Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports. Oh, let's go, stinking genius,
let's go. Let's go Pike, let's go. How's your weekend?
You have good weekend, had a great weekend. It was
nice out here. We had our one week at summer
here in Vermont back to the winter now, so it
was very nice. It was very So you get, like,
(00:22):
what a couple of days of mid seventies or or
upper sixties, and that's your summer and we go crazy,
we take our shirts off, go out for a run,
um and then we get ready for the snow all
over again. So that's got you. I got you, well,
a lot of stuff. You get to man a fun night.
We have the Masters wrap up. We've got NBA drama,
which was the Masters this weekend. I was listening to
(00:45):
Jonas before we came on, and I figured you were
gonna sit here and brag about how great the Masters.
I watched a little bit of it. I watched it. Yeah,
I watched it today. I I got a confession to make. Yeah,
I didn't watch a single stroke today, a single hole.
Didn't watch anything. I like yesterday's telecast a lot better.
Oh yeah, why is that? Because when they went to
(01:08):
rain the way I can see Tiger play cheered a
couple of years ago. Yeah, no, now, in full, in
all fairness, I I was busy, Arnie, doing man's work,
which was jumping on the to oh zero turns. So
I listened to a lot of it and mow the
yard like uh, I don't know, like we do here
(01:29):
in rural America, but I gotta I gotta be honest
with you. I'm not somebody who constantly needs drama in
in sports to be entertained. I don't need all. Gosh,
we got three holes to go and there's eight guys
with now that's great, and and that's gonna have me
on the edge of my seat. But I mean, hey,
you had a winner that broke through some barriers and
(01:50):
the decimats Yama, we had the Masters at its normal time.
I'm just I just everyone that was hating on this,
and and again I didn't sit and watch it. I
listened to the whole thing today, which might actually be
worse than watching right, But I'm just I'm telling you, Arnie,
we don't need drama. We don't need If Tiger was
in first place five five strokes, I would have been
all into it, so, um, I don't need any drama
(02:12):
on that. Just give me Tiger and I would have been, fine, Well,
you're you're probably not gonna get Tiger again, so then
God's probably not gonna get me again. Dan, I'm just wondering.
Have we seen the last of Arnie Spaniard in golf
for the time being? We we brought this up last night.
I mean, think about all the great sports when I
(02:33):
was growing up that that were like people would watch
or listen to. No longer round boxing, men's got tennis,
women's tennis in the five hundred, uh, the Master, I
mean they're still around. Let me tasting men's and women's
tennis used to be like a ratings bonanza. We I
mean it was. It was a big thing back then.
(02:54):
Now it's jeezus nothing. We don't even bring it up
once there's a controversy. See well, I don't even know
if we bring it up if there's a contract anymore.
Do you know? Do you know who I blame, Barnie.
It's it's interesting that you brought this up, seeing that
now that we mentioned the Masters, and we've got some
NBA to get to in a bad call in baseball,
let's see Matt Verdon Rams coming up on our next
(03:15):
segment of Talk NFL. You're gonna kick out on Draft
hour or two. I've gotten my NFL Draft Talk that
we're gonna get into to kick off hour. Todd Ferman's
coming on and Talk. It's all the NFL's fault, and
I'm not complaining about it. I'm an NFL fan. It's
all I want to talk about. But it's dominating the
news cycle. I mean, I jump on Twitter before the
show gets started, and you're, for some reason, eight hours
(03:37):
before the show starts promo of this show, aren't. I
want to make people make sure we're engaged early, But
I just I see Jadavian Clowney's trending. Why is he trending?
Because we're so thirsty for any type of NFL news
right now. There's a report from I think it was
who Josiah Anderson that said, by the way, she's been
(03:59):
money through out this free agent cycle. Who said, ah,
they the Browns are trying to set up another visit
with Jadavian Clowney. Well, that's all over my feed more
than Adaki Matziyama or anything. A lot side of people
complaining about the call at the end of the Braves
Phillies game. I mean, the the NFL offseason has just
I mean, my gosh, Arenie, it's it's the it's the
(04:20):
greatest show in sports right now. Now. Diehard golf fans.
You know, I'm a die hard NASCAR fans, So in
the Daytona five hundreds going on, I don't understand why
people sk all over it. But the diehard golf fans
are like, wait, I love their in and and and
the shot making. Yes, I get that, I understand it.
But if you're too basically outside of your boys, tune
(04:40):
into any sports radio show on Fox Sports Radio, and
we cover this thing all week and long. It's not
going to be the major league conversation I think, Aren'tie.
I could be wrong, but I don't think it's gonna
be driving sports outside of the golf die hards. And
you've got the Golf channel for that too, So go
tune in. No exactly, And and again, you know, we
want Tiger, we want controversy or we want something that
(05:02):
has a uh, you know, a great finish to it.
And if we don't get that, we really don't care.
Like I said, um, all the sports that we used
to watch growing up or listen to It's Gone by
the Wayside and all of them too. In the ind
five throwing there fight the Kentucky Derby, Um, you know,
the the best two minutes of more. It's okay, I'll
be tuned in for that one. Um, all this stuff boxing,
(05:25):
remember heavyweight boxing. Even before Mike Tyson, heavyweight boxing was
was humongous. But um, people no longer care about sports
like that. We're we're in the two things. There's there's
football and then there's football. So that that's that's pretty
much where we're at right now. It's football, football and football.
But let us go ahead here in our first second, Arnie,
(05:46):
and try to shoehorning a couple of shoehorn in a
couple of hot topics here first and foremost. What's going
on with Kyrie Irving and the nets right now? I mean,
it makes I just want to say this, am I
supposed to go ahead and rip him and then we
out later on that he had some serious problem, which
I don't believe anyway, by the way, you know he's missing,
but this is the third go round or the fourth
(06:07):
go around, and that he's got personal reasons Um, look,
is it our business? I don't know. Maybe not the
first time. When when you're doing it two times, three times, Um,
it's getting ridiculous and nobody calls him down. I I
don't understand. It's absolutely insane that somebody could just say,
I haven't got personal reasons. I'm not gonna play for
(06:28):
like two, three, four or five a week. Um, I'd
be fired if I told my I got some personal
reasons taking a couple of weeks off and stuff. And
it's ridiculous. I don't I'm scratching my head. I don't
know what to say about this. Well, if if if
you did it once, I think you'd be fine. If
if if one time Arnie Spanier came up and said
he Scott need a couple weeks off. I gotta get
(06:49):
my head right. My takes aren't hot enough. I need
to go get go to the lab and get a
little angry. I gotta come up with a the Buccaneer
should sign Ryan Fitzpatrick to a lifetime contract, or that
Khalil Mack will never get traded. I need some time,
you know, if that's if that's you know, one week,
two weeks, whatever it is, arete this is like the
second occasion this season, and I'm sorry, third occasion this season.
(07:12):
And trust me, man from someone who probably if he
was ever tested, is clinically insane talking about myself. I
understand the need for mental health and awareness, but I mean,
am I being shortsighted if I say we're playing basketball here?
We're not? But it is say personal reasons or family
personal reasons. Again, I get that, and that's that's a
(07:35):
completely different world, completely different world, and I think there's
a certain part of it that has to that has
to be understanding of that. But one I'm seeing stuff
that it's because shrewder triggered him last night. I mean,
that's I mean, if that's the case, if that's what
this is about, then I think there's a whole other
conversation to be had. But if it is family, you
(07:57):
know how many times away that he's not gonna get
he's not going anywhere. I'm very sympathetic to that plight.
But I mean, is this just a team that finally
is gonna be together for the playoffs and expect to
flip that switch. I mean, they've got enough good players,
But I mean, what does playing together matter? I don't
think it matters all that much. I mean, there are
three superstar veterans out there, so I think they can
(08:19):
flip the switch. I I just you know, you think
about the time that he's missing, and you're saying to yourself,
are you serious? And you know when when is it
going to end? Um? What about this? What about his teammates?
What do they think? Or do they just not say
anything because he's the leader of the team. I I've
never seen anything like this. How come he's doing one
in the NBA that has to his time like this
(08:40):
three different times for personal reasons. I I mean, my goodness,
I bet you if you said you're not getting paid
for all the time you miss, I bet you have
a different tune if he was gonna take all that
time off. So will dive into this a little bit
deeper as the show rolls on. I I kind of though,
there is a part of me that, having watched the
Nets play quite a bit this year, I do think
(09:03):
we're on a collision court for a Nets Lakers finals.
And I know that you're you're sounding the alarm a
little bit for the Lakers. UM. I get that, I
understand it. But they're two best players are not even
on the court right that I was. I was listening
the other night. I don't remember who it was, and
I expected more out of dinner Shrewder. I'm like, well,
Dennis Shrewder didn't come to the Lakers to carry the load.
He came to the point guard where you could dish
(09:24):
to Anthony Davis and Lebron James and if you put
it on his shoulders. I watched him at the Thunder
last year. It's not gonna work. So just everyone chill
out a little bit. I think it's gonna be okay
in l A. What would you we'd be saying right
now it was Lebron James that said he's taking the
third time off for personal reasons, or if it was
James harden Um that said that I'm taking three days
(09:46):
off for the are three times off for that I did,
they'd be getting drilled. Actually we do the whole three
hours on that. It's like, what's wrong? Where's your metal toughness?
I just you know that there's a part of me, Arnie,
and and you know how I fall for everything that's
on the interne at. I mean, we're what about four
weeks removed from me falling for a horrific photoshop from
my man East Bay, Chris, where I thought Russell Wilson
(10:07):
had shown up at a u c l A game
in the San Francisco, Fornia nine ercuity. So I fall
for a little bit of everything. So maybe I fall
a little bit whenever people are like he's he's soft,
he's having issues with with the way people are talking
to him on the court. If there's really something going
on with his family, I I can't question that, right,
But at what point, if you're the nets, do you say, hey,
(10:27):
just shut it down and get this fixed, right or what?
And I and and again that sounds that sounds so
shortsighted to say get it fixed, because maybe it is
something that rears its head. Maybe he's dealing with someone
in his family. That's probably I don't know, I don't want. Okay,
let's let's go ahead and take it from his point
of view. Let's say it is something serious. Let's say
he does have personal problems or personal family problems. Well,
(10:50):
step away from the game. That that's what I was doing.
What I'm trying to get to take take the No, nothing,
nothing is more important than your personal health or or
your family. Take to the rest of the year off
like like so many players did over the last year
because of COVID. How many players opted out in football baseball? Um,
I mean it was a tons of them. So take
(11:10):
the rest of the year off and and and worry
about next year then all right. The other big story
is Major League Baseball instant replay, which I feel has
failed us again. Though this ends up becoming a little
back and forth. What did you think of the final
play in the Phillies break? Why the final play in
the top of the ninth inning that ended up leading
to the Phillies taking lead and holding onto the win.
(11:33):
But I I felt like he never touched the play.
I felt like the and and we'll play the play
by play call coming up here in just a bit.
But are we watching another situation where instant replay has
failed the game? I I didn't think he touched either,
but I couldn't be sure. I certainly couldn't be a
hundred percent sure in real time. UM, I have to
see it in super slow moo to think that I'm right.
(11:56):
I'd probably bet that I'm right, but I'm not a
hundred percent sure that I'm so. I I'm not gonna
make a big deal about it. The reason we're making
a big deal because it was on Sunday night. It
was the top of the ninth. I guess we haven't
really had too much on the field that's you had
in your notes for the show tonight, anything that's really
kind of surprised us, or any anything that's really kind
(12:17):
of caught your eye in baseball this year. And I realized, Yeah,
it's kind of like the NBA. The off the field
drama has ended up being what we talked about more.
You know, this doctor baseball conversations taking place, and now
you know, kind of looking at a few calls and
getting upset. I mean, we're we're still very early in
the game, aren't so. I guess now it's almost as
if we're getting back to normal a little bit, whenever
(12:38):
we're watching a game and I'm seeing stuff thrown on
the field and we're able to fight about a bad
call as opposed to saying, yeah, isn't it just great
there's a game going? Yeah. You know, I wasn't ready
for and I don't know why I wasn't ready for
the backlash against the Astros. I thought we were already
passed that with the fifty game season. I'm like, Okay,
that's it. You know they're not gonna say the about
(13:00):
the cheating scandal um. And we just picked it up
right where we left off. I mean, was hey, let's uh,
let's let's start right there again. So you know they
have no problem the fans with that. Yeah, you gotta
love it. Hey, Discover matches all the cash back you
earn on your credit card at the end of your
first year. It's amazing because discovers accepted at places in
the US that take credit cards. Learn more at discover
(13:21):
dot com. Slash yesson port report limitations apply. All right,
So we hit the Masters, we hit the Kyrie controversy,
we hit Major League Baseball umpire. Have I done enough
other sports to make everyone happy to where I can
just talk NFL the rest of you didn't get to
the frozen fourth championship. But I think other than that,
you're you're pretty much covered everything. Well, you know what,
maybe that's that's that's later in the show. By the way,
(13:42):
later in the show, did you see the article I
sent you about the drunkest fans in the NFL and
the fans that are the highest Uh. In the NFL. Yeah,
I got questions about Yeah, I got questions because I
don't think I'd be honest if someone asked that question.
But we'll figure out who's the drunkest in highest fan
base on NFL Sundays, and that's what It's the same
(14:03):
team in the same city, and we'll dive into it
as the show rolls on. Matt Verde ms next on
Fox Sports Radio. Ah, yes, d mx R I P.
We'll get into that coming up as the show rolls on.
But as we talked about in the first segment, it's
gonna be an NFL Draft heavy show tonight. In NFL
in general heavy show tonight with Arnie Spanier the Stinkingenius.
(14:24):
I'm Chris Plank Bobo on the Wheels of Steel, Legal
Lapp running the show, and of course Steve de Seger
on updates. And right now we're joined by our buddy
Matt Verde, m national NFL reporter for a fan sided,
credible follow on Twitter. Uh Matt, okay, let's just real
quick hit the big trending topic this afternoon, and that
was the future of Jadeveon Clowney, which again, it's still
wild to me that he's still available. But then again,
(14:46):
it's still wild to me how unproductive he's been in
his last few stops. Is he worth taking a flyer
on for a team? And do you see him ending
up in in Cleveland? Probably? I mean Cleveland and have
been doing the stands for a few years now. Is
it worth a one year fire and a minimal cost? Yeah,
it worth anymore than that. Um, If jend Eton Clowney
(15:07):
wants the twelfth overall pick in the draft, nobody ever talked.
