Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to sports. Yes, what's going on? The NBA
playoffs finally officially underway, big man, it's kind of weird.
I love the playing tournament. It's not actually the playoffs
as the NBA season. So this is the official first
day of the playoffs. And as you say, we got
action already out of the gate. Are you in full

(00:24):
NBA playoff fever? Just yet? Of course I am. It's
uh this is, you know, the best time of the
year for the NBA. I love it. I didn't know
if we would have a you know, you're all doom
and gloom with the n c Double A tournament because
your Aztecs got bounced right away, and so I wondered
if you're gonna be doom and gloom with your Lakers

(00:45):
not even qualifying. You know, it sounds like I'm trying
to stroll you, but I'm not. This is just an
honest thought that I have to show me. But it
you know that's not the case. I'm a basketball fan,
you know. I love the playoffs. I love watching it.
Uh So the teams that earned the right to get there,
I'm excited to watch them play. That's the that's the

(01:08):
bottom line. Yeah. And how about not a shocker Jazz
beat the MAVs. No Luca don Chich. We'll get to
that momentarily, but the story is so far. How about
the Minnesota timber Wolves. Huh, they go in, they take
down John Moran and the Memphis Grizzlies one thirty to
one seventeen. You put a buck thirty up. There, a

(01:29):
lot offense going on. Big man Anthony Edwards, he had
thirty six points. Carl Anthony Towns rebounding from that playing
stinker that they won. Carl Anthony Towns was horrible in
that game against the Clippers, but he responds with twenty
nine points, very efficient. Eleven for eight teams. So the
big two if you will, over there, Anthony Edwards, Carl
Anthony Towns getting it done for the t Wolves who

(01:51):
take game one on the road. Very nice win for them.
That's a big win. And and watching that game, I
was just amazed by the youth of of both of
those teams. I believe there are two youngest teams in
the league. And you can tell it was back and forth,
up and down. I mean, there was no slowing the

(02:13):
ball down called Anthony Towns was running the break right,
he'd take the ball off the rim and and pushed
the ball. How many times did we see him get
the ball at half quarter, at the top of the
circle and just attack the basket as a seven ft
one center, just attack the basket. And he had a

(02:33):
vicious dunk on Jared Jackson Jr. Uh. There was just like,
I mean, the mobility of the bigs these days, and
you know, the ever evolving game of of of of
post players. I just was it was exciting to see

(02:55):
what Jah doing his thing and uh and uh Anthony Edwards.
It was It was good basketball. It really was. Yeah,
it was good basketball. And I don't know how to
say it exactly because Karl Anthony Towns he's not built
like a Greek god, you know, like it looks a
little Doughey, not quite the michelin Man, remember the old

(03:15):
michelin Man. Not quite Doughey like that. But he's not chiseled.
So every now and then when he just makes a
grown man move like dunking on Jaren Jackson Jr. And
he stood there for a second and was like, you know,
and he's like, I'm gonna get teed up, so I
better turn away. And it was awesome. He got teed up.

(03:39):
Yeah that you know it was a bad dunk when
the guy who got posterized got teed up Jayden out
of the way and got the tea after being uh facialized.
And you know, this is something that you gotta keep
in mind going forward from Memphis. And look it's game one.

(04:01):
We can't overreact. But you lose game one at home,
you gotta keep monitoring this three point shooting from Memphis. Now,
we know Desmond Bane has been special from three, and
he was good. He was three for eight. You'll take
that all day from three today in game one. But
Jaren Jackson Jr. Over five, John Morant over two, that's
not his game. He definitely we talked about like Biggs

(04:24):
needing to get in the gym sometimes or Ben Simmons
needing to work on his jump shot. It's not nearly
as bad as Ben Simmons, but John Morant has got
to develop his outside shooting because it's just it's not
as consistent as it needs to be for him to
reach that next level of just super super superstardom. You're
absolutely right, and he's a young player, Like this kid

(04:44):
is this he's a baby. Um so in terms of
developing his game, that'll come with time. Right, He's still
going off just pure athleticism and being able to get
to the rim. What I did count I counted about
seven or eight times he landed on the floor, on
the ground in the game. And that's going to wear

(05:05):
on you. He's not going to be able to sustain
his explosiveness. Is if every game he's on the ground two,
three times, seven or eight excuse me, seven or eight
times a game, that's gonna be tough to do. The
injury started creeping in. Every time you touch the ground,

(05:26):
you flop on your back, or you get hit out
of the air. It takes a toll on you. And
and and just watching that, I was just like wolf,
you know, I remember, you know, Steve Francis, and I remember, uh,
you know, uh how flash all the you know, Derek Rose,

(05:47):
all these guys who were extremely quick and can attack
the basket and got to the rim eventually, you know,
take the two from a nice jumper mid range, right,
Chris Paul, it every now and then like that that
you went about longevity. Yeah, that's the reason you hit
the nail on the head. Chris Paul is still effective

(06:08):
at a high level. It's because he's mastered the mid
range and jah he does, he is not afraid to
mix it up with the trees in there. Oh. He
definitely pays for it. And it's I'm telling you it's
going to take its toll sooner than later. That's a
hard floor out there. There's no gift to it. It's

(06:29):
unforgiving with the body contacts. So if you can, if
you can get by the defender and you can pull
up free throw line extended and hit a nice jumper. Goodness, gracious, man,
I'm telling you want to I wanna talk about longevity, right,
And look, man, Dwyane Wade was he was built differently.

(06:50):
I'm not saying Ji is weak, He's just slender. He's
very slender. And Dwyane Wade he was just thicker, right,
a little more padding when he would go down. I swear.
Dwyane Wade was on the floor so much. It was
as if it was like an incentive laden deal, like
if he hit X amount of times on the floor,
he would it would trigger a bonus or something. He
was on the floor constantly. Well, it was so much.

(07:12):
So one of his Nike commercials was about him, getting
him getting up off the floor so many times, all
the way back to his Marquette days. That's right. Uh,
it's just I'm telling you, man, If if he can
continue to develop the explosiveness is there. But if he
can continue to develop his game that mid range jump shot,

(07:34):
get better from the long ball, from the three, then
he's gonna be unstoppable for a long time. And the
Grizz as a team from three only seven for seven
in Game one. That's it's under that get you beat
at home. That's not gonna get it done. Brian no
and he from salam with the here on Fox Sports Radio,

(07:55):
speaking of injuries. You gotta go back to Dallas. They
lose Game one at home, No Luca don Chich obviously
a monstrous loss, and they were right in it. It
wasn't quite one of those Nick's Miami Heat games right
in the nineties where it's just like in the eighties
and the nineties. But it was a bit of a
throwback game with the Jazz and the MAVs. Not a

(08:17):
high scoring game, but the Jazz take it, and uh,
Dallas was they hung tough. Jalen Brunson had a nice
look in the final minute down four and missed a
point blank shot and that led to their undoing. They
just didn't have enough offense. So Utah wins. And the
big question is when does Luca come back. He missed

(08:40):
game one with the calf strain, he might miss game
two and and who knows when he's actually going to
be back for Dallas. Yeah, this is this is a
difficult situation for Dallas because what you don't want to
do with Luca is bring him back too early with
that cat. That calf is unforgiving. That that thing, boy,

(09:04):
that's one of those muscles. It's it's long, it's thick,
and it's so many parts to it where you can
feel good one day or feel better out there and
the next thing, you know, you know, you push off
for you know, jump for a rebound or going for
a dunk, and that thing catches. And so they gotta

(09:27):
be real cautious with that. It's interesting. I'm gonna be
really paying attention and I'm interested to see how how
that injury is going to affect him forward. I'm interested
how honest Luca can be with himself. It's difficult in
the playoffs, man right, and the training staff because you're

(09:48):
right there, you have a possible chance to win game one.
It doesn't work out. And then, man, that little voice
in the back of your head says, I think the
calf's feeling a little bit better, you know, around. I
think I can do some things, you know, I can
get out there and might make the difference. And yeah,

(10:08):
you're right, if you start pushing it like that, that's
one of those it's like a hammy, right, It's just
one of those ginger areas where you gotta give it
enough time to get back. And it's hard to say
as far as the severity. They know all of it,
exactly what he did and what the timetable is and
how much they can realistically speed it up, but there's

(10:30):
not a lot of time between now and game two
on on Monday, Right, quick turnaround? It's well, there, it'll
be quick turnaround now. So there in lies the problem
because if you bring him back for two he reaggravated,
then what are you gonna do? Yeah, and then but
you're also thinking, man, if we lose game two at home,

(10:53):
we're down oh two and going on the road. Now,
I'd rather go on the road with Luca. I would too,
and than not have him like that. You gotta start thinking,
you gotta start playing chess with yourself, right, like, Okay,
what are we gonna do? We're down? Oh two? Can
we fight back? We you know with Luca that game

(11:15):
looks different, right, So can we take Luca on the
road after getting a week of rest, all the treatment
you can get and get him to a place where
you know he can give us more than just you know,
three minutes. Like remember what happened with Kevin Durant. Yeah,

(11:37):
you know what I mean. Like you you find yourself
in a position where it feels good, it feels good,
but everything feels good. Had half speed, right, that's right? Yeah, sure,
and pushing off it's a little bit different game speed.
And lucas someone who has the ball in his hands
when he's on the court over seventy at a time
in that offense. So you know, it's just you know

(12:02):
what's crazy is he picked up his sixteen technical foul,
which would have triggered an automatic one game suspension, which
would have been it would have been the season finaley. Yeah, yeah,
So it was rescinded and he played that regular season finale,

(12:22):
and that's where he messed up. His calf. Like, imagine,
if the NBA doesn't send that technical, he's not playing
and he's perfectly good to go today. Isn't that crazy
thinking about it like that? That is crazy. I didn't
realize that. Yeah, right, Sometimes in football, you know there,

(12:43):
I don't know, a quarterback throws an interception, but there
was an illegal motion penalty or something like that that
negates it, you know, and you're like, good penalty, good penalty. Right.
That would be sort of the same thing with the Mavericks.
They wouldn't have known either way. But if the NBA
didn't reset in that, it would have seemed like a
penalty at the time, but they would have never known

(13:04):
that it would have saved possibly their season with Luca
not getting injured. That's insane to me, but that's the
way it worked out. Man. Here we are and what
looked like a blessing turned out to be a curse.
Look like it was good that Luca could play the
regular season finale, got hurt and now he's uh, certainly
not a percent alright, plenty to get to We got

(13:27):
action going on right now. Seventy six ers, what Toronto?
Who do you like in this matchup? Six or is
some fifteen No Mattias Thibel on the road though, Yeah,
you know, they just have too much. They have too much.
We'll get too hardened, right. Some of the things that

(13:47):
Harden happened him being yeah, I'm curious what you think
about his uh no pressure, I got nothing to prove.
We'll get to that around the corner. Also this I
believe Do you believe? I'm Brian no Easy from salam

(15:15):
might go to the NFL Draft for the first round,
I've always wanted to go to the first round, so
I'm saying I'm targeting it. I'm not quite want to
go in the first round. Two go in the first round.
I wanted to go to the first round to see it.
But uh, yeah, I'm sure you don't want to hang
out for the seventh round. You don't want to stick
a round for that one? Well I would, but we

(15:37):
got shows to do, you know what I mean. So
seventh round, shoot, it might be showtime by that point.
So yeah, I was thinking about going to Vegas for Thursday,
the first first round of the draft, which is just
under two weeks away, and then I would probably mosey
on over to l A and be there for a

(15:57):
few days, so i'd be there in the flesh for
the weekend, for the weekend of shows, you know what
I mean. So that's it's possible. Now, I don't know
how it works with the draft. We have to do
a little research because I thought it was first come,
first serve sort of thing. But you might need tickets
for certain sections of the Raiders uh stadium there. So

(16:20):
I'm not quite sure how it works exactly. Yeah, I
wouldn't know anything about that. I just you know, I
don't I don't know if I need to take it
or anything. I just make a phone call. But you
know that's just me really. So you got your guy,
you know, a guy who knows a guy to get
your premium seats for the NFL Draft. I just call
the NFL office and tell them, hey, I'd like to

(16:41):
attend the draft. I know, take care of the rest,
and they just take it. Can you do that on
behalf of a friend? Oh? I don't know. I can
disguise myself as you if that's what it takes, you know, No,
I mean, look, I I'll go to many lengths, you know,

(17:02):
I'll get some stilts. I'll make it work. Not that
much length and measurement. Sorry from salam or Yeah, that's
me on me from salam in jail. I'm not sure
if that's how it works with the NFL hook up

(17:23):
right there. Like, so I've got this, I've already been
a friend, he's a co host, you know. But I've
already been invited to the viewing parties and all of that,
so you know they have it set up a nice
little lounge at the stadium. Force to come watch. That's cool,
and you're just gonna bypass that opportunity. Huh, I may go.

