The Ruger Sfaar is one of thetrim is threeh eight modern sporting rifles available
more power but lighter in the fieldand range. See how light it is
at Ruger dot com. All righty, let's do this thing. Hey,
I'm Tom Gresham. I am yourhost, and this is Gun Talk Radio
or actually more formerly known as TomGresham's Gun Talk. Who else is going

(00:24):
to do this anyway? On theair for twenty nine years talking about guns,
gun rights, the guns that youown, the guns you want to
buy. If you're thinking about buyinga gun, or you're thinking about getting
a gun for self defense. Ican help. I am your guy.
You just give me a call. We'll talk about it here. You have
questions, I have answers. Ihave the correct answers, and then I
have the other answers that may notbe correct. It's up to you to

(00:45):
figure out which is which. Wehave a good time around here, as
you probably know already, and ifyou're new to this, well welcome.
Oh yeah, speaking of new congratsand thanks to the fine folks in Boise,
Idaho radio station. They've been carryingour show for many years and they've
always carried it delayed and today forthe first time, the folks in the

(01:07):
Boise area Treasure Valley can hear gunTalk live and you can call in right
now. Let me make it easyfor you. Each six' six talk
gun. Just the number easier stillif you remember it this way, just
call me a Tom Talk Gun andthat will get you in. We are
open lines right now. I don'thave anybody in front of you. I

(01:27):
don't have any guests here. Ifyou don't call me, I am going
to do my twenty one minute versionof in the Gouda Davida on the Kazoo
just to let you know. Sothat's fair warning. Okay, so not
a problem. Oh wow, wehad a an out of the news.
I got lots of things going on. We're gonna be talking today about we

(01:49):
lost a pioneer in the development ofhunting rifles this week, one of my
favorite hunting rifles. We'll talk aboutthat with Ron Spohmer and talk about a
cool caliber or cartridge that a lotof people don't know anything about, but
it's still really a good one. We're also gonna be talking with a fellow
who is how to put this,he's a sneaky pioneer in the gun rights

(02:13):
world and also doing some amazing things, and we have an incredibly powerful interview
with him coming up. And thenof course we got all the news about
the NRA Holy Cow still things goingon there. We just had the I
don't know if you call it atakeover or reclaiming of the NRA from the
reformers trying and working to take itback from I can only put it my

(02:38):
way, the crooks that have beenrunning the operation for many years now.
I am amazed how many NRA membersstill don't understand what happened with Wayne LaPier
and Akerman McQueen, the PR firmand the current attorney Bill Brewer, and
the money they have siphoned off ofthe NRA and spent and pocketed and wasted

(03:06):
and paid off. It's the onlyway I can put it. Special deals
with board members so they would votethe right way if it were ever to
be total up, and I'm notsure anybody could ever do it, But
if it were ever to be totaledup, I think the amount of money
that has been grifted out of theINTERRA your do's money over the last twenty

(03:30):
years would exceed a billion with aB a billion dollars of your NRA dow's
money in the pockets, spent onprivate jet trips, spent on hundreds of
thousands of dollars of designer clothes, incredible amounts of money on hair and makeup.

(03:55):
I am not making this up.And we're not even talking about the
one million dollars wait for it,waiting one million dollars a week that's currently
being spent on the attorney it's representingthe NRA. It's unbelievable what has happened

(04:15):
there. And now we have ateam of reformers that have started to take
over. They got their work aheadof really cut out for them. It's
it's gonna be tough, but they'regonna do it. They're gonna I am
optimistic, I am enthusiastic. Ithink they're gonna pull this off. I
had more conversations this week with peoplewho were very much involved with this,

(04:38):
and it's okay, I'll be ableto there's a name under the surface that's
been running this thing, making thisthing happen, and I'll be able to
talk about that. I can talkabout it. He said, yeah,
you can. You can tell peoplewho I am and what I've been doing.
Okay, I'll do that, Thankyou, sir. A lot of
things going on. Let's go straightto the phones right now. Let's talk
to Adam online, four out ofTulsa. Hey, Adam, you're on

(05:00):
gun Talk. How can we help? Yeah? I sold everything I have
as far as rifles, and Ihave a lot of handguns and kinding of
bullets for those. But I justwant wanting to see what you thought.
I wanted something lightweight, short anddo the job. You know what I
mean? Well, okay, youwant a rifle, but what's the what's

(05:21):
the use? What are you gonnabe doing with it? A self defense,
country defense, whatever you want tocall it? Okay, self defense
in your home, I take it. I mean, are you you're already
carrying I'm guessing you're you're you gotthe pistols you want, but you want
so tell me what you imagine theuse of this rifle is. Well,

(05:42):
I think we're going to be havingsome problems coming up here. You're and
so I just want to make surei'm covered. You're not helping me,
You're you know, you're you're you'retalking all around it. You're not you're
not answering the question. You're dodgingit? What are you talking about?
It you talk about you're talking aboutshooting your neighbors or are you talking about
defending your home against home? Andare you talking? I mean, what
are you talking about? What inyour mind? What are you see in

(06:02):
here? I'm seeing our country beinginvaded and I think we're gonna have a
war coming up soon. So Ijust you know the doorsteps, okay,
oh you know Russia, Cuba,so the fans turned on. Nothing's hit
it yet. I think we're comingto something here frequent. I don't know.

