Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Oh, let's go, let's go,
stinking genius, let's go. Yeah, let's go, let's go. Let's go.
We're good. We already did. What are you talking about?
We already have what's wrong already? You seem down? Are
you get shut up? Man? Shut up? I haven't They
(00:24):
can be sick a ready shut up? You know one
Sunday a year, I get crabby when my Dolphins get eliminated.
The greatest one Sunday. What's I mean on the planet
until it wasn't at the ticket? I mean, you know
what bothers me. You you know that I take Miami
(00:46):
glosses harder than anything because you guys, last year you
were Tampa Bay fans. This year you'll pick it. You'll
hop on Dallas fan wagon or something. You know, I'm
more of a fan than you are. I The funny
thing Danny is he may be the most bandwagon person
(01:07):
we know. Oh shut up. So if a team wins,
you and Dan Patrick, if a team wins, you start
calling them my team. We hear Bobo yell at you
whenever you say my Cowboys. Do you understand that this
was going to be like not only were we gonna
get it in the playoffs, we were gonna start making around.
We were a boutched up again since that in the
(01:27):
first round certainly would have taken care of them. Well,
I guess we won't know, will we We have a
zero percent chance of getting in now. I think my
personal favorite part of this incredible run for the Dolphins
was when you told us. You told us that they
were gonna be favorites in the last three games and
that the Titans were the least of your concerns. I
(01:49):
was off by three points, big deal. Three You know
what's crazy is my See my sports year is done now,
two years in. I gotta wait till September now to
get excited about. Yeah, I have March madness. But that's
really good. That's all I have left. That's all I
It's baseball gonna start. Yeah, I'll watch the NBA, but
(02:10):
the Knicks have nothing to do with that. And I'll
watch hockey. But what am I? What am I gonna?
I gotta wait till I I gotta wait till September. Now,
it took you like two weeks to give up on
the Knicks. Already. I thought the Knicks were unstoppable. Last
I checked in with you, and now they're sitting you're
a Waker fan. I wouldn't talk, but I'm just saying
I know I have to wait nine months of nothing
(02:32):
of nothingness. Mats look pretty good. What's wrong with your mats?
Nine months and you're gonna have to wait another nine
months after that? Uh score update, Green Bay Packers hit
paid herd A. J. Dillon cashes in and the Packer
on their way to the number one seed in the NFC.
(02:52):
They're up thirty seven to ten, which means, as we
welcome you in to Artie and Plank on a Fox
Football Sunday, the row to the Super Bowl in the NFC,
we'll go through Green Bay, Wisconsin. How about that, Aren'tie?
I think that, By the way, I think Fox should
give you the day off when your team loses and
(03:12):
you like a bad loss, I would never get to work.
What are you talking about? I need I need this job, Arenie.
I can't take every day off one of my team lose.
Just like when you have like one or two bad losses,
you get like a mental health taker your team to
overcome that. You know, you don't know problem with that?
I bring up the road to the Super Bowl going through.
You're really gonna be grumpy tonight. I forgot. Do you understand?
(03:36):
Do you understand what's going on here? My team got
eliminated enough to win seven weeks in a row and
then a bye week. That's like eight with two months
of me dreaming that we were going to the playoffs
two months and now it's nothing. You know, some would
say that's your own fault. Um, we we're eight and eight.
We lose to what Jacksonville in Atlanta. I mean, we
(04:00):
should be like a ten and six team right now,
eleven and five, twelve and four three or something like that.
Why not just go for it all? Why not? I
hate you guys, I know, no, no, But here's the
thing is, I truly have empathy for you because my
team's or my team singular usually stinks. This is only
(04:24):
the third time, I think, uh, in like the last
decade where the Raiders, well actually it's only the second
time in the last decade when the Raiders going to
the final week of the season with a chance to
make the playoffs. So yeah, I'm trying to remember this right.
What you do? By the way, I don't want to
be the bear of bad news. Right, you have a
(04:44):
zero percent chance of winning next week? Makes me feel
a lot better about just you're bad a second, Arnie,
what was that? That was New Year's Eve that we
were all on the air together. Arnie called them my
Raiders and he picked them to beat the cold. Well,
you have you have zero of and that's what happened.
But you have a zero percent chance of winning next
week against the show long enough to know that the
(05:09):
anger from what happened with the Dolphins will now carry
over to I don't want anyone else to have joy.
Right in his mind, he wants everyone to be as
miserable as a sports fan as he is at It's
it's it's suffer like me and the rest of the
Dolphins fans here. Here's the one thing, and Dolphin fans
(05:29):
are nice people. Raider fans. We don't like you guys.
Any nobody likes you guys. Fine, I don't care. I
don't need to be liked. I just want to win.
Bad guys win all the time. That's the that's that's
the bottom line here. Bad guys always finished first. Um,
we're not going to find out apparently what the Flex
(05:50):
games will be next week until tomorrow. I hope I'm wrong,
but it's really now that we and we're gonna lay
out the whole off picture. Matt Verdam is coming up
in our next segment at the bottom of this hour
after the Sager's update, and good to have Steve back.
After the Sager's update. We're gonna go all in on
what the playoff picture looks like. And by the way,
(06:12):
Kevin Mond has finally finally Minnesota said, Dude, this Shaan
Mannion guy is terrible. Let's see what we got in
our third round pick. It only took him until there's
eight thirty left in a game. Mike Zimmer, Holy smokes, No, no, no,
that's that's Kellen Mond, former Texas A to Maggie. So
we'll get into all of it. But here's here's what
we do know now is there's going there's a lot
(06:35):
of teams that still have playoff hopes alive right heading
into the last week. There's not just now with the
Bengals clinching, that kind of takes some of the matchups
in Week eighteen and takes it away from him. Right
with the Bengals beating the Chiefs, now that eliminates the Browns.
So that Bengals Browns game. Uh, is I mean it's
not irrelevant. I mean the Bengals still needed for seeding.
(06:58):
That looks more like his Saturday game to me. Obviously,
sorry Arnie, but Patriots and Dolphins is irrelevant to the
playoff picture outside of Patriots. Yeah, I was gonna say
that the Patriots have seating involved or no cow Yeah,
outside of seating for the Patriots. Cowboys Eagles, um both
are in now so and the Cowboys have been in.
The Eagles with this lost by Minnesota, they're in, so
(07:20):
it probably doesn't have the same umph as it once did.
Colts Jaguars has a ton on the line, but I
don't I don't think reflecting the Jaguars anywhere, Arnie. I
don't know about a two and fourteen team that gave
up fifty points Steelers Ravens and there may still be
a little bit on the line for that game. Uh.
And obviously forty Niners Rams has major playoff implications for
(07:43):
both teams. But then there's a Charger's Raiders matchup, which
is a win and you're in, and a lose and
you're out. Even even though even though the Raiders still
have a path to make the playoffs even if they lose,
but it would involve Jacksonville beating Indianapolis, which again jackson
Mills not beating anyone. So we're not going to know
(08:05):
because according to five those six sports. And I'm not
if you haven't had an opportunity, uh to check. I'm
a TV dork anyway, but five oh six sports is um?
Is it five or six or five sixty? Hold on,
I'm absolutely botching it right now. It's um, it's five
sixty sports. Whatever. They go, and they give you all
of the TV maps, right they roll through it, and
(08:25):
they'll always let you know who's playing where and when.
And they speculated moments ago that they think they'll wait NBC,
ESPN a more specifically the NFL, that they'll wait until
after um, five or six sports. I was right that
they'll wait until after maybe part of the Monday night
(08:46):
football game, so ESPN will be able to announce which
two games they're gonna have next Saturday. I don't know
if that makes any sense, because that suddenly turns into Wow,
you're gonna have like a five day turn around for
your game for what's supposed to be a major game
with two games on Saturday and one on Sunday night.
I don't know any if they let the coaches know
(09:06):
and ask them to embargo it, but we're probably not
going to find out the primetime Sunday game during this
show tonight, Chris. Do they have the pick of every
game they want to or is there something withdrawn from them? Yeah? No, No,
they can have any game they want. And as far
as far as I understand it, you know, trust me,
I'm sure NBC looks at that and thinks Cowboys Eagle
(09:29):
still would be a nice little money maker here. But
but I don't mn I say money maker, I mean ratings.
But again, there's not really on the line. And the
whole point of this pause in announcing the schedule over
the last what does it seem like any like decade
maybe longer that we've done this is so that Sunday
night game has a playoff field to it. Right, it's
(09:49):
the biggest game of the weekend. But we'll see, we'll watching,
wait and see what the week eighteen schedule looks like. Again,
you gotta check out at five or six Sports. They've
been all over it today. There's really no rules about it.
I think they might try to give ESPN a couple
of really good matchups because they never end up getting
good matchups in the wild card. But I would have
(10:09):
to assume next Sunday night is gonna be Raiders Chargers
for the playoffs? Right, Oh, I thought it was gonna
be a Saturday game. I thought that one was gonna
go ahead and be one of the games they were
gonna pick. I wouldn't complain about that. That's a game now.
I would be my first choice Charges Raiders Saturday night
in Vegas. Who how great? Or at afternoon whatever it is?
How great would that be? Well? I sure as held
(10:29):
on want it on Sunday during our show. Um, I
would be the first one to call the boss man,
Scotty Shapiro and say, hey, can either a Danny g
and I cover this game live from Allegiance Stadium or
be I don't know, play White Elephant, because the last
thing I want is you doing play by play of
your feed, which will be a good minute ahead of
mine next Sunday night for the Raiders in the Charge.
(10:50):
You always figure if the Raiders are gonna lose that
we don't know if you're gonna show them to work anyway,
so which again has never really been an issue, but
it's brilliant how you've been able to manage that. So
there is the TV schedule, or at least what we
think for next week now, Arnie, before Matt joined us,
and with the Packers dominating Sunday Night Football, they're up
thirty seven to ten with about seven minutes to go
(11:10):
in the game. Let's sit on the big story today again.
I thought p f T commentar said it best. Nothing
says tribute to Madden like rage quitting in the middle
of a football game, like of us have done at
some point playing Madden Football. But what the hell was
Antonio Brown thinking? What? What was that today? Um? You know,
(11:31):
and by the way, he had three catches and what
five targets before and I guess he was told to
go back into the game. He didn't go back into
the gate and want to so Arian said get out
of here, and that's exactly what he did. You know.
I gotta tell you I have more sympathy Chris when
you see those videos of the people that what you know,
those women they call Karen jelling at each other because
(11:53):
somebody's not wearing a mask in a grocery store or
in an airplane, because you know, everybody's gonna through a
tough time. It's mental health. Maybe just some people lose it.
I can understand that. Um what's he losing it about?
You know, you're playing a game of football. I don't know.
I don't know if this is a mental health thing
or what. But I I can't see another team ever
take I can't see this guy playing another down in
(12:15):
the NFL. Why would a team want to go ahead
and take a chance on him? And was it was
a mental health problem and he's gonna get help about it?
I I mean, enough is enough. The guy's made so
many mistakes it's countless. To be honest with you, I
mean I actually feel bad for the guy. At first,
I'm like, you know what, you're a jerk at out
of your goodbye. Nobody needs you. Then you calm down,
(12:36):
you think about it for a second, and you're like,
you know what, you you just ruin your career. You
just that's the last thing issue we're gonna think of.
Antonio Brown is him and taking off his shirt and
and saying and saying goodbye and walking do the tunnel?
So um, so be it but I guess I'm not
as outrage as everybody else. I I just actually feel
bad for the guy. To be honest with you, I
(12:57):
will say this, it's still amazing to me that he
was in Pittsburgh for nine years, that Mike Tomlin tolerated
him for nine seasons. It's absolutely incredible. But here we are, Um,
I don't want to get to in depth because I
don't really know what do we know? Antonio Brown is
(13:19):
in the backseat of what I think is is a
car service and they're going live on Instagram. It's just
he's standing outside of the stadium waiting to get picked up.
It's incredible. It's incredible what was taking place. Um, But
here we are, and what he's part of? The big resignation?
Isn't that what they call it now? Or what resignation?
(13:40):
Like that? It's absolutely one of the most um exciting
and intense weeks of the National Football League, and here's
Antonio Brown trying to and and purposefully ruining for for
a lot of people. But hey, the Buccaneers came back
and beat the Jets, So there's there's there's that, all right, Um, Laurie,
(14:00):
let's got our first time out in here. He's already
span your I'm Chris Blanke. Best way to get in
touch with the show is Twitter at Stinking Genius one.

the Green Bay Packers Final moments close. They are taking
(15:06):
away here on Sunday Night Football. They're dominating the Vikings
thirty seven to ten and Aaron Rodgers my eyeballs watching
this game. Sorry, why is that? Because it's so ugly.
It's it's such ugly football from the Vikings. So as
we focus on this game, we welcome in our buddy
Matt verder Ram fansided he's been hanging with this most
(15:28):
Sunday nights and I'm curious. Could this be the beginning
of the end of Mike Zimmer in Minnesota? What do
you think, Matt? I think it's more like the end
of the end of Mike Zimmer in Minnesota. I mean,
if you bring him back, how do you justify. Look,
I Zimmer is a coach who deserves another opportunity. I
(15:49):
think he's done some really good things in Minnesota, but
they've never really got in that situation right right, Like
the quarterback has always been like okay, but underwhelming in
big moments. The offensive line has never been good. Um
and Zimmer, they're very conservative. This is way, dude, and
that's tonight. Didn't a choice me. You know you're not
gonna want to Shawan Mannion airing it out, but yeah,
(16:09):
I would. I would expect it. Next week is the
last game from Mike Zimmer. Alright, alright, I see what
you guys are doing. You're ignoring the elephant in the room, Matt.
In thirty minutes of action, Kansas City puts up three
points in the second half, they blew a two touchdown lead,
They lose the game, they lose the number one seed,
they lose the bye week. No super Bowl for you all.
(16:30):
In thirty minutes, Gavil Price will go to the super Bowl.
But yeah, now, just the crap day for Kansas City.