And that's not And it's not because he's not like
a decent player. He's good against the run, he gets pressures,
but he's he's not Is he like he he? That
doesn't Carl Lawson, No, he's probably not. And yet, like
(15:27):
we talk way more about the internet Clowney than we
do about Carl Lawson. Um, he's had injury histories, injury
history rather and look, he's never had ten sacks in
the season. If the Cleveland kick the tires one year,
five nights, sure, but I think that's I think it's
what it will be. I think at this point, nobody
that's still out there is getting more than a one
year deal. You know, Matt when San Francisco went up
(15:50):
to number three. I said, no way, they're doing this
to get back Jones. It's not going to happen. And
now that we sit here a couple of weeks later,
I'm thinking to myself, maybe I'm wrong, Maybe they really
are moving up to get back Jones. I find it
hard to believe. But um, I think just the Fields
would have been the better fit. There are they taken
back Jones at number three. I think it's foolish to
say yes or no definitively, but I will say this,
(16:13):
I think it's certainly in play. It seems like it's
the smart bet at this point. Um. And look, I think,
whenever you you wonder with these things, take a take
a peek at the odds in Vegas. In Vegas knows
Vegas doesn't lose, like the overwhelming odds right now, or
the mac Jones is gonna be that pick, Um, And
(16:34):
I think, look, you know, I don't love it. I
I believe it Fields as well. I think Fields would
be a great pick there. I think it'd be great.
Shanahan's offense. Lands is interesting. That is, you don't want
to go that route with Lance mull stool kid played
one game basically two years, because you know they didn't
play but one game in in uh last last season season.
(16:56):
So I get that Jones put up great numbers. I
think the question is just how much do you put
into that when you figure he played behind the best
offensive line of college with four first round wide receivers
with Nick Schafan in the head coach. I mean, you
watch his take. It's a seven on seven practice. There's
there's nobody here. Him and guys are wide open. But
(17:19):
if the Niners are gonna make that move, they'd better
be right, because that's one of those things capital and
you've taken a popular player. If that doesn't work, that's
an everybody's fired kind of mistake. Matt Verdram's in the
house senior NFL national NFL reporter for Fansided, senior in
my book, even though he's a young dude. You had
the retweet of the Jeremy Shap outside the lines partying shot,
(17:41):
and I'm always fascinated by this. The NFL teams, they're
never gonna change though, right. I mean, whenever we're thinking
that quarterbacks are gonna go one to three in this draft,
I bet if we looked ahead. Next year quarterbacks gonna
go number one, and probably the year after that. But
over the last fifteen years, quarterbacks have gone in the
top ten. And as you wrote, only I am Mahomes
and Cam Newton have been First team All pros. Mahomes
(18:03):
is the only Super Bowl only champion to start in
the Super Bowl. Why why don't we say, all right, well, listen,
let's wait on the quarterback, let's build our offensive line.
Is everyone trying to get their Mahomes? Is there a Mahomes?
Is um now pretty much in the in the NFL.
I don't even know that it's because in the hall.
I just think the league the last fifteen years. And
I wrote that piece on Tuesday. I went deep on
this and I went back to those six because it's
(18:24):
fifteen years and nice claimed break. Um. I just think
if you and the audience for members about twenty years ago,
there's a playoff game with Belichick in the past, and
they played the Colts in Peyton, Manny and they mugged
Indianapolis the entire game in the playoffs, I mean just
bugged them. Ended up going on away this Group Bowl,
and that only a lot of people out of the
(18:45):
cold organization complained they could plain it, complained about ridiculously
cancel the ball, and the NFL liberalized the passion game.
Since then, numbers have gone insane. In the past, of course,
goals have continued to trend that way. I think teams
just look at it and say, if we don't have
a pop six to eight quarterback, we have a chance.
(19:07):
I mean, you know what's gonna get that funky weird
era like Joe Flacco sneaks in there and win. Those
years are so few and far between. Do you need
to have Brady, you need to have up the home,
you need to have Aaron Rod. You're just not going
to win consistently. You're Russell Wilson another guy. And I
look at it and when I wrote that piece, Yes,
like as you mentioned, with twenty nine guys top ten
(19:29):
picks over the last sixte years of quarterback. Out of
those twenty nine are they quizzically nineteen of them have
been fawn Thus not like average players, not not the
Ryan Tannehills in the world. Guys were terrible, like Matt Liner.
And so if if you're a team like the Niners,
when you're training up, here's another guidance interesting. It just
(19:51):
goes all the way back to the way we do
the draft out of common, the AFL and NFL. Burke,
go back and look at every draft. You are hard
press to find the draft for there are two franchise
quarterbacks taken in the top ten text. I would suggest
there's only been two years nineteen seventy one Archie Manning
and Jim Plunkett and two thousand four Rivers and Manning.
(20:13):
That's it. And it's not even there's not even an
argument for any other year. Wow, you know, Matt LaVar
Ari Inton on our network said, even thinking maybe Belichick
is on the hot seat, Boy, it's not what you've
done for me, what you've done for me late Waite. Uh,
he get come into this year, which is cam Newton.
Do they get another veteran? Do they really trade up
to number four or number five? Can they make a
(20:35):
move in Atlanta? I don't know what they've got to
get themselves a quarterback? What are the Patriots gonna do?
First of all, I don't think Belichick is going anywhere
unless he just decides if he wants to go fishing, right,
I don't think. I don't think it's happening but looks
David options, you can always trade a bushel of picks
and get up before Atlanta is going to have its
(20:56):
phone line burning. I think Denver is gonna be the tracks.
Denver nose block has struggled mightily his first two years.
You can let the league interceptions last year and only
played thirty games, And they're in a division with Herbert
who looks horrific and Mahomes in the Chiefs. If you
don't have a top five quarterbacks, you're you're never winning
that division. So I think Denver is gonna be anybody's
(21:19):
main competition to get up there and get that quarterback.
But I look at New England and I just keep thinking,
at some point it's gonna come across the ticket that
they traded for Garoppolo. That's just the Niners can sit
there all day and say, hey, we're gonna take whoever,
let's say mac Jones, and we're gonna be fine with
Garoppol being that that's nonsense. They traded three top one
(21:41):
hundred picks, including two first rounders. You're gonna tell me
if the pass call up and say, hey, we'll give
you our first round pick. If the Niners aren't going
to take that. They would take that in two seconds.
And I just think that for Belichick, you're bringing a
guy who knows your system, who he really liked, who
worked with McDaniels. I think if you're if you're the
to far prefer doing that then giving up a bunch
(22:03):
of future picks for a rookie who's going to be
at best the fourth best prospect of quarterback in this draft.
Final thought, Um, do we expect it to be now
kind of quiet before the draft or will we get
to Sam Donald deal or something that will surprise us?
You think midweek? I mean, what are we less than
three weeks away from the NFL Draft? So I mean
(22:23):
do you expect to be quiet until then or do
you think it's gonna stay active? Ivan Garoppol is gonna
get traded that a couple of weeks because because if
you're the Niners waiting, does you know good? Like once
you get past the draft, then it becomes a situation
like what happens if next year he just doesn't play
like he gets beat out by whoever. The rookie is. Okay,
(22:46):
that's great, the rookie is good, but now he has
no value or very little value going forward, and if
he plays, he gets hurt again. He's had a lot
of injuries in his career that only tanks his value.
More like your San Francisco, you're gonna move you now.
You want to move him in the next couple of weeks,
and then the other got to watch. Although I don't
know that there's quite the urgency because he's not seen
seen the same light. Maybe it is Bridgewater. You know,
(23:08):
did Bridgewater gets traded? I think you know, if you're Carolina,
you're not gonna get a first for him, like I
think the dis will for Garoppolo. So maybe it's more
of a hey, look, if we get were like great.
If not, you know, we can keep Bridgewater around and
trade him in the summer. Somebody gets hurt. But I
think Garoppolo is the guy to really watch him in
Bridgewater shirt like, well eighteen days can't wait, Matt. We
(23:31):
really appreciate your time and staying up late with us. Man.
We'll talk to you again soon and keep up the
great work over and over fan side it it's just
incredible stuff. Man, your articles have been on point. I
really appreciate him. Hey, thanks all appreciate it. Thanks. Yeah,
in fact, I was just reading to prepare for tonight's game.
Tonight's game tonight show how the Saints are looking at
Kyle Trask as their potential replacement for Drew Brees. Yeah,
(23:53):
but that's like a third round pick, second round pick. Yeah,
still though, I mean, how many quarterbacks are the Saints
gonna have? You gonna have a eight on their foster?
Would all said? Done? All right? Steve the Seger has
this an update on everything that's going on in the
world of sports. Wass trending Steve, Hello, gentlemen. The NFL
Draft does start April twenty nine. The Browns will reportedly
meet with free agent pass rushers at Abbey and Clowney tomorrow.
(24:14):
Wide receiver Taylor Gabriel retired after six years in the league.
Former running back Eddie George will become the new head
football coach at Tennessee State. Well, Hadeki Matsuyama won the
Masters by one stroke. Martin truex Jr. Took NASCAR's Cup
race at Martinsville, and there was a controversial end to
the top well not at the end of the top

ball game seven six Phillies. The final sack Fly did
the trick to give him the ninth inning lead, a
controversial safe call at home and not overturned after video review.
The guy who scored the winning run said, well it
was called safe. That's all that matters. Quite a relief, exactly.
Comments from a writer at the Athletic talking to the
Brave starting pitcher Drew Smiley said, we have five dif
(25:00):
for an angles on a nationally televised game, and it's
clear that the runners foot did not touch the plate. End. Quote. Meanwhile,
catcher for the Bres, Travis Darnault, on weather decisions like
this tonight caused him to lose faith in the replay
system in baseball. Quote absolutely, it makes me not even
wanted anymore. Honestly, it just slows the game down. It
took five minutes for them to decide that, and to me,
(25:23):
yeah yeah, but stay tuned. Later that same season, the
Dodgers and Clayton kershaw Be Washington and Max Scher's are
three nothing. Washington's lost five in a row. Angels versus
Toronto rained out in Florida, Miami at the Mets rained
out Yankees one in ten innings at Tampa Bay eight four,
Kansas City one intend innings at the White Sox for three.
(25:43):
Boston won at six straight game fourteen nine at Baltimore J. D.
Martinez three home runs, and Seattle one at Minnesota on
a three run homer top of the ninth, eight to six.
The long ball his second of the day from Kyle Seeger,
who went four for four four urbis for the Mariners. Guys.
We have two late games in the NBA, one of
them in l A. The Clippers are shooting seventy one
(26:05):
percent from the floor and losing to the Detroit Pistons
eight four seventy seven, about six minutes to go in
the third, I thought the same thing. Clippers do have
eleven turnovers, Pistons only six, Detroit shooting close to six
from the floor. It is now eighty six seventy seven
Detroit mid third quarter. Miami leads at Portland's in the
(26:27):
third seventy six to sixty two. Earlier. San Antonio got
the game winning shot in the final second from Damar
de Rosanie at thirty three points and Spurs win at
Dallas one seventeen. New Orleans picked up thirty eight points
from Zion Williamson and a comeback win at Cleveland, won
sixteen to one oh nine. Boston had a late run
of thirty one to three at Denver and beat the

Nuggets one oh five eighty seven, ending Denver's eight game
winning streak and in the NHL, while Buffalo one at
Philadelphia today five three. Washington a winner at Boston tonight
eight one. The final that would be Hockey eight to
one once again. The Masters winner, Hideki matsu Yama, the
first man from Japan to win a Major, made his
(27:08):
Master's debut a decade ago and was low amateur that year.
Matsu Yama the past three years had not finished in
the top ten at a major. Closest he had come
to taking a major was seventeen, when he tied for
second at the US Open. He won at Augusta today,
led by six at one point on the back nine
back to you keep your eye on the telephone in
case Steve Kerk calls. You know you may want to
(27:32):
talk to me about the coaching job. I believe that's
a sentence that's been said for two three years in
a row on something decade. I think it's a decade.
I think we're going on like two decades. You think
he might tonight? You never know? And what makes you
say that? Yeah? I thought you may want to discuss
the Arizona opening with you hired someone? Well, not yet?
(27:54):
Are you the booster that pays for the Arizona players?
Are you the guy? Aren't? Wow? I'm trying to convince
Kurt to take it really kind of things, are you know?
If you're really being smart about I could probably talk
a bit to taking it. Come on, Steve O, it's
your retirement job. That owner of the Warriors is kind
of stepping on down. Steph Curry will go to the
Lakers soon. Come on, Stevo, come on, and what's left
(28:17):
of the Warriors? You can obviously say, by the way,
the rookie first rounder James Wiseman torn meniscus in the
knee last night, we'll go to We'll go to Greasy
Tony's every night. Only Arnie would be celebrating the injury
of James Wiseman Arizona. It's what it sounds like to me,
That's what it sounds I wants. Stevo. Luke Walton's already
(28:40):
turned this down. I want an Arizona guy. Only Arizona
guy coaches Arizona go hil What way isn't Miles Simons somewhere,
David st Josh pass everybody. Do you know Josh passionate
Josh Passner would be great at Arizona? He really would,
I do. I don't think they're gonna hire and then
Luke Walton can joe him as soon as he was
(29:01):
the Sacramento jobs. That's true. Did you just say Josh
Pastor loves you? Yeah? He loves He loves everybody, dude.
He has no standards whoever. He's one of my favorite
guys I've ever talked to in my life. So when
you say he loves you, I'm just you know, it's
it's I'm making sure you understand it. He likes everyone,
and that's why I think I think it'd be great.
(29:21):
Is there any buzz? Did Tours have any scoop? Last night?
It was who's the guy the assistant over to Gainsaga? Yeah,
you know that's I guess that's the front runner. And um,
I don't know why he hasn't been hired yet. A
matter of fact, that's what Tours was kind of saying,
and it seems like there's been reports about him, um
being the front runner. But Tommy Lloyd, right, is that
(29:42):
you're talking about? Yeah, yeah, that's right, because I mean
Mark fuse kind of got a Chris Beard thing going
where he's got like eighty six different coaches on his bid.
I'm open for Phil Jackson, but well, you know you can.
Even the Spokane newspaper tonight says Tommy Lloyd considered the
front runner. Wow, what are you gonna do if he
turns down Arizona to stay as an assistant at Gonzaga,
(30:03):
that will go after Mark Field. Jason Terry, there you go.
Where is Jason Terry? Now there's a name from the past.
He's on staff st Yeah, he's he's an assistant at Arizona. Yeah.
Oh you gotta you gotta blow that whole staff out, Dude,
You've got to start from scratch. Jason. Appreciate all your
(30:25):
things you've done for Arizona. You're incredible. One of the
best playoff performances we've ever seen with the MAVs. Now,
get we gotta start this thing new here. Man, you
go sitting your sweet enjoy the game. Just start. Got
to get Stevo gotta get Stevo. I don't I think
you're I think you I could call him Stevo, you
call him Mr Kerr wishing in one hand and something
in the other. I'll google that analogy. They're not going
(30:48):
to be in the n c A tournament for a
while anyway, got back. It really doesn't matter who they get. Initially,
no good luck. They're charged with five settled in thrashings.
