mean. I enjoy
being someone who impacts people in a way where they're actually,
you know, brave enough to go see what they can do. Yeah,
that's just it. You gotta be able and willing to

(02:06:57):
step out on that ledge. You don't know how far
you can go. We're watching the masters. Uh later on
today the leaders will tee off. That's coming up about
two forty Eastern times. So when you've got the big
boys out there, Hideki Matsuyama is your gator. Everybody remembers. Uh,
Hideki matsui I just love it. Eight under par last year,

(02:07:24):
that that got him tied fort right now atop the leaderboard, Hideki,
he's minus one twenty on your board right now. So
we'll keep an eye. Uh, they're out on the course.
They are playing the leaders teeing off a little later
on this morning. Uh, LaVar and I haven't some fault.
We've traversed a lot of a lot of ground over

(02:07:47):
the course of the last couple of hours, So you'll
definitely want to get the podcast. You could look for
Fox Sports Weekends Arrington and Harmon or up on game
as bonus content for the discussions we've had, which will
feed the water cooler real or imaginary as the week starts. Certainly, Uh,
a lot of good takes about the psychology of it

(02:08:08):
all as we talk NFL draft, talk about title chases
and guys kind of trying to find that other, that
other level, right trying to reach that other level. It's
only appropriate. I was watching a little bit of Doctor
Strange yesterday, right, hey, spoiler alert. You know, big car accident,
trying to recover goes finds the ancient one and you
gotta get you gotta transcend past the physical. You know what.

(02:08:30):
I want to watch what you do last week with
the crew? H k K. That was good when't Yeah,
there was more emotion in that. I was telling Bo
we we were commiserating on that earlier because I just
had on one of our monitors here in the Fox
Sports Radio studios. I've got some cornhole. I mean it
looks I like live live sports and sports like events,

(02:08:52):
the Masters, and then I had um King of the Monsters. No,
there's no question about it. Especially you seen the movie
Theater the Latest Weell. I didn't go in the movie theater.
I did watch it on I watched it on my
HBO Max. Oh so it's it's it's in theaters and
on SPO Max. Okay. Yeah, so if you subscribe, you
get it as part of your package. So if you

(02:09:13):
want to go see Max up oh and I Max,
that's gotta beorn And yeah, man, I just got I
had this to say the bow and I want to
see if you agree and Bo, feel free to open
up your microphone if you want to dive in as well.
There was more more emoting an emotion in several of
the scenes between the c g I monsters than I've
seen in a lot of Hollywood films. I don't want

(02:09:36):
to be a spoiler alerter, but I will say this.
I I felt that a lot of times I watched
movies and I feel like it's like incomplete, or it's
just kind of like cheesy. It's just like, I don't know,
It's like how Game of Thrones was. It starts, starts fast,
but it just kind of falls off. It's like I

(02:09:57):
wanted more meat on the bone and it was just
very very slim and lean. But this movie, Um, I
just I just I enjoyed it. I was entertained. Uh,
you're right. I thought the interaction was was interesting. I
thought the the the uh I guess the portrayal of

(02:10:18):
of both um Kong and Godzilla. Um, it made you choose,
That's what I That's to me. My biggest takeaway from
the movie was it made me choose. Like I went
into it, I grew up I was a big Godzilla fan.
I wasn't a big King Kong fan. I was a
big Godzilla fan. And I liked I like the flying guy.

(02:10:38):
People might not remember that there was like a super
Godzilla that could fly and and all that different stuff,
and it fought the regular Godzilla like back in the day.
And I was just a big Godzilla fan. And and
watching the movie, it was like Dang, like I kind
of fool with Kong, like okay, Kong, but then I'm like, man,

(02:11:02):
you are a bad boy guy Zilla. But then I'm like,
Dang Kong. See now he's all the way now he's
replaying the movie. And it forced it forced you to choose.
And I like the fact that, like, if you're going
to choose a focus these days in a movie, because
things are so complex and so so far ahead and

(02:11:24):
and technology Mike that it's like, if you're going to
do a movie like this, you gotta be careful because
it could come it could come out so wrong. But
I felt like they hit it like like it hit
this this movie like it it hit like. I felt
good about it. I like that. And you saw it
on a big screen. Getting back to the big screens,
A big deal. What's up? Boat was big? Yeah? No. Uh.

