Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening to Fox Sports. Oh let's go stinking genius,
let's go they didn't lose today, Let's go. Well, um,
but your choice. This is obviously the new and exciting
show that's sweeping the nation, even though I think, I
think outside of Anthony, we we have the longest running

(00:23):
weekend show. But I digress. Keep calling it new. Maybe
maybe see you know my theory on this. I don't
like to celebrate anniversaries because that might be the moment
where the boss says, dang man, they've been doing this
that long. Time to move on. So I don't like
to celebrate anniversaries. Longevity, to me is just a magnification
of how it's time to move on. But I digress.

(00:45):
You can start in one of ten different places tonight,
but I'll give you three. You ready. We can start
with the super Bowl. We can start well, actually, you know,
let's heard that this week. By the way I hear
it might happen. Let's say you start breaking news. We
can start with either the breaking news of Alvin Kamara,

(01:06):
the breaking news and Hugh, I hope you heard about
it because you sent it to me, the breaking news
in Houston, or what the people have been calling for
off the top of the show, which is the breaking
news in Miami. So your choice. I thought you were
gonna give you the Arizona Wildcats. I forget about Yeah, listen,
nobody's watching college basketball March all you. I I tried

(01:28):
to talk some college basketball, got like boot off the stage?
Or did you really try that? What's wrong with you? Well,
because I don't know. I kind of watched a little
bit of your Wildcats. You know, I I cover a
college I live in a college town. I kind of
thought that maybe a little people into it. I got booed.
It's like this, man, real quick, how come you're not
in l A right now? I thought cover lay this week? Yeah,

(01:49):
it's it's the Sunday before the super Bowl. It's it's
kind of up in the air. If I'll still be
there on Sunday or not is the great debate. So
we're we're we'll figure this out by Monday. Everybody's in
l A. I feel like I'm missing out. I wanted
to come to l A, but the boss is like, no, no, no,
we need you in Vermont. We need to right right there.
You can you can't come, Marty, you need stay in

(02:10):
Vermont and make sure we have the latest snowfall updates.
But we need the Vermont perspective on this year's Super Bowl.
You've got to stay there. So where do you want
to start? You want to talk about your new Dolphins coach?
The talk about my new Dolphins coach super Bowl? Well,
do you even know much about him yet? No? Not really.
He's been in the legal long time. No, he's been
a coach, you know. I I just want to say this.

(02:31):
They say, what makes a good coach? What makes a
bad coach? What makes a good coaches? When you start winning,
then you're a good coach. When you start losing, you're
not such a good coach. It really doesn't get me excited.
None of these names, ruly, riga Bell and then you
hear about love E Smith and and all that. Hey,
you know what, all fine and dandy. I'm tired of here.
And it just win, baby, just win. You know, look

(02:52):
at you adopting the like the way I saw that
in there. Mike Mick Daniel thirty eight years old. He'll
be thirty nine by the time the season starts. He
played He was a walk on wide receiver at Yale
and immediately after he was done with college, he started coaching,

(03:13):
was with the Broncos and spent some time with the Texans,
went to Sacramento, was with the Mountain Lions. I don't
know what league that was in. Uh, he did, I
heard you are? And then in two thousand and eleven
he was hired by Washington. Then head coach Mike Shanahan
became receiver's coach. And he's kind of been under the
Mike Shanahan slash Kyle Shanahan coaching tree every since. He's

(03:38):
he's he's goofy, but he's awesome. His comedian Dan Soder
is one of his best friends. They grew up together.
He's the first minority hire of this hiring cycle for
a head coach. And he's also a guy that has
overcome some of his own personal demons. And oh my gosh,
did he have that running game cooking for the Niners?
Arnie span Your is this the man the head coach

(04:01):
of the Dolphins to save to? Uh? You know, everybody's
talking about what a great hire it is and everything
like that. You know, Chris, I've always said that, you know,
You've always heard me. I don't care what the offensive
coordinator is or the defensive coordinator. If you took Bill
Belichick and then took the top five NFL coaches in
in in the NFL right now and put them on
one staff and say, okay, right now, you guys are

(04:23):
gonna be the coaching staff for the Jacksonville Jaguars. They're
still gonna win two or three games, all right. Coaching
can only take it so far. It's the players on
the field. And I understand that this guy has been around.
He's only thirty years old. Bosately has a lot of experience,
and I'm trying to say to myself, there's a really
big difference. He comes from the You mentioned the shadowhead tree.

(04:43):
So so what does that mean? Is Jimmy g tearing
it up up and say okay, I can't wait for
my two or to throw for two and in thirty
yards or something like that. I I don't know what
they get it excited about. Let me see what's on
the field, let me see how the offense is gonna look,
what are he's going to do, What changes are gonna
be made. Then I'll get excited. It's just another name

(05:04):
until they start winning. Then I'll say this guy was
the best yer since slight spread and you'll remember what
I'm saying right now. So let's see what goes on. Arnie.
First of all, let's let's rewind here a little bit.
It doesn't matter that he comes from the Shanahan coaching tree. Well,
because I always say that because you look at that, well,
because I talked about the Belichick tree and how really

(05:27):
it's not really worked tree. Let me give you some names,
all right, Well, Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVeigh, Matt lafleur, Mike McDaniel, hell,
Zach Taylor could technically be considered under that tree. Nathaniel Hackett,
Kevin O'Connell, some pretty good names that are in that company.

(05:48):
Number two, you say that you need to know about
the players. You picked the Dolphins to go to the
Super Bowl, you dope, So you probably feel like they
have a pretty good roster that he's inheriting. Right, I'm
a assuming that he has to be all aboard on tour, right,
because that's that was the problem with Flo is he
wasn't all aboard on to H and he wanted to
move on for at least when I thought he wanted

(06:09):
to move on from him. So, um, this guy has
to be an all in for two. That choice has
already been made up for him. I guess you know
that's that's a very interesting jumping off spot in these
coaches conversations as we welcome you into Arny and Plank
on a Fox Football setting. Yes we have the Pro Bowl,
but we shall not talk about that disaster. And uh
at Shady Shawn for twenty has threatened personal harm on

(06:31):
me if I bring up NASCAR. So I'll do my
damn just to bring it up every segment. But I digress. Um,
So I hear that a lot right? Oh, the the
Giants wanted to hire Brian day Ball to get the
best out of Daniel Jones. Josh McDaniels was hired with
the Raiders because he's fascinated with the idea of coaching
with Derek Carr. And then you then you heard what

(06:52):
this today? They thinking, how do we know? I mean,
what if what Kevin O'Connell hired to get the most
out of Kirkcuse, what if these coaches go through a
couple of workouts like this guy stanks? Are they just
stuck with him? Our can of new coach goes that
we gotta move on from this not not yester or
not today but yesterday. I guess it depends on the team.

(07:13):
But from well, from what I understand it, if it
cost flour is his job because he wasn't all aboard
on DUA. I can't imagine you're coming into a situation.
You know what you're getting. You know that you've got
to be in love with two and with fans. It's
like getting married and there's no choice for divorce. So
you better go ahead and make the best of it
because that's the way thing you're gonna get. Does that though,
in your opinion, if you take off your two is

(07:36):
the m v P glasses and put on your two
A sucks and anything the season MVP, but go ahead,
correct correct, Well, I think you had it too after
week nine, if I'm not mistaken you, um would you
feel confident in any owner that would say you better
trust in this guy. I think you bring in a
new head coach with the idea that if he sees
especially Brian Flores, defensive minded coach, Mike mcgi annual offensive guy. Right,

(08:01):
maybe you bring it in with the idea that, hey,
let us know what you see now throughout the process
of a ten hour interview, and if I ever have
to go through a ten hour interview, there needs to
be at least two meals included in a ten hour interview,
right But I mean, if you're sitting there for ten hours,
there's gotta be a lot of conversations around two right there.

(08:23):
I don't think I could talk for ten hours. I
get tired after three hours, because, like guys, we need
to wrap this up for an hour three and this
is pretty much my limit. But I do thank you
for having me here. You know, well, we've gone through
it all. Thanks everyone, We've we've talked for ten hours.
But I don't know. I just I think it's interesting
in a league where I feel like we're gonna have

(08:43):
another off season of crazy quarterback turnover. Who's to say
Mike McDaniel doesn't come in and say, hey, let's this roster.
The only thing it's like like Carolina, Carolina feels like
the only thing they're lacking is a really good quarterback.
Maybe maybe McDaniel comes in and says, you know, we
got some dudes here that can do some things like
we were doing in San Francisco. Two is just gonna

(09:04):
kill us. We gotta make a move. Isn't it funny
how when an NFL coaches hired, the NFL fans are
not running out the street going this is in Super Bowl.
But when you hire a college coach, uh, the fans
go absolutely bullistic, going on, this is great, man, this
is is exactly what we need. It's like night and
day with college in the NFL. Well, I think part
of that too, is because recruiting is such a major

(09:25):
part of college football, and you just think you're a
guy now the the NFL. If I don't know, if
McDaniel is coming from a place where Aaron Rodgers was
and suddenly it's like, oh, maybe Aaron Rodgers wants to
play for him, then maybe it's the celebration like you
saw from Bronco fans. But I think you guys made
a hell of a higher because I didn't know they

(09:46):
were going to get a coach tonight, so I was
gonna bring up who I thought they should hire, and
I said that, what the hell, We're not gonna win
a Super Bowl anyway, so why not have some fun.
Hire somebody who is high profile, um, somebody that know
is the game of football, somebody who's played the game
of football at a high level, somebody who's coached the

(10:06):
game of football and use somebody like that. And you
know who I'm talking about. Don't you playing again? Are
you talking about prime Time? That's who I'm talking about.
Do you want to Prime Time to come coach the Dolphins? Yeah,
at least if we weren't in a wind, we'd have
pretty of sound bites. I don't know, I mean, you
would at least be entertained by the props we'd be
talking about. The Dolphins would or lose everybody to start

(10:27):
the show off every week was a prime Time Nobody,
and I mean nobody, Arnie would ever top the amount
of buzz that would build for this team to be
on Hard Knocks right it's already starting. Yeah, well, so
that's one coaching story that verdram is coming up after
the break. But real quick, have you made sense of

(10:47):
what's going on in Houston? Have you allowed yourself to
kind of dip into this mess right now? Where I guess,
Lovey Smith, it's gonna be higher tonight. I saw that
and I'm like, okay, I mean, so be it and
so lee Um not something I'd be excited about. And
I don't know if I'd say, Okay, he's gonna get
you over the top. And seems like they just need
somebody in place to to keep the ship straight moving,

(11:09):
you know what I mean. It's like a captain. So hey, good,
good look for Lovey. We'll see what he can do.
But I'm not so sure he was the best hired
for that position. It's gonna be I mean, he just
failed with the Illinois fighting a line I and now
you kind of wonder what kind of move is this.
I thought I had my conspiracy had on. I kind

(11:31):
of thought that they would hire Brian Flores like tomorrow morning,
and then that would kind of change a little bit
of the lawsuit narrative. But this is this is interesting.
Are the Dolphins hiring McDaniel change the lawsuit narrative now?
And also the Texans going probably going with love Smith.
Um maybe I don't know. That's I tried to dive in,

(11:55):
and I wouldn't lie to you. Listen, I'm not trying
to disrespect Brian Flores legal fight. If you feel slided,
go go at it. I want to see you fighting.
I want to see this fixed in the NFL. And
if we had coach owners that were trying to pay
you off to lose games, then go get it, because
I read somewhere where it could go as far as
if this is proven to be true, Steven Ross could

(12:15):
be forced to sell the team. But I digress. I also,
as I started getting through it, I was, I was,
I mean, it's literally like he's pulling everyone into this thing,
aren't he He pulled the Raidar situation, when John Grooen
into this, he pulled. So I don't know if it's
if there's too much going on in this or not
to where the NFL thought, Hey, we've we've we've seen
a turn in the hiring cycle. We've seen two min

(12:38):
already hires. I don't know, but you would think the
best way to try to make it silence at least
was for Flor's to get hired. But doesn't look like
that's going to be the case. Doesn't. No, it doesn't.
It doesn't at least it doesn't look like right now. Um,
we'll see where he's gonna we'll see what staff he's
going to be on though, Um, if he's going to
be a staff or if he's not gonna ever coach again,
I'm curious. I gotta feel that he's gonna be picked

(12:59):
up somewhere and continue the fact that Dolphins went ahead
and hired a by racial um head coach. I think
really put something changes in that lawsuit and we'll see
what happens. Look Like you said, if he feels like
he's getting slighted, um, so be it. Hunt behind him
a hundred percent. But I do think it kind of
changes things a little bit. All right, when we come back,

(13:19):
let's hit the news. Is there still even a news
feed anymore? Is there an a p wire back in
the news room. Let's get the ticker tape. Let's get
the latest on the news E day in the NFL
with our man, Matt Verder. And plus we've got numbers
and angles to get into with the Super Bowl. It's
all coming up with Annie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio.

(14:25):
on Fox Sports Radio, Bobo's on the Wheels of Steel,
Danny g back running the show tonight, Steve Disagre on
updates were punt to be joined by one of our faves,
Matt Verdan fan exited. Super Bowl Week kicks off, but
obviously the coaching carouselos on fire. Let's start with Arnie's
new coach. Matt, what do you think of the Mike
McDaniel hire and how do you think it will work?

