Speaker 1 (00:00):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Live from the
West Side. Don't say that at West Side, man, No
problem is Cavino and Rich What a way to wrap
up this day? Huh, what a way to wrap up
the weekend. I'm very excited because I'm a Niners fan,
so I'm ready for this Sunday night game in the background, dude,
(00:23):
not only all the football to talk about, but my
chunkies are taken on the Red Sox where it seems
like every game is a must win. Every game in
baseball is the most important game of the season. But
I'm not gonna harp on my Yankees unless something big happens.
Thought about winning the other hundred and fifty games of
the year. It's true. It's true because right now it's
(00:43):
all about football and all these you know, random scores
of today and all these takeaways and things that make
you go hmmm. All your obvious servations, all the observations
you made today, you can call us and say what's up.
We're trying to stay interactive here on Fox Sports Radio,
Fox Football Sunday with Cavino and Rich. The numbers eight seven,
seven nine on Fox eight seven seven, six six three
(01:06):
six nine. I'm Steve Cavino. That's what Davis. I'm pumped man. Clearly,
I feel like you were shot out of a rocket. Well,
you know what, I went back to the East Coast
to visit family for the first time in like two
years because of the whole pandemic thing. That whole thing.
Yeah that, and it was like so just chill and
relax and just visiting the family. Ate a lot of bread.
(01:28):
Parents love to eat carbs. The parents got cookies and
treats and entemons and treats. As I just lounged around
and then I got on a flight. I'm here, so
I'm all pumped up, you know, back on the grinding
good football. I'm ready to go. Man. Well you said
things that make you go, things that make you go.
There's a lot of things that make you go. But
then that's also a lot of obvious things we saw
(01:50):
today in the NFL. Also, I want to talk about
sports making grown men cry. We're gonna get to a
story I have. Plus when your family roots for different
teams and those teams face it like some type of
protocol or some type of rule. We'll get to that.
But hey, let's start with things that make you go
(02:11):
some of the obvious things, some of the not obvious
things that happened. Well, these are the takeaways of the day, right,
that's really what we're getting into. And some of them
are a little thing like, how about the simple fact
that the Kansas City Chiefs are in the bottom of
the a f C West with a three and oe
(02:32):
Raider team, a three and oe Broncos team, and a
two in one Los Angeles Chargers. Let's not get carried away.
You know, I had a bad game. Andy Reid wasn't
feeling that good, and I was kind of feeling those
vibes a little bit. I feel what he feels. So yeah,
the first time ever under Andy Reid that they're under
five hundred and we've never seen them look like this.
(02:55):
So you have to say, is their defense a little
sus Is the defense not that good? Is Is it
a matter of their luck has run out? You know,
we were talking to bou one of our producers here
in Fox Sports Radio. He brought up a good point
when you think about their success, a lot of things
went their way, right, You had my homes making crazy
plays and it always seemed to go their way. Maybe
(03:16):
it's just a matter of some of the luck running out.
I don't want to say, I don't want to say that.
I don't want to say for the last few seasons,
Patrick Mahomes was just lucky. But you're right, it seemed
like every time he would throw like some random US
hands no look, desperation passed, somehow someone caught it. They
haven't sustained any major injuries. They seem to have had
(03:38):
things go their way. Other than the Super Bowl last
year when Tom Brady and Tampa beat them. They've had
a pretty easy, breezy couple of years in a row now.
So this is the first adversity that Kansas City has
seen in the regular season. Yeah, no doubt. And you
do know that story right of Andy Reid. He was
rushed to the hospital after the game, but it seems
that he's okay. He wasn't aware of it during the game.
(04:00):
That's the last I heard, But we'll keep you posted
on that. But yeah, that's that's probably the biggest takeaway.
I don't know if it's that or the fact that
the Rams we're looking pretty hot today. Are you like
Cooper Cup? I mean, Cooper Cup is one hell of
a beefcake. Is that is that we're talking about it.
(04:21):
That's what I'm talking about that Matthew Stafford is one
fine piece I know from experienced. So yeah, I mean
there's so much to get to. But one last thing
on the Chiefs before we go all over the place
with all these different games. Chef Rock on number one,
Chief Rock. Um, yeah, there one and two And I
don't want to uh selling the panic alarm, but the
(04:46):
division is gonna come back to reality now. The two
and one Chargers are good. The Chargers have historically and
it's a weird concept because we've talked about how sometimes
a team, though the personnel changes, you can't escape your reputation,
like the Jets, completely different personnel year after year off
the year, but they're still the Jets. We established that
(05:07):
last week. The Chargers have this innate ability to lose
close games regardless of the personnel. Maybe that luck has
changed the Raiders under Gruden. We talked about it from
week one. Carino, when is his experiment going to start working?
Are we trusting the process? Well they're three and oh
tough game that Miami game. What was that money on
(05:28):
that game? Oh? I'm just assuming when I here's how
it works. When I see, you know, Rich fired up
and I can't get his attention, I'm assuming he just
has money riding on the game because I know you
don't care about the Raiders. I know you don't care
about the Dolphins. So you're kidding me huge. I'm a
huge Ray Finkle fan. I'm a huge Mark Dooper fan.
Dan Marino was my childhood hero. Now, um yeah, I
(05:51):
don't care about the Dolphins or the Raiders. But I
will say, after all that effort, after all that stress,
I bought a half a point and it ended up
being the thing that saved me. I have the Raiders
minus three, so to push, no one wins, and my
energy is wasted. But cano when I looked at it
and it was minus three and a half, I'm sort
(06:13):
of proud of my past self. I'm so proud of
myself that I bought that half a point. But it
means nothing. Raiders at three and oh. Like I said,
Chargers two and one Broncos the softest three and oh
team in the history of the NFL. But or is
there offense better than you're giving it? That's another thing
you can't really it's early, guys, This is all speculation.
(06:34):
These are the takeaways? You know, what are your takeaways
so far? There's a good game going on right now,
but so far, what were your takeaways on this Sunday
after you know, three weeks of football? Eight seven seven
six three six nine is Cavino and Rich Yeah, I
want to get the phones going. I want to hear
from you guys. I want to hear from you on Yeah,
what is the thing that made you go? Huh? How
about this? You know, there were so many Chicago fans
(06:55):
and people like you that were like, get fields in there.
We need the young guys in They're gonna get to that.
That was pretty underwhelming. Now, that was it whelming at all?
I'm not done with the Chiefs, or give me one
last second. The Broncos and the Raiders are three. No,
the Chiefs are one and two. And I'm not saying
count out the Chiefs after three weeks. That would be
(07:17):
ridiculous talk. However, you have a little catching up to
do now your two games back two games? Sorry did
you say catch up? Because I happen to be an
expert in catch up? In fact, um, I'm a co
owner and partner with Hauns. In fact, don't you put
it on your steak. I used catch up on steak,
my fries, potatoes, catch up on everything. You know. As
(07:38):
far as the Broncos character, no, no, Pat mahomes here,
it's best impression side by side. That's why, Hey, Bobo,
that's why they hired me. Man. This guy does what
he does. He does one mahomes and pro. Now, I'm
just kidding. So the Broncos, you know, I also don't
want to take a dump on the Broncos because, first
(08:01):
of all, they've done what they're supposed to do. They
beat the weaker teams on their schedule. My brother's a
Broncos fan. I was busting his chops earlier this week saying, yeah,
three and oh, but you'll be the softest three now.
But you know what, the Broncos beat the Jets nothing.
They handled the Giants by two touchdowns, and they beat
the Jags by ten. They're blowing out everyone, which is
(08:23):
what they're supposed to do. So the real test, and
yell at yourself. You don't want to keep saying the
softest three you now do you want to be doing
what they're supposed to do. You want to know the
real test. Mustard Brown first, the point there. Tell me
the real test is next week, Ravens are going to Denver,
so you're gonna get Lamar Jackson and a team that
(08:44):
just escaped the Ravens. They perplexed me too, because they
won a big game last week against the Chiefs, right,
but then they barely pull one out. It took a
sixties six yard field goal, a record breaking field goal
to beat the Lions. But we've established that the Lions
aren't gonna win anything, but they do play tough. We
established that last week they have fight, right, The Lions
(09:09):
have heart, they have hard, I really do. I watched
them both times because I watched them play my niners.
I watched them in that Monday night game versus the
Packers because everyone's eyes are on Aaron Rodgers. But they
play with guts, they play with hard, and I want
to go straight to the phone calls. Let's do it.
What made you go? Huh? The takeaways? What was your
what was your thing that made you go this weekend?
(09:30):
And let's start with Emmett, Emmett in Olympia. What's up? Emmett?
What's up? Guys? How are you doing? Good Man comed
On Rich Fox Football Sunday. Yes, sir, I just want
to say I'm a se Yawks fan and that performance,
you know, last week was awful. This week was awful. Yes,
our defense is horrible, but I was like, it's fun
(09:50):
things off with Russell Wilson, Like seventeen points in the
first half is good and all, but that second half
just didn't put up any points of viking to the
field day last week each hope. So I'm worried. Emmett um.
My feelings on the Seahawks have never changed. I'm a
Niners fan, so I try not to be biased, but
I respect you. You guys great fan base, right, well,
(10:11):
he was a better fan base of the Seahawks. But
I've always said that the Seahawks their success rides completely
on Russell Wilson. I said, if Russell Wilson was average
and not the elite quarterback he is, that team would
never show the signs of every year. That team is
a contender because of Russell will So if he has
a bad night's sleep or if he wakes up on
the bedside, it better. If he hasn't a fight with wifey,
(10:33):
or if he's just not feeling you know, a hundred
percent bio rhythms are off. Your success rides on that.
But hold on, there's two ways to look at it. Yeah,
Russell Wilson maybe playing a little not like Russell Wilson, right,
But Kirk Cousins was on fire three yards I think
three three tunnies. I mean the guy was playing big.
(10:54):
So it's a matter of both things going on there.
I think poor Sierra is going to deal with it.
She's gonna deal with an irritable Russell Wilson all week,
two weeks in a row. Thanks for the call, brother,
Let's go to a reason to worry, you think for
everybody who just called up, Well, yes, and I'll tell
you why after well, you know what I'll tell you
before Louise call, like, is it just a bad game.
(11:15):
There's something to worry about because in that division you
need to keep pace. Right. If the Niners win tonight,
knock on because I want them, then Bay tonight. If
the Niners, Cardinals and Rams are all three and o
and the Seahawks are now one and two again, now
they're chasing for the next big stretch of the schedule.
(11:37):
Do you want to be chasing? You want to be
two games behind every other team in your division. No,
you don't, Louie in the queues. What's up, louis everybody?
My moment is when everybody thinks the Raiders are actually
going to be good this year. It wasn't long ago.
There were a three guys. Remember, we're like to make
the playoffs. They drunk, they did it, they didn't make
(11:59):
them way up And you know what, one last club
before I go. I think the billionaire Mr Davis would
actually get a haircut and not look dumb with dumber anymore. No,
he's got the he's got the Captain Kangaroo. He's got
the Captain Kangaroo haircut. I don't know. That's the weakest
hair Louie, if you had that much money, I promise
you'd have a better haircut. Um, he needs to stop
at more he's wigs or something like. Anything's better than that. Here.
(12:23):
He needs to go to Luigi's barber shop in Union,
New Jersey. I'll tell you this. If you look at
the Raider schedule coming up, they play the Chargers Monday
night next week and Chargers as of right now, Vegas
already put it out Charges are a field goal favorite,
and that may be the Raider's first loss. But what
(12:43):
do we know, because after watching today, there's a lot
of things that make you go, like will Rhode Island, Yeah,
that's what's up. And you know what, Davis, he is
kind of a dumb me. What you'd be with if
you grew up around ter all those animals this year
(13:10):
does just tell you what your team is? Three and oh,
you play the Chargers. Let's say you even drop that one,
your three and one, then you play the Bears and
the Broncos. The Readers could be five and one and
it still and and lose their one tough game that
they underestimated the Dolphins a little bit, and you know,
(13:31):
little gas from last week's game. Who knows, we'll we'll
get to all the games this week. We got a
lot to get to having fun already. Yeah, things that
make you go. And your takeaways from today as we
watched the Yankees and the Red Sox, and of course
your team reach Tots and Green Bay will take more
phone calls and we got more Cavino and Rich next
on Fox Football Sunday. Fox Sports Radio has the best

I Heart Radio app search f s R to listen

guys for being here, Las Vegas, brought to you by
(14:15):
one of our favorite cities, Las Vegas, the greatest arena
on Earth. Planning your trip today at visit Las Vegas
dot com. Let's get into it. Things that make you go?
Can I give you a question? See and see music
factory style. I didn't come here to take your stupid tests.
Do I need a number two pencils? Yeah, get out
your number two pencils. No, it's actually a good question
before we go to all your your favorite act in
(14:36):
Las Vegas. It used to be sig Freed and Royal
Rescue Peace. Uh Danny gans Rescue Peace? So everyone died?
Did a show their back in the day? Um No.
My question is what happens here stays here. What happens
in Vegas stays in Vegas. When do you think that's
slogan came out and somebody Mary got caught up? Yeah exactly.
(14:59):
I don't know when you got quite cheating. You ain't married,
so you ain't kidding. And by the way, no, not me.
Uh oh three, that's been around for almost twenty years.
That's it. Yeah, I thought it was. I thought it
was like a long time thing. And oh three, what
happens here stays here? And we all de started to
say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. But that
was their slogan eighteen years ago, So it was I
(15:21):
guess it was like a man's coat to just not
speak of what happened before then. Correct. Yes, omitting is
not lying. If you keep your socks on right, it's
not cheating. It's not cheating. Kidding are all old rules
we used to live when we were now better people.
Cavino and Rich is Fox Football Sunday. Thanks for the
(15:42):
little fun fact they're rich. If you listen to Pearl
Gem better Man over and over, it doesn't make you
a better man. It doesn't. All right, let's go to
your phone calls. Let's start with Fred in Kansas City.
What were your takeaways? The things that make you went uh,
the things that made you go h. What's up? Fred? Well,
I have I'm a chief fan. I have concerns with
our quarterback that I'm not hearing anywhere. And I'll clarify this.