We set right, you say, we volunteered to stay out
of the tournament. That takes care of everything, right and
(31:08):
stew that's right, and our coach, well, it took you
long enough. It kind of reminds me of you know
that that time when Castanza quit his job and then
showed back up and there right, it's like, we didn't
go this year, so we will will just show up.
That's actually a famous story from Larry David that of
course helped create Seinfeld. He had was a Saturday Night
(31:29):
Live write of years ago and got so ticked off
at the show or either they dropped one sketchy wrote
or something like that. He stormed off the set during
a Saturday Night Live. So that's it, I quit, I'm
out of here. And then he thought about it over
the weekend. Of course, it was a Saturday night show,
and he thought that was stupid, and so he just
showed up to work the next week and hope that
(31:49):
nobody would remember. And somebody actually did, walking past pause
and kind of point to him and said, didn't you
guess what? And he just kept going about his business.
Get away with it. That's what your your wildcats are
trying to do. They don't they They say they're out
and then they're gonna show up next year. Will Myers
asked a very good question on Twitter outside of the
Raiders conversation. He asks, you're the only Arizona guy in Vermont? Yes, yes,
(32:15):
i am. I told you there's only four famous, three
famous people, Bernie sand There's Ben and Jerry and me.
Ben and Jerry Goal is one person. And so you
know what, I would have to disagree a little bit
because my boy Tom Brennan would be in that list, right,
the former men's basketball coach of All Right, there you going, um,
(32:36):
really good question on Twitter. As we circle back here
on Fox Sports Radio with Annie and Plank coming up
next hour, We're gonna talk to Todd Firm and he's
in Vegas Obviously we'll talk about some of the draft
odds that are out there. But I hate to kind
of hit pause and almost just break the transmission shifting
gears here, but hotly asks a very good question as
(32:58):
it pertains to Kyrie. You me, she writes, Well, I
assume how he's she I apologize if she's not about Kyrie.
You say he should just fix whatever he's dealing with.
But what if he is managing a lifelong condition or situation.
He's good enough to take time off and still be
elite and the Nets are on track for the finals anyway,
(33:18):
if he needs to take time, well, well, if it's
that important, why can't he take the rest of the
season off and deal with it, um and and not
worry about playing basketball? Uh, this is the third time
he's had to take a personal time off um in
the last couple of months. I would think, how many
more times is he gonna do this? And you know, again,
I don't want to say we don't believe him or anything,
(33:39):
but what what's the personal reason? Um? You know, because
if we start criticizing him now we find out something
very important, you know, then we're all going to look
back and look look on it and say, oh, we
feel bad about it, But I mean, how much time
can you keep taking off it doesn't happen then the
other player? Yeah, she adds, shouldn't we be supporting and
encouraging him through whatever he's going there? Right? You know what,
Let let me switched switches around. Suppose I told you, um,
(34:03):
Tom Brady needed time off in the middle of the
season to get some personal stuff done, or Patrick Mahomes
or Dak Prescott for the Cowboys or something like or
for a coach said something like that, Oh my goodness, Chris,
we we'd be talking about that for three hours. Right,
we go, Oh, my good Get you believe I coach,
Get you believe Tom Brady needs to take three games off?
(34:25):
He wouldn't believe it. Well, I hate to be literal Christmas,
but there's only sixteen NFL games. There's like eight n
b A if he just took one game off, right right,
I mean it's a little bit of a different mindset
from that perspective. I hear what she's saying that I
feel this story enrages me but also opened my mind.
(34:47):
It's it's one of the more polarizing things in my
own head because I want to see greatness. I want
to watch great players play every single game. I'm greedy,
I'm selfish. I can acknowledge that, but I also want
to be understanding to whatever he's going through. And it's
not a my business. So you know the reason I
bring this up. I don't know if this is Apple's apples,
but two Ka Rask remember last year in the playoffs,
took some time off and left the bubble, never came back.
(35:09):
But yet we found out allegedly he was on the
golf course like three days later after doing whatever you
had to deal with with with his kid. Now, I
understand you have to deal something, but get back to
the bubble and get back to your team. They'll go
be playing golf. If we catch Kyrie on the golf course.
Geez ohs good tweet when we come back. We got
more tweets to get too. Pluses. I mentioned Todd's coming
(35:30):
up and a kickoff next hour, tons of NFL Draft
nuggets as we roll on on a busy Sunday night
with Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio. So all
it's Arnie and Plank, Todd Freman coming up an hour two.
As always, were very active on Twitter during this show,
or maybe I should rephrase that we're very active in
reading your tweets. Ye can't. I can't fight with you
guys on Twitter during the show because it takes all
(35:50):
my attention away from it. Arnie can. But all you
do is like tweets. You never get into anyone. No,
I don't know. I don't I don't have time to write.
By the way, spoiler alert, I'm gonna get your out
about this. Spoiler art um wrestle Madia thirty seven, Iron
Cheek just one. So did he did? Did he beat? Um?
Bob Well whole Cogan was there tonight, So you're kind
(36:12):
of I don't know who else the beg. You must
be geeky, Yeah, you must be all into that, you know.
It's kind of funny. One of my buddies had me
on his podcast and he's like, hey, let's talk some WrestleMania,
and I had to I had to confess. I was like,
I haven't watched. I don't even know who was wrestling.
You would have been, I know, right, I have no idea.
(36:32):
In fact, so I was watching a little bit tonight
of course purchased quote unquote and it was I mean
it was cool. I saw Logan Paul getting knocked out
because wrestling is real and Kevin Owns took care of
so that's all I needed to see. But yeah, Larney,
I'm not into it. How weird is that Wrestlemane was
on in years past or Survivor series if they still
even do that or any especially Royal rumble watch them
(36:54):
all about. Yeah, it hasn't really been my that's enough.
That's enough brought up. Paul writes. Most states have mental
health laws regarding work that are in place to have
an orderly way of handling something like this. People can't
go to work and say, hey boss, having one of
those mental breakdowns. Be back in a couple of weeks
when I'm feeling it. You know, Here's here's one thing.
Just I say to put a bow on the Kyrie
(37:17):
Irving conversation. But something tells me. With the NBA, and yes,
the Nuggets have looked good. They finally lost tonight, Utah's
roll in Lakers gotta win over the nets. There's some
good storylines going on on the court, but again, as
has typified this season, most of the fun and the
NBA has been with the trades and the injuries and uh,
(37:37):
just different issues other than what's going on in the court.
I think this is gonna dominate headlines for a while.
Any of his teammates are okay with it, if his
coach is okay with it, if ownership is okay with it,
shouldn't we be okay with it? If Kyrie wants to
go away there they're okay with it now, And let
me ask you this are are they gonna be okay
with it? Um? If he has a personal reason when
it's tied to two games a piece of the best
(37:58):
of seven series in the play offs, this is your
whole scenario where you talk about getting planner fascias so
you don't have to go to like workouts and stuff,
right you don't want to. It's like, I'll be hurt
at the right time. Actually I'll be healthy at the
right time, but I'll be hurt when I don't want
to play right. Well, I mean, you know, he's he's
not gonna take any time off during the playoffs. He's
never gonna walk away. I'm gonna say, why you don't
have any problems, Um, there's no emergency during the playoffs,
(38:22):
nothing going on. Um, you know June July May June July. So, um,
but you know, if you ever tried to pull that
in the playoffs, I don't think the team would be
okay with it. I don't think his teammates would be
okay with it. Well, that's a scenario that we can
cross when we get there, but I agree with you,
I don't think it would play very well. Now. You
(38:43):
mentioned it with who the Bruins goalie that pulled out
last year. So and then we find him out on
the golf course a couple of weeks later. I'm sure
that was lightening up the phone lines up in Vermont.
But I'll tell you what, man, it's I just I
love being able to say a stupid stuff, I really
do and just just react to it and go crazy.
(39:05):
I don't know what's going on with with Kyrie your
He's the start of the season was weird because he's
kind of in i A and people are saying that
there's there's an anger about the the whole hardened attempt
to bring him in. The Next thing, you know, he
shows up in like some political zoom where he's asking
a candidate questions. Right then all of a sudden, he's
on the court and he's dominating like that was right
(39:26):
before a game too. I don't think you zoom and
and do that when right before game time, you know. So,
I just I don't know what to say. I don't
know if there's enough Brooklyn Nets fans yet. I'm sure
when they win the title, they'll come out of the woodworks,
just like all those die hard lifelong Golden State fans
who are sitting on daddy's knee watching Steph Curry when
they were growing up. But I don't know if there's
(39:49):
enough Nets fans yet to still get I right about this.
And I still feel there's that large faction are anty
that feels like there's gonna be this moment. The playoffs
are all around, they're gonna flip the switch and they're
gonna be fine. I think overall that's the theory. Hey,
we don't need him right now. He's kind of kind
of like uh Tyley was pointing out on the tweet,
we don't need him right now. We're gonna win games.
(40:09):
We're not the We don't need Lebron right now. We
don't need a d right now. We only need him
in the playoffs. Well, let's see, Uh, the first time
they start missing games, how much you're going to need them?
Uh yeah, come on, Lebron good, get good, healthy, Get healthy.
Anthony Davis, all right, when we come back, We've got
a lot to get to On the draft, is there
could there might there be a sleeper team who could
(40:33):
shock us and end up taking a quarterback in Round one?
Um or maybe even move up. Now, Arnie, I know
in Patriots country there's a lot of buzz about the
potential of the New England Patriots moving up tons, But
I'm giving you three teams with established quarterbacks who could
be on the move to draft a quarterback in the
(40:55):
first round. When we come back on Fox Sports Radio.

Middlecoff and I host the Three and Out podcast. Do
you like football? Do you like the NFL? Do you
(41:16):
like the NFL draft quarterbacks? Coaches? Well, I talked about
it all on the show. I used to work for
Andy Reid as a scout. Now I give you my
unfiltered and raw opinions on everything that goes on the NFL,
and you know we're talking college football because of how
important the draft is year round. Listen to the Three
and Out podcast with me John middlecop on the I
Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast or wherever you get your
(41:39):
podcasts our to Fox Sports Radio. Let's go. It's audience
coming up here in a bit, Todd Firm and will
join us. I don't know, Arnie, I do I want
to sit here and destroy Kyrie. You'reving, absolutely, I mean,
there was just this part of me and it's like,
let's go, man, let's play. But then I'm also I'm
trying to be sympathetic to the play. You're not really
(42:00):
and and nothing. I'm not being personally. You're really not
the reason because if it was anybody else, if this
was Lebron, we'd be ripping him. If this was Tom Brady,
we'd be ripping him. If you think we're giving Kyrie
a free pass, yes we are. Why why would get
a free pass? I don't know why. I really, I
really don't know why. I think he may be destroyed. Well,
he certainly is getting a free pass compared to all
(42:22):
the other elite athletes out there. Like I said, if
if Harden or Lebron was doing this, we'd be calling
him out left and right and saying, what's going on, Lebron,
why aren't you out there? What's your personal reasons? But
for some reason, we don't even ask Kyrie what's going on? Huh?
I I think we try. I think he's very weird,
and I mean that in the most complimentary, as complimentary
(42:42):
as it can be to call someone weird. I think
he's a little bit of a different cat and he's
a different bird, and I only he cares what we say.
But I mean, you're sitting here crushing them, Marty. Here's
somebody I do a little Kyrie Irving search on Twitter.
It's not necessarily all roses and wine. I don't know
that's even the proper analogy. But bottom line, it's not
like he's getting free pass for this right now. I
think everyone's hesitant because you know, you just don't know
(43:05):
what's going on, you know. And Bobo and I were
talking about just a bit early, you you're you hit
it on the head. It's like, yeah, this is about
the third time now that something like this has happened,
you know, And and we're still following very stringent protocols, Aren'tie.
I know the vaccinations are starting to become more omnipresent
across the NBA in every sport, but I mean, even
(43:25):
after you get vaccinated, you still have to task. Did
you know that? I did not know that. And you're
you're still wearing your masks, so I don't know. Man,
It's just you're leaving that quote unquote bubble and you're
putting people. I need to know the why here, because
it's well, if the Nuts let him have it, who
(43:48):
are we to say? Right? If you're if you just
want time off and your boss lets you have it,
we could yell and screaming, want all we want, But
if the Nets are fine with it, what are we
to do outside of bash him whenever they don't get
it done? Right? I guess that's so in a situation.
Nobody even asked Nash about what's going on? Right? Is
(44:09):
the Meatia? Even Bombardi? I'm going, what's going on here? Well?
Has any have they had any availabilities or any opportunity
to say anything since because they just played last night
and we haven't really I mean, I've I've been scouring
since this show started, anything from anyone on the nets
aren't outside of Hey, he's taking some time away, and
that's it. I mean, there's there's nothing more on it.
(44:30):
And I think that's where the that's where the frustration
lies for a lot of us, right because we just
don't know what's going on. So we'll talk more about
the nets as the show rolls on. Your thoughts at
Plank Show, at Stinking Genius one, everyone hits us up
at Fox Sports Radio. Please please please all right, let
me get a couple of tweets in here, and I
want to get some NFL draft talk. Are you drafted
out yet? You know we're eighteen days away? Could you
(44:51):
be drafted that right now? I just wanted to make sure. Uh.
Jason writes, this goes back to our conversation about the
end of the game between the Phillies and the Braves,
and I guess I keep saying the end of the game.
It was a call on the top of the ninth
inning that helped lead the Phillies that went over the Braves.
Jason writes, can we please end instant replaying sports? I
(45:13):
still don't understand why we have replay and still miss
a call. A guy gets nowhere near the plate and
it's called say it's just sad, but the met can
call the other day, but the Mets call the other
day was so much worse. Okay, I don't think that
that had nothing to do with instant replay. You weren't
allowed all you could see if he was hit, which,
(45:34):
by the way, I don't think he was hit, So
I I'm surprised they did give him. Um awarded him
first base. That was a strike. He wan didn't do it,
but that wasn't reviewable. And then from replay to just
baseball in general, Paul writes, it's time to put a
fork in Major League Baseball. It's a dying sport with
a boring product. Once the NHL is back on ESPN,
(45:56):
major League Baseball will be the fourth most important league
in America. Wow wow, Well I said, it's football and
more football. That's where we are right now. UM, what
did you think of the Trevor Bauer situation? Do you
you think Majorie Baseball is gonna find something or they're
going after him because he was outspoken about the whole thing.
I think Trevor Bauer raise your hand if you watch
(46:17):
this whole twenty three minute YouTube clip. I did Um,
I think Trevor Bauer is basically saying, we gotta find
a uniform way to say that we can be able
to scuff up or use pine tar or whatever on
the baseball. I mean, I kind of feel like I
feel like the baseball it's gonna suspend him. They're gonna
find a way to get him. He's been outspoken. I
don't know how you can prove it though, right unless
(46:39):
unless they've got every single investigator possible on this thing
that's diving into it. But again, aren'tie. Is this a
story that's good for major League Baseball? To Paul's point,
you know, baseball to dead sport. I kind of think
it's I kind of think it's something that fires people up.
