Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Oh let's go, stinking genius.
You're not gonna believe this. Just wait for you to talk.
What's gone? So like as soon as we hit the air,
as soon and I know I've been gone for a while,
so you can make up your excuses whatever. It's like
I lost everything. It's like everything was gone. It was like,
what a timing to have a complete and total meltdown. Well,
(00:23):
we're good, I'm here. Uh, let's go. Are you ready?
I'm not really ready. It was a tough night last night,
but I'm ready to go. We'll get to that in
a second. And we'll get to that in a second.
I mean, this is the first show that we've done
together in a really long time. Are you aware of that?
Like in a month because your teams keep losing and
you're you're afraid to show up. Well, okay, so again,
(00:44):
it has nothing to do with my team losing and
being afraid to show up. It's a coincidence. It's a coincidence, Arnie.
My team won the National championship with the hell you're
talking about. You didn't show up before then when they
lost their first game. I did the show Saturday morning.
I did the show Saturday morning. And by the way,
just to fully defend myself, this is how long it's
(01:05):
been since we've done a show together. We haven't had
a show together since before the start of the Women's
College World Series, which is a really long time ago.
But Aren'tie, You do realize that by the time our
show would have been on Sunday night, they were already
in position to play in the Championship series. Right, I
don't remember the day. I understand, I understand. Why why
(01:30):
let facts get in the way of story? Well, we
got a big show coming up for the night, and
as always, we've got great Ghastly to Lap has hooked
us up. We just watch it go final. Chris Middleton
goes off in the fourth quarter the Milwaukee Bucks knock
off the Atlanta Hawks one, one oh two. We'll have
post game sound coming up in just a bit. All eyes,
(01:50):
I guess here, aren't here? On Trey Young's ankle injury
right to see because it looked significant. He he definitely
was was favoring it and didn't have that same oh
that he had most of the game. But that's that's
the key to Atlanta staying in the series. Right, Yeah,
they got outscored by like eleven points when he went
out in the third, So, um, that was a minus
eleving for Atlanta. I don't know if it cost him
(02:12):
the game, but it's really didn't help them, that's for sure.
I'll tell you what costs in the game. Chris Middleton
finally cooking and he was on fire. And it was
funny because Reggie Miller, whom a lot of people don't like,
I kind of like on the broadcasts. But I guess
that's just me trying to be different. He said, welcome
to the series, Chris Middleton, and it led me to
kind of dig back a little bit on how Chris Middleton,
(02:34):
who finished the night with thirty eight points in the series,
and of course he had that big game he had
thirty eight against the Brooklyn Nets. He had combined thirty
points in the first two games of this series. He
had not played well. Uh, he had shot twenty eight
percent from behind the three point arc, and the game
one lost, Chris Middleton didn't even have a three and
(02:55):
then lo and behold, ony he comes out and he's
on fire tonight. So we'll have a lot more from
this game one in one, oh, two, the Bucks win
Game three, they now be the best of seven series
two games to one. We're talking about the Clippers on
the verge of elimination and Kawai Leonard won't be ready
to go. What does that mean? And obviously we have
that overall discussion when it comes to the NBA playoffs?
(03:15):
Are you not entertained? And we had our first picture
that I know of got booted for having the sticky substance,
our first guy that got But we'll get to that.
But Artie, I'm worried about you. Where was the fire
takes so hot last night where they were flying the
you know a matter of fact, it wasn't even so
much of a h I mean, you gotta take me
through this because you ended up in the hospital. Give
(03:39):
me the loading. I had to go to the hospital.
And you can see by the text coming in right now, Um,
we're people are still ripping me over yesterday. Mason Maller
have to agree with Arnie. These close, exciting NBA playoff
games on Sunday night are just horrible for the NBA
and TV ratings. Of course, he's being sarcastic and Sean,
maybe tonight you should stay away from your all time
horrible NBA play off take last night. Torres should be
(04:02):
working with Chris Plank and you deserve a suspension at
Scott Shapiro. Check the tap, Harney, Harney, why are you
fighting with Twitter? Why are you doing this right? You
were in the hospital last night. That's where we're trying
to get to you. This is what started it. This
is what started I'm doing this show with Torres, right,
(04:22):
everything's feeling good, and I say, you know, I'm not
really enjoying the playoffs because the blue bloods aren't out there.
You know, I love the blue bloods. So there's no Lakers,
there's no Dance, there's no Celtics, there's no Nicks, and
I go the big stars, Anthony Davis, Lebron Kyrie Hardened, Kauai,
Chris Paul, YadA, YadA. Everybody's hurts, you know what I mean.
(04:42):
Everybody's hurts. So I go it's kind of taken away
from the front of the playoffs. Oh my goodness. You
would have thought I dropped F bombs on the air.
You're an idiot. You don't know what you're talking about.
These are the best playoffs. I go suppose in the
NFL I told you Patrick, Mahomes and Brady couldn't play
in the super Bowl. That's apples to oranges. I go
suppose I told you all the pictures wouldn't be able
(05:03):
to pitch because they got hurt in the playoffs. Apples
two oranges, all of the ozipples, all the goaliees couldn't
play in the playoffs, But apples to oranges, there's no comparison.
So I can't even believe that it was such a
hot take where I said, gee, it'd be nice if
the guys weren't hurt, if Lebron was in it and
didn't get hurt. You pause for a second, though, yeah
(05:25):
they're they're not in the finals. Though they're not. No,
I understand that, But there's you think that Brooklyn wouldn't
be in the finals if everybody was healthy. So I said,
it would be nice if everybody was healthy, unless they're
gonna tell me it's a good thing that Trey Young
got hurt. So anyway, we're battling and battling, and I
get off the area yesterday and we're battling, and me
and Torres. Everything I say is it is not a
(05:47):
good comparison. And I got a pain in my side,
and I'm like, Okay, no big deal. So I I
lay in bed for a little bit and it's just
getting worse and worse and worse. But I Am not
going to go to the hospital. But that just type
of person I am. So I get off the ARA too.
It's like three in the morning. I'm I can't even
lay down now. The pain is so excruciating. I can't
(06:08):
wait down. I'm walking around the house. I'm waking up
my wife. I said, yeah, I can't, I can't. I'm
in pain. At first I thought I had appendicitis going on. Um,
I didn't know what was going She said, you have
to go to the hospital. Have you Have you ever
had that before? By the pendicitis, I never had. I go.
I'm because you you have to go to the hospital.
I'm not going to the hospital. It's just taures and
(06:30):
the listeners driving me crazy. I think I tweaked something
in my rib cage or something. So here it is.
It's like five in the morning now, and I am
just I'm in pain like like you've never heard, like
you've never seen before. So I said, I have enough,
I go. I fine, take me to the damn hospital.
(06:50):
Take me can pause, just real quickly. I don't mean
to interrupt your story. When was the last time you
had to go to the hospital for anything? When I
was born? Are you serious with my mom? So there
you go, Okay, I will not interrupt you. So so
I so I go to the hospital and I can't
even lay down. They see I'm in a lot of pain,
(07:12):
and I'm like, you guys are gonna have to operate.
You're gonna The chief surgeon here at the Vermont Hospital
University of Vermont is a buddy of mine that I
played basketball if you went to Harvard. So if I call,
call my buddy, get him on here. I have a pendiciitist.
So they take me to do a cat scam and
they tell me, um, I have kidney stones, right yeah,
(07:33):
they tell me you have kidney stones. I'm like, it's
killing me. It's killing me. They say, kidney stones is
like comparison to women having birth. Let me tell you something.
Women having birth is like a paper cut compared to
when I went through. Do you understand that? Do you
understand that, Chris, with any women that if you gave
birth to trip with, you had a paper cut to
(07:56):
what I went through. Do you understand that? So I'm waying.
They go, you're gonna either we're gonna have to cutch
open you know, you know what do they call that
where they smash it or you're gonna have to pass
it and they get there they shoot them down a
little bit. That's what I understand. So I'm like, I'm
not you know, let's you know, let's see if it's passcorts.
(08:17):
Would you like some morphine? Yes? Yes, yes, So they
give me some morphine. I'm like, oh, this is Do
they sell that over the counter? By the way, I
just kind of curious. I'm like, wow, that's not so bad.
I can use this over the counter and feeling a
lot better now, I'm like, wow, what what do you
(08:39):
call this morphine? It makes me feel a whole lot better. See,
I'm surprised I even raised the stink that I was
in a lot of pain. Um. Yeah, after the morphine,
I just kind of slept for like in hours. They
wanted to keep an eye on me, and um they
wrote me a prescription froxy code own um. But when
I got home, I passed it has the stone, so
(09:01):
I didn't I didn't get the subscription filled or anything
like that. You can get that prescription filled if you
But let me tell you, like I said, can you
get more feet over the counter, because that really that
helps all your cures. I gotta tell you that. I'm
sure it's good on hangovers too. Okay, well, I mean listen,
I'm not sitting here going to try to tell you guys,
but women giving birth is like a paper cut compared.
(09:27):
I've never been through so much pain, Chris. I seriously,
I couldn't later, I was, I was almost crying. I'm like,
I mean, that's the only reason I broke down. I said, fine,
take me to the hospital and just put me out
of my misery. Do whatever you gotta do with me.
I can't take it anymore. It was excruciating, I mean,
scruc I never had pain like this before. It was unbelievable.
(09:49):
I'm very happy that you're okay, thank you, thank you.
I just I want to go ahead and separate myself
from your claim that what you went through was harder
than childbirth quickly. That's like a pink genius one. Yeah, okay,
I'm sorry at stinking genius one. That's Arnie span Your
I have so many questions on this and listen or
a sports show. But and I don't Lee's not in
(10:11):
on Saturday nights, right, You would think I just did
the show a couple of weeks ago. But the Sager's
in on Saturday nights, right, Steve, did you have any
inkling while this show was going on last night that
Arnie might be in pain outside of his usual bad takes?
I thought it was the usual sound of an artie
span your show. Okay, but you're saying pain for him
and plenty of pain for the rest of us. I guess.
(10:33):
Then my question becomes, there was no sign of this
when you were on the air then, right, certainly? And
drink plenty of water by the way, Yeah, drink water,
you're telling me. Yeah, you're telling me, Ginger right next
to me. That's not water. Not water. Water already, what
do you get water in you our alcohol? Now? Okay,
so you had no water, not water? Sorry, just how
(10:55):
the man didn't go phillisp for scripture for oxycott And
I'm still just blown away with Okay, number one, Number one,
you had no signs on the show while this was
going on. I was getting I had a little you know,
I felt like I had maybe I pulled a rib
cage or some Okay, so it really I wasn't thinking
about it. It was like late in the show and
I'm like, oh, no big deal, I've you know, I've
done that before, and I played basketball day, I played
(11:17):
in three games on Saturday, so I thought maybe I
I pulled something or like that. So kind of like
a North Carolina state, you just had a little bug going,
is what you go? Okay, Okay, no no problems hereing
the show. Can I number into a question before we
get in? You go ahead, Yeah, Bubba, I'm I'm all
in on this. I'm just kind of curious. How do
you pull a rib cage? I'm really curious about that
(11:38):
a rib you know, You're just like, yo, you got
something on the side to me and yeah, okay, like
something makes sense, But pulling your entire rib cage, like
you said it, like you have multiple rib cages? Is
there something you want to tell a wonderful clarification that
we needed to know the same thing to us. Yeah,
(12:00):
I was reminded during the Army Story. Earlier in the segment,
the Phil Jackson joke that his doctor had nicknamed one
of his kidney stones Kobe, because it just wouldn't pass
the thing. I thought of the same when you said
your basketball, but he was a doctor. I said, it's
not going to end well. The size of this kidney
stone was smaller than a pebble. And I'm like, oh,
(12:23):
that is what's killing me. This little thing is what's
killing me. You that's insane. I I did little size
smaller than just for the record. The National Kidney found
It Foundations has studies have shown that having even one
greatly increases your chances of having another. A real thing.
I went to the hospital because I thought I was dying,
(12:45):
and I thought I was My appendix was going to
burst on me in the middle of the night. So
I'm like, God, that's not gonna be good if that happens.
I better get Do you take water to basketball? Is
this a regular part of your life? I don't. I
don't drink enough water. I should say that I don't.
I drink too much, And Darrell is what I'm saying, Well,
all of us on the show, who love you deeply
and greatly, I would like to encourage you along those lines.
(13:06):
My wife has been screaming at me to drink water.
Drink water, drink water. It was really the Mason Maller
and all and Sean and all the other tweet twitters
blame me, man, pull your rib cage. They gotta be
so aggravated. It gave me kidney stones, is what it did.
Can you give somebody kidney stones? I don't know. I
don't think that. I know. I felt a lot better
(13:29):
after the morphine is but morphine is a It's fantastic.
It really. Just for the record, I'm randomly gonna come
on the show and just talk about your pool rib
cage exactly. Let's not forget about that. Have we mentioned
the human bodies over half water? This kind of comes
with the territory drink drink a gallon a day or
(13:50):
come on, man, Yeah, I'm starting over is right here,
Sager can see my joke sitting right here. Jeez, I'm
starting a new leaf. Okay, I'm drinking more water, No
more bats, is what's happen? Because he's not here, that's right,
(14:10):
by the way. I will I have to laugh because
the very first tweet that comes in from this is
from Mark, who writes, sorry about the paper cut you suffered.
Aren't he getting well? So I can't believe there's any
pain worse. And I know they say women given birth,
but I refused to believe that there's no way you
had more pain than I didn't know that. No real quick,
(14:32):
and we gotta break because Spencer Davis is going to
take us back to basketball. But I had to laugh
because the first tweet I got this morning was just
I don't know if you sent one last night and
your phone didn't cut it sent it, but it said
I should be okay for tonight. Just plan on talking
a little more. That's the first text I said, tweet text,
I'm like, what happened? You know? I said, I sent
(14:54):
a picture of me laying in the hospital. Okay, And
then I got I got that you've got to put
that on Twitter and some at some point you've got
to put it. Well, I'm glad listen and all seriousness
is as Sager said fun on the show, we're all friends.
I'm very happy you're healthy. I'm incredibly excited to be
back hanging with you tonight. And knows there young got hurt.
(15:15):

into that coming up as the show rolls on, but
right now, our focus is solely on Game three tonight.
The Bucks take care of business. And we're joined by
one of the best from basketball in Basketball News dot Com.
