Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports. Oh, let's go, stinking go.
Let's go, big Boy, let's go. You are you all
in on this game right now Saturday night? Oh, I'm
sucked in. Usually I'm giving Bobo a bunch of crap
before the show starts. He's like, what's wrong. I'm like,
I'm watching the met game. It was eight eight. They
took a run away. Now there's a runner on second.

(00:23):
I don't know. It hit the top of the fence.
The top of the fence is not a home run.
I don't understand. I've got to watch. I only saw
and by the way, I'm dying tonight. I just want
to let you know. They're ripping us off too. That
was strike three. They're not giving it to us. It's
ripping us all jaded towards the Philly. I just I'm
watching it with my own eyes. I can see what
a strike is. They got the little box up there.
I know what I'm talking about. It it's a prerequisite

(00:45):
for the job, big Boy. Absolutely. Um, I might die
during the show tonight. I'll have Yeah, I don't know
what's going on. It's, by the way, you can't be
sick anymore without someone like, oh he got COVID. No, no, no,
I have like this this allergy slash a sinus thing
that makes me want I have a pool outside my studio.
I might just go jump in my I might go
Sean McVeigh, who that was a straw? That was everything? Well?

(01:09):
I mean, you know, this whole COVID thing has has
really allowed me to do more work from home, which
is beneficial for you know, being able to jump into
a mossy pool that hasn't been well maintained. In case
I decide just to end it here. But I thought
the same thing. I saw one highlight. I thought, that's
not a that's not a home run. I thought, you
remember the old yellow lines and I I don't want you
hit the yellow line at the top it was gone.

(01:30):
But I need to watch a few more replays of
that bad boy here before I jump all on team
already right now. But that doesn't matter, doesn't matter. But
all the way, no, no panic whatsoever. It Mets win.
But I have a question. Have they Mets have they
had to come back win recently? I don't know. Don't

(01:52):
start with me, please, I don't mean it. In the
negat I had to watch I watched all eighteen innings
and then score one run against the Red Sox. Almost
poked my eyeballs out. Well they yeah, they did lose
that one one zip And how many innings did that go?
Did that really go? Was like twelve? They lost one
game two to one on one game one nothing something? Oh,
I see you're combining the two games. Well, they get
the win tonight eight seven the final scoring Sunday Night

(02:14):
Baseball and Artie, we gotta we gotta check our temps here.
This is the second straight week whenever we've opened up
talking about the Sunday Night Baseball game. Is this show
officially shifting to be a baseball show? Now? Now, when
you had the draft, you must have been in your
element on Thursday, Friday, Saturday or you loved it? Yeah?

(02:34):
I did real quick. I just have a couple of complaints.
I heard you last night. I know what your complaint was.
You you wanted to get the draft going and we
had to have like a rock concert and then whatever
that was, Boss Scott Shapiro, Few minds if I go
ahead and play a little music for thirty minutes before
we before we give our opinions, We'll just do like
A to Z real quick A C D C ZZ

(02:56):
top Zeppelin, and then we'll come back and we'll give
our opinions. I had to laugh because the start time
they weren't even close. Oh no, not at all, not
even close. That's why I was mad about the whole thing. Well,
and you're on the East coast and they pushed it
back to eight pm. Now. Granted, I felt like um
because I was kind of laughing along grumpy old man
in me and hey, I want the picks, I want

(03:18):
the analysis. Let's go was and I'm a big kings
of Leon guy because the Oklahoma Sooner fans, and I
was doing that. But then then I was like, can
we can? We can we go? Let's go? The chair
thing was corny, But then I realized at the core
of it, they're trying to become more They're trying to
make this more of a TV show. Right. That was
an ugly chair. You think Roger Goodell could afford a

(03:38):
better chair than that. You know, when you find a
coffee chair, are you gotta go with it? Is true?
That is true. You ought to see this horrible furniture
I have in my makeshift studio here. But here's my
other complaint because I do and I could spin, and
we will probably spend three hours tonight talking about the
draft looking back, even though nobody really has a clue
how it's gonna pan out. But I I crave draft grades,

(03:59):
even though it's you love that stuff, But I gotta
I gotta tell you something. Day three of the draft
has become such an afterthought. I almost wish and I'm
that kidding. I just started the road. My eyes were
just said, Dave three, I'm gonna stop and no think
about this Day three of the draft, Arnie. They basically
spend the whole show complete grading rounds one and two,

(04:22):
and then, even though they were better this year about it,
especially in the first and second and third rounds, when
they find someone who has this like incredibly tragic or
even just incredible backstory, then that becomes the focus while
like thirty picks are taking place, while they're still talking
about the quarterbacks that we're taking in the first round.
In my mind, I'm like, but we got like months

(04:42):
to to talk back about that first round. It's going
on right in front of our eyes, and I know
that you couldn't care less about some dude getting drafted
from I don't know East Eastwoodcheetah State or wherever. But still,
I mean, it's that guy's moment, and in that moment,
it's if you're watching NFL at where again, Daniel Jeremiah
or mel Kiper or if you're watching however you're consuming

(05:04):
the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh rounds, it's not them talking
about this dude. It's about them complaining about what happened
to day before on Thursday. So that that was my
on league right that I had. You know, yeah, did
it take him a while to get going on Thursday night?
I didn't even know it was rounds four through seven.
I thought it stopped after three. Oh my goodness, I'm
sure you did. You did you stopped after three? You

(05:25):
were you were done. I figured that you were ready
to come on here tonight and destroy the San Francisco
forty niners for taking Trey Lands because he's a small
school guy. He's only played eleven games, and you don't
care about college football unless it's Power five. So I
wasn't too well I said this one. I wasn't too
crazy about it too. If I'm gonna trade up to

(05:45):
number three, it wasn't gonna be for somebody from North
Dakota State. I've been I've been pretty consistent on that. Three.
As long as you have him, you might as well
play him. This whole thing about a way he's got
to learn for a year on the Jimmy Garoppolo. I
think it's a bunch of horse, you know what. I
I would not have Jimmy there, He'd be gone. I
would have traded into the Patriots or whatever. I had
to do. Too little, too late there. Um, I don't know.

(06:07):
Maybe Denver wants somebody he'd be gone. Um, twenty six
million dollars for a one year guy that's gonna be
a backup? Uh no, thank you. Look, you spent the
time waits to de pick. You might as well start
playing him now. Yeah. And I don't think I mean
you kind of showed your hand now right. I mean
they're not moving on from Jimmy. I mean, who really

(06:28):
needs him unless somebody gets hurt in training camp? Is
there a team now that starved for a starting quarterback?
We've seen all the movement, right and listen, Peter Prokowski's
coming up in our next segment. We'll see if that
massive shift is going to come with Aaron Rodgers and
we we I still keep my list, by the way,
for that over under of eight teen. Remember that we
talked about with quarterback changes, Aren'tie. We'll see if we

(06:50):
need to move Green Bay into that. So that would
be a massive seismic shift that we we we can't
even talk about right now our fathom right now, can you?
I was gonna say, real quick, can you give me
the backstory on after San Francisco took trade lance. Everybody
was giving fist bumps except what one person there wasn't
happy and although it was four to one, it was
four to one, and everybody was going crazy or what yeah?

(07:10):
I And then again I saw that same thing with
what the Eagles draft room where Howie Roseman was running
around and he was trying to get people fired up,
and he went over to that one scout and that
one scout like not having any of it. So I I,
you know what, I know, these teams probably don't like
a seen it, But I hear what you're saying, Arnie,
we need a story behind that. Hell, I think that
we need a whole backstory on this process of the

(07:31):
Niners moving up to three and then the decision making
process for instance, do do you believe them that they
knew that Lance was the guy they were going up together?
I I say no, But I guess I'm proven wrong
on that. Everybody disagrees with me. I think Bernie was
against the yesterday Mackenzie Rivers was against me. I think
Brady Quinn said the same thing. I I look, I

(07:53):
I thought when they made the trade, originally they wanted
ahead and wanted just In fields. And I don't know
when it had been or somewhere along the way, or
casually it happened, maybe over a week or a couple
of days. I don't know. I don't know what information
they found out they made the change. And you know
it's at that point, um you know then I'm like, okay,

(08:14):
so you know now now they change your mind. I
thought they always went ahead, made that trade to go
go ahead and get Justin fields, and you know what
I think, and you and I agree on one. I
guess you could say aspect of this because I think
they moved up, not necessarily to get fields, and not
even with Lantern mind. I think they moved up thinking

(08:36):
that there was a chance at Zack Wilson could fall
to And that's just my opinion, and I know that
that everyone that loves the Niners and one that covers
that team would would fire back and say, oh but
they Salo and I even use this sorgument Salo worked
with with Kyle Shanahan for ages and the offensive coordinator
is it had been with Shannahan since he was in Cleveland,

(08:56):
so they kind of knew. But I don't know. I
I think they moved up with the thought that there
was a possibility that Zack Wilson could slip to him,
and then when they moved on from Sam Donald and
you realize, Okay, Zach Wilson's going to That's kind of
how it plays. Out of my mind, I could be
d F W dead bleeping wrong, But just in my mind, Arnie,
I don't think they went up saying Trey Lance is
our guy. We've got to move hell or high water

(09:18):
to go get him. I just I'm never ever gonna
be convinced of that unless Kyle Shanahan is sitting right
in front of us saying, yeah, man, I fell in
love with the guy when I saw him play. I
don't know on film against South Dakota State. I don't
even know. It's like southern Illinois Carbondell or something. And
I don't know if you heard Mackenzie on with us
on Saturday night, but of course he is. His uncle

(09:40):
is Shanahan. So he bet Trey Lance like eleven to
one in Vegas that he was gonna be the number
three pick overall. He doesn't have any inside information, he said, buddy,
just no inside information and fun you know, I will say,
since since we've got a whole show tonight, Arnie, and

(10:00):
I know that me trying to break down what happened
in the fourth through the seventh round and those undrafted
free agents, I'll lose you real quick, are you well?
But that goodness of the Laker game to keep me
company with, right, But I'm not gonna go there yet.
I'm gonna wall I'll wait till later. But where the
quarterbacks ended up? Lawrence one, Wilson too, We knew that
Lance three, then the Bears moving up to get Fields

(10:22):
and mac Jones falling to the New England Patriots, not
necessarily to the teams that we thought maybe in the
order that we had kind of assumed. Once we moved
past this, mac Jones wasn't happening to San Francisco thing,
which I think most people realized wasn't happening when they
made the pick. But did all five not land in
a pretty good spot? I mean, I worry about Zack
Wilson being thrust into that starters role right away, But

(10:45):
you know, Mac Jones in New England kind of that
prototype of what Brady was, even though I don't I
don't think anyone's Tom Brady. Trey Lance maybe with some
time to learn in San Francisco. Justin Fields in Chicago,
now that's a good one. Not enough people were talking
about that. I look, yes, Trey Lance in a good position.
He'll sit one year, everybody says, and then you know,
if he's up there in San Francisco, the quarterback whisper

(11:05):
blah blah blah blah blah. Yeah, I understand that. And
of course can you write anything better for Mac Jones
from Nick Saban and Belichick just ended right there. But
but I also think Justin Fields is in a pretty
good position. Um, he's in Chicago, they'll have a good defense.
He'll become a fan favorite there. He doesn't have to
go ahead and do it all himself. He's certainly got

(11:26):
the talent I think. I think it's a great position
for him. There also, I agree, oh my gosh, what's
going on here with this show? When you take a
break and I told you I'm not feeling well and
it's and it's allergies, and they say when you have
sinus the issues, and if I used to have allergies
until I said, you know what, I'm not gonna have
I just put it in my mind. I don't want
him anymore. I think it's also because you moved to
Vermont and everything's always frozen. I think that he as

(11:47):
a kid, I used to get like a hundred shots
on each arm. I look like a junkie. And I said, enough,
I'm not I'm not taking allergy shots anymore. So you're
telling me that Arnie Spanier found the way to beat
allergies with your mind. What if I'm allergic to cats?
Do I just then decide? Mind over matter? Chris, mind
over matter? Okay? I just want to give everyone some advice.

(12:08):
Don't follow that theory. Give it a try. It's not
gonna work. Okay, we got a big show coming up tonight.
Now we've kind of buried the lead here as far
as big stories from the NFL, and nobody is more
dialed into the Green Bay Packers than our man Peter Bikowski.
You know what's been wild to follow on this front,
arn'tie is kind of how it went from everyone's on
Team Errand and then everyone's on kind of the team Packers,

(12:29):
and it's just been packing forth. It's been to speak
to Pete. Do's do we have to speak to Mike
Tariko and Mike Tarriko will tell us what Pete have
to say. Isn't that what Aaron Rodgers is doing? I
didn't know if Mike is Mike Tariko a spokesman for
everybody green Bay? Is that I had to laugh to
If you've got a napalm everything, just own it, right,
if you're if you're gonna come out and say that

(12:50):
you're not happy, just just own it like you're You're
entitled to your privacy and that's fine. And if you
want to enjoy the Kentucky Derby, great fun, but fun.
I have a blast, But just stop by tarikoybody's business
exactly now You've suddenly opened it up turd ferguson to
make it everyone's everyone's business. So we'll get to that
with Peter coming up in just a bit, we're gonna

(13:11):
head the Vegas. Todd Ferman is going to be in
the house with us an now our number two to
talk about everything that I guess one and lost from
the draft, and we got buy or sell a full
NFL draft recapetition coming up in our three speaking of
the draft, our draft coverage on Fox Sports Radio. It
is all brought to you by net Sweet. You're still
running your business on QuickBooks like quicksand the bigger your

(13:31):
company grows, the faster you seink with outdated software. Right now,
net sweet is offering a one of a kind financing
program that's special financing at net sweet dot com slash
draft net sweet dot com slash Draft. When we come back,
we're heading towards Green Bay Way. What's the latest on
Aaron Rodgers. Peter Blukowski will update us right here with

(13:52):
Antian Plank on Fox Sports Radio, Aretian Plank on Fox
Sports Radio, Bubbo on the Wheels and Steal lead a
Lap prouced a great program tonight. I got some big
time guests coming up, like our man Peter Bikowski, who
joined us right now. You know Peter from UH the
Locked on Packers podcast and Locked On Daily. Also, he
writes for Espee Nation. Uh, Peter, first and foremost, thanks

(14:14):
for coming on, man, what what were the last couple
of days like for you and not only covering this story,
but people like us bugging you to come on and
tell you about tell us about what's going on and
and just trying to get to the bottom of what's
real and this and what isn't. Well, I just want
to thank you, guys, because, um my, my son, who's
almost a year old, is sleeping through the night, and

(14:34):
now I'm starting starting to feel like when he was
an infant, and I'm only getting two or three hours
a night because I'm I'm calling people, I'm doing radio hits,
I'm trying to figure out what the heck is going
on around your guys. Well, Pete, right, take us through
the timeline. I mean, it wasn't like this came out
of nowhere, or did it come out of nowhere? Were
you surprised about it? You know, I was surprised at

(14:57):
the rate at which this story it celebrated. And I
guess what I mean by that is, you know, we
knew he was unhappy ke being Aaron Rodgers when Jordan's
love was picked and he went on you know, Pat
McAfee show, He went on Kyle Brand's podcast and you know,
expressed his frustration with the pick, and that seemed reasonable.