(16:07):
I don't care what team you have, you can't have
four turnovers, and when unless you're playing the Jets, you know,
I'm I'm not putting this all in the quarterback. In fact,
one of the one of Patrick's two interceptions was the
receiver Dwayne bow alligator arming it and tipped it and
(16:28):
they got interception. But here's my point for the last
this year and then part of last year. I'm seeing
plays with Patrick where I'll give an example. If it's
an inside route in the middle and our receiver has
his back to the defender, a throw I could do.
(16:48):
He's throwing a hell of a lot of those in
the dirt. And I'm not talking about trying to avoid
a sack where you're trying to near a player. So
I'm seeing that we went from having the cheetah flying
down the field long past long pass. We have hardman,
which can run pretty damn fast itself. All of a sudden,
(17:12):
we're almost like a West Coast offense. You know what,
fred let me let me let me tell you that.
The thing with with your team this morning. I remember
when I was watching this game, I said to myself,
you know they're gonna win this game with four turnovers.
That's how good your team is. I think you gotta
not overreact. I mean, one of two is not good
(17:33):
when two teams in your division are undefeated and char
for the first time team. But I'm just saying, like, bigger,
bigger picture. If you really want to talk bigger picture,
it's four four turnovers and you almost won the game
until they tied it up and one. I said to myself, Wow,
Kansas City's going to escape this game with four At
(17:54):
the time, it was three turnovers. But hey, Fred, I
think let's wait, let's wait a couple of weeks. Let's
let's not over react until they're two games on the
five hundred. And I'm not trying to make excuses or anything,
but hey, Bobo, um, I'm not trying to make excuses.
But you know, I got my brother, you know, getting
into fights in the stands and lots of distractions going on.
(18:16):
Thanks Patrick, thank you. I know. I think it's a
matter of just the little things not going their way
where it used to. I think bo Are, one of
our producers, made a really good point there, and again,
it's better that it's happening now. It's early in the season.
Some justice have to be made, that's all Hey, thanks
for the call. We appreciate it. I think not that
(18:36):
the luck is running out of just you're right. Every
little no look, pass, every little tip, everything went in
the direction of the Chiefs for a while. Yeah, you
had a little bad stretch of bad luck. You're right,
And the reality is it's a really good team. Like
I said, if there are two games under five hundred
in a month from now, then you might say, oh,
what the hell's going on? But when when you're winning,
(18:57):
when you're vibing, all those little things seem to go
your way. There is not right now. But Pat Mahomes,
this team has that sort of magic and you know,
I think it'll kick in again. And I don't know
if you've got my reference, but last week Pat Mahomes
brother was was getting into it with the fans. That
went viral and no quarterback nobody needs that distract Now.
(19:17):
I was distracted by how sweet the Forts retro Steve
Young jerseys look. Oh god, they're sweet looking jerseys. And
by the way, Nick Bosa almost creating an interception there. Yeah,
Rogers got it back. And we'll keep you posted on
the Packers game. And of course the Yankees Red Sox
(19:37):
right now again competing for the wild card, and Boston
just went up one nothing. We're Covino and rich. Things
that make you go your takeaways today And I was
talking to bow and again, a lot of people are
gonna want to talk about the Chiefs, and a lot
of people are gonna want to talk about the Rams.
So I'll just throw this out there. Um, the Bears,
I mentioned it before, they just look pathetic. I think
(20:00):
the average you know, one point one yards per carry
and fields is just not the answer right now. So
it's like all that wasted energy on you get on fields, man,
we gotta put fields in fields, fields, fields, and then
you come and you were you were under rounded. If
you listen back to me the last couple of weeks,
I never said Fields was gonna be great if he
was in there. All I said was the fans and
(20:22):
ever wants to fans, everybody wants to see him in
I know you care. No, I didn't say it would
be I didn't say justin Fields was gonna be uh,
you know, a success in a winning quarterback right at
the gate, I just said the fans and everyone in
the NFL was like anthy Dalton's just like a time filler, right,
a time killer. Uh, let's go to Max and Charlotte
Como and Rich what's up? What's up? Max? Going on?
(20:46):
H Yeah, So I'm a Bills fan out of Charlotte. Um,
I'll just touch on a couple of things. You guys
can talk about whichever one you you like more. But
I just want to say for the Bills fans out there,
Josh Allen was getting criticized the first two weeks. He
was having some swappy games. Are like, oh, he's gonna regrets,
You're gonna he's gonna be worse this year. And it
was just it was too easy for him. It was
(21:07):
two thousand twenty Josh Allen today and uh completely blew out. Obviously,
you know it was just Heineke, but uh it was,
you know, a solid football team that just won last week.
So he's back, dude. But anyway, again, this is why
Max and and I'll let me, I'll make I'll let
you make your second point. But this is why, this
is why everyone in sports radio, including US has fun
(21:27):
like really overstating and overplaying and over exaggerating things because
the same way people are like man, Aaron Rodgers is done.
People are like man, Josh Allen took a big step back.
The guy through forty plus yards and four touchdowns today,
and I still I still have Josh Allen as an
m VP candidate. Dude. They're two and one in a
(21:49):
let's be honest, like a crappy division that the Bills
are gonna be just fun like. I mean, I'm glad
Josh Allen did that honestly to shut people up, because
anyone that doubted him, Yeah, he played big today, damn
lost their mind. Props to him. All Right, Um, let's
see green Bay lining up for a field goal. Miss it,
miss it, miss it, miss it, miss it. It's good.
(22:11):
What's your second point, buddy? Yes, I was betting on
green Bay, thank goodness, hang hang up on this up. No, alright,
so no, my other takeaways besides joshutting good and yeah,
people change their minds every week. You know. Everybody was
all Aaron Rodgers is throwing games in week one? Okay,
calm down. Anyways. Uh my biggest takeaway seriously though, the
(22:32):
Steelers got to start getting a plan because Big Bend
looks like he needs help across the road. H was
really old. And then uh and then also Carson Wentz
in Indie. I don't know, man, I don't even know
what he looks like. He's like only playing so that
he doesn't have that injury narrative because he's just hobbling too.
And I don't know, like, why did they even draft
people to back Hi up? They should just play somebody else.
(22:53):
I think it's also they're both great points. But I
think now we're seeing these mobile quarterbacks more than ever,
and we're noticing more than ever that Roethlisberger and Wentz
and guys like this just like so slow compared to
the younger dudes that are scrambling and playing. It's just
a different style of football. I mean, he brought up
two great points that I even worked out myself, Ben Ben.
(23:17):
Roethlisberger looks old. That's yeah, that's it just looks and
especially when you play like a really young, fiery team
like Cincinnati, they look sharp, right, and then but where
do they go? Who do you go? No? I don't know.
You just let it play it, You let a playout it. Sometimes.
That's why they were speculation of Cam Newton, but clearly
that's not based on what our dude Max said. The
(23:40):
cults a lot of people had them winning the division. Remember,
a lot of people like, oh, it's maybe Titens. Cults
like Jags aren't there yet. Uh, people discounted Houston and
people are like, yeah, it's probably Titans are cults, right,
Coults are oh and three and Carson Wentz has two
bad ankles. Things are not good in the Annapolis Hot
take Scoop Andrew luck at every time get out of here,
(24:01):
Teresa started, let us Teresa in New Mexico. What's up?
Comino Rich? Fox Football Funday? How you guys doing doing it?
Having fun? Man? What's up? Oh man? I got two
points for your first of all, i'm a I'm again
of Gocember, Denver and Arizona. As far as Denver goes
Jet Dot Blakes. Nothing else need be said anyway, onto Arizona.
(24:25):
My my new moment was the fact that one, this
was supposed to be a gimme game. This was supposed
to be a cargoes go in and and bust up
some Jaguars and do some declines. That didn't happen, especially
when Uh, in the second half the Jaguars start gashing
him on the ground and getting like eight nine nord
(24:46):
one when they should have that defense should have had
him walked up. Hey, Vin's go to do some work
on your defense gap integrity. Please, we got the ramps
coming up. We can't play like that against him. That said,
I mean it won by two. I mean, listen, well,
Arizona field goal. Arizona was favored Theresa by a touchdown.
(25:08):
They won, They won by twelve. I mean that was
a story of Arizona really not playing great. Right, they
were losing at halftime, and you know what, a better
team will come out on top, right, that happens right
where the better team strugg loose and then by the
end of it, it's like they want thirty one? What
(25:29):
is tersa one? It doesn't always happen. Nothing I was
thinking was going to happen with the Chiefs today. It
did not. But you know, I think it was a
little disappointing. If you're watching as a Cardinals fan, You're like,
they're going for sixty eight yard field goal at one point.
This is early in the game, you know. And again,
Matt Prator had the record as of today with a
sixty four yard field goal until Justin Tucker beat that today. Uh,
(25:54):
Matt Prador missed his sixty eight yard field goal and
then Agnew returned it for a hundred and nine yards.
It was a little deflating at that moment, but they
turned it up. So yeah, Teresa, no worries. I was
checking on I was checking on my phone. I'm like,
this must be a mistake. Where they get thirteen, there's
like two seconds left and the half and then like, oh,
a hundred and nine yards. By the way, Jimmy Garoppola
(26:15):
looks even more handsome in these old school jerseys. Look
at that past to Kittle first down. Man, this could
be a good game tonight. Um, but he must work out.
Hot take from West, who hit us up on the
tweets at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio. He said,
hot take, sadly, Seattle, we'll finish in fourth place. It's possible.
(26:38):
I mean they're I mean they're in a great division.
Fourth place in that division could be ten and seven
this year. Let's see what's going on in the game here.
Forty Niners. They they who's Who's Who's lame running back
for them tonight? They're super injured. All right, let's go
to our update. Who do we got on the update today? Oh,
what's up, Sager, how are you man? Hey, good evening, guys.
(26:59):
We've got it through nothing. Green Bay lead at San
Francisco about eight and a half minutes to go in
the first quarter. Aaron Rodgers Rogers on the first drive
was four for four passing fifty one yards him Mason
Cross fifty four yard field goal and therefore the three
nothing early lead. Minnesota beat Seattle thirty to seventeen. The
Rams are three and oh after beating Tampa Bay thirty
four to twenty four. In that game, Matthew Stafford, which
(27:22):
four touchdown passes Las Vegas in and overtime, beat Miami
thirty one eight. Vegas is three and oh. Denverse three
and oh after the shutout over the windless Jets twenty
six nothing. Zack Wilson was sacked five times. The Chargers
won at Kansas City thirty to twenty four. The Chiefs
record is one and two Pittsburgh glosst at home. The
Steelers or one and two after losing to Cincinnati twenty
(27:44):
four to ten. Victories for Buffalo, New Orleans and Cleveland,
Tennessee beat windless Indianapolis sixteen. Detroit so and three after
losing it home to Baltimore sixty six yard field goal
on the final play, although if there's one guy you'd
pick to do it, it would be Justin Tucker. And
Giants are oh and three losing it home to Atlanta
(28:06):
seventeen fourteen, and Jacksonville's oh and three after losing it
home to Arizona thirty one nineteen. The Cards are three
and oh. Penn State moved up to number four in
the new a P Pole. The top three remained the same.
Arkansas will be at Georgia this Saturday. Arkansas is up
to number eight in the country to Major League Baseball, Yes,
Yankees and Red Sox again tonight. The Yanks have won
(28:26):
five games in a row. They're down one nothing at
Boston in the top of the fifth inning. Toronto and
Seattle have already won on the road. Oakland stole a
victory from Houston four to three. Stros have lost four
in a row. Just one week left in the regular season. St.
Louis won its sixteenth straight game, four to two at
the Cubs. The Cards record holy crap has of September seven.
(28:48):
But I didn't know was sixteen. I mean, my my
father in law was a Cardinals fan, and I like
a week ago, and I'm like, you guys have won
like ten a row, by the way, just saying not
a Mets fans, So I checked out a while back
into as did. The Mets record on September seven was
sixty nine and sixty eight. Now sixteen wins in a row.
(29:08):
They're gonna wrap up the n O Wild Card. They
have a six game lead for it with only seven
games left in the season. It's looking like Cardinals at
Dodger Stadium for the wild Card game. Giants and Dodgers
each one on the road. Dodgers are a couple of
games back of San Francisco, whose magical season continues with
four runs in the ninth They won six two at
Colorado Atlanta held onto a four three win at San Diego.
(29:30):
Milwaukee clinch the NL Central beating the Mets eight four.
Mets have lost five in a row. NASCAR's at Vegas
tonight and they're approaching the midway point, Carl Larson in
the lead, William Byron running second, and US Golfers won
the Ryder Cup nine over Europe. Back to you, by
the way, six row. That's like every does that, every
fans fantasy being serious, Like when your team's playing five baseball.
(29:54):
It's not fantasy, you mean sports fantasy. It's true. I
was gonna have plenty of other fantasies that don't evolve baseball.
But no, if you're as a sports fan, how many
times were you like, well, my team's five hundred if
they just like, you know, rip off like ten ten
in a row. The Cardinals have ripped off sixteen in
a row, Like that's going on the street. And imagine
(30:15):
if you're the Dodgers and you're like, yo, we're gonna
end up winning. The Dodgers are gonna end up winning
like a hundred of five games and might lose a
one game wild card, and you know what, it's all momentum,
you know, And they got it right now. So we're
Cavino and Rich on Fox Football Sunday and we're sort
of wrapping this up things that make you go see
(30:35):
and see music factory style. We're throwing it back, but
your takeaways of today, And like I said, I'll throw
another one out there because I know nobody's gonna say this,
but the Browns. I was talking to Bow again and
he was like, yeah, man, they're they're the team to
beat in the AFC, right now, what do you think?
How much of you in both texting there? Yeah? Yeah, bo,
you guys have like a secret chat or what. I
(30:59):
pay attention to bows text and you don't, I think.
But anyway, he makes a good point. I mean, they
just made the Bears look silly today, And I don't
know if they're a team to beat rich, but I'll
tell you what. They're a team to watch, like I'm
always tuned in. They're an exciting team. Let me, I'll
tell you what Boat told me when we were having
a pumpkin spice lattiste. Are they a team to beat me?
