Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. What a title? Are
you ready? Spread of Darkness, the Prince of Darkness, The
Prints of Darkness is in the house of Jonas Knocks.
The story is Jonas Knocks cheap. This well be God.
Like I said, Jonas Knocks is coming through your speakers

(00:22):
like the right cross from a boxer that you've never
heard of. What's going on here and now, live from
the Fox Sports Radio studios. Here's Jonas Knocks. You're really
going through with this hunt Cheese. You know, sometimes it's

(00:53):
always best to just trust your gut. You can have sources,
you can have all the things you want to go
along with being an NFL insider. At the end of
the day, if you don't trust your gut, what the
hell do you got? We'll get into all that for
you here coming up in just a couple of moments
from now, Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. You can hang
out with us. Is always on the I Heart Radio app.

(01:14):
You can find us on hundreds of Fox Sports Radio
affiliates and wherever you are making us a part of
your Saturday morning. We appreciate you doing so. We're gonna
take you all the way up until noon Eastern time,
nine am Pacific. Here on FS are with the usual
shenanigans and grab ass, but we must start here with um,
just something that felt odd from the get go, right,

(01:37):
And sometimes all you gotta do is trust your gut.
If something feels a little fishy, if if something seems
a little bit off, it's okay to just acknowledge that
from the get go. It's okay to just acknowledge we
got a little bit of an issue here. It doesn't
make a whole hell of a lot of sense with
all the stories that are going on in the NFL

(01:58):
and some of the scandal, and we're going to get
into all of that, whether it's the bribery, the impact
on the gambling community, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, the the the
Flores stuff, the I mean, all the other layers that
we're gonna get into that, and we're going to spend
a lot of time on that, and let's be honest,
we're probably gonna piss a lot of people off during
the course of this show because I've got some opinions,

(02:20):
but the one that I think we can all agree
on as we try and unite here a little over
a week away from Super Bowl fifty six. The one
that we can all agree on that just felt a
little strange from the get go is the Jim Harbaugh
need to go back to the NFL. Didn't that just

(02:42):
kind of feel a little bit off. It just felt
it just felt weird, like all of a sudden, out
of nowhere, the Minnesota Vikings were a team that Jim
Harbaugh wanted to go coach. And that's not a knock
on the Minnesota Vikings. Let's be truthful here. If Aaron
Rodgers leaves the NFC North, and the feeling is by
a lot of people that Aaron Rodgers is going to
leave the NFC North, Minnesota is the best team in

(03:04):
the division. I mean you you can try and dispute
it and say, man, I don't know, but you know
the Bears stopped. Minnesota is the best team in the division.
I like Dan Campbell, I like Detroit what they're doing,
but there's still a couple of years away. Even if
they get to where they're aiming to go. Minnesota is
the best team in the division. Talented team. Kirk Cousins

(03:27):
much better than a lot of people give him credit for.
Dalvin Cook one of the best backs in the league,
Justin Jefferson one of the best wide receivers in the league.
Like there's talent there. Minnesota is the best team in
the division if Aaron Rodgers leaves. But the Jim Harbaugh
to the Viking stuff just seemed odd from the get go.
It just seemed off. And it was almost like you

(03:49):
had a guy who was trying to bluff you in
a game of Texas hold him and didn't realize that
his cards were facing the other way, you know what
I mean, Like he's trying he's trying to convince you. Hey,
so listen, man, I'm I'm going hard here, all right,
I'm serious about this. Like you better you better be careful.
I'm gonna take your entire pot. And it's like, dude,

(04:11):
like I can see you've got a to seven off suit.
Who you kidding? You got a two of spades and
a seven of hearts and they're facing the wrong way.
Figure it out. Who are you kidding? And it was like,
all of a sudden, Jim Harbaugh wanted to go back
to the NFL. And the rumors have been out there

(04:32):
and the conversation has been out there. Is he ever
thinking about going back is Jim Harbaugh looking to get
back into the league, so on and so forth, and
it's like, well, yeah, I'm sure he does. I'm sure
he wants to go back, but doesn't it have to
also make sense On the other side, I mean, NFL
teams have nothing but respect for Jim Harbaugh, but they

(04:53):
also acknowledge Jim Harbaugh is a little bit of a problem.
He runs hot, and when you on hot all the time,
you burn out. And maybe it's not you, but it's
the people around me. They get burnt out. It happened
at every stop of the way, whether it was San Diego, Stanford,
the forty Niners, some people in Michigan that are already

(05:16):
kind of worn out by it, and like, okay, I
mean he had a ton of success, but he runs hot,
and so you're looking at this situation goes so so
wait a second, So he's all of a sudden, they
finally beat Ohio State and these jobs that he's been
connected to for a while now, whether it was the

(05:38):
Raiders because he had a past with and he started
his coaching career with, or the Bears who drafted him, well,
they already filled their head coaching vacancies and it's not
going that way. But all of a sudden, the Vikings
come out of nowhere like that, that's the team, that's
the organization, that makes sense. It just seems strange. And

(05:58):
so he goes to the to this interview with the Vikings.
We're hearing all this stuff about Man, it's a slam dunk. Uh.
This is a foregone conclusion. I mean, he's just going
through the motions and then he's gonna get the job
in the Minnesota Vikings are gonna have a head coach,
and Jim Harbaugh is back. Jim Harbaugh is back in
the NFL. Only to find out, Yeah, so that might
have been a one way affair. Somebody might have been

(06:22):
really infatuated with something, but it was Jim Harbaugh infatuated
with the Vikings and not so much the other way around.
So you're looking at it going, so what happened? Now
there's the given reason by Jim Harbaugh's camp, which is, well,
you know, um, there was something and this according to

(06:43):
UH two sources on this UH, Jim Harbaugh told the
AP UH that you know, he he's gonna return to UH,
to Michigan. He's all enthusiastic about it, and he keep
asking the question, Okay, but what happened with you wanting
to go to the Vikings? And then you get this
report out, According to Mitch Album of the Detroit Free Press,

(07:05):
who says that Harbaugh showed up there and all of
a sudden got a sinking feeling that the Minnesota Vikings
weren't as into him as every as he was into them.
He he looked at it and said, you know, I
I realized how close I was to the Super Bowls
and NFL jobs came open, I was contacted by the Vikings.
I wanted to explore it. I went in thinking I'm

(07:27):
gonna have, you know, a hundred percent conviction in this
and and and they were gonna have a hundred percent
conviction of me, and it just didn't happen. So, you
know what, Now I'm gonna go back to Michigan, and
I've kicked the tires on it, and I've already told
Michigan from the get go, don't worry about it. This
is the one time thing I'm never going back, all right.
So basically, in a matter of an off season, Jim

(07:47):
Harbaugh went from finally beating Ohio State a real candidate
to go back to the League two. Now Michigan looks
at him and goes, okay, we'll take get back. It
just felt weird. The whole thing was odd, the way
it went down, the structure of it, the story, the idea.

(08:09):
It just felt odd. And now you gotta look at
it and go, if you're Michigan, are you not kind
of looking around at each other going what the hell
was that? What was he? What was the plan? What
was he doing? Are you going or not going? And
it was almost as if Michigan didn't bluff, like Jim

(08:31):
Harbaugh wanted everybody to believe that he was a real threat,
that multiple teams were interested in him, and all of
a sudden it came down to and he was like, Okay,
I mean the Vikings, I guess I have a relationship
with a dopha mensa, the GM uh, this might make
some sense. Let me go in and talk with the
Vikings about it. And the Vikings are like, I mean,
we'll do an interview, but yeah, dude, I mean we
got other candidates. You know, we got Kevin O'Connell, we

(08:55):
got other guys that have been in here. I mean,
we'll do the interview. But it's not like we're we're
sitting here going all right, well here a dozen roses
and and some lot of scratchers and a chocolate cake,
please come date us. Didn't happen that way. The whole
thing felt odd. And so you don't need sourcing on this.
You don't need anybody to tell you what was going
on behind the scenes. If it didn't make sense, it

(09:17):
didn't make sense. And this one didn't make sense. And
now I just wonder what the hell does the future
look like in Michigan for Jim Harbaugh, Because, let's be
truthful about it, they beat Ohio State last year. I
think we can all agree part of the reason why
Harbaugh was kicking the tires on some of these NFL jobs,

(09:37):
and some of the stories sprouted up, and we talked
about it on this show. I said, look, if there
was ever a time for a guy to leave and
to want to go back to the NFL, A view
was interested. This is the time. His stock was never
gonna be higher. But after all the celebration and all
the jumping for joy and that fantastic scene in ann

(09:59):
Arbor that we got to see play out on Fox,
and when Michigan finally gets over the hump and they
go to the College Football Playoff. We can all acknowledge
next year, it wouldn't be the biggest surprise in the
world if Ohio State beats him by three touchdowns, wouldn't
be the biggest surprise in the world. In fact, I
think a lot of people probably expect that. So now

(10:19):
you went from having all the leverage in the world,
having this golden opportunity to be a real threat to
jump to the league, and maybe Michigan comes back and
they're they're they're you know, I'm rolling out the red
carpet and saying, listen, man, whatever we can do, please
come back. We don't want to lose you too. Okay, fine,
go flirt to what else is out there. He goes there.