(15:18):
He is a an athlete who UM speaks with. I
wouldn't say an unprecedent amount of of UM fourth right honesty,
but I think it's someone who speaks more about how
he's feeling and what he's going through UM than the
average athlete. You know, Russell Wilson publicly would certainly not

(15:41):
handle this the same way. Although ironically, Russell Wilson, we
went through this with him. Like you guys, remember that
he leaves five teams that he wanted to go to
like five minutes ago, right, So this is just one
of those things that that has happened. This has been
the offseason of discontentment for quarterbacks in the NFL. It seems, UM,
but that it accelerated to this level, I think is

(16:01):
is really surprising. UM. But the more I started talking
to people UM around the team, around the league, UM,
at first, it sounded like people assumed this was a
leverage thing, a ploy to get the Packers to negotiate
a longer term deal. Obviously that was um something that
he wanted. But now it sounds like green Bay has
has made those you know, acquiescence and and that they

(16:22):
have decided, hey, look we you know, if you want
a contract, we can do a contract. Um. But Roger says,
dug in. So unfortunately, uh, you know, Adam Schutterer said
this on the air on ESPN when the story broke.
The Packers don't really know what to do. And I'm
gonna be honest, guys, I don't know what Aaron Rodgers wants. Now.
We got some hint of it in the Charles Robinson

(16:43):
peace and Yahoo that maybe the only way that there
can be reconciliation here is if Brian Utikins is no
longer with the organization. I gotta be honest, I don't
see that happening. But you know, I talk to some
people around the league and and you know, we sort
of spitballed some ideas that we thought maybe he could
work in that circum stance. I don't know that green
Bay would be amenable to them, but um, yeah, it

(17:05):
is unprecedented turmoil, I would say, except that, hey, guess
what ten years ago, twelve years ago, the Packers went
through this exact same thing with Brett Farves. So this
is this is not new ground for Packers fans at Peter,
I'm curious from what you've been able to gauge whose
side is the fans on right now? Are they on
team Rogers? Are they starting to realize that maybe they

(17:27):
need to be team Packers here? What are you getting?
You know what's fascinating about this is right away, it
seemed like every every media personality and and most of
the fans were on Roger's side. They were going, look,
they drafted Jordan's love. They didn't want to give him
a contract, they didn't draft any help for him. And
then as we got some more details, as the Packers

(17:48):
came out and said for the reporting you know, was oh,
they actually offered him a deal. They've been working on
this for months, and this is actually really just about
you know, Rogers being upset that he wasn't told about
Jordan's love of I have felt the tide turning um
with fans and I noticed on the draft the NFL
they're their very own media apparatus. You know, Daniel Jeremiah

(18:11):
goes on Rich Eyes and asks Daniel Jeremiah, what do
you think, you know, how do you think this is
going to play out? Him DJ says, I talked to
a GM and the GM said, I asked him what
what the GM would do, and the GM said to
call his BLUSS. And I thought that was a pretty
startling thing to hear on the NFL's own airways, because
they had been decidedly less dramatic about this. You know,

(18:34):
Ian Rappapore has praised it more like this is a
contract dispute nearon Rodgers is unhappy, whereas you know, Adam
Schefter and and ESPN is making it seem like the
sky is falling and maybe this guy is falling. Guys,
we that's the that's the problem is we don't really
know what the truth is here, um, but we do
know that that Rodgers is unhappy. So I'm still trying

(18:57):
to parse what is happening here. It seems like Rodgers
is dug in. Um, the Packers are dug in. And
what I thought was really interesting is Brian Gutikins said,
even after the news broke, he only got one phone
call from Teams because Green Bay had previously made it
crystal clear that they are not going to trade Aaron
Rodgers So if the rest of the league understands that

(19:18):
they're just not gonna They're not going to negotiate here,
then I don't know what leverage Rodgers has left unless
he really thinks that going to host Jeopardy and paying
back twenty nine million dollars in grinding bonus, is that
is a tenable solution. I can't see that if I'm
going to be on it. Yeah. Yeah. By the way,
this is the next question for Mike Tarriko. Mike, I

(19:39):
want to know what was that about. I mean, come on, now,
gonna speak Tarrico, and Tarrico will speak out his baffo
was out about that? Was that was really bizarre, And
you know it's one of those things where he showed
up and we don't even need to talk about the fashion.
But let's be honest, it wasn't great. Um, and you

(20:01):
know he declines to speak in front of the microphone, right,
he declared. I mean, there were cameras everywhere, there's a
red carpet to walk and he went out of his
way to not be on camera. Um. But except for
that weird I don't know if you guys saw that
the photo that went viral, he did an interview with
a random media company with the name tag that said
Turk Ferguson like the old SNL Celebrity Jeopardy skip um.

(20:26):
But to have what is essentially a pr statement read
through Mike Tariko, I thought was a fascinating way to go.
And I talked to a couple of people. I gotta
I got a message right away from someone uh in
the league who said, that's a hedge that Aaron Rodgers
understood that that the tide had started to turn on
him a little bit and he wanted to be able
to walk it back. And sure enough, in that Charles Robinson,

(20:48):
Peas and Yahoo, um, it's in there that Rogers is
leaving the door open to be able to walk this back.
That in fact wouldn't even be the first time that
he's had to walk back some some you know, bold
proclamations about his place within the team. So um, I
thought that was really interesting, you know, the the I'm
gonna I want to be in Green Bear. I like

(21:08):
Green Bay now I want to be in Green Bay.
But I like green bad love Green Bay. Um, you know,
and all that stuff. Oh, I'm disappointed in in that
in that it came out Okay, so the Packers league
this to look really bad. That's where it came from. Like,
don't insult my intelligence. I know where the league came from.
We all know where the league came from. UM, so

(21:28):
that part of it is is kind of bizarre. But
I think I think the Packers front office is saying
everything that they need to say. Brian goutikin saying, if
if you know twelve wants to offer input, he can
offer input. He's never asked to offer input. That's an
interesting bit of you know, even if it's just pr spin,
it's an interesting bit of of a statement to make.

(21:48):
But they admitted, hey, we you know, we screwed up
communication on this. We should have been more forthright with
with Rogers. And then of course I just thought it
was so Chef's gets perfect, the Bear's trade up to
take a quarterback, and then the leak that they told
Andy Dalton like they needed to tell Andy Dalton. But
it was just so very clearly a troll of the
Packers and Aaron Rodgers to say, hey we told Andy
Dalton and Rodgers you know, it's just incensed that that

(22:12):
is taking place, And it was just it was such
a clear manipulation. I loved it. I absolutely loved it.
Final thought for me, Pete And and again, I'm a
big fan of having content like this during the summer,
But I also want Peter Bikowski to have time with
his son and to rest a little bit when he's uh,
when he's not doing the locked on daily. Is there
a timetable on this? I mean, is this kind of

(22:32):
evergreen for a while? And is it kind of who
blinks first? Yeah, it's staring contest, is the metaphor I've
been using. So that's a that's a great way to
frame it. So the first domino was the draft, and
I think the reason that we saw it leaked on
you know, draft Day, was because Rogers felt like that
was when he had maximal leverage. When a team like

(22:52):
the Broncos could offer a top ten pick right now.
If the team wants to offer a flew of first
round picks, it will those those picks will only come
after Aaron Rodgers is theoretically on that team, in which
case we can assume that those picks will not be
in the top ten. If they want to trade for
Aaron Rodgers cannot offer a top three pick, but they

(23:14):
could on Draft night, and so that that decreases Rogers
leverage significantly. That the contract is also a big part
of this, because if Green Bay were to trade him
right now today, they have to eat thirty million in
dead cap. Well, if they trade him post June one,
about half that. So that's a big part of this.
So we we got through draft night. You know, once

(23:35):
we got through pick ten, I was texting with, uh,
someone in the league. I said, once we get past
pick ten, will know that Rodgers isn't isn't getting traded tonight,
because that's those were the those were the places that
that we felt like, you know, Denver was the place
that felt like they were going to get him. And
and you know, uh, I believe Denver thought that they

(23:55):
had a good chance to do it um based on
what I've or so you know, it sounded like it
was never as close as they thought it was or
and certainly as some people in the media thought it was. UM.
But June one is the other the other date to
keep an eye on. You can't designate a trade June
one the same way you can designate a cut June one. Um. Now,
you could agree in principle to something, but you know,

(24:18):
Green Bay. If they've been resolute through the draft, it's
hard for me to believe that they are going to
be less resolute through June one. So I would say
we are not going to hear anything on this for
at least a month um and then once we get
closer to training camp, if it sounds like Aaron Rodgers
is going to engage in some sort of holdout, then
maybe we start to think about, Okay, you know, what

(24:39):
does this look like his green Is he really going
to retire or his green and his Green Bay gonna
let him? Or are they going to say we're we're
gonna We're gonna maximize the value that we can get
for him. Now. I don't have a good answer for that,
but my guess is over the next month, we don't
hear that much about this except Rogers camp leaking hey,
we want to play for the Raiders and and making

(25:01):
Chris very happy. I would be very happy with that.
Keep up the great work, man. I love locked on
daily and I know you're busting it on this story.
Thanks for your time as always, man. I hope you
get some rest soon. Thanks, guys, appreciate it. I love
that dude. Peter Pikowski lock On Daily Locked On podcast.
All right, we'll have more on it coming up here
in just a second. But first, the man who truly

(25:21):
runs this show, right, Steve, gets just caught up on
everything going on in the world of sports. What's up, Steve?
Anything along those lines is truly news to Nie. He
thinks he runs the network. At the Mets, boy, have
at that game tonight, the Mets one at Philadelphia, eight
to seven. The Mets scored six times in the top

(25:42):
of the eighth bottom of the night. It looks like
the Phillies had the tying three run homer from Reesa Hoskins,
it was overturned. The ball hit the top of the
fence and came back on the field, then getting the
closer out of there. Finally, Rus Familia got to say
for the Mets, striking out Bryce Harper to end the game.
Eight It's seven New York the Mets starter David Peterson
and no decision with five innings, one run. Good start

(26:04):
from Philadelphia Zach Eflyn six inning, seven strikeouts, but again
no decision. As for the Dodger game today, they were
up sixteen to one at one point at Milwaukee, using
all their runs for the next two weeks, no doubt,
sixteen to four was the final the Dodgers. For the
first time in the dodgers very long history, they had
at least seven RBIs in a game from two different

(26:25):
players in the same game. In fact, they hadn't had
two Grand Slams in the same game in over twenty years.
They did that in the first two innings today. By
the way, the last Major League team that had two
guys with at least seven RBI same game that was
two thousand seven, when Texas won a thirty to three decision.
This was a mere sixteen to four. Dodgers m r

(26:48):
I tomorrow for picture Dustin May, who's on the injured
list officially today arm injury last night in his start
he left, or at least so. The Dodgers now have
eight pitchers eight pictures on the injured list, plus Cody Bellinger.
Also Cincinnati and ten Ennings a thirteen to twelve win
over the Cubs. Each team had five homers. Texas, with

(27:09):
three in the bottom of the eighth, beat Boston five
to three. The Yankees and Corey Kluber down Detroit to nothing.
Tigers have lost five in a row and in d
C Max schers or with a complete game, nine strikeouts,
no walks, three one the final over Miami. Washington's won
four in a row St. Louis one. It's fourth in
a row as well. In the NBA, the late game
has started the second half in l A. You know,

(27:31):
Lebron James is back, Anthony Davis is back. I don't
think the defense is quite back. Halftime it was seventy
two to fifty nine Toronto. That is well, there's your answer.
Riots happening right now. The Lakers were leading with five
and a half minutes to go in the first half,
it was fifty nine, and then the Raptors went on
a twenty three to six run. By the way of

(27:52):
the first twenty four minutes, twenty four free throws for
the Raptors as well in this one. Phoenix won again tonight,
one to one twenty at Oklahoma City, Okay, see, still
with one victory since March. But the Sun's really the
story here now. Tied for first place with Utah in
the Western Conference and in the East. Brooklyn lost today,
so that meant Philly was tied for first place with

(28:13):
the Nets going into action tonight. That Brooklyn lost, was
won seventeen fourteen at Milwaukee ONNESE Antenna Kumbo forty nine points,
and then tonight Philadelphia one in overtime at San Antonio
one one eleven on Ben Simmons game winning tipping at
the buzzer. So the seventy sixers are alone in first
in the Eastern Conference. Half game up on the nets,
and by the way, Milwaukee will be hosting the nets

(28:35):
again on Tuesday. Kyle Bush took the NASCAR race at
Kansas on his thirty six birthday. Kevin Harvick finished second,
Brad Keslowski third. It is for Bush his first Cup
Series victory this year, the tenth different winner in the
eleven races so far. Bush won the Truck Series race
there last night as well on FS one. Back to you,

(28:55):
thanks Steve. By the way, Arnie and Plank of Fox
Sports Radio brought you in part by Navi and for
hot water that never runs out to go tankless with Nava.
Navia and Tankless water Heaters provide endless hot water for
spotlight comfort. Visit Tankless made Simple dot Com and save

(29:15):
stop watching that highlight of the home run. I'm sorry
the ground rule double. I just I didn't have the sound.
What did they say? Top of the fence? Not a
home run because it hit the top of the fence
and there's no more lines that dictate what's over and under. Yeah,
and in each stadium has their own rules. Yeah, that
definitely wasn't a home run. Wow. The more when I

(29:36):
first saw it in real time, I thought that it
had hit off a chair or something. Yeah, But I
also can't help but wonder if there might have been
a chance that that could have ended up being more
than a double. Not that it really matters right now,
but regardless, heck of a way to finish again, and
you had the Alonso Grand Slam. I mean, or excuse

(29:57):
me the Lelanzo's basis clearing everything was just rolling for
the mats and then kind of in Mets like fashion,
they make it too much fun near the end of
the game, AREN'TI But that's how they've been. Believe the
best team in New York is the New York Knicks.
How about that? Not only are they good, but I
meant I don't want to I don't want to. I

(30:19):
don't want to go that far. I was I'm not
going to say championships, No, it's not possible. By the way,
can I congratulate you? Why is that on your Oklahoma
City team? Only losing by fifty fifty seven? Is how
what it was? I think they were down seventy at
one point in that. I'm not even here's here's how.

(30:41):
But I was gonna say that Julius Randall is an
m VP candidate and I would vote for him. But
since you decide that you just want to make this
championship or bust for the Knicks this year, I follow
obviously a lot of people that cover the Thunder, and
I realized how sad it is the state of this
franchise is in right now where I see one of

(31:02):
the um, one of the guys who kind of covers
them every single step. There was like fifty people covering
him a year ago. Now there's like three. Well, I mean,
it's just it's it's sad. I mean, they're horrible and
and they're taking if you play here's what the Thunder do.
If you're Oklahoma City fan, you know this. A guy
plays well and then they bench him. It's like, oh no.