(31:20):
They're They're a top tier team for in the a
f C. I think Chicago. Our pal Cowherd tweeted out
earlier that he hasn't seen a team I don't let
me find the exact, something to the effect of, he
hasn't seen a team play with such lack of enthusiasm offensively,
like he doesn't remember a Bears team that's that's ever
had enthusiasm Essentially, well, was the last time you remember
(31:42):
the Bears having an offensive call that's really fun to watch?
It's been years, No, it's been years. Oh man, that
Bears team, they were they're running on all cylinders. Huh.
So yeah, we're gonna say, yeah, justin fields Wood. Yeah,
just just some extra you said you said the Bears
averaged one point one yards per rush. It was actually
one point one yards per play per play, so that
includes that. Yeah, So you know, but credit to the
(32:07):
Browns because they are good and they are fun to watch.
So I'm just throwing that out. There is things that
make you go, are they gonna be one of the
most dominant teams in the a f C? And back
to the phones again, if you want to chime in
and just say what's upped? And by the Fox eight
seven seven six three six nine. That Cowherd tweet was
(32:28):
I couldn't even tell you the last time I watched
the Chicago Bears offense that was consistently dynamic and I
know which one, uh the eighty five Tech Mobile Bears.
It's true. And by the way, that team was a
defensive team. So I don't know if I've ever seen
a Bears team in my life, but you can stop
sweetness on Tech Mobile. I mean, the Bears have had
so few offensive he was high five and in the
since Walter Payton when we were kids. All right, let's
(32:50):
go to Steve and San Diego. He's up, Steve, what's up? Show?
That was the game today? So line, that's why my
voice is shot. I want to have a game. What
a team? I mean? I'm really applied to press beast
as you go along the way this year. Um, you know,
Tampa Bay was supposed to be John's favorite. But you
(33:14):
know what, I like my Ramps. Chances don't really do.
What do you guys say? I think the Rams are
great and I think, uh, from underwater? Where's he calling? Women?
Must tell you you have a sexy voice? Never um sunsing,
you just finished like the whole slab of Gobba gool No.
But I mean the Rams after what they did, what
they did to Tampa today made you, made you confirm
(33:38):
what you suspected, which is man. The Rams are really
the power team that everyone thinks they are. They might
be you know, top one, two three teams in the
in the NFC. That's think about this too. They were,
they were close and the god for Stafford swapperoo seems
working for mcveigh's working for l A. And you know
everybody's gunning to beat Tom Brady. I'm stating the obvious here, right,
(34:01):
So they're really going all out. That was by far
the biggest statement game of today. It just was, Uh,
let's take one more phone calls. Talk to Jeff. Oh,
Jeff and Virginia. You're hanging with Cavino and Rich on
Fox Sports Radio. What a buddy. Hey, Yeah, the previous
collar needs to stop smoking. But but otherwise, look, did
(34:26):
you guys see Jackson getting hit today? It's unbelievable. He
needs to learn how to slide or he's I don't
know how he's gonna make it like to athletic, too
risky for his own good. Yeah, it's it's if you
see it, you're gonna mean unbelievable. Did you know what
it is? There? There there comes a point where you
start thinking yourself, he's he's got to change his game
(34:49):
or injuries and you know he's only gonna get older,
injuries are gonna be easier. And you wonder, remember the year,
not this year, two years ago, Jeff, when it seems
like the Ravens were unbeatable. Do you remember that? And
then they choked in the playoffs, but the regular season
it was almost a luck. People are like Yo, it's
Lamar Jackson's year. I don't know if that, I don't know,
(35:10):
if that, I don't know if that time is over?
Is that you always talk about Jeff rich always talks
about the little window to make it happen, right, I mean,
how how much longer do the Ravens have with that
sort of athleticism, with the chances of Mark Jackson getting injured,
you know, with their their level of play right now,
how long do they have to make it happen? This
could be the year for them and he has to
(35:31):
stay healthy because that was what that was like three
years ago, when when you know, a couple of years ago.
And by the way, one field today, six yard unbelievable
off the cross board. That was sick unbelievable. Hey thanks
to great show. Hey man, thanks for king. We appreciate it.
You know what we could we could break. And I'll
be aggravated because right now, hold on Aaron Rodgers nine
(35:54):
for nine. Now he's got the touchdown ten nothing Green Bay.
I mean, I'm clapping is I know it puts you
on the edge of your seat. Now, I'm not running
against about that. Yankees Red Sox tied and I don't
expect you guys to care if you're not a Yankees
fan or a Red Sox fan. But every game counts
(36:15):
right now, So we got more. Cavino and Rich start
thinking about this, what happaring, how the forty edge could
get it together. Well, we'll give you updates as the
night goes on. But apparently Rich watched the latest ted
Lasso and uh, I don't I don't know if you're
weeping like a little uh, like a little baby. Oh yeah,
I I weeped. Bub we'll talk. We'll talk about it. Well,
(36:38):
we're gonna talk to you about what happened on ted
Lasso and sports moments that got you emotional, that actually
brought you to tears, all right, and more. It's Cavino
and Rich on Fox Football Sunday. Fox Football Sunday with
Cavino and Rich. We're at Covino and Rich on social media,
so please follow us in the club. Say what's up.
(36:58):
I hope you're having a nice we can I hope
all your teams want I hope you've got some fantasy points.
I hope you're having an ousic sort of weekend, not
an Anthony Joshua sort of weekend, like like a Volkanovski
sort of weekend, A victorious weekend. Guys. Now, I gotta
tell you real quick. Discover anything that'll get my mind
(37:19):
off the Niners right now. Discover matches all your cash
back you earn on your credit card at the end
of the first year. It's amazing because discovers accepted at
the places in the US to take credit cards. Learn
more at discover dot com. Slash Yes Nielson Report limitations apply.
You read it wrong. It says it's a mass. Well,
let me just tell you about this Niners Green Bay
(37:40):
Packers game going on right now. What did I miss?
I know you're a man about you know what it
is at just the pace of the game so far, dude.
Time of possession, that's what it is. It's time of
possession and total yards. I mean, I know it's I
know it's the first quarter, but they've outgained the forty
Niners hundred and thirty four to yards. Like the Niners Garoppolo,
(38:05):
Garoppolo missed a third and one and now Aaron Rodgers
getting the ball back. It's ten nothing this game, kid,
get gross. If the forty Niners don't settle down right,
sometimes that's the secret to success. There's a guy in
the Yankees, Nasty Nestor. You probably don't even know him,
Nasty Nestor Cortez. You know, the secret is not only
his angles of his pitches, but his pace of the game.
(38:28):
You know, he catches the batters off balance, He's quick,
he doesn't waste any time. That's how Aaron Rodgers is
playing right now. You know. I looked up he was
nine for nine. I was like, how that happened? Ten
for town. By the way, he's ten for ten hours
nothing And because he's moving quick. Pace of the game
right now is advantage Green Bay. But we wrapped up
your takeaways, things that make you go. We'll talk more
(38:50):
about it as the night goes on. But hey, Rich,
I was on the East Coast, I could say east.
I was visiting my hometown of Union. Knew or I
hope he didn't hang out with any Jets fans, because
at this stage of the game I feel like even
hanging out with a Jets fan might just rub off
on you. I don't. I don't hang out with losers.
(39:12):
But not really, but not really. Wilson gets sacked five
times today. Jesus Well, I was visiting family. I didn't
have like a lot of downtime to you know, watch
any cool shows. You were watching ted Lasso. You're all
caught up, right, so yeah, tell this what happened? Man?
I watched squid Game by the way, on Netflix? Is
that really good? Are you hyping this up? You're like
the boy that cried awesome show to watch? No, I said,
(39:35):
squid Game is. And sometimes I'm just whelmed watching these recommendations.
I guess you would say it's gory and like in
sort of a mind trip. I'm like, yo, what is
with the show squid Game? But no, no, forget that.
I'm caught up on ted Lasso. And if you're a
ted Lasso fan, this last episode, I could confidently say
(39:55):
if you didn't well up a little bit and feel
a little a little teary eyed a little bit, then
you probably have zero heart. You're probably heartless. You got
your tarry on game of Game of Throne style, I
got my teary on. There was a scene. I don't
want to give away too much, but there was a scene.
Maybe you're just feeling emotional, maybe you need a hung
or something. Was it really that good? There was a
(40:17):
scene in the church it wasn't National Daughter Day. Maybe
you were all emotional about it. My baby girl, Yeah,
she's going up, throwing up. I'm convinced that if you
are Ted Lasso fan and you're watching and you didn't
get a little teary eyed during the church scene, let's
(40:38):
just say when they all start singing along to something,
Oh this sounds corny sing along, you're like, I didn't
see it yet, but so off the mom I want
to know your thoughts. Guys, everybody listening hanging out with
us on Fox Football Sunday and other like. It doesn't
have to be shows, but things in sports that got
you emotional, caught you off guard those moments. We'll take
(40:59):
your calls next right here coven on Rich, Yeah, Covino
and Rich on social media at Steve Cavino at Rich
Davis at your service, taking your phone calls if you
want to say, what's up? Jimmy Garopolo interception? Really, will
you stop? No, I'm not stopping. You need to stop below.
(41:20):
What's your Jimmy Garoppolo eight on Fox eight seven nine.
I mean, Rich is a Niners fan, but clearly he
has money on this guy's anyway, I have more important
things rich like Las Vegas. Tell me about it. Brought
to you by one of our favorite cities, Las Vegas,
the greatest arena on earth. Every game, match, race, and
(41:40):
competition it is always on. No one does sports like Vegas,
and the excitement is endless. So make sure to plan
your trip today at visit Las Vegas dot com. I'm
gonna go there right now. Just like that, huh, just
play first play after a big stop, I was gonna say,
Armstead leaned on Aaron Rodgers as he was getting up
like a little and I'm like, God, that's nice. He
(42:02):
overthrew kids the message and then then the Niners get
the ball back. First play. Hey, Rich, why don't you
cry about it? Get it? You like that segue? Why
don't you cry about it? Because that's what we're talking
about again. I'm Steve Cavino, that's Rich Davis. He's the
guy pounting real hard about the forts. It's tend nothing
in the second quarter and the Yankees are still up
(42:23):
two to one over Boston. I hope you're enjoying your
Sunday night. I hope you're enjoying your weekend. I hope
you enjoyed the fights, your UFC two sixty six. You're
boxing Alexander O. Sick is the new heavyweight champion. So
we're talking some football right now. Actually we're talking things
that made you cry? What's moments that made you cry?
And I'm not going to give away all the obvious answers,
(42:44):
but I wanna, you know, I want to share some
of my stories because it's rare, sew and far between.
Because I don't know if you know this, Bobo, I
don't know if you know this, but I'm slightly Vato,
slightly vat vat local for Vatos don't cry. But you
know we have we have a limit on how many
tears were allowed to use in our lifetime. And there
have been a few moments. Would you say, what's the
number tiers? That was pretty specific for a lifetime and
(43:08):
I used a lot watching Coco. I don't know if
you've ever seen Cocoa. I'm going to back off this conversation.
Oh yeah, well it's a good movie. Oh yeah, cry
a cocoa. If you don't cry a cocoa, you have
no heart. You have no heart, Bobo. When I look
at Bobbo differently make some cocoa. Alright, So yeah, I
usually think this was brought up, not because of a
game that happened today or any part. There was a
(43:31):
ted Lasso scene that I was like, my goodness, this
is emotional. So I ask you TV movies, real life,
when has sports made you cry? We're going to talk
to Mike in Arizona, Mike in Arizona, and I'm gonna
tell you some of my examples and we'll get the
phone's going on. What's up? Hey, Mike, You're on the show.
(43:51):
What's going on? Of course you're on What's up? All right?
M Yeah, I can't remember exactly what you're It was,
but it was early two thousand's after Tampa Bay won
the Super Bowl and they played the Colts on Monday
Night Football and the Colts were down by one and
there was only like four minutes left to go in
(44:13):
the game. And my wife told me, she's like, don't
do this yourself, turn off the TV, don't watch. And
the Colts came back, you know, touchdown on side kick,
touchdown on side kick, and I couldn't help but begin
serioied and they won in overtime. They missed a phild
gold and there was like a leap being call that
(44:34):
they called you like I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna
go out on a lib and say that might be
a pretty lame answer. No, it's pretty a regular season.
You know. Sometimes sometimes, especially you know, for for tough
guys like Mike, things catch you at the weirdest moment.
And I have a Cults example. I by no means
I threw this out there before I said, hey, Andrew
(44:55):
Lux coming out of retirement, and I was joking obviously, right,
But I remember being away on a little mini vacation
when he just suddenly announced his retirement, and I remember
getting emotional watching it. Not by no means that I cry,
but it did catch me off guards I'm like, oh man,
look at him. He got emotional. I had emotional and
I was like, his career is over. Just like that.
(45:15):
I remember getting welled up, like pussing boots, like I
caught a little bit. That's about it. Not one not
one tier was shed, But I do remember getting randomly emotional.
I'm gonna say, you probably had something else going on
in your life at the moment. I think I probably
drank too much that night. I don't know, feeling something
was going on because I don't think Andrew luck made
you cry. Thanks for the call, but his retirement and
(45:36):
the end of his career and just watching it so
suddenly happened did get me emotional? Hey, thanks man. Yeah,
that's a weird answer because it was just such a
meaningless game. But sometimes it's like a commercial. Sometimes, like
the dumbest things get you emotional. This happened to me.
I see a lot of times, rich Um, I'm looking
for someone to watch the fights with, and a lot
of people bail on me. And I remember watching Anthony
(45:58):
Joshua take on Andy Rui's and I'm like, this chubby
vanto loco has no shot beating Anthony Joshua. It was
like a specimen versus slam. I remember watching it myself
being like, oh, this is a good filler fight. I'll
watch you know. Coincidentally, guys, Anthony Joshua lost all of
his belts again last night to Alexander, who sick his
(46:21):
ib F, w B A and w B OH belts.
