Fantasy football Draft will be taking place later on in
this episode. Our executive producer Ryan Burr Singer will be
joining us at that time as we have twelve more
players to select for our draft that will try to
get you prep for the next season of fantasy football.
But Mike, before we get to that, we kind of

have to look back at one season because here we
are at Super Bowl Week. We are down on Radio
Row at the l A Convention Center where we will
be broadcasting all week long as a network. But this
gives us an opportunity to not just maybe focus on
the Bengals and Rams, but maybe that conversation needs to
be had, but to take a look back at what
we had in NFL season and and and to me,
(02:58):
there are a lot of things that that that stand out.
I'm curious to hear what your thoughts are, but to me,
such a changing of the guard when you have out
with the old and in with the new, especially at
the quarterback position. Well now that's just it. It ties
directly to where we're sitting, you know, with all the
posters and and signage. Here's Matthew Stafford staring at me
at one spot, and there's a giant Joe Burrow and
we talked about how quickly fortunes can change in the
(03:21):
National Football League. Not that the Rams had had some
giant drop off and and dearth of winning. Right, we're
just a couple of years removed from golf and the
Super Bowl. But when you're talking about the Bengals, right,
and all these years, all of the some draft picks
that were really nice, right, and we watched it, certainly
from a fantasy perspective. Guys, we've played for years. Guys
(03:43):
we know as part of our network, right T. J
houstmon Zada, We've all run into Chad Johnson, Chado through
the years. I mean there's been players, but to have
it all come together and coalesced like this so quickly,
all these young players, and I equated God to the
the And we've talked about this a little bit before.
The Seahawks coming together and the draft picks and the
(04:06):
sprinkling in of veterans and Russell Wilson's rookie contract. The Cubs,
all that drafting that they did. They got their their
World Series, but it didn't lend itself to a long, sustained,
dynastic run. But now we have the Bengals here and
year two of Joe Burrow with obvious flaws. Right defense
that sometimes is great, some kind of disappears the offensive
line that is Swiss cheese. I think would be the
(04:29):
kind way to say it is what it is, that
Joe Burrow has made the best of it. Right, you
get what you get, and you don't get upset, and
he just keeps going. And there were many times this
season when it's like you wanted to be Duke and Rocky.
You know, do you throw the towel to damn towel? Uh?
That kind of thing. But you know that's the thing
that stands out right, how fortune change so fast and

