Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Morning Buddy, Happy happy, happy,
happy Happy Fox Football Saturday. I love these Saturdays with
our football and it's a great one today, lots of
(00:25):
good college football and uh we kick off of course,
the NFL weekend on Thursday night with the Rams beating
ross Man Russ going out early. He's gonna be out
four to eight weeks. Man Seattle dealt a blow. And
(00:45):
now there are probably three teams in that incredible NFC West,
so one has been basically eliminated, and that'll be three
teams because that division is is incredible. So we'll get
into all your Week five. I can't believe it's week
five already in the NFL. I told you it goes
by quick Man, you know, Septembers of blink. We're already
(01:08):
approaching the middle of October. I mean, think about it.
Today is October the nine, you know, I mean already
we're in when it goes by fast Man. As soon
as football hits, it's like you're on warp speed. So
we're gonna get into everything. We'll do all of our breakdown,
our college breakdown. The Red Rivers shootout today, one of
(01:32):
the great games in college football. Oklahoma Texas and this
one should be very competitive. And I'm I'm like in Texas, man,
I think Texas is right. They're so close to being back.
I think when the University of Texas is is good,
(01:53):
all is right in college football. So I do and
I do like Texas today. I think they can beat
his Oklahoma team. Oh Miss coming back the Okay Corral
after they shot blanks against Batman. Oh my god, was
Alabama good? Did they just clamped down in a monstrous
(02:16):
way over Ole Miss and that corral? Well, today they're
at back at against Arkansas and see if they get
back into their winning ways. I like them. The Jewel
of the Day takes place in Iowa City at four
o'clock right here on Fox. Would have gained three verses
(02:38):
four Iowa versus Penn State and this and this is
football at its greatest. Oh my god, this is gonna
be going Clifford versus Petris, uh and Goodson because there's
gonna be a lot of run and Uh, it's gonna
be Clifford trying to make stuff happen down the field
(03:00):
to dots in and I was city. It's gonna be
really that's a great game. Another great one tonight under
the lights in Blacksburg, Virginia Tech and Notre Dame, and
of course Michigan, who has just been it's been a
great year. Hardballs put it together. They went into into
(03:22):
Wisconsin last week in a tough environment and the most
impressive thing about that game is they dominated play and
then Wisconsin goes back and scores right before halftime, making
thirteen ten. And they had all the momentum in the
world and they came back and they just snuffed them out.
Impressive win by Michigan to go to five. And oh,
(03:44):
now they have a test in Lincoln in Nebraska, another
team in the SEC. Go figure, how about it? Not
Rick Pettino, It's Kentucky football and they got l s U.
It's a great game. Five. And oh the Kentucky Wildcats
with a great defense. Man, they have a smothering defense.
(04:09):
And I always choose want to come back, always use
a pretty good team. They're back. I like that, Max Johnson.
So we'll see about that game. That's really good. Alabama
back and over A and M. And they're only an
eighteen point favorite under the lights against A and M.
The strange one, A strange line is there a comeback.
(04:30):
I just don't think so. I mean, they were TiO
ridiculous last week and we'll see. Is A and m
able to exploit them. I don't know. But fun day
in college football and of course baseball. What a day yesterday.
Four games starts off White Sox and Strows in the
(04:52):
afternoon and it was it was tight four four, back
and forth. The Socks had to lead. They jump out
to afford a two lead. They scored three and the five,
but they the Astros explode. That offense is ridiculous. They
chased the Alito and uh monster days for Gorrielle and Alvarez.
(05:17):
You already was terrific and uh Tucker with the exclamation
mark in the home run. They go on to win
nine four. They take it to oh lead in that
series against the Socks against the South Siders, Brewers and
Braves was classic baseball. Burns against Morton. Morton was tremendous
(05:42):
for much of that game. At one point, it's stricken.
It struck out eight guys hit through thirty nine pitches.
It was ridiculous and the difference, the only difference was
the rowdy Talaz home run to break the score. Was
that was amazing. Oh my god, it was amazing. He
(06:07):
gets a new bat, hits a home run, and that's
the difference to one. Milwaukee over Atlanta. That's a great series.
How about the Red Sox coming back yesterday putting up
two touchdowns on Tampa. They chasing the kid bas oh,
that young buck with all that stuff, throwing heat, throwing
(06:31):
missiles with a wild first inning because Boston puts up
two right, and then Tampa comes back with a five
spot in the bottom of the first on the Delupe
Low home Grand Slam, which was incredible. All right, it's
(06:55):
five to Tampa, but bang bang, couple home runs lay there, five, four,
and then Boston scores four and a five and then
they run away and hide fourteen the six over Tampa.
That series is one one, and I thought, you know,
I thought that Tampa would win in a runaway. But
(07:17):
now Boston comes back two touchdowns, but they got Brady
and there and there they even that series. Series then
shifts to Boston coming up on Sunday. Then how about
this one last night Logan Web And I didn't see
it coming, Logan Web. Tremendous shots out the Dodgers, giving
(07:43):
you seven and two thirds innings, five hits, no walks,
ten strikeouts for logan Web. Tremendous effort by logan Web.
Last night. They shut down the Dodgers, they win. Giants
went for nothing. They get a buster Posey to run
homer in the first and then they ride it and
(08:07):
so they take a one oh lead in that series.
So Milwaukee and San Francisco, to home teams in the
National League, both up a game. Boston Tampa won one
strows looking to make early exit out of Chicago. That's
baseball first. It was like, what a day, great playoff ball.
(08:27):
So it leads me into my questions forward to that
number one. I've been swept up in the baseball, but
I always get swept up in October baseball. It does
feel that baseball is back. It feels it, you know, again,
I don't know, you know, if it's just I'm watching,
(08:48):
you know, you see. Of course, if your hometown team
is in it, you're gonna be fired up. But it
does feel like it's going to come back. True. I think,
you know, listen to MLP is still a broken entity
and it still has to get out of its own way,
but it does feel like the sport this whole concept
(09:10):
of baseball's too slow for young generation. I don't believe it.
I had a story other than that. I was so excited.
I was watching the wild card game. It was Cardinals Dodgers,
and my little Masmo, who's eight years old. It's like
nine o'clock. I'm on to couch. He sidles up, Daddy
(09:32):
can watch the ball game with you? Yeah, he could,
climbs on me, gets a blanket and so he's laying
on me and he and he goes, Daddy, Um, it's
are just a Turner and Trade Turner? Are they brothers?
And I was like, wow, then you actually know who
just the turn and Trade tennor are And like he's
(09:53):
got the bug and he loves baseball. So I keep
thinking about is maybe it's not the oldest talk about
the sport is is woe be gone? Maybe that's not accurate.
So I kind of want to tackle that with you.
We got lots of football to get to. And I
(10:13):
had a conversation on my local show that I want
to bring to you guys, because I was talking about
this state of football, state of the NFL, and I
was talking about how I still love it, Like you know,
I don't miss anything from the bad. Like I look
at these at the sports playing out today, and although
(10:36):
I'll push you in fifty, I don't go, oh my god,
oh my god, oh my god. It was so much
better in because I don't really believe that. You know,
there's some aspects like you know, we can the flag
frenzies a little much, but every oh that's said, I
(10:59):
just don't. I look at it and I enjoy it.
It was more hits and defense, and they, you know,
they need to weeded some of that out, certainly because
you concussions at second of all, to play Kate the
fantasy and the offense. But I want to talk to
you guys more of a global conversation on you know,
(11:20):
the state of sport and what you like when it
comes to this sport, because I'll tell you there's a
game on in the NFL and I'm watching. I'm watching
Collins too, but there's a game on obviously the NFL.
I'm watching and I'm enjoying it. So I want to
(11:40):
get to your enjoyment level. We're the state of the game.
That's also part of conversation. We're doing a lot on
the phones today. FIGG. He's not with us, but we
got Psycho Chris, right, we got Nikki, and we got
the rest of the crew coming up later on in
the program, the Geek will join It's to go over
fantasy and then the big Brain to go over the
(12:01):
selections for the day. Where the fellas were just getting
started on a Fox Football Saturday. All right, welcome back, fellas.
I don't believe already quarter pole in the NFL. So
a lot of coaches what they do is they look
(12:24):
at the quarter pole and it was always a big deal.
Now I know it's with the seventeenth game. It's a
little off of the map, but those four games means something,
and it's like you you always you know, because you
need a little like data like so they use four
game increments to kind of self scout. So I want
(12:46):
to do some of that today as well, with each
of these going through the divisions and kind of taking
a look at where each of these teams are at
quarter pole, kind of re stayed on them because you
get really a good kind of feel. Listen to the
first couple of weeks, the first two weeks or extended
basically training camp, and then you'll dive deeper and you know,
(13:10):
you start, the team start to take form a little bit.
That's the shame of the Seahawks, right, because when you
lose Russ like that, I mean, you can't afford to
not to keep up in that division. You're now two
and three and you're gonna have Geno Smith over the
next you know, four to eight weeks. You've made a
(13:30):
couple of nice plays in the game. But let's face it,
you know you're gonna miss Russ and I be oh, well,
Russ is what becomes one to mention all when this happens.
Blah blah blah. Come on, Russe's a winner. Stop, Russ
is a winner. And they're gonna, they're gonna. They're done
without Russell Wilson. They're done. So you know you're two
(13:51):
and three, you're gonna there's I noticed seventeen games, but
you're now down to a wild card piece and that's
a lot of comation. So it's Seattle is cooked, Shane
that early. It sucks when you're when you're done, when
you get that death blow early. Good morning, Psycho, Chris
(14:14):
morning that same much the same time, All right, what's
cool at on man? Why you're all the subdued subdued.
I'm always subdued. I know. Take it easy, alright, I'm
enjoying the baseball. You are joining the base I always
enjoyed the baseball, okay, right, kid, Yeah, I would enjoy
(14:39):
it more if it wasn't on during the middle of
the day. Sometimes I'm not sure why baseball is decided
that they need to be doing first pitches at like
three pm Eastern, but you know two pm. Okay, I
can't do the conversions in my head from West Coast come,
how come you? I love day baseball. I think it's
(15:00):
all right, But I've seen some people complain, and I
just wonder, especially in the middle of the week when
you're not competing against football, there's nothing hurting you putting
it on at night. So it was on at night.
They just staggered the games. Yeah that's true. I mean,
you know, if it's just two games, it will be on.
You know, you'll have one four Eastern the other one
(15:22):
eight mm hmm. I don't understand when your beef is.
I don't know this is this is I'm still even
after four years, I'm still going to use some time
to West Coast time. Like someone's pointing out to me
the other day about like, when I get done with
Thursday night football, it's kind of funny that I just
don't go to bed. It's it's like, yeah, I've got
the rest of my night here. Yeah, no, it's yeah,
(15:45):
it is. It is. Still it's a big difference, it
really is. There's three hours between East Coast and West
Coast is a big difference. By the way, what about
what about your boy Gino there? What about him? It's
the NFCST is something to me. I I think the
Cardinals are the best team in that division right now.
(16:06):
That could change very quickly, but I don't think that.
On one hand, I I thought the Seahawks were kind
of the last team in my rankings and that for
that division. But on the other hand, Gino didn't look
that bad and a couple of drives there, so yeah,
at the end, well you can't, he can't keep up.
(16:28):
You're gonna miss Russ. Come on, you, you are gonna
miss Russ. But I don't think it's for what the
Seahawks is right now. It's going to be I don't know.
I think there's gonna be in that division. It's a
tough blow in that division. I think their schedule coming
up does them some favors though, Yeah, but again you
(16:48):
you're you're playing you're playing major catch up. I mean
that's the that's the issue. Now you got your right,
you're gonna have Steelers right next on a night. I
have not looked good at all, you know, No, they haven't,
and they have and I actually think they they bounced
back this week. But we'll talk about Saints have been
up and down. Then they play the Jaguars, then they
(17:10):
play the Packers. Yeah, in Green Bay. You feel good
about that Geno Smith against Aaron Rodgers. Well, they don't
actually fight each other there, so I feel good against them.
About what we've seen from the Packers defense. Packers defense
has kind of been whatever do you think to see
that Seahawks with Geno Smith are gonna beat Aaron Rodgers
(17:30):
in Green Bay? I think that we're already get all
my nerves. I think that they're going to be exactly
where I expected them to be in the NFC West.
I think even with if Russ had been in that game,
I think the Seahawks lose that game there two and three.
They're exactly what we right. But by going forward, you
got Russell Wilson. Right, So what we're saying like six weeks,
(17:52):
I believe for Russ to come back eight Yeah, yeah,
which day, which I'm not saying. I'm not saying those games.
I still I think you'll keep them competitive. Yeah. I
don't think Gino Smith is any good. I mean, I mean,
you want to be real with you, I don't. I
think he stinks. I mean, I'll be honestly, he looked
(18:13):
okay on a couple of the drives. He made a
couple of rods. Guys made d K went up and
made a couple of good plays. I mean, you know,
the drop off is monstrous. It's a monster drop off.
I don't understand your point. I don't know. I I
just like seeing him play out there. I thought he
looked better than he ever did ever with the Jets,
(18:35):
and I want to friendly guy who kind of sticks
around the NFL. That my story. I got no beef
with Gino. You know again, it's a nice story, and
it would be nice to see him. You know, I
don't know risuscitate, but you know a lot of guys
have two drives and you yeah, it kind of makes
a play you're playing, you know, Sam Donald Jone to
(18:57):
a whole career. Well, I mean maybe it's in fact,
he's actually gotten really good coaching. There you are again
with Carolina Panthers and your boy. He's got looking pretty
good down there. We'll have to see him. I don't
know what you want. The guy's a good coach, he's
got a good staff, he's got Joe Brady's a good,
really good offensive coordinator. Well, we'll see as that ending.
(19:18):
He's already all my nerves. It's six thirty. The dude kids,
I got no figure today, all right, I gotta deal
with beat fin. Oh my god, I'm not even trying
to get on your nerves. That's that's the thing I
love about doing this show, is like, I'm not even
trying to get on your nerves. You know, your existence
is on my nerves. You are, you be? You know
(19:40):
what it is. It's you come with your takes. I
don't understand them. And then you speak a matter of facts. Yeah, yeah,
what I mean it's radio homes You gotta elaborate. Yeah,
it doesn't work. No, But like, what do you want
me to say on matter of facts? Like? I don't
(20:02):
All right, I guess we're now talking about how I speak.
I guess no, I'm just breaking I know we're breaking
my balls. But all right, Nick, help me please. It's
like like I'm going to the phones in like five minutes,
so I need your help here because I can't do
this all day. I'm telling you, Geno Smiths gonna win
(20:23):
at least one game for the Seahawks, maybe maybe two.
But okay, But here's the thing, is, Geno Smith, It's
not like you're putting Ryan Fitzpatrick out there for seven
games to get you a couple of wins. But to go,
what are we say it? That's my point to you.
They're in a tough division, but they play the toughest
(20:44):
part of that division for a while. That's they're not
playing their divisional games, right, But you still gotta win games.
And ain't dain't beating Rodgers all right now, it ain't happening.
I don't care. It doesn't matter. Gino Smith's not good
enough to go in a game and that scores with
(21:06):
Aaron Rodgers, Like, yeah, dude, they don't play each other
right down the field at the same time, but they are.
You have to keep up with the other quarterback. But
I've seen but at the same time. I saw Jared
Goff keeping up with the Packers defense for a while too.
I think I just don't think that until until the
game that real in the first half. What we've seen
(21:31):
now Jared Goff is like, and we've seen this with
the Packers a lot. They're giving up a lot in
that second half. So I think that I don't know,
I don't even know why how somehow we're predicting Seahawks
Packers a few like they're playing in November. Whatever. It's
just the point we were just talking about this. You
brought up the schedule. Your your basic premise was that, well,
(21:55):
you know what Gino. I thought Gino looked good. That
was my only basic premise, and you, well, but they
knew extraplate by saying I vot Gina look good and
Seattle can, basically you're just saying Seattle can stay in
the race. I don't think they can. I think without
Russell Wilson it's a death blow. Russ can somehow help
(22:17):
them navigate and keep them afloat. I guess my point
is that I didn't see them in the race to
begin with, and I think that says something about Russ too,
like he did struggle out there several times in that game,
and it's it's a it's a defense that like for
for the Rams, And I was talking with her old
friend Bo Rackey, Morris has a lot to fix up
(22:37):
on there. And I I still though, look at look
at the division and no matter which way, even when
Russell was healthy, I still power ranked. The Seahawks is
lasting that division and they're gonna lose those NFC West matchups.
