Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. Let's go. Let's go,
big boy, let's go. Let's go to a time. It's
till a time. I think you benched him about midway
through to a time. In fact, I was going back
to my text messages here, let's see. Uh yeah, this

(00:23):
is it. This was my personal favorite. He needs to leave.
That was a That was a text that I received
from Arny midway through the fourth course. What's the first
text I send you? What was the first text I
send you? Two was still sucks? No, the one that
says to his m v P. I don't think I
got that one. Oh yeah, okay. I want you to

(00:44):
follow follow this as we welcome you in to Arnie
and Plank on Fox Sports Radio, Fox Football Sunday. We're
pumped to be back as part of the Sunday night lineup,
and of course hopefully as the start isn't your eleven
the start the art of your week with everybody's most
anticipated football game, Raiders Ravens coming up tomorrow night. But

(01:07):
let's let's follow the trend of these uh texts that
I got from Martie. Because Arnie always sends me a
list thinks he wants to talk about. He's the boss.
Uh Miami super Bowl two m v P. That's when
the Dolphins got out to a seven. Nothing we need
on the first drive, right. Uh. Then I proceeded to
get the show topic sheet from him, which is always

(01:29):
written on a notepad and very very and barely legible handwriting.
Would you agree to leave a lap from being someone
that sees these tweets every so often? Our text from Marti,
No you didn't there you go nothing but Miami And
then the next text two it still sucks. Next one
he needs to leave because it was ted tedd at

(01:51):
aptime he was killing me. Do something for from crying
out loud? Who were you more angry at at that point?
Your Arizona Wildcats are two and I've I've given up
my by my wild seasons over for me. And in
college football, I'm not even gonna do college football picks.
Oh you're you're already retired. I'm done with that. I'm
giving up on college football. I noticed gascons in tonight,

(02:13):
so I gave the night off. I'm sure you did.
David's one of my favorites, so I need an official
ruling from not only Dave but also Lee in Bobo
Arnie last week made his picks on Sunday night. I
think Bobo Lee remember five and oh guaranteed never had
a better feel. He's seeing the future, right, So when

(02:34):
you make your picks on Sunday night, that's like place
in the bet, right if if you make your bet,
you make your pick on Sunday. If the line fluctuates,
I mean, can someone who gambled go back to the
casino and say, Hey, this line moved. I need my money,
I need my ticket. You know, I always say I
use Friday's MGM wines because things changed during the course

(02:56):
of the week. You're making me up picks a week
ahead of time, I will say, you make me zach gad. Now,
I have never ever heard you bring up the word MGM.
Ever when you've done like, and I'm being serious, i'd
back you if you wouldn't have said that. But you've
never seen put it out on Twitter right before. But

(03:20):
you can't put something on Twitter that you're gonna say
on the radio and expect the people on the radio
to go check your Twitter for five prints that I
picked the same teams. I just just the line because
there you can't. But you can't do that, the same
thing that that Chris just said, you can't go to
the You know what, I didn't mean hit, I mean
uh stand. So here's here's the funny part. Here's the

(03:44):
funny part for this clairvoyant. As you've seen last week,
we're talking about something guys that would change him from
two and three to one three and one. No, really,
I'd be three and three because I took the over
in the Tampa gave me, not giving me any credit
for that, you didn't. I went back and listened to
this segment that was when I gave out Friday. But
you gotta look at my Twitter account. My god, David, David,

(04:08):
I'm paying attention here. When you make your picks on Sunday,
that's it, right of course, go and suddenly add something
on Friday. You said these five picks, Claire voy and
in fact, I think you even bet your job on
going five. And it's like that saying in sales. If
it's not writing, it never happened. It wasn't writing, and
it happened. Listen, Chris. He does a great job during

(04:31):
the holidays to send the entire staff pancake mix and
also some syrup. I want to let you know that
I actually sent him some ky jelly out to Vermont
after what would happened last night with Sandy Stay in
Arizona because that dude had a lot of lube. Are
not gonna bug me out my Dolphins? One, it's to

(04:52):
a time we've quingched a division. I feel great today.
You're not gonna You're not bumming me. I'm telling you
that picks. Yeah, all right? If that good point? Suddenly
it's like, well, you know I did have the over.
How about you and I go up against each other?
Plan would do? With ten years? You've never gone up
against me in my picks? You're afraid? Okay, game on.

(05:13):
I'm down because I get to pick tonight since you
almost guaranteed that you were gonna go five and oh
so how about that? Every uh? And do I have
to do? Because you also were pretty incredible with your
two and three picks in college? To you, you went
with Notre Dame to destroy Toledo, which was horrific, Texas

(05:34):
and Arizona Arizonas. But I'm here for your winners. Congratulations
on Iowa and Michigan. I picked the Dolphins, did I not?
I picked the Dolphins. It was your that was your
technically one win. But listen, we're not here to fight
about your picks. That's coming up later on in this show.
We're here to recap week one. You can hit us
up on Twitter. The whole crew is here tonight at

(05:56):
Fox Sports Radio. Of course, Arnie and I have our
solo acts. He's at Stinking Gene this one. I'm at
Plank show Boy, and I know where this is going early,
So go ahead. What's your big takeaway? What have we
learned so far? By the way Sunday Night Football, the
Ramps have just gone left Lane hammer down. They're up
thirty four fourteen on the Bears at Chicago refuses to

(06:17):
play justin fields regularly. But what was some big takeaways
what we learned in Week one of the National Football League.
I guess I can start with that the Cincinnati Bengals
maybe for real. I like what they did. I was
in press day blue a lead, but they came back
and and or you know, they figured it out and overtime.
So I'm starting to think that maybe Cincinnati is the

(06:38):
real deal. And I've I've kind of underestimated them. Um,
you know what, Sam Donald enough for you, buddy, You're
supposed to beat the Jets by like five touchdowns. You
barely one. I was waiting for Sam Donald to be
some superstar today. He never really was. I'm starting to
think I've way made him overrated and he's never gonna

(06:58):
beat the guy thought he was. And by the way,
the Falcon is the worst team in the NFL or
what for crying out loud, Yeah, yeah, because the Eagles
were the worst team in the NFL last week. Hold on,
I'm not trying to jump on the Sam Donald bandwag,
but I did somehow end up watching a lot of
that game. He looked bad. He was all right, he
was all right. He really should have done a lot better.

(07:19):
He let's let's the three d yards against the Jensen.
Really he should have just buried Zach. You know, Jamis
Winston through for a hundred and forty eight. I know,
I know. Does that mean he sucked today? No, that's
not very the lead there you look great. Well, I
guess my my takeaway it's kind of interesting because we're
gonna do this all night long and hear from you

(07:39):
on Twitter at Sinking Genius One, at Plank Show, and
of course at Fox sports right by the way, I
do want to see this. I think Mac Jones looked phenomenal. Um.
I would give him Pubbi a B plus. He's got
to throw the ball more downfield. But he is so
Brady esque it's unbelievable. Hold on, whoa whoa whoa stopping
whoa whoa, whoa whoa, Marney, you just said something about

(08:00):
a member of the New England Patriots, well, former Alabama
player that I'm gonna think of it like that, So
you're not even gonna give him credit for thing. I'm
gonna pretend like he doesn't play for them, but he
did look good. I'm like, oh my god, this is
like mini Brady playing against us. If this guy somehow
leads unto the winning score, I'm gonna gonna I can't
go through another twenty years of him beat my team.

(08:22):
That's forty years of him and Brady. I I can't
do that. But you got you got the first round?
You got round one? Right? Did you? Did you like
my stat that I had? How about that stat? Um?
I stated up this morning. I was stat geeked this morning.
And because I'm officially an old man now, I gotta
pull out my reading glasses to read it for you
listen to this Bill Belichick. Bill Belichick was one was

(08:47):
twenty and one against starting quarterbacks aged twenty three or
younger inside Gillette Stadium to a Tonga Balla. Became the
youngest visiting quarter back to ever win at Gillette Stadium. UM,
and in doing so outduled his former college teammate, who

(09:07):
was the first rookie quarterback to start Week one under
Bill Belichick. So now quarterbacks twenty three years of age
and younger are now thanks to to A two and twenty. Yeah, yeah,
Tom Brady for that twenty and one record, Thank good,
thank you for that. Um, Tom Brady's out around anymore,
so you can take that stat and throw it out

(09:28):
the window. It's still Belichick though, and he won a
couple of them last year. Oh, he looked like he
was gonna blow his top. What three fumbles, eight pedal,
eight penalties or something like that. He looked like he
was going to lose his marbles. Too bad. They don't
have some really great quarterback, like maybe the best of
all time. Oh wait, that's still winning super bowls? Are?
They ran him out of town? But that's probably for
the best. They've got the backup for the next twenty years.

(09:50):
Here's the interesting thing to me, we just so sending
that football has just gone final. And I don't know
if I'm a prisoner of the moment here or what.
Oh my god, matt Stafford looked good in the RAM.
You know what, I demand that we ripped Rob Parker
and Bertie Fratto for a whole segment today. Well, I

(10:13):
mean again, I demanded we we have to put some
things into context. This is week one and Arnie's kind
of tonight and he's going to forget everything he said
tonight by Wednesday. So just gotta keep that in a
little perspective. As Matthew Stafford looked phenomenal and just like

(10:34):
I said he would, and Bertie and Rob Parker stad
pat ready pads and stad bah bah bah Bertie, I
covered twenty years of this guy. That that that Well,
guess what look damn good to me? My friends? Final
numbers if you care about that kind of stuff, yards
three scores. They had six different receivers catch passes. I listen,

(10:57):
I know there's not massive numbers here running the football,
but when the Rams wanted too late, they were just
gashing the Chicago Bears and grinding away sixteen carry seventy
yards in a score for Darrell Henderson. I was depressed, man,
impressed with everything. A rating of a one fifties six
for Stafford so perfect. I'm not kidding around right now.
He's like the m v P favorite with the way

(11:18):
he looked so um gosh, there's I don't even want
to take a break, and and Peter Bikowski's coming up
here in just a bit, because now we shift from
you getting to beat your chest about the Dolphins and
we gotta get to the Bills being overrated just like
I thought they were. You know that they were one
of the six that you had guaranteed it already won
the division. So yeah, I mean that you can't that

(11:41):
divisions already over Dolphins won that, right, the Dolphins wont it.
But let me give you one quick takeaway from that.
Now that you mentioned it, don't y'all ever go doubt
and Mike Tomlin again, stop holy smoke. Let's they played right, thankfully,
it's a fourth quarters you have get so um. They
get special teams, big play, they get their defense standing

(12:03):
on their heads. I'm telling you what, man, this they
made Josh Allen's day miserable. That over under of eight
and a half is probably the easiest cash that of
over for the Potsburgh Steelers. Absolutely, that wasn't about the
Bills being overrated. That was about getting punched in the
face by a physical, good football team. By the way,

(12:25):
if we were gonna do our power rankings, which we
never do anyway, power rankings are dumb, please don't. What
are you doing? Well, I'm just gonna say, if you did,
the best team in the NFL right now would be
a tie between who Arizona and the Saints. Well, you're
not gonna include Kansas City in there after what they
did today, not getna not gonna include Pittsburgh going on

(12:46):
the road. But you know what, if we're playing this
game of I'm making declorative, definitive statements after one game,
told you guys that Titans were overrated. My goodness, I
didn't see that Cove and I couldn't believe what I
saw there. I don't know what's going on or what's
happened here on Fox Sports Radio, but there's this incredible
Nashville lean to the network propaganda to be put out

(13:08):
there telling us that coordinators don't matter look what happened
to him today. Couldn't run the football, couldn't do anything.
Got all your stars? How many yards of Travis Henry
to Derek So I just want to make sure because
I kept calling a dude by the wrong name last
night for the Oklahoma suonters and I got crushed for it,
which is understandably so all right, So, speaking of that

(13:30):
Titans Cardinals game, Derrick Henry, in which the Cardinals wanted
thirty eight to seventeen carries fifty eight yards, but he
did have a nineteen yard run. Otherwise he had oh
my goodness, Yeah, that's a great way to look at it.
He had sixteen carries for thirty eight yards essentially. I mean,
and that's against the defense that listen. I'm John Middlecoff

(13:54):
is a guy I love to listen to three podcasts,
and he's been a UM. He's not been a big
fan of the Cardinals have done defensively, and I'm with
him add percent. That's not an overly good defensive football team.
But holy smokes, they looked at today and Kyler Murray
nine through the air four scores twice, looked really good.
And Arnie Spanier's pick for one of the best teams

(14:16):
in the NFL after Week one. Now this is where
I unfortunately have to hit the brakes with everyone and
remind them the Jaguars one in Week one last year
against the Colts and proceeded to lose fifteen straight. So
maybe maybe a little contact, a little perspective, but I
don't I don't know if anyone that anyone that want

(14:36):
today is gonna end up going one in fifteen. But
you never know. Texans already have are are one game
weed on everybody else, right and you and you had
guaranteed Jacksonville would have at least two of those wins
towards your nine wins you've got. You're not thinking the
Texans division, are you? No? Come on? I mean, listen,
the Colts had a tough matchup. The Titans got caught
snooze in a little bit. I think, may may be

(15:00):
they're not as god awful as we thought, and maybe
Jacksonville is God awful. But we'll react to it all
night long. In fact, when we come back, one of
our favorite experts and insiders, Peter Pikowski, will join us
here on Fox Sports Radio with Arnie and Plank, and
we don't ask a question. If you're tired of waiting
around for hot water, choose a Navvy and and get
instant hot water for a spa light comfort while you

(15:21):
lower your bills. Save hundreds on a Navvy and tankless
water heating heater with local rebates at tankless made simple
dot com. Peter Bikowski is next. It's Onion Plank on
Fox Sports Radio, Artie and Plank on a Fox Football Sunday. Okay, ah,
then I can't believe what I just saw. You're watching

(15:41):
the Yankee Mac game. No, I'm not watching baseball. What happened?
Starting hit the home run, and the halfway through his
Trotty stopped and started barking in Lindor. He just stopped
running the bay. I've never seen anybody stopped running the
bases and point and bark. And of course the everybody
did the bulk heads Uppy. He's like, yeah, if I

(16:02):
was on the door, I would have punched him in
his face. I'm sure he would have. He stops the
home run, trott it's our bark and get out of here.
Never seen that? By life? What score six six six six?
Who's winning the Cubs. That's a line from Ferris fielder. Actually,
he says, it's scoreless. Who's one of the bears? I
boxed the line. We're brought to you in part by Discover.

