Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports. Oh let's good, nine lads,
it's best weekend of my life. Well, I don't know.
You did get married and you have a son. Best
weekend of my life, your life. And they barely had
enough people to storm the field in that Arizona game.
(00:23):
I was worried. I was like, there's gonna be enough
people there to celebrate with it. We need before people
came cratching out of the stands. We need another easy victory.
Next week, we need to play Oklahoma. I hope hopefully
Oklahoma is on the schedule this year. Yeah, yeah, I'm
sure that you would feel really good about that. I hope.
I haven't checked the schedule. Hopefully at Oklahoma next week. Well,
you'll probably get lucky and play another team that's got
(00:46):
what people out due to the that's what it took
me to win a game. I don't think I start
the offense three on the defense. I thought they were got.
They were. There was a talk that they even not
the forfeit that game. They only had like forty one
scholarship players that kid now for that game. Hey, a
win to win you can't take even if it was
(01:06):
what was it ten to three? Well was it what? Okay,
thirteen to three? What was the final score? I don't remember, No,
I don't remember. Even if I was celebrating so hard,
I forgot the score. You forgot the score of the
only win that you've had in three years for your
Arizona Wildcats. That's win in my life. To the best
(01:27):
of boy a few and far between. The final score
was actually ten to three, so I was right, you
buy much more. I don't know. For some reason, I
thought it was like fifty six to three. I don't
know why. It was always ten to three. Already it
was ten to three, and you needed that touchdown in
the fourth quarter to beat a team that was without players.
But you're you celebrate like and then not only did
(01:51):
your Giants beat my Raiders. I think you still claim
the Giants that I do. I do, but you're your
Miami Dolphins did something very unique today in the National
Football League. You know that is no idea. They were
a favorite that actually covered the Patriots, Chargers and the
Miami Dolphins. Now, the Chargers line had kind of gone
(02:12):
back and forth, but the Patriots, Chargers, and Dolphins were
the only three favorites that covered in one today aren'tie
if you include Tonight's Titans likely win over the Los
Angeles Rams, seven underdogs covered and one insane and nine
total underdogs covered. Person in America that had Jacksonville over
(02:37):
the Bills? Yes, who you had Jacksonville over the Bills? Well,
I told you Jacksonville was gonna win seven games this year.
I doubted me, did you not? Well that's two? So, uh,
they're well, you're you're trying to tell me, Well, you're
just on fire. I guess right now that you picked
(03:00):
Jacksonville to beat Buffalo. Not only that, I already told
you how which divisions were over before the season started.
And I'm I'm I'm like four out of five. I'm
waiting for Kansas City to make their run. They look horrible,
by the way, they still look bad. They still well. Anyway, Yeah,
you're you're you're enjoying yourself. You should. So let's dive
into it. On a very busy night here on Fox
Sports Radio, Bobo's running the show. Danny g and I
(03:23):
are licking our wounds after a tough one today for
the Raider. Steve Sager, I believe the Snakers on updates. Yes, yes,
I didn't get in the night off. Okay, as we
monitor this and Matt Verdam is coming up here in
moments to recap the day that was and kind of
dive into what we learned. Hot Furman back in his
a normal hour to slot. Next hour, we'll get into
(03:43):
buy or sell and all the fun of the post
game locker room sound an hour three. But Annie, what
really stood out in Week nine in the National Football
League for you? All right? Well? What didn't stand out?
I mean you talking about all the upsets? I mean,
do you start with the cow always the down? What
was the twenty nine nothing or something like that, or
(04:03):
they were just getting claw bern or it was nineteen nothing, um,
and they were getting bounced around by a Denver team, which, um,
we thought we were gonna roll over since they went
ahead and got rid of von Miller. So I was
absolutely shocked about that. Um. I was shocked the way
the Falcons were handling the Saints today. I mean, look,
I understand the Giants and the Raiders, and it wasn't
a big spread, but the way the Giants, um, We're
(04:24):
able to go man handle the Raiders a little bit,
that was certainly impressive. A lot of games you saw that,
and and the way the Cardinals went in the San Francisco.
What the Cardinals did to the Niners is man handling.
What happened to the Dodger are the wraithless to me?
What happened to the Raiders today against the Giants is
is Las Vegas basically and effectively shooting itself in the
(04:47):
foot so much it's shot its foot all already. That
that Cowboys Broncos game was actually thirty to zero at
one point, And I want to point this out to
just to make Bubba feel better. Every since you said, Mike,
cow Boys and they're going to the super Bowl at
the end of last week's show was when this slide started.
So congratulations that kiss him death. Like, Cowboys will turn
(05:08):
it around next week. Do you even know who they
play next week? No, but I'm sure, I'm sure it's
it's It's a very interesting stretch for the Cowboys coming
up because they'll play three games in eleven days next week.
And they had the Falcons, then they traveled to take
(05:29):
on the Chiefs, and then they have the Thursday Thanksgiving
game against the Raiders. So again, not trying to build
up Atlanta into anything they're not, but Arnie. That's a
pretty rough stretch for a six and two Cowboy team
who looked like after last week with their backup quarterback
Cooper Rush and having just one what was it six
(05:52):
straight games, looked like a team that couldn't lose. Forward
this about the Cowboys. Does today's game chays your opinion
of the Cowboys um before coming in or do you
just say I'm gonna write this one off and not
even pay attention to it. Does today's game change your
opinion on the Bills? I know on the Cowboys. I'm
(06:12):
so no, No, I'm asking you a question on the Bills. Yeah,
it does. Actually, today's game does change my opinion on
the Bills. Why Well, when they were playing a horrible team, well,
a lot of people thought were a horrible team to
Josh Allen had a couple of bad interceptions, one of
them by Josh Allen. Will get into that later on.
I'm sure. I'm sure you have all the stuff, the
(06:34):
clips of Josh Allen doing everything today. You don't, You
don't have to go to in depth. I just know
I don't think any less of Buffalo, I don't think
any less of Dallas. I don't think any less of Vegas.
I don't think any less of Green Bay and Green
Bay obviously with the Aaron Rodgers thing. No, I just listen,
we need jerk like crazy on Sunday nights and you
black out after the show and forget everything you say
(06:55):
and can start a new next week. That's that's an
amazing skill that you have. But this is a week
to week league. I mean, are you gonna come away
thinking that the Rams are done after this game is over? Well,
well that's well then just going back to the Cowboys
that I just say, so, yeah, I don't think it
changes my opinion of the Cowboys. I'm just gonna chalk
it up to just one bad games. Like you said,
(07:16):
that was thirty to nothing. The whole thing was crazy burned.
The tape don't even show what anybody get ready for
next week's game. Um. But I can't say the same
thing for Buffalo. Talking about that Buffalo game, I mean
just the way they struggled, I mean against the Jacksonville team,
and um, I mean it was just like, oh my goodness, man,
this is absolutely incredible because everybody thought they were just
(07:37):
gonna go ahead win by like fourteen and twenty one points.
And nobody saw this one coming. And they didn't even
score a touchdown against Jacksonville. So that's the part that
bothers me. I guess all the teams that seemed to
be involved in a critical move in some way, shape
or form, and I might I might leave someone out here,
but they came out on top. Right. The Titan lose
(08:00):
Derrick Henry, so they have to go get Adrian Peterson
and their defense is just laying waste to the Rams
right now. In fact, Titans are about to punch in
another touchdown. It's nine with three twelve to go on
the fourth quarter. The Browns move on from Odell Beckham Jr.
They absolutely positively roll the Cincinnati Bengals today and then
(08:21):
Arnie getting back to the Cowboys, they're going up against
a Denver team that we we just didn't know right
after moving on from von Miller. You know, everyone who
covers the Broncos said, hey, this isn't a fire cell.
This is a move to get some assets for von
Miller because they didn't know what his future was like
in Denver, and through one game they look pretty damn right.
(08:42):
So I don't I don't know, Arnie. I just it
was weird is the best way I can describe this week.
And I don't know, you know, in the history of
the NFL if we'll remember the wildness of Week nine,
But by god, with gambling so involved as it is now,
I don't know if we've ever seen a day with
as many double digit favorites and not only covered but
(09:03):
came out on top. But I think I think I
did see a betting slip for somebody betty fifty dollar
um money parlay um on Jacksonville to win, on the
Broncos to win. It was a it was a four teamer,
and of course he took the four underdogs. It paid
something astronomical. It was absolutely insane. The giants might have
(09:24):
been one. UM. I'll have to pull it up and
see how much you got it. But he made a
boatload of money on that well. And and it's interesting
because of of all the the underdogs, maybe the most
surprising was was Jacksonville Arnie. Most of them did it
in fairly convincing fashion, as Adrian Peterson a d hits paydirt.
So Tennessee adds to its lead. It's now twenty seven
(09:46):
and nine um, and there were seven point dogs seven
and a half point dog, and they're they're running away
with it. Now, the Falcons were six and a half
point dog, and it ended up being a last second
field goal. But if this was college football, that might
be the most impressive winn of the weekend because of
game control, because they pretty much controlled that game until
(10:07):
late in it. The Jaguars, I mean, listen, it was
a ninety six game. But I will mind you. I
didn't sit and watch all of that game, but I
never really looked at and thought, daying, the Jaguars are
gonna blow this and and they didn't. And the Browns
completely and totally dominated from start to finish, as did
Denver already. The underdogs not only covered and had a day,
(10:28):
but most of them did so in pretty dominating fashion. Yeah,
that's the part that surprised me, except, like you said, Jacksonville,
But Jacksonville winning is to be a dominating fashion, even
if it is by a field goal. But you're right
the way that I guess. I keep going back to
Denver um. I kept looking at that game. I'm like,
holy cow, what is that right? I got? I got
a double check the score. I mean, the Broncos are
(10:49):
just pounding them, not winning, but pounding them. And it's
not like Teddy Bridgewater put up like four yards or
something like that. They were just man handling Dallas. Um.
And you know, you say yourself, Okay, Dallas got Dick back,
then they're gonna put up their best foot forward. They're
gonna get a victory here. Um No, not especially at home.
It was it was a bad game for them, all right.
(11:10):
So your tweets are coming up as the show rolls
on tonight. You can hit us up at Stinking Genius One.
That's Arnie's Twitter feed. I'm at Plank Show and everybody
should be following us at Fox Sports Radio. Now, after
we talk to Matt, we'll dive into what we know.
But I mean, I I don't know if there is anything,
if there's that overriding theme from today, Arnie, outside of
(11:34):
the underdogs, right. I know that if if you want
to knee jerk, like you said, maybe more panic in
Buffalo than there is in Dallas. But since we're on
favorites falling, which which favorite should be the most worried?
Which team that got smoked today? Is it Buffalo for you?
Could it be the Rams were the way this went tonight.
(11:54):
Might it be the Raiders knowing everything that they've gone through,
even though they're adding to Sean Jackson. Do you fall
back now to a Cincinnati team that seemed a couple
of weeks ago to have everything going for it and
now they've dropped what their last three games and look
incredibly human. Who who is it that concerns you the most? Now?
The teams that has a favorite lost today? Well, I mean,
(12:15):
if we're just talking trickly divisions, I'm not gonna be
too concerned. If I was a Buffalo fan, because I
still don't believe in New England. I mean, the Jets
in Miami are not gonna make it run. So it's
gonna be a two team race out there. And I'm
still not believing that the Patriots are gonna get it done.
I mean since that and yeah they're five and four,
but now they're at the bottom of the division um
tie with Cleveland enough to work their way up, So
I mean that's gonna be difficult. I think the Raiders,
(12:37):
really though, if I was gonna pick one golden opportunity
to get away a moment um, you know, to go
to six and two, get back on top of that division. Now,
all of a sudden, they're tied with the Chargers right there,
half game out of the Chiefs and Denver, so that
divisions up for grabs out of all four teams. Raiders
have a chance to not separate themselves, but just get
back on top there. Um. I think that's fair, right,
(13:01):
And and so what happens next week? You're not worried
if you're the Cowboys just still got a three game leads?
Are I think the concern if you're the Cowboys, if
it if it falls into next week, if they play
this poor Lea again next week and lose to Atlanta,
and then you have Kcy in Vegas waiting, That's where
I would have concern. The concern for me for the
(13:22):
Raiders is that schedule going forward, right because it is
Kansas City next Sunday night. And and even though Kansas
City still looks like they're not firing on all cylinders,
it doesn't still look like they are not firing on
all forget about them, go ahead, what are the Raiders
doing right now? And then this three game stretch for
the Raiders is Kansas City, Cincinnati and Dallas. They too
(13:47):
have three games in eleven days, so I'm just I'm
I don't know what to make of that disaster for
Derek Carr today, he would not he my gosh, We'll
play some audio. He's like, listen, this wasn't ab out
the emotions of this week. I played bad. And I
was like, yes, yes you did. But is it something
you shake you get to Sean Jackson in there, you
(14:08):
get a vertical threat and help open opens things up.
Or is this a deeper rooted issue with this team
that just seems to be cursed this season. We'll dive
into it as the show rolls on. I would I
would also say, you know, lost in the mix today
was one favorite who didn't cover but did win, and
that was was Baltimore, who who, honestly, Arnie had had
(14:31):
no business winning that game today. Dalvin Cook had over
a hundred yards rushing I think in the first quarter,
and lo and behold, the Ravens are six and two. Now,
depending on what happens to the Steelers on Monday Night Football,
that that that that they get back to five, they
(14:52):
lose that now that with that loss, I think they're
pretty much over three and five football team grasping its straws.