(10:40):
They're not as into him as he's into them. And
now he's gonna crawl back to Michigan and be like,
no, no no, no, no, I'm here, I'm into this. And
if you're Michigan and you're the Michigan Athletic Department, you
gotta be looking around going uh okay, a little strange,
but sure, come on down. The whole thing was bizarre.
The whole thing weird. And now you look at it

(11:03):
and go, I guess we're just gonna roll back with
Jim Harba next year, and Minnesota's looking at him going, yeah, man,
we just wanted to do an interview. I don't know
what you were expecting here. It just seems strange. Sometimes,
just trust your gut. You don't need the sourcing. You
don't need Adam Schefter, you don't need any of these
big time names out there. They're gonna cover and break

(11:23):
stories in the league. If it didn't make sense, it
didn't make sense. And Harbus telling the A D listen
and don't worry about interviews. It's it's nothing you need
to worry about moving forward. Well, yeah, you may not
need to worry about that moving forward because maybe nobody's
interested in interviewing you. Like. That's how weird this whole
setup was. That's how weird. The whole situation was. Jonas Knox,

(11:44):
Fox Sports Radio, get me on Twitter at the Jonas
Knox at the Jonas Knox on Twitter. We're gonna hang
out with you here all the way up until noon
Eastern time, nine am Pacific. We're gonna have the usuals
here while Iowa Sam We've got Isaac Loan Krown, We've
got Ryan Burr, Shinger, We've got you. It's a two
hour extravaganza here on Fox Sports Radio on a Saturday,

(12:04):
a little over a week away from Super Bowl fifty six.
And that you can get me on Twitter at the
Jonas Knocks at the Jonas Knocks on Twitter. All right.
Coming up next, there is an element of a story
in the NFL that could have impacts and ramifications on
the entire league for years to come. We'll tell you
what that is right here on fs ARE Jonas Knocks

(12:25):
Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with us as
always on the I Heart Radio app. Coming up a
little over we'll call it a little over ten minutes
from now here on fs ARE. There is there is
somebody as we get ready for Super Bowl fifty six,
and I kind of feel bad for I mean, I
really do. I feel bad for this group of individuals. Uh.

(12:46):
They're often picked on, mocked, ridiculed, made fun of constantly.
Uh and then they get this thrown in their lap.
We will discuss that here on Fox Sports Radio. So
the the Brian Flores debacle, and it's it's a debacle
on multiple levels, because the more that this thing goes on,

(13:07):
the more you realize that Brian Flores might have made
a little bit of a mistake. Not that there aren't serious, um,
you know, racial issues in the NFL when it comes
to hiring practices, or that the Rooney rule has been
a sham and I've said that for a while. It
just let's just call what it is. A lot of
organizations already know who they want. Uh, they're just dotting

(13:27):
eyes and crossing tees and and thinking everybody is, you know,
totally shocked. I think organizations know there are two or
three guys they're really really interested in, and then there's
some other guys that they'll bring into interview just because
it's like I guess. And then sometimes you'll have a
surprise candidate who interviews for a job and next thing

(13:49):
you know that they just they blow you away with
the interview and then you go, well, I I don't
want to let this guy leave. Whether it was the
Steelers with Mike Tomlin who came in, there wasn't a
lot of expectation that he was going to be a
rock star head coach or a rock star interview and
then he gets in there and they were blown away
by the interview, and they said, well, we don't want
to let him leave. And you see what happens. Mike
Tomlin is gonna be a Hall of Fame coach. I mean,

(14:11):
he's got a Super Bowl, he was in another one.
At the end of this whole thing. I think Mike
Tomlin's probably going to the Hall of Fame. He is.
It's just that's what's what we're looking at. Sean McVeigh
with the Rams, I mean, Sean McVeigh. I can remember
being out here in l A when Sean McVeigh was
interviewing for the job and people were surprised. I remember

(14:32):
hearing conversations like, yes, so this guy Sean McVeigh who
was with Washington, they're bringing him in for another interview.
Nobody expected that he was going to be the guy.
Nobody expected there, Like if if there were betting odds
on the RAMS next head coach, Sean McVeigh was not
the favorite. Nobody expected Sean McVeigh to come in and
and just and give that sort of a performance in

(14:53):
the interview and be that well thought of that they
were going to bring him back because they didn't want
to lose him, and you see what happens. I mean,
if Sean McVeigh wins this Super Bowl, you can argue,
depending on how much longer he coaches, Sean McVeigh might
be a Hall of Fame coach. So sometimes these guys
walk in, you're not expecting them to blow you away
with the interview, and you see what happens. They end

(15:15):
up doing so, and they become the next head coach
for X amount of years and they move on and
they go forward. So you see the situation. You see
how it all plays out. Isaac Loancrown with us here, Isaac,
what's happening? I just wanted to chime in about this
whole Sean McVeigh thing. So this is a true story. Uh,
they have selected Sean McVeigh as the next head coach,

(15:36):
but they haven't announce leaked it yet. So Sean McVeigh
and the Rams brain trust are at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant
in Hollywood. Now this is the you know, a list
restaurant in Hollywood. Wolfgang Puck himself comes up to the table,
recognizing the Rams brain trust less Snead and Kevin dem

(15:59):
Off and Sean McVeigh sitting there and wolf Gang Puck
himself starts talking their ears off. Who's the next head
coach going to be? Is it gonna be this guy,
is gonna be this guy? Who who's And Sean McVeigh
is just sitting there and wolf Gang Puck has no
idea because, like you said, he was so anonymous that
the new head coach is sitting right there. True story,
but yeah, nobody knew. Like he came in, he did

(16:21):
an interview, and I remember the surprise was, yeah, apparently
Sean McVeigh is getting a second interview, was like, okay,
you must have done really well in the first one.
The next thing you know, he's head coach. It was
just the way this whole thing is done. You get
surprised by guys all the time, and Sean McVeigh was
a big surprise. So you see all like the the
Brian Flores stuff. When it comes to the interview process

(16:43):
and how that whole thing played out, what whatever the
I mean the New York Giants who came out and
pushed back not only with hey man like not, we
have an itinerary here of how this whole thing broke down. Um,
the Denver Broncos come out It's like Sean, It's like,
you know, Brian Flores comes out and says, well, you know,

(17:05):
John Elway was they were drunk when they were doing
the interview and they were hungover from the night before.
It's like, dude, where's your proof? Like did you did
you take a breathalyzer with you and keep it in
an envelope for years? What are you gonna do? You're
gonna call up liquor stores around the Denver area and say, Hey,
did you see a guy about six three six four,

(17:26):
a couple of Super Bowl rings walk in here? Uh?
You know, had a you know, a Stanford had on
maybe a New York Yankee shirt. Uh, you know, he
was drafted by the Baltimore Colts originally but didn't want
to play there, and he bought like a bottle of
Jack Daniels and maybe a pack of chew Did you
see him walk in here the night before? Because I
really need your help on this, because I'd like to
file a complaint with the league, Like what what are

(17:47):
you doing? Like there's no proof? And so John Elway
comes out and says, dude, what what what is this?
The New York Giants come out and say what is this,
And I get Bill Belichick confus used Brian's in his phone.
I get it. I get a hold of that. Like,
who hasn't confused somebody in their phone before? All right,

(18:09):
who hasn't been This is a true story. I can
remember filling in for Doug Gottlieb on Fox Sports Radio
and Isaiah Thomas was the guest. And we weren't originally
planned to be the fill ins at that point for
Doug Gottlieb. We weren't. We weren't Like Doug was supposed
to work and then something came up last minute. He
got sick. I forget what the reason was, but he

(18:30):
couldn't do the show, and so they already had guests booked.
Isaiah Thomas comes on the air and goes, oh, well
that's a bummer. I thought I was gonna be talking
to Doug all the air and I just said to him, yeah,
well we thought we were gonna talk to Joe Dumar.
So we're even like it's like, what are you gonna do?
Like people get upset, they confuse things like it happens.

