Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports. Yes, living the dream once
again on a fabulous NFL Sunday. This is Fox Sports
Red Zone Radio. Hartman and Ormburger reunited. After you were
laying at in Hawaii last Sunday. It was a nice
business trip you I went out there. It was work related,
(00:22):
nose to the grindstone. You just gotta keep an eye
on things sometimes. Well, our buddy Aeron Torres jumped in
and we had a good time last Sunday. But we
have a very busy Sunday once again today. Here are
the games about to kick off. Falcons at the Cowboys,
Saints at the Titans, Jaguars at the Colts, Browns at
the Patriots, Bills at the Jets, Lions at the Steelers,
(00:46):
and Buccaneers at the football Team. So those are the
games that are kicking off right now around the National
Football League. Well, we got a lot of things happening,
a lot of news around the NFL. We've had the
Ram story is unbelievable. Odell Beckham Junior gets signed and
you're thinking, well, what is he their fifth option? And
(01:07):
the very next day Robert Woods torn a sail out
for the season. So suddenly Beckham. Of course, we don't
have that game until Monday, so at least he has
a little time to get himself ready. But the timing
of his signing because then the bed where is he?
Is he with their fifth option and he's gonna be
a big part of that team. A lot of people
(01:28):
were looking at this from the standpoint of saying, like, well,
Odell Beckham Jr. You know they're gonna have to make
room with him behind Van Jefferson. That's not how this
league works. Look, when you're a special talent and you
have special route running ability and catch ability, they're going
to give you a shot to be the number two.
Cooper cop is their number one, But there's no question
(01:50):
that as soon as he's ready and he's caught up
on the offense, they're gonna try to feature O'Dell because
he's a special talent. Now, if he proves that he's unreliable,
then of course that number will diminish. But he's gonna
be They brought him in for a reason. It wasn't
just to sign him. Now, with the injury obviously to Woods,
he's gonna have a much larger role. They're gonna need
to count on on him to a certain extent here.
(02:11):
I heard that, Um, they're even considering having him return punts. Yes, yes,
that is the game plan. And uh. Sat An interview
actually featured an interview that he did. Uh he was
He was saying, Look, I've never joined a team in
the middle of a season, so I I obviously have
a lot of catching up to do, uh and acquaint
himself to Matthew Stafford. But I'm sure that Stafford is
gonna give him plenty of opportunities to prove his worth. Uh.
(02:34):
This is an interesting morning around the NFL one game.
I want to jump off before we really get things started.
Here is the Browns and the Patriots. And when we
look at the a f C got the Titans right now,
By the way, the Titans last four weeks, they got
a lot of impressive wins, uh, including and obviously beating
up on the Rams without Derrick Henry. But when you
look at the a f C, it's really up for
(02:54):
grabs right now. Eleven of the sixteen teams in the
a f C have a winning record, not five, winning
record five and four or better. Eleven of the sixteen teams,
and yet how many of those teams would you put
in your power five right now. Not well, it comes
down to say, three teams near the top at the
(03:17):
top right Bills. I would argue Titans, but you just
talk about a Bills team that lost to the Jaguars.
You're talking about a Ravens team that Dutch loss of
the Dolphins. But but talent proves out Kansas City. I
think those teams not Actually, I would put them in
that large middle section. I would say it's Baltimore, it's
the Bills, and it is without question. I almost would
(03:41):
have said the Bengals as well. You got these Titans
as those top three teams, and then the rest of
they have seen those middle five and four teams are
all buying for that fourth and fifth position. In my god,
what makes this Cleveland, New England game even more interesting
are the Patriots. The Patriots are one and four at home,
their four and o on the road. I mean, the
(04:03):
Patriots used to be the automatic at home, like they
never lose at home, and they're just really can't win
at home. But they're undefeated on the road this year.
So they're hosting this game against the Browns. Browns have
the ball first. Browns looked outstanding last week without Beckham
one of their best games of the season. Baker Mayfield
is in a quarterback for the Browns, But your former team,
(04:23):
the Patriots. I mean, seriously, if you had a vote
right now for NFL Coach of the Air, belitic Is
definitely get some nods. With a rookie quarterbacks and he
at five and four, especially having lost all four games
at home. Are you sold on New England or are
they a playoff team? I think they very easily could
be a playoff team, especially considering what else has happened
(04:44):
in the a f C. Just as we were talking about,
there's just a lot of these middling teams that are
gonna have to prove an end of the season. How
many times have we seen the Patriots all of a
sudden have a late season surge and put it all
together when it matters the most. That's the DNA of
a Bill Belichick coach team. Now, they are dependent on
the run because they're still breaking in mac Jones, but
(05:04):
heck so are the Browns. I mean, this is a
crucial game to see if there's gonna be separation in
this conference, and it's gonna be a physical battle because
both these teams want to do the same thing. They
want to get to the quarterback, they want to put
on a huge pass rush, and they want to run
the football because this is in a Baker Mayfield reliant offense.
And on the Patriot side, they're not relying on Mac
(05:27):
Jones yet. Week to week, you don't know. Last week
was one of the craziest weeks in the NFL. Stunning upsets.
How about the Cowboys getting humiliated at home by the
Denver Broncos. We were sitting here, they were dound thirty
to nothing. At that point, Dak Prescott was eight of
twenty three. They had no offense at all. Well, right
now they're hosting the Atlanta Falcons. Opening drive for the
Cowboys are already in the red zone, motoring down the
(05:50):
field down to the thirteen yard line, looking for our
first score of the game. That is a bad pass
there by Dak Prescott. But um again, week to week,
you know, how do you account for the Bills losing
to j Actually, I mean, how how does that even happen?
You're you're fifteen point favorites on the road against the
Jacksonville team that has no business winning a game home
or on the road and not only lose, you lose
(06:11):
nine to six. Yeah, it was a gross game, but
they had a good plan and they executed it and
and they got breaks. Look, sometimes it's better to be
lucky than good, and bad teams can be good teams.
And it happens more often in the NFL then it
feels like it does in the NBA and Major League Baseball.
It bears out that way because everybody's got talent. Just
(06:32):
a matter of how cohesive your offense and defense and
special teams are, how good the coaching is. Urban Myers
brand new to this at the professional level. Touchdown, Ceedee Lamb.
The Dallas Cowboys made quick work on their opening drive.
They lead the Falcons six nothing in Dallas. That was
a nice little throw here on the three men uh
(06:52):
bunch set and you got the corner oute from Ceedee
Lamb and just clean beat his corner. All right. A
very different Cowboy team than though when we saw a
week ago that opened up down thirty to nothing. And Jones,
by the way, as a town about evaluator, that was
their first rounder last year. Ceedee Lamb, he is a
highlight piece of this opus. And Micah Parsons this year.
(07:15):
Maybe the steel of the whole draft. He slid down
the board out of the top ten. They trade up
to get him, and uh he's proven to be their
most valid last year because of the COVID And by
the way, yeah, and uh, well, it's amazing how well
some of the guys who did not play last year.
(07:35):
Chase didn't play last year, Slater didn't play well. He's
having a phenomenon. Could be all Pro as a rookie.
By the way, the Browns are right now down to
the one yard line of the Patriots. So the Browns
opening drive is looking very impressive right now as they
are just motoring right down the field, running the ball
very effectively. In fact, Johnson is in at running back.
(08:00):
Ernest Johnson has been one of fifty eight yards rushing
on this opening dry. He's been one of the great
stories of the NFL. This is a dude who was
was emailing in direct messaging Alliance of American Football Teams,
the professional league that Charlie Ever saw put up that
only made it eight games and then failed. Um, he
(08:22):
couldn't get in anywhere. Finally caught on in the NFL,
got a chance after injuries to this backfield with the Browns.
I mean he's waiting behind two really solid running backs.
Finally got a chance and had a breakout game. And
here he is touting the rock for a close to
six yards early in this one. Yeah, they did a
direct snap to Johnny Stanton right there. What kind of
(08:43):
call was that? Uh? The Ernest Johnson four carries for
fifty eight yards and a half yards and carry And
this is gonna happen on the other side to the
Patriots and the Browns. All they want to do is
run the football, and the Browns are establishing that here
in the opening drive. All right, Baker Mayfield little rollout
throws touchdown. No, No, he played past. He got it
(09:07):
knocked out of his hands by Adrian phil What happened.
He looked like he was about to raise his hands
in celebration with the catch, and as he did. Watch
the replay here the ball gets knocked out of his hands.
He was trying, still trying. He had the back of
the football on the catch. Baker Mayfield on the play
action fake rolled out to his right, found in Joke
(09:28):
Wu who was making room in the back of the
end zone, and as he was trying to defense and
play by Phillips. Oh my gosh, he knocked it right
out of his swatted it right out of his hands
and goal at the one. Alright. So New England tried
to hang on and keep the Browns out of the
end zone on this open and it was almost picked
off in the back of the end zone by mccordy.
(09:49):
That was a rough throw and decision by Baker. What
do you do here if you're Cleveland? Now, so many
teams are going for it on fourth down instead of
settling for field This says he was very lucky this
was not intercepted. He missed him completely. If you get
down to the one yard line, okay, and and you
get down to the one yard line and your offensive
(10:10):
minded coach Kevin Stefanski says, we're gonna send the field
goal unit on. I mean that sets the tone for
the rest of the game. You have to go for
this plane, by the way, you need to put it
in the end zone. All right. Buffalo has taken early seven.
Nothing laid against the Jets. Remember Mike White, who is
the quarterback of the Jets now insists, going back in
eighteens draft he should have been the number one overall
(10:31):
pick instead of the fifth round pick. He was of Dallas.
And on fourth down it is touchdown. They're calling a
touchdown down zone. They're gonna review it like all scoring.
When you when you see the official, it looks like
he got in. Does he have the ball? He has
(10:52):
the ball. He caught it twice, look up high and
then he's caught it. Caught it, got it, got it.
That looks like a touchdown. I don't see think to
reverse the call. Hooper who reels it him from Baker
Mayfield on the shotgun pass. All right, so we got
a lot of scoring going on around the NFL. Uh.
In fact, let's hear that Dallas score, Prescott and the
(11:13):
gone pointing maybe changing something. One receiver split wide right
back to throw looking laugh looking throwing into the end
zone from Lamb on the offside of the end tone
leaping toe touchstone towerys. Alright, so that's the Dallas Cowboys
radio network. We've got Dallas up seven nothing. Colt's leading
the Jags three nothing. Browns do have a seven nothing
(11:34):
late at the Patriots, builds up seven nothing at the Jets.
The Steelers get on the board first, seven nothing at
home against the Lions, and the Washington football team three
nothing over the Buccaneers. We're just getting started. For all
the updated information as it's happening, keep it right here
on Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. This is Fox at
(12:00):
ZWN Radio and we've got the place that you may
have missed. First down from the fifteen Almus pressure steps off,
looks ends on the side and touched on. It's not
Breda on the wheel and the Bills take a six
to nothing lead with twelve fifteen left in the first quarter.
Now back live to the studios of Fox Sports Radio.
(12:24):
This is Fox Red ZNE Radio. That was w g
R and the Bills Radio network of the Bills have
already scored more points today than they did last week
against the Jaguars. Alright after that embarrassing loss. They are
(12:45):
up seven nothing against the Jets. No, it's time for
the NFL Fox Focus. Well, look who's back. Our dear
friend Mark Sanjez is joining us once again, getting ready
to broadcast that game between the Chargers and the Vikings.
(13:05):
How you doing this morning, Mark? Oh guys, I couldn't
be any better. We're fired up. We are fired up
for this game. This is a really interesting betting line
on this game. You see the Vikings coming in at
three and five, the Chargers at home are five and three,
and yet the Chargers are only three point favorite. The
Vikings five losses by combine eighteen points this season. So
(13:29):
when you look at the Vikings, are they are where
they are as three and five team or are they
sort of a sleeping giant so to speak, ready to
merge and maybe have a breakout game here? Mark, They're
so interesting, right, it seems like their first half they explode,
They score on their opening drive. You know, they scare
(13:50):
you in the beginning, and then things kind of slow
down in the second half and they're not quite the
same team. But you you nailed it. I mean, all
these NFL games are so close. We saw it last week,
you know, Jacksonville upsets Buffalo, So any given Sunday it
can happen. It's just where are they going to go?
And they're at a point in their season where they've
been through a tough week, they're losing a lot of
players to injuries to COVID and and they really got
(14:13):
a lot to prove on the road here in uh
in l A against the Chargers. So, um, listen, I
would not be shocked if it's a one score game
or last possession game, because they seem to take it
down to the wire every time. And it seems like
the Chargers when they're they just end up on the
other end of it, on the winning end of it.
So they're gonna have a lot of momentument home. But
this definitely is a statement game from Minnesota. Yeah. And
(14:36):
when I watch Minnesota, and we've watched a lot of
their games here Mark, you know, in the morning session,
you know, I I see a good team. I see
a lot of talent across the field. What's been the problem?
Why can't they close out these close games at the
end of game? Is it coaching? Is that the players
not executing what happens? Well, I think everybody you know
(14:56):
is has their hand in it, obviously, but it's it
seems like they leave a little too much time on
the clock or you know, but well I think that
back because they handled their business against Carolina. Um. You know,
they're a field goal away from beating a couple of teams.
Literally on the last player of the game, the ball kick,
the clock ends, it hits you know, four zeros, and
(15:16):
then they lose. So I mean they're doing everything that
you're supposed to do to be in these football games.
It's just sometimes they don't have the ball last and
if they can't control their own destiny that way, it
seems that they end up on the losing end of it.
But you know, at three and five, remember with the
extra game, and it looks like Green Bays pretty much
(15:37):
running away with that division. You know, they could they
could be fine losing this game potentially, but the problem
is just a team morale, right Like three and six
feels so bad. Three and six feels like, you know,
right after the halfway point, that hurts, and that's hard
to get guys motivated again when you get back in
the building. So you know, they could really use a
(15:59):
win and get to four right here and try and
somehow win a wild card spot. But I mean, right now,
it's a long shot. Thankfully they got the seventeen game
season to do it. But um yeah, I mean to
come out here, fly across the country, lose, gotta fly
all the way back with everything going on in that building,
that's a lot. That's a lot to overcome. So they
could really use a one today, all right, Mark Santos,
(16:19):
He'll be on the call for Fox as the Chargers
host the Vikings. Uh. As a former NFL quarterback, I
gotta ask you this. So Brandon Staley comes in, and
he's a big analytics guy, and the one thing we've
seen a lot from the Chargers this year's fourth down
means nothing. It doesn't even matter where they are in
the field. Uh, and they're converting. Believe it or not,
sixty five of their fourth down attempts are eleven of seventeen.
(16:43):
As a quarterback, and looking into the mindset of Justin
Herbert here, do you would you love that opportunity? I mean,
we've never seen it quite to this level, teams going
for it on fourth down, even if they're in their
own territory. As a quarterback, what does that do to
the mindset of a guy like Justin Herbert? Yeah, I
(17:04):
think it's such an interesting point that you make, and
it's so fun to watch. And also you have to
remember we sat with Brandon Dailey the other day after
practice and he reminded us that he's like, don't forget now, Like,
I'm a defensive guy, so I hate when teams go
for it on fourth down, right, Like, it's not fun
you're hoping you when I'm saying, hey, kick it, I
hope they kick it here. I hope they kick it here.
(17:25):
Whether it's a punt or a field goal, that's when
you want to go for it, right. And then the
other part is there's a real process to this. They
have multiple people upstairs going through the analytics of it,
and they know now when they're calling plays talking to Lombardi,
their offensive coordinator, they know first, second, third down, like
we got a shot here, So that changes you're you're
(17:47):
the way you operate on second and third down knowing
it's a third and ten and you're in a potential
four down situation. You don't gotta get all ten. You
just gotta get six seven, you know yards, and you're good.
You can check it down. Let your guys try and
break a tackle and get close to the sticks and
and you'll have a chance because we're gonna probably go
for this thing. Now, you've gotta understand it works in
(18:09):
some games some day some uh, some games it's been
you know, almost automatic right where they go like three
for three or three for four or something. And then
against Baltimore when it doesn't, when it doesn't work a
game can get away from you, right like you can.
You can really get you know, knocked off the map
there quick. If you miss a couple of fourth down
conversions in a row, give him a short field and
(18:29):
they capitalize on you. So the big thing coach Daley
said too was he's like, I don't care how we lose.
If we lose thirty to nothing or thirty, it doesn't matter,
it's still a loss. So we're gonna stick to our process.
We're gonna trust what we do and go with the
analytics the way we see fit. And so you know,
it's almost like the Golden State Warriors, right, Like nobody
was shooting three pointers like from half court like that,
(18:51):
but they started making them and they believed in it.
So when it works, it works. When it doesn't, it doesn't,
and you've got a player percentages, so I respect it.
It's I mean, they've taken the stigma out of this big,
bad fourth down, this big bat scary fourth down, and
now it's just another down to go execute. Yeah, it's interesting, right,
but third down is still really really important and the
Vikings really really struggle on third down right now, converting
(19:14):
under thirty six percent of the time in the league.