and certainly for me, the longer I talk about this,
the more I'm not letting myself get emotional that Tom
Brady is no longer there for us. Well, I think
that is interesting because they do think that the a
f C in the way that it played out. And
I just go back to where we were week fifteen
or week sixteen, when you would see teams in the
hunt and you would have to scroll down the web
(05:10):
page because there were twelve or thirteen teams that we're
still in it. I think number one that is going
to be the wave of the NFL's future. I don't
think that we are going to see the dominance that
we saw from the likes of Tom Brady and Peyton
Manning and whatever teams they were quarterbacking at the time.
I think that that is this has always been the
NFL's goal, is what the a f C was done,
(05:31):
and I think it allows a team like Cincinnati to
make that sort of quick turnaround. So not only are
you ushering out Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady and Drew
Brees retired last year and bringing in these new quarterbacks,
you're also ushering in a new era where maybe your
turnaround time isn't the the three to five years that
you needed, that you can do something in two years.
(05:51):
We saw the forty Niners do it a couple of
years ago, picking second and ended up finishing second in
the in the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs,
if you want to look at it that way. But
maybe this is more what the NFL is going to become,
well what they'd like, And certainly if you're a fan
of a downtrodden team, door starts to open. But again
it's the who's picking the groceries. What you know, we
(06:11):
talked about all the coaching changes, the new hires and
the change that we have in that regard, but also
going to the FC, that looks like where all the
power is going forward. Right, So if you're someone I
don't know, like an Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson and
you're pondering trying to get out of your current situations,
(06:31):
the grass isn't over greener over there. It's gonna be
a much harder path, and maybe the hard makes it great.
We'll quote a bunch of Tom Hanks movies or whatever,
but the reality is from the NFC side of things,
Brady Brady goes out, Kyler Murray removes everything off Instagram
whatever with Cardinals, So whatever is going on there, You've
got the Rams who look like they've built the model.
(06:53):
How long it works right, and cat manipulation and star
gathering or whatever. But it's an interesting model and a
change to the approach right that you've had from teams.
But they look like they should be set up at
least to be competitive for a while. So like just
a shifting of that kind of balance back to the
a f C, to all those young quarterbacks. It's not
(07:15):
big fish in a small pond or a small fish
in a big pond. What it is is, do you
go to the college party where there's gonna be really
hot girls, but you know that they're are a bunch
of football players and basketball players that are gonna be
over there, so your chances probably aren't too good. Or
maybe you go to the lesser populated party and you
know what, there may be the diamond in or off,
(07:36):
but you have the opportunity to uh to maybe connect
more at that party. That is the a f C
in the NFC. Right, how much swag do you have?
I like that anogy? That's good. We're gonna make a
little animated Dan Buyer. You know, you know there's gonna
be hot girls at the football party, Well that means
there's also gonna be guys. They're gonna be taking up
all the hot girls. But you go over down the streets,
(07:59):
you know, but although guys might be the same guy
their cookie cutters. Sure, Or you're like me and you
play Sega PG eight Tour on Sega Genesis until five am.
There's also that option in college. I don't know what that's.
That's a safer option coming this spring. Yeah, no, we'll
get that back in more job opportunities and another fantasy
(08:19):
league for you and how to get into so we
can going forward. Now I'm thinking about a little animated
Dan Buire and parties. How do we get a game
made by guy? I hate them? I hate parties. I
just I don't know if it's because I'm socially awkward.
You know. On the Super Bowl week used to be like, Oh,
what party you're gonna go to? Yeah, You're gonna go
(08:40):
to the maximum party. No, there's in my hotel room.
That's probably what I'll do and watch college basketball it
at night like that, And That's what I've done. I've
just never been never been my thing. I've never been.
I want to be in the room where it happens.
And if somebody is going to make a fool of themselves,
pretty assured I won't be me. But even if it is,
(09:01):
I'm gonna fail spectacularly. You you I know this, and
I'm not trying to to air your dirty laundry, but
I know that. And we're kind of both in the
business and I'm not trying to say that we're no
at all. But the point is is we talk sports
for a living. So the last thing that you want
to do is go to a party and talk sports, right,
(09:21):
Like that's like the last thing that you want to do.
And then when you hear other people's takes that are
just so acidine, you know, I don't know what to
talk about, and nobody watches the crappy TV shows that
I watch, and more people are more than the real world.
So like for me, the conversation is is difficult. I
said at a Christmas party a few years ago, and
the guy told me about his model planes. Wow, yeah,
(09:44):
I don't have anything to talk about, you know, so
so what do you do? What do you fly these things?
You know? Well? And what do you know about gyros? Yeah?
I know we're getting way off top. That's fantastic. No,
that's great because this is all I mean, Like it's
a celebration, right, We're here early week, so think are
set up, the massive stages are set up for Fox
Sports Radio. Is like I should give a concert, right,

I should run to the front of the stage and
just start screaming lyrics to some song. By the way,
I should also say when people are like, yeah, I'm
going to the maximum party, guys, unless you can get
into the upper chamber. No, that's just what we call those. Yeah,
that's what they were like, that's you know, it's just like, well,
why go you're gonna leave with a maximum? You know

what's funny because I actually bought bought something words to
make earlier this week. But but you're right, what what
what'sny is? I always love when the venues and you
can find all the party information online where they put
the schematics of how the rooms are separated, like here's
a DJA, here there's and then there's v I P room.

It's like, all right, that's upstairs in like some random
spots that you're not getting past the guarden, like you
start getting to the whole oceans eleven and once we
get off the elevators and past the yards and passed
the lasers and passed it, and we're going supposed to

his money. For importance wise, I think mcphigh has got
a lot of casher because of the assistance and and

Shanahan doesn't get as much credit for his coaching tree
since all of those were like little branches off the
main branch that was his trunk of a of a

you know, of a coaching tree. But I do think
McVeigh who basically started a new trend in the NFL
when the Rams hired him, and that's hire anybody that
knows Sean McVeigh or look for the young young coordinator.
To be able to add that to your resume, I
think is a big deal. And on the flip side,
to not add that to your resume could be something

that lingers to him. So that's that's why I also
thinking you're probably right, it's probably a stafford. But I
do think that McVeigh has got a lot more at
stake win or lose, considering the downfall of what could
happen if he doesn't know. I think you're right, especially
the way they lost the last time, right, because you
were the boy genius offense was supposed to be able
to run through walls and score on anybody. Right, it
(15:34):
was you know, to take all the defenses that you
learned about defending a nation in your history books. That
was what it was supposed to be. And they scored
three points. Right, So for Sean McVeigh, another defeat where
they don't like they lose the shootout. They lose the shootout.
But if that offense doesn't work and somehow this bangles

d makes Stafford and that offense look like we watch
Kansas City at times much different kind of approach of
and we obviously we had questions with Kansas City oftentimes
during the year. But if they're able to do that,
then yeah, the Sean McVeigh, the bloom is off the Rose.

was the Maroon five. Yeah that and you have only

sixteen points in the game. It was that was the
dud like we grew up. Bur Singer doesn't know this,
but the Super Bowl sucked when we grew up, like
they were not. They were allout like your your win,
your Bears win with super Bowl twenty and that was
a complete you know, and it was fun if you
were drunken ship for the rest of the world's like,

what are we doing? Yeah we had We had super
Bowl twenty three, which was Niners Bengals the second time,
which was a pretty good game. But then you just
and then you had super Bowl twenty five with the
Johnson Bills. But they all pretty much stunk for a
for a good portion of the time. Now we're kind
of been blessed with man. For the last I don't know, decade,
decade and a half, there have been very few Super Bowls.