But before he got him back, he fought a chubby
know named by Andy Ruiz and as I mentioned, I'm
I'm a I'm a slightly vato guy, right, I'm have Mexican.
I always rooted for these guys. I always thought Chris
the Nightmare Ariola might be the first heavyweight Mexican champion
of all time, right, first ever, And this kid out
(46:43):
of nowhere lights it up and beats Anthony Joshua. You cried,
I gotta tell you. I watched it alone, but I'm
so happy for this. When he was jumping up and down,
I remember just standing up. I'm standing up, my little
on hold on big fourth down. I might cry. Here,
come on, Niners, stop him, stop Aaron Rodgers. Right now,
(47:03):
I want to hear Rich stop him, stop him, stop him,
stop a Runners. Oh throws, yeah he can wait, turnover
run downs, Yeah, suckers, right back to the show. It
would have been so perfect. You're at work right now,
right Yeah, no, no, no, we're in the air. He's
got Bobo. You know what. Clearly he's got action on this,
(47:26):
love fan. I'm never that hype when I cracked Mike,
he's out of his mind. Let's say something. Yes, I
do have action, but that's besides the point I am.
I'm a Niners fan, and there's an opportunity to go
three and oh that was a big stop because they're
down ten nothing to the Packers. The Packers score there,
it's seventeen nothing. Now the forty Niners have the ball.
(47:48):
If they score on the strive, it's a one score game.
That that was a game changing moment. Was a moment.
There's a big WOOLO. Did just pick though, Jimmy Garoppolo,
I'm calling for Trey Lance in the second half. Alright,
hold on, let me wrap up my answer. Yeah. So
when Andy Ruise upset Anthony josh for a few years back,
and nobody expected that, and he was super stoked about it.
(48:10):
He became the first Mexican heavyweight champion of the world.
I think I think you cried with Anthony Ruise still
all the tacos at your family reunion. That made me cry.
His victory made me emotional. And my real number one
answer because it just happened. Watching the the end of
Derek Jeter's career, his highlight reel, you know, when he
got inducted into the Hall of Fame. When they did that,
(48:31):
remember the end now year they did a little Sinatra
tribute to Jeter. I could see where that got you.
Just everything, all the highlights, all of his speeches that
he made recently. You know, that sort of got me
emotional because he's the last sports hero I looked up to,
and it was cool to see him get into the
Hall of Fame and made me emotional. I don't blubb
(48:52):
her by any means, but I did get emotional watching that.
So you know what moments sports moments that made you cry?
I know Bo had a lot of examples. Bob, if
you have any let us know. And again we're gonna
go to the phones. We have a bow and a Bobo. Yeah,
we have three bows. Bow. What is it? What is
the moment that made you cry? Sports? Like you said,
it could be real life, it could be TV, it
could be movies. Yeah, probably the most uh the worst
(49:16):
one was in high school when uh my mom raised
me as an Oklahoma Sooners fan. Um so when they
played USC from the national title. I think was that
like two thousand four, two thousand three, one of those years.
I talked a lot of crap at school because everybody
was like USC fan. I was like, no, we're gonna
We're gonna trash you guys. And then I think the
game happened. It was like fifty five to nothing or
(49:37):
something like that. Just you cried. See, I never cried
like in a pouting way like that. I cried in
the sense that like I I beg my I beg
my dad not to make me go to school the
next day. Yeah, and I still went and like out
of sadness and frustration. That's never happened to me. But
true story. Bow Rich Davis was caught on TV crying
(49:59):
when his men lost in the playoffs? Was that? What
was that? Another one in the World Series? When when
did it win the World Series? Ever? Except when did
you cry? On TV? It was on Fox? Believe it
or not? What's up? Fox? Um? It was the two
thousand six NLCS Game seven, when the forty Niners lost
(50:22):
to the Cardinals. Didn't Joe Buck say looking at Bozo
crying or something like that? No, he did not say
when he zoomed in on you. But I was one
of the pouting fans they went to. It was the season.
Do you remember when Dye Chave has made the greatest
catch of all time? That meant nothing? Was that? The
was that the curveball that beltron just stared at. The
tron stared at where the Mets everything was leaning towards
(50:43):
like it's theirs to win now because Andy Chap has
made that catch. I cried there, And you know, a
therapist would probably analyze this better. But I I feel
like I get more emotional at fake things in real life.
Like I'll get emotional watching the Mighty Ducks, and not
only the Money Ducks movies. I'm talking like the series
that was on like Disney Plus. Well, yeah, that's I mean,
(51:05):
that's designed to, uh, to make emotional. I don't I
don't know anybody that doesn't get welled up watching like
remember the Titans wrote that down right here? Remember the
times I wrote that down When they're doing the Strong Side,
like that whole thing, I'm like, well, sweep some movie stuff. Yeah,
bo any other examples while we go to the phones. Uh, Baseball,
I mean baseball is always the hardest thing to watch,
(51:27):
I think. I mean, however many collapses the Dodgers had
in the playoffs, Um, I think I was here in
nineteen when they lost in the Nationals, and um, I
might have had to step outside to scream a little bit.
I gotta tell you, maybe I'm too macho rich, right,
But no, you know, no, no, no, Like it all
goes back even to like Little League days. You know,
like the kid that cried when he struck out I
(51:49):
had no respect for. That's different. Or the kid that
got hit by the pitch and he was like his
dad had to come out because he was crying. Between
showing your emotions as emotions versus being a cry, you know,
you don't be great more acceptable for for happy tears,
like the happy ones the pouty ones. I'm sort of
like really speaking about talking about the Dodgers. Let me
(52:10):
throw this out there. You remember in the nineties when
the Braves one like what's what felt like twenty pennance
in a row, but only have one world series to
show for it. Do do Dodgers fans feel the same way?
Where they've done way too much to only have one
world series? I mean, really they should have to. I
(52:30):
don't think anybody believes the Astros legitimately won that ring,
but what they did, you know. But I'm just saying, like,
all right, the eighties Mets, right, the fact that the
eighties Mets only have one world series is a letdown.
The fact that the nineties Braves only have one world
series let down? Feel like the Dodgers over the last
decade or so I feel like one is great better
(52:53):
than most teams have zero. But I feel like the
Dodgers should have more than one. Yeah, I mean, Baseball,
I think is the hardest sport to win a title.
Am uh. You know you have not not always the
best team wins, but you have to play a hundred
and sixty two games or whatever, Like does any did
anybody actually think that the Giants were going to win
a hundred and one games this year? And and it
wouldn't shock me at all if they won seventy next year. Like,
It's just it's it's the most random sport. The Dodgers
(53:15):
have done a really good job of making themselves competitive
every single year and giving themselves a chance, but you know,
sometimes it doesn't happen. Yeah, but when the Dodgers did win,
I could I could see how you can get emotional,
you know, Yeah, that is so acceptable. When the Cubs won,
when the Red Sox won, and and some so many
of the fans through to their their family that weren't
alive to see it. You know, I can see how
(53:37):
people can get emotional about that. Um, we'll stop crying.
I got other things, all right, Well right, Rich cried
at last. You watch that episode tonight when you get home, right,
don't tell me what to do, and you tell me
that when when they're in the church. I gotta catch
up on Bassador in Paradise. You're embarrassing, all right? Our
number seven? I'm just kidding' not six three six nine,
(53:59):
Cavino and Rich. A couple things we're gonna get to more.
Takeaway is the things that made you go from week
three of the NFL plus Cavino. Something I did want
to get to today. When family members and people you've
dated and and families of girls you've been with have
different sports alliances, is it a big deal? Not a
(54:21):
big deal at all? Do you care? Do you not care?
Let's say one phone call from Bobby and then we'll
take a quick break. Bobby and flow Rata, Cavino and
Rich rap it up, buddy, Hey guys, how you doing?
Great show? Thanks? Man? How about this two of them,
the Chicago Cubs. I wasn't a fan, but I don't
care if anybody was a fan when you saw what
(54:41):
those cup bands went through and then they finally want it.
I agree, man, I agree. I think that's a great answer.
I really, do you know you think about at number
two in football on the Patriots went eighteen and oh
and nobody gave the Giants a chance to and and
they came through nowhere and just need them that. I
(55:05):
love that story because that was always a fun one
to watch. And thanks for the call, Bobby, Thank you man.
Are good. Buddy Spot, who is our producer with Serious
x Ham our podcast. Our buddy Spot had the winning
numbers in a really substantially expensive box pool. If it
were fourteen tens, like whatever the score would have been
if the Giants didn't score that winning touchdown. I think
it would have been fourteen ten. He had four and
(55:27):
zero but like a ten dollar grand prize. And I
watched it with him laughing in his face. All right,
your your phone calls, your feedback more. Next Covin on
Rich Fox Football Sunday Funday. Thanks for hanging Fox Football
Sunday with Cavino and Rich. Steve Cavino and Rich Davis,
thanks for listening live on Fox Sports Radio dot Com,
(55:48):
the our Heart Radio app, and of course are stomping
Grounds Serious sex M. You guys may know us from there,
or perhaps you've seen us at the store. You can
know us there. Maybe you know the great Mitch Hedberg said,
hanging out with Bobo and Bo It's Kevin Rich. Thank
you guys, Um Steve the Sager on the updates. By
the way, good crew tonight, I'm watching. I'm watching my
(56:10):
Niners try to mount some before halftime. Come back over it.
You're the only guy that cares. Okay, are you serious? Yes?
I mean it's something in football. Two big teams. What's up?
I was gonna give my crime moment before we got
out of here. I just I just literally talked to
you about both of them. One is Kobe. To this day,
I don't I still get emotional a role Kobe Bryant,
(56:32):
I don't care what it is. And then like to
see his daughter on the pages of Rose a teen
vogue or something like that. It's just like I see
him in her and as a father at that still
hits me every single time because Kobe, just Kobe was
l A's hero, like a period. The second one man,
and I hate Green Bay to this day because of that.
(56:56):
Das Bryant, no catch that I'm as a Dallas Cowboys chance.
That was it right there, and the referees was like, nah,
you tell me though you got emotionally like like a
tear welled up at of frustration. There. I was so like,
I want to say I was here when it happened,
(57:19):
and they tried to go to me, and I told
him I don't think that's a good idea. Hey man,
that first off, that Kobe story, that's like universally accepted
with you especially. I was literally getting dressed to come
here and a friend of mine text me and was like,
please tell me this Kobe Bryant story is not true,
and I was like, I'm getting dressed. You was like,
turn on the TV and I looked literally went to
(57:40):
everybody's thing, and because I remember, it was like, oh,
Rick Fox was with him, and then they started naming
like all these different people and then Rick Fox came
out and was like, oh no, it's not me. And
I was like, somebody please tell me that they text Kobe, Like,
please please tell me they text Kobe. And then even
at his funeral when I saw Jordan's losing, Yeah, the
fact that he made it like I would probably be
another Jordan and mean that made it easier. But man,
(58:03):
it's I don't think nothing will ever get me likes
horrible story. But but an acceptable answer universally for everybody.
You don't even have to be a Brian. I mean,
who's not a Kobe Bryant fan, but you know for
what he accomplished. But man, yeah, Rich and I were
at the airport, we were actually heading to the super Bowl,
the super Bowl, and it's like time froze and everyone
(58:24):
at the airport during the last commercial that even the
t s A agents like broke character and they're like
and everything following it got everybody emotional. So yeah, it's
a it's a great answer, an unfortunate scenario. Here's the
rule though. On Fox Sports Radio sports, I mean, it
makes you emotional. And the reason we're talking about it
if you just joined us is Rich got emotional watching
(58:45):
Ted Lasso and he says, just wait until you see Okay,
I'm not judging, so I haven't seen it, but uh,
I think the rule is, yeah, sports, your your heart's
on the line. If you're a real fan, you know
these are real people, and sometimes you get caught off guard,
you get emotional. Sometimes it's it's valid, But I think
the rule is it could be there's no blubbering, there's
(59:07):
no like if you're blubbering. There's got to be more
to it then your team. In life, it's a happy moment.
You know, if you're blubbering, you might want to talk
to somebody. But that's it. Thanks for Sharon. I appreciate that.
So it could be Ted Lasso, it could be real
life stuff like a Kobe Mighty Ducks, remember the Titans.
(59:27):
There are crying moments in sports, real life and entertainment.
But back to Tenny's games, Okay, I mean lots of takeaways,
lots of huh things that make you go hum before
we talk about riches, House is divided. Um, I got
a few we touched on this before. I mean, I'm
just looking at I'm gonna pick a random game and
just throw throw it down like Ravens Lions. Right, we
(59:50):
said before Lions have fight, they do have fight. Six.
Did the Ravens just take their competition lightly there? I
don't think that is because you saw these these guys have.
The Lions have had fight versus everyone they've played. And
by the way, another defensive pass pass interference on the
(01:00:11):
forty nine is I'm gonna lose my mind. Just when
it was third down. These are all the third down
penalties and we're reaping all the benefits Baltimore. Here's the
crazy part about that sixty six yard field goal. Do
we have the audio of that? By the way, the
off the crossbar, the Baltimore. The Baltimore announcer got got
pretty fired up about this sixty six yard field goal
(01:00:34):
try for Justin Tucker. It will be the longest in
NFL history. If it's good a sixty six yard try.
Tucker's kick is on the way, it is crossbar throw.
It is good time six to get out with the
longest field goal in NFL history. That he is in
(01:00:55):
the bard and it's mayhem on the field. You know,
Oh my god, you've just seen history. Lost my mind.
And Justin Tucker, eight years after he hit a sixty
one yard or to win in Detroit, has silenced the
crowd with the longest field goal in NFL history sixty
(01:01:19):
six yards. Again, he broke Matt Prators field goal record.