What happens to Kirk Cousins in this offense who protects
him well and he's careful with the football, but they
just don't convert on third well, I mean, it just
gives you short drives. They only take a few, you know,
seconds off the clock, not even a minute if if
it's a quick three and out, And that is just
(19:35):
frustrating for a defense, right, Like I remember being in
Philly sometimes and we'd run our hurry up stuff and
you know, you go on the field of defense, gets
your turnover, and you go a quick three and out
and you throw the ball a couple of times and
you just waste no time on the clock and the
defense has to run back out there after they got you,
you know, a turnover or something. I mean there were
(19:55):
almost fifth fights on the sidelines, like guys were pissed
to have to go back out there, like we just
got you the football, what are you guys stealing? And
so it's I mean, that's like a frustrating thing internally
for for your ball club. So I mean that that
has to just eat at them a little bit. But
you know, that's that's the way it goes. They gotta
they gotta hit their stride here on third downs, and
(20:17):
then you hear everybody talking about third down is the
most important down other than third down is first and second. Right,
Like you gotta give yourself opportunities, just just like soccer,
you just need shots on goal. Right, one of them
is gonna fall. So we just want a bunch of opportunities.
A third and short, third and medium. Stay out of
the third and long because everybody knows what you're gonna do.
You're just gonna check it down the defense that played
(20:38):
near the sticks, and you're gonna play the field position games.
So get me the third and short, third, medium, and
let's you know, let's convert half of them. Guys, that's
all we gotta do. And they just have to break
it down a certain way to like, like I said,
take the stigma out of this thing and and you know,
get a little confidence. But sometimes you stirt downs. These
four downs, their conversions, they're like grapes. They come and bunches. Man,
(21:00):
how do you rate Sophie mark um, Oh, this place
is unbelievable. I think for a fan experience, one of
the coolest places I've been, uh placed, like Dallas, even
Minnesota really cool stadiums, but this one. I mean they
built it underground, right, you know, because it's near the
airport or whatever. I guess, and that's you know, I
(21:21):
guess you had to for high restrictions and stuff. But
I mean it's not like they spared any expenses on
this thing. It is gorgeous, really really cool. Yeah I am.
I haven't been there yet, believe it or not, but
I will be there. I'm going to the Thursday night
game between the Chargers and Chiefs next month, taking taking
my sons out there for that game. Mark. We always
appreciate the time. Enjoy the game today and as you said,
(21:44):
who knows, I expect the unexpected with any NFL game.
This is an interesting matchup Vikings against the Charges. We'll
talk to you down the road. Mark, thanks so much.
Sounds great. Thank you. That is Mark Sanchez again. He
will be trending what no trending end? Okay? Oh okay,
all right, so let me let's update you right now
in some of the games. By the way, just quickly
on the Chargers here, Yeah, last in the league in
(22:07):
rush defensety second the league, but they have the third
best past defense in the NFL. But here's a disturbing
staff for their defense. They are thirty in the league
in third down conversions for their opponents. Their opponents are
converting forty seven percent of their third down conversions. That
(22:28):
is a disturbing stat, especially when you're Brandon Staley, who
comes in as a defensive coach. Yeah. Well, and then
you look at the Vikings who struggle on third down.
So it's weakness against weakness in terms of the Vikings
offense on that down against the Chargers defense. Really, these
are two teams in very similar positions with the inverse
record of each other. That you know, you have the
(22:48):
Chargers who have won a handful of close games down
I do mean all five of them by four fourth
quarter comebacks. For Justin Herber, they've had two overtime victories
and they've won by combined of nine team points in
those five games. So you think about how many of
those have flipped in their favor and how many of
those have gone against the Vikings. Both teams could use
(23:09):
a win though. All right, let's find out what is
trending right now as we once again turn it over
to look who's here, Yeah, gangs, all here, are all here?
Loud and proud Buffalo Bills are obviously here. They're doing
some work early on. They're leading the Jets to nothing.
Josh Allen the right, Josh Allen the offensive quarterback. You know,
(23:31):
eight of eleven seventy six yards went touchdown pass. Matt
brita touchdown reception. He has three receptions for twenty two yards.
Colts have jumped all over the Jaguars early ten and
nothing is a score. Carson once four seven twenty three yards.
Browns and Patriots are opening drives are perfect. Seven seven
is a score. Mac Jones six and six fifty five
yards to touch them past the Hunter Henry from three
(23:52):
yards out. Cowboys leading the Falcons on Fox seven to three.
Saints and Titans nothing doing just yet. And Tom Brady's
trailing in Washington. Washington football team is up right now
six to nothing. And as you guys talking about a
bunch of other games, some of this, Mason Rudolph seven
ninety three yards in a touchdown pass Pittsburgh Lyndy treit
seven or nothing. That game is in the Steel City. Yes,
(24:15):
And as we have noted, Jared Goff has yet to
win a game when Sean McVeigh is not his coach.
He was Owen seven his rookie here before McVeigh showed up.
And of course now he's owing eight. That's Owen fifteen.
That's that's that's a trend. Okay, that's a serious trend
in the wrong direction. By the way, he was talking
about the Washington football team Buccaneers game. Here's how this
(24:37):
game opened up. Buccaneers have the ball first three and out,
Washington football team gets the ball field goal. Buccaneers get
the ball back interception, Brady throws an interception, and Washington
football team counters with yet another field goal. So that's
again Tampa ten point favorite on the road today and
they just stumbled right out of the block. Remember in
(24:59):
the season, Taylor Heineke and the Washington football team gave
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers all they could handle in the
wild card, Remember that before the Bucks advanced. So look, Heinekey,
he sees Brandy across the field as a challenge, not
as the goat. And this is gonna go wire to
wire potentially, Hi Heineke, Right now, five of seven forty
seven yards start this game for the Washington football team.
(25:22):
All right, we got we must have a ton of
highlights right now, So let's get him started. Shotgun snap.
They only bring three Rudolph Faye patterned hands, and there's
a man open and that's James Washington with his first
touchdown of the year. That is iHeart media is w
V W d V one or two point five FM

(25:43):
with the early seven nothing lead against the Lions. Shotgun Mayfield,
do You'arnes shots him on us right here? Mayfiel looks,
he throws and it's caught him the back of the
Hanson Boy Hooper touchdown and this Rod counts. Rods Radio
network Brown scored first with the Patriots answer back Day
games hid at seven heading into the second quarter, Jones

from the shotgun. He takes the snap back two steps,

Do I go? What is on the board? Did I say?
The Patriots answer back? There? It was night point five.
The sports hub and the Patriots radio network almost blocked
and it is. It's a block punts picked up by
the Colts around the ten yard line. It's a scrum

it's looking ugly earlier on the road against the Colts.
And that's the thing about the NFL, right, certain teams
(27:05):
they can put it all together on certain days, and
the Jacks did against the Buffalo Bills. But things regress
to the mean. You know, the Colts, they're kind of
a hot and cold team. They're gonna have great offensive performances,
defensive performances. Um, they've got Carson Wentz who was an
m v P caliber quarterback at one point in Philadelphia.
(27:25):
They got a real defense, the Colts do. So that's
a team that won't surprise you if they win big.
But the Jacksonville Jaguars to do what they did to
the Bills, you knew it was a bit flukey, and
it's appearing that way this week. What do you make
of the Steelers? I mean this team they opened up
with that upset of the Bills. When the Bills didn't
show up in the second half of that game, then
(27:47):
the Steelers looked bad in three straight losses. Now is
it right? Am Off big banned thirty nine years old?
He has done finished with a fork in him And
now they won four in a row. They're sitting at
five and three and they get the uh, the great
glory of hosting the windless Lions this week. Could could
make it five and row or re up seven at
the in that game. Tomlins never had a losing season.
(28:10):
He's going to Hall of Fame. I mean that's there.
You look at his resume against coaches are in the
Hall of Fame. He has a better record than Bill Cower. Uh,
and he's out in the Hall of Fames. Won a
Super Bowl, been to a couple. Uh. Well, how do
they do it? Though? I mean it is uge every week. Well,
they're a little defense, little offense that they spectacular. They
(28:31):
just grind out wins. They do. And I'll say this
about the Steeler's offense. It's not as bad as everybody
is saying it. Well, they do have Naji Harris. Harris
an absolute battering round. They just rushed it in. Is
that Bolden again? Yeah? This is off a turnover by
(28:53):
Oh no, it's Stevenson. Yeah. He was supposed to get
a lot of carries here was obviously the big carry,
the workhorse LA last week. And so another touchdown rushing
touchdown for the New England Patriots against the Browns. Again.
I told you it's going to be a feature piece
of run offense and defense all day long in this game.
But back to what we were saying, Steelers are also
(29:15):
breaking in a brand new offense Ben Roethlisberger. They're trying
to teach the old dog new tricks with this spread
out uh Matt Canada offense. He's the new offensive coordinator
there and and it's been hit or miss. I think
they're doing a good job featuring Nagy Harris. Obviously, he's
he's very talented and he gets those hard yards you
(29:35):
need in a hard nosed running offense. But they don't
really want to be that, you know. They want to
spread the ball out, they want to get athletes in space.
But with Trace Chase Claypool down um with Ben Roethlisberger out,
you could you could guarantee they're gonna be leaning on
the run this week. Absolutely. Mason Rudolph in for band
who of course another COVID casually there last second. So
(29:58):
Mason Rudolph at quarterback for the Steelers nine at thirteen
fifty eight yards. He has thrown an interception in this game.
Nag Harris twenty nine yards on the ground. Here was
the Colt's latest score. Wits takes the step, hands off
the Taylor right side, full head, his team flowers his shoulder.
He's down of the two yard line. Quit Nelson pushing
him towards the goal line, and he's in there. Touchdown
(30:20):
Jonathan Taylor touchdown VY. That is the Golds Radio Network seventeen.
Nothing colts over the Jags. How about these numbers for
Jared Goff in the first quarter at Pittsburgh two or
three for negative one yards. That is his uh that's
his passing stats for the first quarter. Two for three,
(30:42):
negative one yard only place goes up only place. He
completed a two yard passed to brock Wright and a
negative three yard pass the DeAndre Swift ad adds up
to minus one yard passings burning it around. You know,
what do you do with the Lions? I mean you,
I mean I I you just rolling the dice that
somehow it's gonna get better for Jared Goff. And it's
(31:04):
not just his fault, obviously, but again for a miserable franchise.
Now what Jared Goff, You're willing to take on his
salary for the draft picks? You know what I'm saying, Um,
that was the only reason why Jared Goff is in Detroit.
He it's the only reason why you were willing to
take him, as he came with a first rounder from
the Rams and you traded away Matthew Stafford. So you
(31:27):
have you have draft capital to focus on in the future.
But what about the players on the field today. You're
gonna have to find out who stays and who goes.
This is reminiscent of, but not completely similar to the
Seahawks when Pete Carroll took over. Now, they snuck their
way into the postseason, and they continued that inertia early
(31:47):
in his tenure, but that was a complete renovation. They
need to tear this roster down to the studs. They
need to rebuild it from the ground up. They need
to go into the draft next season and hope that
they find their starting quarterback of a future. It might
be Carson Strong out of Nevada, who I saw last
night up close and in person here in l A
taking on the San Diego State Aztecs. I called that game.
(32:09):
He had twenty different NFL teams scouts in attendance last night,
and trust me, the Detroit Lions were one of those
teams who had a scout in the building. So yeah,
the short lines, they just need to hold on tight.
It's gonna be a bumpy ride this season and hopefully
they start piecing it together in the draft. In the
off season, the Rams signed Golf to a four year,
(32:32):
one thirty four million dollar contract, of which a hundred
and ten million was guaranteed. Guaranteed hundred and ten million
two for three negative one yard first quarter against quarterbacks
in this league. Again, if you're gonna buy real estate
in an expensive neighborhood, and the QB neighborhood is an
(32:54):
expensive neighborhood, you're going to pay big dollar amount. Patriots
are playing their pay in their rookie quarterback a lot less,
but they're doing this shotgun snap is back to Mayfield.
He fired the cooker, hasn't the left side thirty to
the tent to the fifteen ten tight rupping stuff hang
out of bones at the Queensland four yard live alright,
(33:16):
So that was ninety five the sports having the Patriots
radio network. That interception of Baker Mayfield led to this
Jones from the shotgun. He takes the snaps back two steps,
looking what pros the Kraper Henry touchdown Patriots. Suddenly I'm
sold ain't going his on the board. Alright, So the
Patriots leading this game fourteen is seven Mac Jones six
(33:37):
and six fifty five yards and a touchdown. All right,
we're just getting rolling here. We're actually motoring to the
first quarters, heading to the second quarters. Keep it right here.

live to the studios of Fox Sports Radio. This is
Fox Red Zone Radio. All right, So the Patriots have
not scored three touchdowns. That was actually one touch and
done three different ways. Ninety eight point five the Sports
(35:03):
Hub and the Patriots Radio Network. Patriots still leading the
Browns fourteen to seven inside twelve minutes ago in the
first half. We have a bevy of scores. Let's get
rolling here, Sam third and six of the twenty twelve
thirty to go here, first half six something Washington hiding
steps up towards to the quarter of the ELTs. Got Carter,
We'll touchdown DeAndre Carter twenty yard touchdown gas for Taylor.
(35:27):
Heideaki w t e m the team night. Tom Brady
has already thrown two interceptions. Overrated Washington Football team all
over the Buccaneers leading that game by a score of
thirteen and nothing eight and a half minutes ago in
the first half, inside hand off, all line up in
(35:48):
the back of all, kind of roam along the left
sideline party party thirty twenty fifty ten five touchdown, ball
went to distance. They lined him up at running back
getting it's went six d six yards touchdown Jacksonville. Wow,
there you go. That's w j x L A M
ten TENN and FM ninety two point five Jaguars Radio Network.
(36:12):
And the extra point was no good. Indianapolis leading Jacksonville
by a score of seventeen to sick. Give me one more,
Sam out of the shotgowns Simeh fakes a handoff play
actor down FROs. It's the right side, complete four touchdown
free Kwon Smith right in the corner of the end zone,
wide open, leven yard touchdown. Saints w w L Saints
(36:36):
Radio Network, extra point, no good. Saints lead the Titans
by a score of six three to miss extra points.
Already there you go. Um, alright, So this Tennessee Titans
game where New Orleans leads by three points at six
three in Tennessee, Right now, Um, interesting situations. So Julio
(36:56):
Jones is out. A j Brown just took a hit
two plays ago on the sideline, slammed his head off
the ground out of bounds, and has been on the
sidelines since. He looks like he might be in the
medical tent, although the television broadcast hasn't shown it. He's
not on the field for a third down and a
fourth down play during the course of this drive after
(37:17):
the the I don't want to call the concussion, but
it certainly looked like one will. The New England Patriots
leading the Browns fourteen is seven backed up like the
half yard line. I'm not quite sure who just ran
the ball for the Patriots. That might have been the
toughest five yard run I have ever seen what you
got Ryan Now, guys, there is currently a play under
review in Washington as to whether or not the pass
(37:41):
off of Chris Godwin's hands was intercepted by Washington. If
it was, that would be Tom Brady's third interception of
the half. This is a no contest As far as quarterbacks.
Taylor Haneke is nine of eleven eighty three yards and
a touchdown. Tom Brady four of eight forty three yards
and two picks. Not a not a good start. Not
heavenly you know you want better fourth frost quarter performance.
(38:04):
What happen this week? I really thought Tampa was ready
to jump back in it and sort of re established
themselves as the team to beat. Meanwhile, New England is
breaking off another big run. So New England early way
back on their goal line, and we're seeing an offense
right now from these New England Patriots. Matt Jones getting
(38:25):
very comfortable in this offense right now. I'm just loving
the way this game is being played because if you
look at the box score, it ain't about the quarterbacks
like it is typically they Yeah, I mean you got
Romandre Stevenson with fifty seven yards on ten carries already
on the New England side. On the Cleveland side, you
got de Earnest Johnson with six carries for sixty two yards.
(38:48):
I mean, It's just smash mouth football in Foxborough right now,
and I'm here for it. Yeah, right now. The Patriots
have run the ball like I'm keeping every time I
look up the running ball again fourteen times. Matt Joe
this is only throwing six passes, but he can't get
much better. Six and six fifty five yards and a score. Meanwhile,
the Cowboys back on the board. Seven three Dallas. They've
(39:09):
got mcgovernment lined up. He was lined up at fullback.
McGovern goes to tight end on the left, Prescott under center,
hand off, Elliott plunging on the right side, walk the dog,
touchdown Lilliott. All right, Dallas Cowboys Radio Network. Cowboys leading
the Falcons fourteen and three. By the way, updating what
you were talking about, or actually Ryan was talking about.
(39:32):
Not an interception. Buccaneers retained the ball there, all right?
Do we have a Detroit Highway golf turns gives to
Jamark Jefferson. Jefferson pig hole to ted five head, don't
touch down Detroit Lions. Jamark Jefferson like a Bolton flightening
up on the left side, twenty eight yards to the house.
W x y T FM ninety seven point one the
(39:55):
ticket Lions Radio Network. Uh. Jared Goff, by the way,
has improved his step as he is now three or
four for six yards. Uh. I think giving it to
Jamaar Jefferson's probably a better idea. So seven seven now
Steelers and lines. Remember no big band for Pittsburgh today.
COVID he is out of this game for the Steelers.
(40:15):
Now you got Mason Rudolph in there, the second rounder
from three years ago, trying to get it done. And
we got a pass over fifteen yards in this New
England Cleveland game, mac Jones completing on a crossing route
over the middle. And you know that one of the
under I guess reported stories on the season is how
mismatch a group it's been up front for New England
(40:38):
trying to protect mac Jones. I don't think it's factored
all that much in the passing game because they've been
keeping the passes so close to the line of scrimmage,
which is why he's seven for seven in this game.
