my take on this is the coaches at these schools

for years. Man. Years, you get great players, you win,
you get great contracts, and if you don't get great players,
you lose, and now you're fighting for a job, you're
losing your job, you're trying to find another job. The
fact that the players can finally benefit from themselves, from

their talent. I love it. And they say, oh, some
type of guidelines need to be put in. That may
be the case. But when a coach is coaching at
and I'm not gonna put a school down, so I'll
say at a lower level school, and then he can
go to a upper level school. And you're making a

million dollars at this lord level school, one point five million,
and then you go make seven eight nine million dollars.
Now you're linking Riley. You're gonna get a hundred million,
your Dobbo Sweeney, you're getting close to a hunter mill.
Whatever they're getting, it's off the backs of these players.
It's off the backs of the players, So why can't

they benefit off themselves? But other people can benefit off
of them, and so they want guidelines because they don't
like that the players now are making money and looking
out for themselves and not looking after you. There may
be some guidelines to be put in. But if Jordan
Atison can win the bulliting the coffin, he's at pit
and he can make no money off of n il deal,

one program to go to another. Are you doing what's

I remember this like it was yesterday. Man. We were
nine and two going to the Citrus Bowl in nineteen
nine and Nick Saban was my coach, and he came
in on Wednesday. We we we're preparing for the bowl

game to play the Florida Gators down the Citrus Bowl.
M He comes in, he said, listen, I know you
guys are hearing the rumors about me leaving the l
s U. He said, I'm not going anywhere. I'm committed
to the program. I'm gonna finish what I started. I
bought you guys in here so you can play football,
graduate and you know, do what doever you guys you

want to do. But I'm committed to the program. I'm
here to stay. Guess what gon l s u through
thirty six million dollars in his face. He was gone
the next day. I haven't seen them since. So now
you have guys like Dabbo Sweeney, Pat Nardoozy and and
uh Nick Saban jump behind the podium now and saying listen, uh, now,

these kids are leaving his programs to go get money. Um,
isn't that what you just did when I was in
college and you stood at the podium and told me
he was committed to the program, and he wasn't leaving.
The next day he was gone. But but when I
go into his office as a pet the top ten pick,
he tells me I should stay in school, and in

all actuality, he beat me out the door before the
season was the season wasn't even though he was gone.
He didn't even coaches in the bowl game. Bobby Williams did.
But he was trying to tell me to stay in
school and come back and play for another year because
he thought that he was still going to be the
coach at Michigan State until ella, as you offer them
that deal because I would make him look better, but

he left before I could leave. Man, the players have
never had as much power as they have and it
needs to stay that way. And oh, they're they're being bribed,
they're being it doesn't matter they're being They're able to
benefit offer their talent, which should be the case. Hopefully

it stays this way. Hopefully if they do put guidelines in,
it's strictly not to take away from the player, but
just to put some structure in to what's going on.
Don't don't take away from the player. Continue to let
him do what he's doing. Um. Because if a coach
can leave White cant a player that I will never

never change that stance. There's a lot of people that
may disagree. But when you're a player and you come
from where we come from, and you grow up how
we grew up. When you have a chance to make
any type of money, UM better sooner than later, it's
always a great thing. And so that's my take on it.
I wish LaVar was here to get his take on it,

because I know he's starting the company to help players
capitalize on the N I L deal to see what
his thoughts would be on that. But he ain't here,
he's at the spring game. And also it's a two
way street because now these young men know that I
have a possibility to make a lot of money wine
in college. So you know, and and you know what
that does in the realm scheme of things. They're get

in better shape, they start to play better, you look
better as a coach. And now these players are actually
chasing something to get to where they want to get
to the Obviously everybody probably wants to get to the NFL.
That's not gonna happen. But now they've got a chance
to make some money in college. So now they're gonna
perform better hoping they can get one of these deals. Yes,

we have time for a legendary more Ryan or uh,
let's do legendary moments. The big old g Willie Mack,
long beach finest who has presents conversations with a leg
and now this is your legendary moment. Do you have

an example of a time where that became clear to
you where it was like I gotta tighten up for
like this is real. Yeah, I mean when I came out,
when I left high school, I was the first person
in my family to go to college the bar so um.
My thing is, I don't want to go back to
the hood. I don't want to go back and fail

like I've seen so many of my friends and homies do.
I don't want to build myself in a situation where
I might make a bad decision. And I want to provide.
I want to help my family. I want to grow.
I want to be able to do things. You know.
So that clicked for me. And once I made it
to the point that I wanted to make it as