To be honest with you, I think that he gets,
oh well, they're singling out bow, Well he's cheating. Oh well,
(47:02):
everyone cheats in baseball, and it's only if you're not cheating,
you're not trying. It's only cheating if he got caught, right,
and then all of a sudden the other side as well,
you shouldn't cheat the game. I think something like this
is fascinating. Am I alone in this or is this
just because it's Trevor Bauer, and he's always in the
headlines and I dig talking about him. Yeah, you're the
only one that loves this. I mean to say, Oh, Chris,
(47:23):
did you see there was a third rotation on the ball.
When Trevor Bauer pick, he's got to be doing something.
I think this is insane. I think it's ridiculous. I
can't believe that we're And by the way, how do
you know the catcher didn't have something in his hand?
That's Bower's greatest point, right, if foul ball or something.
The foul ball you can't have um because they're not
(47:45):
gonna pick up a foul ball. They're not gonna go
get one from a fan. Who knows? Are you maybe
the fan had something? Okay, then I'll tell you what.
How about if I go to the game, just smear
my hands with with pine tar and wait for me
to catch a foul ball. That'd be funny. Why would
you do that? Well, you gotta make Trevor Bauer try
to look like a cheater. Uh Okay, I'm not sitting
(48:09):
here saying I love the debate about whether or not
there's a third rotation on his curveball or whatever. I
love it whenever you have something that appears to be
a player trying to get an edge and getting called
on it kind of deflate gate desk. Now, obviously not
on the same level. We're not talking about a Super
Bowl situation, spy gate, all those things. Now, granted that
was the NFL and at baseball, but dude, on that
(48:29):
kind of I dig stories like this, and I love
whenever you have players who not point a finger here,
but might be kind of pushing the edge of what's
legal and what isn't. Maybe they're not, but I kind
of I like to see how baseball and professional leagues
try to regulate this kind of stuff. Do they go
all in, balls to the wall and say, all right,
we're gonna stop this, or do they realize this is
(48:50):
some miniskill, we just we gotta tap out and say
we don't have anything here. I I think they should
say we want to top out and we don't have
anything here. I thought is a big bluff. At first,
I'm like, Okay, they're just they're you know, they're like
your parents, you better not do it again, and we're
gonna punish you. Um. But they seem, you know, to
really want to goal and go after some people. A
(49:11):
matter of fact, they take baseballs from everybody in baseball
that has pitched during the year. They take a couple
of baseballs from everybody. So at first I didn't think
it was that big of a deal, but it seems
like it's gaining some steam. All right. Uh, and then
let's see, there was one more here that I wanted
to get to before he moved out of the NBA.
Oh this was from Tim Tim Rights. Maybe it's time
(49:35):
for CBS to retire Nansen, Faldo, etcetera. All they brought
no juice to the Masters, and the limited coverage also
is ridiculous. I mean, how much juice can you really
bring to golf? I'm not trying to be a hater here, Tim,
but I mean I tend to be an over the
top play by play guy, very much over the top,
(49:56):
overly enthusiastic. Could you imagine me at the Master's and
me out before we got done with the first day.
I mean, I don't know, Golf's not looking for someone
to get you all fired up, and they're looking for
the game to play out right. Can you imagine using
their model on other sports? Like if I said, hey,
you're gonna watch the basketball game. Of course, we can't
(50:17):
watch the first period in the first quarter because that's
not on TV. But quarters to three and four are
because you can do Could you imagine if I had
to say that to you. We can, you know, we
we can watch the football game, but just not the
first quarter because we don't. We don't put that on TV.
Just the other quarters we do. It's the worst coverage
(50:38):
of a major event period. And this is gonna sound crazy.
It's better than it used to be. It used to
be even worse. I mean, they wouldn't even show you anything.
But thankfully, like Masters dot Org, now you can at
least watch it from the start. I mean, they don't
even pick up national team. It's one of maybe maybe
(50:58):
annie four golfie events that we care to watch for
the non die hard golfer who may be four, and
they don't even they make it. They make it harder
to watch the Masters than the n C double A tournament,
makes us for us to figure out which damn channel
the game's on. I can I find out where true
TV is? Yeah, it makes It's never made any sense
(51:18):
to me, and you never know really who's winning. We're
just taking their word for it because we can't watch
it on TV. Kind of like extra time in soccer.
We're really not sure how much extra time you're aty,
but we'll just go with you know, it's what you
say plus five. Alright five, let's do that, all right?
So I want to get into this conversation as it
relates to the draft. More of your tweets coming up.
(51:39):
I see you authentic, Allen. We'll get to your tweet
at Plank show at Stinking Genius one coming up. Um.
I was after we talked to Matt Verderim, I started
diving into some of the fans sided NFL stories and
I I found this this note from one of the writers,
John Bueler, and he was quoting tweet from dan Orlovsky.
Maybe you've heard of him. He's the It has been
(52:00):
in the news quite a bit the last piece. But
he mentioned three teams that he could see shocking us
and drafting a quarterback in round one, early second round,
like Green Bay did last year. And I guess you
could say the Bills in Kansas City did a few
years ago. People forget that when Kansas City moved up
and made that deal with the Bills to take Patrick Mahomes.
(52:22):
People were surprised because they thought they had their guy
Alex Smith and they led him to the playoffs. Same
thing with the Bills because what they just went to
the playoffs with who wasn't Tyrod Taylor and they ended
up still getting Josh Allen. Anyway, here's the three teams
he mentioned that could surprises, like Green Bay did and
then the Bills in Kansas City, Minnesota. What would you think,
(52:43):
Arnie about the Vikings? Now, it would have to be
someone falling to them or taking a shot on one
of those Tier two guys like a Kyle Trask or
Davis Mills or at Kelly and Mond. Right, But as
Minnesota a team that you could see potentially taking a
quarter back to replace Kirk Cousins eventually, Um yeah, I
(53:03):
mean I could. I mean obviously he's making a lot
of money. I don't know. Why do you say they'd
have to have somebody follow them? Why couldn't they trade up?
There actually one spot ahead of the Patriots, and those
rumors about the Patriots going crazy to move up to
number ten at least to get to the Cowboys bake
and who knows if they can't get up to number four.
But I don't think the Vikings would trade up to
go ahead and get their quarterback. But um, I think
(53:25):
in the second or third round they'd be uh, you know,
smart to take one of to me. I was listening
to Brady Quinn, you know, on Fox Sports Radio before
we jumped on the air, and he was laying out
kind of his his quick shot quarterback tiars. Tier one
is Trevor Lawrence, and then tier two is Fields Wilson
(53:45):
and um gosh, you also, I don't I can't read
mac Jones, so Josh Fields, I couldn't remind riding for
a second Kyle Wilson and Mac Jones and then tier
three that's where he had Trey Lands. So maybe there's
a situation where we just to all expect it to
be Lawrence and then I don't know, Kyle Wilson at
two and mac Jones at three, and someone moves up
(54:07):
to four or the Falcon Steak Fields at four, you
might see a tray Lance start to fall a little bit.
We we forget going into the draft last year, aren't
a lot of people thought Jordan Love could go in
the top ten of the top fifteen, and there he
was at the bottom of the first round. So what
if a guy like Trey Lance falls to Minnesota fourteen,
Maybe that's a possibility. I would say, if you're gordon
(54:28):
to take a quarterback late in this draft, I would
take a flyer on like a said Alenger for Texas
uh uh Ian book is probably gonna be like a
third round. I'm thinking out a Notre Dame Sam probably
in the sixth round. Really, I have heard zero buzz
on him. He's right, like higher than the what Philippe
(54:50):
Frank's Arkansas or somebody like that. Here you go, I mean,
I I think you're right if if you're gonna take
a flyer, wait until later. But here's the other two
teams just before we at the Todd second team, Seattle,
the Seattle Seahawks. It's been there's been a lot of
buzz this year about um the potential of moving on
from Russell Wilson. They don't have a first round pick
(55:13):
because that was part of the Jamal Adams trade. Would
you be surprised to see Seattle potentially take a Davis
Mills or maybe a Kellen Mond if he's there in
the second round. No, No, I could see that happening.
I don't think they're gonna do it that early though,
um and with no first round selections, that make that
second round pick that much more important. I don't think
they go quarterback in that so uh maybe later later
(55:35):
in the draft, but I guess I disagree with that,
But I I don't think Seattle's early picks for a
quarterback I don't either. And the third one I don't
see either. The third one was the New Orleans Saints, whom,
as we talked about, appear to be crazy about Kyle Trask.
Depending on who you read, they draft twenty eight in
the first round. Arnie, I can't see what the money
they've already invested in Taysom Hill, having Jamis Winston on
(55:58):
the roster. They they've got a young quarterback already there too,
So I mean, do you go ahead and then draft
and he and Book or Kyle Trask in the second
round to try to compete with those guys? You draft
somebody that helps you stop choking, and when you get
to the playoffs, that's what you do. When we come back,
we'll add to Vegas. We'll see who has the best
odds to go number three to the Niners. With Todd
(56:20):
Ferman next on Fox Sports Radios, Arnie and Plank on
Fox Sports Radio. Let's add to Vegas. Todd Ferman is
in the house. Uh Todd first and foremost, thanks for
spending some time with us on a Sunday night. Check
out the bet the Board podcast. Uhdeki Matsyama not a
bad little play if you had it today? Right One?
(56:42):
The going rate on Hideki of course, becoming the first
player of Japanese descent to don the green jacket, or
when any major. I can tell you one thing. There
are a lot of professional betters over the years that
have blown a lot of cash on Hideki to win
tournaments because of his flatstick letting them down. But today
everything came together and he's got Sanders awfully to think
for putting the ball in the drink on the sixteenth hole.
(57:02):
Does anybody ever have big money on that there? But
is Oh yeah, I put a couple of thousand on him.
I'm not not to that extent. You're not going to
get a laundry list of guys that have four figure
wagers on a player at that price tag. But you
have some folks out there with a couple of hundreds
year that will pay quite handsomely, and even when you
look at his price coming into today, you could have
laid a dollar twenty five at FanDuel versus the field.
(57:24):
What was interesting, guys, is that you see a decki's
odds really balloon out in terms of live wagering going
to the sixteenth hol though, where his lead a shrunk
and just two strokes he was a one to five favorite.
As soon as that ball gets wet off of Zander Shoffley,
suddenly that bet is off the board and we see
a DECKI coast of victory. Um. I don't know the
(57:44):
best way to ask this without Aren'tie making fun of me?
But but I will Can we beat on WrestleMania or
anything like that anymore? Or has has wrestling been taken
off the board? You can only go off shore for
those type of opportunities, And the reason for that is
because there is somebody out there that does with the
outcome before the events take place. So it puts books
in a little bit of a precarious position and in
(58:05):
violation of a lot of gaming REGs in most states
were sports betting is legal in some capacity. All right,
talking about taking off the books, did Vegas take off
the top four picks, we're gonna be all quarterbacks, and
you could have gotten that what like twenty to one
or something like that. Is that off the board, because
I think it's good, like the top four picks are
(58:25):
all going to be quarterbacks. You know, Arnie, I never
actually saw a proper on that particular designation, so I
can't speak to it and don't want to even speculate
in terms of a number one thing. I will tell
you those Trevor Lawrence is a massive favorite as we
know to go number one. We've seen Zack Wilson moved
to a massive favorite to go number two, and over
the last seven to ten days, you've seen the quarterback
derby for who the forty Niners are expected to take
(58:48):
really move in the favor of Matt Jones. He's now
a one to three favorite compared to where he was
about two weeks ago when you could have had him
at a price of two to one. The big question, Arnie,
to cash that particular ticket, what will the Falcons do
with the fourth overall pick? Would they trade down? I
just don't see a scenario where Arthur Smith comes in
his first year there and look looking to draft an
air apparent to Matt Ryan. I think he'd want to
(59:09):
try and run it back with the veteran quarterback in
his first campaign. Do you read um a lot into
that from the Niners perspective? A team that has been
so buttoned up about what they want to do and
who they're going to take in the past and then
to have it seemed just so slam dunk that they've
got their guy in mac Jones right now. I mean
there's a variety of skeptic skeptics out there that think, hey, look,
(59:30):
maybe this is all a smoke screen, but what's the reason.
If you're John Lynching company, there's no reason to mask
your intentions at this point because you know the first
two quarterbacks are going to be off the board. You
control your own destiny. You've traded up to number three,
so that says you know exactly who you want to
try and go after. And sure, maybe they want to
shock the world and take Trey Lance, or they've come
around on Justin's field. It just doesn't make a whole
(59:51):
lot of sense to me when you look at the
history of Kyle Shanahan, and while he did wonders with
r G three, in his first season in Washington, and
he was pretty outspoken about the mayor is that never
was with Johnny Manzel in Cleveland. Typically, the Shanahan family
Kyle Now and his dad might perform him, have gravitated
towards pro style pocket passers, the likes of Kirk Cousins,
the likes of Jimmy Garoppolo, Matt Ryan, and the list
(01:00:13):
goes on and on down the road. Todd, what are
we missing? Who's going to be that one team we
didn't think about that actually trades up to number four
to get a quarterback? Or um, who's the one? What's
the one quarterback that drops all the way down? Is
it gonna be justin fields? Who are we missing? What
are we not paying attention to in this draft? I
think you could see a quarterback drop, whether it's justin
fields or tray lance. That for me is going to
(01:00:35):
be the biggest question and how far those guys would go,
because we've seen it time and time again. Once you
get through the first couple of picks, all it takes
is one team to become enamored with those various skill sets,
trade up and decide, hey, look we're gonna go all
in to get our guy, and if that means overdrafting,
so be it, because we know the premium placed on
the quarterback position. I still think that New England isn't
(01:00:56):
going to be quiet in all of this. I really
believe when you look at how they've umulated assets over
the years and quite frankly floundered with a lot of
the picks that they've taken in the first couple of rounds,
maybe this is the time where they go, hey, look,
we need a quarterback that's going to give us a
dimension we currently don't have. We've run this Cam Newton experiment,
and we want a guy that has the legs to
go along with a strong throwing arm. And whether that's
(01:01:18):
fields or lands, I think you can see the Patriots
move up. I would have said Carolina makes a ton
of sense, honestly, a trade up to the fourth spots.
But if you're the Atlanta Falcons, even if Carolina would
offer you a king's ransom, do you want to trade
in the division and run the risk of letting Carolina
draft a quarterback of their future that can haunt you
twice a year going forward. And I think some of
that gets a little dampened with Carolina making a commitment
(01:01:40):
to Sam Donald at least for the next couple of seasons. Now,
I'm with you, Todd. I think Carolina looked at that
and said Atlanta is not trading with us, Let's go
get Sam Donald. And I don't think I heard this buzz.