(18:53):
There's nothing you could do. So so this whole you know,
a Belichick confus you know, confused, Brian's in his phone,
so on and so forth. All of that that that
is a discussion that we're going to have for years
and years because the hiring practices in the NFL are flawed.
Everybody understands that. Everybody recognizes that. But the aspect of
the Brian of the Brian Flores conversation that I think

(19:16):
is the most damning if it turns out to be true,
is the one hundred thousand dollar offer of bribery by
the Dolphins and Stephen Ross, because it all of a
sudden impacts the league in a way that they don't
want any part of. You can set up a Rooney rule,

(19:37):
you can set up all these fair hiring practices, You
could do all of that that you want. But if
people start to look at the NFL and go, this
is professional wrestling, we got an issue. There's a problem.
And so when you come out and say that an
owner was offering you a hundred thousand dollars to lose
games in a season, now were impacting not only fans,

(20:02):
but you're impacting the gambling aspect of things, and you're
impacting the integrity of the NFL, the race stuff, the
you know, the minority candidates and hirings. That is going
to take a while to People have got to sort
that out, and they've got to figure out a way
that you can start making things fair and and and
start to target that and look at that all you want.

(20:23):
But if all of a sudden we look back and
we go, oh see, you mean that season where fans
were paying a fortune to go to games where people
were gambling a fortune because they thought everything was on
the up and up. You mean to tell us that
was all a sham. It's the equivalent of professional wrestling.
And let me tell you something. I know a thing

(20:43):
or two about the subject because I gambled on professional
wrestling last weekend. Alright, I bet on the Royal Rumble.
All right, now, I one, all right? I had brock
Lesner and Rhonda Rousing in the Royal Rumble. Do I
know anything about the w w E? Not really, But
you know what it was either that or horse racing
in Dubai. All right, one of the two. What am
I gonna do? Wait a round for conference championship Sunday

(21:06):
or start firing off bets in the Royal Rumble. That's
the way this thing works, all right? You get a
little bit bored, all right, you don't want to watch
some crumby television show. Your wife sit in two. So
you say, you know what, I'm gonna gamble on professional wrestling.
That says works. That's how this goes. And so you've
got the league looking at this going oh boy. Um.
So we've got an owner, uh, and we've got a

(21:29):
coach that are talking about you know what we are
what we are doing here when it comes to the
fairness and integrity games. So now Roger Goodell just sent
this out a few minutes ago. This, according to Tom Pella,
sero uh he is sending he sent this out to
all NFL teams saying that the league is retaining outside

(21:50):
experts to help reevaluate its d e I policies and
matters regarding the integrity of the game will be reviewed
thoroughly and independently. And light of allegations from Brian Flores
from Roger Goodell, we also take serious any issue relating
to the integrity of NFL games. These matters will be
reviewed thoroughly and independently. We expect that these independent experts

(22:13):
will receive full cop cooperation from everyone associated with the
league or any other member, a club member as this
work proceeds, like the Miami Dolphins already had a little
bit of a snaff who A couple of years ago,
there was a story that came out in which Ryan
Tannehill was practicing one week and this was back I

(22:38):
want to say, there was a game they were playing
against the Chicago Bears, and Ryan Tannehill was ready to
go and he was a full participant in practice, and
then all of a sudden, the next day he was questionable,
and then as the week went on, he was downgraded out.

(22:58):
And I think it was Brock oswa tailor might have
been the starting quarterback for the for the Miami Dolphins.
But the league looked at it and thought it was
a little bit strange because Ryan Tannehill went from full
participant out of practice and there was no injury discussed,
and they thought it was odd, like, wait a second,
how does he go from full participant two out of

(23:19):
the game with no injury designation And it was investigated
by the league. Why do you think that was investigated?
Do you think the league cares whether or not Ryan
Tannehill or Brock Osweiller starts that game. They couldn't care less.
What they care about is did they were they on
the up and up with us when it came to

(23:40):
why is this guy all of a sudden out of
a game? Because you've got people who invest a lot
of money in this game that are interested in this.
Then now we're looking around going what are we doing here?
So teams can just disguise injuries. Remember the Todd Gurley
mysterious injury with the Rams. We never quite heard what
went on with the Todd Gurley stuff, and there were

(24:01):
people that were knocking on doors going, hey, what's going
on with Todd Gurley, what's the injury? And it was
always this vague sort of well he's got a knee
issue and he's got this, but nobody could figure out
what was really going on. Like you could look all
you want into the the UH minority hiring process and

(24:22):
all of that in the NFL, that's gotta be worked out,
and the NFL can can do and try and put
as much effort into it as they want. The one
that is the most damning right now that the NFL
is in a little bit of a panic over is
the idea that teams are tanking games that teams are
telling you everything's on the up and up, only to

(24:42):
find out it's a bunch of crap, Like like, we
don't know whether or not this is a legitimate contest
or one team is playing to actually win and the
other team is trying to lose. And it's hard to
prove because players are out there trying to keep their jobs.
Players are out there trying play at the best they
possibly can because they're not being rewarded a hundred thousand

(25:04):
dollars to lose games. They're trying to play for their
next contract. But if you've got coaches that are putting
their teams into a position to fail and being rewarded
to that's a problem. And we can try and dismiss
the gambling side of this, and you could say, well,
you know, it's just gambling. I mean, what's the big deal.

(25:24):
I mean, who cares about the gamblers? Here's who cares
about the gamblers? The NFL, every television network and every
radio network that you listen to. Have you noticed gambling
all of a sudden has become very popular. You notice
all the gambling spots and gambling conversations that pop up
in shows nowadays. Because people in television and radio that

(25:47):
cover sports have had to do a crash course over
the past a couple of years, year and a half
to two years because they realize how much money is involved.
So if you're a gambling entity, or you're one of
these people who looks at this and goes, hey, man,
there's a lot of money to be made, and there's

(26:08):
a lot of opportunity here to invest in this league.
It's the most popular league in the world. We see
what Fantasy Football has done, which is gambling. Like, there's
a lot of money to be made. If all of
a sudden you realize that the money you're investing in
is not exactly on the up and up, why the
hell would you invest in it. This is a multimillion,

(26:29):
possibly billion dollar ramification of the Brian Flores allegations. And
if it turns out to be true, what the f Now?
Everybody's second guessing and going back in time and thinking, Wait,
I invested a lot of money on this game. I
spent a lot of money on tickets on this game.
I spent a lot of money on travel on this game.
I gambled a lot of money on this game. You

(26:51):
mean to tell me that was all garbage. That's a problem,
and that's the next step in all this. If that
turns out to be true, the NFL can do whatever
they want. They got some answering, and you've got a
lot of teams are gonna be called into question for
how they behaved in years past. Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio,
get me on Twitter, at the Jonas Knocks at the
Jonas Knocks on Twitter. There is somebody in the NFL

(27:13):
I feel terrible for. We will get into that for
you right here on fs ARE. But for all the
latest from around the world of sports ladies and gentlemen,
I present to you a man who cracks the mic
every single Saturday here on Fox Sports Radio. I declined
the introduction, hold on, hold on, stop the music, Stop
the music. I declined the introduction. I I greatly appreciate
these introductions each week, but there's something superseding that. Jonas.

(27:36):
I have a few brief questions for you before I
get into the NFL. It's about something you said a
few moments ago that demands clarification due to the continued
fascination that the listening audience has with Jonas Knox. What
do you mean you bet on pro wrestling, hold on,

(27:57):
hold on a why in the world, and be who
in the world actually takes legitimately, who actually legitimately takes
action on? Betting on pro wrestling. Isn't that like betting
on the ending of a movie? Well? Yeah, I mean
you can bet on the Academy Awards. You can bet
on the Oscars. No no, no, no, no, no, not awards.

(28:19):
But how the movies? I mean, can I call someone
and say, hey, I want to put down fifty bucks
on the boat to sink at the end of Titanic,
That's what I mean. I mean, listen, I don't know.
I don't actually have that, you know, the UH. I
don't have that dark of a personality that I would
bet on a boat, you know, going into the ocean
and people dying underwater like again, But that's not that's

(28:40):
just me. I mean maybe you're into that, Isaac, And
I'm not here to judge anybody, but I mean that's
just not how I operate. But you can go on
to UH, to any you know, reputable gambling site and
and they put a limit on these things. Look, it's
like the Super Bowl, these prop bets. You can bet
on the coin top us. Now, you can't bet a

(29:02):
million dollars on it. They'll put a limit on how
much you can bet. But you know what, they look
at it and they say, hey, we'll throw you a
couple of bucks. You want to If you've got that
much of an issue that you want to gamble on
professional wrestling, you know what, there's a place for you.
Like how many liquor store owners stop and ask some guy, hey, man,
are you an alcoholic? I don't know if I should
tell you this bottle of booze. No, they're looking to

(29:23):
get make some money, and so these gambling sites are yeah,
Steve knows, and these gambling sites will get it and
they go, you know what, if this guy wants to
gamble on the Royal Rumble and gamble on professional wrestling,
he clearly has a problem. We're not going to turn
him down. We'll take his business. Just be responsible with
it and the way we go. Back in the eighties,
I was convinced that pro wrestling back then, the w