(31:23):
Lu Dort scored forty. He's out, but real quick to sega.
The guy who covers the Thunder his name Steve mcgehey.
He works for Channel nine in Oklahoma City. They're down thirteen. Okay,
they're down thirteen. And his tweet is Oklahoma City really
making the Sun's work. And I'm like, they're down there,
don't you know? The Sun's franchise had lost sixteen in

(31:47):
a row at Oklahoma City. But this is the Thunder
roster that's gonna end that. You can be sure. We're
already brought up last night for the record, it was
only a sixty seven point lead, that one al right
for indeed, sorry, but that was was four minutes left,
so there was a chance at an all time NBA record.
The record is in the Miami Heat, who had been

(32:09):
a recent expansion team, lost a game by sixty eight,
and the Thunder were down sixty seven with four minutes
left and they only lost by fifty seven. Last night,
Demonte Siponis had a triple double just in the first half.
So I mentioned earlier that okay See has one victory
since March. That's one and seven again the Celtics. Yeah,
in Boston, by the way, it's just not good. And

(32:32):
here's the thing that that makes it even worse. They're
tanking and they're not even like going to be the
top pick in the draft. Then less they win the lottery.
And I think the whole point is that you want
to try to get Kate Cunningham. I would assume Tim
could you imagine from Oklahoma State would be huge, It
would be huge. But I mean, who knows. They They've
got eight, They've got more draft picks over the next
five years, and you can actually have people on your roster.

(32:55):
So I don't know how they're I don't know how
they're gonna work that out. But you know, guys, for
the good of the league, let's see if Adam Silver
could do something about that. If you know what I mean,
Hey Knicks fan, what does that mean? What are you
talking about? You know, when they started the lottery and
Patrick Ewing magically went to the Knicks because the corner
was turned up on the car and we all know
all that I thought it was it was an envelope.
I didn't know it was the corner. I thought the

(33:16):
corner was turned up. What's wrong with you? By the way,
Justin and Cincinnati just checked in since we were talking
a little baseball there, rights, I bet the Mets won't
score eight combined runs into Grom's next three starts, probably
next four starts. Why stopping three right on four? You know,
if you were smart, you would bet against the Grom
when he's like three to one. Favorite Mets don't score

(33:37):
for him, as we'll just start betting against him. It's unbelievable.
Do they just realize that he's gonna shut everyone out
so you don't have to do anything at the play?
Is that what it comes to you for the match?
Whenever the Gram's on the mats exactly exactly. We got
a lot of really good tweets, and I need to
get too on the show. In fact, Paul just to
send in a doozy he had to. Whoever NFL headquarters
came up with a chair bit should be updating the

(33:58):
resume right now. No, no, you kidding me? Did you
see it? Roger Goodell loved it. It was the funniest
thing ever. I mean, every single time he came out,
he's like kind of point of the fans on him
who got picked? And then he even made a pick
from the chair at one point, had a hiss him
and M's. He thought that was the funniest thing ever.
That dude doesn't have to update his resume. All right,
he's probably getting a raise, he's probably getting elevated. Whoever

(34:20):
came up with that, I think, yeah, what what? I
didn't really dig it. You know, it wasn't a very
nice It was corny, but if the NFL seemed to
love it. So I got more good tweets coming up,
including a recap of the draft. We'll talk with Todd
firm and coming up next time, Viking News too. We
got Viking News. We had Viking News. What are you
trying to kiss up to the boss now after trying
to move the Timberwolves out of Minnesota? Is that what

(34:41):
you're doing? You're trying, You're trying to talk. You want
to get you want to get it up now that
you've realized that you've tried to move the Timberwolves to Vegas?
Are you trying to bring up Minnesota sports? Do you
want me to get some twins talk in here when
we come back. No, we got some Viking News. We'll
get too. Now he's cowboys. I'm sorry I said I
met the cowboys. Uh, now you're in bigger trouble. What
do you do one, Artie? We got Dallas Cowboy news

(35:01):
that we'll get to next with. Already in Plank on
Fox Sports Radio. Already in Plank Fox Sports Radio on
a Sunday night into a Monday morning, already mentioned a
little breaking news. Tomorrow is the deadline for when teams
can decide to decide exercise the fifth year option on

(35:24):
first year draft picks from the You know, my math
isn't really good from the two thousand and eighteen NFL
draft to so uh arnie Cowboys deciding not to pick
up the fixture. I guess the term would be exercise
the fifth year option on Layton Vandersh who in the
two thousand and eighteen draft was the nineteenth overall pick

(35:45):
in the first round. I thought they said when they
picked up Parsons, it's not gonna affect what that's going
to do with Vandresh. Was I mistaken on that? Did
I make that up or did I see that somewhere?
I'm a little confused. You know, maybe they had decided
that they weren't going to pick up this option for
a while. Think that's like, maybe you're right about that.
That's a good point. I don't know to be honest
with you, but I will say the bottom line with

(36:06):
vander Ish and I think Bobo, who is a die
hard down that boy fan can attest to I know
you love Bobo, can attest to it better than anyone. Um.
His best ability is his availability. And the dude hasn't
played all sixteen games what since his rookie season, right, Bobo,
I mean nine games when he was a starter in
nineteen only half the season this year. It's problematic pretty much.
I mean he has given us some good moments, but

(36:28):
I mean, dude, your injury prone. Like, yeah, come on,
you're gonna get it. You can get him on on
the cheap kind of So if if there'll be a
place for him, there's no doubt about that, somebody's gonna
get a good player. Uh. Bradley Chubb's fifth year option
was exercised right as the draft started for the Nuggets.
For the Nuggets, listen to me. For the Bronco, Sam

(36:49):
Donald had his fifth year option exercised, as did Lamar Jackson.
Now the key here is Arnie that you can still
end up signing him to a long term contract just
because they haven't picked up his fifth year option. Doesn't
mean that he's gone from the Cowboys after this year,
but it's a pretty good indication that you better go

(37:09):
out and have yourself a good season or you're gonna
be on the free agent market looking for war. Amen
to that, and especially with Shawn Lee retiring, Um, you know,
he really probably thought to himself, Okay, they have to
keep me around. But like you said, hen went thirteen
games over the last two years. That's a no, no,
not that, not that position to you can't afford to
do that. Yeah, like you said, the best abilities availability

(37:30):
doesn't have that right now, you know. Okay, he from
Salam you know, one of our anchors here at Port Radio.
He also brought up a good point that you know
there are that meaning guaranteed contracts in the NFL. So
if you do get hurt, like he said, back when
he played, he rever getting hurt going to the locker
room and then like like literally just brushing it off

(37:51):
and going back out to play to find out that
he had a serious Like legendry, I forgot what the
injury was. And nowadays, like I guess people just fall
I'm hurt. I can take a cup games off. But
the problem is that person is sitting there waiting on
you is now gonna play harder to try to get
your spot, and now good luck trying to get your
spot back if they actually are playing good. Here's a
couple of other names to keep an eye out over

(38:12):
the next I guess you could say less than twenty
four hours. Se Kwon Barkley with the Giants. They have
deciety or at least made a public on him. Um
Josh Allen, I thought he got a new contract extension.
Maybe I missed that somewhere, but he's on the list
of fifth year option players who are still to be determined. Uh.
This was last updated on May one, so fairly recent. Um.

(38:35):
Calvin Ridley with the Falcons is an interesting name, as
is Derwin James with the Chargers. So I think the
Chargers just picked up his fifth year option. Uh. And
Sony Michelle with the Patriots Arney, I don't think they'll
pick up his options, especially as they drafted a running back. Also, yeah,
they did draft a running back. They drafted a Sooner,
so look out. You better get to know mondre Stevenson, Artie.

(38:56):
You got two Sooners now in your backyard and Remandre
Steve Son and Ronnie Perkins, two really good picks. U. D. J.
Moore is on this list for Shaun Evans, Frank right
now Jaire Alexander among others whose fifth year option will
be determined. And again that deadline is tomorrow morning at
well tomorrow morning tomorrow afternoon at four eastern. You surprise

(39:17):
at all by that, Arnie about the late vanderash or
matt Um. I guess you could, like you said, you
can always sign them to a long term deal later on,
so you better have the year of your life and
the fact that they you know, drafted parts. It's just
a good business decision. I guess it really shouldn't surprise
me at all in that part, all right, A couple

(39:37):
of other quick tweets before we get out of here.
You mentioned the Vikings and then you somehow did a
right turn and went away from him. A Reek writes,
I couldn't pick any of the Vikings draft pick out
of a lineup that said, the first four to five
picks look to feel needs mind being a possible future quarterback,
to starting offensive lineman at edge rusher, and a linebacker
to go with barn Hendricks. Is it September. Yet I

(39:58):
will say this, and I know we like a minute
to break it down. Said, I read that too. That's
why I said, Vikings, when you're reading that while you
were talking about that happens to me all the time,
so I can completely understand it. I know we only
have a minute, but I want to kick off next hour.
We're talking about the quarterbacks that were taken beyond the
first round, because we had six quarterbacks go in the
first three rounds, which I blew my mind. That's the

(40:20):
most quarterbacks that have gone in the first three round
in the modern era. That's sounds crazy. Had four go
in the first round or what um five? No? Four?
Five total go in the first round, and then you
have the six to go in the second round. So
it was six in the first two rounds, aren't which
was the most they've ever had through the first two rounds.
But then you get Kellen Mond go in that third round,
and that's really high to go for a quarterback, especially

(40:42):
a guy when you have a dude under contract. So
what does that mean for the Vikings in the future.
We'll get into that. And obviously Kyle Trask and Tampa
what is his future look? Like and is the starting
quarterback for the Houston Texans. The do they just picked
this weekend. We'll talk about it coming up next hour
with Arnie and Plank right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Middlecoff and I host the Three and Out Podcast? Do
you like football? Do you like the NFL? Do you
like the NFL draft quarterbacks? Coaches? Well, I talked about
it all on the show. I used to work for

(41:25):
Andy Reid as a scout. Now I give you my
unfiltered and raw opinions on everything that goes on the NFL.
And you know we're talking college football because of how
important the draft is year round. Listen to the Three
and Out Podcast with me, John middlecop on the I
Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.

(41:45):
Oh yes, our to Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports
Radio on a Sunday night into a Monday morning. Let
me correct one thing I screwed up. Oh yeah, I
knew you just screwed something up. I knew it. I'm
sure you did. I said, sick, there were eight quarter
back selecting in the first three rounds. I knew. I
was about to say, what about the year that that
Marino went, There was six in the first round that year?

(42:07):
Eight quarterbacks selected in the first three rounds is the
most in NFL draft history. You and the seer do
that all the time. But I mean, again, that's amazing, right,
because I was thinking the same thing. I was thinking, boy,
that doesn't seem right. So I was seriously, there was
six in the first round of the year Marino was thinking,

(42:27):
wasn't there was that was? It wasn't. There was no
other ones after that. It was like they didn't have
another quarterback on the behalf of the rest of us.
By the way, Arnie knocking it off, it's right, but no,
the so I and Josh Allen's and yes, for the
for tomorrow's deadline that you were talking about, Josh Allen

(42:48):
Kwan Barkley's, Yes, it just hasn't happened yet. With Buffalo,
they focused on the draft and you don't have to
worry about not having it done by tonight. Right, you
got to four eastern tomorrow. It's just merely a letting
his agent know and then they've got to let the
league know and boom, You're you're set with your fifth
year options. And by the way, that that carries over
from last hour, the big story that broke near the

(43:09):
end of the hour was that Laton Vandersh would not
have his option picked up. According to it, I think
it was the Dallas Morning News. Michael Gerkin had the
report on that. If I'm not mistaken, I saw him
Pro Football Talk. So and by the way, if you
had five seconds to answer this, U K. Barcy is
a bust? Yes or no? Right now? Yes? Damn? Right? Is?
Oh my goodness, But I mean I'm not. I guess

(43:30):
I'm getting soft in my old age? Are I really?
Am I am? Because everyone's like, oh, yeah, he's a bust,
he said. I mean everyone's just I was reading that
list that you sent me, Artie said. Artie's big in analytics. Now,
I'm sure you guys can tell this from all that.
I said that to you, but I didn't want you
to read it on the air. But go ahead, right right, No,
But but here's here's what I'm talking about. The ridiculous
nature of it. Everyone's acting like Alex Leatherwood getting taken

(43:51):
in the first round is the most dastardly thing that's
ever happened. When one tackle went after him in the
first round one, so the Raiders we're going tackle. He
was the highest rated player on the board, so they
took him over one other player. But this, this total
tells you how ridiculous I think it is. This Uh
oh gosh, this athletic piece takes every single big board

(44:13):
out there, right, Arnie Spaniers big board, Bobo's big board,
uh if, Jay Glazer and everyone that does one. The
dudes like Mel Kuyper and tries to have an average
number for instance, Uh, Brandon Stevens who went later to
the Ravens was to fifty five as the actual ranking
on the average big board on four overall, right, pretty
significant dip. Alex Leatherword was would was considered the biggest reach.

(44:37):
He was picked seven. Team consensus on the big board
was that he was a forty ranked player. I'm looking
at the dude right below him that's considered to reach
where he was ranked two ninety three and he went
a hundred and nineteen, So you're talking about over a
one hundred pick difference from where he was ranked to
where he was actually picked. But you have to do

(44:57):
that was twenty eight uh below where everyone kind of
projected him is a big reach. It feel like you're
telling me. I feel like you're telling me your fantasy
football team or something like that. When you when you're
doing all that, this is your fault. You sent this
to me. But I always said I said that to
you because it was really about the story was about
who got the best value for your picks. If you're

(45:19):
looking at the teams in the draft, the Bears had
the best draft according by value, then the Chiefs, the Broncos,
the Browns, and you understand what that value is. No,
I don't care. Really, I really didn't care. But I
just thought I would say that it's like playing monopoly.
It's like playing a board game. For me, I have
no idea. Well, and I was explaining to you that,

(45:39):
but you made my head hurt. All right, Well, let's
get to something that will be much simpler for you.
Here an how number two already playing. By the way,
speaking the draft, our draft coverage on Fox Sports Radio
is all brought to you by net. Sweet, You're still
running your business on QuickBooks. It's more like quicksand the
bigger your company grows, the faster you sync with outdated software.
Right now, net sweet is offering a one of a

(46:00):
kind financing program. That's a special financing at NetSuite dot com.
That's net sweet dot com slash draft nets sweet dot
com slash a draft Arnie. We haven't really gone all
in on the Quarterback Show. We talked a little bit
about Zack Wilson, a little bit about Trey Lance. We
all know that you expect Trevor Lawrence to take over
the football world and make the Jaguars a playoff team.