Green Bay losers, but still has the three game lead
in their division. All right, when we come back, Arnie
Plank on a Fox Football Sunday, We're gonna talk with
Matt Verderam get his take on who should panic and
who shouldn't after Week nine in the NFL. Here on

(16:21):
up at Fox Sports Radio. Pund to be joined by
Matt verder M, of course, man cited love talking football
with this guy. Uh, Matt, Let's let's start with the
biggest game of the day in a lot of people's minds,
Green Bay falling to the Chiefs. Still, though I know
you have your questions on Kansas City. Everyone does step
in the right direction, though, didn't turn the football over.
(16:43):
And now I want to talk about the Chiefs. But
Arnie brings up an intriguing point on Jordan's love. Should
the panicle arm be going off right now for the
long term potential of a Jordan love. No, but he's
not good in this game. But I don't think it's
fair to just say well and long term is any good.
I mean, it's one game, and he played in the
game where he's had no real reps with the number
(17:03):
one you know that was It's a hard place to
play the chief defense. I know everybody in the national
throw until they stink. They've actually been much better the
last month, so I think that's a that's a hard spot.
He was under a lot of pressure. The Cheese blitzed
like crazy. He wasn't good. He certainly didn't watch the
game and go oh, they could definitely trade on Rogers season.
(17:25):
But I I don't think you'll watched it and just went, oh,
he can't he can't play. No, no, But mad if
I gave you a year plus to study for a
test and you came back and you failed the test,
what are you doing. I gave you a year to
study for the test. This guy's been holding a clipboard
learning from Aaron Rodgers. He got a D minus for
his performance today. Now listen, don't I'm not disagreeing how
(17:46):
he played. He did not play well. I mean the
Packers held the Chiefs the thirteen points, The Cheese basically
looked like they had a pop gun for an offense,
and the Packers really never threaten the entire games. I
think it was it was bizarre to say some of
that also happens because the Packers can't can't hit a
field goal. But he wasn't good. He was not good. Uh,
(18:08):
they're gonna need a heck of a lot more on
the hand once he takes over for them to be competitive.
The other side of it, Kansas City won a couple
of games in a row now, didn't turn the football over,
have a big chance against the Raiders coming up this week,
and the Raiders looked not good after today. I mean,
I know it's not where they want to be yet,
but positive signs for the Chiefs today. I think a
(18:33):
decent amount of them. Defensively, they're starting to play much better.
I mean, if you really look at their last month
of football, they had an awful first half in Kinnishet.
Other than that, seven of their last eight halves of
football has been fantastic. I mean absolutely lockdown. Nobody's scoring
a point on them. So they've been much much, much
better defensively. The problem has been for them the quarterback,
(18:57):
which is unbelievable. And saying about Patrick Mahole, but he
was grocious today, There's no other word yet all day
to throw the ball. There was at one point in
the third quarter he was averaging two point seven yards
in attempt and he throwing the ball times. I mean
that he ends at four point five. He played the
best football players in the last drive of the game
(19:18):
show the game. Um, if if Mahomes straightens out and
what is a wide open sc I did, they absolutely
can go to the super Bowl. But he has not
played like it and so excuge if they have to
beat the Raiders. If they don't, I think they fight
just to make the playoffs. You know, since the show
is tonight, and after what we saw with the Denver Broncos,
(19:40):
the way they man handled the Dallas Kansas City might
be the worst team in that division right now, I
don't know how you can say who's worst and who's best.
It's been so bizarre. I mean, you said to me,
you gotta bet your mortgage. I think Denver's the worst
team that division. Like all all the credit in the
world from beating Dallas that I think we all kind
(20:01):
of that's one of those games. It just happens once
in a while where don't look up at the score
of what what's going on there? I mean, it was
just it was a bizarre on Dallas. It's a punt
block and somehow Denver's up in the first down because
it was insane. Um, I think that that the Raiders
are a team that's gonna fight to make the playoffs.
The Chargers they win in Phillies and ugly game of
(20:25):
perfect play. Great, but they found the way to win.
But that next week's gonna be really interesting. The Vikings
are at the Chargers in a game that who knows
is gonna happen, and then you have the Raiders in
the Chiefs. I think the both teams in a weird way,
are gonna go with that games and we have to win.
That is going to be a very desperate football game
on Sunday night. No, I can't wait for it. I'm
(20:46):
excited about it. We're hanging out with Matt Verder ramp
Fans sided great follow on Twitter. What was it about
today that allowed underdogs to have so much success, including
both double digit dogs not only covering but winning. I mean,
is it just to one of those weeks in a
week to week league or was there something that seemed
to kind of connect him in your mind? Matt No,
(21:07):
I think it's just like the NFL loves to trumpet
its parody and sometimes that's overblown. But I just tweeted
about it right before I came on. I mean, this
year Anyone who says that they know who the favorite
is to win the Super Bowl, they're a liar who knows.
I don't know who's gonna But I mean, right now,
if he's just based off of who's playing the best
in both conferences, you'd probably say Arizona in Tennessee. But
(21:30):
does anyone really think, well, I guess put it this way,
if you were to say those two teams, would anybody
confidently bet some of money that they care about that
those two teams along up in the Super Bowl? No?
No way, right, I mean, Arizona has never even been
in the playoff game. We're doing this current regime in Tennessee.
(21:50):
I get a lot of credit beat the Rams, beat
the Chiefe, beat the Bills, beat the Seahawks. Would you
be shocked if if the Colts beat him in the
first round of the playoffs? Like, it's just it's such
a bizarre That's why I said that I said earlier
about the chief So it's not nuts if Mahomes figures
it out. Like to look at the rest of the
a you see the Bills just lost a Jacksonville Like,
(22:12):
I don't know what to do with that. The build
scored six points. It's a very very weird year. You know,
Matt operators are on hold right now. People want to
order their Odell Beckham Jr. Jersey's Odell Beckham will be
a what on Monday or Tuesday? You tell me. You know,
there's a good half thousand places you can end up
(22:34):
act to shift writing about this. I mean, the Saints
will be there. They need another receiver in the worst way.
They're a good team. Um, you know now that the
cap space doesn't make sense for them. But at the
same point, Mickey Loomis has never cared about the cap um.
You know, I almost wonder, and I admit off the
(22:55):
top this is a weird fit. Do the Bills make
the call? I mean, they have a lot of receivers,
don't get me wrong. They have no running game. Their
offensive line is a mess. The defensive line not like
I wonder if you just lean all the way into
that and so you know what, we're all four wide
every play because we can't run the ball for a foot.
(23:19):
I don't know. I mean, maybe it makes sense. I
think the Packers make I'm open for the Cowboys for whatever.
I just want to see the Cowboys have I think
they'd be more draped by all Right, Hey, Matt, you're awesome.
Always appreciate your time to wrap up a Sunday night
and can't wait to do it again soon. Man, Thanks Matt.
(23:39):
The Arizona Cardinals are the last one lost team left,
just like they wore the final unbeaten. The Titans are
all alone now atop the a f C at seven
and two, and they've gone four no against the Bills, Chiefs, Colts,
and Rams. Not to shap Steve the Sager comes strolling
(24:01):
in with everything going on in the world of sports.
What's going on? Steve? As your referenced, X Brown's wide
receiver O'Dell Beckham will go on waivers tomorrow, so he
could become a free agent soon. But if you're specifically
asking about Monday or Tuesday, isn't the assumption that nobody's
going to pick him up off waivers because then you'd
have to give him part of his salary right now?
Seven and a half million. Yeah, and Pro Football Talk
(24:24):
said they the reason why they were such negotiations the
past few days, as they turned part of it into
a signing bonus. But if you pick him off waivers,
still there's a salary remaining for the season, and that
would have to be assumed by whoever picks him off waivers.
So then right, well, I'm sure he would pass through
waivers then the next day and then he's a free
agent and then he can make his deal and that's that.
(24:45):
So looking ahead to that. As far as Dolphins, you know,
the Dolphins were in a matchup of teams that were
one and seven, not that the game looked like that,
but Miami ba Houston seventeen to nine, and there were
a combined nine turnovers. And then there was Matthew Stafford
tonight and he was the difference in the game, and
not in a good way. You're gonna look at the
(25:06):
stat sheet and said he threw for almost three hundred yards.
He had a touchdown late in the game. Yeah, Titans
won at twenty eight to sixteen. Stafford throwing two horrendous
picks back to back early second quarter was the difference
in the game. The first one looking just like Carson Wentz.
He was spinning around about to be sacked in the
end zone and he threw a perfect pass to the
defense straight down the middle and they ran it back
(25:28):
to the two yard line. So that was a quick
cash in touchdown Titans after that, and then the next
one literally about ten seconds later on the clock, Kevin
Byer twenty four yard interception return a pick six. So
you went from as the visiting team down three nothing
to up fourteen to three. And then they got an
actual drive the Tennessee offense late in the first half
(25:49):
and cash that in on a fourth and goal one
yard run from Ryan Tannehill. So it was twenty one
to three at the half sixteen. Titans get the win.
And yes, Adrian Peterson had a late one already touchdown
run for Tennessee. He had ten carries twenty one yards
in the game, but a touchdown. Who was that baseball
player that played in five decades? I think that's what
(26:10):
Adrian Peterson is trying to do. Yeah, like a Jim
Cott type or Tim McCarver him. I think it was
Mini Minosa or something like that. Oh well, technically he
did if you include pinch hitting at right. I think
his name's on the Hall of Fame Committee's list for
the next couple of months. By the way, we'll hear
that name again that any just brought up. Meanwhile, your
(26:33):
reference to Kansas City offense such as it is, but
they were playing Jordan's Love, so they got a home
win over Green Bay thirteen to seven. Love of the
Packers one late touchdown, one interception, Arizona one without Kyler
Murray and his bad anklet seventeen at San Francisco, the
Niners are oh and four at home. Chargers kicked a
late field goal to win. Twenty four. At Philadelphia, the
(26:54):
Eagles are owen four at home. Denver did lead thirty
to nothing with under five minutes left. They wanted to
Plas thirty to sixteen. Cowboys went over four on fourth
downs in this game. Giants beat the Raiders sixteen Derek
Carr one touchdown, three turnovers. Jacksonville over Buffalo in a
game with no touchdowns and twenty penalties, nine to six
(27:16):
Jags the final. Baltimore came back for an overtime win
against Minnesota. Cleveland and Atlanta each one on the road.
New England as well. Georgia and Cincinnati are still won
two in the new AP pole, but the new committee
rankings come out Tuesday. Michigan State failed the number eight
wake forces down to number thirteen in AP Kyle Larson
took NASCAR's Cup Series Championship, winning the season finale at Phoenix.
(27:38):
His title comes a year and a half after the
racial slur during the I Racing event. He was suspended
then reinstated just over a year ago. So this championship
comes in his first season at Hendrick Motorsports. He joined
him after he was fired from Chip Ganassi Racing after
his car sponsored said no, we don't know the gay
after those comments, and he spent the rest of last
(27:59):
year without ride in the Cup Series. Hendrick hires him
near the end of last season after seven time champ
Jimmy Johnson retires and the rich get richer, and they
have the champ this year in Kyle Larson and no
from the NBA. Milwaukee lost at Washington tonight one O
one nine. The Milwaukee Bucks are four and six. Injuries,
come on, the Milwaukee Bucks are four and six, or
(28:23):
if I have brought up the Lakers or what five
and five? It sucks no injuries, man, It's been a
horrendous week for the Lakers as well. Though back, I'm
glad it's just the preseason. No one pays attention to
the NBA until Christmas. Before Christmas, that's all good hey,

audio starting to roll in the editors behind the scenes
(29:04):
working through it. But I was, I was making a list,
but go ahead. Well no, no, I just I just
wanted to finish up. And I said about Jordan's love,
you know, and spending a year on the sideline. He
can spend two years on the sideline, three years on
the sideline. He wasn't gonna come in and be season vet.
You just can't learn on the sideline. And that now
(29:25):
you have your answer, not your answer. You can't learn
on the sideline. You've got to get reps. Holding the
clipboard and coming in after one or two or three
years is ridiculous. Well okay, um, good point. You don't
like that, huh? I just I disagree. I mean, it
happens it used to be on the regular that that
that's how things would happen. You telling me that Aaron
(29:48):
Rodgers is not good because you keep bringing him up
as one. Philip Rivers is another one who didn't play
in his first three seasons. Steve McNair, Patrick Mahomes didn't
play outside of one game his first season. Arnie, you're
taking this blanket take on Jordan's love because he had
(30:08):
one bad game today. Just because he's been sitting on
the sidelines doesn't mean that if he's been taking every
snap for the last two years he'd be any better.
It also doesn't mean to be any worse. I think
the reason I'm putting I'm so hard on him is
because when he did take the first team snaps when um,
you know, this whole thing was going on in the
off season with Rogers and stuff like that, it looked
(30:30):
like he was gonna play with the first team all
through the preseason. Also, um and it just looked like
he he's the heir apparent too, So I I was
just expecting it a lot. I mean, they're they're forcing
Aaron Rodgers out. If it was up to that, he
would have been gone, So um, you know, I feel
the way they're pushing ab out that they had something
really great there, and I was disappointed. Okay, pause, real quick.
(30:54):
What has Brian gutten kissed and Matt Lafleur constantly said,
when people like Arnie's and you're sick, what do you got?
You got playing? You gotta get him out there? What
have they constantly said? He's not ready? And you might say, well,
he's a first round peak he should go, but they've
been afforded the option to where he doesn't have to
play right away. They've got Aaron Rodgers, and you might
say they're trying to push him out the door, and
(31:15):
I don't know, and maybe they are. He seemed pretty
damn happy the last few weeks before this whole vaccination
thing came up, and we've even had the conversation on
this year's show that damn, maybe he's not going anywhere.