(02:11:45):
The actor Toby Kebble, who does the motion capture for
King Kong in the movie, also did the motion capture
for Kong and Skull Island, and he did some of
the um recent plan of the Apes movies. He did
motion capture for those. He just very Uh. Kong was
very emotive with his face and it was human. Yeah,

(02:12:07):
humanizes the character. So I feel like even if you're
if you're like uh Alex tishert one of the technical
producers here who is full of Godzilla, you can't help
but even root for King Kong a little bit just
because he feels more human due to that performance. Right,
but Godzilla had a face too though. Yeah, that's from
my quads. Come on, now, ain't god You're right swollen

(02:12:32):
dome exactly, do it again? Do it again? That's swollen
done time. No, it's great about this. I gotta ask
the question for for you guys, as we're all nerds
talking about movies here to get this final hour of
the show started, and it's it's all about box office
and cash because we're going to transition to cash here
for for a while here on cash straight cash that's

(02:12:55):
what we're looking at. Does Skull Island become part of
the Marvel Extended Universe because Sam Jackson, Prete Larson, and
Tom Hittleston were in it? Next go? Should so? King
Kong is now like an Avenger extended it. Should You
know what would have been dope? I will tell you

(02:13:17):
what would have been dope, and and I'm trying not
to spoil anything, but what would have been dope is
if Kong had the ability to reproduce. Well, okay, that's
all I'm gonna say. Well, maybe maybe there's more more
to be had. Maybe they'll bring maybe they'll bring out
Bed Wong from Jurassic Park and that would be a

(02:13:39):
tremendous development if Kong was able to reproduce. And I
just say, you never know where it's gonna go here
on Fox Sports Sunday, but you are now smarter for
having heard it, and you've all laughed a little bit,
And that's what it's all about. And that's that I'm
gonna triple underscore just this to to really just finish
the movie talk. It's a fun movie. Like there's emotions,

(02:14:01):
there's there's whatever else. Nobody's trying to throw any message
on me. There's nothing I gotta feel bad about. It's
just two C g I monsters getting after it. Super Apex. Well,
that's it, Apex Predators. That's what we're talked about. You know,
it's one of the songs on our iPad too, because
it was out of the The Mean Girls musical. I
really just took us down a left turn there. I'll

(02:14:24):
sink a couple of bars later on in the show.
You know what I really like is when they referenced
them as Titans. I like that. Well, clashes the Titans
released the cracking as it were, and that's yea. And
somebody references you as like Mike, you're a Titan, like
like tightening the industry. There's no question about like. So

(02:14:46):
so as titans on this show, we we go hit
to hit with other Titans on the other shows. And
and it's like the Battle of Apex Predators. Well, your
wife and friends were hanging out with Mike Tyson, so
it's not too far from Mike eight and kind of joke, Mike,
you love it too much, out of control and you
just can't stop the show man. Yeah. No, And we

(02:15:10):
we talked about glorious mullet at that point, Mike Titan,
I'm gonna eat your children. Look, uh, I eat that
hot one of the Titans of sports pepper on now Now,
now you're going off the rails. Fully, did he have
his tiger with him? That's all I want to know.

(02:15:32):
Um at LaVar Arrington at King of the Mammals on Instagram.
Find me over at Swollen Dome. We're talking Alex Rodriguez
and his bid to buy the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the
estimate is in the one point five to one point
six billion dollar range. He and his business partner partner,

(02:15:52):
Mark Lori, president CEO of Walmart uh e Commerce for
several years. So we're talking to out just the two
of them. At least that's what's being put forward as
opposed to early efforts by Alex Rodriguez, Jennifer Lopez and
others to buy the New York Mets before that offer
was rebuffed. Um I raised my hand, going, yes, there

(02:16:13):
was no way he was ever going to get ownership
of a major League baseball team given the scandals to
which look and now he's become a face as an announcer.
That's one thing right you can get in the booth
and you can have your your turn and redemption there.
I don't know that it's going to extend to the
boardroom there. Even though the PD era, let's face it
made many of those MLB owners very very well. They

