Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radios living the dream once
again on another fabulous NFL Sunday. It is Fox Sports
Red Zone Radio. Hartmann and Orne Burger with you together
in our Fox Sports Radio studios. A little bit of
a change on this Sunday morning, because we already got
one game in the books, the Atlanta Falcons defeating the
(00:21):
Jets by the score of twenty seven to twenty. We'll
give you some numbers here. Matt Ryan big day, thirty
three or forty forty two yards who touchdowns, no picks,
and Kyle Pitts, the fourth overall pick in the draft.
They finally figured out he's actually in the Falcons uniform.
Nine catches hundred nineteen yards a touchdown. He's a super talent.
(00:43):
And finally they discovered, wow, how would we throw him
the ball? That would be a good deal. So the
Jets fall and the Falcons rise and Falcons over the Jets. Men.
Instead of nine games this morning, Rich, we have eight games.
Doesn't make it any less. I mean, we a lot
of eyes on a lot of games right now. Let's
run down the list of games that are being kickoff
(01:04):
right now. Packers on the road against the Bengals, Lions
at the Vikings, Broncos at the Steelers, Dolphins at the Buccaneers,
Saints at the Football Team, Eagles at the Panthers, Titans
at the Jaguars, and the Patriots at the Texans. So
some of the early games are keeping an eye on, uh,
this Packers Bengals game, all of two teams that are
(01:25):
three and one on the season. We expected the Packers
to be there, we met, didn't necessarily expect the Bengals
to be right there. And you know, this is a
home game for Cincinnati, Rich and I get a sense
that this is going to be sort of the truth
teller and just how legit the Bengals are sitting at
three in one right now. I believe there's a lot
of truth to what you just said. I I think
(01:45):
Cincinnati is one of those teams who have they really beat, right,
you know, It's just it's we've had a couple of those,
and a couple of them have gotten found out Denver
most recently. You know, if you don't play a tough schedule,
or if you have a really soft schedule, to say
it differently, and then you finally face the team like
Green Bay who's got a real quarterback, who's got real
(02:05):
weapons offensively, who's got a defense that can put pressure
on the quarterback. Uh, this is gonna be a huge test.
And and by the way, the Bengals, the fans have
shown up to support the team. They're excited about Joe
Burrow off the injury season, his rookie year last year.
He's playing like he hasn't missed the steps since L
s U and uh. And they sold out the stadium,
(02:28):
So this is gonna be a lively environment. All right,
actors had the ball first and they just rattled off
a twenty yard run or fifteen yard run right off
the bat. So, uh, this is a game also for
a green Day after that embarrassing opening loss of the Saints,
they've won three in a row. You get a sense now.
And I've always felt about Aaron Rodgers very much like
Tom Brady, about that perpetual chip on your shoulder. I mean,
(02:50):
Brady's been working off that six round draft pick his
whole career. Same thing with Aaron Rodgers, sitting in that
green room waiting for his name to be called, thought
he might be the number one overall pick. He d
drop drop and the adversity that the Packers had week one.
I mean, it looked like a team that just did
not show up. But they've shown up the last three
(03:10):
weeks for victory. So I get a sense white now
Aaron Rodgers got that chip on his shoulder again to
prove something, and that's when we see the best of
Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers wants everybody to know how great
he is. And I think, uh, I think the unfortunate
reality for Aaron is uh He's been surrounded at times
with a lot of injuries. He himself recently had a
(03:32):
couple of seasons where he was injured. That collar bone
situation twice got him and so it's difficult to watch,
you know, a Drew Brees or Tom Brady, your contemporary
steal the spotlight and have more success than you. And uh,
I think he this season, last season, he's trying to
remind everybody, like remember when everybody was saying I was
(03:53):
the most talented guy doing this at this position. He goes,
let me show you again why, And so that's what
we're seeing early this he's in certainly following an m
v P performance a year ago. Aaron Jones is just
eating up yards right now on the ground that you
are just driving through the Cincinnati defense. Another interesting game
obviously today, although on paper doesn't look like much of
a game, But it's the backstory on this game that's
(04:16):
got everyone intrigued. The Titans on the road against the Jaguars,
all hell is broken, Lonos. As far as Urban Myers
concerning you know Rich again, his indiscretions with this female
and his restaurant. That's a personal man. That's something he's
got to take up with his wife. The big thing
that just still gets to me is that he didn't
get on that flight back with his team. I I
(04:36):
you know, I talked to Jeff Schwartz yesterday. I'm trying
to find anybody who has any connection in the NFL.
Have you ever heard of a situation, especially after a loss,
where the coach did not get on the flight home
with the team. Not once in my career, and I've
never heard it. Not since I've been playing in the
National Football League, since I've been covering the National Football
League as a broadcaster, I've never heard of a head
(04:58):
coach not heading home with his team. Look, I've had
plenty of instances where head coach rally's the troops in
the locker room after a big road win and goes
see a Wednesday. But that doesn't mean that he's staying
in South Beach until in the second he gets back.
I mean coaches coaches normally, especially after a loss like that,
so you have an extra a few days to prepare
(05:19):
for your following. Most coaches what they do not only
are they flying back with their team, they're going straight
to the film room like they're they're they're like, all right,
we've lost nineteen a row. We're all in four, we're
getting close. Now let's figure out how to get this
first victory. They're grinding insteady His excuse was I needed
time with my grandkids. Well that's called the off season
for a coach. And I I don't know what he
(05:41):
was sold on what it was going to be to
be a head coach in the NFL. I know, making
twelve million dollars a year and giving coach total control
of a franchise was appealing to him. But the idea
that somehow it's less of a coaching job in the
NFL than it is in college. Yeah, you don't have
to do the recruiting aspect, but from a coaching and point,
you are expected to grind and grind and grind. It's
(06:05):
part of the job, and that's how you gain respect
from those players. NFL locker rooms are filled with hard men.
These are guys who have sacrificed a lot for the game,
have worked tremendously hard. And if you show any sort
of softness, if you show that you're not tough enough
to hack it, you will lose a locker room. And
(06:26):
that's what's happened in Jacksonville. I realized that the locker
room hasn't exactly turned around on him yet. But we
have a score. What's going on, Ryan, Yes, speaking of
the Jaguars, we have our first touchdown of the day.
Dan Arnold fumbled the ball, Elijah Molden takes it back
a touchdown for the Tennessee Titans. The Titans, let's ers
clapping on the sideline where one minute into the game
(06:48):
we're down seven nothings. Well he got he got an
early start on the long week after that loss to
Cincinnati on the road on Thursday. No, no, come on,
absolutely not literally apt practice. Okay, the Jacksonville Jaguars are
openly teasing their head coach yeah, you know. Okay, so
you see the video he's got this young woman grinding
(07:11):
in his lap. Yes, certainly you saw the reverse view
of that one. Yeah. Uh. Well so anyways, every single
time the Jacksonville Jaguars team comes up and they break
it down, they call that way. Everybody puts their hands.
It's like grind on three? What two three? Crime? Well
I would imagine right now what what ownership is trying
(07:33):
to figure out is can we get out of this contract?
Has he violated a morals clause or whatever they can find.
I mean, this would go to court big time, I
guarantee you. By the way, speaking of leaguer coaches, uh,
John Gruden Moore has come out not only did he
make derogatory racist comments about de Morris, Smith apparently took
(07:54):
shots at Roger Goodell. See that's a that's a different this.
You know, the the Jaguars situation as a team matter,
it really is. It's not an NFL matter, It's a
team matter. The Grooten thing is different. The Grouden thing
is a NFL situation. I know that. Mark Davis, the
owner of the Raiders, immediately came out with a statement
(08:15):
saying he disassociate himself with any of the comments he
made the smart play, but I can guarantee Mark Davis
is waiting for the NFL to take action. And now
that apparently there's now derogatory comments about the Commissioner, Roger Goodell,
they're leaking out. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the
NFL jumps in and said, John, give me give me
a little grood in here. Okay, I'm gonna I'll be
(08:37):
I'll be the commission right now. Hey, Hey, John, Roger,
how you doing? Man? That's good? That's going on. I's
going there, rod Well? What what? What? What am I reading?
What happened here? I mean, you don't like me or
what's going on here? You're a great guy, a tough guy. Look,
you know you you you shoot him straight? What do
you got from John? I'm telling you right now, we
(08:57):
we got a pr nightmare. Uh you know we we
we've sort of used you as a laughable good guy.
But you know the comments you made about Demorris Smith,
that that crossed the line. To be perfectly honest with you,
I don't even think there's a phone call that comes
his way. I think John might receive whatever way the
NFL decides to penalize him, whatever punitive action they take
(09:18):
is gonna be sent in a letter. He's not really
gonna be given an opportunity to defend himself here because
unfortunately for John, it's in writing. Yeah you know what
I mean. There's no second party who overheard a conversation,
there's no misinterpretation here, his words in writing from his
own email address. So we'll find out what shakes out.
But in a league that is taking care uh to
(09:42):
be way more inclusive than it ever has been, be
way more sensitive uh to these sort of racial uh situations,
I I think that this is that there could be
heavy handed actions. Part of it, of course, is when
he did this, he was no longer coach in the NFL.
He was full blown announcing the league. Maybe he just thought, look,
(10:02):
I'm never gonna coach again, so why do I worry
about it? And then he signs a tenure one million
dollar deal. I wonder if Mark Davis even asked abouty
By the way, John, these skeletons in the closet here,
anything I have to worry about bringing you back in
as an NFL head coach, because that's different than being
an announcer, I mean pretty much. You can do what
you want as an announcer, but as far as being
(10:22):
a coach in this league of working in the NFL,
that's anything out there. Nah, I'm good, I'm good. Uh.
Let's hear that early Titans touchdown in the shotgun. Lawrence
takes the snap, fields heat, steps up, throws, got it
complete at the thirty one losing the football is the
tight end. The Titans have picked it up with fired
(10:44):
to the twenty to the tan to the five to
the end zone. So some delayed gratification, but here it
is touchdown Titans w g F X one or four
point five Titans Radio network without the Titans taken early
suthing nothing lead. Also we got the Steelers on the board.
Throws it long down the right sideline, Johnson Hendy steps
(11:08):
inside to five head into the end side for the
Steelers touchdown a fifty yard bomb Bronklosburger to Johnson, the
third year man. From that is I Heart Media owned
w v E one or two point five FM and
w b g G. So the Steelers taken early seven
nothing lead over the Broncos. The Lions are on the
board first against the Vikings. They have a field goal.
(11:31):
Washington Football team of the three nothing lead over the
Saints Panthers early three nothing lead against the Eagles. Right
on the other side, we're gonna get preview of a
game coming up a little bit later on the only
undefeated team left in the NFL. That would be the
Arizona Cardinals hosting the San Francisco Forty Niners NFC West battle.
Fox analysts Mark Sanchez will join us coming up next.
(11:55):
Now back live to the studios of Fox Sports Radio.
This is Fox Red Zone Radio. The gift to James Robinson,
tries them at all lead fun of all night, cuts
down one yard touchdown run by James Robinson. This is
(12:18):
Fox Red Zone Radio, and we've got the place that
you may have missed, all right. That was w j
x l A M ten ten and FM ninety two
point five Jaguars Radio Network. Jags answer the Titans, sort of.
We got our first miss extra point of the day.
I didn't take long. Jack's hit the upright, So Tennessee
(12:40):
leads that game seven to six. Now it's time for
the NFL out Fox Focus all right, getting ready for
the only undefeated team left in the National Football League.
That would be the Arizona Cardinals as they host the
San Francisco forty Niners. Join us right now. He'll be
(13:02):
working the game for Fox. Fox analysts Mark Sanchez, Mark
Hartman here along with Orenburger. I gotta tell you, Rich,
every time I think of Mark Sanchez, always think about
the Super Bowl and oh seven, Victor Brick and I
were there. This is the Colts Bear Super Bowl and
Mark was at usc and he came up with his
mom to say hello to us. We were sitting there
(13:23):
at a broadcast table there in Miami. I don't know
if you remember that, Mark, but I certainly do. I
would always remember. I do, because this is funny. I
just asked Ryan when he called, to connect my phone
to the to the radio here and get me on air.
But I used to listen to you and Philly Billy
Um on the old Extra six, and my first Spanish
(13:47):
words that I didn't understand were great more my memory.
That's like every Friday night after Santam agreed to Catholic
high school games, watching Carson Palmer play, we turn on
you guys. They'd be talking about high school stuff, you guys.
(14:09):
I mean, my dad listened to religiously. So that's how
I know you guys. Well, you have a believer in
your talents here as well. I played against you Mark
in the Rose Bowl our senior years, and you absolutely
carved up that Penn State defense. I was standing on
the sideline. You just feasted on that cover three. Just
a lot of passes on the middle, heard us with
(14:30):
play action. I mean, this guy everybody knows he was
sensational and had a great long career as a result. Absolutely. Well,
market's great to talk to you today and and sort
of catch up on this eras I don't know what
kind of odds you could have gotten before the season
that the Arizona Cardinals will be the last undefeated team standing.
They demolished the Ramps. I mean they absolutely took them
apart in the game at so FI Stadium. So what
(14:52):
do you make of this Arizona team as they get
ready for the forty niners right now? Are Are they
as good as their record indicates? Well, Listen, we got
team in practice on Friday. It looked crisp man. A
lot of those Friday practices, whether teams are you know,
four no, oh and four, there's a little bit of
a lull. Maybe they're riding a little too high on
their confidence or down in the dumbst after losing some games.
(15:15):
I mean, this team just seems like they're right on schedule,
and they're on schedule, is off schedule because of Kyler
Murray and he's the ultimate eraser. And what I mean
is they get free runners. Defenses get free runners on
this kid all game long. And what's what's impressive to
me is he just avoids these guys. I mean, most
(15:36):
other quarterbacks that can't move like him or maybe Lamar Jackson.
You gotta be sure or pretty darn close in protection
up front, like you can't just allow free runners. And
what he's been able to do when defenses play the
right defense, they're in perfect position, there drops the right depth,
they're covering the correct man. He's able to just sidestep
(15:58):
a guy, extend to play and still pierced the defense
downfield with a deep stripe. I mean that is just
demoralizing to these defenses. And you saw last week in
the game against the Rams, the best pass rusher maybe
in the last decade, and Aaron Donald, I mean, he
was a non factor. They completely mitigated his rush and
Kyler Murray just ran around and made the defense look silly.
(16:19):
So it is. It is one impressive group to watch.
They remind me of the running Gun Sons with Mike
D'Antonio and Steve Nash. So it's it's it's awesome to watch.
You're gonna have fun with them today, Yeah, it really is.
Kyler is sensational in the pocket and outside the pocket.
The Cardinals offensive line has struggled, and like you, just
like you just outlined, he's really covered up a lot
(16:41):
of those struggles with injuries. So you got de fourd down,
you got Nick Boson. Now is he gonna be able
to neutralize the two of them? Because I think combined
they have something like seven or eight sacks. I mean,
they've really been getting after the past or early this season.
They sure having in these production meetings getting ready for
the game. I got to talk to a former teammate
of mind, Damiko Ryan. We're together in Philly and he's
(17:04):
taken over for Robert Salo in this as the defensive
coordinator for San Francisco, and he impressed upon me and
stressed to me that, hey man, we it's one thing
to get sacks. It's one thing to h rack up
numbers like that and hold the run game down and
all that. He's like, we need turnovers. Bottom line, we
need strip tacks, We need interceptions. We got a muddy
(17:24):
up the pocket just enough and confuse Kyler to the
point where we get our hands on the football. And
without that that, they're just making it difficult on their
offense to continually, you know, have ten to fifteen play
drives over and over and go back and forth with
seems like this that can score at will. So Um,
it's gonna be important for them to cause pressure up front,
(17:46):
to push the pocket, especially the interior of the pocket.
I wouldn't be surprised if Fred Warner or you know,
Drake Kirkpatrick, one of the other former Cardinals players is
on him as a spy, is on Kyler as a spy. Um. Yeah,
Nick Bosa and d Ford. Eric Arms said, those guys
up front really have to apply pressure and understand too.
This is the last thing he said to me. He said, Listen,
(18:08):
even when we play a perfect he's still gonna get
us a couple of times. We can't let that hurt
our confidence and shake us at all. We gotta be
ready for that, prepared, for that, move on to the
next play and get our hands on the football. What
should we expect of Trey Lance and his first NFL start?
You know? I asked coach and and about that, and
he said, I said, let me guess. You know, you
(18:30):
got every screen in the book, running back screens, halfback screens,
you know, tight end receiver screens, you got quick game,
you got quick boots and nakeds. Basically manufactured this kid
anywhere from ten fifteen completions, I'm assuming, And he goes, yeah,
you know, that's that's kind of what you think immediately
as a coordinator and as somebody who thinks like a quarterback.
(18:51):
He said, but sometimes that doesn't get everybody going. We
had a couple of easy ones last week and some
quick game stuff, and and Trade didn't really like he
did it okay, but he missed on a couple and
until he hit the deep play action strike to deep
both Samuel, that's when he felt like he was in
the game. So it doesn't work the same for every quarterback.
I wouldn't be shocked though, if they try and get
(19:13):
him out to a you know, three for three kind
of start in his completions and attempt ratio. I think
that's important to give him some confidence. And the other
thing too, is they're getting Elijah Mitchell back. They lost
moster game one of the season, but Elijah Mitchell. I mean,
he's a mini Mooster. This kid can really fly. So
as long as they're sound up front, I'd expect a
ton of different runs and they can run everything right
(19:34):
inside zone, outside zone, they run counter, they run trap,
they run everything, and don't forget I think this is
this is what's gonna really make or break them is
third down and when it's stain teams are throwing the
ball right around third and five. With Trey Lance, you
can run some of that quarterback power, quarterback counter. Don't
forget that. I think they could steal a couple third
(19:55):
downs on third and medium with his legs and that
will be huge to continue. Drop one the clock for
me back to your first start at quarterback. I think
you're on the road at Houston two thousand nine. I mean,
what what happens to you when you're finally handed the
ball for the first time at the NFL level? I mean,
is it a blur? Do you lose your legs? I mean,
(20:15):
what what is he going to be feeling when he
takes the field against the Cardinals. Uh, you know, that's
funny you say that. It is absolutely a blur. I
remember seeing my dad, my high school coach, on the sideline.