far as getting drafted, then now you've got something to prove.
Now you got your pride. Now you've got a responsibility.
Now you've got people that you're responsible for. In my eyes,
I never wanted my mom and dad to work again ever.
You know, I wanted to be able to take care
of my sisters and family members. I wanted to be
able to do things. I wanted to be able to

play the game I love that I've been playing since
I was six and seven. It was never really about
the money to me. I didn't look at it like
I'm playing for money. I gotta do this. It was
a passion for the game, and it was it was
it was my life and what I wanted to be,
and I go back to so a lot of things
that was more important than me checking off you know,
(11:03):
how much was I gonna do here? Do there? Yeah,
that's a part of the business side of it. But
if that's all you're doing it for, then you ain't
gonna really last long because you're not gonna have a
love for the game and you're not gonna sacrifice and
do everything you have to do for the games. And
I think that's the difference between the elite. They're really great,
um the All Pros, the Pro Bowls, the Hall of

Famous versus guys get in for a little while. That's
talent that they don't have to work ethic, they don't
have to love, and they don't last long. Man. That
that was a perfect legendary moment for what we were
just talking about. What he say, I want to from

for my family and take care of him. And he
had to go to college then get to the league
to do that. I believe Willie mac was a fifth
pick Um. Me and Willie mc get along quite well. Uh.
Obviously he went to the renown high school out here,
Long Beach, Polly Um the jack Rabbits. I coached there. Um.

Part of it was because of Antonio Piris when a
p left, I stayed coaching there because of Willie mack
Um trying to help him mentor these kids. He's very
involved at Long Beach, probably very involved in the community.
He has a youth football organization called the Long Beach
Patriots that does a ton for these kids. Just yesterday,
I just met a coach, or not just meet him,

I reconnected one of the coaches, trying to help him
with some kids and and mentor those kids, but provide
for his family. And Willie max day he would have
been able to provide for him in college with the
n IL deal. But so uh, it's just a completely
different dynamic. But Willie mack is, Uh, He's done a lot.

It's a lot of them kids that go to Long
Beach Polly that he's still that I still deal with,
but he deals with probably on a much greater level,
trying to help him navigate through things and so he
not just talking and he's actually out there living it. Yeah. Man, Uh,
I had an opportunity to obviously play against uh or

Willie mac for I mean ten twelve years over the
tenure while we were able to play and losing to
a f C championship games to him in Pittsburgh and
them being able to, you know, go on and win
those Super Bowls with with Brandon and Rodney Harrison and
that crew. Man. We just couldn't beat him, and he

was an animal on the outside. Man. I remember when
I was in college watching him at USC and you know,
just going back to the n I L stuff where
you know us, you know, I started playing football when
I was seven years old and I caught my first
I was like downing out like a five yard out
and ran eighty yards and I knew right then that
was what I wanted to do. And I was seven
years old, and and it's it's it's similar to you know,

to listen to him and and and my journey and
a lot of us that were able to to to
get to that level. But to just say, you know,
I don't my mom and dad to work anymore. I
want to be able to provide for my family. But
now these guys in in college, they don't have to
wait to get to the NFL to be able to
put some money in their politive provide for themselves and

to feed themselves and to take care of the family
like they can do it now. And that's the difference
between you know, when we came into the league and
what this new generation is now because because listen, if
you didn't make it out of college, you know, you
you wouldn't go to the NFL. Like there was no payday.
(14:40):
So we all knew that, and it was it was
so hard and so competitive to get to that level.
You know, I kind of feel that it's a little
bit easier now because the game was just a lot
more physical when we were playing. But you know, with
that being said, man, I'm I'm happy for those guys
that they can get to a place to where a

lot of these guys won't get to the NFL who
will get in night in n i L deals in
college and that would be probably some of the most
money that they're making in life doing this four year
spreading college. Because not all guys that get in a
n i HEL deals are going to the NFL and
going to the n NFL. That's not that's not Eton Stone.

So just like a guy like a Jordan Addison or
whoever the next one may be, Man, go out and
then get your money. If they got three million dollars
on the table out there waiting for you. Man, you
better go get that or your mom and daddy's gonna
tell you boy, you're gonna get that money straight up

foot in the league, trying to find a spot in
the team that fits him. He seems to have found

as an NBA player moving forward. This series, in this
playoff run, could have done that. He's now not afforded
that opportunity because of a player that was dirty. And

you're messing with his livelihood because now he can't play.