He had a sixty four yard field goal and he
missed a sixty eight yard field goal attempt today, So
we saw two records because again Agnew returned it for
a hundred nine yards, which is a record, and Justin
Tucker's new record of the sixty six yard field goal
(01:01:40):
to beat the Lions and the fact that it hit
the crossbar was awesome. It was like it bounced. It's
a wild It's a while to see a guy line
up on the other side of the fifty for an
attempt that that didn't that didn't look weird to your eyes? Did? Yeah? Like, wait,
they're they're attempting a field goal from the other side
of the field sixty six yards. Unbelievable. But what what
(01:02:00):
we've But we're not taking out of that game that
enough people are not saying on social media on the
feedback we're getting. He's sort of saved Lamar Jackson and
the rest of the Ravens from what would have been
talked about all week as a complete letdown, especially after
(01:02:21):
last week's win. After last week's win. Now they're two
in one and all is well in Baltimore, Right, all
is well in Baltimore. There, two in one. They play
the Broncos next week, who many would say is a
soft three now, so they're on their way. The Ravens
lose that game to Detroit. The fact that they beat
the Chiefs a week ago, so like because they just
(01:02:42):
lost to the Lions. So so I think Lamar Jackson
and everyone on that offense that only put up sixteen
points prior to that field goal, and by the way,
couldn't really get the ball in the end zone. It
was all about Tucker today. They all owe him some dinners,
some pumpkins, place Lat's, some drink, some something because he
(01:03:03):
really did save their ass today. Well, I think about it.
If they lose that game, it's like at the Lions
upset the Ravens. Ravens are in trouble, but now it's
like Ravens one. They they snuck one out. I want
to throw the number out there again because we're opening
it up to you things that make you go more
of your takeaways, as you know, as you let it process,
as you catch some of the highlights eight seven seven
(01:03:27):
on Fox and if you're listening in to the future
on the podcast. You can always tweet at us at
Covino and Rich at Rich Davis at Steve Cavino. We
love to interact and see what's up. Let's be friends, guys.
Look at another third down conversion for Green Bay. I
got one for you, though, Rich, this is this is again.
I'm gonna throw a little baby one out there because
this made me saying things that make you go Tom
(01:03:50):
Brady throws it was it was a bad pass because
I feel like he led his guy, Gronkowski, in the
wrong direction. Yeah, he sort of set him up to
get hit hard. And I know Tom Brady the type
of guy to protect his players. He probably feels bad
about that. I don't know the Gronkowski update because obviously
we're here and I haven't checked that. I don't know
(01:04:11):
if bo or Bobo no, Bobo or bo no the
update on Gronkowski, but you know, there he is, he's
he's on the ground, he gets he gets slammed right,
gets hit hard. He's on the ground for like a minute.
And the announcers are like, oh, Gronkowski doesn't wear rib protection,
And I'm like, this dude, you know, getting up there
(01:04:32):
in age. I know a lot of professional athletes don't
wear the proper padding. I get that, but you're you know,
switt as he six five six four. You know, I'm
playing with these dudes who are hitting him right there.
He doesn't wear rib protection. That made me say, like,
when you think about how much money these guys are making,
you're trying to protect the grud if I were to coach,
(01:04:54):
but you gotta wear rib protection. Yes, but but I
get it's restricting. He just didn't want to. But it
didn't make me say, m you know you're in the NFL.
People are coming at you, especially if you're on the Buccaneers.
Everybody's coming at you. Man, let me give you. Let
me say one more, and that's are the Saints for real? Huh?
I don't know. They beat the Pets today, but I'm
(01:05:16):
quite sure. I don't think the Patriots are very good.
So a big question going into Week four. I think
we'll be who are the New Orleans Saints? You know
Week four is going to be really telling. No, it
won't be. It won't be. I'll tell you why. You know,
they're playing the Giants, so they'll win and they'll be
like I meant in for the NFL, I don't necessarily
(01:05:38):
for the Saints because the Saints play the Giants and
you'll be like, well, they should beat the Giants. They're
still trying to size up these teams, man. You know,
styles make fights. We're seeing like two different teams when
it comes to the Saints. I think by week four,
we're gonna have a way better understanding of what's really
going on. And that's what we're trying to do. Wrap
our head. Makes sense of the season so far, for example,
like are are the Rams the real deal? On the grounds?
(01:06:01):
The real deal? Things like that, I think they make
you go your takeaways. Let me ask you that's who's worse? Jets?
Are giants talk the Jets? Yeah? I think. Well, listen
before we get to all your phone calls trending, Steve
to say or give us a scoop, man, what's happening
my man domination from the Packers in the first half?
Shut your mouth. Here at the news desk, it's ten nothing,
(01:06:22):
and there in field goal range at the two minute
warning before halftime, Aaron Rodgers fourteen of sixteen passing fifty
nine yards in a score, Mason Crosby a fifty four
yard field goal. Hey, Steve, would you say it's a
victory for the forty niners if they keep this game
thirteen nothing at halftime? Uh? Yeah, that's a small because
they get they get the ball in the second half
(01:06:43):
and it's just like that. It could be it's they
can't let this be seventeen nothing. At the half. The
Niners have four first downs in the first It's awful.
They're looking terrible rushing as a team seven carries fourteen yards.
So yeah, you get within fourteen points by halftime. Yes,
that's an accomplishment at this point. The Rams are three
and oh after beating Tampa Bay thirty four to twenty four.
(01:07:04):
In that game, four touchdown passes for Matthew Stafford. He
had three hundred forty three yards through the air. The
Raiders are three and oh after an overtime victory against
Miami thirty eight. The Raiders kicked two field goals in
the ot including the game winner at the end of
the ten minutes Denverse three and oh after shutting out
the o n three Jets twenty six nothing. Brandon McManus
four for four on field goals. Minnesota was a winner
(01:07:26):
over Seattle thirty to seventeen. Running Back Dalvin Cook did
not play. Alexander Madison had twenty six carries for a
hundred twelve yards. Also six catches for the Vikings for
fifty nine yards. The Chargers won at Kansas City thirty
to twenty four, so the Chiefs are one and two,
two straight close losses. And Pittsburgh's won in two. Pittsburgh
lost at home to Cincinnati twenty four to ten. Baltimore's
(01:07:48):
win at Detroit was nineteen to seventeen on a record
sixty six year field goal on the final play. Wins
for Buffalo, New Orleans and Cleveland, Tennessee be Indianapolis five
six team culture oh and three Atlanta beat the Giants
in Jersey seventeen fourteen Giants or oh and three and three,
and O Arizona Gotta win at Jacksonville thirty one nineteen Jacksonville,
(01:08:10):
oh N three. Penn State moved up to number four
in the new AP poll. The top three stayed the
same by the way Ohio State linebacker Cabon Pope was
kicked off the team after yesterday's sideline outbursts. NASCAR is
in Vegas tonight for a four hundred, and they are
well passed the halfway point. In fact, through about two
hundred laps of the two sixty seven scheduled, Denny Hamlin
(01:08:30):
in the lead, Tyler Reddick is running second, and in
the Sunday night ball game, it's Yankees winners at five
straight at rival Boston, and the Yankees lead to one
in the bottom of the seventh. The Red Sox do
have second and third and nobody out Toronto and Seattle
already one on the road. As far as this final
week upcoming in the regular season. Right now, the Yankees
(01:08:50):
and Red Sox are tied for the number one wild
card in the a L game and half over Toronto,
two and a half over Seattle, three and a half
games up on Oakland, Dodgers and Giants, each one on
the road. Cardinals won their sixteenth straight game, and the
US goal first won the Ryder Cup easily beating your
up nineteen nine. And by the way, just like that,
Yankees Red Sox tied up. Sack fly to too excited.
(01:09:13):
You keep rooting for the Red Sox. I'll keep rooting
for the Packers deal, I promise you that. Sorry, Steve,
that's it. That's it. No, you know, I'm not sure
what happened. Hey, thanks for that. Man. You know, it's
Cavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. It's Fox Football
Fun Day. But of course there's a big game going
on in baseball, and I'm a Yankees fan, and I'm
(01:09:36):
not sure how I looked down all of a sudden,
they're showing like terrible highlights, the low lights of lazy Sanchez.
Gary Sanchez. I feel like he did something again to
put the Yankees in this scenario and I he drives
me cirk Man. I've never seen a guy play so
lazy and sloppy. What's the lazy Sanchez? Is that some
weird move? That's when you didn't know. It's when you
don't move. Let's it's like, would you believe I? I
(01:10:00):
did the lazy Sanchez last night and it was just
it was underwhelming. He just laid there. I just laid
there exactly better than the other. I feel like he
did something. And now the game is tied in the
seventh Red Socks Yankees. All right, So hey, Rich, we
got a lot of phone calls. I appreciate that. To
the future people listening on the podcast, you know, leave
a comment on our social media at Covino and Rich.
(01:10:22):
But calling now we're live eight seven, seven, six three
six nine again. Things that make you go your takeaways
on week three or maybe even the game that's going
on right now, Green Bay over San Francisco. And then
we're getting a lot of people hit us up about
emotional moments in sports. Yeah, we'll take those as well,
starting with Jeremy and Massachusetts. What's up, man, a freaking
(01:10:43):
I'm You're happy, I'm hold on, hold on, I'm good.
I'm not good. Did you sound like a triple espresso
shot today? What's going on? Seventeen? Nothing? You said I
was shot out of a cannon? Seventeen nothing? Just like
that Riches Riches out of his mind. But again, I
won the forty nine is offense being terrible? Making me cry?
(01:11:04):
And then too, I'm not old enough to witness it live,
but I've got a research project on it, and watch
a few times with secretariat and go back, and you
know what it meant to America at that time and
greatest top three athlete in my mind, you know, just
watching it win all three of the triple crown truly
(01:11:26):
brought cair to my eye. I think I wept like
a little baby watching the Jeremy. That's that's as an
interesting answer. Guess it's interesting. He made me think of
something I think better. To be honest, he made me
think like, can you consider an animal of that athlete?
Tom Brady, Tom Brady, Michael Jordan's secretary time. You know,
(01:11:48):
it's an interesting take, but I don't agree with Jeremy.
I AD's like saying, that's like, let's just tell Evil
Knevil in there for the hell of it. Yeah, Tom Brady,
Michael Jordan's secretary, Evil Knevel Listen that I like it, Ben,
And he made me think of something. So although, hey Jeremy,
I really appreciate it, and hey, there's no wrong answer,
(01:12:10):
right teach his own with prov alone. If that got
you emotional, that's your truth. I'm just having fun with it.
I appreciate you. He made me think of, you know,
the world getting behind it. I don't care about secretariat.
But when Mike Piazza, who's dad passed away, so I
shout out to Mike Piazza, one of your heroes and
(01:12:31):
a really nice guy. We've done several events on Mike Piazza,
super nice guy. When he hit that big home run
after nine eleven, I think the world to get behind that.
That was. That's an emotional, very emotional. It was I
can I can see the tears, like you know, sitting
right there on the edge. It was New York's sort
of like go ahead to again. Smiled. I think was
(01:12:56):
glassy eyed when that happened. That's a magical moment and
the end of SERI was just recently, so you probably
saw those highlights. Um, just a few weeks ago. Let's
go to who do we We got another emotional moment,
Ben in Alabama? What's up? Ben? Hey? Hey? Man? Be
(01:13:16):
a n n what a band? All right, buddy, First
of all, before I give my motional moment, you should
have listened to Bernie Fretto. The two biggest plays by
the pros today were the Elanna Falcons and the Green
Bay Packers. I just thought i'd throw that out there,
two biggest plays. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah at spring Hill.
(01:13:38):
I think you had a couple of hundred grand and
better bets on the Packers. So it didn't it didn't
look good to me. But but I went with him.
Uh just probably before you got time the gim Valvano
sp speech he plays. Man, I remember exactly where I was.
I was a pharmaceutical sales rep. We were having a
(01:14:00):
district sales meeting up in Nashville, and I was in
the hotel room at the Grand Old Offer watching that.
And Man, if you didn't tear up to that, I
don't think you've got a heart. I mean that you
know Joe Tisman and uh Dick Vitel had to literally
carry him up the steps and get him up to
the microphone, and then you can tell how weak and
emaciated he was. But he gave a heck of a speech.
(01:14:21):
Don't give up, don't ever give it, don't ever give up. Yeah, yeah,
cancer can take away everything. But no, you know what,
that's a really great answer, man, It really is. You
have no heart. You boarding events, and I get excited
when you know, like everybody else mad temporarily when my
team loses Alabama. We don't lose much, you know, I'm
(01:14:41):
I'm an out. But but anyway, that yeah, that that
really tugged your heart right there. Hey, thank appreciate your
call again eight seven seven six three six nine. If
you just joined us, rich got emotional watching Ted Lasso,
so you open that up to and everybody way, everyone's
answer seems way better than mine. People are giving like
(01:15:03):
real emotional moments like yeah, but the less we'll got
me fired up. Hey, hey, that's the jump off. It
doesn't matter. You know, sports makes you emotional, especially when
your hearts on the line. Good. The rule I'm making
here is like, is no blubbering Okay, and uh, let's
take one more phone call because again we're talking about
the takeaways of today, things that made you go the
head scratchers that you noticed. Will wrap that up at
(01:15:26):
least for now with Mark in Virginia. Hi, guys, can
you hear me? Yeah, we got you good. I've never
listened to you before, so so far. Kudos. Oh thanks buddy,
real quick emotional moment last Friday, I turned six. Bad day. Anyway,
moving forward, talking about lazy Sanchez, Well, he read the
(01:15:48):
book Lazy Manny Ramirez. Okay, no, no, no, no, that
was Manny being Manny. I used to hate that that,
you know, just like making excuses for somebody. I know
it is a book though. Anyway, Uh, Lamar Jackson and
the Ravens. We look back next last week. I'll be
real quick here. They should have lost that game. We're
not for a fumble. I think the Chiefs guy just
(01:16:09):
couldn't handle that ball right, and then they kicked the
field going on it. So this week and this is
the big picture. I am so tired of people saying
Lamar should not take this chance of that chance. Here's
the deal. Harbaugh is promoting this don't kid yourself. He
wants to win now. He could care about Lamar Jackson's
passing ability because he has none. He's given up on that.
(01:16:31):
I hear people, Oh, he's really improving. If you get
to the NFL as a quarterback, you can't throw the ball.
Wait a minute, I'm I'm pausing saying what's the problem.
So again, Harball is promoting this. He's one win now
he's gonna get nicked real bad. You know what the
Ravens I said before the Ravens. Thanks Mark for the call.