Maybe he's gonna stick around for a while. I don't
I don't believe that. But I'll go back to what
I said to Matt. If I give you a year
plus to study for an exam and you're coming and
just fail, and I'm like, what the hell you been
(31:36):
doing the last year and a half. He just came
in and got a D minus. I expected just a
better give me like a B effort when I give
you a Yeah, I've given you what fifteen eighteen months
to get ready for this one game, and this is
what you gave me. No credit to the Chief's defense
anything they did, Yeah, yeah, no credit to them at all.
(31:57):
I don't understand why you try to compare it to
like studying for a test. It's football. It's because you can't.
That's why I'm fighting it back right now, Arnie, I'm
speaking English to you. It's football. There's a lot that
goes into it. They're studying a defense that might be
completely different on game day than anything you've prepped for.
And yeah, you're learning from Aaron Rodgers, but he's not
(32:20):
even there on the sidelines to help you through any
issues that you might have. So I'm just he didn't
play well. But I'm not sitting here saying, oh, what
a failure on all ins. I mean, that's going to
be the narrative you're kicking it off this week. I'm
sure everyone's gonna have that same idea. And by the way,
I'm shocked you did bring up a good point. Did
Aaron Rodgers reach out to Jordan Love with some ideas
(32:42):
for the game plan this week? He said he did.
They said they've talked. They say what they talked about?
What a good luck to you. We'll see you later
on How long they talked for? I want to know
you know. Number one. Yes, it's a great point because
it's what happened. I'm not sitting here trying to say, well,
I studied for a test and got enough and you're
playing football. It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard in
(33:03):
my life. And you've said it like five times. People
like that one. Okay, Well, I don't think it fits.
You're talking about football versus studying for an exam. This
is not going to be the end game for Jordan's Love,
and it's not the end of Aaron Rodgers, who, by
the way, was playing incredible before everyone lost their mind
(33:26):
about the difference between vaccination and I don't know what
was what's the term that he used that through everyone
for a loo immunization? Right? I mean, now, all of
a sudden, he's the worst thing that anyone's ever seen,
and he's a horrible person, and now you can't replace
him with Jordan Love, because Jordan Love was awful today.
But Arnie, I don't know. I'm not ready to bury
the guy yet. That and I'm not going to get
back into the whole uh COVID nineteen shop, but that
(33:48):
whole thing that discussed the hell out of me one
thing we won't agree on, Chris. So we'll just have
to wait to see what happens next year. I'm percent
sure he's not going to be back with the Green
Bay Packers. Okay, I'm I'm still a hure that he's
got a grad hand. That's what they're gonna do. Um,
they're gonna fight. If Varney was the commissioner, if Artie
(34:10):
was the commissioner, you'd be firing people if they looked
at you the wrong way. So thankfully Artie's not the commissioner.
If you're the general manager, you probably would have gin
a lifetime contract. I don't Gervin Meyer at win today,
so thankfully you're not. But nothing's gonna come with of it. Uh.
Mike Florio, Peter King, Jason Smith are all gonna get there,
(34:31):
gonna yell and talk, and Aaron Rodgers gonna be back
in two weeks dropping dimes that's what's gonna happen. And
guess what, he can't get me out of wearing masks
because now that he's had me, he's out of the
protocols for the rest of the season until the playoffs.
So it'll be varied this going forward. When we come back,
let's dive headfirst into a wild week. That was to it. Plus,
(34:55):
Arnie likes to pat himself on the back about how
right he is a lot in case you've noticed. On
the of course, oh ja after for we're already wrong
and really wrong. We'll tell you next on Fox Sports Radio.

do you just sit outside and yell at your neighbors?
What are you doing with all this like retirement time
that you have. I'm booking flights and travel. I'm going
to Vegas, I'm coming to I'm going to Topeka, Kansas.
I'm going to Ohio, so I'm keeping myself busy. But yeah,
it did bother me. I I just felt that when
he lead everybody, I'm not gonna fly like everybody else
(36:02):
did because I guess by the letter of the law,
he's gonna give me some definition that he looked. But
I love when him, you know, he's like, I've done
the research and what was it? What was it? His
girlfriend said that she uses her own medicine or something
like that. Um, stop it, just stop. Um. You know,
people have been doing research for cancer and stuff like
that for fifty years, good research on the internet and
(36:25):
actors um after a month or two and decide that
you know what's going on? I have. The whole thing
is just disgusting a by the people at risk. I'm
telling you. Can you imagine if somebody um got sick
and died from his carelessness and a different subject right now,
I promise you that, UM, I will say, though I
don't know if politically petty g doubt people like playing
(36:47):
and others making excuses for Aaron Rodgers. The guy acts
like and know it all. He smug as hell and
got caught lying. The same people making excuses for Rogers
demanded to Lebron's vaccination vaccine Asian status easier for you
to say and uh voice hashtag bias no, no, no.
I I'm not here to defend him. I'm here to
tell you what the NFL is gonna do, which is
(37:08):
nothing and they'll fund. It's the reality of where they are.
That's that's what. Didn't you say that the NFL knew?
Isn't that what he said that? Yeah, I'm gonna have
to come up with a lawsuit on that if if
that's true, I I just lawsuit. This has been the
big topic. But when you say break all the protocols,
(37:31):
it appears as if you didn't wear a mask on
the sidelines, and that he didn't wear a mask to
a media setting. That's two of the eight Basilian front
Now I'm wondering how many others. I feel like you're
painting that with a very broad brush, and you know
you're bringing up lawsuits. I don't want to get us
in trouble either, Arnie. This is a very petty conversation
that's taken place right now. So clely petty g W
(37:53):
tweets on the show tonight and I can do no,
I can do more. Arnie is wrong like l J
right at Steak Ingenius one. I just wanted to remind you,
Arnie that you said the Patriots would only win five
games this year. Four team was in there at one point. Yeah,
and they they've been over a little little surprising, I
gotta tell you, though. Mac Jones is the difference there.
(38:16):
He looks see he looks like a season vet. He
looks like I thought Jordan's love was Gordon to look like.
So we'll see in due time if that happens or
if he gets to play again. But yeah, mac Jones
has done phenomenal job. I think the wild thing about
the a f C in general. And we're gonna talk
a little bit more about this coming up next. Even
be in it right now. And when I say in it,
not necessarily for the one seed of two seed, but
(38:38):
if you're even sniffing five hundred, you're in the playoff mix.
I mean, honestly, there's really only what three or four
teams that are out in the eighth vil Miami and
what maybe the Jets Houston. It's wild. We'll get into
the next hour. It's Arny in playing on a Fox
Football Sunday. Oh it's our two after year, Week nine
(39:02):
on a Fox Football Sunday with a stinking genius Arnie Spaniard.
I'm Chris Blank. So um we got our buddy Todd
Firman coming up here in a bit on a day
in which, by my count, seven underdogs one outright today
nine covered, only three favorites covered in one today. The
Patriots well covered in one of the Patriots. That and
(39:23):
the Miami Dolphins, who are favorites today. Congratulations, Arnie, think
about they're not out of it in the a f
C eight in a row. Um, what a wild week,
you know. And I and I don't just mean with
what happened in you know, the the Raider Nation with
(39:43):
the Henry Ruggs tragedy, And there's really no easy way
to talk about that, because I mean, I know, I
know Danny's and I heard Raiders fan like I am
Danny gr producer, and it's just already every time to
talk about it, you realize, my gosh, how can't even
think about football? One of young lady lost her life
and it's just it's a horrible conversation to even get into.
(40:04):
But you know, beyond that tragedy, you had Derrick Henry
get injured and he's out for the year. We think
von and by the way, everybody calmed down, Adrian Peterson
had a touchdown. He carried the ball ten times for
twenty one yards. I don't think that was the second
coming of Derrick Henry tonight. And you know me, I'm
the biggest eight fan there is. But Derrick Henry goes down,
(40:25):
Adrian Peterson to Titan, Von Miller gets traded Arnie Gary Patterson,
one of the longest tenured coaches in college football, is
out at TCU. Some people are reporting that Texas Tech
is getting ready to make a higher tonight for its
football coach. Oklahoma State had the book thrown at them
Uh in basketball for a mistake that was made five
(40:46):
years ago by a rogue assistant. The first college football
rankings came out and everyone lost their minds. Beckham Jr.
Uh is out on the market now and we'll see
where he ends up to. Sean Jackson was waived this
week and is likely gonna end up on the Raiders.
And then kind of Aaron Rodgers went with what the
over the top grip and not just not just Artie
(41:08):
that we learned that he was gonna miss the game,
but then his interview on the Pat McAfee show. I
don't know, from a news cycle perspective, if if we've
had a crazier week when you consassin who actually has
the pet monkey is part of a routine party, When
that story isn't dominating the headlines for the entire week,
it tells you how crazy this week and would have
(41:28):
been the one would have topped everything? Is that head ls?
You pulled off the upset with a rogue coaching staff
that's pretty much on the outs there. I mean, I
see Coachoe on the sideline. He's just a cheerleader. Is
he doing anything? I just like yelling at the reps?
I think he just has a good ze for the game.
To be honest with you, x Well, I mean, what
what does he really have right now? I mean, Artie,
(41:50):
I kind of know you. I feel like I know
your personality. We've we've done this for a minute together.
But would you listen to a head coach that you
knew wasn't gonna be back the next year? Well, somebody's
got you know, somebody's got to go ahead and lead
to lead them out. Somebody's you know, I give the
players a lot of credit for the game they put
up there. They almost did pull off the upsite. They
(42:10):
played a great game. But you gotta listen to somebody.
I'd i'd still play hard. I mean you're still playing yeah, yeah, no, no, no,
I'm not questioning that. Everyone wants to go out and
play hard. But yeah, he's probably nothing more than a
cheerleader over there. And listen with Joe Burrow and Gosh,
Jamaar Chase and who's the running back that's the chief
(42:31):
now that's name just escaped me, that's been injured all
season long, and defenders like Caleb and U saw and
and Daryl Stingley Jr. Maybe he only Clyde Edwards Hiler
thank you. Maybe he only had to be a cheerleader
or whenever they won the title in two thousand and nine.
Team two of that collection of talent. But a fascinating
week which gets us now to be able to look
back in week nine. So, Arnie, we kick off our
(42:52):
two with a very simple question. After Week nine in
the National Football League, with Monday night still pending, Bears
in in the um Barrison Steelers after weekend I in
the National Football League. I know this. I know blank,
I know this. The Bills are not who we thought
they are. And we kind of got hints at the
first weekend when they lost to Pittsburgh, even though they
(43:13):
had some you know, they got on a little bit
of a streak. But three and now that we're pretty
much at the halfway, they're not the same Bills as
they were last year where they were dominating the a
f C. And people are afraid of them, especially defensively.
And Josh Allen and look at all the completions and
he's really progressed and he's going to be the star
for the next ten years. Um, pump the brakes on
(43:35):
the Hall of Fame there. Um. The Bills are not
who we thought they were. And I'm just kind of
figuring that out now. To be honest with you, Well,
it has been a rough couple of weeks, and I've
been someone that has openly defended the Bills because I
don't want Arnie's wife mad at me, and she's a
guy heard Bills fan, for instance. I I look back
(43:56):
at the lost to Tennessee and I would say, Josh
Allen stumbles on a fourth down and inches or they
probably win that game. After the bye week, I looked
at a I mean, come on, Arnie, a subpar performance
against the Miami team that didn't necessarily play all that well.
They won by fifteen, but that's one of those games
(44:18):
looking back in week eight where even last week, I
think you were feeling pretty good about things because that
was a three three game at the half they had
to score. So I mean, listen, I'm not all in
ready to bury him, but nine to six today, Now
you go to New York next week, so you've got
a chance to get right. But I think I'm I
think I'm there with you right now. I'm starting to
(44:38):
panic a little bit. If I'm a Buffalo Bills face,
I'll give you a little bit of a hints and
just said they I'm taking the Jets plus the thirteen
points next week. To be honest, I I'm not. I'm
anti Bills right now. Did did you watch the Jets
on Thursday night? Yeah? But I still want thet I'm
not gonna find Sjohn and I agree. How about this
(44:58):
um after a week nine of the NFL. I know this,
I don't think we've had and I and maybe I've
said this before and everything runs together. I don't know
if we've had a week that win against the grain
or was more unpredictable or maybe even more surprising than
this week was. Right, Not only I don't think it's
surprising that the Browns beat the Bengals, I think it's
(45:20):
surprising with how thoroughly dominating they were in winning by
what thirty points today, winning by you know, basically four scores.
I I'm really surprised that not only did in for win,
but they dominated that game. I am shocked. I am
absolutely thoroughly shocked by Jacksonville and Buffalo, blown away by
(45:41):
what happened today in San Francisco, even though I don't
know how good the Niners are and maybe arenie. The
most surprising of all is what the Titans did tonight
against what we all thought was a fairly invincible Ram's offense.
I know that it's very generic and and I don't
know even really what to make of it, and it's
kind of our job to make sense of things on
a Sunday night. I don't know what to make of
(46:03):
this week. I really don't. Is this now the kickstart
of what's gonna be a wild second half of this
season that's gonna make zeros or is it an anomaly?
And next week wheneverthing's you know, get rolling again. In
week ten, we'll start seeing the favorites like I don't know,
Baltimore blowing out in Miami on Thursday night, or what
I just mentioned, the Jets were playing the Jets and
(46:24):
the Bills, and the Bills dominated. I don't know, Annie,
it's I'm very confused after what took place today in
the NFL. Well, maybe the have nots are closing the
gap a little bit on the halves. And I'll tell
you this that I'm drinking the Kolway because if I
learned something after nine weeks, and I can't believe. I'm
gonna say this. Maybe the Giants aren't as bad as
I thought. They weren't three ahead they beat the Raiders.