I mean, I got the flips out of it with
the Seahawks and when they wanted against Denver me that
was a blow up. But I enjoyed every second of
it because they were winning the Super Bowl. But yeah,
more often, you know, more often than not, there they
were really good games. But super Bowl fifty three combote
an awful game with probably the worst halftime show that
we can remember in recent memory. Well, and now we
get the halftime show that it's got some controversy attached,

obviously lyrically and other things. I probably can't say that
on the podcast. Well you can certainly, Well you know
what you can um Well you can wrap for minutes.

Last time I went, I kid you not, he would
sing literally two lunches on, not because he had laryer gitis,
but because he didn't need to do a damn thing.
He just walked around the stage and did band leader
thing most And it's like, why are you kidding me? Yeah?
I was supposed to be saying nothing sitting next to me, Yeah,

and I got pandering in the crowd. Who's louder over here?
And who's not? All right, that's five minutes you get
have sung two of your damn songs. Oh man, it is.
It's so good, so good, yet so bad. Uh. At

right because as it began, so many people are like,

is win within the next five years, there's a potential
Super Bowl, and then immediately it started being torpedoed left
and right. Now got always guys, well, I tried to
be like Chris Carter. I was trying to be on
his staff. And Trent Balky, like Trip Balky is made

out to be the devil incarnate by so many people
think is he really that dead? Like, I don't know. Okay,
I've got one. I promised we'll step focused, Ryan Bursinger.
I've got one more Trent Balky story. I've told this
on the air. So there's a town in Wisconsin where
I grew up that it is a speed trap, you
know it like it is known for it. It's it's

guy coming there? Because remember at the time, and not
to derail this too far down that highway, but remember

I will take Leonard for Nett with the thought that
he probably will return to Tampa Bay or he does
find a starting job elsewhere. He had such a strong
season and established himself as an every down back, put

up great numbers throughout the year, and I think, especially
in this range, I'm willing to take that risk at
the moment, given the fact that his stock will probably
rise once we know where he falls. All Right, So
Leonard Fordette is off the board, ends up being RB
twenty three. Mike Harmon, you go up number fifty. You
know Leonard might show up during Super Bowl weeks, so
you you should stalk him and see if you can
(27:54):
find out. You know what, I'm gonna go to a
guy that's probably a former teammate and health is a concern.
If my records are correct, Chris Godwin is still next
where where he goes. How this ends up, there's so
much chaos and potential intrigue in Tampa Bay. As talking
about for Net is he there? Is he? Not h
(28:15):
You got a lot of defensive players that are aging
but are up so that you try to steal one
more year. I keep wondering if you have Bruce arians
as your head coach when you get to the fall.
That's a whole other things still swirling in the background
now that Byron Leftwich didn't get and didn't go to
Jacksonville for myriad reasons. But for Chris Godwin, whether he's
in Tampa with Kyle Trask, or if they bring in
(28:37):
Jimmy g or somebody else, or he moves on to
greener pastures a giant bed of cash, uh, He'll come
back and perform. That is Chris Godwin. Now, i'd receiver
number twenty one going at fifty guys, I'm gonna go
QB two. Yes, take Patrick Mahomes at number one. And
(28:58):
I know it's difficult quarterbacks, especially as we're doing best available.
You can always say, well, it gets someone later. However,
I don't think that the Chiefs are that well oiled
of a machine right now as an overall unit, meaning this,
they still can't run the football like there are a
variety of guys, and I still think that they will
rely on Patrick Mahomes. I also think they're gonna at
(29:19):
some point try to upgrade that wide receiving corps just
a little bit. Ravis Kelsey is getting a little bit older.
There's gonna be some new blood in there, I think offensively.
Maybe you see the Kansas City Chief shutter straighten things out.
So I'm gonna put Patrick mahomes is the QB two
at number fifty one. All right, Ryan Bursinger, you are
up at two. So for this pick, this might be
a little high, but I'm very high on him for
(29:40):
this season, given the way he especially ended the last
year and because of recent developments where now his new
head coach was a guy who worked with an offense
that through to the slot constantly. So I'm going to
take Hunter rentals. Can I just say, just like Dan
ahead of me, I hate you. That was That was
the next But you know what that we're at that
(30:02):
point in the draft. Do that you hear it and
everybody listening, you know, the fifth round is generally where
the you scooped me, you screwed me, all of those talk.
But yeah, Renfroze a potential monster if this offense clicks.
This is this is the point that I think is
is interesting and that's the reason and I had considered
Hunter renfro as a possibility, along with a few other
guys but I tried to put myself in the situation
(30:25):
of if I'm drafting and let's say Renfroll, I think
would be your w R to UH, maybe a flex
play depending on what you've drafted, but what I take
Hunter Renfro above Patrick Mahomes. That's what went through my mind.
So in that's a scenario, and I'm like, you know
what I'm I know, quarterbacks or whatever. But I also
(30:45):
feel like we get to this point, like at wide
receiver number two, there are some other names that we're
gonna get to and right now we're only doing a
three person draft, but those are the decisions that I
think you get in this time of the selection process. Alright, Harmon,
you're up atte goes So up at number fifty three again.
Head coach change UH literally announced to start Super Bowl week,
(31:08):
So this ought to be interesting to see the fallout
Houston and whether it's Davis Mills or somebody else. Brianon
Cooks still available. Had a really nice season despite the
obvious efforts UH to really screw that roster and all
the remnants of what Bill O'Brien did to that roster.
Good old trader Bill still lives on if if you
(31:31):
would have had to Taylor the entire season, I think
it would have been a different story for Brandon Cooks.
I mean I think you would even yeah, just to
continue to be higher. All right, here's the name that
I thought. I didn't think I was gonna do it,
and I know it's gonna come back to haunt me.
You know, we don't even know what team he's gonna
play for. You guys are saying we don't know about
head coaching situations and how they're going to play out,
or at least these guys are gonna play out. I