(29:46):
w F was real, and I dismissed all arguments to
the contrary. Of course, I was nine years old. But
now what I'm saying is, how can it be allowed
for someone to bet on something where the outcome has
already been determined. I e. The end of the movie Titanic.
I'm not gleeful about an actual boat sinking. I'm talking

(30:08):
about a movie made about something that happened a hundred
years ago. I mean, listen, I don't ask questions. There's
just there. There's money laying on the ground. And as look,
as long as there's not some guy with a fishing
pole and some wire that's trying to dangle the money
away from me while I'm trying to catch up with
it and I'm walking into traffic, as long as that's
not happening, and and and they're handing out money like

(30:28):
that, that that I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna try
and look, uh you know. I mean, I'm not even
gonna talk about all the other matches that I've bet
on and lost. I'm just focusing on the two that
I want, the two out of the seven that I want.
I think I went two and five at the Royal Rumble.
But you know what, those two were very important too,
because they make me look as as somebody that's very relatable.
I'm the common man here, and so when people are

(30:49):
looking around at themselves a little bit frustrated there at
an off track betting site, betting on a horse race
and Indonesia, and all of a sudden they realize that
jockey's got a blindfold on and I just wasted a
hunter bucks. Now they're looking around, going I've got a problem.
They turn on Fox Sports Radio and they realize, oh,
but that guy bet on professional wrestling last week. So
all is okay. I'm just trying to be relatable and

(31:10):
make people feel good about their own problems. That's it,
I think. Accidentally, you just arrived at a very entertaining
new sport blindfold horse racing. Oh god, you talk about corruption.
I mean listen, when when when the most successful trainer
in your sport he uses this is an excuse for
why one of his horses was on the gas during

(31:31):
a big time race and he says, well, he must
have gotten some tainted Hey, there must have been yearing
on the hay in the barn. When when that's the excuse.
You know that's a sport with a problem. Wasn't there
a song in the eighties called tainted? Hey? You know
that was tainted love? Very good? All right, we can
for scene with the music, thank you for Human Class, Act,
Isa Blow and Crown for all the latest and music,
pop culture, and sports, especially sports. As Jonas mentioned a

(31:54):
few minutes ago, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell today sending a
memo to all thirty two teams. The sub of the
memo was quote our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion unquote.
The memo reads, in part, and once again I quote,
we have made significant efforts to promote diversity, which has
produced positive change in many areas. However, we must acknowledge that,

(32:17):
particularly with respect to head coaches, the results have been unacceptable.
We understand the concerns expressed by coach Flores unquote. By
the way, I'm gonna digress a little bit to read
you a quote from the NFL's statement on the Brian
Flores lawsuit back on Tuesday, which read, and again I quote,
we will defend against these claims, which are without merit unquote,

(32:41):
So there would appear to be a slight disparity in
the two statements. The memo also goes on to state
and I quote we also take seriously any issue relating
to the integrity of NFL games. These matters will be
reviewed thoroughly and independently. Let's check in on the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jonas.
They have just tweeted video new head coach Doug Peterson

(33:04):
arriving in Jacksonville getting off a private jet with the
caption Coach Peterson's first touchdown in hashtag Duvall. And then
moments later, here is Doug Peterson's first statement to Jacksonville
Jaguars fans. This again from the terminal at the airport

(33:25):
after landing in Jacksonville. This just a few minutes ago. Hey,
Jakes fans, Coach Peterson here, I'm just so excited, just
touched down in Jacksonville and really looking forward to getting
started and going to work right here in Duvall. And
I'm excited, and let's go Jags. Here to break down
that statement, Jonas knocks, I will point out that thankfully
there was no dramatic yet cheesy music and no video

(33:48):
of him getting out of an suv in the snow,
which I guess it wouldn't be snowing in Jacksonville. But
as I tossed it back to you, Jonas, breakdown what
you just heard. I heard a guy who said, you
know what, I can't go worse than what happened here before.
So why don't I just take the gig and we'll
see how this goes. I've already got a Super Bowl.
We'll just we'll figure this out on the fly here.
Maybe Trevor Lawrence turns out to be something. I've got

(34:12):
some thoughts on the Jaguars I want to get into
next Hour, because what a clown show. You think these
You think these coaches, You think these new coaches across
the league and in college, do you think secretly they
really hate the fact that these social media people are
following them around everywhere they go, including probably to the bathroom.
It's so lame, Like like they they filmed Brian day

(34:34):
Ball getting out of his like he looked like he
was in a monster truck. First of all, I don't
know if it was Grave Digger or Bigfoot, but he's
getting out of this monster truck. He's got this, uh,
this like briefcase. He's in a suit that he doesn't
want to be in, and then he's like walking into
the facility, shake some guy's hand, like it's like what
are we what are we doing? TikTok? Are we doing

(34:55):
NFL games? Like? What are we doing here? Why why
is this necessary? It's just the whole thing. And I
was arguing this with Brady, is like, well, those are sponsored,
so what like watch minor league baseball and the car
always has to be like an escalade or an suv.
It loses some of the grandeur if they're getting out
of a Honda a quarter or Toyota Corolla. I just

(35:15):
I just at some point, I I get the sponsorship opportunities,
but don't you look around and go this is kind
of like if you're watching a minor league game and
you go brought to you by Chuck's Trucks on will
Shore and uh and at that avenue, It's like, what
are we doing? Dude? Like it's just it's just so lame.
But hey, good for Doug Peterson. I also thought I
heard that the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to hand out

(35:38):
um with Doug Peterson, big fan of the visor. A
snorkel to go along with the visor. It's a combo
pack so that way in between quarters he can jump
up and go swim in that pool at the top
deck at jackson Go Jaguars Stadium whatever their stadium is called.
And furthermore, who cares all right, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio,
get me on Twitter at the Jonas Knox UH. Coming

(35:59):
up now, we're going to get into another edition of
Do You Care? This is an opportunity to be a
little bit negative on sports radio, and who the hell
doesn't want to do that at yours? Right here on
fs ARE, Jonas went out and got himself some corporate sponsors. Hey,
this is Jason McIntyre. Join me every weekday morning on
my podcast Straight Fired with Jason McIntyre. This isn't your

(36:21):
typical sports pod pushing the same tired narratives down your
throat every day. Straight Fire gives you honest opinions on
all the biggest sports headlines, accurate stats to help you
win big at the sports book, and all the best guests.
Do yourself a favor and listen to Straight Fired with
Jason McIntyre on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast,

(36:41):
or wherever you get your podcasts. Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio.
You can hang out with us as always on the
I Heart Radio app coming up top the next hour,
about ten minutes from now here on fs ARE, What
a disaster at absolute disaster in the NFL. UH, and
you gotta be asking yourself how long until this absolutely collapses?

(37:03):
We will get into that for you right here on
Fox Sports Radio. Right now, It's time for something we
do every single week at this time, and it's called this.
There's so many stories in the world of sports, and
most of them are a complete waste of time reports.
Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big stories from
the last week. But Jonas, the real question is do

(37:24):
you care? And for that we turn it over to
our executive producer, Ryan Burr Shinger to find out what
the hell is going on. Bursch, Tom Brady retired and
did not mention the Patriots in his retirement announcement. Jonas,
do you care? No? Not really, I'm sorry. Look, you
know when you get married and uh, you're giving your
speech thanking everybody for showing up? How many you go

(37:47):
back in time and thank all your ex girlfriends for
making you realize this is the one? You know what
I mean? Let come on, it happens. Hey, he thanked
the Patriots when he left and went to Tampa. You know.
But but the idea that this is that big of
a deal and people are outraged by had stopped being
so soft Next, the Winter Olympics have begun, Jonas, Do
you care? No? Us? I mean, and look, they've got

(38:10):
their own problems when it comes to uh just you
know sort of things that go on there. Uh and
I think we all know what what is going on
when it comes to why these games are even being
played and why anybody want to would want to partake.
But no, I I just there there's a lot of
sports on and you can say, well, I mean, what
are we talking about Super Bowls? Not until next weekend.