It was bizarre. The only three possessions in the second half,
and they moved the ball immediately on all three of them.
But Day short circuited one with the drop, the short
circuited one of the penalty um, they kicked the field
(16:52):
goal one another, and then well that was a weird game.
But I think really the story of the game was
Burrow was unbelievable. Again. He was arrest all afternoon. The
chief hit him crime and time again, sacked him a
bunch of times. They couldn't stop him. Jamaar Chase is unbelievable.
Anybody who doesn't go fat guys, Rookie's a year, I
still understand it. Like anybody voting for Matt Jones over Jamaar.
(17:16):
Chase is out of the mind. He's in special all year.
It was amazing today. Look, I still think if if
it made me about my mortgage, I think the Chiefs
will get this her boy. Yeah, they're the best team.
But that was an incredible performance by Burrow and Chase,
and it was a bad performance by the chief in
the game where the officiating is going to be a
topic of conversation tomorrow. It will take me through that, Matt.
(17:38):
I haven't had a chance to read too in depth.
Was that a foul? Was that a penalty on fourth down?
In your opinion, it was just a weird game being
officiated like they it was the last second crew of
the NFL at the substitute guys in at the very end.
He did it late last night and on that fourth
down play at the goal line the game tied. Um.
(17:59):
There was initially off setting penalties, which I think was correct,
and then the second time they called the hands to
the face on Sir Various Ward where it's very obvious
like Ward never touched the guy. Now, I don't know
if they screwed up and they meant to call it.
Jerry sneed Snead his hand brushed on Boyd's helmet. But
I think it would be fair to say it was
(18:19):
a pretty ticky tax thing. I don't know that you
normally get a call like that in a spot like that,
But then there are there are other calls in the game. Look,
the bottom line is, did she have some calls that
were bizarre against him? Yes. The Cheese also brought a
cover zero blitz on third and twenty seven and gave
up a thirty yard pass which single coveragehn Chase on
the last drive of the game. So you want to
(18:41):
look at where the game ended, it's when your third
and twenty seven and you put one corner on Chase
when he got two yards. Matt, my Dolphins get knocked
up by Tennessee. They put up thirty four on my Dolphins. Uh,
but yet they don't seem like that's strong of the
number one seed. Are my crazier one. We'll see that
for you, sir. You will not be having a Super
(19:02):
Bowl station because they are. They are f um The
Titans are just I think it's a weird teams evaluate
because when Derrick Henry comes back, assuming he comes back
in the playoffs, that's a whole another animal of an
offense um, but they're bizarre. I mean the Titans, I
think if their best can beat anybody in the a
(19:24):
f C. I don't know that I think they could
beat the Packers, but they could. They could beat an
They've already covered Kansas City, they beat Buffalo, Um, they
swept in the Annapolis, so you know, there's not exactly
a paper Tiger. But I do understand that there is
something to the idea of like do you trust them
in the playoffs to beat aland to beat my homes?
(19:46):
If they if they were to see a Herbert or Borrow, like,
can they beat the I think they're a viable super
Bowl team. But as a one seed, yeah, you're normally
gonna one. You're gonna see like Green Bay. That team
is just phenomenal. I don't know that you look at
Tennessee and think that they definitely see vulnerable for a
number one two ringing out with Matt verd Am, a
(20:08):
fan is cited Matt obviously, Uh, this is always kind
of a fun time because we try to figure out,
all right, who's gonna get flex to Sunday, who's our
Saturday games? But for as crazy as this season has been.
Really we're just kind of in a seating conversation. Next week, obviously,
the Raiders and the Chargers are in a win and
they're in, as are the Colds. If the Colts happened
(20:30):
to lose at Jacksonville, which I don't think will happen,
then things can get a little bit weird. But if
you're at NBC, are you flexing that Chargers Raiders came
to next Sunday night? Are you thinking maybe Cowboys, Eagles
or Rams Niners? But the Chargers in the Raiders camp
because that game wins is in Rams Sinners. I get
the appeal on it, but ye know, the hard part
(20:50):
is if the if the chaince flews earlier in the day,
then the Niners are in and they're just gonna shot everybody.
So then you have the snooze fest of the game
that you don't care about. Same is the Cardinals got upset.
You know, maybe the Rams don't care because you already
won the division. The only game in the NBC knows
is gonna be a really compelling game no matter what
is the Raiders and the Chargers. And I gotta say
(21:12):
that game to me first one the Raiders stam basis,
shoot deftly. You know those two teams. Who knows what's
gonna happen in that game? Anything is possible. I could
see the Chargers winning by thirty points. I could also
see the Chargers going out there and getting forty two
to seven games, like they're just so bizarre every week.
(21:35):
I think that game is incredibly compelling, you know, Matt,
We usually do a second that says, after week seventeen,
I know this, Um, and I think the first time
I know this, after week seventeen, I know this. Uh,
Tampa Bay is now winning the super Bowl this year.
It's it's done. It's it's over for Tom Brady. It's
been a great run. Um, no super Bowl for you,
(21:56):
my friend. Seems seems fair. You know, it's weird. I
I didn't feel like that for a month. I really thought,
is you go wrong? Like, Okay, they're gonna get healthy
the right time and they'll they'll make the run. You know,
everything that went on Antonio Brown that didn't want of
the weirdest thing I've ever seen, festil for it. And
(22:16):
then you know that's of course. A couple of weeks later,
a couple weeks before that, godwin. Now for the year,
and I won't said, you'll get their offense, and it's like, okay,
well Mike Evans is great, but if you double him
then it's Gronk and for net and that that's pretty
much it. Like they they barely beat the Jet today. Uh.
(22:37):
It's just it's hard to see it happening. The only
thing I'll say for them is they look at the
NFC and all right, the Packers are certa might be
the team, and said, well, that's what they gotta beat.
The Rams look awful at times. Stafford's throwing a million
picks the last two weeks. So lucky they want today
Dallas some weeks looks great, other weeks they look like
(22:59):
they're they're playing like coma football. It's just resolve. So
I agree, though I think the Bucks, yeah, I wouldn't.
I would not pick them to get back to s
all right, hey, Matt, one more quick one before we
let you get out of here. The Titans will end
up clinching likely that one seed next week. Uh. And
again we were talking about the vulnerability of them. How
(23:21):
much of of a fear factor should there be now
with the idea that they get Derrick Henry back I'm
still on team Kansas City is going to the super Bowl.
But they continue to play defense like this and get
Derrick Henry back with a J. Brown healthy. That's a
scary team, isn't it? It is? It is. I don't
think people should sleep on which is why I mentioned
all the earlier including the Rams denies. The Titans are
(23:45):
very good David, very good front seven defensively, and they've got,
if they're healthy through, very good receivers and and the
best running back and football on Johnson's taller there there.
I think that bye week for them, as well as
they get it, is huge because they have not been
healthy all year long. Now you get that by we
get the rest. I think the things everybody wonders, and
(24:07):
I think it's a fair thing to wonder. When you
get to the playoffs, you gotta have that quarterback. They
can just drive you through tough spots in the playoff game,
and contenta help do that. If they're facing down Kansas City,
if they're facing down Buffalo Um, he might he might
be able to do it. But I think look the
Titans to just dismiss them. I still genuinely think the
(24:28):
Chiefs is the best team the ASC but by losing today,
their road gets harder. And I'll tell you right now,
if the Chiefs play the Chargers in the wild card round,
the Chiefs could absolutely lose that football game. That is
not a good match. Good stuff. Hey, you're the man, Matt.
We always appreciate your time. Check out his work tomorrow
morning at fan side of dot com and we'll talk
(24:49):
to you next week. Sound good, take care of You's awesome,
Matt verder Ram fan is sided with his thoughts on
the concerns if it's Kansas City and the charge which
it definitely could be in the first round of the playoffs.
Speaking of the speaking of the Chargers, he was front
and center today for that domination for the Chargers over
the Broncos. Steve de Sager joins us to get us
(25:10):
caught up on everything in the world of sports. What's up, Steve? Hello,
And despite the Dolphin result, I did not give Arnie
the night off and the NFL has tweeted out that
the Eagles are officially heading to the playoffs now. The
Vikings have just been eliminated with the loss of Green
Bay tonight, as quarterback Kirk Cousins was out testing positive
Green Bay wins thirty seven to ten, and the Packers
(25:30):
went undefeated at home this year eight and oh and yes,
the road to the Super Bowl goes through that frozen tundra.
The temperature about ten degrees for this game. Packers go
to thirteen and three. Tonight's win clinches the number one
seed in the NFC. So the Packers next meaningful game
is in about three weeks. They're gonna have what the
Lions next week to finish up. I assume they'll be
(25:52):
sitting starters. Then they'll have a bye week wow with
thirteen and three still And by the way, this coach
mat la Fleur took over for a Packers team that
was under five hundred back to back seasons, and now
he's won thirteen games three years in a row. This
is a guy who, let me put it this way,
(26:14):
has done something that just hasn't been done. It's crazy.
Two in three straight seasons win thirteen plus games has
not happened. Now. Granted, in the Auto Graham days, they
weren't playing sixteen or even seventeen games, but this is very,
very impressive. And consider how the Packers years started. They
got blown away by the Saints thirty eight to three.
(26:37):
That was the neutral site game in Jacksonville because of
the hurricane. Great item from stat muse that Aaron Rodgers
in Week one no touchdowns, two interceptions, Aaron Rodgers since
then thirty five touchdowns, two interceptions. Yeah, I could be
the m v U. So as we looked to our
(26:59):
other team in the NFC, Yeah, Philly maybe in The
Saints are not yet out. Their home win puts them
at eight and eight. If the Saints can get a
win in the finale in Atlanta and the Niners lose,
could be Saints at the Rams for the first round
of the playoffs. New Orleans is not yet out. As
for that Saints when it was against the Carolina team
(27:20):
that's lost six in a row. Eighteen to ten was
the final. San Francisco one seven over Houston. The Niners
finished the season at the Rams next week. Keep in
mind San Francisco dominated the Rams in November. Arizona held
on for a victory at Dallas. Two Cards led seven
to start the fourth quarter. Seattle over Detroit Rashad Penny
(27:42):
a hundred seventy yards rushing two touchdowns. Chargers eliminated Denver
Raiders very much stayed alive twenty twenty the win on
the last second field goal at Indianapolis. Raiders have won
three in a row since losing five of six. And guys,
what we talked about on this show one week ago
has come to fruition. Chargers were coming off a wretched
(28:05):
loss at Houston Raiders. That seem we're salting the season
away with that one in five stretch recently. But we said,
wait a minute, there's a path to get to the
finale of Raiders hosting the Chargers, and that's where we are.
And and I agree with Matt about you don't know
which charge your team it's going to be, because as
as talented as they are, one of the best scoring teams,
(28:27):
you know, twenty seven points a game coming into today,
they allow twenty seven points a game. They're one of
the worst at stopping the run. They are the worst
at trying to get off the field on third down.
Charge your opponents on third down, regardless of the distance.
And yet who has the most Pro Bowl starters this
year Chargers and Colts with five eats, more than Dallas,
(28:48):
more than the Rams, more than the Chiefs. And you've
got the reigning rookie of the year. Who's still great
at quarterback? Justin Herbert set a record fewest games to
get to eight hundred career completions. Patrick Mahomes did it
in thirty four games. This was Herbert's thirty one career game.
He's one of the youngest to get to that mark,
younger than Dan Marino was, younger than Kyler Murray was
(29:10):
to get to that mark, and Justin Herbert broke Philip
Rivers franchise record. He has thirty five touchdown passes in
one season. Did you not hear the first half of
this conversation? Tennessee clinched the a f C South, ripping
Miami thirty four three. The Dolphins are eliminated Cincinnati thirty
(29:33):
one over Kansas City, so the Bengals clinched the a
f C North title. Buffalo clinched a playoff berth fifteen
against Atlanta. New England fifty to ten winners against Jacksonville
Patriots clinch a playoff spot. However, the Bills do own
the division tiebreaker against New England. Keep in mind Rams
won their fifth in a row twenty nineteen at Baltimore,
(29:54):
which has lost five in a row. Ravens are eight
and eight and almost eliminated. Philadelphia winners a four straight
got a twenty to sixteen victory at Washington, Tampa Bay,
and Chicago. With wins, Cleveland is eliminated and they don't
play until Monday nights at Pittsburgh and in the NBA
at Boston. Fifty points for Jaln Brown in an overtime
(30:14):
win against Orlando one sixteen, one eleven. Back to you,
breaking news, Steve, Do we have some schedule notes, We
have some schedules and it is confirmed. Wait, wait, wait
a minute, next Sunday Night, Chargers Raiders. There you go,
Charges Raiters, next Sunday. That's right, Sunday Night Football Chargers writers. Hey,
(30:35):
boss man, Scott Shapiro, Can Danny and I shift to
an early show? I don't know if we can maybe
do a morning show. I don't know who does. Who
does Sunday mornings? Will they be willing to work with
Arnie next Sunday night? Because I can't see? Can't I
go to the earlier? I don't agree with the premise
because nobody's willing to work with Arnie. That's right? Okay,
Well how about this? Then we do full White Elephant
or whatever, it is whenever you change up gifts gifts exchange. Yeah, yeah,
(31:00):
that's right, let's do that. Whoever works the morning, I
can't do a show with you while the Raiders are
on the air. Now again, you're more than welcome to
come along, Arnie. I mean, the game was exactly what
I was gonna be over by halftime. No, no, I
don't want to be quarter. I beg you please, Scotch.
We do know the two Saturday games for the next weekend.
(31:22):
Of course it's Dallas against somebody on national teams, right,
so the Saturday, oh you want to break a sea,
but I'm sorry, I feel free. Grant ahead. Chiefs Broncos
week Gate teen on Saturday at three thirty Central God's
time zone, four thirty Eastern on ABC and ESPN. Cowboys
Eagles will be the late game eight fifteen Eastern on
ABC and ESPN. So literally, they put two games on
(31:45):
on the Saturday that kind of have zero playoff repercussions
outside of seating. So yeah, yeah, you're right, you're right.