(02:16:36):
were already wealthy. Then they became obscene. Yes, he became
obscenely wealthy. But now they have a bid to go
buy the t Wolves from Glenn and Taylor, who paid
eighty eight million for them back in We're talking at
one point five billion dollars and to get into that club. Really,
all you need to show is we've got it on

(02:16:58):
the balance sheets. Tell me the nb A wouldn't benefit
even if you don't like him, right, love them, hate him.
It's kind of like working in radio. I don't want
you to just shrug when you hear us come on
the erraw. No, I'd like you to shake your fist,
either in vitriol in anger, and really just go against
everything I have to say. I got no problem with that.
Just be smart or be happy, all right exactly either way?

(02:17:21):
Support us, uh and evangelized to your friends. UH. Tell
them I'm the worst that you've ever heard, or I'm
the best. I I don't really much care as long
as you pick a side if you had to choose,
if you had to choose, and that's what Alex Rodriguez
would do. You were supposed to tell me that after
the show. I I need my ego for the next

(02:17:44):
forty one minutes. Anyway, I appreciate you, so ponder this,
LaVar Alright, we've talked a lot about revenue streams and
opportunities and all the different things you want to do
in your life. Ponder this for the next couple of minutes. Okay,
I'm going to what would it take for say a

(02:18:04):
LaVar Arrington to bring his friends together to try to
find themselves running a major sports team, beyond the coaching realms,
beyond the mentor realms, other than you know, a couple
of big checks. What would it take And is that
mentality already in the locker rooms we'll talk about Yeah,

(02:18:25):
we're gonna talk about that coming up next year on
Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back in It's Fox Sports Sunday,
Mike Garmen alongside the King of the Mammals himself. It's
my guy, LaVar Arrington. Thanks for being with us here
on Fox Sports or Radio and brought up before well
we we we took a time out to pay some bills.

(02:18:47):
Are our guy LaVar Arrington, I put post it to him.
The world of sports evolving and we see more and
more players working to get into the executive roles. Like
it's one thing for the coaching side, but now we're
looking at more and more talking about their aspirations too
to run the ship as as opposed to you know,

(02:19:10):
just being a part investor. We've got Lebron James already
has interests in the Red Sox and and in the
UK soccer. We've got um Michael Jordan quite obviously with
with ownership and we we've talked a bit, you know
the last few weeks of a number of players putting
money up into the new worlds of n f T
s and and getting into different parts of the collectibles business. Right,

(02:19:35):
if you're gonna be forced to sign a piece of
paper nine billion times, why not trying to figure out
how you get paid on it twice? Right, And it's
something you can relate to, I think with the number
of times you've you've put your signature to things through
the years. But you know, certainly the money has changed
the last decade or so, and we we look at
the quarterback position in the NFL most notably, but when

(02:19:57):
Alex Rodriguez gets in the mix for owners, it's like, yeah,
baseball contracts, look at look at the amount of money
this guy made UH and NBA players right with the
max deals that you have here, it doesn't take long
for that to start to add up. But is this
something that that gets talked about in locker rooms a
bunch those those aspirations and even post playing days of

(02:20:18):
if I could dot dot dot and trying to line
up with people to see about making those dreams reality.
I think for some I think for something that that
you know, enjoy the business aspects of of what are
you know, what's going on and what's taking place? Yeah,
I mean those are conversations. Do I have those conversations now?