would take Rashod Penny at number fifty four if he
goes back. I mean, you want to talk about value.
I know you would get hurt in in uh in
week number four. But if you can get Rashot Penny
at that point of the draft, and considering what he
did in the later part of the season, those numbers
in this value, I think would be uh. It would

be great if you were able to land him. Dan,
look into my eyes. Do you see eyebrows? No, I've
been side by Rashot Teddy before. No, my eyebrows are
really blond. For those that obviously can't see us as
this is a an audio pot. You go to my

fifth round, Ryan bursting Europe. So here I'm going to

take speaking of being burned before, I'm going to take
a unning back that I've used high picks on for
the last two years and we've all been waiting for
his touchdown numbers to finally increase, especially given that he's
a featured guy in one of the best offenses in
the league. I'm going to take that was the biggest table,
Like this is what if you were ont of the
game show, we would have been holding up cards predicting
(33:19):
what Ryan was gonna say. You want to talk about
burnt eyebrows. C H has been my uh my fire
starter over the last two years. So Clad Edwards Layer
is off the board at number fifty five. RB over
to Mike Harmon. All right, as we continue on, this
is where maybe maybe I'm thinking a little bit too
(33:40):
outside the box. We've got two quarterbacks going. I'll take
number three and and I'll take Joe Chill, Joe Cool,
whatever the hell we're calling him right now, assuming that
we now get one or two offensive lineman into the frame,
a lot of money to spend in free agency, plus
the draft, all those skill position guys are under contracts.

So here we go. Joe Burrow is off the board,
so that puts me up at number fifty seven. By
the way, guys, it's been like out of our drafts
that we've left in doing the four rounds prior to this,
three out of the four times I've regretted who my
last pick is. We're not to that point yet, but
then I've I've made myself feel better about it throughout
the week. I am going to take a man in
(34:23):
this scenario. There's there are a lot of names out there,
and I'd rather sometimes go younger as opposed to older,
but I will go not to make it back to
back Seahawks. But I'll take Tyler Lockett with Russell Wells
Wilson possibly staying in Seattle. Uh, Tyler Lockett again, he'll
give you three games or he has two touchdowns in
a d and eighty five yards. Uh. The other ones
(34:44):
you're gonna have to navigate. But still as an overall
overall value wide receiver. Twenty four, I'll take Tyler Lockett
at number fifty seven. Alright, so that leaves three more
picks for us in this fifth round of this fantasy draft. First,
make this one counts so you don't regret it for
a week. Well, Uh, you guys have both taken a
(35:04):
quarterback in this round. I will go ahead and take
a quarterback here, and there are a couple of strong
options for quarterback. Four. I'm going to take Justin Herbert.
Are you impressed off that Pro Bowl effort? Like? What?
By the way? That? Um? That was fun. I'm gonna
leave it at that, go ahead, and Alice's first, Um,
he just continues to get better and better, and those
(35:25):
numbers are just going to keep skyrocketing even without if
potentially Mike Williams doesn't return. I'm not terribly concerned with that.
I think they'll probably address receiver in the draft if
if Williams does not return. Uh yeah, just give me
Justin Herbert all day. Alright, Mike Carmen, your last pick
of this round, don't regret it. Who's going to be
I'm already shaking in my boots, you know, um based
(35:47):
on and I guess that's the theme guy that I've
loved forever. Right, running back has been the guy well
and the year hurt was inconsistent, was in the doghouse.
So what his role is I don't know, but I'm
not taking James Robinson. I'm gonna take Travis at Okay, interesting,
I like this. See what Doug Peterson can do at
(36:09):
the running back position, right, I mean, that's the best
friend of a young quarterback. And you're trying to unlearned
take the men in black flashy thing approach to whatever
Trevor Lawrence experienced in his rookie year. You can keep
that win over Indianapolis. That was good, but outside of that,
you want to forget the rest of the year. Right,
You're getting a couple of guys back healthy. Hopefully Robinson
(36:31):
is one of them. I think he's got contracts, stuff
that needs to be resolved. But you get at N
back off injury, and you know the focal point will
be to make Lawrence comfortable, which means a lot of
work from the running backs, tight ends and the running
back out of the backfield as a receiver. So AT
ten fits the bill for me. Here, all right, Travis
(36:51):
and t N is off the board, and that is
running back RB six. Now we don't know how this
is all going to play out, but wherever he goes,
I think that he will put up numbers wherever he goes.
Final pick this round, and I won't be regarding it.
Mike Williams. Mike Williams going off the board. What was