(38:31):
There's enough out there to keep yourself entertained that you
don't need to really be diving into the winner Olympics. Next, Well,
the Pro Bowl is one of those things, Jonas. The
Pro Bowl is this weekend. Do you care? Not? Really?
Here's what I care about. Who thought that it would
be a good idea to do the NHL All Star

(38:52):
Game in the Pro Bowl, not only on the same weekend,
but in the same city. Who thought about that? Like?
Who was looking around? And you know it would be
a really smooth move. Why don't we just go ahead
and combine both of those and put him in the
same city. I mean, what are we doing here? What
do you want to spread that out. What do you
want to do, like like wait a week or wait
two weeks until after the Super Bowl and then line

(39:13):
it up. I get that these things are planned out
ahead of time, but who did the planning when they said,
you know what we'll put We'll put one group of
players in the Blaggio Fountain and then we'll put the
other group of players on the side of the luxe,
or we'll have some of them hanging out in the
mouth of the MGM lion out in front of their
casino and everything will be fine. It just doesn't make
any sense. Next, Caleb Williams transferred to USC jonas do

(39:34):
you care? Oh god, no, i I've never I'm people
in southern California continue to push the USC conversation and
it's just so tired. It's overdue. Matt Lioner and Reggie
Bush aren't walking through that door. Sam Donald had a

(39:57):
Rose Bowl, that's it. But you get these fanboys who
want to convince you that USC football is back. I
love Lincoln Riley. It'd be great of U s C.
You know, like was actually a relevant team and like
at the top fifteen or twenty. But stop force feeding people. Next,
the first three episodes of Huluds Pam and Tommy have
been released, a mini series detailing the theft and release

(40:18):
of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee's sex tape. Jonas, do
you care? Well? You know, I gotta be honest with you, right,
Ryan Burr Singer, I consider him a friend, I consider
him a colleague, I consider him a professional. Um, I'm
not comfortable talking about sex tapes with Ryan Burr Shinger
on the air. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports

(40:38):
talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows
at Fox Sports Radio dot com and within the I
Heart Radio app search f s R to listen live.
We got ourselves a full fledged disaster in the NFL.
It's a clown show. It continues to get worse and worse.
We will get into all of that for you coming
up here in just a couple of moments from now,

(40:58):
Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with
us as always on the I Heart Radio app. You
can find us on hundreds of Fox Sports Radio affiliates
and wherever you are making us a part of your
Saturday morning. We appreciate you doing so. We're gonna take
you all the way up until noon Eastern time nine
and Pacific through the end of the hour here on
Fox Sports Radio for a a fun little weekend of Look,

(41:20):
we've got kind of NFL. I mean, you got the
Pro Bowl, all right, you got to, you know, some
more conversation when it comes to Super Bowl fifty six
next week is gonna be a lot of fun. We're
gonna be talking prop bets, We're gonna be talking about
game storylines, etcetera, etcetera. I will say this, I can't
help but feel a little bit bad for the for
the Detroit Lions. And here's why. I don't know what

(41:41):
you're thinking, Oh, why is it the Lions? Just like,
look at it this way. If you're the Detroit Lions
and you hit on a quarterback. And while I don't know,
I think the Matt Stafford effect has been a little
bit overblown. Like like people it's easy to just say, well,

(42:02):
I mean, you know, they upgraded a quarterback, Okay, I
get it, But he's there's not that much of a
drastic difference between him and Jared Goff, all right, Like
they went to a Super Bowl with Jared Goff. All Right,
you can say, well, no, yeah, but they got. I mean,
Jared Goff kind of kind of bailed out Sean McVeigh
a year ago with with the performance, uh, you know

(42:24):
in the playoff game when when when you know he
wanted to go with a John Wolford who looks like
Gary Oldman by the way, I don't know if I
don't know if he still does. I haven't looked up
John Wolford recently, but he did look like Gary Oldman.
Like I mean, when you're Sean McBain the Rams and
you choose to start the pimp from true romance, uh
in a in a playoff game, I mean, you know

(42:46):
you might have a little bit of a problem. And
he lasted like a minute and then he was gone.
But when you're starting the guy who played Oswald and
JFK in a playoff game, I mean, listen, you get
what you got coming to you, all right. But Jared
Goff came in, he saved the day. Uh, And and
you know he gets ousted and basically becomes the fall
guy after all this stuff. But I feel bad for
the Lions because the draft Matt Stafford he puts in

(43:08):
a long time there. He gets you to three playoff appearances.
You lose all of them. Uh, and then you're looking
at it going, all right, so now we're gonna be
looked at as this is why you needed to leave
them if you want to have success in the NFL.
And then on top of that, one of the other
organizations you've always been kind of joined in with, Like
when you talk about the bottom feeders of the NFL,

(43:30):
there's like a couple that come to mind. People always
go to the Lions, they would always go to the Bengals.
You would throw the Browns in there, you would throw
the Jaguars, the Jets. There was always that grouping of teams. Well,
now Cincinnati's like outgrown everybody because now they're in a
Super Bowl, they might win a Super Bowl. They'll no
longer be considered one of those bottom feeders. And then

(43:52):
on top of that, the one thing that made you
feel good if you were the Detroit Lions, as you
looked at Cincinnati and said, you guys are gonna pass
up on Pan Swel, we'll take him. We might have
you know, an all pro offensive lineman for the next
decade here. Well, absolutely, your mistake is our gain. Only
to find out the reason they did that is because
they took Jamaar Chase, who is a rocket ship at

(44:14):
wide receiver for Cincinnati, like Detroit can't they can't win,
like they're looking around going I mean, I mean, for
God's sakes, I mean even even Hardbaugh once out of
the state, like what are we doing here? And then
he comes acrawl like it. Just I feel bad for
the lines. They get bullied on. They get picked on
a lot, but you know, it could be worse. You
could be the Bears. Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. Also,

(44:38):
we've got some of some people very fired up on
social media. This is always a good conversation here, very
fired up about the the topic of Brian Flores, uh,
you know, uh and all the and all the discussion
about the the you know, uh racial implications of the
NFL's hiring practices, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. I take offense to

(45:01):
this right because somebody, um, you know, talked about my
take on the Brian Flores stuff, which is which is this?
I mean, where's the proof that John Elway and the
people with Denver were hungover. I'm just curious, where's the proof.
I mean, he said it, but where's the proof. I
just want to know was there a secret breathalyzer test

(45:25):
done during the interview. I just I gotta know. Did
he go back and contact liquor stores and the greater
Denver area to ask was there a Super Bowl champion
Hall of Fame quarterback who showed up here late at
night to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels and a
pack of Marlborough's. I just want to know. I need

(45:48):
the proof. And then when he talks about what happened
with the Giants and he gets sensitive to Bill Belichick
confusing him and Brian day Ball, I mean, look, I
get it. You know it's you know it. It's an
insulting thing. But there's no there's no real proof that
that we've seen of of any of the allegations. The
one thing that has jumped out that people are looking into,

(46:11):
going there might be something here, especially because this one
they say they've got evidence, they've got actual proof, because
somebody overheard him say it was Stephen Ross offering a
hundred thousand dollars for him to lose games. And I
do like how Hugh Jackson tried to jump into the
mix and say, I mean, my god, they even gave
me a contract extension after I lost games, like Brian Flores'

(46:32):
team is probably like, hey, Hugh, why don't you back
away from the mic. Dude, We're trying to win a
case here. You're making it worse. You just said I
was given a contract extension after going one and thirty one.
That kind of kills our game. Just back away from
the mic, all right, Like stop you're making this worse.
But you know, we got I got people on Twitter

(46:53):
that are you know, telling me that that's a classic
white boy response, and I'm insulted by that. That's insulting
because first of all, I'm not white, I'm pasty. Big difference,
huge difference. Right, there's white, and then there's paper towel white,
and I sort of veer into that. If I hang

(47:17):
out in the sun for longer than ten minutes, I
look like I'm filming a red lobster commercial. It's a
bad look. All right, So we can we can go
down the path of the racial implications all we want
there there, It is obvious the NFL's hiring practices or flawed.
I get it. It's not anything that's gonna be solved
because of the Brian Flores case. My whole point was

(47:39):
when You've got so many entities that want to be
involved with the NFL from a gambling standpoint, and then
you come to find out that it may not exactly
be on the up and up. That's an issue. It's
a major issue, and that's why the NFL and Roger
Goodell comes out with the memo they sent to teams saying, hey, listen,

(48:01):
we take this stuff serious. We've got to We've got
our work to do here. We are going to uh
to to try and figure this whole thing out. But
just so you know, you can trust us. This is
not the w w E, it's not professional wrestling. These
aren't scripted outcomes. We're gonna go ahead and we're going
to try and make sure none of this stuff happens
like That's that is a major, major problem, along with

(48:24):
the hiring practices of the NFL and all the other
stuff that goes along with it. And if it does
turn out that Stephen Ross was and we have proof,
like Brian Flores and his legal teams say, offering him
a hundred thousand dollars to lose games, I mean, doesn't
he have to? I mean, don't you make him sell
the team? I mean I don't know what the legal

(48:47):
ramifications are of that, but I mean we've seen, you know,
Jerry Richardson with the Carolina Panthers. We we saw what
happened with the Clippers years ago. I just I wonder
if the NFL goes, hey, man, this is so bad,
you gotta go, dude, like we we can like this
doesn't work, you gotta go. And so that's where we

(49:08):
see whether or not this is going to take a
another strange turn. By the way, speaking of we mentioned
one of the teams that's a bottom feeder team, uh,
the Jacksonville Jaguars. I mean, right when you think you've
seen it all with the Jacksonville Jaguars, they just continue
continue to be a full fledged disaster. The the Doug
Peterson hiring in Jacksonville, and then the situation in which

(49:36):
Byron Leftwich, who could have had the job and basically
just said I'm good, I'll wait, I'll wait. I'd rather
wait good for Byron Leftwich. Why would anybody I want
to be involved with the Jacksonville Jaguars after what the
hell they have done over the past couple of years.