(02:20:39):
Um Achilly brought that up not too long ago. It's
funny as you say that, like maybe last week. I
think he brought that up in terms of just a
good group of dudes with with experience UM administratively speaking,
UH and and how to run not only a team,

(02:21:01):
but how to run UM, how to run the organization.
You know, what who do you put in place like
who who is the VPS of of the different um,
you know, different categories that you have in the building,
from marketing to sales too, you know the whole advertising piece,

(02:21:22):
you know ticket sales, you know personnel and there there.
You know, there's a lot. There's a lot that you
have to take into consideration. UM. And it's a very
very self contained UM business unit, so to speak. So
it's a conversation. I just think that it would um,

(02:21:44):
it would take it would take a lot for it
for it to happen, UM. But I don't think it's
beyond the realm of possibility, especially in one. I think
that there were a lot of a lot of opportunities
that could come about where you may see, UM, some
people aggressively UM want to go after you know, pieces

(02:22:07):
of a team. But you know, with that being said,
for the most part, these are legacy plays, right like
those our family you know for just family family ran
businesses that will pass down to the family through generation
to generation, and you might be able to get in
and get a piece, but generally speaking, it's such hollowed ground,

(02:22:30):
it's such valuable real estate that it's it's just that's
a very very like to see Uh, to see a
group go in and actually take over an entire team.
I mean, we saw the opportunity for that to take
place with Carolina. Um it didn't happen that way, but
you know that that that goes without saying. I mean,

(02:22:50):
it just would be a difficult that would be a
difficult one to see happen. I think I just wanted
to make sure. I also I forgot one guy because
I saw him with these shiny new championship ring he
and Cookie. That would be Irvin Magic Johnson with his
percentage of the Los Angeles Dodgers, which somehow I thought
he divested and got paid out at some point or

(02:23:11):
maybe he want back in either way, majority owners are
players are out there. No, that's just it. It is.
It is rarefied air at this moment. And when you
hear a lebron you know, mentioned those kind of things
like always comparison to Michael Jordan's in every aspect, right,
And I know that's the subject of many many debate

(02:23:33):
shows and many careers were made on just having that
argument time and time again. God bless him. Uh, And
that's the way it works. But it's the idea of
all right, anything you can do, I can do better,
I can do anything better than you. It's part of
the I heart radio Broadway channel that I find myself
listening to a Yeah that's right show tunes in the

(02:23:54):
Harmon household. Why because it gets the heart moving an emotion. LaVar.
We were talking about vis before we did get a
note on Twitter that we forgot Son of Kong, not
really proof that he sired offspring, but uh, at least
from what I read through quickly. But that was released

(02:24:17):
very shortly after King Kong uh, and it was an
albino guerrilla that they theorized was son of Kong. And
then you had Gotsuki, which was the h on a
cartoon in the in the late seventies with Godzilla. I
just know Kong from what I gather, is the only
one left. He's the only guy, you know. So if

(02:24:43):
you were able to create that where he does definitively
like meta woman Kong, you know, Kong get can get.
I like that. Yeah, I think that that would be
pretty I think that would be pretty flat. And to
add to that, how flat would it be if Godzilla
was able to do the same thing, you know, and

(02:25:03):
that he's a reptile so that might be like eggs
of you know, you know, I don't know, you might
you might birth hatch you know, five six. I just
think that would be a dope storyline, Like, you know,
it's like you're it's a race to arms, like how
many can you reproduce? Like a you got? Because one

(02:25:24):
Godzilla is enough to to ruin the earth period and
one one King Kong is enough at least close enough
to to mess up, you know, the Earth. So if
you had like a whole whole squad and it's like,
all right, my squad of Kongs are coming to fight
your squad of of Godzilla's, I just think that that

(02:25:45):
would be a dope a storyline, just just my idea.
There you go. We'll reach out to eat from salam
or teammate here on Fox Sports Radio. He does some
movie writing, some TV writing, so we'll bring him into
the pitch meeting where you go the Army of Kong's.
That wouldn't be first on my list, but I think
that would be a very compelling story. You know, I
want undercat No, I know that, But there's already allegedly

(02:26:08):
something in production. So somebody secured the rights on for Thundercat. Yeah, no,
don't say I'm telling you. I just saw it. I
don't don't mean to ruin your day, but I think
they were listening. They're not going to do it right. Well,
they may never do it at all. They may have
just bought gates and then there it sits. I hope
they don't do it right. I want them to not
do it right. I want to do it. Okay, Well,

(02:26:30):
we'll get back into that. That's part of one of
the many expansive dude, man, you gotta be working on
like forty seven different projects. The brain just keeps spinning
ThunderCats in the worst way. Man. You know what, we
could just do a staging of it. We'll dress up
and and we'll rent down a stage here in l A. No, well,
you can direct the stage play. I want to write.