the sea do you guys talking about Mike Williams are saying?
I wouldn't touch Mike Williams in the first sixty picks,
and I just picked him at six. No no, no, no,
no no, because it referenced Mike Williams. That's all. It
was just a very recent callback to the Mike Williams
conversation we just had. Whether he's with Justin Herbert or
somebody else, And if he's with somebody else, that means
you're probably bringing in as your number one, which means
(37:35):
Keenan Allen is not there like a damn siphon to
take all those targets. Now, if Mike Williams can stay healthy,
which he did this year, finally, yeah, you got big
numbers and certainly red zone monster potential. Yes, I think
that there's the ability there. I was also debating between
two jets. We know. It's funny I had. I had

one of them on my shop. You know. That is

Fantasy football Draft will be taking place later on in
this episode. Our executive producer Ryan Burr Singer will be
joining us at that time as we have twelve more
players to select for our draft that will try to
get you prep for the next season of fantasy football.
But Mike, before we get to that, we kind of
(02:36):
have to look back at one season because here we
are at Super Bowl Week. We are down on Radio
Row at the l A Convention Center where we will
be broadcasting all week long as a network. But this
gives us an opportunity to not just maybe focus on
the Bengals and Rams, but maybe that conversation needs to
be had, but to take a look back at what
we had in NFL season and and and to me,
(02:58):
there are a lot of things that that that stand out.
I'm curious to hear what your thoughts are, but to me,
such a changing of the guard when you have out
with the old and in with the new, especially at
the quarterback position. Well now that's just it. It ties
directly to where we're sitting, you know, with all the
posters and and signage. Here's Matthew Stafford staring at me
at one spot, and there's a giant Joe Burrow and
we talked about how quickly fortunes can change in the
(03:21):
National Football League. Not that the Rams had had some
giant drop off and and dearth of winning. Right, we're
just a couple of years removed from golf and the
Super Bowl. But when you're talking about the Bengals, right,
and all these years, all of the some draft picks
that were really nice, right, and we watched it, certainly
from a fantasy perspective. Guys, we've played for years. Guys
(03:43):
we know as part of our network, right T. J
houstmon Zada, We've all run into Chad Johnson, Chado through
the years. I mean there's been players, but to have
it all come together and coalesced like this so quickly,
all these young players, and I equated God to the
the And we've talked about this a little bit before.
The Seahawks coming together and the draft picks and the
(04:06):
sprinkling in of veterans and Russell Wilson's rookie contract. The Cubs,
all that drafting that they did. They got their their
World Series, but it didn't lend itself to a long, sustained,
dynastic run. But now we have the Bengals here and
year two of Joe Burrow with obvious flaws. Right defense
that sometimes is great, some kind of disappears the offensive
line that is Swiss cheese. I think would be the
(04:29):
kind way to say it is what it is, that
Joe Burrow has made the best of it. Right, you
get what you get, and you don't get upset, and
he just keeps going. And there were many times this
season when it's like you wanted to be Duke and Rocky.
You know, do you throw the towel to damn towel? Uh?
That kind of thing. But you know that's the thing
that stands out right, how fortune change so fast and
(04:50):
and certainly for me, the longer I talk about this,
the more I'm not letting myself get emotional that Tom
Brady is no longer there for us. Well, I think
that is interesting because they do think that the a
f C in the way that it played out. And
I just go back to where we were week fifteen
or week sixteen, when you would see teams in the
hunt and you would have to scroll down the web
(05:10):
page because there were twelve or thirteen teams that we're
still in it. I think number one that is going
to be the wave of the NFL's future. I don't
think that we are going to see the dominance that
we saw from the likes of Tom Brady and Peyton
Manning and whatever teams they were quarterbacking at the time.
I think that that is this has always been the
NFL's goal, is what the a f C was done,
(05:31):
and I think it allows a team like Cincinnati to
make that sort of quick turnaround. So not only are
you ushering out Ben Roethlisberger and Tom Brady and Drew
Brees retired last year and bringing in these new quarterbacks,
you're also ushering in a new era where maybe your
turnaround time isn't the the three to five years that
you needed, that you can do something in two years.
(05:51):
We saw the forty Niners do it a couple of
years ago, picking second and ended up finishing second in