The Ravens had their best window of opportunity two years ago,
(01:16:51):
and you wonder how many more chances that team will get.
We got your feedback, your phone calls. It's Sunday Funday,
Fox Football, Sunday, rich more next, losing our minds in
our minds here, couldn't get it in the end zone. Yeah,
you're you're crying about and I get it. But did
you see this play that Joey Gallo made. I'm sorry,
didn't make any outfield? What is that about? By the way,
(01:17:14):
at Sunday in sports? Is it windy in in Boston
right now? Because we're here in the studio, I can't
I can't hear what they're saying. But the Yankees missed
two pop ups, dropped to pop ups, two errors. Now
the Red Sox are in the lead. Is the eighth
inning there in Boston and richest and for a touchdown
they wait for it, Trey Lance, are you seeing this,
(01:17:37):
jim Jimmy garoppol. That's a fake smile. That's a fake
smile that I want you to look at. That was
That's like when when your girlfriend you're fighting and you
go to her family's house and you're like, hey everyone, yeah, yeah, yo, bobo,
you know what I'm talking about. You know, with a girl,
you go to our family's house. I hate this girl,
but you're like, hey, family, Hey, two seconds left in
(01:18:00):
the half, right two seconds. If they go for a
field goal, they're on the board, and you're st be
happy with that considering how bad they've played. But the
simple fact that you gotta understand if they missed, they're
they're blanked in the half. Instead of putting points on
the board, the conservative call would have said, get the three,
you're down seventeen three. They put Tray Lance in a
(01:18:22):
shotgun formation and he rushes in for a touchdown. That
is that's huge monster that you guys were hoping. Seen
perfect opportunity to put Lance in there, and he delivered.
So there you go. He should be a little excited now,
seventeen seven at half the next half. So yeah, while
(01:18:42):
the Forts are playing the Packers against seventeen seven respectable
a little bit now considering they played terrible respectable. They
get the ball in the second half and it's a game. Now,
that's a ten point game opposed to a seventeen point games.
That's happening. The Yankees made two terrible rors to let
the Red Sox take the lead. And again it's the
(01:19:04):
eighth inning in a really big game. So we're sort
of freaking out, having a freak out, freak out, but hey,
we're doing it live is Fox Football Funday with Cavino
and Rich at Covino and Rich at Steve Cavino at
Rich Davis. Shout out to Steve Bow and Bombo who
are here in the studio with us. But lots to
get to you, guys, Lots to get to know. Let's
(01:19:25):
not over react, buddy, You're still you're still a game
and a half ahead in the wild car. The Yankees
and Boston are still in control. Toronto's behind them, so relax,
take a deep breath. You can't every game counts. You
can't make silly errors like that. I'm assuming that the
wind is just crazy in Boston tonight and that's why
the Yankees dropped two pop ups in row. Yes, I'm guessing,
but you'll have my full focus now because it's halftime
(01:19:48):
of the of the game. Well, I mean, I thought,
because we were working, i'd have your full focus, like
Bobo said. But let me let me just say this,
you know, because I know next how we're gonna talk
about a house divide it. I know your house is divided.
What happens when when you're let's say, your kid or
your wife, your girlfriend, they don't root for the team
that you root for. I thought you were the man
(01:20:08):
of the house. We're gonna talk about a house divided
next hour. But real quick, I don't know if you
saw the fights last night. What are your thoughts on
Anthony Joshua losing to Well, that was yesterday right, because
it was it happened in Manchester. Where where was the fight?
Unfortunately I was flying. I was on the plane, so
I couldn't watch it. But I'm not surprised. Well, I
(01:20:33):
knew USI was gonna put up a fight, right, No,
I just didn't think he was gonna win as convincingly
as he won over Anthony Joshua one sev one, twelve, one, sixteen, twelve, one, fifteen, one,
thirteen and new ib F, w B A and w
B OH champion. Of course, Tyson Fury has the w
B C belt and he's taken on Deonte Wilder till
(01:20:53):
this day, October nine. I'm excited about that, but the
fact that a J lost now that that fight against
Fury is not as dope. Even though he's saying he
wants to fight even without the belts. He wants to
fight those guys. Look, who's six is gonna be a
big name in the heavyweight division. This could mix things
up and could make make it exciting, But it was
(01:21:13):
a bit of an upset for sure. Eight. We know
what they're saying that a J has no heart, Well
it's got no chin. Hey say your feedback next, Covino
Retch on Fox Sports Radio. Yeah, yeah, yeah. In the
game seven. The Yankees blowing this game, And I know
(01:21:36):
it's not like a do or die sort of thing,
but you gotta see his miserable slide from Tyler Wade.
It was just pathetic anyway, I'm Cavino, I'm a Yankees guy,
Yankees fan's Rich Davis's money on the line here with
the forty Niners guy. Welcome to Fox Football Fun Day
eight seven seven six three six nine. I do want
to say thanks to Steve the Sager Bow and Bobo
(01:22:00):
holding it down for us doing a great job today.
I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I hope you enjoyed
your fights. Again. We have a new heavyweight champion, a
new Ukrainian champion. Is this a new sort of clitch
Ko type of arrow where this guy just dominates? Now?
Who is it? Von Kaiser? Von Kaiser was not like
he was German. He he didn't look like a heavy
(01:22:21):
right but was it supermato man? Alexander was sick over
Anthony Joshua. He's got the ib F, W B A
and w B oh. So will he fight Fury eventually?
I know the last couple of years, Anthony Joshua was
looked like less Joe if he asked me a j
has or He's trying to get that rematch right away
with US and UFC two sixty six was a lot
(01:22:41):
of fun last night too. You saw our boy. We
flung out with him a few times. Alexander Volkanovski for
a moment. Yeah, he was getting choked out. He was like,
oh man, my my featherweight belts are gone. They're gone.
Because he was loosing. It looked like he was gonna
lose to Ortega, but he won a five round decision.
He got beat up, he was cut up. But that's
where the heart kicks in, you know what I mean.
(01:23:03):
And I think Anthony Joshua lacked that in the world
of boxing. Props to Chevchenko and Robbie Lawler. Nick Diaz
lost yesterday, That's what everyone was talking about. Yeah, and
Curtis Blades. But a big night of fights and a
big day of football. It's been a great weekend, man,
And now we're capping it off with a little baseball
(01:23:24):
action two. But I don't know if everybody's hanging out
and listening on the layer what Maybe because I'm a
vato loco forever, everybody's on de lay on de lay.
But a lot of people still hunting us up about
things that make you go and things that make you go.
The takeaways from the NFL today, Week three. What were
some of the tweets and texts and feedback. You're getting
(01:23:47):
there and then we're gonna go to more phone calls.
People also still treming in with their emotional sports moments. Yeah,
everyone's like listening on the light today or something. Um
like Emmett said, emotional sports moment when Russell Wilson through
an interception on the one yard line. Oh, my goodness,
crushed his heart. Lisa saying when she was a younger lad,
a younger lady, six mets, all those postseason games gave
(01:24:10):
her heart attacks. Um, non't get this guy saying how
the forty is doing? Shut your face. Um, let's see Chicago.
How many sacks by justin? So many? Um, let's see shoutout?
Al Jay Burton said, the sixty six yard man. How
(01:24:31):
could that not be something that had you gone home?
Because that saved Baltimore's day. I mean it was a record.
We saw two records, not broken, but we saw two
records today. A kick six for a hundred nine yards
and a sixty six yard field goal for the win.
And by the way, your Yankees game, they're showing all
(01:24:54):
the players that have dropped it must be windy that
have dropped, and that have dropped what looked to be
routine pop ups and fly ball watching with no sound.
So it's it's like, what is going on there? I
have a random takeaway, random you know, things that make
you go today. Do you feel Eli Manning got the
proper farewell that he deserved? You know, they retired his
(01:25:15):
number today, I mean Giants retired his number, but I
don't see the enough people making a big stink about it.
Of all the games on the docket, and it was like,
there was the Lameth game. This is something that I
took away from that though. I saw he lying up
there and you know, he's such a goober and he's
up there and his speech was sort of flawless until
the very end he goes and last, but not least right.
(01:25:39):
So he had like a perfect, non flubbing, flubbery sort
of speech, a big thank you to the great New
York ja JA Giants fans, and he just like a
a slight little stumble. I picked up on that, and
I know it's gotta say, he probably doesn't care, but
(01:25:59):
you want that, you want that speech, that mineral speech
to go flawless. So again. He goes in last but
not least, a big thank you to the great New
York Giants fans. He meet me me. It was subtle,
but I noticed it. I noticed it. Michael R. Lewis
hitting us up at Covin on Rich at Fox Sports Radio,
(01:26:22):
saying the Chiefs poop in the bed, but he didn't
say pooping. The Fish are competitive, The Dolphins are competitive.
They're losing, but they were competitive today at least the
Saints rolling past the Pats, who are the Saints? And
the Bungles humiliating steel Town. That was a surprise to him. Uh.
Harry Taylor saying, you guys are the best way to
(01:26:43):
wrap up a weekend on Fox Sports. Thanks Buddy. I
thought the Pats would be closer to the Saints. That's
from Gabe Moreno hit us up? How much a giant stink?
That's from Lex who hit us up? Um that kicked
to beat the Lions tore a lot of people's hearts
out that Zach Hillard and Tim saying his big surprise
and was the Lions thought they were going to get
(01:27:04):
their first win, and you saw a lot of people saying,
well they should have had the layer game on the
play before that. But you know what, that's that. I
don't like that because it takes away from the sixties
six yard field goal. I mean, come on, the Niners
bringing Trey Lance for a third and one. Let's see
what happens here, because again his second snap. Oh but
it's a fake and they get the first down. They
(01:27:26):
got it. So yeah, the Giants do stink. You're right
about that. Whoever said that was it? Zach, You're right.
Falcon seventeen, Giants fourteen. I think I think the highlight
was this Eli Manning getting his number retired to him.
They gave it. They faked that. That was a great decoy.
Put Lance in there for nothing. You check, takes a snap,
dives ahead for one. Alright, so hey, we got a game.
(01:27:49):
We got a game because the Yankees. Yeah, baby's I
love it. The live reactions for Baseball and Football. Judge
with a two run double and the Yankees take a
four to three lead, I would nice, I'm sorry, noise,
I would say so few little people care about the
Yankees right now. It doesn't matter. It's a it's a
(01:28:10):
great game to watch. I'm rooting for the Yankees. Just
giving you the play by play. Of course, I don't
have money on the game like Rich does. This guy
has a problem, I think. But anyway, let's get back
at it. Santo and d C. What's up man? You're
on Caveno and Wretch Sunday Football Fund. What's up Santo?
Not too much? I mean you were talking about what
major emotional There was two things that take out to me.
(01:28:32):
One of them was when they'll earn her passed away? Yeah,
it was. It was a great weekend. It was. It
was a great brace. I had just gotten home from church,
witnessed the accident that they had, and it was it
was a bit of a blower. And uh, of course
when Sean Taylor was taking Sean was only but a
few days younger than me, older than me, And I'm
(01:28:55):
sitting there watching this young guy changed his life and
turned it around and being something major still and one
day he's him, the next day he's gone. You know, yeah,
those are those are definitely emotional moments. Thanks with the call.
Can't make fun of you for that, Um, you're you're human.
I'm reading. We got we got a lot of feedback day.
(01:29:17):
Thank you guys so much. At Covino and Rich, Kevin
Cedar home hit us up saying, Yo, here's the big
takeaway today. The Seahawks are pretty bad. Their middle pass
a middle run game is killing him. Uh time hold on.
As we established earlier, it's a matter of how Russell
Wilson's feeling that day. He knows he is he playing
(01:29:40):
lights out? Is he on fire? Is he just he
doesn't have it? He doesn't have it? Then this guy
says he's calling himself rad Mike said that defense looked
bad Seahawks. He's a big Seahawks fan. Mac Jones not
playing like an NFL quarterback yet. That's from Damien. So
a lot of takeaways and hey here we are give
(01:30:01):
me this Sunday night a week through the NFL. And
I really I've said this before Comino, and I'll say
it again just even for like just people Sunday watching
habits and just how like seasonally how you live your life.
Football Sundays really are game changing. To me, it's out
(01:30:23):
of control. Like to me, it's like the rest of
the months that football is not on, It's like at Sunday,
what am I gonna do? Go to home depot, That's
what I'm gonna target with my wife That's why Rich
always says that you have to date somebody for a
full calendar year, because what if the woman you're with
has no patience for your Sunday habits when football season
comes around? You know, that could be? That could be
(01:30:44):
I've had because I've had, I've had buddies, men and women.
She's perfect, bro, I've had a football season comes around,
she has no patience for it. I've had friends date
people and they haven't seen them in all seasons. And
I remember saying like, yeah, but you know, a hey, sal,
do you know does that girl know that for like
half the year every Sunday you're drunk. Does she know
(01:31:07):
that you're like way into football? Yeah? Again, maybe betting
on the team's well either way, some great games. Football's back.
We're having fun doing this. This is only our third
show on Fox Sports Radio. Has been great so far.
By the Yanks. By the way, it's over. Is that
a Stantonian blast? Oh, Jehan Carlo when you say that
(01:31:30):
it makes people hate it? Well, listen, I want to
set this up and then get into it. You know, Rich,
as we've established, as you guys could tell, he's pulling
his hair out over here watching the forty Niners lose
to the Packers. He's a forty Niners guy. But get this,
as you Fox Sports Radio friends get to know us
a little more. His wife is a Green Bay Packers fan.