So jumping down to it, I think it's more of
a question now on Russ's health for the future. He
was already this was a guy who last offseason was
(22:58):
already talking but it's a finger. Yeah, but I'm but
we we just spent this offseason though, because like talking about, hey,
Russ has given out four teams that he wants to
maybe be traded to. So now you've got another lost
year in Seattle for that if they can't keep up
(23:21):
with that division, which I don't think they will. So
what Russ is just gonna come right back? Well, I
would assume that he comes back when he's ready to
come back. Since it's a finger, it's an up looking finger. Two.
I hated that they kept showing on the broadcast. It's
(23:42):
a finger homes. Yeah, I don't think it's career threatening. No,
I'm not saying career threatning. I'm just saying like this
is already someone who was kind of given the shifty
eye out to get out of Seattle. Yeah, well that's true.
I mean, there there was some talk and we know
that in fact, Colin was at the at the middle,
in the middle of it, right because Russ told it,
(24:05):
told it to Colin right here on Fox Sports Radio.
So I mean, I hear you actually with Dan Patrick
right yea, it was Dan Patrick. Yeah, he was talking
to Dan and and right here. So you know, I mean,
I I'm just trying to figure out your basic premise.
My only point to you is that without Ross Derk Cook, now,
might they have been cooked before? Maybe? Because I agree
(24:29):
Rams Cardinals are the top two teams, then it's probably
San Francisco, But who knows. You've got Tray Lance now
who's going to start now. He looked good, So I
think you know you're hopeful about San fran and he's
going to come right in and have to play Arizona,
which is an incredible test, especially with Chandler Jones on
(24:52):
the other side too. I don't think Trey Lance is
gonna really throw that much in this game because they're
also getting Elijah Mitchell back this week, who I like,
Sermon not gonna be real with I like, I think
Sermon a lot. I think both have stepped up where
injury has warranted. I just know that, um and this
is something for the geek and like about a couple
(25:12):
hours here, but I I'm sure fantasy fantasy managers are
all eyeballing Elijah Mitchell and where he is on waiver wires,
but both of them should be. Those are two great
options for Trey Lance. And look, he's made some decent
throws in the red zone. I think that's going to
be an interest. That's going to be a really interesting matchup.
I just it's funny because I don't think a lot
(25:34):
of people are giving Arizona the credit. Before the season started,
we were so locked in on Rams and forty niners,
and this is a team that's really just I I
love what Chandler Jones has done. I love what their
defense has done, and I love what's done now. They
they're they're terrific. I listen to Cardinals are a great story.
(25:56):
There were a terrific team. Where they did against the Rams.
They dominate the Rams, they really, I mean they dominated,
they shut them down. They got to Stafford. I mean, listen,
that's a that's a terrific team. They're a great story now,
you know. And they look like they got staying power.
So we'll we'll talk about it. Sit tight. We're going
to go through and we're actually already started. I want
(26:19):
to get to the baseball thing. But since we're already
started with the quarter poll, and it's a good conversation
to figure out where these teams are. But first let's
find out what's trending. Let's go to Brian be fan.
What's happening baby, and what is going on? I thought
you're I thought your Temple Owls had a chance last
night until about a minute in you till you're gonna
(26:41):
start started, But you forgot my name. You were shouting
out the crew and you're like, oh that other guy.
I'm like, come on, and you know me. I love
you man, deep down. But yeah, let's start to meet. Well,
I guess I can do what I can do. I
can control and control the control bles. Yeah, Divisional Series,
(27:02):
Major League Baseball, The Giants staple the Dodgers four to nothing.
In Game one, Logan Webb, twenty four years old, his
debut ten strikeouts, five fits San Fran blasting three home runs,
and that game too, is later today at nine oh
seven Eastern. The Red Sox leap frog the Rays fourteen
to six, Boston twenty hits as they even that series
(27:26):
at one, Rowdy tell as socks and two run blast
as the Brewers sidestep the Braves two to one. Milwaukee
grabs the first game of that matchup, and game two
is also later today, and it will be at five
oh seven Eastern, probably Chris p will be sleeping at
that time. The Astros finish off the White Sox nine four. Yeah,
(27:51):
then the nocturnal Crisp. The Astros finished off the White Sox.
The That is actually a great nickname for Chris. Yeah,
he's Psycho christ. I was gonna say the yale Ian
because sometimes like and I think Andy Ferman called him out,
like he uses these big terms and these big words,
and he has these great intellectual phrases. But sometimes it's
(28:15):
like I didn't go to Yale. Don't put that on.
I mean, I was just you know, but that's something
it sounds like it, but yeah, the the Astros finished
off the White Sox nine to four Houston with five
runs in the seventh and they're doing this without cheating.
(28:38):
In college football, Number twenty two, Arizona takes a fly
swatter out to Stanford to ten as the Sun Devils
of Room out to five and went on the season.
Jack Jones had to pick the a s U. Sun
Devils defense had three picks in the ball. Again, they
also had three touchdowns on their ground. Game Number five,
(29:01):
Cincinnati running up the score and schooling Aunt's Temple Ows
fifty two to three. That game was close. I just,
you know, had to make sure that in case you
gut the score. I just wanted to appreciate. And by
the way, Aunt, the Bears twenty eight points in one quarter.
That was the third quarter, and maybe they still had
(29:24):
to chance those hours in the fourth unless they didn't.
And finally, as I sent it back to you, Aunt,
Seahawks Russell Wilson, as you mentioned, going to be out
four to eight weeks with that injury to his middle
finger to his throwing hand. So the Pride of West
Virginia the Great should be in the New York Jets
Hall of Fame Geno Smith manning the QB reins in
(29:45):
the interim as they sent it back to our quarterback
of the show, Anthony Garkiando, Let let me tell you, Bran,
the key word that you said there was middle finger.
All right, yes, and just let it hang their middle finger,
just let it hang. Okay, that's trendy. There you right,
(30:09):
you'll be then we appreciate it. Daddy, how much? When's
I look coming in? I mean, is I look coming in?
The disrespect from you on a regular got three hours
of this, I mean guarded your homes. You started your
update talking about capell like I guess Ritter think it's
(30:33):
going to happen in Cincinnati. Oh you you started the
opening up the show when you're like, we got Chris Pe,
we got Nikki Be, we got the other usually with us,
so Chris is always with us. Nick is always with us.
It was not meant to be as slight. So you
want to fire a shot to start to show when
(30:55):
you're trending, you're you know big, You and I are
always going at it right, Like it's the point where
when you're in I want to fly to l A.
You know, well, you know what you do for a vacation.
So yeah, I lunch, got a buddy to you. Thanks.
(31:16):
Oh my god, I think I need you today. Dude,
I'm here, understand, you know, going back to the Geno
Smith real quick, I'm looking at the statistics. Aunt, he
did not need to go back to Geno Smith. Go ahead. Well,
I'm just saying he's not good. I don't think he's
going to really be successful because in the years he's
been starting, he's never had a year where he's thrown
(31:39):
more touchdowns and interceptions. So like except like one where
you like one touchdown that day. You don't need to
look at stats to define Geno. It's a shame. I mean,
just you know he's here all those years. He did
that when he was with the Jets. Now he's not.
He's free. No, he was with the Giants and a
couple okay, the Giants, cool whatever, the Giants man, Okay, Okay. Now,
(32:05):
the point is that you don't need to look at
at the stats to define Geno as a quarterback in
the NFL. You know what I'm saying? All right, it
work cool, all right, do me a favor. I needed
time out, all right? Like the first segment. This segment
was a lot all right, so I can between my
(32:28):
man Psycho over there and then and then Brian, I
just needed I needed time out, like I feel like,
I'm um, it's game seven and I'm I'm losing, like
I just gotta it's like a six team to two
run against my team and I just gotta go time please,
I gotta reset this thing, man before it gets away.
(32:49):
I look up him, I'm lose the game. You know
what I'm saying. Where the Fellas, Ah, I I do
be fare before we get to the NFL stuff, because
I think that's gonna be a tough conversation. I do
need to ask you about baseball. You mentioned Chris about
(33:10):
baseball and that you've been enjoying it, and I want
to look at it then, hopeful ful because I want
to come back and then we gotta take quick too,
and I want to find out about baseball. And you know,
if that whole and they look the generation for it
(33:32):
is beyond as outgrown baseball. If that's a fallacy, let's
discuss it where the Fellas right here on Fox Sports Radio. Fellas,
don't forget. We're brought to you by Discover discover match

Limitations apply because you do play good music, though I do.
I try to at least bring that. If nothing else,
consider it. Consider it the the olive branch if we can.
(34:19):
You know it is Robbers Johnson. Yes, sir, it's beautiful,
all right, So let me hear to this baseball thing,
because I'm ruture. We're the thrones of the playoffs. And
you know, I'm glad you said you used to listen.
I'm always in on the baseball. I appreciate and you
(34:41):
like it. And I don't know, I just find it
so riven ing. When October baseball and I started to
think about all this talk we always have about the sport.
Now it's antiquated and because it's timeless, and you know,
kids are our programmed, you know, it's too slow for them.
(35:02):
And then I look at my eight year old who
at night he just laid down on the couchs and
he watched you know, basically from the third inning on
we watched the Dodgers Cardinals game that was the walk
off night for Taylor, and it was just such a
great ball game. And we were talking about the game,
my little eight year old and I and kind of
(35:23):
dissecting it, and it was just it was so pleasurable,
even no idea how how that made me feel, and
it gave me hope for the future to gain. So
I'll ask you, Chris, is it overblown? This whole the
generation doesn't like ball? So I think there's a couple
(35:44):
of points there. One is that I think at this
point we've gotten through those conversations and if you're here
for baseball, you're here for baseball. If you're on the
fence about baseball, there's there's no help in you there.
It's either you've got to like baseball or you don't.
And I think at least those conversations have blown over.
The other thing I think that's to this point is
(36:04):
that a lot of those conversations we have about baseball,
about it being antiquated, about being too long, I don't
think those applied to the postseason. I think when no
other sport changes itself so dramatically from its regular season,
to its postseason as baseball does, where you go from
just all the time, which is cool if you're into that,
(36:28):
and like, you know, if your team is good and
you want to follow your team every day, but if
your team is not great, maybe you're checked out. But
when the postseason rolls around, it's different. Suddenly every pitch matters,
every hit matter. Suddenly you are losing your breath waiting
for a guy to take a pitch. And I know
we disagree on the wild card and about the single elimination,
(36:51):
but people are tuning. We're tuning in. As you said,
you were watching Dodgers and Cardinals and Red Sox and
Yankees for the wild card. Those are too for for
win or go home implications. How can you miss out
on those as as just as a general's fan of sport,
like the drama is all there and now it's set
(37:12):
up for these divisional series. I just think that funny.
I was thinking of you, right, you know what's funny,
And I would agree with that. I think it's a
good summation. But I was actually thinking of you when
I was watching Dodges Carners. I'm going I mean, geez,
you don't want five games series of this, I think
it would be quat. It was a great, it was
a great, It was a great that you could do.
(37:34):
You could do, uh you know, three games series, five
games here. I don't care what you do, but all
my only point is is I would really like to
see like that series play out a little bit. I mean,
I mean, I just think there's gotta be something more.
The beauty of a series, right, is that all kinds
(37:56):
of storylines. Now, and this surprises me about you, and
I think you would be for the one game playoff
because you like plot lines, right, storylines and when you
have a series and you play a series, that's why
the beauty of the seven game series is you know,
you you plan your your opponent and you begin to
(38:17):
detest your opponent because you know you're thrust together to
compete against one another for seven games. And if you
get if you get lucky and then the series go seven,
well you know you're you've kind of run through the
gamut man of emotions. And usually there's plot lines, you know, enemies,
(38:37):
and you know who arises throughout the series, which makes
it fun. I don't know, I thought in an era
when we and it's a great era of story. I
think one of the things that I really appreciate from
that the young generation whatever that is, Z whatever it is,
(39:00):
is that it loves story, it loves plot, It was
raised on plot, and it's got good taste. Here here's
what I'll say about these wild cards. I think we
had a lot of plot going into these wild Cards.
Here's the Dodgers, who have won over a hundred games
suddenly having to fight off a very hot team in
the Cardinals. That and you know what, is it fair
to make them play a single elimination there? So there's
(39:22):
that plot line. Meanwhile, the Red Sox and Yankees, the
survivors of this weird four way potential tie we could
have had in the in the American League, I think
they were already pretty charged coming into this year. You're
not gonna have every wild card that charged with plot,
but I think for this year in particular, both wild
card games had quite a bit going into them. So
(39:44):
I think that helped too. Yeah, I agree that, I definitely, uh,
I definitely agree with that. But all right, let's take
a look at the game itself. And you know, Nick,
I'll ask you, Oh, okay, so you're a little older baseball, man,
what do you think about baseball? I I like the
(40:06):
one game wild card. However, my only issue with it
is I really wish that they would kind of do
away with the whole division winners, saying go just go
by record. They're making things a lot more clear out
more easy when I have these dogs. It's a little convoluton,
but I'm digging it. I mean, of course my Yankees
are gone, but hey, I'm sorry, we're gonna want to
dive into I want to bring the people into this
(40:27):
thing too. About the state of baseball. We'll get to
football come up as well. Fellas on Fox. Fox Sports

(41:30):
games today, Man, Pet State, I was going to be
a great one. That's click classic, big ten, rock 'em
sock him my man, I was Sam. I wonder what
he's thinking. I need I need to pick from. I
was Sam used to be on the program, Chris, Remember
I was Sam. Yeah, I see him every morning. He
(41:52):
takes over from me when I come in. Really tell him.
You gotta text him at some point, tell him I
needed I'll pick on the game. I'll let him know
because he's a he's one of these. You know. He
knows his Iowa Hawckeyes. You grew up in the shadows
of Iowa City on a great Iowa farm, So he's
(42:15):
a Hawkeye. Man. I'll pay attention to this game. I
just everything I've seen out of Penn State looks phenomenal.
I have no reason to doubt them in this game
at all. Oh, it's a great game. Was a great game.
I just think is the Penn stage. You like, you
like the kNs, I like the Ninny Lions. They look
even on the road, they have just looked like a
(42:38):
juggernaut against whoever they've played. Yeah, they've played well, man,
I listen, I agree with you. They have played really good.
For Cliffords played a lot better than I thought because
I wasn't a big Clifford fan. And he's played really well.
And you know, it's funny because Franklin is a is
a great recruiter, great recruiter, but he's a quizzical game
(43:02):
day coach and he has he hasn't really made any
mistakes so far. Now, today's a Today's a pivotal game
for them because you know, I was a good team, man.
Iowa is is a physical team and it had a
(43:22):
good defense. And this is what's going to be a
real interesting you know, this is a great test. I'll
tell you, I'm looking forward to it. We could potentially
see these teams back. I believe in the Big Ten
championship at some point because this is across the divisional game.
If I'm not mistaken. Yeah, so, I mean they could
(43:44):
lose and they could just run the table with the
rest of their divisions and be right back again here
in India. If I'm if I'm not mistaken, well let's
think about it. Right. So there here's Penn State to
rest the schedules today. If they can win it Iowa,
then they're they have a bye next week, and then
they have Illinois that's to win, and then Halloween weekend
(44:08):
at Ohio State. So that's a great, great tilt. You
got Maryland and then you got Michigan. But that's in
Happy Valley, Rutgers at uh Sparty and East Lansing. That's
a tough one too. So Peck State, listen, that Big
(44:29):
Ten is is now Iowa. Let's look at Iowa because
if Iowa, because I was a grounded our team, I
like Iowa. I think that's a good. I think it's
a good you know, they don't make a lot of mistakes. Yeah,
they've gotta so they've got to play perdue at Wisconsin,
at Northwestern Minnesota, Illinois at Nebraska. I think Iowa, regardless
(44:51):
of what happens in this game, is going to the
Big Ten championship. I don't think anyone is catching them
in the West. Now, if Penn State stumbles, while you're
right but there's actual dude, you're dead right about that. Yeah,
I agree. I think I was already in probably. I mean,
who knows this is This is college football on the
road at Wisconsin with an old rival there. Anything could
(45:12):
happen there. But Iowa has so far looked like a
different class from the rest of the Big Ten West,
whereas Penn State, as you said, like, even if they
win here, they've got to go through a meat grinder.