(02:26:53):
I was gonna write a couple of songs. Iowa Sam
will have some some great rejoinders and some random drops
that he can mix in. I just, I just I
just think that a Thundercat so thunder you could get
a real like just like how they did with the Avenger.

(02:27:14):
You could get off, you could get a good run
out of it. You could get a really good run.
If we could make a multibillion dollar series of ThunderCats,
we've won. He's LaVar Arrington. He's dreaming, because if we
get that working, then you know what, then we get
back into team ownership. Bab See how I did that film?
The magic here the roar, thunder Cats are loose. Okay,

(02:27:37):
there we go. Wow, that was next level, right there?
A thunder Thunder Thunder Mike Carmen, Thunder Thunder, Thunder, Thunder,
Mike Garmen. You know, um, Mama, No, the Adam wing Guard,
the guy who directed Godzilla Versus Kong, is actually going
to be making a ThunderCats movie coming up in the

(02:27:59):
next couple He needs to call me. We'll see if
we can executive produce a meeting with Yeah, I'll reach
I'll reach out to Adam wind Guards people, and if
you're listening, send him this sound bite, because I think
I could help with the storyline of this. Knowing as
much as I do and as intimately engaged as I
am with ThunderCats and what it represented. You know, there's

(02:28:22):
a one more that I really liked that people might
not be up on, but I really liked it, and
it came and went and it was kind of quick.
Silver Hawks, silver Hawks exactly. You gotta look him up.
I'm telling you that one. I was all in on
that one too, but not as much as the ThunderCats.
But you didn't burst into song. You know, it's crazy.

(02:28:45):
Oh I could. I could believe me. They're they're, they're
opening song was actually better than ThunderCats. But here's what's
interesting though, right, I didn't have we didn't have all
that money, disposable income to go to toys r us
in places to get the action figures all the time.
So I would create I would color that. I would

(02:29:06):
draw them and color them and cut them out of paper.
You got any of those hanging around, we can produce
those n I used to destroy them. So like I
did it with the Ninja Turtles, I did it with
silver Hawks, I did it with ThunderCats. I would actually
draw them and then I would cut them out and
like the foot soldiers and all the stuff, like they

(02:29:27):
were fighting. I would draw them out and I would
cut out like pieces of tablet paper to create these
armies of of dudes that they were fighting, and I
would set them all up. I have them strategically placed,
and then I just rip them all apart. Its trees. No,
it's kind of like the light saber fights that we
used to have with our Star Wars guys. If you lost,

(02:29:48):
you lost a limb. There you go. Sorry to all
of the people who hugged trees and love the trees.
I love trees too, all right. But I did cut
a lot of tablet paper in my day to play
ThunderCats and and silver Hawks. Yeah, thunder cats are loose.
Feel the magic here the rule. ThunderCats are loose. Thunder

(02:30:10):
thunder thunder ThunderCats, thunder thunder ThunderCats. Yeah, if nothing else,
you've now just sung the theme song. So we'll make
sure we submit that to the production companies. You know,
I'm not a guy that requires a control in my life.

(02:30:32):
For in the studio, I felt I got my if
you had a measurement right there, I got down to
zero mm. That was kind of fun. He's a love
heart out my garment. I mean, he's a man of many,
many talents. As you become sometimes you're in the barrel
and you go over Niagara Falls. Man, you just don't
know what's going to happen there you go, but you

(02:30:52):
just hope you live going over Niagara Falls in a barrel.
So we're gonna do it. Hey, yeah, there's no question. Hey,
we're gonna talk about one of the most terrorizing things
you can see coming down the court. If you're an
opposing defender. We'll get into that in a moment. But
good morning, oh wow. Straight from Manitoba Halivar. We'll start

(02:31:19):
with Major League Baseball fellas. The Los Angeles Angels announcing
a short time ago outfielder Dexter Fowler has a torn
a c L in his left knee and he is
out for the season. The Detroit Tigers today placing first
baseman Miguel Cabrera on the ten day injured list with
a left biceps strain. Multiple outlets report Alex Rodriguez and
billionaire Mark Lori finalizing a deal to purchase the NBA's