Nielson Report limitations apply. Peter Brokowski, co founder, the lead
host of Locked On Packers and Locked On Today, joins

(16:44):
us after week one. Okay, we we've saved all of
our packers conversations until you joined us. How much should
be mashing the panic button right now? You think, Peter, Oh, um,
I don't know about mashing, but I think your finger
is is twitching a little bit. I think I think

(17:05):
your your muscles might be spasming a little bit. Trying
to think. Okay, what do we don't know? Because here's
the thing, guys, um, this this is a game that
obviously they were expected to win their favorites. They were
road favorites, and a in a neutral setting road you know.
Whatever we want to say about Jacksonville, Uh, it was
packer fans. So I wouldn't say it was a road

(17:27):
game anyway, but these if this is the last dance,
right then then you can't do this. You can't have this.
I made the joke that eight bulls started four and four.
I think the Packers are taking this last dance thing
a little too literally. They don't have eighty two games
and now they have seventeen. They have the extra one,

(17:49):
you know, and all that, but you know, they the
Saints didn't have Michael Thomas, they didn't have Drake Kuon Smith,
they didn't have Ken Crawl at their starting cornerback to
Marshall Mattimore in in and out of this game. They
lose Eric McCoy in the first quarter, their Pro Bowl
caliber center. And yet the Saints from start to finish

(18:11):
absolutely destroyed this Green May Packers team, on offense, on defense,
on special teams, in every way possible. This was an
ass kicking and it to me, it starts with Aaron Rodgers.
Because you have one of your worst games as a pro,
after you have an off season where you didn't show up.

(18:33):
We all know that you're pissed. You went to Hawaii.
You're on Instagram in Hawaii making jokes and and trolling fans.
You show up with the long hair and the and
the zen mantra saying, Hey, i had the best offseason
in my career. I'm locked in, I'm all in, I'm
dialed in, And this is what happens. All right. You
want the pressure, boss, you want you want these moments.

(18:55):
You want that, you want the added responsibility, you want
the front end, you want the front office to take
your positions on this stuff. Seriously, you can't come out
and have one of the worst games of your career
to start the last dance. My guy, Michael Jordan's is
not doing that. It just can't happen. And guess what,
I'm not making a lot of friends in Patris Nation

(19:15):
for this take, But I'm telling you this, Aaron Rodgers
invited all of this added scrutiny on himself. He has
no one to blame for but himself for this moment
because he amplified the pressure. He said, I want the pressure,
give me the pressure, give me the responsibility. But to
who much is given, much is expected. And that is

(19:37):
not what we saw on Sunday. I've never seen a
game Week two is a must win, but it is.
They're quite detroit because after that they may lose like
nine of their next ten games. It is a brutal schedule.
San Francisco on the road, Pittsburgh adds in Sonati. What
all of a sudden looks like a tough game at Chicago,
you got Washington, at Arizona, at Kansas City. You've got

(19:58):
some big problems here, my friend. Well, every game looks
like a tough game. If they're gonna play like this,
that's the unfortunate reality. This is a team talented enough
to win a Super Bowl. They were number two in
the NFC odds in in in um, you know, super
Bowl futures. They were favored in this game. They're still
I believe double digit opening line favorites against the Detroit

(20:21):
Lions at home. UM, Aaron Rodgers after a loss. The
numbers are impressive. UM, but we also didn't expect it
to start like this, and so do I think they're
gonna figure it out? Yeah? This was the best game
offense in the league last year. Number one and wide
open receiver percentage number one, an open receiver percentage. They
were number one in past block win rate, number one
in run block win rate number one, and EPA per

(20:43):
play number one in Football Outsiders V O A, you know,
pick a number. They were number one. So this is
this is still that offense. It's not like the Saints
and magically figured them out. Aaron Rodgers joked after the game,
this is going to be the blueprint and by you know,
by next week, we're gonna have it figured out. Now,
that's probably not true because the Buccaneers play used the
same blueprint and beat them twice um, including in a

(21:05):
very similar fashion last year in the regular season. But
they're gonna have to. They're gonna have to, as you say,
get this figured out in a hurry, or they are
going to be looking up and going, hey, what happened
to our last dance? The band is the band is
too drunk to keep playing and all the people left,
and you know, there's no there's the what are we
what are we supposed to do? Now? All the punch

(21:26):
is gone, Like it's like the stop playing, stop playing,
Get off. Peter on the flip side of this, and
I know you covered the Packers closely and you have
for years. What'd you take away from Jamis's performance and
how good he looked running this offense? Well, what is
what is remarkable for him and I think scary for

(21:49):
the rest of the league. Is Sean Payton has a
quarterback now that he does not have to baby. And
I say that with all due respect to Drew Brees,
who is an all timer Hall of Famer, but just
in terms of the areas of the field that are
now open to him that were not previously open to him.
I mean, it's a it's a whole new world. And
the big question was, could Sean Payton convinced Jamis Winston

(22:14):
to not no risk it? No biscuit? Hey, why don't
you just not risk it? And I'll make sure we
get the biscuit that Sean Payton is good enough a
coach that that he can do that. And you know
the fact that Jamis was so effective in doing that,
he didn't panic. There were a number of times early
in the game, um where the Packers got pressure. They

(22:34):
had good coverage on the back end in man coverage,
and Jamis took off and picked up chunks of yardage,
I mean ten, ten yards, twelve yards and picking up
first down. If he's gonna play with that kind of poise,
Sean Payton is gonna put him in enough positions to
succeed where he's not having to put the ball in
harm's way. And and guys, he did this today throwing
to Marquist Callaway and Deontay Harris and uh will John Humphrey,

(23:00):
Little Jordan's Humphrey. Excuse me, Little John is the yeah guy.
But you know, I could have made up any any
number of those names, and I don't know if you
would have noticed, because this is this is not the
the offense that we're used to seeing in New Orleans.
Jared Cook is not there, Michael Thomas is hurt, and
yet they were able to dice up Green Bay. They

(23:20):
got whatever they wanted on this Green Bay defense. I
think right now, Uh, it says more about where New
Orleans is offensively than the Packers defensively. They're trying to
put together a new scheme here um trying to incorporate
some new pieces. But this this Saint's offense. We knew
the defense was good, Senneth Allen one of the best
defensive coordinators in the league. They were top five and
running and passing. As they said on the broadcast a

(23:41):
number of times, we knew the defense was gonna be good.
If the offense looks like this, I mean, why why
aren't they an NFC contender? Pete, By the way, did
you catch any of the Miami New England game two
against Mack? What did you think about that Dolphins win?
But Mac looks so much better. Yeah, It's it's one
of those things where again I don't I don't. I
don't want to, you know, end someone's career in week one,

(24:05):
and I don't want to annoint anyone as a Hall
of Famer in week one. But I think unfortunately, you know,
you you heard the Patriots dbs after the game. They
thought they had to have figured out and and J. C.
Jackson said, if the first trade is not there, he's
gonna throw it up for Graphs. I mean, they think
they own this guy, and you did that just like
that can't be a thing. That cannot be the case.

(24:27):
You cannot close the gap with the Patriots. Um, if
you have a quarterback that opposing defenses think that that
just like can't play. Now, he's still a young quarterback. Um.
And and it's not like he didn't make any plays
in the game, but we need to see more progress
from him. I think they I think they made a

(24:47):
mistake not investing more in the offensive line. Um, you know,
maybe getting in some veterans if they could, but we don't.
We don't ever know what is available to them. Still,
I would be I would think I would be more
worried about what Miami is trying to build with two
of them. I would be with the Patriots and Mac
Jones because Mac Jones looks like a natural. He looks
smooth man. Peter, you're awesome. Can't wait to listen to

(25:08):
Locked On today, Locked On Packers. I'm sure we'll be
fire this week and we always appreciate your time, Bud. Thanks.
Peter's on fire, Packer fans should be on fire. Well,
he was, he was giving it to the Packers. I
think there's some frustrated Okay, yes, finished over wouldn't be

(25:30):
if by week four they're like oh and four and
they lose them after the Lions, it gets really tough
for them, all right, Arnie and Plank on a Fox
Football Sunday. Artie was kind enough to give Steve to
Sager the night off with Gascon is hanging out with
us and he's got the latest trending news. What's up,
David Man, Well, your boys will getting action pretty soon.
You nervous about them this year. Plank you are you kidding?

(25:50):
Are you nervous? I drank a six pack today in anticipation.
That way I can think right whenever they're getting beat
by fifty tomorrow night against the Rabils players, sot me
ask you a question, are you more? Are you more
nervous about the Silver and Black or your Sooner? Well,
I'm just I mean, look, wow, it's it's a year.
It's an annual tradition like no other, Like well, Oklahoma,

(26:13):
stop somebody, that's right, because they're gonna score points. So
I'm much more concerned about everything Raiders related than I
am anything Sooner. Relay. That's interesting. They got their bad
game out of the way and still one. Yeah, that's true.
I gets bad football team right, Uh Nebraska this week
should be fun though for the Sooner some I pumped

(26:34):
about it. Yeah, let's see what happens with the coach
Frost right for the time being, Um, guys, Rams and
Bears that think came to a final tonight and Matthew
Stafford at a day. Stafford again wants to launch steps
up and deals. Can we top shelf Cooper Cup all alone?
Up to ten touchdown Stafford on the day had three

(26:55):
touchdown passes, one of them with Cooper Cup. Robert Woods
had another one as well, and then Jefferson a sixty
seven year touchdown reception rams fourteen over the Bears. Andy
Dalton through a pick in the end zone, also lost
the fumble when he was sacked. Justin Fields did come
into the ball game and had a touchdown run and
the affair of thirty four fourteen was the final. Meanwhile,

(27:15):
Denver wins in New York against the Giants. Packers get
swallowed up by the Saints thirty eight to three. Jamis
Winston had five touchdown passes in the affair. Dolphins went
in New England against the Patriots. Charges went in Washington.
They beat the Washington football team twenty to sixteen. Sam
Darnal little revenge Panthers over the Jets nineteen fourteen. Donald
had two touchdowns, one through the air, one the ground.

(27:36):
The shockra I guess Is Houston. They prevailed sixteen point
difference thirty seven twenty one. Chiefs in a firefight with
the Brown thirty three twenty nine was the final in
that contest. Guys met sind Yankees right now at six
six in the home half of the seventh inning and
also weight earlier in the day, Greg Bell seventeen carries
for hundred twenty five yards and a touchdown San Diego

(27:57):
State fourteen over Arizona. Pop it up there? Can you
imagine that? For you've been packed twelve team just getting
lacked by San Diego State and completely, I mean, just
like taking it right on the face the basketball. They're
guaranteed Arizona is a basketball program. Yeah, I don't know.
Sean Miller is not there. Hang your hat on, Dimond sports.

(28:20):
Aren't your sob? There's no shame in that. Are your
son is still playing hockey? Right? Don't worry about that.
I had six points tonight in my basketball league. You
didn't bring that up either, did you? And I think
you're in a wheelchair. I would wow for me. For me,
I'm really surprised that Arnie had six points in a
basketball game. It didn't put all six of them in

(28:41):
action on They're gonna be up. They will be up,
and you're awesome and all right, Bubbo running the show,
lead a lap obviously still kind of nursing his wounds
after the Packers lost today. We're efforting all the post
games sound. That's kind of how things roll here on
a Fox Football Sunday is a final hour. We hit
the highlights, we hit the locker rooms, We let Anie

(29:03):
spit fire for the first two hours of this show. Um,
I found this one pretty good tweet from Darrell who
hits us up at stinking Genius one on a Plank
show and everybody should be following us a Fox Sports radio.
All right, Damien Harris is in the doghouse now he
may not play for a month. You know how the
hoodie rolls fire up. Ramandre mac Jones was fantastic. He

(29:25):
didn't lose that game and deserve a better fate getting
my Navy tin patch jersey soon. Due is so calm,
so cool, Mac. No, they need David Harris. He looks
so good running the ball early. Yeah, yeah, the fund
But didn't Stevenson have a fumball also? Or no? I
thought he had one too? Hey man, I I was
on red Zone on that game today and I don't

(29:46):
even think I saw Damian Romandre Stevenson getting the game.
He had a couple of carries, but Damien Harris had
a hundred yards. He looked really strong, And um, I
don't think Belichick scoring the Benjum. I understand what he's saying,
but he'll get him right back out there. They really
have nobody else, So the Patriots. The Patriots had four
four fumbles. Yeah, Harris fumbled, Ramandre fumbled, back fumbled, wants

(30:10):
to recoverage. Smith fumbled once, and Max fumble was hysterical.
I don't think I've seen that highlight yet. What happened?
He turned around, got turned around, and he tried to
ground the ball, but he was facing the wrong way,
so he threw it backwards, which is an automatic fumble.
I'm surprised I didn't cause the hoodie to flip. And
the one more from Roger things. I already know the

(30:34):
Eagles might win the NFC East book the NFC West winner.
As Super Bowl champs, Judge and Naggie are in a
race to see who gets fired fastest. Wow wow, um no,
first of all, the who's gonna get fired first? Um?

(30:55):
It should be the Giants. My goodness, Daniel Jones is
just horrible. I've had enough him, man, My god. And
they don't have another option right now this year. I
mean they don't, you know, sometimes whenever you and and
again Daniel Jones maybe a little bit unfair, right, still
a young quarterback. But it's at that point now where
you say, all right, you know what you've got or

(31:15):
you or you don't have it right. It's either you've
got a dude that you're gonna continue to build around
you think it's gonna be okay, or it's time to
move on and listen again. Week one knee jerk reactions.
That much vaunted New York Giants defense. It was shredded
by the Brown Goes running attack, and that suddenly, I
guess you could say resurgeon Daniel Jones with another year

(31:39):
and assistant. No, he looked awful, he looked horrible. The
Giants were a team that I was kind of counting
on to maybe have a little juice this year, maybe
surprising people. They look terrible. Yeah. No, the Cowboys are
the best team in the NFC East. There's no doubt
about that. If though you know what, it's gonna be
another eight and eight, maybe huld be nine and eight
year that's gonna win it or eight nine that will
win that division this year. By the way, that is

(32:00):
one of my favorite things in looking back on your
picks from last Sunday. Let's see here, how did you
refer to him as that noodle arm Dak pres Scott
and the Cowboys are going to get destroyed. He must
have gotten his noodle arm fixed that that line went
from like six to like nine. You understand that, don't you. Yes,

(32:21):
But even if you would have taken him at six,
I mean they, I would have backed off once and
I would have said, I'm off the game. You know,
I liked them last week, but I'm off you if
you doubled down then on your Twitter picks on on
Thursday on because it was too late, I already gave
him to you. Oh man, you are the ultimate waffler.
I'm almost suppressed. All right, Speaking of picks in Vegas,
We're gonna hang out with Todd Ferman coming up next hour,

(32:44):
the co host of the Better Board podcast. But when
we come back, we're mashing the panic button for certain teams.
But who not only deserves the praise, but should we
kind of start putting a little aster risk next to
as a team that might be coming out of nowhere
to surprise us this year. I got two teams next
we'll talk about here on Fox Sports Radio. All right,

(33:05):
it's already implaying on Fox Sports Radio. I've got my
fantasy fill in lethal app and I have debriefed. I'm
ready to go. Are you playing? I'm playing one, but
my team got clovered. My team is awful. Nobody wants
to hear about anyone's fantasy team. I that crap. But
I will say there was one guy one guy today.