You can follow him on Twitter at Spin Davis. Spencer
Davies is in the house. What's going on? Spencer, First
(16:21):
and foremost, take me through Chris Middleton's bounce back. I
loved what Reggie Miller said when he said, welcome to
the playoffs, but Spence. It had been a rough couple
of games for Chris Middleton sent his breakout against the
Brooklyn Nets. But man, if he's gonna shoot like this,
this series could be over quick if Trey Young is not.
Oh you're so you're you're so correct on that. And
it's funny because, you know, on my own podcast, I
(16:43):
was talking about how Chris Middleton, for some reason, just
the entire playoffs, it takes him a couple of games
for him to get you know, his feet with It
just seems like it's like a fuel out process on
almost for him to get his shot right. I mean,
he always contributes on the defensive end. He's always you know,
a stalward on that end, and uh, you know he's
a great, you know, solid playmaker that they have. But
(17:06):
as far as his jump shot goes, sometimes it just
takes them a little bit of time to to really
get going. And you saw it in the fourth quarter,
I mean, pouring in twenty points and really taking him home. Uh,
as soon as you know, Trey stepped on the rest
ankle and it really went south for Atlanta. But you know,
credit to Chris Middleton because he came out there there
and really put it on him tonight, you know, Spencer,
(17:28):
overall though we're talking about this just overall on the playoffs,
I said, you know, no Lakers don't that, so Celtics
do Nicks. You know, all the injuries like Anthony Davis
and Lebron and Kyrie and Hardened Kauai and Chris Paul
And I just said, it's not enjoyable for me. If
you've been enjoying the playoffs, I think something's taken away
without the blue bloods and all these injuries out there. Well,
(17:49):
I'm always usually a glass half full type of guy,
So I'm looking at from the sense of there's new
stars being being born. Um, you know, you look at
guys like Devin Booker and Trey Young are stepping up,
uh into the spotlight. Even a guy like Chris Middleton tonight. Uh.
You know jan offense that a kumpo obviously uh quite
polarizing as far as you know basketball enthusiasts go just
(18:11):
from a skill set perspective. But you know, if you
look at the numbers and the accolades that he's piling up,
uh in you know, the two games away from the finals,
that's huge for his reputation. So while it does suck
that we're not seeing our usual faces around. I think
it's good for the league just because you have a
little bit of parody here and you have a little
bit of you know, there's different storylines you can look
(18:33):
at two. I mean, even Chris Paul being a game
away from his first Finals, there's still plenty to like.
And I think the competition has been great. You know,
the Clippers Uh and Son did not have the prettiest
fourth quarter U the other night, but um, you know,
it was still you know, a real close competitive game. UM.
But I think that you know, these series have been
(18:56):
pretty solid aside from the you know, the Game two
blowout that Milwaukee had. UM. But I truly do have
enjoyed what's been going on. Um, even though there is
obviously a way to take take away from it with
no Lebron, no stuff and and a d or Katie
and what have you. Spencer Davis is in the house
at Spin Davis on Twitter, Spencer, Uh, just one final
(19:17):
thought on at least this game tonight. There there's really
and I'm I'm an oklahomaguy, so I'm not trying to
build this up too much, but if Trey Young is
it a hundred I mean, this is really going to
be more of an uphill battle than it already is
because and I know you'll have some time to prepare.
I know that name mcmill can go back to the
drawing board in just a bit. But I mean, if
(19:38):
he's not a hundred percent the thing's done so done right,
it's very well could be. Um. You know, if Trade
can't you know, get that burst off of the ankle
that he twisted, that's gonna be really tough. You gotta
look at the others that that the Hawks are gonna
have to step up. Kevin Herder is going to have
to take it up to another level, almost like he
did in Game seven against the Sixers. Um. You know,
(20:01):
John Collins is another guy, but he's not really creating
for himself. Trades doing a lot of that. Um, I
think you have to look at Danilo Gallinari. He came
out tonight with eight teen points UM and was really
being aggressive and putting it on the deck, not settling.
He did a solid job tonight. But who I'm looking
at uh specifically, and he's been dealing with a knee
injury himself. As Bogdan Bogdanovitch and he just has not
(20:23):
looked the same ever since he's been dealing with that
injury that started in the second round against the Sixers.
So if Bogy can get back to doing what he
did against the Knicks and early in the Philadelphia series,
then you're talking about a team that can still you know,
do what they got they gotta do. But I mean,
the energy I think from the buck standpoint is really
(20:44):
standing out. And it's the it's the bench, it's Bobby
Portis and Pat Conaton, you know, getting the fifty balls
offensive rebounds, really taking it physically to them, and you know,
on the opposite end for for Atlanta too, I loved
what I saw out of An Yucca and Congwood tonight.
And uh, he had a really solid series against Philadelphia too,
So maybe they'll think about playing him a little bit more,
(21:05):
just because of his defensive versatility and also the way
that he's able to keep things moving on the offensive end.
He's a he's a really solid passing big man um
and he's able to go up and get get those
offensive rebound himself too. So I'm curious to see how
they'll adjust and how they'll respond. Luckily, for them at
at home, but I don't have the best feeling for them.
(21:29):
You know, Spencer Sons up three games to one with
Kauai out, I gotta think it's over. Though some people
are making a case last night. We're driving me crazy
that Hell, the Clippers are a better team without Kauai.
What is Kauai going to do after this year? Is
he going to opt out? What's going to happen there?
And is this series really over? Oh? Man, you know
that's a that's a crystal ball question that I really
can't answer. Um. I think that as far as the
(21:54):
series goes, Uh, I will just say this, and I'm
probably a little biased because I covered him the here
in Cleveland for a out, but I know that toront
lose the guy that goes game by game, quarter by quarter. Um.
You know, three one lead is something that he's come
back from, as we all know. UM. And we also
know that Chris Paul has very bad luck when he's
up by three games the one. UM. In this case, though,
(22:16):
I think that you're gonna have to to really dig
down deep if you're the Clippers. Um. You know, Reggie
Jackson's had a really solid solid postseason. I think that
Paul George, aside from you know, shooting threes and and
clutch free throws non clutch free throws, I should say
UM has actually had a pretty good playoffs himself too.
But the Suns they're just clicking on all cylinders right now.
And and you know, if if Chris Paul is really
(22:38):
back into that mind frame and back to himself, uh,
you know, prior to being out with the protocols, and
it's gonna be really tough to take down the Sun's team.
And you know, you're you're looking at guys like Campaign
coming off the bench making a different story. O Sarich
has been really good in the series. UM. And then
you have the you know, the role players like like
Mike mcl bridges that that come out and really play
(22:59):
solid defense and they make big plays at the right time.
They're very timely, and they're very patient about the way
they go about their business, and you just you just
don't want to see the Clippers kind of pressing uh,
And I don't think they will, because again they take
the identity of their head coach. But doing it on
the road is gonna be no easy task because Phoenix
(23:20):
is rocking boy that's an awesome arena. You're not line,
Spencer Davies. Thank you so much for your time. Man,
appreciate you standing up late. We'll have to talk to
you again soon. Man. Great. No problems at Spin Davies
on Twitter? Good get legal app. I really liked him
a lot. You can follow him on Twitter. That's at
Spin Davis. All right, I am say this very softly,
(23:41):
and so I don't get things done to me. I'm
going to defend Arnie's take. Playoffs aren't very good. That's
coming up, my love First, Steve to Sager has everything
to catch us up on here from the World of
Sports Trending update. What's up Steve? A lot of hoops news.
We start with first off in Atlanta tonight, Chris Middleton
scored twenty points in the fourth quarter. The Hawks scored seventeen.
(24:03):
There's your difference in the game. Milwaukee comes back to
win Game three of the East Final one thirteen to one.
Out two. Bucks lead the series two games to one.
Middleton finished with thirty eight points total, Jani Seutenant Cumpo
with thirty three, Trey Young four assists, four turnovers to night.
He left briefly with the sprained ankle second half, did return,
finished with thirty five points. The West Final continues tomorrow
(24:25):
night in Phoenix. Yes, the Sons are up three games
to one against the Clippers. And Yes, Kawhi Leonard is
out again with the sprain knee. He just missed a
sixth straight game. He will miss a seventh. The Suns
haven't been to the finals since n when they had
Charles Barkley. The East Finals just started Wednesday, so the
NBA Finals this year won't begin until July six or later,
(24:45):
over a week away. By the way, in the standings
at the All Star break, Philadelphia led the East by
a half game over Brooklyn. Milwaukee was two back at
the break. In the West, Utah led Phoenix by two
and a half games. For what it's worth, and Clipper
assistant Chauncey Bhillips will be Portland's new head coach four
year deal plus an option, according to Yahoo News conference
coming on Tuesday. He's in his first season as a
(25:07):
Clippers assistant. The Blazers also interviewed Mike D'Antoni and Becky
Hammon this week. The Dallas Mavericks new head coach will
be Lakers assistant Jason Kidd. Their new general manager is
Nico Harrison from Nike Kid has been a head coach
for Brooklyn and Milwaukee and was a Lakers assistant the
past two years. Of course, a former Dallas player. The
Stanley Cup Final starts tomorrow, and tennis Wimbledon begins in
(25:29):
the morning. At Copa America on Fox TV, today, Ecuador
tied Brazil one one, but Brazil had already qualified for
Friday's quarterfinals. At the Euro Tournament, Belgium eliminated Portugal one nothing.
Top ranked Belgium will face Italy in the quarterfinals Friday.
Check Republic upset in Netherlands to nothing. The Dodgers dominated
the Cubs tonight and Sunday Night baseball in l a
(25:50):
seven to one, winning pitcher Clayton Kershaw with thirteen strikeouts
in eight innings of work. The Dodgers led six nothing
in the second inning. San Diego scored three on the
bottom of the seventh. Today, Jarrazona five to four, Oakland
a six to winner at San Francisco. Seattle split a
doubleheader at the White Sox. The night camp was a
seven inning game. The opener was really just the completion
of yesterday's game that was suspended by rain. The high
(26:13):
price closer of the White Sox, Liam Hendricks, lost the
opener three two to Seattle, giving up a solo homer
in the top of the night. That was the second
homer of the day by Taylor Tramel, who was batting one.
Milwaukee won it's fifth straight five nothing over Colorado. The
Colorado Rockies record on the road this year now six
and thirty one. That's pretty good. Simone Biles a winner
(26:39):
tonight in St. Louis at the US Olympic Trials. She's
officially off to Japan and the Olympic Games, which start
in a month. She will try to become the first
female gymnast in more than fifty years to win consecutive
all around Olympic golds. You know, her last second place
finished in any meat came more than nine years ago.
(26:59):
And this item from NBC, the US is sending three
women in their twenties, how old on the U S
gymnastics team. That's the first since nineteen fifty two that
you have three women gymnasts in their twenties going. That
would include bials of course, who is twenty four. Back
to you, thanks a lot, Steve, as we are hanging
(27:19):
out on a Sunday night, It's Aren't in Blank on
Fox Sports Radio and Arnie, I'd mentioned that I'm I'm
gonna defend you. Here's an easy take, but go ahead. Well,
first of all, I don't agree with you. In fact,
I disagree with you a bazillion percent. Now, TV TV
ratings are probably going to be something that you can
use to say, see, no one's watching. But keep in
(27:41):
mind the comparison that you'll that people will have. The
TV ratings will be to two thousand and nineteen, and
it's a year when the Raptors ended up making the
finals exactly, so it's gonna probably look a little bit
better than it actually is. So I'm here to defend
you in every way, shape or form. This is me
feel bad for the kidney stones. But what is one
(28:03):
lesson that you always teach us about the shows that
the shows today. The show is not last week, The
show's not two years ago, the show is not three
weeks from now. The show is tonight. And Arnie, if
I were on the air with you last night after
watching that abysmal fourth quarter that the Clippers and the
(28:24):
Sun's put together and it all around pretty abysmal game.
I think I might even come away saying, oh my gosh,
he's playoffs suck. What in the hell is going on
right here? So I know that's not the basis of
your entire argument. You look at it and you're not
seeing staff, You're not seeing uh Lebron James, You're not
seeing these names and these teams you normally see. So
you need to be spoiled by the blue bloods. In fact,
(28:47):
I hate to see whatever happens if like a U
c F plays for a college football national championship, your
head is going to explode. But at least I think
I can defend you a little bit. Whenever I saw
this staff from last night's game and that the Clippers
were over tw over in the fourth quarter on shots
that could have tied the game or taken the lead.
The most such attempts without a make in the fourth
(29:08):
quarter of a game if over the last twenty five
post seasons, unbelievable game. There you go, Arnie, that game
last night, you having to jump on the air doing
the show right afterwards. I completely understand why you think
the playoffs And look at game two between was a
Milwaukee and Atlanta. Oh that was a part in burner
after the first quarter, you could turn that off. It
(29:29):
was a forty point win. It was disgusting. I mean,
it gave you a headache from watching that thing. So
um yeah, there's been some good games, some close games,
but it comes to the bottom line. If you don't
like the Blue Bloods, that's like saying, oh, good, Trey
Young got hurt. Now we don't have to watch him.
You want to see the best players. You want to
see Trey Young and Lebron and and Kyrie and Kauai
(29:50):
and Harden and Chris Paul. You you want to see
those guys. You don't want them getting hurt not play
in sure, of course you don't. Um, of course you
want to see everyone at their best. But that doesn't mean,
in my opinion that when you don't get him, everything
sucks and everything is awful and it's not worthy of
my attention. I mean, I think what I agree with
(30:11):
what Spencer Davies said. Have you not been entertained watching
Trey Young? Is this about him sticking the dagger through
the heart of your Nicks? Are ripping the heart out
of the Philadelphia seventy sixers, right now, Come on, Lardy
tell me that hasn't been fun to watch, and I have. Yes,
he's been a lot of fun to watch. I don't
know how they can slow him down a little bit,
but yes, he's been He's been tremendous to watch. But
you're gonna get that in a lot of playoffs, it's
not just one guy. You see that with all the
(30:33):
blue bloods out there. I I I enjoy watching him.
But that's just one aspect of the playoffs. Okay, okay,
well then that's one aspect. Have you not enjoyed what's
going on in Phoenix right now? I mean you keep
saying Chris Paul was hurt, he missed, Like what one
game he's out there he's miss that. I don't know.