Maybe it could have been BS, but the Jets weren't
even taken calls at number two, which kind of surprised me.
With that said, I want to shift real quick to
the NBA. Todd, You know me, big NBA guy. Uh,
have you seen much shift on the Nets with Kyrie
(01:02:03):
not being in or has it just been kind of
the way the Nets have gone this season to where
they're gonna be without a star for a week or
two and then the guy will come back and the
guy will be off. I mean, it really hasn't effected
their future as much with Kyrie being out of it, right, No,
it hasn't changed things whatsoever. It didn't win. Kevin Duran
was sideline with the hamstring injury for a lot longer
than any of us ever thought as possible. Kyrie the
(01:02:24):
back and fourth James Harden more or less taking over
the team. But I think what's interesting about the way
the Eastern Conference could shake out, There's a very real
possibility that if Brooklyn finishes second in Philadelphia ends up
jumping over them in the Atlantic Division, that the Nets
could take on the Boston Celtics in that to seven matchup,
and suddenly, uh, it's not a slam dunk that Brooklyn
moves on to the next round. If Boston plays teams
(01:02:47):
team basketball and looks like the side that I think
a lot of us expected them to be earlier in
the year. Throw into that equation, you have three superstars
who haven't had to share the ball all that often
on the floor. You have a head coach gonna make
his first turn through the NBA playoff, And I don't
think we can just pencil Brooklyn in as the Eastern
Conference representative against the Lakers from the West, knowing that
suddenly the Miami Heat looked to be a lot more relevant.
(01:03:09):
I don't think the Bucks are going anywhere, although I'm
skeptical about their upside, and I think Philadelphia a team
that nobody wants to discuss quietly. Thirty six and seventeen
and getting healthy at the right time, you know, they
look good. I did that one more thing about football.
How does seventeen games affect the gambling like over on
their win totals? Do they go up by only a
half a game or go down by a half a
(01:03:30):
game or what are we missing that seventeen ads that
we're not paying attention to. Well, it adds a couple
of zeroes to the betting handle that sports books are
going to do with that edition of a full extra week,
and of course the Monday Night Football Wild Card weekend
game in a standalone time stot which will help immensely
as well. But as far as wind totals, the formula
won't change. And when oddsmakers go through and they set
(01:03:51):
their numbers, they attach a win probability to each game
a team will play, and that's how they arrive at
their end result before they open it up for betting.
So you'll see numbs inch up a little bit, but
it will make a little bit harder when you start
to compare historical numbers. And you know, when you look
at over unders for teams that have their total set
at eleven and a half, what does that mean historically speaking,
because now you're not looking at a relevant data set.
(01:04:13):
One thing I will tell you though, if you dig
into what Andy Reid's been able to accomplish. He's a
head coach. You're not going to make a whole lot
of money betting against for his regular season win totals
goes over with a higher rate than any coach currently
at his position in the NFL. Um Hey, Todd, I
just wanted to get a general thought from me before
final thought from me? Um are you Are you a
fan of what New York is doing right now legalizing
(01:04:33):
the the the betting apps. But it's kind of a
different approach, isn't it. I think you want to try
and see a free market uh in a lot of
these states and bring in a number of operators. Now,
of course, my team may change a little bit depending
on which two operators are given the green light there.
So if it is the fluttered group that has an
inside track, I will be a huge proponent of all
(01:04:54):
of this taking place. But when you look at a
lot of these states, I think these government agency, these
governors and other elected personnel that make these decisions who
don't understand the ramifications, needs somebody to advise them in
terms of going, Hey, look, we want to try and
create the best, most competitive market otherwise you steer people
to other states. And these delusions of grandeur for five
(01:05:15):
hundred million dollars and tax dollars coming in in year one,
I think just sets up for a pipe dream. It's
not the lottery. We're talking about five to seven percent
historical hold. It's not fifty dollars scratchers or penny flocks.
But by the way, Todd, I'm wearing a brand new
hat of your favorite team. I want you to know that.
And Arizona Wildcast or a Miami Dolphins hat. No, no,
(01:05:37):
your Las Vegas timber Wolves. About that, well, there has
been it's been widely rumored that Vegas was going to
be a major destination to get an NBA team for
the last couple of years. It was the Bucks before
they got their new building built. All the talk about
the Sacramento Kings. I think that we will see it.
It's just a question of who it is. And Arnie
(01:05:58):
the Begger bigger question, have you officially filed your resume
to be Sean Miller's replacement? Down there? In songs, I've
tried to get Steve Kurta calling to the show so
I could talk Steve Owen to take in the job
with with the with the owner stepping down, and who
knows when Steph Curry is gonna go to the Lakers.
He needs to go and retire and take the Arizona job.
If you can somehow pull off that coup, aren't he
(01:06:20):
They may all of a sudden start answering your calls
in the athletic department down there in questons because we
know those alumni dollars or anything you've tried to contribute
as a booster clearly hasn't resonated as far as them
being able to bring in top notch recruits. I'm sure, Steve,
I was trying to call right now, and you've you've
made the line. Busies with our Fox Sports radio stations
only have one incoming line, and we have bigger fish
(01:06:41):
to fry. Jenner, good, great point, Todd, have a great
week on Always a Pleasure well Man, Las Vegas Timberwolves. Yeah,
that would be very inating to it Ron and not,
by the way, for hot water that never runs out,
go tankless with Navy nave In Tankless water heaters provide
(01:07:01):
endless hot water for spalight comfort. Visit Tankless made simple
dot Com and save hundreds with local rebates, Tankless made
simple dot Com Steve de Sager making it simple to
get all the sports news of the day. What's going on, Steve?
It is the Golden State team president that said he
was stepping down this pastor eight. They're not being sold.
And for those who didn't hear last night, Alex Rodriguez
(01:07:22):
is negotiating to buy the Timberwolves, a team that was
thirteen and forty coming into play. Tonight's Minnesota beat Chicago
seventeen because Minnesota on free throws was twenty five for
twenty five. D'Angelo Russell twenty seven points off the bench
in twenty six minutes of work. Everything is final now
because the Clippers in l A have just beaten Detroit
(01:07:44):
one one four. The Clippers had to shoot sixty three
from the floor to do it. Miami one at Portland
one oh seven. San Antonio's DeMar DeRozan with thirty three points,
including the game winner in the final second, in a
victory at Dallas one seventeen, Boston one oh five, eighty
seven winners at Denver, the Nuggets eight game winning streak ends,
(01:08:04):
and New Orleans got thirty eight points from Zion Williamson
in a victory at Cleveland, won six one O nine hit.
Deckie matsu Yama won the Masters by one stroke. He
led by six at one point briefly on the back
nine today it was down to a two stroke lead
with three holes to go. After yesterday sixty five, which
was the first bogey free round in this week's tournament.
(01:08:25):
He had led by four to start the day. Will's
Alataurus out of wake four is finished second. John Ron
by the Way shot sixty six. He was four back.
Bryson to Shambo shot seventy five again finished five over par.
Adam Scott was eleven over. The winner was at ten
under par. Martin Trurex Jr. Took NASCAR's Cup race at Martinsville.
He only led twenty laps out of the five hundred chase.
(01:08:46):
Elliott finished second. Denny Hamlin led the most laps. He
was in third. The race was continued from last night
after all the reign there. On Saturday, in the NHL
Washington and eight one winner at Boston, Vegas shutout Arizona
one nothing. The Sunday night ballgame in Atlanta went to
the Philadelphia Phillies on a sack fly on the top
of the ninth, the controversial safe call at home seven
(01:09:06):
six Philly. The final deed Gregorious with a homer and
four RBIs. Philadelphia is six and three. The Braves four
game winning streak is over starter Drew Smiley of Atlanta
five innings, five runs allowed, two homers, Philadelphia starter Matt
Moore five innings, five runs allowed and two homers. Angels
versus Toronto rained out in Florida. Miami at the Mets
(01:09:28):
rained out. Ten inning wins on the road for both
the Yankees and Kansas City. Boston won at six straight.
J d Martinez three home runs. And we talked last
Sunday night about the massive COVID problems for the Vancouver Canucks.
They were due to reopen their practice facility finally today
that's a no go. Yeah, they had another player added
to the COVID protocol list. That makes nineteen rostered players
(01:09:50):
on that list. So they're not going to reopen their
own facilities until at least tomorrow. But they're still on
track to resume playing a game on the ice on Friday,
standing by on spring breakers. They've had eight games postponed.
The problem is not just the outbreak spread throughout the team.
(01:10:11):
It went to some of the family members of the team,
and a variant of the virus was certainly involved. No
players have said they want to opt out of the
rest of the season. Thing is the NHL regular season
will not be ending on May eleven, as was scheduled,
at least not for the Canadian teams. Vancouver has those
eight games to make up. The regular season schedule was
officially yesterday extended to May sixteenth, but there is no
(01:10:34):
start date yet for the NHL playoffs. We're just over
a month away. We have no idea when that post
it is going to begin exactly. That's exactly what it
is right now. Kind of similar to the NBA second
half of the season things. Whenever it was we're waiting
for that final schedule, you're like, uh, we're gonna get
the second half of the schedule for the starry second
(01:10:55):
half of the season. Schedule finally got it, um and
then of course everyone up getting hurt. So I I
want to read a couple of tweets here before we
get to well, I believe this is directed at you,
but if you need that for yourself, go ahead. J
J Rights. Vegas can suck it and get in line.
Seattle gets a team first, our team was stolen. Okay,
(01:11:17):
you want to play that game, j J. Then let's
just give it the Buffalo who got third team stolen
by the San Diego Clippers. Uh yeah, that j J.
J J. It's always kind of funny to me, how
if it's Bubba. We were talking about Oklahoma City earlier
today during the break. I've always had this theory that,
(01:11:37):
you know, thunder fans, I think they all agree kind
of born on third base. First professional franchise is bad
for one season and then they're incredible for a decade.
But I mean this now sudden lack of understanding from
Oklahoma City fans, why Seattle fans would be bent? Oh
shut up, you're crying. Well, you can't keep the team.
I mean, it's just Carmen kind of sucks, guys. I mean,
(01:11:59):
I'm just I'm little bit more sympathetic towards Seattle's plight.
But I still think we're getting it up with thirty
two NBA teams. I think they do want to see
him move. Do you want to see him stay in Minnesota?
Do you want him to move to Seattle or do
you want to move Vegas? I love the Minnesota Timberwolves.
I don't want to see him go anywhere. I mean,
I know they stay. You're just saying that because the
bosses at Minnesota Fan. I mean, why not. I don't
(01:12:22):
want to get in trouble with the boss. You want
to say they shouldn't move, go ahead, man, I'm all
about stay, stay in Minnesota. I'll start the rally right now. Yeah.
And They've got some exciting young players and Anthony Edwards.
And I feel like Karl Anthony Towns is like fifty
years old and then you find out he's not even
like twenty five yet. But I'll tell you what, Arnie,
I think that we're going to continue to see I
think the NBA and expansion is gonna become a hot
(01:12:45):
topic because I think that it's a it's it's a
way to make a little bit more money with the
expansion fees and be I do think there's some cities
that are hungry for the NBA. I think Vegas would
be great for the I I hadn't even thought about
moving Minnesota. I thought that Vegas and what are we
at thirty in the NBA as far as teams right now?
I thought Vegas and Seattle would get too expansion franchise,
and we would add even though you'd have to do
(01:13:07):
some shifting around as far as which team would go
in which conference. But bottom line here, I think it
would make a lot of sense to just a few
more teams. I don't know if part of the deal
usually comes where you have to keep the team in
that city, but if you, yeah, well, when a Rod's involved,
you gotta think, yeah, I'm not so sure that's going
(01:13:27):
to be in there. I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong,
I'm reading too much into it, and maybe they just
keep it up there. But uh, if if it's a Rod,
who knows where you can move it to? You know,
I will never understand for the life of me and
the history of of moving franchises, if an owner buys
a team, how the person who sold it would be
able to say, yeah, you can't move the team. Okay, yeah,
(01:13:50):
I'll buy it, but I'll keep it here. I mean,
you just paid a billion dollars for a franchise. I
feel like you can do with it whatever you want.
Look at the Rams. They were what the twentie value
franchise in football when they were in St. Louis. Now
they're what like five or something like that. So it
helps whenever you build up how much it did ended
up costing to build sofy stadium. It helps when you
(01:14:12):
add an arena like that, a stadium like that. And
then I do want to get to this because again
I think it's a fair point authentic. Allen hit us up.
I believe, I believe he's mad at you on this
one are and he just to be imagine that Kyrie
Irving is getting more coverage than Mac Jones two d
U I s before the draft. Where's Dan Orlovsky in
the media when you need them? Amazing how the sports
(01:14:34):
media works. You only want to talk the NBA when
it comes convenient to hate hashtag bias. So yeah, I
wouldna called BS on him is authentic, Allen, Um, what
you don't know was sending us stuff. Yesterday when I
actually brought up the mac Jones thing, we had Ryan
Fowler on from Tuscaloosa the game down in Tuscaloose, and
I said, how come I didn't know about mac Jones's
(01:14:55):
d U I Uh, and I know it's from two
years ago. Uh. Maybe Dak Prescot We've talked about it
a little bit because it was right before the draft,
But I didn't. I didn't know about it from from
nineteen and um I brought that up to start the
show off yesterday, So he's just piggy backing off that. Well,
and I'll add two other things. And when it wasn't two,
d u I s it was one, he had one
(01:15:16):
d u I. It was in seventeen when he was
a true freshman. Not defending it by any stretch of
the imagination, but I some people want to try to
compare it, well, Dac and Doc, how do you, d
u I. Dak also had a video of him getting
in a fight on the beach. I mean he did.
There was all kinds of weird things going on, and
Doc was in a tough spot. Man. I think back
to what Dak Prescott was going through. He had lost
(01:15:38):
his mom um. You know, he just hadn't ended well
at MSIs State from the perspective of the way the
team played after playing being in that championship picture. So
there was a lot going on with him and he
wasn't considered the pro prospect that Mac Jones is. So
again I don't I don't know how you didn't know
about an army. Maybe it's just because I'm living the
draft life a little bit too much. I don't feel
(01:16:00):
like that I can mention mac Jones without someone saying,
oh a d u. I. I just feel like it's
there everywhere every time you mentioned him or he's brought up,
and then immediately goes from well, Dak Brascott and you're like,
if it's different if the Forts don't have a problem
with him and drafted him, a problem with it and
draft him at third Okay, I mean gonna they are
(01:16:22):
you saying the racist because they decided to take a
guy that had a d U I And I don't know.