But but in general, when you can't allow routes to
develop downfield because you don't try going deep, New England's
going deep. There's the first in completion and well covered
(40:58):
by Cleveland. There. He was looking all the way and
he had a man behind the defense if he could
have connected there. But to the point like he hasn't
had a lot of time in the pocket to do
things like that in past games, and so so they
haven't tested the depth of many defenses over the course
of this early season. Alright, So seven games going on
(41:18):
right now, all of them are in the second quarter.
We're gonna be heading into the second halves of these games.
How quickly this sault operates around the National Football League,
And to be honest with you, we're actually seeing a
little more scoring today than we've seen in recent weeks,
which is good, which means we're very busy, and yet
we cover it all. Everything you need to know about

eight five, the Sports Hub and the Patriots Radio Network.
That was a thing of beauty. Patriots leading the Browns
twenty one to seven, five and a half minutes ago
in the first half, and the Patriots, who have only
(42:22):
won one game at home all year, are looking dynament
right now. Mac Jones is nine of ten sixteen yards
and two score. So that is one game that I've
really targeted this week is like, which one of these
teams emerges from this game is like, Okay, now that's
that's definitely a playoff team. Browns had momentum after last week,
(42:44):
but it is all New England so far today. The
Patriots look really good all of a sudden, Yeah, and
and they're getting good at the things that you need
to be great at late in the season to be
a playoff team. Right the running game, your defense really
creating some cloudy pictures for Baker Mayfield downfield with the
(43:04):
zone coverages and the man looks. They're mixing them in nicely.
And the Browns are facing a third and eight in
their own territory, trying to get something to go in
before the end of the half. The Cowboys are having
a big bounce back day today. It's just forced to fumble.
They might have it. It's on the Browns Brown's barrel.
Earnest Johnson was able to die back on it. They're
(43:25):
trying to screen pass. It got punched out, and then
the Patriots almost came up with a fourth down Brown's punning.
We were sitting here last week just flabber gas that
had how bad the Cowboys were down thirty to nothing
at one point to the Broncos. Not happening today, twenty
one to three Falcons. Excuse me, Cowboys in this game
against the Falcons, eight minutes to go in the half,
(43:46):
Dak Prescott is twelve and seventeen hundred sixty six yards
and a score. The running the ball well, Zekiel l
A a couple of touchdowns on the ground, so Dallas
has jumped off to a twenty one to three lead. Um,
it's hard of We are actually technically halfway through the
NFL season, and one thing we have noticed this year,
(44:06):
I guess we we see this every year, you know,
on a week to week basis, it's hard to really
trust that one team is actually that team. It's like
the Rams last week, right, I mean, they're playing a
Titans team at home. No Derrick Henry Rams, Arona Role,
and Matthew Stafford just goes brain dead at the beginning
(44:27):
of again, the interceptions were, what what are you doing
when you Carson Wentz where you're just throwing the ball
up for grabs, spinning out of the hold of someone
out of your own end zone and he throws a
pick six early fourteen, nothing whole and that was that well.
And we look at a team like the say the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers today, right Tom Brady has already got
two interceptions in the four first quarter. They're trailing by
(44:49):
ten three in Washington right now. And yeah, look, every quarterback,
no matter how great he is or whatever your opinion
of Matthew Stafford, whether you think he's right or you
think he's average or somewhere in between, he's gonna have
an off day one of these days. It's seventeen weeks
or eighteen weeks, seventeen games though, you have to be
(45:10):
perfect every single week in order for one of these
teams not to sneak up on you. And I don't
think Tennessee gets enough credit for that defense. They got
a huge rush on another team that's built for post
season play. And you're gonna see them because in the
NFC South, they're coming out of that that division. Justin Herbert,
the second year quarterback of the Chargers, after they came
(45:32):
from behind to beat the Eagles last week, he was
he really said about this is a guy in his
second year in the NFL, and they were talking about
snapping their two game losing streak, and he just said this.
He goes, it is really hard to win in the NFL.
I mean, it doesn't matter who you're playing or where
you're playing, everybody's If you walk off the field with
(45:54):
a victory, feel good about it. You don't have much
time to think about it. He had the moment, because
you gotta get ready for the next game. But just appreciate,
no matter it could be a one side of game,
a close game, home game, your big favorite big dog, whatever.
Appreciate just winning a game in the NFL. That's the
reason why, you know, I have such a hard time
(46:16):
when people come after a quarterback like a Alex Smith
in the past or Philip Rivers in the more recent past.
You know, guys should get you the postseason. Maybe they
never won you a championship, maybe they only got you
to two way championship game, or maybe not even but
they get you to the dance every single year. That
is so hard to do. It's so hard to do
(46:38):
in this NFL because just like a young Justin Herbert
is finding out, everybody's good at this level. So you
gotta bring your a game every single week. Otherwise you
have a situation like the Rams ran into They have
all the talent in the world, but if you don't
show up and play like an A plus game against
a really solid Tennessee Titans team, even with out there Henry,
(47:01):
you can get beat. Alright. The new superstar in New York,
Mike White not working today. No points uh five and
a half Inennasy on the first half, Bills leading this
game ten nothing. Mike White who proclaimed he should have
been the number one overall pick in the twenty eight
teams draft instead of a fifth round pick of the Cowboys.
He has ten of six team for twenty three yards.
(47:21):
You heard me right, He has ten completions for twenty
three yards. That's two point three yards a completion, and
he's thrown an interception between those two quotes. And I'm
I I didn't read the Mike White quote, so I'm
trusting you hear that that's the way he said it.
He did say it that way. This is this is
one of those things where you have Justin Herbert, who
(47:42):
had an Offensive Player of the Year Rookie of the
Year uh season last year, who goes, it's really hard
to win in this league. You have Mike White, who's
been anonymous in this league for years, and he got
his first opportunity this month, and he's talking like he
he should have been, as he should have been that.
But he just just study your playbook and try to
(48:03):
be the best he can this week because you're taking
on the Buffalo Bills, who, by the way, are one
of the best teams in the league right now. It's
it's just that's the deal. You need to understand humility
in the NFL, because otherwise you get stuck up on
real quick. All right, let's hear the Cowboys latest score.
First and goal at the two, Dallas up fourteen, free
(48:25):
Prescott under center. They're changing the blocking scheme. Elliott is
the back lamb in motion. They give it an Elliott,
he comes right up the middle, league bang over. They
go on touchdown and z ell Elliott Dallas Cowboys Radio Network.
So twenty one three, Dallas leading the Atlanta Falcons inside
six minutes ago in the half, we got a tie
ball game. It's knot it up at six in Tennessee
(48:48):
Saints uh and uh against the Saints and you got
the Tennessee Titans in the low red zone. So A J.
Brown who came out of the game with what looked
like a head injury, is back in. He just got
them down to inside the ten yard line on the reverse,
and I think, yeah, is it the New England Patriots
back in the red zone as well off of a
(49:10):
past interference penalty. I think they're crossed the fifty at
very least against the Browns, who just can't get anything going.
Leave for the Patriots is and to twenty six left
and a half. You we mentioned the Titans coming in
their last four games. They have wins against the Bills,
the Chiefs on the road, against the Colts on the road,
(49:30):
against the Ramps. Uh, they've been playing the best football
in the a f C. And you say, well, how
much are they actually gonna miss Derrick Henry. Well, today
they're missing Derrick Henry. Adrian Peterson three carries eight yards. Um,
you know the guy is gonna be a first ballt
Hall of Famer. But when you're forty eight years old
and running back you just signed last week, Yeah it's
(49:51):
not Derrick Henry. So but at Titans and Saints right
now tied at six Tannehills eleven and seventeen hundred forty
nine yards. He's throwing the ball well. I Meanwhile, Trevor
Simeon on the other side pretty efficient for the Saints,
not playing poorly. He's seven of eleven ninety four yards
and one touchdown. Of course, they were also without Camara
in this game, so both teams without their start running backs,
(50:14):
without their start running backs, and Jamis Winston wouldn't call
him a star, but their starter uh in New Orleans
out obviously with Simeon in you know, the Saints, that's
one of those teams where I'm not sure they're going
to be good enough for you know, for example, this
was speculated after Jameis went down, like for Philip Rivers
(50:37):
to come in and take over. At course we've been
talking about this and his dear friend Nick Hardwick, I
asked him if he got that call, would he take it.
He goes, absolutely, he would take it because well, you know,
obviously as a team at a Philip Rivers, it wouldn't
take him long to figure out that Saints playbook. He
could do it in an afternoon. And he's the perfect
quarterback for the Sean Payton offense because he is extremely
(50:58):
accurate in those type of roles that kind of offense.
They run, but and it's a big butt if this
s ain't dropped this game. And then let's look at
their schedule, right, I mean, it's not easy that division.
You got to go through the Buccaneers, who they have
a victory against, but they lost last week to the Falcons. Right, well,
they're at the Eagles, then they are the Bills at home,
(51:18):
Cowboys on home, at the Jets at the Bucks. I mean,
you know, it's it's not an overwhelming schedule. I'm just
saying that again. They need a healthy camera. That's you
could see them entering December still a five hundred ball club.
I mean, are you coming out of retirement to two
quarterback of a five hundred team, you know, especially with
(51:39):
the Buccaneers in that division. I don't know, I don't
I don't know if I am all right Titans right now,
I have a first in goal in this tie game
and it's intercepted. Wow, great interception, hit him right and stride.
There is a flag on the play, but it appears
that the Saints have intercepted past in the end zone.
(51:59):
We'll see what the penalty is. I did see Tannehell
getting off the turf. He's not moving. It might be,
and that's exactly what it's gonna be. Roughing the passer
against the Saints. That will nullify the interception and that
will be half the distance to the goal line for
the Titans. Bone head play? Is that really ropping the pet?
(52:23):
Come on, I have had it with that call. Is
that roughing the passer? No? Of course not? What is that?
Of course not. Look, he didn't go helmet to helmet.
He didn't go he held up the helmet. He didn't
hit the head. Are you kidding me with that call?
I'll tell you what I I understand. Ellis is out
(52:44):
on the field there, the defensive end for the New
Orleans Saints, who is guilty of the penalty, is out
on the field arguing with the officiating crew. Still, horrible call.
It was a terrible, horrible because again I understand how
it's written and on paper, you can look at a
rule and say, yeah, that's roughing the past. H. I
get it, because you hit not do that, You hit
(53:06):
him whatever it was two steps after you let go
the football. But you have to contextualize these things. You
have to look at how hard he hit him, You
have to look at him where he hit him. He
backed up, he had his hands in the air. He
was trying not to make hard contact. The ball was gone.
No no, no, no, no, no, horrible, horrible call, nullified
(53:27):
and interception in the end zone for the Saints. Ellis
is looking to replace. Are you kidding me? This is
where the NFL and Sean Payton is absolutely livit. He
has every reason to be. All right, continue update too.
We're closing in on the end of the first halfs
of all these games around the NFL. Keep it right
here on Fox Sports Red Zone Radio, Fox Red Zone Radio,
(53:53):
and we've got the place that you may admits. First
goal and this is bad news. That is Chase Young
down on the field, writhing in paint at the twenty
six yard line. Here comes the Washington training staff. Now
back live to the studios of Fox Sports Radio. This
is Fox Red Soul Radio. All right, that was w
(54:16):
T E. M. The team, Washington football team watching Chase Young,
non contact injury, crumbled to the ground, could be an
a c L injury. It did not look good as
he got carded off the field. However, despite that, Washington
football team is leading Tampa by a score of sixteen
and three. It is a mismatch of quarterbacks. Taylor Heineke
(54:40):
has a passer radio one point one and this guy
with the Bucks, Tom Brady twenty seven point six. Um.
So a mismatch of quarterbacks in favor of the Washington
football team, and that is why they are leading Tampa
sixteen to three as we are now, just seconds before
(55:00):
the end of the first half. I don't think anybody
thought this was gonna happen to Tampa putting up three
points in the first half. No, definitely not. But you
got McLaurin out for the Washington football team. He just
came out, jogged back out of the tunnel. He's on
the sideline now. Montes Sweat also left the game and
Chase Young. The fear is a potentially torn a c L.
(55:21):
Like I said, when I saw it, Uh, it was
non contact. He was rushing over the tackle. There wasn't
like a strong punch shore any severe contact. So you
worry that it's an a c L. You worry that
it's an achilles because his foot was planted and he
went down and then needed to be helped off the
field with the cart. Alright, we were talking about the
Titans and Saints after the inexplicable roughing the quarterback call
(55:46):
against the Saints. Titans did end up scoring on a
one yard run by Ryan Tannehill so in a minute
thirty eight to go on the first half. Titans lead
the Saints by a score of thirteen and six. Meanwhile,
New England is tacked on another field goal. They're just
wiping out the Browns twenty four to seven. Now, New
England leading the Browns. Mac Jones thirteen of fifteen a
(56:09):
hundred and thirty four yards, two touchdowns, no picks. Meanwhile,
Baker Mayfield tough to at the office, just six of
fourteen thirty six yards, a touchdown and and interception. Baker
Mayfield obviously playing through the non throwing shoulder injury this season,
both the torn laboram and a fracture to the humeral
(56:32):
head um. Look, it's it's just gonna be that kind
of season for the Cleveland Browns that they're gonna go
as the rotten game goes, and when you're trailing as
much as they are this early in the game, it's
tough to make it up, all right, because I don't
think they have that high power to an offense to
make up that kind of ground. Just want to jump in.
Buccaneers are attempting a thirty one yard field goal right
(56:52):
before the half against sixteen three Washington football team leading
this game. Bucks trying to get within ten. Ryan suck
up on the field right now. Me were like Cowboys,
They are just pouring it on snap Prescott, the blitz him,
He froze it left, Lambs in the corner of the
ends off and he walks under the ball, touchdown the
Seedee lamp his second and he comes up grinning at
(57:15):
Dalton Schultz and strugging his shoulders, saying that was too easy,
too easy, right. Dallas Cowboys Radio Network, twenty eight to three,
Cowboys blowing out Atlanta. Dak Prescott tough week last week,
just the reverse. This week he is eighteen of twenty three,
two hundred nineteen yards, two touchdown passes, no pick, ceedee lamp,
(57:38):
six sketches ninety four yards and on the receiving end
of both of those scores, Sekiel l a couple of
rushing touchdowns. So as bad as the Cowboys were last week,
they were shut out in the first half by Denver,
that's how good they look today against Atlanta. Yeah, yeah,
I I will say this about the Cowboys. Um DC
(57:59):
Prescott didn't look as accurate as he's had in weeks past,
prior to the caffeine injury against the Denver Broncos, and
I think that had a lot to do with it. Also,
Tyrone Smith is out, he got injured last game, and
uh will be out for this game too. Hasn't factored yet,
but those are issues right when your offensive line is struggling,
(58:20):
when your quarterback is coming off an injury, especially in
the lower body where you generate some of that torque
to get the ball out in time. They just looked
disjointed and lost that game poorly to the Denver Broncos.
And they've bounced back nicely, so they'll go. As Dacos
doc is, that whole offense is the engine that makes
the thing go. All right. Interesting game, not exactly exciting game.
(58:42):
We're at the half Steelers and lines are tied ten all.
Jared goff In this first half was four of seven
for eleven yards. That's the entire passing attack for the lines.
But DeAndre Swift thirteen carries seventy three yards. Jamar Jefferson
three carries forty one yard. You have a hundred fourteen
yards rushing. That's a pretty good Steelers defensive front. So
(59:05):
the Lions are running the ball very effectively, and that's
why they're tied up right now, tintin at the half
the way, guys, Cowboys just blocked a punt for eight touchdown.
Atlanta might as well just go home. It's well, well,
you know, well, I mean, can you think about I mean,
when you're down, I'm assuming the extra point would be
(59:25):
good here at thirty four to three, penning the extra point?
What was the worst halftime definitcly, can you remember in
your NFL career anytimes you were down four touchdowns at
the half? I want to say, yeah, I mean you
did play for Arizona a little bit there, right, Yeah,
we I had a season Arizona. Oh yeah, actually, I
guarantee the the what I think it's still tied for
third or it is the third worst shutout in NFL.
(59:48):
H that's right. That game. Yes, we went to Seattle.
We played against the Seahawks and they beat US fifty
eight nothing. So I don't know what the what the
halftime score was, but I can promise you it wasn't
good for good measure, guys, the Cowboys went for two
and uh, I believe converted it there. So they went
for two. Why they have something against the Atlanta Falcon
(01:00:14):
they're already Yeah, they went for two. Who is that?
Although you know we were we were talking about that
yesterday about how Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma coach, has all been
out of shape when Baylor called the time out tacked
on a field goal when the game was already won. Look,
I think we've had this discussion many times. Look, there's
(01:00:34):
no such thing as pouring it on. If you don't
like it, do something about it, right, Yeah, I mean,
you're on the receiving end of what looks like a
team rolling it up on, you do something about the
the only the only thing that you potentially could suffer
on because like all things in life, you know, uh,
fair game is turn about is fair game. And so
(01:00:55):
if you're the type of coach he likes to to
pile it on, eventually you're gonna run into a year
we have in a down year, and everybody's gonna want
to do the same thing to you. So right now,
Arthur Smith is getting taught a lesson as the head
coach of the Falcons by Mike McCarthy, the long tenured
coach of the Green Bay Packers who took over two
years ago with the Dallas Cowboys, and they are humming
(01:01:18):
on all cylinders this year. Uh. The Broncos game last
week with standing all right, Titans got in the end zone,
Tannahill under center, the Titans go up the middle and
it's a bigger roll Touchstann hell w g F X
one oh four point five the Titans Radio network. Titans
lead that game fifteen seconds ago in the half. And
(01:01:43):
uh it is thirteen six Titans leading the Saints in
that game. So we're at halftime and several of the
games right now those of the half Patriots leading the
Browns twenty four to seven has been all Patriots in
that game. Uh. Also the half we mentioned ten ten
Steelers and Lions and Buccaneers did get the sec up
field goals. So the Washington football team leading sixteen to
(01:02:05):
six at halftime in that game. By the way, the
Jets are hanging him, they did get a field goal. Uh.