(33:28):
But I think has a long way to go in
the season. I want to remind everyone that through the
first eight weeks, we'll say still a lot of football
to be played, and then we'll remind you after week
eight that we told you back in Week one about things.
It's a vicious cycle. Okay, just just hang with us,
knee jerking like crazy. But Arnie as I as I
sidn't even think about it. Two teams that we weren't

(33:49):
necessarily expecting to we win week one that I think
might have something to say this season are the aforementioned
Arizona Cardinals, because not only did they win, but they
went into Tennessee and beat the ever living snot out
of the Tennessee Titans. They want. This game was never closed.

(34:09):
The final score is not indicative of how big of
a blowout it was and that's a twenty five point win.
NFC West was amazing today. Seahawks dismantled the Colts. Russell
Wilson looked good, Niners look good. Rams look good winning tonight.
We talked about it when we preview the NFC West
last week. Um, I'm I'm thinking, Arnie, we're gonna we're

(34:31):
gonna have ourselves quite the tussle in that division this year. Well,
if we're talking about teams that we're surprising, you said
you had two, Well, Cincinnati was my one. I got
the other one. I'm not even kidding that's the other
one I was gonna bring up. Yeah, I mean, I mean,
my goodness. Um, you know, anytime you get a win,
that's one thing. But they beat the Vikings, who just
to be it seemed to be snake bitten for how
long now? I I mean, I bet your Viking fans

(34:53):
can't wait for the day Cousins isn't their quarterback anymore so?
And two, I was at g in present by Detroit
and their loss where they back down to only lose
by eight um and almost get in the end zone
for one more time. I was actually thinking, if they
could win this, maybe they exercise the demons and start
fresh there. But they still lost. But it was it
was a pretty good run. I was. I was. I

(35:14):
was a little surprised that they made that run against
San Francisco the early session today, I was, I was
all red zone and they kind of started going away
from that game quite a bit early. I mean, that
was a thirty one a ten game at the half,
and then all of a sudden, you look up and
in the lines are they've they've got a pulse, you know,
twenty They put sixteen on the board in the third quarter,

(35:34):
our fourth quarter? Excuse me? Did you see the hit
that Jared Goff took though in the first quarter of
that game? Literally his his leg got bitten back. I
thought he was gone. I thought his A C L
was torn, But he stayed in the game and played
pretty damn good. But here's the other side of this.
So the Niners hold on and win, and I'm gonna
get more in depth in the Bengals here in a bit.

(35:56):
But since you've gone down this road, I don't I mean,
Jimmy Garblo is good. I mean, he's it's not his
fault that the Lions came back and win that game,
he threw for three fourteen in a touchdown, and every
time it seemed like they were switching to him. I
went back and rewatch the highlights on the on the
red zone, Dad, he looks smooth on you. I think
it's if he can stay healthy. I mean, is it

(36:18):
eventually gonna be Trey Lance or do you think Jimmy
G can keep that job? No. I think they wanted
to put in Tray Lance, Trey Lance to have that
one touchdown past two and is only attempt um for
And I'm sure everybody got all crazy if you're a
forty fan, but you're right, Jimmy G looked real good.
He's only threw the ball times, um, but Mitchell ran
the ball for over a hundred yards, so that that
helped them there. But I want to see what a

(36:40):
little bit more next week, what Jimmy G is going
to do. I wanna see if he's gonna be able
to put up that many yards again. Well, and of
course you mentioned next week, and we'll preview that much
late in the show. We still have Week one to recap,
but the Niners are on the road against the suddenly
dominant Philadelphia Eagles. Though we we got that game in
our market, and I wonder here, and I guess you

(37:02):
could say that in Oklahoma. I wonder if that was
because of the Jaalen Hurts factor. So we had that
game on, you know, one of the two screens here
in the Fox Sports Radio Oklahoma studios. But um, Matt
Ryan looked terrific. I mean absolutely. I know that the

(37:23):
Falcons fans coming into this season didn't have a ton
of hope, but I mean, you want to talk about
knee jerk reactions, I don't even think it's much of
a knee jerk. This is gonna be a situation I
think for years and years and years where Atlanta is
gonna lament not getting a quarterback with that what they
have the third overall pick in the job this year.
And listen, I like Arthur Smith. I'm not trying to

(37:45):
bury him yet, but holy smokes man, they looked. I mean,
Matt Ryan was sacked three times. He only threw for
a hundred sixty four yards. Now, as a team, they
were using cor Darrel are sent a lot as their
running back, which it took me a while to figure
out why eighty four was running the ball so much.
On my R eighty seven whatever he was wearing. But

(38:07):
they ran the ball. Okay, but Arnie in everything, and
I again, like I said, I got this game in
my market, So I watched entirely too much of it.
I guess I like pain and everything they did Atlanta
was horrific. And then in everything that Philadelphia did, there's
Jalen Hurts just consistently proving the haters and the doubters wrong.
He looked incredible today. I thought he looked really good.

(38:29):
I'd give him about to be. Yeah, he looked really
good against a bad team out there. But I mean,
you can really do whatever it is against that team
you're playing. So I'm giving him credit. The three touchdowns. Yes,
he's give two yards rushing and he gets when his
team won thirty two to six. Especially when I thought
that the Eagles were like the worst team in the
NFL coming in the week number one. You know, it's

(38:50):
almost like you've made this decision on how bad they're
gonna be, so you're gonna be a hard greater on
their quarterback. Even though he was amazing. Give him a
B A game a B B. What did you give
to A plus plus? If I have to, no, I
give to a public like a C plus maybe a
B minus. Had a tough interception without that fumble. New

(39:11):
he tried to throw that interception away and fell out
of his slipped out of his hands when he tried
to throw it away. So you know nobody's bringing that up.
Why are you making excuses for him? You're gonna when
they lose, somebody's got to when they lose next week,
you're gonna be so so all about getting rid of him.
You're back this. You were trying to fire him midway
through the third quarter of this game. Who did the

(39:33):
Dolphins play next week? Um? I just actually had the
week to schedule pulled up whenever I had to go
all in on. Uh. The horrific nature of the Atlanta Falcons.
They they played Buffalo. That's a win. They play Buffalo
at home too, Okay, Uh, an angry Buffalo team coming
off a tough as Steelers. They look like garbage. I

(39:56):
don't want to sit here and pretend like Miami looked amazing, Artie.
I don't think you're sitting here planning your flag on
that performance today, are you. Well? We did beat the Patriots.
It is a start. Everybody else in the division laws.
So you told me the Patriots were four win team.
So when was the five win When was the last
time the Dolphins were in sole possession of first place
in the ANFC East, Probably like Week two last year

(40:17):
or something when they were one one? I don't know,
but congratulations, congratulations, you're in sole possession of first place.
All right. So two teams that we didn't talk a
lot about heading into the season that really caught my
eye to go full circle feel um, the Arizona Cardinals
and the Cincinnati Bengals. But what a performance today by
the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers. When we come back,

(40:37):
who should be mashing the panic button. We'll get into
the next with Arnie and Plank on Fox. I asked
our two hours to let's go Week one almost in
the books, I know, I know. All you guys want
to talk about is Raiders Ravens to move tomorrow. By
the way, it's week one, Yeah, but everybody else in

(40:57):
your division one once. If you lose, should be the
only team that losing your division? Your Donzo, Yeah, I'm
i'm I'll be ready to quit the season after losing
Week one. You know you're gonna be upset if you
lose tomorrow. Yes, of course I'm gonna be upset if
I lose tomorrow. I'm a Raiders fan, by the way,
for those of you that are new to Fox Sports Radio, uh,
and not like kind of a fan. I'm I'm the

(41:19):
type of fan that is impossible to be around when
things are going good or bad. For eleven, it's a
poor arty. I don't know how you've made it through
because they've been so good during this run. But no, um,
I think tomorrow it's a fascinating matchup. I really do.
We'll get to it later in the show. The post
game sounds starting to roll in, so we'll sprinkle some

(41:40):
of that in before we go all in at the
top of next hour. And then Todd Ferman is coming
up in about fifteen minutes from now to recap the
day in Vegas and kind of what caught his eye,
and we have some early lines on week two games.
But Ali, there were three stories that dropped right before
the weekend truly kicked I shouldn't say the weekend Sunday

(42:02):
truly kicked off. And let's hit these real quick and
and hopefully it's the last time we have to mention
DeShawn Watson in quite a while. But what did you
make of Jake Glazier's report that the Texans were doing
everything they can to keep Deshaun Watson away from the
locker room and away from the team. Yeah, but I
thought he didn't want to play anyway. Now, if he
doesn't want to play, what does he just want to

(42:22):
hang around the team and just say, hey, I'm I'm
gonna be a distraction. I'm not really following this. I
wouldn't let him around the team either. I'd say, hey, UM,
don't worry about coming, don't suit up, but we'll figure out, Um,
what's going to happen when you're legal issues are done.
But for now, um, you're a member of this team,
but we don't need you to shoot up your the
third stream quarterback. Maybe we'll trade you during the course

(42:43):
of the season if anything changes, but for now, we're
not worried about it. Yeah, and if if you missed
the report, I mean, obviously nobody thinks that he's going
to ever end up playing for the Houston Texans again, right,
I mean I don't. I don't think anyone truly feels that.
But just because Jay's money and I don't want to

(43:03):
misinterpret anything that he said. Here was Glazers report from
earlier today on Fox. Um said Fox Sports Radio. We
love having n Fox Bitch Radio on the Fox NFL pregame.
I don't see a scenario word. Deshaun Watson ever plays
for the Texans again, and the wild part is is
he's still working out for the team because he's still
on their active roster, but they're keeping him separated from

(43:26):
everybody else on the roster. They want us to be
Tyrod Tyler's team. Lately, they've let him be known that well,
he could be traded for three ones plus a combination
of three picks or players. They already had that they
had three ones and three threes going into the NFL Draft.
They had four teams who are really interested. Back then
they said absolutely not, We're not trading him. Weren't taking

(43:46):
any of the offers. I think that they really overshot
their step in this. So again, good good stuff. They
don't want him to take any of the shine away
from Tyrod Taylor, and that makes sense. But Arnie, your
offense keep coming up. In fact, there was a report
today that the Dolphins wore the team, I think Mike
Florio reported it from Pro Football Talk that had made

(44:08):
the big push, but they're asking price was just too
high and the Dolphins backed off. It's ridiculous. I can't
believe there was four teams that were willing to give
up three number ones and three number twos. I guess
is the way it worked out. I I find that
mind boggling crazy, especially in the situation that he did
right now. So, um, no, when did this drop for

(44:28):
the Sean? Had that dropped by the draft or no?
Whenever he was in a bunch of trouble. I don't
know the timeline someone, but if it was before. But
even if it was before, that's uh, you're asking for
a whole heck of a lot, even for a guy
that wasn't in some legal issues. Three number ones and
three number twos for this guy, I don't think i'd
pay that. Well, A lot of people realize that, you know,

(44:50):
franchise quarterbacks don't come along every single day unless you
just wait till you get one of the draft? Right,
how's that worked out for teams? You mean like the Patriots, well,
like the Bears, one like San Francisco. Wait, hold on,
Arnie how many games has Justin Fields played in the NFL.
Well may be ahead of the curve, and I'm gonna

(45:11):
tell you it's already gonna work out from them. You
can see that. Listen. There's more busts in the first
round of drafted quarterbacks and there are success stories. And
if you're gonna crown Justin Fields and Trey Lance is
being better than Deshaun Watson kind of getting over your skis.
I think even Mac Jones off one performance against the
Dolphins and they lost. I thought Mac Jones looked really

(45:33):
I mean I could have given him an a minus
in this one. So the Deshaun Watson story continues to
kind of percolate the other story, and I thought this
one was fascinating. This was from Jason lock and Forth
and you hear Jason on with Jason and Mike here
on Fox Sports Radio Jason Smith, um And and Mike
Harmon on Monday through Friday here on Fox Sports Radio.

(45:56):
And the reports centered around Urban Meyer and issues that
Urban has had with his temper. Urban Meyer has had
repeated issues with his temper and has become unhinged in Jacksonville.
I'm not gonna go through this whole thing. But he
has everyone looking over their shoulders, a source told Jason

(46:18):
lacafora he becomes unhinged way too easily. He doesn't know
how to handle losing. Even in the preseason he was
losing it and wants to take over the drills himself.
It's not going well. And then they go out and
get smoked today by Houston. You know, I don't buy
it to that. Oh, he's not used to losing. Well,
look where you coach for crying out loud and let

(46:39):
me explained something to Did you hear that stat today
that Trevor Lawrence today was the first day he's ever
lost the regular season game in his life. That we
need to lose one in high school, in college when
he lost do in college, they were playoff games. This
guy's never lost the regular season game. Well, you better
get used to it, because there's gonna be a lot
of you losing. Do you know who the last number

(47:01):
one overall pick at the quarterback position was to win
their season opener, last top pick. No, no, no, it's close.
David Carr whenever he was every number one overall draft
pick at the quarterback position. Whenever they started the season
Opener had lost. Now add Trevor Lawrence to that mix.

