Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening the Fox Sports. Here are buddies. What's
going on? There? Is Dicky do right, Davis, I'm Steve Camino,
Spotty's here, Bobo, Danny g I see Ia sa there
Steve to show. Let's go. Happy Father's Day today. You
(00:21):
got me, Papa Poppy. Happy Father's Day to all the fathers.
Not right? Um, yeah, we'll talk about some father's son
athlete combos. We'll talk about a fight I saw today
that was embarrassing. Um, but I wanted to tell you,
can you turn Spots Mike on Bobo? Instead of what
are you doing? Even though you're doing it? I have
nothing to contribute, sorry, spot has very few good things
(00:43):
to say, and I felt like that was one of them.
Probably wasn't. Probably wasn't. I was gonna say, were you
part of that really lame fight? No? I was not. Okay,
he were right, But I'd imagine Comino's putting on a
smile because your Yankees lost today. I looked at the
game and I'm like, not an eight run was three?
(01:05):
It was pretty bad. It was eight three, and I said, God,
they're gonna win ten in a row. They're unstoppable. In
my mind, I'm like, they're ober ate at one point,
so they were up by five, yeah, but then a
Grand Slam later, they're right back in it. Blue Jay
showed a lot of fight today. They're not a bad team.
So they won and Yankees lost. Women. It is odd though,
because they were going for ten straight. Well, if they
(01:27):
would have won today, I had already done the math
in my head because I'm like, man, they're winning eight three.
They were going to be fifty and sixteen, and I'm like,
they're a pace to win like a hundred and twenty
plus games. I think today by blowing a five run lead,
remember in Rocky four, Bobo Danny, remember when Rocky Remember
(01:47):
when Rocky catches draw Go and he cuts him. He's like,
he's human, he's here. I feel like today might be
the beginning of the Yankees collapse. Wish that the Yankees
and the Yankees fans if you want. But it's just
one game, Rattled, Bro, It's just one game, Just one game, Rattled.
I'm not sweating it. I hope all your team's won.
(02:09):
We haven't been here since the Golden State Warriors one,
So congratulations to the Golden State Warriors fans still celebrating.
I hope you're enjoying your Stanley Cup finals. That continues
manyana right, but again, Happy Father's Day, Happy Pride Month,
June tenth weekend. A lot of people off tomorrow, and
you might even hear us this week on Fox Sports Radios,
(02:29):
Fox Sports Sunday now Covino and Rich, but I think
we'll be here on Tuesday as well. So listen, now,
what's up, Bobo? Here's my thing? Literally? Rich called out
Rocky four. Yeah, and me and Danny literally have to
sit here and look at each other like, what's that
Rocky for it? If you fall? Draco, this is a
random question. Yeah, do you know the other villains that
he fought? Another? If you if you don't know, leave
(02:51):
right now? Are you joking? I got fired yes to
answer No one, Apolo, No, no Spider, Yeah, sper what
about Mr T? And number two was um who was
he beat Apollo? One was that he went to distance?
(03:15):
I feel like now we know why they call him
Bobo exactly won he faces Apolo and he goes to distance,
won an Academy Award. Two was a great sequel he
beat Apollo. There are multiple montages and uh three of course,
thunder lifts whole Cogan with the exhibition. Then remember Mick dies,
(03:37):
Remember the spoiler alert Mick dies. He loses to Mr
to Mr T clubver Lang and then he beats him
in the rematch. But I guess for me, I just
it's been so many has been what seven? Yeah, but
you probably you and guys, you guys like you probably
know what happened to each star wars. No, that's not
why would you do that to me? You know who
(03:58):
won the quidditch championship. And Harry Potter too well, he
was into that. Bobo does make a point. It's it's
common knowledge for us. Maybe I just immediately Rocky four
is I thought it was, but I literally I thought
it was three, he said. I was like, wasn't literally, Danny,
wasn't it three? And he was like, I don't know.
Rocky five is infamously known for being the worst one
(04:21):
because there's no fight inside the ring. On the streets
Tommy gun Tommy Marrison, and Rocky six is Rocky Balboa.
I checked out after five. I checked out with Dixon.
Bo was good. Yeah, but I love that. I creed
one and two or I've seen them, but I don't
remember anything past four. These guys are living in the past, man. Yeah,
(04:42):
I mean I just I literally just looked it up.
Rocky four came out in five. I was two I
saw in theaters and in Rocky Balboa professional boxer Antonio
Tarver was Mason the line Dixon, So I mean, I
know I never saw that one. That's great, Hey, dude,
you got something to do this weekend. You got a
lot of you have more off for June. Teah, I
(05:03):
don't enjoy it. I'm in a parade, are you ye?
Kind of praye? Uh l? A Kingdom Day parade because
we didn't have one out here, and for Dr king
back in January because you know, it locked it down,
so they moved it to tomorrow. Grab Marshall, you got
like a baton or something. No, I'll be m c
and uh I'll be in the float them. I pitch
you in the front. That's Riches, Yeah, Riches in the
(05:27):
circus par Anyways, Fox Sports Sunday, and Rich is gonna
talk about a fight, a fight that he witnessed, A
lame fight. I don't know if it was any lamer
than the fight I saw yesterday. Arthur beatr Bev, who
knocked out Joe Smith in the second round. Or did
you like that something that went on right there? Better beef?
(05:49):
Guy's a beast? Did I switch the language up already? Oh?
No, no no, no, But let you know, I have nothing
to really say about it other than this. I went
to your barbecue yesterday, right, a lot of people getting together,
nice extended holiday weekend, summer sort of starting. Summer officially
starts on Tuesday, Father's Day weekend. So we went to
Rich's house and had a nice time. But I was like, oh,
(06:12):
I had a nice day of riches and I'll be
back just in time to watch his fight. So I
sort of sort of got myself all pumped for this fight.
I was gonna watch later on, and dude, I'm still
like settling in, and by the time I settle in,
the fight's over in a second round. Was so fired
down about it. You wait your whole week, your whole
day to watch some week ass two round fight, like
(06:35):
I just wanted some Did you leave the barbecue early
just to see this fight? No? I have no, not
at all. Early. Every most people ID loved by that point,
so it was there for another three hours. If you
left that you guys, stay late is how I look
at it. But no, I had to go to a
store and shut it down. Yeah, either way, there's that
feeling of ah, like you're like your Mets in the
(06:56):
World Series and when were they? You know, you just
wanted to go a little long. Let's say you left
my barbecue to see who fight? Who's it? Bitter b
IV captures the third light heavyweight title against Joe Smith
yesterday with a t KO. But this dude, Joe you
know who Joe Smith is. You'll know it in the
with this reelo cation program with the most generic name ever.
(07:17):
No Joe Smith. Joe Smith, if I'm not mistaken. He
was on the may Flower and we're gonna talk about
a fight in a minute. That's why I even bring
us up. Joe Smith is the dude who basically retired
Bernard Hopkins the Alien when he knocked him out of
the ring like Ring King, like the video game. Everybody
knocked him out of the ring. That's the sad though,
because BP has just done at that point. But Joe
(07:38):
Smith was the guy, so he lost bad yesterday. But
my whole point is you finally sit down, you grab
your drink, get a little popcorn going. By the time
I sat down the fight was over. I was like
Grant opening grand clothes in so happy to be here.
Not to talk about this fight, but yours that you're
(07:59):
about to hell us about in a few minutes. Can't
be any lamer than that fight, notly Ken, believe it
or not, even though our our turn bit b of
captured the light heavyweight title and a fight that you
and maybe seven other people in the world watch false
false fight fans like that and appreciate it, and I'll
tell you what you know you got out of it.
(08:20):
There's no way Canelo Alvarez, who lost the evil in
the same division, no way that Canello could compete with
guys that big. There's just no way. There's no way
these guys would eat him for lunch. And I'm a
big Canello guy. I love him. He's great. But these guys,
both of these dudes, would have had their way with
Canello was just too small. Back to reality. So anyway,
(08:42):
I hope you enjoyed your fights, your baseball, whatever it
is you're into. It's Fox Sports Sunday. Cavino and Rich
eight seven seven ninety nine on Foxes are number eight
seven seven ninety nine Fox, we wish you a happy
Father's Day, like we said fathers and before we hear
about Rich's fight, I know you reached down to your dad,
who's a big supporter of our Fox Sports radio show. Yes,
(09:11):
I did good talk. We had a great talk. What
I talked to I talked to my dad? Are you
are you talking about my observation? You want to get
to that now? Isn't that what you said? You were
wanting to get to the way you too just looked
at each other a moment ago. I wish we were
being streamed right now. Twenty years and I've never been
(09:31):
missing thrown off by you. Do you mean how this
going to start with something? Do you mean like what
we talked about your dad in the cameo? My throat hurts?
I mean the thing we said three times before the
show started. Do I have this written on my notes? Are? Yes?
(09:53):
So his father's dad, m honey, cabam meal. I I
talked to my dad because my dad is I think
he's one of the last humans on earth that loves
(10:14):
greeting cards. Dude, I don't appreciate a greeting card from
don't I really don't care at all, like greeting cards
in the mail. I go to a Hallmark store, go
to the drug store, like Happy Father's Day, generic card too,
Dad's old school loves Steve. What did your dad want that? Well,
here's the thing, you guys ever see creep Show. It's
(10:34):
Father's Day and I want my cake? You guys remember
that one or you're too young for that one. Somebody
out there remembers that. I take it. This segments not
sponsored by Hallmark Creep Show. I did a pole yesterday
on Father's Day and it was quite hilarious. You know
why because dad's are very lax about it. That don't
really care that much. Dad's are okay about high five
a card? How do you do a phone call yesterday?
(10:58):
Don't care? When did you give your dad on a
but macaroni tie? And he was cool with that? Yeah,
that's that they don't want something, but they do. That
was part of the poll is the fact that Father's
Day comes around, we normally have to barbecue. Are we're
going to get pizza? Are we get a meal? Just
put in front of us? Women get to go the
mothers get to go to Red Lobster, or you go
(11:19):
to crustaceans, or you go to Olive Garden, or you
go to the nice expensive restaurants while Dad's just get
hey Dad, happy father Day. Hear some socks. Yeah, no,
for sure, it's it's we want to play. I just
don't like kind of feel like my dad, like, I
just don't want to be bothered. Just don't bother me
on this day and I'll be good. But then again,
Bubbo is the guy that like celebrates his birthday. I
(11:41):
do set birthday. He's rail into it, so he would
he takes off from He is the guy that would
like really love Father's Day. You know my dad happy
loves the card. That's my point. And he hit me
up and he's like, you know, your sister sent me
a card, your brother sent me a card. Uh, you
did not. It's the one thing he goes, I don't.
(12:02):
I don't have many complaints about you, but you never
send the card. And I said, Dad, I posted a
beautiful old school picture and the new picture with you
and the grandkids, and did a little Facebook like a
beautiful Facebook message with some pictures. I think in two yeah,
but is that self serving? Like Spots said before the show,
(12:24):
I don't if you remember he said that before the show.
I think you forgot everything, and we talked about before
the show. But Spots said, that's more self serving and
gratifying for you than it is my dad. It's more
of a look at me and how great I am,
and that's everyone today. It is towards my dad rather
than just sending them him a message directly. Right, it's
about you know what it is. I'll give you an analogy.
(12:46):
It's like love languages, Like you're supposed to cater to their's.
So what good is it that you made a social
media post about your dad? If a card is what
means something to him? His love language is I really
appreciate a call. Put it on the mantel. You get
something that that that seeks to you, not to him.
(13:06):
But Spot said it best too, and then you throw
it out. I think some or mid school pictures and
a message on social media is so much more valuable
in two Hey, look at these old photos. I dug up.
I'll look at this classic photo from the eighties or
nineties and a message versus here's a Hallmark card that
I that I stamped and putting the mail and I
(13:27):
was like, dude, dad, Rich like that to me is
worthless to you. That's downplaying again. Like if we were
talking about relationships and a girl says, I love you know,
words of affirmation, and you say that's worthless to you.
To that woman, she wants to hear that she's valued.
Great Rich impersonation. But no, but you don't hear what
(13:49):
I'm saying, though I'm giving an analogy. It's like a
woman that says, I'm sure I appreciate love in the
form of gifts, and Rich says, well, that's dumb to you.
To her, gifts means something. To your dad, a card
means something. So whether or not you put value on that,
think it doesn't. I think I need to change his
(14:10):
mind then, because well then that's fine. You could say
in today's world, yours holds more weight, but to your
dad that doesn't matter. So I see, I see both
sides of this, But who's the card for your dad?
So what difference does it make? I mean, then that's
your one fair point, But I'm talking bigger picture. A card,
(14:30):
which you gotta know your little effort is put into.
But he's old school and that means something to him.
You walk up the block to CBS or right a
two bucks do your dad with and the top in
the card usually has like a tie on it or
like a grill or something, be fathers. You get him
a tie that he can cut out so you can
wear it. Yeah, when went like a perfect you know
(14:53):
you right at the top June, Oh he dated it
your dad than at the bottom richie, richie, and you
would write stuff in it and you don't have to
let do it all for you. Yeah, but you could
personalize it. So basically the question is you know what
(15:16):
holds more weight in two or doesn't matter who the
message is toward. Like for example, my parents aren't on
social media, nor did I get them a card, But
but does it with that matter at all? So you've
done no. No, I gave him a phone call, like
because I know that's all they really care about. Like
(15:36):
I would prefer from like a friend, a close friend.