So the Bills again, something is not right with the Bills. Uh,
Josh Allen and the Bill's offense only has ten points
in this game. Stefon Diggs catches the path how I
(01:02:27):
mentioned that really set them up beautifully from Josh and
I mean, look, it's like clockwork in this league. You know,
you start talking about it. Yeah, you had, you had
one on one coverage on the go route to Stefon
Diggs and he makes a great adjustment on the back
shoulder throw for the score before the end of the half. Alright,
(01:02:49):
And so what we're looking at some of these other
games right now? Again, Dallas did go for two. We
know why they went for two. Did they offer an explanation?
Because they're in Atlanta now? Thirty six to three, I
guess it does make it a five score game officially,
because you know thirty two is a fourth score game.
I don't feel a major Atlantic comeback in this game.
(01:03:11):
Well you never know. And by the way, I I
swore off the Falcons and my weekly picks. Every time
I picked their game either four or against them, I've lost.
So I looked at that game. I started thought maybe
Dallas is like a bounce back right after, but I thought,
I can't touch this game. And boy, I should have
shot you should have bought a dinner maybe totally. You
(01:03:36):
loved it, all right, let's find out what's trending right now.
Let's turn it right back over to the the the
Mr David Gascon. What's up, man? I should have seen
this after that inexplicable loss at home to Denver, big
bounce back day for Dallas today. You know what I
should have seen. I should have seen Sandy a state
(01:03:59):
rising from the now. Rich was at the game last night. Uh,
they had a nice lead seventeen seven. Next thing you
look out there, losing to Nevada. Winner of this game
controls their destiny. Did he get to the Western Conference
Championship game? As sex come back? Matta risa average what
fifty six yards of putting last night just under the
(01:04:20):
winning field goal? Three field goals then from him in
that game, plus the game winner at a minute twenty
left around there. I am telling you right now, if
they win the Mountain West Conference Championship, they run out.
You know they have at you n l V Boys
at home, and if they win, those two will be
in the mount West Conference Championship game. If they went
out and he sets the all time single season record
(01:04:42):
of punty and average, He's gonna be on my bellot
first round draft pick. He's gonna be on my final
and you can make him a Heisman candidate. Boom, he
will be on my final three. Hey, you know what Reds. Yeah,
he's he broke Uh. He broke the FBS record in
college football for the most sixty yard punts last night.
He's gonna break the fifty yard punks. He's tied for
(01:05:05):
that time for that time for that or broke that
as well last night. But he will break it. Yeah, unbelievable. Yes, Sam,
What would it take to rename the Ray Guy Award
the Matt Ariza Well, if he has a Hall of
Fame career in the NFL, might do it. I'm playing
right in your wheelhouse here, come on, thanks to do
people to go and see yeah award. If you don't
(01:05:25):
know the name Matt Rise, you will hear that name
in the NFL. Yeah, no question, guys. Uh. Tom Brady
not looking good for the Buccaneers today. A couple of
I in T S Washington right now is a ten
pointly at the break Brady in the first half eleven
one oh four to I N T S H. That's
nothing doing for the Browns either did down seven right
(01:05:46):
now to the New England patients they let seven nothing
until New England got on their horse twenty four and
answered points. They've actually had two drives, one go for
eighty three yards, another one go for ninety nine yards.
Right now they have the advantage bill seventeen three over
the New York Jets. The Colts up by fourteen six
over the Jags. All right, thank you very much, that, David.
All right, with halftime across the early games, Let's let's
(01:06:08):
focus on some of these afternoon games. The Panthers and
the Cardinals. Big twist here at the end, Kyler Murray
out once again. Colt McCoy will get to start. Worked
out okay for Arizona. Last week that line went from
ten to seven in a blink of an eye. So
Cardinals now seven point favorite at home. Meanwhile, a guy
that you're familiar with will start at quarterback for the Panthers.
(01:06:29):
From your Alliance of American Football days, PA Walker, P J. Walker,
Yeah he would. If there was an Alliance of American
Football Hall of Fame, he'd be first ballot guy. Right.
He was the best quarterback in the without question. Yeah.
He They that that team believed they won the championship.
(01:06:50):
There wasn't a championship, but they were they had the
best right just kind of like what was it Central Florida.
Here's here's here's what I don't understand about the Newton.
So when Matt ruland Joe Brady took over the Panthers,
at first they were singing the praise of Cam Newton
until they cut him because they realize he doesn't really
(01:07:10):
fit what we're trying to do offensively. Now they're going
to bring him back, and how's that gonna work? Um?
Because the kind of offense that they have implemented, as
they determined when they took over, really doesn't fit the
game of Cam Newton. Now it does or what happens.
I didn't blieme them from moving on from Cam Newton.
(01:07:32):
Kim Newton was often injured. Kim Newton doesn't run the
style of offense that Joe Brady wants to run, clearly.
I mean, if you look at what Joe Burrow did
at LSU was senior season versus what Cam Newton was
doing that seam season, it's vastly different. So I got it.
They they moved on to Donald. They signed uh Cam
(01:07:54):
Newton for two reasons. One, he's a veteran in this league,
and he was available. That's that's the first and foremost.
You're running out options unless you want to start the
rest of the year with p J. Walker. Uh. And too,
he knows Carolina well, he does know Carolina obviously popular
in Caroline. I'm saying, the training staff knows him. He
(01:08:15):
knows the locker room, a lot of the players still
around that building here. He's an automatic leader they bring in.
They're gonna have to curtail this offense they created to
Cam Newton and and get him going. But I mean
it'll be easy enough. Here's the thing about mobile quarterbacks,
and Cam Newton is still a dual threat quarterback even
though he gets hurt a lot. Uh. They're like vitamin C.
(01:08:38):
You inject the mobile quarterback into an offense, it almost
always looks better quick. Now can it sustain? I don't know.
That remains to be seen. He hasn't state injury free
or COVID free over the course of four seasons now,
so we'll see how long it works. Cults are leading
the Jaguars twenty two six. Uh. Trevor Lawrence in this
(01:09:01):
game is two of ten for twelve yards. That is
his stats in the first half there Trevor Lawrence two
of ten twelve yards do you believe? All right, Well,
let's get a Buffalo highlight him. First throw it in
chant from the twelve one by three set. They throw
it back to days of the left corner, and this
time he holds out to it in the end zone
(01:09:21):
for the touchdown. Javelin Guidry beat for the second time
in a row. This one counts, all right. So that's
w g R and the Bill's Radio network and Buffalo
now leading the Jets by a score of seventeen to three.
Finishing the point on on Trevor Lawrence, though, um, do
you have any caution on Trevor Lawrence's career being in
(01:09:45):
that organization? I mean, and and I'm not questioning whether
he has talent, but we've seen a lot of talented
college quarterbacks squashed simply by where they ended up going
in the NFL. I I'll say this about Trevor Lawrence.
I think the mentality is what I appreciate the most.
(01:10:07):
I see a guy who has all of the skill
set you need to play at this level, and he's
getting better. I I and that's not always reflected in
the statistics, but you can see him doing things at
this point in the season that he wasn't doing at
the start of the season. And development is key if
you can keep getting better every year. Was it a
perfect season for Kyler Murray? No, but it was good
(01:10:29):
enough um and and team wide, they didn't have success,
but he had a successful first season and you build
upon that. Now, Trevor Lawrence is starting way behind the
eight ball because they don't even have nearer as good
a team as even the Arizona Cardinals did three seasons ago.
So there's a lot of work to be done around him.
But I'm encouraged by Trevor Lawrence. Is urban Meyer the
(01:10:49):
right coach? Is that Jacksonville Jaguars All? That's my whole point.
I don't know that remains to be seen better. They
extinguish his talent. But I do like grit. I do
like his toughness. I do like the fact that he's
getting better regardless of what the circumstances are dictating. All right,
it's a broken record. Here's another Dallas Cowboys highlight. Forty
(01:11:12):
four seconds of high snapp He pulls it in block,
kicks block, and it is rolling around on the crowd,
and that's gonna be a touchdown. And it's Nashwan Right.
I rob it below. Nashan Right, who gave away last
week's block, Pop recoupled that in the end zone. That
is the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network. They went for two,
(01:11:35):
just to pour it on thirty six. That's three at
the half. Dallas blowing out the Atlanta Falcons. Matt Ryan
first half five of twelve, sixty six yards, Dak Prescott
eighteen of twenty three, two nineteen yards, two touchdowns and
a pick. Only seventy seven total yards in the first
half for the Atlanta Falcons. Yikes? Is Arthur how you
(01:12:00):
how you feeling about Arthur Smith? Their four and four
coming in this game? They've been all over the map.
That's why you stay away from them. The sorry predicting
week to week? Uh? Is he a keeper? What do
you think Arthur like? Arthur Smith? I think that from
an offensive standpoint when he was with the Tennessee Titans.
I like what he got done there. However, let's also
remember at Derrick Henry, who is arguably one of the
(01:12:21):
best running backs we've ever seen in the NFL. Um
and and that's elite company. He keeps at the top
of that list. Um, but yeah, look the Falcons. It's
a topsy turvy season for them. They're losing two teams
that you think they should lose too, but they're also
losing two teams that you think they should be Like
the Eagles. Earlier in the season, they got mopped up
(01:12:42):
by them week one. Uh, the Washington football team. They
took them all the way to the wire, but the
football team got to win at home in Atlanta. Earlier
this year, they just beat the Saints, but they were
fresh offul loss to the Panthers. So you just don't
know who the Falcons are. And that's indemn mack of
a first year head coach in this league. You got
(01:13:02):
to build a culture, alright. Jumping out a game that
probably we would not be expected to talk about. And
I don't want to throw it out there though, because
the Broncos really look good last week against Dallas. Maybe
it was a flukey week, whatever, But when you're up
thirty nothing on the road, you gotta take note. The
Broncos have a winning record, as does every team in
the a f C West right now, five and four
(01:13:23):
at home against the Eagles, and yet this game is
ready to pick them. So you got a three and
six Eagles team on the road, pick them against a
Denver team coming up a blowout road victory against the Cowboys.
So no one apparently taking that Denver win seriously? Should we?
(01:13:43):
I mean, one thing we do know is Vic Fangio
knows defense. They put a complete shutdown on that Dallas
offense last week. Should we be taking the Broncos a
little more seriously after what they did against Dallas last week?
I will say this about the Broncos, don't sleep their
defense still, even without Von Miller, they were able to
(01:14:04):
obviously rally after the trade, and Vic Fangio did a
good job keeping the locker room intact. And they went
into Dallas and they beat a very good Cowboys team,
and they were after Doc, they were hunting them down.
So I do agree with the pick him though, And
this is well because virtually anything can happen in this game.
(01:14:24):
You know, if the Eagles run the football as well
as they did against the Chargers last week, they could
control the clock. They could win this football game. If
the Denver Broncos get the Hurts and make him force
him to make mistakes, Denver Broncos could very easily get
the victory here. I think this is probably among all
the games we watched this season, you know, And I'm
(01:14:46):
I'm not even talking about the record because the Broncos
have a better record, but this may be the most
even matchup I've seen, So I agree with Vegas. I
think it pick him is appropriate. Alright, seven games going
on right now in the NFL, and we are starting
the second halves in many of these games. We continue
to update you everything NFL. Keep it right here on
(01:15:08):
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. This is Fox Red Zone Radio,
and we've got the place that you may admits golf
turns gives the Goblin cuts it up, gets another big one.
It's at the down of the fifteen at the time
(01:15:28):
at the Fox touched down Detroit. The poets, Oh my
good this God win it with bu Quay for forty
two yards out. Now back live to the studios of
Fox Sports Radio. This is Fox Red Zone Radio. That
(01:15:50):
was w x y T FM ninety seven point one,
the Ticket Lions Radio netwhere you want to hear some
crazy numbers. As the Lions take a sixty tenley but
of course they missed the extra point. The Lions. In
this game against the Steelers, Jared Goff is four of
eight for eleven yards, but they have a hundred and
(01:16:11):
ninety nine yards rushing in this game. Nine yards rushing,
eleven yards passing. Jared Goff, he's a winner right now.
Drew it up. I'm having a little dark chocolate right now. Really,
is that what you? Yes? That's good. Yeah, But Jared Goff,
I'll tell you what, And this is the way. This
(01:16:33):
is the formula to win. You hand the ball off
just enough of a decoy for this is destroit rushing attack.
He's averaging a whopping one point four yards. But imagine
if he wasn't, there would be the same Yeah. Uh,
and their averaging nine point five yards a run. Somebody's
(01:16:53):
got to hand the ball off, Steve, there you go. Meanwhile,
I looked up and I saw Tennessee was knocking on
the door and they got into the end zone. And
the Titans now lead the Saints by a score of
twenty to six. Uh So the Titans, you know again,
they come in as the one seed in the a
(01:17:14):
f C. Uh. It was Pruitt on a two yard
pass from Ryan Tannehill uh to up that score. To
twenties six. But if the Titans win this game, they
get to eight and two, very much in control. Is
the number one seed in the a f C. And
we talked about their wins for the last four weeks
have been against good teams. You know how this all happened.
(01:17:37):
They were on the opening kickoff of the half. The
Saints received first and fumbled recovered by Tennessee on the return.
And after that five play drive they get in the
end zone with that prew A touchdown pass. So a
really rough start to the half of the New Orleans Saints,
who made it a ballgame throughout most of the first half. Alright.
(01:17:59):
One game we're keeping an eye on is Washington and
Tampa and watching football team. Despite losing Chase Young. We
don't know the full extent of the injury. It does
not look good. Could well be an a c L
and if it's that, if it's a tear, he's done
for the year. They are leading Tampa sixteen and six.
The Buccaneers have done nothing. I haven't even gotten the
(01:18:21):
end zone. Only a couple of field goals wonard for
not just thirty three yards rushing and they only have
thirty five yards in the ground, Brady thrown a couple
of interceptions. Washington has the ball right now. Now you
would think because Washington mclauren's out, I mean, they've got
guys that are dropping like flies. However, Taylor Heinek is
fourteen of seventeen hundred forty three yards and a score.
(01:18:42):
Not much of a ground game. Um, this is This
is the kind of game, though, where you expect Frady
to wake up, Like what I mean, you play with
Tom Brady if you had a bad half, if Brady
one of those guys that goes in a halftime and
starts throwing things around, like, come on, guys, let's wake
up here. Well he's trying to em bear me or
why Look, there's two things that everybody knows. Is when
(01:19:06):
it's the quarterback's fault, or it's when when it's somebody
else's fault. Like if you have interceptions where it's bouncing
off of receivers hands and ending up into the defense.
He wants his receivers to play better, and he'll make
that known. If it's on him though, if he's making
bad decisions or the defense fools him, or if he's
under pressure and he costs one up. He'll take the
(01:19:28):
blame too. That's what good leadership looks like. It looks
like you take accountability when it's your fault, and you
know who's responsible, and you expect things of them when
it's theirs. And so there's no question about the second half.
The Buccaneers will absolutely need to show a better effort
and they will if if you're asking me to gas
(01:19:49):
all right, Uh, halftime score with seventeen three bills over
the Jets. Just starting the second half right now, Josh
Allen very productive first half six yards to touchdowns, no picks.
Stefan Diggs by the way, first half, like they have
this guy in your fantasy team. Halftime six catches, a
hundred eleven yards and to score those account of numbers
(01:20:10):
you're looking for. Are we looking for a Mike White
sighting in the second half. Yeah, he's been a m
I in the first half. Thirteen of twenty two through
the air, only a pick, no touchdowns. Josh Challon on
the other side of it, is having himself a day.
You mentioned Diggs, He's sixteen of twenty two with two touchdowns,
(01:20:30):
so uh, two ten through there. So look, I mean,
this is what's going to be the a f C. East,
it's gonna be the Patriots, it's gonna be the Buffalo Bills,
and it's probably coming down to that. We got a
big play from Hunter Henry and this Patriots offense out
in Foxborough leading the Browns. Yeah, the Patriots are all
(01:20:51):
over the Browns today. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh trying to come back
right now. They're down sixteen to ten of Lions, but
they're inside the Lions a ten yard line. Give me
a highlight, Sam Fix Pannahill looking throwing, hatching, scoring tad
Titans my goal throw it again. What a quick they
(01:21:15):
were they requivering defense. It sounds like they're struggling a
little bit there w g F X one or four
point five Titans Radio Network. And the Titans have that
twenty to six lead over the New Orleans Saints. This
is as good as I've seen the New England offense
all season long, no doubt. I mean, they're running the
ball effactively, throwing the wall effectively. They're just motoring up
(01:21:36):
and down a Patriots team that came in this game
with a home record of one and four. They're up
seven on the Browns. Seven apenntes to go on the
third quarter, and once again they are driving against this
Brown's defense. We got Mason Rudolph down near the goal line.