I'm talking about Chris Paul. Yeah, I mean, Chris Paul
(30:54):
is not missing games and Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton
in this league where big men are supposed to be
just unplayable, he's brawling. Man. I listen, I have every
reason to want to hate on the on the Phoenix Suns.
I have this. I have like suddenly eighty Phoenix Suns
fans and I follow on Twitter that act like they've
been following them since Dan Marley was throwing down. I mean,
(31:14):
it's just it's hilarious to me, but it's come on, man,
that's a great story. And as hateable as Chris Paul
seemed to be, now he's one win away from the
first finals for the Sun since nine and they're doing
it with the fun group. You know what's so funny
is you say it's a great story. But I promise
you if something would have happened, and I'm talking about David,
I'm talking about Booker. Um, could you imagine after he
(31:37):
took off his mask, if he would have gotten hit
in the face and had to have surgery because of
because of his nose, then you guys would have said, oh,
that's not such a great story. But why did he
take his mask off? What kind of knuckle ahead? And
I was, I was bringing that up. I'm like, what's
he doing? Why is he taking that off? I can't
believe the doctors and the coaches. I think it's fine
from to take that off. He gets hit, the knows
one more time, who knows it could be career threatening.
(31:59):
I was, I was shy that he took it off,
But why would you allow that to be something that
would take away how you're enjoying the playoffs. A hypothetical
situation about a dude Flippers CP three was hurt Kauai
letters not playing. It just doesn't see my call that
you know that they're both health healthy. I mean, it's
(32:20):
it's an okay series, but I I could have given
you a lot better series for the Western Conference. I'd
like to see the Lakers and the Clippers all healthy
in the Western Conference Finals. There's there's a lot of
better matchups. I'd like to see broken to the Eastern
Conference Finals, but they're not gonna be there again. I'm
not gonna change your mind. I've accepted that. But if
you're gonna tell me that it was a horrific game
(32:43):
in Game two with that incredible finish with point like
two seconds left, No, I'm not gonna tell you that.
But Chris, let me explain this to you. Okay. When
I was single and I wanted the date girls, I
wanted date nines and tens. Okay, I didn't want to
date twos and threes. Does that help you a little bit?
I went, I want that the blue bloods, the big names,
the best, well, the nines in the tens. You understand
that that that's what I'm looking at. Well, you got
(33:05):
a nine or a ten kind of a performance in
some of these games, aren't you? In every single sport,
You're not going to get a ten every single night
in the playoffs. It's just not reality. And it never
was with Boston. It never was with Larry Byrd, and
it never was with Michael Jordan. There were some stinkers
that were laid out. They were and you're acting like
(33:26):
every game was this competitive nail bier with them, and
there was a lot of we don't remember them, but
still you had Jordan, and you had Bird, and you
had all the big names. You had Hall of famers
out there. Is what I'm saying. Well, anyway, we are
going to have to so for the sake of your
kidney stone and my indigestion. And I've been so calm
and relaxed over the last three weeks that I don't
(33:49):
want to get into five. But I just I can't
fathom that you watch some of these games, You're like,
this sucks. Where's Lebron? I love Lebron? I love the Lakers.
It's still good? Why good? It's good? We're good it's good, Arnie.
We do it in the NFL. Do we do when
your team gets eliminated? Do not say, oh, I would
love to see Tom Brady going up against Bill Belichick
(34:10):
or or whatever it is. We don't say, well, that's
gonna be a fun game because Jacksonville made the Super
Bowl or something like that. We're not gonna say that.
We're gonna say it's gonna be a stinker. But again,
you don't know that, You don't know. You can say
that all you want, but you with one of the
greatest games we've ever had. That's why they hired me here,
because I do know that. That's why I've been hired
(34:31):
here at Fox Sports Radio. When we come back, we'll
wrap up our number one with some of the postgame
audio as the Bucks get it done tonight, We'll get
you ready for the Clippers and the Sons. Can the
Phoenix Suns clinch their first finals bid? And over what
twenty years or will the ghost of being up three
(34:52):
one in playoffs passed track again? For Chris Paul, it's
all coming up with Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio.
It's Annie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio. Leadle app
producing the show hooked us up with Spencer Davies. You
can find that on our podcast page as soon as
the show wraps up. Todd Ferman coming up next hour.
Buy or sell in the final hour, how about this
(35:12):
support for you aren't on Twitter at CBS, Shawn writes,
stinking genius here point. I know several women who have
given birth and pass to kidney stone. All have said
passing a kidney stone was worth granted, neither said it
was like a paper cut. And yes, morphine is a
very good pain medclat You're okay. It made me feel
(35:33):
a lot better, Chris, it did. But did they say
it was like pulling a rib? Pulling a rib? Gage?
That's what I'm curious about. UM, I like MIKEAE and Jacksonville.
What the hell are you disparaging Jacksonville out of nowhere? For?
What hell did they do to you? We live in
freaking you live in freaking Vermont. We live in Paradise.
You know we're on too many places, Chris, I gotta
tell you, I just maybe we should just cut it
(35:54):
down to like Arizona, Vermont and Los Angeles. That's it.
Gonna have, Oklahome at least, uh It's funny because here's
one thing that I've accepted about working with Arnie now
for many, many years, over ten years, over ten years,
is that Arnie is definitely a big brand guy. And
(36:16):
if you're gonna come to Arnie and try to sell
him on a Cinderella story, unless that Cinderella involves the
Arizona Wildcats, the New York and Knicks, or the Miami Dolphins,
He's not here for it. And that's I mean again
that that's fine. But here here's where we're a'll bite back.
I just don't think that they've been bad playoffs. Has
they're been bad games? Sure, there's always bad games. Even
(36:37):
the Mason Mahler, by the way, is stepping up to
support you here, Arnie. He tweeted in to say, I
gotta give my man Arnie Spanish some credit. Despite his injury.
He isn't on load management and not sitting in a
suite during the show like Kauai Leonard get well. Soon
look at it this way, Arnie, you can rest while
watching pandemic p I gotta tell you, when I saw
Kawai yesterdays and I knew there was something with his knee,
(37:00):
I didn't know there was something wrong with both his
wrist that he couldn't clap, and I didn't know he
had something wrong with his face where he can't smile either.
That guy, I mean, do something, clap, stand up and
say yeah, let's go give me a fist pump. You're
standing there and doing nothing. You're sitting there doing nothing,
and you're not getting involved. You're not getting pumped up,
you're not get your you know, you should be down
there on the bench, get your team all pumped up.
(37:22):
And and by the way, how about if he sees
something that nobody else sees. How about he you know,
says uh to some of the guys, Hey, why don't
you try this, try that, help out, become another coach.
He's just sitting up there, eating whatever he's eating, doing nothing.
You know. The only thing that I could think of
would be if there's rules about injured players on the bench.
But I don't think that's I don't think there is.
(37:42):
But there's other injured players. And I just mean with
with COVID, But you're right, I know, what, what's the
guy who they just pick up? Um? So, dude that
was standing up dressed to the nines last night on
he's injured, not playing. I cannot not think of his
name right now. This is gonna bother me, sir. He's
not he's not. He's sitting on a bench. So why
can't Kauai? And you gotta be serious. If this was Lebron,
(38:06):
if this was if anybody else in the league, anybody
even Chris Middleton, that he would have never lived this down.
But for some reason, people expect this from Kawhi Leonard
and it's like it's just Kauai. He doesn't have any personality, okay,
and he doesn't even get excited. Forget about him sitting
up there. He get excited, clap a little bit, smile,
(38:26):
be happy that your team just made a comeback. But
he doesn't give you a nothing, nothing, nothing at all.
I was nothing. Could you imagine him singing you happy birthday?
What's gonna happen if he opts out? Is he going
to hop out? What's going on there? Here's here's what
I would say. I don't have any beat on him,
and I don't know if anyone does. And by that
I mean what he wants to do. The only thing
(38:49):
that we know that he wanted to do was that
he wanted to play with Paul George and made that
happen at the expense of quite a few draft picks
for the future for the Los Angeles Clippers, which I
don't know if the Oklahoma City Thunder ever gonna use
or just continue to stock up draft picks or what
Sam Presty is doing. But I mean, I I guess
now there's a rumor that started just what this morning
(39:11):
from Dan Felderman that now he's not happy with the
Clippers medical staff. And so if that's now that he's
not going to play in what what is? What game
is coming? A game five tomorrow night, does that continue
to add to the issue quite a bit? And listen,
I know too in this part of this as a
(39:31):
Skip Bayliss rumor as well, So take that for what
it's worth. But Arnie keeps kind of piling up the
lack of a reaction, not being down there on the
bench with your team not trying to And again, we
don't know what he's don't go through practice, we don't
know if he's grinding and pushing or not. But there's
a lot more question marks that are added to this
(39:52):
just based on the way that he's acting right now.
Isn't there. I can see him going to the Lakers.
I could see him say that he with the Clippers.
I want to stay in Los angele So I'll just
go to the Lakers because Lebron is not gonna be
here forever, and he'll give me a good three to
four more years. Run on there, I'll go there. You
can you go on? We want We got Taylor, Horton, Tucker,
now get out of here, Kauhi Leonard no, I would.
(40:15):
I'm just fascinated, Arnie to see what is next on
that front, because listen, we all know the history. I
don't think you can say it's over. I know you.
You call that game over after two minutes into the
game the other night. I think it's kind of hard
to say it's O V E R for quir right now.
But based on what we've seen, based on actions, the
(40:36):
actions don't look like a guy that t happy where
he is all right when we come back. More on
the Bucks win tonight, knocking off the Hawks, and Todd
firhim and next on Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports Radio

let's go in an hour to Arnie and Plank on
Fox Sports Radio. Curiosity always very high on my list.
If you missed our one, Arnie was in the emergency
room at four am last night after spitting his hot
(41:42):
takes last night with Aaron Torres and fighting with all
the lists, blaming, blaming the listeners. But everything okay with
the kidney Stone so far, you haven't had to go
to the the med's. You're drinking plenty of water. Everything good.
I gotta pick up the water. I've told me to
drink like cranberry juice and stuff like that. But um,
(42:03):
once they gave me the morphine when I was in
the hospital, UM, I felt a hell of a lot better.
I told you that I wish I could. I'm like,
did you have any of this stuff to go? I would,
I'd like to take this home with me. And then
when I got home, I passed the stone. So that
was the We had to deal with it for a
couple but let me tell you, for a couple of hours,
it was the worst pain ever. I I've never experienced
anything like that. I would rather have you guys just
(42:24):
punched me in the face over and over again. Um,
and then I have to go through a pain like that.
Where do I sign up? Like, right now, I got
a pain. I promise you you will not mess with
your rib cage. I promise I will make you. I'm
glad you're okay, Areney? Well? The big question is after
(42:46):
tonight's win by the Milwaukee Bucks, who take to one
lead over Trey Young and the Elant Hawks through three
games in the series. That's kind of obvious, right, Why
don't have to break that down anyway. Trey Young just
moments ago afterwards asked about his ankle and how's it doing, because,
I mean, let's face it, Arnie, I think we all
pretty much agree. If that ankle is in, the Hawks
(43:08):
are done so done right. He didn't tweak at that
bad dog. He just kind of stepped on the officially
was standing there. I didn't It wasn't like it was
tweaked that bad, So I really didn't understand why. Um,
you know, I guess he just landed awkwardly. But let
he just took a step on it. Let's let's ask straight, y'all. Yeah,
it's it's sore right now. Um, it's a it's it's
(43:29):
hurt and it's frustrating. Um yeah, I mean it's hurting
a little bit. And I saw I got some treatment
on I'm gonna go get some more in the morning.
Uh yeah, let me have some more. That's all I
can do right now. He'n get treatment and then yea,
when I came back game, it was just kind of
sore and I maybe Matt couldn't really go as fast
as I wanted to, and then when I did, it hurt.
(43:50):
So Uh, this Guta's gotta get treatment and hopefully it's
not better for this game. Wow, did you hear what
he said, Chris, uh, that he's getting treat No, No,
you're what he said. I have a bad ankle. So
if you've guard me real tight and get in my face,
I'm gonna have a bad game. So this series is over.
Why don't you keep stuff like that to yourself. You
can't say I'm gonna be okay, I'll be ready for
(44:12):
game four. You don't say my ankle really hurts. So
the guy can get in your grill and know that
from the start they're just gonna be pestering you, and
you're gonna go and have a bad game. This series
is over. I think it was kind of a known
thing though, whenever he limped off the court that he
was dealing with an ankle injury. Right says he's always
good to go whenever he does talk. Since you brought
(44:34):
up Kauai, let's hit a couple of tweets on that,
because we've gone back and forth. We've been playing a
little a little pepper here. Between the Bucks win tonight
and the incredible performance from Chris Middleton, will hear from
him coming up a little bit later on in the show,
and then obviously what happened last night, and now going
forward in the Clippers Son series and in all of
us pretty surprised that he's not even on the bench
(44:57):
and he's up in the suite. Uh. Here's what Bake writes.
Kauai's brand is less is more. Less playing time, less
emotion on the bench, less communication about injuries, less scoring
opportunities for his opponents. Less. You know, it's actually kind
of funny that you mentioned that, Bake. Back in the day,
one of the radio stations that I worked for that
was their big buzz phrase was less is more. It's like,
(45:20):
what is that? Even I'm supposed to talk lass around
the radio, But that's pretty much on point, right. I mean,
Kauai's been a guy that we don't know much about,
always clouded in mystery when he plays. Yeah, he's a
shutdown defender, but he's just that's always been him. Like
like it or hate it, and that's what he is.
That's what he's been. Well, I don't like it. I mean,
like you said, like it or hate it, I don't
(45:41):
like it. I think, you know, if you want to
go ahead and be a big brand name and sell
shoes and do commercials. You gotta be a lot more
personal than he is right now. And just for your teammates,
you've got to be more personable just to sit there
like a lumpa cole I. I just don't understand that
whole thing. Good question from d J Infamous, who writes
says Kauai is having Clipper or having issues with the
(46:02):
Clippers medical staff like he did with the Spurs. Why
didn't he hire his own doctor to be on the
Clippers staff? Katie had a bodyguard on the payroll for
the Nets. For goodness sakes, he does have his own doctor.
A matter of fact, didn't he have his own doctor
when he was in San Antonio the one that told
him not to come back while san Antonio was told
him to come back. I mean it certainly wasn't his
medical opinion not to come back. He had a doctor,
(46:23):
did he not? Hear my wrong? No? No, no, he
had That's that was his camp that got sideways with
san Antonio. And you know, Greg Popovitch, to Pop's credit,
I thought handled it as well as you could. Remember.