I would much prefer on my birthday, let's say a
text directly to me that just says happy birthday, rather
than on my page on Facebook, where I have to
sift through everybody else that's doing the generic her birthday
every birthday, sending a message there. I want something personal,
so sending something directly is much more personal and rich.
(15:58):
Since this is Fox Sports the Day, we should probably
make this rule clear for our Fox Radio friends because
we've talked about it on our Patreon Cavino and Rich
like today is not a day or any sort of holiday,
Like today isn't the day where you're posting like some
ego driven thirst trap, like, hey, it's Father's Day. This
is where we see pictures of you and your father,
(16:20):
Pictures of you, Yeah, pictures of you and your kid.
I don't want to see pictures of you and your puppy,
or pictures of you flexing at the gym, or pictures
of you, you know, shaking your butt cheeks, Like that's
not appropriate for today's day. You know what. I also
have a weird problem with single moms that think that
they should get credit on Father's Day. You have Mother's Day.
I'm turnament, Michael. I don't know, you're gotta hit him.
(16:45):
I agree with you, but you know you're gonna get
Mother's Day. You're gonna your mother. There's a lot of
people your mother doing overtimes, you know. Incredible. I mean,
it's it's a hot take for sure, And I actually
agree with you. Yeah, you had your day. You have
your day. I'm with you. Yeah, you know what. It
goes back to a bobo said, though dads take like
(17:07):
they take the brunt of most of this stuff. They
don't get a lot of credit. Sort of a thankless day.
So to all the dad's out there, we're gonna honor
you again. We're gonna talk some father's son relationships and sports.
We'll do some of that, get your phone calls, um,
talk about the car, and talk about social media, talk
about Father's Day, and of course this fight that Rich
(17:27):
So which apparently was lamer than the one I watched. God,
I mean, I don't think they could be a lamer fight.
We'll get to all that Sunday, Father's Day on RETCH
on Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports Radio has the best

Apple Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcasts. Is
this a little Papa was a rolling stone? Perfect? Wherever
(18:33):
he laid ist? Was it home? And wait he die? Oh? Left?
This was alone? Look at you all right? Hey, if
you're listening in the future on our podcast, you're not
hearing a little slying the family Stone? I say you
keep the karaoke version a little who who? Who is
it is? The Temptations? Temptations? Did I see slying of
(18:53):
family Stone? Oh? My god? You didn't know druga was
Rocket Corps? Slow down. I don't know how you guys
are even right now. Hey, I was singing the song.
You knew the lyrics. I even hit the falsetto Cavino
and Rich on Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports, Sunday Sports
(19:14):
Entertainment and Life. Hope you having a great Father's Day.
Weekends poppies and pop boss and populos. And I didn't
guzzle like five coffees today, So maybe I'm a little
Maybe I'm a little off my game. Maybe my bio
rhythms are off. Who told us that once, Sugary Leonard?
I don't even remember who I knew that. I was
just letting your name drop. Well anyways, eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox. If you want to say hello
to Bobo and Danny g Cavino, Rich in Spot talking
(19:37):
little father's son action in a little bit. I hope
you enjoyed your fights. Rich's dad was expecting a card.
He didn't get one. Who wants a card? Older people?
To two older people? I let again, I'm beautiful, A
beautiful Facebook passage way more valuable. I was a little
disappointed my daughter didn't make me a card. Like, not
(19:58):
that I'm mad at her, but there's a littletre now
of what he wanted to break out the construction paper
and a little bit of huh, Rich, what you talked
about earlier totally hit home because I sent my dad
a message this morning, a text, and his reply back
was thanks dot dot dot for the best, for the
good wishes. Hope all is going well with you guys.
(20:21):
So what I read into this for the wishes now,
he wanted a card, he wanted, he wanted something. So
he's saying Yeah, thanks a lot for the text. You
know what it is. It's just like Dad's don't want
every want to admit that. You know, your dad at
least tells you straight up what he wants. Yeah, I know,
I try to because my dad's so up on it
be deceived as a little soft, right. Found was like, man, melody,
(20:43):
you know, I'm glad we had a nice lunch today
for Father's Day, but it would have been nice if
I got a card. Like it sounds a little lame, right,
So Dad's most of the time don't admit it. My
dad at least admits he wants an actual card, which
is wildly old school. But I get it. It's what
he wants. It's it's what you should. We're going to
give everybody listening to a Happy Father's Day from Fox
(21:06):
Sports Radio, Fox Sports Sunday, Covino and Rich. We need
Covino and rich T shirts. I would have just mailed
him one, been like Happy Father's Day. He would have
loved that. He would eat Yeah, he would have loved it. Yeah,
we got we got some em in Olympia. What's up, buddy,
You're on with Covina and rich Covino, Rich Danny g
spot Bobo to say your what's up guys? How you
what's up? Moving up in the ringks doing doing good? Man. Now,
(21:31):
I want to, you know, talk about this card thing
because I understand both points of view here. As you
know with Rich, I agree with the cards to me
are pointless, you know, partly because you know I can't
really see him. And second of all, just give me
a text, man, or like you know Facebook post Ya okay,
but you know I'd really like rather appreciate the text.
But at the same time, where if you're gifting somebody
(21:54):
something like you know, riches dad who has been asking
for a father there's day card for years and that
I should have done it because I should have done
it because it's what he But I think to myself, thanks,
call em and and thank you. I have a great day, brother.
Send them on like an old like Kevin mccrenold's you
(22:15):
got line around, Oh you mean baseball, a random card
like a tim toughle like eight six. I do. I
do think that. Listen, you're right, cove on. When you're right,
you're right, and I have to give you credit. In
a relationship with a co worker with a spouse, with
the parents. You have to accommodate what they want. It's
not it's not what I think is right right right,
(22:37):
you made you made the best point, like if you're him,
today's standard, which is a Facebook social media post. Now,
while I may be right in my own mind where
I'm like, well, a nice thought out message on Facebook
with some cool pictures of you eat, your grandkids and
you in the eighties when I was a little kids
that printed a nice if you printed it out to me,
there's a little more. It's a little more thought into
(22:59):
the Facebook message with accompanied photos opposed to dear dad,
love Rich sending the mail. I still stand by what
I said earlier though. Most dads are pretty about it.
You know, Hey, they don't care. They don't Moms will
say they don't want anything, but they really do. It's
nice to do something nice for dad's but they just
want to watch the game and be left alone. That's
all I would say. They want to know hassless. Yeah,
(23:24):
so I know Rich on his Father's Day. I know
you had a nice little plan for yourself. You know.
It's funny. On a side note, are Fox Sports Radio
Bus reached out and asked if we wanted to do
a show on Tuesday. We're like, yeah, sure, but Rich
was like, you know what, let me talk to Cavino
and we'll get back to you. I'm about to dominate
(23:45):
here on the softball field. And he sent the picture.
He sent the picture of the softball field in which
he was going to dominate to me and the boss
the boss Man. And if you zoom in on that picture,
it looks like you were playing against Tommy Losorda. It
isn't you know. I say that with all due respect,
but it was an eight five year old guy with
(24:06):
a beard. Billy. We're in a Dodgers jersey. If you
get out of here, that guy's at bad guys forty five.
I'm forty five. There's no way. So anyway, Yeah, I'm like, yeah,
it's really really easy to dominate when you're playing with
eighty year olds. Well in your mind, these eighty year
olds gotten what I would consider one of the more
(24:29):
embarrassing scuffles I had ever seen today. I just want
to I just want to bring this up for the
simple point that no grown men should be fighting over stupidity.
We're talking. I saw two guys today fight over bad calls.
In a softball game, like like they had to be
(24:49):
separated like grown men. Year old men had to be
pulled apart because they were shoving each other. Yeah, they
were shoving each other and malving off. And I'm like
thinking to myself, do you respect or do I just
like you know what I mean, Like there's two sides
to the story. Do you respect the passion level? You don't?
No matter what level you're playing at, you want to
see all all. You're passionate hard into the game, is
(25:13):
it or is it just like, hey, relax a little bit.
We're grown man having fun on a Father's Day Sunday.
Sometimes I'm like, do these people have nothing to lose?
Because my first thought is unless someone threatens harm to
my wife or kids, I'm not laying my hands or
baiting someone to fight. You're grown up. I mean some
(25:33):
people are quick to throw the hands, lawsuits. You've got money,
you don't do you want people messing with your your pockets.
It's just different breeds of people. Some people quick to
throw the hands. Do you think to yourself? And I
guess we know those guys our whole life, right when
you're playing little league to high school or college to
be like, hey, man, chill out. Does come on? You
have a whole group of guys look looking on like
(25:56):
a these two serious then you gotta go separate them
and you're like, yo, you as are grown men? Cool
it be safe? He was out. Yeah you what you
said to me? I mean shot Like, I'm like, come on.
You could say the same about professional sports. I know
there's a lot more on the line, but there's a
lot of money to be lost in reputation to be lost,
(26:17):
you know, for acting the fool. You see it all
the time. You see it all the time. We're talking
grown Well, they're they're young and the s Yeah, that's
the thing there if you see some guy, But how
silly you know, to to be fighting the way they
fight sometimes. But you're right, older man, you're supposed to
be having fun soft Sunday softball. What could be that
(26:41):
serious that you want to throw fists on Father's Day? No?
Less safe? He was out. It really was simple as that.
And then it was like, you know those guys that
are like, yo, you put your hands on me, I'm
gonna lay you out, and like, yo, you twenty five
years old, you're growing up. Some people never grow out
of that. And I think everyone listening that has one
body that you're like, oh, yeah, I know the one
(27:03):
guy that I would not bring to certain settings with me.
You probably could think of one guy if you can
us to the dudes I grew up with. Again, like
I said, it's just a different breed of person that
has well, sometimes you do have something loose, they just
don't care. Right. So again, I'm not saying I'm from
the toughest place and I'm from Union, New Jersey, a
(27:23):
bunch of mama's boys, but still quick to throw hands
if people get in their face. It's amazing, you know what,
what was your role on that? Peacemaker? I try to
I try to be peacemaker. I'm homelander. I'm yeah, I
try to play peacemaker. And then I think to myself, like,
I can't imagine being that fired up that I'm don't
(27:44):
you start thinking about like what someone could get from you?
Do you not think in those terms like lawsuits? Yeah?
Like no, I think like you could face assault charges,
end up in prison. How's that worth it? I'm with
you on that, but hey, keep your keep me hands
to yourself as that it? Do you have too much
to lose. Just you gotta be if we're going to
(28:04):
talk about this on Fox Sports Sunday, we gotta have
something in our back pocket to remind people when that
you know, when that moment happens, you have you got
a job in kids. In a world of social media,
heads prevailed, people are recording stuff chumped in public a
little bit, this public a singer though, you know what
I mean, You gotta get you gotta leave them with something.
(28:25):
You gotta burn them a little bit. You can't, you
know what I mean? Because then you just walk away
with you wait with your tail between your legs, like man,
I should have said this, should have did that? Look
like a chump? You feel bad about it. It's the
weakest feeling. I'm with you. Cooler heads prevailed walk away
from the scenario. But I'm saying you should have one
in your back pocket. N Let me think about that
while we go to Steve the Segar. At least hitting
(28:46):
with with a with a yo mama joke or something
for an update? What's up to Sager? Hello, there we go, gentlemen.
Matt Fitzpatrick won the US Open today by one stroke.
Dcki matsu Yama had the best day on the course
a final round sixty five, he moved up to a
fourth place, finished three shots back. This was Fitzpatrick's first
p G A tour victory. Will's alatoris tied for second.
(29:07):
He still hasn't one on the tour, but six top
tens and majors. Already was runner up for a second
straight Major Hockey Stanley Cup Final continues tomorrow night at
Tampa Bay. Colorado leads two games to done. Game four
will be Wednesday night at Tampa Bay. Colorado is seven
and oh on the road this postseason. NASCAR's Cup Series
was off this weekend and the Sunday night ball game.
(29:27):
The games at Houston and the Strows are up to
nothing on the White Sox now top of the fifth inning. Earlier,
the Angels won for nothing at Seattle, while Oakland won
for nothing over Kansas City. Padre star Manny Machado left
today's loss at Colorado with a sprained ankle. Rockies took
the game eight three and losing pitcher Blake Snell is
oh N four. Cleveland beat the Dodgers and closer Craig
(29:49):
Kimberl five to three. Kimball was oh and three this year.
E r A four point seven one, but with the
Padres lost, the Dodgers are still a half game ahead
of San Diego for first in the NL West. The
Cleveland Guardians are just one game behind the first place
Twins in the a L Central. Minnesota lost seven to
one at Arizona, lost to Chris Archer at Pittsburgh. Pirates
(30:11):
rookie Jackson Winski hit three homers, including the game winner
in the bottom of the ninth Pittsburgh for three over
San Francisco. Miami has six to winner at the Mets
sandyel Contra now seven and two for the Marlins e
r A one point seven to Brewers are now tied
for first in the NL Central with the Cardinals. Milwaukee
won six three at Cincinnati, while St. Louis last six
(30:32):
four at Boston. Toronto ten nine over the Yankee save
number seventeen for Jordan Romano and a note from the
New York Post with the headline of Max Scherzer could
make Mets return next week if rehab start goes to plan.