I remember seeing Joe Namas before the game, and I
was so excited to see all those people. I forgot
to go in and get taped. I didn't even tape
my ankles, and I realized that after the game as
(20:36):
I'm taking off my uniform, I was like, holy cow,
somebody forgot to tape my ankles. So I, uh, you know,
it's just one of those things you get so locked
into to what you're trying to do. But I got
a chance to throw my first touchdown path and Coach
Schottenheimer dialed up a great game plan. I did throw
a pick that led to a either a touchdown or
a field goal by Houston. I can't remember. But Rex
gave me such a hard time. He's like, man, we
(20:58):
had to shut out in the bag and he gave
him an easy one. So I remember that. But it's listen,
those third down conversions are so important, and I think,
I mean, we saw it on those third downs in
that game, and we converted a couple of third and
long on some easy plays, some spaens uh, some wide
receiver screens, Chancey Stucky and Jericho Catry. I mean those
(21:19):
those are the kind of plays that have to bail
out a rookie quarterback because he's gonna have some mistakes today.
It's inevitable. He's gonna miss a throw, he's gonna miss
a read, he's gonna miss a check. That's going to happen.
So now it's okay. How can these guys around him
rally and make up for some of those, you know,
rookie mistakes. Well, Mark, it's great to catch up, man,
Send all the best. Dear family, It's great to catch
(21:40):
up with you. And of course we'll be watching today
as the Cardinals look to go five and o taking
on the forty Niners, trade Lance making his NFL starting debut.
Great stuff, Mark, and we'll do it again sometime. Absolutely
sounds great. All right, Mark Sanchez joining us right there. Wow,
it seems like yesterday. I can still remember sitting there.
We're a little broadcast table, and this woman walks. I
(22:01):
recognized Mark. He was at us. He hadn't started yet
at usc uh, and his mom's came over. It was
very nice and that is my sun Mark. We're like, well,
nice to see him, Mark and everything else, And here
it is, all these years later. Now he's in the broadcast. Boots.
All right, so let's find out what's trending right now
before we get to all they actually happened around the NFL.
Who better to talk about it than Luke? Who's here?
(22:24):
David Gascon? Oh man, man, I'm just right. Every saw
him come in. That happened here like like a ghost.
I'm doing all right, I'm doing all right. I'm just
getting ready for Game three of the NLDS between the
Padres and No, there was no, no, no. They're looking
for another manager. As I said in San Diego during
the week, I don't understand what's the delay. Bruce boc
(22:47):
went on a Bay Area radio show this week and
they asked him, would you have any interest in the
Padres job? And he goes, well, no one's called me,
And I'm like, what are you waiting for? You got
a pr nightmare, Dan and San Diego right now could
be corrected if you bring in a future Hall of
Fame manager. It's the equivalent of Tony Larus in Chicago,
right he's younger than Dusty Baker, is younger than Tony Larusa,
(23:11):
So yeah, why not bring him back. It's like a
spring chicken. Yeah, he's a young guy. Young guy. You
have a couple of Division Series games later on today
that will of course, all of our attention is what's
going on in the National Football League. He hasn't mentioned
Atlanta overseas today against New York Jets. They won seven
and twenty. Aaron Rodgers was picked off in this ball game.
The Packers and the Bengals are going at it right
(23:32):
now from Cincinnati. Green Bay is a short favorite in
this one, but right now it is scoreless. Green Bay
currently right now is fourth down three for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Looks like they are going to go for Pittsburgh seven
and nothing over the Denver Broncos. But Ben Roethlisberger was sacked,
lost the football, and now Denver's lining up for a
few goal to make it a seven three advantage for Pittsburgh.
(23:53):
Me while Buccaneers and the Dolphins going at from Florida.
Of course from the chin dropping great drops the ball
clock one tossed out Travanni Bernard, great catch and want
to throw by Brady Tireland Cannons the Bucks League six three. Yeah,
but Miami's on the move seven and threes to score
in this one, three twenty to play in the game's
opening quarter, Tennessee's seven six over Jacksonville. Texans and Patriots
(24:17):
locked up at six six pending a pt because Damien
Harris just rumbled his way into the end zone for
a touchdown. Eagles and Panthers three three. That ballgame is
on Fox santh leading right now in Washington seven six
to score in that affair, and guys, that is it
for now. Man, I was hoping you didn't mention anything
about USC, Steve, because they should actually trade spots to
(24:39):
San Diego State. By the way, they should throw the
Mountain West con USC has lost three straight home games
in which they've been blown out when the colosseum is
empty at the end of the third quarter or whoever
was there has left, and then Oregon State lost to Washington.
It's Arizona State, though you know they've only got the
(25:01):
one loss right now, But yeah, it's another rough here
for the PAC twelve. All right, David, we'll check in
with you a little bit later on. We are here
at Fox Sports Red Zone Radio, and we got a
lot of things happening. We've also had to miss extra points. Now,
the Jags missed an extra point, as did the Texans.
It's amazing how bad teams seem to also have bad
kickers or whatever it's going on. Speaking of the Texans, though,
(25:22):
they did score a touchdown. Bro over the middle and
clock for a touchdown Houston and today I'll Claire with
the reception and the Texans get on the board first.
What a drive? Yeah, Sports Radio six, then Texans Radio Network.
The Patriots have tied the game, and they also missed
the extra point, so it's six six Patriots and Texans.
(25:47):
Both teams missed their extra point, so we're on a roll.
That's three extra points miss. Here was the Patriots touchdown
like a wildcat with Damian Harris waiting on the staff
or matters, he takes him. He run us to the
left at Harris to the collad and end bruising forward touchdown.
Patriots Nanny eight five. The Sports Hub and the Patriots
(26:08):
Radio network tied at six. Let me ask you about
your former team, The Patriots a city at one in three.
Right now, they're on the road against say bad Houston
Texans teams one in three. Everyone always talks about Belichick
going against rookie quarterbacks. Well, right now, Davis Mills for
Houston's after a pretty good start five and seven forty
four yards and a touchdown. Pass. If the Patriots were
(26:30):
to lose today and go to one in four and
lose to the Texans and Davis Mills kind of damage
are we talking about? Well, what's interesting about this rookie quarterback,
rookie starting quarterback record that Melichick has against these opponents
is the majority of those winds occurred at Foxborough. Yeah,
and he's never lost the game at home against the
(26:50):
rookie starting but on the road it's almost a five record,
which is interesting. Right, So Davis Mills is not Trevor Lawren. No, no,
he's not. He's not two. He's not even Geno Smith.
You know, we're not so sure who Davis Mills is.
But right now, like you mentioned, he's five of seven
forty four yards and a touchdown. And uh, here's the
(27:11):
thing about Mac Jones and the Patriots and just the
sort of game plan that they're gonna have moving forward offensively,
is you heard that touchdown call? It was wildcat. It
was a direct snap to Damian Harris. They're gonna have
to get creative in the red zone. He's a rookie too,
and he's had his struggles. You know, you were seeing
him have a hard time pump the ball down field.
(27:33):
This run game is somewhat anemic. They've had injuries, James White, Um,
you know, so you look at the Patriots offensively and
they have to already whatever it is, it's you know,
we're five games into the season, almost five full games
into the season. They're on the field now and and
you're you're having to reach deep into the bag to
pull out some tricks to get this offense moving in
(27:54):
certain cases. All Right, I want to ask you Pittsburgh
right now, the Steelers look, Mike Tomlin has never had
a losing record ever. In all these years as the
head coach of the Steelers, he has never had a
losing season. And after that miraculous second half comeback against
Buffalo and their opening game, the Steelers come into today's
game against the Broncos on a three game losing streak
(28:16):
and everyone's writing the obituary of Ben Roethlisberger. By the way,
he's off to good start now four for six eighty
two yards and a score. In fact, they just completed
another past there on the move again up seventh three.
In this game, he got Nagi Harris, who I love, uh,
the All American running back out of Alabama, savaging five
yards and carry. Seems off to a pretty good start.
Are we being a little premature in the death of
(28:38):
the Pittsburgh Steelers. Here's the problem with the Steelers is
we're gonna put a lot of the attention on Big Ben,
and to a certain extent, deservedly so. He's one of
the higher paid players on this team. He's been a
star in Pittsburgh for many, many years. He's a big
reason why they've had success over the years. But they
didn't rebuild this offensive line. They drafted the first round
(28:59):
rookie running back in Nagy Harrison, they got him no
help upfront, and then that affects Big Ben's game two. Now,
is he getting older? Shore? Is there a little little
off the fastball this year? Is it noticeable? Shore? But
if you surround Big Ben with an offensive line who
can protect him and open up holes in the run game,
I guarantee you this Pittsburgh offense would look better than
(29:22):
it has. By the way, the Bengals have just gotten
on the board with a touchdown, and talk about quarterbacks stats.
Listen to these stats right now, since a leading green
Bay seven and nothing, Joe Burrows nine twelve fifty two
yards just through a touchdown, passes some a G. P Rhyan. Meanwhile,
Aaron Rodgers is two for seven twenty yards and a pick.
(29:43):
So we were talking about this at the outside of
the show today about how legit are the Bengals sitting
at three and one. Will they get the early start
seven nothing lead over the Green Bay Packers And if
the Bengals win today, maybe we look at Cincinnati a
little bit different. In fact, we will. Meanwhile, the Dolphins
are on the board back to throw Brissette. Nice touchdown casket,
(30:10):
all right, So that's a M five sixty the Joe
w q a M Dolphins Radio Network. Dolphins have a
ten seven lead against the Buccaneers and Jacoby Bursette is
off to a hot start right now. He is eight
of ten nineteen yards and a touchdown. Tom Brady has
a touchdown pass for Tampa. Um. Tampa's lost to the
(30:31):
Rams was not pretty. Uh, they escaped on the road
against a subpar Patriots team at a late rally in
which Brady was you know, to me, that game almost one,
as I thought, because we mentioned Belichick knows Brady, he
knows his tendencies. He put some limitations on Brady deal.
But Brady was Brady, and he fouling our way to
(30:53):
win that game. Tampa does not look great right now.
I mean, I know they're sitting at three and one.
They had the opening went against the Cowboys by a
couple of points. Atlanta didn't offer much resistance. They look
bad against the Rams. They barely escaped against the Patriots.
What do your what's your read right now on the
defending Super Bowl champs? Well, you know, you know, I
(31:13):
feel differently. I actually think that the beginning of their
schedule has been pretty tough. I look at the route
they've navigated. The Cowboys are a good football team, so
they are now. Yes, the Cowboys were a good football
team Week one as well. In the opener. I mean
Dak Prescott, what he was doing on the football field
with that offense was able to do going toe to
toe with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the world champs on
(31:35):
the opener. That was impressive man, And yeah, I agree
with you. The Falcons offered very little, but the Rams
game was a war of physical war. They got kind
of mopped up in the scoreboard. But the Patriots another
physical war. That was a great defensive battle between two
very sound defenses. So I don't think they've had it
easy through the opening portion of their schedule here, and
(31:57):
they emerged three and one. That's a great start my opinion.
And it gets no easier because even though the Dolphins
have had some issues defensively, that's a team that can
hurt you. They can put a rush on. Brian Flores
is no dummy with how he orchestrates a defense. So
it's been a rocky road in terms of the opponents,
the caliber of opponents they faced them. There's still three
(32:18):
and one. I think that's pretty good. All right. Let's
hear the Bengals getting on the board first against Green
Bay in the shotgun first and goal from the four.
Bro extends the hands, catches the ball, looks to pass,
get buyers, touchdown. Bengal Bengals Radio Network seven nothing Bengals there?
How about this? The Texans have scored again against New
(32:39):
England sixties seven yard touchdown past Davis Mills to Chris Moore,
and they missed the first extra point. You thought, well,
maybe they go for two. No fair bearing came on,
missed again. We've had three touchdowns in this game and
they have missed the extra point on all three. I'm
curious this first time we've seen. I'm curious how often
(33:01):
that's happened in NFL history. They have missed all three
extra points in this game between the Texans and the Patriots.
It is twelve six Texans and Davis Mills looks like
a Hall of Famer against this Patriots defense. He's seven
of nine eighteen yards, two touchdowns, note picks. He has
a perfect passer rating of one fifty eight point three.
What happened here? Why can't they slow down Davis Mills? Well,
(33:23):
they they get that deep pass and I mean, look,
this is getting close to wat shouldn't say close to halftime,
still twelve minutes to play in the second quarter. But
the Patriots have to answer. You know, you don't want
to turn this into a situation where you're on the road.
You have Davis Mills, a rookie starting quarterback, inspire the
crowd to make it tough on your offense coming out
(33:44):
of the tunnel, So you better find a way to
answer here and quick otherwise this is gonna get ugly.
All right, we have much more rolling on just getting
started eight games around the NFL. We already had Atlanta
defeat the Jets earlier today. Keep it right here on

This is Fox Red Zone Radio. Mills takes the snap

the right sideline and cup by Chris Marta forty thirty
five thirty total fifty tip five look along touchdown Hill Stone.
(35:01):
This is Fox rad Zone Radio and we've got the
place that you may have missed. That was Sports Radio
six ten Texans Radio Network, Texans leading the Patriots twelve
to six, three touchdowns, three miss extra points, battle of
(35:22):
one and three teens. Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers are on
the board. Tremble Anderson to the left, third and goals.
Darnald Patchelor football wats fires left side, Tremble catches it
touchdown easy as you please, WBT and the Panthers Radio Network.
Panthers and early ten three lead over the Eagles. Got
(35:42):
a lot of scoring going on right now. Titans are
up fourteen of six over the Jaguars. Also, the Washington
football team up thirteen seven over the Saints. Dolphins and
Bucks are tied to ten. Steelers leading to the Broncos
ten three. Vikings over the line six three And I
see where the Packers of scored to even up their
game against the Bengals, or have they? I everyone's missing
(36:06):
extra points today, Uh, and I'm looking and yeah, Crosby
missed the extra point for green Bay. We got an
epidemic going out. We've been talking, we were joking about
this over the last couple of years, Like, when are
we gonna see our miss first missed extra point? What
is that? Four? Five? Ready? Five missed extra points already?
(36:28):
And we're in the first half of these games, early
first half. All right, let's hear the Washington football team
get on the board. It's like, I'll get it. That's
a pickhole up the middle and into the end zone. Touchdown,
touchdown Washington five yards skipper by it to get w
t e M the team I wanted to ask you
about this Washington football team. Saints game. Saints have been
(36:49):
all over the map. I mean, they looked unbelievable that
opening week against Green Bay. They look good in the
road victory against the Patriots. The other weeks they look bad.
Is Jamis Winston. The inconsistencies of Winston over the course
of his career now reflective on where the Saints are
at this point. Yeah, it's a little bit of a
roller coaster ride with Jamis Winston. I think that we're
(37:12):
going to see the ups and downs, not dissimilar to
a rookie quarterback. Right now, I'm not saying he's a rookie,
not by any stretch of imagination. I'm not saying he's
not talented. He was the first rounder for good reason.
Jameis Winston is a supremely talented athlete playing the quarterback position,
but is he consistent enough quarterback to take this Saints
(37:33):
team to the next level. So far in this game,
looking pretty good, although a mistake with the football. He's
already thrown an interception on the day, also has a touchdown.
So we'll see what it's like week eight, week nine,
I think that's when we can truly, uh start to
nail down whether or not he's gonna be good for
this team. But yeah, it's gonna be a roller coaster,
(37:53):
especially early on this season, times late in the Jaguars
fourteen to six. Course, this is Urban Myers first game
since the incident for the Jaguars, I want to ask
you about Tennessee though. This is another team that a
lot of people thought was going to be a prime
contentder Sitting at two and two, they've been very inconsistent
so far this season. On my radio show this week,
I had my my buddy Eric Dickerson still sitting there
(38:15):
with that single season record of two thousand, one hundred
five yards uh he did in a sixteen game season
broke O J's record. That was in a fourteen game season.
Now he has a seventeen game season. Derrick Henry, who
by the way, has a touchdown early in this game,
is this year he finally gets it done. You think
he's gonna finally pass that record with the extra game
of two thousand, one hundred five yards. Look, that's tough.
(38:39):
That's a lot of yards, averaging about a hundred and
forty yards a game. Yeah, and he's off to a
great start this year again as he normally is. Look,
Derrick Henry is the type player could have a two
hundred yard rushing day that offsets and makes it a
little bit easier. But staying healthy through seventeen game season
getting the ball that much offensively, I mean you also
(39:02):
got to in order to run the ball as much
as as that, you have to have the score, uh
be in your favor, especially latent game, and then you
can feed Henry the You had a couple overtime games,
so else. But I mean give you an idea. The
last three weeks he's had touches, one touches and thirty
five touches. That is a heavy load. Can you keep
(39:23):
carrying that load? Will find out. Here's what I I
my my thoughts on the Tennessee Titans, as they're letting
teams score too much on them. I mean, if you
look at what the Taguars just scored, by the way,
it's speak of the devil, you know, if you if
you look at what what's happened over the course of
their first four games. I mean this team. They gave
up twenty seven to the Jets in a loss, they
(39:44):
gave up thirty to the Seahawks on the road. They
gave up in their opener to the Cardinals almost four
forty points. I mean, this defense, which has been a
real strength of the Tennessee Titans since Rabel has taken over.
It's turned into a really offensive, reliant team, all right,
Jacob Hollister, a short touchdown pass from Trevor Lawrence's off
to a really good start eight of nine coming out
(40:06):
of the box. Meanwhile, this was Tennessee's latest score. If
Henry left side hole, yes, touchdown, Titans, no doubt he
finds it the U Lee Bulldozer and the Titans have
up be avaited. That's w g F X one or
(40:26):
four point five Titans Radio network. But the Jags answered
back jot gun for Trevor. They snapped tour Fires left
side ball is gonna be part for a touchdown in
the corner of the end zone. Touchdown Polistar with a
touchdown catch part Jackson w j x L A M
ten ten and FM two point five Jaguars Radio Network.