the in the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs,
if you want to look at it that way. But
maybe this is more what the NFL is going to become,
well what they'd like, And certainly if you're a fan
of a downtrodden team, door starts to open. But again
it's the who's picking the groceries. What you know, we
(06:11):
talked about all the coaching changes, the new hires and
the change that we have in that regard, but also
going to the FC, that looks like where all the
power is going forward. Right, So if you're someone I
don't know, like an Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson and
you're pondering trying to get out of your current situations,
(06:31):
the grass isn't over greener over there. It's gonna be
a much harder path, and maybe the hard makes it great.
We'll quote a bunch of Tom Hanks movies or whatever,
but the reality is from the NFC side of things,
Brady Brady goes out, Kyler Murray removes everything off Instagram
whatever with Cardinals, So whatever is going on there, You've
got the Rams who look like they've built the model.
(06:53):
How long it works right, and cat manipulation and star
gathering or whatever. But it's an interesting model and a
change to the approach right that you've had from teams.
But they look like they should be set up at
least to be competitive for a while. So like just
a shifting of that kind of balance back to the
a f C, to all those young quarterbacks. It's not
(07:15):
big fish in a small pond or a small fish
in a big pond. What it is is, do you
go to the college party where there's gonna be really
hot girls, but you know that they're are a bunch
of football players and basketball players that are gonna be
over there, so your chances probably aren't too good. Or
maybe you go to the lesser populated party and you
know what, there may be the diamond in or off,
(07:36):
but you have the opportunity to uh to maybe connect
more at that party. That is the a f C
in the NFC. Right, how much swag do you have?
I like that anogy? That's good. We're gonna make a
little animated Dan Buyer. You know, you know there's gonna
be hot girls at the football party, Well that means
there's also gonna be guys. They're gonna be taking up
all the hot girls. But you go over down the streets,
(07:59):
you know, but although guys might be the same guy
their cookie cutters. Sure, Or you're like me and you
play Sega PG eight Tour on Sega Genesis until five am.
There's also that option in college. I don't know what that's.
That's a safer option coming this spring. Yeah, no, we'll
get that back in more job opportunities and another fantasy
(08:19):
league for you and how to get into so we
can going forward. Now I'm thinking about a little animated
Dan Buire and parties. How do we get a game
made by guy? I hate them? I hate parties. I
just I don't know if it's because I'm socially awkward.
You know. On the Super Bowl week used to be like, Oh,
what party you're gonna go to? Yeah, You're gonna go
(08:40):
to the maximum party. No, there's in my hotel room.
That's probably what I'll do and watch college basketball it
at night like that, And That's what I've done. I've
just never been never been my thing. I've never been.
I want to be in the room where it happens.
And if somebody is going to make a fool of themselves,
pretty assured I won't be me. But even if it is,
(09:01):
I'm gonna fail spectacularly. You you I know this, and
I'm not trying to to air your dirty laundry, but
I know that. And we're kind of both in the
business and I'm not trying to say that we're no
at all. But the point is is we talk sports
for a living. So the last thing that you want
to do is go to a party and talk sports, right,
(09:21):
Like that's like the last thing that you want to do.
And then when you hear other people's takes that are
just so acidine, you know, I don't know what to
talk about, and nobody watches the crappy TV shows that
I watch, and more people are more than the real world.
So like for me, the conversation is is difficult. I
said at a Christmas party a few years ago, and
the guy told me about his model planes. Wow, yeah,
(09:44):
I don't have anything to talk about, you know, so
so what do you do? What do you fly these things?
You know? Well? And what do you know about gyros? Yeah?
I know we're getting way off top. That's fantastic. No,
that's great because this is all I mean, Like it's
a celebration, right, We're here early week, so think are
set up, the massive stages are set up for Fox
Sports Radio. Is like I should give a concert, right,
(10:08):
I should run to the front of the stage and
just start screaming lyrics to some song. By the way,
I should also say when people are like, yeah, I'm
going to the maximum party, guys, unless you can get
into the upper chamber. No, that's just what we call those. Yeah,
that's what they were like, that's you know, it's just like, well,
why go you're gonna leave with a maximum? You know