(14:47):
I like it. I think he's good. I think he's
a smart guy, random run scheme for a long time. Um, look,
I think he's well respected around the league. I was
down a mobile to AS week and I remember asking
for me in the league on Monday And what even
happens with the Dolphins and Scott McDaniel. So I think

(15:07):
this has been kind of working into into form for
a while. I don't think this comes as a shock.
When the Niners hired Anthony and Lynn, it seemed like
they at that point new or preparing to lose the game.
And I think it's good hired for the Dolphins. Look,
you know a young guy, um that whole tree of
you know McGray and Sanahan and um floor and Taylor,

(15:32):
It's worked for really well. So I think the Dolphins
had a good heart. Does that mean he had to
be pro toa right, There's there's no changing that. If
he wasn't pro TUA, he never would have been hired.
I'm guessing, well, let's prow to it for now. I mean,
you know, well let's be honest, like you know this
talking to people around the league is gonna be so

(15:53):
fascinating because dispictation. Of course, the stuff can change minute
a minute. Patification. Now, is Russell Wilson's gonna be on
the block? We all know Jimmy Garoppol is gonna be
on the block? Um is Aaron Rodgers gonna be on
the block? That that seems to be kind of the
one that you can't get a real feel for um,
some people that you will be, some people that you

(16:13):
all be. Uh, Deshaun Watson, of course there's a lot
to impact there. But um, if he comes onto the block,
you know, is Miami still his preferred destination? So I
think for now, if you're Madaniel, you have to go
into an operating enter the idea to attack on my
loaves the quarterback. But um, that can change, and that
could change quickly depending on how the off season shakes

(16:34):
up in your mind. How and I know this is
very early, so we got a long way to get there.
But how crazy will the quarterback carousel be? You think?
Will we see? Well, we know Garoppolos on the move
and Deshaun Watson, something eventually has to happen. But the
Derek Carrs of the world you mentioned, the Russell Wilson's,
the Aaron Rodgers. How insane could this truly get? It

(16:58):
could get very insane. And here's why. Look you I
have all these veteran quarterbacks who I think there's a
chance that they move right Like I don't think car
will move. Um, I don't think Matt Ryan or Kirk
Cousins will move. While you hear some of that. Um,
but the other guys we just talked about are all
real possibilities. It's not probabilities depending on which guy we're mentioning.

(17:21):
And here's you the part of it. It's so key
to this. The draft is not good for quarterbacks this year.
I'm yet to find one person the league who has
said to me, yes, I love this clash, like if
I nobody Now, I think the league will has really
really helped themselves down in Alabama. You talk to people
about Kenny Pickett, they feel like he's interviewed really well.

(17:44):
He's a guy who at least at least showed two
flashes down at the Senior Bowl. Um, I could see
two to three quarterbacks going in the first I would
be shocked if Willis stunn't go Corral and ticket to Go,
I'd be surprised that anybody else does. But I don't
think anybody looks at Aose guys and feel like they're
Joe Burrow. They're justin Herbert there, at least not right away.

(18:04):
So because of that, these teams that have these veteran
guys are gonna get a lot for them because there's
gonna be a bidding war. So if you're gonna trade him, like,
now is the time to I actually think the Packers like,
I think this is a year where Rodgers actually might
look at the NFC and go, this is great. I've
actually prefer to come back. I could see the Packers saying,

(18:24):
you know what, Aaron, We're good, but we're gonna trade
you now because we can get three first and two
seconds and a player and we're never gonna get that again.
So I could see a lot of movements. Maddie is
surprised the way it went down with Harbon and the
whole Minnesota thing, and he would crawl back to Michigan
and then lose his offensive coordinator or complete mets right now,

(18:46):
you know, yeah, no no question. Um. Look, I I
wasn't surprised at how that went. It seemed like he
was gonna end up in the Minnesota and then all
of a sudden, last minute, it kind of you know,
changes connin ends up going the Internet, to the ball,
the ocean, the rams. Um. Look, I told him right afterwards,
actually just stands writing about this for tomorrow's Calm Aspect

(19:07):
the Box and fansided. Um. I said that he said
to Mitch Albums with the Detroit Free Press afterwards, like,
you know what, Um, that's the last time you'll ever
hear me link to an NFL job beyond the Michigan man.
I mean have paraphrasing based on all that kind of thing.
That's such a load of crap. Like he gets a

(19:28):
call next year with a big enough check attached to it.
He's clearly got the NFL edge. He's fifty eight years old.
You know he could go coach in the NFL for
a decade. Um never wanted superl I wonder if by
beating Ohio State and winning the Big Ten, if he
kind of just feels like, Okay, I you know I did,

(19:48):
I played the dragon. I do what I wanted to do.
I think we're gonna see him in the NFL sooner
rather than later, just not in Minnesota. Do you have
a handle on what's going on in Houston right now?
I mean, is this the situation where Love he has
been a sneaky key candidate for this all along and
we just never saw her. It was never reported or
was this kind of a last minute gasp for Houston guys.

(20:11):
I'd be lying to you if I said that I
had a great handle on Houston because I don't I
don't think Houston has a great handle on Houston that
is as fly by night of an organization as you
can get. I have a really hard time. I can't
prove this, but I have a really hard time believing
that Lovey Smith has been a top candidate all along.
I can tell you right now, I spent the entire

(20:33):
week around and involved with the NFL intimately downtomobile. I
did not hear a Lovely Smith's name come up once
with anybody, like reporters, people in the league. You name it, like,
nobody talked about Lovey Smith as being a guy now
becauld That's just be a detections just have this thing

(20:53):
so well on the rats that nobody can figure that out.
I highly doubt it. This seems like mccount's and there guy.
But now it's like, well, can they actually hire some
zero head coaching experience then in the front floor A so,
of course right now is bring them all star against NFL?
That complicated. I just think the Texans a lot like

(21:16):
last year and they hired Cully after striking out elsewhere.
I think it's kind of one of these things. They're
just looking at it going, well, we gotta hire somebody.
What are we gonna do? And maybe it's option number
three here at this point, Matt, you obviously saw this
Cincinnati team, um handle your Kansas City team not once
but twice? Does the clock strike midnight for the Bengals?

(21:38):
Or are there for real? And this is gonna be
a really good one? How do you see this one?
They're for real? I mean, I certainly respect them. Um,
I gotta say, though, I don't think I'm gonna be
alone in this prediction. I just have I had a
hard time seeing them winning this game. Like they can't
block and against the Rams that's just a death sense.

(21:59):
Like if you can't block Donald and Floyd and Miller,
if you're gonna you're gonna pay the price for that,
and and Ramsey can guard Chase And it just turns
into one of these things where I also wanted to
and maybe this is the case, but it certainly could be.
Like the Bengals have so many great young players, but

(22:20):
they're young, like Chases of Rookie Burroughs said, you here, guy,
you know, young and dumb kind of could be a
good thing at times. And also how much urgency do
you have in this game, because it has not been
a ten year wait for you, it has been for
Stafford McVey has gotten there and lost, and it's a
heart adage to get back. Ramsey has been waiting years,

(22:42):
Beckham has been waiting years. All these guys on the Rams,
there's so many of them they have tasted through bull
disappointment that have waited for so long. I just I
think this sets up very well for the Rams. But
you'd be nuts to count out Cincinnati, who look dead
in the water. One he went to three in Kansas
City and came back and won the football game, So

(23:04):
you have to respect him. But I do think the
Rams have a lot of advantage game. Hey, Matt, we'll
let you go on. This storyline is obviously leading up
to the Super Bowl will be numerous. But does the
Aaron Rodgers move kind of star our potential move? Does
that take over a lot of the storylines early in
the week or do you think that he's sticking at
Green Bay regardless? What do you think? Well, you know,

(23:26):
like I said, I actually get to a scenario that
this time around where he says I would mind sticking
around and the Packers got well, I don't know you know,
I remember publicly that they're all in on it. But
does that change the three first and a second because
it might, you know, at some point you gotta move on.
I don't know there's got will dominate Super Bowl Week.

(23:49):
I think it's dominates Group Bowl week? Is the is
the fourth that is going to be something that the
Dell gets asked about NonStop. The coaches and players get
asked about that, and look, I think you know rightfully.
So there's gonna be a lot of questions at Goodell
and he's gonna have to answer for it. After they

(24:09):
came out and said right after the Losser Cup following Tuesday,
they came out almost immediately and said it without married
and then over the weekend Goodell saying well, we've absolutely
got to do better with all these different things that
Florence pointed out. It's not good and if in the NFL,
it's gonna be front and center all week long. Yeah,

(24:30):
check out the college tomorrow on fan side. And he's
Matt verder M every Sunday with us here on Fox
Sports Radio. I have a good night, man, Thanks for
ranging with us. Thanks Matt, good stuff. Matt verder M,
All right, Tons, to get to your tweets are awesome,
But first Steve t Saker comes rolling in. What's up,
Steve plenty, That's what's up. We'll start with the Olympics
because Toronto Star is saying that the women's hockey game

(24:52):
between Canada and Russia in Beijing is not yet started
because apparently the Russian team has not sent their COVID
test resul. It's to the Canadians and the Canadians will
not take the ice until they do. The Russian women
were in quarantine earlier in the Olympics. They have played
since then. Tomorrow night our time, the US women is
due to play Canada. This is just going to be

(25:13):
a round robin game. Both will advance in this tournament.
Russia has won figure skating team event, the US took silver.
That was just moments ago. Did you see a p
reporting today that Mike Tarico's coming back from Beijing after
tomorrow night and he's not going back to Beijing. The
original plan was he was just going to be in
l a for Super Bowl weekend. It's the same network,

(25:34):
and then he was going to go back. Now he's
coming back to the States earlier and not going back
to Beijing after Super Bowl weekend. Also, in case you
didn't see, the Winter Olympics Opening ceremony averaged on NBC
about fourteen million viewers this week. That's the live, early
morning and the prime time combine fourteen million viewers, which

(25:55):
is half of what it got four years ago when
it was about twenty eight million for the Winter Open ceremony.
In fact, it was up to thirty two million four
years before that. For the Winter Opening ceremony. They got
a replacement Tonga guy that walked in in twenty five
degrees shirtless. It's Friday. Uh yeah, it would would have

(26:17):
been good for public consumption. Men's downhill is tonight and
they are underway after yesterday's postponement due to high winds.
Although the first four skiers go down the mountain, two
did not finish, so that's not good. But the next
five that have gone down the hill have been able
to finish and at least posted time tonight, So the
men's downhill is underway at the Olympics. Keep in mind

(26:37):
it's literally all artificial snow for the outdoor events at
these games, and competitors are saying, you don't want to
fall on this stuff. It gets icy, it's much harder.
It hurts more when you land. As for the NFL
that Miami Dolphins new head coaches Mike McDaniel, who was
forty Niners offensive coordinator this past season. His background He's
from Colorado. Got an internship with the Denver Broncos in

(27:01):
two thousand five when Mike Shanahan was there, and when
Gary Kubia left for the Houston Texans, he became an
offensive assistant under Kubiak two thousand six. When Mike Shanahan
was with Washington about a decade ago, he became offensive
assistant there. When Kyle Shanahan was in Atlanta. This guy
worked with him there. When Kyle Shanahan got the San

(27:22):
Francisco job, he got a job there. Was their run
game coordinator and then one year as offensive coordinator in
the booth. Mike McDaniel, former wide receiver at Yale, turns
thirty nine next month and yes, his dad and grandmother
are black. He identifies as by racial He was chosen
over Dallas offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. There are two remaining
head coaching vacancies in the league, including Houston, which has

(27:44):
talked to its own defensive coordinator Levey Smith and New Orleans,
which has already talked to its defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.
The other Saints news tonight that running back Alvin Camara
was arrested in Las Vegas four battery after the Pro Bowl.
The press release from Las Vegas Police is that yesterday
officers were sent to a local hospital a person was

(28:06):
reporting a battery. The victim had said there was a
battery at a nightclub on the Strip, and the investigation
determined the victim was battered. Later the suspect identified as
Alvin Kamara of the Saints. He was taken into custody
without incident today transported to a detention center where he
was booked for battery resulting in substantial bodily harm end

(28:29):
quote Joey Leganto one NASCAR's clash at the l A Colosseum,
Kyle Bush finished second, and in the NBA the late
game goes to Milwaukee beating the Clippers one thirty seven,
one thirteen more on the NASCAR Just because this comes
up throughout the twelve months of the show. Sometimes there's
some the sports story that's really not about that sport.