(49:57):
I mean, say whatever you want about the Urban Meyer
a debacle and how it didn't work out for I
said it on the air. Urban Meyer had no chance there.
I mean people were people were out to to to
they were selling doom and gloom on the Jaguars. The
second urban Meyer was offered the job, I mean they
were screwed, like it just wasn't gonna work. And then

(50:17):
you had the stuff where he shows up at the
bar and and the woman is, you know, grinding on him,
and and all the other things that come along with it,
and you know, the the Tim Tebow and all the
other stuff that came along with it, the urban Meyer
debacle and Jacksonville aside. This whole hiring process by the
Jags has been a clown show. It continues to get worse.

(50:43):
So Byron Leftwich wants the job, You've got multiple coaches
out there that are interested in the position, but you
keep hearing the same thing, Hey, you know that guy
Trent Balky that you got there, We don't want to
work with him? So what a shot kan do? Instead
of like asking the question of ay, so why doesn't

(51:05):
anybody want to work with this guy, he just continues
to want to keep rolling out and say, you know
what we're you know, it's fine. It's fine, We'll bring
in somebody else. Albert Brier brought this up on Fox
Sports Radio yesterday in which he said, and this is
a just a bizarre stat that Trent Balky is now
on his sixth head coach in six seasons that he's

(51:26):
been associated with. Do you think there might be a
common theme there? There might be a little bit of
a problem. Jim Harbaugh was really really good in San Francisco,
and the reason why that fell apart was his relationship
with Trent Balky. Urban Meyer. The reason why that fell
apart was his relationship because with Trent Balky. Byron Leftwich,

(51:50):
the reason why he didn't want to come home and
and coach the Jacksonville Jaguars was because of Trent Balky.
Even Doug Peterson has said, I've got reservations about working
with Trent Bulky, but ultimately took the job because I
don't know, maybe they promised him something on the back end,
who the hell knows, But it's the same theme over

(52:11):
and over again, and they don't want to change it.
It's it's like, you know, we're good here. It's like,
you know, it's like duct taping sardines. In your armpits
and you keep showering, but you just can't figure out
why you smell awful. I don't know what it is,
but I don't know what the problem is. I mean,

(52:31):
I'm putting cologne on, I'm showering twice today, I still
smell terrible. Dude. Take the sardines out of your pits.
The Jaguars have a sardine in the organization, and they're
looking around, going, why does anybody want to stand next
to us? What do you mean? It's right there? And
they just no, no, we're good here. We don't need

(52:53):
to make changes. We'll just hire a head coach man.
Maybe maybe their relationship will get better, all right, makes
that's good for Byron Left, which he's like, Man, I'll
wait by turd baby. Bruce Areas is gonna retire and
I'll get the gig in Tampa. I'd rather coach Kyle
Trask in Tampa Bay, then coach Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville.

(53:13):
We're good here, my god, Jonas knocks Fox Sports Radio.
Get me on Twitter at the Jonas Knocks at the
Jonas Knocks on Twitter. You can. We're gonna hang out
with you all the way up through the end of
the hour uh new and Eastern time, nine am Pacific
here on Fox Sports Radio. Alright, so coming up next, um,
they continue continue, continue to say things that are strange,

(53:39):
to say things that are bizarre and in my personal opinion,
lie to you. It's somebody in the NFL. We'll have
that discussion with you here right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with
us as always on the I Heart Radio app coming
up in about ten minutes from now. There is an element,

(54:01):
there's one element to a major story in the NFL
that I find a little bit odd, a little bit odd,
just a little bit you know. I mean it just
things don't exactly add up when you start to look
at at how this whole thing is being structured and
how the conversation is going. So we will get into
that here coming up in about ten minutes from now
on Fox Sports Radio. I mean, listen, if you're already

(54:21):
piste off, this is just gonna piss you off even more.
So we will have that that discussion with you here
on fs are. One of the things I did want
to mention, um, so the Jim Harbon Viking stuff which
just seemed weird from the get go. My My, My
old thing to open the show was sometimes you gotta
trust your gut. If it just seemed bizarre and it
seemed like it didn't add up, chances are there's a

(54:44):
reason for it. And the Jim Harbor Minnesota Viking stuff
and like him all of a sudden emerging as a
candidate and it was a foregone conclusion and then he's
there for nine hours and the Vikings are like, uh yeah, dude,
like the job isn't yours. I don't know what you
what did you think was happening here? I'm I'm just
I'm confused. And it was like Harbor I had to

(55:05):
save face, and you know, he was telling Mitch Albun
the Detroit Free Press, who's saying, you know to album,
like hey, uh, you know, I I just I'm gonna
come back to Michigan. I'm fired up. I mean, this
is a one time thing. You know. I had an
urge after losing the Super Bowl to to look into,
you know, some NFL opportunities, But it's a one time thing.
I'm going back to Michigan and I'm there to stay.

(55:26):
And it's like all right, But that was weird. It's
like it's almost as if you know a guy you know,
wants to break up with his with his lady and
he says, you know what, I just need some time apart,
thinking that he's gonna go meet up with somebody that
he's got a real shot with, only to find out
she's also in a relationship and not interested. Now he's
got to come crawling back and say, listen, I was

(55:47):
just I was a little bit buzzed. Trust me, You're
the only one for me, and everything is good. I
I was not interested in her. It was a one
time thing. Don't worry about it. Okay, see how the
it was a one time thing works in your household.
Try that one on for size, See how that works
moving forward, Because I got news for you. If you
don't think Michigan is gonna be looking over their shoulder

(56:09):
or looking around and say to themselves, are we sure
about this? I mean this seems a little bit strange.
I mean, come on, I get it. Harbo took a
four million dollar haircut. If there was ever a time
he was gonna leave, now would be the time. But
the whole Vikings thing was just strange. It didn't make sense.
And so one of the elements to that was who
would have taken over at Michigan? And I was hoping

(56:32):
Harbaugh took the gig just for a couple of reasons.
Number One, I think he's a great coach, like and
you could you can dispute harbor success at Michigan, but
he's worked everywhere he's gone, and what he did in
San Francisco, developing, reviving Alex Smith's career, basically developing Colin

(56:56):
Kaepernick like what he did in San fran was successful.
And Kirk Cousins is a good quarterback, and so just
to see what he would have been able to do
there at the NFL level coming back after all these years,
we've been fascinating. But then the conversation goes, well, who
would have taken over at Michigan? And I wanted to
see Matt Rule take the job because reportedly he would

(57:17):
be interested in the job if it was available, just
because Carolina, if I'm Matt Rule, I would have been like,
kiss my ass, I'm out, Like you give me two
years of of quarterback play like I got, and then
you float out there that we're gonna stick by him

(57:40):
for another year, Like, you you give me what a
seven year contract, You tell me this is gonna be
a new heir of Carolina football. I leave college where
I was successful to take the job, and then you
roll out whatever the hell you roll out In year
one with Teddy Bridgewater, you give him a three year
deal which was basically a one year deal, and then
you out and you trade for Sam Donald, which was

(58:02):
a disaster. And then we bring back Cam Newton, which
was some sort of a pr move but by the
Carolina Panthers to try and bring in, you know, maybe
the greatest player in the history of their franchise. And
then you're gonna float out there in the off season. Yeah,
after further review, we're gonna go ahead and stick with

(58:23):
him another year. If I were Matt, rule would have
been like, I'm out see you. I'll go to Michigan.
I'd rather coach Michigan than coach the Carolina Panthers, just
based on that whole how that whole situation went. So
I was open to see hardbu go for one for
two reasons. A go back to the NFL, see if
you can make it work with the Vikings or whoever

(58:44):
was going to offer m a job and be Matt
Rule to Michigan. I would I would have loved to
have seen how that would have played out. And if
Matt Rule does end up getting fired by Carolina after
this next season, and who the hell knows what it
what the NFC South is gonna look like he's gonna
have a really good opportunity back and call It's one,
no doubt about it. Jonahs knocks Fox Sports Radio. Um So,

(59:06):
I don't know why he continues to do this. I
don't know what he thinks this does and why he
thinks this works, or or or what he's even trying
to intend when he does this. But Jerry Jones, I
don't get it. Dude, are you are you trying to
Is he trying to threaten Mike McCarthy? Is he trying