I want to fight Dylan Brooks, Like that's almost fighting,
almost like it was intentional. I want a fighting because
it is because now I got a chance to slow
John Rand down. If I do that, my career for

to happen, and it's unfortunate because we don't know how
to go to State. It's gonna win the series. John

Game two. They knew he was taking every shot and

and they almost had a chance to win Game one

much like if I got to miss five games and
you knocked me out, you should miss five games. But

team president Dan Ventrell alleging that he was fired yesterday
in retaliation for raising concerns about a hostile work environment
in the Raiders organization with the NFL. Ventrell told the
Las Vegas Review Journal newspaper, quote, multiple written complaints from

employees that Raiders owner Mark Davis created a hostile work
environment and engaged in other potential misconduct caused me grave concern.
I firmly stand by my decision to elevate these issues
to protect the organization and its female employees. Unquote again
that a statement by former Raiders president Dan Ventrell to

the Las Vegas Review Journal. The NFL says it will investigate.
In Major League Baseball, the Philadelphia Phillies just placed in
fielder D D. Gregorios on the ten day injured list
with a left niece rain. On the scoreboard, right now,
the Dodgers have a one nothing lead over the Cubs
going to the bottom of the second inning at Wrigley
and the Cincinnati Reds they entered today with a three

is gonna be traded and he hasn't been traded yet.
Maybe trade Lance is not making a progression and to

Garoppolo is still the quarterback for the forty nine is

say they're underwhelmed. But Tray Lance, that tells me that
he's not ready to assume the position of being their

franchise quarterback. So that's why Jimmy Garoppolo is still in
the forty nine. I don't know what's going on behind

if he's getting better or is his injury hindering him
from getting to the player that he wants to be.

listen that Jimmy Garoppolo was not traded by draft Day

losing your job, you're trying to find another job. The
fact that the players can finally benefit from themselves, from

their talent. I love it. And they say, oh, some
type of guidelines need to be put in. That may
be the case. But when a coach is coaching at
and I'm not gonna put a school down, so I'll
say at a lower level school, and then he can
go to a upper level school. And you're making a

million dollars at this lord level school, one point five million,
and then you go make seven eight nine million dollars.
Now you're linking Riley. You're gonna get a hundred million,
your Dobbo Sweeney, you're getting close to a hunter mill.
Whatever they're getting, it's off the backs of these players.
It's off the backs of the players, So why can't

they benefit off themselves? But other people can benefit off
of them, and so they want guidelines because they don't
like that the players now are making money and looking
out for themselves and not looking after you. There may
be some guidelines to be put in. But if Jordan
Atison can win the bulliting the coffin, he's at pit
and he can make no money off of n il deal,

of course you should enter the portal Jordan and go
get paid. Why wouldn't you? Because the coaches have done
this for years and years and years and years. And
the people that are against it, if that just makes

these kids for years? You suspended kids for no reason.

if the coach leaves, he never has to sit out
of year. Every Just look, just look for where we
come from. Just in the last ten years of Todd Gurley, A. J. Green,
Chase Young, these kids getting suspended for Peter, let's go
to our Peter Warwick lost the Heisman Trophy because he

got free clothes from Dillard's. Like what Reggie bus lost
the Heisman because he was broken. He was getting money
to help his family to go from that to this.
They don't like it, and it's not fair to the

a player leaves, he you gotta sit out. Oh, let's

freedom like the coaches have the freedom, Because if you're
a coach and you're using your blessed players, you use

coach football, you're looking at yourself and you go from
the season you had last year to a losing season?
Are you really that good of a coach that? I'm sorry, coach, Coach,
I'm sorry. I'm doing what's best for me, not what's
best for you. I'm sorry. I'm sorry because if I'm
not mistaken, that's what these coaches do when you leave
one program to go to another. Are you doing what's

best for the player, what's best for you and your family? Man? Sorry, coach,
I remember this like it was yesterday. Man. We were
nine and two going to the Citrus Bowl in nineteen
nine and Nick Saban was my coach, and he came
in on Wednesday. We we we're preparing for the bowl