He's got to rehab start apparently scheduled for Tuesday in
the minors. If he actually comes back next weekend, that
(30:53):
would be five and a half weeks out with the
oblique stra not six to eight weeks and at the
College World Series, Texas A and m A liminated Texas
today ten to two. Back to you, Thank you to Sacre.
I'm looking at the major league standings right now. That
n L West is so important. I'll tell you why,
because whoever wins it is going to get a buy
(31:13):
in the first round of the playoffs because likely they'll
be the one or two seed. You know them are
the Mets may based on the way things are looking,
the runner up is gonna be on the road in
a wild card set. So think of that, like Danny
j You're a Dodgers guy. Dodgers win that division, they
get a bye and get to sit on their ass
(31:34):
while you watch these wild card quickie rounds on fault
you you lose, and don't you know, you know, you
don't win that division. You gotta go on the road
to like in Milwaukee or Atlanta or San Francisco somewhere
for a three game set on the road, while while
teams like the hopefully the Mets will be resting like
that division is gonna be three teams are gonna win
(31:56):
nine plus games of that division. They all may make
the playoffs, but it's a or who comes out on
top because the new the new playoff structure major ly
favors the one in two seats. Hopefully none of the
Dodgers games go to extra innings in the playoffs because
for whatever reason, our Dodgers cannot win an extra innings
if there's an automatic runner on second. Games over pretty
(32:18):
much they can't deliver in that it's so weird. Regular
game though, that doesn't go to extras, Dodgers have a
great chance of winning that game for whatever reason. This season,
horrible record and extra innings. Yeah, sometimes you can't get
it done. You can't get a ton of extras. You
see the stats. Sometimes a good team will be going
to look back and and just like this NBA season,
(32:39):
kind of like we should have never slept on the
Golden State Warriors. Right, there's a lot of question marks,
I get it, but there's still the Golden State Warriors.
And at the end of the day, you know, they
did what they do and they won, and there it is.
We're gonna look back and say, what were we speculating about?
Is clearly the Yankees, Dodgers or met season. You think
it's gonna be this way. I don't know what I mean,
you know, you know what I think the big I mean,
(33:01):
this happens in all sports, but I think even more
so with some of the teams, the obvious happens often. Yeah,
you're right, it has to fruition. We we talked about
that in football a lot, Like a lot of times
will be like, well, this season, you're speculating and it
comes down to the obvious. Does this team that's stuck
it as a wild card are they gonna go all
the way? And you're like, no, Aaron Rodgers will be
in an NFC championship game, He'll probably lose. Mahomes or
(33:22):
Brady will be there as well. Like that, you know,
no matter how much you want to speculate, suspects, Yeah,
the usual suspects. Um, so let's let's you know obvious.
The obvious is this, And I hate to, you know,
fire down the Guardians fans who are all pumped at
their what one game behind, one game behind Minnesota. Yeah,
which is great, and Minnesota is playing great and they
got a squad, but we're probably going to see the
(33:43):
obvious teams there at the end. I'd be surprised if
you don't. But then again, there's been more than often. Right,
these teams are pretty dominant, very dominant. It's all gonna
come down to one one thing, and this kuld e
end into the World Series. The Mets spent all this money.
And I'm not just saying this because I'm a Mets fan,
(34:05):
but if Max Scherzer and Jacob Degram are both healthy,
whoever they play is going to have to face both
of those guys twice. That's tough. And the wonder how
on and how on earth could anyone shut down the Yankees.
I think that's the only possibility pitching could do that
only and they're and they're one of the teams I
speak of, the only way to obvious. If they're healthy
(34:28):
and they're both coming back, it's right around the corner.
Then yeah, those are the names that we're gonna be
talking about for the rest of the year. Yeah, you
could say I'm a homer for for talking like this
being a Mets fan at all, But the fact that
they have the best record in the National League and
Jacob Degram hasn't picked up a baseball yet, and Max
Scherzer has played half half of the season. You're adding
(34:49):
two Cy Young Award winners mid season if they stay healthy.
I mean, good luck beating my mets. Good luck beating
Riches Mets. Good luck beating Riches, Fox Sports Sunday eight seven,
seven nine on Fox. I hope all your teams are winning.
You know, there's a part of me, you know, I'm
speaking out of both sides of my mouth a little
bit rich because I'm like, yeah, dad's don't care. Give
(35:10):
him a phone call for Father's Day that don't care.
But then you know, you're saying your dad does care,
and I do understand why, because there's a part of
a dad. It's like, okay, but I'm not gonna make
a big deal about it. Like well, I hate to
sound sex. It's like a mom would, right at least
all right, how my would My mom would say she
didn't want a card, but you didn't get her one,
(35:30):
and then she'd get mad. Maybe not expressive, but you
know she'd be mad. Right, Well, we're gonna go to
the phones. Well we have the break, okay, alright, cool,
we got more Cavino Enrich Fox Sports Sunday, And then
your phone calls and then some father and son Duo's
Father's Day here on Fox Sports Sunday. Who's this slying
(35:52):
the family stone again? Although it's Dr Evil, Dr Evil
and nice. Happy Father's Day Show, Enrich and all your
friends here at Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Sunday at
Covino Enrich on social Media and the most interactive, most
inclusive show according to US Fox that's a number three.
(36:15):
On a call and Say What's Up eight seven nine
on Fox, I was saying, right before the break, you know,
Dad's like to pretend like, yeah, we don't need anything.
But there was a part of me today rich, as
I was gonna say, h h is a part of
me that still felt a little fired down, Like all
(36:36):
they wanted today on Father's Day was for my team
to win. There's a part of me that has this
I don't know, I'm I'm I'm supposed to be a man.
I don't care. I don't need a car, and I
don't need any high fives. I'm a dad, big deal, right,
But then there's a part of me it's like all
I wanted the Yankees to win today and they lost.
I told you Today's day one of their giant collapse.
(36:57):
They play the Astros, They gotta they gotta, dude. They
scored a lot of run today. Miguel Castro had a
bad day. Let up Grand Slam. So Miguel one Picture
had a bad day. Blue Jays got one big deal,
Yankees lost two cares. But like I said, there was
a part of me as a dad who was like, yeah,
I don't care, I don't need anything. What do I
made a little hug, Give me, give me a hug,
(37:17):
Give dad a hug. That's all I want. But I
wanted the Yankees to win. You know that the dad's
of Toronto didn't want the same thing. Of course they did,
so that you know, that being said is you know,
I hope all your team's won today, and I hope
you've enjoyed your weekends so far, and of course your
day off tomorrow because it's Juneteenth weekend. Yeah, we wanted
(37:41):
to win in two a god dad, Ah, I was
like that, did you say, daddy? No, I said, Dad,
that is that statement always every time you say that.
By the way, I hope all your teams won this weekend.
You're hitting it. Oh yeah, I know I never even
thought of that because you said that every like every month,
(38:01):
but every Monday like, I hope your team is one
this weekend. I'm like, well, you know what sets the move? Well,
how did you uh, how did you react when your
parents we're in the stands when you played as a kid.
And I bring this up because have you seen Francisco
Lindor His mom mom showed up, he put on a show,
(38:22):
paid him a surprise visit, and he lit it up,
kitting bombs, screaming as he's going around the basis. His
mom's getting into a buckshow Walter even said, I don't
want her to leave her surprise, her surprise visit was
paid off. Yeah, I haven't seen a lot of feedback
on social media like he's just trying to get her
to stay for a while, trying to get her to
stay there. He plays well in front of his mom,
(38:45):
makes you wonder, like when you were younger, when your
parents weren't at the game, on that rarity where it's
like a high school game, you're out of town or something,
did you did you perform well when mom and dad
were in the crowd? You know, it all just depends.
I I did right because I just performed well. But
there's that sense of never had enough, that there's that
sense of pressure, right, that a parent puts on a kid,
(39:07):
and maybe they don't mean to write like I did
feel that sense of pressure, But I know my parents
didn't mean to I just, you know what, I would
sense that my mom was nervous, and I don't need
her nervous energy because she's nervous for me, right, Like
I don't need that, right, nobody needs that. I hope
he doesn't strike out, right, But but there are parents
who put a lot of pressure on their kids, and
(39:28):
those are the kids that usually stepped up. Their dad
came pulling it late and they're like, oh, you just
missed it. Billy hit a home run. I'm here, right.
Can you put pressure on pressure on your kid and
their kids and they're going to react that way. So
I think it's a matter of what type of parents
they are. We have to factor that in the conversation, right.
But when you're a big leaguer, and at this point,
(39:50):
I feel like it's probably a good pressure to perform,
and we see that with Lindor. I don't think if
there's any accident there, you know there he saw a
recent Carrasco pitch for the first time in front of
his dad ever through a gem, So hey, listen. Sometimes
mom and dad there is a nice support and pressure. Well,
speaking of Buckshell Walter, I have a very interesting quote
(40:11):
from him. I want to go over. Next has to
do with little kids playing sports, So hang tight more.
Next song can be known Rich You're gonna bring it
this hour, he said, Oh yeah, I'm gonna step it up.
Mom's listening, Dad's listening. Yeah, pressure performers, Happy Father's Day.
We're just talking about that. If you just joined us
(40:32):
athletes and kids that step up when mom and dad's around.
You know, happens in little league, happens in the big leagues.
I hit my first time run when dad wasn't there.
See less pressure kind Oh he's he swung at another
high one. She lay off the high he oh good,
hye choke up and yeah he's not there. He pulls
in late, got late day at work. Ah, you just
(40:54):
missed a Greg Rich at a home run, hit a
bomb till it was my first over the fence, literally
cole run and my dad missed it. Sometimes that happens.
But Lindoor steps up when my mom's around, right, having
games of his life. You know, buckshow Walter, you know,
joking that he wants to keep Francisco Lindor's mom in
New York because she surprised him. And since he's been
(41:16):
on a tear, I'm curious what you think of this.
Just a quickie from Buckshaw Walter, who man. He's coached
around the league. He's managed a bunch of big market
and a couple of small market teams. I think he
made most of his money as the Dutch Boy, the
face of the Dutch Boy brand. It's it's funny how
as the Mets manager, he's looked at his like this
(41:38):
funny older guy. He was a sower puss with the Yankees,
but he built it though. He definitely always had a
great reputation for sure. But he is all about kids
playing multiple sports. You know how a lot of times
the kids will specialize now in one sport. Buckshaw Walter
recently said that he's all about the kids playing multiple sports.
And it got me thinking, because kids gotta find what
(42:00):
they like. Though, you know, so I get that, where
at what age are we talking about? Because when you're
a little kid, I think should try everything. I saw
an interview with there was an interview on s n
Y with Aaron Boone and Buckshell Walter, both New York managers.
Both teams are the best in the n L and
a L right now, and Buck said, my advice to kids,
make sure you're having fun. Just be there, make sure
you have fun. All these travel teams one sport. I'm
(42:24):
more of a big bio guy. I like to see
a kid play multiple sports, multifaceted. If a kid plays
baseball all year round, shakes his head like, now, just
kids supposed to play basketball, football, track, you know, football,
he's supposed to. He's supposed to when your kids try
it all. But how do you play track? You run? Track? Dude?
(42:45):
You run? Do you have? I don't know. I used
to play and semantics and then your boy, Aaron Boone.
They asked what age should kids start worrying about winning?
What do you think? His answers, should a kid start
worrying about winning? I was pretty concerned about winning at nine,
so he said, I don't care you're going out there.
(43:10):
There's always a level of wanting to win. Just don't
be obsessed with with it when you're little. Yeah, because
you're learning and it's fun. I get all that now,
I do I do? I think by nine ten, you're
you're in it to win it, You're playing to win.
Losing is not fun, you know, And that's an important
lesson to learn, Like, yeah, everybody loses, but losing is
(43:31):
not fun. Losing fun when you realize losing is not fun.
Losing when you play softball loosens of phone, when you
play pick up basketball at the gym. Losing is not
fun anywhere. But I do agree with Buck Showalter. And
by the way, sorry to sounds so local. We are
New York fans out here in l A. But guess what,
we're also talking about the best teams in the league.
(43:52):
That's just the truth, that's the facts here on Fox
Sports Sunday. I mean, when you think about any of
your heroes in sport, we're talking sports heroes. Okay, not
a meat ball hero, not a meatyou that's sounds pretty good.
Not those guys on The Boys doing all those weird
things on that show you watch, like what I've seen
(44:15):
some of the low lights from that show, The Boys.
But when you think about all your your heroes, they
all played multiple sports growing up, but it probably made
him better athletes. I saw Donovan Mitchell take him batting
practice because his dad's you know, with you know, part
of the Mets organization. You know, you don't think Donovan
Mitchell besides hitting three pointers, you don't think he was
stroking in high school. Just come on, made you more
(44:37):
well rounded, that's all. That's all my happy Father's Day.
I agree with Buck Shaan Walter. Well, let me give
everyone a fun game to play before we move on.
We're talking about moms and dad's Father's Day. My buddy,
I'll give him credit. My buddy DACKX, who lives out
here in l A said he takes his dog for
a walk around the neighborhood and will pass the little
league field once in a while. Oh, he was telling
me a story. I thought he was doing yo yo tricks. No,
(44:59):
when he said the doc, he meant actually walking into
either was playing. He said, stop by a little league
field and him and his wife play a game called
Who's the coaches? Kid? Huh? And he goes, you'll watch
some pretty competitive little little little league games going on.
He's like you could immediately tell like these kids are
pretty good. Why is that kid playing shortstop coaches? Kid?