(40:47):
So the Titans leading the Jaguars fourteen the third teen,
just inside ten minutes ago in the first half in
that game. Yeah, Jackson mill is doing a good job
keeping the wheels on. I'm talking about the players in
spite of their head coach in the distractions and that
he's become to the locker room. You know. A credit
to Trevor Lawrence in this offensive. Credit to the defense
and the leadership on that side of the ball. They're
(41:08):
doing a good job in spite of some of the
things that have come out about the guy who's supposed
to lead the whole team. Buccaneers and the Dolphins are
tied ten ten right now. Vikings in a absolute snoozer
at home against the line six to three battle of
field goals so far in that game. We're just getting started, folks.

listen live snap Rogers looking left, swings it our left
side till under the fire turns up field of pood
and he's in for the score. Touchdown, Hey, Chase Tulling,
twelve yard touchdown passed from Aaron Rodgers. They Beef von
Bell and the Packers will been an extra point of
time a game that was the Packers radio network, there
(42:12):
would be no extra point because Crosby missed that extra point.
Buddy has just had a forty four yard field goal.
So the Packers have taken a nine seven lead on
the road against the Cincinnati Bengals. This is Fox Sports
Red Zone Radio, Hartman and Orne Burger with you eight
games going on, normally you have nine, but we already
have one of the books. As the Atlanta Falcons took
(42:33):
care of the Jets in London today twenty seven to twenty.
Big day for Matt Ryan thirty three of forty five
three and forty two yards two touchdowns, and they finally
discovered the guy they took with the fourth overall pick
in the NFL draft. That would be the tight end
call Pitts out of Florida. Huge day today, nine catches,
hundred nineteen yards and a score. Darrell Patterson had fifty
(42:55):
four yards rushing into this game. He'll said sixty yards
and receptions. So the Plkins moved to two and three
on the season and the Jets fall to one and four.
All right, busy days so far around the National Football League.
The Vikings of up their lead to thirteen to three
over the Detroit Lions. Were tam Bay Packers just got
on the board with another field goal. Mason Crosby kicks
(43:18):
it from forty four yards out. They lead nine seven
in Cincinnati. All right, let's go to a Saints highlight
bath to Jamis handoff up the middle, goes Alvin Camaro
breaks it ton five touchdown. Alvin Camara, he busted through
that hole and nothing but green and paint in front
of him. Pet Bambian phone. All right, So that's w
(43:40):
w L Saints Radio Network. This game is now tied
at thirteen, and that is because the missed extra point
again Saints missed one park he he missed what we've had?
What is that now? Six? Six missed extra points already
(44:01):
today we got a fourth and three in this Miami game. Uh,
they trail Tampa Bay ten in Tampa, and this is
gonna be an important score or I should say conversion
for Jacobe percent in this Miami offense against this Tampa
Bay defense. Another defense, by the way, who's been given
(44:22):
up a lot of points. We heard about how they
returned all their starters, how the pass rush against Patrick
Mahomes was the decider in the Super Bowl. And again,
I mean, is it just because the league has turned
into this offensive juggernaut. We gotta get used to every
team being able to score twenty four points every week? Alright,
So Buggets leave this game against the Dolphins seventeen ten,
(44:44):
nine minutes ago in the first halfen As you mentioned, Rich,
the Dolphins are near midfield right now against this team.
Mention the Vikings up thirteen three. One of the big
shockers for the Vikings this year, who are sitting at
one in three and not playing good. Not so much
their offense, which hasn't been great, but their defense. I mean,
this is Mike Zimmer's calling card is defense. And of
(45:06):
course it's always good to look defensively against the Detroit Lions,
who offer very little resistance. But what's going on in Minnesota.
How safe is Mike Zimmer's future? It's not safe. Look,
this is a bottom line league when it comes to
head coaches. You need to win football games. Otherwise they're
going to find somebody who they think ken and so
Mike Zimmer after turning in a disappointing season a year ago,
(45:28):
the Kirk Cousins contract hasn't really netted much. Uh deep
postseason runs. Uh time starting to run out. You know,
the hourglass is getting a little thin on the top half.
So he's got to turn this thing around. And you
mentioned defensively. I mean they've got some players around this defense,
Kendricks and Daniel Hunter. Uh, They've got the you know,
(45:49):
uh Smith on the back end. I mean, this is
a talented group. They need to play better defense overall together,
all right, we got a development going on with this
Houston New England want to get to uh first, because
another big pass play from Davis Mills has put the
Houston Texans at New England's four yard line. They just
(46:10):
got to the two minute warning. Texans already leading this
game twelve to six. Davis Mills, the rookie out of Stanford,
is twelve of sixteen, two hundred and one yards, two touchdowns,
no picks. He is carving up this Bill Belichick defense.
Right now? All right, where are we going next? Sam?
Let's go with the Vikings latest score pass up in
(46:31):
the middle of the Madison's caught up the ten Skins
up the line up the five. Alexander Hey fam Minneapolis
and the Vikings Radio network, Minnesota leading that game by
a score of thirteen to three. Pan Hell firing man
(46:53):
is wide open at the five and walking into the
end zone unencomforted. Prue touchdots they lost it w g
F X one or four point five Titans Radio network.
So the Titans having their way right now against this
Jacksonville defense. Titans lead this game by score. They've actually
hit all their extra points. We've had six miss extra points.
(47:17):
Is that possible? Crazy? What's going on with these extra
points today? But the Titans leading that game by scored.
Panthers leading the Eagles ten to three right now. Uh,
this was an interesting game to me because the Panthers defense,
which was so dynamic through the first three weeks, got
carved up by Dallas last week, proven again that the
(47:39):
Cowboys are absolutely for real. And let's go to David
Gascon right now, what's going on, David, guys, Joe Burrow
is on his back side after lunging for a first down.
He got decimated by two Green Bay Packers. They have
a trainer out there and they have isolated his upper
body area. That means head and neck area. Goodness, all right,
so right now, since then, Addie has a fourth and
(48:01):
three at their own forty seven yard line. But that
is not the story. There the welfare of their quarterback
Joe Burrow, who has played really well this season, uh,
and really developing his game today. Nothing great. Ten of fourteen,
just fifty nine yards, a touchdown and no picks. Uh.
Aaron Rodgers, by the way, eleven eighteen one twenty nine yards,
a touchdown and a pick. So holding their breath right
(48:23):
now to see the status of Joe Burrow and the Bengals.
By the way, I found this interesting. You got these
two coaches here, La Fleur and Taylor, disciples of Sean McVeigh.
That's right. They were on the coaching staff at mcveigh's
first year of the Rams together in twenty seventeen. Apparently
that's the route you go if you want to. And
(48:43):
look at Brandon Staley now with the Chargers, another guy
that worked under Sean McVeigh year, it goes defensive coordinating
and you got a La Flora New York under Robert
Salas the offensive coordinator. I mean there there are a
lot of uh. Look, I mean, this is how it works.
You go to the Super Bowl, you're coaching track starts
growing new branches. Joe Burrow is up, but he looks woozy.
Is what's happening right now? That was a fourth down play,
(49:06):
so they were sure they had a punning situation anyway.
Uh And with six oh five to go in the half,
it looks like they're gonna take Burrow in for observation.
But he looked he was standing, he was upright, but
he looked a little bit. It looked like they were
taking him to the tent for further evaluation. Jacksonville. The
interesting thing about this game against the Tennessee Titans, where
(49:27):
they trail thirteen to twenty one, Titans on top in
Jacksonville is the fact that right Now, if you look
at the rushing stats, the Jacksonville Jaguars have doubled up
on the Tennessee Titans. Derrick Henry rush ball for eleven carries.
He's got thirty one yards. James Robinson, look at this
Jacksonville Jaguars eleven carries for a hundred and one yard.
(49:48):
So they gotta get Henry going in this Tennessee Titans game.
But yeah, he Burrow. What happened was he got hit
low and then he got hit high and his helmet
slammed to the the turf, the side of his helmet.
Uh and so unfortunately not no, he's walking, but it
looks like he may have suffered some kind of having uh.
(50:10):
Played a heavy contact position like offensive line, one of
the two ways where you really get your head, like
your brain into those Joe Bell wrung as they used
to call it. Yeah, it's it's the side impact. It's
the rotational impact, like when you can't it's you don't
think about a boxer, right when do you see the
(50:30):
lights go out? It's the punch they don't see coming
to the side of the head to the chin where
it rotates their neck. Now Burrow has come back from
the Tan. He's back on the bench right now. Green
Bay has the ball. But we'll keep our eye on
Joe Burrow and whether or not he will return for
the Bengals. But he's back on the sideline right now,
no helmet on. But on the sideline, well, what they
(50:50):
do is they give you, and I'm not kidding, a
list of words to remember on the sideline. I'm not kidding,
random words. Say five or six of them, and they say,
you know, under normal circumstances, if I said pencil, soap,
blue flag, apple to you, you know, five minutes later,
(51:11):
you'd probably be able to repeat those words if that
was the only thing you needed to concentrate on. But
when you can cuss, your short term memory suffers. You
struggle answering questions like that. So the evaluation will continue,
probably through most of this quarter. We'll see if we
see him back in this game in the second half. Alright,

Do you see any of that uh Fury Wilder fight
last night? I don't even know what to call that.
Was that a fight? It was like two big, lumbering
giants just exhausted, like they could not stand up, just
(51:56):
pounding on each other. Well, look, I mean it was
a slug fest. There were a lot of hard shots thrown. Uh.
And look, when you're going against a guy like Deonte Wilder,
and I'm talking about from Tyson Fury standpoint, you just
have to worry about the right hand. Yeah, Like he
is to a certain extent of one trick pony. He's
He's a talented fighter, there's no question. But the big
(52:16):
thing is when he throws that right hand, he could
take away anybody's life. Well, Fury also is very good
with that gigantic body of his of just laying on you,
even as guy as big as Wilder is, and both
these guys put on even more weight for this fight.
I I I you know, when I'm watching these absolute
giants like that, and I'm thinking, how would a five
(52:36):
foot eleven Mike Tyson affaired against the guy like Fury
or wilder as gigantic as they are, because when he
did get matched up against bigger fighters like Buster Douglas
and obviously a Lenox Lewis layer, and he didn't look
quite as intimidating. Well certainly, I mean there you give
away wingspan, You give away something in a lot of
(52:57):
cases weight to these larger fight uh and mass moves mass.
When you throw a punch with twenty extra pounds behind
it and it connects in it, it hurts. It was
the biggest guy you ever matched up against defensive lineman
where you're just like, this guy is insane. My my
rookie year was drafted to the Patriots. Vince will Fork
was four hundred pounds. I'm not kidding. His playing weight
(53:20):
was Do you move a guy like that? You don't
You Just what I used to say to Vince when
when I when I actually blocked him up at practice,
I was like, he was like, you know, and he
would he was always generous. He'd be like, hey, good
job on that one. I'm like, yeah, Vince, I'm not
really blocking. I'm just escorting you in the direction you
wanted to go anyways, and I'm just keeping my body
between you and the running back. Yeah, it looks good
(53:42):
on Phil. All right, we continue on a lot of
things happening, are actually nearing halftime in some of these
games right now, keeping there on Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
Now back live to the studios of Fox Sports Radio.
This is Fox Red Zone Radio on second and go
with the one at two seventeen and winding and the
(54:04):
gift and Nachi up over the top for the Pittsburgh
Steelers touchdown. He did it off left tackle. Wow. This
is Fox rad Zone Radio and we've got the place
that you may have missed. All right, So that was
I heard own I Heart Media owned w v E
(54:28):
one or two point five FM w b g G Steelers.
This is when everyone was bearing him coming in on
a three game losing streak. They're up seventeen six right now,
two minute warning over the Denver Broncos. Big Ben is
seven or thirteen hundred and sixty yards a touchdown. Note
picks and Nazi Harris, the rookie out of Alabama having
a big game. Fifteen carries, seventy three yards rushing and
(54:52):
a touchdown. So so I mentioned earlier all these people
said the Steelers are done. They have a coach who's
never had a losing season. They can find a way.
And remember this seat team was what to start last year.
There might be a little more gas left in the
tank than people say. Down Green Bay Packers. Wow, Green Bay.
So they're on the board. Davante Adams catches of fade.
(55:15):
They're calling it a touchdown, but on his way out
of bounds, the ball kind of got knocked out of
his hands. But the points are on the board. Point
is on the field and is good. All right. We're
holding our breath with every extra point attempt. We've had
six missed extra points in the first half of these
games so far. Early today, uh Texans are still leading
(55:38):
the New England Patriots via a score of fifteen to nine.
Both teams have added field goals after earlier touchdowns. All
three extra points in this game are mits. Titans leading
the Jaguars right now twenty four to thirteen. Panthers over
the Eagles third team. The three looks like the Panthers
defense is back. We got the watching football team and
(55:59):
the Saints are hide at thirteen right now, blocks over
the Dolphins seventeen to ten there at the two minute warning.
Their vikings are at halftime right now leading the Lions
by a score of thirteen of six, and as you mentioned,
the Packers with a sixteen seven lead over the Bengals.
I did not notice whether or not we got Burrow
back in the game. Guys, did Joe Burrow come back
(56:21):
in the game. He got a little banged up earlier,
and maybe we'll see now he's jogging out onto the
field with the starting offense. So with only about a
minute left in the half, it looks like Joe Burrow
is gonna be back on the field for the Cincinnati
Bengals in Cincinnati hosting the Green Bay Packers, trailing by nine.
All right, so very busy morning around the National Football League. Also,
(56:45):
we got some games coming up a little bit later
on this afternoon, the Raiders hosting the Bears, Chargers hosting
the Browns, Cowboys associing the Giants, And we talked to
Mark Sanchez earlier. He'll be on the broadcast for Fox
as the Cardinals host the forty Niners. The John Gruden
story today went next level. Not only did he have
apparently derogatory comments about Demorris Smith, apparently also late some
(57:09):
at the feet of the Commissioner Roger Goodell, and we
talked about this a little bit earlier, rich Um. As
far as the Raiders are concerned, They're rolling along three
and oh, and they got worked by the Chargers. They
did not look the same their offense, which had been
so dynamic the first three weeks. So I think a
lot of Raider fans are sitting there, are they? For real?
They're sitting at three and one. You like where they are,
(57:32):
But where where do you stand on this Raiders team?
Right now? Really quickly, guy, The Buccaneers just scored again.
Antonio Brown his second touchdown. Yeah, he had that long
touchdown pass earlier as another one. Now and what happened here?
We just had Joe Burrow just drilled Jamaar Chase with
the deep bomb, was like sixty yards out. I was
just looking up and I'm seeing Jamaar Chase so one
(57:54):
in the end zone. So wow, I guess Joe Burrow
is okay. It was a bullet man wick work there,
Jamar Chase on the catch and run for over six
yard touchdown. The Bengals are on the board thirteen sixteen.
Coaches are looking at their defense on the Packer sidelines saying,
what the hell was that, how does he get so
far open? So the Bengals winning on the extra point
(58:16):
right now, Green Bay leading in this game by sixteen.
They just showed the replay on this. It was a
deep deep over route. Jamaar Chase just got behind the defense.
Packers defender try to make up and dive for the
ball in air and the right sixteen fourteen. So the Packers,
who looked pretty secure going into the half, now with
(58:36):
thirty six seconds to go in the half instead of
sixteen seven and is sixteen fourteen Packers leading the Bengals
getting back to the Raiders. Yeah, here's my thoughts on
just the whole situation right now with the Raiders. It's
not dissimilar to Urban Meyern the Jacksonville Jaguars. Look, you
never want your head coach to be a distraction. You
never when you are hiring a head coach to lead
(58:58):
your football team. And I think John Gruden has done
a pretty good job building out this roster with Mike Mack,
pretty good job building a culture inside of the Raiders
locker room, um fostering some talents, bringing along Derek Carr
and teaching him how he wants offense to be ran
his way. You know, all of it. It's positive. But
(59:18):
as soon as a story like this comes out, where
you know, you've got players in the locker room having
to answer questions about John Gruden's behavior and what he
said about the executive director with serious racial overtones. I mean,
this is the same thing happening with the Jacksonville Jaguars
Urban Meyer because he had some young lady grinding on
him at a bar instead of hopping on the flight home, right, yeah,
(59:42):
hopping on a flight home with the team. The players
in the locker room have to answer questions about, like, hey,
have you ever been on a team where your head
coach didn't make the trip back? It's like, hey, you know,
we were just concentrating on and we got a big
assignment against the Tennessee Titans. Now the Raiders have to
do the same thing, and that's the problem. Don't become
a distraction. That's exactly what's happened with John Gruden. All right.
(01:00:03):
By the way, Jamaar Chase, what a catch that was.
I mean, Green May was all over him, and it
just I find it comical how Chase was dropping everything
in the preseason and he was talking about because he
sat out all of last year, didn't play at all
at L s U and just he said, trying to
catch up to the speed of the game. And man,
(01:00:23):
a lot of people are thinking, wow, this this guy
is just not gonna get it done. But once the
regular season began, he's catching everything right now and he
is a big time UH receiver. All right, give us
another highlight right now, here's Sam Rogers takes one step
drop offs left. Sadly Fenzon Tavantean's touchdown ball was craped
(01:00:44):
up by Trey Wayne, but the possession and down was
the receiver with possession before the ball was knocked close.
It's a touchdown Green ball, all right. So that was
Packers Radio Network, and they took a sixteen seven Lady
the way Aaron Rodgers right now, seventeen and twenty four,
two and three yards, two touchdowns and a pick. But immediately,
(01:01:06):
as we mentioned, Joe Burrow answered right back with the
seventy yard touchdown bomb to Jamaar Chase. And it's sixteen
fourteen Green Bay leading the Cincinnati Bengals. And to your
point on Jamaar Chase, I mean, he is not only
UH turning into a really talented NFL receiver. But he's
also extremely explosive. Nineteen receptions on the year, He's well
(01:01:26):
over seventeen and a half yards per average catching the football,
So I think that just one up with that seventy yards. Yeah,
when you when you think about it, he's top five
in that category. When you have a receiver who's that
dominant down field, you can flip a field in a hurry.