(47:25):
David Carr, my guy, still a trivia question answer. And
then that's because the teams are so lousy. This is
what we've been trying to tell you for three or
four months. When you're telling us the greatness of the
Jacksonville Jaguars and how they're getting a Hall of Fame
coach and a once in a lifetime quarterback, and how
you could see him win in ten games, you're going

(47:45):
to the playoffs. I already saw a couple of the boy.
Trevor Lawrence is way overrated. Easy with that one. So
Deshaun Watson rumors, according to Jason Locking for urban Meyer
going unhinged and and honestly, the third report that came out,
I won't lie to you. I didn't really know what
to make of it, and I didn't know if it
made sense. But the Adam Schefter report from earlier today

(48:07):
where the the San Francisco forty Niners were trying to
keep Mac Jones off the Patriots. I had to look
at this one like five or six times to make
sure that it wasn't some sort of fake account, because honestly,
it made no sense to me, because well, hey, he
still ended up with the New England Patriots. But being

(48:29):
why why wouldn't you just draft him then? If you
were worried about trying to keep him out of of
of New England, why would you give you Trey Lance?
If they were gonna stick it to him? Um, aren't
they unfriendly terms San Francisco in New England? And four didn't.
The Patriots said Garoppolo was like a favorite for a
second round pick. I'm I don't know, there's dead whole
thing I was. I was so confused by it, I

(48:51):
won't even lie. But in fact I had to go
back and I think he gave an actual report on
it whenever he was on their pregame show. But it
just it was one of those two where I still,
like five or six times, had to go back and say,
well what but here again it was from earlier this morning.

(49:12):
One of the many reasons why the forty Niners traded
up to the three spot in this year's NFL Draft
was their belief that the Patriots could trade up to
number three and beat them to Alabama quarterback Mac Jones.
The Patriots didn't, but still got Mac Jones. So I
guess maybe the one interesting angle in that was the
Niners did move up with the intent of getting mac Jones,

(49:35):
and apparently what changed their mind. They must have changed
their mind or I'm not sure we're reading the report
correctly because I thought they ended up getting the quarterback
day won, so I I mean, jeez, they'll never tell
you the truth, that's for Damn sure. Are you claiming
I need to go back and take the IOWA Basic
Skills test for comprehension? You might be right, You might
be right. All right, it's already in Plank on Fox

(49:56):
Sports Radio. We're recapping week number one of the National
foot Ball League. That's week one, which is still awaiting
Monday night football between the Raiders and the Ravens. To
more on that later, but let's hit some of your tweets, uh,
Nature boy rights, NFC West four, No, NFC North oh
and four. I think I'm seeing a pattern. NFC North

(50:17):
Canna struggle this year. Vikings were the one team that
really surprised me today looking bad they did. And you know,
but why why shouldn't they surprise us? We we always
know they're gonna choke somewhere along the way when Cousins
is going to be the quarterback. The thing that really
surprised me was how bad the Packers looked. I mean,
they just got boat raised for for a team that
only threw for a hundred and fifty yards. Think if
I would have told you that the Saints would go

(50:38):
for a hundred fifty yards, um, you would have thought
that the Packers would have beat them by thirty points.
Oh when it was all said and done, I'm starting
to think that maybe Detroit could be a little bit
of a sleeper in that division if they played in
the second half um the rest of the season like that,
they look pretty good. And I don't even know what
to make of the Bears. How long we'll take before
they say, all right, Eddy, let's let's move on. Come

(50:58):
on now. We we've got to go ahead and make
a a change, and we gotta get the fields in there.
You know I'm in there. It's it's a different juice, man.
You can just I've used a lot. You can feel
it already. And we're sitting on our butts on the
couch in Vermont, in Oklahoma, and we can figure it out.
Matt Naggy, Uh, Michelle, this is the kindest tweet that
has ever been sent to the show. May I ask

(51:20):
your opinion of the Cardinals Titans game. I was beyond
belief with the Cards performance. I just tuned in, so
hope I didn't miss much. Wow, she's probably polite to
me and not to you. Um, probably Cardinals. That's why
I said my if I was doing rankings, Cardinals maybe
number one because they went on the road and they
dominated the way they did, and it's the way they

(51:42):
held Henry to the yardage. I mean, they just shut
him down. It was absolutely unbelievable. Loved seeing Murray out there.
Looks so much different this year than the last couple
so uh. And the four touchdowns were amazing. I just
everything you loved about I loved everything about the way
the Cardinals looked. I two more quick ones before we
get our break and get Todd Ferman in here. Uh, Jesse, right,

(52:04):
you know it's NFL season based on the excitement and
planks voice and Arnie's sadistic laugh. Even if I wasn't
a Raider fan, I hate the Chiefs and I'm preparing
myself for a nine and eight season. Oh you kidding me?
Nine and eight? John Gruden might have might hang a banner. Uh,
and then this good reminder from you, Um, okay, you
were gonna go five and oh and your picks last week.

(52:26):
Don't don't be a hater, because I'm just telling you
the truth. The Raiders now look like the worst team
in that division. Well, I mean breaking news. People have
been saying that all off season. Um, I'll wait till
they play a game. And you also told me last
week that the Eagles were the worst team in the NFL. Currently,
rights are going to be a Raiders play yet. Um.

(52:49):
You also told me that uh Dak Prescott and his
noodle arm was gonna get smoked by Tamma. Everybody kept
telling me he's got some type of arm problem. I
wouldn't make it that up, was I. Let's see who else?
Oh yeah, Jacksonville was your surprise team and they were
gonna absolutely dominate Houston. So oh yeah, you also told
me that Notre Dame was gonna roll. Listen, I'm all
here for you telling me how bad the Raiders are

(53:10):
because there's a pretty good chance for wrong. Makes me. Well,
you were one three and one last week, JP, Rights, Chris,
don't make any picks tonight. The only one I remember
you making is the Dodgers will win the West by
five games. Leave the horrible pick making to Arnie. Remember
how he did during the free season. Honestly, Arnie was
so bad during the free season he stopped picking preseasons games.

(53:33):
That's done. Oh, this one's good from nature boy, because
anytime you bring up Deeter Brock, it's good nature boy rights.
Deeter Brock would have looked good against that Bears defense.
To what in the world, What in the world has
happened to the Bears defense? Right all over here? Ro
Kwan Smith, Khalil Mack. They get the x Y guy

(53:55):
coming in, They're gonna be unstoppable. And every time I
watched them, I feel like they're getting burned? Are they
just a bad team all the way around? Now? And
they were running the ball like crazy at the beginning
of my goal. This is a good one, This is good.
Possibly turn into age. They stopped giving the ball to
David Inntgomery. It made no sense at all. Right, when
we come back, Todd Ferman is gonna join us. Keep

(54:16):
the tweets coming. We'll hit him up. There's the I
guess you could say, Arenie, what the three non stories.
It kind of took center stage before kickoff. The Niners
were apparently moving up to keep Mac Jones away from
the Patriots. It didn't work, but they still got their guy.
Teams are still interested into Shawn Watson, but the asking
price hasn't dipped. And apparently Urban Meyer is a little
unhinged right now at Paxtonville. I'd hate to see what

(54:39):
it's lack around that facility after today. When we come back,
how the books do? We'll talk to Todd from an
X on Fox Sports Radio. Hey, it's Arnie and Plank
on Fox Sports Radio. It's a Fox Football Sunday, brought
to you in part by Discover. Discover matches all the

He's on the Spaniard. I'm Chris Plank. He is the
host of the Better Board podcast Todd Ferman. He joins
the crew tonight at Todd Ferman on Twitter. Right Todd Ada,
feel good Man books packed the last couple of days

(55:20):
stadiums packed. How fun was the first full weekend of football.
Everybody gets excited for the National Football League. And while
college football now doubt Chris has grown im prominent from
on the national landscape and it's still very much a
regional sport, the NFL covers all. And when you talk
about sports book handle for opening weekend, everybody that had
been waiting champing at the bit since we saw the

(55:40):
Super Bowl handed out to Tampa, I think got their
money's worth, and the books were thrilled with some of
the results as a lot of the bigger decisions went
their way, with the lone exception being Sundaynight Football. Oh,
they must have made a cleaning on that dot was
Tampa Bay game. Everybody I knew was we're all over Tampa,
even with their way in six, seven, eight nine, didn't
give me, give me, give me, give me, gimme. And

(56:01):
they all got burned on that. Todd for sure, And
when you look at the way that game played out,
I think the general public was legitimately concerned about Dak
Prescott and what the Cowboys offense was going to look like.
Clearly he answered all questions and then some the Cowboys
defense again appears to be their Achilles steel But you're right,
and not only did that result help the books in
terms of Dallas covering that blew up a lot of

(56:22):
teasers and some of the other more exotic options that
were out there as well. In the game today, that
probably had the biggest impact for books early all would have,
of course been the Pittsburgh Steelers winning outright at six
and a half point Dogs, and then the New Orleans Saints,
much to producer Lee chagrin, absolutely burying the Green Bay Packers.
How surprised were you buy that, Todd? I mean, let's

(56:43):
face it, we we all expected, all right, just Aaron
Rodgers to come out nails, and he sucked at that.
He was bad. Well, I mean, I can't say I'm
that surprised, but I have to admit I'm a little
bit surprised because I did not have a ticket on
the Saints. Plus the points in that particular spot, New
Orleans win not shocking to do it in the dominant
fashion that we saw, probably open some eyes. Given the
fact that Jamis Winston through for five touchdowns on the

(57:05):
lowest yards ever recorded for a quarterback that produced five
passing touchdowns in a game and Aaron Rodgers looked like
he wanted to be anywhere else but on the football field,
and maybe we started to see what Jordan's love can be. Again,
I'm not eulogizing Aaron Rodgers, but you do wonder how
that locker room looks in fields and if Rogers struggles,
will he check out mentally because I don't think the
preparation going into this season was anywhere close to what

(57:28):
he did going into last year. He played with the
chip on his shoulder. Todd, it was like stealing. When
you took the Dolphins plus three and a half, they
won straight up. Of course they were going to cover
the line. You know you were to go with a
rookie quarterback. By the way, Mac Jones looked real good.
But I love the Dolphins plus the points today. Yeah,
I don't know if Dad was stealing Arnie the Dolphins offense. Still,
he's an awful lot to be desired. That was an

(57:48):
opportunistic defense again, taking advantage of a costly fumble from
Damien Harris at the juncture where they needed it the most.
I'm not sure Arnie, which Stalin has you brimming with
confidence to a going sixteen two yards miles gasket nine
carries for forty nine yards, or the fact that the
Dolphins generated be sitting for this, Arnie, the robust total
of two nine yards of offense. But hey, last they

(58:10):
get the win even with the net yard is differential
what it was. The yards for play working in New
England's favor. But we'll see how the Dolphins handle an
ordinary Buffalo Bills team coming into their building every Sunday.
We've already quinch the an FC East the word in
first place by herself, Todd. So are the Houston Texans, Arnie.
And I'm pretty sure the Houston Texans will not be
a top the heap in the a f C South.
But I do think the Dolphins have much more of

(58:31):
a puncher's chance, obviously to get to the playoffs than Houston.
Do you think what we saw in Tennessee today was
a sign of promise for Arizona and deep concern for
Tennessee or just Week one weirdness. I think a combination
of both. That was one game that I can take
credit first having seen the light there for a Tennessee
offense that really hadn't worked together as a cohesive group.

(58:52):
Julio Jones missed some time during preseason. Ryan Tannehill was
on the COVID reserve lift list going in, and there
was a ton of optimism about airs Zona and the
weapons that they brought in to surround Kyler Murray with defensively,
that was probably the bigger surprise. They did a great
job bottling up Derrick Henry early forced the Titans away
from their bread and butter. But the one thing Chris
that showed up there that hasn't changed from last season.

(59:13):
Tennessee still has no defense. And if you have weapons
and a dynamic pastor, you're gonna have a ton of
success and force the Titans to match you score for score.
Todd Eddie, team that you saw today that you stood up,
took notice and said, you know what, I want to
bet them next week. I like the way they look.
I won't say next week, but I think the Denver
Broncos for me, answered an awful lot of questions. They're
not going to be flashy, and we're not sure exactly

(59:34):
how long they'll be without the services of Jerry Judy
for but they take a workman like approach. We know
how good that they are in the secondary. Teddy Bridgewater
improved his ridiculous record out to twenty three and three
against the spread in NFL road starts, and I think
they checked the boxes for the team that can not
necessarily beat the Kansas City to get to a f
C prominence. But there's no reason Denver can't be in

(59:56):
that second tier with what I saw there on the
team a little bit concerned about, but we'll see how
they write the ship if they do next week on
the road. Minnesota. They were the better team for stretches
against the Bengals, but you can't shoot yourself in the
foot and accumulate ten penalties for ninety plus yards and
a half and expect to win at this level. Do
you like what you saw from the Bengals enough? Are
the Bengals excuse me to potentially make them it? Timmy,

(01:00:19):
you might throw something at this season. I'm still skeptical.
I love seeing Joe Burrow out there and healthy. I
think it's always great when young quarterbacks can return from
injury as devastating as what he had to go through
and show very little uh in terms of ill effects.
But at the same time, I think this was more
on Minnesota's ineptitude than it was the Cincinnati Bengals being
extremely efficient or successful. I still believe that Dalvin Cooke's

(01:00:43):
butt was down on the ground and now the officials
got it wrong, which would have led to a potential
for Minnesota win that game by a field goal. But
young teams need to get breaks, and we'll see exactly
what the Bengals can do on the road. In the
Andy Dalton revenge game against the Bears, team I think
looked a lot better offensively than the fourteen points suggest.
But again we'll sit with waited bated sit and wait
with bated breath trying to figure out how they handled

(01:01:04):
their quarterback. Can underam there in Chicago Todd one week
and I'm already off the Pathers bandwagon. When you beat
the Jets by five, Sam Darnald, okay, let's than the
three yards passing, But I expected him to have one
of those four touchdowns. My old team, I'm gonna destroy you.
The Panthers were all going to destroy you, and there
was no destroying. They got six points of the second
that's pretty much it. I don't like the way they

(01:01:26):
looked at it, like the way Sam Donald looked up
off the bandwagon. Well, I mean, they were a little
bit disappointing as far as their offensive execution. They did
have a fourth and goal where they fumbled down inside
the Jets five yard line that would have given them
a bigger lead earlier in the contest. I think Donald
was workman like in efficient. The biggest thing for Caroline
obviously was getting Christian McCaffrey thirty touches. So much for

(01:01:47):
easing him back into NFL action with nearly a hundred
ninety yards of offense in that particular effort. But I
think we'll get a much better indicator of where Caroline
is going to be this season next Sunday when they
play host to the Saints. That's the game that I have,
sir cold, I want to do some digging, but I
think Carolina could be a live underdog catching the field
goal hod. When do you start jumping into the week
two lines? Do you give it? Do you a lot