(02:31:43):
Minnesota Timberwolves for approximately one point five billion dollars. They'll
assume control from president owner Glenn Taylor in three Taylor
telling the Minneapolis Star Tribune that the deal was struck
yesterday afternoon at his Florida home, thanks in part to
hamburgers and banana cream pie made by Taylor's wife, Becky

(02:32:04):
shout Out Becky, Becky, I was gonna ask about the
coffee a different Becky. We think we I assume you
want to tie circles, you know, tie up some loose
ends in the greater pop culture universe. You just did
boil LaVar. You are stirring up all sorts of stuff

(02:32:25):
this week, first you and Bill Belichick, and now you're
raising it even bigger scandal with the owner's wife of
the Minnesota Timberwolves and Beyonce. So the beehive might be activated.
I mean banana cream pies. That's That's all I can say.
Anything else. No, we're moving on to sense. Okay, thank you.

(02:32:48):
All right, Hey, let me tell you LaVar as a
as a warning from someone who cares for you, A
great deal. If you think Boston sports fans are tough
to deal with on social media, it's nothing compared to
the bee Hive. And I'll leave it at that. On
the floor on Saturday night, Yeah, Los Angeles Lakers without
Lebron James or Anthony Davis still one at Brooklyn by

(02:33:11):
twenty five golf Padecki, Mazza Yama, four shot Leado, Xander Shockley,
Mark Leashman, Justin Rose, will Zella, Torus at eleven underpart
Overall Mazza Yama teeing off the final route of the
Masters at two forty eastern. Back to you, Michael and Lavarrez.
I check Lavarres mentions out of concern from my friend
and colleague. Yeah, right now, it's just people sending us

(02:33:32):
stuff about the thunder Cats. Hey discover matches. All the
cash back you earn on your credit card at the
end of your first year. It's amazing because discovers accepted
at of places in the US that take credit cards.
A little more discovered dot com slash Yes based on
a one Nielsen report. Limitations do apply now. I've always

(02:33:53):
like in the lebron James, head down into the lane
and I will run you over. Ball hand ling as
reminiscent of what Clyde Drexler did once upon a time. Right,
you pushed the ball down in front of you. Your
head is down like you're you're going through the B gap.
How about Zion Williamson and his current body structure coming

(02:34:13):
at you as a point guard thirties fifteen and eight
in a win over the Sixers on Friday, Lonzo ball
has been hurt, so more opportunity for Zion to work
there and he's running more point, Well, we want to
get him some more experience at that spot going forward,
because I think that's where the future is for him
in this game. I really do. That's what he told
the New Orleans Times. Pick a Une six seven and

(02:34:37):
listed at two eight four five a game. He's at
a ridiculous um the streak right now of twenty point
games in a row. I mean, he's just been unstoppable
to that point when you when you look at just
scoring the basketball, um uh, straight games for him. But

(02:34:58):
the idea that he's now running point is pretty frightening
if you're an opposing defender trying to body up Zion
is is changing the way I view him. I was
not as high on him as so many people are.
I'm still I'm still reluctant because I'm just wondering, is

(02:35:23):
he is this sustainable? You know, the grueling grind of
how long the seasons are, and you know everything that
goes into being a pro. I just I don't know, man,
I just I just found myself being such a skeptic
of of him. But you know, the cool thing about

(02:35:45):
athletics and the cool things about sports is that no
one can dictate to you what your outcomes are but you.
And and so zion Is is playing like a grown man.
He's playing like the player that they talked about coming
out of high school, the player that that they saw
at Duke. He's playing like a man child in a

(02:36:07):
man's game, you know. And and at the at a
man's level. I should say not a man's game, because
women play as well, but what I meant was at
at a man's level. So it's just, you know, it's
it's mind boggling to think that you see Lebron James
do the things that he has done, and then now
you see the next generation of of what what that

(02:36:29):
could be in Zion, which in football we continue to
say bigger, stronger, faster. I mean, you know, I came
out of came out of college at six three two
forty five to forty seven and ran a four four
five forty at my my pro day. Then you get
all these years later and Jason Oway is six five,