That's exactly what they did at home against the Packers.
Has some pretty good numbers here. Tampa Bay leading the
(01:01:48):
Dolphins now twenty four to ten, a minute and a
half to go in the first half. Let's hear Tampa's
latest score. Brady looking tops. It's a cad ball touchdown.
Tonio Brown touched up Tampa Bay Row and the Buccaneers
radio network. How are these numbers? Tom Brady's forty four
years old, sixteen or twenty two, two or twenty five yards,
three touchdowns, no picks. Antonio Brown on the receiving end
(01:02:11):
of two of those touchdowns. Isn't amazing? How Antonio Brown?
We we were sitting here endlessly talking about with this
guy over play again, whatever team ever want this guy again?
He was finished, he was ruined. And we had the
situation with the Raiders, the situation with the Patriots, and
then he hooks up with Tom Brady and Tampa and
(01:02:34):
somehow everything is just calmed down. He's just doing the
Antonio Brown thing today. Four catches, eighty two yards, two
touchdowns in the first half for Antonio Brown having a
good time in Tampa Bay. Yeah. Like, look at Josh
Gordon's trajectory for example, right, you know, he has a
lot of difficulties and he ends up leaving football for
(01:02:57):
a while after a stint with Cleveland, goes to the
New England Patriots, and that's a stable coach culture. Goes
to the Seattle Seahawks and that's a stable culture with
Pete Carroll. Goes now to the Kansas City Chiefs. The
stable coach culture with uh with Andy Reid. You know,
that's that's really the only coaches who feel comfortable bringing
(01:03:18):
in players who really have struggled in the past with
some off the field issues. Is is coaches who have
job security, who have a culture in place, who have
a lot of players that can sort of keep a
guy on track, keep them in the tunnel, so to speak,
and and keep some of the outside distractions away between
Tom Brady and Bruce Arians, I think they're guiding this
(01:03:39):
receiver back to the football path and away from a
lot of the things that distracted him from the field.
And he's a supreme talent. He was in Pittsburgh, he
is still today, all right. So Miami trying to answer back.
They just gotten into Tampa Bay territory at the forty
yard line. We got a minute four ten to go
in the half. There mentioned Carolina right now run out
(01:04:00):
the half up fifteen to three against the Philadelphia Eagles.
So we're getting around halftime right now. Around the National
Football League, there's so many games I want to get
to coming up on the other side, coming up later
on this afternoon. But first let's find out what is trending.
And look who's back. It is David Gascon. What's going on?
David Man just just enjoying the Sunday. No, yes, it's
(01:04:23):
beautiful coming up. Be a little fall in the air
right now here in so Cow. We're finally get a
little bit, just a little bit chill. Do you feel it?
Do you get it in your in your sinus? Do
you get it in your I just love it. I
just I mean it's such a great time of the year.
It really is. Yeah. You know, seasons change, seasons change,
we start turning. Yeah, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna lie.
(01:04:46):
You know, just yesterday, put a fresh tank of gas
in my car cost me about ninety dollars. Here in California.
It's beautiful, but I had to retire the sandals. That
time of the year, you put the shirts the sandals away.
Those toes are getting a little they're getting a little frost.
But that's a little frustrating. Man. You're gonna adapt to
the rest of the country. What I always look forward
to is that extra blanket on the on the bed.
(01:05:08):
You know, it's it's been put away obviously, and I'm
just waiting for it to get to the point where
I'm ready to crank out the extra blanket. Me. It's
the pumpkins spice. Guys. You know it's you're disgusting. You
get yourself a latte, little pumpkins spice. Get yourself some
cheerious little pumpkin spice. I'm not gonna lie. It's like
that time of the year you can just stack the
pancakes or waffles and just you know, have a good
(01:05:29):
time in the morning and watch college football. Rain earlier
this week, guys, how about that? It's not good. I
love the rain we need now we needed more rain.
They were predicting more rain than actually have. That was
address It's gonna be a mild winter right here, very
um guys. Fox was showing Tastom Hill getting carted off
the locker room. Saints right now in the Washington football
(01:05:50):
team going at it. It's thirteen thirteens to score that
the two minute warning in that affair Dolphins and Buccaneers.
You guys hearing a lot with Tom Brady today coming
It's a pass a boy called ball, fifty funk race
to the forty's by Tony o'brow fifteen ten five touchdops
have a Bay Tony o'brown Brown had a who who today?
(01:06:14):
So far four grabs eighty two yards to touchdowns Tampa
Bay over Miami Pittsburgh and didn't write the break Stealers
seventeen six over the Broncos Big Bend a touchdown pass
one turnover Vikings by seven over due trait at recess as,
while Green Bay leads at since today sixteen fourteen. Earlier today,
Falcons twenty seven to twenty over the New York Jets. Um,
(01:06:35):
I'm gonna heard you guys talk about your fantasy teams.
I know, Steve, you're not competing anymore. No, I will
tell you about my picks though today all of them
are losing. I made the executive decision. Since Washington's defense
is not shown up this year, I drafted their defense
and uh Cleveland's. But since Cleveland is in Los Angeles
against the charges, I thought I'm gonna be smart today.
(01:06:57):
I'm gonna go pick up New England's defense. Whoops, yeah,
whoop yeah, Davis Mills lighting them up like defense this year.
I can't believe you had zero faith in Davis Mills.
I really I saw this coming. To Jesus, I'm telling
(01:07:18):
you nine at the half Houston has a lead. Thank
you very much, David. We'll keep you updated on everything
around the NFL here on Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
Brought to you by one of our favorite cities, Las Vegas,
the greatest arena on Earth. Plannership today at visit Las
Vegas dot com. When don't we When do you want
I gonna go back to Vegas? We gotta go, We
gotta yeah, we gotta get out there soon. All right,
(01:07:41):
give us the latest, right now, Sam shotgun snap to Burrow.
Good protection. He's looking, he's looking, scrambling right, still looking.
Burrow is gonna step into it. Deep balls down field
for Chase. Yeah, he does the twenty touchdown bag goals.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Bengals Radio network, you had
(01:08:05):
to see this catch. I mean, you talk about a
perfectly placed pass and an unbelievable reception by Jamaar Chase,
the rookie. So it's halftime now the Packers leading in
Bengals by the score of sixteen to four teen. UM.
That was big time throwing. This was Burrow. If you
missed it. He got knocked out of the game. He
(01:08:25):
took a hit where he got slammed down to the
turf side of his helmet, hit the field. Doctors came
onto the field, they let him off, They put in
the tent sort of checking him out. Came back on
the field and that was it. First throw, seventy yard
touch now pass on the money. Yeah, not bad to
come back onto the field and do something like that.
But yeah, he spent some time in the injury tent.
(01:08:45):
Then he spent some time seated on the sideline on
the bench and then win in the game and just
threw a touchdown pass. That's what Joey b does. Look
I I and I think it's actually something to point
out that a lot of these UH pro person old
directors and general managers around the NFL are trying to
survey surround starting quarterbacks in the league with targets they
(01:09:07):
were used to throwing two in college. Burrow and Jamaar
Chase at l s U Waddling too at Alabama, UH
Davante Smith and and Jalen Hurts at Alabama. You know,
these are all starting quarterbacks around the league now and
they have one of their receivers or in some cases
multiple receivers who they were used to targeting in college.
All right, Checking some of the halftime stats. Steelers leading
(01:09:30):
in the Broncos seventeen six of the half, Big Ben
eight of fourteen, hundred sixty five yards a touchdown. Note
pics that touchdown to Deante Johnson, Naji Harris huge half
seventeen carries eighty nine yards and a score. As far
as Denver, not much. Teddy Bridgewater just six of eleven,
only fifty six yards. Javante Williams has forty nine yards rushing,
(01:09:51):
but total of just a hundred and seven yards. So
the Broncos got after that three and oh start against
teams that were combining oh and nine now sending their
face in a little different level of competition. Although the
Steelers were considered a team on a free fall, but
not looking like it today. Steelers in control of this
game by score of seventeen to six. Yeah. Look, you
(01:10:12):
know the Denver Broncos got found out a little bit
against the Ravens, right, you know, they host them in Denver.
But the Ravens only score twenty three points. So if
this offense can muster anything today against this Pittsburgh Steelers defense,
then the second half could look very different. They gotta
figure out how to attack, how to neutralize the rush
(01:10:32):
up front that Pittsburgh has been presenting so far today,
and keep Teddy Bridgewater on his feet otherwise it's gonna
be a long second half al right, coming to the
half now, Saints and the Washington football team are tied
at thirteen. Taylor Heineke in this game two yards, no
touchdowns and a pick. Jamis Winston sub seven of fifteen
(01:10:54):
hundred forty yards touchdown interception how do we go from
what we saw Week one Winstince through five touchdown passes
the light of a green Bay to where we are
right now. And at the very best, you can say
no progress is being made. I could say he is regressing,
but no real progress is being made in the development
(01:11:15):
of Jamis Winston in the Sean Payton offense, why well,
it takes time. Uh and and you know, we saw
this with the greatest quarterback who's ever played the game
in Tom Brady getting used to a new offensive system
in his first year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Re
rewind the clock. They were a seven and five football
team at one point. There are a lot of people
(01:11:36):
I wasn't one of them, certainly, but there were a
lot of people who started making the commentary that Tom
Brady is is washed. And you know, you could tell
he's struggling connecting with his receivers and he goes and
wins the Super Bowl. And my saying it's gonna look
the same for Jamis Winston, absolutely not. But let it bake.
You need to give a guy time to learn a system,
(01:11:57):
even though he backed up last year. It's very different
when you're taking live reps when you're taking all the
starters reps up practice. I think I think we're seeing
some of the things that we saw when he was
a starting quarterback for the Buccaneers, but I have seen improvement.
He looks better than he did in Tampa, and that's
a sign that they're taking a step in the right direction.
So how would Jacksonville share in the aftermath of all
(01:12:19):
the Shenanigans involving their coach Irvan Meyer. Well, the down
the half to the Titans, but it's not all bad.
Trevor Lawrence is eleven four hundred, fourteen yards a touchdown,
note picks. James Robinson has run for a hundred and
ten yards and a touchdown in the first half, so
offensively they're looking pretty good two d forty one total yards.
(01:12:39):
Defensively not as great, although they have held Derrick Henry
to just thirty one yards rushing into the half. Although
as you and I know, his first half stats mean nothing.
It's always the second half where they unleash Derrick Henry,
especially in close games. Ryan Tannehill d nine yards, a
touchdown and no picks. So Titans leading this game by
(01:13:00):
score of four to third team guys. I got something
for you. You You were just talking about. Jamis Winston threw
up a hail mary to end be half and it
goes for a touchdown too. Callaway of forty nine yard
touchdown pass to close out behalf. Saints lead Washington. I
was just I was not. I saw nineteen seconds to
(01:13:20):
go halftime and not so fast. So Midston delivers on
the hail mary. Saints go to the half leading on
the road against the Washington football team. All right, wow,
you got a very busy day coming up. I want
to get into one game coming up a little bit
later on the Chargers and the Browns. Rich Chargers are
(01:13:40):
looking really good right now, and yet they're barely favorite
at home against the Browns. And that's the Browns team
with a banged up Baker Mayfield. So what's going on here?
Brown's number one rushing offense in the NFL, the two
headed monster Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, and they're going
against a Chargers d fans that went into last week
(01:14:01):
with the worst run defense in the NFL that currently
twenty nine. So a lot of people are telling me, oh, yeah,
I love the Browns in this game. I'm like, really,
I listen, I mean, I'm like, they're they're evenly matched,
and this is gonna be the first time really the
Chargers might enjoy what feels like a true home field advantage.
(01:14:21):
Now they haven't since they moved to Los Angeles, but
there's a lot of buzz around justin Herbert. And there
was a Bowl game environment in that Dallas Cowboys uh
game at so far where where the Cowboys were able
to survive and beat the Chargers. Charges really beat themselves
with all those penalties, and and you look at the
amount of Charges fans that show up, there are some,
(01:14:42):
there aren't many. They're not gonna fill so far. I
mean their first to home games were against the Cowboys
and the Raiders, come on, so you know those got
those two teams have a huge fan base, and Southern
Browns may not draw as well. So this could be
the first time where Chargers fans finally out raw the
opponent's fan base. Did you find that line cure? They've
(01:15:03):
been like a two two and a half point favorite
at home. Yeah, And remember Baker Mayfield is banged up
right now. Bakers banged up. He didn't play well in
their last outing. The two games he hasn't played well,
the Browns defense is really the key to their success
so far this season, and they've been great. Garrett is
potentially going to win Defensive Player of the Year, Slater
(01:15:26):
this offensive tackle. You're gonna see Myles Garrett Rashawn S
later all day long. Whoever wins that battle is really
going to be a key for their team's success tonight
as they take they take each other on alright. So, well,
you are now already in a halftime and heading into
the second half of games around the NFL. For all
the latest, keep it right here on Fox Sports Red
(01:15:48):
Zone Radio. Now back live to the studios of Fox
Sports Radio. This is Fox Red Zone Radio. Now he's
gonna run up the pocket, climbing. Now he's gonna throw
it deep into the end sign it's gonna be at chopball.
Mark Us Callaway is there and I think he's got it.
It looks like mark Quez Callaway came devil that chopball
(01:16:11):
New Orleans Callaway touchdown. This is Fox Red Zone Radio,
and we've got the place that you may have missed.
That was w w L Saints Radio Network. So with
a Hail Mary, Saints take the twenty thirteen halftime lead.
(01:16:35):
Over the Washington football team. Meanwhile, can you believe it?
It's all about the Texans. Yeah, firing downfield towards Roc Box.
Condy has about the five eason the texass scar on
my blue flicker. Three touchdown passes for Davis Mills. This
is insane Sports Radio six ten Texans Radio Network. This
(01:16:59):
was one of my picks of the day was the
Patriots minus nine on the road against the Texans. It
is now twenty two to nine Texans and Davis Mills
is thirteen of seventeen two u or thirty nine yards,
three touchdowns, no picks. A perfect pass rating is one
(01:17:21):
fifty eight point three. He's got one fifty seven point five. Um.
I they're getting blown out right now and David's Mills
is having his way against New England. What if I mean, seriously,
what if New England goes I don't know with a
ricky quarterback. Mac Jones is doing much of nothing today.
(01:17:41):
If they go five and twelve, I mean they're one
and three, They're staring at one and four possibly unless
mac Jones can engineer a comeback. What's the fall out
of a five and twelve season if it goes that route?
For Bill Belichi. I mean, we're a long way from home,
but you're you're going to start hearing the conversation from
(01:18:01):
last year that was really just being whispered around the
water cooler, intensify about Bill Belichick's job security in New England.
You know, they're going to have to get this right.
And they're putting a lot of faith in mac Jones,
you know, obviously being a fifteenth overall picks. Well, they
also spent more money on free agents than they have
ever and all those picks were done by Bill Belichi
(01:18:24):
under Henry John hu Smith. They're trying to reinvent this offense,
get some comfortable targets for mac Jones, and then defensively.
I mean, that's where it's really surprising what's happening in
Houston today. But let's see what the second half looks like.
This is the second half. This is endemic. Yeah, well
we're only that touchdown was in the second We're only
(01:18:45):
four minutes into the second half. Well, this is endemic
of Bill Belichick team. He'll have some stinkers. He'll have
it's usually only one a year, it's sometimes it's two
a year, but you'll have some stinkers. I remember, gosh,
I guess it was now five years ago. It was
a Monday nighter in Kansas City that got absolutely torched
(01:19:06):
flamed by the Chiefs on the road, and everybody was
talking about how, I mean, is it over with Brady?
Is Garoppolo gonna take over for him? Or the New
England Patriots going to figure it out? And they ended
up rattling off a bunch of wins and making it
to the Super Bowl that season. Is that what this
is gonna look like this season? Probably not, But I
haven't lost faith in New England or Bill Belichick yet. Well,
(01:19:30):
it'll be interesting to see how history has written. I mean,
you're one was all Brady and the argument about who
made who who was more responsible for those New England championships.
Brady wins the Super Bowl in Tampa and England had
his first losing season in twenty years. But it could
be even worse this year. I mean, what if Tampa
comes back and wins another Super Bowl and as they said,
(01:19:50):
New England just collapses. What does this do? I mean,
it's Belichick has the greatest resume obviously of any coach ever.
He's won six Super Bowls, he been to nine Super
Bowls at the head coach, Well, they went to like
fourteen conference championship games. Crazy numbers, but Brady's continued success
in Tampa and the fact that the Patriots are struggling
(01:20:13):
right now, this is ugly. They were nine point favorites
on the road against the Texans team that universally has
been panned as the worst team in the league. Houston's
coming off of a forty to nothing loss on the
road to Buffalo. So, I mean, if if we were
going to write one game off as hey, we kind
of know what this is gonna look like, it was
gonna be New England visiting Houston. Today it's gone anything.
(01:20:36):
But the most recent score was on a flea flicker.
I mean, they're even reaching into their own bag of
tricks and coming up with more ways to uh to
score on the New England Patriots defense. So this is
uh bad, going worse for New England. And who knows,
maybe maybe this is going to be the the beginning
(01:20:56):
of the David uh cully uh dynasty in Houston, because
a lot of people are like, oh, they're just getting
sort of like a placeholder coach. Well, the Houston Texans
figure it out. But who knows, Maybe it's Cully and
and Mills going to be the next grade NFL dynasty.
I mean, the Deshaun Watson situation, everything going on in Houston.
(01:21:18):
If this team wins six or seven games this year,
he's got to get some Coach of the Air votes.
I mean, there's just no um. We got green Bay
on the move right now. Second half underway, green Bay
leading the Bengals sixteen to fourteen at the half. Bengals
Joe Burrow continues to look good in down Tennessee. The
times on the board again and looks like Derrick Henry
(01:21:41):
got into the end zone. It's now thirty to thirteen
in Jacksonville over the Jaguars. Yeah, and uh, they're not
showing a lot of Urban Meyer shots on the sideline.
This was just straight up the middle for Derrick Henry
and you're just not gonna get away or in front
of that runaway train right there. But green Bay is
on the move right now as they are driving down
(01:22:02):
the field on this Cincinnati defense trying to reassert themselves.