So any surprise there, gentlemen, not too shocked by that,
but I'm I'm grateful that it's official of the Chargers
Raiders as it should be. It comes down to that
in Vegas, fans in Vegas for the finale after no
(32:09):
fans in Vegas at all at the new stadium a
year ago. Well, Chris, what what's the most important game
other than Raiders charges? Would you say Stealers ven? Well,
that might not have anything on the line. What if
Pittsburgh loses tomorrow? Essentially the whole goal now, correct me
if I'm wrong, Steve, you love this stuff as much
(32:30):
as I do. The whole goal of waiting to announce
the Sunday night game is they want basically a playoff
game for the final game of the regular season, and gosh,
I want to say we had like the NFC East
get decided last year in the final week of the season,
and remember Titans on a final Sunday night game. The
thing you remember Sam Bradford in the Rams on a
Sunday night game to make the playoffs. Six days notice, though,
(32:53):
is the flex rule for the final weekend of the season,
which is why for all the people saying, oh, they're
just gonna let ESPN announce it after to R night,
I'm thinking, whoa, whoa, somebody's playing Saturday. So six days
notice was followed all right, um, so we have the
playoff picture. When we come back, we'll dive into what
it looks like in both the NFC and the a
(33:13):
f C. And for as complicated as it seemed last week,
things have simplified just a bit. We'll go all in
next with Arnie and Plank on a Fox Football Sunday
final segment of our One with Arnie and Plank, brought
to you by Vegas Baby. In fact, we're heading to
Vegas next hour. Vegas a couple of weeks. Look, hey,
(33:35):
you're you're ride in line with who were speaking to? Then?
Las Vegas the greatest arena on Earth. Every game, match, race,
and competition it is always on. No one does sports
like Vegas and the excitement is endless. So make sure
to plan your trip today at visit Las Vegas dot
(33:57):
com and the Raiders and Chargers will play next Sun,
a night in Vegas with a shot to go to
the playoffs on the line. Now there is scenarios for
but I think at least for the Raiders. I don't
know the Chargers. Steve, but the Raiders can lose and
still make the playoffs. But that would take a Jacksonville
win over Indie, which ain't happening, and the Steelers to
(34:18):
lose one of their final two games. But Artie in
the a f C. It it doesn't get much more
cut and dry than that, right, I mean, you win
and you're in for the Raiders or the Chargers, right right.
Not a lot of drama actor was last week and
so much was decided um and that Miami Patriot game,
which was supposed to be such a big game pretty
much almost meaningless. Now I think it's Buffalo and the
(34:40):
Patriots gonna be stuck at the four five and I
think Patriots are gonna be stuck at five even with
you know, I guess of Buffalo loser, but I don't
think that's going to happen. So yeah, a lot of
the drama was taken out from after last week. By
the way, as far as the Chargers as they should
be out with a loss next Sunday Night, and the
reason is because of the bad con Prince record, which
means once again we go back to losing to the
(35:03):
last week. They're not don't start even bringing that up.
I'm just I'm saying if they lose Sunday Night, that
should be that there's no like, oh boy, I hope
somebody else. No, no, they if they lose next Sunday night,
they would finish six and six in conference. They're not
anybody guaranteed, Artie guaranteed in the NFC. If the Rams win,
they clinch the NFC West next week. So the Rams
(35:24):
are in a win and you clinch the division. Its
Cardinals need some help as it stands, right, they just
need the Rams to lose. Cardinals win, Rams lose their
one game back. Bingo um. Packers one seed yet again.
It's kind of incredible to see what Green Bay has
been able to accomplish. They're the first team in NFL
history to win thirteen plus games in three straight seasons.
(35:47):
It's never been done before by Brady Montana, Manning, l Way,
far Car, etcetera. The Packers have done it. So green
Bay is the one seeds. All that got your how
many super Bowls? Well, well they've won one super Bowl,
but none in that stretch, of course. So I went
and looked ahead a little a little bit. Boy, you
(36:08):
really are testy tonight, aren't you. It's your own fault
because you started to believe the Dolphins were good. So
that's right. The Dolphins are up, but the Saints are
not yetminated. Dophins make me cry just like hoody. Hey
there you go, by the way. For those who didn't
hear earlier, the New Orleans Saints, who entered today at
(36:28):
seven and eight. If they win next week and the
Niners lose to the Rams, the Saints clinch a playoff
birth unreal, but I started looking ahead on acu weather
dot com and the temperature for what I think would
be the first playoff game in Green Bay for the Packers.
What the twenty three after they would have the week off. Uh,
(36:49):
nine degrees is going to be the low snow so
to be like tonight, good times, baby, And that's where
you have to go through to make the Super Bowl.
So as we stand right now, the NFC looks like this,
Packers the one seed, the Rams are the two, followed
by the Bucks as the three seed, but that's still
very much influx, and then the Cowboys are the four.
(37:12):
The Cardinals are the top wild card and that's pretty
set as the five seed, and then that battle for
six seven is between the Niners Eagles and the Saints.
Eagles are in regardless of what happens next week, against
the Cowboys. Niners control their own destiny, and then, of course,
as Steve laid out, they need to beat Atlanta, do
the Saints, and then hope that San Francisco loses in
(37:35):
Week eighteen to the Rams. And as far as the Rams,
they are at the moment the two seed ahead of
Tampa Bay on the tiebreaker because they beat Tampa Bay
head to head. The bad news is for the Rams
they already lost at Green Bay this year, so if
they have to return to Green Bay, the weather is
not gonna be any better than it was before, and
the team that they lost to already is gonna be
pretty similar to the one that they're gonna be seeing
(37:57):
in the postseason. That difference the head to head with
the Packers, that was the difference in the standings, right,
it's a it's a one game lead for the Packers.
This is why they've already clinched tonight with a one
game lead one to go, because they've already beaten the
second place to in the Rams. That's right. And if
you're wondering about scenarios for say the Ravens and the
(38:17):
Steelers in the a f C, I've got a little
math to do. And some dots to connect. But let's
just to say all of those scenarios start with the
Colts losing to Jacksonville. So if you're sitting here hoping
for the Raiders to still make it, if they lose
to the Chargers, are the Steelers or the Ravens to
(38:40):
make the playoffs? It all begins with Jacksonville, who gave
up at last check fifty today fifty. It all starts
with Jacksonville beating the Colts and Arnie um, bless their hearts.
I just don't think that's gonna be the case. It's goodness.
I said Trevor Lawrence was the best thing since sliced bread.
He still could be. The quarterbacks have a bat first year,
(39:02):
But I mean you yelling at us and calling a
stupid for not thinking they're gonna win nine games. That's
kind of my favorite part of this show so far. Um.
But regardless of that, I'd love this. I'd love to
see them inch closer to that ninth win by beating
the Colts this weekend and uh and again and again.
That game's not flex anywhere, because you can't the three
(39:24):
games that have been flex. Uh. The Chiefs will now
play the Saturday game, So Saturday for the Chiefs and
the Broncos, that's the four thirty Eastern game on ABC.
Saturday Night eight fifteen Eastern for the Cowboys and the Eagles.
In Week eight, team and Chargers Raiders will indeed be
Sunday Night Football. They've released a full schedule because they
(39:46):
literally had a lot of the game scheduled at noon,
they've balanced it out a little bit noon Central, one Eastern.
So we'll roll through that. But when we come back,
we'll kick off our number two with your tweets. They're
great so far, a lot of information we had to
get out, and our number one we've barely kind of
scratched the surface on the Antonio Brown saga. So we'll
break it all down coming to next. I mean, listen,
(40:07):
I don't know about you, Arnie, and I don't only
have like thirty seconds left in this hour. As crazy
as the Antonio Brown moment was, there's a part of
me that's worried. So I don't want to get you know,
to judgmental, or sit here and get too hot. Sports
take you on it, because it seems like there's something
deeper and maybe even more concerning going on here. And
I don't want to be that guy that tries to
get all smart look about it when he's really suffering.
(40:29):
So our one of the books. When we come back,
we'll hit your tweets. Next. That Plank show, it's Thinking
Genius one on Fox. We're rolling on a Sunday night.
It's already in Plank on Fox Sports Radio. That's Arenie Spaniard, Um,
Chris Plank. Are you Is it like kind of back
to normal for you? Now? What does that mean? Well?
(40:50):
I mean you were like NonStop working the Jason Smith
Show when Mike Harmon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. I don't know.
I worked last week too, I don't know. Yeah, and
I have a bad back. I'm just gonna lay in bed,
I pull the covers over my head. Now that the
Dolphins are in the playoffs, so do The funny thing
(41:12):
is you find yourself kind of magically just logging onto
another team, right, so I think you'll be okay, Well,
I'm gonna drop on the Packer band when I did
my Packers. Yeah, there you go. See now you're much better.
You're absolutely in the same all right. I mentioned this
hour is all about your tweets. But again, the big
(41:32):
story breaking tonight. Packers win it. They take care of
business in beating Minnesota in convincing fashion, and they finished
this season with thirteen wins in three consecutive seasons. And
it's never been done before. Um. Pretty impressive. So the
Packers winning by final score in Sunday Night Football over
(41:54):
the Vikings of thirty seven to ten. Never been done
by Brady Manning Montana Packer. What to win that many
games and not win a super Bowl? That's a Packer
l way far. This is your team you're supposed to
be rooting for. You like that? Well what David Couple
wished all of the zap but they've never won. Come on,
stop it. You can have a great season and not
win the Super Bowl? Oh can you sure? Wow? I
(42:18):
expect you know what. You should be fired for that comment.
So you got the Ricky Bobby if you're not first
your last mindset. By the way, Ricky Bobby is a
character and pretty much plank, that's the way it goes. Yeah,
if if you don't win it all, then you're a loser.
That's that's the that's my mentality. Gosh, why do you
even do this? That means you're what I mean, you're
(42:40):
happy about one team every single year. I mean, first,
you gotta be the way. Well you're you're happy if
you got like four out of six lottery numbers, Right, No,
you're not happy. Well, we're not playing the lottery here,
we're playing football season. And I mean you're telling me
the Bengals shouldn't be happy if they lose in the playoffs.
Let it be all happy. They wanted do make an inference. Hey,
(43:03):
you guys keep celebrating. It doesn't matter. The funny thing
is that's their same mindset to for them, it's championship
or nothing. So I mean, I don't put yourself, put
a pair of pads on are and you go out
there and sell. I did kind of like Cincinnati when
I was a kid. I don't know, maybe I'll jump
on that bandwagon by they gotta They got a break
in that game. They got a big time break in.
You know, to their credit, they took advantage of it.
(43:26):
They got a break on the I'm still trying to
figure out kind of what they they had um offsetting
penalties and it's like no, no, no, it's not. It
was a very confusing finish between the Chiefs and the Bengals,
but we'll get to that in a second. You and
your anger and your little crumpiness tonight. Uh, thirteen wins
in a regular season is pretty damn impressive, and the
(43:46):
Packers will have the one seat. Every seat after that
is still a battle in the NFC. Two through four
is still up in the air, though. Um I guess
for the most part, right now you would think the
Cowboys are gonna end up as the four. But the
Rams are twelve and four, the Bucks are twelve and four.
The Cowboys are just a game back at eleven and five.
(44:07):
Partic matchup you're looking forward to if they if they
hold like this are what? Yeah? Cowboys Cardinals again? I
thought a fun game today. The Cardinals are for sure
gonna be the five. I'll tell you what could be
really good? Think about this, and and again a lot
still needs to happen. But you could get a rematch
of the Week sixteen game between the Cowboys and the
(44:30):
Cardinals in the first round of the playoffs. And you
could get a rematch of a Week seventeen game between
the Rams and the forty Niners in the playoffs. UM.
Bucks and Eagles doesn't do much for me because I
do think Tampa Bay would win that game. But full
Patriots does allow for me in Buffalo this time in
the playoffs. Well yeah, and I'm not even thinking about
the a f C two terribly much right now. But um,
(44:52):
because I don't think a lot of people if the
Raiders made it would give them a fighting chance. If
the Chargers, I agree a percent with Matt Verderam. If
you're to seven, matchup in the first round is Chiefs Chargers.
They've played two great games this year. Um, you know
there's still a chance your three six could be like
Bengals Raiders in the first round. I think that could
(45:14):
be interesting in Cincinnati. But I'll tell you what, Um,
the we know pretty much who's in right in the NFC,
there's one drama. We don't know much of the seating, Arnie.
We have a good feel about who's in. But one
upset and all of a sudden, you have craziness that
could take place. And trust me, we've seen the Colts
lay an egg before. If they lay an egg against
(45:36):
Jacksonville next Sunday, pandemonium could There's only one game where
the upset could make a big difference, right am, I? Yeah,
that's it. That's it, that's it. Culture to win and
they're in. Um. If they lose to Jacksonville and Pittsburgh
wins its last two games, then Pittsburgh's hopes are still alive,
as is Baltimore's. But I just I don't really think
(45:58):
that's gonna be the case. Didn't you bet Pittsburgh over
seven and a half wins this year? Yeah? Yeah, that
was my big call. Pittsburgh over, Raiders over and Texans under.
Where my two big calls so far this Uh, actually
excuse me. Jacksonville under, Jacksonville under those are my three.
I'm two for three right now. I need some help.
Come on, Baker lay an egg for me tomorrow. Let's go.
(46:19):
You can't say that I'm not the Vikings. I think
about this. I just saw this from Mike Floria before
we get to your tweets. It's any In Plank on
a Fox Football Sunday. The Vikings went from thirteen and three.
They were thirteen and three and one, went away from
the Super Bowl in two thousand and seventeen. Then they
go out and they get Kirk Cousins. Since then, they've
(46:39):
been to the playoffs once in four seasons. They did
win a game in those playoffs, but they're the middle
of the pack franchise, satisfied to reside on the fringe
of contention. That's not a good way to lay out
where you are as a franchise. But I think it's
a hundred percent true with Minnesota right now. I'm not
saying anything about Kirk Cousins. It hasn't been said, but
(47:03):
I don't think game changer when I watch him play.