I don't know what people are trying to say when
they act like people are ignoring this. It's not being ignored,
aren't he If you didn't know about it, I can
understand that I did say that. I said, shame on
me because I think what it was when he was
a Richard freshman was seen. I believe, Okay, because so
(01:16:44):
you know, maybe you know, maybe it wasn't important to seventeen.
You know, maybe it's not right to bring it up
before this draft now since it happened so long ago.
But no, I bad job by me. I had not
about it until about three or four days ago. Mike, Gee,
I didn't know we had two of them in Um.
(01:17:05):
But then again, I I guess you know it's not
affecting his draft status like it did with Dak Prescott.
I guess that's the comparison. Well, and again, Trapp, Dak
Prescott was never considered a first round quarterback. That's the
other part of it. Never there was never the dude
slipped in part because he had some off the field
issues and it wasn't just the d U. I right,
(01:17:26):
we can fight about this all night long, authentic Allen,
appreciate the tweet. When we come back to SAGRA, is
gonna get us caught up on everything we've missed. Plus,
I've got so much to empty out of the notebook
from NFL draft rumors, buzz speculation. It's all coming up
next with Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio. All right,
let's go. It is Sunday night on Fox Sports Radio
(01:17:49):
Final Show. No. I was reading this text message about
you getting fired for trying to from the boss from
the boss. Um, Yeah, I'm I'm sorry, man, It's just
I warned you about this kind of stuff. You bet
your job too much. Now you're gone. It's been fun
(01:18:10):
and we had a good run. Steve Saker comes rolling
in and get us caught up on everything going on
in the world of sports. What's up, Steve? We had
a couple out of these in Major League Baseball today.
But I do want to say, Mr College Softball, we
had a perfect game today North Texas three nothing over
Arkansas Pine Bluff. I bring it up because not just
because it was a perfect game, but hope Trout won
twenty one batters faced twenty one out twenty one strikeouts,
(01:18:34):
believed to be, according to a p the first perfect
seven inning game in Division One history where every batter
wound up a strikeout. How could that happen? That's a
Sunday out of you. I'm not gonna let yeah, just
not in the last thing. But yeah, North Texas tweeted
out the natural sound of the final at bat swinging
(01:18:58):
a miss, and there you got, apparently in the Yeah,
no play by play at North Texas for the softball game.
You should have done it. You should give me the
play by play for it. I would have lost my mind.
If I was already I would have done that live illegally.
Oh wow, look at that, Look at that little exactly
no graphics on radio. Apparently the n c A Record
(01:19:19):
books does list a couple other pictures have had twenty
one strikeouts in seven eight in games. It just wasn't
perfect games in those times. Alabama a few years ago
an Olympian Michelle Granger with cal back in the nineties.
But congratulations. As for the New York Mets, no congratulations
for you. The Mets home game against Miami today was
reined out. Technically, the game was suspended after nine pitches.
(01:19:42):
Is upset about that. The Mets, as the home team,
had the decision. They started the game. The Umps quickly
stopped it as the rain continued to pour. The game
was then called after a two hour plus rain delay. Stroman,
the starting pitcher, Marcus Stroman, thinks, great, now I'm not
going to pitch for another five days. The rotation might
be said. Meanwhile, a rainout for Toronto against the Angels.
(01:20:03):
Bad news for the Angels this weekend. In that series
is their new outfielder Dexter Fowler's out for the year.
He had an awkward entry as a runner into second
base torn a c l. Today's game never started against
the Blue Jays. It was called after a two hour delay.
It'll be made up in Anaheim in August. You might ask,
quite a minute, they got a roof in Toronto, how
is this? They're not playing in Toronto. Toronto cannot play
(01:20:25):
baseball and keep crossing the border with opponents this year.
So the Blue Jays are playing at their renovated and
great looking spring training facility in Florida for the first
couple of months, and then probably June one will start
with home games at Triple A Buffalo, as they played
there in the shortened season last year. Last night's Blue
Jay's home games started after an over two and a
half hour delay. Remember we were on It ended after
(01:20:47):
one a m. Eastern time, Toronto, winning fifteen to one.
Giants won their fourth straight games. Shout out the Rockies
for nothing is Colorado left twelve men on base? There
was a shutout at Arizona seven thing Diamondbacks against the
Cincinnati team that at the plate went two for twenty
nine today with nine strikeouts. San Diego was up one
nothing in the ninth to nothing the final at Texas.
(01:21:10):
His Manny Machado hit a long solo homer in the
ninth into the second deck nearly four twenty feet and
ex Braves Closer Mark Mullansen is a padre this year.
They were already a good roster. He already has five
saves and a zero e r A. Guess who got
to save for the Dodgers today, Kenley Jansen and his
e r A is under two for the season. It
was a quick ninth three nothing over Washington. Clayton Kershaw
(01:21:33):
beat Max Scherzer and the Dodgers don't have Mookie beat
still out again with a stiff bat. Cody Bellinger's on
the injured list. Rookie Zach McKinstry at a homer and
all three RBIs. He has ten runs batted in to
lead the Dodger team so far. This guy, five years
ago was a thirty third round draft choice from Central Michigan.
He was good in spring. He made the team. They
(01:21:54):
needed somebody in that kind of role with no Jock
Peterson and no Kei k hernandez Zach mckinson hitting hero
the first couple of weeks of the season. By the way,
Kershaw six innings, six strikeouts, maxtures are in the lost
six innings, five strike and didn't say n NHL former
and h L m v P. Taylor Hall got traded
to the Bruins, so that's kind of important. Breaking news.
There's Arenie breaking up the future hockey, all right, good
(01:22:17):
stuff to Sager when we come back. All kinds of
NFL Draft news, including is there another quarterback knocking on
the door of the first round? Could we have six
go in the first round? We'll talk about it next
on Annie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio. Can I
believe it's our final hour already? Let's go, let's go
on a Sunday night. It's Aarnie in Plank on Fox
(01:22:39):
Sports Radio. Best way to get in touch with the
show is Twitter. That's at stinking Genius one s T
I N K I N genius and the number one
I'm at Plank Show and everybody should be following us
at Fox Sports Radio, which, by the way, just moments ago. Uh.
The Fox Sports Radio Twitter account tweeted out Pete Schraeger
from Colin Show on Friday, and I found I found one.
(01:23:02):
I mean, you guys can tweet our show. We're on
the air right now, but I get it. Um. The
thing that I found interesting about Pete Tregor's mock draft
is he had the New England Patriots moving up to
take Justin Fields at number four. Arnie, you you live
in that world. You live covering the Patriots pretty much
twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. You
(01:23:22):
buying that, well, I I buying that they want to
I don't know how they're going to They have the
number fifteen pick um. If you're the Atlanta Falcons, why
on God's earth would you want to go and trade
all the way down to number fifteen. There's so many
other teams that would want to trade with you, and
you wouldn't have to move that far down. What can
do we gonna offer you? How many first round picks
(01:23:44):
this year, next year? Three? I mean, unless they're gonna
give you a king's ransom. I I just don't see
how it could be done. I I think that Atlanta
is gonna trade that pick. It maybe denver Um, as
Matt verder Ram said an hour number one, but I'm
I just don't see how the Aches are gonna be
able to pull this off. You know, It's it's fascinating,
and I was thinking about this a lot. When you
(01:24:06):
start thinking about quarterbacks that could go in the first round,
and you start thinking about where they could end up. Arnie,
if you look at the top fifteen, now you could
really say that maybe only two teams you could just
completely take off the board for a quarterback, right because
we know Jacksonville is going quarterback one, the Jets are
going quarterback to the forty Niners are going quarterback three.
(01:24:28):
We could have a debate about whether or not the
Falcons would want to draft their quarterback of the future
at four. I know I don't think they're going to,
but I would, right or or even let's say they don't.
You you still trading all the way down to fifteen
of the Patriots makes no sense because you get your
choice of the best offensive lineman or receiver or linebacker
(01:24:50):
or I mean, you get the best at that position
that you feel. No, no, no, pump the brakes. If
if I'm not going to take a quarterback at number four,
I have to trade that pick and move down, uh
not to number left? Why? Why? But I'm sorry, I'm not.
I don't care about my franchise left tackle for the
next fifteen years. When you're gonna give me, when you're
(01:25:11):
gonna give me three number one picks, Chris, I I
can't do that. Sorry, So you're sitting at four. You
could have a left tackle or standout receiver for the
next fifteen years. I can understand that receiver in the
top fifteen. Let me let me go ahead and trade
down to fifteen and not get the guy that I want,
(01:25:31):
and let me trade with the team where I might
not be this high again, because they're gonna get a
guy that might make them good. And that first dround
Bick I get is gonna be twenty nine or thirty. Chris,
I'll tell you what. I'll tell you what thing to
keep your eye on for. And I don't know how
this is going to work out, so don't even ask me.
But I know that the Patriots were talking to the
Cowboys about moving up to number ten um and this
(01:25:51):
was about three weeks ago. I don't know if number
ten does them any good, but maybe they'll do like
what the Dolphins did, who traded down the number twelve
and then went up to number six. Maybe the Patriots
move up to number ten and that maybe at number
ten there are more they look more attractive to somebody
like Atlanta who would only have to drop down the
(01:26:12):
number ten. Maybe that's possible. Well, my point I'm making
is you can't count out at Lant at four to
potentially take a quarterback, right? Can you count out? In
New England? It said, sorry, excuse me, Miami at six
to not take a quarterback if if one of them
falls to you? Can you don't? You don't think they
would take fields or lands if if they're there? No, okay,
(01:26:33):
well then okay you can put Miami And that makes
it I was just gonna happen. A matter of fact,
I would assume that Miami would trade dot pick if
one of the quarterbacks fell to them and and just
build up on that draft picks that they have. What
are you doing the sam Pressy theory here? Even any players?
My point is, Arnie, that you're trying to s all over.
(01:26:53):
I think that they might take a quarterback at six
if one falls to them, because all you've done is
dump all over to uh since he's taken over, And
who are you counting on to be that guy this year? Right?
There you go? I have to I better hope I'm wrong,
but I'm never wrong on stuff like this, so yes
and never. So My point is, even with Kirk Cousins
(01:27:15):
in Minnesota, New England at fifteen. I feel like there's
only two teams in the top fifteen that you can
say I'm sorry, Dallas a team. Three teams in the
top fifteen that would not take a quarterback regardless, And
I think it's the Chargers, the Cowboys, and the um
the Bengals. I think that's it. I think every other
team playing. Why not are you sold on Daniel Jones?
(01:27:38):
I'm not sold on Jones, but but the Giants are
sold on him for some of her other reasons. And
by the way, his name is Daniel Jones Manning. I
don't tied into the Mannings, but I guess my point is,
And if you listen to any of our shows long enough,
eventually you hear about every single team being a surprise team,
either from a host like us or guess oh would
(01:27:59):
be as the Lions don't look at a quarterback, right,
Everyone ends up becoming a surprise. So that's why I
think it's gonna be harder to potentially trade up, because
what if Arthur Smith falls in love with Justin Fields
and he's sitting there at four, you gotta take him, right,
I mean, so why would you risk trading down and
getting all these wonderful first round picks. Whenever you could
(01:28:20):
just go ahead and get a guy that might be
your future quarterback for the next decade. Well if if
you want to talk about future quarterbacks and you have
not brought them up, which kind of surprises me. Man
I would love to see if the Raiders would want
to move up and then get rid of car if
they end up getting the quarterback in the draft. You
know that's not that, But I don't put that bast
bruten It's something that he would love to do. I'm
thinking every single year I hear about John Grid moving
(01:28:43):
on from Derek carr and every single year, who's his
starting quarterback, Derek carr Um, here's one that's interesting for you.
So you know, I mean, I don't feel like you
need to give this precursor every single Sunday night, but
I do. I'm not a big Peter King fan. I
appreciate his work. I couldn't care less about his opinions
during the season, but I love his information during the
(01:29:03):
off season. So he dropped this little nugget. We all
are in the same boat to where we think five
quarterbacks are going in the first round. You're gonna have
Trevor Lawrence go number one. Looks like Zach Wilson is
going number two. Then it could be out on Mac
Jones or Justin Fields or Trey Lance at three, and
then Fields and Lands and Jones would land somewhere else.
(01:29:26):
But how about this little nugget, Yeah, Peter King writes,
I think I'm starting to think Kyle Trask, the Florida quarterback,
has a good chance to be the sixth first round quarterback.
Starting to think not gonna happen now to me, Listen,
I love you, Arnie, but you also told me that
there's no way Mac Jones is going into top ten
(01:29:47):
a couple weeks ago, and now he might go number three.
So I'll hit pause on that for a moment. Okay,
New Orleans stocking up on quarterbacks potentially sitting there? Uh uh,
I mean we've kind of joked about it, but twenty
eight was around the spot where Jordan's love went last
year to the Green Bay Packers. Now I know one
(01:30:08):
place for sure. I don't think the Packer is gonna
take a quarterback again this year. But we saw the
story about Kyle Trask potentially being a candidate for someone
that Sean Payton has quote unquote fallen in love with
Could it be out of the realm of possibility that
either at twenty or maybe they trade back a little
bit and still are able to get him later in
the first round, Because I mean, you start thinking late
(01:30:29):
in the first round, right, Arnie, when you're when you're
looking at that sixth quarterback the Buccaneers at thirty two,
I mean, who's next after Brady? Can? Brady would actually
be a good fit. You know, since you went to
school in Florida. I can see that. But then if
you're saying Kyle Trash is going to be a first
round traff pick, then you're telling me that seven are
gonna be taken in the first time because Kevin Munn
is gonna be taking ahead of him. Right. So now
(01:30:52):
now you're telling me there's gonna be seven quarterbacks taken
in the first round. How's that possible? Because Kellen Moss
not gonna be drafted ahead of Kyle Trask. You're falling
for Kelln Mons pro day, arn't amas Because see I
did the same thing with Zack Wilson where I watched
the pro day and I was like, oh my gosh,
you threw it off one leg seventy yards and then
(01:31:12):
Callen Mon did the same thing. I'm trying because I
was just reading during the break the Beast from Dane Bruegler,
and he and I kind of earned that same category
with both Kellen Mond and in mac Jones. He's got
mac Jones as his fifth quarterback, He's got Kellen Mon
is his eighth. So again and and in fact, his
(01:31:32):
projection on Kellen Mond is a fourth round pick. And
then funny enough, you know you and I were going
back and forth about mac Jones. He's got mac Jones
projected as a first or second round pick. So you
know it's again, it's a fit, It's what a team wants.