(46:24):
I think the fields pick in Chicago, and and again
we've talked a lot about it. I don't know if
it's been talked about enough. I mean, there's two guys,
Ryan Pace to the general manager and their head coach,
Matt Naggy, whose backs are against the wall. What are
they known for. They're known for training up to get
Mitch Rabinsky when both Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson are

(46:45):
on the board, right, That's that's what they're known for.
And what do they do? They move up to eleven
and they end up getting what some might think it's
the best quarterback in this draft. I thought that was
a super move. Oh, I don't know, it was fantastic.
I'm saying to myself, you know you thought things we're
gonna go ahead and fall. I was waiting to see.
Once I saw that the Falcons were all locked in
the pits, I'm like, Okay, this thing is gonna go

(47:06):
ahead and start having a couple of twist and turns.
I was surprised about a few of the picks. And
then I'm saying to myself, the Patriots are going to
look into one of the quarterbacks. They're gonna look in
either mac Jones or they're gonna go ahead and maybe
trade up or get look into somebody like just the fields.
Remember Chris Simms had just the fields fall out the
number thirty two, and I'm calling the guy a tope.

(47:27):
I'm like, there's no way that could happen. I go, wait,
wait a minute, he's two got two quarterbacks following. Now,
if if New England takes one, who who knows what
happens to the other. Um. But no, the fact that
Chicago saday, no, no, no, that's not gonna happen. We'll
trade up. We want this guy. Great move. I think
it's fantastic. Sorry Andy Dalton, Sorry Nick Foles. You guys

(47:49):
should never touch the field, um whatsoever. He's got some
weapons around them. It's not like the cabinets are bear there.
I I I love what they've got there. I I
mean I I'd be putting money on the Bears, the
wind the division. Now, with that in mind, the fifth
quarterback to go in the first round, as you mentioned,
was Mac Jones and Bill Belichick didn't have to move up.
We all thought there was gonna be a massive move

(48:10):
upcoming to get mac Jones and he falls right in
his lap. Arnie, is is this a Day one dude?
I think it's a great fit. You know, the the
question was never if Mac Jones is a good quarterback, right,
The question is was he worthy of the third pick
in the draft? That was the big debate. So to me,
they kind of say, yeah, you know what, he he
wasn't they took Trey Lance falls to Belichick. I think

(48:33):
it's a pretty good fit. I don't know if he's
a Day one guy, but it's a hell of a
landing spot for him. I don't know who came up
with this report, yesterday and um that the cow that
the Patriots will use Mac Jones as their starter and
then anything inside the twenty yard line they'll bring in,
They'll bring in Cam Newton. I I find that hard
to believe. But who knows. Nothing puts you know, nothing

(48:56):
goes pastor when when it comes to Belichick out there,
my order is Mac Jones. I'm not sold on Cam.
The guy didn't have a good year last year. I
don't need to see another year of it. He's just
going to be average and that's the best. He's lost
anything of every any athletic ability that he had. Yeah,
sure he had a lot of rushing touchdowns, but but

(49:18):
the Patriots were just like a below average team. This
is Mac Jones. His future is now. He needs to
be the starter from day one. So then we shifted
to a very quiet second. You disagree with that. You
don't think that after playing for Nick Saban and then
going to Belichick and they say, is um, football smarts
is through the roof. Why shouldn't he be out there

(49:39):
for Week one? You're not winning those Super Bowl that
you're anyway with Cam Newton. I don't think you can
ever tell Bill Belichick that He's not gonna win a
super Bowl. Come on, he's not winning it, and he
knows it. He I love this hot take, Harney, And
I know you're rolling, but you really think Bill Belichick
is sitting there going, yeah, we're not gonna go to
the playoffs and win the super Bowl. You really think
that's in his mind if he's honest to himself and

(50:01):
he sees what Vegas is the division for crying out loud?
Who care? Then why do they spend money on all
these free agents? Free agents? Right? I'm sure they did.
But the funny part of it is you're trying to
You're trying to think like Belichick when there's no way
on God's green Earth that Belichick is sitting there thinking

(50:22):
that this is gonna be a year that they're just
gonna be able to just get by. He had that,
you see, Is he really thinking to himself, yeah, we
got Cam Newton. There's no doubt he could lead us
to a super Bowl? Or is he? I mean, unless
he's thinking, well, my system, anybody could lead us to
a super Bowl. I'm not buying that. And he said
the same thing about Stidham instead not even got into

(50:42):
a game. That's ridiculous by the way, I did like
that he mentioned Jared Stidham and that that correct me.
All right. So regardless of fighting over that, you waited
till thirty two, the final pick in the second on
before the next quarterback win. And I gotta be honest
with you, I dug the fit. In fact, the next
three quarterbacks that we're gonna talk about, Arnie, I thought

(51:02):
they all landed in the first three rounds in great spots.
Kyle Trask in Tampa where you could learn and remember.
Kyle Trask is an incredible story. He was a backup
his entire high school career. He's a backup to do
Eric King. He was a backup when he went to Florida.
Didn't I call that right? Didn't I tell you, if
there's one thing I can guarantee you that Kyle trashk
will end up on Tampa. And I keep saying that

(51:24):
I don't know, ARENI. You guarantee so many things, But
I think I did guarantee that I was guaranteed that
the Knicks were gonna win thirteen straight. Wow, don't tell
me that's not still in play there. They're like ten
and one, eleven and one. They lost. So no, it's
not in play right now. But Kyle trash planning in Tampa.

(51:45):
I mean it's it's the perfect spot for him, right
if and we all at some point of answer Tom Brady, right,
I mean you don't. The staircase that you're building eventually
comes to an end. You taught me that one, Arnie.
So at some point it comes to an end. And
now you have a guy for the next two or
three years to learn under Tom Brady. Yeah, well, and
he gets it. I like Kyle Trashica, Well you said

(52:06):
two or three years, three years, and so what if
you're Kyle Trashic, what are you saying to yourself? Well,
I'm gonna be on a three year vacation right now.
I'm just gonna put my feet up and and do
a little studying, and it's like going to school over again.
But you don't get the play. I don't know if
I could be sitting there for three years being so
so patient. Though. You may get into a game if,
like it comes to a part where you're playing a

(52:27):
Thursday game after a Sunday game and some cream puff,
you may put him in there. Oh, did we just
lose Arnie? Just lose me. I think that's the big
question right now. But I will say this, the funny
thing about all of it is, I'm dying to see
what happens in the long run with one Davis Mills,

(52:48):
who I had a chance. I had a chance after
the draft on Friday Saturday night to talk to Friday night.
Excuse me, everything is Thursday, Friday, Saturday. I had a
chance to talk to the stand Fred had football coach
David Shaw, and I honestly think that it ended up
in a really good spot for Davis Mills. I think

(53:09):
I think all all told that Kyle Trask and Tampa
Davis Mills landing where he landed. I'm telling you right now,
this ended up being a perfect scenario for both of
those quarterbacks. You're you're right about David David Mills, But
I mean, how many surgeries as the guy had like three,

(53:29):
four of them A big question mark if he's gonna
be able to stay healthy. By the way, did I
just disappear, Bobo or did Arnie just disappear? What just
happened there? Because like out of nowhere, I was rolling
and then I stopped. I'm like, wait a minute. Everybody's
like gone. What just happened? Was that me? Or was
that Arnie? I gotta know. It's driving me crazy right now.
It was me? What happened? Do I need to see it?

(53:49):
Oh gosh, I need to throw my equipment across the room.
I didn't hear anything you just said, Arnie, not a
single word that you just said. I you might. You
were rolling and everything was going great, and I'm sitting
here going, wait, aren't you just disappeared? I need to
take things over? But no, no, no, no, I didn't
because I was rolling on Davis Mills. Because I talked
to David Shaw the other night and the Stanford head coach.
You know, you don't know what's gonna happen with DeShawn Watson.

(54:12):
You don't know what's gonna take place on that front.
But there's one thing that you do know. They got
a guy, and in his injury situation, You're right, aren't
He is something that you gotta keep an eye on.
But from the perspective of bringing in a guy that
knows the position and understands how to win, I mean,
he's shown that he can do that. So I think
that's a fascinating fit because he can make every throw.
We'll see how it plays. All right, It's get our

(54:32):
break in here. When we come back, Todd Ferman is
gonna join us from Vegas. I've gotten more on the
quarterback situation to get too, because I mean Sam Ellinger
to the Colts. So Sam Ellengor is now Colt And
there was a few other guys that went late that
got me scratching my head a bit. We'll get into
it next. Darti and Plank Radio on Fox Sports Radio.
More draft talk coming up here in just a bit.

(54:53):
Arti and Plank on Fox Sports Radio. Todd Ferman coming
up here in seconds. Brought to you in part I

(55:15):
Is he ready to roll? All right? Top firhim and

What's going on, Todd? How was your weekend? Weekend was good?
Gentlemen can't complain about a variety of things. Plank. I
know you're a NASCAR fan. I would have been much
happier if the five was able to put his car
in Victory Lane. But a last the trials and tribulations
of betting the races when the best laid plans don't

(55:35):
always come from tod. Who did you have at that
number three pick? Did you make any money or did
you stay away from that? I tell you when I win,
and I tell you what I lose. Arnie was not
a good prognostication from me. I really thought that Mac
Jones was going to be the guy to the forty niners.
He was the only player that I didn't peg in
the top seven. Everybody else kind of fell where I anticipated,

(55:56):
including your fins. Picking Jalen Waddle was a little bit
disappoint though Miami chose to go in a slightly different
direction with Jalen Phillips at eighteen. I thought Quidty Pay
would have been a much better cultural fit there than
some of the flash and dash. But all in all,
of the draft not a whole lot of major surprises.
Probably the biggest for me inside the top ten was j. C.
Horn going to Carolina, not that he was the first

(56:16):
defensive player taken, but I wasn't sure that was a
position of need that the Panthers were going to address
when they did. Todd, what do you think of the
overall show? And I don't just mean the TV side
of it, I mean the NFL. You know, you had
fans it was. It was a great visual, you know,
kind of with the way things played out. It was
a sense of normal when three sixty five days earlier

(56:37):
it's in Roger Goodell's basement. So what did you think
of the overall optics and the way that the NFL
put on that show? Well, this is my old man,
get off my lawn type moment here. I think sometimes
if theatrics are a little bit too much, just give
me the picks. I don't need to see the barko
lounger out there with fans reading the card from Roger
Goodell and everything else that goes into it. But it

(56:59):
is a show above all else is a chance for
the NFL to take center stage. I'd be perfectly content
if we went back to what we saw during the pandemic,
other than the players not getting to go through the
full experience. Get the picks ten minutes boom Let's get
the picks out. Let's get this show on the road.
If we thought, though there were a lot of bells
and whistles in Cleveland, I'm gonna be sorely disappointed when
we get all the glitz and glamor of Las Vegas

(57:19):
a year from now. I was ratings in in this one.
It must have been through the roof. Yeah numbers. I
think they showed a little more than twelve million people
watch the opening round of the draft, and it just
goes to show how the National Football League, when they
do anything, uh, it really raises eyebrows and gets people
fully involved and engaged. And from a sports betting standpoint,
the event has grown in popularity. And I think the NFL,

(57:41):
you know, they don't do a lot of things poorly,
and spreading the draft out over the course of three
days has really been a step in the right direction.
Where you make the first round of focal point, you
do rounds two and three on the subsequent Friday, and
then you bake the rest of the rounds into a
Saturday where only the true die hards are really watching,
hoping that their teams are able to make a few
good picks. And some of those household name who've grown
familiar with. From a college football standpoint, we can see

(58:02):
where they're going to take their talents. Todd, I'm curious.
We all knew that Chrevor Lawrence was going to go
number one, so that had probably already been asserted in
any futures for the Jaguars. But did anything that happened
from Thursday through Saturday change kind of future perspectives on
teams or now? Well, there is one player, and I
know I said when we talked about it jokingly last
week that there wasn't a player that could go in

(58:23):
the draft that was going to change the team's season,
outlook or futures. I have to correct myself when wrong.
And there was one team that went from sixty to
one to win the Super Bowl down to fifty two
one at FanDuel, and that would be the Chicago Bears,
who traded up to number eleven to get justin Field.
That may be as much precautionary as anything else, knowing
that the Bears are very public team. Sports books oftentimes

(58:44):
take liability um when a team like that was such
a big brand is offered up at long shot odds.
But clearly he's got a higher ceiling and what we'll
see out of Andy Dalton and Nick Foles. But we're
not quite sure Fields will be their Week one starter.
I can tell you when you look at the m
v P odds, he's kind of in that second tier
price at seven and one. Trevor Lawrence the early favorite,
but I figured the value seeker, Chris, that you work

(59:05):
alongside every Sunday night, that I have to apologize for
in advance. Arnie's probably dumped his first Brink trucks on
Kyle Pitts at eleven one. Yeah, like I kind of
like Nauseerra's for Pittsburgh and of the eighteen the one
or one or something like that, I think there's good value.
What about the Denver Broncos though, didn't they fluctuate on
on odds to win the Super Bowl because of that?

(59:26):
Aaron Rodgers? Yeah, they did there, but not because of
picking Patrick's certain at number nine. Now, why we saw
the Broncos odds go from six to one, as low
as twenty. But when speculation and the rumor mill started
to swirl, you did see Books get out there in
front of it and drop that number considerably. They're gonna
keep that Broncos number low for the foreseeable future, the
same way that they'll may inflate the Green Bay Packers

(59:48):
number a little bit. But don't be surprised if you
don't see win totals available on Green Bay until we
see a resolution of sorts with Aaron Rodgers. And I
think when you look at this Broncos roster from top
to bottom, they addressed the address the needs in their
defensive backfield. We know the pass rush will be a
little bit more formidable. And if they're able to get
a guy like Aaron Rodgers, I'm sure Broncos faithful across
the country believe that they can catch lightning in a

(01:00:10):
bottle not once, but twice, and that Rogers will have
the same impact on their franchise as Peyton Manning did
a few years ago. How challenging is that, Todd, whenever
you're set in numbers, because we just don't know, and
we don't know when there's going to be in an
end in sight to this for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers,
and you mentioned obviously Denver, but the Raiders have been rumored.
I mean, how do you handle that? Well? I think

(01:00:30):
books this is where they have to be a little
bit more precautious. They have to kind of keep those
numbers off the board. You're not going to assume green
Bay will go into battle without Rogers and make them
twenty five or thirty two one and drift out their odds.
But you're also not going to keep Denver's odds at
the same price as if Drew lock was going to
be their starting quarterback going into the season. I think
the real challenge, and what's gonna be pretty telling is

(01:00:51):
when we see the schedule release and I think a
week from Wednesday, how many primetime games the NFL is
going to give the green Bay Packers, Because if you're
at all concerned that Aaron Rodgers won't be that guy,
you're not gonna get the same Sunday night games or
America's Game of the Week on either CBS or Fox
Sunday afternoon. If Jordan's Love is ultimately going to be
the headliner, No, I think we're gonna see a lot
of Jacksonville games. By the way, I told Plank, Jacksonville

(01:01:13):
was over under six for win totals. I said, take
the over. I go. It's going to be disappointed if
they don't go nine and eight with a star quarterback
like that Dervian Meyer. Plank acted like I needed a
lobotomy or something with that type of pick there. Uh well,
we always act like you need a lobotomy, Arnie. That's
not just for you saying that the Jacksonville Jaguars we're
gonna go over their win total. But here's the thing
with Jacksonville, and we've seen college coaches make the transition