Here it's third and goal at the Detroit Lions six
yard line. Again, the lines leading sixteen ten. Mason Rudolph,
(01:22:01):
I mean, is he going to be the long term
answer for the Steelers? Hang in there with him? Yeah,
I mean they're they're keeping them around, They're trying to
groom them there. They're seeing if it can work. After
Big Ben finally steps aside and he takes the snap
and he's surveying and he bounced past his one. Two.
The ends on those don't count in the NFL at
the a you got away with one hoppers do not count.
(01:22:24):
By the way, the Bills have scored again, Isaiah McKenzie.
Eight are run twenty four to three. Now Bills are
leading the Jets, and the Mike White hoopla uh seems
to have been extinguished today. So for for day, for day,
he was like the biggest star there, thinking another Joe Namath.
But I think if you're Zack Wilson right now, you're thinking,
(01:22:45):
give me the ball back, let me see what I
can do at quarterback. All right into the second half
with these games right now, keep it right here coming

thirty six to three, Patriots blowing out the brownst one
(01:24:11):
to seven, Bills blowing out the Jets. Three couple of games.
Seven'll see, Saints just got the ball back trailing the
Titans twenty to six, Colts leading the Jacks. Jacks have
the ball right now, uh, twenty to nine. And then
two games that are up for grabs right now, the
Buccaneers getting that touchdown get back in this game against
the Washington football team, Washington leading sixteen thirteen, same score.
(01:24:34):
Lions leading the Steelers by the same score. So we
got a couple of games here. Hopefully we'll get down
to the final minute or so. And on the edge
of our seat to Detroit. Just had an opportunity on
fourth and five inside of Pittsburgh. Bills just scored again.
That was a nice job they're offensively. They've really taken
(01:24:55):
over the second half. I mean it's just been a
route and the route is on Brita gets into of
the end zone for the Bills. By the way, that
was after a one play, zero yard drive for the Jets.
Interception on first down by Mike White, his second of
the game, and they've gone to excuse me, sixty four
yards the Bills have in two plays, Captain with that
(01:25:16):
long run from Brita just outside the red zone. So
does now thirty to three in New York over the
Jets make a thirty one to three of the extra points.
So you know, you know, Jets fans, they've been so
desperate for so long to find the answer, and for
one shiny moment they thought that maybe Mike White, maybe
(01:25:37):
he's gonna be the next Kurt Warner, right, a quarterback
that just seems to merge out of nowhere. Not happening
today for Mike White. Nope, no it's not. And meanwhile,
I'm watching Baker Mayfield go down hard. G is being
helped up right now, and Baker Mayfield is down on
the ground. This is seven New England. Baker Mayfield, Let's
(01:26:00):
watch a replay what happened to him? He passed and
he went down. Oh and that right leg was twisted
slightly hard to tell. It wasn't planet. His foot wasn't planet.
Usually when you got the foot planet as when it
But he is in pain right now. And uh case,
Keenum is warming up Chase Keenham on the sideline, he'll
(01:26:23):
probably be entering this game. I mean, look, what are
you doing with it? Said? Look at this is the
story of Baker Mayfield, right is he your franchise quarterback?
And we're making this argument doing our show together on Friday.
Think about where the Browns were before Baker Mayfield. They
were one in thirty one. The two previous years, they
won a lot more games than they've lost with Baker Mayfield.
(01:26:45):
And yes, he's not the most talented or most imposing guy,
he's a winner. I mean, he has been a positive
for that Browns organization. But he's positive to the point
where you're paying him thirty million dollars a year. Well,
here's the problem. The guy who drafted him isn't the
general manager. Zeke fumbled. This game is a runaway, so
we won't spend much time here, but Dallas just fumbled
(01:27:06):
the football. We'll see if they give it to Atlanta
on the recovery or not. But they're losing thirty six
to three in Dallas right now, so either way it
doesn't matter. But back to what you're talking about with
Baker Mayfield. Look, I mean credit where credits due. I
agree with every point you just made about Baker Mayfield.
And do I think he looks like a franchise quarterback
(01:27:27):
in this league? Yes, But is he a franchise quarterback
like like Tom Brady or and Aaron Rodgers or one
of these got money? Now? Now, he's not even a
Dak Prescott. Look, he is a bottom of the second
tier quarterback most years. Last year he snuck into the
top ten statistically. But there are problems, and we all
(01:27:48):
know what they are. There are certain games where he
looks like he'll be a Hall of Famer, and there's
other games where he's he's just so erratic with the football,
or he makes poor decisions, or he throws a bunch
of interceptions, or he just looks off. You know, you
just have to be more consistent than Baker has been
over the course of his career so far. And again
going back to John Dorsey who drafted him, it's a
(01:28:11):
different voice in the room now, a general manager. As
the Browns brought in a new regime weaded by head
coach Kevit do you go to then then you have
to start over. It's not gonna be case Keeno. What
what I mean? Where do you go? Well, I mean
that's your I again, I agree with everything you're saying, Watson.
(01:28:31):
If things get cleared up this offseason, Aaron Rodgers wants
out of Green Bay, He's gonna go to I'm just
giving you names. I'm not saying that. I'm not just
picture a Rodgers in a Browns uniform. What's what's consistent
about every time Aaron Rodgers complained though, was on the
other side he got a lot of money. If I'm
going to pay a quarter, consistent he stays in a
(01:28:53):
Packers uniform. He's never gonna play for a team other
than the Packers. You think that's true. Yeah, you told
me a year ago he was gone, and he was not.
He's he's just playing games. It's a perpetual playing of
games with Aaron Roka. But DeShawn Watson truly wants out
of Hugh. He does, but he also has the right
of refusal on a trade. I agree, I agree with
(01:29:14):
everything you're saying. But my point is this, does he
want to go to Cleveland? Is there is there an
opportunity for the Cleveland to get better at quarterback with
a veteran instead of having to go into the draft. Yeah,
possibly do I do. I think that they're going to
do better than Baker. Probably not, So I agree with you.
I think most likely they should stay with Baker. Now
(01:29:34):
he's gonna stay healthy. They're going to need to make sure.
And he's a small guy. That was part of the deal. Six.
He's a tough guy, and he stands in them in
the in the pocket, he takes hits a thought. He
may not hold up as long as he's willing to
accept a salary that right now seems diminutive in a
comparison to a Dak Prescott. Yeah you have Yeah, I'd
(01:29:58):
sign up for five years right case. Keenan is getting
sacked every time he goes back to pass. This is
just getting ugly for the Cleveland Brands today getting blown
out by New England thirty one seven. There was a
holding call. They just waved it off. Mercy, Mercy, mercy,
give me another highlight here, Sam play. Actually Brady throws
a ball, touchsdown. It's Cameron Pray. Tis the best invitation
(01:30:23):
of a Brooks spike at the Buccaneers score our first
touchdown of the game. Nanny Rock and the Buccaneers radio
network buck still trailing the Washington Football Team sixteen third team. Meanwhile,
it's all Bills, double receivers to the right, the pitch
goes to Brido, turns the right quarter, he's got blockers
to the ten to the five touchs down and with
(01:30:45):
ten forty seven left in the third quarter, the Bills
hup on top thirty to three dole g R and
the Bills Radio network add the extra point thirty one
to three. Bills all over the Jets. So well again
we three games not in doubt. Cowboys are blowing out
the Falcons, Patriots blowing out the Browns, and Bills blowing
(01:31:06):
out the Jets. Other games getting interesting. The Jaguars had
a chance to get a little closer to the Colts,
but they missed a fifty one yard field goal attempt,
So the Colts still lead that game by a score
of twenty to nine. Eleven minutes to go in the
third quarter, and the Saints have the ball right now.
They have a second and four at the Tennessee four
(01:31:26):
yard line. Titans leading this game twenty six, but the
Saints now have the ball in the red zone, trying
to get back within a score in this game, and
this is a huge series. Is right here, second and
four right now, Trevor Simeon has a pass that's batted down,
so they're gonna foe say third down play here. I
I just love the way this Tenants Tennessee Titans defense
(01:31:51):
forces opposing offenses and quarterbacks specifically to play so differently
than they do. They just put so much pressure on
you with the game teams and the stunts and the
blitz is and frankly, sometimes they show blitz and they
rushed three or four and they're still getting home. They
confuse everybody they play, and these quarterbacks like Russell Wilson,
(01:32:12):
he'll make some confounding decisions. You'll see Tom Brady do
the same thing. The Titans are legit on d However,
the Saints that just runned into the end so right
through nobody touched them touchdown sat speak of the devil.
Like I said, this Tennessee Ingram getting into the end
zone there. For this was a beautiful play design there.
(01:32:32):
They call that the truck play. You gotta tackle pulling
out into Ali leading the way, and uh, that's that's
how you score close to the red zone. That was
a beautiful, beautiful decision by Sean Payton and excellent execution
by mark Ingram in the offensive line. Alright, so about
penning the extra point? We got a one score game
(01:32:53):
suddenly in this one? All right, we're taking you through
the third quarters right now. Which games will emerge? Is
the watch games in the fourth quarter? Find out? Just
keep it right here on Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
This is Fox rad Zone Radio. And we've got the
(01:33:14):
place that you may have missed. Pitch the right side
of Angram. He's got room run inside the ten five.
He is gonna score. Mark Abram rightside, touts down sakes.
Now back live to the studios of Fox Sports Radio.
This is Fox Red Zone Radio. How's w w L
(01:33:38):
Saints Radio network? As a trail the Titans twenty to twelve,
Saints kicker Brian Johnson has missed both extra points wide left,
wide left. If you miss two extra points in the
same game, go on, Is it time to look for
(01:34:01):
a new kicker? I don't know. That to me is
sort of an automatic disqualifier if you can't make an
extra point. Um, let's put it this blocked. I mean
these are just wide left, wide left. When you are
when when you are an NFL team, one of the
things where I should say a general manager in the NFL,
one of the things that keeps you up at night
is your kicker. Regardless of whether you have a good
(01:34:22):
one or a great one or just an average kicker.
At any moment, things could start spinning out. And if
you start losing games by a point, by three points
and it's a result of too many miss kicks, it's
only so long before your head coach goes, hey, we
need to upgrade this position. It's only so long before
the owner goes, hey, what's going on with the kicker?
(01:34:43):
And then you're tasked with going out and finding a
guy who can step in and get the job done.
It is one of the most frustrating things that pro
personnel directors and general managers have to deal with in
year to year. Every year, I mean, how many extra
points do we see missed? How many kickers struggles? I mean,
just again, there's a big difference between oh yeah, a
(01:35:05):
big difference, and it's all because the kicker can't make
an extra point. The Washington football team having a day
first and goal at the one Bates and motion handoff
GEPs it right up the middle powers through one tackler Nola.
There's a pile that touchdown touchdown Washington w t E
(01:35:27):
M the team. So the Washington football team leading the
Buccaneers twenty three thirteen, and I was just looking up
Tom Brady through one in the dirt on third and
six near midfield. So as they get ready for the
start of the fourth quarter, the Buccaneers are in trouble.
Down ten to the Washington football team out of the
(01:35:50):
I formation. First thing goal from the one. Jack Boss
takes the handoff, tries to pully his weight behind right
tackle that he said to the end zone for the touchdown.
All right, this one is getting really really ugly right now.
W g R and the Bills Radio Network thirty eight
to three Bills over the Jets. Josh Allen is nineteen
of twenty six three or three yards, two touchdowns and
(01:36:13):
note picks. Mike White fifteen three picks and no touchdowns.
So so much for the glory of the Jets. A
miserable day at home getting blown out by their division rival.
Get a little bit roughed up. There's no question about it. Um,
I'm watching Dak Prescott touchdown. Yeah, Doc taking it himself
(01:36:37):
on the naked bootleg and not feeling in Atlantic comeback
in this game two to three, compenning the extra point
all Cowboys. Yeah, yeah, I don't see a path for
a comeback for the Falcons. How about for the Cleveland
Browns seven New England thirty eight to seven? This was like,
(01:36:58):
this was of the games that we start the day
started the Marquee matchup right to five and fourteens brands
looked good last week without uh oh b J. Baker
Mayfield back. And you can never count out the Patriots
because I mean even last season one and four at home.
This year Mac Jones nineteen yards, three touchdowns note picks.
(01:37:20):
They have ad one yards rushing. We haven't seen this
guy to New England offense all season long. The production
last season two, right, you know we were talking about it.
You know, there's no way they're gonna go into l
A and beat the Chargers. They shut him out forty
five nothing. You know, It's just you can't count out
a well coached team. Do they have talent, Yeah, sure,
I mean it's mostly offensively residing around Mac Jones. They're
(01:37:43):
trying to get to the run more often to take
the pressure off the rookie quarterback, and they're doing it today.
Stevenson and Bolden. They've been running all over the stout
Browns defense. And then in terms of Cleveland, I mean,
they just can't get anything together. In case Keenum had
to come in last drive, let's hear the Patriots latest score.
(01:38:03):
Jones takes some staffs that two steps throws to Henry
hight open but on the end zone. So called it
and Jones delivered it. Second touch down of the day
for Hunter, Henry and the roodasson for the Patriots. That's
that's that is an understatement. That's the Sports Hub and
the Patriots Radio network. Thirty eight to seven, thirty three
(01:38:24):
to go on the fourth, blowing out Cleveland. Just looking
at the stat comparison on the day, twenty seven first
downs for the Patriots to eleven for the Browns. They've
converted seven of nine on third day, there's no deception
to this score. The Browns are seven. I mean, this
is domination. I mean, I mean you mentioned against the
(01:38:49):
Chargers last year. This is that game. Yes, they're having
one of those days where you're just annihilating sixty four
total yards to one fifteen of Cleveland's all right. One
game that is very much in doubt right now. The
Lions looking for their first win of the season, still
leading the Steelers sixteen thirteen just the start of the
fourth quarter. Jared Goff is seven of twelve for thirty
(01:39:12):
five yards. It's coming together, no problem because Detroit has
run for two hundred and nine yards in this game
against that Steeler defense. No big ben for Pittsburgh today
out with COVID, so Mason Rudolph average at best nineteen
thirty two, only a hundred thirty yards, a touchdown and
an interception. Nag Harris does have eighty three yards on
(01:39:35):
the ground, so we're gonna keep our eye on this one.
Right now. Pittsburgh has the ball trailing in this game
by a score of sixteen thirteen. Not looking good for
Tampa their last drive. You thought, all right, Washington scores,
Tom Brady will come right back, and this Washington football
team who lost Chase Young and all we can say
about his status is he's on the sideline on crutches,
(01:39:58):
which is never a good sign. Lauren's back in though, yeah, yeah,
in the first half he went out and then he
came back out of the tunnel after being taken a
locker room. Uh, he was ready on the sideline, and
so in the second half he's back active. He just
caught a big pass, getting the Washington football team closer
to the fifty yard line, still on their side the field,
(01:40:18):
and on first down get tackled out the line of scrimmage.
That's one thing that's really difficult to do against the Buccaneers.
If you're gonna win, you're gonna have to do it
through the air. They stop everything on the ground. And
so Taylor Heineke, just like last season in the wild
card round against the Buccaneers, proving to be pesky nineteen
today two four yards through the air and that touchdown. Alright,
(01:40:41):
keeping our eye on Tennessee and New Orleans just started
the fourth quarter right now, Titans leave this game twenty
to twelve. Telling signed for Tennessee again. How did they
fare without Derrick Henry Rich They only have fifty three
yards rushing in this game. They have no ground game.
So it's up to Ryan Tannehill and their past. The
attack by Marcus Johnson five catches a hundred yards. But
(01:41:02):
it's a different look for Tennessee. Oh, it's certainly they're
not going to be able to just hand the ball
to the big guy grounded out. They're gonna have to
do it during h or through the air. And Ryan
Tannehill he's up to the challenge. So far. He's been efficient, right,
fifteen six five in the touchdown to prew It earlier Today,
they're they're really supplanting the run game with the short
pass game, getting the screen game going wide receiver, bubble screens,
(01:41:26):
shallow crossing routes, slam passes, you know, those comebacks to
the sideline things that Ryan Tannehill feels comfortable doing close
to the line of scrimmage, and that opens things up
down field. All right, I'm watching a completed pass here
by the Steelers trying to get themselves in scoring position
against the Lions. Lions lean six. By the way, it's raining,
(01:41:47):
the weather is miserable. They just called offensive pass interference
against the Steelers of play that you don't see often,
but there it is offensive pass interference against the Steelers
on a ball that was caught. Watched the play here,
Rich it was, it was, oh wow, it's not that bad.
It's not that bad. He barely put a hand on
(01:42:08):
him and he was just leaning back Washington to catch
the pass. And yeah, I mean, look here's I wasn't
sure if he was inbounds anyway, to be honest. And
here's what they're looking for. Did you hit him with
like the broad part of your form or did you
put place a hand on him and extend your elbow
as soon as you create that extension where you're an
(01:42:28):
arms length away from a defender, if the defender sells it,
which the Detroit defender did, you're gonna get called for
O p I. It's rare, but it happens all right.
Third and fifteen for the Steelers right now they are
in Lions territory. Third down is gonna be short of
the first down, so you're gonna have about fourth and
four right now, be looking about a forty nine yard
(01:42:50):
field goal attempt. And again it is raining and cooled. Yeah,
that was a really good job by Nazi Harris. So
it was just an outlet pass he made fire Mouth
what said the friar mouth trying to lay a block
down field barely got in the way, but a lot
of effort from Harris to get just a few extra
(01:43:12):
yards for their Kickerwell Boswell has been in the news
the last couple of weeks. Way to get blasted by
trying to attempt to pass. He nails the field goal
right down the middle fifty one yards. So we're now
tied with eleven thirty one to go. On the fourth quarter,
Pittsburgh and Detroit Lions looking for their first win of
the season. Uh, and they are tied at sixteen each.