Every week it's like, I don't know, you know, we'll
see if we had and we got he came out
and was u disparaging against Kauai when he said, remember
one time he was like, I don't know what's going on,
(46:44):
referred him you know that that type of thing, and
then everyone lost their mind and he listen, I don't
know what I'm supposed to do here. Uh. And then
nature Boy rites, by the way, Nature Boy has been
on fire on Twitter tonight. In fact, Nature Boys tweets
have been so good I totally remind me we've got
to spend most of this final hour on twe it.
Nature writes, why are you guys so hard on Kauai?
(47:04):
Would you prefer he made false tweets against the law
enforcements like other moren Wow. Uh. I don't think it's
a political thing by any stretch of the imagination. Nature.
I think, more than anything else, it's just we want
to see something, right, you want to hear something. We're nosy.
We we need to know it. Do you know what's
going on? He did? We're like, oh my goodness, he's
(47:26):
taking what did they run that like? Once? And that
was it that they were done with that commercial it uh?
And then everyone diving into the parody in the league.
But It's kind of funny to me because here we are.
We just wrapped up a wild fourth quarter in which
Chris Middleton went off and the Bucks beat the Hawks
one thirteen, one oh two. We're getting ready for a
(47:48):
Game five, which could be a decisive Game five, and
Phoenix at Places gonna be rocking tomorrow night between the
Clippers and the Suns. And Arnie, I know your disdain
for the fact that we're not talking about the Nets.
Are the Lakers or the Warriors? Are the Sixers? In
this situation, It's funny because we have enough off the
court stories to where we could talk about some of
(48:10):
these individuals and these players, right because sure Quiet his
own category, these teams, these games tray young injuries, injury
situation was gonna be talked about. But now suddenly with
some of these coaching hires, you have this whole other
avenue of news and stories and topics to get into, like,
for instance, what the hell is going on in Portland
(48:31):
right now? Because you do go out and you hire
Chauncey Billips, which, by the way, Chauncey Billips has been
a finalist for a lot of jobs in the NBA.
Many people wanted to hire Chauncey Billips as their head coach.
And then as soon as Chauncey Billips is hired as
the head coach, what do we find out? Oh, Um,
Damian Lillard's not happy. And suddenly Chris Haynes, who we
(48:52):
were trying to get on the show tonight, he may
be able to join us next week as an article
to where hey this is this is something that it
appears that Damian Lillard is a fan of right now.
So I mean you have to to your point Arnie
that hey, I'm not really into these playoffs right now,
(49:12):
they're not entertaining me. Suddenly we have a story like this,
it blows up that will end up being something people
probably talk about more this week than anything going on.
And I agree. And you know what does that say?
You hired a coach that your superstar doesn't approve of
or doesn't want on there. Well, now you've created a problem.
Now you either have to get rid of the superstar
that you superstar or the coach has to go ahead
(49:33):
and and um say hey, what's wrong and try to
you know, smooth things over U And that usually doesn't work.
So I'm wondering what's gonna happen next for Portland and
where this goes because of that, so and again if
you're not familiar with this story, we were kind of
parsing through it a little bit earlier on the show.
But Portland's negotiations are were negotiations, and they announced they're
(49:54):
hiring Chauncey Billips as the next head coach. Nielo. She
conducted the search, but apparently none of the candidates who
were interviewed were from suggestions that Lillard laid out. According
to sources, and if I'm not mistaken, one of the
suggestions was Jason Kidd, and Jason Kidd came out and
said I don't want the job, and he ended up
getting hired by the Mavericks. So I don't know how
(50:16):
to listen to the players. This is another one of
those that you and I fight about quite a bit, though, Arnie,
I think you do not completely one percent. But you
need to take it into consideration. You have about in
Boston when they have Tatum and Brown. Suppose they want
to different coaches. Now you're going against one of them,
are you not? Well? Apparently Jalen Brown is supposed to
be the smartest dude in the NBA, right, so I
probably listen to him. But I mean, I hear what
(50:37):
you're saying, I completely understand. But to me, I think,
whenever you have a guy that has been so committed,
so loyal and such a difference maker, I think you
listen to a guy like like how muchaid Chauncey Billips,
like Damian Lillard, you listen to a guy like Aaron
Rodgers in Green Bay, which is the whole foundation of
his frustration with the Packers. But we'll get to that later.
(50:58):
I mean, in this instance, doesn't have to be all
or nothing in your opinion, Arntie to where you always
listen to the players or you don't, because I think
in certain situations you can say, yeah, I think damon
little Damian Lillard deserves a little bit of impact or
at least a little bit of some talking to a
little bit of influence is the word I'm looking for
when it comes to the Portland Trailblazers search. I don't
(51:19):
know if Jayson Tatum and and Jaylen Brown do. I mean, again,
this is a guy that's been in Portland for years.
Can it be maybe different strokes for different folks in
different situations, depending on how loyal or how long the
guy's been there. Well, and you do have a good
point that a matter of fact, I probably would have
asked him his opinion, and I would have asked him
some other stuff too, not so much just about who
(51:40):
the coach is gonna be. I'd say, Hey, who do
you want up here? Who can we get? Who's gonna
be a free agent? Who can we trade for? Who
do you like to play with? Who's unsung that we
really don't know, Who's that defender that locks you down
that we should go ahead and get. You know, stuff
like that is always to be more important than who
the next coach should be. And I will say, you know,
and this is by no means, by no means a
(52:01):
knock on the Yeah, whose sports report are Chris Haynes?
But Arnie, there's really not a lot of meat to
this right now. I mean this is because the first
the enormous backlash from the Portland Trail Blazer's process to
hire a new head coach and his concerns on weather
championship contenders can be built have become factors that may
(52:21):
push the franchise player Damian Lillard out the door. Leak
sources told yah, who sports. Maybe I've been living under
a rock, But didn't they just make the announcement that
they were hiring Chauncey Billops like a couple of hours ago.
I mean, I mean, I just I I guess whenever
you say the backlash, Yes, there's some things in Chauncey
(52:43):
Billups past, but this dude has been on the top
of everyone's coaching list. If if you were to listen
to NBA Twitter whenever his name. Oh, I can't believe
Chauncey Billips didn't get that job. Now he gets a job,
and it's oh, he sucks out there. They hire him.
They didn't hire this person, or they didn't hire the
prison that Damian Lillard. Once again, I would understand that,
(53:03):
but I just I no offense to the article or
to the writer. But I just don't think there's a
lot of meat to this right now. And you talk
about how championships are built. Remember now, think about this
for a second. Ever since Portland's lost to the Lakers,
how many years ago was that twenty years ago? When
they were up by sixteen points, um ed Staples Uh
(53:24):
to go ahead, and and and and and the Lakers
and then their season they choked away the lead, the
Lakers come back, they win the championship, and Portland has
never been the same since. They can't even sniff a
Western Conference finals after that. Um so sometimes you have
your chance and they've disappeared after that's been like twenty
three years or something like that. You know, it's funny
(53:44):
that you mentioned it because we were talking about great
video games the other day, and whenever I was a
little kid, the game that you would buy was called
Bulls Versus Blazers because before it was like well during
the time when it was like Madden twenty mad, nineteen
mad and eight teen whatever it is. Uh, back back
in my day of video games, it was always whoever
(54:06):
played in the championship was the name of the of
the game that you would buy. So it would be
Blazers Bulls Bulls Lakers was the name of it. From
me a sports and Arnie, you're right, this is a
team that hasn't been to the NBA finals since nine Now,
they did go to the finals in the conference in
ninety nine, and as you mentioned, against the Lakers in
(54:27):
two thousand, but it's just and and by the way,
they did go to the conference finals a couple of
years ago against the Warriors, but they got swept. You know,
they weren't even close in that series. So I guess
it's been a long twent something years after that Laker loss.
Well yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, you're absolutely right, and
you want to go back even further ninety two since
(54:47):
that Bulls loss is even deeper. But I gotta tell
you something, man, I am a I'm a firm believer
that Damon Lillard's gonna stick it out because if he leaves,
that goes against everything that he's been preaching, Right, that
goes against everything that he's onund of stood for, That
goes against the foundation that he's built. If he comes
out and says, hey, I want out. Though, Kevin Garnett,
we never thought he was gonna leave Minnesota. Where would
(55:08):
he go though? Where? I mean, he wouldn't go to
the Lakers so he could be by Anthony Davis and
Lebron He wouldn't go to the Clippers. Um, where would
he go? Uh to still be the guy on the team.
I'm not sure where would be a good situation for him? Well,
and first of all, I think there's one thing that
needs to be very clear here, and all of this
kind of like the situation involving James Harden. Damian Lillard's
(55:31):
not a free agent. I mean, he's not a guy
that is in the midst of of getting ready to
have a deal where he can go somewhere else. I mean,
as I understand his contract, he's basically under contract until
four and as a player option for the twenty five season. Well,
James Harden says he doesn't have to worry about that.
(55:52):
Once again gets back to my point, the contracts are
irrelevant in the NBA because when you say you want
to get traded, magically, you get traded anyway. Fast dating
story that we think is developing tonight involving the future
of Damian Lillard, it's kind of diverted a little bit
of attention from the big win tonight for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Joined right now by a man who was also an
incredible follow on Twitter at Todd Ferman. You watch him
on f S once Fox pat Live. You hear him
not only here on Sunday nights, but also on the
Better Board podcast. Todd First of all, with the injury
(56:58):
to Tray Young, are the ding up ankle, however it
wants to be phrase gosh, how much does that kind
of change the change the numbers you think in this
series going forward? Yeah, it'll change things substantially if he's
unable to go. In Game four, you saw the Hawks
offense Chris kind of bogged down without Tray as a facilitator.
He wasn't the one bringing the ball up the court,
(57:19):
and they looked ill equipped to really operate in the
half court. And then of course Chris Middleton gets white
hot from the outside, and it was all she wrote
in a game I thought the Hawks could steal in
their own building. Winning outright is four and a half
point dogs. But we've seen it time and time and
again in these playoffs. It's almost become a war of attrition.
And when you look at the early numbers here, it
appears the Bucks let me about a six six and
a half point favorite total in the game sits at
(57:40):
two one and a half, down a touch from where
it was today, and my opinion, that's a slight hybrid line.
It says that Trey Young it will be out there,
but he definitely won't be all right. A couple of
things on that. Can you put the game right now? Um,
even though it's still still a little on, what's going
on with Trey Young? And why don't they take it
off the board so they find out more about it? Well,
I think it's everyone is kind of in the wait
(58:02):
and see mode. If you hang a number this early
and folks think that they can get a jump start
on where this number is going to go, then you
move aggressively off of that kind of action. But this
time of year, you want to try and keep those
numbers up there for as long as possible to generate
as much betting handle. Tree Young is important to the
Hawks in it. Of course, if he's not out there,
it changes the way you have to handicap it. But
the impact he'll have on the point spread isn't like
(58:23):
Aaron Rodgers being out for the Green Bay Packer. I
like the way you put that. Um, We've been fighting
about this a little bit tonight, so Todd help us out.
Arnie is not entertained. He is not enjoying what's going
on with these NBA playoffs. I like to see the
blue bloods right right right. How have you, as a
(58:44):
fan enjoy the NBA playoffs so far? I think there's
been an increased level of competition. We're seeing some unfamiliar
faces out there. Clearly, you'd like to see the best
stars in the forms of Kawhi Leonard out there at
a percent, et cetera as a result. But the reality
of it is, these teams have earned a right to
be in this particular spot, and you're seeing a slight
changing of the guard. I think in terms of who
(59:05):
the true superstars are, yes, we're not going to ignore
the Kevin Durance and Lebron James of the world. But
to say that Janice and Devin Booker, Trey Young, and
when you look at this Clippers seemed clearly Paul George
has had to do a lot more than we anticipated
coming in. Hey, look, maybe a little bit of parody
is good in the NBA when you diverge from the
normal four or five teams that we see vuying for
(59:27):
the Larry O'Brien Trophy. There's a reason that all four
remaining franchises haven't won in quite some time, and in
the Clippers case, have never won an NBA title. You know,
you can make a case that if it wasn't from
major injuries, all four of these teams that are left
play and wouldn't even be where they are right now.
I mean, think about that, uh, In in in the
in the Western Conference, you can say, well, the Lakers,
if they didn't have all their injuries, Golden State, my goodness,
(59:48):
they've just been decimated, just torn apart with all the
injuries the last couple of years. I don't think Atlanta
would be where they are right now, and who knows
if Milwaukee would too also there Todd Well, I think
that's always kind of the case, and when you look
at the condensed schedule, maybe that's contributed to more players
getting hurt. We've seen load management, but you know, there's
no difference than if you're talking about the NHL, Major
(01:00:10):
League Baseball, or any of the other major sports that
are out there. Injuries always play a role, and part
of you know, being a championship team and maintaining that
pedigree is having your stars available and ready to go.
If they're not, it's next man up mentality, and so
places the onus on general managers and a lot of
these franchises to work through some of their depth so
they can weather the storm. Of course, in the NBA,
(01:00:32):
where you're talking about a five to eight man rotation,
max you lose a key star, it's tough to you know,
play that next man up card much differently than what
you'd see in some of the other sports out there.
So todd This week, I've been all in on college
baseball coverage and for those that haven't paid attention to
the World Series, North Carolina State got booted due to
COVID issues. How did the books handle that? Books are
(01:00:55):
gonna grade it like they would a normal injury situation.
I'm sure, there may be a couple of shops to say, hey,
look we're gonna refund for bad karma, But the reality
of it is, Chris, when you were funding the NC
State Wolfpack in a game like this, it doesn't grab
the same headlines as it would with John Ram and
the memorial because there's just not enough betting handle and
you're gonna notice that books are going to take a
much different approach to this. So we always have to
(01:01:17):
be careful and have to ask ourselves as these legalized
sports betting space expands, if books feel like they're giving back,
why are they doing it? What's potentially the ulterior motive?
You haven't seen headlines for this creative because I have
to imagine there was only a handful of folks that
were negatively impacted with NC State futures. Todd, my Montreal Canadians,
only an hour hour and a half from you, my friend.
(01:01:37):
Any interest in the Stanley Cup or is that gonna
go unnoticed? I think from a casual fan, it's not
gonna have a whole lot of intrigue. These aren't two
teams that necessarily resonate, especially out here on the West Coast.