(06:25):
Okay, what's your background in rifles? Where do you know how to
shoot? I've had a little bitof everything, two twenty three, thirty
car beings, soar AR platforms.Yeah, I don't know that you can
do any better than get your goodar. Here's why. And I would

(06:46):
get in two two three. Iwouldn't get in any esoteric caliber or anything
because there's going to be two twothree or five five six am available.
Uh. The reason is you canuse that for everything from going out to
the range and shooting and having funjust shooting targets. You can use it
for competition and if you want toget involved in any of a number of
different kinds of competition. You caneven use it if you wanted to use
a five, five, six ortwo two three for deer hunting in most

(07:08):
states, you can do that, and then of course it becomes an excellent
home defense tool. It also shouldthe proverbial stuff hit the fan and you
really needed a quote unquote battle rifle, you could do worse than that.
I'm just going to say. His. You know, look, you can
buy a good ar platform from anywherefrom five hundred dollars to thirty five hundred

(07:31):
dollars, buy good quality, geta bunch of magazines, and buy a
bunch I'm not talking six, I'mtalking like thirty or forty magazines. Uh,
and lots of AMMO. And here'sthe main part, this is the
most important part of the gear thatyou need is classes. I'm not talking
about you going to the range topractice. I'm talking about real, no

(07:55):
kidding, honest to god classes andtraining where you go and learn to use
that tool to the best way itcan be used. Because those classes are
full of the what I call intot acronym I NTOT. I never thought
of that. And you take theseclasses and you go, Wow, I

(08:15):
had no idea. That's what youdo? You learn to shoot an AR
or anywhere from three feet to threehundred yards. Yeah, I said three
feet? And what do you needto know to use a gun there?
So for me, if you're askingme, what would be the idea for
all of that, I just don'tknow how you do any better than an
AR platform. I appreciate the call, Sir eight six six Talk Gun is

(08:39):
our number. It's also Tom TalkGun. We are open lines. Give
you a holler. Let's talk guns. Meet the P three twenty two six

(10:09):

and write you a check. Simple, quick, easy, fair. I
trust Derry's Guns. Give him acall Durry'sguns dot com. Hey back with

(10:35):
you. I'm Tom Gresham. Thenumber here is eight to sixty six Talk
Gun or Tom Talkgun. We werejust talking here and to break Jim and
I. You know, we've beentalking about the fact that you can now
get your tax stamp or suppressor. That paperwork's coming through in something like a
week to two weeks. It usedto be close to a year. But

(10:58):
it also means that you can getan SBR in a week or two weeks.
SBR for short barrel rifle. Nowstay with me for this. So
this this line of thinking here if, as our last caller says, you're
concerned about, who knows what?I will tell you what I'm concerned about.

(11:18):
He's talking about, you know,Russians and all that. I'm thinking,
yeah, you know, I thinkthat they're the plan has been and
is successful. They're planting an awfullot of bad people in our country coming
across our borders, people who areprimed and ready to start executing plans as
well as executing us. And thatpistol on my hip, while it's always

(11:41):
there, may not be enough inmany situations. Think about this, a
short barrel rifle and that sbr anAR fifteen platform if you will, with
an eight or ten inches barrel anda suppressor and a collapsible or folding stock,
can go into a very small backand you can have it in your

(12:01):
car or your truck, in yourtrunk, whatever. And if the stuff
really did hit the fan, andthere are roving packs of Falons out there,
and we see that right now interms of lots of big crowds of
criminals. If you had or letme back up, if you somebody said,

(12:22):
okay, you are going to bein a gunfight. Do you want
a pistol or a rifle. I'mtaking the carbete every time. So anyway,
I don't know. I haven't doneit, but I've been thinking about
it and think about SBRs and whatthat represents as an addition to your essential
safety gear. I don't know.I'm just starting to noodle the idea.