I still don't know. I still don't know how I
feel about Michigan. This is a very big prove it
year for for Jim Harbaugh, after a lot of proof.
(45:33):
That was a big week against Wisconsin and the way
they and the way they won the game, you know,
because they had they they had to rest right, so
you know, you were you were. You control the whole
first half. Not many times have you seen a game
like this. You control the whole first half, and then
right before halftime, Wisconsin, which couldn't move the ball at all,
(45:56):
somehow it goes, you know, eighty yards and three thirty
three seconds scores a touchdown. Now usually the momentum that
is all over Wisconsin. They come out dominated the second half,
were going to win the game, but that didn't happen.
Michigan got you know, took over and they had they
(46:17):
had the ball to start the second half, they drove
down the field. I mean, they took the momentum back
in the game. That's that's the mark of a good
team all the road to reclaim momentum. That way, all
you need to stop momentum is a good enough defense
to just get a couple of stops and suddenly that
team is not feeling themselves in anymore. And then you
(46:39):
look at Ohio State, like, I know, they took the
loss to Oregon and they've got some questions with Stroud,
but so far they've been I mean, they haven't really
played any real tests outside of Oregons will be curious
to see what happens. Penn State probably is going to
be the first real test that Ohio State is going
to have when they finally meet them at the end
(47:01):
of October. I mean, you're right, I mean, dude, like,
look at look at Michigan, right, So the big test
to I You're at Nebraska, right, So that's a that's
a big game. You know, that's another test because you'll
have navigated back to back road tough places to play
Camp Randall and Lincoln and Lincoln you know, prime time
(47:24):
man eight b C's there to big game. Then they
got in the Northwestern Then of course you're at Michigan State.
So that is that is what you want to watch
that weekend? Is that Michigan State Michigan. Yeah, these are
two teams that when both of them are are doing well,
one finds a way to sabotage the other. Yes, that's
(47:48):
a great way to put it around. All the time,
it was just man, oh yeah, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State.
I'm just in the middle trying to watch Ledo Mac
football sometimes. Yeah, it's amazing. Man, you're in the middle
of all that great college footballing Green too. Yeah. How
(48:09):
many univers like is that just? I mean that part
of the world, man, is is is great football country
and you look at how many coaches will come out
of that country to like I mean Nick Saban coach
to Toledo Urban Meyer, I believe had ties to bowling cream.
I'm pretty sure both the hardballs, Like I'm pretty sure
(48:29):
one of the two hardballs I think was born in Toledo,
like West Ohio, Southeast Michigan you have all these guys
kind of coming out of there. It's a lot of
it's a lot of pedigree. Yeah, have you been to
that urban Meyer bar? And I have not. I saw
who is it? So? I saw some A couple of
my Michigan blogger buddies actually did a comprehensive review of
(48:52):
the urban Meyer. What it was the tap House to
the chop House. Yeah, yeah, Yeah, they went to the place. Yeah,
and they were just reviewing was on the menu, which
Urban Meyer was not there for the menu unfortunately. Yeah,
it's ordering off to you, dude. I just don't even
(49:13):
understand what you do. Man, How do you how do
you not fly back with your team? That's the big point, right,
like you forget about whatever he does. Yeah, infidelities one thing.
You're not in college anymore. Nobody's gonna kill you for that.
But I imagine if that had been Trevor Lawrence who decides, Hey,
(49:34):
instead of flying back with my team, I'm gonna stay here,
I'm gonna stay in Ohio and find a bar to crash,
We'd be ripping him apart. The sport would not Nobody
would excuse it from Trevor Lawrence. And Urban Meyer is
rightly being pillar raid because you don't do that, You
don't make those kind of decisions. And more than anything,
(49:54):
your team's oh and four leadership. Well that's and you
hear the thing. They're not that bad. Look, they played
the Cincinnati that first. They're not a bad team. He's
a bad Listen, he's not. He doesn't belong in the NFL.
He doesn't know the league, right, he doesn't. He. I
(50:15):
saw the same thing with Chip Kelly, these college dudes,
especially the smug ones. Right. So here's the thing, you like,
I look at Matt, right, Matt rule, and not not
because he's a friend of mine, but Matt was a
guy that I understood the NFL. He worked for the
(50:35):
Giants that before he went there, and he took a
break from Temple and went to work for the Giants.
And you know, he's a guy that didn't work as
he wasn't a he wasn't in charge of a fife
them right. The fife them guys are our trouble in
the league. They just because they think they know everything.
(50:57):
So Urban Myers a fife them guy. Chip was a
fife theme guy in Oregon. You know, if you look
at the difference Matt was in Balor, right, it's not
really a fife them that he's Saban obviously fife them
by Petrino in Atlanta. Yes, you know, and I think
(51:18):
I think Saban would have been different if he had
gotten Drew Brees. But I still remember. I mean, it's
not for lack of trying for Urban Meyer there, he
got Joe Colin, He's got Darryl Bevil for his offensive coordinator.
But I just know I'm talking about how come James
Robinson took him three weeks to get him the ball? Yeah,
it's Do you remember when Steve Spurrier was with Washington.
(51:44):
I love Steve Spurrier and I think he's a fantastic coach,
but you could tell very quickly he was in over
his head. And to your point, some guys, I think
when you're looking, because you you always talk. We talked
about does the college guy work in the NFL? And
I think the key there is if you're a Matt
Rule or a Matt Campbell and you've taken some bumps
(52:05):
and you've taken scratches in college, then yeah, sure you're
probably ready for whatever's coming to you in the NFL.
If you're Urban Meyer. Where wherever you've gone, you've just won.
You've won, You've brought success and the press says you
bring success wherever you go. And they're saying, oh, you
bring success wherever you go. You can do that in
the NFL. No, you're even the best teams are going
to take lumps and urban Meyer has not taken those lumps. Well. Uh,
(52:29):
and they were up seven nothing on Cincinnati last week.
You saw Urban on the sideline with his hands on
his hips, looking down. It's like, what why are you
acting like this in front of your team? Why are
you just and as you say, it's it's been close.
This could just be growing pains for the Jaguars. But
(52:49):
with the situation where it is now, like, did you
hear on how he did those apologies? He canceled the
team meeting and then try to divide and conquer apologizing
to position groups individually. We just made it worse. Guys
just tuned out from that. It's like he's losing the
locker room. I mean, because the players are expecting a
(53:10):
certain way man the NFL. Like, you know, it's funny
because Kingsbury is another one who's very who took some
knocks right he goes from Texas Tech. He's a guy
that has been around, right, Like if you look at
Cliff you know, I mean, my god, he he was
with how many teams, Patriots, Saints because he right, he
(53:35):
was in Montrey, was in the CFL. Right, and then
if you look at him, you know, he works his
way through it. He's in Houston, he's in a and
m he you know, he becomes this you know, offensive
young guru. But he you know, he didn't have a
fife to them, right like he was. He's just a brain,
(53:55):
like a smart football guy, quarterback at quarterback, smart guy.
He didn't have a fife them. I think the fife
them guys, these little you know, these little emperors, they
never work in the NFL. Yeah, and especially like you
you saw that early on with Erbin Meyer right where
he says something like, oh I don't like free agency,
Well you better you better learn to like stupid like
(54:19):
and that's the point when you were when you were
in college, emperor, you make statements like that, you don't
know the league. I'm telling you, I sold chick Kelly.
He didn't know the league. He thought was Seawan McCoy
just retired. Was expendable and he could and that DeMarco Murray,
who was a stretch back, would work in his offense
(54:41):
out of shotgun. De Marco Murry was like, dude, I
can't run this offense. I don't. First of all, I
don't like running out of shotgun. I think the issue too,
is that you get with his college coaches. They have
what i'd called big Man campus syndrome where they they
come in they think that like they can talk to
guys a certain way, don't do it in a certain way.
But they don't have that like NFL pedigree. They don't
(55:02):
have the NFL respect where it's like, oh, you've been
in the league for a while. It's like, man, you've
been in college working with these teenagers and these young adults.
Well that's the point, that's right, That's why the Emperor is.
You know, I agree with that. I sit side Nikki
on this. We're gonna get back to it. Don't worry
about it. We gotta take quick TiO where the fellas
and then we're gonna go out the phone line shortly.
(55:23):
I do want to talk about the baseball thing, but
I love the concept of, you know, of the Emperor
and the emperor doesn't work in the NFL. Man, that's
the that's the big that's the that's the big land.
It might work in the outskirts, it don't work in
the NFL. Where the fellas right here on Fox Sports Radio.
(55:44):
All right, welcome back, fellas hanging out on a Fox
Football Saturday. It's interesting. We're nicky and I were talking
to Dorn the break about, you know, these emperors, and
he had a good point about Petrina. Yeah, yeah, And
(56:08):
that's the thing. So the thing with Petrino was that
his players did not like him. Um. I remember hearing
things and reading things about how he made guys like
tape their ankles. He you know, there's certain things he
did that rubbed guys the wrong way. And not to mention,
he leaves thirteen games into the season to take the
job at Arkansas, doesn't tell his players. Instead, what does
(56:31):
he do? He leaves a note in each of their
lockers saying, hey, I'm leaving. And that's how they basically
found out outside of seeing him do the pig Sue
chant As press conference, and you saw one Atlanta Falcons
player take the note and right coward over Petrino's name.
(56:52):
Guys did not like him. It was a toxic environment.
And then of course they bring in Mike Smith. Afterwards,
they draft Matt Ryan and Petrino. When he saw he
signed a five year, twenty four million dollar contract when
he went to Atlanta, and you know, I know he
probably thought, hey, I'm worked with Michael Vickers. So that
Vic went to prison. So of course he had to
work with guys like Byron Leftwich who they signed off
(57:12):
a free agent market, Joey Harrington, Chris Redmond, those guys.
But he just didn't stick it out. And that's like
the thing, like, that's the ultimate I think of all
the college coaches that have made the jump to the NFL,
he is by far the worst, simply because they're all
they're all bad. Listen, you're right, teen games in, Yeah,
let's see. That was an unbelievable that he would do that.
(57:32):
But again it goes points to the arrogance of the
little emperor, and that's what they all are. They're like,
first of all, you can't come to an NFL locker
room and treat those dudes like kids. They're like, dude,
are you kidding me? I got kids? Stop telling me
what to do the best the best coach, coaches and
(57:55):
teaches without dictating, right like in in the NFL, right
like you you of course you're there to coach and teach,
but and you you want to build the culture, but
you gotta do so through men with without you know,
making them feel like they're like, like, you know, dude,
(58:17):
stop treating me like I'm in college, because I in
college anymore. I mean, that's the first thing that comes
out of their mouths. Yet these guys never learned. They
every time they go and they had any kind of
success in college, you know, they and they walk into
a locker room and they think they're dealing with kids,
and it never works. Unlast year a Kingsbury or a
Rule who come from not the gigantic programs winning national championships.
(58:45):
They're just football wanks. And that's basically what Kingsbury and
met Rule are and they know how to they know
how to treat their players like men. I think, I
think for Urban Meyer, I don't know if he has
that problem. He just looks foolish right now, and like
you can't be a fool in the locker room too.
And yeah, again going back to me, this thing was
(59:05):
trending like you don't leave anyway before you know he's
following the co Eds. Yeah, well, I think it's just
he just seems I think those were trending before because
he has a habit of leaving places. When things start
to go south, he starts talking about his health issues,
you know, real, real or otherwise. The health issue suddenly
(59:26):
becomes an issue only when Florida is losing, only when
Ohio State is losing, or he's got some prospects somewhere else.
And that's only when these is his health becomes an issue.
And for the Jacksonville Jaguars, I'm sure it will become
an issue before long too, that the contract is going
to be a huge sticking point for them too. And
I know I saw some rumors that Shod Khan and
(59:47):
ownership are seeing if there's a way out, just given
how what's going on so far. But I didn't think
we'd end up here where the two coaches this early
into the NFL season that we're talking about being in
the most hot water are well. I mean besides Matt Nagy,
who I think has got himself a bit of reprieve,
but it's Urban Meyer and now this week John Gruden,
(01:00:12):
These the two guys who are under the most fire.
That wasn't expecting Grooden. But who thinks, you know, something
crops up from ten years ago which is offensive, right,
like completely offensive the pain like there's no excusing it
whatsoever exactly, So you know, nobody expected that. Actually, you know,
(01:00:38):
I don't want to say shame because he's the one
who offended people. But the Raiders were on a good
you know, other than the last week, you know, against
the charges. I mean the Raiders, you know, one of
the surprise teams. So you know that's that. But but
urban Meyer, forget about the incident or whatever it's he was.
(01:01:00):
He was trending that way anyway. He even didn't you
can see the league comes in already, it was four
games into it. You could tell he had the wandering
guys like he's like a guy who takes a job
and goes, oh my god, I just made the biggest
mistake of my life. And I think there was no
(01:01:20):
bigger example than when he had the famous quote of
every week it's like you're facing Alabama, like, no, dah, dude,
it's the NFL. These guys are the you know, the
less than one percent of the guys who in college
were great enough to make it to the pros. Of
course it's gonna be, you know, tough sledding every week.
Right as far as the water guy like, you're definitely
seeing that now that once again everyone's starting to say
(01:01:44):
whether or not he can go to USC, like I
think most people most people are already, which by the way,
I don't think USC wants them to be honest, like, no, well,
first off, I don't think they're Dean Carroll Folt is
going to stand for that kind of behavior. Anyway. It's
USC from I understands, trying to turn over a new leaf,
to get away from the days of Boosters running a
(01:02:04):
little wild and Lynn Swan and all the rest. I
don't think urban And at this point, when you know
a guy he just keeps flaking on a job like
urban Meyer has, where he just keeps jumping from place
to place. If you're gonna jump to the Jaguars to
USC after one year USC, you gotta ask yourself how
loyal is the is this guy going to be to
(01:02:24):
our program? Right like that that should be that should
be a question mark for anyone who wants urban Meyer
after that. If he is really trying to get out
after one year with the Jaguars, which might happen. I
gotta don't think he belongs in the league. Yeah, I mean,
I mean that's and it seemed like that from early
on that he didn't seem like he belonged in the league.
(01:02:48):
You know. I think he liked the idea of, oh,
look at this, I'll get Lawrence and you know, and
it kind of felt, you know, made sense to him.
But I think the minute he got that, he was like,
you know what, this was a mistake. There are ways
to stabilize to like, I mean, if he if he
(01:03:09):
actually implements his offensive system as he wants be it
spread option like he would was doing for years with
Ohio State in Florida, and if he can get Trevor
Lawrence on the page, maybe we're singing a different song.
By the end of his career. At my with the Dolphins,
Nick Saban was doing better. It's just he never got
Drew Brees, so there is that precedent. But at the
(01:03:30):
same time, this just seems like a different league where
it's just he looks overwhelmed, he looks lost, and now
these incidents are coming out where he's just rapidly losing
the locker room. You're not gonna win with that combination. Yeah,
I mean, I just don't you understand how you know?
You just that's the difference. Right in college, you can
do whatever you want, right like you whatever you want.
(01:03:53):
He could do whatever he wanted, and there's protocol like
you don't not you're the head coach, dude. Sparrier was
the same way you were a Sparrier. Spurrier would lead.
You know, he would leave practice early and go play golf.
Did you know that? Yeah? No, I know. And Spurrier
loved his golf. But it's not even cute, like you're
(01:04:16):
an NFL coach, dude, yo, yo ball coach. I had
an argument. Right there was a buddy of mine who
was in the we're in the bid at the same time,
Andy Reid. Andy Reid's in Philadelphia and Spurrier is in Washington.