(28:50):
This is one of those. What they held on Fox
today inside the l A Coliseum. Was kind of amazing
that they pulled it off today. Put a small quarter
mile asphalt oval racetrack constructed over the football field, saying
that the grass underneath should not be damaged. Well, we'll
find out, I guess. First they put a thick plastic

(29:11):
barrier down on the field level of the stadium, and
then plywood on top, so you've got a hundred thirty
thousand square field field protection. Then some fabric on top
of that to prevent slipping, they said, and then the
crushed base the fill, and then asphalt on top. And
that covered everything they had to from two other Southern
California's tracks get on loan the walls and the fence
catch fences and the safer barriers that they use. There

(29:34):
was If you saw this, you realized there was not
enough space on the field or on the track for
the normal pick boxes. There were no live pit stops
in this race. They just had a scheduled halftime break
for the cruise and a concert at halftime. I looked
about this. Tickets at the nosebleed section were about seventy
dollars for adults, only about twenty dollars for kids. Seating
capacity was down about sixty thousand. They listed attendance at

(29:57):
about fifty thousand. So the other coliseum next door to USC,
which is not only hosted USC football over the decades,
but also to summer Olympics. NASCAR was gonna light the
Olympic cauldron near the scoreboard before the race. But now
this refirmished stadium has had this event as well. It
had the first Super Bowl, including the undefeated Dolphins Super
Bowl in the nineteen seven on the four oh five

(30:19):
during the hour traffic slightly slower speeds. That stadium hosted
a World Series, remember, because Dodger Stadium hadn't been built yet.
Nineteen fifty World Series of Dodgers White Sox was there
and that attendance record will never be broken, but it
was a strange site. A quarter mile surface in l
A is now the shortest in history for a Cup

(30:41):
Series race. By comparison Daytona, it's two and a half
miles per lap. This is a quarter mile was a lap.
So this opening exhibition has been at Daytona and Florida
every time since they started at nineteen seventy nine. So
kudos to somebody in NASCAR. I think it's the great
grandson of the founder who actually is forward thinking, trying
to get us out of our rut and see if

(31:02):
we can pull it off. They certainly did today. Congrats,
thanks Steve. By the way, the ice Cube concert was awesome.
Af it was awesome. It was great. By the way,
before the before the raised pit Bull, before the bull
was great. Pit Bull was great. Everything was great. NASCAR King,
let's talk about the short track seven seven ninety nine
on Fox and the next gen car, the next Gin car,

(31:23):
which broke for a few people. Hey, maybe we need
some clarifications here because I don't like angry Twitter. So
first of all, authentic Allen Mike McDaniel is by racial
His father is black, his mother is white. So you
can post a picture of him he's he's and say
I don't see how this believe. He growing up said yeah,

(31:47):
I would look in my family photos and feel like, man,
I am, I don't belong here exactly. Uh. And then
politically petty g W which is quite the screen name,
hitch us up and rights hold up? Did your jet
your guests just to say he quote heard nobody talking
about Lovey Smith, but at the same time said quote
heard plenty of talk about McDaniels. What the hell did

(32:10):
I miss something? But I believe Lovey has coaching experience
and has been to the Super Bowl. Hashtag media bias.
Now listen, dude, that that's a dumb hashtag. Number one. Secondly,
he was talking about as it pertains to the head
coaches job for Texans as opposed to the head coaching
job for the Dolphins. Mike McDaniel had gone through a

(32:32):
but we've defined nine to ten hour interview. Uh. Again,
I need two meals in that. But he had been
talked about as the leading candidate there, and I think
he had talked with one other team, maybe it was Minnesota. Uh,
Lovey Smith, who I've got no problem with Lovey Smith.
I mean, he had a great run in Chicago, didn't
go so well the second time around in his two

(32:53):
years at Tampa where he won eight games in two years. Uh,
And he got Illinois to a bowl game, and they
had been to a bowl game in a while. So
I'm not here to hate on love Smith. But if
you don't believe his hiring is out of left field,
then you haven't been paying attention, at least not the favorite.
Let's put it at least give us that, you know
what I mean, But you're right, Blake, I didn't hear
his name being mentioned like the top two or three

(33:16):
coaches out there. And by the way, that's from Paul
who writes hanging with Kamara in Vegas is still much
safer than hanging out with that trouble making goof Arnie
span Your at Stinkingenius month. That is true. Now, speaking
of the arrest tonight one, Alvin Kamara, we have some
of the disturbing details coming in as we speak, and

(33:38):
Twitter is on fire. I'm trying to calm you guys
down a little bit, but when we come back, we'll
hit the best at Stinkingenius one. I'm at Plank Show,
and everybody should be following us at Fox Sports Radio.
It's Arnie and Plank on a Fox Football Sunday. At
Arnie and Plank on a Fox Football Sunday, Fox Sports
Sunday with only the Pro Bowl? Do you watch the

(34:00):
Pro Bowl? But very little? Very little? I mean I
was so bored I couldn't I couldn't keep myself entertained today,
and I'm thinking to myself, how am I gonna keep
listeners of the tade on the radio when I couldn't
even keep myself entertained for one day without football. You know, um,
I got a couple of tweets on it. Tony writes
the game was a joke. I did not watch after

(34:21):
finding out it was a practice in uniform. If I
paid to see it, I would have been upset. Players
seem to have a good time, but I'm done with
calling it a game. I think that's fair. Uh. Someone
also said that they would take a sanide pill if
we started talking about the Pro Bowl. So I'll readjust
our focus because I don't want to lose anyone gets

(34:42):
good ratings. Everybody keeps shoving down my throne, So what
the heck? You know? Yeah? Um, interesting about that. Well
we'll get to some of the ratings talk. But yeah,
I guess it'll be the highest rated show on TV
this weekend. Right, So if that, if that's what you're
going for. Did you see a rosmore Kazi's note about
ticket prices. I found that to be very frustrating. If

(35:04):
speaking of if I had paid to go the the
get in price, like the upper deck prices were nine dollars,
but the range for tickets was to five and twenty
five dollars for now. Again, it's it's Veg guess, so
you're still kind of growing the game a little bit
in Vegas for the home team. I just I wish

(35:25):
she could have made it a little bit more affordable
for everyone. Chris. When I when I was in Arizona
and I was doing mornings, Um, we were doing a
giveaway with one of the casinos and we gave away
a trip to the Pro Bowl with me Um and
ten couples. We all got a flight up Hawaii and
we all went to the Pro Bowl. Did you go? Oh? Yeah,

(35:52):
I went. Why I went to Hawaii? But I blew
up the Pro Bowl. I went, I took I couldn't
take my wife, which was my girlfriend at the time,
but she was busy, so I took my buddy, Keg.
And Keg and I went out, and the other TED
couples went out, and the other TED couples like paid
to stay there for like two weeks, but we were
there for Nobody went to the game. Everybody went to

(36:12):
do their old thing and they played golf and stuff
like that. Not one person said, well, I can't wait
for this game. They just went do whatever they wanted
to do. But that was like even during the time
when the game was actually still kind of competitive, getting
well I kind of mattered and they played that random stadium.
Which is that stadium still around by the way, jeez,
I don't know. I don't think it might have been condemned.

(36:34):
Where's Jonas knocks. Here's our Hawaii right, So anyway, I
don't have much for you from the Pro Bowl. I
thought it was funny with Kyle Pitts tweeted where he said,
I finally got a touchdown on American soil. I didn't
realize he's only touchdown came in the NFL game that
was overseas, and I would I thought he had more

(36:54):
than one touchdown this year too. But kudos to Kyle Pitts.
I guess all right, let's get to this. Let's get
real quick to wrap up our number one on this
Alvin Kamaras story. The report from TMZ and listen, it's
more than a TMZ report. The Las Vegas Police Department
sent out to release um. He was jailed in the
Clark County Jail and booked on a charge of battery

(37:16):
resulting in serious bodily injury. Las Vegas Metro p d
S officers who are dispatched to a local hospital at
five pm on Friday, which is what's Saturday, because the
sixth today for a person who has reported getting battered
at a local nightclub. After investigating, cops determined Kamara was

(37:38):
allegedly the guy who doled out the beating. Now again,
battery with substantial bodily injury is a felony, so if convicted,
he could spend some time behind bars. What a story.
I mean, we don't know how bad the injury was,
what happened, what was how the whole thing started. So,

(37:58):
I mean, really it's kind of hard to the comment
on this, but I'm curious to see how the details
are gonna unfold after this. I mean, we gotta see
how this whole thing played out. Yeah, he um, he
made four catches for twenty three yards in the Pro
Bowl and after the game he was taken into custody.
How about that? On the latest report from NFL al R,
actually from Adam Schefter. His representatives nor the Saints immediately

(38:22):
responded to a request for comment. He's still in jail
with a five thousand dollar bond and a court hearing
is scheduled for Monday afternoon and Danny Sinish, by the way, correct,
I was correcked a lower stadium closed to new events.
You're welcome. Who needs Jonas Knocks to bring on all

(38:42):
things Hawaii? Yeah, they have thirty million dollars in renovations
that are needed. What are they doing. They're just gonna
They're gonna ignore it and be like, you know, we'll
get to that eventually and just let it crumble. Uh,
so real quick. I don't think that this is one
of those cut him right away situations. And we don't
know what you're right, Arnie. We don't know what the
bodily harm looks like. We know that, and by the way,

(39:05):
I don't mean that, and I need to see who
he beat up. But we don't understand what all went
into it. We don't know the story behind it. But
we do know right now he's arrested, he's in jail,
and we're just waiting from something, for something from either side. Right,
That's all we can really tell you, right Well, I mean,
obviously it's every hour something new comes out, so um,

(39:25):
I'm sure more and more will come out by Monday
and Tuesday, we'll see exactly what started this thing. Yeah,
um so in the meantime, will continue to monitor it.
De Sager is all over it. We don't think it's
gonna end up being a situation that leads to him,
you know, knee jerk getting cut right away. But this
is I mean, even though he battled a few injuries

(39:46):
this year already, this is still one of the premier
backs in the league. Of course, this is one of
your superstars if you're the NFL. So disturbing news tonight
on Alvin Kamara arrested for battery in Las Vegas, allegedly
beat up a person in a nightclub the night before.
He is currently in jail, arrested after the Pro Bowl today,

(40:07):
So we'll keep an eye on this story and monitor
throughout the night. Alright, when we come back, we're hitting
back Twitter at Plank Show at Stinking Genius one and
a Fox Sports Radio plus. Are you digging Some of
the props are out there right now. You have to go,
I love it. I love it some basketball player props
versus in the FL player props. And oh yeah, we

(40:28):
are heading to Vegas with Todd Ferman next hour. One
of the books, our two next it's already in Plank
on Fox Sports Radio. All Right, all right, our to
and Plank, let's go with Bobo running the show, Danny
g and Steven Seager on updates and the millions and
millions behind the scenes editing. Let's go ahead and break

(40:50):
some big news here, aren't. We got the call this
week and for what I came up with is the
seventh straight Super Bowl. You and I will be on
the quote unquote call for the Super Bowl this Sunday
here on Fox Sports Radio. In other words, you have
a lot of options that um who has just CBS

(41:14):
at the super Bowl of the time. Yeah, you have
a lot of options for how you can watch and
where you can watch. But um, we got you right
here with analysis, stats, props, all kinds of fun things. Right,
Steve always goes by real quickly, So early people early
for these two gems on the air next Sunday because

(41:34):
it's Super Bowl and then Coveno and Rich afterwards, is
what I hear. But it is for two reasons. NBC.
First off, because they have the Olympics. They asked to
have this year's Super Bowl. I think they traded with
CBS that way they can have Olympic Sunday morning than
the long pregame show and after the postgame show. Hope
people stick around for the Olympics because it'll be by
then Monday, the next day they can have something live

(41:56):
from Beijing. The other thing notable is guess whose contrast
with NBC is up after next Sunday's game. Al Michael
al Michaels, who is going to be tying the record
of the late past summer all most Super Bowls by
a lead announcer in television. This will be his eleventh,
but after next weekend, at age seventy seven, he will
be a free agent. Says he doesn't know what to do.

(42:17):
We do know. For years now they've had Mike Tarico signed,
took over for Bob Costas as Olympic host, ready to
take over for al Michaels on Sunday Night Football. The
last item on this is who has Thursday Night Football
next season? It's Amazon Prime exclusively. They paid a bazillion
dollars for that, and people are wondering, okay, so that

(42:39):
they're gonna pay up to get an al Michael's or
a Troy Aikman or somebody on their Thursday games. All
that's to be decided in the off season. Why do
I think it was on CBS? Does this show you
how little I watch commercials? I mean, I thought, if
you're Amazon, you're gonna want to get out Michaels. But
I've always said this before. You're not tuning into a
game based on who the announcer. But isn't that right

(43:00):
for Tony Romo? Yeah? But but but exactly. But you
you do want to get some credibility right off the bat,
and that's a good way to start things on. Amazon
has already raised its prices. By the way, for Amazon,
don't tell my wife that. Don't don't let her know
what has he said? What a month from a hundred
dollars a year? Yeah, you're scared me there because if

(43:20):
that was a month, you know my one thousand? Hey,
right off, that's right off pay But I think that
might let's think about it. We're paying for Amazon Prime,
we're playing for Netflix or Hulu, Disney Plus for ESPN.
Clearly no one is paying for Peacock because a discussion
during the Olympics, it's like everything is not Discovery Plus.

(43:42):
Do you guys have Discovery plots? No? But I have
the free trial for Peacock. I gotta get Paramount because
Halo's coming to Paramount exactly, and they got all the
South parts. Do you have Apple TV? I do not
have an iPhone product Bobo. Do you have app Art? Sorry,
you just said it already? Do you have Apple already? Desert?
I don't know what I have after listening to all that,
don't even know what a rabbit? I think that's what

(44:05):
I've come to the conclusion. I think because this is
a really technical geek. Are you the rabbit ears? You
can get the digital channels? Right? Hd Arnie still uses
this on as a remote control, the box where it's
connected to the TV, and I just in the button.
He stays on the couch and he wants a remote

(44:26):
control to find his remote control. That's why he got married, exactly.
I mean literally anything I might say, hey, can you
My favorite conversation I still have with Harney every year
is because of whatever cable he has, of its spectrum
or affinity or what we know it. Okay, there you go, like, hey,

(44:47):
can you pause your TV? So that way we could
all sync up. It would make this really fun if
all of us can go all right, well, next Sunday,
next Sunday, For example, Steve, great point, we all all right,
here we go three two, one, boom hit play, there
we go. We're all the same. I don't know how
to do that. I have no idea. Thanks for reminding me,
dear Scott Shapiro. Right, it's the most frustrating thing everybody.