(12:46):
I'm open to suggestions or thoughts onit. If you have any thoughts,
give me how I appreciate that.Let's see. Let's talk to Dan and
Reno. He's on two. HeyDan, light, it's a gun talk.
What's up? Hey? Tom?Good? Talk to you today.
Charter Arms thirty eight special with thefour inch barrel okay Aayden, Statford,

(13:07):
Connecticut. And it's got a onepiece metal frame and my father in law
included some plus p AMO with it, and I was wondering if that would
be safe to shoot. Yes,it should be safe to shoot. Now
here's what I would offer, generallyspeaking, I would say on any thirty

(13:30):
eight, I would give it aboutan eighty eight or rather a ninety eight
percent diet of non plus PMO simplybecause why do I need to go to
the range and you know, haveextra wear and tear on me as well
as my gun with additional recoil ifin practicing. Having said that, then
if I had to use it,or I wanted to use it and carry

(13:52):
it or have it home for selfdefense, I would most definitely put plus
PMO in it because you're talking sixshots. You're not going to hurt the
gun in six shots no matter whatit is. So I would be feeding
as standard AMMO all the time forshooting, and then I would have plus
PMO in it for self defense.Well, great, that answers my question.

(14:15):
This was my first gun. Oh, I wanted one when I was
fourteen, but my father he laughedand said, if you need a gun,
they'll give you one for free.Well, now, when you say
this is your first gun, didyou just recently get this? Is this
the only gun you own? No, this is the only one I've owned,
and it was just last year whenI inherited it. He passed and

(14:39):
this was my inheritance. Are yougonna shoot it or is this just one
you're going to keep in the family. Well, we're going to keep it
in the family, and it isfor home self defense. That's why he's
got the plus P I imagine,right. Can I make a suggestion I
would ask you to do this.If you're going to keep in the home

(15:00):
for self defense, please go takea class in self defense with firearms because
if you have not had a classlike that, and I'm not trying to
be mean or condescending, but everythingyou know about it is wrong. And
I know it's hard to hear becauseyou're thinking, well, yeah, I
know, basically, what do youneed to know? The problem is all

(15:22):
the stuff in your head that's floatingaround about self defense with guns was most
likely put there by movies and TV. And I would just ask it for
your safety and proficiency, take areal class in self defense with firearms,
and I think you'll come away numberone enjoying it, number two having learned

(15:43):
a lot. Just by two cents. Okay, right, there's a number
of classes offered in Reno. Ohyes, Rena was a great place for
gun owners and classes. So yes, sign up and talk to the instructor.
Even if you just did a oneon one class with somebody instructor,
you could do that or do agroup class. But I would say,
just please go get a class andbecome proficient, which will also make you

(16:08):
safe and you'll learn some habits andsome practices that will also increase your safety.
Look, I appreciate the call, congrats on the I'm sorry about you
know, inheriting anything because it meansthat somebody died. But that's that's a
cool gun. So there you go. Let me run down to Steve online
three out of Oklahoma. Steve, you're on gun Talk. How can we
help you, sir? Hey,Steve you there. Oh, Steve went

(16:34):
away. We'll try well, we'lltry him back a little bit. He
went to get a sandwich. Yeah, I mean that's what happens. One
of the things that happens. Imean, look, I know you know
this because this is not like asecret. Uh. You gotta listen on
in your on hole. You gotto listen on your phone and out on
your radio. One thing is adelay we have to put in there.

(16:57):
So there you go. Oh,here's an interesting event. We have hear
you hear about kids with guns andthe problems of kids with guns all the
time. Here's something that happened inNew York State. Man, there's a
massive shooting. There were two thousandshooters kids with guns. Yeah, it's

(17:21):
the trap shooting contest in New YorkState. They had two thousand students there,
kids starting at age twelve, shootingtrap shooting probably two hundreds of thousands
of rounds of shotgun. Nobody gothurt, nobody got shot, everybody was

(17:42):
polite, everybody was safe. Andthese are youngsters, practically all of them
under the age of eighteen, twothousand of them. This is the story
that doesn't get told much. Sothere you go. Let's see if we
can get see you back on herefrom Oklahoma. Steve you there, Yes,

(18:03):
sir, I am okay. Sohow can we help us? Sir?
Well? Two? Thanks. Numberone. Just want to give a
shout out to a friend of mine, a Butch Feozier that has a gun
camp for kids here in Woodward,Oklahoma. He's started out real small for

(18:26):
about fifteen years ago. It's afree camp right now. We have four
sessions in two different weeks and werun about one hundred and fifty kids through
this camp. That is free.Wow, it's all sponsorship. First day

(18:48):
they come, they will shoot indoorsat twenty five yards twenty two long rifles
and they will shoot outdoor, soit's scope twenty two suppressed at fifty yards.
The second day they get to shootindoors if they want to still,

(19:08):
they shoot twenty two suppressed pistols outdoors, and then they shoot long range rifles
six creed six by forty seven suppressedat two hundred, three hundred and five
hundred yards. Let me just guessthat would take a while. Stamp.