And the guy who was a buddy of mine in
the business was not an Andy reefan. I was. I
(01:04:38):
loved Andy and we used to argue all the time.
And he's like, I'll bet you that Sparrier is going
to be this and this and is and is and is,
and I'll go dude read we'll we'll crush Sparrier. That
was our We had a bet. And then they played
on a Sunday night. In fact, it was Sunday night
and there was pepper spray that went off. It was crazy,
(01:05:02):
you know, a weird thing that happened. It was in Washington,
the game anyway, and the cross and the Eagles crossed
Washington and Andy out Coachsparrir, you know, seven ways from Someday.
And it was clear like these college coaches, and it
was clear that the Andy Reid was a guy that
(01:05:22):
belonged to the NFL, in Sparry was a guy to
belong to college. And you see the difference. But one
more thing on that, just real quick, Like I think
the other difference is urban Myer. And maybe this is
your Chip Kelly point about de Marco Murray and Lashawn McCoy.
Like some of these college guys think they just have
in the NFL still like they're used to in college
(01:05:42):
having a limitless pool of talent. Whereas you go past
your starters, you start to see a drop off and
you've got to really improvise and really coach up. And
it's a it's a great point Chris really is tremendous.
All Right, We're gonna take a quick t o because
I need to five outwards trending from my man Brian,
(01:06:05):
and what is going on? You guys are talking about
coaches losing locker rooms. I think Giants manager Gabe Kapler
is winning over his locker room considering the way that
San Fran is playing. You watched and the Giants win
over the Dodgers four to nothing on Friday, and Game
one of that divisional round Logan Web the San fran
(01:06:26):
pitcher one a performance his debut in the postseason, the
twenty four year old ten strikeouts, completely silencing those l
A batters in San France bats exploded for three home runs.
That Game two is going to be taking place later
today at nine oh seven Easter, not nine o eight,
but nine oh seven. The Red Sox pulverize the Rays
(01:06:49):
fourteen to six Boston with twenty hits as the even
that series at one, Rowdy tells socks and two run
blast as the Brewers sides to up the Braves two
to one in Milwaukee grabs hold of that first game
of that matchup, and Game two in that series is
going to be tonight at five oh seven Eastern. The
(01:07:11):
Astros are out to a two and oh lead in
their matchup against the White Sox thanks to a nine
to four drilling of Chicago Houston with five runs that
they scored in the seventh frame. As far as college
football is concerned, Number twenty two Arizona clotheslining Stanford ten
(01:07:31):
as the Sun Devils improved to five and one on
the season, and they had three touchdowns on the ground.
They also had three interceptions. One of them was a
pickoff from Jack Jones, and so he gets the pick,
knows he's gonna get tackled, and what does he do.
He laterals the football to his teammate, who then books
(01:07:51):
it the other way for the unconventional pick six, if
you will. Number five Cincinnati put Temple out of its
misery fifty two to three as they step on the
Als and the Bearcats at twenty eight points in the
third quarter alone. And before I sent it back to
you and you guys were talking about this, and I
(01:08:13):
know the response I got in the last hour was
a middle figure back at me. But Seahawks and Russell
Wilson is going to miss four to eight weeks with
an injury to his middle finger for an injury that
happened during the Thursday night football game in a loss
for Seattle against the Rams, and so Geno Smith, the
man who's about to have a renaissance in his career,
(01:08:37):
unless maybe that's just a dream of mine, he will
be taking over for the time being until Russell Wilson
gets his act together and is ready to get back
onto the field and healthy as well. As I sent
it back to aunt who, I don't know what about
your your eagles? How are they looking over there? Wink wink. Oh, no,
(01:09:03):
I'm getting the silent treatment. I just want to see
you melt out there because you can't fill the time.
I can fill the time at some point, melt. I'm
not gonna melt me just then. No, I was not
going to melt. I don't want to take up too
much time because it's your show, alright. You can go
(01:09:25):
back into your little hole, appreciate it. Beat it is.
He he really needs his He needs he needs a
beaten Chris. Yeah, he needs to beat Chris. He probably does.
You want to verbal of course, virtual he gets that,
(01:09:52):
he goes he goes in find, he goes in find
places where he can get the verse, get the verbal
and virtual beatings. He I think there is no no
lack for that. For friendly, there's nothing worse than like
the worst things I hear are figures off and then
(01:10:13):
you hear my voice in the morning. No, I you
were with me every Saturday. I know I love Listen, dude,
I love you Mane, you know that. I know I
can't the trend there. I just need Ilo early call Ilo.
It I need like as os Ilo Ilo. I need
(01:10:37):
you so not to not to jump the ship on Ilo.
But something tells me he's going to be giving us
a very good jam Master flash this morning, just because
I heard the Jim Sterling call you did John Sterling?
Excuse me? Yeah? No, he he thought he thought there
(01:10:57):
was a home run when there wasn't. So alright, alright,
speaking to baseball, can I get to this for because
I need I need some kind of closure on this subject.
Is baseball really antiquated for a young generation? All right,
I'm gonna tell you now full disclosure for my little
eight year old I was town there earlier, who came
(01:11:19):
and and sidled up to me. And this is my
dream in life, Okay, to have kids who like sports.
That that's it, you know. And I'm not saying they
have to play sports and be great at I just
want you to enjoy it so we can have father
son's time and just enjoy it, all right. That's it
simple is that? And my little eight year old coming
(01:11:39):
up to me and watching Cardinals Dodgers and going can
I watch the game with you? Was like magic to
my ears. And we're sitting there and he's we're talking
about the game itself. Now full disclosure, he plays baseball
and he's pretty good. So he plays the game. So
I don't know if it's just he's a baseball player
(01:12:00):
and he likes the sport. But he enjoyed he enjoyed it.
He's like talking about not just why not just playing it,
but watching it and learning it. And he's eight, so yeah,
he's no different than any other kid I see on
his team. So it's baseball really antiquated? Is my question
to you. I'll ask both you guys. Chris, is it antiquated? No?
(01:12:24):
I think I think again, a lot of the slow
play was overblown. I think that. I I think that
we've got just more room for other sports, and it
has taken popularity hits. But it's clear baseball is gonna
stick around. It's it's not going anywhere, and there's plenty
of reasons for people to be excited about baseball, especially
(01:12:44):
with some of the young talent that's gone into this game.
Right now. I don't think it was ever it's I
think a lot of the on wei of baseball has
been about it losing its number one position to football,
and I think that's just that's something for a long time.
And yeah, basketball is kind of come come up as well.
But I mean again, I feel like baseball, especially this
(01:13:08):
time of year, is is a very competitive beast. People
like watching it, people like watching the So the ratings
from the the overnight ratings were up. Oh yeah, um,
they did really well over this past week, and the
ratings for this season was up. Nick. Now, you're a
football kid, but do you but baseball? I mean, does
(01:13:28):
it strike your fail? Like? Do you like playoff ball? Oh? Yeah,
I love playoff ball. I think the thing that Major
League Baseball has going for at least a tool that
I that I think they're starting to utilize more than
they really didn't passed with social media, and I think
that we're seeing it with like Jakie Robinson Day and
Opening Day and stuff like that. They're they're utilizing that
(01:13:50):
to pump up their own talent. As Chris mentioned, we're
getting a lot of nice influx of talent that our
name brands Vlad mcgreo Jr. Show, Hey Otani or and Judge.
You know, like these are got about Wan Soto And
let me tell you something. Wan Soto wearing Trade Turner's
jersey sit behind home plate and that's what the base
(01:14:13):
that's what basically, Oh my god, I loved it. I
love that one. Soto man. I love that dude. And
that's what baseball needs. Basically, guys like, hey, when you're
not playing, go to other games and route on like
your former teammates and sit down. Because when you watch
like basketball games stuff like that, who do you see?
You see other players, you see people you know the
people there, So baseball kind of needs Like seeing Max
(01:14:34):
Scherzer interact with like, you know, a former teammate is
awesome because it's like, hey, I know you're not on
this team, but you're sharing this moment with me, and
it's like that's a memory that like kids can see
and they're like, yeah, I remember like that brings you
back to like, hey with my dad. Hey, my dad's
on the team with me. But like I were hitting
a walk off run and he was behind the fence
(01:14:58):
and he's like, you know, we're smacking the fans going nuts,
you know, like it brings back those kind of childhood memories.
And really, I think it's a great point. It's a
great point. And I'll tell you I like the players.
I think listen, I don't like MLB, and I think
MLB I think some of the executives have full with
(01:15:19):
the game, Like some of the you know, some of
the suits come in and they make it over analytics
and then you know, I want to change everything because
they can't play, so they needed to put their stamp
on it through numbers and nonsense. But the players like
give me Max shows you're all day long. Did you
see Chris? Did you watch the game? Dodgers and Cardinals
(01:15:44):
watched So you know, when there's shirts are coming out again,
you don't want to come out of a game. But
you know, obviously Roberts get some company. He's trying to
like not give up the ball to which I loved, right,
Like I love Max says right because so anyway, he
finally he finally walks off and he doesn't go into
(01:16:06):
the clubhouse. He goes right to the railing and he's
watching Joe Kelly and he's rooting Joe Kelly. And when
Joe Kelly strikes out Carlson, he's he's fired up man,
like he's a winner. Like that's into the game. I'm
(01:16:27):
telling you, I love I love these players. That's that's
always what was kind of missing for I think then
it is just that you need stars. You need guys
who act bigger than life, who who want that camera
on them, who are going who people are going to remember?
The name baseball for about fifteen years, was trying to
sell you more of their logos. Well people, I mean,
(01:16:50):
it's great to say that old adage about play for
the name on the front, not the name on the back.
But people like the name on People want to see
the names on the back. Fans want to see the
names on the back. You mean Logan Webless for just
a logo, right, well, Logan Webless, Like, well, how could
you not love Logan Webb twenty four years old coming
(01:17:11):
out striking out ten. I mean it's just great individual
performances man, I know you're it's a great point. You
already Alvarez in Houston. You know that whole forget about
the cheat and then everything else, but you already Alvarez. Man,
what a player he's not. You know, he's just a
tremendous player, talker he is. And he's a great ballplayer,
(01:17:36):
I mean, great ballplayer. They Bregman's a great ball player.
Karay is a great ballplayer. There they're they're just there're
they played the game. They're elite. I love it. All right,
We'll take a quick Teal will come right back. Don't
go anywhere. The fellas right here on Fox Sports Radio.

let me see, it's a real quick have either of you,
did you guys? See the many Saints of new work.
What do you think, Nick? I thought it was fantastic.
I think, yeah, yeah, I think that. You know, if
(01:18:47):
you're going again, if you're going in expecting a tony soprano, Hey,
this is exactly how he got into the mob, you're
gonna be disappointed. It focuses on his uncle or on
his uncle, I should say. And you know, it was
two hours? Was I think a solid two hours? You know,
And maybe I will say this it maybe literally go
back and we watched the prowns. I'm currently on episode
eleven the season two. How you really you went back?
(01:19:09):
You started to watch It's fun? Well, the interesting thing
it was fun. I mean it wasn't great storytelling. There
was some holes in the story and the plot, and
you know it was a little cartoons of times. But
I agree overall, you know, it was fun. If you
like the show, it was it was fun in that way.
(01:19:29):
And uh, there was uh it was it was interesting
because I could totally seem I felt the same way.
At the end. I was like, oh wow, like I
want to go back and I want to kind of
compare notes, right, like you want to almost kind of
compare the backstory because they went and they obviously they
(01:19:52):
went and looked at all the all the stories and
they matched it. They pieced it all together. And that's
the cool things when you go back to watched the
show and they mentioned a little stories, the things about
characters in the past. You watched Man Stands Newark, You're like, oh,
I know exactly what they're talking about. Oh yeah, I
can picture of this. That's why it hits home for
(01:20:12):
me outside from thing Italian. Have you seen Squid Game anybody,
Chris anything? It's uh, I've had people tell me about it.
I haven't gotten to it yet. It's so we can't
had a lot of time to sit down with TV. Yeah,
it's something. It's a tough time a year because a
lot of football and the whole thing. But I watched
the first episode last night. It's you know, it's trending
(01:20:37):
on Netflix since their number one show, and it's a
Korean show. It's tremendous. It's it's really good man, It's
it's it's a great show. I was thinking about this
like the Big movie, because I can't wait to see Bond, right.
I'm a big Daniel Craig fan. I love the James
(01:20:58):
Bond stuff. So I want to go see so many
Bond movies. I want to see this so bad. Yeah,
I don't want to go see it in the theater too,
like I like to see in the theater. But the
because we love story is the movie is antiquated. We
talk about the word antiquated, but the film the one
kind of film where it's a one off story told
(01:21:21):
in two hours. Is that done? Chris, No, I'm I'm
still for that just because like I like getting in
and out. I like some brevity sometimes. Um, probably not
going to be brief as a movie, but I'm really
looking forward to Dune and I don't I don't know
if I know that's like a multi book series, but
I don't think they're gonna make more than the first one.
But we'll say, all right, all right, we're the Fellas
(01:21:44):
NFL stuff coming up next quarter pole. Let's check it
out right here, Fellas on Fox. Fox Sports Radio has
the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all
of our shows at Fox Sports Radio dot com and
within the I Heart Radio search f s R to
listen live. All right, Welcome back, Happy, Happy, Happy Saturday.
(01:22:06):
It's a Fox Football Saturday. Let that resonate for a
minute as we hang out. Good stuff today College Penn State,
Iowa on Fox four o'clock eastern, one o'clock Pacific. That's
a great game. So we'll have some fun with that
(01:22:28):
one four versus five in that game tonight. To get
some good games tonight too, when a little bit later
on in the afternoon, Actually Georgia and all of our
Georgia justice is supreme. Yeah, I can't. Alabama crushes all
(01:22:49):
miss and and that was really really impressive, I really
impressive performance. But I still think Georgia is the best
team in the country when it comes to that. Defense
is so good, so good. Um, And then tonight's a
it's a great one. So four versus three tonight at
out about four eastern, one Pacific. And then you got Michigan, Nebraska,
(01:23:16):
Notre Dame VOTEC from Blacksburg, Kentucky, l s U, Damn
Texas A, and m Utah USC. So some some really
good football tonight. And then let's talk about Week five
in the NFL. So at the quarter pole, let's look
at some of these teams and we're kind of where
(01:23:36):
they stand. Because when you think about and I'll tell
you coaches, you know, and I know that they look
at this stuff and they go, uh, you go, well,
you know, Let's let's be real here for a second.
Most of the there's seventeen games they go by the
quarter pole because it's gives you a little kind of
block of time to evaluate your team and self scout.
(01:24:00):
So we talked about the Seahawks. We talked a lot
about the West. I still think the Rams are are
in a good place. The Arizona's fun. You're gonna have,
You're gonna have San Francisco and Lance. What does Lance
through against Arizon. I'm curious about the defense. I know, look,
I know Murray is terrific and the offense is really good.
(01:24:24):
This Arizona defense could be the game changer. So I'm
curious to see where they're at moving forward. Let's go
to the a f C for a second, because Bills
in Kansas City tonight. When you look at that division, Chris,
I mean, the Bills are gonna run away with the
East again, nobody's even close. Miami's bad team. New Englands
(01:24:50):
are what they are, and the Jets are what they are.
So it's clearly a Bill's division and it's just gonna
be about you know, and they can they beat the
Chiefs and the Chargers. Yeah, I think everyone. I think
for the Bills, they're just looking towards like you're this
this feels like a playoff preview right for the for
(01:25:13):
the a f C. It's it's amazing how the East
only has one good team ever at any given point.
It's it's never good. It's it's always a rotten division.
And we thought the start of this year that Bills
and maybe the Dolphins were going to be the ones
squaring off and you know, maybe two takes that next
step and just hang around or who knows how the
Patriots rebuild is going to go. But no, no, we're
(01:25:36):
at Bills are three and one, and everyone else in
that division is one in three. It's amazing, man, they
are not They're not good. It's not even close to
like Dolphins and Chafts are both minus forty seven on
point deferential to Yeah, I mean the Dolphins, they're terrible.