(17:45):
I may not. I might be in Vegas doing something anyway.
Oh yeah, what was there a Hold Him tournament going
on there? It's a golf outing and uh, poker tournament
and stuff like that. You just worked in the poker tournament.
It was part of It's all part of the they experienced.

(18:06):
It's all together. It's an all inclusive. We did a
big poker tournament draft. Yeah, that's outside of the NFL.
That's over. You know what's the other thing? Pickleball are
having that going on? It's it's it's uh, it's it's golf,
you know, golf Hold Him Draft. Hey, it sounds like

(18:26):
a good weekend to me. We've got Danny g R.
Trusted producer. He's got something for us. Yeah. Well, I
know you're on a budget, be because you've got to
save all your money for your flights. General admission free
of charge to the public. During the draft, fans will
be allowed to congregate in three different spots, the fountains
of the Belacio, the Draft theater next to Caesar's Forum,

(18:47):
and the Draft Experience located directly next to the theater area.
So where is the main part of it? Is it
in the stadium because they initially had their plans to
do it where the Blaggio is right where that whole fountain.
We're gonna do boats, remember, Yeah, they're gonna have draft
picks on boats going up to the stage. I love

(19:08):
that idea, but I think that's been scrapped. So you
don't like that. Who's the first draft pick to get
sea sick? The draft pick to fall in the fountain
falls in the fountain route to his Goodell bear hug? Yeah, yeah, Oh,
I love that idea. I think that's a tremendous idea. Yeah.

(19:31):
I still we got to do a little bit more
digging here because I thought the main part was in
the stadium. I could be wrong about that. I don't
know if this is a I don't know. It's like
a lollapalooza type thing. You know, Goodell's on stage, B's
on stage. C now I have no idea how they're
going to do this. This from the Review Journal in
Las Vegas says the main NFL draft stage is planned

(19:54):
for the Caesar's Forum, for the Caesar's Forum, because that's
not it's Allegiant Stadium, right, No, it's not in the stadium. Then, yeah,
it says Caesar's Forum next to the link in Las Vegas. Huh, okay,
Then Caesar's Forum. That's where it's Okay. I guess that

(20:15):
makes sense because anywhere they've ever had the draft they
didn't They didn't do it in the stadium, so that
makes sense. Well, I think they were cowboys when they
were in Nashville. They were in the right Broadway, so
you know, but the cowboys. Remember they did it at
a T and T. Remember, I wouldn't let him have
it any other place, right, come on now, But for

(20:37):
the I think Philly was outside. I don't think everywhere
I was outside. You're you're outside, you you're with the people,
the elements. So yeah, okay. Hey, by the way, the
Dollar Shave Clubs six Blade Razor brings noticeably smooth shaves
with six stainless steel blades for swift hair removal and
a lubricating strip that keeps Thayings smooth. Dollar Shave Club

(21:00):
raisers are sold at Dollar Shaved Club dot com and
in stores. Speaking of lubricated smooth strip, is it more
of a a lubricating strip like audio version here or
is it more like keeping things smooth? No, it's it's
keeping things lubricated right when we're When you're doing a show,

(21:22):
you want things to be smooth, right, you want things
not to stick, you want the flow to be going.
You wanted lubricated. And if you want loop, we got
a guy for you. Okay, we got a guy who
was the epitome of lubrication and that is one Stephen l.

(21:47):
You know I do have an oil change appointment this weekend.
You're fuel ejectors that are by the way. They think
he didn't need that, Steve based on that intro Smooth
as silk. Yes, the NFL draft said they were going
to construct the main stage next to the Caesar's Forum
Conference Center. So if you know on the strip there's
Caesar's on one side and the Flamingo on the other side,

(22:07):
it's actually behind the Flamingo on that side of the street,
behind the high roller. You know that looks like the
London Eye behind the link. They're going to use that area.
I'm gonna show up and I'm gonna be like, this
is gonna be awesome on front. So don't totally gonna
be the wrong. Don't go to the Raider Stadium. It's
farther than that. I would be the only person in
the stadium above the water past paris just a little

(22:28):
higher on the strip. That's all okay. As for the
NBA playoff openers, we have four of them today. For tomorrow,
it's halftime at Philadelphia, Philly sixty nine to fifty one
over the Toronto Raptors. Philadelphia shooting fifty percent from the floor,
including from three point range nine of nineteen. Joel em
Beat in the first half fifteen points and nine rebounds.
The late game is an hour away, Golden State hosting Denver.

(22:51):
Steph Curry returns after a foot injuryed been out for
a month. As for Minnesota, a game one win at
two seed Memphis one third d to one seventeen Anthony
Edwards thirty six points. Game twos in Memphis Tuesday night,
and an opening win for Utah at Dallas is Luca
don said of the MAVs was out with a strain calf.
No guarantee will play Game two on Monday night, either

(23:13):
forward John Collins the Atlanta Hawks was upgraded to questionable
for tomorrow's Game one at Miami's missed over a month
with foot and finger injuries. Hawks center Clint Capella will
miss at least a week. He left last night's play
in victory with a hyper extended knee. In the NHL
fourteen games, including Boston clinching a playoff spot beating Pittsburgh
two to one. St. Louis clinched a playoff spot with

(23:34):
an overtime win against Minnesota six to five to Major
League Baseball in the game on FS one, Atlanta was
a five to winner at San Diego, the save to
Kennley Jansen. Boston shutout Minnesota and Sonny Gray for nothing
wins for Arizona, Oakland and the White Sox, who are
now six and two after beating Tampa Bay three to two.
Among the games in progress, it's the Cleveland Guardians in

(23:56):
the lead one nothing over the San Francisco Giants and
bad as literally as I speak, two run single Giants
take the lead to one at Cleveland. It's the Phillies
up eight nothing in the bottom of the third at
the Marlins. Uh and the Cardinals. Are the Cardinals still
in the league? Are they playing? Yes, the Cardinals are
scoreless in the bottom of the second innings scoreless. I

(24:19):
said in the league? Are they still in the haven't
heard much about the old Cardinals. St. Louis Cardinals. With
a win tonight, Ladies and Gentlemen will be five and two.
We do have the U s f L season starting
Tonight's on Fox TV New Jersey at Birmingham. Of course,
if you look closely at the schedule, all games are
at Birmingham. The entire ten week regular season is going

(24:43):
to be played at the same city, then the playoffs
in the Canton, Ohio. But at least they're giving us
the old U s f L team and city names,
even though you know New Jersey is never actually gonna
play a game in New Jersey this summer. Tomorrow night
there's a game on FS one Tampa Bay against Pittsburgh
USFL head coaches and Jeff Fisher, Michigan Panthers, Skip Holtz,
Birmingham Stallions, Mike Riley, Tonight's New Jersey Generals and Todd

(25:07):
Haley is coach of the Tampa Bay Bandits tickets for
the inaugural game we're ten dollars for adults and free
for kids under age of fifteen. They really want a
crowd for two networks carrying this opening game of the
ten week season. Thank to you. I mean it's not
much to do in Birmingham, I guess, I mean, go

(25:28):
see some ball. See some ball, got the drone cameras,
got miked up players and coaches at halftime. I love that,
love that. I would love to see that change in
the NFL. You know, can we get some miked up
footage and a halftime? What? What is, by the way,
what's the craziest halftime exchange you can remember in your

(25:50):
days in the NFL? Oh, I can't see that? Only radio? Really, yeah,
the craziest Oh no way, that's the statute of limitations
is not passed. You know we can't. We didn't we
you know, I know we're on serious X HIM, but
we're on regular stations in some of the markets. So

(26:11):
you know, you almost walked me into a trap, right.
Just you don't have to name names, no, just the
type of urbage and everything that goes with what goes in,
what goes on it at halftime? Good, it's gracious. Is
this Jason Garrett calling the games? He's Jason Garrett is
part of the broadcast crew on Fox. Yeah, it's a

(26:34):
well it's a Fox NBC Sports type hybrid deal, so
he's on the NBC side. Yeah. It seems like they
used a lot of white powder and makeup. Really, that's
that's the observation right there. He didn't want to come
on and coach one of these teams in the USFL.

(26:57):
I guess not right. Yeah, isn't that kind of strange?
You went from Dallas Cowboys head coach to commentators. Yeah,
he went from like, you know what, six seven million
a year too, we would be thirty two a gas
card and uh free Chipotle burritos for a year, Birmingham

(27:17):
Steakhouse gift card all you can drink at the Birmingham
Birmingham Steakhouse. Yeah, whistle, Yeah, there's a brock Hewart is
part of the coverage, so they have I was looking
at at this were some of the commentators caught my attention.
I believe that Cameron Jordan's unless there's another Cameron Jordan.