I feel like he's a good quarterback that needs a
lot of help around him. He's got a breakout started
receiver in Jefferson obviously feeling was hurt, so he was
out today and Kirk Cousins was out today. But I
don't know, Arnie, I don't know if I put this
all on Kirk Cousins over the last couple of seasons
as much as Kevin Stefanski left for the Browns. And
(47:25):
it's been tough for them to get their offense right since.
And they've just they've had they've had some bad luck.
Well they've had bad luck. They also have so many
weapons too, and you know, as you were about to
say that they've lost so many close games too, um
that they're easily could have been a different record there,
But then again seven and nine, the fans don't want
to hear that. You know what it could have should
(47:47):
Uh uh, they've got to make some changes. I don't
know what they could do about that contract with Cousins.
I don't know what's gonna happen there. Yeah, no, I
absolutely agree. And again there's there's one more year, a
couple of years left in it. No one more year
left in it, but there is an out. So Mike
Zimmer basically just deadpanned any possibility of seeing Kellen mont.
(48:08):
I mean, he absolutely destroyed him in the post game.
So we'll get to all that coming up here on
Fox Sports Radio. You wanna hit some tweets, um, a
couple of quick things, uh stinking genius to plank finding
out the Raiders are still alive? You're happy? I hate that. Yeah,
that's pretty much what it is. How and by the way,
this is like real life. Even during the break, he's
tweeting your team is gonna lose. Not I'm totally kidding,
(48:30):
but no, that's right. Uh. Emmett our buddy, the blind
Seahawks fan tweets at is artie r. Excuse me? Plank
and Danny are scared of Arnie next Sunday because of
the Raiders game. They want to find a new time
slot next week. Point is Arnie will just spam call
them if the Raiders lose, so they're not avoiding it
after to be on the air for like a half
(48:50):
hour while we're on the air, right, is that what
it's going to be? Well, scared is not the right word.
What it is is Arnie rex the Sunday night football
games because his feed is ahead of ours, and so
you hear money reacting to things that we none of
us have seen yet. Yeah, I might go see if
I can't find bunny ears do those things still exist?
And try to get like some raw feet of the
(49:11):
game somewhere. Why is that going to bother you? If
I said, oh, terrible, the Chargers scored again, it's now
thirty seven attention Because it's the same reason we put
our phones down during our favorite team while they're playing.
Because if somebody's feet is ahead of yours, you see
a reaction you're not sure what exactly know what ruins things? Danny,
(49:32):
You're missing it. He's being a smartass. Seven. It doesn't
make it difference it's made the same joke like twelve
times tonight. This is the over the Dolphins losing and
no one else wanting to be happy. He'll pick on
to Segar if the Chargers lose next week, so it
won't be celebrating with us, it'll be picking on. So Arnie,
if the Dolphins had one today, would you have been
(49:54):
calling them my raiders like you did the other night
on the network. If the Dolphins had one today, I'd
be in not from all, I for all, they'd they're
they're definitely gonna beat the Patriots next week, and that
was a guarantee. So they came within one game. There's
no way they were gonna lose to the Patriots next week.
No way, no way, nohow, that wasn't gonna happen, so
we were gonna get in the playoffs. But again you
(50:16):
also said there was no way they're gonna lose to
the Titans. So when they lose, I think this was
the one game I was worried, one freakle bit of
grumpels on this next week. It's gonna get worse when
they get smoked by the Patriots next week, So I'll
just prepare for it. Um a couple of other tweets,
LJ writs, already the Dolphins faced a winning team today
and we're exposed no playoffs. However, you're predicted five game
(50:40):
winning Patriots clinched a playoff spot. It's okay, Arnie. Friends
don't let friends say the Dolphins are making the playoffs. Wow,
I did. I laid negg on the Patriot pick. I
I said they're like a five win team. I I don't.
I didn't like them this year. They had no weapons.
I just didn't like them at all. Yeah, they're terrible. Um,
happ you I mean you do? This is the thing.
(51:04):
I don't know what it is. I don't know if
it's because you live around a lot of Patriot fans,
but even you know the ten eleven years, however long,
we've done this every year, you picked the Patriots to
suck every single year. I just if you finally got
one right last year, congratulations. But now they bounced back,
(51:26):
and I'm sorry, I don't think they're going anywhere for
a while. Well, they're not gonna win it anyway. There're
no gon eliminated in the first round, and so I'm
not too worried about it. Well from a team that
you thought would only win five wins and you would
say they suck. That's not too bad of of an
exceeding expectations from where you had them. Bill Rights Happy two,
starting year twenty four of listening to the Stinking Genius,
(51:50):
going back to the one on one eight hundred seven
seven seven to nine seven. Do you still have that
Nick's jingle that you would always play all the time?
We are the New York Knicks. I grew up listening
to Arnie Spaniels, so this is big for me to
be able to hang out with him every single Sunday night.
Adam right and tell Arnie that he isn't the only
(52:13):
one whose team let him down Tonight. I'm a Vikings fan,
so I guess we'll be grumpy together. Oh, he wasn't
going to make the playoffs anyways. They were as close
as they had a better chance to analogy. We were
on a roll. We were the best team in football
for seven weeks. Okay, this is why you're so mad.
You allowed yourself to believe that. Stop telling yourself lies.
(52:36):
It's like looking in the mirror and saying I'm in
good shape. Don't do that. I almost texted you and
said we need a new quarterback. But I just I,
what did you say? Um, because oh yeah, sees it
over that's right. And by the way, I think that
was after the first touchdown of the game. Um, oh
this is actually you know, I said, I want to
(52:57):
steer clear of the Antonio Brown's stuff. But nature Boy
does bring a good point. I know when why Antonio
Brown acted up today. He wanted to show us a
six pack. Now, if I was built like that, I'd
probably walk around a lot of places with my shirt
off as well. Anyway. And uh, and I like this
from J. P. Huncle who writes, did Arnie just say
no one likes Raiders fans? Isn't that like the cop
(53:20):
the pot calling the kettle black? That is true, though
we don't. You're not very popular, you know that, don't
who's that? Raider fans fans don't care about popularity. Uh?
And then Victor Wrights, Ken Brady and the Bucks go
coast to coast and finish it so Fi Stadium in
the Super Bowl. You've already said that's not happening, right.
(53:42):
The short answer to that is no, that's not happening.
What's the elongated answer? You just Uh, is this a
Antonio Brown. It's not happening. That's the long one too. Boy,
this is some They don't call him the best color
man in the game for nothing money, not just I mean,
think about all the injuries they have. He has no
(54:04):
wide receivers except for Evans to throw through their complete best.
They've got injuries. It's just not happening for him, but forgetting.
And the NFC is way too top. So you know, goodbye.
You're you're never winning another Super Bowl. You've got your
million of them, so move on. By the way, can
we just make a new rule when Arnie's teams lose,
just give him the night off. Let's just institute a
(54:24):
new rule that whenever your team loses, you get the
night All Arizona Wildcats and March Madness, that's all you got. Yeah,
what if they lose in March Madness? I really get crabby. Well,
I again, I should be doing a Snicker's commercial when
when they lose. I don't even think eating a Snickers
would help you out at that point if they were
losing it um and then Enrique writes, and just like that,
(54:48):
the Packers are doomed. Thanks Arnie for ruining another great
team hashtag kiss of death. Did you say my Packers already?
You know I got a picture of me and the
Packer helmet mobile. All right, when we come back, we're
gonna have to Vegas. Todd Furman will give us some
perspective on what to expect, and apparently it was a really,
(55:09):
really good day for the books. We'll get perspective from
the co host of the Bet the Board podcast next
on Fox Sports Radio, Arnie and Plank on the Fox
Football Sunday Here on Fox Sports Radio Playoffs just about
sat And next Sunday night in Vegas. It's gonna be
a party. Todd Ferman joins us at the Board podcast. Todd,
(55:31):
can we can we finally, finally, finally not have any
other teams fans come in and take over that stadium? Though,
I will say Vegas fans have done a pretty good
job when that happens of raising their volume a little bit, right.
I don't think anybody has ever worried about a Chargers
take over Chris, whether you're playing it so by stadium,
when you're playing in Las Vegas, you're playing on the
(55:51):
surface of the moon. I think the Black and Silver
will be out in full force, and it will really
feel like a true home field advantage working in the
Raiders favor next Sunday night. You know, Todd, too bad
they didn't flix that to the Saturday game Saturday afternoon,
Saturday night in Vegas. How great would that have been
at that time? Huh? I think Sunday night it'll be
just as electric. I have to imagine that you'll get
(56:13):
Raider faithful out here as early as Friday afternoon, setting
up shop in the parking lot of Allegiance Stadium, tailgating
and doing everything they can to try and have an
improbable playoff run or at least punch of tickets to
the postseason, given everything this franchise has had to deal
with all year long, including losing one of their figureheads
this past week and John Madden. So I'm curious, Todd,
(56:33):
what was today like for the books? It seems like
it might have been a pretty good day for him,
good day for the books early on, and they gave
a lot of those profits back in the afternoon. When
you look at the way things played out, The only
decision the Books got what they wanted was Arizona covering,
as they wrote, underdog against the Dallas Cowboys. Anybody who
was chasing in the evening game, of course, didn't care
about price. They saw Sean Mannion's name of Vikings offense
(56:56):
that wasn't gonna exactly have a ton of pieces working
in its favor her, and they were willing to bet
that game over the total and lay the points with
the Packers. So all in all, I think it'll be
a break even day for most of the books out there.
And then tomorrow night and unusual circumstance starting to unfold.
Where you had the Pittsburgh Steelers is three three and
a half point underdogs all week. They've now moved into
a two two and a half point favorite rule. We'll
(57:18):
see if that gets to a full field goal, which
would obviously mean books would be rooting against either one
of those teams winning by three points or less. You know, Toddy,
it goes to the point of like the living against
the dead. That's why the books were gonna get clover.
The Packers were the living pretty much against the dead. Um.
You know, you see these teams that have so much
to play for, you know, the Patriots and Jacksonville, the
(57:39):
living against the dead, and all of a sudden, the
books a getting clovers, those teams are covering. You know,
it all depends. Obviously, there's a price on every game.
And you could have said the same thing about the
Jets and Bucks earlier days. That was one of the
biggest teaser pieces and moneyline parley legs, and it took
an improbable comeback from Tampa, including a botch fourth and
short from the Jets when they had a chance to
(57:59):
put that game away. So the point spread is always
the great equalizes of the general public only looks at
narrative and they're not swayed off based on a seven,
a ten, or fourteen. And you're gonna have to pay
a premium next week to bet a lot of those
teams that quote unquote have something to play for in
week eighteen. Hey Todd, how concerned are you with Dallas
not being able to generate anything today? Michael Gallup's injury
(58:21):
obviously heards it. Maybe that's unfair of me because they
got things going it was a little too late. Is
today more about Arizona needing a win or or maybe
Dallas showing its vulnerabilities? You know, I think it's a
combination of both. I think this Dallas team had played
extremely well over the last month. We've seen its defense
start to get healthy and an offense that clicked on
all cylinders last week against Washington. You can dig into
(58:42):
the schedule of opponents and know that that leaves you
with plenty of questions, but inevitable that the Cowboys might
let down a little bit realizing they've clinched the division.
We all talk about the number one seed, but Dallas
was gonna need some help to be able to make
that happen. Meanwhile, Arizona backs against the wall. They've had
to read and listen to everybody saying that they were pretender,
including folks like myself who weren't impressed over the last
(59:03):
couple of weeks. Now we'll see how Arizona handles a
bit of prosperity, because the one thing that Cardinals have
done better than any team in the league this year,
they're now six and oh straight up and against the
number when they're catching points. They haven't fared quite so
well when they have a target on their back, especially
playing in their own building. And we'll see next week,
because they do have a chance to win the division
if the forty Niners are able to upset the Rams simultaneously, Todd,
(59:24):
I see some of the early lines coming out that
Kansas City Denver game. Did I see that Kansas City
was opened up as a three point favorite that jumped
up to ten or something like that? And I, yeah,
I know you're correct. That game was available Kansas City
minus three up until kickoff of the games today because
at Kansas City one, they had a chance to potentially
rest their players next week. Obviously, with Tennessee beating your
(59:45):
beloved Dolphins in Kansas City losing in the final seconds
against the Bengals, suddenly Kansas City has to win and
get help to get that number one seed. So you've
seen that price go from three out to ten. Uh.
And I think you know if the number continues to climb,
you will see an appetite for folks to try and
at Denver, knowing that that number is rather inflated given
the fact that Kansas City closed about an eight and
a half nine point favorite at home against the Broncos
(01:00:06):
and Sunday Night Football and needed a few turnovers to
find separation. Todd, real quick, before we wrap up with
some more NFL, I want to talk some college football
shop with you. Four team playoffs were for the most
part blowouts. While they wore blowouts. Saturday's games I thought
were great from start to finish, including a memorable Rose Bowl.
But are you surprised the number is where it is
(01:00:28):
from Monday night between Georgia and Alabama or is it
about where you thought it was going to be. I
can't say I'm surprised. I honestly laid one with Georgia
when that number open, figuring it was going to climb.
When you look at these two teams, so many people
want to go out. We saw Alabama and how they
fared as an underdog in the SEC Title game, but
that was a game where Alabama was playing for their
entire season. You can say Georgia may or may not
(01:00:50):
have been complacent, but this will be a much more
desperate Georgia team in my opinion. Plus, along those same lines,
you're not looking at an Alabama team that's down a
couple of key cogs that they had in that SEC
Title game won an offense and John MESHI it's tough
to replace nearly a hundred catches of productivity and defensively,
year down one of the elite cover corners in the country,
and Josh job. Meanwhile, Georgia gets their slot cornerback and
(01:01:11):
Bernie Smith, and I think it changes the dynamic in play.