(01:31:55):
Her dad raised her to be a Green Bay Packers
and so it's sort of a house divide it. But
it gets even more sticky because your brother right hates
the Ravens and he moved to Maryland and he married
a family of Ravens fans and for whatever reason, like
his mother in law, right, his hardcore and he hates
the race. So there's like a weird like tension in
(01:32:17):
the air. But it's like legit because you know, no
one wants to have someone rooting against your team and
your own home. Like that's pretty frustrating. Like I remember
my my classic example was I think the year I
don't know. It was one of the years, one of
the many years the Yankees were in the postseason, and
like I had a dude come over like ruining against them, Like, yeah,
(01:32:38):
I'll beat it, dude, I was. I was there. You
had people over. This is when we lived on the
East Coast. You had people over in New Jersey. It
was a Yankees red Sox game and I specifically remember
absolutely something. Dude. It's like, my friend's gonna roll here,
my sister's boyfriend at the time, and he starts saying
(01:32:59):
stuff like ghost socks, and I'm like and he had
a Sox jersey and I'm like, wow, there's someone in
Caveno's whole like you're killing my vibe. Ruting and rooting
against felt like it was a little rude, like Rocky Balboa.
This guy's a little rude, you know, being a little
rude in my house. You know, he was at my
house rooting against my team. I wanted to open a
door and be like out, wanted to dismiss him. So
(01:33:21):
we want to open it up to you on your
stories and how to handle a house divided, and we'll
give you more updates and more fun on his Fox
Football Sunday with Cavino and Rich. We do it next.
It's Fox Football Funday Sunday with Caveno and Rich at
(01:33:42):
Copno and Rich fired up, Bro, I'm fired up because
it's seventourteen Green Bay and on a third and one,
Davante Adams just dropped up ball, so Niners looks like
obviously punted. It's I love the gray live feel and
and vibe and vibe of Fox Sports Radio hanging out
(01:34:04):
with you. But the way you're hyping up the forty
Niners right now, if they lose, if I'm not wishing
that on you as a fan, but if they lose,
I hope everyone listening just totally rags on you, like
you're setting yourself up for that. So hit him up
and make fun of rich Rich Davis. You could Rich
Davis on social media. If they lose, please rub it in,
Please rub it in. I'm just saying you could you
(01:34:25):
know who you could rub it into. The braggy fan.
I'm not bragging. I'm just rooting. The guy. That's the
guy that brags about his team. That's the guy who
you could bust his chops. It's like, my team's the best,
like that guy. That guy you make fun of, the
guy that just roots. I'm just rutkay. I make just
making it clear. And if you're the Yankees fan that's
like twenty seven rings with the greatest dank that guy.
(01:34:48):
You Hey, I'm not that guy, but I will give
you the update. I'm a big Yankees fan. They're up
six to three. It's a big game. The Yankees and
the Socks have the same exact record right now, so
you know it's a big game. There's something wild about
the fact that we're a hundred and fifties some hot
games into a season and the Yankees and the Red
Sox have the same record and sixties seven and the
(01:35:11):
Yankees have won five in a row. And it looked
like they were playing a little sloppy until a Stantonian
blast from John Carlo Stanton. I'm sure the home run
call went a little something like this, Ned's high, Ned's far,
Ned's gone, John Carlo stay Parlow, I don't know what
(01:35:32):
he says. And the Yankees take a six to three lead.
Thank you John Sterling for the call. He's uh something
in Italian that means like he can't be stopped or
something that's that's an acquired taste. I'm guessing, John Sterling.
Everyone's staring at you like it must be an acquired taste. Oh. Absolutely, yeah.
(01:35:53):
But the Yankees are winning. In the eighth inning at Fenway,
and again lazy Sanchez was playing sloppy, and I think
it was a really windy game going on. We're here
in the studio, we got the baseball game on. We
have the forty Niners game on, and we've established that
Rich is a forty Niners fan. He's a football fan
through and through, but his you know, his team's to
forty Niners since he was a little kid. Yeah, I'm
(01:36:15):
I'm to me football season and the sport of football like,
by far, Trump's any other sport, Bigley, I said Trump,
I might as well say big lea, um, yeah, trumps
any other sport to me? By far, I'm I'm a
Mets fan. You know, I love I love the n
B A you know, not a hockey guy, but to me,
(01:36:36):
football is number one. By far, Let's go to your
phone calls, things that made you go, your takeaways and
the house divided? And how do you handle it if
everyone in your home, under your under your roof doesn't
root for the same team. I have a theory. I
have a theory that I'm gonna I guess so I'm
gonna spread the good word to all of you. I
(01:36:56):
have a theory on how to handle this. And first
of all, go to Mitch in New Jersey. Let's go
to Mitch. We'll start with Mitch. What about the charges,
you know them browns and the Troy and the lines
do they when they lost today, they'll be courage for real.
They weren't a close ones and that was a good
(01:37:18):
run for the mind. Way see I didn't even go
far to sea. What do you think? Yeah, I said it.
I said it before. Um, you get the vibe that
historically sometimes teams can't escape their reputation. For years and years,
the Charges were the team that lost close games, right,
and it looks like now we look they're winning close games.
So you know, it's it's it's a good thing for
(01:37:42):
you being if you're a Charges guy and you like
the Charges because they have all the talent. Herbert, how
do you not like that? Guy? I mean, so, hey,
I think the Chargers do look good that division. The
two softest teams in the division are three and oh
so who knows football is crazy like that? We'll see
in a couple of weeks from now. Let's go to
Jim in Brooklyn. What's up, Jim? Thank you, Mitch he
man Jim handing out for a while and he loved
(01:38:03):
the show. I want to let you know my minnes
sort of like he's really took it to the Seattle
Seahawks and the Seattle fans out there, he's finally did
a big finally beat a big team, a big name team.
Might Russell Wilson. I know Russell is a little bit
under Latte then right now, and I know they felt
(01:38:24):
their oats, but they got everything they wanted for that
Minnesota defense, but that offensive Kirk Cousins, he finally moved
the ball. What are you supposed to do? You look
great today, man, but you know you hey, forget about it. Jim,
Jim from Brooklyn, forget about Let me tell you about
this guy. He's right Brooklyn, Jim, Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Jim. You
(01:38:48):
better be rooting for the forty Niners right now because
if the forty Niners win tonight, the NFC North Green
Bay would be one and two, Chicago one and two,
and Minnesota one and two. So after a one and
two tough start, you're tied for first place. So any
Minnesota Vikings fan, after a really nice win today over
(01:39:08):
the Seattle Seahawks, you should be watching this game rooting
for Jimmy Garoppolo like he like he's your boy, because
the forty Niners have every opportunity to there in this
game now right They're in this game, Green Bay loses
that North is tied up at one and two, one
and two and one and two. So, um, do you
ever wonder as I watch Aaron Rodgers walk off the field,
(01:39:31):
why he wears that week whack chin strap that never
dawns on you. He rocks like the generic chin strap
with no padding at all. Probably comfortable. I was talking
about this with I was talking about this with one
of my buddies the other day. I mean, I know
that's like a random observation, but it bothers me because,
like this guy's begging to get knocked in the chin.
(01:39:53):
I was saying the other day that there are certain
things that seem easy in sports. That's because we're not
professional athletes, so it looks easy. I was saying, you
watch people play tennis, it looks easy. Meanwhile, those guys,
like the cardiovascular discipline you need to even play tennis casually,
tennis might be number one. That looks easy. That's not right.
(01:40:14):
Tennis is hard, but what I'm saying looks easy. Average. Then,
even if you're a good athlete, there's there's a skill
required in tennis that you don't practice. You just suck.
That's one of them. But I was saying something the
average idiot that that is even athletic. Would it be
able to do? That would be catch a punt with
(01:40:37):
a helmet and pads, a punt whirling in the sky
in a stadium, bouncing around defenders rushing towards you. You're
wearing pads and you have a helmet on your head.
I bet you, out of a hundred regular guys that
played any level of high school sports or anything, drop it.
(01:40:58):
It's not as easy as they can look for sure,
what does that have to do? It? At chin strap?
Because I think a lot of times you don't want
big obstructions in your face. And I think maybe Aaron
Rodgers is like, yeah, I just I don't want some
big thing on my mouth and face. Like some guys
don't want all those bills who us to look at
look at up, what's it? But not think. I think
(01:41:22):
about Rob Gronkowski today, you were surprised he doesn't wear
rib guards and rib pads. You know why, because guys
don't want all this bulk on them, no difference. Aaron
Rodgers like, yo, I want a simple little chin guard
the end to the end. Yeah, So all right, now
tell us the story about what's going on, what's doing
at home. Yeah, you know it's just been going on
(01:41:42):
for for a long time. But did did you get
a little sticky? Or is it because you have kids
now and are starting to grow up you're trying to
decide who they root. That's that's the funny part, endlessly
the way I think dad gets to say. And not
to sound sexist, bro, but you know, women get plenty
of say they do. You know, they probably your your
wife probably had final say on what their name and
the kids. And I think that's fair because you get
(01:42:04):
final say on on what team that you're sort of
going to steer them toward. You can't make them, but
I mean steer them toward. Let me tell you, am
I wrong for thinking that? As much as I love
and the Mets, I would never let sports get in
between the in between me and a fine woman at
(01:42:26):
any point in my life, including my wife when I
met her. I was never I would never be like,
oh my god, you're a Yankees fan. I love the Mets.
I could I could not care less when there's guys
that are like a nice, nice Heine Trump's You're allegiance to.
If there was ever a guy that's like, I like
the Cubs, but she's a White Sox family. You're a
(01:42:47):
freaking maniac loser. If you would to date a girl
because of her sports alliance, you've taken it too far.
So my my, I guess you would say. My answer
is you should never care what team you're significant other
roots were to the level where you would question not
being with them, Like it could end up being like
a fun little thing between you. Awesome that a they
(01:43:10):
care enough to even have an alliance that they like
the sport. You're already on the on the winning side
of this, like, oh, they like the sport. And if
they don't like the sport that you like or root
for the team you for, if they can appreciate your
passion for it, that's just this good. Like I don't
need someone rooting with me as long as they understand
that I'm rooting and it's important to me, and you know,
(01:43:31):
they understand what comes along with that. I don't think
when it when it's when it's that type of stuff,
I don't think it's I don't think it's Hey, I'm
a Phillies fan. So I couldn't date her because she
likes the Braves fanatic, Like, honestly, you are a loser
at that point. If you've decided to not date someone
(01:43:51):
because of their sports alliance, you probably wear a beer helmet. No,
now here's the here's the caveat though, Well, I just
made fun of all this. I'm an Inners fan. My
wife and I told you as you said, they're all
Packers fans. You were never on the fence about getting
like I promise you. My wife is probably uh putting
the kids asleep right now. I'm not even watching this game.
(01:44:12):
But her dad was texting me like tonight we're out
of me and I'm like, yeah, Dave, and I you know,
I I shoot the s with her dad about it.
But her dad hit me up and he's like, you're
gonna put baby emmy, And my daughter's not a baby,
she's my daughter's four. He's like, I bought her a
little Green Bay Packers cheerleader's outfit. I'm like, I got that, dude.
You know what I would respectfully say, it's your father
(01:44:33):
in law. No can do, Bobody, No thanks. I've never
passed on booty because of her girl's alliance. And you know,
I'm a happily married guy. My wife likes different teams.
But when father in law is buying sports gear from
my kids, hey man, that's crazy. I'm a Cowboys fan.
My girl is it? Is it uh Titan fan because
(01:44:55):
she's from Memphis. Luckily, her parents aren't big avid sports people,
so I ain't got none word about but she knows
when the Cowboys come on. Okay, babes in his own
let me just let me just back up. That's the
way it should be. This is a This is a
little sticky for you, though, rich and I know it's
only good fun. It's not like you're gonna you know,
it's gonna ruin your relationship with your father in law
(01:45:15):
or anything, but you don't want no way like I
feel like in a in a he's not trying to
step on your toes. But I feel like he crossed
a little bit of a line. Like I said, it's playful.
I get all that. I don't care that your kid
wearing opposing team colors and jersey here that much. But
he said something to the effect of like, well, like
(01:45:35):
one of your one of your kids. I have two kids.
Have for people know to convene on wretch. I have
a four year old daughter and a one and a
half year old son. He's like, whoa, you know, Ben,
my son could be a Niners fan, and uh, little
Emmy could be a Packers fan, Like like, you're like
her mother and he's trying to flex his dominance. But
I'm like, Dave, like you're kids. How maybe maybe they were,
like maybe they root like might team? Honest to god,
(01:45:59):
I think you have. I think there's no debate here,
and I hate agreeing with rich. Wait, let me ask
you a question. What if they grow up and become
big like Patrick Mahomes fans and want to be Chiefs fan?
That's cool, I'll be honest. I have a friend that's
a huge Yankees fan on the East Coast and his
kid loves like other players on other teams, and he's like, listen,
he just loves the sport. But I don't get that.
(01:46:20):
I have a friend that's I get I get it now.
I get it now because we've been broadcasting for years, right,
and you start rooting for players because you meet them
and you realize they're cool. And I think kids, you know, nowadays,
with fantasy sports and things like that, they start to
like somebody's opposing players for who they are, not necessarily
the team. So let's say a as a I know,
(01:46:41):
let's just say, uh, he's a Patrick Mahomes fan, Like,
how can you stop him from Mike and Mahomes At
this point, he's he's appreciating greatness. That's how I see,
as long as he's not, you know, rooting for the
opposing team. One of my good buddies who lives down
in Texas, lifelong Spurs fan, like you know, he even
worked with the Spurs. Like, he's like Spurs all day.
(01:47:02):
His kids obsessed with Steph Curry and Rocking Warriors jersey.
He's like, what am I gonna do? My kid loves
Steph Curry jersey. Yeah, the jersey. Better go get this jersey.
I mean, I I feel what you're saying. Man. Let's then, Bob,
let me give you another one last spin on this
and then we'll we'll see what's trending with Steve to say,
(01:47:22):
we'll get some updates. But I grew up in New York.
I'm a sad Mets fan. What if my kids are like, hey,
we live in l A, Dad, like you grew up
in New York. We want to root for the Dodgers.
Am I gonna have my kid be the outcast at
roots for the crappy Mets, or or what if my
son all his buddies are Dodgers. There's a rule for that.
Rich he roots for his dad's team, he's allowed a
(01:47:45):
secondary team. At that point, he's allowed to like a
second right, like you're allowed, and at least it's justified. Like, hey, man, hey,
he's growing up in l A. You know, why do
you like the Mets because my dad raised me to
like the Mets in the world's a smaller place now.