(02:36:53):
two hundred and fifty five pounds uh running a four
three six. Michael Parsons is six three running four three
four three nine. It's it's it's scary to think that
athletes can continue to get bigger, stronger, faster, more explosive
um and be able to maintain it. And we're seeing

(02:37:15):
that in in Zion right now, and you know what
good for him? I mean, it's it's gonna be interesting.
Are they gonna have to eventually make the courts bigger,
make them longer? Like? What are you gonna do if
these guys keep getting bigger and stronger and faster? Could
you imagine the league being full of Kevin Durance and
Zion's and Lebron's they're all six seven six eight, six

(02:37:38):
nine plus, but play like what we historically saw smaller guys.
How they play like that's crazy. Yeah, there's something that
they gotta do something with the corner because your feet
are too long. Your feet are too long to even
fit to shoot a three from from the corner. And
I'd love to see it spread out a little bit more.
It's kind of like watching, you know, as your kids

(02:37:59):
level up in what for sport? Right right? My twelve
year old right now playing soccer. Now they're moving to
the bigger field and you're seeing how much space you
can create with and make those connections and all of
those things likewise, we want we watch Olympic hockey. There's
a beauty too. Like I love watching NHL action, there's
no question about it. And for live sports, there's nothing better. Uh,

(02:38:22):
you can fight me on that except maybe you know, WrestleMania.
Now I'm just kidding. Uh, live hockey is where it's at.
But when you get on the Olympic ice and you've
got more room to skate and you start seeing the
guys that are that excel there, right, and some of
the opportunities that that kind of fall out of a
more wide open structure for the NBA, Yeah, it would

(02:38:44):
be interesting to watch these guys with more room to
operate and with the the big bodies. Not that we
bang in the low post like we did twenty years
ago on most of these teams, right, they have court
game for most is you know, small spurts now and
again on the was a fast pace. But yeah, watching
Zion play, it's it's it's been fun to watch him

(02:39:04):
in year two. Hopefully hopeful that you know, they report
a little bit of weight loss, hopefully keeps his uh
his health about him, because he's certainly fun to watch.
And when we talk about next you want to talk
a guy about a guy with the charisma, uh and
and charm to to become one of those faces of
the league. You got one right there. He's good for
the game. He's great for the game actually, So it'll

(02:39:27):
be interesting to see how it all play. It pans out,
no question about it. Final couple of weeks of the
NBA regular season, we're expecting to get and Anthony Davis.
I always want to call him Antonio Davis like the
old Pacers forward Uh. Anthony Davis and Lebron James expected
to make their returns to the line up soon enough.
We talked a little bit earlier of their demolition of

(02:39:48):
the Brooklyn Nets from a night ago. If you missed
any part of the show coming up and in about
a half hour forty five minutes time, you'll be able
to podcast the whole thing here, Apple Podcast, Google Play,
wherever you get your audio, download and give it stars.
Oh no, not again. Oh look at that the cuts
a loose. Yeah, we're gonna find our winds coming up next,

(02:40:09):
including writing while we read our own scripts. People, let's
do it. Let's go out and be brilliant today. Fox
Sports Radio. That is right, Fox Sports Sunday the thunder
Cuts winning. Yeah, silver has partly real silver Hawks. Wow Yeah,

(02:40:40):
high notes here on a Sunday morning. Not even gonna
try to imagine way to do it to hit that
in that note. Listen the extra tight Andy's listen to
that guitar. That's one of the silver Hawks plan that guitar. Yeah,
he had a cowboy hat on. I forget his name,
but it is what it is. But that's how I'm

(02:41:00):
playing that guitar. Just so y'all know, don't your eighties
cartoon history on Fox Sports Radio one of many endeavors
to resurrect these and and other cartoons have bygone era.
At LaVar Arrington on Twitter, at King of the Mammals

(02:41:22):
on Instagram. You find me over at Swollen Dome. We're
keeping an eye on the masters. Uh now about two
hours away from the leaders. Uh teeing off Matsiyama eleven
under par four stroke lead to begin the day. We'll
get into that as we as the day goes on
here on Fox Sports RADI you got Rich and Steve
coming up here next in about ten minutes time. But