(45:11):
And the worst part is I mean in Bobo, Danny, Steve,
you guys can attest this. It's not like you really
tell us what's going on. You'll just go, oh, exactly,
Oh no, there's a preview of the Super Bowl show
with you two right there. Use Arnie's voice and say, oh,
I can't believe that, believe that what So he's one
play ahead and it doesn't actually do any of us

(45:32):
any good. I'm ahead of the suit. I'm ahead of
the game itself. They don't know that. You know, you
could if you really really wanted to, you know, you
could have played this a little bit sharper and started
to say things like, man, I really wouldn't be surprised
if they were in an instant. In other words, you
could be the next Tony Romo who sees the guys
starting in motions, say they gotta run motion here we

(45:53):
all saw it here. I see that the single coverage
use Kiddle over the he just started his route. We
see it. Um Arnie doesn't use players names. He says
he he caught it and he exactly exactly. Well, um, listen,
we got a lot to get to on Twitter. But
I did find this over under that I wanted to

(46:16):
pose to you. I've I've got a new follow for
you all on Twitter. Sports handicapper. We'll try to get
him on the show, is you know we get into
the summer. Big college basketball guy. His Twitter handle is
at mid major Matt all right, he's your kind of guy,
are Because he was digging through some of the over
unders and he found this. One of the over unders

(46:37):
it caught his eye was kickoff returns. The prop was
over under five and a half kickoff returns between the
two teams, um, which seems like a lot, it does.
I was gonna say, I thought to give me like
one and a half or something like. Well and it
and it was down to four and a half at

(46:58):
Caesar's and he had this number. The Rams have played
fourteen indoor games this year. Thirteen of them went under
the total, which is wild to think in a seven
team games season and then three playoff games right that
they've played. Of their twenty games, fourteen of them have
been indoors. That seems wild to me. Uh, their kicker

(47:21):
of his indoor kicks or touchbacks, and that seems like
a low number to me. In the NFL overall, the
Bengals played two indoor games this year. Two both went
over with five total returns in each. So again it's

(47:43):
one of those interesting little numbers to keep an eye on.
McPherson is fifty percent touchbacks indoors, but sixty three point
nine percent outdoors. So there's a little inside football for you.
On a prop, Arnie, what do you think it convinced
me one way or the I don't know. I don't
like that one, you know, I know if it's four

(48:04):
and if it was not. If it was four, maybe,
but do you throw that hook on there, then I don't.
I certainly didn't like over five and a half. Um
maybe four and a half, But I'm not too enthused
in that one either. I did get all caught up
in the the the props that include something that happens

(48:25):
say in the game the other sports or no, did
I say in the game I should be fired a
prop that involves something in the game, you stupid. Where
else would that happen then in the game? Yes, thank you, Arnie.
The props that obviously have something to do with maybe
other sports, and there seems to be a lot that

(48:49):
is in line with what NBA games that are out
there right now. Like I saw the over under for
passing yards actually the over for passing yards or the
over for trade young points. I feel like these would
become a little bit played out though, am i am?
I just spoiled that. We have player props all the
time now. No, I still like those, so I mean
that that that seems to get a lot of play

(49:11):
on it. But I never get tired of those, and
I never get tired of like the that national anthem
over on this one. By the way, this one is
really low. Um. I love what a minute in thirty
five seconds or something like that. So that's that's a
low and I can't take the other th that. But
I love the team props. I I eat that stuff up.
That's where you you find the most mistakes and stuff
like that. That's right. So we'll talk to Todd Ferman

(49:32):
about that coming up here in just a minute? All right?
What do you say we hit some tweets? Do you like?
Get the anthem over on? There a minute and a half.
That's that's a that's a low number there. You know,
I forget who's doing the anthem mickey guiton. Um, I
think the over might be in play. I need somebody
to ruin it for me, like we have like the
last five or six years right where who was wasn't it? Um?

(49:53):
Wasn't it Darren Revel who got everyone all mad about
it last year? I propped it out there. Yeah. Yeah,
they had actually taped it while they were listening to
it outside of the stadium. I wonder if we could
get away with something like that. It's some way. I
like heads over tails too, if it's shot. Are you
a believer in tails never fails or no? I think heads? Actually,
I think it's been proven that heads weighs a little bit,

(50:16):
the headside weighs a little bit more. Um. That's or
the tail sideways a little bit more. That's why I
always lands on that side. Um. I I just I'm
trying not to get sucked in on some stupid people
on Twitter. But I know I'm going to end up
doing it get sucked in. Go ahead, Well, if you
post a picture of Mike mccarth Mike McDaniel and you're

(50:36):
minimizing the fact that he's from a mixed race family,
I really think you're part of the problem. And like,
for instance, this politically petty GW tweets, as with the
picture of Mike McDaniel, Hey, Eric Bienemy, love E Smith,
Jim Caldwell, Aaron Glenn Byron Leftwich to Miko who, by
the way, to Mico Ryan pulled himself out of all

(50:57):
the jobs Environ left, which had the Jaguar job, and
why he's he said, I want to have a different
general manager. So they both probably could have had jobs.
And Mike Tomlin, come meet your brother from another mother,
Mike McDaniel. Fritz Paulard just turned over in his grave. Man,
what an a hole you are, dude. You have no
idea the plight that Mike McDaniel probably had to go through, right,

(51:18):
And Steve the Sager told the story about looking at
the pictures from when he was growing up. I mean,
that's just even whenever you take a step forwards, for
some people it's like, well that's not enough, that's and
I understand Eric b Enemy should be a head coach. Uh,
Jim Caldwell should probably still be a head coach. I
think Byron Leftwitch is going to eventually be a head coach,
But to take a shot at Mike McDaniel because he's

(51:41):
I don't know what, he's too light skinned. What are
we doing, Arnie, what what's the point of that? Well,
that's that's just ridiculous. It's just uh, the fact that
it's some more than one person that she brought that
up also, So I'm actually shocked when I see that
come out. I didn't pay any attention to it, but
it just shots. Yeah, it's just I don't I don't understand.

(52:04):
It's I listen, it was funny. I saw Mike Freeman
bring this up, and I like Mike Freeman a lot,
and he said it's gonna be a very divisive issue,
and I've realized that it has because that's a world
that I'm not familiar with, right, and I'll just me,
I'm gonna fight for everyone's right and I want to
see the right thing done. But to minimize Mike m McDaniel,

(52:25):
I just I don't get that, and I don't think
if you really stop and have a conversation with yourself.
You're not helping him, You're hurting him in the end.
But let's get to some better tweets. But I don't
know if this is better or not. Would you rather
be in jail or play for the Saints right now?
Tough Call'd rather play for the Saints, but barely fairly,

(52:49):
just because they have they have a better meal program
that I'm sure the prison has out there. It's it's
it's it's going to be a big time rebuild their
Oh my goodness, it's it's not like the Saints of
the last to three years ago. Uh Leoni's right. You're
gonna love your new coach Artie, especially at the podium.
I'm a Niners fan and I hate to lose that personality,

(53:12):
let alone his coaching ability. You know, that's fine and dandy.
I just want to see the ws I. You know,
I really didn't get all caught up and the who
they were gonna hire his coach. It really didn't bother
me one way or the other. So I might just
get somebody in there. Let's just start winning. I I
never thought four as was should have been fired anyway.
A matter of fact, what you were doing is we're doing.
You know who's gonna stay, who's gonna go? I had

(53:34):
dam staying for sure. I never even occurred to me
they were gonna fire before they pulled the trigger. Are you,
as I say, stan Um, let me go ahead and
I and I less make this less hip? Are you
down with wanting to keep two around? In other words,
when you step back and you look at kind of
the way things look future wise for the Dolphins? Are

(53:54):
you okay with investing and trying to fix TWA? I'm okay.
Only one other person I want over tour right now.
That'd be Aaron Rodgers. That doesn't mean I wouldn't want
Burrow or something like that, So don't you know, mrs
uh through what I'm saying, But just realistically, the only
person I mean, yeah, Jimmy G's available, but I I
wouldn't want to take Jimmy G over tour right now.

(54:15):
I'd rather go ahead and work on toa UM. So no,
I you know, even if car became available or whatever,
the only person I would want is Rogers over tour
right now. And then nature Boy writes and he bets
on how many dying quails Stafford will throw on Sunday.
He definitely had one big one that was dropped last
week by Tart. I think we're making more so much

(54:36):
of that drop by Tart and than really, um there's
always like that, plays like that on both sides, Chris,
So during the course of the game, I thought they
were just making way too much of that one. All right,
when we come back, Todd Firm and it is live
in Vegas, we'll start talking props in the biggest handle
still in Vegas. Is it the super Bowl. We'll dive
into it all with you and Todd next on Fox

(54:57):
Sports Radio. All Right, it's one of the funniest weeks
at least has been in the gambling world. So joining
us right now is Todd Ferman. You hear him on
the bet to Board podcast on out Kick uh and
always one of our favorites on Sunday night. So with
the incredible explosion of you know, mobile gambling legalized and

(55:21):
others sports states, excuse me, Todd, is it's still as
big of a week for Vegas as it's always been.
With the Super Bowl, there's definitely a buzz out here.
There's no doubt that some folks and make an annual
pilgrimage out to Las Vegas to take full advantage of
a laundry list of prop offerings. Can decide to stay
closer to home, to your point, Chris, with everything going on,
but at the same time, the parties that you experience

(55:43):
out here in Vegas can't be rivaled in Louisiana, New
Jersey and some of the other spots across the country.
So unless you're gonna be in Los Angeles, Vegas is
a nice secondary option to take advantage of all the festivities.
Money has to be pouring in on on money bet
on this game, not with now, with all the options
out there, it's got to go through the roof right
break records. It's always interesting when you have legalized states

(56:04):
and obviously an increased microscope on sports gambling in general,
you figure records are made to be broken. Now. This game,
as far as it's star power and it's pedigree, not
going to rival that of some of Dallas Cowboys and
forty nine or site matchup when you're talking about the
Bengals and Rams, two teams that don't have fan bases
that are going to necessarily flock to the desert. So

(56:25):
we'll see what betting handle looks like. I haven't had
a chance to speak to guys around town and know
if they're pacing ahead of last year's numbers or exactly
where this number could be headed as far as overall
betting handle. But when you talk about the extensive offerings
like we discussed with props not just side uh side
and total available for the game, you'd hope that these
numbers continue to be absolutely massive. So with with that

(56:47):
in mind, I'm not asking to necessarily give away your play,
but it does it seem as if we're starting to
see a lot more money coming in on the Bengals.
It is Is it just a value play with where
the number was already? Is since that people kind of
like the idea of this being a tight game, No,
I think when you look at the way the playoffs
have gone, no reason to believe that this game will
break the mold as far as all of these games

(57:10):
kind of being decided by a field goal in a
variety of fashions. You look at Cincinnati and they've lived
a charm life throughout this postseason. All the talk is
about Joe Burrow, but I think they deserve a ton
of credit for some of the adjustments they've made in game,
you know, racing the eight team point deficit against the
Kansas City Chiefs to even get to this point. So
this number did get out to four and a half.
You're starting to see a little bit of buyback come

(57:30):
in on the underdog. But what I found fascinating, and
of course this can change over the next six to
seven days, is that about the tickets coming in on
Cincinnati taking the points. It's something five to seven years
ago you never would have anticipated where it's favorite or bust.
People want to bet the underdog on the money line.
We'll see if any of those betting trends change, but
it definitely shows that that's much more sophisticated sports betting

(57:53):
populous than what we would have had in this industry
years in the past. More important are they betting which
color gatorade is going be poured on the coach out there,
or or the national anthem or the coin flip ready
of that stuff there, todd Uh, Those are a lot
of those bets only available in certain jurisdictions. You know,
there are areas in the country where you can bet
the gatorade color legally. So we'll have to try and

(58:14):
see exactly which books are getting hit if it's clear,
which is become a trendy flavor slash color over the years,
and as far as the National Anthem ceremony, doesn't usually
start rolling on that until you go into rehearsals because
information tends to leak, and that's when that price will
either fly up or down based on what we anticipate
could be the length of Star Spangled Man Todd. What's

(58:37):
the difference between what are considered Vegas props and like
offshore props? In other words, you just mentioned linked gatorade,
those types of things, But when you'll see, oh, what's
gonna be the first song that's played at halftime? Or
those more exotics that are offshore, those things that you
guys will put on the board in Vegas to anything
typically entertainment related or phrases that you'll hear from the

(58:59):
announced there's those are things that you'll have to go
into the gray markets to try and find, typically legal jurisdictions,
whether it's Vegas, New York, New Jersey, what have you.
They prefer that something can be clearly delineated on a
box score, or that we know that there's an exact
result rather than creating that level of ambiguity that opens
itself up to you know, problems, complaints, and a variety

(59:21):
of other things that will come from not only players
but also the gaming control board. So if you see
stuff that's really off the wall, you know, over under
how many times Al michaels and make a reference to
a point spread. That's not something that you're gonna find
on the big board out here in the desert. Todd,
did somebody bet twenty dos and you hit the exact
score last week of both games? Yeah, there was a
story that came from FanDuel had a chance to verify it.