And what did they do with the draft? Did you
understand that draft? It's funny the Eagles have their pick
(01:26:00):
and it's going to be I that's unreal. Yeah, I
think the Eagles are also I'll be curious see what
happens to the Eagles with that Carson Wentz pick two,
Eagles could be um be sitting pretty coming in Indianapolis.
Is first round the first round pick two, It could
be if it could be a first right condition, it
(01:26:20):
could be a first if he plays of the snaps
or I forget to do the seventy or eighty. But
here's the thing. If you're Indianapolis. Now, they won last week,
so you keep it going. But at some point you
gotta make a decision. You can't give up a top
ten pick. Yeah, I mean, you could deliberately sit him.
(01:26:44):
But at the same time, we keep hearing about all
the Colts like that this is their their time to
do it, this is their big run, and you know
they've got this great team around him. And then they
went and got Carson Wentz to try to round it out. Now,
as you say that division still with and reach at
the quarter pole. It's not like it's like oh and
four and the leader is running away with The Titans
(01:27:05):
are five hundred, the Colts are And when the Titans
your to your point, they're not very good. They're bagged
up on the offensive line, their defense isn't good, their
defense has been shockingly bad. Like I I've been shocked
just how bad They've given up a hundred and eleven
points in four games. That second worst in the a
(01:27:29):
f C. Only even Kids of City has given up more. Actually,
third word, excuse me, because the Texas have given up
one sixteen. Yeah, and bringing this almost back full circle
to Bills and Chiefs, like the Chiefs right now now
obviously four games, but we get to say that the
Chiefs are dead last in the a f C West.
And I still have faith in Patrick Mahomes. I still
(01:27:51):
have faith in that offense. But there's a lot of
question marks around Kansas City, and I think for everyone
who's penciling them in to just go straight back to
the super Bowl, you have to remember this is tough.
This is really tough, and I I don't know like
they've Mahomes has still been able to cure. He had
like five touchdowns last week against the Eagles. But there's
(01:28:14):
been some games where it's just my god, this is
this is what they are, Like, Okay, you lose last second.
They struggled, but see they struggled against they struggled with
your defense, right, and they've struggled granted against some really
good teams too. They struggled against the Ravens and the Chargers.
Those are your two losses. But you also gave up
(01:28:37):
thirty to Philadelphia, which I mean, you're you're the Philadelphia guy.
I didn't have a lot of expectations for the Eagles
this year. Yeah, but that thirty was was a little
misconstrued because really two touchdowns coming garbage time right now,
they moved the ball up and down the field. They
didn't pawnt. So you know, obviously they need help defensively,
so as it just do they have holes? You think
(01:28:58):
it's a slow start for in the city. I think
their offense is great. I think defensively there they lacked personnel.
I mean, here's the thing. They're all they also banged up,
and they you know, they lack corners, man, Like I know,
you know, listen, I know Spags really well, and he's
a dear friend and I love the guy, and I
(01:29:20):
know that right now. I mean, he he knew he
needed to take away Davante Smith last week, but he's
got no corner to do it right. He was down
pass Rosher. So you know, they got some they got
some issues. I gotta believe they square it away. We're
(01:29:40):
too good. I mean, listen, I think the charges are legit.
I love Herbert. I think the Chiefs are gonna be
right there. And you know, I think really it's there.
It's a top. It's those three teams, Buffalo, Casey and
the Chargers, and then there's you know, then there's Baltimore.
(01:30:01):
I'd sell you. I like to Cincinnati team a lot.
I mean, I don't think they're serious, but like but
to get out of the a f C. But I
do like him a lot. I don't know what you think. No,
I think their offense is showing a lot of promise.
I this was a team that I was kind of
worried when they didn't take an offensive lineman in the
draft to protect Joe Burrow. But they've had they have.
(01:30:24):
They just have so many great offensive weapons. It's hard
not to watch them, to to like for them, to know,
it's hard for them to not score. Let's just put
it that way. When you've got the offensive weapons they have,
bea T. Higgins or Jamaar Chase, like, as long as
Joe Burrow is making those connections there, the Cincinnati Bengals
(01:30:45):
are gonna put points on the board, and so far
in four games, that's worked their favor. Now, granted, they've
gotten to play some teams who have been kind of
more rose in ways. I don't think there we expected them.
Like the Vikings was a fascinating game game and they
beat up on the Steelers, which I mean, that's a
divisional game. I did throw every all the record books
(01:31:06):
out when it comes to the a f C North.
When it's divisional games, they just beat each other up.
But they took advantage of the Steelers right when they
needed to. This week, they're going to get to play
the Packers. It's gonna be a real exciting test. They
get to host the Packers in Cincinnati, and I think
that's going to be a fascinating test of of of
I think it'll be a high scoring game. I think
(01:31:29):
that's going to be fantastic. Green Bays defense. You can
we talked about it earlier and I agree with you.
You can move the ball on Green Bay. Yeah, I
actually I could see Cincinnati win in this game. They've
held some of these teams to uh to decent amounts.
I don't have their numbers up on their defense right now,
but yeah, I I don't know what, but it should
(01:31:51):
be interesting. I might take the over. They allowed let's see,
they all a twawnty Ford to Minnesota and over time
they allowed Horny to Chicago. They allowed Tanda Pittsburgh and
twenty one to Jacksonville. And they also have eleven sex
on the year as well. Yeah, no, they listen. I
(01:32:12):
think that's I think that's a trap game for Cream
Bay because they know what's funny talking to everybody, Oh
the pack You know when you're going over during the
week and you start to go over the games to
who everybody likes. Everybody's in love with the Packers as
a road favorite, late only short lines three. I think
it's got Green Bay. I think it's at Cincinnati written
all over. They they had the first week scare against
(01:32:34):
the Saints where everyone started to panic. Then they got
to get right game against the Lions, which, as someone
who covers the Lions, yeah, you should have had that
one pretty well up. But they needed I mean it
was it was less than the field goal to win
the forty Niners game. And then they played those same
Steelers were talking about who have looked more abound who
I'm just gonna keep using the big words when it
(01:32:56):
comes to Steelers, I don't think the Steelers are very good.
I think this might be if they don't figure it
out soon, this might be the end of that Steelers
run right now. But I mean, Green's shame. The shame
for Pittsburgh is it's got a good defense. I like
Nazi Harris, the quarterbacks, just it's the ends for Roethlisberger. Yeah, no,
(01:33:16):
he's just cooked. I mean, that's the shame of it.
You know, they're baged up on the outside with what
their receivers they still got, they still have, you know,
Deonte Johnson, like, come on, Yeah, maybe maybe I should
amend that. I should say that they've got a good team,
but this might be the end for the Roethlisberger rotten.
I think that's probably the better way they should be.
I don't know where they're gonna end this year, but
(01:33:36):
they should probably be looking towards a quarterback in the
draft if they don't have one in the house, and
I don't think they have one in house. Is going
to no. I agree with you. I do. I think
you're you're dead right about that. You know, I look
at that division and I go, it's an interesting Division.
I think, like I don't think Pittsburgh is completely done,
(01:33:58):
but you know, are probably fourth because I would put
Cincinnatti better than that. And then you got the two
top teams in the division, Baltimore and Cleveland. And Cleveland
has looked fantastic defensively, Yes, they've had about Baker and
we'll see becase you know he's he's banged up, so
(01:34:19):
he's playing hurt. So we'll see if they can overcome that.
And that's a great game the Charges in the Browns.
That's gonna be a defensive slug fest. The Chargers have
shown you in the first four games their defense is
nothing to mess around with. And as I just said,
like they the Browns. They held the Vikings to seven points,
(01:34:41):
they held the Bears to six. Like, I don't know
what's going to happen with Baker Mayfield. I don't think
he's looked that great this year, but clearly the Browns
know how to stop the ball, and there they'll be
in a very There'll be a very tough matchup for
Justin Herbert, who has looked fantastic. He's got that rate
connection to Austin Ekeler. Like the Chargers, I think have
(01:35:04):
the better offense in this game, so I kind of
give them the edge here. I'll be honest with you.
The line is like two, and I think it should
be more. I love that Charger team. Well, I think
I think it's a sorting game because I just don't
think that, you know, Chubb and Haunt can gas them.
(01:35:24):
I think that's a good, strong defense, and they're going
to test you, you know, offensively. It's not just that
Claire right like, they got weapons, you know, Keenan Allen
and and Mike Williams has been great. That's it's cook
the tight end. I mean, that's a good school. That's
a really good team, and this is gonna be the
(01:35:46):
biggest test I think the Chargers offensive line might face
all season because I mean, you know, let's see how
good a Shawn Slater is and Lindsay and like all
these guys they brought in, and you know, I think
that that's the magic I'm gonna be looking at the
most is justus Miles Garrett, Jadamon Clowney versus that offensive line.
I mean, because Myles Garrett's game triple team now man
(01:36:07):
like like you know, so it's gonna be really really interesting.
I you know as I think her verts. Of course,
I think the better quarterback going into this game. But
you know, man, it's it's gonna be a very interesting slugfest.
I think, yeah, yeah, I hear you. I I agree.
I like the charge in the game. Should be a
lot of fun. Alright, we're gonna take a quick t
(01:36:28):
O will come back and we're gonna talk to the
geek give you some good fantasy advice. Man. Looking forward
to it. He's coming up next. We'll talk a little
fantasy football. Don't forget Big Brandon Brad to give you
some picks. That's coming up next hour. Where the fellas
right here on Fox Sports Radio and the All the
(01:36:51):
Way Love We're live. I know, fellas, I was listening
to the song man. All right, let's continue our foray
around the NFL, and then I want to ask you
guys a question, all right, because I'm curious. I had
(01:37:14):
this conversation on my local show about the league, and
I think it's great. I know, there's too many flags.
I was getting conversation. I was getting messages on social
media from listeners saying, oh my god, I hate the
league is too many flags. It's a flag fast stinks
(01:37:38):
it's not physical enough. And I and I don't I'll
be honest with you. I see like there are times
when I go, wow, man, yeah, I could miss some
good physical defense. And look, we you know back in
the day, if you go back to nineties eighties, you know,
they sold the league off of big hits, right, you know,
(01:38:01):
when any kind of NFL special, the highlights were always
about hits. So they prostituted the violence of the game.
And now because of concussions and the physicality, and you know,
protecting the quarterbacks because that's the other thing, right, you know,
the other thing is their unholy relationship with fantasy football
(01:38:23):
and gambling. That is, they need to make sure the
quarterbacks are up right, and that leads to ridiculous rules.
So it's over litigated and they really want to steer
it to offtitute to offense. Well, it's amazing because I
think the game, much like baseball we're talking about earlier baseball,
(01:38:44):
eclipses the idiocy of MLB. The fact that baseball can
survive is because of the game right there. You know,
we still love the game, and no matter how badly
the game is run by MLB, the game still Trump's
the bad executives that run that sport football. Listen, it's
(01:39:08):
run well, but there's a clear agenda and the game
has changed. But I I can't in good conscience tell
you like, oh my god, and go get off my lawn.
It was better in seven I like it. I enjoy it. No,
(01:39:31):
I like I like high flying offenses. I like I
like seeing some good defense. I want to see sax
and I want to see you know, interceptions. But I
don't want to go back like you. I don't want
to go back to those days of a seven three
slug fest. Those don't That doesn't really appeal to me.
And if fairs, I mean, you know, you didn't really
see that in in the nineties. I mean it was,
(01:39:53):
I mean, it was a good quarterback, but it wasn't
an elite quarterback play like you have now. You have
less great quarterbacks. You had your Montana, you had your
l Way. But after after like three guys like yeah, yeah, no,
I agree with that. I do. And here's the thing too, Look,
make it so much easier for quarterbacks, but the court
(01:40:16):
of the position is also evolved. I mean, once you
have Peyton come in and be a professor on the field,
you know, to get in the game is heightened. The position.
There is an evolution and it's different, right, Like I
still believe like the best quarterback, I can't even say
(01:40:38):
Brady has he's the winning is to Clutches. I mean,
you know, he's the goat without a doubt. But if
I just still give you the best thrower is Marino.
Like when I think about throwing only because he he
could have he had the quickest release, and he was accurate,
(01:41:05):
and he would do so he would take a hit
in the game, was you know, much more physical and
they got away with a lot more. You know, they
would pick you up and and and body slam. Yeah
it was. And again you can hang on and receivers,
so in that case much different. And he had such
a he had a ridiculous arm. I think the other
(01:41:25):
thing has changes that. I think that again we're talking
about that third tier of quarterback who's usually not great.
There's better options for them to succeed now as well, too.
You have more pass catching running backs, you have better
tight end play, you have these you know, like I
I look the example of Jared Goff, who can either
dump off or get his first read well, he doesn't
(01:41:49):
need to completely eat dirt. He's got options where he
can still succeed and have a good half with those
as his options. To your original question about flags, though,
I don't think anything's really bothered me. I think the
it's the it's the same thing as always when it
comes to pass interference, is that this has been a
problem for the league where they keep going back and
(01:42:10):
forth on pass interference and nobody seems to be able
to solve that. And then it's just, you know, the
flags for taunting seem to be the big thing this year.
We yeah, which which can I ask you? And maybe
this is where you know, it could be an old
school new school thing. And then I want to get
everybody's opinion. Eight seven seven nine nine on Fox. Eight
(01:42:30):
seven seven ninety nine on Fox. And I'm curious what
you guys think about the game and if you think
the game is as great as it's always been. And
I'm not saying you gotta go back to seven, go
back to two thousand and ten, to the game has
changed a lot since oh five it was physical, no five,
oh six, oh seven, it's really last ten years where
(01:42:53):
it's it's really kind of not even at last five years,
the game has gotten even more heightened with fantasy and
these you know, cridiculous quarterback play. But I'll ask you,
and I'm curious at your response, Chris, because when when
I look at taunting, I think it's ridiculous. I mean,
(01:43:18):
we you we used to talk about trash talking all
the time. That's what's haunting is you play physical support.
It's gamesmanship. You're trying to get guys out of there,
you know, out of her head. You're trying to mess
with him a bit. What's wrong with it? As as
you mentioned before, this is kind of where the NFL
(01:43:38):
is doing something bad and the football soldiers through this.
They took one step forward by allowing better, uh you know,
more leniency in the touchdown celebrations, and then two steps
way back with this taunting penalty. And you've just got
to point the finger at at just old heads like
John Mara who went up before the season and defended
(01:43:58):
this this thing Big Riskley and said things like, we
don't think this belongs to the lead in the game
at all. No, it kind of does. People like it.
It's like it's like with the bat flip and the
unwritten rules and in baseball, the minute you try to
curb and in any kind of enthusiasm is where people
start to tune out and like, yeah, maybe maybe you're
(01:44:19):
a little conservative, and maybe you think it looks a
little tack, you're trashy, but so what Like this is,
especially in a game like football, which is played on
sheer adrenaline, you have to whip yourself into an animalistic
frenzy just to play this game at the level guys do.
Now you're telling them, in that animalistic frenzy, dial it
(01:44:40):
back a bit and don't hurt, and don't make a
don't make a taunting gesture. What what are you talking about?
What kind of thin line? Can anyone like? It drives
me insane? Yeah, it does, it does, it really does.
I just don't understand it. I don't know why you
need to overlot the game, did I don't I don't understand. Listen,
(01:45:04):
if it's something that is completely offensive, that's one thing,
but you know, getting getting somebody's face, you know, the
first stepping over, like not even stepping over someone, but
standing above them for just a second too long. And
thankfully we haven't seen too many of these flags, but still,
when they do come out. They're just the groans are
(01:45:26):
just audible. I just don't understand it. I think it's
stupid and it changes games like that fifteen yarder, you know,
and we've seen this before with quarterbacks, Like there was
a game last I forget which one where there was
a complete ballot call somebody's calls, you know, And that's
and and that's the only thing. And I understand where
(01:45:48):
people get aggravated at all the flags. It's like, yo, dude,
let the players play all right, stop and going back
to again p I, Like that's I think that's where
the it's really starting. Great people on p I P I.