And it's one of those perfect ways to start a
second half, right you grinded out, use up some clock,
you try to build on a two point lead, and
that's where the Packers are. They've actually been running the
ball pretty effectively in this game, Aaron Jones and A J. Dillon,
but Rogers doing the job as well. Twenty six yards,
(01:22:25):
two touchdowns and an interception. All right, so it's been
a very busy start to our day around the National
Football League. We're into second half action right now. We
got all those games covered well as it gets you
ready for more of the games coming up later this afternoon.
In other words, when you need all the NFL coverage
you can handle, just keep it right here on Fox

Tannahill gets the Titans on the ball, gets Henry at
right guard to the five to the end zone. He
lost the ball as he got into the end zone,
(01:23:08):
but that doesn't count. The play is dead. Touchdown tight
Derek Henry w g f X one or four point
five Titans Radio Network, mentioning that Derrick Henry at thirty
one yards rushing in the first half. He's already up
to seventy three yards rushing in two touchdowns, so he's
just getting warmed up right now. Titans leading the Jacksonville
(01:23:29):
Jaguars by a score of thirty one to third team,
all right, rolling on right now. The Green Bay Packers,
who mentioned before the top of the hour, we're on
the move. They ended up with a field goal, so
they up their lead to nineteen fourteen over the Cincinnati Bengals.
And New England, uh got a field goal. That's pretty
(01:23:52):
much been the story of New England today. Not doing
a whole lot Nick Folk of fifty two yard field goal,
but the Texans still leading to England by score of
twenty two to twelve, which has to be the upset
of the day so far. So he mentioned earlier, New
England came in as a nine point favorite on the road.
Texans got humiliated last week by Buffalo. But it's been
(01:24:12):
the Davis Mills story. Sixteen twenty one, two hundred and
sixties seven yards, three touchdowns and no picks. So this
whole story about Belichick's lockdown of rookie quarterbacks not playing
out today as Davis Mills, who and I said this before,
I mean, I know I know the name, and he
(01:24:33):
was a third round pick, but I if you were
to ask me a highlight from his time at Stanford,
I really have no recall. None, No listen and look
that that goes to show you the NFL. It's it's weird, man.
You know, it's right time, right place, right surrounding right
offensive coaches or defensive Yeah, you know, and Davis Mills.
(01:24:56):
I'm not coordinating him the next Daron Rodgers or Tom Brady.
But Tom Brady was an overlooked six rounder. And you know,
like so many times before, throughout the history of the NFL,
you've had situations where people didn't figure out who they
were till later in their career, or the people in
position of decision making didn't figure out whether or not
(01:25:19):
a guy had the goods until he got an opportunity.
I've always wanted to ask you this, um, So, you
were a fourth round pick of New England at the
height of their power. Had you been picked by a
lesser team, yeah, I mean when you joined the knowing
of the Patriots, the standards are at the absolute highest
and the competition is fierce, obviously just to get some
(01:25:40):
playing time. But if you got into a lesser team,
and they immediately just plug in and said, all right,
let's go Rich. You know, we're trying to get to respectability.
Do you think that your career could have gone a
different path? Oh, it certainly could have or would have
you know, I mean, there's no doubt it would have
looked different if I had gotten more playing time earlier
in my career. I would is brought in to eventually
(01:26:01):
replace offensive lineman that had been getting older at the
position in front of me, and they that's something that
New England does. They will bring in draft picks and
they'll groom them to take over responsibilities. And so, uh,
that was the goal. It didn't work out there for
me getting much playing time, So my career took me
elsewhere and I did, you know, but but yeah, certainly,
(01:26:22):
what can happen with certain players if if they get
overexposed early in their career, it could have a detrimental effect.
Or sometimes if a guy sits on a roster but
doesn't get playing time, he could get a little bored,
he could get a little rusty, and and you know,
he could miss the window where he could have really
had a great career. You just never know, and That's
(01:26:43):
why it's so important, especially with the most important position
like quarterback, to get drafted or selected in free agency
into the right situation because your environment is everything when
it comes to the quarterback position. All right, the Bengals
are on the move right now. Although that was an
errand passed by Joe Burrows nineteen four teen Packers, this
(01:27:04):
game is motoring along. Man. We're about the two minute
mark of the third quarter, green Bay on top nineteen
of four team. Uh. Joe Burrows numbers in this game
good fifteen yards to touchdowns. He did throw a pick
to Mark Chase. What can you say? Four catches, a
hundred and nineteen yards and a seventy yard touchdown in
this game. So they have cross midfield. They're actually at
(01:27:26):
the thirty nine yard line of Green Bay right now,
and they are on the move. And I guess the
one thing we're taken away from this game, because we
were talking about two three and one teams, is how
real is the Bengals three and one? Um? And I
would say what we've at least answered in this game
is they're legit. I mean, are they a playoff team?
(01:27:46):
That remains to be seen. But when you look at
their upcoming schedule, they got three straight road games coming
up after this game at the Lions. You need to
win that game. At the Ravens, that's a tough game,
and then at the Jets. So you know, any road
victory in the NFL, I don't care who you're playing,
is always like a bonus win if you added to
the ledger. But if they win two of those three games,
(01:28:09):
then all of a sudden they settle into pretty good.
They have three straight home games at one point. In fact,
they have one run where they have five home games
in six weeks. So I don't dismiss the Bengals. Zach
Taylor is a guy that got a lot of fire.
He took over for a long time coach that obviously
it had great success. Were to write him off last season,
I was, and I was like, the guy was awful.
(01:28:32):
But I mean I I was awful the guy had
they weren't winning any games. I mean, we're sitting here
with t J. Houshman Zada, the former Bengal, and he's like, man,
oh man, Yeah, look, when you don't have a quarterback,
you don't have a chance. And Zach Taylor in his
time as a Cincinnati Bengals head coach has had games
very few with an actual quarterback, and Joe Burrow is
(01:28:53):
that guy. But the problem was he was injured all
last year and the problem is this season. I mean, like,
you hope he's gonna stay healthy, but if he doesn't,
what becomes of you? That is the situation every team
is faced with. When you have a great quarterback, you've
got a chance. When you don't, you probably don't have
a chance. Look at the Super Bowl winners. Shoot, just
(01:29:14):
look at the Super Bowl super Bowl opponents over the
course of the last decade. Count how many Hall of
Fame quarterbacks played in those games. It's a lot. It's
a lot. So you need a great one to get
you all the way. And watching Joe Burrow on a
fourth and two, fourth and two, they go for it
yah third quarter, nineteen fourteen game, they call the quarterback
(01:29:36):
draw and they get the first down. And somebody's gonna
about Joe Burrow. What are they say that. One of
the things they say about Joe Burrow is is that
he understands his limitations. He knows what he can do,
he knows what he can't do. He doesn't force things
out there and he just understands how to play the position.
And that's why the Bengals are where they are right now. Although,
(01:29:58):
as you mentioned, a holding call and now it's a
fourth and twelve, so we're gonna most likely get a
field goal attempt here. Meanwhile, here's some highlights for the
Miami Dolphins. Grips to the left back to thrope Let's
come off. Miles Gaster was wide open a five sixty
the Joe w q a M Dolphins radio network. There.
(01:30:20):
So the Miami Dolphins trying to make a little noise
now down on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
All right, so Cincinnati, they're going for it on fourth
and twelve, or at least it looks like it. Maybe
they're playing some mind games. They're gonna take a time out.
Was trying to get an off side, but again, why
offside with fourth and twelve? I guess maybe to get
(01:30:42):
closer on the field goal attempt? Yeah, are you gonna
attempt a field goal here? It's at the forty yard line,
that's fifty seven yards. They took the delay of game
probably to move back maybe to punt to yeah, make
a little room for their punter to get yeah, well, listen,
I mean that's along field goal, and I don't I
don't doubt that this is the correct decision, especially after
(01:31:03):
you saw Jacksonville be able to return along field goal
for a touchdown early in the season. Just a nice
reminder that those plays can happen. So the Bengals elect
to punt their trailing by five at home against the
Green Bay Packers game right now. And to your point
about quarterback play in the NFL, you know, you have
a guy like Joe Burrows, careful with the football, makes
(01:31:26):
the plays he can make. You got a guy like
Jamis Winston who's a little bit of a gambler. He
tossed it up to the defense sometimes he'll try to
fit it into double coverage. He he has a big arm,
He's got tremendous arm talent, and those are the guys
that you need to sort of rein in. I think
the benefit of having a player like that is they
can make any throw. The negative, though, is they can
(01:31:47):
make any throw and they often try to. With Joe Burrow,
he's a guy, he's a limited athlete. He's not going
to absolutely dazzle you with what he can do rushing
the football. He he doesn't have a huge arm, so
this is somebody who's made his hey being very selective
with the passes he wants to throw. He does a
great job in games we haven't mentioned much because frankly,
(01:32:08):
there's not a whole lot going on. Carolina leading Philadelphia
fifteen to six. If you look at Philadelphia stats, it
looks like Carolina's defense is back. Jalen Hurt sixteen twenty six,
just eighty five yards passing and one pick, and Philadelphia
has nineteen yards rushing in this game, so that means
they've only had a hundred four total yards with seven
(01:32:29):
minutes ago in the third quarter. Tell you it was
emerged for Carolina because McCaffrey obviously out right now. Chuba Hubbard,
the rookie at Oklahoma State, has seventy yards rushing in
this game on sixteen carries, so he looks pretty good.
Sam Donald, though pedestrian thirteen ninety three yards, a touchdown,
two picks in this game, has been sacked three times,
(01:32:51):
so you know, just when it was yeah, Sam Donald,
he might be all the way back. It seems like
some teams are catching up right now, Sam Donald, and
he's regressed the last couple of weeks. You know what's
so odd about the Philadelphia Eagles is you look at
their record and they've only won a single game, um,
but they're like a top ten offense statistically, you know
(01:33:12):
what I mean, Like they've been piling up, well it's
Jalen Hurts. Is there a whole lot offense. They've been
piling up a lot of garbage yards where they're getting
beat pretty bad. They're having a hard time scoring points,
keeping up scoring with the likes of the forty Niners,
the Cowboys, the Chiefs, and they've had a really tough
schedule to open outside of that opening game against the Falcons.
(01:33:33):
And yeah, the Carolina Panthers defense taking care of him
Hurts through a touchdown to start this next Panthers drive.
Come back team of the week touchdown? Yeah, come back
team of the week. Maybe the Pittsburgh Steelers. They just
scored again Chase Claypool eighteen yard reception from Ben Roethlisberger.
So they are leading Denver twenty four to six. All
(01:33:53):
I heard all week was Pittsburgh has done They're finished
big Ben today proving otherwise. Twelve teen yards, two touchdowns,
no picks, Nazi Harris has a hundred and eight teen
yards rushing in this game and a touchdown, So at
least this week, it looks like the Steelers are gonna
have a bounce back. All right, we continue on heading
towards the end of the third quarter. We're gonna be
(01:34:14):
into fourth quarter action coming up. Keep it here on
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Now back live to the
studios of Fox Sports Radio. This is Fox Red Zone
Radio person for the end zone touch down, Chase Pipe
poo a leaping crab and fit hit him perfectly. This
(01:34:41):
is Fox Red Zone Radio, and we've got the place
that you may have missed. That was I Heart Media
owned w d v E one or two point five
f m N w b g G. The Steelers, as
we managed, and rolling right now in the third quarter,
(01:35:03):
taking it to the Denver Broncos. Seat in the game
by a score of twenty four to six. Got Carolina
on the move right now, already leading Philadelphia fifteen is six.
Green Bay's got the ball back up nineteen fourteen on
the road against the Cincinnati Bengals, and New England's scored.
But now they gotta figure out way can they stop.
(01:35:25):
The Texans were at the end of the third quarter
he used to lead in this game by a score
of twenty two to fifteen. So the Texans led by
Davis Mills eighteen yards, three touchdowns, no picks. That's a
one hundred and fifty four point to pass a rating
for the rookie out of Stanford. So I don't know,
what do you what You've got phill in New England
(01:35:46):
kind of figured out this Houston Texans offense and find
out how they can slow him down. Yeah, that's gonna
be the key is their defense getting stops against this
Houston offense who have really been varied and done a
nice job mixing in some some shots plays, especially from
this area of the field, you know between the forties
they hit on that flea flicker for a touchdown. So
(01:36:08):
here in the fourth quarter, obviously well into the second half,
New England starting to catch up on those two consecutive
field goals. This game could tip in the balance toward
New England. If there's one thing you could say about
New England, this stems back all the way to their
Super Bowl against Atlanta Falcons, and well well before that
is there really never out of a ball game. You
(01:36:29):
just the the only enemy is the clock. They can
play catch up, they can play from behind and uh
and that's exactly what they're gonna need to do. Trailing
by seven points here with fourteen seventeen left in the game. Yeah,
one game I'm curious about. The Vikings are leading the
Lions thirteen is six. Vikings are ten point favorites at
home in this game. Got about eight minutes ago in
(01:36:51):
the fourth quarter, and I'm like, why are they not
winning this game? More? I'm looking around. I'm looking for
some stat right, maybe third down efficiency, and there's nothing there.
I mean, Kirk Cousins is twenty one yards a touchdown
to pick, Alexander Madison has a hundred and four yards rushing.
Detroit's not doing much of anything, and yet they're still
(01:37:11):
in this game. It's thirteen six Vikings over the Lions.
This is a Vikings team that a year ago I
had predicted might be a breakout team. Uh. And we
mentioned earlier that Mike Zimmer could be on the hot seat.
By the way, they have a superstar justin Jefferson. I mean,
last year he's had a rookie record for receiving yards.
Today he's got seven catches a hundred and twenty four
(01:37:32):
yards in this game. But something's missy well for this
Vikings team, right, The Vikings are stacking up a significant
number of penalties and those are drive stallers, you know,
even though the the I mean, look, the third down
efficiency isn't great, but it's not bad. But even when
you're converting third downs, if you get in a situation
where you have an unforced error or a penalty on
(01:37:54):
first down, I mean, that's gonna lead to a punt,
all right. The Bengals were facing a third and goal
defensively against Green Bay and they held. So Mason Crosby
has now come on to attempt at twenty two yard
field goal for green Bay and it is good. So
now green Bay with an eight point lead on the road,
even to go in the fourth quarter at Cincinnati, and
(01:38:18):
suddenly the Bengals offense they had the big play right
before the half, the seventy yard touchdown passed from Burda
to Chase, But they haven't scored a point in the
second half. Is that a problem with the Cincinnati's offense
or is this green Bay defense starting to show up
right now? Well, green Bay's defense may have kind of
been asleep at the wheel in the first half. If
you remember, Green Green Bay has played later in the
(01:38:41):
day or into the night, prime time a lot to
begin this season, and sometimes that can effect one side
of your football team more than the other. This defense
may have just woken up and got their pads on
and ready to play for the first time. That really
is something that is underdiscussed. But football players are huge.
You have a different wake up time. You're playing in
(01:39:02):
a different part of the day, you played differently. Washington
football team facing a third and goal situations right now,
Heineke throws to the end zone. It has broken up
by the sat Saints lead this game twenty to thirteen,
so fourth and goal. Most likely we'll see a field
goal attempt for the Washington football team. All right, we
got that game and only no I. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay
(01:39:24):
uh continues to lead Miami by a score of thirty
one to seventeen. By the way, in this game, Jacoby
ber set not terrible eight yards, two touchdowns and a pick.
There of course been without to a tongue of Voloa
got hurt early in the season, and all all off season.
We kept thinking, all right, this Miami team's got all
(01:39:44):
the pieces in place. They got a defense, they got
a bright young coach and Brian Flores, they got good
special teams, but they are lacking a little bit at
the quarterback position. But they're staring at a one in
fourth start right now. I mean, nothing really looks good
for Miami at this point of the season. Look, I
was disappointed in Miami last year when they benched Ryan Fitzpatrick.
(01:40:04):
He was the better quarterback last year, and I understand
to him, might be your future, or you felt that
way last year. But I I I couldn't conceive of
a reason why they would do that because Two went
out there and struggled. He went out there, but they
won because they had defense and they had a lot
of things going in certain games. Though Ryan Fitzpatrick actually
came in in close games in the fourth quarter to
(01:40:26):
close out games. It was ridiculous. So I think there's
I don't know, front office or ownership pressure to get
too involved because he was a high draft pick or whatever.
But it has not worked with two. It and I
was I was seriously wondering whether or not they'd make
a move for Aaron Rodgers, whether or not they'd make
(01:40:46):
a move for Deshaun Watson in the off season because
he was discontented with the situation in Houston before all
the allegations of sexual assault came out. I mean, there
was a lot of buzz around them making a potential
change at quarterback in they didn't. They're stuck with their guy.
He got hurt. And now Jacoby Bursett is looking good,
he's looking okay. But my point is, would it would
(01:41:09):
be any better than Brissette right now? Not much. I
don't mean that. You just said it. Right. They've got
some weapons, they've got you know, they've got a strong defense.
But running the ball at all thirty four yards rushing today,
but they got a problem at quarterback. And and if
you're saying but the quarterback in in your outlining of
(01:41:31):
a team, that's a huge problem in the NFL because
this is a passing league. Now, all right, business as
usual for Tom Brady today, thirty five three or five yards,
three touchdowns, no picks. He's pretty good. Now, that's that's
a team that has no there's no but the quarterback.
You know what I mean, you're you're you're all since
up to that position for as long as he can
do it. And who knows how long? I mean, will
(01:41:52):
this guy play until he's fifty? He certainly looks like
he can. He's defying all logic with how he's been playing.
But you were drafted thousand and nine, which was Brady's
tenth year, two nine, tenth year in the NFL, and
now he's into his I'm losing track, twenty second year
in the NFL at a down retired now. Look, so
(01:42:16):
I'm retired now seven seasons and Tom Brady just won
his h what was it, his seventh Super Bowl? Six
super Bowl last season when they're nine years younger than him. Yeah,
so you know that makes sense. I mean, it is unbelievable. Alright,
Minnesota has added a field goal, so they are now
leading Detroit by a score of sixteen to six. Significant
(01:42:39):
because it was a ten point spread. So they're right
on the number right now. But let's Jared Goff, what
are you gonna do? Right? Uh? The Lions have won
one playoff games this nineteen seven man, I mean have they?