(59:43):
There was somebody It was actually a twenty dollar free
bet that they were able to put up there. They
landed the exact score in both of the conference championships,
paid north of a half a million. The interesting sideline
to that is the individual that that's tied to, I
believe is one of the higher profile investors that are
going to find not in the sports space but on
Wall Street. So his reputation precedes him in that. And

(01:00:05):
you do you do wonder the kind of mathematical model
permutations and obviously the luck you need to have that
but not bad to have a twenty dollar free role
that can turn into a half a million dollars. That's luck.
Don't tell that to Don't tell that to Arnie Chris.
He's been trying to land those kind of parlays for
the last fifty years of his life. I just take
the opposite of Mattress Smack. Whatever he's doing, I'm going

(01:00:26):
to opposite. You know, I don't know if you're gonna
have four and a half million dollars to pony up
on the rams, to go opposite Mattress Mac who seems
to be all in on the Bengals. But that's a
storyline that, while it was interesting when it first started,
I almost get the feeling that it's played itself out.
We know he's putting up promotions, he continues to find
the headlines. I give him credit taking full advantage of
the legal betting market then using it as a de

(01:00:47):
facto insurance policy. But at the same time, the amount
of buzzing fan for those storylines have created are starting
to get a little bit old. And you wonder if
Mattress Mack is on the fourteen minutes of his fifteen
minute the same, are you all right? Cross sport bets
lucrative or just pure entertainment. They can be a combination
of both. So obviously, if you feel you have an

(01:01:09):
edge and you're adept at handicapping other sports, you can
give yourself a substantial edge over sports books who put
them up typically as a novelty. But do understand the
professional betters with a level of sophistication, whether it's the
English Premier League, the NHL, the NBA or college basketball,
are going to try and take full advantage. I've had
a little bit of success with those in the past,

(01:01:29):
trying to figure out what would take place in a
marquee NBA game as far as points scored. There. Did
have a little bit of a bad beat last year.
I believe it was Man City in Liverpool, was a
big EPL match. Thought I had a rocking chair winner
and watch that bet blow up in my face? What
am I going to get for m v P? You know,
last time Pipe brought this up, I said, going von
Miller he was it was like what fifteen or twenty

(01:01:51):
maybe more than that? Um, maybe him again or Aaron
Donald or something like that or what. Yeah, I mean,
if you want to try and find a defensive player
on the board. We know how and free cuently that's
actually happened von Miller of course, being the last one
to do it for the Denver Broncos. I mean you'll
typically get prices sixteen and one at minimum. You should
actually be looking for a number even higher than that.
It's a quarterback driven award we've only seen four times

(01:02:12):
I think since two thousand six, non quarterbacks have taken
home the hardware. And that's why if you wanted to
bet the quarterbacks versus the field, you have to put
up three dollars in thirty cents just to make a dollar. No,
of course, if you want to bet one of the
two quarterbacks. Matthew Stafford at last check was a shade
better than even money at fan duel and Joe Burrow
a little bit better than backing the Bengals on the
money line right around plus two. Like it, I like,

(01:02:35):
where are you gonna watch next Sunday? What's your plans?
You know? I will be in the home office. Nothing
uh two out of the ordinary or sexy for me.
I have to be involved in a lot of pregame
coverage with the folks at CBS h Q, and most
likely will provide a halftime update. But like we talked
about weeks ago, it's oftentimes much easier to watch games
of this magnitude in peace and quiet. My dog tends

(01:02:56):
not to want to talk my ear off during the
course of the game. She's much more inclined to nat
for the better part of three and a half and
four hours, knowing that Dad's not going to move from
his favorite chair. Todd, do you have a favorite prop
you're you're sitting on or not? Nothing yet? You know,
digging into some of the player props. I'll do a
lot more heavy liftings there. I don't typically bet into
some of the openers. I know a lot of guys
that I work with do they want to try and

(01:03:18):
get the best of it, And I tipped my hat
for them coming willing and able to try and fire
into some of those player props. One number that I
did bet, though, was first score the game for the
Cincinnati Bengals. Not first score the game overall, but just
for the Bengals. Took a couple of good prices on
the Bengals to kick a field goal for their first score,
anywhere from plus three dollars on the high end down
into the plus one forty range. You look at some

(01:03:39):
of their red zone struggles and the fact that they've
only mustered five touchdowns through the first three games. I
wouldn't be shocked at all as Zach Taylor allows Evan
McPherson to have a crack anytime they get inside a
fifty five yards knowing the climate control conditions will have it.
So far, love it, Love it. Super Bowl a week
from today, Todd. We appreciate you man. Have a great
week leaping up to it. Always a pleasure, gentleman. You
guys the same, and try and stay sane. Never never

(01:04:02):
at Todd Ferman on Twitter. That's at Todd for him,
and as you mentioned, he's been all over and over
at CBS Sports dot Com. Alright, Steve D. Siger comes
rolling it. I think everything's a final, except for that
Olympic hockey game that has now started because apparently the
Russians did share their COVID results because after about an
hour delay, if you're unaware, Canada wasn't going to take
the ice until that happened, they have taken the ice.

(01:04:24):
After about an hour's delay, it started, and you know
Canada was going to beat them anyway. That's a great team,
but now they're ticked on top of that. So after
the first two and a half minutes to nothing Canada
over the Russians in women's hockey in Beijing. It's still
to zip in the first, but now I'm expecting something
along the lines of ten to one by the time.
This sins done tonight. By the way, it's tomorrow night,
our time, US women's hockey against Canada, but it's just

(01:04:47):
the round robin game as part of the tournament. Both
will advance. This is not for medals or anything this
week US women's hockey. This morning, our time, shoutout Switzerland
ate nothing outshot him sixty six to twelve, sixty six
shots in a sixty minute game. Meanwhile, at the Olympics,
US skier MICHAELA. Schiffrin was disqualified from tonight's giant slalom
after missing a gate early in the race. Russia won

(01:05:09):
figure skating team event, US took silver, and the men's
downhill is going after yesterday's postponement due to high winds.
Unfortunately for German skier Dominic Schweiger, he's been taken away
on a toboggan after falling during the downhill. Lost control,
fell on his back, slid down the mountain. At this
point they've gotten about thirty of the forty skiers down
the hill. Looks like they're gonna be able to finish

(01:05:30):
this event tonight. All on, of course, the artificial snow
outside Beijing. As for the NBA, the late game was
in l A and Milwaukee ripped the Clippers one thirty seven,
one thirteen. The Clippers record twenty seven and twenty eight.
As for the early game in the NBA, the Philadelphia
seventy sixers got forty points from Joel em beat. His
great season continues. They win at Chicago one oh eight

(01:05:54):
and to mar de rosen To. The Bulls had forty
five points in the loss. Denver beat Brooklyn oh four.
If you've not been paying attention to the nets, while
Kevin Durant has been out injured, Brooklyn has now lost
eight games in a row. This is a road game
Kyrie Irving played and they lost by twenty. Nicola yokits
a triple double. Cleveland beat Indiana. The Calves are acquiring

(01:06:15):
from the Pacers Carris Lavert, who's averaging nineteen points per game.
College basketball wins for Houston. Providence and Ohio State in
the top twenty. The Miami Dolphins new head coach Mike McDaniel,
who was forty Niners offensive coordinator. This past season, the
a f C won the Pro Bowl. Joey Logano took
NASCAR's Clash at the Coliseum. The golf winner at Pebble

(01:06:35):
Beach Tom Hogi. It's his first Tour victory. The guy
had had two hundred and two starts on the tour,
had been a runner up twice, but never actually won
a tournament. He wins Pebble Beach. That's over one and
a half million dollars for this one week of golf.
Jordan's b finished second two shots back. He earns nearly

(01:06:56):
one million dollars. Hogi grew up in North Dakota, played
golf at t see You, so he earns his first
trip to the Masters. Now it gets a two year
exemption until this year. His best season on the tour
was in FedEx Cup. And I saw this from a
p that the boys basketball single game scoring record in
Montana was broken twice. Here in the same week, a

(01:07:18):
guy for the top ranked team, a kid scored seventy
one points in a game. They won the game one
oh eight to seventy, so the kid had seventy one,
the opponent had seventy total. And then a few days later,
completely separate school, a kid had scored fifty one by
halftime and the coach said, I'm not gonna take this
opportunity away. You're staying in the game. He scores eighty

(01:07:39):
two points in a high school basketball game, the new
Montana Boys record. Unfortunately, it was in a game where
his team won one eleven to twenty seven. Just all right,
that Steve sa He's got another update coming up in
about ten minutes from now. In the meantime, let's hit
some tweets shall be the best way to get into

(01:08:00):
touch with the show is via Twitter at Plank Show
at stinkin Genius one. Uh, A lot of request for
your state of the Dolphins address, Arnie. With the hiring
of one Mike McDaniel tonight. Yeah, you know, I I
wasn't really only got expectations for anybody in particular. I was,
you know, open minded about who they were gonna hire

(01:08:21):
their coach. I never thought Flora should have been fired.
A matter of fact, I was shocked about that. We
brought that up. Um when you're asking me, you know
who stays who goes? And I I said, oh, for sure,
he'll stay for one more year. Considering what he did
in the second half of the year and that run
that he was on. UM, it goes to show you
that you have to be pro to at least I
think you do, unless something big opens up like an

(01:08:42):
Aaron Rodgers. I you know, it doesn't make me run
to the hills and say super Bowl. We'll go to
the super Bowl right now. But I don't think too
many coaches would have made me do that anyway. Obviously,
we'll see what he could do, and we'll see if
you can make two up. I'm better than what he
was on the floor is the last couple of years
that that's the big thing. If he make do a
better than the are already, he's gonna started at a

(01:09:03):
better place than four is the UM. A couple of
others here that listen. I'm Chinese here clear of any
conversations about the Wildcats because I don't want to lose.
Have you losing this evening, but congratulations on your Wildcats.
I've had a few people tag me to think you're coach,
and I could be doppelgangers. Do I told you that
you look just like him. My, I cannot confirm and

(01:09:26):
or deny that I have a long lost brother. That's court.
Put that up, put up a picture of plank and
uh and then and and put that upside by side.
I'm telling you you look just like him. I don't
even know your coach's name off the top of my head.
That shows you how much I've been paying attention to
college basketball this year. I listen, I've been all in
on h So Tommy Lloyd, let's see here. He's he's

(01:09:49):
in better shape than I am. I mean, he's obviously fit.
Well maybe not. It looks like you, you know, he's
got he's got a little bit going. I could I
could see some resemblance. He's a little bit smarter. Now,
I could probably take him in one on one, right,
isn't that what you would say? Hey? I saw you
have to sell out crowd the other night for a
women's basketball game too, for Arizona. Yeah, yeah, against was

(01:10:11):
it against Stanford? There? It was up at Stanford. Yeah,
they had us, They had a packed crowd for it. Uh.
And then Pete writes, I have a question about Arnie's
favorite subject, ratings. What do you believe the ratings will
be this year? Higher? Lower? Are about the same? I asked,
because do you believe NFL fans are ready for the
new generation or is it going to take some time?

(01:10:34):
It's always higher, Um. The only thing that makes it lower, obviously,
it's going to be the markets. Um, Look the average
or the casual sports fans watches the super Bowl because
it's the Super Bowl, So it really doesn't make a difference. Um,
who the teams are, what markets they come from. Uh,
look to us, we're gonna watch the matter. What for
the big time sports fans, it could be any two

(01:10:56):
teams in there. So I think the ratings are gonna
be a little bit fire, but but nothing earth shattering
or anything like that. I guess million viewers last year? Wow?
Um a hundred and one. Well, I guess that total
is even total viewers, that's just average viewers. So the
total viewers last year a hundred forty eight million. Oh no,
it's unknown. Last time, I'm sorry, a hundred forty eight

(01:11:18):
The year before a hundred forty nine. Yeah, it's gonna
draw the sounds like the average cost of a thirty
second ad Um. Was five point five mill last year.
Is it really worth it? Do you get your money back?
I guess uh, you do a lot of you know,
analysts on that, But does that do you get that

(01:11:39):
money back when you spent so much for advertising? I
think it's hit or miss, right, because we all laugh
now looking back at some of the commercials where it
was not as good anymore. They're really not, No, they're not.
Last year's Super Bowl was the lowest rated TV audience
in fifteen years. I was I forgot about that. Uh.
It was nine percent below last year's NFL Championship. According

(01:12:02):
to Nielsen data, the TV audience for the game was
the lowest since two thousand and six, and that figure
includes people who watched on TV's at homes and in
bars and restaurants. And it was Tom Brady versus Patrick Mahomes.
But I think the fact that it was a blowout,
and again I don't know if someone sitting around their

(01:12:23):
house not watching this more people and needed to be
a good game to suddenly turn on the Super Bowl.
But Chris, more people are watching it at home because
they didn't go to bars, So that's going to increase
the ratings. I would I don't know how this whole
thing works. The uh the largest US television UM numbers

(01:12:46):
were a hundred and fourteen million, apparently in two thousand
and fifteen, according to this article that I found. But yeah,
so last year was a very low rated Super Bowl.
I just that's always a weird thing for me. It's like, oh,
the ratings started a peak is as the game? So literally,
like people are just walking around watching what's your show?
Law and Order or matt Lock, and all of a
sudden the football game is good. Guess we should turn

(01:13:08):
on the super Bowl and actually pay attention to it.
I mean, if it's a bad game and you turn
off Party, what are the other networks run on? There's
other channels nothing, they runs, they run reruns. Yeah, I
will say kudos to NASCAR who was smart enough to
push the D eight ton of pack a week so
they wouldn't have to compete with that one more quick

(01:13:30):
tweeked on Pete. I think it's a fair conversation. We'll
have to dive into it more in depth, but I
do think it's gonna be a really big number for
the Super Bowl this year. Bill right waiting on Arnie
super Bowl Pick and do you think Lebron's wishing he
could come off the bench with Kevin Love to win
a championship with one game out of first Cleveland Cavaliers
right now? How about that they are right now and

(01:13:53):
they go out to make the move for Caris LeVert?
Are you holding onto your Super Bowl pick until the
final segment? Yeah, I'm gonna let it. And I have
a couple of props too. Um. I mean, I have
like a million pages. Saw how many problems I'm going
to give you? But but there's a few that I
do like, So I'll routle a few of them off.
All right? That Plank showed stinking genius. Want to keep
the tweets coming. We'll roll through them, and everybody should

(01:14:15):
be following us at Fox Sports Radio. When we come back,
we'll get caught up in all the news and trends
that have been making headlines. Next year on Fox Sports Radio,
starting Plank on a Fox Football Sunday eighty six to
football except for the Pro Bowl. Steven Seger has all
the details of that, which ended up not being a
good day for I can only stomach about a quarter

(01:14:38):
of that game because it it wasn't football. I mean
you're right, there was no football today. It's it's the
same conversation we had last August with the preseason. That's
why I can't watch it is because I am an
NFL fan. That's not NFL football in August wasn't. Absolutely
millions plural will be watching today. I do think the
Olympics tonight is going to get a better rating, just

(01:14:59):
because the sun night time slot for whatever in TV
is usually pretty good. By the way I've seen the
picture they've ended the first period of that Canadian women's
hockey game. There was the hour delay apparently waiting for
COVID results from the Russia. Imagine the Russians not being
forthcoming on something so Canada wouldn't take the ice. By
the time they finally did, Canada scores two goals in
the first two and a half minutes. It's now to