(01:02:07):
of breathe for a day, or do you dive in?
I usually dive in. I'll go through my process and
set my numbers ahead of time, then obviously see how
the market reacts, whether it's overreacting or underreacting to one
data point that we saw here and then begin to
start to comb through and whether it be college football
or pro football. I mean, unfortunately, there's very little rest

(01:02:28):
that trure forwarders in this business during this time of year,
and you need to be able to try and jump
on some of the best numbers when they're available and
understand how the market may not be treating teams correctly
in a positive or negative manner. When you look to
identify some wagering spots. Giants stink out loud. Just take
over of just better get the giants every week. Take
wash it in this week way the three or the
three and a half, wait whatever you have through their

(01:02:50):
todd You know what, this is gonna game, a divisional game,
and we've seen how tightly contested these can be. It
wouldn't surprise me if we were talking about seventeen type
football game. I'm cure to get the reports out of
New York and see exactly how banged upset Kuon Barkley was.
Didn't get a ton of touches, but still a short
week coming off of that, you know, gruesome knee injury. Meanwhile,
Washington most likely will go at Taylor Hennike under center,

(01:03:12):
and I think that was one of the more misleading scores.
It was a game I'll admit I completely miss handicapped
had about on Washington, and don't be fooled by that
twenty sixteen final score. The Chargers should have won that
game by fourteen and seventeen points. At minimum. They were
just done in by some poor execution inside the red zone.
But Washington really didn't mount the threat and their defense
showed some vulnerability. Fortunately for them. I don't think Daniel

(01:03:33):
Jones and company can exploit it on Thursday night. Yeah,
follow Todd on Twitter at Todd Ferman. Subscribe to has
Bet the Board podcast and we appreciate you man. Great
stuff is always have a great Monday night game, always
a pleasure. One last thing to not just the podcast,
if you folks can go to YouTube dot com search
bet the Board. Will have a little sweepstakes there. And Arnie,
I know you need at le extra spending cash because

(01:03:54):
you probably have to pay your man, so potential for
a thousand dollar free roll for you, my friend. All
I decided was to take my Arizona Wildcats against San
Diego State. That was a good pick. Well, at least
you were able to go to bad four minutes into it.
Good call, thanks to the Board podcast. And that's pretty yuh,
that's pretty cold man. It's just been tough for you

(01:04:16):
here tonight with your Arizona Wildcats. All right, before we
go any further, let's get caught up on everything going
on in not just the NFL but baseball. To David
Gascon is an house Todd. Todd failed to mention it,
but I'll do it for him. Every Friday morning at
nine o'clock Pacific twelve o'clock Eastern, they Todd and Paint
Insider host a a pregame show that highlights everything in

(01:04:38):
college football and the National Football League. Gets on YouTube.
It's live and on demand. So just a heads up
for you guys. Interest in this gets beautiful? Let's go. Um,
you know I might have a litle something to do
with that, So there you go. What I'm just helping promote,

(01:04:59):
you know, trying to do that, trying to help out
the cars. Um. So what are we looking at for
you tomorrow? Plank? I mean plus four is that good
for you? Do you feel comfortable with that? I'm never comfortable.
They're gonna readers game? What do you mean they're gonna
lose that's because Arnie will say they're gonna lose Oklahoma
is gonna loose in Nebraska. Then they're gonna lose to Kansas.

(01:05:19):
How mad you are? You should feel good about this? Yeah?
I know it's at home, it's in prime time, and
it will be in a rowdy barn. The Baltimore Ravens
just don't lose in their opener though, under John Harmon.
Why are you not going to the game planke, I
have no idea because I have kids, Arnie kids. I
have three kids in an ex wife. They all don't
have to go to college. Have I don't have a

(01:05:42):
sugar mama like you do? You know you do? You
got to carry the load, plank. How about this bringing
to Vegas taking the game because you know what, in
the end, that's cheaper than going to Disneyland. Yeah, da
tomorrow boys, we're getting braces. Yes, yeah, well year old girl.
Oh my gosh, you're all horrible. I will say this, David,

(01:06:05):
to be honest with you, I've allowed myself to build
up this hope. So I'm trying to get myself down early, right,
just kind of the great Uh? What was the Saturday
Night show on Fox? Mad TV? Had the bit that
was lowered expectations. That's kind of how I'm approaching things
on Monday. But probably at about five thirty tomorrow night,

(01:06:25):
I'll be out of my mind fired up so and
you'll probably be nervous around halftime because you'll think, like
good or run the football. Well, Derek, cars just don't
crash it. Yeah, they're they're plus four tomorrow. But as
far as tonight's in today's games, Kansas City, they won,

(01:06:45):
They beat Cleveland, did not cover. Thirty three twenty nine
was the final score. Miami wins that New England by
one point. Packers got smashed by the Saints, who were
dogs in that game. Denver was minus three. They wanted
New York against the Giants. Seen Jerry Judy a high
ankle spring he was carted off the field in that contest.
Chargers win in d C. Colts get wal up by
the Seahawks. Cardinals over Tennessee Keyler Murray five touchdowns, Lions

(01:07:10):
in the back door cover. How about that in week
one they scored sixteen in the fourth quarter and they covered.
But they lost to San Francisco three Bengals and over
time beat the Vikings and the Steelers sixteen over the
Buffalo Bills on the road. How about that? How about
that never doubt, never doubt Mike Tom. I mean you

(01:07:31):
never doubt him, but you doubt everything that Arnie puts
on paper. Wow, I mean who does that? Like? You
just you put those things out there. Five games and
just five games, you know, guaranteed listener party. Everyone has
to say I'm automatic, I'm never gonna miss a pick.
But I mean, come on, I mean you and Aaron
torres Man, you guys are like Rob Parker says he

(01:07:53):
was fifteen and coming into today. That's what he said.
He put it out on Twitter. Wow, I mean this
is this season, not obviously he said for the last
three years on opening weekend he's gone five and oh
five and oh and five and oh. Well, you know
what he has done or not done, is he hasn't
done well in the Super Bowl and Brady's in it. Yeah,
sure he should be technically in Mexico right now, since

(01:08:16):
I made that proclamation a few years back. Anyways, gentlemen,
back to you guys, Thanks a lot. David gascon in
tonight for Steve de Sagratarni Plank on Fox Sports Radio.
We got Arnie's picks coming up a little bit later
on though, because he was one, three and one in
his picks last week and he's trying to claim two
and three. That means I get to pick now too.
I want to let you know something. I've hit my

(01:08:37):
two upset picks in football in college football the last
two weeks. Week one Virginia Tech, Week two took p
y U last night. I've missed both of my locks.
It makes no six whatso I've hit two outright up
said winners, and I've missed both of my locks. But
college football will dive into in just a bit. All right,
let me have some of your tweets. It's the best
way to stay in touch with the show on a
Sunday night at a stinking Genius one. That's at Thinkingenius one.

(01:09:01):
I'm at Plank Show. I do like my man Jason
Diamond trying to hype me up a little bit. A
five fifteen kickoff in Vegas Monday afternoon. That will be
so fun. If Gus Bradley actually upgrades the defense, I
could see a twelve and five or better season. Now
wake up, Dorothy Anima is calling. But in Vegas? How great?

(01:09:22):
Is that, Um, yeah, it's not great. I would assume
that traffic can be problematic in Vegas around that time,
and uh, Mark Davis said that one of his big
deals at a stadium is ingress and egress. I'm gonna
go out on a limb and say that that's not
going to be a good thing tomorrow for the for

(01:09:43):
the Raiders game. Man, our guy Rieka is having a
tough one. I watched zero football today. My Vikings lost
in overtime, but a handful of my co workers said
that Dalvin shouldn't have been down and getting fumble in overtime.
What do you think, Arnie, Yeah, they he didn't. His
butt was down, so they got the call there. I

(01:10:04):
didn't know why they but I'm not sure why it
didn't get overturned. So maybe they didn't have a good
angle of it and they didn't think it could reverse
the call. But I'm not sure why. I don't know
with all the different cameras, how we can't have an
angle of something. We can zoom down and see the
kind of little broken part of a cleat that might
be touching the white of the sideline and say, oh,

(01:10:26):
incomplete passed, but on something that seemed that obvious. Come on,
are you gotta get that right? By the way, what's
the last time, as you read that tweet, Um, you
didn't watch any football on a Sunday that you have
to like go to a wedding or so even if
I went to a wedding, I'm ducking out to watch
something somewhere. You at the bar on my phone on something.
You know, but back in the day though, twenty years ago,

(01:10:48):
you couldn't do something like that. Well, I would also say,
we're pretty blessed that we get paid to do this, right,
There's there's a lot of people that might have had
work to double just getting off work line, so that
the answer would be never would be you never went
to a wedding during football? Nobody gets married? Oh god, no,

(01:11:08):
you kidding you? Are you are cast aside? If you
decide that you're married on a Friday, Well, what we
can't get married on a Friday, aren't In Oklahoma high
school football, Okay, everyone figures out the bye weeks is
what happens. And so you'll have, um a laundry list
of weddings in college football country. People in Tuscaloose, in

(01:11:31):
Baton Rouge and listen and can attest to it. I
know you guys don't care in California, but even though
you should because you is really good and that Pack
twelve guru guy might be right or going to beat
the snot out of Ohio State on Saturday. But with
that said, you find a bye week. O colomally has one,
so I only have to go to one wedding that's
in about seven weeks. Yeah, yeah, I do have one
on Saturday, but arnie be they time them out, they

(01:11:52):
get there, they get their weddings with bye weeks. Uh
hate your boy. Maybe the Giants can hit up that
man and kid to come back and play. Maybe that
a good idea. It's been a minute. They don't. That's
my biggest frustration with the Giants right now is not
that they got their heads kicked in by the Broncos today.
But all right, let's let's say that this continues to

(01:12:13):
go from bad to worse with Daniel Jones, who's their
backup quarterback, aren'tye? Do you even know it? Rut off top,
I don't know, my head. No, it can't be that
much worse. It's Mike Glennon. Oh jeez, yeah it is worse,
so they don't is a veteran. I mean, listen, if
Derek Carr stinks, at least you can turn to Marcus Mariota.

(01:12:35):
You know, if if they several places have invested in
a backup quarterback, a lot of them younger guys like
adjustin Fields in Chicago, you get you get my Even
if Andy Dalton's the backup, he's better than Mike bleeping Glennon.
And they don't even have anyone that you can turn
to and say, hey, at least this guy might give
us a better chance to win you with Daniel Jones,
I have my mother. Who's gonna be the first team

(01:12:56):
to pick up Cam Newton? You know? Is that somebody?
And somebody's and uh fern at expos three, which is
a great Twitter handle? Right. We have to congratulate Maliya
Shaka on becoming the second female NFL referee. Loyal listener,
I didn't even notice that today. We should have made

(01:13:19):
a much bigger deal of it. Well done. Oh by
the way, lou Riley hits us up on Twitter. Can
you please have Arnie issue an apology to Jimmy Gen?
What did I say about Jimmy G? I think you've
you've destroyed him so much. I think you've already forgotten
about it. I think you had him in the very
mediocre range as a quarterback. Well, first of all, yeah,

(01:13:40):
he had a good game, but it wasn't like he's
phenomenal or anything like that. I mean, pumped the brakes
on Jimmy g There. I disagree he was phenomenal today.
You know what, you want to bet that he loses
his job this year? I'll bet you that, Arnie. You
welch on every single bet you may. I mean, you've
you've you've had to quit your job at the very

(01:14:02):
least since we've done this show probably twenty times, once
a year, twice a year. Okay, I'll bet you he
doesn't lose his job. I'll bet she starts. You don't
think you know he's gonna started all season all season,
are you? I'm just telling you right. He looked good today.
The reason that game was close late had nothing to
do with Jimmy Garoppolo. He and he was only sacked once.

(01:14:24):
And yes, I know Trey Lance came in for basically
five plays, but Jimmy Gee's the guy. I think they're
gonna have more packages for him. I'll tell you why.
The one thing I did come away from week one
almost demanding is Justin Fields has got to play for Chicago.
Absolutely going to take before they say, and if right right,

(01:14:45):
we need to see other people. And if Matt Naggy
continues to get away from the running game like they
did tonight, then I think that he's going to be
gone sooner rather than later. But again, maybe they have assurances,
maybe they have some sort of guarantee that we're gonna
bring you back regardless. But that was ugly tonight. All right,
when we come back, we'll start sprinkling in some of
the post game sound as it's rolled in. Our editors

(01:15:07):
behind the scenes are grinding. We'll take you to the
locker rooms next with Arnie and Plank on a Fox
Football Sunday. It's Arnie and Plank on a Fox Football Sunday,
brought to you in part by Discover who Matches All
the cash back you earn on your credit card at
the end of your first year. It's amazing because discovers
accepted at places in the US to take credit cards.