We we talked about who were the worst teams going
into the year, right Jacksonville, Houston? Uh, Lions are right there? Yeah? Yeah,
(01:43:01):
when liss Yeah, the Lions, Uh definitely down. The Eagles
are in the end zone. Jalen hurts a one yard run.
All right, very good, So Penny, they are they gonna
go for two here. It's been a rough day for kickers,
a lot of miss extra points and let's see what
happened there. It looks like they might have what happened there?
Did you miss the extra point? Again? They're kicking it
(01:43:24):
right now? All right, all right, so they're going to
kick the extra point. So fifteen twelve right at the
end of the third quarter right there, and the Carolina
Panthers hanging on to that lead. Meanwhile, Tennessee continues to
roll right now. They're up thirty one nineteen over Jacksonville.
Not been a bad day for Trevor Lawrence Effisi in
(01:43:44):
thirteen of seventeen hundred thirty nine yards and a touchdown,
no picks and James Robinson, this is a guy that
sort of flies under the radar. Hundred and forty three
yards rushing. He has twice as many rushing yards in
this game as Derrick Henry. After Travis at N went
down for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was the fantasy darling
heading into the season and it wasn't underwhelming, but wasn't
(01:44:07):
really the contributor that a lot of fantasy owners wanted
to see him be early on. He's starting to come
into his own a little bit. And I'm not saying
this is much of a ball game, because it's sort
of feels like the Tennessee Titans are gonna lean on
their run game and Derrick Henry is so good in
the fourth quarter typically, but if Jacksonville can get a
nice long drive in a score, they make this at
(01:44:29):
very least interesting. Alright, let's find out what's trending right
now as we welcome back to man with all the information,
all of it, every every single bit of it, less
drip drop of information. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I guess these
days we had to make sure what's accurate what's not? Yes, Dad,
(01:44:50):
By the way, we haven't talked about David. You're matching,
you're cooking technique with recently Ritchie. So what's what's going on?
Is there any all's at on hiatus right now? What's
kind of it on hiatus? This guy's a busy man.
He's voicing books. I know, he's everywhere. It's rare that
we see him around here. Anyways, very well, you know,
(01:45:13):
trying to do stuff, you know, trying to be on
air a little bit. Gotta pay the bills. You got
to pay the bills. Alright, so very good. I mean
I was thinking about I think about food when I
see you guys, yea, because we're fat. Right. Well, there's
a couple of guys who have multiple chi. It's a
(01:45:35):
little late in the show right now to think about
food around here. But I'm thinking next week is on me. Yeah,
so next week I'm gonna I'm gonna make the call.
Next Sunday, well, there's always time. We still got That's
what I want to know. Are you here next Sunday?
We got an hour and a half for you to
call in delivery. Not it's too late. So wait, what's
(01:45:55):
up with Denise and the cookies? Man? Alright, so okay,
but I need to know when you are going to
actually be here. I'll try to be here the following week, okay,
the following week. Then that we'll have a full cookie banans.
Try to make some time for us, Try to see
what I can do, and alright, your schedule okay, Honestly,
Sam and Ryan say, who cares about gastcott and bring
(01:46:16):
the food. I don't know, Ryan hasn't eaten for like
twenty five years. Good point really doesn't counts alright, I
I just witnessed a miracle. New England scored and tight it. Yeah,
they have caught the undefeated Houston Texans checked that one
in three two is to score to play in this
(01:46:37):
ball game, So hold onto your hats. Jaguars down by
twelve at home to Tennessee. Eagles down by two at
Carolina and the three quarters Washington trailing by Ford in
the New Orleans Saints, Tom Brady and the Buccaneers just
scored again. Pts up in good so thirty eight seventeen
over the Miami Dolphins. Mike Evans got himself into the
end zone as well. Denver finally got in as well.
(01:46:58):
A Teddy Bridgewater and fourth down and go to go
from the ten. Pittsburgh has the lead and the Vikings
up by tennis. You mentioned sixteen six Packers leading Bengals straight.
Now just converted fourth Den into the quarterback draw again.
This is the play they tried earlier. They got called
back with a hole. Yeah, this was a design draw
(01:47:20):
in Borough just barely got love it. But they're down
by eight so they need some help about six minutes
to play in regulations. Obviously a touchdown two point conversion
get that game bottled up. And then, of course, earlier
this morning, when we were all asleep, Atlanta wins in
the UK, beating the Jets. Cow Pitts nine grabs for
(01:47:41):
a buck nineteen and also a score of his own.
Top twenty five college football guys, Georgia's your new number one.
No surprise, where's Iowa on that care the fact that
they had to win a game without a let me
give it states starting. I will update you, Iowa, I will,
I will do. Georgia's the unanimous number one. Iowa's to
(01:48:03):
Cincinnati's three. I'm surprised. Oklahoma four Alabama drops to five.
Would be the worst case scenario for the college football playoff,
right you had in the playoffs, the ratings would be
a disaster. The came a bad product. Cares about the ratings.
It's about the teams of people, obviously the ras as
the last time number two that would be Chuck Long. Yeah. Wow,
(01:48:26):
Cincinnati is at number three right now? Oklahoma Alabama five,
Ohio State six. Richie, your Nitney alliance dropped to seven
Michigan is eight. Ridiculous, Oregon is nine. Michigan State ten,
that's a five. My county's right one two three for
five Big ten schools in the top ten. Rich, you
(01:48:51):
do the San Diego State broadcast, they're undefeated. There's only
thirteen undefeated fps schools. They went from twenty five all
the way to twenty four. How about that? Yeah, they
went up to twenty four. They're over Texas and the
A people, over Clemson and the Yeah. All right, so
that's the latest with the college football rankings. David. Thanks,
we'll talk to you a little bit later on Alright,
(01:49:13):
we're watching Cincinnati right now. We're inside five minutes ago
in the fourth quarter. They're trailing the Packers by a
score of four team but they are on the move
right now, so it's a one score game. Jamaar Chase.
This guy doesn't miss anything. Nope, I mean, what was
this one? Probably couldn't catch anything in the preseason. I
haven't seen him drop a ball yet. He's been sensational.
(01:49:35):
And Joe Burrow, I mean, he's made him obviously his
favorite target, and he's just he's so quick and so explosive.
I was watching that, Uh, that that game against the Jaguars,
and he just he has a different gear, and you
hear a lot of people talk about that and what
does it mean. He he makes his move off the
line of scrimmage, but when the balls in the air,
he can actually put it into a different gear. It's
(01:49:58):
almost like rope a dope, like he's running at one
speed and then all of a sudden, wherever it's thrown too,
he's going to catch up to it and he leaves
defenders in his dust. It's fun to watch. All right,
we're inside four minutes ago. We're gonna keep it right
here on this one. Packers leading the Bengals by a
score of clock running three fifty nine second and one.
They are in the red zone right now. In fact,
(01:50:19):
they are down to the green bay. Give me a
look where I can actually see the yardage. I love
all these different angles that the eight yard line looks like.
So they're at the eight yard line with a second
and one burrow in this game twenty one two and
thirty yards and two touchdowns, and they're gonna run the
ball into the end zone. Touched out Bengals. That was
(01:50:39):
a thirteen play drive. It went for seventy five yards
and Joe Mixing off the right side rushes it in
for Cincinnati. We got a ball game, folks. Will they
go for the two point conversion and tie it here?
This is one of those times, Yes, you go for
a two point you're here. It feels like at home,
you know you go. I mean, even if you miss it,
if you're only down too. So the communication gonna be
(01:51:02):
good at the goal line here. You're not gonna have
to worry about crowd noise as much. Yeah, I I
feel strongly about going for it with this offense. This
offense also again have been on the field for almost
eight minutes in this drive. Alright, So the Bengals go
for the two point attempt three seven ago in the
fourth quarter, right now, and let's see what they call.
(01:51:23):
Is they try to even up this game against the
Green Bay Packers. It's gonna be a pass play. Burrow
look in the end zone, throws and it is caught.
Two point conversion is good, and we are tied at
twenty two. He finds Higgins for the two point conversion. Alright,
what do you got, guys? I have a buffet of
(01:51:44):
highlights here. Shall we start with the Eagles. Let's do it, alright,
Hey has the bucks of the eye. It's a little
far for a quarterback sleek, but he does sleeak and
he does punch, and he's awfully close. I don't know
if he got in. He's sending and it's a touchdown.
All right. So that's ninety four w i P. Eagles
(01:52:04):
Radio Network, And with that score, the Eagles narrow the
lead to fifteen thirteen Panthers. Right now, under thirteen to go,
shot comes staff to Jones with the format Lush throws
it to the end zone open Henry sliding rob touchdown. Patriots.
All right, well, what have you think There's ever been
a situation where we have two games going on at
(01:52:25):
the same time that are both tied at two. I mean,
that's not a score you zee very often. And yet
right now we have two games that are tied at
twenty two ten two. That's the Patriots Texans game and
also the game between the Packers and the Bengals. That's
gotta be a first. Let's here the Broncos finally showing
(01:52:46):
some life lay fake which water froze in the flat
catch touchdown. Denver Kendall him all right, k O A
A M, eight fifty A M and n point one
f M Broncos Radio Network. And it's been a long
day for the Broncos as they still trail the Steelers
twenty four to thirteen. Play action fake Soulbo Brady those
(01:53:08):
a deep pass downside toward Evans, toward up. It's a
clock ball touch stops, have a Parry Kens. There is
no stopping this Tampa Bay team right now. That is
ninety eight Rock and the Buccaneers Radio network. Alright, let's
see a little update on Tom Brady twenty seven or
thirty eight three or sixty one yards four touchdown snow
picks as the Buccaneers are blowing out Miami thirty eight
(01:53:31):
to seventeen. I'm Brady is ridiculous. I've come No one
talks about Brady is m v P. Well, it sort
of feels like the lebron debate, right every year Tom
Brady R. Yeah, I know he won't be you know, look,
there are certain players who get so he used to
it's a popularity contest and likes that Tom Brady. Kyler
(01:53:54):
Murray right now is winning it because he's he's the
new Ferrari on the lot and he's doing some in
maying like Lamar Jackson was a couple of years ago
against the m v P. It's the flavor of the year.
Man only gave Aaron Rodgers and m VP is not
exactly good flavor. Good old fashioned vanilla that like I
mean that that has worked for a long time in
New England and it's working down on Tampa Bay now.
(01:54:15):
I'm telling you, so we have eight games instead of
nine because earlier today we had the Falcons getting to
win against the Jets. We had a lot of close
games going on right now, like, for instance, the Saints
on the road against the Washington football team, Saints of
the Ball twenty to sixteen. They're leading in the game
despite the fact that Jameis Winson is just eleven of
twenty six passing into this game, does have two ten yards,
(01:54:37):
so some big plays sprinkled in and a couple of touchdowns.
But we got a couple of games tied right now,
a couple of games single digits, one score games. So
we got a lot of excitement going on around the
National Football League, no doubt about it. How about the
Detroit Lions, Can they come back all the way from
a ten point deficit. They've got the ball two minutes
(01:54:58):
on the clock. Fourth quarter, Yes golf facing a third
and ten inside of Vikings territory. All right, that doesn't
look promising down sixteen and six in that game. All right, Well,
we'll see how Aaron Rodgers response. Now the Bengals have
tied this game up twenty two, all three ago Packers
take over on their own twenty five yard line, and
(01:55:18):
knowing Aaron Rodgers, he will try to run the clock
and hope that the Bengals never get the ball back
and they hand the ball off. That's a big run
right now? Is that Aaron Jarons Jones stiff inside of
the Cincinnati Bengals. That was fifty yard run by Aaron Jones.
(01:55:39):
It started out innocently because looks like it's just like
a nondescript run up the middle. A couple of good
moves by Jones, and he broke free, got into the
secondary and rambles for fifty yards. I'm gonna see the
stiff arm here. I love great stiff. He just throws
him down. He makes a couple of Bengals pay with
(01:56:01):
their ankles and otherwise all the way down the field.
Look this running run rushing attack for the Green Bay
Packers has been good for years now. It's so good
they were able to move on from Jamal Williams for
crying out loud and free agency. He's with the Detroit
lines now because A J. Dillon and Aaron Jones have
been so good. Uh, and they go to them a lot.
(01:56:23):
So the Cincinnatis get tough hold on first down and
call time out. Tom Brady just through his fifth touchdown pass. Okay,
he's pretty good. He's piloting it on right now to
Mike Evans forty five to seventeen. That Evans touchdown reception Tampa.
You know, I was like, ah, you know, Tampa hasn't
looked all that good recently. You know, they lose to
(01:56:45):
the Rams, they barely survive, you know, their home today.
Tom Brady is from for four D, three yards and
five touch That doesn't even feel He's not even he's
not even in the conference. It's forty four years old,
all right. Let's hear the Bengals latest score. Burrow hands
it off mix and bouncing it wide to the right,
cuts back and takes it into the end zone. Touchdown.
(01:57:08):
Bengals three twenty seven on the clock. Now they will
line up and go for two to try to tie
this game. Burrow catches the shotgun snap, he's back to throw,
moving to his left, throws toward the back of the
end zone by t Heavens on the back line of
the end zone. It's at two point conversion. They have
(01:57:29):
My Bengals have tied it Night Bengals Radio Network. So
they tied it at twenty two. But after that big
run by Aaron Jones, Green Bay is in good position
right now, deep into Cincinnati territory to twenty to go
in the fourth quarter. There alright, some exciting finishes coming
up around the National Football League. Keep it right here
in Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Fox Red Zone Radio,
(01:57:57):
and we've got the place that you may have missed
caught by Evans. Take us a clock touch stuff to
have a Bay the block clean away from my chemicals
to score a second of the day. Piler Cannons now
back live to the studios of Fox Sports Radio. This
(01:58:17):
is Fox Red Zone Radio. Yeah, Tom Brady's unbelievable ninety
eight rock in the Buccaneers Radio network. Four hundred eleven
yards passing five touchdowns, blow up Buccaneers over the Dolphins. Seventeen.
But we got a lot of very close games going
on right now, so Green may put themselves in a
(01:58:39):
position for a very makeable field goal, but Crosby missed it.
He pulled it, so we're still tied at two. Clock
is running. Cincinnati has the ball, they're nearing midfield right now,
and that's a drop. That is a drop. Joe Burrow
put it on the money for receiver out to the sideline.
Was not Jamar Chase. I know it wasn't, and that
(01:59:01):
could have been an easy reception for first down, and
it is dropped. So it's now third and two for
the Cincinnati offense at midfield, only a minute left on
the clock. Meanwhile, the Patriots and Texans. Texans actually led
this game twenty two to nine. At one point, it's
tied to twenty two. We got two games tied at
twenty two to twenty three to go, and the Patriots
(01:59:22):
are on the move right now, so we'll keep our
eye on that. But right now, as you mentioned, third
and two for the Bengals, one oh seven on the clock,
Burrow throws the ball complete first down there into Green
Bay territory at the forty seven yard line. They're gonna
let the clock run. I'm looking. They have what one
time out left? Yeah, I believe they got all right,
(01:59:46):
so they have two time outs left, but the clock
is running. We're inside fifty seconds right now, and a
lot of clock is running. A lot of clock is running.
They're finally letting getting the snap off. Bur is looking
and throws it away in complete eight So clock stops
with thirty seven seconds. You basically lost about twenty seconds
on the clock. Al Right, do we have Broncos highlight.
(02:00:08):
Let's hear it. Bridgewater in the shotgun, loads it up
home round ball down the sideline. He's got something there.
Cartland makes up a late pink catch touchdown Denver. Alright,
so that is ko A eight fifty A M and
ninety four point one f M. Broncos Radio Network. Broncos
are getting blown out of this game twenty four six
by the Steelers. It's now nineteen Steelers three, twenty five
(02:00:31):
to go Pittsburgh with the ball. All right, so thirty
seven seven conds left. Right now, we got a second
and tent for the Bengals there at the Green Bay
forty seven yard line. Wing pass it out of bounds,
then about five yards On that play, it finds p
Ryan on the swing route and the Packers were playing
zone coverage, so he gobbles up about five yards on
(02:00:54):
the passing catch, third and five clock stop at thirty one. Oh,
you're not gonna believe what just happened here. So Minnesota
was leading Detroit sixteen to nine, and they just fumbled
the ball deep in their own territory. Detroit, down by seven,
has the ball and they have just scored a touchdown.
The Lions, with thirty seven seconds left, have just scored
(02:01:17):
a touchdown. An extra point will tie this game. Told
you that it was essentially trying to run out the clock,
and they fumbled and Detroit recovered and they've just gotten
in the end zone. So they're extra point away of
tying this game with thirty seven seconds ago. Mike zimmers
in Deptrow. Oh, they're going for the two point conversion.
Dan Campbell wants to win this game. Jared Goff drops back,
(02:01:40):
looks to the end zone, fands a receiver. Two point good.
Seventeen sixteen in Minnesota, Marie, seven seconds left on the clock.
It is just out of nowhere. I mean, this game
was all Vikings. It was sixteen to six, they gotta
they got a field go to make it sixteen to nine,
(02:02:01):
and then the Minnesota fumble, Detroit touchdown the two pointer,
and the Lions lead seventeen sixteen with thirty seven seconds ago.
Look out, Mike Zimmer, alright, uh we got we got
eighteen thirteen here Panthers leading the Eagles with four minutes ago.
Keeping an eye there. In fact, Carolina is got to
(02:02:22):
give up the ball on a fourth and three situations,
so the Eagles have a chance to get right back
in this. Alright, So we got a lot of things
happening all at once. Let's try to get our heads together.
Had a Washington did put in Antonio Gibson his second
touchdown of the game, so they brought it within five.
They went for two, I believe, and failed there. So
they're all right. So the Washington football team still trailing
(02:02:43):
that game against the Saints by five right now in Washington.