(01:15:20):
nothing end of the first period, but exactly exactly, but
notable because I've seen the picture and when they did
start the game, when the teams finally came back out
on the ice, both teams every player wearing full and
nine mask under the face shield that they have attached
to the helmet, and that's how it's gonna be for

(01:15:40):
this game. Wow, as far as the Pro Bowl in Vegas,
a FC winste Yeah, because apparently, even especially on interceptions,
no one's gonna bother to tackle. So the points got
piled up. First half had seven touchdowns and seven turnovers.
There were no punts, there were no kickoffs. The NFC

(01:16:02):
team on the ground eight carries one yard in the game.
The offensive m v P was Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert
with his seven of eleven stats for yards passing, two touchdowns,
one interception. I did see in the stats that Minnesota
wide receiver Justin Jefferson was targeted thirteen times in the
Pro Bowl, had five catches forty six yards. Notable from

(01:16:24):
this game the alternative to kicking off after a score,
that is sending your offense right back out and just
try and convert a fourth and fifteen, one play from
your own twenty five yard line. If you convert it,
you keep possession and keep going down the field. This
it's not gonna be voted on. Yeah, So the two

(01:16:45):
teams were combined oh for eight trying to convert the
fourth and fifteens, meaning the other team then took over
in great field position. Literally every time, So congratulations, nice
Try it's the Pro Bowl. If you're tried it anyway,
try anywhere. Try it there. It's like baseball, try and
their little things that at a ball go ahead, you
gotta try it in some sort of games. That Ravens

(01:17:06):
tight end Mark Andrews two touchdown receptions. Attendance was fifty
six thousand in Las Vegas. You mentioned the ticket prices,
so not a sellout. Kyler Murray Arizona, quarterback for the NFC,
wound up with three touchdown passes one interception. The Steelers
are promoting Tarrell Austin to defensive coordinator. They have the
opening because Keith Butler recently retired. Yes, if you didn't

(01:17:26):
hear earlier after the Pro Bowl. Saints running back Alvin
Camara was arrested in Las Vegas for battery this weekend
at a club. New Orleans does have one of the
two head coach openings in the league. Saints defensive coordinator
Dennis Allen has already talked. Now Lovey Smith, defensive coordinator
of Houston, has talked with the Texans about their opening.
So apparently Brian Flores and Josh McCown are each a

(01:17:48):
no for the Texans on the that vacancy, and Mike
McDaniel is the new Dolphins coach, chosen over Dallas offensive
coordinator Kellen Moore. McDaniel turns thirty nine next month. He
played wide receiver at Yale. I looked it up. The
Washington staff in twelve included just as offensive assistants on
that staff Kyle Shanahan, Mike McDaniel, Sean McVeigh, and Matt Lafleur.

(01:18:13):
That team won the NFC East, went ten and six.
That was like the only good Washington team for a
five or six years span. What's the one with that?
With that staff in Vegas yesterday was the NHL All
Star Game. Their schedule resumes tomorrow night with two games,
so they're still on All Star break tonight. That league
did not send any players to the Olympics this month.
By the way, after all of the NHL's COVID postpone

(01:18:35):
months earlier this season. The NBA All Star Game comes
up in Cleveland February. You had a Calves reference earlier.
Cleveland won again today beat Indiana, and the NBA trade
deadline is Thursday afternoon. The Calves are acquiring from the
Pacers Carris Lavert, who's averaging nineteen points a game, giving
up a first rounder in the deal. Cleveland in its

(01:18:55):
game at a nineteen run to start the fourth quarter,
beat the Pacers eighty five. This is what's coming up
this coming week. Tuesday, the All Star Saturday Night participants
will be announced, defending Dunk Chant from New York Obi
Toppen due to compete. Then, the NBA's trade deadline is
Thursday afternoon, and the NET said today they are not
trading James Harden, despite what the Athletics says. The two

(01:19:16):
NBA All Star teams will be drafted this Thursday night
by Lebron James and Kevin Durant. And then, of course
the twentye is the game today was the cut off
the deadline to freeze the standings. Tonight we see, okay,
whoever's in first place at this point, you coach, you're
going to be the All Star coach at well, Chicago lost,
and so that means Miami's alone and first in the East.

(01:19:37):
Eric Spoelstra will be coaching Team Durant at the All
Star Game. Because of that, Monty Williams of Phoenix will
be coaching Team Lebron, and as for the golf. I
mentioned Tom HOGI with the first Tour victory. We had
what was it the Pro Bowl, Golf and NASCAR on
at the same time today at Olympics with the time

(01:19:58):
difference as well. What I to see is what gets
better ratings the Lakers over time last night because that
was National TV or the NASCAR exhibition at the coliseum today.
Are you with us on Sunday? They told me I'm
starting even a little early. I'll be ready at what
six Eastern? Whenever you start? Cannot wait? So that's next Sunday.

(01:20:20):
We got you covered on the Super Bowl Show. We
also have another hour coming up next on Fox Final Hour.
We're gonna talk talk a lot about the Super Bowl props,
which are It's been a quiet week for Super Bowl everything.
I've just been a quiet week for the game. Well,
I'm glad you brought that up because I want to
talk about the quarterback conversations that are gonna be NonStop.

(01:20:42):
We got coaching news tonight. In fact, we might have
a second coach hired this evening or into early tomorrow morning.
We know Mike McDaniel is in with the Dolphins, but Artie,
it looks like Lovey Smith might be the next head
coach at Houston. Yeah. I thought that was a surprise.
I mean we we both said we thought it came
out know where he was like, uh um, a late edition.

(01:21:03):
And now you've become the front runner. So I think
it's great. I think it's great. I think, you know,
for Houston. Here's what's weird. Well, let's just dive into it.
I Everything you hear about Nick Sarah is high praise. Right,
he was Belichick's right hand man and whenever David Ziegler
was announcer ziggl Or. However, he said it was announced

(01:21:24):
as the Raiders GM. He talked about one of his
first calls was to Nick and how important that relationship was.
So you get the sense that he's a pretty sharp dude.
But I I feel like that they've really made two
coaching searches about one guy and then didn't hire him. Right.
All we heard about the first time around was Josh
mccounty and they went with David Cully. All we heard

(01:21:45):
about the second time around was Josh mccount and Brian
Flores and they end up hiring a guy that again,
I'll have a problem with hiring Lovey Smith. I think
he's as fit to be a candidate as as as
Jim Caldwell was. But I don't understand where it came problem.
I know he's been on the roster, or excuse me,
on the staff. I know that he's been an associate
head coach. But it did it kind of came out

(01:22:07):
of nowhere with this candidacy. Let me ask you this.
I know people said they love the hard knocks, and
obviously that's been around for a while. Would you be
interested in, um, if they had rough footage of the
ten hours of the of the process or not? Oh?
You know me? I love team building. I love everything
about the NFL offseason except the interviews. You would you

(01:22:28):
when you wouldn't want to watch that? You know exactly
what the process is, you know what. It has completely
changed my perception though whatever people say things about a
guy maybe being a bad interview, right exactly. So you
sent me down anywhere and try to keep me for
more than four hours, um, like an hour, you know,
give me like an outbreak. It give me the best

(01:22:50):
of the of the whole eight hours are wrapped up
in an hour, and maybe I'd watch it and see
what it's all about. What they're asking him. I gotta
you know. For some reason, I feel like it's like
the wonder Wick exam le you, you know, whether they're
doing the you know, the introductions, or ask them just
like a whole bunch of stupid question. If you were
a tree, what kind of tree would you let us know?
Right now? You know? I just it can't be just

(01:23:10):
ten hours of football, you know it can't be. I'm
sure it's a it's a lot of organizational stuff. I'm
I mean, I don't know if they're drawn up plays
on the board or what. But man, I've completely now
rearranged my mindset. If anyone says the guy is a
bad higher, I'm like, are bad interview? Excuse me? Like, well,
if you put me through a seven hour interview process,

(01:23:30):
I would be too. So that means we're probably entering
Super Bowl week with what one vacancy and the NFL
has I don't know if it's an official rule, but
it kind of asked that, you know, no personnel moves
or no hirings are made super Bowl week, right, And
it's like, uh, like the underwritten rules of baseball. So

(01:23:51):
does this mean that we'll and again, maybe the Texans
don't announce tomorrow, So is it likely then that we
have what two vacancies after the Super Bowls? For knowing
that Kevin O'Connell is gonna be the next guy with
the Vikings and he's coaching the Rams offense on on Sunday.
So what the Texas kid announce it Tomorrow's Well, I'm
not saying they can't. I mean they can't if they want.

(01:24:14):
You know what I thought, And this is again, this
is my mind thinking of how the NFL might work
to try to cover up a disastrous story. This Brian
Flores thing a shouldn't go away, and Arnie, it appears
to me that it's not going away. No, not at all.
But if I were the NFL, I mean, and I
see that the Texans or maybe even the Saints are

(01:24:36):
talking to Brian Flores, I mean, I they're shading enough
to where I wouldn't be surprised at all to see
them pick up the phone and say, hey, Houston, listen.
We didn't make this a monster deal with the Shawn
Watson all year long, and we could have made it
a little bit more difficult, even though the Texans made
it easy on them too. We would really like for
you to hire Brian Flores, please and and and thank

(01:25:00):
you right again, I don't I'm not saying we'll offer
you a magical draft pick or something that will show up,
but in some way, shape or form, they'll find a
way to kind of give back. Maybe it's financially, I
don't know, but I wouldn't put it past the NFL too.
If there is a Brian Flores hiring that they try

(01:25:22):
to push that to her. Hey, it's okay, you guys
can announce that this week New Orleans, you're gonna hire
Brian Flores. Why don't we give you a stage here
at the super Bowl to half your press. Scott, you know,
in a way that Texas job might be better than
Miami because if he wasn't a to a fan, he
could bring an endo quarterback once they get rid of
de Shawn Watson and and hey, whatever you want now,
it's a it's an open slate, blind canvas. Get the

(01:25:44):
quarterback to Jawan, start from scratch. And when I say it,
I'm not saying that I think it's it's a good
thing to do that. I think it's really really sleazy
and would be really really like the NFL. But again,
I don't think that's gonna be the path. We'll see
if it's x entire Lovey Smith, good for them. They've
got a vision that doesn't seem to align with the
hot prospects right now in the NFL coaching searches. And

(01:26:07):
that's fine. Uh. With the Saints, on the other hand,
everyone thought Dennis Allen and his saland and this Allen.
But I'm glad they're talking Eric b Enemy right now. Arnie,
I told you that I thought I wanted him to
be the next head coach of the Raiders. What is
the most important thing to you when looking for a coach?
Do you need somebody with NFL experience? Do you need
somebody with any coaching experience? If they're a coordinator, do

(01:26:28):
they have to call the plays? Um? You know what
exactly are you looking at? They have to be an
offensive coach, have to be from you know, what are
the coaching trees? What are you looking at for? I
think in today's game, I'm really looking for an offensive
minded coach, right because what's the most important position in

(01:26:49):
the NFL? Right? So, I think I want to find
a guy that can either develop my quarterback, that I've
got or go help me find the next guy. So
I think that would be number one, which, again, if
we turn this back towards kind of the lack of
diversity in the in the NFL's hirings, how about this,

(01:27:11):
speaking of wanting a an offensive mind and a guy
that works with a quarterback um. Peter King in his
article this morning had this recommendation too. I don't know,
maybe help what has been a bit of a of
a lack with the Runey rule. Here's what Peter King's
recommendation would be. Every team would be required, starting with

(01:27:34):
the two regular season, to have a full time minority
coach who who would touch the quarterback in passing game
every day. Not a quality control coach, but rather an
assistant quarterbacks coach are some such title. This coach would
work alongside the coordinator, quarterback coach and quarterbacks in the
granular world of teaching, coaching the most important position on

(01:27:56):
the field, and thus increase the pool owners are so
desperate to choose from. Right now, He added, teams that
already have front facing black or minority coaches in place
Kansas City with the enemy, the Saints with Ronald Curry,
for instance, would not be required to make such a
higher But you know, you could see then what I
just talked about. I would be looking for Arnie what

(01:28:18):
it appears as in this hiring cycle with what Kevin O'Connell,
Josh McDaniels, Mike McDaniel, uh, and the list goes Nathaniel Hackett.
I mean they're one team offensive guys, right, not so
what again, that's a lot. I'm sorry you mean to filibus,
but what do you think of that theory? I I

(01:28:39):
do like that theory, and I think that's the way
to go. Used to me, where defense when Super Bowls, right,
defense wins champions because did it last year? That's all
you ever wanted. But I always told you, man, give
me the offense. That's that's that's the most important thing
to me. And developed the offense. Developed a quarterback to
you know, I love Look, I'm not big on the
offensive lineman, and I proved my point with the Cincinnati Bengals,

(01:29:02):
but the quarterback and the wide receivers. You I can
hear your moaning in the background. You can moan all
you like, but I was a hundred percent right on
that one. But give me the offense. Go ahead, yeah,
oh no, you're going alredy. You're gonna want an offensive line.
You're gonna need a good offensive life. What cost the
Chiefs the super Bowl? Last Jay still went to the
super Bowl. And look, Cincinnati's in the super Bowl also,

(01:29:24):
so you could say maybe if Cincinnati doesn't win, offensive
line was the difference. But look, you could make it
to the super Bowl with a suspect offensive line. By
the way, if you're the not that you bring it up,
if you're the offensive lineman for Cincinnati, why can't just say, hey,
everybody doesn't believe in us. Oh we need just one
good game. Let's get just one good game is all
we need. This is gonna be it. I mean, it's

(01:29:44):
not doom and gloom for them just yet. You know,
are you trying to lay out that you just need
to have one good game as an offensive line to
win a Super Bowl? No, but everybody's talking about how
oh they're gonna give that's a bad thing. Not that
again the Rams, because they're gonna be in big trouble. Yeah,
big time trouble. Do you see that front for the Rams?