The big question for Georgia can they get over that
mental block that has been Alabama, Because if you listen
to Stetson, Bennett's comments in the postgame press conference didn't
exactly strike me as someone who was extremely confident. But
if Georgia can't win now and get that elusive national
championship back to Athens for the first time since ninety
they may never win a national title as long as
(01:01:32):
Nick Saban is walking the sidelines in Tuscaloosa, Todd, I
assume when the light gets to three, there'll be a
lot of Alabama backers will go to three, three and
at four and continue to climb. You tell me, no,
I think you're gonna see some resistance, And I think
you're gonna get the general public that remembers what they
saw the last time these two teams did battle, and
they're going to go Nick Saban as an underdog in
a game of this magnitude, they won't be able to
(01:01:53):
ignore that generous number. And for professional betters that got
out ahead of the market, they're gonna have some options,
whether it's taking three back, looking to kind of land
the middle, we're coming back over the top on the
Alabama money line. You give yourself all sorts of potential
as a better if you grab the best of the
number and kind of reassess your position as the game
gets closer. Todd One final NFL thought, Who do you
(01:02:15):
consider to be the favorite in the NFC? The history
of of Green Bay obviously is concerning, because there's been
I don't want to say meltdowns, but disappointments in the playoffs.
Are are they kind of in your mind the favorite?
I know they're the one seed. Would you give a
nod maybe to the Rams or even Tampa? Now the
Rams I've seen too much inconsistency over the last couple
(01:02:35):
of weeks. I don't love the fact that Matthew Staffords
throwing six interceptions to only five touchdown passes in his
last three games. Green Bay, you know it's an interesting
team because you look at how they're performing. Now they'll
have a chance to rest up. I wouldn't imagine under
any scenario that Aaron Rodgers is out there under center
in the regular season finale against the Lions and then
you throw in the potential return of David back Try Jr.
(01:02:56):
Alexander in the secondary. Suddenly Green Bay gets a couple
of potential pro bowlers into the mix to make this
team that much more compelling. And when you talk about
the devaluation of home field advantage in two, that doesn't
apply to playing in frigid temperatures and Lambeau. I know
Tampa beat him up there last year, but this Bucks team,
given the circus that we saw in fold of the
Antonio Brown, No Chris Godwin, I don't think as nearly
(01:03:18):
as dynamic. The team that I honestly believe could give
them a scare more than anybody would be the Cowboys.
But I'm just not sure Dallas is mentally tough enough
to go in a lambo and win a potential NFC
championship game. Whole blackjack table for me, three dollar black
jack coming out in a couple of weeks, so you know,
Arnie at this Arnie, at this rate, and how things
are trending with inflation, that three dollar blackjack table will
(01:03:40):
be worth about seventy five cents. So I may Paul ahead,
I'll see if I can get you in the casino Niagara.
I know it's a little bit closer to your neck
of the woods. Am I going to be allowed to
play black jack? Because my middle name is is card
counter card? Six decks, seven decks makes makes no difference
to me. I card doubt that, you know, Arnie. I'm
happy to deal with you six deck black jack. I'll
slant a couple was in my favorite and we can
(01:04:01):
set up shop in my backyard and you let me
know what kind of limits you're looking for. But I
want to see all the cash on the table. Your
credit is no good around? Is it Benflack like band
from some casinos because he could card count? Yeah, he
was involved in some of that before. He also has
ties to sports betting, but that's a different discussion for
a different day. And there have been books written about
such topics and movies made too. Todd, You're the man. Everyone.
(01:04:24):
Check out the bet the Board podcast a phenomenal listen.
You can find it in any podcast provider. We'll talk
to again next week, looking forward to a gentleman, especially
once we know the playoff field and we'll be twenty
four hours away from crowne and national champion. Right, Todd
ferman I keep saying Monday, and I hope everyone realizes
that college football isn't turning around from playing a game
Friday and then on Monday, so week from Monday, I
(01:04:46):
should be specific. The reship to the ratings can be terrible.
It's I'm just telling you right now. You know we
were talking about this on Friday night as Steve da
Sager comes rolling in to get us caught up on
everything in the world of sports. I honestly think now
there might be a good chance that the Rose Bowl
will outrate the National Semifinals, no doubt, not just the games,
(01:05:06):
but the time slots. Absolutely. As far as the Sunday
night NFL game tonight at Green Bay, if I just
told you the Packers kicked off eight times and the
Vikings kicked off twice, they were pretty much given indication
of what may have gone on. Packers had four touchdowns,
went three for three on field goals thirty seven ten
the final over Minnesota. The Vikings at seven and nine
(01:05:27):
officially eliminated. Quarterback Kirk Cousins was out tested positive Dalvin
Cook Tonight nine carries thirteen yards. Green Bay went eight
and oh at home this year, thirteen and three is
their overall record, they clinched the number one seed for
the NFC playoffs. Now. In the report tonight, A p
on the game does note Green Bay has won thirteen
(01:05:48):
straight home games in the regular season, but did lose
the NFC Championship at home to Tampa Bay last season,
and the Packers have not reached the Super Bowl since
their twenty ten title, and they lost the conference title
game four of the last seven seasons. Aaron Rodgers with
two touchdown passes tonight. In fact, with the bad toe
over the last six games, eighteen tds, no interceptions. If
(01:06:11):
you can run and you don't turn it over, and
your home in the playoffs, I'd say they have a
chance to win playoff games. A J. Dillon with two
touchdown runs in the second half. And Davante Adams is
up to a hundred seventeen receptions on the season, that
breaks the Packers season record that he set last year.
Of course, with the expanded schedule, there's one more game
to play. I assume he won't be playing in it,
(01:06:32):
but the team does have one more game. The Packers
next meaningful contest won't be for another three weeks or so.
Adams had eleven receptions a hundred thirty six yards and
one touchdown. Tonight, Arizona held on to win at Dallas.
Dallas will play this Saturday nights at Philadelphia, and the Eagles,
thanks to tonight's result, have clinched a playoff spot. Philadelphia
(01:06:53):
want its fourth game in a row today winning at Washington.
As for next Sunday night, it's Chargers at Raiders. Winner
goes to the playoffs. Raiders one. Today in Indianapolis on
the last second field goal, Chargers were winners over Denver,
eliminating the Broncos. As we've talked about earlier, not just
which Charger team is gonna show up which Raider team. Honestly,
(01:07:15):
this could be very entertaining for those reasons. The Chargers
lost by double digits at the Texans just last week,
and then today they were so solid, not just no turnovers,
they didn't have a single penalty in the game till
late third quarter. They have all these Pro Bowl starters
that I mentioned earlier, not just justin Herbert, but also
Keenan Allen of the Chargers five straight years, five Pro
(01:07:39):
Bowls and at least ninety five receptions in each of
those five years. In fact, in NFL history, He's one
of the few receivers two in a five year span
have five hundred catches. Antonio Brown, by the way, also
on that list, Mike Williams went over the thousand yard
mark receiving four the season today and the Chargers did this.
I know Denver's offense is wretched, especially recently. This is
(01:08:01):
a Vic Fangio team defensive coach over thirty years in
the league. This is the top defense as far as
fewest points against them in the NFL. Until today, Denver
was only allowing seventeen points a game. Chargers got thirty four.
So what of the Raiders. They got the late field
goal to win today. But remember that Monday night game
when they played the Chargers in October, the game that
(01:08:23):
started late because of the lightning in the area. Once
they got going, the Chargers wonteen, but the halftime lead
was twenty one nothing against Las Vegas. I can't imagine
the Raiders had a worse half of any game all year,
including in the recent slump during this season. The Chargers
in the first half that night about two fifty yards
of offense. The Raiders had about fifty yards and one
(01:08:47):
first down in the first half, So the Raiders will
be home this time next Sunday night. Cincinnati beat Kansas
City thirty thirty one. Bengals clinched the a f C
North Tennessee eliminated My Emmy thirty four three. Titans clinched
the a f C South. Buffalo beat Atlanta fifteen. Bills
clinch a playoff birth New England fifty to ten over
(01:09:09):
Jacksonville Patriots clinch a playoff spot. Two NBA notes Boston
won in overtime against Orlando Jalen Brown fifty points. The
Lakers were playing in Minnesota team tonight, where Carl Anthony
Towns and D'Angelo Russell were still out due to health
protocols and probably out tomorrow as well. Lakers survived one
oh one oh three to get up to nineteen and
(01:09:29):
nineteen on the season. Russell Westbrook nine turnovers and five
assists in the victory from three point range. He was
over five tonight. Back to you by the way, that
it was good stuff. Steve Disager's got a more in
depth look at Week eight team coming up here in
a bit. The last time the Raiders and the Chargers
played on the October four, it seems like a lifetime ago.
(01:09:52):
It was Monday Night football and it was the first
loss of the season for the Raiders. They were three
and oh that week. That next Tuesday was when the
Jon Gruden story broke, and that's when it all hit
the fan and the the original, the first Jon Gruden's
story with the in the words he used to talk
(01:10:15):
about the Players Association president, and the Raiders decided, hey,
the apologize to the team. They let him coach through it.
He went on that next week and they lost to
the Bears twenty nine and argue, if the Chargers game
was their worst game of the season, the Bears game
had like three drops by Darren Waller, it made no sense.
(01:10:37):
Gruden was fired the next week and since then, I've all,
they've had all kinds of adversity throughout the year, the
Henry Rugs tragedy, but holy smokes, I'm still kind of
in shock seven. With the chance to go to the
playoffs with Gruden, what would the record be right now?
I don't know if it'd be much different. Danny, what
do you think if Gruen was still around? I'll tell
you the difference maker. And I don't want to get
(01:10:59):
into the conversation ation because I don't like to mention
the guy's name because of what happened. Henry Ruggs was
the big difference maker. I mean, that's the guy that
when you think about where could they be? To me, Danny,
it's not where they could be with Gruden, it's where
they could have been if he wouldn't have made that
horrific No, I agree, because without Rugs they haven't been
able to stretch the field very well. You saw Za
(01:11:21):
Jones step up in a major way today, but that's
his first what one yard game of his career? Um,
So yeah, I think you're right. Ruggs has been the
bigger of the missing two pieces. Unbelievable. But so Chargers
Raiders Monday Night or Sunday Night football. We still have
a Monday night game. The Steelers still have playoff hopes.
(01:11:41):
But again, and and I've mentioned this a lot, every
playoff hope that surrounds the Steelers and the Ravens involves
Jacksonville beating Indianapolis, which again, there's a bit of a
lot going to happen. So I want to give you
credit on two things. So I do that real quick
because you're down tonight, and I'm more of a hype
man than you are. I like to build people up.
(01:12:03):
You like to beat them down. Let me let me
build you up on something. Here. Last year and and
the handful of years that it's happened, you have everyone
losing their minds about, oh, I can't have an under
five hundred team hosting a playoff game. This the NFL
has to change its rules because a division champion shouldn't
get a home game with a losing record. And you
(01:12:24):
had constantly said it happened so rarely. Everybody calmed down, right,
because I have been a person that at the time
kind of falls into the knee jerky nature of it. Well,
consider this. The NFC East went from having four teams
finished below five to having what a couple of playoff
(01:12:45):
teams in one of the Cowboys and the Eagles. So
to me, Arnie, it shows you calling for a change
in the playoff format is a circumstantial thing. It's an overreaction.
A team can be a division can be challenged one
year and then completely turn itself around the next. So
no reason to lose our minds, right, just let it
(01:13:05):
play out. It happened so rarely. I mean, we we've
talked about the worst teams in the playoffs before on
this show, and there's like four teams that had a
losing record and won their division in the last I
don't think we need to be losing our mind and
changing things. I think the NFC East this year is
a good example of that. Right. It's only a big
deal when it happens and everybody loses their marbles and
(01:13:25):
they're like, oh, let's see what happens there. By the way,
in the new format, um four plays five, so um,
it's you know, it's not like the five seed is
going to be not much better than the five seed
in the end of the NFC has eleven wins this year,
which yeah, right, I mean, good luck. You get to
face Kyler Murray in the first trap, and then last
(01:13:46):
week we were you were, I don't know, maybe it
was the week before you were very high on Tyler
Huntley and still are. In fact, I think you were
saying audios to Lamar cha Jackson. Yes. Charles Woodson on
Fox says that Tyler Huntley can do exactly what Lamar
Jackson can do as a runner, and he passes a
(01:14:07):
little bit better, and he believes the Ravens can win
with him, huh, which they did uh not do today
they fell to the rams. But how about that a
little vote of support for your tire, Tyler Huntley take
from Charles. Remember I got ripped on that, but was
it authentic? Allen said, I don't know what the hell
I'm talking about, and everyone's ripping to me on Twitter
(01:14:29):
over that one. I'm like, really, that's a hot take.
When you have a quarterback that can as good as
only and you don't have to pay him a boatload nobody,
by the way, you're gonna have to pay Lamar Jackson.
Um what a five year? Uh? What forty million a
year plus? Is that? What? It's gonna two hundred million
plus two undred million dollars? Good luck to that, my friend.
(01:14:50):
Everyone wants to my homes contract or Dak Prescott contract.
All right, there's a couple of you were right, Harney.
I'm here to build you up, buddy. Now when we
come back to Sager's gonna tell you where you were wrong. Um,
it's all next with any Plank on a Fox Football Sunday,
Sony and Plank on the Fox Football Sunday, Steve to
Seger wrapping up our number two with us what's going on, Steve.
(01:15:12):
We've got a Monday night game coming up at Pittsburgh,
Ben Roethlisberger against the Browns. We know how that he
usually finishes. The Browns were officially eliminated from the playoffs.
They'll still play tomorrow night on the road. Pittsburgh almost
eliminated at seven seven and one Cleveland seven and eight.
And we assume this will be Big Ben's final game
at hines Field at that uh well, at home game.
(01:15:35):
So let's say against the Browns in his career regular
season twelve and oh and of course dominant overall. So
we'll see how we finished two favorite on a two
point favorite. Have you seen the Steelers offense, including Roethlisberger
taking them all night? Cleveland has lost three or four.