(01:01:35):
to the next level. It's a growing process for them,
not only for the players. But you have a rookie quarterback,
any rookie head coach. I'm not sure that is the
perfect combination to expect this team to be improved by
six wins after a fifteen game losing streak and nearly
a minus two point differential. Sure they went out there,
they got faster. You had the likes of Marvin Jones
and Philip Dorsetts, and you're receiving corps. You bolster the

(01:01:57):
defense a little bit. But at the same time, you
go through their schedule and their home slate doesn't really
offer any true layups. So other than maybe the Houston
Texans who are in disarray, we can throw out the
division games. But you're talking about Atlanta, Arizona, Buffalo, Denver, Miami,
and San Francisco coming into your own building. The only
game where Jacksonville maybe favorite his things stand right now
is at home against the Houston Texans. So asking him

(01:02:19):
to have market improvement in season one, we could be
going through a Peyton Manning type rookie campaign, not quite
one in fifteen, but maybe four and thirteen in that
ballpark before we start to see Jacksonville realize some of
their potential. Todd, what's the market been like as it
pertains to the Lakers or people starting to panic? What's
kind of your thought? Obviously losing again tonight, uh, maybe
finding themselves in that little playing area. What have you

(01:02:41):
seen as far as better as in the public when
it comes to the Lakers, You know, not quite panick yet,
but honestly, I hope Oddsmakers begin to panic because I
would love to be able to grab a flyer on
the Lakers at a price north of three and a
half or four to one, where the market currently sits.
But you do wonder for a team that's going to
play out the string and how they're ultimately going to
get Guys like Anthony Davis and Lebron James to be

(01:03:02):
fully fit for the postseason, because it's not as easy
as the Western Conference has been in the past. I
mean a road that could include going through the Phoenix Suns,
young team that's played, you know, essentially loose and free
all season long, maybe the Clippers, the Utah Jazz. The
Lakers will have their hands full, so let's see if
they can get healthy, and that of course includes getting
Dennis Shrewder back from virus protocol or whatever exactly we're

(01:03:25):
calling it at this day. And Agent, what the finals?
That would be Lakers in my Knicks? How great would
that be? Todd? Look, I could get the Knicks like
a hundred the one right now? Huh. It would be
the Julius Randall revenge game, Arenie, And I know everyone
across the NBA landscape would love to see that. But uh,
I don't think the Knicks are gonna quite get there now.
But a lot more optimism about where the Knicks are

(01:03:46):
as this season winds down than we were having this
discussion last year. And Tom Thibodeau deserves a heck of
a lot of credit for getting a young team to
commit on the defensive end. And you could only hope
that it becomes a slightly more attractive destination of lure
free agents when the season's over. You're the man. Keep
up the great work. Fs once Fox Bet Live all
week long. Check it out. We'll talk to you next
Sunday night. Always a pleasure, gents, So great week. I

(01:04:07):
never mentioned to Bet the Board podcast, which is fantastic.
Go follow Todd on Twitter at Todd Ferman on Twitter.
That's at why not on the TV show yet? I
know you ask every week. Maybe eventually one of the
producers might be up late listening say hey, there's my guy.
There's the guys are jealous because I'm really good looking.
I'm I'm I Candy, and I think that's what they're
worried about. I would not be surprised at all, exactly.

(01:04:30):
Cousin sal might say I can't have Arnie Spanier, He's
too much better looking Candy. That's what it is. Uh.
Steve de Seger comes rolling in to give us all
the latest, speaking about at the night. Actually, I think
that's that's why Arnie's not on the TV show. It's
because they have been up late listening. By the way,

(01:04:51):
when we get to the NBA playoffs, and there's only
two weeks left in the regular season. If the season
ended literally right now, it would be Lakers against the
Clippers in the first round of the US But what
Chris reference. The way the Lakers are going, and they're
losing tonight in the last minute, so this will be
six losses in their last seven. The direction they're going,
they could slip out of the top six in the

(01:05:11):
conference entirely, which would force them into the playing games
that first week before the first round even comes in
and play the Spurs of the Warriors and like a
best of three or they have to win one and
the other teams. Could you imagine if it was Lakers
against Golden State, for example, the way it goes, the
number nine or ten seeds would have to win both
games that week to advance to the first round of

(01:05:32):
the playoffs. If you're a seven or eight seed, you
only have to win once. In a couple of chants,
the NBA playoffs are gonna start May twenty second, they
could go as long as July twenty. Right now, under
thirty seconds to goo, Toronto is leading the Lakers in
l a one to one. Fourteen. Lebron James did play
twenty eight minutes, he had nineteen points and he has
left with a sore ankle and will not return. Lebron

(01:05:55):
James six assists, five turnovers in this game. Yes, Dennis
Shrewder was out tonight due to health protocol, so Alex
Caruso started seven points for him for Toronto, thirty eight
points for Pascal Siakam. Kyle Lowry with thirty seven points,
eleven assists and just one turnover. So Toronto a team
that's twenty six and thirty eight coming into play tonight,

(01:06:19):
they just destroyed the layers. It was early second half.
It was eight two sixty one for the visitors, so
Toronto not quite out of that number ten slot. By
the way, they'll be the alone in eleventh after tonight's play. Phoenix,
meanwhile in the West, is now tied for first place
with Utah Phoenix one again one three, one twenty at
Oklahoma City. Over in the East, the seventies sixers are

(01:06:40):
alone in first now. Brooklyn lost today one see fourteen
at Milwaukee is Jana's attendant Compo scored forty nine points.
Then Philadelphia won on a tip in at the buzzer
of overtime by Ben Simmons one thirteen one eleven at
San Antonio Portland was a winner. At Boston one nineteen.
Jayson Tatum had thirty three points and teammate Jalen Brown

(01:07:01):
of the Celtics limped off in the final minute. Tatum
says he'll be fine. Brown hasn't been fine. Didn't shoot
well last game and was six for twenty two from
the floor tonight. He had collided with Tatum going for
a steel late in the game and really did not
look good on an ankle that wasn't healthy to start
with coming into play tonight. A Laker update there down
seven with under thirty seconds to go. The Mets one again,

(01:07:22):
though they're up to the five hundred mark. Eleven and
eleven eight seven the final at Philadelphia, getting six runs
top of the eight game, and it was a sensational game,
and Reese Hoskins of the Phillies thought he had tied
it with a three run homer bottom of the nine
that was overturned just a double because the ball hit
the top of the fence and came back onto the field.
Then the Mets pulled the closer and Your's Familia got

(01:07:45):
the last out, striking out Bryce Harper to end the game.
So the Mets are at the five hundred mark, and
as Arnie referenced early in the show, the New York
Knicks are way above the five mark. Best team in
New York. I believe he said New York got to
play at Houston and they did win easily two to nine. Seven.
And one other thing on the Draft that Todd mentioned,
he was correct. It was twelve and a half million viewers.

(01:08:06):
That's if you add up the three channels that carried
the first round of the Draft on Thursday Night. But
still that's number two all time for the NFL Draft.
First round last year was the record at about fifteen
million viewers. We keep saying on this Sunday Night show
when we mentioned ratings that except for the NFL, pretty
much everything in television, the ratings are way down, including
for the other sports. I mean the Oscars was last

(01:08:28):
Sunday Night a year ago, the Oscars finally went under
twenty five million viewers. Last Sunday Night, it was ten
and a half million viewers. The Grammy Awards a year
ago was about nineteen million viewers. This year Grammy's nine
million viewers. NFL Draft first round twelve and a half million,
so that outdrew all but three non football telecasts going

(01:08:49):
back a year and a half. You know, the final four,
those two games with the the u C l Agen
Zagga incredible one and then the final those drew better
than the first round of the draft, but almost nothing
else in the last year and a half. The Dodger
clincher last October was twelve point seven million, so that
was a little more. But yet again, the NFL is
King and TV Sports And by the way, not not

(01:09:10):
to try to diminish how amazing the draft numbers were,
but that is every single network combined. So it's not like, yeah,
it's that, that's ABC NFL, but NFL network accounts for
less than two million of that just for the wreck exactly.
So just just for clarity, they're all three combined. Not
to try to defend the oscars or anything, because that's

(01:09:31):
not what I'm here for. Thanks Steve, Steve, we'll have

I get ripped together with the Jonahs knocks. How about
that you guys are too concerned with to be funny

honest opinion from you guys. I listened because your co

what what do mean do you do? He said that

to troll? I give you my honest opinion. I'm the
one that gets all these crazy predictions right. Nobody else
does and and nobody says the damn thing. What do
you mean I'm only year to troll? ARNI you change
your mind every other week. I do not stop it.
And then when you change your mind, you act like
that you have no idea what we're talking I have

(01:10:35):
no idea what you're talking about, exactly. Point mate, Uh, Paul,
this one rolled. I mean, we have a lot of
great tweets tonight, have this one just rolled in and
I wanted to get your take on it. Did you
guys happen to hear the Zach Wilson interview with what
was Craig Carton? Im I saying his name right? Um?
If he would have asked me that question in that way,
my answer, my answer would have been, I am going

(01:10:56):
to destroy you. And he had asked about his mom,
I pleast, I don't. I don't care about that kind
of stuff anymore. Everyone kind of always loses their mind
about oh do you see so and So's girlfriend? Or
you know, the last time I I can remember thinking
something like that was when I was in my twenties.
So those things don't even register with me right now?
Do I like watching? Uh? Do I understand that's a

(01:11:16):
hot woman? Yes? I understand it, I get it, But
I mean, I'm I guess I'm old man? Now? Aren't
I just care how Zack Wilson's gonna play. I don't
care about if his mom's hot, if his family's rich,
or if he looks uncomfortable. I just want to see
how he plays on that wrong to me? Well, you know,
it kind of ties into leon and he says, you guys,
just try to be funny or trollish. You know, Craig
Carton had on, um, obviously Zack Wilson because he's in

(01:11:39):
the New York media and the Jets take the number
two pick. Now, when you have a guy like that
on who just got drafted and you're obviously, um lucky
enough for you know that the throwing you'd say, here's
the new quarterback of the Jets. You don't do something
like that, even if you're trying to be funny or whatever. Um,
it wasn't funny. I think it was inappropriate. Um, you

(01:11:59):
want to have a little fun with the guy, that's fine.
You know, there was other questions you could ask him.
I guess his grandfather, Um what it owns jet flew
or something. Uncle. I don't know, but whatever you get.
I had a little fun with that. But you know,
you take it too far sometimes, and um, I thought
that's where where I went in this position with Craig. Yeah.

(01:12:19):
You know what was nice though in this draft this year, Arnie,
what was nice in this draft is that last year
I felt like everyone that got picked there was some
horrific story that had to be told about their back story. Right.
It's like and taking twentieth overall, here's Isaiah Wilson. Two
weeks ago his uncle contracted leukemia. It's like, what what
what are we talking about here this year? You know,

(01:12:39):
kind of outside of you know, outside of your your
boy Jalen Waddle leaving his family. I saw that. I'm like,
what the hey couldn't get out of there fast enough, which,
by the way, he had said that they had already
celebrated and he was just kind of sitting there waiting
for his moment to go up to the stage. But
I will. I just I kind of got the kick
out of we actually we're breaking down picks, we're giving

(01:13:02):
analysis right away. Everyone was like united that the Raiders
don't know how to draft and that everyone else does.
I mean, it was just it was great to kind
of see it where we were worried about finding the
worst possible story in someone's background on their biggest moment.
I thought it was great. I thought the coverage was great.
Across the board. It was mostly positive. When I said
I didn't want to hear the music, I mean, I'm

(01:13:23):
okay with a couple of songs. It went a little
too long. I'm on the East Coast. You went from
eight thirty eight pass from eight to eight thirty five.
Let's let's pick it up a little bit. I'm excited.
I was expecting a bunch of trades. The way everybody
was talking, I thought there was gonna be every after
the first two picks, everybody was gonna trade picks, and
we're gonna have like five trades in the first round.
I was. I was just absolutely pumped up for that,

(01:13:44):
you know, all right? And then one more quick one
here before we break from Ralphie Boy. And I didn't
I didn't realize how how far behind I was on
the tweets. But Ralphie Boy at underscore the Ralphie Boy
rights favorite under the radar pick in rounds two through seven. Well,
aren't even watch rounds four through seven. So was there
anyone in rounds two that caught your your irn that

(01:14:06):
you thought it was a good under the radar pick? Yeah?
I think the page the Patriots, like I'm gonna try
to remember real quickly, off the top of my head,
took a guy that was considered um a first round
than they let him fall to him in the second round.
I can't think of it off the top of my head.
Chris so Well That's that's the analysis that we're looking
for in you right now. Because the New England Patriots

(01:14:27):
they ended up getting Christian Barmore overall, and I think
that's what you're thinking about the Alabama defensive tackle right
This was a very weak defensive tackle class. As a
matter of fact, Marvin Wilson went undrafted, and had he
gone out, how do you declare for the draft? Last year?
Some thought he was gonna be a first round pick.
I I don't know how you can go from being
that good to being that bad in the span of

(01:14:48):
like eleven games. Christian Barmoa was the guy that nobody
was ever talking about last year and then he ends
up going in the top forty. So I think that's
a really good pick for the New England Patriots. Oh.
I mean, I I could give you like twenty of them,
but I'll just I'll try to call myself down here
a little bit and just say I really like what
New England did with Ronnie Perkins. Think what they did
with Dante high Tower. I think that's gonna be a

(01:15:09):
great fit for them. I love the Quinn Mayriness pick.
I believe I'm saying his name right. The Broncos getting
that offensive guard who like trains by carrying logs, which
is always a great story. But he's a stud. And
I'll tell you what, I'm not a big Kellen Mond guy.
I don't think. I don't think Kellen Mond is all
that great of a quarterback. But I think he landed

(01:15:29):
in a really good spot. And I'm not just saying
that because the bosses of Vikings face you do that
all the time. But Minnesota has two years left on
Kirk Cousins contract this year. Next year, you get a
guy like Mond who you can coach up a bit
and then maybe by the time that you're done with
Cousins any and you're not gonna re up him. Boom,
you got your quarterback right there that you took in
the top one hundred. Took him with the sixties six

(01:15:51):
to pick overall, I was gonna go who gets out
of the field first from round two? Um taken after
round two A quarterbacks, But I think that's kind of
an easy one, probably of a S. Mills because we
don't know that. Yeah yeah, And by the way, Joseph's
side of the Bengals is a really good pick. Because
I'm just scrolling through here on the third round. Uh,
and I like, what the what the Washington football team
did all across the board? So Ralphie boy, I could

(01:16:13):
do this all night long. What a question you, Arnie
would quit on me fall asleep. So I've got to
keep rolling here as we as we get the latest
draft nuggets for you NonStop here on Fox Sports Radio.
All right, the sager's speaking of nuggets has to tons
of him to get to next with Arn't in plank

comes strolling in to help us wrap a hour too.