(27:39):
I don't know about be Cam Jordan of the Saints.
He's going to be part of the broadcasting crew. That's good.
I mean he's still playing, so he's just trying to
get his chops ready. That's right. Do a very good job.
I could see him being good at these uniforms though,
they look they really look like uh remember the program

(28:00):
exactly look like that. When they came out of the
locker room, I was like, Oh, this is the program
Hide women and kids right right? They do. They look
as quarterback. What was the name of that team in
the movie? What was that name that was? Don You

(28:20):
don't even know what the program is, do you? He
has zero idea? What was the active you the game? Yeah?
What was the is Michelle Pfeiffer in the program? Now
some of these commentators so NBC. On the NBC side,
it's Jack collins Worth, Paul Burmeister. You're also gonna have

(28:42):
Jason Garrett, Michael Robinson and Cameron Jordan's as analysts. On
the Fox side, Kurt Menefey, Joe Klatt, Kevin Coogler, they'll
be doing play by play. You also have Mark Sanchez
and Brock Heward. So there you go. It's on both networks.
Right now, it's a hybrid alright, Well, look, I hope

(29:06):
what's in the network push? Yeah, Mike Pereira up here.
Mike's a great guy. Um, I hope it lasts. I don't.
I know. The XFL is coming next year as well.
I really think they should have combined forces. That makes
zero sense to me. Yeah, yeah, U s XFL right, Like,

(29:32):
I mean, it's not enough talent, high level talent to
have to minor league professional football teams. I'm in league.
Excuse me, leagues. No, I think combining forces would have
been It would have been great. Yeah, the Rock who
owns the XFL now, and you know, they had a
personality behind it, and you know, I don't know. We'll

(29:56):
see how it goes. I hope this is a good
football though. I'm excited for the these young men who
you know, they'll get be able to get an opportunity
to play some some some football, get some eyes on them,
maybe continue that dream getting to the NFL. Are getting
back to the NFL, right, oh absolutely if they If
they do this like they did the World League, it

(30:17):
will survive because teams were allocating their players to designated
teams in the World League. If there was a relationship.
You got to have that if you can adopt that.
Like all the late round draft picks are undrafted free
agents who didn't play a lot, are on practice squad.
They got allocated to the World League. And what you're

(30:42):
explaining is instead of Hey, we're just gonna start up
our own league and you know, make a go of it. Yeah,
you know, it's everybody. It's it's a it's a money grab.
So everybody's trying to cash in. But you're not gonna
cash in on anything if you don't keep it working. Yeah,
you gotta stay profitable. There's the only way to keep

(31:03):
for it to live is the NFL gets behind it.
That's it, not the networks, the NFL. Right, by the way,
it was the E s U Timberwolves, That's what it was. Yes,
you Timberwolves. That is a great trivia answer right there,
SU Timberwolves. Wow, I wouldn't have known that. Kane was

(31:26):
number thirteen, Kane Baby? Who was what was Omar Epps?
What was his character? He had a great character running
back just you ain't in but another gang Bengal of Speed.
I gotta watch that again just for the nostalgia of it.
That was some good stuff. Who was the psychotic defensive

(31:48):
guy that's headbutting windows? Yes, that guy was great. Was
Darnell Jefferson. Darnell Jefferica. That's right. I would love to
know how long it's been since I saw that last.
It was great. But you know what, like the whole
recruiting thing, yeah, that was round the time I was

(32:11):
getting recruited in it. It was it was Yeah. I
think they shot a lot of that South Carolina stadium.
I think it was where like the game Cocks played. Yeah,
it wasn't far off you that good times, good times, Yeah,
very nice. All right, it is the moment of truth.
Are you onboard or are you not? We'll answer that

(32:34):
question right around the corner. I'm Brian Now, he's he
from salam This is Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian, No,
he's he from Salam. Here on Fox Sports Radio. The
Dollar Shave Club six Blade razor brings noticeably smooth shaves
with six stainless steel blades for swift hair removal and
a lubricating strip that brings things smooth. Dollar Shaved Club

(33:00):
braisers are sold at Dollar Shaved Club dot Com or
in stores so big Man. It is the moment of truth.
We are on the eve of the nets pursuits of
winning the East getting to the NBA Finals. First, do
you believe first past play in USFL history goes for

(33:23):
about seven d art That's pretty good. You know what's
funny is, for a second I thought, oh, man, he's
into this and I knew midway through him like he's
watching the game. He doesn't care about doing this show
right now. That's really good. Nice play. But back to
the show. So I think the Nets are going to

(33:43):
the finals, babe, it is the moment of truth on
the eve of Game one against the Celtics. Are you
in or are you out? Just because you say it
with doesn't mean it's gonna happen. I'm out, You're out? Ok?
How about Ben Simmons? Ben Simmons? But what about Ben Simmons?
They just he may start to practice with the team.

(34:06):
Come on, man, that no one has time for that.
You'll laugh at this. Um. So there was an article
about this and it says so far Simmons has been
limited to one on zero workouts. Nobody got time for that. Man,
This dude ain't play basketball in the whole year. But
but but that's on track to change. That is what
it says. Right, Yeah, we're good. No, Look if he's

(34:32):
gonna be back and playing and out fifteen eighteen minutes,
maybe game fours where they're targeting somewhere around there. Look,
I think they have enough to win this series without
Ben Simmons, but I think adding him to the mix
as a defensive guy, as a facilitator, that's his game,

(34:55):
that's what he excels at. He doesn't have to score.
I think he's gonna fit in well with the Nets.
I understand it's not the same ramp up where you
just get thrown in straight to the playoffs. But fifteen
to twenty minutes defensive guy, if he's healthy, he can
absolutely handle that. If it's a big question, man, I'm

(35:19):
just saying, if he's cleared, right, he'd be healthy, it'd
be cleared. Yeah, yeah, it's all of that sounds good. Well,
we're just all holding our breath waiting to see if
he decides he wants to show up. And I don't
get it so that that that Celtics game. That's gonna
be tough. Playing good basketball right now. And last thing

(35:42):
on Simmons, because this series is about way more than
j Simmons. But he's a part of it, right. He
had an epidural shot in mid March and it's for
that herniated disc in his lower back. So it's a
real thing that's going on. I know it's weird because
of one he was in Philly. It was just odd
right where it was well, yeah, I don't I don't

(36:05):
like how things are going here, and then it was
well there's some mental health issues that I'm dealing with,
and it's like, wait a minute, so what's exactly going
on here? It was just clunky how it all is
not tracking. Yeah, we'll see if he's back or not.
But I think whether he's back or not, the Nets
have enough to win this series. You're going team Celtics

(36:28):
in the series. Um, I'll take the Celtics, which it's
hard for me to know. I'll go Brooklyn in this series.
I can't Brooklyn. I can't. I can't I do. Look, look,
I do love the defense that the Celtics play. No

(36:48):
Robert Williams, that's a big deal. But um, you know,
I still think that Brooklyn has enough scoring and with
I still can't get out of my head where Kevin
Durant was unbelievable. Last season in the playoffs, put the
nets on his back. They almost beat the eventual champion
Bucks with Kyrie barely playing in that series, got hurt

(37:12):
right away and Harden was a shell of himself with
the hamstring injury, and that was beat the eventual champion Bucks. Like,
I can't get that out of my head. So to
have k D and Kyrie going, it's one thing that
I've learned um from year to year in terms of
playing and success. One has nothing to do with the other.

(37:38):
The first year has nothing to do with with with
the next year. I can tell you that, I promise
you I've been there. But on the other end of
that think I agree with some of that because I've
said that too. It's I think fans think that years
are like building blocks, where you saying, well, hey, the
last year they made it too, I don't know, the
conference finals, and then they added this guy until they're

(38:00):
definitely at least going to be in the finals. Right,
it doesn't always work like that. What k D did
was historic, That was all time great play against the Bucks.
So let's say he comes back to reality a little bit,
not to the point where he's thinking up the joint.
But he's just he's not special. Right, Well, well that

(38:22):
brings it down a little bit, and then well, hey
Kyrie comes back and that helps. So it goes back
and forth a little bit. But I hear what you're saying.
But we all know that k D is a superstar.
He's the best player on the planet superstar. So to
have Kyrie as a running mate, if he's there for
the entire series, that's a huge deal for the Nets

(38:42):
compared to last year. Yeah, it is, it is, and
we'll we'll just see how. You know, they gotta be
on every night, which is hard to do in the playoffs.
That's why defenses paramount. You gotta be on every night,
if you if you if you're going to outscore, you
gotta be on. Remember what happened to the Rockets, right,
they had all the three point shooters in the world.

(39:03):
Everybody shooting. But when you're not oning, man, that thing
can get real bleak heat. Can you need a you
need another pitch? Right? If your fastball is getting hit,
you gotta come with the change you got. Let's go
curveball every now and then, you know, like, yeah, let's
go change. But and I also think We'll get to

(39:24):
the Sixers series here in a bit. But Joel and
Bead was talking about James Harden, right, you mentioned the
Rockets and they're shooting and if they went cold, they
didn't have another go to You think about them going
head to head with the Warriors, who were historically great,
you know, and uh, that was just the wrong time

(39:44):
to be trying to take them down. They would have
won championships in other seasons. So I'm gonna take that
for what it's worth. I'm just saying with Brooklyn Um,
you know, in the shooting, we'll see if they're on point.
I think they have enough. I think they do. But
that's gonna be should be a very competitive series against
the Celtics. Looking forward to that, all right, A lot
more to get to the rules. Would you want to

(40:06):
see the rules be in the biggest league ever? Oh? Yes,
what's going on? I hope you're enjoying your Saturday evening.
So we'll get to Game one between the Sixers and
the the Raptors here. Philly looks like they're in control

(40:27):
right now by eighteen, just under five minutes to go
in the third. It's the NBA. They could still have
a run in them Toronto. But Philly is looking good
right now, so we'll we'll get back to that here
and talk about James Harden in particular. But I want
to get your thoughts here, big man. On the U
s f L. You are your knee deep in USFL

(40:48):
action right here. We've got some fireworks, back to back
scoring drives, Birmingham Stallion's New Jersey generals. But there are
all sorts of different rules in the U s FL,
and I'm curious. We'll go through a few of them.
If you like it for the USFL, and separately, if
you would also like it in the NFL. Okay, so

(41:12):
here's a few of them. One. In the USFL, an
offense can throw two forward passes behind the line of scrimmage.
I don't either. That's ridiculous. That's too gimmicky to me.
That's very gimmicky. Yeah, okay, and over time it's a
big whole thing. In the NFL. Right this way, the

(41:33):
USFL does it. You just get at the two yard line.
Each offense gets three plays. If it's tied after that,
then it's sudden death. Do you like that? It's kind
of like a I don't either. It's a little bit
like a shootout in a way to take the actual

(41:55):
game of football away from a game of football, right,
I'm I'm not a fan of I'm not a fan
of that either. Now we do have traditional kicks from
the twenty five, you're actually seeing kickoff returns. I'm a
huge fan of that. Yeah, I got these drones flying
all over the dumps up her thumbs down on the drones.

(42:16):
What do you think about? I need more drone footage.
I need to see how it how it shakes out
in the game, which she would hate for a quarterback
to drop back in get a drone, right, like hit
the drone or get hit by the drone. You know, well, malfunction,
that wouldn't be good. How about this? Instead of a

(42:38):
chain gang to measure the first downs, there's going to
be a tracking chip inside the football that will indicate
the spot you trust that you do like that? Would
you like it? In the NFL? That means some people
are gonna lose their job. I gotta see if it works.

(42:58):
That's my only thing. And need uh I like the
chip the goal line. Yeah, they're thinking about about doing
this too. A glowing football on your TV screen right
when it gets down to the goal line when there's
just a massive humanity. You're thinking about having a glowing football?
Are you thumbs up on the glowing football? No, you're

(43:24):
all right with I'd have to see it play out,
you know. I'm curious. But it could be. Uh, it
could be not as sexy as some are envisioning it being.
How about this, This has been talked about in the NFL,
at least a variation of it. Instead of going for
a traditional onside kick, you would start at your own

(43:48):
thirty three yard line, and you would just have to
convert fourth and twelve. If you do so, you would
keep the ball. If not, your opponent would get it.
Wherever that the spot of the football is on that
play fourth and twelve, that just doesn't seem long enough
to keep possession of the football. That's not that difficult.