game to play the Florida Gators down the Citrus Bowl.
M He comes in, he said, listen, I know you
guys are hearing the rumors about me leaving the l
s U. He said, I'm not going anywhere. I'm committed
to the program. I'm gonna finish what I started. I
bought you guys in here so you can play football,
graduate and you know, do what doever you guys you
(06:19):
want to do. But I'm committed to the program. I'm
here to stay. Guess what gon l s u through
thirty six million dollars in his face. He was gone
the next day. I haven't seen them since. So now
you have guys like Dabbo Sweeney, Pat Nardoozy and and
uh Nick Saban jump behind the podium now and saying listen, uh, now,
(06:44):
these kids are leaving his programs to go get money. Um,
isn't that what you just did when I was in
college and you stood at the podium and told me
he was committed to the program, and he wasn't leaving.
The next day he was gone. But but when I
go into his office as a pet the top ten pick,
he tells me I should stay in school, and in
(07:06):
all actuality, he beat me out the door before the
season was the season wasn't even though he was gone.
He didn't even coaches in the bowl game. Bobby Williams did.
But he was trying to tell me to stay in
school and come back and play for another year because
he thought that he was still going to be the
coach at Michigan State until ella, as you offer them
that deal because I would make him look better, but
(07:28):
he left before I could leave. Man, the players have
never had as much power as they have and it
needs to stay that way. And oh, they're they're being bribed,
they're being it doesn't matter they're being They're able to
benefit offer their talent, which should be the case. Hopefully
(07:48):
it stays this way. Hopefully if they do put guidelines in,
it's strictly not to take away from the player, but
just to put some structure in to what's going on.
Don't don't take away from the player. Continue to let
him do what he's doing. Um. Because if a coach
can leave White cant a player that I will never

never change that stance. There's a lot of people that
may disagree. But when you're a player and you come
from where we come from, and you grow up how
we grew up. When you have a chance to make
any type of money, UM better sooner than later, it's
always a great thing. And so that's my take on it.
I wish LaVar was here to get his take on it,
(08:31):
because I know he's starting the company to help players
capitalize on the N I L deal to see what
his thoughts would be on that. But he ain't here,
he's at the spring game. And also it's a two
way street because now these young men know that I
have a possibility to make a lot of money wine
in college. So you know, and and you know what
that does in the realm scheme of things. They're get
(08:53):
in better shape, they start to play better, you look
better as a coach. And now these players are actually
chasing something to get to where they want to get
to the Obviously everybody probably wants to get to the NFL.
That's not gonna happen. But now they've got a chance
to make some money in college. So now they're gonna
perform better hoping they can get one of these deals. Yes,
(09:15):
we have time for a legendary more Ryan or uh,
let's do legendary moments. The big old g Willie Mack,
long beach finest who has presents conversations with a leg
and now this is your legendary moment. Do you have
(09:36):
an example of a time where that became clear to
you where it was like I gotta tighten up for
like this is real. Yeah, I mean when I came out,
when I left high school, I was the first person
in my family to go to college the bar so um.
My thing is, I don't want to go back to
the hood. I don't want to go back and fail
(09:57):
like I've seen so many of my friends and homies do.
I don't want to build myself in a situation where
I might make a bad decision. And I want to provide.
I want to help my family. I want to grow.
I want to be able to do things. You know.
So that clicked for me. And once I made it
to the point that I wanted to make it as
(10:18):
far as getting drafted, then now you've got something to prove.
Now you got your pride. Now you've got a responsibility.
Now you've got people that you're responsible for. In my eyes,
I never wanted my mom and dad to work again ever.
You know, I wanted to be able to take care
of my sisters and family members. I wanted to be
able to do things. I wanted to be able to
(10:41):
play the game I love that I've been playing since
I was six and seven. It was never really about
the money to me. I didn't look at it like
I'm playing for money. I gotta do this. It was
a passion for the game, and it was it was
it was my life and what I wanted to be,
and I go back to so a lot of things
that was more important than me checking off you know,
(11:03):
how much was I gonna do here? Do there? Yeah,
that's a part of the business side of it. But
if that's all you're doing it for, then you ain't
gonna really last long because you're not gonna have a
love for the game and you're not gonna sacrifice and
do everything you have to do for the games. And
I think that's the difference between the elite. They're really great,
um the All Pros, the Pro Bowls, the Hall of
(11:25):
Famous versus guys get in for a little while. That's
talent that they don't have to work ethic, they don't
have to love, and they don't last long. Man. That
that was a perfect legendary moment for what we were
just talking about. What he say, I want to from
(11:45):
for my family and take care of him. And he
had to go to college then get to the league
to do that. I believe Willie mac was a fifth
pick Um. Me and Willie mc get along quite well. Uh.
Obviously he went to the renown high school out here,
Long Beach, Polly Um the jack Rabbits. I coached there. Um.