(01:16:54):
What's going on, Steve? The Lakers are bad and we
can update the standings. They've lost. My Knicks lost six
of seven. You're right, thirty six and twenty eight. Also
more notably for Dallas in Portland, and it's a three
way tie people in the Western Conference standings for the
number five seed. The bad news is the Lakers might
miss out on the tiebreaker against each of those teams,

(01:17:15):
and therefore that's right head to head that's coming up.
Remember a week and a half ago, the Lakers, who
had beaten Dallas on Christmas, had to play at Dallas
back to back games. They lost both of those, So
the Lakers finished the season losing two of three to Dallas,
so that tiebreakers already taken care of. They've split the
two with Portland's so far, and as you mentioned, they're

(01:17:37):
playing Portland's head to head coming up this Friday night.
In fact, of those three teams that are tied for
fifth in the West, Blazers, MAVs, Lakers, we only have
two weeks left in the regular season, eight games left
for each of them on the schedule. But for the Lakers,
the next five games is probably going to determine their
fate because they have to play Denver and the Clippers
this week before they ever go to Portland on Friday night,

(01:17:59):
and then after that the Lakers are playing Phoenix and
the Knicks. If the Lakers, I mean, they've already lost
six of seven as I say, the Lakers record since
mid February fifteen and twenty two, so they are limping
their way to the finish line. And speaking of limping,
with about seven minutes to go tonight, Lebron James checked

(01:18:19):
out and went to the locker room with a sore ankle. Yes,
you remember, he had missed so much time with the
bad ankle. So that's where things stand. Not over, but
not good for the Lakers as we head towards postseason. Meanwhile,
not good for we assume still at Olympics this summer.
You know, the NBA season is going to be ending
as late as July two, which is right about the

(01:18:41):
time the Tokyo Olympics are due to begin. Obvious question
out loud, if somebody, an NBA star makes a long
run in the playoffs, are they just going to skip
the Olympics for their country even for the US? You
would think so, obviously, of course, And so that's the consideration.
More to the point, it is in parts of Japan

(01:19:02):
they're not going well as far as the virus pandemic.
In fact, the Olympic organizers in Tokyo just asked for
five hundred more nurses to help them out at the
games and the nurses are incensed, like, are you kidding?
We're dealing with actual general public stuff and work at
our fingers to the bone. One said, I was stunned

(01:19:23):
at the insensitivity. But they're due to open these games
in just under three months. Remember, nobody's allowed into Japan
from another country anyway, no fans from outside the international borders.
They're been sealed for close to a year, and then
once the participants, like the athletes, get in, they're just
gonna be in a bubble there. But I've read, according

(01:19:43):
to a p that vaccination rates for the virus in
Japan or at two or less. One nurse said, it's
hard for any hospital go without even one nurse. They
want five hundred. How do they think that's even possible.
British medical journalists said Japan to just reconsider holding the Olympics.
The Tokyo Medical Association said, this is going to be
extremely difficult to hold the Olympics. We've got new variants

(01:20:06):
spreading now on the virus, so this is not an
absolute guarantee that we're going to have the Olympics. What
we do know is what they've said before. It was
already postponed from last summer. If they can't get it
done this summer, there just won't be a Summer Olympics,
and that that's gonna be a hole in the schedule.
And we'll go to the Winter Olympics next year, which
I think is in China. Anyway, next year we'll we'll

(01:20:27):
go on track for that does exactly Can you imagine
the amount of money they have tied up well, and
they have a new streaming service and they were gonna
have live events on that Stark. One other serious note
about the virus, which we have said often on this
show the past year, take it seriously. One good thing is,

(01:20:50):
especially here in California, I can speak, things are very
much going in the right direction. But a guy like
Evan Fournier, who has been a good score in the
NBA now with the Celtics to start a pro For example,
he hit ten three pointers in a row over a
two game span, but then he got COVID and he
missed about three weeks. And even though he's been back
for a few games, even as his coach put it,
Evan is still a little foggy. And after tonight's game,

(01:21:13):
Fournier said, I've been feeling really weird. To be honest,
feels like I have a concussion. It's been improving lately,
but it's caused me issues with depth perception. One doctor
tonight commented that post COVID brain fog is a very
very real thing, and we'll probably in the general sense
of things, see more of it because of course this
virus on the grand scale is still kind of a

(01:21:33):
new thing. But another reason for everyone to just say
to everyone, take it seriously. It's still out there. It's
not like everybody's been vaccinated. But yeah, it's nice to
see things going absolutely. This is a kid who's like ridiculous. Well,
I had to use an inhaler at twenty years old,

(01:21:54):
but it was a completely different situation. I was allergic
to everything, so like tonight, Like tonight, I'm like Millhouse
from the Simpsons, And in fact, I can't wait to
get to break so I can hit this inhaler again. Hey,
when we come back. Twitter has been great tonight, I
haven't done a good job with it. We'll kick off
our three with Twitter, little buyer sell. I've got tons
of audio from the draft and obviously from the Lakers

(01:22:16):
locker room. The Dodgers post game coming up, and why
did't I just mention all the l A teams, Matt's
and Phillies reaction to just for Arnie span your little
New York Knicks a Slidon as well, and what you
all came for tonight Arnie's picks or to wrap up
the show, it's all on tap for a busy third
hour with Arnie and Plank kicking off the week right
on Fox Sports Radio. Wow, final hour already, let's go.

(01:22:40):
It's Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio, brought to
you in part our draft coverage, that is, and we've
been talking a lot of draft tonight because it's still
the biggest historian sports. Draft coverage on Fox Sports Radio
is always brought to you by net Sweet. You're still

That's a special financing at net sweet dot com. Slash
a draft NetSuite dot com slash Draft. You know, Arnie,
earlier in the show, my equipment had a little malfunction
to where I couldn't hear you. Uh. Some would say
that I enjoyed that. I don't. It was very concerning

(01:23:21):
from I did not lie not being able to hear you.
And so Bobo are who's a technical director? Um life coach?
My guy? What how are you want to describe? He
during the top of the hour, there's always a pause,
like when when we hit the top of the hour,
it is like ten seconds of silence. And I kind
of wasn't paying attention. Not you would send me a
note on the Kentucky Derby ratings and I'm digging for it,
and then all of a sudden, I go, oh, no, Bobo, Bobo,

(01:23:43):
that it happened again. I can't hear anything. It happened, Bobo,
I can't hear anything. And he starts laughing and he goes,
we're at the top of the hour, you dope. So
I think my brain fog is kicked into another level here, Arnie, tonight,
I might who was it, who was it that we
said last hour was still a little foggy. Evan Fortier,
I think this is happening to live on the air tonight, Artie.
I think this is what's happening. You might have to

(01:24:05):
go to the pin and bring it a left. So
a couple of people torres and yeah, go go wake up.
I was speaking of tortoise. Nature boy keeps saying that
last night got out of control. What happened? Um, every
every time we talk any topic, he gets out of
control with him and I. But but I think it
was because I didn't like the concert at the beginning. Um,

(01:24:25):
and he was, you know, giving me grief over that. Yeah,
be an old man and blah blah blah and that
type of thing. Okay, I didn't know if there was
a good old knockdown, drag out fight, like you're trying
to say that the Jaguars are gonna win nine games
and everyone's having to jump all over you or what.
But no, I actually like, well, we were talking about
the quarterbacks, so I actually liked four the quarterbacks doing
pretty well. Um, if if Trey Lance gets some playing time.

(01:24:48):
I'm just concerned about Zack Wilson. All of a sudden,
I'm I'm I'm might get not anti Zach Wilson, but um,
I'm just really really thinking it's not gonna be a
good a good year for him. I am too, I'm
very worried about that. For New York Jet fans, I'm
very worried about the sanity of Jason Smith and all
of the New York Jet fans because if you had
they they've got who who they have? There is his backup?

(01:25:09):
Even now because Flat goes off to the Eagles. It's
it's him. I mean, he's the guy. So you're looking
at a situation where, at the very least in San Francisco,
it's a very expensive backup are starter, but you can't
sit Trey Lance. And I know Arnie. In today's NFL,
the whole idea is you draft a quarterback in the
first round because that way you can spend more on
other parts of your team. But maybe the Niners look

(01:25:31):
at this and say, let's give it one more run
with Jimmy and maybe by mid season or something, it's
Trey Lance time. But only Jimmy Garoppolo or he's gonna
get hurt, right, So you're looking at maybe four games
in anyway, Trey Lance is gonna be your quarterback. So
everybody keeps saying you have to have an elite quarterback
to go to the Super Bowl. Elite quarterback. But then
you take a look at some of the quarterbacks that
have gotten their teams want to get rid of their

(01:25:52):
quarterbacks like Jimmy Garoppolo was up twenty to ten in
the fourth quarter, Um and and be like, I get
rid of him, he is no good. They want to
get her to the Rams quarterback what's his name? God?
Of course? Yeah, um, you know you could falls was
moved out three went through a Super Bowl. Who says
you have to need an a week quarterback to go
to the Super Bowl. Now there's been one constant on

(01:26:12):
the other side of that for the most part, and
it's either Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes. So you know,
I don't know. I used to think, and I want
to get to this Kentucky Derby note and all the
tree is coming up in just a bit. I used
to think it was a one size fit all. I
really to get your get your great quarterback, get him
a couple of playmakers. If not two, then one have
a good run. Get your Joe Montana, have you Roger Craig,

(01:26:35):
got your Jerry Rice. You're good to go. Get a
couple to But you're good with that. But now I'm
starting to wonder, Arnie, those guys are like Unicorns, right,
the Patrick Mahomes and the Aaron Rodgers. You need to
build an offensive line because more often than not, you're
not getting that different difference making playmaker at quarterback unless
you know it is in my homes. It's there are

(01:26:55):
more of the anomaly than the than the ring than
the constant is my on and you gotta build around.
So you gotta have a good defensive. The Buccaneers aren't
winning the super Bowl without that defense. And I know
we can all sit here and talk about Tom Brady.
Tom Brady right, and he deserves all the love in
the world. Right without Devin Why and Jason Pierre Paul
and I mean, they're not winning the super Bow. They're
also not winning the Super Bowl without tom Brady's leadership.

(01:27:18):
But another one of our arguments was did Cincinnati do
the right thing? I said, yes, I love getting them
to get in Jamaar Chase oh and and the Tours.
It is like, well, he's gonna end up on his backside.
They don't have an offensive line. They should have taken
sol And you know how I feel about that. Give
me the flash, give me the running back, the wide receiver,
the quarterback. Before I worry about the big guys up front.

(01:27:39):
I and I just think completely opposite of you on
that front. I think you gotta get your offensive line
to protect your guy. You know, people go, look what
happened to Kansas City? Was there too offensive line? I go,
they still made it to the Super Bowl ball right,
they still made it all the way there, even with
a couple of offensive linemen gone. I mean, look, like
I said, you're just gonna have to go ahead and
work around it. I mean, look at Russell Wilson cry

(01:28:00):
about the offensive lineing what dwelven for this year. So
I don't want to hear any crying. Well, you're You're
probably not gonna hear any crying from Patrick Mahomes anymore,
because my gosh, they went out and boy did they
invest in that, and they already have playmakers here. But
I get your point. I mean, listen, I'm all into
getting the flashy playmakers, right. Jamar Chase is gonna be great,
and since I think that Jalen Waddle is gonna have

(01:28:24):
be a great fit in Miami, I digg the Davante
Smith fit in Philadelphia. Though Philadelphia is enamored with these
smallish wide receivers like he and Reagor. But I think
he's gonna be great. But I still think that when
you have a chance to take a foundational piece like
Pina Seul, I think you gotta do it right. But
that's just me. I could be d f I could
be dead wrong on it, but I really want to

(01:28:45):
protect Joe Burrow. And maybe the Bengals looked at it
kind of like the the Raiders. You know, the Raiders
are drafted secondary, secondary, secondary, and none of them really
panned out in the first round, at least not yet,
and so ARNI maybe Cincinnati looked at and said, point,
we haven't had a lot of luck with these offensive
line we've drafted in the first round. In fact, they're
not even given with Billy Price is fifth year option.
So maybe they said, let's go get a receiver, let's

(01:29:07):
listen to our quarterback. I thought that happened a lot
this week. I thought teams listened to their quarterback, with
the Bengals going out and and and getting a wide receiver.
In a roundabout way, the Dolphins kind of listened to
Ah because he had been banging the drum for Jalen
Waddle allegedly and Jalen Hurts and made some noise for
DeVante Smith. Now listen, I'm not saying that they the
Eagles and the Dolphins drafted those two receivers because of

(01:29:29):
their quarterbacks, but I sure as I'll think the Bengals
listen to Joe Burrow quite a bit. Go three? Did do?
Just think about? I was about to ask you which
combination has the best year? Is it is? It? Is
it gonna be to uh you know and waddle? Is it?
Is it gonna be Jalen Harrison Davante Smith? Who, by
the way, don't underestimate that combination either. You know which
one is at? Uh? Davante Smith? Okay, who's gonna throw

(01:29:53):
the ball to him? Really? Okay? Um, I was not
gonna throw the ball to him. I love Jalen Hurts,
I really do. But have you really taken some time
to look at his numbers? We've argued about him before
coming into the well, you're gonna change your mind on
it after his first game. So I'm just telling you
right now, Jalen Hurts is a really good quarterback. And

(01:30:13):
I had a chance to cover him firsthand, and I
like him a lot. But it's not like he set
the world on fire last year. You know, the one
game he won was against the Saints, and Saints just
we're awful that game without Breeze. And I don't even
think he completed six of his passes that year. Last year,
which is kind of the the NFL norm. I think
he was around fifty two or fifty three. Love him.