(45:23):
Kids should not be playing shortstop coaches. Kid. You see
some kid pitching, and he's you know, struggling and coaches kid.
You see sluggers in a literallygue line up surrounding one
guy that's not that much of a slugger coaches kid.
It's a fun game to play, so hey, if you
want to experience a little new adventure, play most of
the time. But again, is it like nature nurture? How
(45:45):
does this work? Most of the time, the coaches kid
is either the picture or the shortstop, which is usually
the best kid there is. He the coaches kid because
dad spent the most time with him. Dad put the
most pressure on him or the kids good, so therefore
the dad is there to support him. You could say
the same about high school music and like like I'm sorry,
(46:05):
more like elementary school music in theater. Like if the
kids the lead in the school play, are they good?
Where is their mom? The president of the p t A.
It's one or the other. It's the Little League p
t A theory. It goes back to that famous chart.
Say it for the sake of conversation, and if you
agree or disagree, you can give us a call on
Fox Father's Day. If you disagree, If you disagree that
(46:28):
you're in denial. Of who you are, because there's truth
to it. But you gotta ask yourself why, right, And
then it does say something about the guy that spends
the most time with his kid. Coaching is a commitment
because you gotta deal with a lot of nonsense. Well, yeah,
there's a lot of politics like parents, you know, you
gotta deal with. But there's a there's a famous meme
and it's a picture of the little league diamond, the
(46:49):
baseball diamond. And I'll start with first base, first base,
tallest kid. Yeah, it's the truth, right, Usually the tallest
kid first base, second base, the smallest kid again again, accurate,
dead on. They used to call my buddy Barry played
second base growing up. They called him Bury the hat.
You know why they call him Bury the hat. It's
likely a hat with two little cleat sticking out that
(47:15):
his hat was so big and he was so little.
Burry that smallest kid on second base, best kid at
short stop, always strongest kid at third because usually he's
got at the hot arms, good arm. Yeah, throw across
the diamond, all right, now, you got left field, nicest kid.
(47:35):
It's a good, good point. Yes, he he also keeps scoring.
Decent ball player, but yeah, nice kids in left field,
center field, fastest kid, and we're talking at a at
a younger level, right of course, fastest kid in center field,
slowest kid in right field, now pitching. You got the
coaches kid and behind the plate the toughest kid. I mean,
(47:59):
that's pretty dead on accurate. In a world where we
look at a hundred memes of days scrolling through social media,
that might be one of the most accurate I've ever seen.
But why is the coaches kid pitching? Because dad spent
the most time with that kid, and the dad's also
thinking I'm putting that, I'm putting all this time and effort,
and I'm gonna let my kids try to shine. You know,
(48:19):
It's just part of it. So hey, you could there's
a lot of people that want to disagree with that,
because we've talked about that many times throughout the years.
The great meme though a lot of every time you
bring it up, people have something to say about it.
But there's something true about it, something very very true
about it. Again, we're Cavino and Rich. Thank you for
hanging out with us. Fox Sports Sunday, Father's Day. Father's Day. Now,
(48:40):
we got this clip of Charles Barkley and be prepared.
Danny g says, it gets a little dark, right, a
little bit, but it's kind of funny. So we want
you to pay close attention to what he says and
think about It's kind of like a what would you
do for a clond bar sort of question, but not
a colonduct bar conic bar for a lot of money. Listen,
(49:04):
if somebody gave me two hundred million dollars, I'd kill
a relative. Alright. I'm not sure we could do anything
else after that. I don't know what the next question
would be. Appreciate the Hey, I'm serious. He got two
hundred million dollars and Dustin Johnson got a hundred fifth millions. Hey, well,
(49:26):
hundred fifty million dollars, I kill a relative, even one.
I like, damn, that's I'm serious. I'm serious. Courtesy if
Pat McAfee show. It's Covino and Rich on Fox Sports Sunday.
So yeah, that's a little strange. And of course he
went with the laugh, but then he doubled down. He's like, no,
I'm serious. I do it for a hundred and fifty
million dollars a relative. I like, Well, there's there's a
(49:48):
few angles here people have done it for less people. Yeah,
I mean that, And I start thinking, like Covino it all?
We mean, there's a few angles. Are we gonna take
phone calls on? How much would it take for you
to kill your uncle? Happy Father's Day? I never I
never really cared for you uncle, Like alright, ready his
Father's day? So your godfather, who really cares about him?
(50:11):
How much would it cost? Give us a call? A
se we told you it was gonna get dark. So
I do have two eggs. Number one? Are you one
of those guys by the way, you're checking out Covene
on rich? I'm rich that Hey, Covino is cut from
the cloth of I can't be bought, bro, like when
(50:32):
you give Caveno even like honestly like dirty hypotheticals like
yo for like million dollars? Would you do? Playing called
integrity pride? You know what I mean? Like there's something
about that, like so you really hate this live toward
things then, because that's how that conversation originates. I'm all
about Danny g I could be bought, just let it
be knowne Like if if someone said, hey, rundown Ventura
(50:56):
Boulevard with your pants down and it won't pay me
a lot of money. I'm like, yeah, sure, how much money,
but you'll but you'll get arrested. How much money I
want in me? In my mind? I got two little kids,
I got a wife, I got a mortgage, I get
these things. I have no pride when it comes to
silly little hypotheticals. Covino is the guy where you're like,
(51:16):
a hundred million dollars, would you do blank if it
is against his like moral code? No way, bro. So
that's one angle you're gonna You're gonna meet two types
of people, Danny g what type of person? And you
you're working your ass off seven days a week, multiple jobs.
Are the type of guy not not to kill your relative.
But if it was like something very embarras basically asking
(51:38):
the ted d b As question, And I think ted
Dbs had it right when he said everybody's got a price. Yeah, yeah,
you're saying you'd slide down a pole, and is like, yeah, yeah,
if you said rich, get in shape and do thunder
down under in Vegas for a week. It all depends, though,
it depends because they're asking these golfers to do what
(51:59):
they do, right, This is what they do a lot
of times in the hypotheticals that are posed for fun
that you alluded to rich are like things that I
would never do that are against my like my values
against like those words values. But it's true. And I
understand that they're saying that this is salaudy blood money.
(52:21):
That's the headline, right, salaudy blood money, all this money,
and why would they do this. I mean, they're golfers,
and they're golfing for people who are willing to pay
them the most. I get how it rubs people the
wrong way. I get it. If you're filming there, if
you're feel if you're Phil Mickelson, you're not taking a
couple hundred million saying that's the difference. You're asking them
(52:41):
to do what they do. A lot of times in
the hypotheticals, you're asking me to again kill my relatives,
And I'm like, no, I'm good, I'm good on that.
I would never do that. And then you would say
something like, how about for half a billion dollars? And
I was like, no, not even for a half a
billion dollars. But if you asked me to do what
I do? Hey man, would you do a radio show?
Would you host a show in another country and they're
(53:01):
gonna pay you an exorbitant amount of money. You like that?
I said it without any stutter. Exorbitant's pretty good, right, impressed?
And that was in his zone When I said it,
I thought I was gonna floob it. Yeah, but would
you take money? Say you had a coveno and rich
shoe and you knew a sweatshop was putting the shoe
together in China? Would you take the profits from that?
(53:24):
Because that's everybody blasting on the NBA over the past
few years, and now that's coming up with the live tour.
It's the same question, right, and blood money is the
headline that when I started thinking about the real angle
of a Danny G with like sweatshops and do you
want to make it all serious Danny G. But that's
the truth I was talking about run around naked. No.
I think what Comino saying does make a good point
(53:45):
if it's something you would normally do. Do you know
you know Bobo works also in the music side of
radio and television. You don't know how many Bobbo probably
back me up, how many random big time artists will
play private parties that they just don't speak about. It right,
or comedians, comedians, comedians, you know, we we've talked the
(54:05):
great Jim Jeffreys story. Yeah, Jim Jeffries the comedian does
a great story about how he performed for Mariah Carey
at her birthday party and you know, just got paying
a ton of money to do like ten minutes. So
if you don't think, by the way, that happens all
the time, Maroon five, Beyonce, you know, or you don't
think there's some Saudi prince. It's like I must have
Olivia Rodrigo for my kids party and she's over in
(54:27):
the Dubai somewhere performing for a hundred million dollars. Of course,
stuff like that happens. So I don't blame Phil Mickelson.
I just wonder could everyone be bought and off the
hear you were saying, I'll perform as Olivia for ten million.
That's performing for Mariah, though, would you do a private
show for Vladimir Putin? Like? That's what it boils down
(54:50):
to me. He's right, where do you draw? Where do
you do you draw the line? Right? That's what it
comes down to. Um, Well, I got I got one
part of it figured out. Is this something uncomfortable doing.
If you're asking me to do something that is out
of my comfort zone wheelhouse, the answer is always going
to be no, because I can't be bought. Okay, let
me give you an Let me give you something less
(55:10):
serious than playing for Putin or doing something. What if
I said to you, you see Charlie Sheen and Denise
Richard's kid is now on Only Fans and it's a
big deal because people are like Charlie Sheen winning like
his kid twenty years later on winning. If I told
you Comino who was like all moral guy, If I
said you say that like it's bad, you're such a buffoon.
(55:32):
You live in the upside down like every other idiot
in his country nowadays, Mr moral guy, Like having morals
is bad, You're the problem. That's a good thing. If
I told you're supposed to have some sense of morality.
If I told you that's that's how you're supposed to
function in life. If I told you if you and
your girlfriend started a Only Fans account, you'd make fifty
(55:54):
million dollars, you would say, no, I gotta find that
line again. What am I doing? One's going to have
a lot, Yeah, you all? I was doing showing my feet.
I feel weird about it, but I might have to
for fifty million dollars. But that's where it ends going
to mean. Have you seen have you seen? I just
(56:17):
go I just don't go rush on my feet, you know?
So there's some value right, well, hey, it's something about
we'll take your phone. But you know what, you know what, guys,
I think Danny g said this off the air. Who's
to say this doesn't start infiltrating other sports? If it's
infiltrated golf, who's to say you're absolutely right? Who's to
say some Saudi king or some billionaires like you know what,
(56:38):
I'm on one of the boxing It's called prize fighting.
So if someone's gonna put up the biggest prize, are
you really gonna judge these people for that? Think about that?
Put that in your pipe and smoke. Especially in the
calf world. Think of how many big checks Happy Gilmore
needed to pay off his mom's house. Right a night,
we have more compete on Rich. Next right here in
(56:59):
Fox Sports Radio, Happy Father's Day from Fox Sports Radio,
Cavino and Rich, Happy Father's Day, Bobo, How old your
son like? Thirty five? Just about Bobo's Bobos not even forty.
It's crazy. No DNA test needed, Danny g you two man,
(57:20):
thank you. It's the show. Caveno and Rich Father, Steve Cavino,
Rich Davis, Spotty, Christian Swords, the Phones eight seven Fox
talking about blood money everybody blood money? Is the blood
money or is it just earning money? You don't know
where any of your money comes from? Well that's my rationale.
(57:41):
You said you called me Mr Moral guys. If that's
a bad thing, I'll take it all day. You mean,
I have values and things I wouldn't do because I'm
not a clown. Okay, But like I said, the difference here,
if any is that Phil Mickelson is a golfer. He's
getting paid to golf, right, you say golf, funny golf.
(58:01):
I'm putting emphasis on, putting emphasis on the golf. Golf.
Now in in Charles Barkley's hypothetical, that's a bit different, right,
because it always comes back that, well, what would you
do for a hundred million trillion dollars? And if you
missed that clip, by the way, it was on the
Pat McAfee show, Bubbo, can you hit it again? The
(58:22):
Barkley saying what he would do for a couple hundred
million dollars. Listen, if somebody gave me two hundred million dollars,
I'd kill a relative. All Right, I'm not sure we
could do anything else after that. I don't know what
the next question would be. Appreciate the Hey, I'm serious.
(58:43):
He got two hundred million dollars and Dustin Johnson got
a hundred fifth million dollars. Hey, well, hundred fifty million dollars.
I kill a relative, even one. I like, Hey, who's
to say that? You know? Foreign billionaires, but any can't
intrigue people other than golfers. Let's say the NBA. Let's
(59:07):
say there's some billionaire guy who just has this fantasy
of I'd like to see a one on one basketball tournament.
Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, m who else do I want this?
Michael Jordan, Jordan just for fun, Jordan for just for fun.
But he retired old, but I still want him. Yeah,
what accent is that? By the way, I don't know
(59:27):
he's keeping a neutral for an accent to offend no one,
like like Anna what's her name? Annadelphi? And like having
top gun. There was like a nondescript enemy. That way,
Danny g we're safe where they from one complain about rich?
Who do you offend? Nobody? Just a bad accent for everybody. Um,
(59:49):
I also want Tatum perhaps, uh who else would be good? Patrick?
Youing in there just because he never really want anything,
Just to give him a chance. He's all about that.
Take let everything you say, All right, let's do this.
The lebron James get to two fifty million dollars for
(01:00:12):
the winner just to participate. They're throwing someone twenty five
mill You're trying to tell me the NBA universe wouldn't
do this. Yes they would, and it's bound to happen.
But that's the slippery slope, and that's what that's what
I'm saying. I can see people getting upset about that.
Well where does it end? Right? Well, hey, this is
what they do, and that's why they do it. Like
I said, prize fighting. They do it for the prize. Mr.