That is unbelievable for Detroit looking for their first win
of the year. And I was looking down just it
was a seven point game. Vikings essentially just trying to
run out the clock, and they see this correctly. The
Philadelphia Eagles just blocked a Carolina Panthers punt of tests,
(02:03:04):
recovered the punt block and have the football hold on. Yeah, alright,
so yeah, there's easy blocked. By the way, I just
opened up like party in the Red Sea, right there,
easy block. So the Eagles have the ball down five,
in great shape. All right. So where do we are
(02:03:26):
in the Cincinnati game right now? It's twenty two all
Bengals still have the ball, uh, twenty six seconds to go.
Apparently there is a time out right now. Uh, and
the Bengals are facing Let's see here a third and
five situation. Third and five for the Bengals, tie twenty two,
all with the Packers there at the Green Bay forty
(02:03:48):
two yard line. All right. As you can tell, we
got a lot of exciting finishes coming up around the
National Football League. For all the latest, just keep it

so I just want to mention here at the top
were brought to you by one of our favorite cities,
Las Vegas, the greatest arena on Earth. Every game, match, racing, competition,
it is always on. Whoever you root for, whatever your

(02:04:30):
today a visit Las Vegas dot com. We just talked
about the Detroit Lions taking a seventeen sixteen lead after
a Vikings fumble set them up for a touchdown and
a two point conversion. That's right, there was thirty seven
seconds ago. No problem for the Vikings. They took over.
Kirk Cousins completed several passes and the next thing you know,
(02:04:54):
Joseph winds up for a fifty four yard field goal
and he made it by the way mass your full
hurry up offense job by Kirk Cousins, Mr Prime Time.
He connected on several fifteen plus yard past attempts to
feel in and uh and they they found their way
down the field and and banged the fifty four yard
(02:05:16):
for the victory. Here is the call of that winning
field goal fifty four yard trial left hash sound spot
Joseph excellent way get up there. Yes, it is Minta
Vikings help the seed at the Detroit Lions nineteen seventeen.
(02:05:42):
You're the man, Kay Fan Innneapolis and the Vikings radio network,
So that game is in the books. Other finals in
Tampa Bay has defeated the Dolphins forty to seventeen. Brady
four and eleven yards passing five touchdowns. The Patriots come
all the way back from a twenty two to nine,
Deafen said, as they beat the Texans twenty five to
(02:06:05):
twenty two. Davis Mills was outstanding over three yards passing
three touchdowns for Houston, but it wasn't enough. Belichick and
company came back in a huge way, huge win for
the Patriots, by the way, to salvage that game. Meanwhile,
we have gone to overtime with the Bengals Packers. So
the Green Bay Packers attempted the field goal, missed to
(02:06:27):
go to overtime. Bengals take the field. Well, the Bengals
also missed the field Joe Burrow ends up throwing an
interception on what wait, was it called called an interception
on that last play? No, it wasn't. It wasn't. He
threw it right to him. Yeah, that wasp Packers have
the ball now, so green Bay is first and ten,
(02:06:48):
well within Cincinnati territory. Alright, so let's update. It's actually
now second and eleven for green Bay. So what happened
was we had a Bengal miss field goal and then
Aaron Rodgers, as usual miracles, they got him into position
for a Crosby fifty one yard attempt that he missed,
and that's how we got into overtime. Burrow throws the interception.
(02:07:10):
Packers have the ball right now, nine oh seven to
go in the overtime. They have a second and eleven,
and because Cincinnati had the ball first, all green Bay
needs is a field goal, just the scoring. You need points,
and that's it. So there's at the eighteen yard line
right now, and they just hand the ball off for
(02:07:31):
a five yard loss. How do you have a straight
handoff for a five yard loss? Another ending to keep
an eye on right now, the Broncos currently going for
fourth and goal, down by eight with seventeen seconds left
and Caroline end zone, and it is intercepted, and so
(02:07:51):
the Steelers seal the wind. There eleven seconds left on
the clock. They'll kneel on the ball at the twenty
five yard line after the touchback in here he is
the field goal attempt. He missed it a good no no, no,
no no was the previous layer. Mean, it's like Crossby Campus.
Another one Kenny, forty yard at tamp and there's a
time out for the Bengals to freeze him. All right,
(02:08:12):
it was like Crosby Campus. Another kick, Kenny, here's the
Eagles big score. Hurts, Hurts his back, he gives it,
he keeps it, and he runs in. He fights the
centers and he runs in for the touchdown, and the
Eagles takes the first lead of the game. And the
gun it's Hurts. Here comes the rush. He pulls away,
(02:08:33):
he looks, he fires, and it's too is He has
the Van Smith nine yards deep. What a great play,
what a great play, flight Hurts at Smith. W i
P Eagles Radio Network. So the Eagles leade eighteen over
the Panthers. Again, we're trailing most of this game, and
they have the ball. Hurts the throng for a hundred
(02:08:55):
nine and eight yards. He's also run for thirty one
and hang on, Mason Crosby, you lining up for the
field goal. Forty yard field goal to win the Packers
wide left, it is no good. On third and fifteen
in overtime, it is good. This is just a nightmare
for Crosby. So the Bengals regain possession at territory with
(02:09:21):
eight minutes left and overtime score still tied. Well, I
can not believe he just missed it. That's unbelievable. He
is after he missed an extra point. He's missed three
field goals and Mason Crosby is an absolute mess. Right now,
we are still tied to twenty two, eight oh eight
left in the overtime. Bengals will get the ball. All right,
Let's see how the final scores coming up right now?
(02:09:44):
So we mentioned all right, here's a couple of more
games late. Uh Titans leading the Jaguars thirty seven and nineteen. This,
of course is Urban myers first game back after his
u transgressions has not gone well for the Jags are
about to fall to oh and five on the season.
I mentioned the Eagles right now leading over the Panthers.
(02:10:06):
They have the ball. Saints are leading the Washington football
team thirty three to twenty two. Washington has the ball
down eleven inside three minutes to go, and it is finals.
You mentioned the Steelers have beaten the Broncos twenty seven
to nineteen Teddy Bridgewater after a slow start in with
two yards passing two touchdowns for Denver Big Ben at
(02:10:28):
a nice day, fifteen yards and two touchdowns for Pittsburgh.
Most likely final offensive play for the Washington football team,
who trails by eleven. Uh, fourth and ten opportunity and
it is incomplete out of bounds and the Saints will
resume at the fifty yard line, and I would imagine
(02:10:49):
they can run this out. You would imagine, let's see timeouts. Well,
Washington has all three time outs, so they might be
able to get the ball back. All right, We're gonna
have a third down situation right now for the Bengals. Meanwhile,
they're showing Mason Crosby, the silver Fox on the sidelines
distraught and he is just like shaking his head, like
what is going on? Third and two for the Bengals
(02:11:10):
right now? Uh? Inside seven minutes to go in the overtime,
it has been just one missfield goal after another. Joe Burrow,
he's been using that quarterback draw a lot in this
third and two there at their own thirty seven yard line.
But that's been sort of there down the near sideline
here he was looking for Jamaar Chase caught the ball
(02:11:30):
but out of bounds. The Green Bay Packers were waving
feverishly like he didn't get his feet in. Multificials say
he is out. Look at that shot right there. That
is close, a little bit of a tiptoe on the sideline.
I don't know did he get both in. That's a catch.
That looks good. I don't know what they're looking at. Yeah,
(02:11:54):
that angle says he caught that ball the first That
is a that's a catch they're gonna have. They're gonna
review this one for sure. I can't believe it's mid day,
early October and a Cincinnati Bengals home game has me
on the edge of my seat, like, what is going
on again? My my biggest takeaway win or with loser
(02:12:15):
the Bengals is there for real. They've got a lot
of weapons on this Bengals team and they can be
competitive with some of the better teams in the league,
which the Green Bay Packers are. So they did reverse
the call. It is first down for the Bengals. Now
we had six thirty eight to go in the overtime.
They are at the green Bay forty one yard line,
and they're now inside the forty on a short run.
(02:12:36):
But nothing assured with these kickers. We've just had a
wild day. But we know at least six missed extra
points today, at least six field goal attempts. Wow, a
couple more field goals, I mean. And mc pherson who
had the game winner not too long ago. Uh he
he hits one off the upright on a thirty five
yard attempt. That's what helped push this game unto overtime.
(02:12:59):
I eat us who took the lead late over the Panthers,
and they are second down there in the red zone
of Carolina. So one thirty eight to go, and the
Eagles look like they are in control here. However, if
they can be held to a field goal, obviously it
would get the Panthers an opportunity. All right, The Bengals
will continue to run the ball right now, they got
(02:13:20):
a third down coming up. They're inside the thirty five
yard line of Green Bay. But don't count on anything, folks,
not in this game. Anytime a kicker comes onto the field.
There's gonna be a big question mark in this one
for sure. Alright, already, we're getting ready for some of
the afternoon games. In fact, a couple of them are
already underway. That would be the Raiders hosting the Bears,
(02:13:43):
and the Browns on the road against the Chargers. No
score early on in those games. And then shortly we'll
have the Cowboys hosting the Giants. Cowboys looking real good now,
and of course the undefeated only undefeated team left in
the NFL, Arizona hosting the third down for the Bengals,
and looks like they did they get the first down.
(02:14:06):
It's close, it's right at the it is inches here, alright.
So we are at four fifty five and counting in
the overtime, tied to twenty two. It's gonna be a
fourth and one. So McPherson is going to come on
the field for the Cincinnati Bengals. Will get you an
attempt length theory in a moment, all right. So here
(02:14:26):
we go. This one is going to be a yard
to win this game four the Bengals, and the kick
is up and this one looks like it's another good
it hit the flag. I'm not even kidding. I think
(02:14:48):
just at the last a gust of wind blew as
the ball was in its approach and the ball actually
hit the flag on the outside of the upright Well
wait a second, now they're now they're looking at They're like,
wait a see and hit the flags miss. He celebrated accidentally,
and people are like, what what all right? What what
(02:15:11):
is that? Five straight miss kicks? What are we looking at?
In that green Bay Cincinnati game. I've never seen that before.
I've never ever ever seen a football hit the flag
on an upright down thinking he had hit it to
the arms of his holder the and they were like,
they're all celebrating. Oh, no, no, and no it was
(02:15:37):
not good. It was wide left. Wow. That was a
full blown celebration going on. All right. So we got
four fourteen to go in the overtime. Green Bay now
will take over, by the way, in pretty good field
position for Aaron Rodgers. Sort of feels like this is
how every green Bay Packers game finishes. Aaron Rodgers on
the field with just minutes left, need to score. Well,
(02:15:59):
they've fortunately they got a kicker right now that spooked
and Mason Crosby he keeps missing. Uh there at their
own thirty nine yard line, and first play is an
incomplete pass and Rogers is scream and where's the interference?
Looking for looking for interference on Davante Adams, who I honestly,
I felt that was clean defense. He ran the slant
(02:16:20):
safety over the top, very minimal contact. So second and
ten for the Green Bay Packers. Alright, final score. Titans
beat the Jaguars thirty seven and nineteen despite two hundred
and seventy three yards passing from Trevor Lawrence. Derrick Henry
in this game had a hundred and thirty yards rushing
and three touchdowns. Continues his record pace. All right, little
screen pass for the Packers right now, trying to pick
(02:16:42):
up some yards, and they do. They're into Cincinnati territory.
Four minute mark of overtime and they're down to about
the forty one yard line of Cincinnati. Nice little tight
end screen here. They pick up a good amount of
yardage there and they are close to field goal territory,
although who knows what that means anymore. All I know
is territory in Cincinnati, Bengals. My'm Aaron Rodgers. Right now,
(02:17:06):
I'm taking matters in my own hands. Forget Crosby. We
need a touchdown. Oh I thought, you man, he's going
to kick the next field I mean there's no way
right now. Crosby is so spooked you can't bring it
back out there. I don't think you gotta go for
the touchdown here, I don't think. I think he takes
some shots at the end zone right now, line four
yard line of the Cincinnati Bengals, over time, only four
(02:17:29):
minutes left, and they hand the ball off to the
right side. Just a waste of a down right there.
Clock is running three fifty three, fifty two and counting. Actually,
we're at three forty. This we've got We've got the
game on multiple TVs here, folks, and one of them
is about ten seconds ahead of the other. So this
one here is right on. It's at three thirty and counting.
(02:17:49):
We got a second and ten for the Packers there
at the forty two yard line of Cincinnati, and just
a crazy game between the Bengals and the Packers and
Rogers looking down the field, and that's brutal. Wow. Forty
eight yard line now, Wow. Sets them up for oh
long conversion if they want it, because there is I'm
(02:18:12):
smelling the game and the way this game has gone,
and ty would almost be in appropriate. Oh yeah, yeah
at this point. Yeah, you normally don't like to see ties,
but maybe this would be for the best mercy for
both these teams. Right now, By the way, Saints have
the ball, they're at thirty three twenty two minutes, sixteen
to go. Looks like they have a victory secure against
(02:18:34):
the Washington football team to move to three and two
on the season. And the Eagles have defeated the Panthers
eighteen Jalen Hurts leading the comeback in that game as
the Eagles go to two and three and the Panthers
are three and two. All right, third and sixteen right
now for the Green Bay Packers, and they've called a
time out to thirty three to go. All right, we'll
(02:18:57):
continue on get to the end of this game. Gets
you ready for all these other games just underway around
the NFL. Keep it right here on Fox Sports Red
Zone Radio. This is Fox Red Zone Radio, and we've
got the place that you may have missed. High snap
pristman made Jack Pie mccuerson of the uprights and it
(02:19:20):
clangs off the left side. No good, no good. It
appeared to climb off the left top right. Somebody put
up plate of class on these uprights, and nobody can
make a field goal. Now back live to the studios
of Fox Sports Radio. This is Fox Red Zone Radio,
(02:19:43):
all right, So that was Packers radio network. So here's
an update. So the Packers had a third and sixteen
Rogers complete the past. It was ruled that they were
just short of the first down. They reviewed the play
and it was upheld. Fourth and inches for the Packers
were at the two minute warning of the overtime right now,
(02:20:05):
and we just saw Mason Crosby walk onto the field.
If he's attempting the field goal and he's been missing
all over the place, this would be roughly a forty
eight yard field goal attempt. So Rich, I ask you,
fourth and inches, Aaron Rodgers, do you go for it?
This is a forty ninety of a forty nine yard
field goal attempt for Mason Crosby, who has missed an
(02:20:29):
extra point today. He has also missed three field goals today.
Is this the right move? I mean, I'm sneaking it right, yeah,
I I don't know. I don't know, man, this is
um he has missed. He had actually had a stretch
of twenty seven SECONDI field goals made. He's missed three
(02:20:50):
in a row, plus an extra point. Here's the kick,
forty nine yards. It looks perfect. Get over packers win.
Crosby shuts us up and I'm talking, and you say
fourth and inches, I mean it is inches inches. Well,
that's a lot of faith in your longtime kicker Mason Crosby,
and he delivers. After missing three straight field goal attempts,
(02:21:12):
that one was perfect, right down the field goal to
forty nine yards for the win in overtime. And by
the way, how about Randall Cobb catching the past that
sets up Crosby for the field goal. Uh. Aaron Rodgers
not just a great uh quarterback, but also a tremendous
general manager. That was a pickup that he had a
lot to do with this offseason. So green Bay wins
(02:21:34):
advanced to a four and one record and the Cincinnati
Bengals fall to three and two after a hard fought game. Wow,
what a win for green Bay. So Aaron finished. Aaron
Rodgers finished the game twenty seven and thirty nine three
and forty four yards to touchdowns in a pick. Aaron
Jones big gay on the ground. He had fourteen carries
a hundred and three yards rushing. You want some fantasy stats,
(02:21:57):
try to Vante Adams onfer size eleven catches, two hundred
and six yards and a touchdown or Green Bay. Meanwhile,
Cincinnati Joe Burrow twenty and thirty yards, two touchdowns, two picks,
a second pick was a big one. Uh. And then
Jamaar Chase the rookie out of l s U Big
Day six catches, one hundred fifty nine yards and a touchdown.
(02:22:21):
But the Green Bay Packers come away with the victory.
All right, So that means the eight games that we
had in this time slot, plus the earlier game in
London are all in the books. Nine finals are in
around the National Football League, and just to check up
in all all these scores again, so Green Bay beating
the Bengals two in overtime. Earlier on London, the Falcons
(02:22:44):
over the Jets, twenty Vikings come from behind, beat the
Lions nineteen seventeen, Steelers over the Broncos twenty seven, nineteen,
Bucks blow at the Dolphins seventeen. Saints went on the
road at Washington thirty three, twenty two, Eagles went on
the road against Carolina, come from behind, Titans blow out
the Jacks thirty seven nineteen, and the Patriots come from
(02:23:05):
behind on the road against the Texans twenty two. So
two games that are rolling right now. That would be
the Bears on the road against the Raiders. We got
no score early in that game, and the brown has
taken early three nothing lead on the road against the Chargers.
But I'm looking up and I think the Chargers are
on the move right now. Chargers are on the move.
They face a third and eight early in the action,
(02:23:29):
and wow, look at that Jadeveon Clowney is out for
the day. He's been a huge factor for this Browns
pass rush up front. So it'll be Miles Garrett Rashawn
Slater the matchup to look at on the offensive line
versus this Cleveland Browns defensive line. Shotgun snap with the
split backs for Justin Herbert looking for the sideline toss
(02:23:51):
to Heckler. It goes out of bounds, but there's a flag.
It looks like there might have been defensive holding, so
this could benefit the Chargers all right, So very early
in the game, they're the Raiders are on the move
right now. Uh. Derek Carr off to a fast start
five and six and sixty one yard, so they are
now to the twenty inside the twenty yard line in
(02:24:12):
the red zone against this Bears team and that says
a touchdown. No, not the way at the last second.
Really wow, really close play there, all right? Also under
way the Cowboys and the Giants and the Cowboys. I
was mentioning this yesterday. The Cowboys are really flying out
(02:24:33):
of the radar. I mean, when you think about it,
they were within two points of beating in the Super
Bowl Chaps and their opening game. They're rolling right now.