(44:12):
It's not that difficult. Yeah, And the field position is
pretty good to My thing is something's got to give.
Either it's fourth and twelve from like your own fifteen
or something like that, or it's fourth and seventeen or
something from the thirty three. You gotta get to midfield
just or that. That's fine too, But yeah, fourth and

(44:35):
twelve from your thirty three. I mean goodness, why wouldn't
you go for it? Depending on the situation of the game.
We also have, let's see here helmet cams. Would you
like to see some helmet cams in the NFL. Well,
let's see what they look like here. Okay, test it
out here. They gotta see all I gotta see all
the footage. I want to see all of the the

(44:58):
little special gimmicks and gadgets and see how it flows
with the with the game. Yeah. Now, I think this
is great for the USFL. I think it would be
awesome for the NFL. But like I said, they're gonna
have cameras in halftime locker rooms, sixteen players per team

(45:18):
plus the head coach. We'll be wearing microphone that there's
gonna be a five second to lay. I think it's terrible,
terrible idea. Why do you think that's terrible? Um, that's
where all the adjustments are made. Sure, Yeah, why do
Why do the fans need to hear what the adjustments
are because they're interested? Yeah, but that's not like what

(45:44):
you can't do is so now you're starting to give
things away, m right, Like you're starting to take away
the power of great coaching. You get what I mean
by that, I totally give the NFL. You know who
the best in game adjustment UH coaches by far, Bill Belichick.

(46:11):
We've seen it time and time again. So you take
a superprier away when everyone can hear and and and
know what you're doing in the adjustments. I mean, look,
I get it, but I think this is the thing.
I don't like that that that I don't like that.
You've got the player's mentality right now, which is not

(46:32):
necessarily a bad thing. But if you step away, let's
let's take let's loosen the chin strap here, let's take
off the helmet. Now you are either a fan or
or more importantly, you're the USFL. You're one of the networks,
right like you're one of the head haunt shows at
Fox or NBC. So the more access and the more

(46:54):
that you can differentiate from the most popular product, which
is the NFL, that's good for you. That's great for
business because you're trying to get this thing off the ground.
That makes sense when you say it like that, But
I still would hate that that figurative helmet is still on.

(47:18):
It's still on. I get it, man, I get why
you would not. It's just it's just too much. Yeah.
It goes against everything that you've been used to for
how many decades? You know, it's too much. Yeah, I
get why you would push back on that, but yeah,
pushing back. I'm Brian no Easy from salam here on
Fox Sports Radio. Okay, getting back to the sixers two

(47:41):
lead as we wind down to the end of the
third quarter here and James Harden. You look at what
he's done today. It's been all right three five from
from three point. You'll take that nineteen points, yeah, nineteen
and thirteen and you'll say inefficient, right, five for fifteen.

(48:04):
You'd like to be a little bit more efficient, But man,
you take nineteen and thirteen all day? Yeah, through three quarters? Yes,
signed me up for that. But there's been a lot
made about what James Harden said leading up to the playoffs.
Here's a portion of what the Beard had to say.
Pressure not so good? Ready to who Okay? He said pressure? No,

(48:32):
not feeling any pressure here. What do you think about that?
You buy that? Or is James Harden just trying to
convince himself? I think I buy it? You do buy it? Yeah?
I do? Yeah, I do I do buy that? What
is it Aboutalize? This man, James hard is making forty
seven million dollars this year. Right, where is the pressure?

(48:55):
Do you think James Harden really cares that if he
wins a championship or not. I mean, look, I think
he cares based on how he's approached the game the
last five years. Right, that would tell me no. Right,

(49:17):
I hear why you. I understand why you would say that.
I think he cares. But it's to a point, right, Yeah,
I don't think he's going to lose sleep. I think
he's he's just basketball. He's gonna go out, he's gonna shoot,
he gonna do it. He's going to do the things
that he knows how to do, how to do, and
whatever happens happens. Yeah, that's not pressure. Yeah. I think

(49:41):
about if he were to win a championship, you know,
I think about Jordan's And just bear with me right now,
because some people are rolling their eyes like, oh my gosh,
no one's Jordan's. But it's just like that, I don't
know that almost like psychotic like pursuits of a chance campionship,
you know, or he didn't win, he was losing to

(50:03):
the Pistons year after year after year, and he finally
got there and he's holding the trophy and crying and
like he finally got there. If Harden were to win
a championship, I don't think you'd see anything even close
to that. If if James Harden was really, in my opinion,
really trying to win a championship, are on that path

(50:28):
and that was his primary goal, he wouldn't ever be
out of shape during the season, right, Sure, we've seen
that a couple of years now where he's out of shape.
Why do you think the hamstring has given him a problem?
So that's that's what leads me to believe that that's

(50:48):
not at the top of his you know, I mean, no,
I hear you. And it's always something would be one
thing if he was out of shape, which he was
at the end of its Houston days to force his
way out and then he gets out and then I mean,
he's a physical specimen in Brooklyn until he got himself

(51:11):
out of shape, right Like, you can't keep playing with
the game like that and expect the game to respect you. Yeah,
and then it was something else. It was on to
the next thing. To me, it just you know. Yeah,
he doesn't have any pressure. He's chilling, you know what
I mean, Like the pressure is not there. The pressure

(51:32):
is in Brooklyn. He he moved, he got away from
the pressure, and I don't know in Philly. No pressure
in Philly. Yeah, but I'm talking about in terms of
what they had assembled in Brooklyn. That's championship or bust.
They put that team together, right, they started with that.

(51:53):
That's this is what we want. That's pressure. You're getting
traded in mid sea eason to a team and trying
to help them get over the hump. Is not pressure
because it is what it is. Yeah, look, man, I
think there's something to be said about I think we
look at this either if you're in that situation or

(52:15):
if a you know, a common player was in that
situation right where you think, oh you're you're in Philadelphia.
You gotta produce in Philadelphia. Don't let you know if
they're if you're not, So there's pressure there, but here
I know, I know. But that's how we're looking at.
Where it's someone who's common, like like a normal player
in that situation or embat is playing at an m

(52:38):
v P level. So it's all about or mainly about
what Hardened can bring to the table or what that
that number two players bringing to the table. So I
think we look at it like that, where a lot
of players in that same situation that Hardens in would
feel some pressure. But I'm not gonna say he feels none,

(53:00):
but he feels less just because of the way he's wired. Yeah,
I I just he's out there just having fun playing ball. Man,
he'll hit the club, right. Remember they got blew out
by fifty and the next thing you know, he was
in the club popping bottles. Like to me, that doesn't
sound like you think Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant they

(53:22):
got they lost by fifty points, they'd be in the club.
Are you kidding me? What? But it goes back to
he also said I've got nothing to prove. That's crazy
to me, But it goes back to what you're saying.
He's just he's hooping and he's not worried about anything else.
He's not a lifer, right, He's not a lifer. And

(53:43):
who you know what I mean? Like, he's not he good,
he's chilling a lot of money, may million dollars. He's fine,
he's once some m v pss got scoring titles. It's
good man, life is good. Everybody can't everybody can't win championships.

(54:03):
That's just the bottom line. Well, how about this. If
you are on the team and you know he's a
special player and look at him Beat, he's a competitive maniac.
You know, this is the Kobe Shack thing. This is
what drove Kobe crazy about Shack. You know, if you're
and Beat, if you're a teammate of Harden, you see

(54:23):
a special player who's just cool, win or lose. I'm cool,
made a lot of money, did some good things. We
didn't win a championship. You know that sucks, but I'm
still cool. What are you thinking as and Beat or
a teammate, Well, that's how how he wears on his teammates,
that's right. That's we've seen that happen. We've seen that happen.

(54:48):
He had a whole franchise completely go away from anything
they wanted to do in terms of they got rid
of everybody over six five. That's right. Yeah, R P J.
Tucker you can stay was the center. Yeah, And they
did that for James Harden and what they were trying

(55:10):
to do. It didn't work. What everyone knew it wasn't
going to work, but they did it. They tried it,
it didn't work, and he pulled it, you know, the
emergency Uh, he pulled the emergency cord. Yeah, it's a
bad setup to be all in as an organization building
around a guy who is not all in himself. Don't

(55:33):
do that, don't do that that, do not do that.
That'll get that'll get that will get you starting over.
And isn't it crazy that Maury is doing it again?
Now it's different, it's not the same thing. They're not
six seven or less there in in Philly, obviously, but
he's given it another go with the beard, you know,

(55:56):
I mean, James harn't been in the league thirteen years. Man.
It's just it is what it is, you know. That's
the thing. They mentioned it today. You realize today is
the one hundred thirty eight playoff game of Harden's career.
It's playoff game number one thirty long time. Yeah he's good,
Yeah he is. And that's that does not fit in Philadelphia,

(56:20):
and that's not good enough. No, it isn't all right.
Coming up next, the delusion is off the charts. We
will explain. I'm Brian. No, he's he from salam keep
it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian, No,
he's he from Salam. Here on Fox Sports Radio. We're

(56:43):
brought to you by one of our favorite cities, Loss Vegas,
the greatest arena on Earth. Every game, match, race, and
competition it is always on. No one does sports like Vegas,
and the excitement is endless. So make sure you plan
your trip today at visit Las Vega. Guess dot com
man big Man. Uh, there's been some delusional statements recently. Um.

(57:10):
A couple of them happened to be Lakers players. And
so this isn't me twisting the knife. I'm curious you
correct me. Go, Okay, it's it's a long season, and
I just I picture a couple of Laker fans, like
really seriously right now? What So after the end of

(57:31):
a disastrous season for the Lakers they finished eleventh in
the West, didn't even qualify for the play in tournament, right,
Russell Westbrook was talking about I don't know what Frank
Vogels the issue was with me, And then Russ also
said this, I'm always haveing to like prove myself again
in the year after year after year, which is to me.

(57:51):
Just unfair. There's really no reason to have to do that.
I can't believe he said that. He said it with
a straight face. I mean, I'll give you first DIBs
on this one, you know, as a like Laker fan,
with Russ saying, I don't understand this whole process of
me having to prove myself year and and year out

(58:12):
to a new team, new coaching staff, knew every new organization.
What are you think that is the definition of being
a professional athlete. You constantly are proving yourself, yes, every year,
to let people know that you're still at a high level,
You're still playing at a high level. That's just that's

(58:36):
that's when it comes with the job. That's all sports is.
I don't care who you are. Yeah, for it's the
same for Lebron James and Kevin Durant and and everybody else.
Stephen kirklay Thompson. This is it's just funny because Russ
is basically saying, do you know who I am? And

(58:58):
the Lakers are like, yeah, who were? We know who
you were? But you're not that guy right now. That's
all that matters is right here, right now, he's not
He's not and that's the crazy thing. Right, he's not
as as explosive as he was. He makes terrible decisions.

(59:19):
His basketball i Q has has diminished. This is the
rust that we were dealing with. That's it. That's exactly right.
I can't I can't believe. I mean, even for a
player that's playing really, really well, I disagree with that. No, No,
that's not That doesn't go with being a professional athlete.