I just don't think Kellen Mon is gonna go as
high as we think you like him, though, right I
like him. I would have taken him over Kyle Trask,
(01:31:55):
and I also go like Kyle trust rember No. He
didn't play a lot, didn't play in high school and
um really didn't play in Ford until with the last year,
so he's waited his turn. I gotta give him credit
for that, but I'm I'm not so sure on the
next level. I would take him, but I wouldn't take
him in the first round. He'd be like a third
round or fourth topick. For me, you and I are
preaching to the same choir here, I will say preaching
(01:32:17):
the same choir. Anyway. My point is your note about
Kyle Trask is fascinating. If you think about a guy
that's going to get drafted either in the first, second, third,
or fourth round. That's a dude that didn't start on
his high school football team. He didn't. He was a
backup to de Eric King, who, by the way, he's
gonna play again in Miami this year. He was. He
started at Houston, then he de Eric King did yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh.
(01:32:41):
Kyle Trask has always been in Florida. So Kyle Trask
goes to Florida. Right, He's a backup to Felipe A.
Franks whenever he finally got an opportunity to start, because
Felipe A. Franks was horrible. It was his first start
since his sophomore year in high school. I mean, that's
that's amazing, right, and then he ended up with a
(01:33:01):
really good team this season. I'm a Sooner guy, I'm
an Oklahoma guy, so I we kind of fight back
on those that are like, Oh, but Florida didn't have
anither players, but they didn't have Kyle Pitts playing in
the Cotton Bowl. They didn't have Candarius Tony playing in
the Cotton Bowl, so he didn't have two of his
biggest weapons, and he looked awful. And he ended up
having their their quarterback for next year playing majority of
(01:33:23):
the time. I kind of throw that game out, aren't
And I think he was a pretty impressive prospect. Do
I want to see my team drafted in the first round. No,
But as far as potentially being the sixth quarterback to
go in the first round, I could see it. Heck,
did you see peak? Speaking of Pete Schrager's mock draft,
did you see who he had as his sixth quarterback
going in the first round? Davis Mills out of Stanford.
(01:33:48):
That's he's I have a better chance of dating supermodels
before he goes in the first round. That's not gonna happen.
He may be like a second round pick, I give
you that, but he's not gonna go in the first round.
Then you're gonna have to take him over traffic and mond.
I think that's a little crazy. So there has never
been an off season like this, Quarterbacks have never gone one, two, three,
(01:34:10):
four in the draft. I do think whenever all is
said and done, Arnie, that you you're gonna be right.
I think the Falcons outside of picking what could be
a franchise staple at left tackle or I think they're
gonna trade and they're gonna get more picks at that
fourth spot. But I think the story of this draft
is gonna start at number four and what they end
(01:34:31):
up designed to do. Torres was all, you know, hung
up on Mac Jones is what seventies seven percent completion? Ready?
Nobody's ever done that before. Nobody's ever done that before.
I go, if he's so great with the numbers, why
I need be in the first round pick in this draft.
Don't get so hung up on the numbers when you're
playing for not Labama team that I can quarterback and
and throll those type of numbers up. It seems like yeah,
(01:34:54):
and that's so that's the hardest thing for me to separate,
right is Okay, I didn't really hold it against Joe
Burrow when he had first round picks and Justin Jefferson
Jamar CHASEI receiver first round pick. Offensively, he went number
one overall, I think, but they're not habitually great, right, right,
But but I mean we're gonna question him for the
(01:35:16):
guys that he had around him. No, no, not at all,
not but but we've seen it play out in the NFL.
So that's and then the other side of it. Then
do you question Zach Wilson because their biggest game of
the year was against Coastal Carolina and he didn't and
they got Here's the most fascinating thancy. It's a tough challenge.
Do you hold it against the guy because he had
elite talent or do you hold it against the guy
(01:35:38):
because he didn't play the toughest schedule. But then if
you're holding it against the guy that played with elite talent,
he played a tougher schedule, it's well. And it took
a couple of years for Josh Allen to get it, Yes,
but he didn't have a yet a horrible complete percentage,
not only in college in Wyomi, but the first couple
of years in the NFL. Yeah. Absolutely, here's one quick note,
(01:35:59):
and then get a time out and we'll play buy
or sell. Arnie's picks are coming up, and an incredible
note about franchise quarterbacks, but this on the Jets to
kind of sum up our recap of Peter King's Football
Morning in America article, Zack Wilson, who we all assume
is going to right now to the Jets, will be
the sixth quarterback picked by the Jets in the top
(01:36:21):
two rounds in the last fifteen years. All right, Arnie,
So that's six quarterbacks for the Jets that have been
drafted in the top two rounds in the last fifteen years.
How many do you think you can get. I'm looking
at it, and I would not have. I think I
would have got four of them. What's the quarterback from
Penn Stay and I forget his name? Oh, there you go.
That was the one that I wouldn't have got. Christian Hackenburg. Yeah,
(01:36:42):
I don't know why. That's the first one that comes
to mind. I don't know. If that said, it's the
front I can't remember any other than him that comes
to mind. I don't know. That was the one that
I never thought anyone would get. Here's the other ously
Sam Donald, uh Mark Sanchez, of course, Kellyn Clemmens, and
(01:37:03):
Gino Smith Smith I would have and then Zack Smith
will become the sixth. How about that? And there was
one other note in here that kind of caught my
eye about the Jets and how tough it's been at
their quarterback position for them for the last I don't know, ever,
there are twelve different guys who have led the Jets
in passing for at least one of the last twenty
five seasons, Gez, So you know you think about that.
(01:37:26):
That's that's not a very long run for any starting quarterback.
So they've had twelve different men who have led them
in passing for at least one of the last I
feel like I feel like Tom Brady has been the
leading passer for a team in all twenty five of
those years. All right, Hey, when we come back, we've
got more drafted notes to get to. But we're playing
buy or Sell and we're diving in to some Major
(01:37:47):
League baseball as well, with already in plank on Fox
Sports Radio. It's already in plank on Fox Sports Radio.
We play this game, or at least I they I
should say, we try to play this game every Sunday
night called buy or Sell. No one else doesn't, nobody
Sports talk radio. But we do it. And I give
(01:38:09):
Arnie a scenario, he's either with me or against me.
So here we go. And this is based first and
foremost off something that has driven a majority of our
conversations over the last twenty minutes here, and it's the
quarterbacks in the draft. And you sent me an article
right before the show started Patriots and Bill Belichick and
what they might do in the draft. So Arnie, buy
(01:38:29):
or sell? The Patriots right now are in the market
to trade up and get their franchise quarterback. I'm I'm
I'm buying that they're in the market to move up.
That doesn't mean they're going to or they're gonna be
able to pull it off. I told you there was
the rumors about that moving up to number ten to
get to Dallas Cowboys pick uh and the Cowboys going down.
I don't know if the Cowboys are in such a
hurry because they want to move up and maybe get
(01:38:50):
the Pits. So we'll see how though. I don't even
know where that guy is gonna drop. But I I
do agree the Patriots want to move up, but they're
not gonna be able to get the top four picks
or one of those quarterbacks. So I I do think
they'll end up with a veteran quarterback. They'll have to
trade four, and I'll have that in my pick selections. Okay,
I don't want to. I don't want to give anything.
(01:39:12):
I don't want to give anything away. Um, just I
gotta ask, is it is it gonna be them trading
up to four? I just have to at least know
that because I don't see they're not trading up the
number four. That's not going to happen. That's a pipe treatment.
They don't have enough. And Belichick doesn't, you know, give
up the family farm to move all the way up
to number four. Unless it's somebody really really wants. That's
(01:39:34):
just not his m O. I don't see him doing it.
Got you, all right, buy your cell on it. We'll
get back to the draft coming up right after the
bottom of the hour. All right, here's a here's one
that's a call back to our one by yourself. The
Masters was good. The Masters was good bye. It was okay.
Do you have to use the word good? Can you
define good? It was okay, It wasn't intriguing. It held
(01:39:56):
your detention a little bit only because he was kind
of maybe got within one stroke at the end. There
two strokes when it was going into the last hole. Um,
but it was okay. You know, it wasn't like you
have Tiger. There wasn't even close to that. There was
really no intrigue going in. It was a four stroke
lead over like three other golfers. It was just okay.
(01:40:19):
Out of a scale from one to ten, I'd probably
give it a six. That's a d. That's still passing, right,
that's passing. Get your big time contract in Major League Baseball,
which gets us to our next buy or sell topic.
This is very simple to buy or sell, aren't he.
Baseball has had a nice start to its season. It's
intriguing their storylines that are are drawing us in. This
(01:40:41):
has been a good start for major League baseball. Buy
or sell. I think it's been a great start for
major League Baseball. One. I didn't think the fans um
would be back in in, you know, and be so vocal,
especially with the throat of the trash cans and and
booing the fans and I love it and I missed it.
So that's the first thing to you know, the Yankees
not off to a great start. Everybody thought they were
(01:41:02):
just gonna run away with it. The Dodgers are looking fantastic.
I think they're gonna go a hundred and sixty and two,
might not lose another game the rest of the year. Um,
all kinds of intrigues out there. We'll see how well
the Astros do. A lot of people thought that the
Angels may be a sleeper, and um, they've looked pretty
good through their first nine games this year. Red Sox
have won six in a row. I left them for
(01:41:23):
dead after three games, So I think there's a lot
of great storyline so far. I do too. And then
you add in the drama with Trevor Bauer. Yes, you had,
uh an always fun talking point whenever there's a political
statement made by the league when they pull the All
Star Game out of Atlanta, So that draws in a
whole other faction. That's that's taken to this sport a bit.
(01:41:43):
And don't forget about a waste of three d forty
something million dollars in finandal ttis how And I've never
seen a dude to get hurt on a swing before,
So yeah, you're like, that's not going to happen again.
Huh that was that. I didn't know he had such
a medical problem him I don't think I would have
given him three forty million dollars if I knew that
(01:42:04):
is uh shoulder would pop out like that. I still
think my favorite thing about baseball so far. And we
were on the air Friday night for this, after eight thousand,
two hundred five games without a no hitter, Joe must
grow through a no no for the Padres on Friday night.
How awesome was that? And now do you know who
has the longest drought between the last no hitter? Every
(01:42:25):
team is thrown one now, including some teams that don't
even exist anymore, like the Expos. But uh, you know
who has the longest current drought without a no hitter
since its last no hitter? Good guests, Good guests. The
Cleveland Indians longest current no no streak. They haven't had
a no hitter since Lynn Barker through a perfect game
(01:42:45):
against the Blue Jays twenty nine are sorry thirty nine
years ago, ten months, twenty seven days. All right, let
me let me go, Lincoln Hawk over the top grip.
Do you know what team has had the longest stint
without being no hit? Currently without being no? Don't help?
Don't you help him to say here without being would
(01:43:06):
I say that what I was gonna say, the Dodgers. No, No, Um,
it's actually the Oakland Athletics. Get I never would have
guessed that some people calling the a's. They haven't victim
to a no No. In twenty nine years, eight months
and twenty nine days longest current they shut out Jean
Tennis and Joe Rudy and the guys. What the hell Ricky, Hi,
(01:43:29):
Wayne Murphy. I can do this all night long with
old a's if you want, all right, and so one more,
one more quick one, and then we'll get to sagre
in here and then we'll wrap up by your cell
with a little bit of of draft talk. Because the
NFL is still king Arnie, let's go buy or sell
on the NBA. Buy or sell. Lakers is gonna be okay.
Get Lebron, Anthony Davis back. I know I might be
drunk off the wind on Saturday night over the Brooklyn Nets,
(01:43:52):
but buy your cell. The Lakers are gonna be okay. No, no,
they're not. They're not like this every week by the
other They're not gonna be okay. A matter of fact,
they're gonna fall behind Portland, which means will be the
number six seed, they'll probably fall behind Dallas and drop
down to the number seven seed, and that's what they'll
finish up as the number seventh seed, which means they'll
have to do that playing game UM win one or
(01:44:13):
if they lose two games, they're ahead of the MAVs.
I know that. I just want to make sure you
knew that. I mean, did you know that Bron and
Anthony Davis around. I don't know if you know that.
I do, but they're still thirteen games over five hundred
and still beating pretty good teams out there as well.
So again, I don't want to give it away, but
in my pick selection, you'll find out what happens to
(01:44:34):
the Lakers tomorrow. You know they play tomorrow, don't show. Yeah,
they play year in New York Knicks. Just on a
side note on that, I think ESPN took that game
off their their schedule or you know, moved it off TV.
Can you imagine Lakers Nicks being moved off when two
iconic teams like that. I I mean, I look, I
(01:44:54):
understand no Lebron, no Anthony Davis, but still the Lakers
in the next you can't can't take of l a
new York. You can't do that. You're it's a five
hundred basketball team, Aren'tie. I know you're you're better than awful,
but they still stink. So yeah, I mean l A,
New York. You may have heard of them Top two cities. Yeah, Well,
when one of the teams is awful and the other
(01:45:15):
team doesn't have its two stars that we tune into,
so I don't. I don't want to watch Montrez Harrold
go beatn up inside with Obie topping. I mean, oh,
in ten they wouldn't be taking off television. Well, the
Cowboys are relevant, the Knicks aren't. All right. Uh So
with that in mind, I want to remind you the

on Nicks are still relevant, you guys. It's okay. You're
at five hundred. They're they're gonna make a five hundred
banner and hang it from the raft. I mean, I
(01:45:57):
been off for coach of the Year Steve the Seger
for update. Dude of the Year who comes rolling in
with everything going on in the world has stop a
lot of people. Small competition. They're carrying the Dallas home
game apparently instead of the next tomorrow night. I haven't
seen any Master's TV ratings, but I do know that
last night's ABC game was Lakers dominating at Brooklyn. That
(01:46:19):
was number three ranked among the network channels last night,
behind both episodes of forty eight Hours. The NBA got
one point six million viewers compared to two million viewers
for Friday Night SmackDown the night before on Fox TV.
Just for the better investment wrestling over the NBA, Let's go, Wow,
we should have a wrestling update instead of an NBA
(01:46:41):
score update. Really, can we get the winners in advance?
Is that gonna be? Decky Matsyama won the Masters by
one stroke. This guy actually has fifteen wins now worldwide
in his pro career. He took home about two million
dollars for this week's victory. I looked it up. Even
the fifth place winner gets four hundred sixty thousand dollars
(01:47:03):
at the Masters, about a hundred twenty thousand for twenty
third place this weekend. He said that that win is
going to be like worth five million dollars to him
or something like that. Well, he was already kind of popular.
He's been golfing for a decade and in his Master's
debut at decade ago, was the low amateur of that year.
So yeah, when he goes back, and by the way,
the Olympics are in Tokyo this summer, yeah he could
(01:47:26):
cash in a guy from wake Forest who none of
us have never heard of. Now, if you follow a
CC golf, you're a better person than I. But will
Sala Taurus finished second at the Masters Jordan's speeds. Tied
for third was Xander Shofflely three shots back shotly triple
bogey sixte and Justin Roe shot seventy four, fell to
a seventh place, finished five strokes behind. Phil Mickelson was actually,
(01:47:48):
I won't say on the leaderboard, but a he made
the cut and almost top twenty, finished it even par.