I'm like, hey, you know, maybe they'll make a little run.
(46:46):
I know it's tough to go ahead and try to
catch the Cowboys in that division, but um, they look
pretty damn good today. Maybe they're not as terrible as
I thought they were. You know, there's only been two
games in which they looked absolutely putred this year, and
one of those was the opener against the New York Giant,
all right, right against the Denver Broncos. Right, they looked bad.
(47:08):
Lost by a couple right, at least for this week
they were, and they didn't play all that well. I
guess three, right, I mean, this is a team that's
lost six games. But they got smoked by Dallas, they
got smoked by the Rams, but their wins Carolina shut
them down, shut down. The Raiders today beat New Orleans
(47:28):
in overtime. They had the which game wasn't with the
phantom off sides on the field goal? Was that? That
was the Washington game in week two where they called
the guy off sides and then the the Washington football
team got another opportunity and that dropped them to oh
N two. They lost the Falcons buy a field goal.
They lost the Chiefs last week by a field goal. Annie,
(47:50):
we're looking at three games. And by the way, in
that Chiefs game, they had a chance, right, they had
the turnover that was wiped out on a on an
off side just call. So you're looking at a team
right now that could, I mean easily be six and
three and not three and six, if not, if not
like five and four, I was gonna say right there
(48:11):
that I mean that's you're still looking up at the Cowboys.
But I watched a team today that was a very
good defensive football team. When you get in the red
zone and I don't know, that's an art man, you've
got to be good, um in your interior. And they've
got Leonard Williams. So I think I'm with you on
that one. I probably chalked U up to a way
and you probably thought the Raiders had easy w coming
(48:31):
into this game. Well, I I didn't until Monday, to
be honest with you, um Arnie, after Week nine of
the National Football League. I know this. When I want
to get the most out of Baker Mayfield and ear
Muff's real quick kids, piss them off. I just I
can't think of any other way to put in, uh
find a way to trigger him. And it has always
(48:53):
been a winning formula from him for the from the
moment that he started playing football at the Division one
level and it's carried over to the NFL. I saw
someone tweet earlier and a couple of guys made fun
of it, but I think it was like Jake Trotter
from ESPN and said Baker Mayfield walking in with a
focus that I haven't seen from him. You know, sometimes
(49:14):
we can make fun of that and it looks scoofy,
But the Browns looked like what we thought the Browns
were supposed to look like, Arnie. And through all the
drama with Odell Beckham Jr. Through you know, suddenly Steve
Smith Jr. Has our Steve Smith Senior excuse me has
opinions on Baker Mayfield and Lebron's tweeting about him. And
(49:34):
all they do is go out and win, and I
love it. They go out and win, Yeah, they do.
And then you're saying yourself, man, how did they go
ahead and pull that off? But I want to go
and give you one moment. I know whe's short on time.
So after nine weeks, after nine weeks, I know this,
and I want to go ahead and agree with one
of our old listeners who tweeted this in the Minnesota
Vikings are never gonna be what we thought they were.
(49:56):
They're just never gonna go ahead. You wait for them
to turn the corner and you know, maybe go ahead
and say they watch out for this team. You don't
want to play them in the first round of the playoffs.
They've got some talent, They've got explosive talent, and they
just can't do it. They just can't get over the hup.
You know what I mean? Yeah, you expected to run
off like five six wins in a row. They just
(50:17):
don't do it year to year. It's just frustrating, you know. Yeah,
Reek hit us up on Twitter and rites after week nine.
I know this. The Vikings should fire this regime. Clint
Kubiak is not his father. They should get their golf
clubs ready because they aren't going anywhere but golfing. I
love it. And fern rows rights, I know this. The
(50:40):
Fader Slash Raiders will not make the playoffs, and that's
a que wow. What are you doing? Man? We're already
kind of a little bit down, and you gotta add
that to it. Everyone's got a chance in the f
C outside of Houston, maybe Miami. I might even still
put Miami in there. An with that, Houston, Miami, Jacksonville
(51:01):
and the Jets. Those are the four teams that are
out right now in the a f C. Outside of that,
everybody is still very much alive for a playoff. Berth Alright,
I wonder how many teams from that Division. We'll go
to the playoffs from the a f C West. I
would feel pretty good right now saying they've got a
chance for three because if you were to look at
the playoffs standings, which would be something else, we're getting
(51:24):
seven this year. Right your a f C West champ
is in. The Raiders at five and three would be
a wild card. Right now, the Chiefs are five and four,
basically tied with the Patriots. So um, someone's gonna end
up getting a lot of teams in because we know
right now, as it looks, are the only one team
might be getting in from the a f C South
(51:44):
as it stands. So uh, Titans, you want to be
the one seed if the season were to end today,
which is the dumbest thing to say, because the season
doesn't end today in the a f C. In the NFC,
the only one lost team left in the National Football
League the Arizona Cardinals, who got it done today without
Kyler Murray. When we come back, we're heading to Vegas,

wild of a week for the underdogs as I can
remember in the NFL. How about you? Yeah, there's no
doubt about it. It reminds us why you have to
bring your a game. And I think we had a
similar discussion last weekend, and then what we saw transpire
(52:55):
so far during Week nine took things one step further
than what we saw in Week eight, highlighted by the
Jags and probably win against the Buffalo Bills. You're looking
at teams without key superstars, whether it was the Rams
went losing on Sunday Night Football against the Titan scene
that was down Derrick Henry A. You know, Arizona Cardinals
team that didn't miss a beat without Kyler Murray. It
just goes to show that oftentimes in a one game
(53:18):
sample size, everyone on that roster can raise their level
of play in the absence of a key member of
the team. Todd Bills were or what fifteen and a
half point favorite. So I think I read our right.
I saw on Twitter that was the fourth largest playoff
loss on the road since like nineteen sixty six. That's incredible. Yeah,
right around eight to one on the money line. Now,
if you have the foresight to buy a ticket on
(53:39):
the Jags, I mean, you're gonna watch a lot of
football this year, and I can't imagine you're gonna see
a lot of situations where a team fails to gain
two hundred and twenty yards in a contest, yet finds
enough offense to muster a victory. And I think we've
seen more of the same against the Miami Dolphins. You
keep waiting for this team to flip a switch and
look like the team that we saw on Sunday Night
Football a few weeks ago in that third eight twenty
(54:00):
dominant performance against the Chiefs. But it still is November.
We're still barely at the halfway point. I don't think
it's a reason for any of these teams to panic,
especially in the model DAFC. All right, Um Todd, I
want to talk about games on the field and today,
but with the Henry Ruggs saga, what was what was
it like in Vegas this week? How how challenging was it?
(54:21):
How how did It's? Definitely a rough situation. I mean,
first and foremost, you feel for the victim. I mean,
it's a senseless death for a twenty three year old
who's out with her dog, probably coming home from work
or something along those lines. And here's Henry Ruggs driving
at a hundred fifty plus miles an hour on a
residential street in Las Vegas. I mean, the reality of
it is. You hate what it's done in Derail rugs
(54:41):
career and some of the strides he's made, but we
also can't diminish the others that were impacted by his
poor decision making. There's no time in a place, whether
it's three forty in the afternoon three forty at night,
to be out driving drunk, let alone at those speeds. Uh,
And you can only begin to feel for the organization
and of course the victim's family that will have to
go on without her. No amen to that thought, Um,
(55:03):
as on the field, theyll Giants won that game. UM,
and I said just a little while ago, maybe the
Giants aren't as bad as I thought they were. That
was a big victimy for them. It keeps them somewhat alive. UM.
Raiders had a chance to get on top of that division. Again,
that was a tough loss for them. Yeah, the Raiders
were the better team, but they found ways to self destruct,
especially in the second half. I mean they outgained the Giants,
(55:24):
I'm more than a hundred and fifty yards from the
yards per play standpoints six yards per play to four
and a half. They were just done in by turnovers,
finished minus two in that department, Derek Carr making an
ill advice throw along the sidelines. And then even when
they had a chance, did you go in for the
game tying score late in that game, there's a fumble.
So just not a great situation for the Raiders in
terms of their on field performance, because I really believe
(55:45):
they were good enough to get the win today. We'll
see how they rebound at Allegiance Stadium next Sunday in
primetime when they welcome in the Kansas City Chiefs. The
first meeting, of course, between these two teams since that
memorable game they played on Sunday Night Football out here
in Vegas last year. Are they gonna have a field advantage?
Are we gonna at the fight await Chet fans next
Sunday Night? Todd, It's a great question. I mean, we've
(56:06):
seen a lot of the visiting fans make a mass
pilgrimage out here to the desert, and I have to
imagine Chiefs fans looking to escape some of the cold.
Although it hasn't exactly been frigeting candidate so exactly so
far this fall that will want to come out, But
I think we'll still have, you know, plenty of silver
and black that it may be in that seventy thirty Todd,
(56:27):
anybody uh run down to the window to get extra
money on the rams to win the whole thing after
the vaud Miller pick up or what their odds definitely shortened.
I mean they moved to the NFC front runner. When
you get an elite pass rusher like that. I cautioned
folks though, to buy stock at the top of the market,
especially for a player that's thirty two and he's dealt
with a laundry list of lower body injuries. But when
(56:47):
they'll have a chance to get him out there, it'll
lighten some of the burden and responsibility will fall on
air and Donald. You'll get more productivity out of Leonard Floyd.
But I think the most surprising thing that we saw
from the Rams tonight it was an offense that was
never able to get in gear. The offensive line was
wasn't able to protect Matt Effort. Uh and here we
were one of the more disappointing performances we've seen from
(57:07):
Sean McVeigh on a stage like this, maybe since the
Super Bowl against the New England Matriot. Alright, So before
I get a couple of final NFL questions, what a
weird week in college right? With Alabama not covering against
Ella's shoe since he looking vulnerable, Michigan State getting beat.
Are we preparing for a wild stretch run here? With
(57:27):
big games next week? And I mean, Ohio State's got
to play the Dragon Slayer Perdue next week. Oklahoma's gotta
go to Wakeco and play Baylor. I mean the badness
could just be starting. Todd, Yeah, for sure. I think
when you look at the college football landscape over the
next three weeks of the regular season teams are gonna
have to play their way in. At the same time,
I think we started to see teams play themselves out
(57:47):
of the mix. Oklahoma probably the most interesting case of all, Chris,
because their prices will be relatively short for their trio
of remaining games, road trips to Waco, like you mentioned,
a home game against the Cyclones, and then of course
bed them to close things out before they'll most likely
get one of that trio again on a neutral field
in Dallas. But if you look at the fandom, there's
still a heavy favor to make the college football playoffs.
(58:09):
I'd probably be more inclined to bet them on the
money line each game and roll it over if you
believe that to be the case. Uh And here Cincinnati
not exactly putting their best foot forward each of the
last three weeks, but if they're able to win out
get a little bit of chaos, there's still still a
very real chance that we could be talking about the
first group of five member punching its ticket to the
college football playoffs. A is that Notre Dame win continues
(58:30):
to hold water. Wow, Todd, I've got upset fever. After
all the upsets in the NFL. I'm started think I'm
just gonna start petting upsets from that on. Um, what
kind of obs can I get on the juggernaut New
Mexico State to beat Alabama next week? Uh? You know, Arnie,
when you're looking at a fifty one point under dog,
I'm not sure really even be able to find a
money line anywhere. But if somebody's offering you a price
anything less than fifty to one, you most likely don't
(58:52):
want to take it. Uh. And it's not I mean,
it's a crazy week. We thought we could even see
a big number on Clemson Yukon before the season started,
but that number is only a modest forty with an
over under forty nine. I still think I take Clemson,
all right? Uh, Todd, let's talk about Sunday Night football,
Panic time at all with the Rams or just the
(59:13):
Titans kind of finding their defensive stride. No, I don't
think it's panic time by any stretch of the imagination.
I give the Titans defense a ton of credit. They
were able to get after Matthew Stafford. Sean McVeigh was
slow to adjust in the first half, and of course,
when you get for Wrapp two touchdowns for the Titans.
It's always difficult to play behind from behind the eight ball,
but this is the Titans offense that I think has
(59:34):
more challenges and questions that will need to be answered
in coming weeks. Sure, they're in control of their own
destiny in the a f C with tiebreakers against a
lot of the closest competition, but you're not gonna win
a lot of football games. When you gain a hundred
and nine total yards, you you barely average more than
four yards per pass attempt. And from a rushing standpoint,
they still don't seem to know exactly who their lead
(59:54):
back will be with Derrick Henry sideline, Will it be
Adrian Peterson, will it be Jeremy McNichols, How will they
handle that workload? And for tennessee interesting situation. They've now
played four straight games as an underdog, they've won all
four of them. They'll now move into the favorite rule.
Let's see how they handle that giant target that either
covering or winning out out right? Wouldn't this be like
(01:00:14):
the best weekend for the books in like the history
of gambling or what I won't go history of gambling?
But there's no doubt as we see increased betting handle
across the country. Every week that the books do well
is going to continue to set record. And I know
one book actually reported that every single NFL game that
was played today other than the Chargers and Eagles, went
the way of the house. And I think that it's
(01:00:36):
a friendly reminder that the public will oftentimes get their
pound of flesh here or there, but the books typically
strike back, and that's what we've seen each of the
last two weeks. Think you know, Tod, I saw somebody
bet like a fifty four team money line parlay and
they took like Jacksonville and Denver paid quite a bundle.