(59:39):
That's right. What if Tom Brady said I got seven rings,
I ain't. I don't got to prove nothing, right, Yeah,
you can complete the ball, right, you gotta prove that
you can get it done at age forty five. You
gotta prove that Tampa was one of the best teams
incapable of winning a Super Bowl. You gotta prove a lot.
It's not about what happened in the past. It's all

(01:00:00):
about now. So for Russ, who's struggling, like struggling on
top of all of that, to be like, I don't
even understand this whole prove my thing each year, what's
that about? That's crazy that I could not believe he
said that, And for him to think it's personal with

(01:00:22):
vocal it wasn't personal. It was just about performance. Now,
if he would have went out there and play well
and did what he was supposed to do, he would
have no problem. Frank Vogel would have no problem with him.
Fans would have no problem with him. Sometimes you can't
recognize the faults, your faults. You can't And and this

(01:00:48):
is a case of, you know, over the course of
the year, the soundbites of I don't care if I
turn the ball over, right, like all of these, all
these crazy things like I had zero expectations coming into
the seas and like what are you talking about? Brother? Like, please, man,
you gotta do better than that. Once again, Russ is

(01:01:11):
making forty million dollars, he's gonna make pick the pe
he picked up his player. He's making forty seven next year.
What what is he worried about? Yeah? Is this the
heartened thing? Like I'm cool, They're fine. It's not it's
not bothering them. Yeah, it's not. You can tell it's
not bothering them. Now, how about this. Lebron got in

(01:01:36):
on this. He made a statement at the exit interview.
Here's a portion of Lebron talking about the Lakers season. Yeah,
I mean it's not failure at all. We came to
work every single day, put our hard hats on, and
we try to get better every day and the results
just didn't didn't happen for us. So, but it's not
a failure. That is ridiculous. What look And for all

(01:02:02):
those people who like to debate Lebron's great, Lebron James
is great. Sure, he is one of the greatest players
to ever ever ever play this game. I am not
questioning his ability. The fact that he almost led the
league in scoring your ninety like, all of this is amazing. Sure,
but that was a lie, bold faced lie. And when

(01:02:30):
we talk about greatness and the comparisons for Lebron or
Michael Jordan's right, right, Kobe Bryant, those caliber of players,
and he's put himself in that conversation. It's not just
everybody else. He's like, I'm chasing that ghost in Chicago. Now,
you can't make a statement like that and still be

(01:02:55):
in the comparison because that would never They wouldn't come
out of the mouth of any of those players ever. Ever.
Jordan's magic can you imagine word, you finished eleventh in
the East this year. It's not a failure to work

(01:03:17):
in four Hall of famers on the court. At one time,
you finished eleventh in the in the West. If that's
not a failure, brother, well you you're not doing it

(01:03:39):
right man. And there and and and that's the and
that's the reason you've we failed this year. And I
say we because I'm a Laker through and through. These
comments are the reason we failed. When you thought just
showing up and going to practice every day was gonna
be enough, took him heat for a championship, the Lakers

(01:04:04):
don't show up. The Lakers compete for a championship every year.
Those are that those are the expectations. This is not Cleveland,
This is not Miami. Okay, that's not what this is.
This is the Los Angeles Lakers. They have to the conference.

(01:04:26):
Not bad, not bad. They have the most NBA championships
tied with the Celtics in NBA history. There is history,
there is lineage, there's expectation here. This is not a
one off in Cleveland where they got they get one

(01:04:47):
and they're happy that's gonna last for the next twenty years.
This is that is not what we do here. And
every great Laker and every great player who's played for
this organization won't let you know, look at the top
seventy five. It's literate with Lakers. They're all over the place.
And it's a reason for that. Look at the league

(01:05:09):
leading scores, all time leading scores. There's a reason for that.
And for you to come out of your mouth and
say it wasn't a failure when it was an absolute failure,
the biggest ever. That's the biggest failure in the history
history in the NBA. Who's failed worse than that? No one.

(01:05:33):
That's a problem. I have a problem with that. Yeah,
you have to. We'll get to why I said. I
think that's pretty interesting too. Nice man, And you know
who's not nice. You know who's gonna give you the
real Who's gonna keep it real with you right there?
They're not going to let you just skirt by and

(01:05:54):
placate a situation. They might have some bad news for
it's gonna be good. It's gonna be bad, but it's
going to be the truth. Score doesn't go our way, teller,
And that is one Stephen T. T Gentlemen, do you
remember it was just a few short weeks ago that
one Lebron James said, I'm literally having the time of

(01:06:16):
my life. Well, wherever he is right now. This was
after a triple double at a win at Cleveland, which
made him seventeen and one against his former team. Context
it made the Lakers thirty one and forty one on
the season at the time, but he was having the
time of his life right then. That's not gonna flys.

(01:06:38):
He's so worried about playing with Brownie yet. Can we
talk about that for a second, because everybody assumes because
Lebron James has a son, like he's NBA material, he
has not being not right now, and he's a kid.
He's a kid. But as of right now, you can
see some of the top prospects. And when Zion was fifteen,
you were like, oh, he's going to the league. Right

(01:06:59):
when Jalen Ring with fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, you're like, oh,
he's going to the league right like you could see it.
Great basketball high school program. He's a part of an
l a sure, but there were a couple of high
school All Americans on that team and neither was named Brawny,
just for the record, So you a long way to
go now. He got year, he got a couple of years,
three years to three years ago. But unless the focus

(01:07:22):
is on the wrong thing. So if Lebron really is
going to hold to this that you can get me
if you take the South. That's what everybody's assuming right
down the road. Yeah, that's not he going to have.
Where is that going? He may be in the G
League right right right? He may be playing for the
East Bay Lakers, South, South Bay, West Bay. Is there

(01:07:48):
a West Bay? I don't know. I don't know the
Wolves right the West is the Bay I believe. In
Los Angeles, we have news on Steph Curry. He is
returning tonight after his foot entry. He had been out
for a month. He is not starting for Golden State
in the game that begins shortly as they're hosting Denver
in Game one, another playoff opener. Tight that's the last
of the four games tonight. Curry has not come off

(01:08:11):
the bench in a game in four years since a
playoff game in twenty eighteen, which was his first game
back from a sprained MCL at the time. Still blowout
at Philadelphia under six minutes to go. It's Philly one
twenty four to one oh two over the Toronto Raptors,
and Tyrese Maxie has thirty six points for Philadelphia James

(01:08:31):
Harden in Game one twenty two points, fourteen assists and
no turnovers. Meanwhile, at Dallas, Luca don CITs of the
MAVs out with a string calf Dallas lost Game one
at home to Utah. Donovan Mitchell shot one of nine
from the floor in the first half, wound up with
thirty points in the second half, so thirty two for
the game and a Jazz victory on the road. Minnesota

(01:08:54):
one Game one at two seed Memphis one thirty to
one seventeen despite thirty two points from John Moran and
than He Edwards, in his playoff debut, had thirty six
points two. Major League Baseball among the games in progress,
the Cleveland Guardians are tied to two with the Giants
in the bottom of the seventh, Philly's up ten to
two at Miami in the bottom of the six, and
the Cardinals have a one nothing lead in the sixth

(01:09:16):
thing at the Milwaukee Brewers. A Card's victory would put
them at five and two on the season. The White
Sox are now six and two after edging Tampa Bay
three to two, Arizona and Oakland with road wins today.
Atlanta as well. This was the game on FS one
Braves five two over the padres the save to Kenley Jansen,
the former Dodger. And Yes, the U s f L

(01:09:36):
season has started tonight on Fox TV with the New
Jersey General's friends in touchdown RD. That's the first touchdown
in the history of the us That is the Birmingham

(01:09:58):
Stallions who have come back to tie it up against
those New Jersey Generals seven seven in the first half.
By the way, it's a quarterback Luis Perez from Texas
A and m Commerce with that touchdown pass we heard too.
Apparently it's Randy sadderfield wide receiver from Lyon College in Arkansas.
And the quarterback on the other side is Alex Magoo
from Florida International and among the Apparently he can see

(01:10:22):
better than the cartoon guy. And you saw Mike Perera
earlier in the broadcast. He's not just like Fox Sports
as in for NFL rules analysts. He is this league's
head of officiating. He is former NFL Vice President of
Officiating and extra points in the USFL. Yes, you can
one for the kick snap ball from the fifteen yard line.
You can go for to play from the two yard line.

(01:10:42):
You can go for three in the USFL a play
from the ten yard line instead of the two. So
if you're down nine, the game's really not out of reach.
Ten week regular season, there's a game on FS one
tomorrow night with Tampa Bay against Pittsburgh. Back to you,
interesting stuff, Thank you, Steve, Brian noany from salam with
you here on Fox Sports Radio. What do you think

(01:11:03):
about that? It's a one score game, down by nine,
it's a one possession game, down nine. You're cool with that?
Cool with going for three? As I don't know the
points after try from the ten. I guess you're I don't.

(01:11:24):
That is the ultimate vote of confidence right there. It's
just just getting wonky, now, I know, right, Like, yeah, look,
don't be down nine, right, yeah, play the game. Everybody
get opportunities. Let's not try to. We always trying to
solve it at the end, right, We always want to.

(01:11:45):
We want to quick solve what's next. If you get
four points or a field goal, if you could throw
it post, just don't. If you're down by if you
stand on your one yard line and you can complete
a pass and you can score, this is like the
MTV games. It's a five point baskets that Yeah, what

(01:12:09):
was that called. I can't remember, but they had the
basket like twenty five ft in the era the magic
circle way up by or something maybe this. How about
if you kick a fifty plus yard field goal, if
you also have somebody catch the ball as it goes
through the uprights and doesn't hit the ground, that's an
extra jump up and block a field goal at the crossbar,

(01:12:36):
not at the line. Is grimmage. Do you realize in
the NFL that's actually called goaltending. That's a real thing.
You can't no, you cannot stand there and knock it away.
That would be goaltending in the NF. I believe I've
seen old NFL films where they did put a person

(01:12:56):
under the gold post to try and do that. So
at some point in history, I do recall seeing, well,
you know, those old grainy color NFL films, I do
recall seeing somebody standing back there. Might have been standing
back there, Yeah, to do the like the Kramarti thing.
Nine Yeah, sure, but yeah, if you were to jump
up and swat it out, no no, no, like the

(01:13:18):
kemba can't do that, so no, no. But in the Olympics,
goltending is legal? Is this what you're saying? It's kind
of like the basketball thing. Yeah, well I don't know
about that. The Olympic rules. It's weird basket interference the Olympics.
You can pull it out of the rim, each through
the rim everything. Yeah, it's crazy. I planned to get

(01:13:40):
to uh, coming up right around the corner. Things were
looking bad for this player. Well things look even worse
now we'll explain. I'm Brian No Easy from Salam. This
is Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian No. He's he from
Salam here on Fox Sports Radio. As the Sixers, Oh yes,

(01:14:04):
with Angel of Death in the background by Slayer, you know. Uh,
the Sixers get it done as they win by twenty points.
Nice little effort by James Harden. You'll take it right.
Two and fourteen, how about Tyrese Maxi pours in thirty
eight points. Good lord, Tyrese was cooking. And uh, the

(01:14:26):
Sixers win in a cakewalk. So nice little game one
starts to the series for the Sixers here, Yeah it is.
And and if Philadelphia can somehow continue to play like this,
great effort from Tobias Harris. They've been missing him. They

(01:14:47):
need him to show up, Maxie. Anything he gives you
is a tremendous plus. That's thirty eight pluses speaking to plus.
He was plus twenty plus or minus twenty when he
was when he was on the on the court. And
then James Harden with the distribution of the football, I
mean the best, the best. The USFL is in your

(01:15:09):
mind like it's got me. Um. You know fortune that
says one turnover, I'll take that all day long. Yeah,
you know this serious? It definitely a good sort. Yeah. Reminder,
were brought to you by the Dollar Shave Club six
Blade Razor. It brings you noticeably smooth shaves with six
stainless steel blades for smooth and swift hair removal. It's

(01:15:33):
got a lubricating strip that keeps things nice and silky smooth.
Dollar Shave Club Raizors are sold at Dollar Shave Club
dot com or in stores. Now it was looking bad
for Baker Mayfield right. He was talking about feeling disrespected
by the Browns organization because they said he'd be back
and then lo and behold they trade for a much

(01:15:55):
better quarterback, Shane Watson. Yeah, how dare they now out
Baker Mayfield? Earlier this week, he was on the You
Never Know podcast and he was talking about where he
might end up, who's gonna be playing for next Here's
a portion of that. Not nervous. I also have no
idea where I'm going. But I'm not nervous because I like,

(01:16:16):
I've gone through a lot in the past few years.
But now I'm I'm gonna control what I can control.
I'm gonna try and impact as many people as I
possibly can and work my ass off. Done it, Okay.
And then a little bit later on in the podcast,
he said, you know where do I land? I don't
Maybe Seattle. Well, Seattle just signed Geno Smith. Okay, They've

(01:16:36):
got Drew Lock and they have Geno Smith over there
in Seattle. So it would appear that Baker is probably
not gonna go to Seattle, and so it begs the
question where's he gonna go? Who's gonna trade for this guy?
Who's gonna pick him up? And one other part here
Robby Anderson, who's a wide receiver with the Carolina Panthers.