I understand why it's a spot penalty, but people are
really asking seeing some of these past interference calls, like
(01:46:11):
really like that is going to flip the field, that
is going to give the offense sixty yards on a
tic attacks. It's just it's too much reward for not
that harsh of a penalty. But it doesn't it doesn't
make the game even less enjoyable. Like I look forward
(01:46:33):
to NFL games, I do all yeah, right, you know
eight seven seven nine at all Fox. I want to
hear from you guys. First, let's go to Brian with
some trending bride take it away, Yes, and we begin
in baseball Divisional Series action from Friday and the Giants
take it to the Dodgers for to nothing with the
(01:46:54):
twenty four year old logan web on the mound for
San Fran and did he dazzle or what? Seven and
two thirds innings, ten strikeouts as he gave up five hits,
San Fran clocking three home runs, including that two run
shot by Buster Posey, And that game, too, was gonna
be later on today at nine oh seven Eastern, the
(01:47:15):
Red Sox fill a the raise fourteen to six, Boston
mustering up twenty hits. They were binging on the offensive
side of things, and because of that, that matchup is
all tied up at one game. Rowdy tells goes Yard
with a two run blast to guide the Brewers over
the Braves two to one in Milwaukee, grabs hold of
(01:47:35):
that first game of that series, while the Astros grasp
on to a two games to one edge over the
White Sox after Houston took it to Chicago nine to four,
and in that seventh inning Houston with five runs. College
football had a couple of games involving top twenty five
teams on Friday, including number twenty two Arizona State stapling
(01:47:59):
Stanford eight to ten, as the Sun Devil has improved
to five and one on the season. Herm Edwards has
things going really well on the offensive and defensive side
of the ball. Three interceptions for a s U and
this one and three touchdowns on the ground for the
Sun Devils, and number five Cincinnati won by many touchdowns
(01:48:20):
against Ant's Temple Hows fifty two to three. The Bearcats
had just twenty eight points in the third quarter as
they were all over it when it came to getting
their offense going. And finally, Seahawks Russell Wilson will be
absent four to eight weeks without injury to his middle finger,
which is to his throwing hand. He had already had
(01:48:41):
surgery surgery on it, and Gino Smith, while the recovery
is taking place, will man the quarterback duties until Wilson returns.
And I believe and as I send it back to
you with Gino in there, I think that you think
that maybe the Seahawks could just win the rest of
their games, and or maybe maybe not, maybe it's just
the Cardinals back to you. You're so bad trying to
(01:49:07):
converse with you. Yeah, I got no interest in converse
with you. Brother, that's all. It's all good. You're trending
and then you sent it back to me. Your your
little plays are just not They're not good. They're not funny.
I'm not trying to be funny. Am I laughing? You bad?
(01:49:27):
Sarcasm is just bad. Well that's an opinion of yours.
I mean, it's just not good. Where was I sarcastic
that I thought that that Seahawks gonna win all the
rest of the game? To Gino Smith, I mean, that's
just stupid. Why do you waste for my time? Well,
then why are you talking to me? I'm you asked me,
so I'm conversing. You wanted to converse. I'll send it
(01:49:50):
back to you. Take it, man, you got you got it,
You got it right there? He is, be fat Fat
got his last trending before Ela comes in. Help me. Man,
come on, Chris, listen, I'm started with friendly before I
don't I'm not. I'm I am being a neutral party
(01:50:13):
in this. I am a switching now. I love Bride.
He's great. We go at it every every time. He
fills it for Figgy. We go at it as I
missed Figgy dearly every week. All right, let's get back
to some real talk. Enough of the nonsense. Let's discuss
(01:50:33):
where the league is at, all right, because I was
surprised to find out that there's a lot of people going,
you know, it's too much two flags and two mouths,
and there's a lot of griping about it. And I
don't know if it's every year, Like everybody watches the
ratings are ridiculous. We all love it. And I gotta
(01:50:55):
tell you, I look forward to it like I like
I've always have, Like I can't wait Week five, Like
come in? Is the game? Does the game suffice? Is
the question? All right? Let's go eight seven, seven ninety
Fox is how you reach out? Let's go to Tony
and Charlotte. Good morning, tone, Hey guys, how are you
(01:51:19):
so good? So I wanted to I'm kind of in
the middle of this because I think we have to
differentiate the changes that have happened as a result of
making the game safer. Do the concussions and those are happening?
Because I think that the league is, you know, consciously
trying to steer us into high flying offense. So I
(01:51:40):
think the ones that are ready to safety, I'm totally
fine with those changes, you know, whether it's common Tom
hit you know, I'm protected receivers, all of that stuff.
But I also think that the pendulum has swung too
far to the other side that relates to just make
it easier for offenses to score points. And that's the
one I have problem, Like you have to have give
(01:52:02):
the defense is a chance, right, So we've seen, for example,
offensive holding calls are very few in part between, you know,
and so it will make it even more difficult fort
defensive linement to get to the quarterback, you know, and
that kind of thing. Um, you know, I do think
overall what has resulted is, you know, while we don't
see dominant defenses, we see more athletics, faster defenses. So
(01:52:26):
it's steel exciting to me. But to your point when
you see like interceptions and some of the plays these guys.
But I think eventually there's going to be a point
of over saturation in terms of how easy it is
for the quarterbacks, you know, any jag now yeah, yeah, now,
And it's your point, how quickly they can they can
(01:52:48):
move down the field too. Yeah, exactly. So I think
you know what it does. It puts an asterisk, you
know on some of these things like oh, you know,
he's the first quarterback to ever do this and that.
And look at some of our legendary quarterbacks by Montana
and Elway, and they met Marino at the air they
played in like, their numbers look totally unimpressive now compared
to some of the numbers that these guys are putting up.
(01:53:09):
And I don't think because of difference in talent, you know,
it's almost like a different sport. That's a great point,
great point man, Thank you, Tony. That's a great conversation.
That's a great point that you bring up. It's true,
and that's why you can't quantify football with numbers, man,
you can't do it. And this that we listen, it's
(01:53:31):
all fine playing fantasy football, but let's let's look. I'll
bring up Jalen Hurts, who through for almost four hundred
yards last week. Now, were they real foreign yards? Four
hundred that's a big number. You know we're talking about
He's talking about elite quarterbacks, right the Elways. Marino's montown
(01:53:52):
is keep going through for eight men far like you
just keep Jim Kelly right through the you know, eighties,
nineties and early offs. You know, four yards now, you know,
and I like Jayalen is a great kid, but you know,
I mean he's not. I mean he's a borderline NFL starter.
But you see these numbers and there you go, oh
(01:54:13):
my god, well look you threw over warning yards. You know,
it's the it's every the game skewed that way. So
there is a piece of which is why you know,
you miss some of that, like physical football, defensive football.
Let's go to Michael in Virginia. Good morning, Michael. Hey,
(01:54:35):
great Carl uh, long time listener. Finally, first time caller.
I've been I've been list of yourself for so long
when you were attack to you with Linking Kennedy and
I'm like, finally, finally I get on your show. Welcome.
Michael's the best man. Yeah. I think that's raid to
(01:54:56):
why the NFL is going high flying because one of
dec reasons why there's a lot of them, but one
of the reasons why, it's because what Jimmy Johnson did
when he brought back in the night. He with the
whole m Smith, Michael Ervin, Alvin Harper, and j Nocheck
type offense that that kind of forced other teams to
go high flying as well, you know, high scorn, and
they matched it with the great defense. And also both
(01:55:19):
defensive lines and offensive lines were great. So Jimmy Johnson
kind of what he did with that Dallas Cowboy to
dynasty gotta forced that toward the NFL had to take
notice and say, well, you know, an owner, for us
to match that, we got to have like a speet
on the house side like Calvin Harper, and we gotta
have a resss receiver like Michael Irvin. And we've gotta
have a power running back like Emmis Smith. Oh and
(01:55:40):
by the way, I had to have a great offensive
line I matching. So I think that's one of the
reasons why I know, there's a lot of reasons why
that happened like that, but the whole Dallas Cowboy dynasty
kind of forced to put the NFL on notice to
where you gotta be a high fly in order to
get actually winning this league. That's a great point that
that was sort of the bridge to modern football, because yeah,
(01:56:04):
I I certainly agree with that, like that offense was
one of the great and and obviously the Bill's offense
that one of the teams they built they beat was
the same thing in the a f C where you
were running a spread with Kelly and Thermant Thomas and
Andre Reid. No, it's a great that's a great point.
(01:56:24):
You gotta my text, buddy. Appreciated, Pal. We'll continue with
your calls. I'm curious. I love of the conversation about
what now we're at the quarter pole and kind of
what you think of the game, Like where are we
at eight seven, seven, nine nine on Fox? Is how
you reach us? Don't forget. Coming up in a half hour,
we'll talk to the big brain on Brad to uh
(01:56:47):
get us set for all the games and give you
some plays. Looking at it from a betting standpoint, we'll
do that as well. Where the fellas right here on
Fox Sports Radio. All right, welcome back fellas hanging out
on a Fox Football Saturday. Don't forget. Fellas are always

(01:57:40):
I was surprised that, you know, the overltigation of the
league with all the flags and everything and the lack
of allowing teams to play defense has affected I think
the fans, which I didn't really see it. And I
don't know if it's you know, older generational thing, you know,
(01:58:05):
or if it's just you know, if you're into with
fantasy and numbers and gets all that matters, but the
sport itself, where do you stand? Because I didn't really
expect it until I had a conversation on my local show,
and you know, people were kind of exasperated. I was.
I was really surprised at it. Let's go to uh
Nikki is in Philadelphia, Nikki, good morning, was a buddy,
(01:58:30):
Niki not much listen, A great job, um and basically
with that your bias, thank you, uh Bays all bas
All playoff has been great. I mean it is pitched
by pitch and I know they're in the sea that
we get sometimes be tired of the July games, but
you know, taber baseball is great now football, Um, you know,
(01:58:53):
I think a couple of years ago, I was fed
up with the flag because I feel like there was
a big spike and vision and our understanding of football weren't.
We weren't ready for that over you know, officiated game.
But now I don't notice it as much unless it's
like a blatant, blatant calling. You're right. There was a
game last week. My receiver had like a big fifteen
(01:59:16):
yard pick up. It was like third and twelve or something,
and only did was spike it on the sideline. And
I get it, it was on the opposing sideline, but
he didn't do to anybody's face. He didn't say anything.
He just spiked it and walked off and they gave
a fifteen yard or I think it was a RAMS game.
They sure I got backed up and had to kick
the ball. But the Sunday game, the RAM Sunday game,
I think so, yes, Yes, it's difficult. Um, I'll say
(01:59:40):
this though. The PTI had to be adjusted, though I
kind of I've always said, like the college pt I
fifteen yards first down, but in the NFL that will mgate.
You know, a late drive or down six, you're on
your own ten and and the Sean Jackson gets behind
you went to fifty and you just yank them down
and the next thing you know, you're only at Yeah,
(02:00:03):
I agree with that. Like that's you know, when you're
when you're getting p I penalties that go fifty yards
when the defensive back is already in a bad place.
It's too it's too much, but you have but you
have to protect like the you know the Belichicks that
are so smart that they go over seconds left, I'll
(02:00:27):
take a fifteen yard or but you're in fifty seven
yards all me. You know the six second play, so
now down to eleven seconds. Then you still have to
matriculate tew me five more yards down the field because
you because you know your player made a good play
behind the secondary. But yeah, great, because here's the thing too,
Like in that league, you know you're right, like if
(02:00:49):
Seawan Jackson gets behind you and you just tackle his
legs and just go, I'm only giving up fifteen. There's
gotta be there has to be a fine line between,
you know, It's almost like you can have you can
have a fifteen yard and a fifteen yard right, like
like you remember how like you have running into the
(02:01:09):
kicker and you have something it's a fifteen yard for
one frac, right, it should be the same way with
pass interference. Well, you know, Um and Cristal appreciate this.
In soccer, there's a yellow card in the red card.
If you get behind the last player, defensive player, and
somebody calls it the fouls you from behind physically behind
you like you're ahead of the play, then it's an
(02:01:32):
automatic objection. If there's just a regular foul, then you
can still get a yellow card. So it's gotta be
something like they should have personal foul fifteen yards first down,
and then it should be like unsportsman like personal foul
when you you unsportsman like pull somebody down to I like,
two different infractions. Great, nicky, great stuff, man, I I
(02:01:53):
appreciate a brother. Um, that's a great call because I
do think that's that's a nov a bowl uh conundrum there,
and I think that's a way to approach it. Chris.
If you had the two infractions right where you know,
it's up to the official discratch like that's a fifteen
(02:02:14):
yard p I or that's a spot foul right where
it's four yards. I think the only question is how
much is that just going to cause more issues where
people are going to argue about splitting hairs between the two.
But yeah, I think it is just trying to figure
out a way, right, how do you figure out the way?
All right, well we'll discuss it where the fell is
(02:02:35):
big hour ahead and right here on Fox Sports. Fox
Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation.
Catch all of our shows at Fox Sports Radio dot
com and within the i Heart Radio app search f
s R to listen live. All right, welcome back, foul Laws.
(02:02:58):
It's a Fox foot Ball Saturday. We got a lot
of good college games going on today. That jewel is
three and four in Iowa City, Penn State, Iowa. It's
gonna have a lot to do with the Big ten.
Looking forward to that. A couple all the good ones too, Georgia. Uh,
(02:03:24):
they are terrific back in action, Rolburn and of course
Alabama and um uh and then the big boys. They're
doing a lot of NFL conversation here and where we
think the game is is it you know too? Is
it overlitigated to too many flags for you? I think
(02:03:45):
we we stumbled on something that he brought up something
very interesting. Uh, last hour And in case you're just
joining us. We're talking about the league itself, and you know,
here we are four weeks and it would end in
the week five. And I had an odd conversation on
my local show during the week which where a lot
of people were expressing, you know, discussed with the lead.
(02:04:05):
And I was like, wow, that kind of caught me
off guard because I look at every game was like
a holiday for me, Like I, I just enjoy it.
So I was kind of taken aback by the why
they already fags. It's it's too soft, there's no defense.
You know, it's all true. But I started to look
(02:04:26):
at it. I go like, do I miss some of
the big hits, some of the big safeties, the John lynches,
you know, roaming over the middle, you know, those head
on e safeties, And yeah, I mean listen, they were
they were fun. I mean, let's face it. You know,
we all have that primal kind of that primal fan
(02:04:48):
that's inside us. So when we see the big hits, it's,
you know, it's exhilarating, but you understand with you know,
taking care of health and and that sort of thing
where we're at. And I still love the game, like
I I you know, I didn't. It wasn't until this
conversation that came out of the Blue guy brought it
(02:05:08):
up and we got on the subject of it where
I really took a look at it from a global
standpoint of where you think the game is eight seven, seven,
nine nine on Fox is how you join us? Also
joining us coming up in about twenty minutes study even
we'll get to the big Brain on brad As. We'll
(02:05:31):
look at all the games from a betting standpoint, getting
some picks for college, the NFL, and of course the
baseball playoffs. Let's go to uh Noah is in Hawaii
in Ohio. Hello Noah, good morning. How you done, good buddy. So,
I mean I think the state of the NFL, I
(02:05:51):
think what it is. I think it's all right for
today because you know it's it's the shootout offenses and
defenses have kind of just pushed to the waist because
I mean, I know the NFL doesn't have this problem
like the major leagues, but they still want to appeal
to the younger generation. You know, if you're a ten
year old kid, you don't want to wait all day
for the Sunday for the Sunday bills and Chiefs to
(02:06:12):
play just for the Bills to win ten to seven.
You want to see those two teams just absolutely just
go at each other and that be sixty scored. So
but my my dad, who grew up in the sixties
and seventies watching football sits around and complain because they
don't play any defense. So I think personal, personal preference
of what you think it is, you know. But that's
(02:06:36):
a good point. I don't think it will ever go
back to the to the defense. No, no, no, I
agree with you. You're never gonna see a Sea Chaine
where it's back to you know, seventeen ten. Listen, that
league has always looked at the average number of points
and figure out a way how can we increase scoring.