(01:30:06):
Have you watched Aaron Donald and what von Miller have
done against against a good offensive line they reached havoc
against the Niners last week, or at least we're good
later in the game. Again. You and I will just
fundamentally disagree on this, but there is one thing that
we do agree on. To take this full circle back
to our original conversation, offensive minded coaches are gonna be

(01:30:29):
the way to go right. Of the hires that we've seen,
there's only one defensive coach and it's probably the most
shocking one because he goes to a place that desperately
needs an offensive mind to fix what went wrong at
their quarterback position in Chicago with Matt ebra Flus. So,
I don't know, Arnie is just it's a It's not

(01:30:51):
a shocking hiring cycle. It's disappointing in the lack of diversity,
but it seems to follow that trend where look across
the league right now. I mean, but both of the
both of the guys that are head coaches in the
Super Bowl are offensive guys. And Zach Taylor and in
in Sean McVeigh. Look at the guys that were in
the a f C and NFC championship games that we're

(01:31:13):
going against him, Andy Reid and Kyle Shanahan offensive guys.
I mean what Sean McDermott is really the only due
that you look at and say, all right, there's an
offensive minded coach who hit a whole run with his
offensive coordinator and Brian day Ball. And what did that
lead to Brian day Ball getting a job with the
New York Giants. San Francisco is doing defensively awesome. Don't

(01:31:34):
don't don't get it wrong. You're right there. By the way,
did you read the tweet that just came in from
Minnesota Man Kevin? No, uh, it says there Bengals win
Super Bowl with a game when he kicked over the Rams. Sorry, Arnie,
I'm picking against your Rams. That's the exact same score
I have it. I I know I shouldn't give that away,
but whoa, whoa, so Zax said, now I'm gonna have

(01:31:56):
to change my score. I think right. So you're basically
saying at Minnesota Man keV ruined the final segment because
he picked the Super Bowl score you had. Yeah, well
he has the different a different team, but the exact
same score you got the Rams one in the Super Bowl.
Huh ms. Looks like you need to change their pick anyway.
Hiring cycle nearing completion. But there is a lot of

(01:32:19):
other dominoes that fall defensive coordinators offensive coordinators. I retweeted
the report earlier tonight that it looks like the uh
it looks like the Jaguars are looking at Press Taylor,
who had been with the Eagles and Mike Caldwell as
their defensive coordinators to really good higher uh Press Taylor
would be offensive coordinator, might called well defensive coordinator and
Mike Tomlin announced in a night to Tarall Austin, who

(01:32:42):
was mentioned a lot in Brian Flores. Uh. I keep
saying lawsuit. I guess that's exactly how you describe it,
lawsuit against the NFL. But Taryll Lawston is gonna be
the next defensive coordinator for the Steelers. But see, I
can't bring that up to you aren't because you don't
care about Cordin. No. I know, by the way, we
should do a segment called coach or no coach, and
see how many people remember who got hired you didn't

(01:33:03):
get hired, and you know all these musical chairs are
going on out there. I will say this is funny
because you talk about just names that you might not
know and where they ended up. I was reading Kevin
Clark through this tweet out earlier. Kevin as with the
Ringer NFL show, Good Listen on the podcast platform, searching
on I Heart Radio. He said, off the top of

(01:33:24):
my head, are some of these most of these hires
along the lines of the most uninspiring hires of the
last twenty years. Right, I said the same thing, Right
might not say the same thing. He mentioned names like
Dirk Cutter, Mike Mularkey when he got hired. Uh. Tom
Cable got hired by the Raiders, and Mark even considered

(01:33:46):
him for this time around. Jim Zorn was the Washington
football coach for a while. Adam Gaze how about names
like Chan Gailey was the head coach a couple of times,
most recently when he was hired in Buffalo. That was
a head scratcher. Do you know what? I didn't have
this big of a problem with John Fox and the
Bears as others. I always kind of thought John Fox
just needed the right spot. I was wrong. Uh, Dennis

(01:34:08):
Ericson was a head coach for the Niners for a while,
and who can forget Jim Moore Jr. In his run
with the Seattle Seahawks. I can't help but wonder when
we look back at this coaching higher Matt ever Flues
and Nathaniel Hackett. You know we've seen Josh McDaniels failed before. Arnie.
Who's to say that we're not having conversations about these
guys in a similar fashion in the next five to

(01:34:28):
ten years or your boy, Mike McDaniel right right now,
this is the best higher, This is exactly what they
need to get and it could be one of the
worst highers. Who knows. All right, let's hit the Twitter
machine when we come back, plus all of the great
sound from the events today, including well a little bit
from the Super Bowl as we count down to Sunday
in l A. The Bengals and the Rams we got

(01:34:50):
covered on Fox Sports Radio. Sarni and Plank on Fox
Sports Radio. Uh, did you take in one of my
favorite sporting events at all the this weekend, Arnie? The
Senior Bowl? Jeez, I must have missed that. When I
can you missed the Senior Bowl? How are you going
to be able to talk about intelligent draft and have
intelligent draft conversations? What do we do it? I leave

(01:35:13):
that up to you. Plan I make up everything anyway.
By the way, I've just been going through all the
pages of all these Super Bowl props. It's just, oh my,
it's nauseating. It's like thirty six pages of just everything imaginable.
It's absolutely crazy. Um, do you have an over under
for the length of the Last Brave? Now this anthem

(01:35:37):
that I have is a minute thirty five? Is that
what you have? Okay, but they have a prop for
the length of the Last Brave and the Home of
the Brave and it's six point five seconds. Oh my goodness,
that's I mean, take the under. Yeah, take then there.

(01:36:00):
You know, actually there's Jeff Schwartz was reading stuff. I
think it was him, of course it is. If it
was gambling. It was Jeff Schwartz. He said, like, the
last time this person sang the anthem, it's gone like
under five out of six times or something like that,
and he had all these stats on it, so you
gotta take the other this time around. I love the
fact that you could. The Super Bowl is one of

(01:36:21):
the only events where you can cash a winner before
the game kicks off. I mean, it's just it's so fantastic.
You know. Here's here's a couple of others for you
real quick tweets are great. I'm gonna get to my promise.
Will the anthem singer forget a word during the or

(01:36:41):
a middle word? Yes, it's always a middle word. It
says forget slash omit. So I see the clarity. Yes,
it's nine to one, No is minus three thousand. It's
happened before, so you gotta start betting. Yes on that
number of planes during the nash, it'll hand them fly
over the oper under is five. Gotta take the over, right,

(01:37:06):
we're near the airport. They are the NASCAR. NASCAR. They
have like one helicopter that flew over. So who So
that's just some of the pregame stuff. I have halftime
props including first song, who comes out first, how many
songs will be sung? And what color will Eminem's hair be? Wow? Okay,

(01:37:29):
you know I like the gatorade thing because I guess
if Cincinnati wins, they'll have the orange gatorade for their colors,
and if the Rams win, they'll have the blue one. Right,
So maybe all right, Bobo, Danny g let's get your
take on this, because you guys understand West Coast. Next episode,

(01:37:49):
California Love Lose Yourself, All the Stars, Family Affair, nothing
but a g thing. Drop it, drop it like it's hot.
Hum bull are still dre Uh. Those are the nine
songs that are in the odds to be performed first
at halftime. So my question to you, Bobo, which way

(01:38:12):
would you go? And do you open with California Love?
Are closed with it? You open with California Love like
you open with that you got to you cannot close
with California Love? Seven to two odds on that one
right now. The favorite is that California is how what
you're leading with you that I'm gonna I will say, though,

(01:38:32):
people go nuts when they hear the intro to next episode,
but it has nothing but you. You are talking about
California Love, period, Like that's where you need the pak hologram? Though,
is that happening? I mean, if it does didn't blow
my mind, I'm surprised that's not over under Wait hold on,

(01:38:53):
let me look, I haven't looked that far. Color of
Eminem's hair. Gosh, these are really in depth that Emine
actually stupid because him hasn't dyed his hair and forever
that's the better question will be like beard length or something? Right?
Does he have a hat on or not. Snoop Dogg's shoes,
you could better eleven to four for blue total headlining

(01:39:16):
artists wearing sunglasses. Uh, what will be seen first? And
these are um, I guess tying in with the show.
Tupac sha core image is eleven to ten. So that
doesn't necessarily say hologram, but maybe an image in some

(01:39:38):
form of Tupac. Uh. Snoop Dogg in a Steelers uniform,
it's seven to two. Eminem in a Lion's uniform, it's
seven to two. Snoop is not gonna do the Steelers
because he does promos for the Rams. Let's so he's
not gonna do that. Um, Tupac. I believe a Tupac
image of Tupac with California love somehow. I think you're right. Gosh,

(01:39:59):
that hologram comes out, Arnie. I'll be marking out during
our halftime festive. You and I both I can I
can sense it. Right. Give me give me five two
packs songs right now. I'll cash cash after a hundred
dollars if you give me five right. I can't give
you one right now. You're taking too long. That means

(01:40:21):
that means you googling it. I can't. We've said, like
two of them been sitting here at you said Hotel
Californ Yet bless his heart, So we'll have more of
these and of course the uh they have. I can't
believe how in depth you're talking about. You're going through
pages and pages. I can't believe that you could actually

(01:40:43):
have bets. And again, like Todd told us, most of
these are are offshore. What will be shown first? Hearing
any commercial rocket, Moon or astronaut? Are you what? What
we can go that? Which automobile company commercial will showed first? Kia,
BMW or Toyota, Well, Peyton, Manning Bull of Strike in

(01:41:04):
the michelob Ultra commercials, yes or no, Wow, that's some
good stuff. I'm gonna say yes on that one by
the left. And I guess I haven't caught the theme
of the michelob Ultra commercials that it's it's like a
big Lebowski thing. I guess I've completely missed the boat
on that one. Again, I don't really watch a lot
of commercials. Whenever I'm watching, have no idea what the

(01:41:26):
hell you're talking about. Yeah, so the whole michelob Ultra
lanes or or they've they've been promoting it as a
bowling alley is gonna open up and it's gonna be
a takeoff of Big Lebowski for their Super Bowl commercials.
Oh see, there you go, seen first in michelob Ultra commercial,
John Goodman, John John Taturo or Jeff Bridges. There you go,

(01:41:49):
it's gotta be Jeff Goodman. Gotta be Jeff Bridges. Was
the dude was due? Anyway? There you go, a couple
of stupid, crazy prop bets before we get back to
sports and your tweets next. It already's picks down the stretch, right,
Steve the Sager one final time to get us caught
up on everything going on in the world of sports.

(01:42:09):
What's up, Steve? And doesn't there have to be something
about Jeff Goldblum, because isn't he in everything? That's right?
By the way, here's one for you to se how
many commercials will have a dog in it? The over
under and a half all of them. Everything has to
have an animal. I mean those tests so well that
year after year they're animals. Of course, the computer generated

(01:42:30):
ones are the cutest that get the response. Absolutely there.
It's just take the over on any animals. Absolutely, and
even I know once the once the crowd here's California love,
it's just the start of that. They will go nuts
at that halftime. Absolutely, that has to be first. And
then some of us will be looking around expecting Kennley
Jansen to come out of the bullpen when he enters

(01:42:55):
at Dodger Stadium. By the way, we can update that
crazy women's hockey game at the Olympics tonight where the
players are apparently because of Russia and the COVID controversy.
Before the game, the players are wearing and mass under
their shields that are attached to their hockey helmets. It's
now Canada for nothing over Russia in the second period.

(01:43:17):
The US women, who are also undefeated, will play Canada
in a round robin matchup Monday night our time. It's
not as big as the game that they'll probably face
each other for the gold medal next week. Both will
advance after tomorrow night. We know that Russia won figure
skating team event, the US took silver. Men's downhill has
been run gold to Switzerland. Yesterday was postponed because of
high winds and at the Olympics outside Beijing, US skier MICHAELA.

(01:43:41):
Schiffrin was disqualified from tonight's Giants LALAM after missing a
gate early in the race. Joey Logano won NASCAR's Clash
at the l A Coliseum, Yes, an asphalt track on
top of the football field. Kyle Kyle Bush finished second.
I still want to see what I want to see
what the field looks like. A couple of weeks from now,
then Scar season officially starts with the Dayton of Five

(01:44:02):
in two weeks on Fox TV. Of course, the Super
Bowl is next Sunday, and it's at the Rams Stadium,
and the Bengals were practicing indoors this past week at
the University of Cincinnati. Next they're due to practice at
u c l A. I think I saw that it's Tuesday.
They're coming into town. And we do know that the
l A weather forecast for Super Bowl week is great, sunny,
temperatures in the eighties, about seventy five degrees on game day. Now,

(01:44:26):
the Rams rested running back Cam Akers and tackle Andrew
Whitworth from practice in recent days. The one guy they've
got to figure out his health and availability for the
big game is ty Tyler Higbee. Tight end Sprain m C.
L listed as doubtful for now, but that's one thing
they've got to figure And by the way, the Bengals,
as a f C champs, are the designated home team

(01:44:48):
for the Super Bowl in the Ram Stadium, so they
get to choose on jerseys. They chose to wear their
black jerseys for the big Game, so the Rams will
wear the white jerseys. And for what it's worth, I
read the teams wearing white jerseys have won four teen
of the last seventeen Super Bowls, including Tampa Bay a
year ago. So there. Miami Dolphins new head coaches Mike McDaniel,
who was forty nine Ers offensive coordinator this past season

(01:45:10):
his fifth year there. He turns thirty nine next month.
The two remaining head coach vacancies in the league are
at Houston and they have talked to their defensive coordinator,
Levey Smith, and at New Orleans. Previously they had talked
to Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen. Saints running back Alvin
Kamara was arrested for battery in Las Vegas, and he
was contacted after the Pro Bowl, which was in Las Vegas.