(02:41:44):
first we gotta do a little of this flocker room squabbles,
struggling teens, cheaters and no account owners. There's so much
negativity in sports that it can ruin your day. But
not Mike hard Matter piece here to shine a light
on the good in sports. The simple mantra wins good

(02:42:05):
your winds. Yes, he's retired this theme, Bobby Rude, Uh, temporarily,
you know, because they teamed him up. So they're finding
something that they can agree on. But it's really iconic. Uh,
celebrating WrestleMania Night one, Bianca bell Air Press slamming all
over the place, Sasha Banks, you want to talk about

(02:42:26):
putting on a show. I enjoyed it. I was like
a little kid again this past year. For many during
the pandemic, what do you do? You went back to
creature comforts. You went and found the old movies and
comic books, trading cards. Maybe you bought into the Undertakers
and f t s yesterday that's sold out quickly. Maybe
you're creating them of of your own. I don't know,

(02:42:46):
but the excitement abounds as we got night to coming up,
and I always celebrate Shane McMahon getting into the squared
circle and being willing to, you know, be thrown off
the top of cages. Where you have those scary moments
of this is gonna end really badly. I want to
give a little credit though, Bad Bunny and Damian Priest

(02:43:06):
against them is and John Morrison. You want to talk
about a celebrity that obviously put in the work to
go and do this thing. He was great, fantastic match.
I remember meeting John Morrison when he was doing indie
wrestling and he was wearing a T shirt that said
Boon the Bounty Hunter, an indie movie that he did.
And I'd seen some of the independent wrestling and we

(02:43:28):
saw him at an airport and I said, hello, who
would who would? Who would know? Four years later, this
is one of the guys in one of the premier
matches a night wan of WrestleMania, and I said hello,
and I said hello, I was fast. I was with
the kids. They were a little scared. Why is daddy
talking to random people in the Airpang, it's crazy, but
Sasha Banks, Bianca bell Air giving us a treat. Jacob

(02:43:51):
deGrom for time had ten or more strikeouts in a
game the metsroly and twenty two, which means he needs
to find wins here on Fox Sports Radio because he
ain't getting him there. Yeah, last Sunday night, I got
to go to the ballpark. I went to White Sox Angels,
and though it was a terrible final experience, a very
weird game show. Heyo, TONI. Homer pitched well, uh, then

(02:44:15):
got hurt. He's fine, he's been back in the lineup
and and mashing. But we we got in and out
of the stadium quickly. Like the Angels hit a walk
off Homer Jared wash Walsh with the uh, the big blow,
and I just shook my head going it had to
end that way. But it was good to get back
at the ballpark, to have the roar of the crowd,
some of the interaction players screaming at at the kids,

(02:44:37):
you know as they're asking for balls and and being
smart Alex with him. So that was all fun and good.
So good to be back there. So as we we
smartly reopened and you get back to the creature comforts
taking a ball game as you can and remember, uh,
you only live once. And finally, I want to give
credit because we talked about interviews and we're talking about
social media and coaching folks up a little bit earlier

(02:45:01):
in the show of our here's Brooks kepka after well,
I'll let the cut explain it. It's your first time
not playing the weekend hot acasta. Just talk about how
disappointing that is for your disappointed you think, I yeah,
just to get here and then to play like this
is pretty disappointing. He was plus five. I could dig it.

(02:45:22):
But look, I celebrate the honest moments in media. We
did it last week with Arizona. Look, I'm not apologizing
for what I said to the team at the Women's
final four, right, I'm not apologizing for that. That's who
we are and it's a snapshot of what how we
handle our business. Likewise, Brooks kept getting new buling well

(02:45:44):
that that was going to become the quote heard around
the world, and he and he didn't hold back because
he could have edited himself very easily, and he gave
us another win. He went for effect and he got it.
There's no question about it. All Right, you go and
keep recording your ThunderCats. Let's go auditions, Okay, let's go.
Let's get it. On January B B, D, O and