(01:30:34):
I don't know if that's the future in Philadelphia right now,
but we'll see. I hope he does great. But if
you're asking me of that group, Arney, I'm taking Joe
Burrow and Jamar Chase and I and I also think
that Joe Mixon is gonna have a heck of a
year two running the football. They they they've got a
chance to be a really good offense if they can
protect Joe Burrow. Now, you sit this to me during

(01:30:55):
the break about the Kentucky Derby, and we'll get your
tweets ahead. Uh, why do you sit. I'm just kidd
I'll just go ahead. I'm just kidding. Everything you send me,
I read it and you're like, quietn't want you to
read that, Like okay, But it's in line with our
conversation about the draft, right where we said the numbers
for the NFL Draft in the first round. To Sager

(01:31:16):
had him, it was the second highest rated draft ever
behind last year's. Granted, it combines all three networks, but
we'll take it. Preliminary figures indicate that NBC's broadcast of
yesterday's Kentucky Derby will average nearly fifteen million viewers, topping
all Awards shows for the first time ever and making

(01:31:37):
it NBC's most watched show since the NFL Divisional playoff
in January. I don't know, I don't know. I have
no idea the run and we didn't know about that
or what. I have no idea, Arnie. In fact, I
was sitting here before the show started and I had

(01:31:57):
to remind myself who won the damn thing. I didn't
think that there were people looking for Aaron Rodgers. Is
that what it was? Where they trying to find out
what's going on with turd Ferguson. Because I had no
idea at all that they had numbers like that was there.
I mean, I saw some of the prep boys that
had their their horse and storyline with Badford. I mean,
I just I don't get why the numbers were. I
don't think this has anything to do with it, but

(01:32:20):
it did seem when somebody brought this up. I think
Torres brought this up yesterday. The start time went from
like about six fifty eight a little a half hour later.
I don't think that had the massive ratings, uh, you know,
increased because of that, But that was one of the reasons.
I'm guessing. I just I don't know what it was.
But as I'm sitting here going through this and and

(01:32:40):
you sent that to me, I thought, why insane, isn't
it Why? I just I love it. Don't get me wrong,
I'm not going to complain about sports, but usually I'm
kind of in tune. I feel like I got a
pretty good beat on what people are gonna watch, but
not last night or yesterday afternoon. That's yeah. It is
seven o'clock Eastern. By the way, four o'clock Saturday, UM

(01:33:00):
on the West coast to the Hell State at home
watch of the Kentucky Derby. I mean, who's watching anything
on a Saturday night at the Kentucky Derby. I'm I'm shocked.
And when I saw those numbers, I wonder though the
wording of it, is there some sort of caveat in there?
I conclude streaming numbers and people that happen to turn
by the channel. They combined number from whenever the broadcast

(01:33:24):
started into like midnight or something. Because when I saw that,
I mean I was, I was blown away. Did a
pretty good job as they sucked me into it that
I had to suck you into it, and you didn't
want me to read it. So let me read some tweets. Uh,
Matt hits us up on Twitter. That's at stink Genius one.
I'm at Plank Show and everybody should be tweeting at
us and following us at Fox Sports Radio. Matt writes,

(01:33:44):
I need your honest opinions of the Cowboys DRAP. I
don't know how to feel. I like how they went
heavy on defense, but I'm just not sure how good
these guys will be. Parsons is a stud otherwise, not sure.
Hit me with it. I can take it, or you
can go first. What do you think of the Cowboys drap? I? Well,
first of all, yes, I do love Parsons. I thought
that was great with his family group cowboy fans. Is
that what it was? Um? So, you know, good for him.

(01:34:07):
That's going to work out. It's going to be a
solid pick um. They also took the kid with the
corner from Kentucky Kelvin Joseph. Is that who there second
pick was? But I can't tell you a whole heck
of a lot if that's going to help them out.
But I think they needed help in that situation. And
also they didn't take anything you know that was just
going to go ahead and you know, like any of
the wide receivers. I like, they got the one from Stanford,

(01:34:27):
but that was like in the fifth round. Other than that,
I thought it was okay. It was like a B.
I thought there was about five or six or seven
other teams that had great drafts. I thought I gave
the Cowboys about a B. I thought they did a
great job in getting Parsons. I like Kelvin Joseph. I
don't know what they were doing with uh with with Osah. Yeah,

(01:34:47):
just Sacre could probably correct me on the pronunciation. Chauncey
Goldston out of Iowa and Nashan right, the kid out
of Oregon State wasn't even on a lot of people's
draft boards, including I was doing some draft coverage on
on day night and I'm literally having to dig. I'm
like this, who is this guy, but already I think
they may have got one of the steels of the draft.
And uh, when they drafted Jabril Cox and he was

(01:35:09):
still around on the third uh late in the third
round or on the third day whenever, it was oh
blown away because I thought that kid was an absolute stud.
Maybe there's some concerns about what position he's gonna play
at the next level, but the fact that they were
able to get him hift overall in the fourth round,
I thought that was a heck of a pick. So
I don't really know what they were thinking in the

(01:35:29):
in the third round, but I loved what they ended
up getting in the fourth round, uh in in bringing
in the kid out of LSU Drill Cox. So I
don't know, Matt, if that makes you feel any better
about it. But they they they they found a need
or they had a need on defense. They wanted to
go out and get some playmakers and boom, they went
and got it. Uh. This is interesting, Alan Rights. Why

(01:35:50):
in the hell would San Francisco move up to get
Zack Wilson and not just In Fields If that was
the case, What has Zack Wilson proven that Justin Fields
has not? People are as happy for Fields in Chicago
as we were for Lamar Jackson in Baltimore. Hashtag haters lose.
I mean, they had a chance to draft Justin Fields

(01:36:11):
and they didn't. So in my mind, if they moved
up for Justin Fields, aren't why didn't they draft him? They?
I thought they you know about San Francisco, right, I
thought that that's exactly what they were going to do
when they when they moved up, I figured it was
for anybody other than Trey Lands. So, um, I didn't

(01:36:33):
think it was gonna work out. And then I'm thinking, well,
you hear the rumors. I think they went ahead and
took trade Lands because they were outvoted the four. The
one thing we talked about earlier. This kid, by the way,
he's gonna be a good quarterback. I just don't think
he's gonna be as good um as Justin Fields. I
love Justin Fields, um. I love everything about him. His
athletic ability, he's got a great arm, and he's a

(01:36:55):
great decision maker. You know, when you play for a
blue blood program might go Aisles stay uh, and you
don't get a lot of great Oiles State quarterbacks anyway.
There's not too many that have made in the NFL.
But I think this guy is finally gonna break that mold.
I like him a lot. I do too, But if
if you're trying to make it some sort of issue
about race, it's it's not. The theory was that the

(01:37:18):
forty Niners moved up to three and I thought, hey,
I think they're going up there to try to get
Zach Wilson, And when he wasn't there, they really dug
into their work. They had a chance to take Justin
Fields and they didn't. So if they moved up to
get Justin Fields they didn't take him, what the hell
are they doing? I think Justin Fields by it would
have been great in San Francisco. By the way, I
don't know what it was. I guess they said that

(01:37:39):
Trey Lance, all of the test they had give him
for his cognitive skills were all the charts, so they
wanted to And I don't know what was the four
to one thing you keep bringing up, because I thought
the I thought the Niners were like one guy makes
a decision in his skyle channing. Yeah, well, I thought
it was like one of him wasn't happy about it
because he got out voted. Um, you know by the
way um who was making a big stink saying that
it was like all the white quarterbacks were going up

(01:38:01):
the board as I thought mac Jones was gonna be
taken number three. Yeah, well, I guess that goes your
theory out the window and went out pretty quick and
number three. But I got tight. I love I love
where Justin Fields landed. I've got nothing against the kid.
I think he's great. The end of take, there's nothing
more to be said. I think the Jets are gonna

(01:38:21):
live to regret the fact that they took Zach Wilson
over and the one more quick one from Erica writes
draft grades remind me of when recruiting newsletters said Tom
Osborne was terrible at recruiting, but he would go to
the Orange Bowl every single year. Yeah, I love it,
I absolutely love it. Every year you'll have these, uh,
these grades on what's the Seahawks whenever Russell Wilson and

(01:38:44):
Bruce Serving were drafted. There like, oh, this is a
terrible draft. It's a d Every time there's a bad
draft grade for a team who's draft ends up being stellar. Hey,
and like last year, think about everyone was gushing about
the Titans draft last year. Historically it might have been
the worst draft ever. Their first round pick isn't even
on the team anymore. So I don't get too caught

(01:39:04):
up in it, but you know me, I consume it
and I love it. Speaking of that, we'll do a
little draft grading next with some buyers. Sell it's Aarny
in Plank on Fox Sports Radio. It's already in Plank
on Fox Sports Radio. R I, P d J, Easy Rock,
Rodney Skip Bryce. I used to love this song. What
I mean you used to? I do now, Arnie, this

(01:39:25):
is your jam right? Oh? Absolutely is my jam. I
was just thinking about that Arnian playing. Brought to you

(01:39:51):
that Matt takes us the task? I said, you seriously
don't know why they Kentucky Uh Derby TV numbers were
up yesterday. I've got two words for you. Lead realized gambling.
I can now jump on place event and watch the
most procedual horse race ever, have a stake of the result,
and then go wash my car um. Yeah, but we've
got legalized gambling, though it's certainly more prevalent now. I

(01:40:14):
could always go back on a horse race. I mean,
I O. T B s are everywhere, aren't that. I
don't think that has anything to do with it. Our
man Tyler sent a note that pointed out that in
two thousand and nineteen now, and I know two thousand
nineteen had the controversy where they had the horse that
I was sixty to one ended up winning it because
it was overturned or there was a jockey complaint, But

(01:40:36):
the Derby and two thousand and nineteen actually at sixteen
point three million viewers. So again maybe being back on
its original date, maybe it's one of those events to
where it's like I've slept since then. I forget how
big of a deal it was. But yeah, I don't
think legalized gambling has I mean, it's it's pretty much
been legal about on horses forever. I don't think it's

(01:40:57):
anything now. There might be some places that's just introduced it,
but for the most part, maybe it's me being greedy
I've always lived in a state where you could bet
on the Kentucky Derby. So huge numbers, so it's exciting.
So you're ready to play a little buy your sell,
Let's do it, Let's do it. I know you might
get a tweet something shiny to lose your attention, but
here we go. I'm going non draft in our first

(01:41:18):
segment of Buy our Sell because I feel like we
spend a lot of time projecting where we think teams
are gonna end up talking about who won who lost
this stupid grading process that we have. So here we
go buy or sell Artie. Laker fans should be panicking
right now. Oh yes, they should be paddicking. I was
gonna go and make this one of my predictions, but
I'll tell you right now, they're not going to finish
it in the top six. They're gonna have to be

(01:41:38):
in that playing game. They look bad. I think Anthony
David said it's about as long as they can get.
Oh no, it could get a lot lower. I mean,
you've lost seven of your last head and three in
a row, and now Lebron's got the bum Machaels still. Um,
we'll see how that's going to work out. Oh, it's
not looking good for the Lakers. I promise you that.
So that in that by yourself. Go ahead, Arnie um Um.

(01:42:02):
I am panniking as a Laker fan. I am really really,
really really worried right now because they're playing like crap.
But my question for you is, remember the bubble last season?
How many games that the Lakers winning the Bubble before
at all they won the whole thing? No, before the
playoffs actually started. How many games that I don't know
how many exactly the bubble? None? We didn't like, We're

(01:42:26):
not we because I'm not in the Lakers uniform. Yeah,
we were got awful, and then when the playoffs started
we woke up. Now, I think our biggest problem right now,
just speaking on behalf of the Laker fans everywhere, is
we have not played together because we have missed Anthony Davis.
You have missed one of the greatest players in the
history of basketball, Lebron James. And then now you have

(01:42:47):
them coming back with the team that they only played
a couple of games with, and they came back with
a new center with Drummond. So Lakers just have to
put their foot in the ground and realize, hey, we
are the Lakers and everybody. He's not going to bow
down to us, and we have to play to win
because they are probably not conferences. Well, there's a lot

(01:43:08):
of great teams in the West, all the Sun, There's
there's a ton of great teams in the West, and
all these teams were what built to stop the Lakers.
And we've beaten most of these teams and most of
these players. So yes, as a Lakers fan, I am
a hundred percent worried right now. But in the back
of my mind, I got to realize that this is
Anthony Davis and Lebron James and we have the carew show. Yes,

(01:43:29):
I am calling him out as one of the good players.
I'm on the team, but I'm worried. But I think
we're gonna wake up in enough time to not give
me a heart attack. Eight games left, so there's there's
time to fix things if you will. And you just
I don't know if it matters if you want to
end up in that little playing thing or not, but
I think it does. It's an extra extra game. And

(01:43:51):
me and the Saga was talking about partilier um with
me and was talking about this is it seems like
almost as if they're trying to set up a Lake
versus Clippers playoffs series, because there's no other way that
you're ever going to get this, and this is probably
the best time for it to happen now. I don't
know if the Lakers are just purposely losing, are they're

(01:44:12):
just not playing hard or what, but I mean, it
does seem like it's leaning towards a Lakers Clippers first round.
Willing to bet that the Knicks have more playoff victories
this year than the Lakers will, not saying a damn
person in here was talking about the damn Nicks. I
just tell the guys wanted to throw that in there.
Do you know the verm coudamounts are going to be
really good too? I want that bat let's go right now,

(01:44:35):
or you want yes, I'll take the Lakers over the
Knicks as far as playoff wins, right because that's because
the Lakers could lose in the first round at the
end of the player that you know what Lakers as
a confident as I am, Steve, Steve Chris, I don't
know about that one right now, because it's right. You
don't want a piece, Arnie, I will bet you just

(01:44:56):
simply because you're Arnie, and I know you won't come
through on your end of the beat, because we all
know that you never come through any If they play
the Hawks or the Heat, they're going to eliminate the
Knicks in the first round. If if the Knicks play
the Hawks for the Heat in the first round, it's over.
Because that's the way it's going right now, right, yeah,

(01:45:16):
they're close to it. Trey Young will dominate the Knicks them.
I'll take that bat. Let's go. Um. All right, we
get on NBA or you guys want to add something
else on it? Are we good? Want to add? Alright?
One more quick thing to get to here and buy
yourself before the saga takes over and wraps up the
full day in sports, Arnie uh? Baseball wise, Arnie um

(01:45:39):
buy or sell. It's been a very entertaining season for
Major League Baseball. Things are continuing to stay compelling. Is
it number one of the news cycle? No? But baseball
storylines are good. By yourself buying that. You know, usually
I just kind of po pooh that and say, no
big deal. There are some good ones there. Dodgers now,

(01:46:01):
people like what's wrong with the Dodgers? They got off
to a show, a slow start, a good start, then
they've slowed down recently. It's losing seven of their last ten. UM.
They people love seeing the Dodgers, Padres. What happened in
the n at least where all the team stink. The
Red Sox still lead the Al East. The A's got
off to a one in seven start. They just exploded. Um,

(01:46:21):
you know there's there is some really good storylines. Was
if the Brewers can hold on UM A long long
way obviously to go, but there's been some good ones
for the first thirty games. Yeah, I've done in man
for the Dodgers, Padres to watching the Yankees struggle a
little bit too. Having Kansas City suddenly playing good baseball
Detroit's been compelling. I think it's been a fun start
to Major League baseball season. All right, I'm I'm buying

(01:46:44):
what I've asked you if you're buying two. So when
we come back, we'll get into a little bit of
the football side of things. We haven't talked a lot
of Aaron Rodgers by interstell if he's gonna be Packer
next year. That's the that's the easiest layup of the question.
I've had in this segment we've done and probably the
ten years we've done this show together. But for one
final time tonight, Steve de Siger comes rolling in with
everything that's happened in the world of sports. What's up, Steve?

(01:47:05):
Quote from Anthony Davis after the Lakers lost tonight, this
is the lowest we've been. The only way is up.
They get lower, they get lower. You know, last night
was the lowest the Dodgers had been in the young season.
They not only just gagged lead after lead, four different
leads and lost it extra innings, but they lost another
picture to the injured list. And then they scored sixteen today.