(01:45:32):
A f C won that forty one thirty five. The
first half had seven touchdowns seven turnovers. NHLs on All
Star Break two games Tomorrow night. College hoops wins in
the top twenty four number six Houston they wanted Cincinnati.
Houston's won twelve in a row. Wednesday, they'll play at
second place SMU fifteenth rank Providence one easily at Georgetown.
The Georgetown Hoyas R O and ten in conference, and

(01:45:54):
they play in at NBA Arena twenty thousand seats. Attendance
was about five thousand in d seat today. Sixteenth ring
Ohio State over Maryland Miami coach. Miami Heat coach Eric
Spolster will coach Team Durant at the NBA All Star
Game in Cleveland February. Cleveland beat Indiana. Today. The Calves
are acquiring from the Pacers Carris LeVert the NBA trade

(01:46:15):
deadline Thursday afternoon. The Nets say they are not trading
James Harden. But today Brooklyn did lose its eighth straight game,
lost by twenty at Denver, Minnesota and Dallas with wins.
Boston won its fifth in a row New Orleans and
Milwaukee with road wins, and Philadelphia as well. Philly one
at Chicago one O eight, Joel and beat forty points.
DeMar de Rosen of the Bulls scored forty five and

(01:46:37):
the loss. So the Bulls are in now half game
behind first place Miami in the East Milwaukee half game
back final note from Major League Baseball in the players
Union needing a new cb A, they've only had four
negotiating sessions since December one. Owners had their own meetings
this coming week. Spring training is not likely to start
on time bid February. They are potentially jeopardizing the start

(01:46:58):
of the regular season at this point, opening day due
to be March thirty one. The league has agreed to
a universal designated hitter, so that's coming to both leagues,
and it will remove direct draft pick compensation for free agents.
What have the players Union done. They have agreed to
expand the MLP postseason from ten teams up to twelve.
MLB has proposed fourteen teams total in the playoffs, so

(01:47:20):
even that's got to be settled. But major, major things
between two sides who hate each other still have to
be decided. The union wants younger players to earn closer
to their market value sooner. They want to end service
time manipulation. They want to eliminate tanking as a strategy.
Take note, NFL put that on TV. I'd watch that.
I'd love to see absolutely. By the way, Ernie, you

(01:47:42):
have brought up the point that we would love to
see the what is it the committee that votes on
the Hall of Fame for Pro football? We would love
to see those talks, and wouldn't we all, my goodness,
that would be great to see that. We had one
of the voters as a guest on this week. He said,
they have already voted. He are he has a good
idea in fact, who the five Hall of Famers will be.

(01:48:03):
The NFL honors are going to be in l a
national TV Thursday night, not the night before the Super Bowl.
It's Thursday night. This time. It's gonna be held in
the theater at the Ram Stadium. If you're looking down
at the stadium at a TV game, behind the gold
posts on the right is this standing room plaza, and
then this theater is right behind there. So Thursday night
we'll find out the Hall of Fame class of two

(01:48:25):
and the first year of eligibility has people like Devin Hester,
Andre Johnson, DeMarcus, where there are fifteen modern era finalists,
including Reggie Way, and Tory Holt and others. Thanks Steve,
have a great week, but we'll see you next Sunday
for the Super Bowl five o'clock Central, sixth Eastern. It's
my time right, by the way, when we're starting five

(01:48:45):
Central sixth eastern, the central three Pacific Central is times
tweet only time zone that makes any sense. So Sunday
is my birthday and the first time I don't have
to work having a super all party, and I'm tempted
to have every TV muted and you two on all
the speakers. Should I care if the people are mad

(01:49:07):
or just tell them to kick rocks? I think that's
the people are usually mad listening to the show. Anyway,
at mL times, here's here's what the key is. And
by the way, it's not Arnie's birthday. He just rolled
right into that tweetle what he was doing, right, So
it's at mL times who was having a birthday this Sunday,
So first time in eleven years that he doesn't have
to work on the Super Bowl, And he asked, would

(01:49:30):
it would be smart to mute the TV, crank up
the radio. It would be good. It would be good
in one area because then when Arnie sees the play
first and says, oh wow, hey, well you're at a
party with the video in front of you. So the
thing that is, here's here's the best advice I could
give you. And we don't do a lot of time
checks during the broadcast, but it we we might do

(01:49:55):
a couple, right, because I think it helps to sink
things up so that way, because get tweets like bad,
you guys are so far behind the game it's not
even funny. Yeah, no, we're not watching the game at
a different time than you are. It's just seven second delay,
the HD delay. Then to make sure Arnie doesn't cust delay,

(01:50:16):
which is I guess would we we kind of tow
up on a safe something. But we're like a minute
and a half behind. We're delayed there too, Like a
minute and a half makes it Arnie has the verbal
versions of the wardrobe matelfunction. That's right. Here's a very
very good potential prop from m x M. How many
times do they mentioned Tom Brady during the broadcast? Now

(01:50:41):
you would think during the game over on that Well,
let's what if I said it at five and a half, Well,
first of all, he's retiring. Uh, there might be a
records conversation or even uh, I don't know the last
time the Rams what late in the Super Bowl they
lost to Tom Brady. Um, I don't know. Okay four

(01:51:05):
and a half? Would you still take the over the
I still may? I mean, you cannot not talk about Brady.
You gotta get him at the least twice for the retirements.
Sometimes they had the Super Bowl m vps are making
an appearance something. That's right, he's available now. But I
wonder if it would have to win, would that start,
because if it started in a three game, I would
set the over under at a hundred and seventy five

(01:51:26):
the pre game at noon eastern. You mean, right, mentions
of Tom Brady? If that might up to like two
hundred mentions. By the way, if there was a Brady
cast like the Manning cast, I'd watch that. I'd like
to see what you'd have to say. Well, you're gonna
be on the air. No, No, I meant, I meant
if just like Monday Night Football or so oh, I
see what you're saying. Yeah, for next year. I think
I think if this is what I would do if

(01:51:47):
I was Sunday Night Football and knowing that you know,
al Michael's who's pretty much up in the air, and
we've all learned rather quickly that Drew Brees cannot be
an analyst. I'd go ahead and putting Mike Treko in
that booth with Chris Collins where and if I was
NBC right, ask Tom Brady, what do you and Gronk want?
What do you need? Let's let's do a Brady and

(01:52:08):
Gronk cast. You can have who's the other receiver that Edelman?
You're gonna have Julian Edelman on so he can get
him out of those horrific Seltzer commercials that he's in
when he's standing by they they can get them together
and then air their own version of the Manning cast
on NBC Sports Network Sunday, the channel that doesn't exist,

(01:52:31):
put it on USA. I guess to me, the way
to go are the Peacock app How's that the no?
Then nobody will see it? Um So I like that idea.
I just came up with that on the fly. Aren'ty
the Brady and Gronk cast? Let's go cast? And yeah,
that was I think Brady by himself would be boring.

(01:52:52):
Emmett says they better start with California. Love the guys.
These props are degenerate props, but I love it. Oh, totally, totally,
But that's what we love about them, you know. Uh,
Lou add our man. Lou Riley writes how many ads
will Jake the State Farm guy appearing? Well, I think
he's gone right, isn't all the State Farm? By the way,

(01:53:12):
I had a laugh. We missed this last week and
it kind of became a frustrating point to a handful
of fans, like as soon as the Chiefs lose, Like
every commercial is a Patrick Mahomes commercial. I was like, oh, well,
he's out there taping commercials and he can't focus on
it because he's doing it right after the game, right
right right? Oh? No, the time and prop and do commercials.

(01:53:35):
But yeah, okay, the State Farm ads with the a
A iron and Patrick Mahomes the new Jake. I couldn't
see that. Didn't Holmes get like a sixty million dollar
signing bonus? Why is he even needing these? Well, I mean, listen,
I'm not here to tell you that the runs over,
but the runs over? Okay, Kansas City, I hope you
enjoyed up kidding. I like commercials like Dak Prescott was

(01:53:57):
not a first rounder. Go ahead, do all the commercial
also until you got your contract. You know, the big
Ones is the richest player in the NFL right now,
contract wise? All right, Uh, we'll get more of your
tweets to wrap this bad boy up. And oh look
at the time, it's what everybody came from. Who's everybody? Everybody?
I like the four guys on Twitter, Artie's fix are

(01:54:19):
next on Fox Sports Radio. Hey, great job tonight, Bobo.
Good to have Danny g back after vacation. Thanks here
last week. Now he was on Vacas. Hey, Arny, go
adjust your rabbit er in tennis. That's right, make sure
you put a luminum foil on the tip of it.

(01:54:40):
Thanks to And there's an out of context thanks to
Matt Verderam and Todd Furman. And it's always Teave de
Seger crushing it on updates and the millions and millions
of editors working behind the scenes to give us great
audio that I have not played. So allow me to
at least play one piece. Is James Harden going to
be traded? We asked this very question of one of

(01:55:04):
the all time great players. Now, okay, head coach Steve Nash,
I just want to follow up the hard and stuff. Um,
it sounded like it. I don't want to misinterpret you
that you guys are not trading James Harden. Yes, so
there you go, he will not be traded. Is everyone
buying that? Does everyone understand? Sounds like he was pretty

(01:55:24):
adamant that he wasn't gonna trade him. So I think
we're gonna have a pretty wild week in the NBA.
With that said, it's always wild when it's time for
Arnie's Picks. A big edition of Arnie's Picks. Take it away,
stinking genius. Let's do it, my friend. There's only one
thing we're thinking about, and that is the Super Bowl.
Uh three thirty Pacific, six thirty on the East coast.

(01:55:47):
By the way, is that's exactly when kickoff is going
to be? Is there a bet off? I bet it's
like five. If I were to bet, i'd bet on
like five thirty six. Yeah. I don't even know if
they go ahead and you know, even kill that much side.
Look my final score and I take off Eastern Okay,
my my final score. I had it. I'm gonna add
some more points to it. I think the Rams win Um,

(01:56:10):
but it could be a very close game. Matter in fact,
that's what I'm banking on. I'm gonna take Cincinnati plus
the four and a half is I have the Rams
winning thirty four thirty one on a lad Field goal. Um,
I mean I love the over forty eight and a half.
I think that's an absolute steal and plike. If you're
a big Rams fan and you think that the Rams
are gonna blow them out, I jump on those alternative

(01:56:33):
points spreads. Also, take the Rams mind is seven and
a half get plus one fifty five. Take the Rams
minds ten and a half, get plus two twenty five.
Take the Rams mindus fourteen and a half get plus
three thirty. You can make a killing if you think
it's gonna go ahead, and you know, be a blow
like a lot of them are could be. Also on
the individual props, will either team score three straight times?

(01:56:57):
I'm gonna say yes, I'm gonna stop at the four
straight times. I think that's a little too much. Also,
they have like m vps and all that stuff. Maybe
I'm gonna do Von Miller Aaron Donald On the m
v P. You can get like twenty or twenty five
to one on that. So that's a good proposition also,
and otherwise I can't go through the thirty six pages

(01:57:19):
of all the props here. I mean, it's just I'm
going through all them. Oh I like that. I don't
like that. I like that, and um, it's just way
too much. I do like the first player to score
a touchdown, you know, those are always fun to beat,
the m v P s. I like the over Cooper
Cup a hundred four yards in receiving yards obviously, you
know I'll have over that again Cincinnati. But that's just

(01:57:42):
a few of them there. I like. So there you
have my picks, two of them, if you please no
longer strictly for entertainment purposes only. I wish I could,
you know, we could do like the whole week and
just go through all thirty six pages of it. You know,
well we we do have thirty minutes to fill Sunday before,
just just top off all the pregame ones. And but

(01:58:04):
you know, one of my favorite things, and this is
so this is such a dorky thing to say. I
love having my phone timer out when the anthem starts
and when it's done, being like, oh, welcome over. I
have money on it. All right, so listen, let's let's
leave on a very positive note. We've received many great

(01:58:25):
tweets tonight, But how about I give you a chance
to brag on your guys with Big Ben coming up
next to proclaim the greatness of the Rams and go
ahead and hand the Rams the super Bowl trophy. How
about we hand that national championship trophy to the Arizona
Wildcats in basketball? Mr and Mrs Hicks checking on Twitter,

(01:58:47):
please give Arnie some props from so Cal on the
beat down his Arizona team gave U c l A
our snotty neighbors sent their brady kids there go as
to X. We love to finish our weekend with Arnie's picks.
You all are the best, right, my Wildcat's baby, you
gotta be on cloud nine. Right, So technically it's not

(01:59:09):
everybody is one person. We uh we won't go ahead
and uh yeah, we won't go ahead and lose in
the first round like I'm used to. So that's good. Yeah,
I mean you should very least advanced there. You got
a smart coach man. You should feel good. All right? Then,
real quick, what's the we got a minute, what's the
biggest storyline? This week, what's talked about endlessly. You think
Brady's retirement. Flores, Yeah, Flores. I think they're gonna be

(01:59:31):
talking a lot about that, and considering the uh NFL
already went ahead and put a statement out about it.
Roger Goodell put one out right away, you know, and
then he had to come back and put out another
one basically say oh, we're really gonna dig into it.
But I'm with you, Arnie. I think coming up this
week it's gonna be a lot about Brian Flores, the

(01:59:52):
NFL's hiring process, and then by what Thursday, we'll get
to the game. Well, we'll be back on Sunday early
for the game. Join Arnie myself. Bobo is gonna be
with U, D n G and Steve de Seger for
the Super Bowl on Fox.