(01:00:36):
You know Uman Derby to the death. But you guys,
I mean that's crazy. But but you see Mayweather doing
all these exhibition fights. Of course, when when Mayweather is
doing an exhibition with versus nobody in Asia somewhere I
can imagine he's making a pretty petty doing that. But
go back to your home run, Derby Fame, Derby Beat
(01:00:59):
the Death, Gladiator Tigers coming up from underground. Each swing
nohomed on, you get hit with a bat like like,
but we know what it really does. Like I said that,
the story is, you know, the blood money that they're
being offered. And again I'm reading headlines, but now this
starts a war between the PGA Tour and Lived Tour
(01:01:20):
because now they got right. Now they're in competition. Now
what happens? Can I can give you an analogy on
a way lesser level. Why is no one really caring
that much about the USFL or the XFL when it
debuts because they don't have the big stars. What if
this USFL that's going on now, what if they had
the money to be like yo, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson,
(01:01:42):
Nick Bosa. I mean, you see the movie Kelsey, see
the moves that professional athletes make for the what they
could be. They could be in great situations on winning teams,
but they leave these teams in their great situations for
the money. Because we said it last week just in
the Major League in Major League baseball. The career lifespan
is three years. Kyler Murray seemed a little unappy in
(01:02:04):
Arizona for a minute. You want to play in the
USFL for double yourself? Do it. They're doing it. This
their careers, their livelihood. So here's where my morality kicks in.
I can't be bought. I can't like what Charles Barkley
referred to. But if you're telling me to do what
I do, let's say Saudi Arabia offered Kevino and Rich,
we happen to give me your accent. We happen to
(01:02:26):
like your show. We love the show, right, make for
you to like to do the show in the script accent? Yeah,
just we They offer us money to do to do
our show for like a month, for a million, even
a million dollars each for a month. How foolish would
you be as a family man, as a father on
(01:02:47):
Father's Day to not take that offer when it's what
you do. I agree. I just want you to know
about that package that includes me, daddy, and there you go.
But that But that's how people have to look at it,
because people are quick to point the anger here. You're
not asking them to do something like out of their realm.
Bobo earns money fighting Tiger. That's out of the realm.
(01:03:07):
You know, That's what I'm saying. Like that, that's where
hypotheticals get lost on a guy like me. You know,
like I mean, you're asking Phil Nichelson the Gulf dude.
Everyone has our own line and let's go to your
phone calls. My point is, hold on, Can I make
this point? The world is a much much smaller place
than it used to be. I just think there's a
level of pride and shame and also a level of
(01:03:28):
what people will do for money. And I'm on team
from when we were kids, million dollar man style. Everybody's
got a price. If you told me do my radio
show on only fans, uh, laying around naked? I would
if if the money, if the money made, I have no,
I don't know. If then you have you have family
and friends to answer for, you have your you have
a daughter. You know. In Covino, I would push back
(01:03:51):
with this as well. Greed. Hey, we all want to
earn a lot of money, but greed has ruined so
many things. In our room, look at the stadiums We've
talked about where it's ruined the experience. Look at different
things in our life, like radio stations that we've worked at,
where greed got in the way and ruined something that
was good, that was going. So there's something to be
said for the other side of it as well. You
(01:04:11):
know he alluded to there, like tearing down the old
Yankee Stadium. Yeah, there was no need for that. I agreed,
Brandon and Casey. What's up Brandon? Did you hear Patrick
Mahomes is going to the USFL for five million dollars
a game. What's up here? Here's what I will say,
real real quick. Let me touch on the Tyreek kill trade. Man.
(01:04:32):
We're gonna be better next year without him because of
the genius plan that Andy Reid and Reach put together.
So I don't worry about don't worry about the Chiefs.
They'll be back in the Super Bowl, alright, ring number
two for p m Okay. So here's my thing, all right.
I would never kill a relative for any amount of
money ever. Never. I would never kill an animal for
(01:04:54):
any amount of money. And honestly, bro, if a spider
is in my house, I'll kill that. If you put
a spider in a random spot and said, I'll pay
you a million dollars to kill that spider. I wouldn't
do it out of principle that that's just like how
strong my morals are. However, if you point out a
rapist or a murderer, or you know somebody that's you
(01:05:15):
can show me really did that stuff. I'll do that
stuff for free in two thousand and twenty one. But
this year, this year, you gotta pay for my gas
on me. Okay, enough, fair enough, by the way, Dexter Morgan,
everybody Exter sounds like my wife does not kill spiders
in the house. She she has a spider cup that
(01:05:36):
she she catches it and lets it outside. I'm like, wow,
you really love spiders. Huh, Spider Harrison shakes that. Tell me, maguire,
she loves all the people that have played Spider Man.
I guess. But it's uh, it is a matter of
where is your moral code, and everyone's different look a
different answer. And like Danny said, greed is you know,
(01:05:59):
it's not a great thing. It's not a good thing
to have. But again, we all need some money to
Prices are higher than a cholo socks. I saw the
meme higher than a cholo socks. Steve the Sega, do
you do updates? Planet there? You lost me when you
(01:06:26):
had a million dollars and doing updates in the same sentences,
just a fantasy. Matt Fitzpatrick on the US Open today
by one stroke. Will's ALLATORUS tied for second with Scottie Scheffler,
who's ranked number one in the world. Fitzpatrick the first
player ever from outside the US to win the US
Open and the US amateur in his career. Hockey Stanley
(01:06:46):
Cup Final continues tomorrow night at Tampa Bay, Colorado, up
two games to done. NBA Draft is Thursday. Golden States
Victory Parade will be tomorrow in San Francisco. The USFLS
regular season is ending tonight. There's a game on FS one.
Wimbledon starts a week from tomorrow. NASCAR's Cup Series was
off this weekend. As for the Sunday night ball game
at Houston, Astros four one over the White Sox in
(01:07:08):
the bottom of the seventh inning, and it was Michael Kopeck,
the starting pitcher for the White Sox, with an e
r A under two, giving up four runs in his
five innings of where Houston's or Don Alvarez, with a
hand injury left yesterday after his last swing did not
start today. Angels for nothing winners at Seattle, Mike Trout
with a two run Homer had a great weekend. He's
up to twenty one home runs, that second in the
(01:07:30):
major leagues. Oakland shut out Kansas City for to nothing.
Colorado beat San Diego eight three. Manny Machado of the
Padres left with a sprained ankle. Cleveland is now just
one game behind the first place Twins in the A
L Central. The Guardians five three winners in L A
against the Dodgers, getting two in the ninth off closer
Craig Kimberl. Justin Turner of l A batting two oh
(01:07:52):
nine now Cody Bellinger to twelve. Max Munsey another oh
for He's batting one fifty three. Arizona beat Minnesota seven
to one. Diamondbacks hit four home runs for all of
their scoring. Pittsburgh for three over San Francisco. Washington got
a nine three win against Philadelphia. Bryce Harper still out
with an infected blister. Miami one at the Mets six
(01:08:12):
to two. Sandyel Contra seven and two records got the
win eight innings, eight strikeouts. Milwaukee now tied for first
in the NL Central with the Cardinals is St. Louis
Law six four at Boston Milwaukee one on the road
six three at Cincinnati Toronto trailed the Yankees eight three
and the sixth. Then Lord scouriel hit a grand slam.
Blue Jay's eventually win ten nine, a total of nine
(01:08:34):
home runs in the nine innings wins for Baltimore, Detroit
and for Atlanta six nothing at the Cubs. At the
College World Series, Texas A and M eliminated Texas today
ten to two. Oklahoma has had five two over Notre Dame.
Now top of the sixth. Back to you, Thank you,
Steve to Singer. Welcome back to Cavino and Rich on
Fox Sports Sunday. The numbers eight seven, seven ninety nine Fox.
(01:08:56):
You'll find us at Covino and Rich. Happy Father's Day.
The Dollar Shave Club six blade razor brings noticeably smooth
shaves with six stainless steel blades for swift hair removal
and lubricating strips that keeps things smooth. Dollar Shaved Club
raisors are sold at Dollar Shave Club dot Com or
in stores. Commingo Rich for Dollar Shave Club. But Father's
(01:09:18):
Day a question for you speaking of Dollar Shave Club,
A guy like you that cares so much about your hair.
What if I was like coming a Dollar shave club,
big sponsor. Everyone Fox loves them. They're willing to pay
you a million dollars in live commercial reads. But you've
got to shave your head with a dollar shave Club.
(01:09:40):
Get the ball bell. I have to. I'd be silly
not to. Again, that doesn't cross my moral like boundaries.
You know, I'm not asking to do only fans. I'm
asking your head of Corse. I think anyone in my family,
would you know, kick me in the arts. Let's make
the number more reasonable dollars to shave your head? Baalt,
what if you would do it? I would do it.
(01:10:01):
You have to think about that. Fifty g s. But
the thing is, and we'll take your phone calls at
seven seven ninety nine Fox about blood money and Phil
Michelson and could you be bought? He's getting paid to golf.
That's where I draw the line. If someone wanted to
pay me that much money to do radio, absolutely I
would do it. That's what I do to do something.
(01:10:21):
You're right, he's not being asked to do something. And
I think what we're really scared about is losing our stars.
You know, think about it from this perspective. How many
international soccer stars quote unquote sell out and come to
America for more money, right, or for people to pay
them at the end of their career. Japanese baseball stars
that come here for the money. Hey, to tide is
turning and there's other people with more money, and we're
(01:10:43):
just scared of losing our stars. Yeah, we don't. We
don't want to have the best guys somewhere else. We're selfish.
What don't you say with this blood money, you would
take that money if they asked you, Frank from accounting, Right, Frank,
We're gonna pay you a crazy amount of money to
account somewhere, account somewhere else. You're like, yeah, I probably
would do that. So I think it's just about us
realizing that, wow, we're not the shot callers anymore, and
(01:11:05):
we could lose a lot of our stars if this
slippery slope continues. As Danny g alluded to, what's really
scaring us is, oh wow, you know where does that end?
You know what happens in the future if this becomes
a thing, you know, you're not going to get that
big fight in Vegas anymore. Oh yeah, big heavyweight fight
in Vegas. No, it's not in Vegas, somewhere in Saudi
(01:11:26):
Arabia because they're getting paid a lot of money. Uh. Reef,
you're on in Denver. What's up? Man, coven On Rich,
what's up? Um? I just want to do, Uh, throw
the Constitution into this, real quick, I guess it all.
It does technically support free market, and I think until
(01:11:46):
you know the age of social media, the way around
um what we're discussing would be to engage in these
type of payments outside of this country would be not
for you to get that pass. And then the second
thing I wanted to say real quick was a thing
I learned in philosophy that the difference that it makes
(01:12:06):
when you physically see the cash and how much more
willing you might be to take it, UM kind of
supports the idea that you know, people don't pay their
credit off credit cards off very well because there's not
a physical amount of cash at hand. That's why would
give these hypotheticals. Reef. A lot of times people will
say suitcase of money in front of you, because you're right,
(01:12:26):
if you see a suitcase of a hundred grand and
the little nice little stacks of hundreds or a million
dollars in a Duffel bag. You that would probably be
way different than someone just throwing out a number at you. Yeah. Yeah,
I mean I totally respect the color A couple of colors.
Ago about the comment with the spider, uh slightly questioned,
you know, a million in cash right in front of him,
(01:12:48):
if that spider continues to another day? Yeah, I listen,
it's a great question. That's what this guy does for living.
He does he need the money? No, but it's not
your mine, you know, who are you to tell him
what he needs? Well, he kind of does for his
gambling debts. Well there you go. Okay, so that makes sense? Right,
(01:13:09):
so it makes sense. Well, you know what, there's a
there was a movie. I forget it was a pretty
crappy movie because I would have remembered if it was good.
But isn't there a movie? Spot is really good at
remembering names? Someone know? Is it something about the box
where you press a button and you make money, but
somewhere randomly someone is killed, so you don't know who
you're killing. But I see, I couldn't do that. I
(01:13:29):
couldn't if you told me here's a million dollars, but
if you press this button, someone somewhere is going to
be murdered. I couldn't in good conscience do that. It's
called the Box two movie. But Cameron Diaz and James Marsden,
you watched the crappiest movies, man, I mean I I'll
be honest, I do watch the pretty crappy movies. I do.
I'm guilty, guilty. I watched crappy movies and I would
do a lot of things for money. Oh didn't you
(01:13:51):
never mind? It's kind of Squid Games like two and
and you know what, Danny g I'm so glad you
brought that up. Everyone was fascinated with Squid Games. It
was the number one show in the world. And now
they make King a game show. They're not gonna kill people,
They'll they'll get over est prize ever for game show.
There's gonna be four hundred and fifty six six like
the number in the in the Scud game TV show,
(01:14:11):
four hundred fifty six contestants and they're given out four
point five six million dollars to the winner. It's gonna
it's gonna be on Netflix. The biggest game show prize
in the history of game shows. David in New York City,
what's up, but fellas, First of all, I just want
to say I haven't listen to you guys for years.
You guys do an amazing job. I'm big fancy yours.
Thank you so much for having this first and foremast
(01:14:32):
great guys, if you're a good guy to say, what's up?
Man to listen just to the topic at hand. When
you talk about Phil Nicholson, this is an individual, aside
from Tiger, that has earned more money than anyone else
in the history of the sport, an individual at thirty
four years old that has won six majors, when Tiger Woods,
the greatest of the great at the age of thirty
(01:14:52):
four and older, has only won one major. Phil Nicholson,
you will have already made in your lifetime nine figures. Dude.