(01:47:26):
So not over. And by the way, your Derby conversation
before the derby, the Athletics said, the viewership of the
Kentucky Derby since two thousand and eight has been at
least fourteen million viewers every year except last year when
they had to move it to September and it wasn't
first Saturday in May. That was under ten million last year.
But the Derby does draw. If you look at the
non football lists year after year, the Derby is on

(01:47:48):
the list. We had quite a ballgame tonight at Philadelphia.
The Mets one eight seven, scoring six runs. At the
top of the eighth, Pete Alonso a three run double.
By the way, the Mets Francisco Lindoor was over five,
the batting averages down to one S one, but it
looked like the Phillies had tied the game with a
three run homer bottom of the night from Reese Hoskins.

(01:48:10):
On replay, it was overturned to just a double and
instead of eight eight, it was an eight seven Mets
lead still because the ball hit the top of the
fence and came back on the field, and that's pulled
their closer who wasn't closing, and they brought in Euras
Familiar to strike out Bryce Harper and end the game.
And guys, just today, Philadelphia reliever Jose Alvarado was suspended
three games for starting a benches clearing incident against the

(01:48:33):
Mets on Friday, but he appealed and came in the
game in the top of the eighth and walked in
to go ahead run. So it's a great night all
around for Mets fans. Oakland, with a two run homer
bottom of the eighth, beat Baltimore seven to five. A's
lefty pitcher Hazew's Lazardo was placed on the injured list.
He broke a finger yesterday while playing a video game
before his start. He bumped his hand on a table accidentally.

(01:48:55):
According to his manage unbe Seattle shut out the Angels
to nothing. Show Hey Otani hit by a pitch on
his right elbow as a batter. He did stay in
the game. He is scheduled to be the starting pitcher tomorrow,
so we'll see how that goes. I mentioned the Lakers
loss and Lebron James came out with a sore ankle
in the fourth quarter. Lakers are due to play tomorrow,
hosting Denver, so we'll see how that goes. Dodgers win

(01:49:17):
was sixteen to four at Milwaukee Dustin May with an
m R I tomorrow on the arm, which was injured
in his start last night. He left early. He went
on the I L today. The Dodgers have eight pitchers
on the injured list, plus Cody Bellinger. Julio Rius is
four and oh. Though he hasn't lost in over a year,
he got to win today and A. J. Pollock had
two home runs and almost a third. It was an

(01:49:38):
RBI double off the wall. Pollock with eight r b
i s, including a Grand Slam, Matt Batty seven r
b I s, including a slam, and the Dodgers, after
the ridiculous loss last night, had been three and ten
over the last couple of weeks, but got a w today.
Speaking of ridiculous, Cincinnati thirteen Cubs twelve in ten innings,
each team five home runs. Craig Umbrell, the Cubs closer,

(01:50:01):
took the loss. His e r A is still zero
for the season, though, because if you give up one
of those runs where they start the runner at second,
that's an unearned run because the league put the runner
on you didn't. The Cubs are dead last in the
n L Central. Twelve and sixteen, the Yankees and Corey
Klueber beat Detroit to nothing. Tigers have lost five in

(01:50:21):
a row their eight and twenty one. Miguel Cabrera is
still in the league, by the way, at the age
of thirty eight. Why, I don't know. He was oh
for for batting one fifteen. This is a guy whose
career batting averages three twelve. But Miguel, Yeah, an enormous
amount of money and he has career home runs four
eight nine. So I'm guessing he'll stick around to try

(01:50:43):
and somehow with a one fifteen batting average, hit eleven
home runs this year and then call it quits. But
wee shell s max Ers are complete game nine strikeouts
Washington three one over Miami. Then I heard he drove
to the hospital. His wife was in labor. So quenty day,
Texas five re over Boston, getting three runs bottom of
the eighth in the NBA late game. The Toronto win

(01:51:04):
against the Lakers was fourteen. Lakers have lost six of seven.
Phoenix is now tied for first with Utah in the
West after edging Oklahoma City okay See, still with just
one victory since March. It was Milwaukee beating Brooklyn today
Janiceutenant Coompo forty nine points in a one seventeen one
fourteen victory. Kevin Durant at forty two points in the loss.

(01:51:25):
He missed a late three point dry Now Milwaukee will
host the Nets again on Tuesday, just two weeks left
in the regular season. Regular season ends May sixteenth. Philadelphia
one on a tip in at the buzzer of overtime.
Tonight at San Antonio one thirteen, one eleven. Ben Simmons
the game winner Philly now alone in first half game
over the nets. And Kyle Bush took the NASCAR race

(01:51:46):
at Kansas on his thirty six birthday last night. There
he won the Truck Series race. Kyle Larson led the
most laps today but suffered contact on the final restart.
Finished nineteen. NASCAR's next three Sunday races will also be
on FS one and Guys today because of a sponsor.
The race was named the Bushy Mush and then it

(01:52:07):
was won by Kyle Bush. Of course, Bush, what do
you when you leave it up to you know, this
was probably the sponsor did it. But when you leave
it up to online people and the vote, you know,
it's It's like when they were trying to name that
one research vessel and the boat gut named Boatie mc
bote face. They didn't name it that unfortunately. Anyway, Thank you,

(01:52:29):
Thanks Stephen. By the way, Happy birthday to Kyle Bush.
It's the second time that he's won on his birthday.

I was again around this time is when Peter King's
Football Morning in America comes out, and he had this
quote from Rob Demoski, who covers the Packers for ESPN
and according to this has a good relationship with Aaron Rodgers.
He said when asked if there's what he thinks about

(01:53:10):
Aaron rodgers chances of being a Packer in his response
was less than five percent. Wow. I don't know if
there's gonna be that magic worked out between the Broncos
and the Packers and the Raiders and the Packers or
how might work out. But Arnie Buyer sell Aaron Rodgers
starts Week one for the Packers. Well, once again, that
was gonna be one of my other predictions out there,

(01:53:31):
but it's not going to happen. I think they are
going to move him after June or whatever that magic
date is where there's there's just too much bad blood.
And look, you made your bed the Green Bay Packers.
Now you've got to go ahead and lie in it.
You've drafted a quarterback in the first round, where you
trade it up. You know you weren't going to keep
him on the bench for three years. You were looking

(01:53:51):
for him to be the Air parent to replace Rogers,
and now you've hitsed them off, and now you've got
to make the not make the decision, the decisions made
for you. He wants to go. That's why the line
was going crazy for the Denver Broncos. There's still h
a chance he might end up there, but I think
after that June deadline, um, he'll go ahead and get

(01:54:12):
traded and moved on. I still think it's gonna happen.
I'll tell you what. If it does, it's gonna be
a blockbuster. I don't think this is gonna be a
situation where, especially if it's Denver. I mean, I I'm
so I loved. I'm a Derek Car defender, but I
don't think the Packers are like, can you give us Car? Okay,
we'll take Car in the first round. Pick No. I
think it's gonna end up being like you know what

(01:54:33):
we were talking about with the Hall for Deshaun Watson
and even Russell Wilson. I mean, I know Aaron Rodgers
is older, but we're starting at like four first rounders. Right,
if if you're Denver, if you got Aaron Rodgers, would
you be like the second favorite in the a f
C if the Broncos get him? I think yes, No,

(01:54:54):
the Vegas is what I'm at. No, I think they
still got I think they're still terrible defensively. But I
will say I find it fascinating for all of this
conversation about how the Raiders reach and how there's there's
chaos in their front office and everything sucks. But yet
the last two big name quarterbacks that are on the
market apparently they want to go to Vegas. Why is that, Artie?

(01:55:15):
If things are so terrible there? Who doesn't want to
live in Vegas? For crying out loud, what's wrong with
you this? Listen? Their rich athlete taking live with you exactly?
Don't go by me? Yeah, I mean, who doesn't want
to go and live in Las Vegas? World? The things
to do and all the great times you can have,
And um, I feel it's kind of like a great

(01:55:36):
destination to go. I wouldn't mind living there. Do you
think that a lot of the frustration for Aaron Rodgers
comes in his team losing to Tom Brady once he
moved to Tampa Bay. Do you think maybe he looked
at and said, damn, Tom went to Tampa and they're
winning games and they're beating me. Whenever he's the he's
the only addition to that team. I mean, yeah, Grock
was there, he came in and and Dominican Sue, but

(01:55:56):
Sue was what he was there the year before, right,
So I mean, you're just to me. I find it
kind of interesting that, you know, maybe that was a
tipping point for him, or you know, I think that's
a small piece there, Chris. I really think his hatred
for the front office of the Green Bay Packers. I
really you can feel. You can just feel that he's

(01:56:17):
just mad and upset, and you know, after what happened
last year and he didn't let it go, it's still
going on. It's it's lingering after a year. I think
that's mostly that's like nine percent of it. You just
feel that he's still upset about it. I think Peter Bukowski,
who was on with us in the first hour. If
you missed it, it's available on the podcast page as
soon as the show is done search part Sports Radio Weekends,

(01:56:39):
I think he brought up a great point I think
Green Bay was counting on him continuing to backslide a
bit when they drafted Jordan left and he went and
he was the MVP last year. So I love this
story because I don't think it's going anywhere any time soon.
You know, we're we're going next Arnie your picks into
Twitter to wrap up the show right here on Fox
Sports Radio. I love it Bobo wrapping it up tonight

(01:57:03):
with his jam. That's Bobo and the wheels of Steel
making the show run smoothly tonight. I lead the lap,
great job producing the show. He's been kind of quiet
during break, so I'll worry about him with this. That's
when Rogers saying, yeah, maybe maybe we weren't talking enough.
Aaron Rodgers for him, Steven stigare on updates and the
millions and millions of great editors behind the scenes giving

(01:57:24):
us audio like this from Lebron James moments ago when
he asked, what what needs to happen with the Lakers?
You need to be healthy and we need to be full,
you know, and uh, you know, if it's not one thing,
it's the other, you know. And then you know, we
show up today and our starting point guard Um it's
not in the lineup. Um, so it's like another blow
for us. Um So you know that's gonna be the

(01:57:45):
biggest thing for us down the stretch, more than the
games that we're playing on just how how healthy we're
gonna be, you know going into the stretch. Run David mcminimon,
who has been a long time reporter in the n
B A what covers the Lakers now for Yes, He
and tweeted these were remarkable postgame media sessions with Lebron
A d and Cou's they vented a season's worth of

(01:58:07):
frustration in thirty minutes. Feels like a broken team with
very little time to get it wow with that, with
that said, yeah, give me a little music, put me
in the mood. Um I got a few of them.
Not a lot of meat there, but you know, not
really a lot of games that you want to be picking.
But um, let's start with Aaron Rodgers. As I said

(01:58:30):
last segment, he's gonna be gone from the Patriots just
just too much bad blood. It's like going to your
significant other and said, yeah, I think we should try
dating other people, and then a month later you come
back and say, Okay, let's get back together. Well, too little,
too late, now, big shot, I found somebody else. Well,
the packers tried to have their cake and eat it too.

(01:58:51):
It's not going to work. You hit them off. Now
you've got to trade him. I really don't see what
option you've got. He can say that he's gonna retire,
but then he's got to a back a lot of
that bonus. I do you know what I would do, Plank.
I tell you every year I do this, Um come
into camp. Oh my back, I'm gonna be out eight weeks.
That's gonna serve you right now. You gotta pay me,

(01:59:13):
and I'm not gonna play. What do you think about that,
big boy? But he's never gonna do that because he's
up there in age. I I don't think they have
much of an option. They've got to let him go.
They've they've got the trade, was what I'm saying. And
I think he's gonna end up in Denver. Now, my
second pick by New York Knicks gonna end up number
four in the Eastern Conference. They'll finish five and three

(01:59:33):
in their last eight. My Knicks are back, my friend,
and they will win their first round matchup against Atlanta
or Miami. It doesn't make a difference. Let's get to
the Lakers, who will drop down the number seven when
the playoffs come around. By the way, something the Lakers
will lose six of their last eight games. Are we
gonna go two and six in their last day? They're

(01:59:54):
in a lot, a lot of trouble. I feel bad
for him. They're not healthy, and um, it's not that
easy of a schedule. A matter in fact, it's a
tough one. They're in for a blow. They'll finish your
number seven off to be in the playing game and
probably have to take on Golden State or San Antonio.
That could be a tough one. They might not get
through that with it, it's gonna be there. You can

(02:00:14):
boo al your one. And by the way, the Yankees
are back. They'll be in first place in about a week.
So there you have my picks two with him as
you please, no longer strictly for entertainment purposes only. I
love how quickly broadcast. Wow, you flipped on the Yankees
pretty quick. That's uh impressive. Almost there, I say, Well,

(02:00:36):
they're back there fourt they're at now five hundred is back.
The winning streak for the Yankees is at three straight.
They've won seven of their last tin, so there you go.
Red Sox have dropped back to back games. I'm sure
that's been a big conversation. And yeah, there's a little
market correction with the Red Sox. I think they lost
three or four to to the Rangers and they're coming

(02:00:56):
back down to the earth a little bit. A couple
of quick tweets here before we wrap things up, and
Ben Mallard takes over Paul Right, So, I'm kind of
sick of hearing about the Browns. No team gets more
attention for accomplishing less than them. They win one playoff game,
in the media acts like they've won three Super Bowls
in a row. Well, the Cowboys too, though let's let's
say they get a lot of media coverage. One of
vancomplished though. I would say that Cleveland jumped to the

(02:01:19):
top of that list this week because I think people
fell in love with what they did in the draft.
And oh, by the way, the draft was in Cleveland,
and I think they saw all the crazy people and
they wanted to get out alive. So their hope, their
thing was I mean, macho Man took over the stage
for like an hour. But yeah, so I a lot
of people were gushing about Cleveland, gushing about Dallas. But
I'm I'm with Paul. It's like, okay, listen, go go

(02:01:40):
win a cup. More games and we'll get crazier because
it's it's hot or cold, it's there's no one between.
With Cleveland, they're either great or awful. Baker's greater. He sucks.
He is usually what it is. Justin writes, I'd rather
watch horse racing than have celebrities lecture me um with
you on that one. Uh, let's see, there's a couple
of others here. Oh bake right, y'all silly thinking that
beliship he has focused on anything other than Week one,

(02:02:02):
nothing else onto Cincinnati and then kiss of Death to
wrap it up, Artie, this is a good one for
you because this this is near and dear to my heart,
because I'm in the market of a team that's taking
Kiss of Death rights. Isn't there a way for Adam
Silver to stop the very obvious? Okay, see take it?
Than he could slap them with a five million dollar
fine for every game they tank. Yeah, but they didn't

(02:02:23):
know what we did with the They're not guaranteed that
the number one pick we got the pink pog balls
in there, and barely does a team with the worst
records seem like they've got the number one pick anyway? Yeah,
I just think with the thunder the funny part is
watch the box scores. I'm not saying watch their games
because it's really really bad, But if a dude has
a good game, for instance, if lu Dort goes off

(02:02:44):
for forty, you don't know who lu Dort is. Uh,
he'll be out with a foot injury the next game,
right or or what's everyone's favorite fake injury planner, fasciitis
or something like that. That's the thunder Way. Now, all right, Hey, Arnie,
have a great week. The should be a fun week
of Aaron Rodgers, a speculation, and probably nothing else. Ben

(02:03:05):
Mallor is coming up next to recap the NFL Draft.