(01:15:30):
To learn more, Discover dot com, slash yes um to
a tweets your great tonight, keep them coming in your
reaction a Week one of the National Football League season
at Stink Ingenius one at Plank Show at Fox Sports Radio. Uh.
And of course I've got tons and tons of audio
to get to. I do like this though, from Calvert,
who writes, Russell Wilson is in his tenth here, and

(01:15:53):
he's looking good out there and impressing Tyler Locket with
that incredible overhead overhead cat that was amazing look out
for the Seahawks in this season. I actually had a
ton of notes that I wrote out on the Seahawks
and I haven't just got to him yet, but his
passer rating was one fifty two point three Russell Wilson.
Wow day um. You know it's funny because when the

(01:16:14):
buzz started this offseason that he might be on the block.
I think some some people quick, oh, he's not worth it.
I wouldn't trade for him. Others I'd give up everything
for him. But let's let's remember. I know I'm a
I know we're prisoners of the moment. I know we're
knee jerking like crazy here in Week one, but he
started last year like this. You know, remember he was

(01:16:36):
an m VP candidate through maybe even aren'tie as far
as what week eleven, maybe week ten? So I'm with you.
I thought he looked great. Dude can still cook, you know,
let rust cook that you hear. But I'm kind of
taking await and see approach on Seattle today. I thought
Indy looked horrible. Chris when when they were when those
rumors came out about that, he was, you know, out

(01:16:58):
there for the taking. And of course there were the
four teams listed. Even at that point, I don't even
think Seattle was asking three number ones and three number
two's for Russell Wilson, who's a lot better than Deshaun Watson.
Would you would you be upset? Um if the Dolphins
don't have the season that you won't you always expect
him to go to the super Bowl. So mine's never
gonna have the season you want unless they go to

(01:17:19):
the super Bowl. But if they don't get there and
they do train for DeShawn Watson this offseason, I don't
want him on the team, not on my team. I
think we gotta wait and let this. This legal system
has got to play out. I mean it has to now.
I know they've got a date coming up. I think
in uh in a month. So this season this easy
isn't even gonna be a situation that's played out before

(01:17:41):
the season. Can I just say something because I know
Bill Belichick said this what he talks about who they
want on their team, and he goes, first thing is
when we signed somebody, we want a character guy. Is
there any coach in football that's not gonna say we
want a character guy? Which leads me to say, Um,
all of a sudden, Deshaun Watson's a character guy, whether
he's found guilty or not, I'm not so sure I
want a guy like that. I might team I don't
know if he's a character guy. I don't think he's

(01:18:02):
a character guy. So why why am I gonna go
after him, especially at the quarterback position that's paying him
a boatload of money? Because you want to win, like
all the top six quarterback in the league. That's why.
That's the only reason why. I mean again, you can
talk about character guys. Listen, we all thought he was
a great dude. Remember he paid for the salaries of

(01:18:24):
everyone last year, and the only part of the pandemic
that worked in the Texans organization took his paycheck and
paid for him was called the Michael Jordan's of of
football coming out of Clemson by his college coach. So yeah,
he had us all fool right, and and he came out.
I've been rehabbed. I've been saying, so, yeah, he's he's
gonna end up going somewhere and playing. It's just because
he's that good. But this all came out. I first

(01:18:46):
thought that this guy was never gonna play in the
NFL again. Um, he's never gonna play for the Texans again.
We certainly have seen that. I'm curious to see who
is going to go ahead and and pick him up.
I think I think you're looking at four teams right now. Listen,
I'm not getting too carried away. Are are bearing too
many teams after week one? And we're gonna hear I'm
saying that as I'm losing my mind ready to cash

(01:19:06):
in over bad on the Pittsburgh Steelers and eight and
a half wins over what they did today. But there's
four teams that are constantly brought up in the Deshaun
Watson conversation, and number one, number one in that is
your Miami dolphense. So you better start preparing yourself, man,
Miami Philadelphia, Vegas and who am I leaving out Denver? Always?
I think you get throw in Philadelphia after what hurts today? Again,

(01:19:28):
that's one game. One game against a bat Atlanta team. Uh,
real quick, let's let's get Mike Tomlin in here. Obviously,
this team overcame some adversity from the start of this game,
faces a lot of challenges today. Man, Robert Spillane got
hurt and warm ups. Buddy Johnson got an opportunity to
play in his first NFL game he didn't even anticipate
doing so. It's a great team victory. Man. I'm appreciative

(01:19:48):
of the efforts coming in the environment against the a
f C champs and got to win in September. Not
really thankful for it. Sorry, coach. Now you're gonna hear
a lot of this. This is Sean McDermott, the head
coach of Buffalo, who was on the losing side of
a lot of coaches pointing a finger at themselves. On
the head coach, and that's what I'm the leader of
this football team, and you got to do a better job.
I gotta do a better job in that situation. I'm

(01:20:09):
just gonna leave at that. Yeah, there, you go, I'm
just gonna leave it. I gotta do a better job
in that situation. What situation? Losing? What though are you
talking about? I don't even know what you're talking about.
I gotta do a better job. You just gotta do
a better job. We're gonna leave it at that. I
could you imagine if everybody said that the quarterback, I
just gotta do a better job. We're just gonna leave
it at that. That's that's why I would be horrible

(01:20:31):
if I was an athlete, because every time they're like, well,
we're wrong, I gotta be better, And I mean, what
else could you say? I? Because I had opened my mouth,
they go, well what what? What else can I do?
They're dropping passes like aguilar, I can't I can't do
I can't throw it, catch it. Wow, you you you'd
be very popular with your teammates. Around one more quick
one here, I think we got about thirty seconds left

(01:20:52):
to the hour. But here Sean McDermott on his defense.
And now they performed I thought overall defense. You know,
they played hard, and they did some good things. Some turnovers,
some opportunities on some turnovers that we gotta we gotta
take advantage of felt they gave us some field position
and in the first half in particular. But give them credit.
They made some plays, right, They made some place down
the stretch in particular, and to put the game away,
Yeah they did. Pittsburgh was big time today and knocking

(01:21:14):
off the Buffalo Bills who taken out in Week one,
and now what they're gonna fall to Owen two because
they got Miami next week. Well here from Brian Flores
to Mac Jones will recap that Pat's Dolphins game next
on Fox. Ah, we're hitting the locker rooms in our
final hours. All the sound and recaps from an incredible

(01:21:37):
Week one. It's all got an impossible question for you too. Okay,
let me mention the sponsor real quick I Discover Discover
matches all the cash back you earn on your credit
card at the end of your first year. It's amazing
because Discovers accepted in places in the US that take
credit cards. To learn more, Discover dot com slash yes one,

(01:21:59):
kneels and report limitations apply. Yes, No, I was just
thinking about this. I mean, is there any mostly quarterbacks?
But is there any quarterback that played well last year
that benefited from no crowds in the stands that maybe
take a step backwards because there is crowds, Or is
there a quarterback that's gonna play better because there are
a crowd. I I don't know. I'm trying to think
if there was anybody that benefited because of a lack

(01:22:21):
of I guess anybody that had to go to sea
at all, whatever it. But I don't know who really benefited.
It wasn't just like one collective group everybody benefited, or
obviously there might have been some players that benefited more
than others. There is a lot of people who theorize
that Derek Carr benefited a lot because yeah, he could

(01:22:42):
hear the defensive audibles that were called, and he's kind
of a tape junkie, so he was able to he
was able to see what they were doing. So and
again that that's um. I think I got to give
credit to Victafer on that one from the athletic who
had brought him up some And I'm glad Todd brought
this up last hour because we hadn't talked a lot

(01:23:02):
about this game. Some pointed at the rookie quarterbacks last year,
right Burrows, even though he got her justin Herbert well
to to Yeah, um that they might struggle a bit,
but I thought all three looked pretty good, even though
two of them were playing Wait no, Tuah was in
New England, one of them was was playing at two
and we're playing at home. One was on the road.

(01:23:23):
But I mean, I thought they all look pretty damn
good today. I know Herbert's and numbers aren't gonna wow you,
but I was reading John Middlecoff. He was watching the
tape and he's like, man, this guy looks like he's
in control, and and he did from what I was
able to see of that game. So I think it's
a great question. Well, I was wathering if two was
going to be a little bit rattled because again we
didn't have fans, so, um, I wonder if that was

(01:23:44):
going to make a difference at all. It didn't seem
like he was rattled by the crowd, but um, then again,
it was like he had the best game out there either,
right right, And and we'll see, we'll see what happens
whenever they they're back home next week, so he'll benefit
from that. I wonder how Buffalo is gonna handle the heat,
and I'm sure it's gonna be hot in Miami next week.
But you know, overall, I just Arnie, I just thought

(01:24:04):
it was cool to have crowds back. I know some
people were given Washington fans grief because they didn't necessarily
have the biggest crowd that you could have for a
football for a National Football League game, but still I
don't care, man, I I was just happy. I thought,
you know, from the we've had three weeks of the
college football season so far, and I was in a
full capacity place Saturday night Norman at Gaylord Family Oklahoma

(01:24:26):
Memorial Stadium, and it was rocking. It was awesome. Then
to turn on the TV today and you see the
first thing I see is Bill's Mafia tailgating outside of
their game. I mean, I I know the nostalgia for
everyone getting back has been there for a while now,
but just with it officially starting the regular season, I
thought it was cool as well. What did you think

(01:24:46):
about the quarterbacks? Well, first of all, we talked about
Matthew Stafford going from the Lions to the Rams. Um
finally he gets the shine and you see, really the
quarterback that he really is was Rob Parker and Bertie
and he just ripped those guys Um I mean, and
look at the somebody like Sam Donald when goes from
the Jets allows the team to Carolina is a much

(01:25:06):
better team. But I thought he was just okay. So um,
I'm wondering if i've over you know, valued Sam Donald.
But I thought once he was done with the Jets
that he was just going to blossom. And I thought
the same thing with Matthew Stafford also, Well, I think
again Carolina won the game and he wasn't really asked

(01:25:27):
to do too much. Did you watch much of that game?
I mean no, I mean there was so I'm again
I'm like you, I'm watching red Zone, so I I can't.
I can't just put on one game and then by
pass all the others. I gotta watch red Zone. But
I mean that's where I think you're being unfair. Okay,
And again I'm probably guilty of this too. It's impossible
to sit here and do a show and have a
thought out X and do we broke down the tape

(01:25:49):
take on every single team. We're called upon to have
opinions and get perspective on this. But that's why I'm
a little bit hesitant with Sam Donald, because I felt
like every time that I would watching Carolina today, I
felt like he was making plays, was he getting him
in the right sets? Was he audible into what they needed?
I I don't know. I don't know, but they won

(01:26:09):
the game, and I thought that was a pretty big
deal for him to kind of get that that issue
behind him now having to play his former team. And
and then I saw that Zack Wilson got off to
a really bad starter. There was like two of seven
or something, and then he picked it up a little bit.
I'm starting to say to myself, maybe this kid's not
half bad. Certainly, he's got a hell of an arm man,
what a cat, and he's god maybe he's not all
that bad. That doesn't mean he's going to win with

(01:26:31):
the Jets, but um, maybe he's a lot better quarterback
that I give him credit for. Again that you're not
gonna be able to tell, but he's on the Jets
right Well, here's a couple of postgame thoughts from the
aforementioned Zack Wilson, who kind of laid out something I
think we all know. Tough, but it's part of the job,
right I So alas signed to the quarterback, I feel
like I'm getting better, you know, experiencing having stuff in
your face. You gotta you gotta be able to play.

(01:26:51):
You know, it's part of the quarterback position. Can't just say,
you know that this pressure, I can't do my job.
You know. That's that's why quarterbacks is a tough position
to come by. So you know, it's good for me
and I'm just gonna keep working and getting better at that. Yeah. Meanwhile,
he was talking about getting hit. He got hit a
lot today. Robert Robert Sala, the first year at Jets
head coach, kind of went in deep on what he

(01:27:12):
saw from Zach Wilson. There's so many miss opportunities, even
on his end with regards to just letting a rip
and getting the ball out and been on his interception,
just didn't put the zip that he needed to put
on it. Worst case scenarios. Corner was in great shape.
He probably would have bet it, bet it down anyway,
but tossed up a lollipop. You know. So it's a
lot of great things for him to learn off of it,
and we're still really excited about it. I believe we
got a good one. And the Thunn he was a
little harsh there, Chris, No, no, no, Yeah, he was.

(01:27:34):
I thought, I'm like, what what I would have said,
what the hell's your problem? But you got a quarterback
that's what ten years old and he's making his first
start of the NFL, and you're gonna go ahead, and
and and and start with that's the way you're gonna
start the relationship. I don't like that. Easy, not easy,
but but he did. He did pat him on the
back a little bit. Here. Kid's been hit before. He
took some shots today, obviously, but he got back up.

(01:27:54):
He showed resolve and he's fearless. He really is. There
you go. I mean, you got any Urban Meyer And
is Trevor Lawrence ever talk? I'm just curious, like, oh, oh,
I've got some Does he ever get upset? That guy?
I don't know. He always seems like he's a pretty
happy dude, but he doesn't. Here's Trevor Lawrence on his Offensively,
they do have they have a pretty good pass rush.

(01:28:14):
But I think our guys up front did a really
good job. I and we think we threw the ball
fifty times and I thought our guys did a great
job up front. There you go, there's your Trevor Lawrence.
By the way, that was that was an ugly football
game that Houston ended up winning. Thirty seven and twenty
one shocked me a little bit. Jacksonville a little bit,

(01:28:37):
A lot of bit, a lot of it. Yeah, that
Jacksonville was the favorite, and um, they just got steamroll.
Now I knew it was gonna be maybe tough early
on for him, but they totally got steam rolled in
that game. Fifty one, three hundred and thirty two yards,
three touchdowns, three picks, but it was only sacked once.

(01:28:58):
I'm not big on getting too carried away with the
quarterback rating, but it's QBR was fourteen. You want a
little angry Urban Meyer, here's herb after the game. So inexcusable.
The things that need to be fixed, and you know,
three preseason games, you think we'd have that fix. So
that's something that we're gonna guestimate you would not see
that again. That's inexcusable. Thanks, thanks, well, thanks, It shows you.

(01:29:26):
It's interesting because it shows you that mindset that has
to shift from me in a college coach to a
pro coach. Exactly. Yeah, we we played three preseason games.
We're gonna get a fixed. We thought we had a fix, Like, hey,
Southwest Northeast Louisiana is not coming through those doors. You're
gonna have to play real people now. Meanwhile, I kind
of like this from Urban Meyer. Have all got our

(01:29:47):
ask kick for let's tighten up and go. I believe
in those teams. I believe in our staff and come
back to work. You want to know the last time
Urban Meyer was down by twenty something points in the game,
Oh gosh, twenty ten against Alabama. That's that's impressive. I
think it was twenty four to three in that game

(01:30:08):
at one point or something. Wow, he's impressive. I mean, listen,
he's got an impressive resume. He's never done this before.
And I've been preaching this to you all off season
and you kept telling us what hall of Fame coach,
it's a different world. Well you know what though, I mean, well, yes,
he's a Hall of Fame coach. With him, maybe he's
not that great of a coach like we thought he was.
Then if you can't rebuild a team and looks so

(01:30:29):
crappy and during it, um, maybe you're not as great
as everybody. You know. Like I said, it's easy for
Phil Jackson when you got Shock and Kobe and Michael
and Scottie, Oh yeah, you're a great coach, said, When
you're a gym of the New York Knicks and they
steak all of a sudden, you're not such a great guy,
you know. I think that's a little bit harsh. I
think that's a little bit cold, because he did have

(01:30:52):
some pretty damn good players that helped him out. You
just don't get to go out and pick your own
players every single week in the UH, in the National
Football League like you do every sing. Yeah. I mean,
he's gotta he's got to compete for free agents. They've
got to develop talent um. You gotta draft smart. You know.
As a college coach, you just got to go make
sure that the five stars mom likes you and you're

(01:31:12):
in good shape, and you're gonna you're gonna end up
getting all the rock stars. Um, let's see who else
we want to hear from. I've got I've got a
little Matt Ryan. From his disappointing performance today, which might
have been the worst performance of the day, we just
needed to do a better job later in the game
of getting into getting into some drives, getting you know,
a couple of first downs to get rolling because I
think early in the game. We did that, and you

(01:31:33):
saw that I'm starting to finish runs and runs coming
out to back end for big games. You want to stay? Yeah,
he sounded upset. Do you want to stay with the
quarterback that played bad? You know who we haven't heard
from today, Aaron Rodgers. Do you know who we do?
You know who we heard from all pre game long,
Aaron Rodgers. We had our eighties six official sit down

(01:31:55):
with Aaron Rodgers before the kickoff today. Aaron not not
dogging Aaron Andrews binning stretch of the imagination. But oh
my gosh, um, Aaron Rodgers after not talking all off season,
sure as hell is making up for it getting into
the season. Unfortunately, his play on the field didn't back
it up this one game. You know, we played bad.