I'm just still trying to find it, but it paid
big time money. You know. It definitely doesn't hurt if
(01:00:59):
you can put a couple of double digit dogs in
there and get a couple of underdogs like the Tennessee
Titans to come home to roost, the Atlanta Falcons, you
name it. There days like today where it's better to
be lucky than good, because I won't have claimed to
have bet most of those teams on the money line myself. Todd,
we love you man, have a great week. You can't
wait to talk to you next Sunday. But you got
a gentleman that you guys do the same. And Chris,
(01:01:19):
good luck to your beloved sooners in Waco next Saturday.
Well what about my Wildcats winning their first game in
in three years or something like that, Come on, Arnie.
To their credit, I'm not going I'm not going to
discount the win at all. But I think cal brought
seventeen players in the traveling party. Some of them were
called up from a local high school in Berkeley. Given
the COVID outbreak, that you only need eleven, Todd, that's
(01:01:43):
all you need. That's a good point. And for the
most part, Arizona hasn't had the qualified football players on
either side of the ball. And about that's the man, Todd.
Fir him and follow him on Twitter, subscribe to the
Better Board podcast. See you next week, Todd. All right,
look at you trying to get been getting smacked around.
He our man, Steve de saga is ready didn't get
(01:02:06):
us caught up on everything in the world of sports.
What's up? Specifically, that was a twenty game losing streak
the Arizona Wildcats ended, so we don't have really that
much opportunity on the Football Show in any year to
play that anymore. So therefore, the Arizona Wildcats, that's really
what they're more like. They did get a win, but yeah,
(01:02:27):
they call the visiting team. Just about had to have
Gorty loch Bomb playing offense and defense because give him
some Heisman votes. And still the was no idea what
we're talking about this Gordy lock this game three three
in the fourth quarter. Even so, yes, that's what we
(01:02:51):
gotta say three and the fourth about Arizona football at
this point. A couple of items before we get tonight's game.
This was a really bad day for the philip the Eagles.
For starters, they're still literally winless at home. They gave
up a late field goal, lost in the charge four.
But at the same time, the Miami Dolphins. One, keep
in mind, the Eagles owned the Dolphins first round pick
(01:03:14):
next spring because the Eagles had traded down this pass spring.
You know, with the Texans losing, Okay, that's fine, Texans
have lost eight in a row, but the Eagles owned
the Miami pick, not the Texans pick. So right now
it is at drafting one and two, the Lions and
the Texans, and then Miami's got two wins now, Jets
(01:03:35):
have two wins, Jaguars have two wins now Washington. I mean,
there's a chance that the Eagles now their own pick
could be top ten, but there's a chance that this
pick they're getting from the Dolphins could barely be top ten.
And we still got a lot of games to go,
but this was potentially not a good day for the
Eagles in that regard either. And I don't know if
you saw any of the pregame show for the NFL
(01:03:56):
on Fox, and Jay Glazier had told us earlier in
the week, and especially with his background and him working
with veterans, how he doesn't just love their Veterans Week programming,
but that it's the best show that Fox NFL does
every year when they focus on the military. And today
they were at Annapolis and did the entire pregame show
(01:04:18):
and of course all the other stuff the rest of
the day from and then we had the Rams game
at home tonight, a battle of teams with four game
winning streaks Tennessee sixteen winner. There was an odd note
from next Gen Stats that the Rams offense, for literally
every play on offense tonight, had eleven personnel. That is,
one running back, one tight end and three wide receivers,
(01:04:39):
exactly the same grouping every play for seventy four plays
the entire night. They said, in the last five years,
only one other team, New England a couple of years ago,
had used literally the same grouping for every offensive play.
And then you had Matthew Stafford with the two critical
interceptions in the first half. He was sacked five to
(01:05:00):
times sixteen. Tennessee wins its fifth straight game. Each club
is seven and two. Kansas City thirteen seven winners over
Green Bay. The Packer two on field goals missed from
forty and from thirty seven yards out on back to
back drives in the first half, and they wound up
losing by six. Meanwhile, Kansas City was two for two
on field goals, hitting from twenty four and fifty five
(01:05:22):
yards out, that on back to back drives just before
halftime and notable as bad as the case offense was
all day, on the final drive, the Chiefs ran out
about the last five minutes of the game and got
a w Arizona without the injured Kyler Murray bad Ankles
still wanted San Francisco thirty one seventeen. Fact DeAndre Hopkins
wide receiver was also out with his bad hamstring. I
(01:05:44):
mentioned Philadelphias oh and four at home San Francisco's now
it's thirty to sixteen the final it was thirty to
nothing with under five minutes to go. Jacksonville up said
Buffalo Giants over Vegas. Baltimore came back for an overtime
win against Minnesota. Cleveland forty one sixteen winners. At Cincinnati,
Nick Chubb on fourteen carries, had a hundred thirty seven
yards rushing and two touchdowns that included a seventy yard
(01:06:08):
t D. According to NFL research, his early t D
meant that in his last nine games he's played without
Odell Beckham, he's had at least one rushing touchdown in
all nine of them. So, for for whatever that means,
the X Browns receiver Beckham will go on waivers tomorrow.
Justin Jefferson in that Vikings overtime loss, did have an
(01:06:30):
early long touchdown, So he's over two thousand career receiving
yards already in game number twenty four, the only one
fastest in the Super Bowl era Odell Beckham. It took
him only twenty one games to get up to two
thousand career receiving yards. Atlanta kicked the field goal final
play to win at New Orleans. Mentioned the Miami win
it was seventeen nine against Houston, and New England was
(01:06:52):
six winner at Carolina. Kyle Larson took NASCAR's Cup Series championship,
winning the season finale. And I must mention in that
MLB Awards season started tonight with the gold gloves being
handed out for best defensive players. St. Louis with a
record five winners, five of their nine defensive players one
National League gold gloves tonight. Pretty much every infielder they own,
(01:07:15):
and and this is on a night where he not
even lead did not win a cold club. I mentioned
two guys. There is Marcus Simmy in a great power
hitting infielder. He's with a new team Toronto. This past
year when he signed with the Blue Jays, he moved
positions from shortstop to second base, and he won the
gold Glove at second base tonight in the American League,
his first gold glove, and yet again, high school teammates
(01:07:39):
are the gold glove winners at third base one American
one National League. Matt chap in Oakland A's has won
the Cold Gloves three or five seasons and Nolan Arronado,
now with the Cardinals, makes it nine straight Gold Glove
Awards for NL third basement high school teammates in southern
California years ago. Back to you, thanks Steve on A
(01:07:59):
five Football Sunday, Uh Danny g pointed this clip out
and I want to play it because we've spent some
time tonight and Todd obviously gave us some perspective from
Vegas on the Henry Ruggs story. Just so tragic to
think about a horrible decision that took someone's life. Here's
(01:08:21):
what Jalen Hurts said about what the week has been
like for he and Devonte Smith, who were college teammates.
Of course, we've heard from Nick Saban this week. I mean, Arnie,
I'm not a lawyer, but it appears and it should
be that Henry Ruggs is gonna spend a lot of
time in jail and should based on what I'm seeing.
But here's what Jalen Hurts had to say after the game. Obviously,
(01:08:44):
I have a lot of love for Davante, I love
him like a brother. I have a lot of love
for Henry Ruggs as well. I love him like a brother.
I'm a member brother. That's tough to for all of
us to experience what we experienced this week, and how
tragic of a situation it was, where our warriors and
we all we all see you through. So it's funny
because well nothing's funny, But it's interesting to me because
(01:09:06):
I don't think about that, you know, and in my
mind it's always about boy. I hate this for this
young woman's family, and can you imagine for Henry Rugg's
family and that locker room when lo and behold Arnie.
There's the players he played with in college, right, there's
the coaches who when they recruit and they go to
sit in kids living room, they tell them about guys
(01:09:29):
like Henry Ruggs playing for him. So, just a horrible
story all the way around. And um, I don't know,
I don't know, just eggs, it just it just eggs.
It's terrible, and you know, you really you can't say anything.
I I want to see how this is going to
go play out. But as we know what we know
right now, it's just a terrible situation and um, nothing's
(01:09:51):
going going to go ahead and bring back that young ladies.
So no, no, matter what they do or how much
they punish him, it's not going to bring back that
young lady. No easy way to segue. Let's some of
your tweets at Stinking Genius Wan, I'm at Plank Show.
Everybody should be following us. At Fox Sports Radio, Mark Rights,
the Tennessee defense stifled the Rams to night. Guys set
(01:10:12):
up a TV and scored a t d and Stafford's
two early picks put the Rams in a hole they
could not dig out of. Both defensive lines were tremendous. However,
rams only touchdown came in the fourth quarter when the
game was decided. Mark at it. If coach McVeigh wins
his Super Bowl, it will not be his genius that
(01:10:33):
is the difference, but our execution on the field versus
an inferior opponent. The Titans did it with defense. I
agree with that. If the Rams do win, I don't
think it's so much about the boy genius. They he's
the boy genius. They just have a really talented roster.
What happened on the touch show that was taken back.
I know he had one foot when toe out of bounds,
(01:10:54):
but he came back in established one foot. But I
don't think he established a second foot. You have to
have both you've established in bounds before you allowed the
catch or is it just I guess it's not just
one ft then right? Well, um, it's a weird rule,
and it's different in college and in the NFL, so
I'll probably screw it up. But if you're forced out,
then you just have to re establish your position on
(01:11:19):
the field. And I think it's even the same in
the in the college banks too on that front. But
if you voluntarily step out, I think in the NFL
you're out. I I don't. I don't think it's a
matter of re establishing your position. I think it is
it okay, Yeah, then don't ask me because obviously I
don't know what to believe I'm talking about. But I
know in college, if you're forced out, you you have
(01:11:42):
to re establish your position on the field before you
can make the catch. If you go out in college
on your own volition, I don't think that you can
come back on the field because that happened as sooner twice,
So that might be the difference between the college and
the Well. I think that the NFL you have to
have both feedback and back in because when the way
they were looking at it, I'm he definitely had on
and the second one came down after he caught the ball,
(01:12:05):
so he didn't have both feet established before he got
the ball. And I'm watching the replay right now, but
I'll tell you this much, the Rams are pretty incredible
whenever it comes to what they're able to do with
their late round picks. That looks like it would be
a touchdown to me, right he stepped out, Oh he
never got his second foot I'm saying, right exactly, do
you get the second one established? If you would have
(01:12:26):
got that second foot down before he caught the ball,
then it's a touchdown. But yeah, you're right. Um, this
is good for nature Boy. We were talking about Aaron
Rodgers helping out Jordan Love this week. Nature Boy, writes Roger.
You can hear Loves say I'll take horrible fumbles for
five dollars. Oh my gosh, bless us all mug right,
what's the record on this show for most consecutive days
(01:12:49):
without one host punching the other? It's however many days
we've done this? Ye've never now, yeah, we've never been
a studio. Uh Roberta, writes Aaron Rodgers is disgusting what
a con I used to be a fan, but his
good boy image is gone. He endangered his family, teammates,
their families and friends, and he continues this charade. He
(01:13:12):
got he got dropped today by one of his sponsors.
I think it was a health sponsor. Yeah, the in
locally in Green Bay, right, he did forget one role
when you find a whole quit digging. Fair enough, fair enough? Uh?
And then one more from nature boy, who would have
predicted that James Conner would turn into Barry Sanders today
(01:13:36):
and prevent the Niners from winning another home game since
what feels like a decade ago. Even Colt McCoy was
mocking them, How do we put Kyle Shanahan on the
hot seat? Aren'tie? Oh? Of course you have to don't
drift to what's going on with them. Yeah, you have
to go ahead and uh and put him on the
(01:13:57):
hot seat. And by the way, I was just digging
as before you ask me that you know they do
in college basketball like the UM mid you know, the
mid major top. We should do the second string quarterback
top ten. So many have played this year and you
could really do a ranking, you know, the Niners have
lost five straight games at Levi Stadium, eight straight home games,
(01:14:19):
and now that counts a couple of games that would
play would have been played in Arizona. They've only won
a total of one home game since winning the NFC
Championship in January nineteen of How about when we come back.
A big day for Justin Tucker, De Seger explains next
(01:14:39):
on a Fox Football Sunday. Art and Plank brought you
in part by discover who matches all the cash back
you are and on your credit card at the end
of your first year. It's amazing because discovers accepted at
of places in the US and take credit cards. Learn more,
discover dot com, slash he has one nels. Some report
(01:15:00):
limitations apply. What a day for Justin Tucker? Justin Tucker
the best kicker of this era. I think that's pretty
safe to say. I thought, I see, you know, kind
of like with NBA. I thought, you know, Ray Allen
is the best shooter I have ever seen. And then
Steph Curry comes along, Adam Vinetarry is the best kicker
I will oh, And then there's Justin Tucker career. The
(01:15:22):
guy's already made eighteen career game winning field goals, including
the one in overtime for the win over the Vikings today.
More importantly, or more impressively, I should say, in the
fourth quarter or overtime he has made in fourth quarter
or overtime that is ridiculous. How good and of course
the records long field, it's just silly, how good he
(01:15:43):
is and how good he has been his whole career.
Lamar Jackson of Baltimore has already tied Michael Vick's record
for quarterbacks with his tenth career hundred yard rushing game.
He had twenty one carries for a hundred twenty yards
in the overtime win today. Then tonight's loss at home
for the Rams, and they laid an egg. That first
half especially was just horrendous, summed up in the back
(01:16:04):
to back interceptions thrown by Matthew Stafford. They lost sixteen
to a Tennessee team that has won five in a row.