(01:16:59):
So he was spawning to a report from Ian Rappaport
NFL Insider, and Rappaport said that the Panthers remained the
most likely landing spot for Baker Mayfield. So there was
an Instagram post about this what Rappaport was saying, and
Robbie Anderson just commented no. And then on the same

(01:17:25):
Instagram account, there was a post that said that he
hopes that Mayfield doesn't come to Carolina, and Anderson commented, facts,
he doesn't want any part of Baker Mayfield. Think about this,
big man. Look at Baker's market, what is it exactly?
It's not existed right now, and you have wide receivers

(01:17:48):
saying no anything but that. Well, yeah, like they like,
oh b J was there and he comes in and
to enjoy the team. He wins the Super Bowl, yep,
So where's the problem. The one sure thing they had,
their Jarvis Landry is trying to get out not anymore though,

(01:18:13):
right yeah, right, So you gotta be able to look
within yourself and and look, I like what Baker said,
Look what he can't. He gonna control things he can control,
and he's gonna work his butt off. That's it. That's
all you can that's all you can do. Wherever he lands.
You know, it's not a lot of places sure right now,

(01:18:37):
looking at the landscape, it's like, I mean he might
be how long is he gonna be on the Browns
roster Detroit? He bade end up in Detroit. Do you
think he's gonna be around to training camp and maybe
there's an injury and it opens up an opportunity that
sort of thing. I don't think they're going to go

(01:18:58):
into the season with him, not into the season, but
into training camp. Right, Like, it's possible because his market,
when's it gonna develop, It's not going to develop leading
up to the draft. It's not gonna develop right after
the draft. It's probably gonna be injury wise, that would

(01:19:19):
indicate training camp, right. Yeah, they're definitely, um, not gonna
do anything before the draft because you know, we're gonna
see how the young talent shakes out and and and
what's available, and um, he just put himself in a
precarious situation because he valued himself more than anyone else.

(01:19:41):
Art Show told me something, um that it always resonated
with me. He said, Um, you're never as good as
you think you are, and you're never as bad as
they say you are. That's right. Yeah, yeah, I like that,

(01:20:04):
you know what I mean, And you gotta keep that
means you gotta keep things in perspective, and Baker has
not done that. Baker is like, ah, what was the
disrespect line? I feel disrespected because I was told one
thing and they completed another. Welcome to being a professional.
Welcome to a job. Welcome to a job where you're

(01:20:25):
not the boss. It's happening every day in every field
and every career across the world. Welcome the relationships. It's
called divorce. You have to say I do before you
get married. The only thing is you got paid millions. Alright,
coming up next, the wild card of the entire postseason.

(01:20:49):
It is back. We'll have details for you. Ah, yes,
what's going on? Hope you enjoying your Saturday evening? Game
number four in the NBA going on right now, Nuggets
and Warriors. So we got about three minutes left in

(01:21:11):
the first quarter. Nuggets have a one point lead. We
got some ball to usfl Action, New Jersey. Birmingham, what
do you think about this so far? Are you into it?
Big man? You like this? I just can't get over
how much Birmingham will affect the program. I'm just watching them.
It's just it's so funny. What is the quarterback's name again?

(01:21:36):
In the in the program, Kane Kane, Oh yeah, I
can't remember the psychotic defensive guy Lattimore. Right, you guess
as good as mine. You might be completely right. I
have no idea. You could say, I'll give you nine
billion dollars if you can name the psycho defensive guy
from the program. I'd be like, guess I miss out
on nine billion dollars. Have no clue what that guy's

(01:21:58):
name is, but he was tremendous in that movie, tremendous
starting day, he was awesome. Now, um, if we go
back to the NBA playoffs, it feels I don't know
about you, but the play in tournament, the end of
it last night, it feels like it was last week.

(01:22:18):
Maybe because we have a quadruple header today, but just
last night, it was a tremendous game between the Clippers
and the Pelicans. Pelicans came back from a fourth quarter
deficit won the game, but no Paul George. Paul George
did not playing the game. He tested positive for COVID.
He had some symptoms on Thursday, got tested turned out

(01:22:42):
to be positive, so he missed the do or die
game for the Clippers and the Pelicans move on. They
clinched the number eight seed, and it's just to me,
big man, It's a tap on the shoulder. It's a
reminder of, hey, this is still the wild card of
the entire postseason as we go forward. That was a
big deal for the Clippers. What happens if we see

(01:23:04):
this in the conference finals, the NBA finals, whether it's
a head coach whose out, whether it's a star player
who's out. I mean, we're a lot further than we
were in the pandemic. We're not out of it. And
the Paul George situation is a reminder of that. Yeah,
anything can happen. You know. Health is is the biggest
asset in the in the biggest equalizer uh in sport,

(01:23:28):
and it just is the unseen is is always there.
The possibility is always there, right and you you start
to look and see, Okay, you know who's he like
this Luca Donchers thing is serious as serious. So you
have to you know, you have to, you know, Hope

(01:23:52):
Clay holes up, steph holds up, all of the key
players hold up during this run because you know, nobody
wants to see he pieces on the team sitting on
the on on the bench. Yeah, and I'm curious how
you think of it. For me, injuries are a part
of the game, you know, And I know that COVID

(01:24:14):
is a part of society right now. But my reaction
is different because if if Steph hurts his foot, I'm like,
but that's unfortunate. It comes with the territory, right, Luca
strains a calf, it comes with the territory. When it's
Paul George contracts COVID, it's really is that what Briant?

(01:24:35):
Where were you? It's just a different reaction, it is.
And it's unfortunate, you know, because with him, they it
was a good but it was a good chance day
win that game. Oh yeah. But on the flip side
of that, shout out to the New Orleans Uh, Pelicans
started one and twelve, right, let's started one in the playoffs, Zion.

(01:25:01):
And it's crazy the trade that brought c j and
Larry nance Jr. Best thing to him, brought him over
to New Orleans. There was the trade with the Blazers.
So it's crazy that scenario. So last night's game, with
the Pelicans winning, the Blazers don't get a first round
draft pick this year. It stays with the Pelicans, and

(01:25:23):
so the Blazers have to wait till to get the
Bucks first round pick, but the Blazers would be getting
a lottery and additional lottery pick this year had the
Pelicans lost. So you had all these Blazer fans like
what Paul George is out, it's just our lock over.
So it affected the Blazers, not just the Clippers last night.

(01:25:48):
That's great. That's when you really look at things like that. Man,
You're just like, Wow, isn't that wild? They do that
in the NBA all the time, where it's a protected
top five addition. Can you imagine if that played out
in the NFL, where it's, hey, we we've got a
first round pick on the line. If this team loses,

(01:26:13):
we get to pick this year. If they win, we
get it three years from now. That's insane. That's what
happens in the NBA. Yeah, that's wild. Did you like
the play in tournament? I do like it the NBA.
I think it's the best thing that happened to the
NBA in a long time. Yeah, I can see why
they're trying to figure out how to do something in

(01:26:36):
season tournament, which I don't think it's gonna work. Me too,
I don't think but the play in tournament is amazing.
It's been tremendous. Yeah, because you got a shot. Yeah,
it helps the regular season drama. There are a lot
more teams that are still out. Yeah you got a shot.
And those games like the lead in play the play

(01:26:58):
in games or basically you know, they're they're like, um,
the first four and right in a Yeah, that's exactly right.
But it's a great build up. And I think what
it does also, it's it's brand building. The NBA markets
it's stars, and when Anthony Edwards has a great game

(01:27:20):
in the play in that's that's good for the NBA.
You're starting to build brands that way that are more marketable.
That's a win win for the NBA. I think it's
been tremendous. Yeah, it has it's I like it. I
think it's great. The NBA needs it. Yeah, the NBA
needs it. Um, this is when you know the viewership

(01:27:40):
for the NBA increases, right, Yeah, this is it's you know,
no more college basketball, March madness is over, no more
no football. These playoffs will dominate the ratings. Early baseball
season was really checking and so they gotta have a
great product, that's right. And you know one other thing

(01:28:02):
I like about the playing tournament. It's it's quick. It's
not immediate, but it's close. Right. It's not a seven
game series, right, like the Timberwolves beat the Clippers, Tea
Wolves are in. You're going right. It's not a best
of three, best of five, best of seven. It's one
win and you're freaking in. That's good. I think that's

(01:28:24):
a good lead into the playoffs because you get quicker
results and then you're invested. So I think it's a
nice little lead into the playoffs and the best of
seven series. I love it. I think it's been tremendous. Now.
Adam Silver, commissioner the NBA. He was on with Dan
Patrick this week and so load management is big topic

(01:28:45):
in the NBA. A lot of stars resting, sitting out games,
that sort of deal. So DP had an idea of
what might be done that could slow some of that down.
Here was the exchange. What about minimum games to be
eligible for postseason honors. I think that's a good idea.
I think that's something we should look at. I think

(01:29:06):
that would be a way to incentivize guys. I think
there's an expectation. I think it's a good suggestion. I
think it's something we're going to be going into collective
bargaining fairly soon. Okay. So DP is basically saying you've
got to play a certain amount of games to be
eligible to be a first team a second team All

(01:29:29):
NBA guy, and that can affect your money. I mean
that's a great suggestion. They have to do something because,
like I said, these guarantee salaries. Bro, Like, if you
if you're making thirty five million dollars a year, whoa,
what's the incentive? Mhm? Right where where where are you?

(01:29:57):
You're stepping up to the plate to fight in the
law and it's getting out of hand, and you know,
watching these guys that like we talked about sit on
the sideline with thirty dollars suits and clothes and two
million dollars worth of jewelry on it's the club on

(01:30:18):
the sideline and and you're making you know, close to
thirty forty million dollars. I mean something's got to give.
The NBA is hemorrhaging money. M that's the other parts.
Not we saw what happened on Christmas Day? Yeah, oh yeah,
But what is the NBA supposed to do other than this?

(01:30:38):
Is why it's such a good suggestion. They're gonna have
to revisit those contracts. It's either that or the players
aren't gonna go for it. But all this guaranteed money,
all this guarantee, but Ben Simmons, you know, a much
money Ben Simmons is making. It's insane, Like this is
this is what I'm talking about? Like this, dude? Really,

(01:30:59):
just where is Kawhi Leonard? Yeah? Has anyone seen Kawhi Leonard?
We saw some footage of him in the gym for
a little bit. Was he did he go to a game? Uh?
Not many? Is what I'm saying, Like, what is going on?

(01:31:20):
But something's got to give? Man? Well yeah, and uh
that's why I think the first team, second team, it's
a start. It's something, right, It's something that could impact
a player's money because the NBA, obviously they want their
starters stars to play as much as possible. They don't
want them to be milking injuries or just taking time off.