(01:32:15):
I played bad offensively, We didn't execute very well. One
game we got sixteen to one game? Aren't if you
knew exact if you could have a crystal ball and
you know the Green Bay management and you can see
that you were going to get clover today, would you
have traded Aaron Rodgers in the off season just started
to rebuild Now, I don't think that they would need
Jerk off one game. I would hope they would go

(01:32:37):
after Detroit. They got a murderous schedule coming up. Well,
they obviously had a murderous schedule today because they got destroyed. Um,
but Aaron Rodgers trying to keep that positive attitude. This
is a good, uh, good kick in the you know where.
Hopefully get us going in the right direction, going back
home and playing division opponent next week. Who's the Green
Bay Packers? Is that it wasn't a Jeopardy question. I'm sorry,

(01:33:00):
my bath he put in phrase of a question. We
got a kick in the you know where? What is
what is in the backside? Erin Somo should have yelled
that out, what is the backside the kick in the
you know where? I was wondering how quickly it would
become about air and not preparing this offseason, not being
around the team. That took approximately three quarters. I heard

(01:33:22):
him bringing up on the broadcast like, man, you know,
maybe it's a byproduct of him not being around a
lot this summer and he's been a different offseason. But hey,
the crazy thing is that, you know, as much as
we dogged on Jordan's love and how apparently they were
supposed to be hiding him and never playing him again.
He actually pretty good when he got in there. Well, yeah,

(01:33:42):
I understand that he was okay. But as for Aaron Rodgers,
maybe you shouldn't zen and meditate and do all that
stuff so hard. Maybe maybe just one day of meditating
instead of like three months, you know what I mean,
Just just just do it for a day and move on.
What one more quarterback who played bad? Then we'll get
the positives when we come back to the locker room

(01:34:04):
in Minnesota. Kirk Custis games are gonna come down to
play here and play there, and um, we battled, uh,
you know, did some positive things, but there will be
plenty to go back and improve upon. Yeah, I like that.
I will say a bold prediction, at least from this,
I don't think he's going to finish the season as
their starting quarterback. But I also was a little bit

(01:34:25):
concerned to see that the guy that I thought could
potentially take his job was inactive today. And I don't
know if that's ever a good sign. Arnie in week
one when a first round or excuse me, when you're
one of your top picks, because they didn't take Kelluman
in the first round, and I know he battled Covid
this summer, but he's inactive. He's not even your backup

(01:34:47):
quarterback for Minnesota. That might mean he's not quite as
close as someone like yours truly would like to believe
with him getting on the field. I also thought Cousins
was pretty good today too, So I'm you know, I'm
not gonna pin this. They've got so many weapons to uh.
Dalvin Cook didn't run the ball well at all, but
they've got the receivers, they've they're loaded. It's just that defense.

(01:35:07):
It is so sketchy, you know, And as you as
we've talked about quite a bit, the fumble was a
really bad call that that win against Dalvin Cook, right,
I mean, we all agreed that probably should have stayed
with Minnesota, should have given given him a chance to
win the game. But that was a blown call. Right,
we all agree on that, right, I I get. I
asked Jo, I'm not sure if it was just a
bad camera angle they didn't have the write camera angle,

(01:35:29):
or they couldn't overturn it up. I'm not sure why
they didn't do it though. All Right, I got highlights
when we come back and more from the late games.

I want to get a couple of quick tweets in here.
Let's do it, boy writes Jimmy g was operating with
the precision of a surgeon today, but again the Lions

(01:37:17):
were his patient. Ye that's where you gotta stop with everything.
Who really does stink? After week one? Well yeah, but
I gotta give the Lions credit for coming back a
little bit and not even a little bit, a lot
of bit. And yeah, some people said they end up
getting the back door cover That line was like seven
and a half last week. David gascon set it. Okay,
so I'm assuming it um one above eight eight and

(01:37:40):
a half. So but you know, it's keep me intrigued
for the Lions for next next week to see if
maybe that was just the one time thing or maybe
they're a little bit better mac mad Macdaddy. It's a
lot of seas mac rites. The Chargers are a legit
Super Bowl contender. Thoughts. Well, they didn't choke it away.

(01:38:01):
I mean, they just beat Washington. They're gonna be a
sub five hundred team, so don't get carried away. Um,
but they did kind of look good, you know what
I mean. Usually they choked those games away and we
laugh at them and we go, ah, there they do
it all over again. Herbert really look great. He had, um,
you know, just picked up where he went from last year.
So I'm curious to see how good they are. But
that that's a tough division, Yeah it is. Uh. Here's

(01:38:23):
justin Herbert afterwards talking about winning on the road and
winning in the Eastern time zone. For us to go
on the road and for us to answer some questions
on the road, I think that's big for us because
you know, our record wasn't great on the road last year,
and it's a huge step up first game of the
year to be able to go on the road and
come away with a win, because they're never easy in
the NFL. Did you notice that it was on the road? Alright?
I heard I thought it was on Then here's Brandon Staley,

(01:38:46):
their first year head coach. I mean, you gotta be
able to win on the road in this league. In
the history of the NFL, there have been three teams
to make the Super Bowl that have a losing record
on the road. Okay, so if you want to do
anything in this league worth anything, you gotta be able
to win away from home. See what they talk about
in the pregame mediu I'm assuming I'm gonna I'm gonna
go out on a limb and I'm gonna say they

(01:39:07):
talked a lot about winning on the road. Highway to
Dale on Twitter, rights Arnie glad to hear somebody speak
up and saying I don't want to Shaun on the
Dolphins either. If to us not the answer, move on
to another quarterback besides Watson. Do you think fans want
UM players that are good character um or if they're

(01:39:30):
just so good you'll just deal with the bad character
people put them on the team. Oh that leads right
into Blazes tweet Blaze in case the legend rights. When
coaches say they want character guys, I think they mostly
defined character as busting your ass on the field and
studying film and to find it less in terms of
being a choir boy. I think he's right when they

(01:39:52):
say we want we want men of good character. I
don't think anyone's blowing too much spoke smoke up our
backs side, But maybe how they defined characters a little different,
like are you in the film room? Are you studying?
Do you love football? That's a character there looks vaccinated?
Have you been vaccinated? Right? But it's a great question,

(01:40:13):
you know, we we've talked about it a lot in
college football, like the Auburns of the world. Would you
risk your team going on five years probation and win
a national championship? Right? I mean, would you have a
problem if you're starting quarterback? Um was coming out and
I don't want to say coming out of jail, but
was Let's just say to Shawn Watson, I mean, would
those type of things bother you? Are you just all

(01:40:34):
about wins and losses? I don't know the losses bothering
now for Arizona, and it's just killing me. When a
thirteen in a row or something, so I'm ready to
get over. But even with that, I don't want those
poor quality guys on my team. I wouldn't want to
do that. I think, well, do you still celebrate those
Arizona basketball titles because I think we've learned there was
not the best quality guys. Don't don't do that. Well,

(01:40:57):
You're you're coming across a bit of a hypocrite here, Arenie.
I think that you would take some dudes that aren't
afraid of getting in a little trouble to win some
football games. Let's see what the little trouble is, uh,
Patrick Wrights? When is the last time old teams in
the NFC North started the season Tide at oh and one?
I don't know, but it was ugly? Ugly? Uh? And

(01:41:20):
I like this from Jason. Jason writes, the Browns are
now one twenty one and one on opening day since nine.
Think of the best defender they had didn't punch a
Chiefs coach in the first quarter. Yeah, that was weird. Yeah.
We we didn't talk about that game a lot because,
first of all, they I mean, I was watching a

(01:41:40):
little bit of that and I'm like, oh my goodness,
Cleveland's gonna win this game. They were dominating early. Kansas
City hung around. Of course, then Mahomes got hot, but
I thought Cleveland was gonna find somebody to pull that
thing out. Yeah, you know, um, Ronnie Harrison Junior had
that little episode. Miles Garrett spoke out in support of
his teammate after the game and said he should have

(01:42:02):
been the only guy ejacked in. H Garrett said, and
I quote, I saw Harrison, he was tangled up. I
saw him get pushed and he pushed, and I was like,
we don't need any of that for our team. We've
got to be smarter than that. But Louis should get
the treatment our player got. He should have been tossed
out of the game, just like Ronnie. I'm rewatching that

(01:42:24):
right now that you don't see that very often. Lewis
pushed him right into it. So yeah, that's he reached
right over the player to shove to shove the go
Ronnie Harrison Jr. There's another incredible note. You know, Patrick
Mahomes has never lost in September as he's eleven and
oh as a starting quarterback and said that's ridiculous. And

(01:42:46):
by the way, Arnie fifteen new starting quarterbacks in the
NFL as compared to Week one last year. Now, again,
that's a little bit skewed because a dude like Justin
Herbert was a starter at the end of last two year,
and you know a couple of guys like Matt Jones
has a starter this year. But fifteen, I remember we
had said an over under Adam Schefter. It actually actually

(01:43:09):
set the over under at sixteen, and we would go
through this, we'd go upro we'd go through the list
during the off season. Okay, who could be new here,
who could be new there? But the number comes up
just short sixteen fifteen. Excuse me, we thought sixteen fifteen
new starters as compared to last year. Does that seem
big to you? It did seem big, But I guess

(01:43:29):
it would have made a difference, like Chicago's a new starter,
whether it would have been Dalton or Fields, right, is
that what you're saying to me? Uh sure, okay, so yeah, yeah, yeah,
so it would have made a difference. But that's a
lot of new guy on them. The last time we
had that many new quarterbacks in the league. I can't
completely forgot that Mitch Drabinsky was their starting quarterback Laster.

(01:43:50):
I'm not joking. I was literally thinking, wait, hold on,
what So it's funny three of the four a f
C East teams are there in that mix, right with
the Dolphins and two up because he wasn't your opening
day starter right right, New England and the Jets you,
um you obviously. I think everyone in the a f
C North had the same starting quarterback that started the

(01:44:12):
opener last year. Houston, Jacksonville, Indianapolis. There six, Denver, make
it seven. Eight would be Los Angeles because, like we said,
justin Herbert the Eagles make it nine, Washington ten. I
mean this is and by the way, it's kind of mixed.
I think the numbers we have right now they went
like nine and six of the first year of starting quarterbacks.

(01:44:34):
But I don't know if any of them were more
impressive by doing less from a yardage total than Jamis Winston. ARENI.
We we haven't got to buy or sell yet. We'll
do it a little bit later on in the program.
What am I talking about next segment? But are you
are you kind of wanting to believe in New Orleans
a little bit here? I'm not so sure when you
do again, if you would have said, up, going for
a hundred fifty yards, I'm gonna say, well, you're going

(01:44:55):
to lose the game and you might even get claw
bird um, but you're not gonna win by three already five,
So I I'm not sure what to make of it.
It was quite impressive, But are you gonna be doing
that on a consistent basis? I don't think so. Yeah,
me neither. Alright, more sound more of your tweets and
buy yourself coming up next. But one final time tonight,

(01:45:16):
let's get caught up on everything going on in the
world of sports with David Gascott. What's going on Dave
Man and just uh just notice the show is just
you know, you bring it up. And Arnie has just
been down, down, down since it started. It's been a
tough weekend. It's been a tough weekend for you. I
don't worry about my Wildcats. Please, don't worry about that.
You get good in about ten years from now. You

(01:45:36):
can't feel good about Miami either. Why would not? They
wanted on the road of New England. What are you
a knuckle? Yeah? But I mean it was it was
a giveaway game. I mean, Damian Harris. Damon Harris fumbles
the football and you guys eat out a victory. I fling.
He'll take a victory no matter how they get it tomorrow.
You know that is this is this just you starting
every update with trashing our teams in every way. And

(01:45:59):
why did give didn't trash the Raider off? I didn't
trash the Raiders. I didn't trash the Sooners. Why did
they give off? You absolutely did your first up there.
I can't talk anyone can't play defense. You feeling that's
not trashing? Not just a lot of hosts are coming
here these days anyway, are wow? Yeah, they all got

(01:46:20):
that easy life. Um guys, everything's a wrapped in the NFL.
Bengals gonna win today with Joe Burrow at the helm
seven twenty four Jamaar Chase five grabs for a hundred
one yards and include a touchdown reception San Francisco over
Detrait forty one to thirty three. Jamie Winston did some work.
Jamis under center, takes it back straight back in the pocket.
He's looking deep. His name for Deonte Harris. He's open

(01:46:42):
and Deonte makes to catch See you later by touchdown. SATs. Yeah,
thirty eight to three was the final Stints get the victory,
and that one. Jamis Winston five touchdown passes in the affair.
Aaron Rodgers not so much two picks. He was sacked
also once as well. Meanwhile, Seahawks win an indeed charges
get a big victory in Washington, Sam Donald to t

(01:47:04):
d S Panthers nineteen Jets fourteen. Jaguars were favored at
Houston and then lost by sixteen thirty seven and twenty
one Chiefs and Browns and a good one Patrick Mahomes
three touchdown passes, one on the ground as well. Nick
chub At fifteen carries eighty three yards and two scores,
but it was not enough. Chiefs thirty three, Browns twenty nine.
Dever wins at New York against the Giants. Jerry Judy

(01:47:25):
injured high ankle sprain, Rams club the Bearers to fourteen.
Major League Baseball a lot of games today, obviously, but
not a whole lot in terms of playoff implication. San
Francisco did beat the Cubbies again six to five, and
Dodgers won. They blanked the Padres eight to nothing. Max
Schers there fourteen and four this season with a to
seventeen e r A. Mets get the better of the

(01:47:47):
Yankees seven to six, and that contest Red Sox fall
in Chicago the South Side to the White Sox two
to one. Arnie Chris, it was a hate saying. This
was a pleasure to uh to be working with you
guys tonight. See, this is why I'm not allowed in
the studio. I had karate chop. Also, because you live

(01:48:08):
in Vermont would be another thing. Real quick, before you
get out of here, you find people how they can
catch Todd for him. And because Todd is great enough
to come on with us every single Sunday night, but
he does the YouTube show now right, Yeah, yeah, they
got to the Bet the Board podcast and then every Friday,
nine o'clock am Pacific, twelve o'clock Eastern. Uh, they'll post

(01:48:28):
a YouTube video Bet the Board pregame show, UM, and
it's it's got everything college football, the National Football League.
They get guests obviously some in site and it's quick.
It's quick hitter since about thirty to forty five minutes.
And then of course the podcast or every uh Monday,
Wednesday and Thursday involved just you know, listen, I'm curious, um,

(01:48:52):
Kennedy Brooks next week, is he gonna get some touches please?
Against Nebraska? Yes? I mean he had what eight? Yes
your day? Yeah? Well they they only have two scholarship
running backs, so they're gonna put them in bubble wrap
pretty quick whenever they whatever, they're playing a team that
they put seventy on. I think Kennedy Brooks is gonna
be the bell cow next week. I think that's that's

(01:49:13):
if you're playing. If you're talking college fantasy football, right, yes,
there you go, yes, but don't sleep on Eric hey Man,
he's looking good. Hand wanted to transfer from Tennessee and
that's right. They got four of them on this incredible
Three from Tennessee, one from Arizona. Then Marley took a
football player from Aeric. I do like Mimes a lot. Mims.