Now you're gonna blood money rich. I understand if he
has to feed his family. I totally get the fact
that he has to feed an orphanage. But the reality
is he makes enough money for himself, for his kids,
for their kids in it for their kids. Hold on, Hey,
good Dave, you're a good egg, right how do you know?
(01:15:15):
How do you know that he's not going to use
that money to do something great for this country? Oh truth?
How do you what if all of a sudden, Dave,
what if out of nowhere we learned about the Phil
Mickelson like he's opening the kids who can't read good exactly?
He wouldn't know the movies who later Phil Mickelson could
(01:15:39):
right now and it's and it's listen. This is all
reportedly off the course, just as the course. The guy
has made nearly a billion dollars of all his endorsements.
Are we you know what, Dave? We got. I'm sorry
to cut you. We gotta break. We're running late. We'll
be back more your phone calls and feedback next right
here can be known. Rich. Yeah, shout out to my Melody,
(01:16:01):
my daughter, Melody, who made me a dad. I like
being a dad. Being that's fun. Happy Father's Day keeps
you motivated. It's a thankless job sometimes, but an important one,
an impactful one. So shout out to the fathers. We're

Phones eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox Memphis, Rob, you're on, buddy,
what's going on y'all? Fancy check? No problem. Next time
you're gonna have some gusts fried chicken. I went there
in Memphis. That was on point Bro. That was on
point day on the gas spicy chicken for some reason.
But anyway, let's get into some spicy talk. Man. You
(01:16:46):
know what, I'm gonna keep it real, which I think
America is the greatest country in the world, but hell,
we got human violations going on over here as well.
I mean, you know all they need to do with
show pictures or some of them leave Bruce Abode and
you know, different stuff going on over here. And you know, so,
I mean we we wanna. I think we're the best,
(01:17:07):
and I don't think we as bad as them, But
I gotta said, we got stuff going on over here too,
so we can't like we above all that. Like people
ain't supposed to take a quarter billion dollar paid that
you're saying the same way we're saying, shame on Phil
Mickelson for taking blood money. Other countries could view and
have their own perception of us and say the same
(01:17:28):
things about the stars they lose to our money. Yeah,
like you know, someone could be saying that that that
player went to uh the Major League and sold out,
you know, and he's playing in America. It's what they do.
That's what I'm standing on. Back to our caller day
then called earlier. Yeah, you know he's saying Phil Mickelson
has made X amount of dollars nine figures. He's one
(01:17:50):
of the greatest confers, just like Tiger was. Blah blah blah.
We don't know what a what he's gonna do with
that money bringing it back to our economy. Maybe he
is something. What was he gonna open up a spot again?
He might open up school center for kids who can't read,
a teen center for gambling. And we don't know how
much debt he has, so who are we to judge,
(01:18:12):
you know, how he makes his money, where he spends it,
or what he may need that money for. Matt in Minnesota?
What's up, man, Hey? What's up to be a rich? Hey?
Happy fis buddy? What's up man? Hey? I just I
saw the last say that the President's PJA was on
TV and he brought one of the greatest points off.
He said, I'd like to ask any one of these
golfers if they've ever had to apologize for playing on
(01:18:34):
the PGA Tour. And I think that's what it comes
down to, is if you have to justify your reason
for going over there and playing, and if you have
to say it's okay because you know, I can sleep
at night. They've never had to do that here, and
all of a sudden, now it's not fair. It's not fair. Matt.
What do you do for a living. I work for
a big box retailer with big Red Bull. Okay, so
(01:18:55):
if someone offered you a crazy amount of money to
do that, you do that. They're not asking him to
kill anybody there's gonna play golf. If corporate Walmart said
we want you you do you would tell Target to
meet it in one second. That's all I'm saying. That's
all I'm saying. Right, we all have a level of morality,
But then there's a level of justification to where you know,
(01:19:16):
I think it is I think con to back up,
but you said to wrap it up when someone's already
made hundreds of millions of dollars. It's very easy to be. Like, man,
how selfish could you be? You've already made me hundreds
of millions of dollars. But again it's not for us
to judge film in we don't more problems. I think
he's probably money, yeah, but I mean like great points,
so it's it's all great points either way. Thanks for
(01:19:38):
all the phone calls, guys, doing what you're good at
to make money. People always choose. I think, all right,
we have more Caveno and Rich, and you can always
hit us up at Covino Rich at Fox Sports Radio.
Let's be interactive. We'll take your phone calls, your feedback.
More next right here Sports all right, day, Happy Father's Day,
(01:20:07):
Happy Juneteenth weekend, extended weekend, Happy Pride Month. We're Cavino
and Rich. Would you do this weekend? Rich celebrate Father's Day?
I wanted a bike ride with the president. Oh not,
do you see that? Of course? Oh my god? Best
fall off a bike President Biden or Jack Tripper and
(01:20:28):
the opening sequence of of Three's Company when we were kids.
You know what, though, Biden his foot got caught in
the holster. So like I understand what happened. It just
looked really bad. It just looked bad. Not to get political,
I can't really get on him about that. Not to
get political, but Republican or Democrat, we shouldn't have a
(01:20:49):
president that we're worried if he falls something bad could happen.
The let's go whole president old man. Oh no, it's true.
You're right, Like honestly, if if oh Bama or Bush
or one of those presidents felt the bike, and I
gotta felt a bike, the last two presidents sit your
t spot. It's not a political statement, it's a fact.
(01:21:10):
All right, We'll hopefully you had a good weekend. You
didn't fall off the bike. My daughter did that. I
went on a bike ride with her. She fell over
by your house. Yeah, she had a spill. And like,
as a dad, you just want to encourage them to
be active and go out and ride bikes and things
like that. Remember helmet, what is she a nerd? I'm kidding.
I know everyone has to wear a helmet now, right know? Yeah,
(01:21:31):
so she fell she had a spill, and I was like,
a helmet right now? You're Good's that your head anyway?
Living the dad life, Father's Day, Fox Sports, Sunday, Cavino
and Rich every Time, Steve Di Seger says, Hideki matsu Yama.
You think he's gonna say. I want to correct him,
like it's Herbie Handcock. I want to make it's Hideki
matt Sui Godzilla. Hello. Well, I think in our lifetime,
(01:21:57):
if you're a thirty sixty, however old you, I get
an agreement in the room that the one thing that
has changed the most, not just for can I get name?
And I'm essentially asking for a nam in the one
thing that has changed. I'm not talking social issues. I'm
talking when we were kids. If you were a bike helmet,
(01:22:21):
you're the biggest nerd on pinet earth. And now every
kid wears one with no thought because it's safety. It
doesn't want to wear one, now, know what I'm saying,
Like when we imagine if you were rudding, if you
were riding your bike, I mean we also didn't wear
seat belts growing up, so I know your se that
was your grandpather Dad's arm, right. What I'm saying if
you grew up in the eighties or nineties, if you
were ridding your mongoose or your GT. Performer, your Huffy
(01:22:41):
or whatever the hell you had, imagine if one of
the kids in your neighborhood. You're yeah, we're gonna go
have home run derby at the park and some kid
rolled down on his bike with a helmet on. His
name was Waldo, for sure, he had some nerdy eighties name.
There's no way. Yeah, No, it's true, dude, he's speaking
the truth. I hate agreeing with Rich. I'm just saying,
I know it's safety, and I know we got we
(01:23:02):
all got kids now, and your kids are gonna wear
bike helmets. It's the right thing. But I mean when
I'm surprised they were able to kids to wear a
bike helmet. What the truth, helmets saves lives. They do.
They do is the truest thing you could say. Plus
they made them look cooler than when we were younger.
My daughters, she has a unicorn one that when we
(01:23:23):
were kids. Could you imagine the skate borders with their
you know, Tony hawk gear, their air walk shoes and
then they had pads on their elbows, knees and a
helmet on. It just would have been the same. No,
But you know, as apparent, when you hear about injuries
that other kids do get when they don't wear a helmet,
You're like, yeah, did they get a real again. But
it's true. Yeah, but and I agree with you, like
(01:23:44):
we we completely shifted on our mindset with that. There's
a couple of things where we were grown up. There's
a few things that take forever to change in society.
Two things. I'm amazed at one bike helmets. How kids
were like, yeah, I'll wear one. I thought that would
take a hundred years. How you would wear that nasty,
(01:24:04):
sweaty batting cage helmet with the pans all fallen out
of it. We would do that with no problem though, helmet.
I'm amazed. And the other one is cigarettes. We we
successfully convinced the generation of kids like, yeah, you don't
want to smoke cigarettes? Yeah, we know better. I'm amazed,
Like when we were kids in the eighties and nineties,
(01:24:26):
everyone's smoking cigarettes and they would say no to a
bike helmet. Those are the two successes in society. Yeah,
those are two wins for society for sure. I agree
with you. But congratulations. Actually, yeah, that did change when
you when you your parents gets the ticket for you
not having a helmet on that that's gonna put it well.
I often credit the Truth campaign. I really think that
(01:24:46):
did a lot for how smoking was perceived. You mean
the Dare campaign? No Truth, never heard that one. You
don't remember the truth campaigns against smoking Dare? Yeah, yeah,
I know that. But truth was a smoking campaign. I
mean that of course cancer and just the fact that
it was just bad for you. But and you know,
millions of deaths, but kids just smoke weed. I saw.
(01:25:13):
I know you wanted to talk about Shaquille O'Neil, so
let me let me just give him some props. I
don't know if there's any truth to this at all.
He sounded good, just reports memes as truth because I
was actually reading this to my girlfriend. What that logan
Paul's with Nina Agdale? Now? Nope? About what he did
at a restaurant, No, oh that check tips people, well,
(01:25:36):
I hear that all the time. He just recently picked
up the bill for the entire restaurant twenty five thou
dollars and then gave all the workers the biggest tip.
They said, here's why he could do that, or how
shock goes into stores a lot of money from Saudi
rad Um. So yeah, Saudi Prince was like, I will
give you the hundred million dollars to miss free throw.
So I laughed. By the way, I feel like we're
(01:25:57):
gonna get a lot of backlash in our previous conversation,
but we're just trying to give you a different way
to think about it. You know, I'm just I'm feeling
the vibe you know, of our last call Matt, who
was justifying you know, his his side of it. But anyway,
Shack is able to tip big money. If this meme
is true, you could fact check it. Spot he owns.
(01:26:18):
Get like, this is insane if this is true. To me,
I know these guys are worth a lot of money.
I know they make a lot of great decisions. But really,
hear me out again, I get my news. According to memes,
Shack owns a hundred and fifty five, hundred and fifty
five five guys just there. I'm impressed. How many hundred
(01:26:39):
and fifty five five guys. It's a burger place if
you don't know, seventeen anti ants, pretzels, hundred and fifty
car washes, fitness centers. Like if this is fact, I'm like,
what a shopping center, a movie theater in several Las
(01:27:05):
Vegas nightclubs, while still earning twenty two million a year
from his endorsements, and you're forgetting about Papa John's that
he owns Papa John's for data back, you know what
I mean? Like think of the moves and still and
he still chooses to hang out with Charles Barkley. Barkley
would take blood money. He's trying to catch up the shack.
What are you'd kill a relative? You know? That's impressive. Man.
(01:27:29):
Now do Shaq get props? Of course, is he getting
enough props? I don't think so. As a businessman, probably not.
But Shaq has been getting a lot of positive press
for going to places in generos and not buying like
computers and laptops and iPads for kids that need it,
and you know, and paying for kids made youth in
(01:27:51):
certain areas. So you know, Shaq is the man. I
can't deny what you're saying. Shaquille O'Neal is the man.
He is the man, dude, Like we we just gotta
start giving more props where they're due. Like I remember
growing up just thinking, oh, yeah, Magic Johnson, here a
few Fattenburgers. That's pretty awesome. Right then of course he
(01:28:11):
stepped up and he started doing his own thing, and
but what shack he's doing is unread. I think you're
the point you're making that. I'll back you up on
his While we do know Shack is successful, I don't
think he has thought of in the top tier of
athletes that are now the businessman entrepreneurs on a whole
new level. Shack deserves the credit. And maybe he's such
a personality it just it oversee even overshadows his business
(01:28:36):
moves and success, which says a lot about the guy man. Jeez, well,
let's talk about the success. Let's talk about checks success
on the court. I want to read you a tweet
that someone put out there and Shack's response, and I
I don't want to discuss it with you. Guys eight seven, seven,
nine nine on Fox, Kevino and Rich the whole cruise here,
Danny J. You're a Lakers guy, so I'm curious what
(01:28:58):
you think of this. Also, Legion Hoops put on Twitter
Shock in the NBA Finals and they show the stats
for the three pet two thousand, two thousand, one, two thousand,
two thirty eight points a game average, thirty three points
a game, thirty six point three points the guys almost
(01:29:21):
fifteen rebounds a game in all three of those years.
His numbers are just astonishing, and someone commented, even with
all the Shock doesn't win those rings without Kobe. Shack responded,
he wrote, no person could win without another star, big dummy.