(59:27):
to to to show him that there's all these other
options out there? But you're my guy, Like, what what
exactly is Jerry Jones trying to do here? He was
talking about his defensive coordinator, Dan Campbell, which, by the way,
this is his defensive coordinator, or or Dan Quinn. Rather,
this is his defensive coordinator, all right. This is not

(59:47):
his head coach, This is his defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
Here was Jerry Jones talking about his DC. Because of
every one of those three coaches have said dead loved
to be the head coach the Cowboys. In my mind,
that has a lot of logic as to why they

(01:00:08):
might not take a job now rather than one or
wait and see how the cards go in future. Do
you consider Dan a potential future head coach of the
Dolls Cowboys? But he's certainly qualified. He's very qualified. Yes,
I would consider. If I didn't have a coach, I
would have been interviewed him for coach. I just I

(01:00:33):
don't like. I mean, if I'm Mike McCarthy, like, do
you call your real turn just say all right, yeah,
just between you and I, you know, see what we
could give for this place? You know what? What do
you look? What? What are you doing? What's the what's

(01:00:53):
the to show everybody that you're defensive coordinators in demand?
We get it. He interviewed with it with some other jobs.
He interviewed with some other gigs. Look, I said it
last week, the idea that Dan Quinn just turned down
and had like, that's a lie. I don't I don't
believe it for a second. The dan Quinn had an
opportunity to coach elsewhere, but he decided he wanted to

(01:01:14):
stay with the Dallas Cowboys. Then why did you interview
for the job? Why did he do two interviews? I
think he did like two interviews at least a couple
of teams, I know, the Bears, maybe it was the
Jags and and and somebody else. But why did he
interview for those jobs? If he was just gonna if
he wanted to stay in Dallas and this was all
about him staying in Dallas, why did he a interview

(01:01:36):
for those jobs and be do second interviews with those jobs? Nah,
he decided he just wanted to come back. What like
like it just doesn't make sense. And so Mike McCarthy,
who you're saying, that's my coach, that's my coach. But
then you're alluding to the fact that you've got Dan

(01:01:57):
Quinn and Sean Payton in years past, and all these
guys has wanted to stay here because they wanted They
looked at it as an opportunity to be the head
coach of the Cowboys. And then he goes on to say, well,
Mike knows he's not going to be the head coach
here forever? Okay, like find me the coach who gets hired,

(01:02:17):
and at his introductory press conference goes, listen, I know
I'm not gonna be here forever, but while I'm here,
I really hope we won a lot of games. Nobody
says that nobody's thinking about the end. Nobody says I do,
and then goes, I wonder how this is gonna go wrong? Like, hey,

(01:02:38):
how long do you think it's? Like? You do you
take your blah blah blah whatever the valves are? Yes,
I forgot there's other things going on. It might have
been liquored up. But listen, now, do you take blah
blah blah? I do? You may kiss the bride? And
then after everyone's clapping, you turn around to the priest
and you go, hey, when when I say I do,
what is like? What's the like? How long we got?

(01:02:59):
It was like three years? Five years? Like is it?
Like what do you mean by till death? Do us? Like?
What does what exactly does that mean? Like does it mean?
Like I just nobody does that? And so Jerry Jones
comes out and says, well, Mike knows he's not gonna
be the head coach here forever. Thanks boss. I don't know,

(01:03:21):
Like I couldn't imagine the bosses at Fox Sports Radio
when they gave me an opportunity, and I was I
was desperate for work, I mean desperate for work, and
I had nothing going and and I've done on air
stuff and everything, and the only thing they had was
a weekend overnight editing position. And I was like, I'll
take it, like I'll take anything. I don't care, I'll

(01:03:42):
take anything part time, I'll take it. I mean, I'm
doing work on the side, but I'll take it. That
true story, Even at that point as a part time
weekend editor, my boss is never at any point during
the discussion to bring me on to work ten to
twelve hours part time on the weekends at Fox Sports Radio.

(01:04:04):
Never at one point that they say to me, oh,
and by the way, you know you're not gonna be
here forever, right. It never came up. But Jerry Jones
in a news conference in February, because his team hasn't
played this far into a season in almost thirty years,
it's like, yeah, well the head coach we got, we
got another guy who's qualified, and other coaches who want

(01:04:26):
to stay here because they want his job. Oh and
by the way, he's not gonna be the head coach
here forever. Mike McCarthy, call the real turn now and
just get the wheels in motion, in fact, with inflation.
Call you haul now and see whether or not you
can get a discount on a moving van or some
sort of a truck. Because this ain't going well. I
got I got a funny suspicion that Mike McCarthy is

(01:04:48):
looking at his family going, hey, it's cool here, but
where are we going next? Because this thing ain't gonna
end well. Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio, get me on
Twitter at the Jonas Knocks at the Jonas Knocks Twitter.
You can hang out with us as always on the
I Heart Radio app. Uh. This is a an element
to a story in the NFL. People are probably gonna
be bothered by this. They're probably gonna be piste off.

(01:05:09):
But truths need to be told on the show, and
if nobody else wants to tell these truths, I will
simply offer this up as a little bit of evidence
as to why maybe one aspect of what is happening
on a major story is not exactly the case. We
will get into that for you, right here on Fox
Sports Radio, but for all the latest from around the
world of sports ladies and gentlemen. High at top these
sports talk radio castle every single Saturday, this man with

(01:05:34):
the voice that you think about as you walk away
from your stereo or your radio or your app. He's
the voice that you hear reverberating over the speakers not
only during the week in the mornings, but also during
the weekends. You've heard him called Chargers games. You've heard

(01:05:55):
this man for over a decade here at Fox Sports Radio.
And it is my great honor to present to you
for the final time here on the final temporary, just
the final time during this show. I thought you met
the final time period. It's been worried for a second. Here,

(01:06:15):
Sir Isaac Loan, Crod Jonas, Guess what I have, Hi,
I have a new development for you from the Roger
Goodell memo. So Roger Goodell issued the memo just a
short time ago, we already have a follow up development
to that for you. Guess what, Jonas. Brian Flores legal

(01:06:36):
team has just issued a statement of their own in
response to the memo issued earlier this morning by NFL
Commissioner Roger Goodell. Now. Goodell's memo sent to all thirty
two teams read in part and I quote, we have
made significant efforts to promote diversity, which has produced positive
change in many areas. However, we must acknowledge that, particularly

(01:06:59):
with respect head coaches, the results have been unacceptable. We
understand the concerns expressed by coach Flora's unquote now. The
statement in response by Brian Flora's legal team issue just
moments ago, reads in part quote that the memo is,
on the surface, a positive first step, but we suspect

(01:07:21):
that this is more of a public relations ploy than
real commitment to change. We would be pleased to talk
to the commissioner about real change, but he has not
reached out to us. In fact, nobody from the NFL
has reached out to us. We believe that a court
must order a federal monitor to oversee the NFL, as

(01:07:44):
the NFL cannot continue to police itself. Unquote now here
with immediate first reaction. Jonas Knox, I mean I got nothing.
I mean that the hoping it's this back and forth.
I don't what did they expect that this whole thing
was gonna get sorted out in like three or four days.

(01:08:05):
I mean like we're nowhere close to the end of this. Look,
I mean, I'm no expert in in the legal field. Uh.
You know, here's the thing. As you all know, Jonas
Sports is a seven three sixty five deal. So guys
like us or who used to working weekends, early mornings,
late nights, etcetera. But I find it, I guess impressive

(01:08:27):
that his lawyers are hanging around and you know wherever
lawyers hang out, or on the golf course on a
Saturday morning, and Goodell sends out this memo and they're
quickly able to to draft a response to this early
on a Saturday morning. You know, they're probably have the
golf course or who knows where. Your thoughts on that,
I mean, you know, it is a little bit uh
you know, it is kind of interesting because the discussion

(01:08:51):
when these teams came out and disputed Brian Floress allegations
like the Broncos and the Giants, and it was like, wow,
they sure had a response quick, What the hell you
call this? Roger Goodell just dropped this one a little
over an hour ago, and this is the It's like,
it's just all of this is is pr. It's PR.
On both sides, Like everybody's trying to win there in

(01:09:14):
the in the eyes of the public. They're trying to
get everybody on their side. Now, whether this even goes
to a trial or whatever, if there's some sort of
a monetary gain, uh for for people involved that are
you know that filed the civil suit, I mean whatever
it is, Like, of course there's there's pr to this, Like,
I mean, that's how this stuff works. You want to
win in the eyes of the public and then and

(01:09:35):
then you're hoping if it goes that far, you'll you'll
win in the eyes of the court. And so it's
just it's just back and forth. It just goes on,
and it's like I don't know what this like, like
what is what is this solved? Like we don't have
an answer yet, and we're not gonna have an answer
and it's not gonna be fixed because of this, And
there's still gonna be issues in the NFL moving forward.
There's there's still gonna be issues with the hiring process.
It's flawed, the Rooney rules flawed, and and and guys