(01:49:35):
Mims wasn't productive a whole lot, at least the run
wasn't on him. But I like Mims a lot. Started
going to play in the NFL. Play in the NFL.
Think David YouTube, let's play a little buyer cell here quick, Arney.
That's college football talk. Remember when you guys used to
be good in college football and you can talk about it,
remember what I used to talk college football? Yes, right, yeah,
you used to used to care about it. Now you
have no reason to care about it. All right, Um,

(01:49:57):
buyers I mentioned jamis, are you buying or selling to
this team? When they get Michael Thomas back, are gonna
find even another level in New Orleans? Right now? I
don't even know if they have to find another level,
to be honest with, I think the level they're at
right now, if they can get maintain that, that's gonna
be just fine. Um. I like the Saints in this game.
I was like one of the few ever he was
taking the package in this They may be the best

(01:50:20):
team in the division. If we're gonna do the knee
jerk reaction, it will come down between the Saints in Tampa.
But man, they look really good. But more important, they
look good defensively, which is unbelievable. All right, Um, buy
or sell? Arizona's legit? Oh yeah, they're legit. You can't
you can't go on the road and whin like that
if if you're not legit. Plus, not only did they

(01:50:42):
do that, um, they held Tennessee the thirteen points at home,
which is great. And Henry to what was it fifty
eight yards rushing when we looked at up earlier. So
I remember the last matter a matter of fact, I
remember seeing the stat that like he had like two
yards rushing or something like that. He was just getting stopped. Um,
I gotta give them all the credit in the world.
And also Kyler Murray had a great game. So with

(01:51:04):
the with the fourth, well, not a great game, let's
say about a B game, but um, he just looked
good out there on the four touchdowns, I'm buying that
the Cardinals are for real. Yeah, I'm buying that for sure.
What the hell is your grading scale? The dude through
for two hundred and eighty nine yards four scores and
or in for twenty yards and another touchdown was responsible

(01:51:25):
for five touchdowns like their team on thirty eight thirteen
on the road. I guess the team that I've been
told by listening to Fox Sports Radio is a Super
Bowl lock in the Tennessee Titans. And he gotta be
gets up. What the hell are you talking about? We
have a lot of people on Fox Sports that was
jumping out the Tennessee Titan bandwagon. Um before a week

(01:51:46):
before this first game. I want how many people want
to jump out off. Now, hey, buy yoursell panic time
in Indie. No, no, no, no, I'm not. I mean,
you played a damn good team and matter of fact,
it was you held him. You made some uspens at halftime,
but it was twenty one points by Seattle the first half.
I thought they did a pretty good job. No, I
don't think it's padding time at all. Um, you know,

(01:52:07):
obviously it's just gonna take a little while and to
get up the snuff. And you know we were worried
about their quarterback situation before the start of the season anyway,
with the whole COVID thing, and Carson went so, Um, no,
I'm not ready to paddock just yet. No, not at all.
Here's what Carson Wentz said afterwards. I know the handful
of plays I went back that I could have, you know,
got us in the right protection and help helped us out.

(01:52:30):
So you can never take it right at face value.
We gotta go learn from it, learned from the tape.
That's on all of us as a team. You know,
we just didn't play complimentary football. You know, when the
defense had stops three and out, it's the turnovers. Offensively,
we didn't capitalize and we gotta do better at that. UM,
but that's a good football team. We're gonna learn from
this one and then real quick. Frank Reich, the Colts
head coach, afterwards, life is full of disappointments, and it was.

(01:52:51):
It was extremely disappointing. We did not perform well enough
to get a win on a home opener, and so
we got to own that as coaches and players and
learned from and get better. Yeah, there's your boy, Frank Ryck,
head coach of the Colts. Parney by yourself, the Houston
Texans might not be horrific. Uh No, I'm not gonna

(01:53:11):
buy that. I still think they are going to be horrific.
I'm not gonna say a victory over Jacksonville, UM, and
I'm ready to annoint you that you're going to be
above five hundred team. I'm not buying that now. I'm
I'm gonna stay off that would and say I'll have
to see more of that, but as of now, I'm
not buying that. I do want to remind you that
you're dogging on a team that you've told us all

(01:53:33):
off season is going to be incredible in Jacksonville. So
I thought you might put a little bit more on this.
We would you like Jackson would you like to get
urban Meyer on the line and tell him his teams?
Thinks I'll sit here and listen. No, I would love to,
and you can praise him and tell him how he's
a Hall of Fame coach and it's gonna be great.
How about this? Then? Would you if you were given

(01:53:53):
the opportunity and they kept the over underlying, well, I
guess you you could have the opportunity, it doesn't change
over under it. Or would you now go back and
maybe put some coin on the Texans as an overbat,
knowing that they had one week one? Oh? Yeah, absolutely,
I think I would have done that one because again
you're looking at Jacksonville again, who knows if they don't

(01:54:15):
trip up the Colts. And now the Tennessee doesn't seem
like the Juggernauts that we thought they were. Um, yeah,
maybe not for four, but then again, they gotta win five.
But I wouldn't wouldn't be too bad on that, I guess. Okay, alright,
I'm I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm not disagreeing with you.
All right, two more quick ones and we'll get to
a break and then we'll get to our picks coming

(01:54:36):
up next. Our pick first time in eleven years. Well,
I usually just give you the stage, but you're not.
You didn't do good last week, thanking everything on it. Hey,
buy yourself reason for hope in Cincinnati buying of course,
I'm buying that. Well, how could you not buy that?
I mean, please, They almost tried to give it away
and they still wanted Usually the old Cincinnati team would

(01:54:58):
just give it away. It's like, here, you go, take
the win away from us. Um no, I'm buying it
for sure. They got the quarterback and um yeah. I
can't wait to see what they put up next week.
But I'm buying them. I'll give you one guess as
to what radio network this is from one year Harris
thirteenth year pro will snap it back to Kevin Hubert
year pro. The snap, but put down the swing of

(01:55:19):
the leg. The kicks good, the Bengals win it. I'm
the final playoff overtime, Evan McPherson placed it onto the
shoulders of his teammates. Has Centcinnati pulls it out seven
to four. It went a super Bowl, the Super Bowl. Hey, hey,

(01:55:43):
it's Cincinnati, man, they don't usually win. They've got it.
They've got a treat everyone like the greatest w ever.
And then one more buyer sell Arnie, go back to
Thursday Night. Believe it anymore in the Cowboys buying them
a little bit more after way, I am at you
buying them a little bit more. I was impressed. Um,
everybody jumped on Hampa. They were laying the points. We
all thought Tampa was going to boat raise them. And

(01:56:04):
now that I really saw that, Washington's no great shake.
So we know the giants just think out loud. Yeah,
I'm thinking, yeah, buy the Cowboys. I always bought into
the Cowboys. Um, but I was worried about Ducks nood alarm.
I guess he doesn't have nood alarm anymore. So I'm
gonna go with the Cowboys. When we come back, it's
aren't even planking on Fox Sports Radio, and it's time
for our picks doing next and we'll do a lot

(01:56:26):
on a Fox Football Sunday little segment for us. Then
Big Ben Mallor is into recap week one thanks to Bobo.
Great job, marathon Man. He gets up at four am
to go back to work, so great stuff from Bobo.
Lead a lap nursing his wounds not two down after
his Packers game. He's got fantasy football to keep him happy.

(01:56:47):
Uh if you missed either Peter Prekowski or Todd Firm
and you can find it on our podcast, which will
drop as soon as this show wraps up. Simply search
Fox Sports Radio weekends. Our show is right there. David
Scott awesome to have him on the Saga returns I
assume next week. And then the editors behind the scene,
Hustle and Lee's been training a new group and we

(01:57:08):
had all the sound we needed tonight and we truly
appreciate it. Though, I will say I was looking for
this quote. Did you see what Matt Naggy said when
they asked him about the use of justin fields? Quote?
We know where and when we're going to use justin fields?
How about to start the game? How about more? Would

(01:57:34):
be my my answer to that? Or take too much
time to good implement him in the offense? All right,
it's picks time, so uh stinking genius. I've got five
NFL picks, but take it away. Where do you want
to start? After a rough week after guaranteeing five and
oh well, I really feel good about this upcoming week.

(01:57:54):
So I'm I'm feeling real good. So we start off
with the Washington football team, lay in what is it like?
Three and a half four? Got the new new numbers
for next week? Three three four? Because uh, first of all,
we know the Giants are not a good team. Washington

(01:58:16):
bounces back, it's an important game. It's at home also,
and nothing Daniel Jones does scare me. So I'm gonna
go ahead and lay the four with Washington. So I
want to be clear here, You'll this isn't you putting
the bet in. You're mentioning it. Then on Friday you'll
see if this line shifts too much and completely change
your art. It's gonna shifts. So whatever whatever Friday's line

(01:58:39):
is that we'll we'll put the again. Okay, um, I
looked at this game, but I am staying in the
NFC East here. I am going to take the San
Francisco forty Niners as road favorites. I've got him at
three right now. At Philadelphia, I think they're gonna roll
the Eagles. Give me San fran minus three. Wow, they'll
believe in those Philadelphia Eagles, do you, my friend? I'm

(01:59:02):
all over the Cleveland Browns there are gonna be in
a bad mood after letting that game slip away against
Kansas City. We'll see how tough Houston is. I got
away a lot of lumber, but I'll lay the lumber.
Give me the Browns. I see twelve and a half?
Is that what you got there? Playing? Car? Are you
looking at bet online dot a G right now? Is
that where you're getting these? Yeah, I've got twelve and
a half, right, so there is what I've got. Give

(01:59:24):
me Cincinnati plus the three at Chicago. I just I
think they're gonna keep playing, Andy Dolt, I really do.
And I think the Bengals are gonna have some success.
Jambar Chase caught the football already, and you're getting three.
I think it's gonna be a tight game. The Bengals
might even be two and oh after this game. I
like taking first place teams, teams that are winning their division. Look,

(01:59:48):
don't worry about what they're doing. But the Dolphins are
leading their division and Buffalo did not impress me at all. Now,
Buffalo gotta go on the road, and you're gonna give
me three and half points with my Miami Dolphins. Twist
my arm I'm taking the three and a half points
in that one. I'll go opposite of you. I think
Buffalo rolls from next week straight and a half on
the road. Buffaloes are really if I remember correctly and

(02:00:10):
I did a little work on this, Buffalo is pretty
good on the road last year, I think Buffalo is
gonna smoke him next I was having angry rny next week.
That was last year. Alright, Uh, pick number four. You know,
I really would like to go ahead and take Jacksonville
one more time at home against Denver. But Denver's defense

(02:00:30):
looks so good that I'll say, what the heck? Give
me Denver minus and six against Jacksonville. Yeah. By the way,
Buffalo last year six and two on the road. I
wanted to take this pick, but not to try to
be too much of a of a homer, I'll stay
away from it, and I'll go ahead and take my
beloved Las Vegas Raiders minus six all excuse me, plus
six plus six on the road at Pittsburgh in week two.

(02:00:53):
I think they're gonna playhim tight. Yeah, that's a bad one, stupid,
you're bet with your heart there. Pick the Dolphins ever,
and let me show you how if the New England
Patriots really are because I'm taking the j E T
S Jets Jets Jets plus four points. That's not a
lot um at home, but I think they're go and
pull off the upside. Give me the Jets in that one,
and I'll take the Chargers minus three. It gets Dallas.

(02:01:17):
I think it's gonna be tight getting but I think
the Chargers are gonna win. I you know what, though,
I did like Dallas a lot with what I saw,
and I listen, we've heard the Herd promo all night.
I mean, you guys act like Tampa didn't win the
Super Bowl last year in Dallas was a team with
a losing record, So yes, you can be excited about
what they did. It gets Tampa Bay. And yes, Campa
Bay me made mistakes, but it's okay to come away

(02:01:39):
from a game that you didn't win and not want
to fire everyone. It's okay to come away from a
tough performance and not want everyone cut. And I'll tell
you what I felt good about Dallas, and I think
that's gonna be a heck of the game next week
between them and the Chargers. Are you ready for a
Week two already? Well, I'm more excited about Baltimore Vegas tomorrow.
I can't wait to you're gonna be I'm beyond it.

(02:02:00):
Well by next Sunday they'll probably be O and two,
but um, I'm beyond excited for tomorrow night. Josh Jacobs,
though a developing story tonight, he has been downgraded to
what doubtful for tomorrow night's game, which would mean a
lot of Kenyan Drake if he can't go. And how
about this number to get you guys all fired up

(02:02:23):
for the most diehard Rams fan I know, Big Ben Mallan,
Matthew Stafford twenty six twenty yards during the twenty one
yards three touchdowns, a one fifty six passer rating that
is the highest passer rating by any player in NFL
history in his debut with a new team, Bobo, Lee

(02:02:48):
David have great weeks for Arnie span your I'm Chris Plank.
We'll see you next Sunday night on Fox Sports Radio