(01:29:42):
How many would Magic have won without Kareem? How many
would Kenny Smith have won without Hakim? WTF? What the
f you talking about? I hate dumb ass people enjoying
my stats and shut the f up Shock? Now what
I love about this? He this preconceived notion that anytime
someone plays with other superstars, their quote trying to buy
(01:30:06):
a championship. Because when you look throughout the history of
all the major sports, when has there been a franchise
that was on the brink or a dynasty that did
not have multiple Hall of Famers that were locks. Why
would he we pretend sometimes that like Michael Jordan did
it on his own, like he didn't have Scottie Pippen,
(01:30:27):
Dennis Rodman, Horse Grant earlier in his career when he
was a legit all star, like and other key players
throughout the Lebron James took some mediocre teams. Lebron James
took they shouldn't have been. Lebron James took garbage teams.
To the NBA Finals and was pretty much alone yea
and lost. There were teams that Lebron James took to
(01:30:48):
the finals in Cleveland that the casual NBA fan might
have been approves your point. Might it might have been
able to name like one of the guys you want
to win, you need if you need a few stars
and has always been the case. And I'm and I
agree with what our boy Colin Cowherd said. The Golden
State Warriors are pretty easy dynasty to root for. Like
they're not a hateable group of guys. I know Draymond
(01:31:09):
rubs people the wrong way a little bit here and
they're say the Leverman hate him. But you saw what
happened when Clay was out. You saw what happened when
Kevin Durant said, yeah, I'm taking my talents elsewhere. They
were two years where Golden States stunk. Steph needed Clay, Yeah, absolutely,
(01:31:30):
he needed Draymond at a certain level. He need a team,
He needed some of these young guys to step it up,
and he needed the organization to make moves so they're
gonna be good for the next few years. That anyone
did it on their own, it made me wonder, and
I want to put the question, that's why I thought
Lebron But he didn't win when he was doing it alone.
And even when he won, even when he won, he
(01:31:53):
had Kyrie and Kevin Love and a couple of guys
like so and then of course in Miami with d
Wade and Bosch. So everyone wins with other people. You
watched our favorite show on IPL about the winning time,
about the Lakers in the eighties, Kareem in his prime,
Magic Johnson coming out of college, I got like the
(01:32:16):
fiercest competitor, and some of these key players they had.
No one does it on their own. Look at pitching
staffs in baseball. Look at oh yeah, and I think
year later they get worthy. Look at pitching staffs in baseball.
Look at the NFL, and tell me that without offensive
offensive weapons and a really solid line, if Pro Bowl
(01:32:36):
quarterbacks make it far in the playoffs, they don't. Well,
you know what, Jack put this guy in his place.
But but but Shack was like, yeah, of course I
needed Kobe dummy, because no one does both ways. So
so here he could have said that, but you don't
want to. No one wants to say anything remotely controversial
about Kobe Bryant. Why should they? But the same applies.
(01:32:59):
You know, he could have done it without Shack. So
I asked you this, here's the question. Oppose it the
feedback at eight seven, seven, nine nine on Fox. What
is the closest thing to a you know they single
handedly won that championship? Because one comes to mind for me.
(01:33:20):
And besides that, if you say a San Francisco Giants pitcher,
you and I share it. But I wrote it down,
Oh my god, not because we've been doing a show
together for so long. The year the Royals and the
Giants in the World Series, Madison bum Gardener, it seemed
(01:33:40):
like he did it, seemed like it seemed like he
carried the teams in his back. Madison bum Gardener won
that World Series. Besides that, I can't maybe the year
the Yankees lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks when they when
(01:34:00):
everyone who was rooting for the Yankees because at nine eleven,
Randy Johnson and Kurt Chilling, that's not that's not one
person though, But like has there can you think of?
They single handedly did it? You know why, it's hard
to think about because at an elite level, it's hard
to be that dominant. You know, my examples are like
(01:34:21):
I could think of that in high school level, right,
you know what I mean, Like one guy, he's so
much better than everybody else. He could just dominate and
win even at college level, but at a professional level,
one person. In a way, that's why the Madison bum garner.
You and I thought of the same example, because it
seemed like he just carried that team on his back.
(01:34:43):
He was unhittable. I mean, they got a good team
in Milwaukee. Chris Middleton played a big partner. But I
was thinking, like, could you argue Janice is the closest
thing to a superstar with other good players around them? Now,
I think they're a pretty good team. I don't know
that why Lebron If he would have won on those
crappy Cavalier teams, that would have been a great answer. Well,
(01:35:07):
you know what, if you could think of one, I'd
love to hear it. Now it's it's it's I haven't
seen it. Eight seven seven nine on on Fox we
got more Cavino and rich next. That's how he became
a dad, right? What what playing magic stick? A lot
(01:35:30):
of people listening to the podcast later not gonna hear
the joke, but I think Bobo just subliminally junked everybody.
It's Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Sunday, Cavino and Rich, Bobo,
Danny g Steve de Seger, Spotty against Steve Cavino, Rich
Davis getting all your phone calls at eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox. Please tell your friends about our
(01:35:52):
podcast again. Thanks for subscribing Fox Sports radio dot com.
If everyone, if everyone listening right now passed along the
Fox Sports Radio podcast links great to one other person,
stid later at Covino and Rich to one other person.
That would be my father's day wish. That is my
father's day wish. And by the way, I do want
to say one other thing. We're filling in on Tuesday
(01:36:12):
for Doug Gottliep, so listen out. We appreciate it. Look
at that Tuesday got plans now? All right? Your phone
call said eight seven seven nine nine Fox. The question
I posed was simple, Shaquille O'Neil. I loved what he
wrote here. Someone tweeted a check after after who was
it here? Someone said, look at you look at Shack's
(01:36:36):
numbers in the early two thousand's, and they were ridiculous.
Someone wrote even with those numbers, Shack wouldn't win rings
without Kobe. Shack responded, calling the guy dummy, and no
person could win without another star, big dummy. How anything
Magic would have without Kareem? How many would Kenny Smith
(01:36:57):
have without Hakim? But the f you talking about? I
hate dumbask people, enjoy my stats and shut the f
up from from Shaquille O'Neal. He should stay on social media.
So there's a ton of dumb, dumbass people, you know,
when you look at all the four major sports, I
can't think of any time someone did win without another
(01:37:18):
big star, Basketball, Football, bowling, yeah, bowl again. I think
the only example you and I agreed on was Madison
bum Gardener when he was so on point and on
fire in the World Series he single handedly won the
San Francisco Giants. It seemed that way the World Series
that the Kansas City Royals had no answers that year
(01:37:40):
from Madison bum Gardner and he was on fire. Now
the Mets would have won the World Series the next year.
Do you remember Daniel Murphy went on the hottest street
you've ever seen a Major League baseball player go on.
He was on fire, but they lost. It's not a
little matter. But yeah, and I was saying that it's
because it's professional sports. It's just too competitive. One person
can't dominate. And college high school I went. I went
(01:38:04):
to Union High School and I saw Brian Sheridan. You know,
rest in peace. He played for Rutgers. A kid in
my high school is so dominant. He was a man
amongst boys. Yeah, he led us to state champions put
the team on his back. You know it's a high
school level. I mean at a professional level. Good luck.
You can't do it on your own. You're talking about
you at high school or even college. Two thousand three,
(01:38:28):
Carmelo Anthony single handedly won Syracuse the n C Double
A tournament one year and done for the Qus. He
came and lit it up, went to the pros. See
a little kids sports, high school level, not the professional,
but at the pro level. Andrew in West Virginia, what
you got, man? How you doing? Fellas a short time listener,
first time caller, you guys are missing a big one
(01:38:50):
in the NBA dirt and the whiskey man. Back in
the day, I thinks on the road to win in
Dallas that championship in the two that's that's gonna be
and answered that I'll accept. It's a great answer. But
that's why we opened it up. It's like a barbershop
conversation because I remember that that was that was the
first year that the Lebron Miami team made it to
(01:39:10):
the finals, and they were they were heavy favorites, and
Dirk and that team they did that didn't even go seven.
They shut They shut down Miami, And you're right, that
was Dirk all day. And I think I think he'd
beat Kobe in the finals to I hate to say
a big Kobe guy, but yeah, man, I mean he
beat some Hall of famers, and I mean Jason Serry,
maybe Tyson Shanner. I can't really think any other dudes
dudes from that team. I'm glad you called because as
(01:39:31):
much credit as Dirk gets, I don't think he gets enough.
Said the same thing about Shock as a business man.
That was a magic That was a magical year from Dirk.
I remember that. By the way. By the way, I
want to say he has a great cameo in the
movie Hustle, which you still haven't seen yet, with Adam Sandler.
I'm happy Father's Day too, Fellas Man I appreciate you
taking a call. Thanks man, thanks for being on board
(01:39:52):
with coven On rich Andy in Las Vegas. What's up man, Hey,
how's it going guys? Hey? Yes, I got a good one. Um.
I was thinking of when they beat when the Detroit
Pistons beat the Lakers, trying to three te um, they
didn't really have that many stars. I'm Chauncy Billops is
going out a lot of good defenders while that that
(01:40:14):
was more of a team effort. But do you remember
what there was not one guy. I'm curious who was
examples of that? Like just great teams, not a lot
of stars. The question here that the richest posing is
like one star dominates the whole thing. Yeah, Chauncey Billips
did win the m v P that year, but I
don't think he's No, I don't think it was a
Chauncey Billips carried the Pistons, you know, over the Lakers.
(01:40:35):
But team effort, that's that's That's a a great story,
a great conversation, maybe like for another day. He ever
twenty game he wasn't like Bromin. But thanks, that's a
good call, brother, Thank you very much. Man. Adam in Denver,
what's up man? Hey, guys off the chauncy you're trying
(01:40:55):
to dominant. You should have seen him in high school
at g W High School here in Denver and stuff
like that, with a man like little League boys. I
mean it literally was unreal how he dominated in high school.
He was unbelievable. But real quick, I just want to
teach you about the PJ singing quick. You know, the
hypocrisy of Monahan and those guys like I'm not to
say if anything about the guys where they're getting the
(01:41:15):
money from, but nobody is. I've not seen one of
them call out the sacred Cow, the Golden Bear, blood
money Bear, Jack Nicholas because you know that dude. They
see nothing about the body. He's taken the design golf
courses in Saudi Arabia, so their main You know, I
was thinking about this. You know what this comes back to, bro,
(01:41:36):
Remember that old Chris Rock bit about you're only as
faith faithful as your options. Yeah, no one's paying these
other guys that are jealous about it. No, no, I
think I get you here, But I'm just the hypocrisy
that they you know, they talk about, you know, and
you know, no one says nothing about Jack, you know.
I mean it's like he's taking the money. Yeah. And
and like we both pointed out earlier, different levels of
(01:41:58):
I guess, morality and cold. But most people are taking
money to do what they're good at from the highest bidder. Uh, Miami, Mark,
you're on the show. What's up on? Hey? What's up? Guys? Hey?
I was gonna say the number one one was gonna
be the my heat, that that was the most unlikely one.
But I would also throw in, uh, it's just one
(01:42:21):
of a shook mine up. I'll throw in the Raptors
there because I know they got Kauai, they got guys
like Lou but they were definitely an unlikely title team.
And I know the Warriors got injured, but still Heat
that what he was in a zone, man, he carried
that team. I I feel that way. You know, I'm
on the heat explaination. The heat explanation he's saying when
(01:42:43):
d Wade and that team beat the Dallas Mavericks, when
the Dallas Mavericks was supposed to win in the other series.
We're talking about six or so, right, Ronto definitely qualifies
because Hawaii and a bunchet. But I accept that as
an answer. It might not be a correct answer. I'd
have to see that, you know the rest of the
(01:43:04):
stats there, but it felt for me that was the
quadruple Donkier too, right, Yeah, I mean it seemed to
me that was Kauai's team and he led that team
single handedly. And seeing that way, I don't know if
it's an accurate answer, but but I accept that as
an answer. Oh, I have the number one answer on
the board. I want to go to Bobo one second. Bobo,
(01:43:25):
that Miami Heat team. I remember that. It's funny because
the Mavericks and the Heat played each other in the
NBA Finals a couple of times, and whoever was favorite
to win ended up losing both times. Like the Dirk
team lost to the powerhouse in Miami when Lebron teamed
up with everyone, but then they beat Dirk earlier other
(01:43:48):
than Dwayne Wade, who do we? I mean that was
like it was an age shack, Shack was older by then?
What was he what was his average? Like his point? Yeah,
I'm gonna take a look into this a little more.
But yeah, I do remember that that was d Wage
year two. But I know the answer on a professional level,
shock hat to ball that year, man, because he lost
a lot of weight when he went over there. That
was a big issue here because he had gained all
(01:44:10):
that weight, wasn't in shape. Left here, went to Miami
and dropped a ton of weight. I want to say
that he dominated while he was in Miami. He put
up fourteen points a game. Wasn't really slaying it. I'm gonna,
you know, I'm gonna look at the playoffs. I let's
see how he did in the playoffs. But was your
other example, oh, Marcus Allen and tech Mobile? Yes, I
(01:44:32):
hate you so much, am I? Right? Though? I mean
he's single handedly won how many games Raiders? Mar tech
Mobile was unstoppable? Same with bo Jackson man best running
back combo of all time? Yo? Right? Uh, a few
more phone calls if he just joined us? Were Cavino
(01:44:52):
and Rich and just trying to think of of people
athletes who single handedly won a championship for their team,
seemed to put the team on their back and won
it by themselves. Because Shack was saying that, you know,
he of course he couldn't win win out Kobe. Kobe
couldn't win out him, by the way, in that NBA finals, Oh,
(01:45:14):
six stap Boyd to the rescue me. Dwyane Wade averaged
almost thirty five points a game, and after him it
was Antoine Walker and Shack with like thirteen points a game.