They were eliminated from playoff contention today when the Chargers won.
(01:15:55):
The Browns already lost at the Chargers this year. Chargers
at ray Ter's next Sunday night, with the winner going
to the playoffs, cannot waits. Meanwhile, the Chargers win today
was thirty four thirteen over Denver to eliminate the Broncos.
I will say and keep this in mind when we
head toward the Super Bowl. That ram slash Charger Stadium
(01:16:15):
continues to be great for field goal kickers. It is
a really controlled environment. It's not grass, it's a turf field,
even though you have the open air at the end zones.
Technically it's not a dome stadium, but there is a cover.
The field goal kicking has been superb there, not just
this year, but it opened last year without fans as well.
The Broncos Brandon mcmanush usually has the long field goals
(01:16:37):
at home with altitude no altitude in Inglewood, California, and
he made a sixty one yard or at the end
of the first half today just for the record. So
once we get to that stadium hosting the Super Bowl
mid February, we will keep that in mind. Meanwhile, the
Chargers Andre Roberts, a great acquisition mid season, returned to
kickoff one hundred one yards for a touchdown in that
(01:17:00):
and he also had a return of the other Broncos
kickoff at forty seven yards. Yes, the Broncos are dead
last in the NFL kickoff returns allowed and the great
yardage that goes against them, but the two pickups for
this Charger team on special teams much needed and I'm
sure appreciated not only Roberts who's been a return man
(01:17:20):
for years, but kicker Dustin Hopkins, who is perfect inside
fifty yards as a Charger. That kickoff return, by the way,
Roberts the Chargers first kickoff returned for a touchdown in
nine years, so it was something that had been needed.
It was not the all time Charger record. There was
a hundred five yard or against the Raiders about a
(01:17:42):
decade ago, but it had been quite a while, so
a win there. And yeah it was against the Broncos,
who still don't have an offense. I mean, last week
the Broncos had nine drives eight first downs. Today they
started first four drives, only five first down. They turned
it over on downs three different times throughout the day
today and also had a turnover on special teams where
(01:18:03):
they fumbled a punt. So Denver, when they're down at
the half this year and eight when they lose the
turn the turnover battle, oh and seven this year, when
they even just give up twenty points in a game,
Denver is oh N six. They've literally not won a
game when they've given up twenty points. That says something
about the offense. Seattle has been a disappointment as well,
(01:18:24):
although dk Metcalf, who's had a silent second half of
the season, did have three touchdown catches. Today. Seattle at
home beat Detroit Russell Wilson, you're not kidding Russell Wilson
four t d passes, Rashad Penny a hundred seventy yards
rushing and two touchdowns. And did you see that Cardinals
catch on the fake punt David Tyree? It was like that.
(01:18:48):
It extended a drive, it ended with an Arizona touchdown,
and they wound up winning by three against Dallas. So
Dallas will play the Saturday night game next weekend at Philadelphia.
This Cardinals win at Dallas. By the way, did you
see Jerry Jones that afterwards wide receiver Michael Gallop out
for the year torn a c L M R I
not coming till tomorrow. But they lost by three and
(01:19:09):
Greg's rline missed a forty three yard field goal attempt
in the first quarter. Meanwhile, Matt Prator of the Cardinals
hit a fifty three yarder at the end of the
first half. He wound up four for four on field goals.
Dallas had ten penalties, Ezekiel Elliott nine carries just sixteen
yards rushing. The Cowboys in conference had been nine and one,
but they were up against it against Arizona. So the
(01:19:30):
Cardinals on the road this year went eight and one.
So if they have to go on the road in
the postseason, okay, fine. Kyler Murray familiar with that stadium today,
by the way, including high school and college. Now nine
and oh in that stadium he had two touchdown passes,
and congrats to the Bengals for clinching the division title,
and Cincinnati could win a tiebreaker for the number three
(01:19:51):
seed based on the good conference record. But Jamaar Chase
eleven catches a team record two hundred sixty six yards
three score in Cincinnati down fourteen nothing, still beat Kansas
City Real. So what uh? He's nine and oh so
two and oh in in in the NFL. Couple of
wins in college state championships at Allen, Texas in high school,
(01:20:15):
Jerry Jones, what were you doing? You should have given
up everything to go get Kyler Murray. My gosh, oh gosh,
all right, our two of the books when we come
back after a week seventeen in the NFL, we know
this with Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio Final Hour,
Week seventeen almost in the books. Almost. You've got Pittsburgh
(01:20:38):
in Cleveland, Monday night football in the Central and Eastern
time zone coming up tonight, still Tomorrow night in the
Pacific time zone. Arnie and I are living in the future. Um, alright,
So we kick off our Final Hour every single Sunday night,
and we do it beyond just football. We do it
during the NBA season and during baseball. Obviously weeks a
(01:21:00):
little different, but Artie, we like to try to get
an idea of what we've learned, what we know as
this show kind of starts heading down the home stretch.
So here we go, Artie, after a week seventeen in
the NFL, I know this, and it took me this
long to figure it out that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
are not winning a Super Bowl and that Tom Brady
is never gonna win a Super Bowl again. Good game
(01:21:22):
over four jew yards, never gonna win another one again,
four new yards passing, three touchdowns. But this is it,
This is the end. They were losing to the Jets,
should have lost to the Jets. Um. The team is
in disarray, They've got injuries, an Tonio Brown's gone. Not
a good way to get yourself into the playoffs. Plus,
what are they uh A three seeds? So again, it's
(01:21:45):
so tough in the NFC with the Packers and the
Rams and the Cowboys and the Cardinals. I just don't
see it happening. Um, seventeen weeks in the books, No way,
the Buccaneers is gonna win the Super Bowl this year?
All right? Um, it's kind of like when you try
to bury the Chiefs. I warned you, I've seen this
movie before. There is not the same thing. This is done.
It's over. It's over. R o. Um. I hate. I
(01:22:09):
hate when you okay, then nothing after a week seventeen
Well again, this is one of those moments where you
kind of act like an a hole. Uh and then
the next thing, you know, the Jaguars when four games
are three games all year long? Are you can't just
bury them? You can't. They're twelve and four football team.
They're better off this year than they were last year.
They're a mess right now, Well they're a mess because
(01:22:30):
Antonio Brown decided to lose his mind. But you sit
here and basically, let me think of a family friendly
way to put this. You basically sit here and build
up tom Brady all season long, and the greatness of
Tom Brady and Tom Brady is gonna shove it in
Bill Belichick's face, and basically on the eve of the playoffs,
when they're sitting in a better spot going into the
(01:22:51):
playoffs this year than last seating wise, this is when
you're gonna bury it. It took it took me seventeen
weeks to realize, but yes, this is where I'm gonna
I read them now. Interesting, interesting hill to start all right,
after a week seventeen the NFL season, I know this.
Mike Zimmer's done finished over. Listen to this in the
(01:23:12):
post game after the Vikings were destroyed, not only talking
about his quarterback, but about getting eliminated from the playoffs.
Do you think you want to get a look at
man next week? Not particularly Mike, Why don't you want
to get a look at him? Same every day? Just
your thoughts on geting eliminated from the half second year
in a row. And I don't know what what are
your thoughts? Agree with that? Yeah, pretty good? Appreciate your thoughts.
(01:23:40):
Oh man, he sounds like you try to do the
show with you tonight. Oh, Mike, could you imagine him
and I doing the show together tonight? All great? With that,
you guys would have the most uncomfortable amount of dead
air you could ever have in your life. Uh, you know,
it's kind of wild to think about his Zimmer has
been the head coach now for eight seasons. His first
year was team Let me tell you, is that a
(01:24:00):
hell of a run? Right? Um? He's one that you
don't think he's had a good run. He's won the
NFC North a couple of times, made it to the
NFC Championship Game, but the last two years under five hundred,
and he's gonna finish under five hundred this year as well.
I've had a good run, but that ended and that's
(01:24:21):
why it's gonna end up costing his job. And you know,
with a little bit of luck, he could have had
a much better record, have been over five hundred. It
just didn't work out with him that way. So that's
why he was so crabby because he knows he's not
coming back after this year. Here's a question I have, Um,
is that a good job? Like? When you start thinking
about available jobs in the NFL, and of those that
(01:24:42):
we think are gonna be open, you obviously the Jaguars
currently open. The Raiders. I mean, I think there's a
chance they might give that interim staff another year. We'll
see the the Bears, the Broncos, you know, the Vikings
in the mix. That's decent vacancy. Right, It's it's a
better job than Las Vegas or Jacksonville. I don't think
(01:25:04):
it's a better job in Vegas. I don't think it's
a better job at all. In Vegas. We're looking at
the division doy sooner or later. Uh, Rogers is gonna retire.
So what does that leave Chicago and Detroit with a
new coach in Chicago to so in Detroit being terrible.
So yeah, it's I mean it's a fair point because
you go to a place where you have a pretty
(01:25:26):
good defense, right, I guess you have questions offensively, you
have justin Jefferson. I mean, you've got one more year
of Kirk Cousins. I mean, he's an unrestricted free agent
in twenty three. I don't know, I don't know. I
think it's a fascinating opening. Uh don't know if it's great,
don't know if it's terrible, somewhere in the middle. But
I think it's gonna be open in Minnesota. All right, Arnie,
(01:25:47):
where you going? All right? With one week left in
the regulars, I can't believe there's only one week left
in the regular season. I thought you it's as we
just flew on by with one week left in the
regular season. I'm starting to think maybe the Cincinnati Bengals
are the best team in the a f C. Is
that is that absolutely great? They look good today, They
look good to the last couple of weeks. Matter of fact,
(01:26:08):
if they were playing that the playoffs were playing right now,
is there anybody in the a f C um that
you would take over Cincinnati? Go no, I I gotta
have them over Cincinnati. I don't think so. Maybe Kansas
City in Kansas City. But man, they look so good.
I'm liking the way they're they're playing the last couple
of games. You know. It's it's funny because I've I've
(01:26:29):
been big on Cincinnati since um they beat the snot
out of the Raiders and it was one of those
things where I started to kind of fall for him
because of their defense. And everyone loves Joe Burrow and
all the offensive weapons that they have, but they've got
a pretty good defense. Now I know, um, it struggled
early on today, but it tightened up late. What what
was that statue through out there? Only three points for
(01:26:51):
the Chiefs in the second half of this game. Uh.
And as it stands right now, they own the tiebreaker
over the Bills. So if the Bengals take care of
business next week to wrap up their regular season against
the Browns in Cleveland. By the way, the Browns beat
them bad earlier, so there's a good chance they could
(01:27:12):
still end up with the three. Kansas City's got Denver.
I've gotta believe, Arnie that Kansas City is gonna beat Denver.
I just have and and you would you would have
to think that with the way things are going for
Tennessee right now, they wouldn't blow it on the road
against Houston to wrap up the season, even though Houston's
had a few shocking wins. But that's a long filibuster
(01:27:34):
to say they're sitting in the three spot in the
a f C. That's incredible for where this franchise has been.
You know, last year they're they're having to start third
string guys because Burrow gets hurt and they can't keep
their quarterback healthy. The year before that. I mean, they
had the top pick in the draft. It's just it's
a pretty incredible climb for a team that was okay
(01:27:56):
and making the playoffs and winning the division with Andy
Dalton now second year with Joe Burrow An, I'm with you.
He looks like a rock star, right. Yeah, you know,
if you want to do the anti Cincinnati thing, though,
I will tell you this. You know, I like to
look at SLV strink the victory. They're very good. Point
four four zero, like the second or third lowest in
the a f C. Lowest is at you. The Patriots
(01:28:16):
they're under point four. It's point three nine six and
uh um. I believe the Colts don't have a very
good one either, So you know, you can say they've
beaten up the direc of society. Also, after it's in
my turners again, it's okay, I've got two more for you.
After week seventeen, heading into the final week of the season,
I know this. You can go from he wrote to
(01:28:38):
zero very quickly, breaking news. And I don't know if
anyone magnified that quicker today. Then Carson Wentz. I went
back before the show started and rewatched some of the
highlights he missed so many throws Arnie so and again
it's not as if every guy was wide and the
(01:29:00):
Raiders did an okay job and coverage and got some
pressure on him. But that third down in eight passed
at t Y Hilton, Hilton was probably gonna score. I
was gonna be the biggest play of the game because
Roderick Teamer decided to double team a hash Mark Um.
But sixteen hundred and forty eight yards, his only touchdown
(01:29:21):
went right through the hands of a defender, and his
quarterback rating according to ESPN s qb R was twenty
nine twenty nine. That's bad. So the roller coaster, the
roller coaster ride of Carson Wentz continues. They're gonna get
in the playoffs. And maybe part of it is that
he didn't get the practice this week. But I don't
(01:29:43):
know for a team that's had two more impressive wins
than the Colts to beat the Patriots and to go
to Arizona beat the Cardinals, to have a loss like
today in the way that it happened, Man, they went
from gosh, I think the Colts could go to the
Super Bowl right I'm watching pregame shows Indies, one of
those teams with Jonathan Taylor and with Carson Winson, with
(01:30:06):
their defense, they can go to the super Bowl. Well,
guess what they lose next week and they might go
to the playoffs. Hero to zero for Carson Wentz. He
was terrible today and it makes me question everything about
Indie going forward. Well, we'll see if they can sneak
out in. But I will say this, after Week seventeen
of the NFL, I know this. Um, Russell Wilson has
(01:30:27):
played his last home game for the Seattle Seahawks. That's it,
it's done. Um. They beat Detroit. They'll have one game
next week. I think it's on the road against Arizona,
and then he's no longer gonna be a Seahawk because
I'll trade him or move him, or do whatever they
got to do for him, because Seattle is gonna have
to start from scratch and they'll move along. So why
(01:30:48):
would they start from scratch? Well, because they had six
wins this year, but they just went to the playoffs
last year. Yeah, they got money problems, and he's taken
up a lot of that money. Yeah, but I don't
think he really wants to be there. He's given enough
hints that he doesn't want to be there. You know that.