But for anybody who watches hockey, They're gonna stay glued
to their edge of their seat trying to see if
Montreal can complete arguably one of the biggest Cinderella stories
that we've seen in the NHL, if they're able to
(01:01:59):
win the Cup. Knowing that they were upwards of a
hundred to one, up to a hundred fifty to one
when they faced at three one deficits to Toronto, we
haven't seen a team with anything close to those type
of long shot odds. Well, I guess for two seasons
when the St. Louis Blues are dead last in the
league in early January, meanwhile, Tampa the defending champs, and
you're gonna have one of the best goaltending battles that
you could ever dream up in Andrey Vassilevski and Carry Price.
(01:02:20):
But if you're looking for high flying offense and big
time shootouts, this won't be the series for you to watch.
But I do think it's going to provide all sorts
of entertainment value, and me, being a hockey fan and
obviously biased, I'll watch every single game of the series
and hope it goes the full set. Awesome, Hey Todd,
one more from me man, I I feel like my
inbox is in NASCAR terms done blowed up every week
(01:02:42):
with some sort of college football lines or opening week spreads.
Are these official out there now or do these just
kind of sprinkle in from different books and offshore places
throughout the off season. You won't have full limits on
the games that are available, but these are definitely numbers
that are out there and readily available. And as we
start to look at what's going to be arguably the
biggest opening college football Saturday that we've seen, you know,
(01:03:04):
over the last handful of years, if not ever, I
mean you see why the Marquee games all have numbers
out there, and we've seen major movement in Miami Alabama
game that opened with the Crimson tide as low as
the thirteen a half point favorite that numbers out the nineteen.
When you look at some of the other matchups out there,
Georgia Clemson will have lasting ramifications L s U U C,
l a UH, and then of course the standalone games
(01:03:25):
for Labor Day weekend Sunday Night, Notre Dame now out
to an eleven point favorite, and when you look at
Monday's game, Old Miss right around a touchdown favorite, that
number leaking up over to seven and a half. But
you'll see a ton of line movement between now and
kickoff as we figure out exactly what these teams may
or may not be when they hit the field for
real and early September, Hey, Todd, are you guys, is
Vegas gonna tip us off on what Aaron Rodgers is
(01:03:47):
gonna do for the opts out is all of a
sudden that Lin'm gonna move like crazy? Or Vegas is
just as cool as as everybody else is on what
he's going to do. You know, they're kind of in
a guessing pattern, like like everyone else right now. If
oddsmakers knew, you wouldn't see the Denver Brown goes priced
around thirty to one, you wouldn't see the Green Bay
Packers with such short odds in the NFC or listed
his favorites in the NFC North. So oddsmakers are not
(01:04:09):
privy to any inside information. Uh, they'll watch and comb
their Twitter timelines for the likes of Adam Schefter, of course,
Jake Glazer, you know, Ian Ravenport, et cetera, trying to
see when that news break, and they'll do everything they
can to try and protect their assets when that information
gets made public, or you could just bet to toward
the France and hold up the sided. What an idiot
that lady is that you just see that thoughtle goodness
(01:04:30):
for created quite created quite the bottleneck. And apparently that
fan was able to get out of France and kind
of disappear, I know, disappear into the shadows, if I
believe her native Germany, if I read the story correctly.
But it's one of those things that we do want
fans back, but we don't want fans to be a
part of the actual on field activity. Love it, good man, Todd,
have a great week, but we always appreciate you. Always
(01:04:52):
a pleasure, guys. Love my guy, Todd Ferman, Love him,
Love him Live from Vegas at the Board podcast, Go subscribe,
Follow Todd on Twitter at Todd Ferman. A very interesting
quote from one of the more opinionated dudes in the
NBA on who's now the best team left in the
NBA playoffs. We'll get to that next, but first, Steve
(01:05:12):
di Sega, with everything going on in the world of sports,
what's up? Steve? Chris Middleton was what was up in
the fourth quarter to the Milwaukee Bucks? What a period
of basketball and a Game three victory for the Visitors.
They lead the NBA East Finals two games to one
after the win at Atlanta one thirteen, one oh two.
Chris Middleton at thirty eight points tonight. As I mentioned
earlier on the show, he scored twenty in the fourth quarter.
(01:05:34):
The Hawks as a team had seventeen jantie A Tenakupo
thirty three points on free throws with them counting to
ten and beyond. He was six of thirteen on the
so called free throws. Drew Holiday for the winners twelve assists,
one turnover. Holiday was two of eleven from the floor.
Middleton more than made up for that in the fourth
quarter and Chauncey Billips Clippers assistant first year Clippers assistant,
(01:05:57):
will be Portland's new head coach. News conference on two day,
Harris English won the Travelers on the eighth playoff hole
after a final round sixty five. The tour record for
a sudden death playoff is eleven holes. The tour says
the ninety nine Motor City Open ended when the two
guys that were in the playoff were just declared co
winners of the event by mutual agreement due to darkness.
(01:06:20):
Four other events have reached an eighth playoff hole, and
then there was this. Brooks Kapka did move up to
a tie for fifth place after shooting sixty five. Bubba
Watson had a chance to win this shot seventy three,
following to a falling to a tie for nineteen. Nelly
Korda took the women's p G A and now has
the number one world ranking. She turns twenty three next month.
(01:06:41):
Kyle Busch won the NASCAR race today at Pocono. Kyle
Larson finished in second. Tonight in St. Louis, the Olympic
Gymnastic Trials finished up Simone Biles the all around winner again.
She'll head to Tokyo with a US team that A
p says the American women will be heavily favored to
win a third straight Olympic title. As a team. Biles
at the Real Olympics five years ago, earned five medals total. Meanwhile,
(01:07:06):
in Major League Baseball at Dodger Stadium, l A was
a seven one winner over the Cubs. Dodgers led six
nothing in the second inning. Zach McKinstry of l A
hit a grand slam bottom of the second and Cody
Bellinger lasted a two run homer. The Dodgers will host
the first place Giants on Monday and Tuesday nights. Giants
lost at home today to Oakland six two O six
nothing in the ninth. The winning picture Cole Urban through
(01:07:26):
eight scoreless innings with eight strikeouts. San Diego a five
four winner over Arizona thanks to three runs in the
bottom of the seventh. Arizona had just scored three on
the top of the seventh. The same to a guy
who clearly will be an All Star this year, Mark Mullans,
and the Padre closer leads the majors with twenty four saves. Here,
we're not quite to the halfway point of the season.
His e r A is one point eight five. And
(01:07:48):
I mentioned this on the show last night. It's still
a tough sport to make the playoffs in it's just
the three division winners plus the two best of the
rest in the wild card game, and right now that
wild card game would be Padres at Dodgers one game.
Either the Padres or Dodgers as it stands now, could
(01:08:10):
be out of the postseason after one game, and as
of right now, the Cubs would not make the playoffs
in the National League, and the Yankees would not make
the playoffs in the American Yankees lost again at Boston,
nine to two. In fact, the Red Sox went six
and oh against the Yankees this month. Raphael Devers with
a three run homer in the first. Milwaukee won it's
fifth in a row, five nothing over Colorado. The Brewers
(01:08:32):
are first in the NL Central now three games over
the Cubs. Back to you, thanks Steve. It's Arnie and
Plank on Fox Sports Radio. Bubbo on the Wheels of Steel.
Leader Lap hooked us up with not only Todd Ferman,
but man, we had a really good NBA guess back
an hour number one that is well worth your follow
on Twitter. Spencer Davies at Spin Davies on Twitter, and
(01:08:52):
we've got by ourself coming up next hour. But I
found this to be rather interesting from one Charles bar
just moments ago, stinking genius. Now perhaps you've heard of him.
Former Phoenix Okay, Phoenix un Philadelphia's heavy Okay hold on
Charles Barkley in the middle of the game, in the
(01:09:15):
middle of a bat Wait what while he was playing?
That's right, because you were in Phoenix whenever he was
he was in Phoenix, and I was in Phoenix, and
I was I was at the game with Steve Levy, uh,
and I was trying to show off a little bit.
We were in the front row and it was a
preseason game, and I just said, why don't you play
defense for once in your life? Charles? And he goes,
you can go like like yourself. Man, Now do you
(01:09:40):
have a positive experience with any former I feel like
every single time it's someone wanting to fight you, chasing
you out of a gym. If I think so. Anyway,
Charles Barkley, who once told Arnie to go bleep himself
and who was on the TNT post game show, just
said this moment ago, the Milwaukee Bucks, no disrespect to
(01:10:04):
my Phoenix Suns, are the best team left in the
NBA playoffs. I saw that, BS. So you're not so
if we were doing a rather early edition here of
buy or Sell staking genius, you're not buying that right now.
Now that that's ridiculous. Um. Matter of fact, until today's game,
(01:10:25):
you had some serious doubts even though they collaborative been
game number two. The Sons look phenomenal, and the Sons
did it without Chris Paul. Yes, Kauai is out, but
the Sons have looked good all the way around. I
think the Sons are the best team left in the
in the playoffs. I do too. In fact, I know
that you. I know Aaron and I the last time
I did the Sunday Night Show two weeks ago. Um,
(01:10:46):
Aaron's been big on thinking that Chris Paul was worthy
of the m v P over joke at or anyone else.
And I'll tell you what, in just what this Phoenix
Suns team has done with his leadership is pretty damn impressive.
So uh And by the way, I dig the fact
that a guy like DeAndre Ayton is becoming a difference maker.
I mean, aren't you know a lot about him watching
(01:11:06):
him play whenever he was in college. I mean, this
dude has become a big time difference maker for the Sons.
He's been phenomenal. I mean, the guy has been out
of control. And the fact of what he's shooting, great
field goal percentage, because when you're getting dunks and he's
like that, um, you're certainly gonna shoot. And Plus defensively,
he's so much better defensively than I ever gave him credit.
(01:11:27):
For um than he was in Arizona. So he's single
handed with not single handly, but he's done a great job,
there's no doubt about that. Yeah, it's been really fun
to watch. So tomorrow night game is five in that series,
Sons looking to wrap it up against the Clippers, up
three games to one, and of course tonight business was
taken care of by the Milwaukee Bucks in the fourth quarter.
(01:11:48):
Though I'm you're not ready to go ahead, And I'm
just gonna say one thing about DeAndre eight No, I mean,
I'm still hoping he gets to Team USA, even though
it's not a USA citizen. But you know that they
that's that's what Jaylen Rose wanted, so good good for that.
We'll see what happens. I think my favorite part of
the Jalen Rose take from this week it was not
(01:12:08):
only that he was winning guys that aren't UH citizens
American citizens on the team, but then his complaint was
basically washed away from a team that was exactly what
he was complaining about four years ago, right two thousand sixteen.
Team I just don't forget about that. So that was
(01:12:28):
just a knucklehead comment by him. I'm surprised he has
enough backtracked on that. No, and he won't, but so
were worst comment Jalen Rose complaining that Kevin Love was
on the Olympic team because they didn't want an all
black Olympic team whenever it's happened what three times in
the last twenty years? Or Chip Carey saying that some
dude that came into the game was the only major
(01:12:49):
league player who has ever had a name that ended
with a letter X. For there's like seven thousand people,
including some dude named Greg Maddox whose name is in
the letter ACT. Not too shabby. A couple of these
quick tweets before we get out of here, U c
l A Dodger Frank writes, I mean, with all due respect,
is sir Charles who hasn't told Arnie to go blank himself?
(01:13:10):
That is fair? That is fair. I have to agree
with that. Also, Uh, maybe I missed it. The Mason
Maller writes, but it's been forty eight hours and two shows,
and you guys have yet to find one guest or
someone on social media who agrees with Arnie's take on
the NBA playoffs must be lonely on that island. You
(01:13:34):
agreed with me and too. You can't. It's just ridiculous
to think that you're enjoying the playoffs more. Um when
superstars like Kauai and Harden and um, you know, Chris
Paul was hurt and Kyrie and Lebron and that's just
that's just you keep moving the goal post on this
take number one. I agreed with you if you thought
(01:13:55):
the playoffs sucked after watching the fourth quarter of that
game last night. Now when you're trying to say, well,
it would be more entertaining, no, no, no, you're trying
to say that this whole run stinks and that everything
has just been for you, uh, Netflix and chill time
as opposed to watch the NBA playoffs or I don't
even have Netflix. Would it be read a book and
(01:14:15):
have some momile time. No, I won't. I won't read
a book. But my my thing is this. It's also
not only because of the um cities still left in it.
I mean, yes, l A, but it's the Clippers. It's
it's also the blue bloods, the big names out there,
and you're just not seeing it. Yeah. Could you imagine
if the game ended today and it was the Lakers playing,
and it was Anthony Davis a many boards that what
(01:14:35):
did you see what Lebron had? I mean, the Twitter
would be going crazy, um over what it's doing right now.
It's not it's night and day comparing those two two
type of teams. Well, again, I don't disagree that people
would be losing their mind, because we lose our mind
if Lebron James shows up at a school opening to
find a problem with him in some way, shape or form.
(01:14:57):
But I also don't think that means that these playoffs suck.
I really don't. I think it's been incredibly entertaining. But
we'll continue to debate. I'm not going to change your mind.
I'll go back and forth and we'll see if we
can't find some people that agree with you on Twitter.
At Stinking Genius one, I'm a Plank show. Everybody should
be following us At Fox Sports Radio. All right. When
we come back, We've got much more, including a trip
through the locker room from tonight's game. Steve De Sager
(01:15:20):
has more updates and Buy or Sell right around the
Corner with Arnian Plank on Fox Sports Radio. Sarnian Plank
on Fox Sports Radio with Leader Lap, the Man on
the Mix, Bobo and Steve de Sager who joins us
to make sure we're not missing anything tonight. We gotta
we gotta mind our p's and queues. What's going on?
(01:15:41):
To segar Well, I mentioned we've had Olympic Trials going
through the weekend in St. Louis with gymnastics and Simone
Biles yet again all around champion. There, we have track
and field trials still continuing at the University of Oregon
and Wes it's still going at this hour. Absolutely. Ryan
No mentioned on yesterday's show from Portland that the Northwest
(01:16:03):
temperatures have just been astoundingly high through the weekend. So
they had the four hurdles just a few minutes ago,
and a world record has been set by an American
at the U S trials, Sydney McLoughlin. Congratulations. But they
were due to have afternoon events, but with the temperature
reaching a hundred and eight, the P A. G. I
came out of the stadium and said actions being suspended,
(01:16:25):
please evacuate. So they just resumed things about an hour
and a half ago in Eugene, Oregon, which had a
listed high temperature of one twelve record. This is Oregon
for yes, so go figure anyway in Major League Baseball.