So that was a very d Wade. Well at least
we know where he was coming from for sure. So
thanks for your phone calls, man, it's very rare. It's
(01:45:35):
it's rare and far between. You want to take a
few more phone calls after we talk to our buddy Steve.
What's up man? Hello? Maybe I've missed it, but the
guy who got a statue at Dodger Stadium this year
just about single handedly won the nineteen World Series, Sandy
Kofax for l Oh, you know what I wasn't night
and I saw Clayton Kershaw almost break down talking about
(01:45:56):
it's good pal. That was good. Yeah, it's great that
they've had so many spring trainings together and how Sandy
Kofax is still around. In his first start in sixty
five World Series, he only gave up one earned run
at lost. The Dodgers scored two runs or less in
half half the games in that World Series, and that
whole era they were not known for offense at all.
So he pitches Game five and it's a shutout. He
(01:46:18):
pitches all nine innings, ten strikeouts, and then on two
days rest for Game seven, again all nine innings, a
shutout and ten strikes. So and this was after a
regular season in sixty five where he threw twenty seven
complete games and then wins the title on two days
rest with a second straight shutout and ten strikeouts. If
(01:46:39):
you want to, you know, you know what, Steve, I'll
be honest. I was. I was blindly not thinking of
modern era. I was not thinking b R before Richard
I started before me. But you know what, in the
late seventies, a little before we were around, when you
were a little week infant Comino Reggie Jackson nineteen seventy seven,
he he batted close to five hundred in the playoffs
in the World Series, three mems in the clinch, of course. Yeah,
(01:47:01):
I mean, well, Sandy Kovax to back you up to um,
just hearing a lot about him in the past few
days because they unveiled the monument, that statue. They're just saying,
one of the greatest superstars of our life and one
of the most humble guys that you'll ever meet. Yeah,
I thought about him when you mentioned playing other sports
as a kid growing up, he was a basketball guy
and played college basketball. Was thinking only basketball and becomes
(01:47:24):
a baseball Hall of Fame And that's very cool. Man?
Is that funny when you see some of your favorite
superstars Steve playing other sports, Like even in Tom Brady's
Man in the Arena he talks about how much he
loves basketball and plays bass, like played baseball Montana to
basketball basketball. Yeah. Yeah. And yet if you look up
Sandy Kofax World Series stats, it's about sixty innings, six
(01:47:46):
earned runs. It's an e r a under one for
his World Series career. And then his arm fell off
and medicine wasn't what it was then that it is
now who knows, you know, if he had pitched now,
well safe to say we'll put him on the list. Steve, absolutely,
I think it's been proven. That's awesome. Uh And this
weekend it is appropriate because as I say, there are
only two statues there Dodger stab It's Jackie Robinson and
(01:48:07):
now Sandy Koufax. US Open finished today outside Boston, Matt
Fitzpatrick the winner by one stroke. Will Zala Torus tied
for second with Scottie Scheffler. This was Fitzpatrick's first PGA
Tour victory. Golden States Victory Parade will be tomorrow in
San Francisco. The NBA Draft is Thursday. Tomorrow night hockey
Stanley Cup Final continues at Tampa Bay, with Colorado leading
(01:48:28):
two games to none. In the Sunday night ball game,
it wound up a Houston win for three over the
Chicago White Sox, the lost of Michael Kopeck, who had
entered with an e r A under two but four
runs allowed in five innings. Tonight. White Sox shortstop Tim
Anderson does come off the injured list tomorrow. Mike Trout
with a two run homer, is the Angels one at
Seattle again for nothing. Trout with twenty one round trippers
(01:48:50):
second in the major leagues. Colorado and Oakland got home victories,
and Arizona beat Minnesota seven one, so the Cleveland Guardians
are just one game behind the first place Twins in
the AL Central. Cleveland scored two and the ninth off
Dodger closer Craig Kimberl to beat l A five to three.
Milwaukee now tied for first in the NL Central with
the Cardinals St. Louis lost at Boston six to four,
(01:49:11):
while Milwaukee won six three at Cincinnati. Miami beat the
Mets six two, winning pictures, Sandy l Contra seven and
two e r a one point seven to eight, eight
strikeouts in eight innings, and Toronto came from behind to
beat the Yankees ten nine. Back to you would Door's
mom go home? So it happens two runs for the Mets.
(01:49:32):
What's gone on? Buck Showers on kayak right now trying
to get a flight back. Thank you. It's Fox Sports Sunday,
Father's Day. Shout out to all the fathers. Cavino and
rich uh I have a not a great thought. Well
we'll go to all the phone call over Hype your thoughts.
Not what the Yankees just playing the way they are.
(01:49:52):
I haven't thought about them. But let's go to Brian
and your phone calls here, Brian and Florida will go
to you. Man single handedly took his team all the way.
What do you? What do you got? The first thing
I thought of was the two championships between the Bulls
run of six and the nineties. Was the team Olaja
on with the Houston Rockets, And yeah, he had some
(01:50:13):
key players there, But you're right. I always wondered how
that team would have matched up against the balls and
will never find out, but that would have been very interesting.
Would that team have been able to stop MJ. Pippen
and those guys would would Dennis Robin have been in
the mix, and you know, when they've had him in
the mix, then you don't know. Thanks, But yeah, that team, uh,
that team was kind of like a modern team because
(01:50:34):
it was really a team inside and then a bunch
of guys that shot three really well, yeah, you're right,
a very modern you're you and kidding all right? James
and Kentucky? What's up, buddy? Yeah? The the the only
team that I can think of in the modern era
two thousand eleven Dallas Mavericks former passed their prime superstars
around a prime Dirk Noviski. But other than that, he
(01:50:57):
was the the if factor in the only super stroll it.
You know what, You're the second guy with that answer,
and that makes it a top answer from reminder that
we need to include him more in a more in
a goat conversation than he gets credit for. Yeah, that
was I mean, Drek's a definite top you know, he's
always making those top NBA lists Hollywood in Florida. What's up?
(01:51:22):
I have? I have two of them, one in college,
one in the pros. I want to reiterate Dwyane Wade
to know six he got a walker and he had shock.
The shock was a shell of what he used to be.
One is uh Kim t Bow with the Gators, Go Gators. Yeah,
I think you could see a lot more of that.
Just a dominant player, like a man amongst boys. Yeah.
(01:51:43):
Like I I always tell you that if you watched
Cam Newton in college, there were times where you Carmelo
and Carmel. I said, Carmelo made the list because he's
single handedly one cuss. There one n C double A
championship in my lifetime. But you know there was a
point where guys like Cam Newton or even remember watch
like Marcus Mariotta, they were got in college that they
go to the NFL and it's like rude awakening because
(01:52:04):
they were just run there. They're just running through people.
Now your Yankees are dominating. They lost today, but they're
on pace for like what seems to be a hundred
and twenty wins, which is absurd. They'll probably cool. That's
they'll probably cool that at some point you'll probably see
a Yankee team with a hundred ten plus wins. You
probably will unless they get real cold or play five
(01:52:25):
hundred baseball for a month when you look at that team.
Is the equation for baseball different than every other sport
in that My buddy and I talked about this because
he's like, if your team is winning series two out
of three, if you win the series from every bunk team,
every bad team, and then you play five hundred ball
(01:52:47):
against the good teams, that ends up being wins if
you If you like, if you're playing the Pirates or
the Marlins or some bottom feeding team, if you win
two out of three or sweep them, all you need
to do is play five baseball against the good teams,
and you should really expect no more of your team
and shouldn't be mad if they split versus the good teams,
(01:53:08):
because the best team still loses six a year. Well
that's why, I mean, I'm just saying what you just said.
But beating up on the crampy teams is important that
people like to throw that away. They're beating up on
all the craps. They need to beat up on the
crampy teams point made by Cavino there, because a lot
of times you're right that. That's the second part of
my point. When you're beating bad teams, that's what people
(01:53:30):
love to say, Well, look who they meet, like the
Atlanta Braves, just we're on fire. What do they win
fourteen or fifteen a row before they finally lost. Yeah,
well you know who they played. It doesn't matter who
they played. They beat up on the bad teams, and
right now they're back in the playoff mix because they
did what Camino, what you're supposed to do when your
playoff team. Guess what if the if the Braves in
(01:53:51):
a couple of weeks go out west and let's say
they split with the Dodgers, Giants and all the on
their West coast trip, that's a victor if you split,
If you play five of your baseball versus the NL West,
and then you go back to beating up on the Marlins,
the Nationals, the Pirates, the Cubs, that's what makes you
a playoff team. Just always keep that in mind when
when when people say, well they're beating the crappy teams,
(01:54:12):
it of you works in the NFL, Well, yeah, you're
supposed to beat the bottom feeders of your division exactly.
That's how the Patriots won the division for like, let's
seemed like decades in our life. It's gotta win the series. Yeah, alright,
On that note, we come back in a second with
the rest of your phone calls and feedback comin on
Rich on Fox Sports Radio. It's Caveno and Rich on

Father's Day. Happy Juneteenth. There we go. That's what I
was waiting on quere hours. Let's go. Oh, I said
it before, I said it before. Happy Juneteenth weekend. A
lot of people off tomorrow, man, enjoy thanks for thank you,
(01:55:17):
appreciate that juneteen something. A lot of people became, you know,
rightfully aware of over the last couple of years growing
up on the East Coast, never learned it. My wife
is from Texas, I knew all about it. And if
you grew up on the East Coast, a lot of
people are. I'm from California and didn't learn about it
till I was in my twenties, and which is kind
of sad, but you know, it is what it is,
(01:55:39):
history history. Well, enjoy your day off and enjoy your
Juneteenth weekend Father's Day weekend. We're Covino and Rich. Enjoy
us on Tuesday. We're gonna be here on Tuesday. And
for Doug Gottly, thanks for your support at Covino and Rich.
Thank you, Bobo, Danny g Steve to Sagra and Spotty Boy.
I'm excited. Tuesday's gonna be few um per good To
(01:56:00):
wrap it on Father's Day Sunday, you have to commit
to your answer. Best father, Sports, lineage and professional sports. Well,
we gotta go over a few of them, right, refresh
our memories. Just a lot of great ones. I mean
you could start with the obvious. I'm talking Archie who's
(01:56:20):
got two Super Bowl winning sons. Yeah, I know, that's
Stemmach Peyton Eli and that story is not done being
written because kop Manning right, the thea, the next kid,
the next Yeah, the grandson um Ken Norton and Ken
Norton Jr. What I like about this one? It's different sports.
You got a boxer and a football player still dominant.
(01:56:42):
I saw The Zone put out a good father's son
duo and boxing list that I thought it was pretty interesting.
Like I mentioned Julio Ceesar Chaves senior legend, his son
kind of a bum, but still he was a big name.
Uh No, But for the race fans, what about Dale
and Dale Jr? Of course that's a big one. I mean,
the Boons come to mind. Can't forget the Boons in
(01:57:02):
this conversation. You're forgetting that, You're forgetting two huge ones.
Don't say Dick and Pete Webber. Dick and Pete Webber,
you know you sorry? I'm thinking Ken, Griffy and Griffy Jr.
Bobby and Barry Bonds. Honestly, I think maybe it's because
(01:57:26):
of how we were raised, but I think Griffy's have
to be the answer still. But there's still names like
I saw go to MLB on your Instagram. They did
a cool you know what they did? It was really cool.
Rich They're like, oh, Cody Bellinger gets ahold of it,
and then his father Clay snags the home run. Yeah,
(01:57:47):
they did it. They did a cool father's son little
mash up. They did it, Yeah, a mash up. Like
so Cody Balinger hits it looks like it hits a bomb.
Oh and his dad robs the home run. They did
it with tatties. They did it with everybody, and dude,
I didn't know. Shame on me. Charlie Hayes, former Philly,
former New York Yankee champion, never caught the last hour.
(01:58:08):
His son, Brian Hayes on The Pirates. Is that how
you say Cobrian Hayes because he was featured in that
montage where we're seeing a lot of they showed they
showed Cobrian hit a pop up and his dad. You know,
it's uh, we're seeing a lot of young superstars that
could make this list in the years to come, Like
you just had tattoos. Yeah, Tattoos Junior is gonna better
(01:58:30):
than his dad. You see some of the crazy stats
going around where answer where the Guerreros had the same
number of home runs and I think on base percentage
at the same moment of their career. It's like games
or something that we got to represent for the big guys.
To Cecil Fielder and his son Prince, you know, the
other backing of stats, Danny, they they ended their career
(01:58:52):
with the same number of total career home runs. No
one could bregg and Thanksgiving dinner. No, I mean, there's
been some legend father son combos. The only, by the
way to back up Danny, j Cecil and Prince only
father son duo in MLB history to each hit a
fifty home run season. It's incredible imagine that. So, you know, Danny,
(01:59:13):
g you know that that might be the answer with
that start alone, They're not going to commit to an
answer and just tribute to all the thing. What you know,
what I'm gonna say, I'm not Caros might be the
most I'm going I'm gonna I'm gonna go with Archie
and and his goofy kids. You know, if Archie was
on a good team, they'd all have Super Bowls. All right,
We'll see you guys Tuesday forgottlib At, Covino and Rich.
(01:59:35):
Until then, Archy, see you in the Promised Land.