But I will say for the Titans in nearly a decade,
this is their fewest rushing yards in a victory. They
have some guys that can play running back, but they
don't have a rushing attack without their Henry obviously, Adrian
(01:16:25):
Peterson ten carries twenty one yards and a late one
yard touched Owt. But Matthew Stafford was sacked five times,
three by Jeffrey Simmons. Simmons with ten quarterback pressures in
one game and the next gen stats all five of
these sacks tonight by the Titans were just with the
four man pass rush. They only blitz four times all night,
and Stafford dropped bat could pass over fifty times, So
(01:16:49):
that defense really got the job done against what can
be a great, great Rams offense. Meanwhile, we've got a
Monday night matchup of Bears at Steelers tomorrow. Rookie quarterback
Justin Field did rush for over a hundred yards last week.
But Chicago's three and five. They've allowed the most sacks
in the league. In fact, they've allowed thirty sacks in
half a season so far, including four in each of
(01:17:11):
the last three games. All three games were double digit losses.
Pittsburgh those one three in a row. They're up to
four and three. And regarding the pregame show and the
comments on Aaron Rodgers today, if you didn't see it
on Fox from Annapolis, Jimmy Johnson, just to sum it up,
says he's disappointed in Aaron Rodgers play on words, disappointed
for his selfish actions. How he long says, this ceases
(01:17:34):
to be your personal decision when you take part in
being a football team. And he also pointed out Aaron
Rodgers may have jeopardized the Packers chance at home field
advantage in the playoffs. How often are we going to
look back at today's game once we get December races
in the NFC and say, man, that play half of
this game, they could have won at Kansas City today.
(01:17:55):
And then, of course Terry Bradshaw spoke, He said, I
want to give Aaron Rodgers some advice. Would have been
nice if you just come here to the Naval Academy
and learned how to be honest. Loud cheers from the
service men and women in the background, because what you did, Aaron,
you lied to everyone with the immunized and what you took,
and you got COVID nineteen what you took as a
(01:18:15):
cattle d wurmer. Here, we've got a divided nation. And
Bradshaw says, unfortunately, we've got some players that only think
about themselves, and I'm extremely disappointed in his actions. Michael
stray Hand finally said Strayhand said, there's a time to
quote Martin Luther King and this was not one of them.
Good stuff. When we come back, Arnie, it's time to
(01:18:39):
play buy or Sell. It's it's time to play a
lot of postgame audio, and it's time for Arnie's picks.
It's all coming up as we head into our number
three recapping a wild, unpredictable, fascinating Week nine in the
National Football League. Your tweets though, lead it off next
(01:19:00):
final hour, Arnie and Plank leading up the Big Ben
Mallar on Fox. Oh Yes, into our final hour here
on a Fox Football Sunday, leading you into Big Ben Mallard, Big,
is this your Vegas week? Are you going to Vegas
this week? I'm going to Vegas in January? January and
(01:19:20):
then I'm gonna go to l A and then i
gotta go to Topeka, and then I gotta go to Ohio.
Why Topeka my niece is getting married. I was gonna say,
of all those places, it's kind of like the old Uh,
which of these kids is doing their own thing? Topeka
kind of doesn't fit in that. By the way, can
we get right to that tweet that you got that
(01:19:41):
didn't go ahead and include me on it. Which one
from Jay Richards Smitty Smith? Oh, well, I don't let
me scroll back. I'm I'm I'm busy. You know we
de sega bringing up the takes on Fox today. I
fired up a few people, So I'm waiting through that
a little bit. But what what caught your eyes? Playing show?
(01:20:04):
Love your part on the show man? I wish you
could fly solo on Sunday nights. Already can retire and
pound sand He over already over and already over exaggerates much?
What a hack? Stay rolling, Chris, you know it'd be
it'd be nice to what all be exactly a hack on?
Can you explain that way? Or what I over exaggerate on?
(01:20:26):
Can you just tell me that? Or do I over
exaggerate on everything? I'm a hacking? By the way, We've
been doing the show for eleven years. He doesn't understand that.
Eleven years ago I made your career. You were washing dishes,
And since we've been doing the show together, you've hit
like citizen Home. Wow, Um, you have not hit new
(01:20:49):
heights since we've been doing the show together. Well, I mean,
if you want to take credit for that, Yeah, have
you not hit new heights in your life since we've
been together. Well, sure, Arnie, absolutely, I hope because of you.
I don't know where I would be right now if
(01:21:10):
when I was doing the show before yours, they didn't say, hey,
let's just put those guys together. But no, everything took
off once I got partnered with you. So I will
say this, I much preferred. I had a blast last night, Arnie.
I filled in for Bernie Fratto, and Bernie was wise
to take the Saturday off when you fall back. So
(01:21:31):
we did a five hour show last night, and I
love that currel. I love Bo Benton and Chris Proffett
and Brian Finley. But I'll take this. Uh what's this saying?
Every day on twice and twice on Sunday at somewhat
normal hours for me, and uh, getting to go back
and forth with you over five hours overnight five hours? Wow?
(01:21:56):
It was easy though, come on, man, you know, I
mean it was after the college football, old day college football,
you know, and people sometimes get triggered when you try
to talk college football. It's like, oh, I don't need
anymore college football? Like why not? It's awesome? So it
was fun at all. The Cincinnati fans. Yeah it was.
It was loaded. I was letting him have it too.
You would have been proud of me. Well, and let
me get this too, because if if you're gonna bring
(01:22:18):
up one that takes a shot at you, all bring
up a tweet authentic. Alan is very mad at me
because how dare I give credit to Baker Mayfield on
a day when he was fantastic? Alan Ritch, Oh please,
let's not act like Baker Mayfield is going to lead
the Browns to a super Bowl. He beat the Bengals,
the same team that lost to the Jets. Mayfield is
the third best quarterback in the division and that's only
(01:22:39):
because big business one and three? Okay, can it be
crediting someone for playing well without saying I think they're
going to the super Bowl? Baker and the Browns had
a good day, damn r facts, Alan, And he just
beat a guy that you have ranked ahead of him
as a quarterback of the division. So the hell are
you talking about? Man? I'm not saying are going to
(01:23:00):
the super Bowl. I don't know if this is a
hot take or not, but I'm starting to feel and
if you made me bet one way or the other,
and I'm I'm more one way. I I'm feeling pretty
good about this that he's not going to come back
to the Cleveland Browns. I think they're ready to move
on without him and go in a different direction. I
don't know what that direction could possibly be. And I
think that's a massive mistake. But I don't think they
(01:23:22):
want to pay him all that big money and they're
gonna move on without him. Yeah, and maybe their idea
is with Kevin Seifert. He's got a system that give
me a younger quarterback on a rookie contract and I'll
take my chances, or you know, a game manager, and
we'll build that roster. Kind of that's your mindset with this.
Who who would want somebody like besides Miami? Of course
(01:23:44):
I would love Baker Mayfield. But who would want Baker
Mayfield up and go after him? Oh? I think Miami
looking into any of the teams that need a quarterback
rights dude, Sean Payton would give up years. I think
Sean Payton would give up more to go get Baker
than he wouldn't get to Shawn Watson. I think I
(01:24:05):
think he would be a fantastic fit in New Orleans.
It's kind of like that old saying about not old saying,
but when we talk about people firing Mike Tomlin and
how quickly that he would have another job lined up
for him, I think Baker is the same way. I
don't think he suddenly becomes Blake Bortles or Mike Glennan
where he's just hoping to grab onto a practice squad.
(01:24:26):
And I don't I get I get the opposite since
Arnie I I kind of I kind of think they're
looking to hang onto him. You know, if they weren't,
then why would they take basically his side over O'Dell.
I think he won, But I thought if they were
gonna sign him, they would have started negotiations and working
out a contract. I'll give you two teams. And I
thought he could end up with UM if Atlanta moves
(01:24:48):
on from Matt Ryan, Well, he'd be great there. Oh
you think he would like him? Yeah, I'd like him
there a lot. Yeah. With with Pitts and Ridley, I
think it think he's got fantastic well and and listen,
I'm not trying to get too carried away just because
the Falcons one today and I know that that that
really is battling some personal issues right now. But I
(01:25:11):
think he'd be good there, that that'd be a good fit.
And I don't know, I think he'd be good based
And I know you don't care about systems, but I
think being an Arthur Smith's system would be really fun
with Baker Mayfield, and the other one would be Carolina
I guess would be the other one. I get the sense, Okay,
this is this is very much Maybe this can lead
us right into buy or sell, because today right we
(01:25:33):
learned that apparently there were quite a few offers out
there for one to Shawn Watson and Arnie. I'm I'm
buying that one of those teams that's probably gonna do
everything it possibly can to get him is the Carolina Panthers. Yeah, yeah,
I'm sorry, sorry, because that's why I don't wouldn't say
(01:25:55):
Baker Mayfield would be a fit there, not that he
wouldn't be a fit, but I think there's swinging for
the fences with a guy like DeShawn Watson. I I
can't I can't say any team is gonna go out
and get to Shaun Watson while you have all these
legal troubles hanging over his head. I especially what's been
going on I just I can't see it. I know
(01:26:16):
we're not talking based on talent alone Chris or or
anything like that. We're talking about the legal troubles. I
just can't see a team saying he's worth what he
brings to the team, even with the legal troubles, what
like twenties something cases. I I just can't see it.
I I don't see somebody doing that. Well this off,
especially if you get him and then they find out
(01:26:37):
he's suspended or something like that. You know, I think
someone tweeted this last night, or maybe it was on
our show last week. What would have happened if let's
say the Dolphins finalized the deal before the draft and
got to Shawn Watson and then all this comes out.
Would they have had to rescind the trade? Are you
just stuck? You'd have to ask the commissioner for some
(01:26:58):
guarantees or something like that. You can't make a trade
like that giving up three number one wakes if you
don't have some type of guarantees. Well, what if it
had happened right? What if they were able to work
it out before the draft last year. I'm playing revisionist
history here just a bit, but I am intrigued because
I think the market is going to be robust, all right,
to get to the games today before we hit the
post game already audio, before we get to Arnie's picks,
(01:27:20):
Artie buy or sell? The Chiefs have got the train
back on track. No, no, no, I'm selling that. No,
no way did they get back on track. Matter of fact,
if you if you look at the numbers there, Um
Mahomes had what twenties something completions for a hundred and
sixty d seventy Yeah, for hundred seven yards. I've never
seen him um so low before in my entire life.
(01:27:41):
Usually that guy could have a hundred and sixty yards
at the end of the first quarter. He does not
look like the Patrick Mahomes of of old. Um. I
don't know if it's just because he's trying to do
too much, or you know, maybe they're just not the
same team, but they're not going back to the super
Bowl with the way they look right now. I promise
you that I started digging because I know that we
(01:28:01):
fight about this a lot, and and you liked to
bury a team. You know me, I'm a little bit
more patient, but you know, you go back the last
couple of years at Tampa Bay was a seven and
five football team, and it lost three or four games
before there by right they were not playing well. The
Browns were five and three at their by and one
six of their next day. Pittsburgh was an eleven and
(01:28:24):
old team and finished one and four and got beat
in the first round of the playoffs. I went back
to two thousand and nineteen. The Titans were a four
and five team in two thousand and nineteen and went
to the a f C Championship game. I mean two
thousand sixteen Packers were four and six and ended up
ten and six in the NFC championship games. So my
paranoia is still very high about Kansas City. But I'm
(01:28:45):
not buying either that today was that performance where like,
damn they gotta figured out. But you know what thing
about when you bring up that Packer, what is that
when Aaron Rodgerson are I think six relax? Yeah? Well really,
because I think if you look at the schedule, he
knew that they were gonna go ahead play favorable like
six seven games stretching, they were gonna win every game.
So that's why it was so easy for him to
say something like that. Well, it is. It's not something
(01:29:09):
I can easily do, which is say goodbye to Kansas City.
But I'm not buying that their back on track? All right?
We talked a lot about Baker, a lot of conversations
about the Browns and where they are as a team.
Aren'ty buyer sell the Browns are back on track? Oh yeah,
I am gonna buying that, especially with the way they
man handled Cincinnati. They look really good. Um, you play
(01:29:29):
like this, They're not gonna miss Oldell Beckham Jnr. We
already knew that. I was one of the ones that said,
oh wow, they're getting no Dell Beckham Junior watch out
for this Browns team. Isn't that when we started the
the craze betting the Browns to go to the Super
Bowl and stuff like that. And then he but I
do like the way they look right now, And yeah,
I think they've turned the corner and they're ready to
(01:29:50):
go and make a charge. They're five and four football team.
They go to New England next week, They've got like
Froit at home, and then they've got Sunday night football
against Ball some more. Their bye week isn't until week thirteen.
Get this, this is the Browns Week twelve at Baltimore,
Bye week Week fourteen home against Baltimore. They've gotta they've
(01:30:13):
gotta buy sandwich and your bread is two matchups with Baltimore.
It's wild. Okay, Um, two more quick ones so we
can break and we'll get to the locker room, Sarnie,
buy or sell. Today's rash of upsets is a sign
of things to calm in the second half of the
NFL season. It's going to be crazy. No, I'm gonna
sell that. I'm I'm with you. It's a week to
week league out there. We may see it again. Um,
(01:30:34):
I don't know if we see it in this epic
proportions or you know, Jacksonville beating a Buffalo again? Right,
gave you that, stad hasn't it's the fourth largest uh
choke job since what nineteen sixty six when you're fifteen
and that point favorite and you lose a game like that.
But no, I don't think it's a sign of of
stuff to come. Um, it's a week to week league.