At Dodger Stadium tonight, Clayton Kershaw was sensational in a
seven one win over the Cubs, thirteen strikeouts in eight
(01:16:47):
innings of work, you knowing his playoff debut of last
postseason in the wild card game against Milwaukee at thirteen strikeouts.
This was the most in a regular season game for
him since. But the odd thing from stats inc He
struck out eleven different Cubs players in the last forty seasons.
The only other lefty to strike out that many different
players on the opposition when Brandy Johnson. He fanned eleven
(01:17:13):
different Montreal Expose one game, But it was a hundred
one pitches thrown seventy strikes for Clayton Shaw. He got
the win. This is the guy who had gone exactly
six innings in each of his last five starts. In
seven of his last eight starts, he went eight tonight.
Anthony Rizzu the Cubs left in the fourth inning with
lower back tightness. Kershaw at Wrigley Field last month lasted
(01:17:36):
one inning, shortest start of his fourteen year career. Slightly
better than that Tonight, and the Dodgers will host the
first place Giants on Monday and Tuesday nights. Giants finally
lost at home to the A's today six to two.
Padre shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. Had to go ahead double
Today five four. They beat Arizona. Tatiase with his sixteenth
stolen base of the season and he committed his seventeenth
(01:17:59):
air so around something was happening. Padre started you Darvish
no decision. He did have seven strikeouts in six in
things just one run allowed. Eventually, the Padres, with three
in the bottom of the seventh, won the game five four.
Now who has the most votes for next month's MLB
All Star Games? So far? It is Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Of Toronto. He's been phenomenal in the first half of
(01:18:22):
the season. In fact, in today's five to win against Baltimore,
he had a two run double that puts him at
sixty six r b I s already, which leads the majors.
He's batting three forty two. He leads the major leagues
in homers with Now the top three vote getters at
each position were announced today. Leading vote getter overall in
the National League, by the way, is Ronald cun You
(01:18:43):
of Atlanta. Houston has seven different players on this week's
finalist ballot. That's what's going on this week. You can
only vote for those top three so far at each position.
That's how we'll find out the starters, which will be
announced this Thursday night. The rest of the All Star
rosters won't be named until next Monday, which is July four,
by the way, and the MLB All Star Game will
(01:19:03):
be July on Fox TV and it'll be at Course
Field in Denver. Remember it's not in Atlanta this year,
it was moved and All Star Week there will be
only one game on that Thursday night, Boston at the Yankees.
Of course, I'm sure the Yankees will be that happy
against Red Sox. Undefeated against the rivals so far. In fact,
they beat Garrett Cole today nine to two. Garrett Cole
(01:19:27):
is looking good out there. He allows three homers the
first three innings at Fenway today. Glad to not paying
him a lot of money though. Yeah, it raises a
z r A to two point six six for the season,
but it was a Boston blowout today. Aaron Judge did
have a two run homer, but the Yankee offense and
the ball don't forget about that case for the Yankee
so offense. Uh, keep in mind on the MLB schedule
(01:19:49):
this year mid August, the Field of Dreams game in
Iowa on Fox TV Yankees versus White Sox on a
Thursday night August. The twelve coming up tomorrow College World's
Years best of three final start Mississippi State against Vanderbilt.
NASCAR was at Pocono all weekend today. Kyle Bush the winner.
Kyle Larson finished second in yesterday's race. There. Larson had
(01:20:10):
a flat tire on the final turn of the final lap.
This is the guy who had won the last four
weekends in a row. Kyle Bush yesterday finished second in
the Cup race after also finishing second in Saturday's Xfinity race.
He wonted Pocono today and on Fox TV. Brazil played
at Copa America One one was the tie against Ecuador,
(01:20:31):
but Brazil had already qualified for Friday's quarterfinals, so they
sat some starters. Argentina Ends group played tomorrow night on
FS one. Peru today eliminated last place Venezuela one to nothing.
And I mentioned this golf how it went to an
eighth playoff hole today the winner of the event earned
one point three million dollars a little more than that
(01:20:51):
compared to second place about eight hundred thousand, So the
difference on this one final hole was a half a
million dollars and Harris English one in the second longest
sudden death playoff in p g A history. My goodness, wow,
and as don't don't forget. We do have NBA tomorrow.
(01:21:11):
Of course, we had the Milwaukee Bucks we in in
the East Finals tonight. We have the West Final continuing
in Phoenix tomorrow night. Now, the Suns haven't been to
the NBA Final since was also the last time the
Montreal Canadians were in the NHL's final look at Stanley
Cup Final starts Montreal at Tampa Bay tomorrow night. Fat
(01:21:34):
Games one, two, and three will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday nights.
The Canadians coach says he expects to return from COVID
quarantine on Friday. He missed the last four games of
the Semis, but Tuesday is the NHL Awards show, so
busy week for that league. Love It got a trivia
question to think about during the top of the hour.
With the Mississippi State in the College World Series, championship series, aren't.
There's only three Power five schools who have never won
(01:21:57):
a team title in any sport. Mississippi State is one
of them. There's two others. We'll dive into it a
little bit next hour, and now we've got several, we've
got seven. We'll dive into the next on Fox Sports Radio.
Let's go, let's go. It's our final hour. It's already
(01:22:17):
in plank on Fox Sports RADI bubble making fun of
me having to go to the hospital this morning. Look
at that. Well, I am not making fun of you
having to go to the hospital. I am making fun
of you saying that you pulled a rib cage. There's
a different thing. You have a rib cage. How do
you pull your entire rib cage? You can? How much
(01:22:39):
pain was in for crying out loud? Okay, well, hey
put a band aid on it. You would have You
would have been crying in the corner. I probably would
have been. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna tell the story,
but I'm not gonna sit here and talk about how
tough I am. Forget at all I mean, but you
went through it. To go through it and drink enough water.
The only re is in. I went to the hospital
(01:23:01):
because I thought I was going to die. If that
wasn't a possibility, I probably would have just sucked it
up and been in pain all night, wouldn't arn'tye? By
the way, if you missed, you text me and told
me you went to the hospital for a hang note exactly,
He's been there a lot. Don't let him sell you
off as some tough Arney had to go to hospital
last night because he was experiencing pains, because you guys
(01:23:23):
were all over him on Twitter. Thankfully, his kidney stone passed,
he was released from the hospital, and here in plenty
of time? Is that is that one just out of curiosity?
Is that something where you send a note to the
boss man and you're like, hey, Scott, I just want
you to know I went to the hospital and I
had my kidney I had kidney stones that needed to
(01:23:46):
be removed, but I'm okay and ready to go. Is
that like some flex that you send the boss just
so they know what you're fighting through? But first of all,
maybe you didn't understand me. Um, there was nothing I
was doing and I wasn't so much. My wife had
that jud I'm gonna have to I'm gonna have to
tex Scotchapiro and told what's going on. I was in
no mood. I couldn't let me tell you something. If
I had to go through this again, I'm taking six
(01:24:08):
months off. That's how much pain I was in the
fact that it was. You know, once you're on morphine,
you're like, hey, do you want to go hiking up? Yeah,
let's go. I can do fifty. Let's do it. Now
you're feeling good. You feel so much better when they
give your morphine to take away the pain. So I,
like I said, if they sell that over the counter,
I may go buy something. Well, I've got some bad
(01:24:30):
news for you. They don't sell it over the counter.
It's not over the counter. Uh. And I think the
only way you'll ever get it again is if something
is just dramatically wrong with you. They gave me a
prescripture for oxy code code on, but I didn't fill
it because I passed my stone this morning. So I
couldn't believe. It was so small. It was like the
(01:24:50):
smaller than a pebble. I'm like, Oh, what kind of
grown man? Am I? I'm crumbling in tears over this
little thing in me? What is wrong with me. I'm
proud you aren't for fighting through and being here tonight
because there's a chance you told me I'm gonna get
another one. Well, if you keep drinking ginger rail instead
of ginger ale instead of water, then yeah, you probably are.
(01:25:11):
Are you an energy drink? I no, not energy, but
I don't drink enough water. That's drink water. Drink water.
You'll be good. Shouldn't be an issue, though, I uh,
I will say if you're if you're warning, if you're
a big soda slash mountain dew person or a big
energy drink, that's an issue you might have to deal
with at some point in your life. So and Arnie's
(01:25:35):
official recommendation is to not let it happen because it sucks.
All right, we got a lot to get to this hour.
We've got postgame audio coming up from the Milwaukee Bucks
win tonight over the Atlanta Hawks. We have an update
on Trey Young from Trey Young and is injured ankle,
and we got buy our cell coming up here in moments.
But I I said this a lot, Aren'tie to Well, first,
(01:25:56):
let me pay off my tease three power five schools
is we get set for the College World Series, and
I'm sure all of you are on the edge of
your seat four to reach the Championship Series, where you've
got Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, two teams that have played
quite a bit. You want me to get into my
game prep for this or no? Would you guys want me?
Three Power five schools have never won a national team
(01:26:19):
title in any sport. Now you say team title because
there might be I don't know, a national champion discus
throw or something. Men and women's are just men's, uh
any team sport. Three Power five schools have never won
a team title in any sport. One of them, Mississippi State,
is in a championship series starting. I guess you could
(01:26:42):
say tonight on the Central and Eastern time zones. You
want to take a guess on the other two? I
want drag off. The would be one of them, but
they have good women's basketball. But that's for some reason
came to my my mind. Retors does have a women's
basketball title. I knew that. The other two are Kansas
State in Virginia Tech, which is which is wild because
(01:27:07):
I think the closest Virginia Tech has come to a
national title is in football when they had Michael Yeah.
You think about some sports where you go, oh yeah,
they lost it the buzzer, or they lost in the
final four or whatever. I think Virginia Tech lost in
the championship game. Did they not whenever they were trying
to win a national championship in football? So, regardless of
how you feel about college baseball or this mess with
(01:27:29):
North Carolina State, there's a chance and one of the
three Power five schools that have never won a national
title in a team sport could finally get one this week.
What do you think about that whole NC State situation
and how that happened? What would you do if you
have to do it all over again? How would you
handle the whole situation? You let him play. I mean,
(01:27:51):
if if you're really you want to play, even with
the kids out of COVID too, you just say you
want to play. No, no, no, you go put you
go up with those guys in quarantine, and you take
care of him as you have all season long. You
go through your testing process. The thing that I found
to be pretty awful in this whole saga is that
the n C double A came out and said, well,
(01:28:11):
you know, the the health officials, the county officials or
whatever it was. They gave us a suggestion that we
we shouldn't play. And yet, in my opinion, I thought,
but you still have full stands and we don't know
how many people in the stands are are vaccinated. And
then that health department came out. It's like, we'll hold
on here, hold on here. We didn't say that they
(01:28:33):
shouldn't play. We said we would support whatever decision they made.
And here's the other thing. I mean, North Carolina State
only had like four or five guys maybe six that
weren't vaccinated. And Arnie, when that that game that was delayed,
You and I have funny story, guys, Arnie and I
we were actually on the phone when Kumar Rocker got
yanked off the and I thought it was I thought yeah,
(01:28:56):
and we were what's going on here? And we were
just shooting the breeze about something else, and next thing
you know, we're talking college baseball. But here's my big
frustration in all of it. They made all the players
who weren't vaccinated. That's why there was that delay, because
they took them all off the field for North Carolina State,
took them all back to get tested. That's why they
played with thirteen players, nine position players, four pitchers in
(01:29:19):
a picture that pitched on what would that be Friday
had only thrown like eight innings all season long. It
was crazy. You know, all those players and when got
tested that were unvaccinated, they were testing negative and so
they were trying to get back to the state even
like no, sorry, you can't play. So I have a
lot I have a big problem with that. I have
a big problem with the fact that it's like it
looks like it's eight total players that that were affected
(01:29:39):
by this. It just let it play. I mean, you
get to this point in the season. This isn't the
first round of the n C Double A tournament. I mean,
I still don't know what happened with v CU when
they didn't get to play against Story Again. This is
a chance to play for a national championship and you
take it from them because of what looks to be
seven eight players, And I just think that's ridiculous. You'll
let them play. Here's what bothers me. You have fifteen
fifteen thousand fans in attendance, none of them ever got tested,
(01:30:01):
but yet they're all sitting next to each other no mask,
and they're ready for the game to start. You have
a couple of guys on the team and you want
to go and stop the whole thing, which I find
that absolutely ridiculous. You know, when I said I went
to the hospital, your first reaction is, oh, my goodness,
is already okay? Is he gonna be able to do
the show? If I got hit by a car, you'd
say the same thing, Oh my goodness, is already okay?
Is is he at the hospital? What happened when when
(01:30:24):
Chris Paul got COVID? We didn't say, oh my god,
that poor guy. All he said was when's he coming back? Right?
We didn't say, oh my goodness, that poor guy got covid?
Um is he going to die? Is there gonna be
some effects? And I'm not saying there isn't some effects,
But the first answer we come to, the first question
we think about is when's he coming back. It wasn't like,
(01:30:44):
oh my goodness, how terrible it is. It's when's he
gonna be able to go play for the Phoenix Sun.
So you could tell we've moved past that point um
of seriousness. They probably shouldn't even been testing to be
honest with you, when it was all said done, Chris,
they should just move on with life. Well, and you know,
to to think that of the players who had tested positive,
(01:31:05):
it was four players who were vaccinated is very problematic
to me because yes, I understand there was a roommate
that listen, I don't want I could bore you guys
with details on this. This has been one of the
beats that I've been on this week. But I understand,
in the pantheon of what matters to sports fans, college
baseball just isn't in that like top five, even though
they're in a championship series. But a story like this,
(01:31:29):
when you have a team that's on the cusp of
not just playing in the tournament, arn't not just having
a chance to play in the postseason, to play a
game for a national championship. When they played without what
five starters in the game against Vanderbilt and brought the
winning run to the plate in the ninth inning, I
(01:31:51):
mean that shows you how good this team truly was.
So I just I just find it borderline criminal that
they couldn't come up with a situation. And yeah, I
know some would say, well you get vaccinated, it's not
a problem. Well, obviously not, because there were four guys
who were vaccinated that weren't a lot to play because
they tested positive. And I'm sorry and and I'm vaccinated.