what's funny because I actually bought bought something words to
make earlier this week. But but you're right, what what
what'sny is? I always love when the venues and you
can find all the party information online where they put
the schematics of how the rooms are separated, like here's

knows who they are. If you listen to Fox Sports Trading,
they're not going to change. They wouldn't change for seven
titles for Tom Brady. They're sure as hell not changing
for one for Matt Stafford. I do think, I do

think that Sean McVeigh would give him and run for
his money. For importance wise, I think mcphigh has got
a lot of casher because of the assistance and and
how many graphics we saw from the Washington staff. Mike
Shanahan doesn't get as much credit for his coaching tree
since all of those were like little branches off the
main branch that was his trunk of a of a
(14:51):
you know, of a coaching tree. But I do think
McVeigh who basically started a new trend in the NFL
when the Rams hired him, and that's hire anybody that
knows Sean McVeigh or look for the young young coordinator.
To be able to add that to your resume, I
think is a big deal. And on the flip side,
to not add that to your resume could be something
(15:13):
that lingers to him. So that's that's why I also
thinking you're probably right, it's probably a stafford. But I
do think that McVeigh has got a lot more at
stake win or lose, considering the downfall of what could
happen if he doesn't know. I think you're right, especially
the way they lost the last time, right, because you
were the boy genius offense was supposed to be able

Michael Thomas, Kyle Pitts, Josh Jacobs, Terry McLaurin went at

at five, Ezekiel Elliott Our beats twenty at number forty six,
then Damian Harris, and A. J. Dillon was the last
pick of the fourth round. So the order has always

of a risk on this one only because we don't
know what team he's gonna be on. But this guy finished.

I will take Leonard for Nett with the thought that
he probably will return to Tampa Bay or he does
find a starting job elsewhere. He had such a strong
season and established himself as an every down back, put

up great numbers throughout the year, and I think, especially
in this range, I'm willing to take that risk at
the moment, given the fact that his stock will probably
rise once we know where he falls. All Right, So
Leonard Fordette is off the board, ends up being RB
twenty three. Mike Harmon, you go up number fifty. You
know Leonard might show up during Super Bowl weeks, so
you you should stalk him and see if you can

find out. You know what, I'm gonna go to a
guy that's probably a former teammate and health is a concern.
If my records are correct, Chris Godwin is still next
where where he goes. How this ends up, there's so
much chaos and potential intrigue in Tampa Bay. As talking
about for Net is he there? Is he? Not h

You got a lot of defensive players that are aging
but are up so that you try to steal one
more year. I keep wondering if you have Bruce arians
as your head coach when you get to the fall.
That's a whole other things still swirling in the background
now that Byron Leftwich didn't get and didn't go to
Jacksonville for myriad reasons. But for Chris Godwin, whether he's
in Tampa with Kyle Trask, or if they bring in

Jimmy g or somebody else, or he moves on to
greener pastures a giant bed of cash, uh, He'll come
back and perform. That is Chris Godwin. Now, i'd receiver
number twenty one going at fifty guys, I'm gonna go
QB two. Yes, take Patrick Mahomes at number one. And

I know it's difficult quarterbacks, especially as we're doing best available.
You can always say, well, it gets someone later. However,
I don't think that the Chiefs are that well oiled
of a machine right now as an overall unit, meaning this,
they still can't run the football like there are a
variety of guys, and I still think that they will
rely on Patrick Mahomes. I also think they're gonna at
(29:19):
some point try to upgrade that wide receiving corps just
a little bit. Ravis Kelsey is getting a little bit older.
There's gonna be some new blood in there, I think offensively.
Maybe you see the Kansas City Chief shutter straighten things out.
So I'm gonna put Patrick mahomes is the QB two
at number fifty one. All right, Ryan Bursinger, you are
up at two. So for this pick, this might be
a little high, but I'm very high on him for

this season, given the way he especially ended the last
year and because of recent developments where now his new
head coach was a guy who worked with an offense
that through to the slot constantly. So I'm going to
take Hunter rentals. Can I just say, just like Dan
ahead of me, I hate you. That was That was
the next But you know what that we're at that

point in the draft. Do that you hear it and
everybody listening, you know, the fifth round is generally where
the you scooped me, you screwed me, all of those talk.
But yeah, Renfroze a potential monster if this offense clicks.
This is this is the point that I think is
is interesting and that's the reason and I had considered
Hunter renfro as a possibility, along with a few other
guys but I tried to put myself in the situation