(01:09:58):
have been ousted like I would to know one of
the guys I've always defended, Steve Wilkes. Steve Wilkes got
screwed in Arizona. He was there a year and he
was given a bag of crap to work with. And
it was Sam Bradford who they signed for like like
twenty million dollars. And then they draft Josh Rosen. And

(01:10:22):
then after a year with a rookie quarterback who you
moved up to take in the draft, you trade him
and fire your head coach and then you bring in
Cliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray. Like if I'm Steve Wilkes,
I'm like, uh what, Like I don't get any time,
Like there's no time. I mean, this is what you
rolled out and you expect me to figure it out
in a year. Now. It's worked for Arizona because Kyler

(01:10:43):
Murray has been, you know, I I think a good
quarterback and been fun to watch in Cliff Kingsbury despite
what anybody says, they've gotten better each year. But you
look at that and you go, what the what the hell?
And then David Coley I said it time David Coley
got screwed. They gave him a bag of crap, although
they I think they gave him like twenty year, thirty
billion dollars to leave. But it was like like some
of these jobs when they're when they're presented to these guys,

(01:11:06):
they'll take them because they want an opportunity. But it's like,
I just wonder our teams really invested in that coach
or is it just a stop gap to get to
someplace else? And and that's that's I think one of
the other aspects of this that is very flawed by
the NFL. But you know, what the hell do I know, Isaac?
I do have a question for you, though this is
very important stuff. I'm just gonna ask you a question,

(01:11:28):
all right, So this is a total hypothetical, right, Just
tell me if there's a big difference between the two.
So say somebody has a record of twenty four and
and somebody else has a record of twenty three and

(01:11:49):
TWI but they have a playoff appearance, right, Which is
there that much of a difference between the two, or
would you argue that the person with the playoff appearance,
even they won one less game because they went to
the playoffs. You know, tie goes to the person who
goes to the playoffs, Right, Yeah, but it's not it's

(01:12:09):
not too significant to make me think that there's a
wide gulf between two head coaches. I really have to
uh take the eye test on on how the team's
actually looking in the in the flesh and compare things
like you know what division they're in, strength of schedule, etcetera, etcetera.
What if it was the same division and the same organization,

(01:12:33):
Now you've got me hooked. Would you say that the
person with the playoff appearance even though they won one
less game, would you say that that person maybe had
like the better more success based on getting to the postseason?
Not necessarily at all, because you know, there's sometimes that
teams have gotten in the in the playoffs because it's

(01:12:55):
been a really weak year for their division. Okay, you
know what, what if that person got into the playoffs
with their backup quarterback? Though? Okay that that would be
impressive to me. Yeah all right, So, um, Brian Flores
record with the Dolphins twenty four and Adam Gaze and
twenty five with a playoff appearance and Matt Moore started

(01:13:16):
that game. Oh my gosh, Brian Flora is all the
way though. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, But it is funny we
sit here and have the discussion about how bad Adam Gale,
Brian Flores was the best coach they've had in forever
and ever. Dude Adam Gaze got into the playoffs, and
and furthermore, Joe Filed been before him, had almost the

(01:13:38):
same identical records. So this idea that Brian Flores was
screwed by the Dolphins and they had all this success
and how could you part ways with him? It's a
relationship business, all right. Clearly the relationship between him and
Chris Greer failed and failed miserably. But if we're talking
about a guy who everybody has put out there as being,

(01:13:59):
you know, body who got screwed over by an organism. Look,
you can go through and find instances where people have
been ounced, and we mentioned Jim Harbaugh. There are times
when coaches absolutely get screwed. Steve Wilkes got screwed, David
Coley got screwed. I think Jim Harbaugh got screwed. But
this idea that that Brian Flores had all this success

(01:14:20):
and what how could the Dolphins It's like, come on, like,
it can't I said at the time, It can't be
that surprising that they would want to move on from him,
especially when you find out that him and Chris Greer
didn't get along, and and the ownership in Miami has
trusted Chris Greer throughout this entire process. That's why he's
been there since like two thousand one. So, I mean,
you know, come on, we gotta we're gonna, We're gonna,

(01:14:42):
you know, do history on this stuff. We gotta include everybody.
Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with
us as always on the I Heart Radio app. You
can get me on Twitter at the Jonas Knocks at
the Jonas Knocks on Twitter. All right, coming up next, Uh,
there is a if you're just looking at the super Bowl,
there is something that is really obvious to everybody involved,

(01:15:03):
and if it goes this way, we could have ourselves
a shocker. We'll get into that for you right here
in fs are super Bowl Time, Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio.
You can hang out with us as always on the
I Heart Radio app. Uh. Coming up, we'll call it
a little over ten minutes from now. It is gonna

(01:15:24):
be the up on Game crew, LaVar Arrington, t J. Houshman,
Zata Plexico, Burris. Uh, they will be Uh, that'll be
a fun listen here on Fox Sports Radio. As they
as they get. You all caught up on the latest
with Brian Flores, Uh, the the you know uh scandal,
the bribery scandal, the hundred thousand dollars, all the ramifications

(01:15:46):
on that. And yes, listen, I admitted to live on
the air betting on professional wrestling. I'm not ashamed of it,
all right. And so when when it coaches being is
being offered a hundred thousand dollars by by an owner
and they say they got proof, I would love to
see the proof. If that's the case, there's no way
the NFL can continue on with Steven Ross being part

(01:16:06):
of the league. You can't. You can't if you're rewarding
tanking or losing games, even if it's virtually impossible to
do in the NFL, because the players on the field
are going to play their ass off. They're not tanking. Now,
you can put in backups, but everybody's gonna look at
and go, dude, this isn't on the up and up.

(01:16:27):
What are we doing here? This doesn't make sense. So
so I don't believe that players tank. I just don't think,
especially in a league like that where the shelf life
is so short and there aren't guaranteed contracts for for
the guys in the league. You're playing for your next one,
and so the idea that players are gonna go out
there and tank it doesn't make sense. But it's the

(01:16:48):
the optics of we're rewarding teams to lose games, and
you've got fans who are showing up thinking everything's on
the up and up, only to find out, oops, it's not.
I mean, that's professor and wrestling. Like if we're talking
about predetermined outcomes, it's professional wrestling, and yes, I bet
on pro wrestling. Alright. Look, I've also like during the pandemic.

(01:17:11):
I can remember sitting with my fiance at the time
now wife, and during the pandemic, there was nothing going on,
and I was betting on a horse race. It was
a Saturday night. I was betting on a horse race
in Japan. I swear to God on that like everybody
at the track had masks on. I think the horses

(01:17:33):
might have had masks on too, Like I think I
think the horses had like nine on. And I'm betting
on this ra and she's like, what are you doing?
It was like betting on this race? She goes, why
I was like, don't ask me questions. I don't have
answers to. I don't know what what we already watched
Tiger King. What do you want from me? Like, I mean,
you want to watch it again? You're that infatuated with

(01:17:55):
drug addicts and people, you know, get limbs ripped off.
I don't know what to tell you. All right, I'm
not really interested in watching some meth head, Uh, you know,
beat a tiger with you know, with a tennis racket.
I'm not into it. So Lucy, you know, you do
what you can. But you know what, we'll see, uh,
how this whole thing plays out. And my guess is, um,

(01:18:15):
the NFL is gonna do whatever they can to try
and uh, you know, sweep this under the rug, you know,
play the pr game and all that stuff, and then
we move on and they still get the same issues,
you know. All Look, I know everybody wants to try
and help and make the change and all that. I
don't know that this is what gets it done. But
at least they're creating awareness and at least not only
on the hiring practices, but also on the you know, uh,

(01:18:37):
the the NFL's integrity of the game. At least they're
shining a light on it to where we can get
this stuff figured out. I will say this, So it's
a Super Bowl coming up a little over a week away.
We're gonna have a lot of fun next week, well
most of us, some of us have you know, a
work on the bigger shows here on Saturday, so they
won't be a part of the show. They'll be in
Santa Monica, you know, hanging out at the uh you know,
the rold Gold Shop. But the super of all fifty

(01:19:00):
six between the Bengals and the Rams, let's call this
what it is, Cincinnati, And I'll tell you this right now.
If you're asking me gut feeling, there's no way I'm
betting against Joe Burrow. There's absolutely no way I'm betting
against Joe Burrow. But all the pressure has got to
be on the Rams, right. I mean, you've got a

(01:19:22):
home game, You've got the Bengals, your favorite. You should
get this done. If they don't, I just want to
hear what sort of excuses we're making for Sean McVeigh
and company after the fact, for Ryan Sam and Isaac
Loong Crown. Thanks for hanging out with us here.