(01:32:15):
So whenever I say this, this isn't someone that's like, oh,
stay away from vaccination. But when I said, athletes are
different breed with their bodies. You know, most of y'all,
I love you guys, and I'm glad you choose to
listen to our show. You're not athletes, so you don't
know what it might be like for them at that
level where they don't want to get side effects. They
worry about getting sick, and yes, contracting COVID would cause
(01:32:38):
you missing more games than maybe side effects from this.
But athletes and their bodies are different, and I'm not
gonna sit here and say, how dare they not get vaccinated?
They didn't know, they didn't want to, and so maybe
they were planning on when the season was over. It
bit them. It sucks. It shouldn't have been an issue.
If I'm a North Carolina State fan, I am pissed
(01:32:58):
beyond belief. But again, any I mean, it's just it's
kind of been part for the course. Unfortunately, during this pandemic.
You know, they say, well, you can't make people get vaccinated. Um,
And I don't think this is the CDC recommends this.
I don't think this is a law. But a lot
of schools um say you need to what your measles,
your mom's your rebella um to send your kids to school. There,
(01:33:19):
we we don't think twice about it. We go ahead
and we vaccinate our kids. At least most people do.
Some sometimes there's some anti vaxxers there, but um, we
do that with no problem. So I'm I'm wondering, why
is this become a major problem not getting the vaccine?
But I guess somebody else. But listen, we could get
into the whole anti vaxx conversation. That's not what we're
trying to do. I'm just saying for those who had
(01:33:39):
pointed out of players, oh they should have done it sooner.
They didn't want to. And and we don't know anyone's backstory,
you know, we just really don't, and we don't know
how maybe some things have affected them in the past.
And you also look at some guys that maybe heard
from a friend that got sick whenever they got the vaccine.
And they don't want to resist. So I'm not sitting
here pointing a finger in North Carolina State for saying,
(01:33:59):
how dare you? But you're right, Arnie, and I think
we're getting closer and closer to that point, especially as
we inch towards college football, where it's going to be
more of a requirement, well more of they they can't
tell you that you have to get it, but you're
gonna play unless you have a pre existing conditions, like,
for instance, there's a player for Oklahoma, Arnie, who has
a blood clot problem and it's kept him out of
(01:34:20):
a season. He missed a season. That's probably not a
guy that's gonna race and get that vaccine just because
of some of the concerns. So we just don't know
what all that. You know what they could have done also,
Chris is, Yeah, they canceled the game, but they could
have just instead of canceling that postponed it for a
little bit, and then instead of playing the best of
three for the finals, they could have made that winner
take all, and that would have brought them some extra
(01:34:42):
days if they wanted to do that. But I don't
think they had any you know, I wish they would have.
I wish they would have. And you know what, it's
kind of hard because you want to sit back and
say the other team should have stepped up, right. Maybe
it was a situation where Vanderbilt should have said, we're
not gonna play unless they are given an opportunity to
see what their numbers look like after a day our
Texas or Mississippi State. But that's just that's not reality.
(01:35:03):
That's not gonna happen. So listen, it's a fascinating and
heartbreaking story. If you guys want to dig a little deeper.
I retweeted an article on my timeline at Plank Show
from Kendall Rogers d one baseball dot com. But Arnie,
I think this is gonna be a story that will
generate a lot of national talk. And it's even more
frustrating that the news drop at one oh five am
(01:35:25):
on a Saturday night. I mean, that's just that's just
what are we doing? Why are we doing that? I
mean I understand they were coming back out of a
rain delay, but Arnie, one oh five a m. On
a Friday night into a Saturday morning. You know, it's interesting,
you said, what do you asked? Todd Ferman what about Vegas?
What do they do? Dave Portnoy bet, I don't know
how much money, but he bet NC State at twelve
(01:35:45):
to one to win the whole thing, right, But obviously
he's not gonna win that now. But I'm sure you
put a lot of money on that. Well. And then
Dave k l president A came out today and said
that they were going to refund all bets that were
made on North Carolina State, which which is kind of
cool that they're doing that, but it would also lead
you to believe that it might not be a lot
of bets. All right. Before people get mad at me
for talking college baseball too much, let me hit a
(01:36:08):
couple of tweets as we shift our focus back to
the big story tonight, the fact that the Milwaukee box
rolled in the fourth quarter and that Arnie finally has
some people that are agreeing with him on the plays.
Bradford writes, I agree with you, Arnie. The injuries have
compromised the playoffs. And I don't even know how that's
even a debate. That's not that's not but here here again,
(01:36:32):
and I'm making this point clear for those that have
been fighting with Arnie, this is already moving the goal
post because nobody, nobody is saying these are the greatest
and in the in the top notch. Everyone understands that
injuries have made a major issue in these playoffs, right,
and they may maybe even more with Trey Young. The
thought is that it suddenly makes the playoffs suck is
where I disagree and a lot of other people do. Uh.
(01:36:54):
Here's another one. This one, This one kind of lays
out a little bit more of a little bit more
on the actual game itself. In it rights, I agree
with you two on the Suns. If the Bucks played
the Suns, it wouldn't be close. DeAndre Ayton is carrying
the Suns defensively and he can rebound. See that's a
little bit more on the game, right, a little bit
(01:37:15):
more on the game. And and Colin. Somebody said in
that Colin says the same thing Um when he talks
about college football, say it was like Central Ford against
Boise State. That was Steve Um that said it wouldn't
be it would be a ratings bust if they had
something like that. Who cares it was a ratings bust?
Did no of fence to Colin, But it was a
(01:37:36):
ratings bust. This year, it was down and it was
Alabama Ohio State. It was one of the least watch
national championship games ever. And you don't get many bigger
names in Alabama and Ohio State playing for national championship.
I'll tell you what, You're never gonna get to that point,
even with the twelve team playoff. I don't think you're
ever gonna get to that point. But if you do,
(01:37:58):
I think we'd all be surprised by how big of
deal it was. I mean, could you imagine if you
were able to watch a Michael Vick play in a
championship game with Virginia Tech, uh and rolling through the playoffs.
That's Virginia Tech. I mean, listen, they're a Power five school.
But you don't think people would be losing their minds
to watch that? Come on, man, I just this whole
idea that you've got to be from New York or
(01:38:19):
l A or you've got to be Alabama or Ohio
State for people to care about you. I just I
don't buy it. Good is good. We want to be entertained.
Arnie's right. I mean, my gosh, I don't need to
watch a Tom Hanks movie to love it. I don't know.
I can watch Artie langon beer Lea and I can
love it because I love that movie. Let's just hope
with Kansas City plays Tampa, both Mahomes and Tom Brady
(01:38:41):
camp play. Is that your super Bowl pick? Again? But again? Arnie,
do you think that Kansas City is going to the
Super Bowl of Patrick Mahomes isn't playing? No? Not? Okay,
there you go. I mean they're not there. Then you'll
have another team. Then you might have Derek Carr in

It's Arnian Plank on Fox Sports Radio, Bobo on the
(01:39:24):
Wheels of Steel, lead a Lap hooking us up producing
the show to night Steve Siger coming up with an
update here in about five minutes from now. Trey Young
post game Arnie, after getting deemed up in the Bucks
come from behind one oh two, win, talked about trying
to get back after at least try and I got
(01:39:45):
out there and I hit my first three and then
this it's like everybody feels like I should be out
there and keep keep fighting at least thing. Um, so
that's to me. I just try to do is keep fighting. Meanwhile,
head coach and Nate McMillan, I mean, there was one
thing that was pretty obvious. Atlanta really struggled offensively when
Trey Young went out of the game. I think when
he returned to the floor he was obviously limping on
(01:40:09):
that and um, when I subbed him, we decided to
just keep him out. So I think you've already into
this series, right, regardless of what happens with Trey young
Er over I was, I was a little surprised what
they did. I'm surprised they took one game up there
in Milwaukee, but now the Milwaukee is up to one
and they seem the um with Middleton emerging, and they
(01:40:32):
clabored them in game two. Yeah, I think the series
is over, e R. I think it's gonna be Milwaukee
and the Suns, And congratulations to the Suns for winning
the NBA Championship. I think that's the way it will
end up. Janice and Chris Middleton are the first pair
of teammates to each record thirty points and ten rebounds
in three games within a single post season, and Middleton
(01:40:53):
is the first What is the first Bucks player with
twenty points in a fourth quarter of a playoff game
over the last post seasons? The Kareem No The only
other Bucks player with twenty points in any playoff quarter
over the last twenty five post seasons. Chris Middleton. He
did it last year, which was wow. But again that's
(01:41:13):
only going back twenty five years, so maybe Cream is
in that mix. But Chris Middleton is happy with him.
I'm proud of myself, you know, no matter what. Um.
You know, second round pick, working my way into Rotasian Africa,
traded um to meet. That's some wins. So every time
I'm out there, I played with pride. Doesn't matter if
I played played well, um I played bad. I know,
I'll give him, give him all out there. Um, that's
(01:41:35):
why I'm most proud about Olympian Olympian Chris Middleton. Uh
and then your honest, what Eliso did was it was
digging unbelievable. Carted the team at the end, you know,
being able to like he turned the ball over like
two times, and after that he was like luck think
he was like passing the ball and we were giving
the ball, you know, and uh, I'm talking to past
(01:41:56):
that this moment is that you know, we know one
just says names for him and know when he wants
the boy. And then that was the moment we were
like get the hit out of the way and giving
the ball, take us home, Chris. And that's what he did.
Pretty pretty dominant, Pretty Chris. I just want to say
you because those guys, especially middle To, that such a
great game. But Portess only played seventeen minutes and he
(01:42:16):
had fifteen points. That was a big part of of Milwaukee,
so he kind of gets overshadowed with the two big
out there. Oh I that's a great point, Aren'tie. And
I think whenever we were talking about this earlier in
the show, whenever Spencer Davies joined us that bench for
the Bucks when they came in, they brought some juice.
You know, they're they're diving after loose balls. Uh. Pat
(01:42:40):
Connaughton there he's he's out there pomping a side. Dude.
He played thirty two minutes tonight, which is insane. And
I'm not a big plus minus guy, but okay, thirty
two minutes plus twenty five insane. That's why I said
Portis but having the fifteen points and seventeen he was
what seven? Yeah, so they didn't go deep in their bench, right,
(01:43:05):
But man Aarnie, the two guys in Portis and Connatent, man,
they when they were out there, they were difference makers. Yes,
you know, I understand that Budholzer gets crushed all the
time because how there you not want to title with
with the honest, But tonight he pushed all the right
Well again, you had a guy go off for twenty
points in the fourth quarter. That helps a lot in
Chris Middleton. But they pushed all the right buttons tonight
(01:43:27):
and they got these two more wins. Isn't it funny
just about to say, we're talking about a dude whose
team is in the Eastern Conference finals and he needs
two more wins? Are he's probably going to be fired.
I agree, totally agree. He needs two more wins to
(01:43:47):
save his job. Um, yes, to get to the NBA Finals.
Otherwise they're gonna can him. Unbelievable. All right. Anyway, there
is a quick synopsis from what happened tonight post game
wise between the Bucks and the Hawks. Discover matches. All

kidney stone four in the morning, Arnie still has his
picks ready for you, y'all. That's what you call a gamer.
But before we get there, Steve de Seger with everything
going on in the world of sports, one final time tonight.
What's going on, Steve? Well, we had Game three of
the NBA's East Finals in Atlanta tonight and the Hawks
were leading Milwaukee with about seven minutes left. And then
(01:44:52):
only scored seven points the last seven minutes of the game.
Milwaukee takes at one one oh two. Bucks are up
two games to one. Game four is Tuesday. Chris Middleton
thirty eight points twenty in the fourth quarter. Janice as
tennant Compo scored thirty three points, Trey Young at thirty
five and defeat left briefly with a sprained ankle. Bogdan
Bogdanovich of the Hawks three of sixteen shooting from the floor,
(01:45:13):
and Cam Reddish did not play, by the way. The
West Final continues tomorrow night in Phoenix. Suns up three
games to one against the Clippers. Kawhile Leonard will be
out again with the spray knee, and Clippers first year
assistant Chauncey Billips Tuesday will officially become Portland's new head
coach on a reported four year deal plus an option.
Penny Hardaway interviewed for the Orlando head coach opening. According
(01:45:34):
to The Athletic, he's a former player their current University
of Memphis coach. In tennis, Wimbledon begins in the morning.
The Stanley Cup Final starts tomorrow Montreal at Tampa Bay.
Harris English won the Travelers on the eighth playoff all Today,
NASCAR win at Pocono for Kyle Bush. Simone Biles Tonight
at the Olympic Gymnastic Trials in St. Louis won her
twenty four straight all around title over the last eight years.
(01:45:58):
In soccer's Euro Tournament, Belgian eliminated Portugal one nothing, even
though Portugal outshot him twenty four to six. Next up
a quarterfinal against Italy on Friday. Italy is undefeated in
its last thirty one games. Check Republic upset the Netherlands
to nothing today with two goals in the second half
after a Netherlands red card. In baseball, tonight at Dodger Stadium,
(01:46:18):
l a seven one over the Cubs Clayton Kershaw with
thirteen strikeouts in eight innings. The Dodgers will host the
first place Giants on Monday and Tuesday nights. Giants actually
lost at home today six two to Oakland. Padres got
three in the seventh to beat Arizona five to four.
Seattle split a double header at the White Sox. Boston's
undefeated six and oh against the Yankees this month beat
(01:46:38):
Garrett Cole and the Yanks today nine to two. The
Angels were a six four winner at Tampa Bay, so
the Rays fall the second place in the AL East
half game behind Boston. What show hey Otani is doing
so far this season is just silly. He hit his
twenty five homer today, three hits, three r b i
s in this game, had an RBI triple in the
seventh solo homer in the This from stats Inc. In
(01:47:02):
American League history, only two players, Otani and Babe Ruth,
have had twenty five homers, at least ten steels or more,
and seventy five strikeouts pitching in their careers. Those numbers.
Otani has done all three already in half a season.
Wow Wow is correct? Detroit one on a tenth inning
(01:47:22):
squeeze bunt. RBI was he was gonna be a big
bust when he came to I was, I was gonna
mention that, but I was, Well, it wasn't long ago
where he had a spring training where he just couldn't
touch the ball at the plate. He had a big
loop in his swing and it just wasn't connecting with
the ball, and I'm thinking, how is this gonna work?