(01:31:41):
So what does the NBA do if the team is like, yeah,
he's got a back injury, it's a little stiff. Is
the NBA supposed to say, no, he doesn't He's playing tonight.
Like they can't do that. But if you have something
set up where hey, if you haven't played fifty eight
of the eighty two games, or you're not eligible for
any of the all NBA eight teams, and that could
hitch you in the wallet. I mean that's a start.

(01:32:03):
It's a start to trying to get the stars back
out on the floor more regularly. Now Here these ideas
of shortening the season or like you have to really
shorten the season for you to see any headway with
less load management. Now, I think some of that. They
would just be playing less of the whatever it was,
sixties six games, however long the season was. You'd still

(01:32:26):
have players load managing. That wouldn't cure everything. I think
they should start the season in December. I think I
should be opening Day. And what that does is it
doesn't put you up against you know, college football. Right

(01:32:48):
we're in bold, we're in bowl season now, so you're
not competing with them every weekend. The NFL is winding
down to its final month. I love it, but players don't.
I think it's better to be playing deeper into the
summer where there's just baseball. Like what they're saying, what

(01:33:08):
they're saying is we want our summers. That's what the
league needs to say, is we're guaranteeing you these contracts.
You're making hundreds of millions of dollars. You don't get
a summer, that's right. You know how many summers I
missed out on in a row? Absolutely everyone when you
were in the league, summers in a row of your

(01:33:33):
thirteen year career because I missed out on thirteen summers, right,
you know how many christmas Is and Halloween's and Thanksgivings? Right, Like,
you don't get to have everything. That's right. As a
player in the league needs to put their foot down. Look,
I'm all four players because I was a player, and
I get it. I understand it. But as a fan,

(01:33:56):
I'm looking at the product and I'm like, look, if
the NBA starts on December number one, instantly their ratings change.
That's absolutely the case. Right, If they play longer through
the summer, and if you want to cut the games
down by two, if you want to go seventy two
games instead of eighty two, okay, right, and instead of

(01:34:20):
in April, started the playoffs in May, May early June,
just started the playoffs there. So we're getting through July
and be a little bit off. And what else I'll
tell you is they made every game, every series, seven
game series. Do you remember when it was the best

(01:34:44):
of five? Absolutely? I do. Yeah, for the first round, yes,
that's when the Nuggets beat the Sonics, right, that's the
best of five. Yes, right. So there are different things
that the league can do, but they got a play hardball.
They can't. You can't have all the money and the

(01:35:04):
whole summer. It's just not gonna work. And that's the
thing is, if it's all we want our summers, it's
like go to Cancun, it's summer year round. Like you
can you make enough money where you can chase summer. Yes,
but the kids are in school and hey, like I said,

(01:35:27):
you can have contracts or you can have a summer,
but you can't have them both. No. I love that
model way more than the current one. And the thought
is it's not just about the players wanting summer. There's
some worry that, Hey, fans have summertime. They might be vacationing,
they might be going here, they might be outside you

(01:35:47):
know anywhere. You know that, right, you can watch in
your pocket. June is summertime. Okay, that is the summer,
and yet people still watch the finals. They'll still find
a way to watch basketball if they are fans. So yeah,
I'm totally with you on I need to be on
the board of the governors and there is there's too

(01:36:12):
much of Well they said no, so I guess it's no.
Don't be like absolutely not. That's the one thing I
loved about David Stern paying zero games. Yes, and he
took heat. Remember the dress code on the sideline. There
are so many players like this is racist, and he's like,

(01:36:32):
I'm sorry to feel that way, but I think this
is the best thing for business. So this is what
we're doing. He wasn't afraid to be unpopular. I love
that about it. Was not unfraid to vampire. He built
the league. He made it what it is. He built
the league. Absolutely he did alright, plenty to come. Coming
up next, we'll get to the NFL Draft. Are you
team tools or team production? We'll explain. I'm Brian No,

(01:36:57):
He's he from salam This is Fox Sports Radio. I'm
Brian No, He's he from Salam. Here on Fox Sports Radio.
How about Don Brown shout out some old school chili peppers.
Very nicely done. The eclectic Don Brown. You know I

(01:37:20):
love about our guy. I actually just discovered this album
this week and I was completely blown away that it
came out. This is really good music to drop in.
Suck My Kiss is a great song. It's one of
those songs on that album. And there's a lot of

(01:37:40):
good music that came out in Don Brown for no
question about that, No, no question what you said. What
you said, Brown was this is really good music to
come out in, right meaning there wasn't a lot of
good music, no meaning that I thought that it might

(01:38:04):
have came out in like oh too. And I looked
at and was like, what hold up? This dropped in
one bro under the Bridge doesn't sound like ninety one? No, yeah,
you're right? Do you buy it? Big man music? Though,
Like I I mean, I'm we're getting further and further
away from him being qualified to pick the songs and

(01:38:26):
to do all of that. I really we got to
make some changes, man, I need to talk to somebody.
We got we gotta make some changes over here. You know,
off the top of your head, I know the Black
album was from Metallica. Are there any albums that you
know of specifically in ninety one off the top of
your head, big man. Uh, let's see, let me see

(01:38:49):
Dr Dre I'm the Google and a few Let's see,
all right, there's Uh. I'm looking for some variety here,
not as a collection called Quest. There you go, the
ghetto boys. My mind's playing tricks on meh. Tribe called Check,

(01:39:11):
the rhyme tribe called Quest. Summertime, DJ Jazzy, Jeff Fresh, Huh,
Naughty by Nature, O p P. Black Sheep came out
that year, iced t Original Gangster. I'm looking at the
list best albums the ninety one. They've got the Black
Album from metallicae this whoever came up with this list,

(01:39:33):
it's just out of their freaking minds? Are you kidding me?
Twenty three Day, Last Soul, Public Enemy. You can't forget
two Apocalypse now, I mean, come on, Brenda's got a
baby trapped. Oh my god, come on, man, they have Nirvana.
Never mind here, man, do it over here, man, I

(01:39:59):
would showing low of the ninety one man, I was
born in ninety one, always showing love. You know. I
think the Big Man has a point on this one.
Done you were like it sounds like oh to like
ninety one. They were making good music at ninety one
Pete also Cypress Hill that year. Ghetto boys. Come on, man,

(01:40:28):
this dude, they had real recording studios. You guys had
sounds coming out of the real to real tapes. What
they have free spens and everything. The intro for Virginia Tech,

(01:40:50):
you know, and her sand Man that's the black album.
That's ninety one Metallica right there. They still playing at
all these sporting events left and right. They should be
royalties off that. Man. Yeah, no, I can't. I can't
with him. Man, I gotta take him to school. All right,
We're gonna take him to school. We need to do

(01:41:10):
a whole three hours dedicated to music. Help him out
man with that. By the way, let me let me
get your quick reaction on this, and we'll get a
friend of American here. Briefly, we'll get to the NFL
Draft after we talked to a friend of America. But
Draymond Green, he was on the Draymond Green Show, right,

(01:41:31):
he had Steph Curry as a guest, and they're talking
about the best team ever. So check out this audio,
and I'm curious what you think about it. Here's Draymond
and Steph. People take numbers and they want to put
the numbers there and say, oh, were the bulls that
seven Zach, we were the best team ever. I don't
I don't care what no one said. I can't see

(01:41:52):
anyone beating that two thousand seventeen team, not even our
first I can't see anyone beating that two. They say
in the medical feel that I concur the best team ever. No,
no thumbs down. Huh Yeah, you're taking nineties bowls over

(01:42:17):
the world. Yes, we're talking with k D barriers. Yeah.
Hey man, yes, you get no B from me. Do
you know what you know what Scotti Pip would did
to Kevin Kevin, that's what you would go back to,
let's go to matchups. We just do. Let's go just

(01:42:38):
go to the matchups, all right? Huh all right? Like
I like it. You're involved here. Scottie Pippen on Kevin
Durant is a different conversation. Mhm, who on the entire
Warrior You were going to put andre Iguodala on Michael
Jordan's Yeah, it's not gonna work, nothing's gonna he was

(01:43:00):
going to score seventy If it's that's a that's the
thing if it's current era, like we're not talking hand
checking and Bulls played it was more football than basketball
back if you put that Bulls team in this era.

(01:43:20):
Good lord, yeah, good lord. Yeah, you couldn't. You mean
to tell me, You mean to tell me you were
going to try to stay in front of Michael Jordan's
and you couldn't put your four arm in his Remember
what Joe might meet him at the top of the
circle and h his forearm right on top of his

(01:43:43):
hip bone and just try his best to control Jordan's. Yeah, no,
you can't do that. You can't touch him, can't lay
a finger on him. Now, granted that would change up
some of Scottie Pippen's defense, but but you gotta remember this.
He'll give you thirty as well. It wasn't like he'll

(01:44:06):
give you thirty. But here's the other thing is you
could go back and forth with this hypothetical matchup. Is
it weird to you at all? Right before the playoffs
this year, you're talking about some hypothetical matchup that will
never take place, Like, why does that seem weird to
you at all? Yeah? It does. It seems weird to me.

(01:44:32):
Could you imagine in the NFL. Before the playoffs, Tom
Brady goes on a podcast or it's his own show
or whatever, and he's like, you know, I know the
playoffs are about to begin, but you know our O
four Patriot team, I put him against everybody. You know what,
I'll say, this is the best team ever, Like right
before the playoffs beginning. That'd be weird, Like why what

(01:44:54):
does it matter? That's I don't know, man, I just
I'm looking and I'm like, yeah, what about the what
was that two thousand and two thousand and one Lakers? Lakers? Yeah, right,

(01:45:27):
two thousand and one Lakers, two thousand one Lakers who
on the God's Green Earth was gonna guards you Quill
O'Neil on the Warriors. Yeah, and you and you might say, oh,
it's fine because we're going Do you remember which killing
it was averaging in the finals. It was obscene that

(01:45:49):
he was the finals m v P all three years
in a round forty four and like twelve who he
did not have a jump shot and was if he
owned free throws. He was averaging forty four and twelve right,

(01:46:10):
Because I mean, I just I don't know, man, I
don't know. Yeah, No, that's Yeah, Now that was a
good team. That Warriors team was a phenomenal team. They were,
They were tremendous, phenomenal team. But yeah, I know it right,

(01:46:31):
like the eras, the eras matter. If you put that
Warriors team back in the Bulls era, Bro, that's which
is tougher. That's a good question. Which is tougher. Is
it the Warriors being back in the Bulls era or
is it the Bulls being in the Warriors era? Whether
it's definitely the other way around. It's it's it's the

(01:46:51):
first Warriors being back in that era. We're acting like
the Bulls didn't have three point shooters. No, they absolutely right.
So if you put him in this error where a
Steve Kerr are John Paxson could shoot twelve threes a game?

(01:47:11):
Are nine threes a game that you just couldn't do that? Yeah?
All right, Michael Jordan's made hit what seven in a row?
Well six in the drug Yeah, nobody was shooting threes.
So if you changed that and put players in this error,

(01:47:33):
it wasn't like they couldn't shoot, they just didn't shoot.
They just didn't. Yeah, we need to make this happen.
Let's get on it. We need to make Week one
in the NFL start next Sunday. Then we need nineties
Bowls against the Warriors. We need to make that happen.

(01:47:54):
Not what we're making happen right now. Is the man
who makes magic happen. He's the man who bring smiles
to faces. He is the man who with poise, shared
shared determination and uh smoothness unlike me right now, he
delivers hard hitting, concise action. He is a friend of America.