(01:43:33):
Think about how important that last play to Nazi Harris was.
So he picks up on that pitching catch ten extra
yards to get them closer to the chains on a
play they should have gone for about three yards. Yeah,
and it's a It's a fifty one yard attempt and
Boswell strikes it through in the pouring rain. So the
Steelers tie the game up, and we have a big
(01:43:54):
play in this Tennessee Titans game. Yeah, Tennessee has the
twenty to twelve of Lee, but they got a big
run there and they are now deep into New Orleans territory. Meanwhile,
Tom Brady and the Bucks trying to get back in
this game against the Washington football team. We got eleven
oh four in County in the fourth quarter. Brady's got
the Bucks into Washington territory wide open touchdown Buccaneers. Mike
(01:44:20):
Evans wide open. I'll tell you this is this is
why the Bucks are so dangerous is because even when
they play a bad half, even even even when Tom
Brady looks like he's having a day where he's not
quite as sharp. The problem is if it's a close
game and you get to halftime and they can circle
the wagons, they can hurt you like that because they
(01:44:41):
have weapons all over the football field even though they
are somewhat depleted. Mike Evans comes up big for Tom
Brady on the outside and that was just your standard
nine route, a go rout, beats his defender off the line,
Brady finds him in stride at six points for the Bucks.
All right, let's find out what's trendy right now with
even more in on everything going on around the national
(01:45:02):
football leg. Here is a David Gas guy. Man. It's
it's kind of weird when you're watching a game and
then all of a sudden, you just go to a
commercial break and it starts switching the game that you're on.
UM for more competitive action across the United States, as uh,
Cleveland Browns are getting their tails kicked. Yeah, we've we
turned that game off. Yeah, that was foot to the
(01:45:24):
floorboard for Bill Belichick. Yeah. There's three games out there
now that are just yeah, I mean Patriots thirty eight,
Brown seven, Buffalo and New York Jets spills up thirty
eight to three. That game is absolutely dreadful. Uh. You
mentioned the Washington football team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That's
a competitive game with Flint right now. There are reports
(01:45:46):
right now from ESPN that Chase Young towards a c L. Obviously,
if that is the case, he'll be done for the season.
Cowboys forty three, Falcons three, Dak Prescott two touched into
the air, one on the ground. Matt Ryan been picked
off twice. He's nine of twenty one for a hundred
and seventeen yards in this contest. So obviously a handful
(01:46:07):
of games that just looked dreadful for the opening get go. Uh.
Competition wise, Titans and Sants are in a good one
for Tennessee's driver right now, fourth down and goal to
go at the Saints eighteen yard line, twelve Tennessee. That
doesn't sound go any at fourth and goal at the
eight team it's not good. Yeah, it's not good. That's
not going in the right direction. Lions and Steelers. That
(01:46:28):
is our most competitive game of the day and it
features an O and eight team and a broken Pittsburgh
Steelers squads. Sixteen is a score. Uh you guys mentioned
Washington nineteen right now against the Bucks with a pt
um Panthers and Cardinals later on today. Kyler Murray not playing,
DeAndre Hopkins not playing Vikings in Los Angeles against the Chargers.
(01:46:51):
What do you think, Steve? Do you think fans from
Minnesota in this game? There are a lot of Viking
fans in southern California. Look, there are more Charger fans
that are coming aboard. It's a very slow process. Yeah,
I think it's gonna have a bowl game vibe to it.
You can definitely tell the purple He's gonna say. What's
(01:47:14):
gonna stand out is the fact that everybody's gonna be
wearing purple. Who's supporting the Vikings. But I would say
even if the Chargers get a fifty fifty, that's that's
a move in the right direction. Their first their first
home game will be the next home game. Whenever that.
It's like, who knows a p Top twenty five is
out for college football at Georgia the leader, their tendant
(01:47:35):
of this season. Alabama jumps Cincinnati, so it goes Georgia, Obama, Cincinnati, Oregon,
Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Michigan, Oklahoma State, and
then Old miss I got goodness for rich Sandy Goes
State finally cracking the top twenty three. They've they've been,
(01:47:56):
but they dropped out. They've been on the top twenty
five for the past three weeks in the college football playoff, right, Well,
we don't talk about that. That's the only one that
you know what the University of Texas and Antonio. Do
you know who they're in front of? Iowa? Suck Iowa?
So Iowa's at e t U T s A. Is
(01:48:17):
that number five? We're San Diego State the socer Sam Hartman,
Sam Harkan Beacons or nine one or in the nations.
So there's such a fun team, man, I can't you know?
It would have been great to see if they did
not choke against North Carolina. How do you put up
(01:48:38):
fifty five and loose? Well, Steve talked to your son. Wow,
I know, Sam Hartman. I mean they every game they play,
I mean this game yesterday was two crazy. Sam Hartman
is still in the chase to get into my final
three in the Heisman. You have you still send them
birthday cards. You're killing your father, Larry. So you have
(01:49:00):
Kenneth Walker, Sam Hartman, and Matiza that could well be
you know what I got to tell you, right, we
got what three weeks left in the college football season?
Am I right? Three weeks left through the conference championship.
Anything could happen right now. I even said yesterday, I
think yesterday I had Stroud, I had Walker, and I
(01:49:22):
had Bryce sharing my top three, and I said, I'm
not I'm not married to any one of these guys.
Right now, show me something. I mean, I will say this,
the one guy that has the golden opportunity to lock
down the Heisman is Bryce Young. If Alabama could beat
George in the SEC Championship, if he if he puts
up a day against that defense, yeah, then he can
(01:49:42):
hand him Heisman Trophy. I don't think that's gonna happen.
By the way, the Bulldogs defense looks like they could
beat the Jaguars like they are loaded. All right, Titans
did get the field goal, Thank you very much. Day.
We'll check in with you a little bit later on
Titans got the field goals, so they're now leading the
Saints twenty three to twelve. We got a couple of games,
(01:50:03):
as we mentioned, very tight right now tied up. Lions
have the ball tied with the Steelers sixteen. All the
Buccaneers got that touchdown. Now Washington has it back. Uh
and they are leading the Buccaneers twenty three to nineteen. Uh.
Taylor Heineke has had a really good game today for Washington.
Twenty of twenty six, two and eleven yards, one touchdown,
no picks, that's a passer radio one twelve point five.
(01:50:26):
And of course Tom Brady, after a very slow start
throwing a couple of picks early, has a couple of touchdowns,
including this one Geoe Bernard in the backfield. Now on
third down, two receivers of the right. Here's the snaff
to Brady. Brad, you're looking thro the path outfield, there's
a coup ball. Having's touchdowns. Have a berry there you go,
throw the deep ball top Brady. Ever results on a
t V, Well, it wasn't that deep of a ball,
(01:50:48):
but he was wide open. Any rock and the Buccaneers
radio network. So twenty nineteen watching football team leading Tampa Bay.
We got ten oh five to go in the fourth
quarter of that game, and I'm watching Heineke scrambling around
picking up first downs. Is he a guy that Washington
(01:51:08):
could look at, Is maybe in the near future going
to be the quarterback? I mean, where are you right
now with Taylor Heineke? I like, I like his determination.
I mean, he actually reminds me a lot of the
quarterback he replaced in Ryan Fitzpatrick. He doesn't he doesn't
do everything perfect, but he does enough well enough that
(01:51:30):
you have to consider him if you're looking for a quarterback.
And I don't just mean for the Washington football team,
I mean across this NFL teams are gonna be noticing
what he's been able to accomplish with this offense, who's
varied with their complete roster due to injury at times.
Another being play and so Washington with another first down.
(01:51:50):
They are nearing midfield, running nice bubble screen to Terry McLaurin.
There came underneath some of those blocks up right there,
eight and a half minutes ago on the four a quarter.
So you know, Tampa down four. This is not a
game Tampa was expecting to lose. Uh and if they
come up short, then you have to look at where
do we stand in the NFC right now as far
(01:52:11):
as your power rankings are concerned. Such a funny way
to phrase it, like you know, like any team walks
into the Sunday, like you know what, this is the one.
We're gonna lose this one. Yeah. I will say this
though there. I've been on some teams where you go
out there and like we're gonna try hard, We're gonna
just we're gonna give it our all. We're gonna try
really hard and and with some luck and maybe a
(01:52:34):
little elbow grease, we'll get the job done. I've been
watching Detroit's latest drive in this tie game against the Steelers,
and I keep because I'm I'm really looking at three
games right now. I'm watching the Washington Tampa game. I'm
watching Tennessee New Orleans, and I keep looking up and
it's like replay at the same play over and over again.
I see Golf handing the ball to Swift and there's
(01:52:56):
still the thirty yard lights like groundhogs day. They're running
the same over and over and over again. It's third
and fifteen right now. Again, Whether is dreadful handoff to Swift. Yeah,
they're they're not going to take any chances, right, that's
for sure. Golf in this game is eight of fourteen
(01:53:17):
for forty yards, trying to win his first game as
a starting quarterback without Sean McVeigh. I misspoke. It was
a handoff left Swift. That that's your calling third and fifteen.
But that's really showing confidence in your quarterback, right A wow.
(01:53:37):
They are averaging two point nine yards a pass, but
they're averaging seven yards a run, which is why they're
running the ball. Detroit is punting now back to Pittsburgh
seven eighteen and counting in the fourth quarter, and the
Steelers will get the ball and they got a decent
return out of that. All right. Meanwhile, we're watching this
(01:53:58):
watching football team hammer right down the throat to Tampa,
trying to run down that clock one way to beat
Tom Brady used to keep him off the field, and
that clock is running. We're inside six and a half
minutes to go, second and goal play here for the Saints. Yes,
and a nice little scramble for Trevor Simeon or excuse me,
(01:54:19):
for Taysom Hill. They brought him in for the QB
draw and it was an offensive pass interference on a
screen plass a play ago. That's what backed them up.
Otherwise they'd be at the two yard line. Uh So
it's third and goal inside the ten for the scenes
twelve games. So if the scenes score here a touchdown,
especially well, they definitely are not going to go for
a kicked extra point. They're gonna go for to try
(01:54:42):
to get it down to a field goal game third
and goal. Trevor Simeon is back in at quarterback for
the Saints. He is looking into the end zone and
it is caught, but he's out of the back of
the end zone. There's also a flag on the play.
It was a lot going on there. He's he's the
(01:55:02):
receiver is saying that I was pushed out of the
back of the end zone. Let's watch it. I got
a pass by the way through three defenders. The foot
is on the line. He is out of But they're
now calling maybe defensive holding or offensive holding. What are
we looking at here? Right? Holding on Kevin Byard? All right,
so they're gonna call a defensive hold against the Saints,
(01:55:25):
which is gonna give against the Titans, which gives the
Saints a first end goal situation, trying to get right
back in this game against the Titans, trying to find
tray Kwon Smith in the back of the end zone.
They're bird well, they called him for a defensive I
guess he had the back of his jersey there right
Simeons throwing that knocked away. That's actually a good thing.
(01:55:49):
That fell in complete? Or was it? Did he catch
that ball? I think it was knocked out and he
fell on the ball. It's incomplete, I think again. Looking
for Smith on the play. Second and goal coming up,
all right, so again, twenty three to twelve, Tennessee leading
the Saints. Their kicker Johnson has missed both extra point attempts.
Otherwise it would be a nine point game right now.
(01:56:11):
And uh Tennessee comes into this game, is the number
one seed in the a f C, and they're showing
you why they got a lot of things going for
them even without Derrick Henry. So second goal right now
for the Saints. We're at six twenty four and counting
in the fourth quarter, and we're gonna keep our eye
on a run that will get close and now stop
(01:56:35):
him around the two inside the two yard line, and
they're right back where they were on third down to
to start this goal line series, mark Ingram rumbles down
the left side to the goal line, but stopped short
by the Tennessee Titans defense at the two. All right,
keeping eye and the Steelers as well. That game is
tied with the Lions. Steelers starting to drive at their
(01:56:55):
own thirty yard line and they're running the ball this this,
you know, at that kind of weather, and you know
what you're gonna see. You're not gonna see pretty football.
You're just looking for survival. Naji Harris is probably gonna
get a lot of carries for the Steelers. All right,
Here we go third and goal for the Saints. Right
now they're at the two yard line of the Titans.
Little rollout for Trevor Simeon throws it out of the
(01:57:16):
end zone. That is out of the end zone. So
what do you do now? Do you go for it
or you go for the field goal? To go for
the field goals an eight point game, I'd go for
it here because look, I mean you are at the two. Yeah,
I mean, how better of an opportunity could you ask
for in this game to come back and win it?
Then the two yard line and they're running off the offense. Yeah,
(01:57:40):
they're gonna Payton is gonna go for the field goal again.
It will make it an eight point game if they
make the field goal, which technically makes it a one
score game. But I'm sort of with you, man, you're
gonna get back to the two yard line. Yeah, what
are we doing? I mean, plus, you got if you
want to. Like, by the way, you're bringing on Brian Johnson,
who hasn't missed a field goal this year, but he
hasn't made an extra point. Let's see if this guy
(01:58:01):
could actually make a kick. He does, all right. So
it is twenty three fifteen now, Tennis Lee leading the Saints,
and we have got five thirty three to go in
the fourth corridor. All right, we got some big finishes
coming up. Keep it right here on Fox Sports Red
Zone Radio. This is Fox rad Zone Radio, and we've
(01:58:25):
got the place that you may have miss. Hand off
to Carter right up the middle, and he's in for
the touchdown. Thank you. The Jets simply get up to
the line and run it straight ahead, and Michael Carter
does get paid off and does indeed have a one
yard touchdown. Run. Now back live to the studios of
(01:58:46):
Fox Sports Radio. This is Fox Red Zone Radio. Well
that was the Jets radio network, thank you. Yeah, they're
still losing the Bills thirty eight to ten. By the way,
Mike White today, four picks, no touchdowns. Not a good day,
four picks for the savior. Mike White. He's had better,
(01:59:09):
has had many days but he had he's had better day.
He had day, he had day, but today it's not
that day. So any any Jets fan that was dreaming
that somehow Mike White was this, uh you know, savior
for the franchise, forget it. It's not happening. Um all right, Uh,
here's a game that we had not been watching all
(01:59:30):
that closely, but it's suddenly a game Jacksonville in Indianapolis.
The Jags scored and the Colts are leading in this game. Seen,
let's hear that Jag score. I Formason Robinson the running back.
They give it to j Robsward end zone touchdown, but
one yard touchdown run by James Robinson. W j x
(01:59:55):
L A M ten ten and FM ninety two point
five Jaguars Radio Network. They added a two point conversion.
So now the Colts are clinging to a twenty to
seventeen lead over Jacksonville. Plenty of time left, ten and
a half minutes to go. Uh in that game? All right?
Looking around the blog, games are all still blowouts. In fact,
(02:00:15):
New England uh now leading the Browns. Can believe the
score forty five to seven. Let's hear the latest New
England score staff tower over the play fake he throws
her right to the caught five Myers. He's hit immediately
by Harrisons. He touch he dies to the pilot. That's
a touchdown for Jacoby Myers. Alright, ninety eight point five
(02:00:36):
the Sports Hub and the Patriots Radio network. Uh. When
I hear the name Brian Hoyer, Uh, your former roommate
with the New England Patriots. He has come on in
relief of Mac Jones. He's done enough. Howyer is three
for three eighty five yards a touchdown. He has a
perfect passer rating of one fifty eight point three. Dozin
(02:00:59):
shocked me? You should have been a backup quarterback? Who me, No, No,
I'll leave that to the experts like Brian Hoyer. Yeah, no,
my dude, I'll tell you what. One of one of
my favorite guys in the league and continues to impress
me every time they he's asked to come into games.
He just how many times has he been signed and
released by the Patriots. It's been a few. He's got
(02:01:23):
a couple of championship rings, he does. I mean, the
guy is going at it all right. The game we've
been watching is Washington and Tampa. And you know the
Buccketeers got within four points. You figure, all right, this
is Tom Brady time, except it's not Tom Brady time
because they can't get the ball back. The Washington football
team has just been great. How many minutes have they
(02:01:45):
had on this drive? It is that one thirty and counting?
Is Tampa out of timehouse are wow? Third and goal
for the Washington football team. They get a touchdown here,
this is game over Tampa trying to hold him to
a field goal to have a chance run up the middle.
It is short of the goal line. That was really smart.
(02:02:07):
Did you see that? Did you see that he he
actually stopped his feet at the one yard line in Tampa?
I mean, well, now what do you do? Do you
go from fourth down? I guess you do because even
if they get stop you, they have no time out,
so they got to go. Course you do and they
need a touchdown. That's the point. Don't score on third down,
(02:02:28):
just get to the one yard line and scoring fourth
He actually stopped his feed. That was a really really
intelligent play and well coached by the Washington sideline. Yeah,
Ron Rivere is looking now at the clock. They're running
down the top play clock down a five four three two,
and there he goes time out, thirty one seconds left
in the fourth quarter. It's fourth down. This has been
(02:02:52):
a masterful drive and really a game for Taylor. Heineke
twenty six of thirty two, two fifty six yards, one
touchdown and no interceptions. So even if they're gonna go
for on fourth down, if they get the touchdown, game over.