Part of it was because of Antonio Piris when a
p left, I stayed coaching there because of Willie mack
Um trying to help him mentor these kids. He's very
involved at Long Beach, probably very involved in the community.
He has a youth football organization called the Long Beach
Patriots that does a ton for these kids. Just yesterday,
I just met a coach, or not just meet him,
(12:30):
I reconnected one of the coaches, trying to help him
with some kids and and mentor those kids, but provide
for his family. And Willie max day he would have
been able to provide for him in college with the
n IL deal. But so uh, it's just a completely
different dynamic. But Willie mack is, Uh, He's done a lot.
(12:51):
It's a lot of them kids that go to Long
Beach Polly that he's still that I still deal with,
but he deals with probably on a much greater level,
trying to help him navigate through things and so he
not just talking and he's actually out there living it. Yeah. Man, Uh,
I had an opportunity to obviously play against uh or

Willie mac for I mean ten twelve years over the
tenure while we were able to play and losing to
a f C championship games to him in Pittsburgh and
them being able to, you know, go on and win
those Super Bowls with with Brandon and Rodney Harrison and
that crew. Man. We just couldn't beat him, and he
(13:32):
was an animal on the outside. Man. I remember when
I was in college watching him at USC and you know,
just going back to the n I L stuff where
you know us, you know, I started playing football when
I was seven years old and I caught my first
I was like downing out like a five yard out
and ran eighty yards and I knew right then that
was what I wanted to do. And I was seven
years old, and and it's it's it's similar to you know,
(13:58):
to listen to him and and and my journey and
a lot of us that were able to to to
get to that level. But to just say, you know,
I don't my mom and dad to work anymore. I
want to be able to provide for my family. But
now these guys in in college, they don't have to
wait to get to the NFL to be able to
put some money in their politive provide for themselves and
(14:20):
to feed themselves and to take care of the family
like they can do it now. And that's the difference
between you know, when we came into the league and
what this new generation is now because because listen, if
you didn't make it out of college, you know, you
you wouldn't go to the NFL. Like there was no payday.
(14:40):
So we all knew that, and it was it was
so hard and so competitive to get to that level.
You know, I kind of feel that it's a little
bit easier now because the game was just a lot
more physical when we were playing. But you know, with
that being said, man, I'm I'm happy for those guys
that they can get to a place to where a
(15:02):
lot of these guys won't get to the NFL who
will get in night in n i L deals in
college and that would be probably some of the most
money that they're making in life doing this four year
spreading college. Because not all guys that get in a
n i HEL deals are going to the NFL and
going to the n NFL. That's not that's not Eton Stone.

So just like a guy like a Jordan Addison or
whoever the next one may be, Man, go out and
then get your money. If they got three million dollars
on the table out there waiting for you. Man, you
better go get that or your mom and daddy's gonna

But as far as the the Brooks file the other day,
in the first three minutes of that basketball game, once
I saw him like draw back and come across the head,

We haven't put it on a bulletin board and not
making a note of it. Even though Brooks won't playing
Game three, he suspended, but I think it's gonna be

He's been somewhat of a journeyman, trying to find a
foot in the league, trying to find a spot in
the team that fits him. He seems to have found
that spot after being in the G League, not in
the NBA, on this team, on that team, out I'm

as an NBA player moving forward. This series, in this
playoff run, could have done that. He's now not afforded
that opportunity because of a player that was dirty. And
I get playing hard and I get playing tough, but
you're messing with his livelihood because now he can't play.

I want to fight Dylan Brooks, Like that's almost fighting,
almost like it was intentional. I want a fighting because
it is because now I got a chance to slow

to happen, and it's unfortunate because we don't know how
to go to State. It's gonna win the series. John
Iran is gonna be John Rand go to State. They
don't have an answer for him, and that's evident from
Game two. They knew he was taking every shot and
they still couldn't stop him from getting into the pain

and they almost had a chance to win Game one
talk in Memphis, but I I thought it was dirty.
He in essence was suspended game too. They're suspending in
game three, and I've always thought this is a bit
much like if I got to miss five games and
you knocked me out, you should miss five games. But
Dylan Brooks should not have to miss the same amount
of games that Gary Pain. So I think the game

three suspension is fair if you're gonna suspend Draymond for
the game that he was in, or throw him out.
He didn't get suspended, throw him out for the game
that in Game one after he committed that flagrant too.

is gonna be traded and he hasn't been traded yet.
Maybe trade Lance is not making a progression and to

be a franchise quarterback like they hope he will be.
And maybe that's the and that's the main reason why
Garoppolo is still the quarterback for the forty nine is
we just said that. So now yesterday come out and
say they're underwhelmed. But Tray Lance, that tells me that
he's not ready to assume the position of being their

franchise quarterback. So that's why Jimmy Garoppolo is still in
the forty nine. I don't know what's going on behind
the closed doors or or what his you know, progression is. Uh,
if he's getting better or is his injury hindering him
from getting to the player that he wants to be.