They've been doing that for the last thirty years. They
(02:06:57):
know that what what is their bread? Fantasy football, gambling,
all that stuff, you know, helps with the excitement of
the sport. But let me ask you what you were
a baseball do you I was saying this earlier, I
have an eight year old who loves the game. Do
you think it's antiquated? Because I still I still think
kids like the game. I mean, I think a lot
(02:07:20):
of it is just I think I think so. Yeah.
I mean when I was eight years old, I mean
I was that that was my bread and butter. And
I love the NFL, but you know, my main sports
still going to be baseball. And but where I grew
up in, you know, baseball was I was the only
kid who who actually watched baseball and really really yea, yeah,
(02:07:40):
so I I just it's not as fast paced. I
don't think. I don't think kids want to sit down
and pay attention for a three hour, four hour long
baseball game. Yeah, I mean, listen, listen something. I don't
want to sit down for a three or four hour
baseball game. Playoffs are a different story in the game
is great, No, a great call man, and with the conversation,
(02:08:00):
Bud uh and I agree with that. Listen. I you know,
I mean there's some slog like awful games. I'm not
comparing it to you know, August and you got fifteen
relievers coming in and at you know, fourteen to eleven
game where it's like, uh, it's pare League softball. I
(02:08:22):
mean that's bad. I'm talking about this playoffs. It's a
lead the game. You you look at those four games yesterday,
they were incredible they were great, great games. John is
in Vegas. Good morning, John, How are you? I'm good brother.
How you doing this morning? Good baby? Good? What's happening? Hey?
(02:08:44):
So I wanted to talk about that passionate fairs thing
with splitting hairs and the way the penalties should be. Yes,
you do me a favorite exost out on me. Start
from the top. What do you think about the ruling guards.
I think the ruling is it's it's starbage, it's starmage.
(02:09:07):
They need to come up with a better way, you know,
make a spot of the foul plus fifteen or something
like that. You know, yeah, I hear you. I you
know what. It's just it feels like when you know,
quarterbacks gonna take a shot down the field, right, and
if you have inadvertent contact and it's you know, borderline.
(02:09:28):
Does the other team really deserve fifty yards on the
penalty that one? No, That's where we get back to
that splitting hair thing. So it's gonna be It's gonna
suck either way, but I think they do. You can
revise it is there too? And then me ask you
this is he too? Are there too many flags? Period? Oh? Definitely,
(02:09:51):
especially like I forget who it was did spike that
ball on the other side the team's sideline? He wasn't.
He wasn't directed at anybody. He was pumped up. Yes,
that's the taunting. Yeah, that's the tawny piece we were
talking about. I agree with you. Yeah, they're going on
(02:10:11):
too far with that. Yeah, you're right. Hey, So have
you been to the new stadium? Oh? I helped build it? Wow?
Did you really? Yeah? It's amazing. Yeah, that's fantastic. People
are people loving it or what? Like? Are they love
(02:10:31):
having the Raiders in town and it's been a party. Yeah,
I've been to. I've been to a game two and
it's the atmosphere is electric. That's cool, man, awesome. Yeah.
If you could come out here to Vegas and catch
a game in there, I recommend it. Seriously. Oh that's fantastic, Johnny,
great call man, Thanks brother, have a great day. Yeah.
(02:10:55):
That stadium looks beautiful. That's so fine and so fine.
It looks absurd certainly beautiful. You know, these spaceship stadiums
are incredible. They really are. Derek my Man d is
back and schennected e. Hello Derek, how you bam? Buddy?
All right, Anthony, I love. As I say, I always
(02:11:15):
love your enthusiasm, and most of us listening to you
were little boys at heart. Don't ever lose it man,
coaching my kids, coaching my kids in baseball. Hey, with
one quick thing, Remember I called your your moderator, and
I said to him, don't forget to tell Anthony that
that full color football thing that I recommended to you,
it's all about the American Football League in the sixties.
(02:11:37):
It may be, Anthony the best documentary on football I
have ever seen. I will, I'm listen. It's on my lists.
I'm definitely gonna watch your brother. Right. It's called Full
Coding Football. You can pick it up on YouTube. My
girlfriend ended up getting me copy the whole thing. There's
like five one hour segments. It's captivating, man, and as
somebody in the business. Great, but listen, quick thing. I
(02:12:00):
think there's two things the NFL needs. At sixty three
years old, I have an elongated perspective of football and
it's been a big, big part of my life. And yeah,
you can't quite go back, but I think they need
to do two things, and I'll quantify it with numbers.
I do think that the best football we ever had
was from eight. Okay, think about the teams. Think about
what happened there. The offense is opened in the late
(02:12:20):
seventies because of past coverage. And then in the late
nineties you had all the great teams, and you still
had Marino Elway and people at Farm and people like
that around. So I think that was the best twenty
year period for me. I still love the game, don't
get me wrong, but I think that two things remove
the politics by and reinsert some old NFL film stuff.
Just a little bit more of that. Man, you, I mean,
(02:12:42):
NFL film stuff is just gorgeous. You young people that
are listening, You young people, go in and find NFL
film stuff. There's this thing called NFL site and sound Anthony.
It's three hours. A guy, shut it up on up
there in the NFL. It's it's as good as anything
the NFL ever did, and it's got John fascend all
the way through the autumn win was a pirate. Yeah,
(02:13:05):
the best all of that stuff. Yeah, you know why.
It's cinematic. I mean, it's it catch your the NFL.
It's funny. The NFL captured the the the NFL films
captured the beauty of the sport right, like the wrongness
of it. Anthony, we were like ten years old. We'd
wait for those highlight things and we get in full
(02:13:26):
pads at ten twelve years old and kids in high school.
That's awesome, that's fantastic. All right, Quickly, what was the
other thing that you had that well, just left politics.
Don't don't make it so much about you don't have
to remove it. I get their social issues that are important.
I get that, but just tone it down a little
bit more and then insert a little bit more history. Derek,
(02:13:49):
I think it's awesome, great call as always, rather thank
you appreciate it. Day. Uh, you know, it's there is
something that is is you know, the poetic about that sport,
Like you know, when you have the backdrop of a
full stadium of people, the rowdness of weather, right, and
then you have these dudes and and pads, right, and
(02:14:16):
some of the things that they think and just do,
it's amazing. You know. It was funny because I I'm
why Lamar Jackson's incredible, right, like just an incredible athlete
and some of the things he does amazing. But but
I had to laugh a little bit because he talked
about being even being protected even more. And he's like, like,
I don't want you know, I don't want to be
(02:14:37):
bogged down by pads. You know, it is a physical game.
Like you can't completely take out the physicality of it
and make it flag football, which is what Lamar was
talking about. Like, you don't want to completely take away
the Like I get you don't want to be slowed
(02:14:58):
down by you know, pads, But dude, like that's part
of the game. Man, interesting stuff. All Right, we're to
come back and uh, we're gonna take a listen to
Brad big the big Brain on Brad is gonna give
us some winners for the weekend. We'll get you a set.
We'll go through all the games, uh, college, NFL baseball playoffs.
(02:15:22):
That's all coming up next. The fellas right here on Fox.
All right, welcome back, Fast Loves Psycho, Chris Nikki. We
have be fen Now we got the ill and now
joining us. This man, he's strong. You want winners, you
(02:15:46):
wanna partake. You gotta listen to the big Brain. Big
Brain is gonna come in and hash it out with me.
We'll suss out some winners. Big Brain on Brad at Fineberg,
Good morning, Big Brain, how are you this morning, my friend? Man? Oh,
he's great. Yes, yours as well. It's a great saturday.
(02:16:11):
It's a Fox Football Saturday, Dude, I love it better
than that. And we got baseball as well. It's a
great weekend. I'm I'm super excited for it. A lot
of a lot of great stuff going on. You're right
in the baseball again, some terrific things. I can't wait
to discuss all of it with you today. All right,
let's begin with college football Red River shootout Oklahoma Texas. Uh,
(02:16:34):
it's a great game, man, it looks like Texas is
almost back. They're getting close Olkahoma's five and oh but
not it's not a grade five? And oh there are
three and an point? Favorite? Were you looking at, big brain?
You know, if Oklahoma's a team before, I always say,
(02:16:55):
would rather be consistent or would I rather be right?
I'd rather be right than be consistent. Before the year
I thought Oklahoma actually at they were might pick him
in the National Championship. I'm not gonna lie to you
they were. I really thought, um bringing back what they
brought back from last year's roster, which was a really
good Oklahoma team. I know you were not as high
on the quarterback. I know me and you spoke about it.
(02:17:16):
You were not as high on him as the masses.
It looks like you turned out to be correct. He
seems to be uh legitimately overrated. This Oklahoma team just
hasn't It's been weekend week out after me. They just
haven't looked the part of what you would expect and
to look at. Now. I knew Texas isn't great. I
get it, but look, I'll be honest, I thought this
long ship in Oklahoma closer minus two, you're getting over
(02:17:38):
a field goal in it sort of me the only
way I'm looking here as Texas, I think they have
a good chance to win the game out right, as
long as that line above three, I'm definitely on the
Texas side. Wow, I like it. How come Horns? Yeah? Yeah,
I mean rattler. You know what I think last year's
problem it was it was too disjointed with COVID. It
was hard to tell who was good who wasn't. Besides
(02:18:00):
just the uh, the haphazard schedule right with everybody, it
also her practice team to her player development. It really
had a huge effect that you really couldn't get a
read off the last year's season. You know, listen, that's
a really good point for you. Uh and it actually
(02:18:21):
makes a lot of sense, you know, because a lot
of things last year we're totally knew and things that
we hadn't had to deal with because of you know,
new circumstances, and that certainly probably did make things look
maybe like the way they weren't or things were, you know,
not the way they have been this year for sure.
So I thought that Matt Corrall would move the ball
against Alabama. He did not. There was the the okay
(02:18:48):
Carrel was shooting blanks last week. Now they come back.
They got Arkansas, a team that struggles to score. They're
laying five. I'm curious where you look at this games?
Two games are we like this week? It's one of
the two games, Like I'm gonna take the favorite here.
And I will say this, there's some opposition from a
couple of sharp handicappers where I respect they're on the
(02:19:08):
Arkansas side, not me. Um. Look, I'll be honest. I
think Arkansas is living off that Texas and m victory.
And let's be honest, Texas and m uh, look, they
were projected top seven team. I get it, but I'm
going by what they are and not what they're rejected
to be. Texas M and me has been vastly overrated.
They've been just putret on offense all year. They lose
(02:19:28):
last week again at them. Look, I just don't think
they're that good. And you know, Arkansas that was their
kind of signature win. Up. They did have a nice
one over Texas as well. But look for me, I
know Old Miss is going to score in this one.
I I don't think it. I know Old Miss is
going to score ken Arkansas keep up. I'm gonna dare
them too. I don't think they have the offense, in
(02:19:48):
my opinion, to keep up with the Mississippi team where yet,
look last week against Alabama. Maybe the stage is a
little too bright or whatever, I get it. But I
still think Old Miss is actually for real. I think
Alabama is just a really good team and it was
one of those nights, and I expect on Miss to
win this one by double digits. I really do. Yeah,
I agree with you. I think it's a sharp pick. Uh.
Speaking of the Georgia Georgia Auburn, great game, Georgia man fifteen,
(02:20:17):
I know you've been bullish on the Bulldogs. You like
him today, I don't. And listen, Anthony, I am bullish
on the Bulldogs. You're right, and again I bet numbers
not teams. Let me always stress that. Um, Look, the
tax is finally caught up in my opinion. Okay, I've
taken Georgia every week and I've won every week. But
now and again, in my opinion, it's and the taxes
(02:20:40):
finally caught up where you really have to pay to
take them. Look, last week they were laying the same
price at home to Arkansas. Now they're going on the
road to where I think is a better team than Arkansas.
I think Auburn's better and miss games on the road.
To me, this is a far harder game, far harder
and the laying the same price. Look if this I
(02:21:01):
made this line closer to fourteen, So since it's over fourteen,
I have to lean towards the home team Auburn. Here,
Bonnix actually finally had a cook game. Um and maybe again,
maybe he could do something a little bit. Obviously they're
struggle and score against a wonderful Georgia defense. But I
think Auburn can keep this one somewhat close. I'm sure
(02:21:22):
Georgia is are gonna win the game. I think they
wouldn't be about between ten and fourteen. My lean he
would be towards Auburn, all right, I agree, I kinda.
I like what you said about the tax man. That's
that's second level thinking right there. Uh, the jewel of
the day, and it's here on Fox at four pm Eastern,
one pm Pacific from Iowa City. Three verses four Penn
(02:21:47):
State and Clifford against Petris and the Hawk Eyes. What
are you thinking? Man? Is a great game. It is
a great game. But I will tell you, and it's
funny like to me, these teams are kind of versions
of each other, right, you know, But I don't think
you teams are only a great team. I really only
neither teams even close to a great team, quite honestly.
And to me, these teams could loose the twentieth best
(02:22:08):
team in the nation very easily. But it is three
versus for it is an exciting game. I'm looking forward
to watching it. I really like Iowa here, Anthony, and
I'll tell you why. Look, I thought this line should
be closer to between around three and a half. To me,
I has been the more impressive team for sure. Again,
let's look at Penn State their quote unquote Bell cal Winn,
who was against Wisconsin. Who the heck is Wisconsin this year? Honestly?
(02:22:32):
Are they even better than Temple? I'm exaggerating a little bit,
but Wisconsin has been as who gazzy, as who gays
he gets and because they got outplayed badly by Wisconsin
and somehow want to I won't call it a marcl game,
but they got fortunate to win. Da've been living high
off that win and getting, in my opinion, far too
much credit. They did be the solid Auburn team plate
I had Penn State that week, but that game went
(02:22:53):
down the last play Aubin got to the two yard
line didn't score. Um, look I what I mean. It's
just been the more impress the team. And last week's
win against Maryland and Meat. Look see what you want
to say. I thought that was a great performance to
win that game. Fifty it was fifty one the fourteen
or something like that. I thought this line deserves be
minimum three. I don't understand all the Penn State love here.
(02:23:14):
I think I has been the better team at home,
true home to advantage. I think I would win this
one by about a touchdown. Oh wow, Blacksburgh tonight, Votech
Notre Dame on the the lights. It's a pick your
nose good game. What are you looking at? You know?
And I just like the spot here for Votech. It's
(02:23:34):
it's this is again, and I know this is what
you're really good at. You you understand, all games are
not held equal. It's not just the matchups and those
are just the spot the situation. Look nore Dame last week,
that was there, you know, right there is one of
the biggest games the year. They're at home. They just
come off the big Wisconsin game. Uh now you know
they get absolutely destroyed by Cincinnati. Now they have to
(02:23:56):
trying to travel to Blacksburg being deflated against the look
for Tech team. They're gonna be up for this game.
This is gonna be there there, you know, right there
he saw them Ruth Toronto game opening week. How the
crowd was that. You're gonna get that kind of crowd again.
I think these teams are Look, I think the rating
of this game is about the same, like I thought
Votech would be about a one point favorite. Don't think
it's a bad number, per se based on my my
(02:24:18):
my power ratings. But I just like the situation here
for Botech. I think this is gonna be like one
of their role kind of games. The crowd they probably
get never get Notre Dame in that's going to be
a huge, huge experience, a great crowd. And I just
don't think There Dame is that good and I think
that uh motivationally, I just like this game for Virginia Tech.
I don't think either teams that good. Quite honestly, I
(02:24:39):
think votech pulls out a close one. I could totally
see that, totally on board with that. Anything else strike
a fancy tonight in college and all the games you're
looking at. I like the people a thing. I like
the I like over fifty five and a half the
Navy SMU. Here's why. First of all, SMU scoring forty
three points a game. Okay, their offense has been from
(02:25:00):
and this Navy fired their offensive coordinator, so instead of
having three plays a game, they now four plays a game.
All they do is run the ball. But I'm obviously
choking a little bit. But since they fired their offensive coordinator,
you know, they've actually looked a lot better on offense.
And actually one last week great win against you know
Central Florida. Um. Look, the last six times these teams
have played the average around eighty points a game. Last
(02:25:22):
week there was last year was fifty one thirty seven. UM.