If they don't get the touchdown, Tampa would have to
(02:03:12):
go nine yards seconds with no timeouts. Yeah, because they
lead by four, they have to score the touchdown. A
field goal doesn't do it for him. So either way, Yeah,
this is the right move here, and so we'll see
what they dial up. I'll tell you they went for
the zone read on that last play, and Heineke he
gave it, but he also could have walked into the
(02:03:32):
end zone himself. So I'm curi curious if they don't
go back to something like that here. All right, we're
also keeping her ally Tennessee, clinging to that to fifteen
late over the Saints a little more than two minutes ago,
and the Saints have the ball trying to drive down
the field. They would need a touchdown and a two
point aversion to send it into overtime. All right, we
(02:03:53):
got some big finishes coming up. There's only one place
to be by the way, touchdown, Washington. That game is over.
We're all the latest. Just keep it right here. This
is Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Fox Sports Radio has
the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all
of our shows at Fox Sports Radio dot com and
(02:04:13):
within the I Heart Radio app. Search f s R
to listen live. Fourth and goal at the one thirty
one second head off. Get that touchdown, touchdown, Washington. That
was w t e M the team. It is now
a final. The Washington football team is upset the Tampa
(02:04:34):
Bay Buccaneers twenty nine to nineteen. Meanwhile, we have drama
going on in Tennessee. The Titans are leading the Saints
twenty three to twenty one. The Saints just scored a
touchdown and now with one sixteen to go. They are
going for two points. However, they just got penalized Trump
(02:04:56):
in the tight end jumped offside, so they have a
seven yard two point attempt here. If they miss it,
it is game over. If they make it, we could
well be going to overtime. Simeon throwing the ball in
the end zone and that is incomplete game set match.
Titans advanced to eight and two on the year victory
(02:05:18):
at home over the New Orleans and there's still a
minute sixteen to go. You're telling me that the times
kill I don't know. I mean, you know, anything is possible.
I know one game we need it. We need to
get down that Colt's Jags game right now. Colts Jags.
You tell me Ryan Tannell doesn't have knees. Uh, okay,
just you watch. I mean, we've seen other weird things.
(02:05:39):
Until the Zeros are up there, we got the Lions
and Steelers. This game is just absolutely unwatchable right now
sixteen all. I mean, it's watchable in the sense that
we're gonna go to overtime most likely in this game.
But the weather has been miserable, the game has been
not much to watch. Jared Goff's eleven of eighteen for
fifty four yards in this game, and yet the Lions
(02:06:00):
have a chance to win their first game of the year.
All right, So here are the Saints. They're kicking off
right now again. They are trailing one to the Tennessee
UH Titans. All right, watching this Indianapolis Jacksonville game that
suddenly got back into play. Jacksonville got a touchdown in
a two point a version indie, leading twenty to seventeen
(02:06:23):
inside three minutes ago. They have a third and seven
indie at midfield, and Carson Wentz has been scrambling out
of the pockets, rose it's complete, but saying it's in
Michael Pittman with the reception play what a catch? What
a throw? Cheese? Oh man. So Carson Wentz was ranging
(02:06:45):
to his right side, evading the rush, and Michael Pittman
was on well, looked like a post route that he
broke off on the scrambled drill and it became a
deep over caught the ball on the sideline toe drag
stayed in it, and they convert the first down. All right.
The Saints attempted an on sidekick recovered by the Titans,
(02:07:07):
and now the Titans are taking the knee. I had
the Titans minus three and they're leading by two. Well
you missed that one just by. The two games I
had were Tampa minus nine and a half. They lost,
but I was gonna say, which was a good effort,
and then Tennessee minus three and they went by two,
(02:07:29):
so that both of those did not pay out what
we call yeah, And then of course I took Arizona
minus ten before I found out that Kyler Murray wasn't
playing right right, which also may have been a mistake. Ye,
So yeah, I did have Miami to the under on
Thursday night. I got a couple of points there, but
(02:07:52):
I'm killing me right now. Alright, So what games we
got going on? We got one game that's uh, Steelers
over time received the punt and so they have one
last possession before they had to overtime. Here, it's not
it up at sixteen in Pittsburgh, a rainy, sloppy game
at Hines, and so we'll see what they can get
(02:08:14):
done with just less than twenty seconds on the clock here. Alright,
the Colts now have a second and nine. They are
again with a three point lead against Jacksonville. What they're
trying to do is run clock, run clock as best
they have because they already have the lead. Uh, and
they have the ball at the twenty one yard line
(02:08:34):
of the Jaguars, who I guess at the very least
show their remaining competitive at this point of the season. Yeah.
If there's one thing you could say about Detroit and
the Jags both is urban Meyers got the Jaguars playing
hard nosed. They're they're still playing competitive, competitive football on
the same could be said about the lines and and
(02:08:56):
I mean that's all you can ask for for a
team with a lousy record, is that everybody remains engaged.
It's a sign of a culture that's heading in the
right direction. How does that happen? Which just happened an
offensive holding against Fisher on the Colts. I mean essentially,
all you're doing is just sort of running the clock
down here right, maybe at a field goal and you
get called for a hole that backs it up ten yards.
(02:09:19):
Jonathan Taylor, who is now the league's leading Russia without
Derrick Henry. Uh. He has twenty one carries today, a
hundred sixteen yards on the ground and one touchdown. He
has become the running back we all thought he was
gonna be after his insanely successful career at the University
of Wisconsin, they were pumping him out for a while
at Wisco. There's no question about it, Melvin Gordon and
(02:09:42):
complained there for yeah, but it was despite all the
great running backs, they had not a lot of them
at success at the next level. Melvin Gordon, Ron Dane
obviously the Heisman Trophy winner. Ron Dane. We went way back, well,
WOA hold on right. Ninety nine is way back one day.
And it's not like I said, Alan Amici, I mean
(02:10:06):
I could have gotten nineteen. I was Dane nine nine nine.
I could have said Brian Calhoun. Rocky Masato was a
heavyweight champ at the tack all right, third and nineteen
for the Colts. There at the thirty one yard line
of the Jaguars leading twenty to seventeen, to pass over
(02:10:29):
the middle is going to be short of the first down.
That is going to be a fourth down now to
six to go uh in the fourth quarter of meanwhile,
we are overtime Pittsburgh and Detroit. Nice little reception by
Zach Pascal there. Carson Wentz has been doing a nice
job in some of these games. Just going through his progressions.
(02:10:51):
When he rushes things, he is one of the worst
in the league. He makes some baffling decisions when he's
under pressure, he's feeling the or he's feeling the rush.
When he has time in the pocket operator, he's one
of the better ones doing it. I promise you he's
getting better with this. Frank Frank offense alright field goal
attempt by the Colts is good. So twenty three seventeen,
(02:11:14):
Trevor Lawrence got time. They're down six, they got twenty
two to go. He's got plenty of time here. Let's
see if Trevor Lawrence, who started out this game not
so well, has played much better since. But he's gonna
have an opportunity down six to twenty two to go.
Will definitely keep our eye on that game and over
time between the Lions and Steelers. Meanwhile, two other games
have kicked off. That would be the Panthers and the Cardinals.
(02:11:38):
This is an interesting matchup because the Cardinals are gonna
be without Kyler Murray line dropped three full points in
less than twenty four hours. They were ten point favors,
now down to seven, and of course, the Panthers are
being led by a quarterback that made his name in
the Alliance of American Football P J. Walker. What do
you do you think they'll see Cam Newton today or
(02:11:59):
is it to sit? It's probably too soon. I would
guess that they got to catch him up on the
offense because even though he was there for a long time,
the things that they're running, the language they're using, I'm
sure it's all vastly different with the new head coach,
the new offensive system. So it'll be Walker today unless
there's an injury, and then you'll see Cam. I got
(02:12:19):
bad news to the Chargers since I'm owing two of
my picks today. I also picked the Chargers. Vikings have
the ball first in this game, and they're already a
midfield go writing down the field. Kirk Cousins quick two
for two, actually three for three right now? Uh, Dalvin
Cook running the ball and the Vikings trying to get
points on their opening drive of the game. All right,
So we're gonna keep our eye on this Jacksonville, Indie game.
(02:12:42):
Trevor Lawrence walking onto the field right now to seventeen
to go in the fourth quarter. I don't see the
timeout situation there. Do the Jags have timeouts? Do we
need to They have two time out and the two
point at warning as well, so plenty of time here.
Uh this drive will start. Let's look out in the
field right now at their own twenty five yard line.
(02:13:04):
So they are down six to seventeen to go to
time outs and the two minute warning, and let's see
what Trevor Lawrence can do on this drive. And right
off the bat he gets it hard and that might
be a sack fumble, and they're calling it. I think
it was hard. His arm was emotion for his incomplete
But well, I mean after after if I want to
(02:13:27):
go back to the tuck roll, which I'll maintain to
my last breath, was that's that's a past for sure.
The Forrest Buckner got into the backfield and don't Lawrence
is back and he was trying to throw the football.
It just got deflected by Buckner's contact with him. All right, Well,
the Jackson needed to do a better job. That offensive
(02:13:48):
line is where would you rank their offensive line a high? Alright?
Trevor Lawrence throws complete? All right, so they're gonna have
a the heard and one situation. We'll just keep it
right here for the uh see if they can get
a first down here. Meanwhile, the overtime is underway and
(02:14:09):
Detroit has the ball right now. Sixteen all with the Steelers,
and they are in Pittsburgh territory. Not shocking. Handoff up
the gut for the Detroit lines to the DeAndre Swift,
who's been uh, I mean, you could argue he's been
getting a lot of work today. He has, yes, anything,
anything to keep the ball out of the hands of
(02:14:29):
Jared Goff today. Also understandably, so with the rain, you
want to feature the run if you can get the
hard yards needed, and they absolutely have been able to
throughout the day. Sam. Yes, it's actually the first game
that the lines have rushed over two hundred yards since
they have two hundred and twenty two yards. DeAndre Swift
(02:14:50):
has a hundred twenty three on twenty nine carries. Meanwhile,
Jared Goff twelve or twenty one for eighty four yards.
But the good news is he hasn't throwing a reception.
How's that? Okay? Okay? Yeah, um, And so they have
the ball now a third and seven for Detroit. All right,
we're going to update you continuing. We got overtime in
(02:15:13):
that game, we got a big finish coming up here
with Jacksonville and the Colts, and we got games underway.
For all the information you need, keeping it on Fox
Sports Red Zone Radio. Steve Harbin, Rich Armburger. This is
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Well, one game is over.
The Indianapolis coltsa defeated the Jaguars seventeen. Trevor Lawrence got
(02:15:37):
the jackson midfield, had a scramble and as he was
going down he got stripped to the ball. It was
a fumble recovered by the Colts. Game over. Uh, he
was a little misty eyed on the sidelines, upset. It
was a really a golden opportunity for him, uh to
do it. He had to twenty two to go in
the game, two timeouts, two minute warning, but the he
(02:16:00):
was not able to get it done and the Colts
get the victory by a score of twenty three seven team. Meanwhile,
we got overtime going on right now on this game
between the Steelers and the Lions, and nobody wants to win.
This clock is running five sixteen and counting to go
in the overtime, and neither team is really threatened in
(02:16:20):
this overtime. Uh, Pittsburgh fumbled the ball after a reception.
It was a nice play. The Lions have the ball
at the thirty six yard line right now, they have
a second and eleven. They're running the ball very well
against the Steelers. DeAndre Swift has to have close. It
looks like it, but he actually has thirty one carries
(02:16:41):
for a hundred twenty four yeards. He has a lot
of carries. Always say that much. I mean, every time
I'm watching this game, it looks like he's getting at
least five yards per ros. Actually his carries keep going up,
the yards keep going down every time I updated. Here's
the update. Thirty three carries now a hundred and thirty
yards for DeAndre said two nine yards on the ground
(02:17:02):
for the Lions, which is good because net passing they
have sixty yards um. Jared Goff trying to win his
first game ever as a quarterback without Sean mcveigh's his
head coach. He is oh and fifteen without Sean McVeigh
and then and four they come up just shure, except
there was a flag on the play. Can you believe that?
(02:17:25):
For the Lions? How do you do that? So it's
instead of a fourth in one, it's gonna be fourth
and eleven. Goodness. It is just there's Lions. Are the Lions?
I wonder, I honestly do wonder this, Like what is
going to be the postgame reaction if the Lions lose?
From Dan Campbell because after losing a heartbreaker an old
(02:17:49):
o t earlier this year, you want to talk about
missy I, Well, they've lost one game, yeah he was.
They lost a sixty six yard field called the touch.
They lost a game on a fifty yard field goal.
Both of those games finished by a score of nineteen seventeen. Ironically,
this game is sixteen all alright, so we'll see after
this holding call, uh Santos? So the court. The kicker
(02:18:11):
for Detroit has already missed an extra point in this game. Um,
so he's hardly automatic and the weather conditions are not great.
Third and four team for the Yan's. They are at
the thirty eight yard line of the Steelers. Past play
is going to be well short of a first down.
So this is a forty seven yard field goal attempt.
(02:18:32):
How do you feel about this? You're confident on this
one after your kicker misses an extra point earlier in
the game. Not not confident? There is? Does he look
like the kind of kicker. You're like, yeah, I'll bet
the bank on this. I will say this the mustache.
The mustache does lead me to believe that he did
make a twenty yard field goal, but he missed the
(02:18:54):
thirty three yard extra point. Thirty three yards is longer
than this is for their first win of the year.
The Lions oh at eight and the forty seven yard
field goal right because it gets to sudden death after
the first two possessions, So next score wins and so
if he knocks this pure yea. The Lions advanced to
(02:19:17):
one in eight record on this season. Yeah, here's where
all they our breath right now and cammel back and
forth on the sideline, ready to celebrate with his team.
Why do I only have bad feelings? Ryan Santa Rosa,
his career long was at the University of Miami Santosa,
(02:19:39):
Santosa Santos. Here we go. The field goal attempt from
is about as ugly as you see that. They that
they never got more than five feet off the ground
and it was underneath. Wow, that was as bad an
(02:19:59):
attempt as you're ever going to see. Real pouring rain
right now in Pittsburgh, fans are celebrating uh, we're looking
at possible tie four oh eight to go in over time.
This ball barely got over the heads of the line
oh eight and one, potentially if the defense hole. Let's
watch this field goal attempt again. He kicked it, did
(02:20:22):
he slip and no, he just never got the ball airborne.
You know, I will say this and like at Campbell's
look on this kick, He's like Santosa does have a
very nonchalant field. Well, here's the problem, because they attempted
from the thirty eight. That's where the Steelers get the ball,
so they get good fuel fuel position, starting to drive
(02:20:42):
on their own thirty eight yard line. They're not doing
anything but passing. Remember there's no Big Ben in this game.
Mason Rudolph has been in the game, and believe it
or not, he actually has a lower passer rading in
this game than Golf does. That doesn't seem likely or possible.
He's averaging four point nine yards in a him. Golf
is four point two yards in attempt. Both the teams
(02:21:03):
trying to run the ball, Nag Harris is five yards.
Both of these quarterbacks fair better in fairer weather. You know,
I I don't think the whole boy, the staff goes
over Mason Rudolph's head. Naji Harris recovers and is snowed
over by a defensive lineman. Am I smelling a tie
in this game? Way back to the twenty yard? This game?
(02:21:27):
This overtime? Nobody, Yeah, the lines may get the ball
back here and very may possible have another Santosa field.
Let's go highlight. You're not gonna believe this. Cam Newton
six pounds, three time pro bowler, Cam Newton's Newton's gonna
run right in the grass, breaks a tackle Kaffrey. Everybody
(02:21:53):
celebrating touchdown right side? All right, that's WBT and the
Panthers radio network. But guess what it's not of seven
nothing Panthers over Arizona. It's thirteen nothing. Make it fourteen nothing,
as Cam Newton has thrown a touchdown pass to Robbie Anderson.
(02:22:16):
So in the matter of less than a quarter and
p J. Walker started a quarterback four of the Panthers.
But Cam Newton has run for a touchdown and passed
for a touchdown in the first six minutes of this
game in Arizona. Either way, this is really bad news,
not only for me today on my picks. But if
(02:22:36):
you're the Chargers right now, you're like, did you pick us?
And I said I did. I picked Arizona minus ten.
We're down fourteen nothing with six minutes gone in this
game against Carolina. I want to give this stat as
Detroit receives a punt after a failed Pittsburgh Steelers drive.
I've already conceded this isn't gonna be a tough if.
If the Detroit Lines lose. There the first team in
(02:22:57):
the NFL this year, that's guaranteed a losing record. It
in the seventeen games. There you go, there you go.
We have we have a little history. Magic number nine,
number nine, number nine, all right, Jared Goff, he just
has the look of a winner to to go in
the overtime. They will get the ball in that game,
still tied at six. Team, you know, the Chargers going
(02:23:17):
nowhere on their first drive of the game. They will
have to punt. No score in that game against the Vikings.
But how about this Cam Newton story? Huh? Touchdown pass? Touchdown?
Rushing by the way, is only too plays and um
fourteen nothing. Panthers early on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.
Colt McCoy at quarterback for Arizona, and that does not
(02:23:40):
bode well. I mean, who who didn't see this coming
week ten NFL the two quarterbacks facing each other in
this NFC battle would be, uh, Colt McCoy and p J.