That's tied for twenty first place with Justin Thomas and others.
NASCAR note today was on FS one. Next Sunday's on
Fox TV, also from Virginia Richmond. Next weekend at Martinsville Tonight,
Martin Truex Jr. Took the Cup race. Chase Elliott finished second,
(01:48:09):
So true X has won three of the last four
Martinsville races. Torre X was the first repeat winner in
the Cup Series this seaton. It snaps a streak of
seven different winners to start this season. He also won
at Phoenix. The NBA late game in l A had
the Clippers Kawhi Leonard sitting out for Rest. Clippers shot
sixty three percent from the floor and beat Detroit one
thirty one one twenty four. Pistons record sixteen and thirty eight.
(01:48:33):
Marcus Morris of the Clippers thirty three points, Paul George
thirty two. Miami and New York got wins. Indiana got
a victory at Memphis, although from Memphis Jonas Vell and
Junas thirty four points, twenty two rebounds. Minnesota and Milwaukee
with victories. Bucks got an easy win at Orlando. The
Magic have lost eighteen of twenty two and janis attendant Compo.
The Bucks out again, missing a fifth straight game with
(01:48:54):
a sore knee. New Orleans picked up thirty eight points
from Zion Williamson at a victory at Cleveland. San Antonio's
Damar wrote DeMar derozen At the game winner in the
final second thirty three points in a one seventeen victory
at Dallas for Atlanta, Trey Young did not play today.
Bruce Calf Hawks were down at Charlotte by ten with
under seven minutes left and still one one oh five,
(01:49:17):
one oh one because Bogdan Bogdanovich had thirty two points.
And then there's the game at Denver with the Nuggets
eight game winning streak ended. Denver scored eight points in
the fourth quarter on a date where Nicola Yogach had
a triple double eight points as a team in the
fourth over about a ten minute span. Late in the game,
Celtics went on a thirty one to three run one
(01:49:38):
oh eighty seven the final. Jamal Murray the Nuggets was
out with a knee injury. Speaking of crushed NHL Washington
eight one winners at Boston, former running back Eddie George
will become the new head football coach at Tennessee State
Rod Reid, stepping down after eleven seasons. George won the
Heisman Trophy for Ohio State back in the nineties, then
started for the Tennessee Titans in the NFL. He lives
(01:49:59):
in that phil controversy. At tonight's Sunday Night ball game, Phillies,
now six and three on the young season, wanted at
Atlanta seven to six on a sack fly top of
the ninth, a controversial safe call at home. Even after
long review of replay, they didn't overturn what seemed to
be the runner sliding in and never actually touching his
toe on home plate. The Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw beat
(01:50:21):
Washington and Max Scherzer three nothing. Kenley Jansen to save
victories for San Francisco, San Diego and Arizona Angels. Versus
Toronto rained out Miami at the Mets rained out ten
inning wins on the road for both the Yankees and
Kansas City. Boston won it six straight game. J D
Martinez three homers at Baltimore in a fourteen nine Red
Sox win. Cleveland Indians won their four straight. Seattle hit
(01:50:44):
a three run homer top of the ninth by Kyle
Seeger for a win at Minnesota eight to six. Milwaukee
led at St. Louis seven nothing in the second inning.
Nine three was the final, and finally the Pittsburgh Pirates
beat the Cubs seven to one for the Cubbies so far,
Anthony Rizzo, who was over three today betting one thirty three.
Jack Peterson now with the Cubs, betting one thirty eight,
(01:51:04):
and Jason Heyward betting one seventy two. But it's only
April eleventh. Back to you, beautiful, Thank you, Steve. Have
a great week man. We'll see you next Sunday night
here on Fox Sports Radio. One other buyer sell just
before I get to some of these tweets and your picks.
To wrap it up, Arnie, buy or sell. It's not
a smoke screen. As we sit here on I don't
even know what date is as the calendar is turned over.
(01:51:26):
April twelve, twelve, yes, twelve ounce Monday past midnight. I
don't know why you always hate me on that, but
I know West Coast not quite yet. There's still a
celebrating their weekend. But buy your sell. The Niners are
taking mac Jones at number three. You buying that now?
I am. I I'll look, I said it wasn't going
to happen. That I'll be wrong, and I'll you know,
gratefully be wrong, and I'll say they you know, um
(01:51:48):
I I can't believe they actually did that, but it
looks like that's what the rumor is and it's gonna
stick with that, and they're gonna go ahead and and
take him at the number three pick. I I'm a
little shocked at that. I'm not gonna say it's a mistake,
but that looks like the direction they're going in right now.
I just I think you could have got him where
you were. I didn't see unless you're worried about Carolina
(01:52:08):
moving up to get him. I just I didn't see
anyone who was going to fight you for mac Jones
in this draft. But hey, I've could be wrong. And
I was listening to Brady Quinn. I brought it up
his tears, you know, he had he had, uh Mac
Jones kind of low in that tier two. He had
them below Justin Fields and Zach Wilsons. So I don't know.
I'm just I'm looking at this and I question everything.
(01:52:29):
And I questioned why you would move up to number
three unless they know what the Jets are gonna do.
I mean, we all just assume the Jets are taking
Zack Wilson at two, right what if the Jets have
their eyes on Justin Fields. I think that'd be great
for I think that'd be fine with San Francisco because
I think they really want Zack Wilson. Um if they
had the choice of any quarterback other than Trevor Lawrence,
(01:52:49):
would be is Zach Wilson before anybody else. All right, now,
let's get a couple of tweets before we get out
of here, and before we get Arnie's picks in here.
Just just remember big Ben Mallor is coming up next.
On Fox Sports Radio, Isaac writes, I'd rather watch Arnie
play on the Skins team at the y m c
A than Lakers Knicks. I can't believe that the Lakers
Knicks are no longer relevant no matter who's on the team.
(01:53:12):
I mean, both teams are in the in the playoffs.
The Lakers are in the championship hunter the defending champs.
The Knicks are five hundred. It's still l a New York.
It's not so much who's gonna be at the game
and who's playing and who's not. It's still Los Angeles
and New York that reason alone. I mean, there we
play what twice a year at least. I I can't
believe you're not gonna air the game, have they? Well,
(01:53:33):
I mean it's still it's still getting aired. I mean
it's not like it's there's no TV cameras showing up.
It's just not on a national tru TV. I think there.
I actually think it's on TBS on Tomorrow night, all right.
And then a couple of others here Nature Boys sent
us a tweet that you're actually gonna be named the
next head coach of the the next quarterback of the
(01:53:54):
forty niners. Congratulations, Arenie. I think right um there, And
I'll have this in my picks. But there's don't let
them fool you. No way they're gonna go ahead and
keep Jimmy G. That that's not going to happen. Utdate supermodels.
I have a better chance of doing that before they
keep Jimmy G before the draft. Yeah. And and if
they trade Jimmy, I mean they're gonna trade Jimmy. The
(01:54:16):
only reason, the only reason they keep him is if
they're really they've really got their eyes on trade lands
and they don't have that type of luxury. You don't
get to keep around a guy that makes a boatload
of money when you could trade him for possibly a
first round. They're more likely a second round there and
move them on when you're not gonna play him anyway,
you don't have that type of luxury. Well, maybe they're
(01:54:38):
looking at it as an Alex Smith Patrick Mahomes situation
where you sit a guy for a year. Maybe they
feel like they can win. And there didn't make that
type of money at that point in my Homes Alex
Smith did he was making that type of money. Yeah,
go look Alex. Now Jimmy G's his His financial ramifications
aren't as bad. I think if some people make it
(01:54:59):
look for the night, but they're not gonna be over
the cap if they keep Jimmy G. They just have
a lot of money invested in the quarterback position. So
you're right. Anymore you take a quarterback in the top five,
it's oh, he's got to play right away. Right, There's
there's no grace period. So you would assume you know
that they wouldn't move on from Jimmy G. But I'll
wait to see what you say in your picks. Authentic
Gallen Right stam Arny. I had no idea Dak Prescott
(01:55:22):
had a fight and a d u I in his
background before the draft. I have to admit those type
of infractions would tank your draft status. Oh wait, Baker
Mayfield got drafted number one despite his checkered past. Plank
Eagles ps I didn't draft Baker Mayfield number one. The
Browns did. And Baker Mayfield wasn't a dope who got
a d u I in the middle of draft season.
He got it. He got arrested for public in talks
(01:55:45):
before trying to run away from the police office. Yes, yes,
he wanted to be That gives you more street credit
when something like that. But I would say this, I'm
not sitting here trying to tell you that anyone was
right or wrong. If you want to try to make
Mac Jones and how people don't bring up his his
d u I some sort of race issue. You got
(01:56:06):
a little bit too much free time on your hands,
I really think so. You're looking for a reason to
be outraged. I can't read an article about Mac Jones
without someone bringing it up again. And maybe I maybe
I didn't notice it, or I didn't pay attention. I
didn't hear anybody talking about his No, no, I I
don't disagree with you, but I think now that it
starts to make the rounds a little bit. It's everywhere.
(01:56:27):
Oh he had this d U. Y if the Browns
didn't have a problem taking Baker number one? Uh, if
you were so appalled Alan because he grabbed his junk
on the sidelines at the Kansas game. Guess who wasn't
the Browns. Guess who wasn't too upset about Dak Prescott's
d U. I the Cowboys and they still drafted him,
even though apparently the Cowboys really wanted Connor Cook. True story.
(01:56:47):
So I'm just not gonna I don't think it makes
any sense to try to say, well, this guy did it,
Why not that guy who cares? Some people they're both rich.
Some people think, um, him planting the flag in the
middle of the field was worse than running away from
the police officer. Yeah, ask him Ohio State fans, so
I think they've forgiven him. And then one more quick
one here from Isaac Rights. Atlanta isn't in tank mode,
but Detroit is would be shocked if the Lions trade
(01:57:10):
out with Trey Lance on the board. Why wouldn't the
Lions go quarterback? Also love this as a Vikings fan,
hoping Waddle drops to fourteen and joins Jay Justin Jefferson
and Adam Feeling boy, that would be committing two first
round picks and back to back seasons at wide receiver.
I don't think the lines are gonna go quarterback, especially
since you have gone for the next couple of years.
(01:57:31):
But who knows. We go crazy about quarterbacks this time
of year, and as we were joking, there's like three
teams that you feel like wouldn't draft a quarterback in
the top fifteen, and so everyone just speculates that a guy.
As for what he said about Waddle, I don't think
he's gonna end up dropping that much. So you know,
obviously Smith and Waddle. If anybody's going to drop out
of wide receivers, it could be Smith. You may be
lucky and maybe he drops a couple of spots, but um,
(01:57:56):
other than that, I don't see anybody dropping two pre rights.
The Knicks versus the Lakers will be on the comedy channel.
Yeah it's uh and yeah, fast Daddy Bassman, Baseman, Batsman
to one, whatever it takes. Why no love for Sam Ellinger?
I just I think he's gonna be a third day selection,
and I think, uh, I think there'll be specialty packages
that he's used but I don't think he's viewed as
(01:58:16):
an NFL quarterback. We'll see when we come back. We'll

stinking genius. Where are we going with the picks tonight?
Give me a little music, put me in the mood.
Let's start at the top. Look it's going to happen.
I don't care what San Francisco says that Jimmy g
is the guy, and we're gonna keep them around. They're
not gonna keep them around. They're taking their quarterback in
the future who's going to play right away, and Jimmy
(01:59:22):
G is going to be moved. A matter of fact,
I wouldn't be surprised if they end up moving Jimmy
G this week or early next week. And you know
where he's going to go. He's going to go to
the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick. Belichick has no
other options. They're not gonna be able to trade up
the number four to get themselves a rookie quarterback and
they can't trust Cam Newton. Jimmy G coming back to
(01:59:44):
the Patriots, but they may have to pay a premium
on it and give up a first round pick. We'll
have to wait and see what happens there. Atlanta is
going to trade the number four pick, but not to Denver,
maybe to Dallas. Now, you say, why does Dallas want
to trade up the number four? They have a quarterback
because they want Pits. I hear that Jerry Jones just
infatuated with the guy and he wants him. Don't put
(02:00:05):
it past Jerry Jones a trade up to get somebody
like that. We'll see if that happens. My Knicks by
twelve points over the Lakers tomorrow. It's gonna be an
easy win. It's gonna be an easy win. The Knicks
are right now moving up that playoff charter to like
the seventh seed, eight seed. Yeah, they need to move
up a little bit. There's a big bunch up for
(02:00:28):
about five teams, all separated by about two games. So
look for my Knicks to clauber the Lakers. UM. I
don't think it's going to be Tommy Lloyd, the Gonzaga
assistant taking over for Arizona. UM. I'm gonna go on
a little bit of a long shot here. Say my
buddy Josh Pastner, did I say that he loves me?
(02:00:49):
Is going to be the new head coach at Arizona?
And Thursday Thursday, Chris Thursday, make sure you tune into
my Dodgers Walker Bueller will throw a hitter against the Rockies.
So there you have by picks. Do them as you please,
no longer strictly for entertainment purposes only. Thank you, Please
(02:01:12):
stop claiming the Dodges aren't he Yeah? Walker Brewer Thursday?
No hit her on Thursday? What are you gonna give me.
I'm pretty sure he's I feel like Walker Bieler is
gonna throw no hitter every time he goes out. But
I see what you're doing. You're doing what that Soley
Baseball twitter account did who Basically everyone kind of lost
their minds, being like, oh my gosh, because he had
(02:01:33):
tweet he or she whoever runs account, I had tweeted
on Friday night, what was so Today's On April nine,
two thousand one, the first no hitter in Padre's history
will be thrown by Joe Musgrove, And there was a
picture of Joe Musgrove and everyone lost their mind. I
was like, oh my gosh, this dude called the no hitter.
(02:01:53):
You know how hard that is to do? And then
come to find out he's done it like every single game.
It's like that whole thing that if you shoot it
on the air enough times, eventually you'll hit a duck.
So is it if you do it every single night
and you say all this night and then you meet
that tweet, that's not that's that's that's you're just you're
throwing it up and see if you would accept that
(02:02:15):
you but it's not Padres anyway. Fun show tonight again
Don't Forget You Can podcast. It had a couple of
tweets that I wanted to get to and we only
got a few minutes left before we get there. But
I did like this from Paul. Paul wraps up the
show with I love the Masters and I don't need
Tiger to enjoy it, but this wikd was trash. Chafle
(02:02:39):

Plus I think I would need to give Rory McElroy
strokes at this point. He is awful and he hit
his dad on the golf course whenever he was playing.
He actually bounced one off his pops, who was watching
in the gallery. I wouldn't go as far as saying