It's not like he can't watch the Mets on the
MLB app or whatever, right, because you watch the Mets.
He's watching the Mets. But he's allowed to say, well,
I'm from l A, so I do root for the Dodgers,
(01:48:07):
but if they're playing the Mets, I'm rooting for the Mets.
You're allowed to have a secondary team. There's rules to this.
But you know, women have their say. Listen, I have
certain things in my home that I didn't pick out
because my girlfriend had the final say. When it comes
to your sports alliances, if you're hardcore like Parkour, you
(01:48:30):
as the guy have the final say. And then hey, listen,
let's don't don't it goes both ways? Was gonna say
it does both ways, just so that you don't sound sexist.
If the woman is a more dominant sports fan and
the guys sort of like a lazy doesn't care about
lazy Sanchez. Yeah, he's a lazy he's a lazy Sanchez.
Then then yes, she has finals. I totally agreed. And
(01:48:50):
on that note, Steve the Sager, what's up, my man? Well,
the Packers were ahead at the Bay Area seventeen nothing
late for a SF. It's now seventeen fourteen as they
go to the fourth order. Davante Adams with ten receptions,
ninety yards and a touchdown. Aaron Rodgers is twenty of
twenty three, passing for two hundred seven yards in that
one yard t d late first half two Adams. The
(01:49:12):
Rams are three and oh, got four touchdown passes from
Matthew Stafford today and beat Tampa Bay thirty four twenty four.
Stafford started one of six through the air and then
went twenty six of thirty two the rest of the
day three three yards, Las Vegas one and goes to
three and oh and overtime win against Miami thirty one
eight running back Josh Jacobs was out with the ankle injury.
(01:49:34):
Peyton Barber of the Raiders twenty three carries a hundred
eleven yards and a touchdown. Denver is three and oh
after shutting out the Jets twenty six to nothing. Jets
oh and three. Jets offense eleven drives, eleven first downs,
only one hundred sixty two yards of total offense. And
then there was the Bears at Cleveland. It was twenty six.
The final rookie quarterback Justin Fields was sacked nine times.
(01:49:57):
The Bears on forty two plays had forty seven in
total yards, six first downs in the whole game is
arabless Miles Garrett alone four and a half Sexs Tennessee
in Arizona with wins. Atlanta kicked to field goal final
play to beat the Giants seventeen fourteen Giants or oh
(01:50:17):
and three, New Orleans and Buffalo with wins. Baltimore one
seventeen at Detroit Lions are oh and three. Ravens won
on a record sixty six yard field goal on the
final play from Justin Tucker. Cincinnati one at Pittsburgh to
ten and the Chargers won at Kansas City thirty to
twenty four. Justin Herbert four touchdown passes, including the game
winner with about thirty seconds left. So two straight close
(01:50:39):
losses for the Chiefs there one and two on the season.
Penn State moved up to number four in the new
a P Pole. The top three stayed the same. What
a ball game it has been in Boston top of
the ninth now, I mean entertaining, not not flawless errors mistakes,
but entertaining Yankees a six three leader at Boston in
the top of the ninth, Yankees a five game winning streak.
(01:51:01):
At the moment, these two rivals are tied for the
number one wild card in the American League. What's all
the errors about? Because we can't hear the game? Is
it really windy in Fenway right now? It's not inordinately windy.
One guy just didn't find the railing in foul territory
and the bull dropped. Another second baseman was going back absolutely.
Another guy with a very poor slide at second base
and got caught stealing Tyler Wade. What what was that? Yeah,
(01:51:25):
that's a good question. What was that? Somebody said he
was waiting instead of sliding, and he was out at
second base. There was, in fact in the seventh thing.
Bottom of the seventh, Boston took a brief lead on
a sack fly and an air, but the Yankees came back.
Top of the eighth, Aaron Judge was up and it
was strike three on them, but they ruled the catcher
drop strike three, when actually he caught the pitch and
(01:51:47):
clearly on the transfer to the bare hand to throw
it back, he dropped it. Amazingly. It was not reviewed,
so Judge stayed up and hit a two run double
for the lead. Stanton follows with a two run homer
nearly four fifty feet, so the lead is six three
Yankees at Boston top of the ninth inning. Toronto is
a game and a half out. With one week to
play in the regular season. Toronto and Seattle each one
(01:52:07):
on the road. Oakland got a run bottom of the
ninth to beat Houston four three. Houston's lost four in
a row, so the Strow's magic number is still two
to clinch the a O West Division grownd. The Brewers
clinched the NL Central title today beating the Mets eight
to four. Dodgers and Giants each one. The Giants scored
four in the top of the ninth son of six
to two. Thank you Giants. First in the NL. That's
(01:52:31):
still two games ahead of the Dodgers with a week
to play. Atlanta, first in the East, got a four
three win over the Padres, who were eliminated last night.
Philly's got shut out at home six nothing by Pittsburgh.
And the update on the Sunday night ball game. Yeah,
twelve yard touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers extra point will
make it twenty four to fourteen at San Francisco. It's
early fourth quarterback to you now. It's beautiful passed. Yeah,
(01:52:54):
I mean Aaron Rodgers put it where it needed to be.
I can't. I can't argue that. Butender just any time
has jumped slightly off. On a side note, we gotta
acknowledge it looks a little bit, but you gotta acknowledge
that Aaron Rodgers is shutting everybody up, anyone that doubted him.
I mean, yeah, after the first week, it looks like
(01:53:15):
he's back. It looks like he's back big time. Um, hey, Rich,
I know we're gonna go to the phones. I'm sorry
you're down, that's right. I want to get some feedback
on the house divided. How do you handle it if
your wife or girlfriend or your kid is choosing a
team that you don't like and root four? How does
that work? But your thoughts, because it is getting late early.
(01:53:37):
By the way, my brother takes it way too serious
as I as I it should be fun. Rightfully said
this before My brother moved to Maryland, and he because
he went to college at thousand and he stayed there.
He hates the Ravens, but all his coworkers, all his
Maryland people, his mother in law, his spouse, everyone's Ravens.
(01:54:00):
So I was like, well, don't you like tolerate them?
He's like, when they're watching the game and cheering, I
go in the other room. I'm like, all right, slow down,
was like, grow up here, thirty something year old guy, Jimmy. So,
if you have any thoughts on that, we made some
rules already, but if you have any thoughts or stories,
please share them. At eight seven seven sixty three sixty
nine eight seven seven sixty nine, We're Cavino and Rich
(01:54:24):
justin Fields. By the way, underwent a precautionary X ray
after the game on his throwing hand and it came
out negative. He said, he's fine. Was he just looking
for something that was wrong? Like something must be wrong?
Sixty yards? Terrible six for twenty sixty eight yards? That
is no buyo. No can do. As we said before.
(01:54:48):
What's your thoughts on tomorrow's game? Eagles Cowboys? You got
action on this? Your boy taking me to teaser town?
What's going on? I don't. I don't bet on something.
I don't bet on Monday Nights until I until I
see how I did all of which broadcast you watch,
you know what. I'll be honest, I changed my I don't.
I'm not gonna say I was wrong, but I think
(01:55:10):
it depends on what one you watch first. I said that, though,
and you dismissed me. Now you're the greatest of what
he wants? Are you? At least saying now you understand
what I was saying. You didn't say that exact. You
had said that exactly. You had to exact the mondo,
the Kim Baymin Tumbo word for word is what I said?
Oh yes, sir, Steve Kerr said, you know, in defense
(01:55:32):
to the Mannings broadcast, it seemed low budget after watching
the traditional Monday night broadcast. That's what you said, and
I said, well, I watched the Mannings, thought it was exciting,
and then the the regular broadcast seemed a little like uneventful.
But Week two, last Monday night, when it was Lyons Packers,
(01:55:52):
I started with the broadcast and then went to the Mannings.
And when I watched the Mannings, I was like, oh,
this now seems Yeah. How come I only makes sense
when you say it's what I'm saying. I just feel
like I felt like I know more. Were you like,
are thick headed? And your boso and you're not listening.
That's exactly what I'm saying. It's it's unreal to me
that you're saying the same exact thing. But it only
(01:56:13):
makes sense when you say it. Huge comment Steve Camino
greatest guy on Earth? No you are. Yeah, I'm trying
to be nice because his Fox Sports Radio. I'll save
it from our podcast tomorrow Coveno and rich on Patreon.
I'm trying to be nice. Trying to be nice anyway,
which one you watch? What I'm saying was I didn't experiment.
(01:56:34):
You said I broke out the buns. I said, I
broke I broke out. I broke out the beakers and
bunks and burners and thedn't experiments. Each week, I watched
a different Monday night broadcast. First, you did not do that.
You just said one thing. Anyway, you're the greatest guy,
Steve Comino. You couldn't be more wrong about it at
Steve Camino. Let him know he's the greatest man on earth.
Everybody rich is rich is a fool. He's just repeating
(01:56:55):
what I said and thinks he said it first because
now it makes sense, or now now it applies because
he understands. I guess what Discovered matches all your cash back?
Oh did you say that first? Um, Discover matches all
your cash back you earn on your credit card at
the end of your first year. It's amazing because discovers
accepted at the places in the US to take credit cards.
(01:57:16):
Learn more. Everybody at discover dot com slash yes nilson
report limitations apply. I hope your forty nine is geting
annihilated now. Well. I hope your Yankees. I hope you Yankees.
I hope your Yankees lose a one game playoffs and
this whole thing was meaningless for you. I hope you're crying.
I hope you cry more. You're not my friend more
coven Rich next. All right, so we thanked all the
(01:57:40):
crew on his Fox Sports Radio Sunday Funday Football Funday
with Covino and Rich. I want to thank everyone that
hit us up tonight at Covino and Rich, all the
people that called. We appreciate you guys a lot. Man,
It's a lot of fun for us. We got our
games on having fun doing his Sunday Night with you guys.
And if you like what you're hearing, please check out
our Patreon everything at Covino and we do this Monday
(01:58:00):
through Friday. We've been doing this for years, but this
has become our highlight of the week. But thanks for
hanging guys. Yeah, I love this every Sunday night coming
on Rich Sunday Funday Fox Football. Um, hey babba, let
me ask you a question. Is it peculiar if I
like hang out here until the end of the game, Like,
is it cool if I just do it? Okay? Because
(01:58:20):
I was like, I'm not gonna there's like ten minutes
left in the game, and if we wrap up the
show right now, You're just peculiar. Period. I was gonna say, like,
I don't want to be like, does this guy, have
a home. I have a home. Guys, all right, I
mean you're a weird guy regardless, So you didn't get
into argument with your wife before you left. I did not.
I don't. I don't want you to think like I'm gonna.
I want you to to think I could be sleeping under
the desk here and h you know, Dan Patrick finds
(01:58:41):
me in the morning, speaking of speaking of arguing guys, Um,
I have a theory right when you when you see
a couple bicker, right, you and I bicker. But I'm saying,
like a married couple and they're bickerying about things. I
always feel like the solution is YouTube. YouTube. Just need
to get it on, Just get it on. You know
who I think needs to get it on? Like in
a RD way. You always say the two people from
(01:59:01):
Love It are listed, Oh yeah on HDTV. If anyone
listening and watches HDTV love It or list It, there's
a there's a British woman and this other guy who
seems like a real nice guy, this bald guy. It
looks like jeff An Gundy. He's great. I like him.
He's a nice guy. You know, they're always big. They
need to get it on, big time these two, he
(01:59:21):
settle it. But you know who really needs to settle it?
Who needs to get it on in your mind? Oscar
dal La Hoya and Dana White. Oh yeah, you know,
I don't know if he saw this. Yo Volcanowski one
yesterday right UFC and Oscar de Lahoya tweets out, hey,
Alex Volkanovski, who again when UFC two sixty six last night?
(01:59:43):
You just want a brutal battle he did for UFC
and made one of what you're worth. And then he
adds Dana White on Twitter, Dana White, have some effing
respect for yourself and these fighters and pay these warriors
what they deserve. So he calls out White publicly, and
they've always been bickering back and forth, but it's sole
like public and odd and like. And then Dana White
(02:00:05):
he comes right back, hope. But we had a female
friend hit us up yesterday that asked Kevino and I
they thought Joe Rogan and Dana White with the same person. Yeah, like,
well they're two bald white guys, you know, with a
lot of money, and yeah, I get it with une.
Dana White says, shut the f up, you crackhead. This
is his response to day La Hoya faking that you
(02:00:28):
had COVID and robbing me of watching you get knocked
the f out by Peter Belfort. You should win an
Academy Award for your hospital performance. And then like all
these other fighters between UFC and boxing and UFC fans
and Golden Boy fans went back and forth. But there's
so much beef. They're like, my My only solution to them,
(02:00:49):
based on like we said earlier, is like they need
to get it on. Yeah, like that's not how I'm
trying to keep it clean here for Fox Sports Rade Ring,
but they really need to fire or something like. It's
really ridiculous. So hey, that's the gossip in the fight world.
Because there's more to life than football, believe it or not.
But it's been a fun, fun Fox Football, fun day
with you guys. Any final words, rich Um, any takeaways
(02:01:13):
from this Green Bay game they just put They put
Trey Lance in the game and he rolled out and
it looks like I'm hoping it's a defensive holding in
the end zone. Might be first in goal from the
one I'm hoping that's what it is. From the sour
puss look on Matt la Fleur's face. I think that's
what it is. Holding defense. Yep, Matt Lafleur looked like,
you know who's got the most ultimate sports sour plus
(02:01:34):
of all time? I mean Bill Belichick comes to borrow?
Oh no, you know that's a good one, though. You
know who I think has the biggest sports sour puss.
Maybe we save this riveting conversation for next week, but
I think it's buckshow all time. Yeah, his face just
scream like, come on, think about it, guy, you know what,
Think about that all week and we'll discuss it next week.
(02:01:55):
But hey, a huge thank you to all of our
listeners and our new friends and everyone here. We appreciate it.
The show and the feedback continues at Coveno and Rich
and just like that, it's ill. I'm gonna stick around
here and watch. We'll see you guys next week. I'll
leave it there at you baby, see you in your
promised land. Goodbye,