Walker with the special appearance by Ken Newton. Of course,
all right, we're keeping our eye and the Lions. We
have to because that's our job. And GoF just got
(02:24:01):
sacked for a fifteen yard loss. It's believe me, we
would not be watching this game if we were not
sitting here. I mean an honest question. Can the refs
just call it? Are they allowed to say we're done? Well?
I mean at this point, if you're if you're Detroit,
you'll take the time. No, No, I'm I'm with you.
I'm just saying, like, for the sake of everybody at home,
(02:24:23):
and they just don't want fumble, which he's so capable of.
I just picture like head referee whoever it is, just
just pulling the coaches and just being like, guys, it's raining,
all right, So what do you call right now? It
is second and twenty three? Uh, if you already, why
are they switching away from the game? That's that was weird.
(02:24:46):
We have we have an overtime game the network. You're
looking at the red zone channel with a game, Prince.
I was like, did you just switch away from an overtime?
I know it's ugly, but wow, give me a highlight
right now? Newton trucking right, throwing right and touchdown Carolina Panthers.
What an exquisitely timely, gorgeous righteous football play, Righteous football
(02:25:12):
play w BT and the Panthers radio network. Have you
ever used at in any of your commentary during the
football game? Righteous? No, I can't say that. Oh, how
about Aaron Rodgers out firing? Open up this game against
the Seattle Seahawks. Uh, this is the return of Russell Wilson,
the return of Aaron Rogers. Well, I will say this.
(02:25:33):
After a brief stint off the field with the COVID
nine team virus, Aaron Rodgers seemed to bounce back relatively
quickly and is looking good in this game against Seattle.
This defense stops nobody. So if there's a good get
back on track game for an offense, it's against the
Seattle Seahawks. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on,
(02:25:54):
I got this game going on over anytime I had
a chance of watch Jared got pull his magic there
it is. I've about a drop past. Okay, it is
time to find out what's trending right now. We're not
the only ones watching everything that's going on. This man
is as well. Mr David gascon Man, Man, they gotta
pull the plug on this Detroy Pittsburgh game. Tell you what,
(02:26:16):
I don't really watch a big ten game. Wow, like
in Iowa games yesterday wouldn't be that bad. Put seven
points there. It is big play for the Vikings that
I think it's a hold on the Vikings. So they go,
what about this? Oh sixteen and one, oh sixteen and one.
(02:26:39):
That's that's not bad for a franchise that had an
owen sixteen gods got picked up? Oh my god, macup
Fitzpatrick almost came down with that. Why are they Wow?
That was Boyde. They were faced and there was a
hold up. Hold on to Troy just enough and he's
(02:27:02):
forget it. So yeah, so it's fourth down in twenty three.
Detroit has to punch the football back right, Yeah, they're
just they're just the game. Can the Steelers pull off
the victor? Goff's throw, by the way, was like end
over end, which is why it wasn't intercepted, it wasn't catchable.
It's not a bad thing in the standings if Pittsburgh's
(02:27:24):
ties today because Cleveland lost, Baltimore lost, and and since
today is not playing this weekend, So I mean, that's
hideous of a game as this is. If the Steelers win. Look,
and I'm not taking any chances with Mason Rudolph with
a minute thirty seven ago and there's another flag, they're
just dropping flags all over that lame sucks. I think
(02:27:45):
they just they just penalized both teams for a bad game.
I've never seen this before. They just dropped the flag
and they said, we want to go home, Yeah, we
want to go on. Stop it. I think I'd rather
watch like a preseason hold again the Steelers, so they're
gonna start deeping their own. I would not take a
chance right now with Mason, Actually I would. I would
(02:28:07):
say taking knee and just walk. I mean Steelers, like
you said, how tie does not really hurt them at all?
Um Panthers hurting the Cardinals though fourteen nothing. We mentioned
earlier today that Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins are not
playing today. Arizona's eight and one this year, and they
also hold the tiebreaker over the Rams, who play later
on Um, I'm gonna play money on football. In fact,
(02:28:29):
Chiefs and Raiders tonight is Sunday Night football. Bills want
big over New York the Jets, that is seventeen. Patriots
throttled the Browns seven Matt Jones at three touchdown passes
Colts when they beat the Jags by six. Titans over
the Saints by two. Packers just missed a field goals,
So it's Green Bay and Seattle scoreless right now in
(02:28:50):
the first quarter. Vikings and Chargers going at it from
Los Angeles as well. Minnesota has the football admitfield no
scores just yet. Eagles get three on the opening dry
they leading Denver three's nothing nineties seconds to play in overtime. Yeah, alright,
thank you, Yeah, alright sixteen all we did get a
(02:29:12):
completed pass for Pittsburgh time out called field goal earlier,
so he's certainly capable. I've done that. I and I
don't mean this from like, I'm not trying to be
sadistic because I don't want to see a grown man
cry again. Yeah, but I almost want to see Pittsburgh
(02:29:33):
pull off the overtime victory just so I can see,
just want to see what Dan Campbell does at the podium.
The guy openly wept in front of the media after
one of their near losses in overtime. I felt terrible,
but it was a very entertaining press conference. He literally
called the game a river of trash. It was an
(02:29:55):
incredible it was an incredible quote. Eagles on the road
against the Broncos. Opening drive for the Eagles results in
a field goal, so three nothing in Philadelphia early in
the first quarter. There alright ninety seconds to go in
the overtime. Pittsburgh trying to get into field position and
dropping passes is not going to help. The conditions are awful,
(02:30:17):
they really are. It's been pouring all game, it's cold,
it's raw, and that asks about his I mean you
have gloves on, right, yea, yeah, I mean, how do
you drop a pass with those gloves on. I'm just
trying to figure that out when you're paid to catch
the ball. Meanwhile, we have a turnover. The Panthers have
(02:30:38):
just intercepted Colt McCoy, so already leading fourteen to nothing. Uh,
they have the ball in Arizona territory. Uh wow, that
was my pick of the day, Arizona minus tent Although
there was a lot of late money on Carolina. Whoever
was getting in on in Carolina late when they find
out Kyler Murray is not playing loving life right now?
(02:30:59):
All right? One twenty to go in the overtime, sixteen
all third down for the Steelers. Now, if they don't
get it on third down, do you go for on
fourth down? I mean you're deep in your own territory
and that gives the Detroit Lions an opportunity to win it.
I don't think so. I think you punted it away.
The Lions just took their final time out, by the
(02:31:20):
way to stop the clock with one twenty to go
in the overtime. Four is I don't says I'm enjoying golf.
He's so anxious to get back on the field. Yeah,
he's like, let just give me one last ride. Uh.
Green Bay did not score on their opening drive. Now
the Seahawks have the ball. Russell Wilson is back. He
(02:31:41):
had never missed a game in his career, and then
he hurt his hand. Missed three starts for Seattle. Uh,
they come into this game staggering in at three and
five with Russell Wilson. Can they turn this thing around
and get back on track. I mean they got a
lot of ground to make up. Yeah. If anybody again,
and this goes for any year that you're watching the Seahawks,
if anybody can change the fortunes of their team, it's
(02:32:03):
Russell Wilson, Oh Friar muthe over the middle against this
to chart lines defense one oh nine ago. Clock is
running and first down for the Steelers still at their
own thirty five yard lines, so they got a long
way to go to get into field goal position. That
pass is not going to get it done. That will
stop the clock fifty eight seconds to go. Meanwhile, the
(02:32:26):
Vikings are into Chargers territory right now. We're talking earlier
about this Chargers team, and the fact is they're a
very different team from where they were a year ago.
They have four fourth quarter comebacks. The problem is they
have the thirty second ranked run defense in the league.
And maybe even more telling is their third down defense
(02:32:49):
is in the league, so teams have been able to
convert on third downs at a pretty high rate against
that Charger defense. Is why they're not better than five
and three pass over the middle by the Steelers forty
three yard line. Clock is running inside. Just caught that
pass over the middle and tried to hurdle a defender,
(02:33:09):
but he jumped way too soon, got his legs under,
did not get a first down. Its head. Thirty seven
o'clock is running. They gotta get a first down. Who
throws the ball? They're gonna get the first down and
more across the fifth yard line. Nagy Harris on the
outlet pass. The clock stops. This burg has time outs
(02:33:31):
and they just used one. That was their final time out. Alright,
so twenty nine seconds to go, no timeouts for either
team and they're at the forty nine yard line of
the line and so they still have at least yards.
That was a great throw by Mason Rudolph. They were
facing a house blitz there and uh and there was
(02:33:53):
there was nobody home to block that last defender off
the edge. Nagy Harris was the hot route on the
play and he hit him as he was being hit
by a defender. A great job by Mason Rudolph. I
feel like this game started last Sunday. I mean, this
game is endless and he was just going on and
on and on. You rarely get games to go down
(02:34:13):
to the final seconds of overtime. But that's exactly what's
happening here. Boswell is getting set on the sidelines. Let's
see how long this by by the way, just changed
his cleats. I think that's what the right now, he's
looking at a too long of a field goal. That's
not gonna help alright incomplete twenty four seconds left. Again,
(02:34:34):
Pittsburgh has got to be careful. If they get a
pass over the middle, clock will run down. Will it
be enough time? Where's the cutoff time wise as far
as a pass in play? Nineteen seconds if it passes
in play. So if you're if you have a situation
where the balls out of bounds at the start of
(02:34:56):
the play, you need eighteen seconds really to run your
field goal operational. They might have one more chance right
now to make a play pass over the middle to
get some yards. Are doing it right now? Uh? And
they got down to gonna get out of bounds. He
got out of bounds, got out of bounds. Fifteen seconds
to go in the overtime. Boswell warming up on the sidelines. Boy,
(02:35:23):
if you're the Lions right now, I I if they
were to lose on a fifty yard field goal again, Um,
that might be it for Dan Campbell. He might he
may not recover from that. I mean, look, he signed
a six year contract. He'd get paid. That doesn't mean
he'll be the coach or I'm just saying. I mean,
you're gonna pay him five years to sit at home.
(02:35:44):
Thirty nine yard line again, no time outs, fifteen seconds
to go, We're looking at a fifty six yard field
goal right now. Rudolf throws one out in the balls,
fumble and recovered by the Lions. Well, believ's chaos, right
all right? Now, hold on a second, hold on, hold on,
hold on here, all right, So it's definitely a fumble
(02:36:06):
and recovered by the Lions. Eight seconds left. A hail mary?
What are we looking at right now? What are we
looking at? Bringing golf? Golf? Uh past complete? No question?
Hit ball state in bounds, recovered by the Lions. That
was a reception. That was a force fumble. That was
(02:36:30):
a fumble recovery by the Lions defense seconds ago, and
Pittsburgh's chance of winning this game is over. Now. The
question is you got a hail mary attempt for the
Detroit Lions twice on this drive, tackle on the ball
(02:36:51):
and uh and he ends up And because the field
is so wet, that ball just died. Normally it would
just fly out of bounds it in and they just
by the way late in the season, I'm sure. Well,
it's actually not late enough where high school seasons are
ending yet. But I remember playing in Pittsburgh that have
all the high school championship games out there, and if
(02:37:12):
it rains, dude, it turns into a slop fest. They
paint that field green, by the way. Even if Pitts
were gonna recover that ball, I don't know what they would.
The clock was running, all right, here we go golf
eight seconds, six seconds, throws over the middle. It's cop
but remember there's no time out. We got Calberts against it.
Now the bend is on the field. That's it. We
(02:37:35):
got zeros on the clock. It is a final, ladies
and gentlemen, it's only appropriate. Then this game ends and
a sixteen sixteen tie. The Lions still winless, but now
they have a tie on their ledger. Wow do you
celebrate if you're the Lions and now you're oh eight
(02:37:57):
and one. It's official. The lines cannot go all in
seven team, They can't break their own record of o
and six team. Meanwhile, the Vikings just got a field
goal against the Chargers. We got so many things going on,
We got more games to talk about. Keep it her
on Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. It's over. It's all over.
(02:38:19):
This is Fox Red Zone Radio, and we've got the
place that you may have missed. Mason Rudolph leans and
he's got it, throws the out pattern to Friar moves,
he loses the football, spree on the crowd. It is
the Lions football. The Lions picked it up again the
second course buffle and over time and they come out
(02:38:40):
of there with it. The Lins have got the football
with eight seconds left. Recovered Fox right, Flowers, Now back
live to the studios of Fox Sports Radio. This is
Fox Red Zone Radio. All right. So that was w
x y T FM N one of the Ticket Lions
(02:39:01):
radio network, And thanks to that fumble, the Lions hang
on for a tie, a tie, sixteen all tie against
the Pittsburgh Steelers. Well it's one for the history books
because the Lions were well on their way to being
the first and NFL record setting seven team loss team
(02:39:22):
in a single season. So there goes that they can
only tie their worst season with sixteen losses. Gotta thank
the Crewe today. Iowa Sam, who has been fending off
a guest all day long, now still thinking in terms
of the Hawkeyes ending up in the Big Ten championship game.
(02:39:42):
Slim chance, but nonetheless, you know what I mean, their
destiny isn't in their own hands. A little help from
Minnesota maybe down the road against Wisconsin. We talked about
David Gascon, of course, who is relentless in his attack
on Iowa. Sam says he'll never love it, ever, ever,
for ever, time Iowa football is relevant nineteen sixty Okay,
(02:40:04):
how would you like to see Iowa match up against
Santego actually beat Santeo State in a holiday But in
the eighties, cares about these bowl games anymore? Yeah, there
he goes, and of course Ryan, um wow, I don't know. Ryan.
It's it's been a day of decision making for our
executive producer. Proud loves Ryan. It's like you got to
(02:40:27):
make an executive decision whether or not to stay with
that overtime game or do a rehash of Dallas's forty
point win over Atlanta. I think Ryan made the right decision.
Ryan's got plenty of decisions in front of him. He's
gonna get engaged soon, Aid on the air, Ryan, have
you been ringing congratulations? By the way, I warned you Ryan. Um,
(02:40:51):
we had a producer back in the day. We all
know who it was who announced his engagement on our show,
IM and then off the engagement two days before the wedding. Yeah,
he called it off. I don't know. It was an
old timer Steve. His initials are SB. Yeah you remember that. Yeah,
(02:41:17):
city right here? Okay, Um, By the way, I got you.
You want to hear some statistical anomalies. Cam Newton and
his debut for the Carolina Panthers. By the way, they're
leading Arizona seventeen nothing in two seconds to go in
the first quarter. Cam Newton one carry for two yards
and a touchdown. Passing, he's two for three, zero yards
(02:41:40):
and a touchdown. So he's two for three passing for
zero yards and a touchdown. And he has one carry
for two yards and a touchdown. Well that'll do it. Uh,
That's that's pretty maze. You don't usually see two for
three zero with a touchdown. Well, he is deaf. We
were going to be their goal line go to throughout
(02:42:03):
this pretty much every time he touches it, they're going
to score. Well yeah, yeah, I think it's actually really
intelligent way that they got him incorporated into this ball game,
putting him in on those short yardist packages because he
gives you so much versatility there. Obviously, So did did
he get the ring back after he broke off the engagement? No?
(02:42:26):
I don't even want to tell you what happened after that.
Let me ask you. Let me ask you this. If
you if you and and it had gotten ready for
your wedding and you just saw you decide to call
it off two days before the way two days would
you be alive? I don't know. I would have fled
the country. Um. Here's the other thing about our wedding
(02:42:47):
was there was no way, no way I was walking
away from that event. Yeah. Yeah, let's say he had
gone through the rehearsal dinner, anything else. I mean, that
wedding wasn't cheap. We were pot committed, so at very
least I was partying. If I had cold feet, it
would have been how concerns would have been raised after
the wedding? Now, how would you have faced her sizeable family.
(02:43:09):
How would they have reacted to you poorly? Yeah? Um so?
I right. I'll put it this way. When you're ready
to make that big engagement announcement, you better be a
hundred percent. So have you gone ring shopping? Is the question? Ryan? No? Okay,
Well he's getting close. He sounded like he spoke with
(02:43:31):
some certainty there to make sure everyone's clear in case
anyone thinks I'm serious. Hopefully Amazon updates Sierra Panthers again
lading the Cardinals seventeen nothing second quarter, just beginning, Vikings
and Chargers three three, no offense in this game to
(02:43:53):
go in the first half, Eagles early three nothing laid
against the Broncos and no score. Russell Wilson and Aaron
Rodgers Rich what about tonight Chiefs too and alf point
favorites on the road against the Raiders, who were talking
about this game on Friday that it's like both these
teams have pretty good records. It just doesn't seem that way.
(02:44:13):
You're both going sideways right now, the Chiefs and Raiders.
What's gonna happen in Vegas? I'm sure because I'm gonna
go this way on this on this game. It's gonna
go the opposite direction. I'm I'm tired of waiting for
the Chiefs to finally on cork it. Yeah, so I
like the Raiders tonight, I do. I think that the
Raiders are a scrappy football team. Every situation where you
(02:44:34):
think like, oh, you know, this is a game the
Raiders should lose, they end up getting the win. They
find a way to eke out victories, and nothing has
really forced them to stumble so far, and they've been
through a lot. I like the Raiders. How about the
money nine battle rams on the road against the forty
nine as Odell Beckham jin Apparently it's gonna return a
few punts, probably get a little time at wide receiver
(02:44:55):
in the absence of Robert Woods. What do you think
is gonna happen there? Yeah? I mean, I think it's
gonna be the forty niners obviously in a runaway victory.
They're owen four at home this year? Can you imagine
the forty oh and four at home this year? Talk