And then he's had he's ad outings on the mound
where he just couldn't throw a strike, So to put
(01:47:44):
it all together in this manner, it's not like he's
hitting three fifty or anything. It's just the combination of
things is really kind of amazing. Atlanta was a for
nothing winner at Cincinnati, and the Phillies won four two
at the Mets x met Zach Wheeler got the win
with seven scoreless innings strikeouts. Milwaukee won it's fifth straight
five nothing over Colorado. The Rockies road record now six
(01:48:05):
and thirty one. Meanwhile, the Brewers are first in the
NL Central, a full three games over the Cubs, Washington
and Max Schers. There a five one winner at Miami,
and there was a bad baseball injury today in Cleveland's
loss eight two at Minnesota Indians. Right fielder Josh Naylor
was carted off and hospitalized after a collision on a
fly ball, severe ankle injury. Bank to you, thanks, Steve,
(01:48:28):
have a great week, buddy. It's Arnie and Plank on
Fox Sports Radio. Let's hit some of your tweets before
we play a little buy or sell and get out
of here tonight. Are you good? Are you hydrated? Arnie?
Just drinking water while the singer was doing the update
I just wanted to make sure you're alive and you're well. Uh,
Bill Wrights spoiled NBA players these days, Damian Lillard will
(01:48:50):
get paid over thirty nine million dollars next year and
he has a problem playing for a new coach. Come on,
I play on Arnie's team for half for that. You
better believe people play on my team for less than
half of that. But yeah, he's getting thirty nine million
and obviously a lot more with the whole contract. Um,
I wouldn't make too much of a stink. But then again,
(01:49:10):
he's still gonna get that money no matter where he
goes or he gets traded. I'm a big Chris Hayes
guy of Chris Haynes guy. We tried to get him
on the show tonight. Unfortunately he couldn't come on. But
I'll say this there there's not a lot of meat
to this report, right and and again this Chris Haynes
very dialed in, tuned in guy to the NBA. But
(01:49:31):
I mean it's he's not happy with the hiring a
Chauncey Billups according to sources, and really that hard to believe.
I just think the wording of it seems a little
bit odd in in my world, because it's not even
that he's saying that Chris that that day Chris Paul
that Damian Lillard is truly upset. It's that it could
(01:49:53):
be something, according to sources, that could lead to him
asking for for a move, because if it's a lot
of generic and if I'm here, why wouldn't you go
to Twitter and saying there's no so truth to that rumor.
I don't know who came up with it, but it's
just completely BS and I'm very happy with the with
the hiring of Chauncy Billips. Wouldn't that be the way
to go? Or No, sure, especially now that you're in
(01:50:15):
a situation where so many members of teams can control
the message that they want. Uh. In his defense, he
hasn't tweeted in in over eleven hours, which I guess
you could say is about the time that this really
started to kind of pop. And as as we've learned, Arnie,
(01:50:36):
most of today's players are not scared at all to
let you know how they're feeling on social media, so
I think that's out there as well too. But good point.
Maybe it's something that he'll mention coming up here uh
soon or maybe not at all. On Twitter, Pete rights Arnie,
having had stones too, I can tell you all the
best things contribute chocolate, caffeine, strawberry. The best preventable besides
(01:51:04):
water is eight ounces of craneberry juice every three or
four days. Also good against you ties. That's what I
was drinking today, cranberry. That's what they told me at
the hospital to drink. Patricia writes Arnie, I had kidney
stones once, and the pain was worse than giving childbirth.
It's the smallest thing with the bigger pain. Drank more
(01:51:26):
water every day. That will keep you from getting them,
know what? He notice how I knew it was more
painful than childbirth. I don't know how I knew it,
but I knew it. Pete again with a double shot
from San Roman, California, Rights, I'm tired of Lebron James
and the other old farts, and I'm digging the young guns,
Trey Collins, Red Velvet, d Booker and eight and go Terps.
(01:51:50):
And there is quite a bit of a Maryland influence
to this. But see, that's why I've been trying to
sell you this for like three or four years, and
you're just not ready to actually one of my talking
about like five six, seven years where the young talent
that we have today. Sure, we could sit here in
debate who's a Hall of Famer and who isn't? And
are we having few more Hall of Famers that are
(01:52:10):
playing now than we did, you know, twenty years ago? Whatever.
I just I think there's great talent in this league,
aren't you. You know there's a difference between great talent
and the next generation. You know we talked about there's
difference between being rich and then super uber rich where
you can afford a team. Um, you know, I look
at we had Michael, we had Kobe, we had Lebron.
(01:52:30):
I don't see anybody ready to take over after that.
There is nobody else. No Janice isn't gonna have a
name like that, Um Kauai, Trey Young. There's not gonna
be a big face of the league like those three
guys were. There's no Magic Johnson, there's no Larry Bird. Um,
there's nobody bigger or almost bigger than the game like
those guys were. We're not gonna have that. I mean,
(01:52:53):
you don't think Kevin Durant can be that guy. He's
he's a great player, probably the best in the league.
But I don't think he's as polarizing as the guy
they just gave you. Oh wow, Okay, we gotta move on.
I think he's the most polarizing guy in the NBA
right now, the Mason Muller rights. Oh my gosh, did
does Seger say during one of his updates that the
Cubs and the Yankees would not make the playoffs if
(01:53:13):
it were held today? Don't tell Arnie that, or he
would want Major League Baseball to just shut down the
season before the playoffs start because nobody would watch without them.
Let's let's just have the no name teams in there.
That's so much better. I'm gonna love that more. Let's
not have the Yankees in there or anything like that.
Let's not have the Dodgers in there. Um, let's try
(01:53:35):
to get the Orioles in there or you know, the
Oakland A's and enjoy that. We'll see how many how
many people like that? Well? Again, do you like baseball? Yes?
Do you like? I mean? Do you does it always
have to be the Yankees and Red Sox for you
to enjoy it? Well? Why do you think the Red
Sox and Yankees are always on TV? So many times
because we don't enjoy it because they're good usually. That's
(01:53:56):
why in fourth place now this year, this year, I mean,
the Yankee are not very good at all. But I'm
just again, it's a rivalry, it's tradition. ESPN crams it
down our throats. So I mean, I'm surprised that we
haven't had to talk about the Red Sox and the
Yankees nonstopped and I thankfully Boston wanted nine to two
and then two more quick ones. Um. I like this,
(01:54:18):
Lou writes Chris. Only a coincidence that the only two
teams not missing a major star in the finals, the
Son's eighty four points, by the way, where the lowest
wind score of the year. Well, and again, Chris Paul,
what what did he miss? Game one with the the
COVID issues and game one end game two okay? And
then had the shoulder issue in Game one of the
(01:54:40):
Lakers series but ended up bouncing back from that. Uh.
And then you kind of look at the Bucks and
they've been able to maintain their health. So that's actually
a pretty fair point that was brought up. And uh
and by the way, nature boy, going back to earlier
circling back around, Arnie, You're absolutely right, these playoffs sucked.
I wanted to throw up watching the two teams yesterday
(01:55:03):
trying to score in the fourth quarter. And I don't
blame you for wanting a ten, especially since you were
so close to thinking it was the end yesterday. Go ahead, Bobbo.
I'll just find it amazing that people want to say
the NBA Finals suck because of one game. Where you
do have playoff games in the NFL that are completely
blown out, are completely lopsided, and no one says a thing,
(01:55:25):
and they just say, oh my god, it was such
a good game. Well, what's the difference? Well, and that's
like Arnie, And again, as we talked about earlier, there
were some stinkers in the playoffs and the games played
between the Celtics and the Lakers, in the games played
between the Celtics and the Pistons, the not all those games,
a lot of roles, a lot of Michael Jordan's games
were I mean, he didn't win for a long time
(01:55:45):
when a game right, right, So I just I think
sometimes we only remember the great, which is what I think.
I think most of the time, what we remember is
when we pull a rib cage. I think that's what happened.
We get kidney stones and see, how about do you
think I'll remember? I never get it, But I'm never
gonna not bring up this poor rib Kate situation. I'm sorry,
(01:56:06):
I'm glad I told you the rest of the show.
I'm gonna find a way to get it in like
it took. It took some finesse and for this last break,
and you got your picks coming up next. I'm hoping
somehow you bring this into your picks. But you know, hey,
we'll see what happens. Keep the tweets rolling even when
we're off the air at Plank Show. That's me, It's
stinking genius one. That's Arnie, And of course everybody should
(01:56:27):
be following us at Fox Sports Radio when we come back.
Final segment Artie's picks to take us home right here
on Fox Sports Radio. Alright, final segment for us Arnie
and Planning from Fox Sports Radio before Big Ben takes over.
I'm sure that it will be very heavy on the Clippers,
bouncing back from great job tonight by Bubbo on the

Wheels of Steel, keeping us updated on all the hopping
tunes thanks to lead a Lap for the great guest
list that we had tonight. In fact, if you missed
any of our great guests, including Todd Ferman and I
don't know how you feel, Lonnie, who are you, Arnie, Lonnie, Annie, whatever,
but I really thoroughly enjoyed having the conversation that we
(01:57:14):
did back in our number one with Spencer Davies. You
can find that on our podcast if you subscribe through
my Heart and the I Heart Radio app simply searched
Fox Sports Radio Weekends Hours will be the first pod

Seger on updates all night long and the millions and
(01:57:36):
millions of editors behind the scenes bringing us all the
highlights post games sound that we got to here this evening.
So we have one little tidbit to take care of
before we get out of here. Arnie through kidney stones,
through us, through a night's stay in the hospital, take
it away, steaking genius out of the hospital. Was I
kild not have the suthingy go by without my picks?
(01:57:58):
Will give me a little music, put me in the mood.
I got about five of them, and we start with
Milwaukee in Atlanta. UM in this series is oh V
e r. Atlanta had their chance. If they would have
pulled it out, it would have been holding different. But UM,
obviously Trey Young was hurt. Milwaukee made that run. They're
up two games to one. They'll probably win this UM
(01:58:19):
without losing another game and win this four games to
one over Atlanta, So the Hawks are now donezo. In
that one, the Suns and the Clippers, that one is
also oh V e er UM. The Suns will win
the next game, they'll win it in five, and they'll
win it back home in front of the crowd they'll enjoy.
Going to the finals will be the Suns and Milwaukee,
(01:58:39):
and the Sons will beat Milwaukee in six to win
the NBA Championship. By the way, Chris, we can't forget
about a little Stanley Cup hockey because I'm mostly to
Montreal beating Tampa. Montreal just about an hour and a half,
about an hour and fifteen minutes from my house. Would
love to go up there, except of course the borders closed.
But Montreal, what a surprise. Remember they were down three
(01:59:03):
one to Toronto and bounced on back. They're just been
playing unbelievable. Carrie Price and Gold give me Montreal over
tap up, and I'm gonna give you a little World
Series baseballs you brought up earlier. I'm gonna take Vanderbilt
over Mississippi State in uh two out of the three.
Obviously it's a three game step though. I kind of
(01:59:23):
wish Mississippi State wins after you gave me that stat
But it'll be Vanderbilt with that great pitching staff that
they have, Kumar, Rocker, Jack Liner and and Nobody and
pray for rain. Now you have my picks. Do with
him as you please, no longer strictly for entertainment purposes only.
But Arnie Kumar pitched on Friday, So when can he
(01:59:45):
pitch again? He could pitch again. He pitched Friday, so Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday.
I would think he could pitch. You're gonna pitch him
on like three days rest. It's the champion. Well if
you want to. If you win the first game, then
you can wait till the fourth they rested. Pitch up
if you have to have three games, yeah, yeah, I
just I don't think they're gonna take that risk. I
(02:00:05):
think you see Jack lider Go in game one, and
I think Mississippi State's gonna beat him. Mr. We State
lit up Jack Lyder when they played him earlier this year.
And I know that he has fifteen strikeouts the other
day and that he's Outlieder's son, And that's probably what
of you actually know about college baseball. But I the
Bulldogs is gonna get him in game one, but I
think Dandy's gonna win the next two games alright. By
the way, congratulations to your Oklahoma Sooners for winning uh
(02:00:29):
the softball championships. So I don't think I've had chance
to congratulate, though I said a Texas, you never got
back to me. Well, honestly, I think my phone actually
blowed up. See this is what happens when you win
a title. Aren't a lotradulate you? And I'm probably not
going to reply to the person that probably trolls me
on every opportunity with Sooners, you stop it. I would
(02:00:54):
also say congratulations to you. Arnie Spanier on the fact
that the Arizona Wildcats this off season, after the hiring
of j Johnson as the new baseball coach, Arizona will
have new coaches in two In baseball softball, football, men's basketball, soccer,
and cross country and the two big ones. Right, you
(02:01:16):
got baseball. I'm sorry, uh me softball, but you've got
football min's hoops in there, so you've got the two
big ones anyway. So yeah, that's I'm looking for a
big season from from our football team this year. Keep
looking uh nature boy rights to get us out of here.
As a Giants fan, I would love to see a
one game wild card this year with the Dodgers and
(02:01:38):
the Padres, and have you Darvish get the start? If
he beat the Dodgers, there would be quite a few
upset fans in Los Angeles. That would be one of
those Lou Rights lou Riley good tweeter to the show.
Chris Johnson Billips news conference will be in Portland on
Tuesday because he's a Clippers assistant coach. If the clip
somehow went on Monday, I guess he won't be on
(02:02:00):
the Clippers bench on Tuesday. What happens. That's an actually
a really really good point, and then Mark writes, just
because there is parody in the NBA postseason with all
the key injuries, does not mean the games aren't good.
They have there have been some exciting games overall, of course,
(02:02:21):
the quality must suffer with some of the very best.
M I A. It's gonna suffer, Arenie. You're not gonna
have You're not gonna have great game after a great game,
when you're looking out there and you're like, is that
is that? Who was the rando that came out? Is
that Bobby Portis coming off the bench? Is he still
(02:02:41):
in the NBA? Yeah, the play is gonna suffer a
little bit, but I've loved it. You haven't. Yeoman's work tonight, Arnie,
Arnie span your passing a kidney stone last night, showing
up work with his hot takes tonight. Great job, Arnie,
for Lee, for Bobo, for Steven Seger. I'm Chris Plank
Big been his next right here on Fox Sports Radio.