of if I'm drafting and let's say Renfroll, I think
would be your w R to UH, maybe a flex
play depending on what you've drafted, but what I take
Hunter Renfro above Patrick Mahomes. That's what went through my mind.
So in that's a scenario, and I'm like, you know
what I'm I know, quarterbacks or whatever. But I also
(30:45):
feel like we get to this point, like at wide
receiver number two, there are some other names that we're
gonna get to and right now we're only doing a
three person draft, but those are the decisions that I
think you get in this time of the selection process. Alright, Harmon,
you're up atte goes So up at number fifty three again.
Head coach change UH literally announced to start Super Bowl week,
(31:08):
So this ought to be interesting to see the fallout
Houston and whether it's Davis Mills or somebody else. Brianon
Cooks still available. Had a really nice season despite the
obvious efforts UH to really screw that roster and all
the remnants of what Bill O'Brien did to that roster.
Good old trader Bill still lives on if if you
(31:31):
would have had to Taylor the entire season, I think
it would have been a different story for Brandon Cooks.
I mean I think you would even yeah, just to
continue to be higher. All right, here's the name that
I thought. I didn't think I was gonna do it,
and I know it's gonna come back to haunt me.
You know, we don't even know what team he's gonna
play for. You guys are saying we don't know about
head coaching situations and how they're going to play out,
or at least these guys are gonna play out. I

would take Rashod Penny at number fifty four if he
goes back. I mean, you want to talk about value.
I know you would get hurt in in uh in
week number four. But if you can get Rashot Penny
at that point of the draft, and considering what he
did in the later part of the season, those numbers
in this value, I think would be uh. It would

be great if you were able to land him. Dan,

his touchdown numbers to finally increase, especially given that he's
a featured guy in one of the best offenses in
the league. I'm going to take that was the biggest table,

what Ryan was gonna say. You want to talk about
burnt eyebrows. C H has been my uh my fire

a lot of money to spend in free agency, plus
the draft, all those skill position guys are under contracts.

so that puts me up at number fifty seven. By
the way, guys, it's been like out of our drafts
that we've left in doing the four rounds prior to this,
three out of the four times I've regretted who my
last pick is. We're not to that point yet, but
then I've I've made myself feel better about it throughout
the week. I am going to take a man in

this scenario. There's there are a lot of names out there,
and I'd rather sometimes go younger as opposed to older,
but I will go not to make it back to
back Seahawks. But I'll take Tyler Lockett with Russell Wells
Wilson possibly staying in Seattle. Uh, Tyler Lockett again, he'll
give you three games or he has two touchdowns in
a d and eighty five yards. Uh. The other ones
(34:44):
you're gonna have to navigate. But still as an overall
overall value wide receiver. Twenty four, I'll take Tyler Lockett
at number fifty seven. Alright, so that leaves three more
picks for us in this fifth round of this fantasy draft. First,
make this one counts so you don't regret it for
a week. Well, Uh, you guys have both taken a

quarterback in this round. I will go ahead and take
a quarterback here, and there are a couple of strong
options for quarterback. Four. I'm going to take Justin Herbert.
Are you impressed off that Pro Bowl effort? Like? What?
By the way? That? Um? That was fun. I'm gonna
leave it at that, go ahead, and Alice's first, Um,
he just continues to get better and better, and those

numbers are just going to keep skyrocketing even without if
potentially Mike Williams doesn't return. I'm not terribly concerned with that.
I think they'll probably address receiver in the draft if
if Williams does not return. Uh yeah, just give me
Justin Herbert all day. Alright, Mike Carmen, your last pick
of this round, don't regret it. Who's going to be
I'm already shaking in my boots, you know, um based

on and I guess that's the theme guy that I've
loved forever. Right, running back has been the guy well
and the year hurt was inconsistent, was in the doghouse.
So what his role is I don't know, but I'm
not taking James Robinson. I'm gonna take Travis at Okay, interesting,
I like this. See what Doug Peterson can do at

the running back position, right, I mean, that's the best
friend of a young quarterback. And you're trying to unlearned
take the men in black flashy thing approach to whatever
Trevor Lawrence experienced in his rookie year. You can keep
that win over Indianapolis. That was good, but outside of that,
you want to forget the rest of the year. Right,
You're getting a couple of guys back healthy. Hopefully Robinson

I wouldn't touch Mike Williams in the first sixty picks,

conversation we just had. Whether he's with Justin Herbert or
somebody else, And if he's with somebody else, that means
you're probably bringing in as your number one, which means

Keenan Allen is not there like a damn siphon to
take all those targets. Now, if Mike Williams can stay healthy,
which he did this year, finally, yeah, you got big
numbers and certainly red zone monster potential. Yes, I think
that there's the ability there. I was also debating between