But I think we'll see more upsets a little bit,
just not as much as we saw today. Okay, and
(01:30:56):
then one more and I'm trying not to get too
carried way on just one matchup here, but Arnie, panic
time in two places, buy or sell. Panic time in Buffalo.
Oh no, not panic time in Buffalo. You're still leading
the division. You're better than New England and you're still
gonna win the division. So no, no panic time in Buffalo,
not at all. Panic time in Cincinnati. Yeah, yeah, it
(01:31:21):
is paddic times. Since not. I'm sorry about that. You know,
things were kind of moving along real smoothly, and now
they thing. You know, you're like the number ten seed
um in the in the a f C. So yeah,
there's a little bit of panic after the way you
got man handled today. Oh oh, I forgot I forgot
one more in here. Panic time Dallas. Yeah, you got
(01:31:43):
a big lead in the division. Like I said, you
gotta throw away this tape and not even watch it.
Don't even discuss it a matter of fact to say, yeah,
did everybody enjoy your bye week this week? Because I
know you didn't play very hard. So no, you just
move on from that, don't even pay attention. Cowboys still
have one of the best scoring differentials in the NFL.
There six in two. The second place tie between the
(01:32:06):
Eagles and Giants two teams at three and six. What
did McCarthy say to them in the locker room after
this game? Well, you want to hear it, I'll play
for you. I'll play for I don't have the actual
audio of what Mike McCarthy said to his team. I
know you want to hear him get crushed, but we'll play.
When Mike McCarthy had to say post Dallas is tough
(01:32:27):
loss to dinner next with Arnie and Plank on a
Fox Football Sunday. Oh, here's a real good question before
we hit some post games. Sound mark right? Jodell Beckham Jr.
On Twitter, by the way, which is the best way
to get in touch with the show. Odell Beckham Jr.
Was a superstar wide receiver with the Giants and ran
(01:32:50):
a foul of the media when he became entangled in
a brawl with a de inver dB Oh, by the way,
in a kicking nut. I never understood why media aligned
again him other than he played for New York. He
was not anymore wrong than his adversary. And it just
seems as if you know, you got guys like Justin
Jefferson wearing free O'Dell Beckham shirts today, which he's free.
(01:33:15):
I mean he's as I mean, he's not in jail,
he's not being forced to play in the NFL. He's
he's free. So okay, but I'm very curious we're talking
about this during the break where he ends up, because
there is a chance someone claims him. And I know
(01:33:36):
this might sound crazy, I wouldn't be surprised if someone
like the Lions claim him. They got the first waiver priority,
and I mean they're not going anywhere they need a receiver.
Bad was going to claim him though, No, no, no,
I never said that because I don't know. Um but
(01:33:57):
the the waiver order, which will come down what tomorrow afternoon,
um it, it could land him in Detroit because your
top five in the waiver wire is Detroit, Miami, Houston,
Jacksonville and the Jets. Let me ask you a question.
Can Detroit call them up and say we'd like to
claim you, and then they can they say, don't bother,
(01:34:18):
we don't want to go to you guys, or oh,
I'm sure. I'm sure there's conversations like that. But in
the end, if they claim him, he's a Lion, and
there's they're gonna pay him if you claim him on
the waiver wire, whatever his contract in the agreement that
he had with the with the Browns. So I don't know, Arnie,
I think any of those are possible. Now, maybe Detroit says,
(01:34:42):
you know what we are what we are and bringing
Odell Beckham Jr. In here to play with Jared Goff
might not go so well. But you know, Danny brought
up a really good point during the break. Seattle's ninth
on the waiver wire, and if you don't want to
risk waiting to see who he choose is in free agency,
why not a place like Seattle where they've got DK
(01:35:05):
Metcalf who's playing well, uh, they got Lockett, who's a
rock star. You can always use a third guy who
wants you get Russell Wilson back No. Ones out of
the playoff picture right now in the NC. Well, I
hate to ask you, what's the difference between picking him
up on waivers or and um, go ahead and claiming
him seven half billion? If you claim him, sure, if
you wait for him to go through waivers, how much
(01:35:26):
is it gonna call? He's got to pick you. If
you wait for him to go through waivers, well, I
don't know why. I just get the feeling of Dallas Cowboys.
If if he would to end cleared waivers that he
would pick the Cowboys because he said he wants to
go to a contender. They're six and two. He certainly
would like the atmosphere out there. He'd work well with that. Um,
I can see that as a possibility. But we have
(01:35:49):
we have Cooper, we have Gallups CD. Where are we
gonna put him? He's gonna be unhappy again if Jerry
Jones does do something that's stupid. I couldn't agree with
Bobo Moore. But you're not paying the big money though,
so it doesn't better. But why would you go through
the headache? Well, Gallup has hurt though, right, Gallup will
be back next was like next week or the week
(01:36:09):
after we get him back? Uh, and to other people
will get back. It was just literally tip of my
tongue until I heard you say something stupid. You shook
him talking about Odell Beck. I think, don't know, an.
I think sometimes you have Cooper and you have Lamb,
but you know, other than that, Gallop has heard. Okay,
(01:36:30):
you got Wilson too, but I'm thinking it's still pretty
good h fit there. Especially couldn't mind having another deep
threat out there, But who are you going to bench
with all of our right receivers are playing good and
you say he's a good fit there. Odell Beckham Jr.
As a talent is a good fit on thirty two
NFL team. I think we did over rate him a
little bit great thirty one right now because that's why
(01:36:54):
he's leaving a brown Okay talent because of Giants, right
and the Giants, and it doesn't look like he's going
to Vegas so twenty nine other teams. He's a really
good fit from a talent perspective. But Arnie, if he
goes to Day and again this is hypothetical, isn't he
just in about the same situation he was from a
(01:37:17):
pass catching perspective as he was in Cleveland. I mean,
if you go to Dallas and might be kind of
out of spite to be able to stick it to
the Giants, I mean, I don't know, but I just
I don't think that's the fit. Seattle. As soon as
Danny said that, man Bell started going off, I was like, Damn,
that would be a great fit for you. But I
don't see him going anywhere where He's gonna be like
the number one or really even top option for a
(01:37:38):
team that's going to be going to a super Bowl.
I think he just wants to go and settle in,
kind of like the way for Ned settled in. Um,
Antonio Brown just helped a team win a super Bowl
and then maybe collect the money after that, or you know,
goes somebodys after that. Maybe so, um, I don't know.
Those are two guys too in four net and um
(01:38:00):
who who else? You just Antonio Brown? Antonio Brown was
you know, kind of out of options and he had, uh,
just the way that he was. Thankfully Tom Brady still
wanted him around and that change things for him. But
it's fat maybe he is, you know, and maybe he
looks at a situation to where he goes all right,
you know what, Arnie Spaniel, You're right, I want to
go win my title. Come get me, Gosh, Kansas City,
(01:38:23):
come get me, Los Angeles Chargers. I I don't know,
I think it would be I think Monday is going
to be interesting to see if anyone decides that they're
gonna pick him up off the waiver wire and not
risk letting him pick where he wants to go. And
I think he's a little delusion. I think that he
was gonna be I'm gonna go to a super Bowl
and be the number one seed. They're gonna be throwing
me the ball as a number one. I don't think
(01:38:46):
that's happening anywhere. All right, um, we owe you some
sound from the locker room. Let's start now as we
recap week nine in the National Football League. Speaking of
one Odell Beckham, that was the hot topic in all
the game conversations for the Cleveland Browns. We'll we'll get
to that coming up here in moments, but well, you know,
(01:39:07):
let's get you right now. Baker Mayfield had this to say,
whenever asked about locker room guys, I'm worried about the
guys in our locker room. I'm proud of these guys,
how they were able to focus up despite all the
it was going on this week, and how they were
able to do their job. So that's why I appreciate
this group of guys and uh and and the staff
that we have. So we're gonna, you know, see if
(01:39:27):
we can build on it and continue to get better.
And he went a little bit more in depth here
real quick already, Autodell, I wish him well, I really do.
Like I said, my feelings haven't changed. I wish him well.
You know that's from a personal standpoint. He's a good
friend of mine. We still haven't talked, but that doesn't
change things. I wish him well, I wish him the
best in his career. But I'm worried about the guys
in our locker room. I'm proud of these guys. How
they were able to focus up despite all the it
(01:39:49):
was going on this week and how so that's the
full introw to that quote, beyond just the end of it. Huh. Friends,
but we haven't talked, you know, you know either're not
good friends, and know he's happy that he's gone, and
you don't have to worry about it. They could all
move on and go someplace. You can go to some
place resident and Baker go ahead and worry about what's
up with that offense. Here's what Kevin Stefanski had to say.
(01:40:13):
And in this game, they're gonna be things that come
up week to week, uh that that you have to
address and deal with and and move on. And that's
what we did. And I felt like the focus was
there all week. They they showed it today by good rittens.
They'll let the door hit your butt on the way out.
Do you okay? Keep coming back to odab I make
fun of all these debate shows that spent four days
(01:40:34):
talking about Odell Beckham Jr. If you're a team that's
thinking about him, right, and let's just let's let's use Seattle.
Do you look today and see what the Browns did
and think, Oh, the only thing really different about Cleveland
from last week to this week is Odell Beckham Jr.
Isn't on the sidelines. I mean, does what happened today
(01:40:58):
with the Browns maybe change if you want to risk
bringing this guy in seeing how well they played without him?
Or No, No, I don't. I don't look at their team.
I look at my team and see what I'm deficient at.
Then if I need a big time wide receiver, somebody's
gonna stretch the defense. Uh yeah, I'm I'm picking them up.
So I really don't care what Cleveland looked like. Um
(01:41:19):
with Odell without O'Dell doesn't make a difference to me.
Uh And then real quick before the Sager gets in
here one more time tonight, Dak Prescott after the tough
day for the Dallas Cowboys, we got beat. We got
we got thumped in every aspect of the game, especially
on offense. Didn't get it going. I mean we scored
a couple of touchdowns there um in late tim but
(01:41:40):
I mean never got going. I missed some throws, we
didn't throw and catch the ball as we normally do.
Some asked if his time away caused the frustration today.
I mean, obviously I wasn't as clean as as I
normally am um or as I've have been tough to
say and blame that. I mean, I've spent a lot
of time off and came back in the first game different.
(01:42:01):
So I'm not gonna sit there and blame two weeks
when when I had a great week of practice. There
you go. Tough one for the Cowboys, it is, Yeah,
that was I mean, and and look, Bobo's right. I
mean Cooper, Wilson, lamb all had two catches today, So
you really don't need any more wide receivers. That was fantastic. Yeah,
I mean they got smoked today, Arnie, You're not today
(01:42:23):
about the receiver depth. Didn't have a good game. One
final time tonight, Steve de Seger comes and rolling in
with a recap of everything that took place in the
sports world. What's going on, Steve? I hear the shows today,
the shows today. We've got a lot of NFL to
get to, including the Titans win tonight. But I will
mention that this Saturday college football on Fox TV is
(01:42:46):
going to be Oklahoma at Baylor noon Eastern Time, then
Maryland at Michigan State, and Saturday night eight pm Eastern
TCU at Oklahoma State. Georgia and Cincinnati are still one
two in the new a P Pole, but it's the
new Committee rankings that don't come out till Tuesday. But
this past weekend we had seven more teams lose that
are ranked, and that raises the total to almost seventy
(01:43:06):
already this season, with over forty of them losing two
unranked opponents. Massachusetts fired football coach Walt Bell, who went
two and twenty three. U. Mass has not won more
than four games in any season since it moved up
to FBS almost a decade ago. Marcus can be it's
a shame they can't play Arizona annually. The college basquell
(01:43:29):
straight lasses. Until you play half a team yesterday and
barely win that, I think that speaks for itself. The
college basketball season starts this Tuesday. The two late NBA
games went to Golden State and the Clippers each at home.
Golden States eight and one. They beat Houston, which is
one and nine. Clippers have won four in a row,
so they're five and four now. They defeated Charlotte with
a late run Paul George twenty points, nine rebounds, eight assists,
(01:43:52):
eight turnovers, and then the Brooklyn win at Toronto today
Kevin Durant thirty one points, seven rebounds, seven assists, seven turnovers.
The Monday night football matchup will be Pittsburgh hosting Chicago. Bears.
Pass rusher Khalil Mack is out for the game, as
he's running back Damien Williams. Bears running back David Montgomery
is expected to return from i R He's missed four
games with the knee injury, and Yes wide receiver x
(01:44:15):
Brown Odell Beckham will go on waivers tomorrow. The Browns
today we're winners forty one sixteen at Cincinnati. Baker Mayfield
two touchdown passes, Nick Chubb on only fourteen carries at
a hundred thirty seven yards rushing in two scores, so
the Browns had ten penalties they only had forty six
plays on offense, and they blew the doors off the
(01:44:36):
Bengals Joe Burrow two interceptions, sacked five times. Bengals are
on a by next week. Tonight's game went to Tennessee
over the Rams in l A at the site of
the Super Bowl this season in February. Remember will either
of those teams be there? There? Each seven and two
right now? Tennessee sixteen the final as Matthew Stafford had
a late touchdown but to costly interception second quarter including
(01:44:57):
a pick six, sacked five times, tw of penalties for
the Rams, and new Rams linebacker Von Miller was inactive
due to an ankle injury, so the Rams offense three
for three on field goals and that touchdown in the
final minute. Kansas City won a low scoring game over
Green Bay thirteen to seven. The Chiefs punter Tommy Towns
an average fifty seven yards on his six punts, and
(01:45:19):
he placed five of the six inside the Packers twenty
yard line. Kind of key in a low scoring game.