They won three in a row, a couple of quality
wins on their resume. Dak Prescott is red hot. Are
we underselling the Cowboys? Is well, it's a team that
could emerge. Is the team in the NFC? Is that
(02:24:54):
way out of line? I mean they have a defense
for sure. Yeah, I'll say this. I'm not sure I'm
going to coordinate them one of the top teams in
the NFC yet. But what I've seen I liked, and
they're playing a really weak division. Look, the Giants, they're
not there yet. The Washington football team, they're starting Taylor Heineke,
who I think is a gamer, but he's not there yet.
(02:25:14):
Um as far as the Eagles go, look, it's just
it's an incomplete puzzle to they're the only team that
really in their division has a shot. It looks like
the Chargers are in the end zone. It looks like
the Chargers are in the end zone. Touchdown Chargers, all right,
So the Chargers have taken up six three lead, penning
(02:25:36):
the extra point right now. Look like a Herbert touchdown
pass I couldn't see was on the receiving end. It
looks like he found parum parum on that one so
tight end screen if I had to, the heck of
a run into the end zone. So the Chargers have
taken a sixth three lead, penning the extra point against
the Cleveland Browns. All right, let's find out what's trending
right now. Turn right back over to damn I gask
(02:25:59):
on p T S penny right now, guys. But it
is the Bolt six to three over the Browns. Cowboys
and Giants just underweather games score the same thing in
the Desert Cardinals in San Francisco that ballgames on Fox,
Raiders and Bears the same. But Las Vegas has the
football at Chicago's eight yard line, first down and cool
to go there. Patriots gotta one in Houston, Tennessee thirty
(02:26:20):
seven nineteen over Jacksonville Eagles defeat the Panthers coming from behind.
That's a shocker. Twenty one eighteen Buccaneers got five touchdown
passes on the day from Tom Brady, two to Antonio Brown,
two of them to Mike Evans. They throttle Miami forty
five seventeen. Denver falls by short eight points twenty seven
and nineteen to the Steelers, and the Detroit Lions almost
(02:26:42):
had it in Minnesota final second field goal prevail in
nineteen seventeen, Packers in overtime, Fellas beat the Bengals. That
is it, David, Thank you very much, great stuff as always,
all right, So the Raiders right now are knocking on
the door. They are in a scoreless battle early on
against this Bears team. Uh, Derek Carr, we mentioned five
(02:27:03):
for seven. Meanwhile on the other side, Justin Fields starts
this game, oh for two passing. Before the season began,
Bears fans were screaming to get Justin Fields on the
field as soon as possible. And it's been a rough
start for the rookie so far. Yeah, it certainly has
looked Justin Fields like all these rookies, and and I
(02:27:26):
I say this every year he's he's not ready yet. None,
none of these rookies ever are. You're thrown into the fire.
You're expected to produce at the NFL level. It doesn't
matter what you did at the college level. You're talking
about guys who have been playing ten years, multiple Pro
Bowls on the opposite side of the field, defensive coordinators
who understand how to attack you. Uh, it really is.
(02:27:49):
It's tough sledding in the NFL when you're a young quarterback.
And so it doesn't matter who you are and how
much success you got in college. Uh, you're never ready.
And Justin Olds looks that way. We got a Jacob's touchdown,
but it's gonna be called back, it appears because the
flag was thrown on the play. Yeah, Fields still looking
for his first NFL touchdown pass and with his over
(02:28:12):
to start today is completing less than forty eight percent
of his passes so far. So it's gonna be a
building process there. And I guess the thing about Matt Naggie,
the coach of the Bears, is is he the right
guy to tutor Justin Fields. You've invested a high pick,
You've invested a first round pick on the guy you
hope it's going to be your quarterback for many years
to come. What Naggi is trying to prove to the
(02:28:32):
Bears is I'm the right guy to get this kid
to where you want him to go. Yeah. Well he's
got a lot to prove here, and he's got almost
no time to do it because the clock is ticking
loudly in the background here. Yeah. So the Raiders all
the way down to the goal line against this Bears
team and it was a hold off of the right side.
So they're backed up outside the ten yard line now
(02:28:55):
as they set up for their second down play. Speaking
of rookie quarterbacks, Trey Lance first are for the forty Niners.
The second pass of the game intercepted, Arizona will get
the ball. So opening drive for the forty Niners on
the road against Arizona, Trey lances first pass complete for
sixteen yards. Second pass is intercepted. Uh, just like that,
So Arizona would take over Kyler Murray right now, the early, early,
(02:29:19):
early favorite for m VP honors because well, Arizona is
the only undefeated team out there. But yeah, this is
what happened again, Trey Lance, another rook I mean this
is This is a guy coming out of North Dakota State,
where he only played one game last year. He only
has one season as a starter at the FCS level,
and this guy's expected to jump into the NFL again.
(02:29:42):
You know, whether you're Trey Lance and you've barely played
at a low level college, or you know you're, you know,
the the Jacksonville Jaguar starting quarterback. You don't Trevor Lawrence.
You don't have a situation where you have a quarterback
who you can trust yet, And so the San Francisco
for prety Niners, You're gonna have to build an offense
(02:30:02):
around him, a lot of short pass, a lot of
confidence builders. Already run the ball. I had a fourteen
y in the run game. Yeah, those are the things
that he was used to doing a North Dakota State.
Those are the things you should start running offensively. As
the forty Niners begin to break him in as their
starting quarterback, mentioned that the Chargers were only really a
(02:30:22):
slight favorite at home today against the Cleveland Browns. Baker
Mayfield has been banged up the last couple of weeks,
althoughways off to a good start today and this this
they just broke a big play right now, it looks
like he found in Joku on a quick pass. Here's
a here's a staff for you. So we go into
this game where Cleveland is the number one rushing offense
(02:30:44):
in the NFL, averaging just under hundred eighty yards a
game so far. In this game, Nick Chubb three carries
for thirty two yards, that's ten point seven to carry.
Kareem Hunt three carries for twenty one yards at seven
yards and carry. This is a weakness of this Chargers
team is their run defense. It was lastingly before the
game against the Raiders. Uh and right now they're giving
(02:31:07):
up nine yards a run. That's the bad news. Here's
the good news. They play tough red zone defense. They're
able to bend but not break. And that has been
the the Brandon Stanley way so far taking over Staley
way taking over for the Chargers. That has has head
coach Nick Chubb just rattles off about an eight yard
every car. Every carry they have right now is like
(02:31:28):
a big play. So this is why a lot of
people were leaning toward the Browns in this game with
their dominant running attack, the two headed monster at Chubb
and Hunt going against one Achilles heels so far for
this Chargers team. Otherwise, Chargers got a lot of good
things going for him right now, starting of course with
their quarterback Justin Herbert off to a good start five
(02:31:48):
of eight fifty eight yards in that touchdown past to
bar him. But right now Cleveland just running the ball
and they got another first down. Well, I would stick
with that script, especially with an injured quarterback. Do you
want to feed and feature the run as much as
he can throughout the day? That short pass, saying Joeku
is exactly the sort of thing that Baker could handle
with the laborham tear in his left shoulder. And we
(02:32:10):
have a touch down Cardinals that looked easy, Rondel Moore
with a pitching catch and he took it himself all
the way up the far sideline dove into the end zone. Wow,
that is a speedster right there. Anyone that thinks that
Arizona is a pretender, I mean, you remember remember when
(02:32:33):
they signed A. J. Green? Yeah, you know, and they
signed J. J. Watt and you're sort of like, is
there any gas left in their tanks? They've got a
lot of talent on this heam on both sides of
the field and of course you got right now the
it quarterback. Let's hear the Chargers score perpet play action
(02:32:54):
right sets up a wide open Donald param he's got
a lane tied for the end zone. Much Chargers. That's
k y SR seven, the Chargers radio network. So the
Chargers with the seventh three lead against the Browns. With
the Browns are on the move right now, utilizing their
dominant running game right now with Chub and Hunt as
(02:33:17):
they move right down the field. And the other thing
about this Chargers offense is they they can't hurt you
if they're on the sidelines. So you run the clock,
you run the ball, You take your time getting in
and out of the huddle. If you're Baker Mayfield in
this Cleveland Browns offense, especially on the road. You know,
I'm not saying it's going to be an overwhelming fan
support from a Chargers fan base that's thin in their
(02:33:40):
own city. But they're gonna get loud for the Chargers.
They're gonna get loud when the Cleveland Browns are on
the field. Uh So, So try to control the ball
play a time of possession game. I think it's a
smart strategy so far. Early goings for Cleveland. Alright, Raiders
settled for a field goal to take a three nothing
laid over the Bears. What happened on Arizona? Was that
(02:34:00):
a touchdown? Or what happened there that you're asking? If
they took it off the board? Right? Oh? I didn't see.
Hang on a second, yeah, right now, it's nothing all
and the last we saw it was Roundell more lea
for them. They did not get the touchdown, so he
was down at the one yard line, is what they said.
So they have a first goal right now about the
(02:34:21):
half yard line. Murray a little pitch out and that
will get into the end zone. So now Arizona is
officially on the board. Touchdown James Conner and six nothing
penning the extra point. They're just a little toss sweep
there at the goal line and kind of rushes it in,
finishing up the work that rondel Moore had done on
(02:34:42):
that off left play to get them down to the
goal line. All right, So Kyler Murray in that opening
drive for Arizona, three for three, twenty eight yards and
Arizona looking to extend their undefeated season, sitting at four. No, Uh,
what do you think if I got to Vegas and say,
all right, I like to place a wager the Arizona
Cardinals being the last undefeated team in the NFL. Oh,
(02:35:04):
they throw you right out, and I said, your money
is all good here, crazy man, we're gonna get you.
I'm really ready to put some serious money. This is
this is why this we're talking about Kingsbury as a
guy in the hot seat before the season even began.
Is so special. By the way, the odds on that
we should have jumped on that one. I'm watching the
(02:35:29):
Bears right now. They get the ball back down three
nothing against the Raiders and game pretty well. They was
an illegal procedure. There was completely discombobulated. Um, now it
was a delayed game. Oh they called delay a game
before the illegal procedure because their tackle also jumped. It's
it's you're watching Andy Dalton on the sidelines right now.
(02:35:51):
If if Justin Fields continues to struggle and already on
this stride, they're facing a second and twenty two. If
you're Matt Naggy, can you just roll the dice as
long as you possibly can with Fields and let him
go through the growing pains, even if you're potting up
losses or do you put any Dalton back? What's really
strange about this narrative. Oh, another flag on the field.
(02:36:14):
We'll see if this is against the Chicago No, it's
a roughing the passer on the Raiders defense. That's a
disastrous penalty for the race. It's a really really poor
job understanding the circumstances. That was a bad call. What
is that? That was a bad call? Justin Fields barely
touched in the pocket. Kidding me. He didn't go high,
(02:36:39):
he didn't go low. It was in the on the side,
on the shoulder. How is that a penalty? This is
an overly punitive rule, and I hope it changes. But
we know that this league wants to protect quarterbacks and
it's a passing league. Now. That leg hit and by
the way, defensive lineman got pushed into Justin Fields by
(02:37:01):
his the offensive lineman who was assigned to block him.
So the way, the Chargers just stopped the run in
a big way. Against Cleveland, Cleveland had a second and
five inside the red zone of the Chargers, and I
believe that was a five yard loss. No, let's see,
you got a three tight end formation. Everybody's close single
(02:37:21):
back with Nick Chubb in the backfield. Yeah, and then
the offensive line just imploded. Drew Tranquil, the linebacker got
untouched and he got a straight shot and put him down.
So the third and ten for the Browns. Right now,
Chargers leading seven to three, and the Browns are at
the seventeen yard line of the Chargers by Mayfield looking
(02:37:43):
to the incomplete and we got a hold on the Chargers. Yeah,
that is going to be pass interference. Ball was in
there again, Tranquil. Yeah, the tackle for loss followed by
the defensive pass interference on Kareem Hunt. That's gonna give
the Browns a first down down seven to three in
this game. All right, we're gonna continue on. We continue
(02:38:04):
to give you all the updates around the NFL, all
the new games. Roll it on here on Fox Sports
Red Zone Radio. This is Fox Red Zone Radio, and
we've got the plays that you may have missed. Sorr
He takes quick pitch far side Connor into the ends
(02:38:24):
on touchdown and the Cardinals take advantage of the interception
by Trey Lance and storm down the field in impressive fashion.
Now back live to the studios of Fox Sports Radio.
This is Fox Red Zone Radio. All right, that was
(02:38:48):
seven FM, Arizona's sports station. The Cardinals taking a seven
nothing late over the forty nine ers, undefeated on the season,
looking to extend that. All right, I want to thank
our guy us today. Iowa Sam. He cannot believe it,
that's he sits here today. His Iowa Hawkeyes are ranked
number two in the country. Pretty hard to fathom. Number two,
(02:39:10):
and not since they're Chuck Long days back in the eighties,
they've been this rank, this high. So we'll see how
much further they can go. Although this Georgia team, I'm
just riding this train, Steve, you knows, Georgia unanimous number one,
and they should be. I mean, their defense free ridiculous.
This year. Debd Gas gone jumping in today. It's always
(02:39:33):
great to see him. He's so busy with a multitude
of jobs around the world and everything else and acting career,
and just for him to stop them by and slum
with us. We really appreciate just wasting his time, wasting
our time. And then producer Ryan, who was here yesterday.
His schedule is always a little alive, flexible. When I
(02:39:54):
say that, Ryan, is that right? It can be, yes,
a little bit flexible moves, but not not this ship
here for Yeah, that this is solid. But we got
a lot of moving pieces going on here at Fox
Sports Radio. All right, so some of the games going
on right now. The Cowboys have an early three nothing
lead over the Giants. Touchdown Bears the Bears. Wow, they
(02:40:15):
just got on the board. Is that Cole commit? What
is happening there? Did they finally get the Notre Dame
tight end involved? No, it's not, it's a different tight
end Committa, buy hold on. It looks like we got
a touchdown Chargers seventy two yards justin Herbert to Mike Williams.
(02:40:35):
Look at that seventy two yards and the Chargers, I
don't see any flags have taken at ten lead over
the Browns. Uh with the extra point penning. Mike Williams
seventh overall picked by the Chargers a few years back
after his great carent Clemson, had a lot of injuries
early in his current Look at this, he just ran
away from everybody. How do you have a complete breakdown
(02:40:57):
in the Browns secondary? The extra point missed? It was
the extra point it was hooked. Oh no, that extra
point was good in the Bears game was just by
this Kayans kicker. This guy's killing me. The score is
seven three Bears over the Raiders and it's ten Chargers
over the By the way, Browns, Yes, you have Jessper
(02:41:18):
Hornstead on your on your fantasy team. Oh, Jessper Horste Yeah, yeah,
that's who caught the touchdown pass from Justin Fields in
the back of the great rab kind of a little
bit of a hand fight in the back of the
end zone. So Fields on the board with a touchdown
pass in this game, Chargers really have problems with kickers,
don't they. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that sends back
(02:41:40):
to that Tristano just absolutely hooked that baby, not even close. Alright,
so Charges leading, But how does Mike Ways run right
through everybody here? I mean, I'm when I'm when I'm watching.
It's not like you don't know he exists. The guy's
a really big target and he just went straight down
the field. No one picks him up, and it's to
walk in. Well, he's got real elite speed, Mike Williams does,
(02:42:03):
and they're starting to use him instead of just on
the outside on those go routes and running off the
top of the defense off, they're getting him involved in
some of these intermediate patterns are close to the line
of scrimmage. He's catching run plays, and he's making defenses
hurt this season so far. All right, Baker mayfields a
perfect five for five eight yards and a touchdown. He's
off to a great start for Cleveland. Herbert is sixty
(02:42:25):
six eleven thirty yards and two scores as the Chargers
now have that thirteen ten lead. All right, Well, coming
up later on, we've got this Sunday night matchup. I
haven't asked you about this game Bills and the Chiefs
of rematch of the a f C Championship game. Chiefs
sitting all alone in last place in the a f
C West at two and to meanwhile, the Bills, after
(02:42:48):
that inexplicable second half collapse and they're opening against Pittsburgh,
have rattled off three dominant victories. Uh, Chiefs are a
slight favor in this game. The overunder is big fifty
six and a half. I think this game is going
to be an absolute shootout. What's your take on this
game tonight? My take on this game is the Chiefs
need to start playing defense, otherwise this is gonna be
(02:43:08):
a long season for them. I mean, it is a
prize fight. Every time the Chiefs take the field offensively,
they gotta slug it out with whoever is playing quarterback,
whatever the offense is doing opposite them, because their defense
stops nobody. And so far this season they've given up
a tremendous amount of points in their losses thirty points
thirty six points to the Chargers and Ravens, respectively in
(02:43:31):
their wins, twenty nine points in their opener to the Browns,
a thirty points to the Eagles in a victory last weekend.
A lot of those points came late in the game
when it was sort of already out of reach, you know,
a little bit of stat padding from Jalen Hurts and
that Eagles offense. But still, this this defense really really
struggles evenly matched. I like the Bills though in this
(02:43:55):
spot in Kansas City, and the Chargers went into Kansas
City and one, well, the Chiefs lose this game. I mean,
where where do they stand in the a f C
If if they don't win this game, because we've been
assuming they've been to the Super Bowl the last two years,
dominant team in the a f C, are they I
mean knocked off their perch? Let's see, I mean let's
(02:44:19):
let's think about who we like in the n FC,
The Chargers, the Bills. I mean, certainly with two heads
up wins against the Chiefs, you mentioned the Chargers. If
the Chargers can win today against the Browns, this looks
like it's gonna be a bit of a shootout right now, because, uh, honestly,
the Chargers defense hasn't looked all that hot as of
right now. But he gets down to quarterback play, and
(02:44:40):
you've got a guy like Justin Herbert, who, if you
don't recognize it already, he is already an elite quarterback.
Whether he becomes a superstar quarterback remains to be seen,
but he's already at the elite level. Yeah. And then
don't forget about the n f C North. I mean,
there there's a lot of competition. All of a sudden,
you look at Joe Burrow and what he's gonna be
able to do. I'm mean, it's still early. But then
(02:45:01):
the brown just broke off another big play, So not
much defense going on there. Hey, for all your NFL news,
keeping her on Fox Sports Radio,