I know that. Well, I don't know that. I mean
(01:31:11):
you can sit there and say you know that, but
in in every opportunity that he has, it seems like
he doubles back on that and changes his mind. All right,
let me give you a scenario then, because I don't
think he's played his last game. Oh yes, yes, yes, yes, okay. Um, anyway,
what if they decide to move on from Pete Carroll?
What if they say, rust you're our franchise, You're our
(01:31:31):
guy that we've given. Um, let's see what's his what's
his total salary? We've given you a hundred and forty
million dollar contract at the time, you're signing bonus of
sixty million and a hundred seven million and guarantees was
the largest ever. If you're not happy with Pete, we're
ready to hire and go in a new direction. And
(01:31:52):
guess what we'll listen to you. You want to go
to New Orleans. They're not gonna give you. Can't. He's
not just signing somewhere. You gotta trade him. You want
to go to the Giants, You're gonna want three Why
the hell would you want to go to the Giants,
New York Yawks, New York Cares. They play in New Jersey.
For goodness, say he wants to play in the United States. Now,
(01:32:14):
oh wait, Seattle by fault. Don't get us in trouble there.
I'm joking. But my point is, why the hell would
you want to go play for the Giants? I mean,
if the want to give because if they want to
give up both their first round picks, great, because the
Giants look so good now with Daniel Jones, Why would
(01:32:35):
you want a quarterback? No, I don't care about Daniel Jones. Arny,
Why the hell would Russell Wilson want to go to
the Giants because he wants to get out of Seattle.
But he gave a list of five teams the first
time around, and now this last time, Ronning is well,
I hope this is my last game. The way he sounded,
you know, I'll tell you this. I heard the two
sound bites last week. The one of Russell was the
(01:32:56):
one of Aaron Rodgers. And now I'm doing a backtake thing.
Give that Aaron Rodgers really wants to stay in Green Bay.
After listens, I'm more sure than ever that he's not
coming back. I mean, Alnie. The Giants weren't even one
of the four teams that he mentioned last year. I
know that, right, but you know that things change, Yeah,
they all right? How about this? Would you would you
(01:33:19):
give up the fifth and eighth pick in the first
round and a first round pick next year to get
Russell Wilson if I'm the Giants, Yeah, that's what it's
gonna take. Um. Sorry, that's we're gonna have to negotiate that.
You're not you. This is one of my biggest frustrations
with you. You think people are just gonna hand over
(01:33:40):
quarterbacks because I'm not giving your five A and everything
else you're asking for. We gotta You're not. He's not
going there. He's not going there. They're gonna want three
first round picks. The Carolina Panthers will give you anything
you want for a quarterback. Right now. They were ready
to break the bank for the Houston Texans to give
him everything they wanted for to Shawn Watson. He wasn't
waging his no trade cause anybody gave up all those
(01:34:02):
picks for the Shawn Watson's nuts. By the way, to
Giants fans, I know this has been a great debate.
Would you rather have from Chicago the eighth pick in
this year's draft, or would have gone ahead and drafted
Justin Fields and our Michael Parsons last year, because Parsons
went one pick after and Justin Fields, who Chicago traded
(01:34:22):
up to get. But hey, hey, you got a first
round pick out of it this year, all right, I've
got one more. I'm not quite as a hot take
you on this one as as you are with the
end of Russell Wilson. But I'll say this, after Week seventeen,
I know this, There's going to be some nervous Nellie's
in the Bay Area next week because I think the
(01:34:44):
Rams are gonna beat the Niners. And I'll tell you what,
You're gonna become huge Atlanta Falcon fans because I worry
any I like Trey Lance a lot, and it took
him some time to get going today, and he looked
good when he did. But I just I don't think
he's I think he needed the full year. And I
know the fun everyone talks about the final week of
Patrick Mahomes rookie season when he had that big game
(01:35:06):
against the Broncos. Well, this is for a playoff spot
for the for the forty Niners, and it's not an
easy one because the Rams have a lot to play for.
They can't arrest anyone. I'm telling you what. I think
the Rams are gonna beat the Niners. I think the Saints,
who started their fourth quarterback of the year last week
against your Dolphins. I think the Saints have a chance
(01:35:28):
already to back into the playoffs next week because I
think the Rams are gonna beat the Niners. I like
the points with San Francisco. That was one of my picks.
What are they getting right now? Five and a half?
I think that's good. I think it could be a
field goal game. I think it'd be a field goal game.
But anything else you want to add, are we good? Now?
We're good? That just you know pretty sure that Russell
(01:35:49):
Wilson is not coming back for he didn't like that
one so well. No, I I just I don't know.
I don't know the how. If you're saying, oh, I
don't want to give up first round picks, well that's
not the reality of it. I I've read some dope's
article on ESPN today. It's like Derek Carr will get
traded to the Seahawks for a second round pick. What
magical world do you live in where that's all the
(01:36:10):
Raiders would get for Derek Carr and that the Here's
the other thing that I like is, is Seattle just
gonna hand Russell Wilson to a team in the NFC. No,
that they're not. And so you're like, oh, I think
Russell Wilson's going to the Saints. You dope. They're not
gonna trade Russell Wilson to the Saints. They're not trading
(01:36:31):
him to a team that isn't in a position to
where they're gonna get better draft picks. If he's going
anywhere on I would actually buy the Giants because you know,
you're getting too high tier picks in two period. It
ain't happening to anyone like the Saints. That's just crazy talking.
And I get it. He could he I think he's
got a no trade clause so he can wave things.
But if he wants out of there, that bad, right.
(01:36:54):
You can send him wherever you want. But we'll see
how plays out. All right, when we come back on
Fox Sports, Ray you let's hit the locker room some
post gain sound the big highlights of the day next
with Arnie and Plank on a Fox Football Sunday Sarni
and Plank on a Fox Football Sunday Twitter is great tonight.
Let me hit some of those before at the postgame
locker room. Uh, Calbert at that, damn bear hits us
(01:37:17):
up and rights man Russell Wilson is burning both ends
of the candle. First, he complains of his contract and
his big contract, of this is the reason they can't
sign players, and now he wants to leave Seattle get
rid of him. Well, I mean, I don't know if
he's done the whole I want to leave Seattle thing.
(01:37:37):
But when when he says I've got four teams I
would accept a trade to last offseason, that's kind of interesting.
Craig writes things remain the same. When Russell Wilson leaves Seattle,
I'll cry. I'll cry my eyes out. Great move for
both Russ and the team, though, will I finally be
crying in two Deret Carr and picks to Seattle? Wow?
(01:38:01):
Maybe maybe I don't think Derek car could go if
the Raiders make the playoffs. The Raiders will make the playoffs.
How about this? I don't think anything's off the table
with Vegas even if they make the playoffs. I don't
think anything is off the table. But that's me, Danny.
What do you think I mean again? I want I
want to see Derek Carr do well. I want to
see the Raiders win. But even if they make the
(01:38:22):
playoffs Attendant seven and get their heads kicked in the
first round, Danny, I wouldn't be surprised with anything. It's
gonna be a big price tag to extend Derek Carr.
But who are you gonna replace him with? Who you're
gonna get that's better in there? Unless Aaron Rodgers comes
to town and you use your eighty million dollars in
cap space to sign Davante Adams, who they're gonna franchise
(01:38:43):
tag apparently, so so that's not even gonna work. So yeah,
I think we're pressing needs fix the old line and
get a speedy wide receiver exactly. Bingo uh. And then
Lou let me, just because you brought this up, Arnie,
that you feel like Russell Wilson is done in Seattle,
Lou writes, one Big Greece, and Russell Wilson would go
to New York? Is his wife? Uh? Sierra? Am I
(01:39:05):
saying that right? Sierra? Thank you? Who wants to start
working again, and what better place than New York will go? Well,
first of all, they're sees things called planes, their wild
inventions where you could fly from Seattle to New York.
And secondly, how well the Seattle to l A. She
can't go to l A. She's not like she's on
(01:39:28):
the middle seat of the Southwest. I'm private jets. It's
an incredible life. Try it sometime. It's amazing. And secondly,
and again, Lou, I get your point. I understand I'm
not trying to be a jerk about it, But how
great is it gonna be when your your husband, the
savior for the Giants, is getting his head kicked in
because there's no talent in New York. It's not a
(01:39:49):
good roster period. Do you know what they have that's
good with the New York Giants right now? Oh wait,
you're a fant adle miss Barkley right which you want
him gone? So he's been disappointing. I just I don't
get it. All right, Um, let's hit some post games, sound,
shall we? One story that you and I haven't talked
(01:40:12):
about a ton here tonight on Fox Sports Radio because
it's it's it's I don't know how to handle it.
Neither did Tom Brady. When he was asked about Antonio Brown,
how disappointed are you, Bruce Arian said, he's no longer. Yeah,
I mean that's um obviously a difficult situation. And you know,
I think we all want you know, him to to
(01:40:32):
you know, just I think everybody should find, you know,
hopefully do what they can to help him in ways
that you know he really needs it. And you know,
we all love him, we care about him deeply. You know,
we want to see him be at his best and
you know, unfortunately won't be with our team, but we
have a lot of friendships that that will last. And again,
I think the most important thing about football of the
relationships with their your friends and your teammates, and they
(01:40:53):
go beyond the field. And I think everyone should should
be very compassionate and empathetic towards um some very difficult
things that are happening. Tom Brady's gotta be pissed, right,
I mean, he's got to be hot because he laid
everything on the line for Antonio Brown New England and
in Tampa, brought him in his home and he pulls
that is he making it sound like it's a mental
(01:41:14):
health case. It seemed like he was you know, and
I told you earlier and iur number one, I have
more more sympathy. Um, Like, you know, you see these
videos of women they call Karen when they're on a
plane or in a market, yelling at other people to
put the mask on. All I don't want to put
my mask on because you know I I have more
sympathy for that because obviously what we've been going through
(01:41:34):
the last couple of years and the COVID and the
mental health and some people have just been pushed over
the edge. I don't think this was the case with
Antonio Brown. I really don't understand what was going through
his mind. But he was just playing a football game,
and I don't think it. You know, I can't be
a hundred percent sure. I look, I wish him the best.
At first, I was really hissed off and like, get
(01:41:55):
out of you, your jerk, who needs you? But um,
you know, hey, I'm not a Tampa fan, so I
don't think he's ever going to play in the NFL again.
I do think that though, yeah, me neither. Here's Bruce arians.
We want to talk about that last drive, but I
have to start with can you tell us what happened
to Antonio Brown? Did he quit? I've never seen a
guy leave a field like that, and is this the
(01:42:16):
last strike for him? He is no longer a book.
All right, that's the end of the story. Let's talk
about the guys that were not doing one the game? Now,
Can I say this? That's a B S boo from
arians getting at the reporter or giving that answer. No, no,
no not. You're the guy that came out and a
couple of weeks ago. I and I have no problem
with it when he's like, we want to win games,
(01:42:38):
so Antonio Brown is gonna be here. We don't care
about I'm paraphrasing here. We don't care about the Vacks
card thing. We don't care about this. I mean they
went out of their way to basically say, hey, he's here.
And what I even had the cut we played last
week where he's been a model citizen and he's done things.
So when you stand up for someone like that, I
(01:42:59):
feel like, and maybe this is me being out of
my mind, but I feel like you are everyone a
little bit more than just well, he's not a buck.
Let's move on and talk about the game. I just
and in fact, I think Bruce arians realized that because
he picked up the phone called Jay Glazer and gave
him the scoop with everything that was going on after
the game. I mean, I understand you don't want to
(01:43:19):
say anything, but Arnie, I feel like in that instance,
you have to. Yeah, he's got to speak up a
little bit more. And you're right from happing last week
where he was praising Antonio Brown. Has there been any
Twitter reports or TikTok or anything like that that an
terrier Brown has made a statement or No, nothing's been
going on. He posted like a picture of himself or something,
(01:43:42):
or well, he posted a picture of himself just just
waiting for a ride. Yeah, and then he he posted
one a little bit later too, So I don't I
don't know what's No, No, he was he wasn't hitch hiking.
Apparently that was a car service. But it was one
of the weirdest things because I was on red Zone.
Actually I was on the Colts Raiders game, and all
(01:44:03):
of a sudden I got a text from someone that said,
did you see Antonio Brown loses son on red Zone?
When they did that? Yeah? Well, and I was like,
lose his mind? What do you mean, and then that's
when Twitter blew up with a video from Jets fans.
I think at my Sports Update was the first place
I saw that tweeted it. But just you know, an
embarrassing situation for everyone involved. And we'll see where he
(01:44:23):
ends up next. All right, more postgame audio. There's our
Antonio Brown segment for tonight, and here's our guy one
final time, Steve just Sacre. What's going on, Steve? Well?
Next Sunday night, the NFL regular season will end with
Chargers at Raiders. Winner goes to the playoffs. By the way,
if it finishes in a tie, the Chargers would clinch.
They would finish undefeated this year, head to head with
(01:44:44):
the Raiders having already beaten them at home in that
Monday night game. But no, the Chargers cannot advance with
a loss in any scenario. You mentioned it uh earlier
that the Raiders could maybe still sneak in if two
and fourteen Jacksonville upsets Indie or Elier that day. Let's
see how realistic that is. Las Vegas was a winner
(01:45:04):
today at Indie twenty on the last second field goal,
So the Raiders have won three straight since losing five
of six. Indie missed a chance to clinch a playoff spot,
but can still do so next Sunday. And by the way,
their game against Jacksonville one pm Eastern time. The Charger
win was thirty four thirteen against Denver. New Orleans is
still alive after beating Carolina eighteen to ten. The Saints
(01:45:26):
have an eight and eight record. They're still alive, and
they finished at Atlanta next Sunday. That is a late
afternoon game because the Saints can clinch a playoff spot
with a win and a San Francisco loss at the Rams,
So the NFL is having both games start at the
same time. Saints on the road, Niners on the road.