(01:48:17):
He is Mr Steve the Seger. Hello again, gentlemen. You
were referencing NBA ratings earlier and what this play in
would be like because we had toward the postseason. The
ratings are out for the cable the national channels ESPN,
TNT games for the whole regular season, they average one
point four million viewers. By comparison, Swamp people got almost

(01:48:38):
one point two million this week on History Channel. By
the way, the same night Thursday night, the NHL was
on ESPN. That was four hundred fifteen thousand viewers with
the estimate not not four million, four hundred thousand for
the NHL, and it's been getting a lot of that
on National gable this week. Well, Steph Curry has played
at Golden States playoff game and it is in Game one,

(01:49:00):
the Warriors leading forty three over Denver under three minutes
to go in the first half. Curry coming off the
bench tonight after his foot injury. He had been out
for a month. First quarter, no shots taken in six minutes.
He's now OH for four in the second quarter. The
Warriors are up to earlier. It was a dominant win
for Philadelphia at home over Toronto one thirty one, one eleven.

(01:49:23):
Scottie Barnes of the Raptors left with a sprained ankle.
He had fifteen points, ten rebounds, eight assists. Minnesota one
at two seed Memphis one thirty to one seventeen, and
Utah got a game or game one victory at Dallas
nine three. We'll see if game two of Luka Dons,
which is on the court. It doesn't seem like it,
but he was out today with the strain calf. Dallas
shot thirty eight percent from the floor. In the NHL

(01:49:46):
fourteen games on the Saturday schedule. St. Louis clinched the
playoffs spot, Boston clinched the playoff berth. We do have
the U s f L starting tonight halftime New Jersey
fourteen seven over Birmingham. That's on Fox TV. There's a
game on FS one tomorrow night Tampa Bay against Pittsburgh
in Major League Baseball. We've got a raindo lay at Baltimore.
It's actually hail in Baltimore. Fifth inning Baltimore to nothing

(01:50:09):
on the New York Yankees. Phillies have just won ten,
three at the Marlins, Giants, one at Cleveland, beating Guardians
four to two, and the St. Louis Cardinals, trying to
go to five and two on the young season, are
still up to nothing at Milwaukee. The game is in
the bottom of the eighth inning, notable because it was
one nothing most of the night. Pulled a young in
RBI double, but the former Mets lefty Stephen Matts was

(01:50:31):
Tonight's starting pitcher. Through shutout ball into the sixth inning,
six strikeouts, no walks. They've held the Brewers offense to
just three hits so far. The only bad thing for
the Cardinals is Paul gold Schmidt over four. He's batting
one sixty on the early season, but a lot of
wins for St. Louis so far. Dave Roberts call St.
Louis and say I think you should pull Stephen Matts.

(01:50:52):
That would happen. Uh, that would be a no, thank you.
So you completely disagree with the taking Kirchall out this week.
I mean, I'm just joking around. I get it. There's
a lockout limited off season and he missed the playoffs
and didn't pick up a ball until January. And yeah,
I would have I would have put him out there

(01:51:12):
for the eighth inning just to see. Let's say he
gives up a hit with the first ball, then it's
even worse because if you throws shut up ball in
the eighth and then you take him out. I mean
he kind of has to go all nine innings or
else just the seven when you took him out, right,
what if he what if he gets through the eighth
and five pitches? Yeah, there you go. That were that
were in business. Absolutely Yeah, although as Kershaw himself said

(01:51:33):
that day, I hadn't thrown eighty pitches even in my
tune ups for this game and through eight in that game.
By the way, it was Jackie Robinson night across Major
League Baseball last night, and everyone on the field in
the majors were his number forty two, with the number
in Dodger Blue, this time for the seventy five anniversary.
Dodger Stadium will host the All Star Game this summer July,

(01:51:55):
which is Rachel Robinson's one birthday, Jackie's wife, and she
was at Dodger Stadium last night. Jackie Robinson grew up
in Pasadena, played at u c l A back to you,
Thank you, Steve Brian noany from salam with you here
on Fox Sports Radio. NFL Draft less than two weeks away,
very much looking forward to it. First round. There's a

(01:52:15):
player in particular, and I think it's interesting because it
leads to a bigger discussion. Big man Trayvon Walker out
of Georgia. So he's got the physical tools, he's got size, quickness, strength,
all that good stuff. But the production in college only
nine and a half sacks in three seasons, and so

(01:52:37):
to me, I think if you look at Trayvon, it
leads to a greater discussion. You would love to have
a blend of great physical tools depending on the position right,
great physical tools and production in college. You would love
both of those things. But if it's more of an
either or scenario here, would you be more interested If

(01:53:00):
you're one of the draft head Haunt shows for particular team,
would you look more towards the tools that a player
has to work with, right, like the physical gifts, or
would you look more towards the production and what that
guy did in college all day? Tools all day. That's easy,

(01:53:22):
and that's why Trayvon Martin's probably tray Hunt Walker is
probably gonna go in the top five's tools, right, say,
all right, nine and a half secks. All right, great,
the dude has all the physical tools right there. Yeah,
and you know you get a whole another level of
coaching on the next level. Right, The difference between college

(01:53:42):
and pros, it's it's too vast, right like you, especially
when it comes to you know, a defensive end. Defensive players,
they got the tools, then you can build the rest.
That's right. Yeah. Look, man, it's not to say that
production in college doesn't matter. But if this is, you know,

(01:54:07):
a productive player that that doesn't have the measurables, that
guy is gonna slide in the draft. It doesn't mean
they can't play. There are plenty of players that don't
have the measure measurables that were stars in the NFL.
And there are some players that had measurables that didn't
do squat in the NFL. But I think more times
than not, you're gonna be better off going with the

(01:54:29):
guy with tools. What does it really matter in the NFL?
The guy who, let's say you played at Texas and
he played big boy football. What does it really matter
if you carved up some big twelve teams that didn't
play defense and a bunch of guys that didn't make
it to the NFL. What does it really matter. It
doesn't matter as much as the tools that you have

(01:54:51):
to work with the tools of paramount. Yeah, because now
you can build, and you can create, you can do
all kinds of things. That's right, that's right, absolutely, all right.
We'll close it down in style, right around the corner,
the best possible matchup. And also it was a silly statement,
But why make the statement? What's behind it? We'll get

(01:55:13):
to that. I'm Brian No, he's he from salam This
is Fox Sports Radio, Brian though, he's he from Salam
here on Fox Sports Radio. So Golden State with an
eleven point lead at halftime. They're up fifty eight forty

(01:55:35):
seven on the Nuggets and Steph Curry that a whole
lot of playing time, about twelve minutes in the first
half back from that foot injury, but hit a three
at the end of the first half. So he's only
got five points. But the story for Golden State right
now Jordan Pool. The emergence of Jordan Pool. Seventeen first
half points. He's six for six from the field. He's

(01:55:58):
really stepped up right. Obviously, Clay didn't play at the
beginning of the season. Steph got hurt towards the end
of the season. But Jordan's Pool. He's played good basketball
for a while now down the stretch he's probably great basketball.
And that's what you want when when you lose your
your stars and someone has to step up and and

(01:56:18):
and take that that space, you want them to develop
like Jordan Pool is developing. Yeah, Clay was out, Steph
was out. He's just getting better and better. So now
when the playoffs roll around, he's playing at a high,
high level, very confident. Team trusts him. He's out there
and you can tell the difference. And that's what playoff

(01:56:39):
basketball is about. Mm hmm, absolutely it is. Um what
would be your best potential finals matchup? I would go
because I was thinking I started with the East, and
I'm like, all right, I'd be interested in the Sixers,
the box defending champs, right of course, the Nets And

(01:57:00):
I whittled it down. I said, I'm gonna go with
the Nets. Give me the storyline, give me the trauma,
give me k D all that stuff. And I'm like, oh,
it's obvious. It's clear as day. It's gotta be Nets Warriors, right,
it's dripping in story. That would be the marquee one.
It's gotta be Would that be yours? That'd be number

(01:57:20):
one for you to okay, we would be number two.
If it's not um the Bucks and the Sounds rey match,
I would go. And there's no right or wrong, right
I would go. I'd be more interested in Nets Sons
instead of running it back Bucks Sons. It would feel like,

(01:57:41):
I don't know, we're back in the Warriors calves, like
run it back and back in back days. You know.
I'd rather see a new team in there and think
about k D trying to win his first championship away
from Golden State, Chris Paul trying to win his first championship.
I like that a little bit better. I'd go Nets Sons.
Maybe it's just because I'm all in on the nets.

(01:58:02):
You know you are. That's something else. Danny g with
us trusted producer. He put this out on Twitter the
Fox Sports Radio account. Well, no, start to gamble on
sports again. I took it off for lent right Easter.
Yeah it's over. We're gonna be looking for Easter eggs

(01:58:23):
and Brian's gonna be calling his bookie. That's what he's
gonna be doing. So what do you think, big man?
Should I get in on an NBA playoff bet? Maybe
NFL draft bet? What do you think is the best
market for me? I'm not going to lynn to your dereliction. Okay,
like I'm I'm I'm I'm not. I'm not gonna be

(01:58:44):
a part of that. Okay, okay, all right. Hey, by
the way, if we circle back, we were talking about
Lebron James. He made the statement after the Lakers season
that the season wasn't a failure. They put their hard
hats on, they worked hard, just didn't work out. Of course,
it's silly, But my question to you is why, what's
behind it? He's not a stupid guy at all. Why

(01:59:08):
would he make that statement and think it was gonna fly.
I've really been trying to to find it. And I
don't know why. I don't know why you would say
something like that and a clear and obvious failure. Why
you would say it wasn't a failure, hey man? Just
because you get up and and and you you study

(01:59:31):
and you do all the things, you go take the
test and you feel it. You don't get to claim
that you you didn't feel it, right, sure? Yeah, yeah,
you went and worked hard, and I guess you worked
hard and tried because that's what your job is. Now.
If you're not success successful at that job, then it's
a failure. Just be open and honest. I'm with you people,

(01:59:56):
and fail. Sure, And it's okay to say that. And
people don't worst to say you didn't fail when you did.
But that's the thing people feel themselves. It's ego. If
I work hard, then I can't possibly fail. There you go,
you can, and you can and you did. No, that's
a good theory right there. One thing that I was

(02:00:16):
thinking this might be part of it. Tell me what
you think. Lebron has talked numerous times about controlling the narrative, right,
and there are some times where I think he just
tries to pull a Jedi mind trick where he's like, no,
it wasn't a failure, as if people are gonna hear
that and be like he's got a point. Yeah, he
wasn't a failure, and that just does more harm than good.

(02:00:38):
Like we saw the season. We we have brains and eyes.
You know, it was the biggest failure ever. So I
don't know, maybe that's part of it too, where he's
trying to control the talking points and it just doesn't
work like that sometimes, certainly not in that case. No, No,
you know, hey, by the way, did you did you
hear this story about Tom Brady the uh the touchdown

(02:01:01):
he threw to Mike Evans when Tampa lost to the Rams.
Touchdown supposed to be his final touchdown football. So it
sold that auction for over five hundred thousand dollars. So
what happened was a settlement has been reached to avoid
the sale. The sale is avoided no longer a thing now,

(02:01:27):
So if you're the dude who had the football who
sold it for that, now you're the guy who's out
of luck. That's how it works out. But here's a lesson,
big man, for these suckers who get their hands on