Still don't know if it's gonna be Jordan's love as
you're starting quarterback next week when they host Seattle, because
the earliest Rogers could be cleared from the COVID protocol.
Is Saturday, Jordan's Love had one late touchdown and one interception.
Green Bay was seven and one. Chiefs did very little,
(01:45:41):
very little on offense until a good final drive to
run out the clock, but the first ten drives for
Kansas City eleven first downs and under two yards of
Arizona was missing its star quarterback Kyler Murray and his
ankle injury, and they were missing DeAndre Hopkins, the wide
receiver out with a hamstring injury, and Cardinals still one
again with Colton McCoy thirty one seventeen. At San Francisco.
(01:46:04):
They sacked Jimmy Garoppolo five times, James Conner of Arizona
three total touchdowns nearly a hundred yards rushing plus five
catches for seventy seven yards. George Kittle did play, but
the Niners are oh and four at home. Cards are
eight and one over all, their up seventeen nothing in
the first half. Chargers kicked a late field goal to win.
At Philadelphia twenty seven twenty four. Keenan Allen twelve catches
(01:46:26):
a hundred four yards, but it was the old Justin
Herbert Today. Three total touchdowns. He was thirty two of
thirty eight passing three hundred fifty six yards. Chargers are
five and three, tied for first in the division with
the Raiders, and the Chargers play at Las Vegas to
end the season in January. Chargers on the road are
three and one. The Raiders lost at the Giants sixteen.
(01:46:49):
Raiders are expected to sign wide receiver to Shawn Jackson,
but the Raiders last three drives today a missfield goal
than an interception, and a fumble a miss field goal
from like twenty. It was the shortest missed field goal
this year Unreal Derek Carr one touchdown, three turnovers that
included a pick six just after halftime and the fumble
(01:47:09):
in the red zone in the final minute. Next Sunday night,
it's Kansas City at Las Vegas Jacksonville nine six over
Buffalo Josh Allen three turnovers, sacked four times and the
Buffalo running backs nine carries twenty two yards. So the
Bills are five and three and they lead by just
a half game in the division over New England now
which has won three in a row. Patriots are four
(01:47:30):
oh on the road this season. They wanted Carolina four
to six. Mac Jones, the rookie had a touchdown pass,
an interception, and a fumble, and a lot of people
have been talking about, including Larry Brown, who used to
be an anchor here and has his own sports website,
about Adam Archiletta, the CBS analysts for the Patriots game today.
Patriots were driving at one point and he said mac
jones favorite red zone target Jeff Kobe Myers, and then
(01:47:54):
immediately a touchdown past Hunter Henry, who's actually his favorite
red zone target. I gotta give Archilettis some credit because
either he was on Twitter and saw it immediately, but
it was right at the moment when red zone went,
he was self aware enough to go, I don't know
what I was saying. That's good, but he has zero
(01:48:16):
touchdown passed. That's the thing. Mike Greece, the ESPN Patriots reporter,
tweeted Jacoby Myers entered today with a hundred sixteen career
receptions and literally zero receiving touchdowns. So he called himself
out and said, you know, you say something sometimes when
you have no idea why you said it. Well, that
was me, So I thought that was pretty funny. Yeah, well,
not everybody can be Tony Romo. Often Tony Romo isn't
(01:48:39):
Tony Romo. Let's be honest, but I mean Jacoby Meyers.
That's the most career receptions, your first thirty five games
without a single receiving touchdown since the merger over fifty years.
Target to come up with that name was just a
little astonishing, Let's put it that way. Miami versus Houston
a combined nine turnovers in the game, which was a
(01:49:01):
battle of one and seven teams. Houston went over for
four on red zone touchdowns and law seventeen to nine
to Rod Taylor's back. He's off injured reserve from the
hamstring injury. He threw three interceptions, sacked five times. Texans
had fourteen drives and only fourteen first downs. They've lost
eight games in a row. Houston is on a by
next week, although arguably they've been on a by the
(01:49:22):
last couple of months. Atlanta kicked a field goal on
the final play to win at New Orleans. Baltimore came
back for the overtime win against Minnesota, and uh, we
do have Kyle Larson as your NASCAR Cup Series champion.
He won the finale at Phoenix. That's his tenth victory
of the year. He got the lead on a late
pit stop because he had the last pit stall on
(01:49:42):
pit road. From there, the driver can accelerate hard out
of the pit box, don't have to worry about the
pit road speed limit. And he got to pick that
pit stall because he qualified first for today's race. Back,
do you think, Steve, have a great week out next week?
I might be calling off work next week with the
Raiders playing on Sunday night football. I'm just letting you
right now. I'm sure Arnie will ruin it for you
(01:50:03):
with his TV. Yes, that's the thing. If if Arnie
would have the care to say, you know what, I'll
pause my TV. I'll get everyone in sync. But no,
he likes TV. Oh no, oh no, And I don't
want to deal with that. That's right, not actual play
by play. You just get it. Oh you're not gonna
(01:50:23):
believe what just happened. Well, I'm like too many. Oh
you're not gonna believe it. So anyway, Well we'll navigate
through that next week. Thank you, Steve. I would say
your college news of the day, Florida fired the defensive coordinators.
Does that mean they're gonna get rid of everybody. I
don't know. Florida fired their defensive coordinator today, are you sure?
(01:50:45):
And they didn't fire their head coach. That's why I
have wondering what they're gonna do. Um, Okay, well, Todd
Grantham has been on the hot seat for quite a while,
so uh d C Todd Grantham wasn't his fault, Shane Biemer?
Is that good of a coach? Eat that Florida? You know? Um?
(01:51:06):
I I saw a little buzz building in Big twelve
Country tonight that Texas Tech was getting ready to make
a higher Is this going to because I'm all about
things becoming the norm? Arnie. Are we gonna start seeing
teams not only fire their coaches earlier in the season,
but have the dude hired that they want to replace
him before the end of the season. Now, it's not
gonna become the norm. The story about Patterson, I heard
(01:51:29):
that they offered him that that they wanted him to stay,
and he said, no, thank you. I just wanted to
leave right away. So I don't know if that's gonna
be the new norm or one. And oh you know,
oh Geron, well he's staying. But they got rid of
mid season so I have no idea what's going to happen,
but hey, we're firing you, but will you please come
back to work? And I think Gerry Patterson was like, no,
(01:51:50):
I won't. I want to be the coach. What's funny?
Did you not? Not to get too caught up here
in TCU Baylor? But Gary Patterson got fired and still
went into the office and helped him game plan for
Baylor this week. That's how much he hates babe. I
talked to Brian Estrich They're played by play guy, and
he brought up a funny point. He goes, I don't
(01:52:10):
think Gary Patterson does anything else. He loves football so much.
So he went home, sat down and was like, I
don't I don't know what to do with my hands,
and ended up back in the football office. And you
have to get to two very important tweets that we
got in, so let's get to those quickly. Okay, Well
go ahead, well Pact twelve football gurup. I agree with
Arnie Dallas. Makes sense he'd be happy in Dallas logans
(01:52:32):
that guarantees him five and seven targets a game. Who
knows if galp can stay healthy. Plus Cowboy fans like
the drama, and Eric says, come on, Bobo, your cow
girls didn't look good today, did day? I agree, you
don't have room, but it's not as if you have
four all Pro wide receivers. So have all pro receivers? Wait,
(01:52:54):
who's where did this come from? A Reek? He's a
VIC fan, so he's he's feeling it today. I'm saying, like,
what what'll You're a Vikings fan. People sometimes think if
they tweet us, we don't respond. Well, Artie's gonna read
everything that agrees with him. Uh, and every single one
that is sent to the show, He's gonna like, So
(01:53:14):
I I'm the one that won't read your tweets. Now
when we come back, I've got more audio to get to.
We've got Arnie's picks and some really good tweets from
earlier in the show to share as well. Before we
get the big Ben Maller here on Fox Sports Radio,
Artie in Plank on a Fox Football Sunday into a
Monday Monday night football, you get the Chicago Bears in
(01:53:40):
the Pittsburgh Steelers siting. I can sense the energy. I
was just looking at the top of like, there's no
way the show is over. Now, wait a minute, we
got another hour we're that was last night. That was
last night. I also wish we did because there's still
so much to get to. But Artie, there is one
thing that super ce eats all. There is one thing
(01:54:02):
that everyone came for tonight, regardless of how bad they are.
It's time for Arnie's picks taken away, Steak Ingenius. I
don't know why you say how bad put me in
the mood, Give me a little music. What do you mean,
how bad day wore? I've been on fire. I guaranteed
you that Miami Dolphins were gonna win when I gave
my picks out last week and they won. And then
I gave you the winner of of the race today,
(01:54:24):
I said, Nix go. I mean on Saturday, nixco, you
were talking about his speed rating, how impressed you were
in some of the claiming, Oh no, no, no, he
had Nicks in his name, so that's why you picked him.
No No, I crunched the numbers. I looked at the track.
I said, let me, is it a wet track? Is
it a dry track? What he's done before? And then
(01:54:46):
I said, it's got Nix in it, so let's just
go with the Nix. All right, let's get to buy picks.
Let's start with a little college football. One big, a
couple of big games. Michigan is gonna be playing Penn State.
Um gosh, Michigan's on such a role. I'm gonna have
to take him in the pickup game on the road
against Penn State. That's gonna be a tough two weeks ago,
(01:55:06):
two weeks ago, two weeks ago. But they still have
one lost, the Michigan State loss. I thought they had
that game one, no reason they should have lost that.
It's a pickup game. I'm afraid to go pick him
on the road, but I'm gonna go with Michigan in
this one, and I'm on per two. I'm gonna take
him again plus the twenty against Ohio State. I think
that's too many points. And you know I gotta take
(01:55:26):
Baylor plus the six against don't Clahoma. You know that,
don't you Blake? I have to do that. Let me
get to the NFL real quick. I'm gonna take the
Cleveland Brown supposed to two and a half on the
road against New England. I still don't believe in New
England being that good. I'll take the Jets plus to thirteen.
I think that's just way too much against Buffalo esppecially
with the way the Bills look, I'm all over the
(01:55:48):
Arizona Cardinals lay in ten ten at home against Carolina,
and give me Green Bay minus the six at home
against Seattle, who's just putrid. So there you have my picks.
Do with them as you please, no longer strictly for
entertainment purposes. Only Look at the hate for the Seattle
(01:56:08):
Sea Laws. Yeah, there's a lot of hate there. They're
pretty much a donez. Oh yeah, they're they're a game
out of the playoffs. You really think you think you're
burying all these You're like, all they're done. Well, if
they make the playoffs, it's a good season. Right, No,
they're not making the playoffs, trust me on that. Do
you see where they are in the playoffs right now? Yeah?
I see. I have to stand things right here in
front of me. They're not making it though, especially in
(01:56:31):
that division. Well, get get Russell Wilson back next week.
Suddenly you at Odell Beckham Jr. To the mix. Nine
finger Wilson. Nine finger Wilson was just a joke. It's
just a joke. Okay, a couple of other quick post games.
I can't believe we've buried the lead on NFL Week nine.
(01:56:54):
Do you know who the play by play voice on
radio was for the Los Angeles Chargers today? Who was it?
It was our man, Isaac Lowan Crown get out of here,
right because Matt money Smith are our buddy caught COVID,
so he was out this week. I filled in, did
a great job. Ask me. I figured you with Brandon
(01:57:20):
Staley afterwards talking about the challenges of going up against
a stacked deck and the deck stacked against you like that,
you gotta you gotta respond. And this was the Chargers
win today. We needed to come in here and play
a good game on defense without two of our best guys,
and so I felt like we played good team defense today.
You know it was It was a tough game. It
was a hard fought game. Uh And and I'm really
(01:57:42):
proud of the way our guys played today on defense.
Big one for the Chargers after dropping two straight, right,
the Ravens had the bye week and then losing last
week to the Patriots. Could you imagine that they've gone
down the five D is supposed to be losing to
the Eagles and then the fans all over again, the
here we go bad loss is all over the place again.
You oh yeah, and especially with how that had been
(01:58:03):
the calling card for Anthony Lynn as you brought up
the last few years. Real quick, was it vintage case again,
Andy Reid didn't hold back, Guys played hard and aggressive.
We've seen things that have happened, and you saw things
today that happened with teams that are favored. You know,
you just you have to bear down every week the
best you can and find a way to win every week.
I just saw our last drive was vintage Patrick Kelsey Tyreek. Yeah,
(01:58:28):
that's what he's gonna You saw today. There was a
lot of upsets. So in this league, that doesn't sound like, hey,
our team got it out of victory. He's got to
be disappointed even though they got the victory today. And
you asked to hear from Mike McCarthy, the Cowboys Coachrightly,
we're all coach, we're all played all the way through.
So this first time I felt clearly our energy didn't
(01:58:51):
exceed our opponent. And and and that's that's disappointing. Bubby.
No bleep from the other side of the glass after
that one. But I would say I would say we
had two of the biggest shocks to me in the
NFL this year. Now, keep in mind, the Jets do
have wins over both a Bengals team who was the
(01:59:12):
number one seed in the West. Are the a f
C excuse me when they when they did beat him?
And the Titans one of their two losses. But I
thought today in how the Brown excuse me? How the
Broncos beat the Cowboys and what happened in the Bills
Jaguars game, Arnie, two of the most and both double
digit underdogs, two of the most shocking results we've had,
(01:59:34):
all unbelievable. Arnie, have a great week next week Cowboy Raiders,
Chiefs Sunday Night Football. It's gonna be a blast for Bobo,
for Danny g for Steve to Seger and Arnie span
your I'm Chris Planks. Big Ben Mallor is coming up
next on Fox Sports Radio.