I like the way SMUs really playing, especially on offense.
I thought this over under should be in the sixties.
I've been over fifty five and a half. I like it. Man,
very good. I sit tight because we're going to tackle
the big boys coming up. But first we have to
go to the lord of trendings, the one, the only.
(02:25:44):
I hello, speaking to the big boys. Good morning, Anthony,
what do you say trying to fight through it? I
made a tactical ra today and I forgot my thermis
of coffee. It's sitting hoplessly on the counter at home.
Oh that's the worst. It is the worst. How do
we make it through the day, Anthony? Don't you know what?
(02:26:07):
I just listen to the Dulca tones of Anthony Gargano
and somehow I know it's going to be okay. Speaking
of Dulcin tones, will have more of those coming up,
because in Game one of the Nationally Division Series Friday night,
the Giants delivered a pocket full of posies against the
defending world champion Dodgers buster hits a flyball deep the
(02:26:28):
right field. Fight back there, what a free count? Buster
Posey sends one of the opposite field too to nothing.
Giants knows the dulca tones of Hall of Famer John
miller On can be ourtastic. He's so good, you know,
miss him on the national broadcast for so many years.
(02:26:50):
But it's great. It's a great treat for Giants fans
to be able to listen to him there. They have
a very strong signal. We can actually hear them down
in Los Angeles. The conditions are just right, so that's
pretty cool. They go on to win at Ford and nothing.
Giants pitcher Logan Web ten strikeouts in seven scoreless innings.
In Game two of the American League Division Series, the
Boston Red Sox what at Tampa Bay fourteen to six,
(02:27:13):
tying their series at one winnipiece. The Red Sox with
a franchise postseason record five home runs. They had twenty hits,
five by Key k Hernandez, including a home run in
three doubles. College football, on Friday Night, number twenty two,
Arizona State defeated Stanford ten fifth ranks Cincinnati winning over
Temple fifty two to three, Desmond Ritter three touchdown passes,
(02:27:34):
Jerome Ford ran for a career high one nine with
two touchdowns, Cincinnati five and oh they won twenty three
in a row at home. Finally, we circle back to
baseball and Anthony, it's time for one last ride before
put it in hibernation for the winner. We take you
back to Sunday and one last jam master Jam of
(02:27:58):
the week for one swung on and line up the
middle at the Chrow home is not in time, call
game over. Yankees win, Yankees when and go to the playoffs.
It was a hotshot up the middle that actually tore
(02:28:20):
off Kittridge's club racing it in to pick it up
was loud. He threw home late Wade scores and the
Yankees win, won nothing to go to the playoffs. Wow, wow, indeed,
and we thank him for all his entertainments and chuckles throughout. Anthony,
(02:28:41):
back to you, well said, I low, well said the
lot of trendings. I low the big brain on Brad
here to get us through the NFL. Here we go Eagles, Panthers, Jets, Falcons, Packers, Bangles.
All early games. Uh you got some good good later
(02:29:02):
ones Brown's charges Giants, Cowboys nine his Cardinals, but the
Jewel the game the day it takes place at night,
Bill's chiefs over under on the thousand, Brad, what side
are we on here? Who wots in? And Anthony? This
is this is why I like the talking. And I
bet numbers not teams to look ahead. Line in this
(02:29:24):
game was Kansas City by three and a half. I
bet Buffalo the line, you know, before the game the
line came out, the line was two and a half.
I bet Kansas City, giving myself a middle of three,
which is a very profitable middle at two and a half.
The only way I can look here is the Kansas
City side and think. And I made this line of
street three to me at the half point off. Look,
(02:29:44):
I understand that Kansas City is just really their defense
Anthony has looked so so so bad. I get it,
I do. And I'm sure Buffalo is gonna have a
lot of success. I don't doubt that at all. But
Kansas City's offense has bis bad as their defense has
me and they still basically score because that and uh,
and they're at home. I'm expecting a you know, really
(02:30:04):
rocous home crowd. Look, they lost two games you know already.
And they lost out one am against Bottomore, which they
never should have lost. Um, I think Buffalo maybe getting
a little bit too much love here. Again, Let's look
what they've done. They lost the horrible game in Pittsburgh
and their quote unquote, you know, they beat Washington, who
has been very disappointing. They beat Houston has been very disappointing.
To beat Miami has been very disappointing. While I do
(02:30:26):
like Buffalo as a team, I think they are for real, Anthony,
I think they're mayna beginning a little bit too much respect.
And look at this team. They played good teams, you know.
They they had to beat Cleveland, who's really good. Um,
they lost to a really good Chargers team. They lost
a good Baltimore team. So just because of the toughness
of the schedule, of the hardness of that UM, I
thought the line should be at least, you know, around three,
(02:30:47):
I like him sitting here to win this one. Yeah too,
you'd think a public dog, you know, a public dog
never boks. That's an old saying. It is an old
saying for sure. Alright, Uh, let's keep going early games. Curious,
see what you think about I love I love the
(02:31:08):
Bengals catching three against green Bay and he and he
thought on this one anything, Look, I'll be honest, No,
not really. Look, I thought the flne should be three.
It is three. I would lean if anything towards the
green Bay side. I think green Bay does win this one.
I'll tell you a prompt, though, I bet in this game,
which you think has spectacular value? Um, I bet Aaron Rodgers.
(02:31:31):
I guess heard of it? Really? Just is that easy?
Aaron Rodgers over one and ma half passing touchdowns Anthony's
best games twenty two and three to over one malf
passing touchdowns. Do I think I should be laying minus
eight hundred? No, but I think it's been least minus
three hundred, laying minus huge outstanding, very profitable back there.
That's all I'm looking to play. This game? Interesting, very good. Um,
(02:31:55):
how about Broncos and Steelers. I like Pittsburgh. I'm curious
where you're at. You know, it's interesting And if Drew
Lock had played, I would have loved, not like love
Pittsburgh because look they showed last week without Teddy Bridgewater.
Not that Teddy Bridgewater is any Hall of Fame or
he's clearly just a mediocre quarterback. But he is that
(02:32:16):
what I just said, he's mediocre. Drewlock is bad. Uh. Now,
from what I understand Teddy Bridgewater is going to play.
That being said, I'm still on the Pittsburgh side, but gosh,
if you see that Drew Lock is gonna play, Pittsburgh
will be one of my best biggest bets of the week.
I still think Pittsburgh does win this one even with Bridgewater.
But if Bridgewater is out, I love Pittsburgh, you know,
(02:32:37):
I like, you're gonna laugh at me and you're gonna
say you're you're wat some Jaguars this week catching four
and a half against the Titans and the bad on line,
the bad defense. I know, there all this stuff over
the creek, but coach Creep, but I I gotta tell you,
(02:33:00):
I think the jacka creep. Uh anthy. I Look, I
can't go out anymore because every time I go out,
there's twenty five year old woman who you know come
over me, you know, so I can relate to what
kach Meyer goes through. But yeah, look that's that was obviously. Look,
I agree, the only saw him on here is to Jacksonville.
Saw I look, you know, to me, Kennessee, I mean, gosh,
(02:33:24):
you know they they really look like they have some
real weaknesses in my opinion, A lot of props in
this game. I do like it. Again, I do like
the Jacksonville side. But I took Trevor Lawrence over eighteen
rushing yards. He's been they've been using him finally in
that situation, which they should have been doing it the
way beginning. James Robinson over fifteen nine and a half
rushing yards. If we have twelve games, Anthony's averaging anti
rushing yards a game and he's going over that nine
(02:33:45):
and twelve times. Really like that. And A J. Brown
coming off being off injured last week, No Julio Jones
his last sixteen games, Anthony's averaging seventy one yards. Again,
they meet us over under fifteen a half. I think
that's too light. I think A J. Brown goes over
fifteen half re seasons. Wow. Alright, uh, Carolina and the
(02:34:05):
Eagles in the curious what you think of that game?
You know, it's interesting my my numbers made this line
three when it was three and a half and four.
I really did like Philly. A lot of sharp money,
A lot of sharp money. One of the sharp biggest
player of the week has been on Philadelphia. Look up
my numbers. Make this about three. This is more, I'll
be honest, Just like a field that I have, I
(02:34:28):
think Philadelphia wants this one out right. Um, I think
they've shown at least some spunk um and I think
that you know, this is a matchup where it makes
me a lower scoring game, But I think they could
do just enough to be the Carolina team that doesn't
look like McCaffrey's gonna play now. Initially there was some optimism.
I read some reports that he'd been practicing and he
(02:34:48):
was potentially gonna play. Now it looks like he's not
going to play from what I understand, Um, I'm not
if you seem differently, yeah, so to me again, the
only way I can look here is the Philadelphia side.
I think Donald will really look good and been improved. Um,
I think hurt some company find a way to win
this one out right. Actually, I think Philadelphia wins a
close one here real quick, cause I know we get
(02:35:08):
a couple of baseball games. You get to Brownson Chargers
is a great one. I love the Chargers. Am I
off base or no? I think that's Look, that's my
best NFL game in the week. Look, I look, I
really respect Cleveland quite a bit, but I think the
Chargers are phenomenal. Now, it's amazing. They're gonna play seventeen
road games this year, and you know what, they're gonna
win eleven or twelve of them. In my opinion, I
(02:35:29):
think they're a terrific team. Again, this is one of
their I gets easier road games and that it's technically
a home game, but they every game they play is
it's hard when in that situation. By I think Herbert
is magnificent um to me, again, last week we had
they're similar spread against Minnesota. To me, the charge of
are far better team to Minnesota. I'd like the charges
(02:35:51):
her to win this one by you know, a touchdowner.
So I think they're just a tremendous team that's still
being underrated in the market. I like the Cowboys lane
seven against the Giants. You agree. I like the Cowboys
laying one in the teaser against the Giants, Anthony, That's
how I would attack that game. To me, i'd be
very surprised if the Zarians to win the game. I
agree with you, but instead of laying seven I prefer
(02:36:12):
to tease it down to laying one. A lot of
games you can tease it with. And that's how I
like that game because to me, again, I do not
think the Giants win that game. Dallas has actually played
quite well. And in the futures market, Dallas at twenty
to one to win the Super Bowl is probably my
favorite futures that or ten to one win the NFC,
and that I think Dallas, Tampa Bay, Green Bay, Arizona,
the Rams are all very very very close. I think
(02:36:34):
you could throw us on umbrella overall of them and
shake it up and any of those teams can come out.
I think the line on Dallas most of those other
teams are closer to five to one, four to one
when the NFC, I think Dallas is in that category
you made disagree. I'd like Dallas as a future and
els like them when it's to forty to win the vision.
That just puilding coach value. All right, any game we
miss NFL that you like quickly, No, And that was basical. Look,
(02:36:56):
those were the games you know, you you touched from
a lot of the games I liked, and you know,
and I do like Tom Brady under three and a
half passing yards. I'm sorry. Under three rushing yards, Anthony,
he is thirty seven and thirteen. This last fifty fifteen
and five is last twenty winning bet. I know it's
an obscure bet, but also he get have five rushing
yards and he goes negative one, negative one, negative one,
(02:37:17):
take three at the end of the game. Under three
and a half rushing ard for Tom Brady and outstanding
problem alright, baseball, big brain Dodgers Giants tonight, Uh, Giants?
Impressive last night, Webb was it was incredible, son of
Web Gems. He gave you one last night. Youry is
(02:37:39):
against Gossman. I mean, I like the Dodgers, but I'm
curious where your head's at. Yeah, look and think that's
the only way I'm looking here. Like the Dodgers to
me are the best team in you know right there,
I like Devin Milwaukee is the two best teams in baseball.
They look. Web has been terrific. Okay, Bueler had to
(02:37:59):
gut it out straight. He didn't have his best stuff.
From writing the first inning, I could tell he just
didn't have his his A stuff. Um, look, I like
Urius to win this one surround, right, around to pick
him and to meet Gossman. That's interesting. He started out Anthony.
He had a great year, let me make that clear,
a great year. But Anthony, he really his last like
two months or so, he's just been decent. He's not
(02:38:19):
been the dominant starter we saw at the beginning of
the year. Uh Urius led to major leagues and wins.
I'd be surprised if the Doctors don't win this one.
I'll take the Doctors all day here, all right, and
tomorrow we got to the American League. Looks like Strokes,
you're gonna take care of the White Sox. And we
got Tampa Boston. Theo Valdi picture for Boston curious because
(02:38:44):
the Boston Bats came alive. How do you see those
two games? You know, it's interesting. Look, I I really, Anthony.
I liked Tampa Bay to win that series. That was
a series that I thought very confident Tampa Bay. And
one of the rain reasons was their bullpen before did
bullpen let them down? Yesterday? I was shocked to see that.
I really really was. Um. Now, the one picture that
(02:39:06):
they that Boston has who I like, and really do
mean the one picture um is the of Aldi. I
have not seen who Kemp Bay is going with yet.
This is, in my opinion of the this is the
hardest game for Campa Beta win because he have already
has been the clear number one starter for Boston all year.
My name would probably be believing or not to the
Boston side, just because you have already is the one
(02:39:28):
pitcher has been good all year for them. And I
will say this Anthony game, I want to touch on
real quick, Max Shred versus Brandon Woodruff. You know, look,
I I think Milwaukee's gonna sweep Atlanta. I just think
that they have just such much better pitching. Atlanta is
a very good team. I give them credit, but I
just don't think they match up well with Milwaukee. I
(02:39:49):
don't think they get a game. And I think very
very late. It was a tough team. Charlie one pitch
really well. Charlie Morton's really good. Look, I think it
ran as a good team. I mean they are a
good team, but I just Milwaukee is a little bit better.
And look, there's a proper a couple of props in
this game with me, which I love, which there's insane value.
Brandon Woodrup over five and strikeouts twenty two and eight
(02:40:11):
to that over for me again, just set this stuff.
I'm giving you gold. And then the other thing is
Max Freed four and a half strikeout, He's sixteen and
two to the over his last eighteen sixteen into Matt
Trees and pitching really well. Look, I think the Brewers
win this one. I think the line is too short, um,
but again I think the props are gold in my opinion.
(02:40:34):
Worst case you go one and one. I think you
go to and I love both those. Brad, great, stop,
my brother, that big brain. Have a great weekend and
enjoy all the sports. I know it will be profitable
for you. We hopefully good luck guys, appreciate it. Take care,
all right, we'll come back the one more segment hang
where the fellas right here on Fox sports Fellas, What
(02:41:01):
a sports day today? Man? How about its psycho? Chris
like it? Man? Especially when we're getting all these top
ten matchups in college football? What's your top three events?
That of all there's all kinds of games, right, you
got four baseball playoff games, you got the whole card
(02:41:22):
of college football, a whole card of the NFL. Right,
if we had to pick the three best things to watch,
so Bill's Chiefs gotta be number one, right, Bill's Chiefs
is definitely up there. Um, I'm trying to think which
of those baseball games I really want to see. Probably
Dodgers Giants. Hard to miss that. And then I'm gonna
(02:41:42):
go Iowa, Penn States. I think that's uh where the
where the where your Saturday is gonna be. Yeah, that
Iowa City. What a great setting, right it is. That's
going to be a fascinating game because you're gonna want
to see. And I think Brad said it, well, those
two teams mirror each other, and he likes I in
(02:42:04):
the game. I don't know, I mean, I trust me.
I don't have a tough time getting to read because
I thought the win against Auburn was was impressive for
Penn State. Yea, they are No, You're right, and and
you know and and look the game was played in
a white out and happy valley, and like Brad said,
(02:42:27):
it came down to the last possession. Auburn gets to
the two is going to go in the going and score.
So I agree, I do like the way I would
you ever text? I was Sam, he's in here right now,
he's right behind me, is he really who as I was, Sam, Like,
(02:42:47):
I'm pretty sure I was. Sam likes Iowa, all right, yeah, yeah,
I love it. That's fabulous. Yeah, it's gonna be that's
a great football game, great night of football too, and
then of course tomorrow is gonna be awesome and all
the baseball well everybody lots of fun as always, man,
(02:43:09):
we love hanging out. We have a great weekend, enjoy
the games. We love the sc Later