They're both in the late afternoon slot. You mentioned Seattle
(01:45:47):
dk Metcalf three touchdowns in the fifty one twenty nine
win over Detroit's Rashad Penny a hundred seventy yards rushing,
two touchdowns. San Francisco's win was twenty three to seven
against Houston. Yes, the Niners finished at the Rams next
week today Elijah Mitchell a hundred nineteen yards rushing. We
know Dallas on Saturday night will be playing at Philadelphia,
(01:46:08):
and each team is going to the playoffs. Philly clinched
a playoff spot tonight when Minnesota lost. The Vikings are eliminated.
Their seven and nine. Quarterback Kirk Cousins was out tonight
after he tested positive, and the Vikings offense had eleven
drives eleven first downs at green Bay. Packers had twenty
nine first downs in this win, thirteen the final in
ten degree weather. Green Bay's next meaningful game in about
(01:46:30):
three weeks. Because the win tonight clinches the number one
seed in the NFC playoffs for the Packers Aaron Rodgers
two touchdown passes. Green Bay not only is one five
in a row, they're up to thirteen and three overall.
They finished as the lone undefeated home team this year,
eight and oh at home. Arizona went eight and one
on the road. They got the win at Dallas twenty
five to twenty two. It was Cincinnati clinching the a
(01:46:53):
f C North title beating Kansas City and a comeback
thirty thirty one. Next Saturday, it will be k C
at Denver. By the way we say it, every year,
it's happened again. A team that finished last in its
division last season the very next year finishes first in
the same division. It hasn't happened every year, but almost
every year for the last couple of decades in the NFL.
(01:47:14):
It's just another part of the marketing genius that makes
this by far the most popular sport in this country.
You actually do have a chance. The Cincinnati Bengals also
could win a tiebreaker for the three seed based on
their good conference record. Jamaar Chase three touchdowns, a monster
eleven catch, two hundred sixty six yard game. Tennessee clinched
(01:47:36):
the a f C South beat Miami thirty four three,
eliminating the Dolphins Tennessee's eleven and five, and can earn
the number one seed in the a f C with
a win next week against Houston or with a Kansas
City loss. They've already beaten Kansas City head to head
and Tennessee seven and two at home and got home
game maybe games coming up in the postseason. Buffalo clinched
a playoff berth beat Atlanta twenty nine to fifteen. Buffalo
(01:47:59):
also the division tiebreaker against New England. Patriots did at
least clinch a playoff spot today with the fifty to
ten win against Jacksonville, which went win loss on the
road this season and in fact, Jacksonville has lost seventeen
straight on the road. The Rams have won five straight.
Twenty nineteen, the final at Baltimore at what a disaster
the Ravens have become five straight losses. Tons of close
(01:48:22):
games in there, almost eliminated. Now the Ravens are down
to eight and eight. Lamar Jackson was out again, Tyler
Huntley was sacked five times, so Matthew Stafford throws three
interceptions and they still beat the Ravens. Philadelphia won its
fourth straight of victory at Washington. Tampa Bay edged the Jets.
Chicago over the Giants. Three Giants have lost five in
(01:48:44):
a row on the road. The Giants went one and eight.
Tomorrow night, Cleveland, which is eliminated, plays at Pittsburgh Steelers
almost eliminated by the way. Brown's running back Kareem Hunt
with a bad ankle called questionable for Monday night. Temperature
will be in the upper twenties for that game. The
late end a contest went to the Lakers over Minnesota
one o eight, one oh three, close, even though Carl
(01:49:05):
Anthony Towns and de Angela Russell of Minnesota were still
out due to health protocols. Lakers are up to nineteen
and nineteen. Boston got an overtime win against Orlando, Jalen
Brown fifty points. College hoops Ohio State one in overtime
at Nebraska. And we do actually have a college football
game on Tuesday l s U Kansas State and then
the national title games a week from Monday, January tenth, Indianapolis,
(01:49:29):
Alabama against Georgia. Next season's title game will be at
the Ram Stadium where this season Super Bowl will be
back to you do you get to go to Vegas
on Sunday night, Steve or No? I have considered that
the entire season because it could be a weekend, you know,
and then they're actually keeping it, you know, on the Sunday.
They didn't move it a different day. Can imagine the
people who thought with hotels they didn't have you know
(01:49:52):
what if it had been moved to a Saturday. People
on Twitter, if I should give you the night off
and whatever? You can say that already because no, I
he concluded a couple of months ago, I'll just I'll
just be here, and they said, no, you can't have
the night. No I didn't ask I would have believed me.
I was ready to ask and I would have said no, well,
and then we would see for the thousandth time the
amount of power you wield, I mean the whole way.
(01:50:15):
But it is nil. I mean I hate to do
that to Arnie, but wow, I mean literally you have
zero power. But you know, keep keep the delusional weights going.
I'm fine with it, all right, Um, who do you
want to hear from? I got a lot of audio
post game, For instance, do you realize another one of
Arnie's brilliant picks? You said the worst team in the
(01:50:36):
NFL might be the Eagles this year. Yeah, that was
a bad one. Yeah, they're they're going to the playoffs.
Here's Nick Sirianni talking about the way this team bounced
back after a two and five stars recovering from the
two and five to where we are now, isn't you
know it kind of prepared us? You know, it prepares
you for games like this where you're in a hole
and you gotta you gotta chip away at it. And
(01:50:56):
that's what our guys did today. Yeah, and unbelievable what
they've done turned it around. I mean, absolutely incredible. Exactly.
It helps that no one's really run away with those
latter wild cards on or anything, but Jalen Hurts and
this team they bought in. We just bought into who
we are, bought into what we could be. Trusted in
the grind and approaching every day, um, the way we
(01:51:17):
do for a game like this, to be able to
presevere and so straight great, straight, great, straight tough moments
in the football game. We found a way to to
to win the day. I could be more proud of
this team. Love that guy. Love the guy. Now. Did
you happen to see the video of the Eagles fans
and the railing collapsing while Jalen Hurts was walking out
a little bit? Yes? I did. Yes, Here's what Jalen
(01:51:39):
said about that. I'm just happy everybody's safe from Happy
everybody's safe from it. Um as crazy. That's crazy stuff
right there. That's a real dangerous situation, and I'm just
so happy everybody bounced back from it to seem like
passion out of Hues fans. I love it. By the way,
there was a guy in full uniform. Did you see that?
There was like a fan we went full helmet jersey.
(01:52:01):
I think he even had some pads on underneath. What
what's the I mean, We're not going full jersey to games, right,
we're just wearing a team shirt. He had the eye
black on one eye, I think. But by the way,
I want you to know something. The Philadelphi Eagles the
worst strength of victory of all the teams point three
forty four. So let that that the uh, you know, misled.
(01:52:24):
They're not good. Not good. Um. A couple of other
quick bites and we'll get to Arnie's picks. You know,
I was watching the final drive for Cincinnati. They should
have been handed inn L because they couldn't get in
from the one yard line like five times. Oh my god.
Now there was a minute left when they went for
it on fourth down the first time, and then there
was double penalties, so they go forward again. Yes, it
(01:52:50):
was I'm watching. They got and then they got the flag,
and then they got the and then they had to
bringing the backup. Quarterback was Borrow, got hurt, took a knee,
let the clock run down. It was crazy, weird is
to finish I think I've ever seen. But Joe Burrow
and the Bengals head of the playoffs in the preseason,
and we were talking about playoffs, and I said, go
with the playoffs and the easiest way to do that
(01:53:11):
is to win the division. Everyone kind of laughed at
us a little bit, but you know, we knew the
kind of team we had, the kind of guys in
the locker room that we had, and we knew we
could go and do it. And then this was fantastic
from Burrows down there somewhere. I'm gonna throw it up
to him. He's gonna make a play. Isn't it a
wild to think about the preseason with Jamar Chase. He
couldn't catch the damn football, remember that, And we were
(01:53:32):
joking about how he brought up that there's no white
lions on the football in the NFL like there is
in college. And now he was, oh, it was huge.
Now you might win the Rookie of the Year and
the Bengals could end up in the super Bowl. But
solid finish to the season for the Cincinnati Bengals. All right,
when we come back, more postgame audio and what you
all came for, parties picks to wrap it up on
(01:53:54):
Fox Sports Radio, Man thankfully Grumpy Arty can go the
bed here in a little wow anyway, fun show tonight.
Great job by Alex tie Shirt sitting in for Bobo
this evening. Always amazing job by Danny g Raiders winning
their ind It's incredible to see the Sager killing it
(01:54:15):
on the updates, and the millions and millions of editors
behind the scenes cutting up audio, giving us great doozies
like this, look at mom next week. Not particularly Mike,
Why don't you him every day? Now? I understand the
(01:54:39):
Vikings aren't a team that are battling for the playoffs
and they're out, and also get it, and Mike Zimmer
is probably done. But Harnie, that's like the coldest thing
I've ever heard of coach say. It's like, hey, you
wanna try to maybe give a look next week? No, No,
I've seen him in practice. Basically, Mike Zimmer just said
kill him on songs. I see him in practice. He's
(01:55:00):
so so I'm not gonna put him in pretty much.
I told you to followed up, why does he suck?
That would have been a great follow up. Is he
really that bad? Exactly? Well, Artie's picks are that bad,
and here they are what you all came for tonight,
taking away, taking give me a little music, put me
in the mood. Let's start with tomorrow's game on the
Monday night football game with the Pittsburgh Steels are two
(01:55:21):
board favorite against Cleveland. How could you not bet Pittsburgh
and this one lay in the two. That's like stealing. Really, Uh,
Cleveland's eliminated Pittsburgh's own so much on the line, this
one stealing. Give me Pittsburgh minus two in this one.
Let's go to Saturday's games. I'm all over Kansas City
minus tend against Denver on the road. It could be
(01:55:43):
tough that I mean to go on the road and
lay that many, but Kansas City's offense is gonna be
upset after he's scoring three points in the second half again,
sincin that he I'm gonna take Kansas City. I'll lay
the lumber and this one, and I'm on Philadelphia plus
the two and a half against Dallas, um Dallas. Yeah, look,
(01:56:04):
let me tell you something. All due respect to them,
and I think they can maybe make some noise in
the playoffs. Philadelphia has just been cruising and now I'm
gonna get two and half points. I'll take it. It's
a final Chargers thirty four Raiders. Chargers go on a
(01:56:27):
last second field goal, a fifty two yarder to win
it and the Chargers go to the playoffs, and then
you're miserable on the air next Sunday. Well, I'll be
happy if it's that tight. I won't. I mean, I'll
be heartbroken for a little bit, but you'll be happy
if it's that tight. Yeah, of course I'm not that.
(01:56:50):
I'm not a dope like you. And it's like, oh,
if we don't win the Super Bowl, we suck. Hey man,
their coach got candid season because he's a racist. We
had our best receiver make the most horrific decision in
the history of mankind. I don't think I'm gonna chastise
a team for losing a tight game if they don't
make the playoffs. Graduations on a fantastic year there in
(01:57:12):
your mind, it wouldn't be fantastic, it would be incredible.
In the adversity they overcame and give me San Francisco
plus the five and a half against the Rams. There
you have my picks. Doing the mission please no longer
strictly for entertainment purposes only. Um So that means you're
betting those next week to Oh absolutely, look at you
and I tell, I tell you, Georgia, you get that
(01:57:33):
next week. So you'll be good to go to talk about.
I do have Georgia winning that game though, a good call.
I think they will. The injuries to Alabama, I think
you're gonna be tough to overcome. But um, this will
be the fifth time that Kirby Smart has squared off
against Nick Saban. He's going four in his previous four.
The only assistant former Nick Saban assistant to beat him was,
(01:57:57):
of course, Jimbo Fisher, and he did it in its
fifth match up with him. That's all I've got for
you and why you should pick Georgia, all right. Um.
A couple of other post game audio notes from today.
Here's your boy, Brian Flores talking about how well I
mean again, you're not one to ever rub it in
when you're when my team doesn't do well, So I'm
(01:58:17):
not one to rub it in whenever the Dolphins are
out out of the player. You know, I don't have
the performance we're looking for. Your dispointed um, But you
know this is this group. You know they're gonna stick together,
support one another. And all right, he put me to sleep.
Let's get a couple of other ones here. Aaron Rodgers
after the game. Beautiful, Oh my gosh. Aaron Rodgers on
(01:58:40):
the excitement of his injury healing. We were trying to
get to that six to eight week window without any
major setbacks. We had a couple along the way, but
this was another good week for me. And it was
a big week because well, I mean, fans have been
back all year along with Holy Smokes. It was hopping
tonight and Lambeau to last year. Having a crowd definitely
(01:59:02):
makes a difference. And you know, last year in the playoffs,
we obviously had paired down crowds because of protocols. So
it's nice to have a full crowd. It's nice to
have a green Bay weather game. It's nice for you.
Maybe finally, Arnie, how about Andy Reid holding its tongue.
(01:59:22):
When it came to the officials, Cincinnati did a heck
of a job. But when when you have the lead,
you want to keep the lead. So we stalled the
first couple of series and the penalties that's what got us.
And there there were way too many penalties. Nine penalties,
including a touchdown on a kickoff return, fourth down play
or a defense at a nice job of stopping him
(01:59:43):
on the one foot line. I'd like to comment on
each one, but I don't want to be be fine?
Is there all right? Less than a minute? Is there
any chance we have an opening tomorrow in the NFL,
Because I think, Arnie, when we wake up, the Vikings
are gonna punt. Mike Zimmer, I think that's what's going
(02:00:03):
to happen to I don't know if it's gonna happen
tomorrow or yeah, I guess Monday over Tuesday. No reason.
The way. The extra day I think that's gonna happen
also starts your coaching search early, knowing that a handful
of teams haven't started there as yet. It's gonna be
a fascinating week in the NFL. Have a great week, Arnie.
We'll be back next Sunday night. Big Ben Mallory is
back and he's next on Fox Sports Radio.