(19:32):
The kids do really well at thisright, yes, sort of. Yeah,
well, young eyes help a lot. Yes, that does help.
They are all super kids. Butyeah, it's really the ages is from
eight to fourteen, and when theyage out of it, there's several of

(19:57):
them that come back and help usevery year. That is so cool.
Well, you know what you're doingis you're teaching them safe gun handling.
They don't have a fear of theyhave respect for guns. And if they
run across a gun when they're atsome friend's house, they know you know
how to handle it and how tobe safe around it, and also to
recognize if their friends being unsafe. So not only are you giving them an

(20:21):
introduction to a lifetime sport, agreat sport, but you're also teaching them
safety throughout the whole process. Yes, that's a that's mandatory. The last
day they come is we have thestate Game Rangers bring their trap machine and
their archery targets and the kids getintroduced to that stuff as well. Oh

(20:45):
that's so cool. Look a bigout of boy to you guys. I
hate to do this, but I'mnot going to run out of time in
our segment here, but that isjust absolutely terrific, and I would encourage
thank you for that call. Ido appreciate that. I want to encourage
everybody wherever you are to look aroundand say, is there a program like
that here? If there is,maybe there's a way you can get involved.

(21:07):
If you've been a gun owner anda shooter and a hunter and maybe
an instructor for years. They needvolunteers, trust me, they do.
And if there's not a program likethat around, you can get one started.
I would offer this. I've beenthinking about this recently. It's time
for each of us to do somethinggreat. How do you? And great

(21:29):
could be small, Okay, itcould be small, and it can be
I'm going to volunteer to help. They need range officers, they need people
to organize, they need people.Well, I'm going to get involved.
It's that got to weigh the buttanchor. Your butt anchors lows you down
and you're sitting in that chair, you got to get out of it.
It's time to get out there anddo stuff. And in volunteering to help

(21:51):
a youth shooting program, what agreat thing to do. And it's one
of those deals where they say, don't let the old man in, you
know, get out there and beactive. No matter how old you are
or young you are. People needthat, so volunteering is a great thing.
Eight six bix Talk Gun or TomTalk Gun. Gimme holler. We

(22:11):
can talk guns right here. Welcomeback to gun Talk. I'm Tom Gresham.
I am your host. You canjoin us if you want to call.
You know, honestly, here's thedeal. This is just like us
sitting around a campfire, shooting thebreeze, talking and if you got something
on your mind, it could bea question, it could be a comment.

(22:33):
It could be what we call arange report. You went out to
the range doing a little shooting,or you went to the store and have
a store they Basically it's a storythat you can tell us. And we
particularly like the ones where you tooksomebody out and introduced them to shooting.
That's fun, or you got somecool guns you want to tell us about
or maybe you inherited or purchased somethingnew and cool. It didn't really matter.

(22:57):
We're just we're shooting the breeze.Talk about guns. Now here's the
deal. We don't talk about doingirresponsible things because that's not us. We're
the good guys and gals, theones who own guns responsibly use them safely.
Okay, if you want to bea part of that, it's really
easy. The phone number here iseight six' six Talk Gun or just

(23:21):
call me a Tom Talk Gun.Either one gets you in here. We
got the news this week of thedeath of Melvin Forbes, the creator of
Ultra light Arms. Melvin was ahigh school shop teacher who decided that we
should be able to have super lightweighthunting rifles that still shot well. Remember

(23:45):
this is forty years ago, andwhat he did in pursuing that changed what
we think of as lightweight hunting riflesand what they can do. A little
bit later in the show, I'lltalk with Ron Spoehmer about that. And
Ron's been using Ultra light Arms riflesfor a long time, and I'll be
taking one out to hunt elk anddeer later this year. I was just

(24:07):
at the range with mine and it'sin the two eighty four Winchester Cartrion.
Yeah, I know it's weird andnot a lot of people know about that
one. But I'm developing loads andI'll talk a little bit about that as
we go along, about what happenswhen you develop loads and the process of
trying to find a good load, something that shoots accurately. I think I'm
getting really close and I'll fill youin on that. But first, we

(24:29):
have some folks who are calling in. Obviously, if you want to call
us eight sixty six Talk Gun let'ssee. Let's grab a Jeff in South
Dakota. He's online too. Hey, Jeff, welcome to gun Talk.
We had a little Tom. Thanksfor taking my call. You bout how
can we help? I'll try andmake it short and sweet. I hope
to go in a little punting thisfall. I reload for with a for

(24:53):
a twenty two fifty and a thirtysixth Can I make one of those guns
work for antelope punting? Or doI need to hunt for something in between?
Either of those would work just finefor antelope with your twenty And here's
the thing you already know handlop werenot real big and they're honestly, they're

(25:17):
not hard to kill. The mainthing is being able to hit them.
The twenty two two fifty is agreat caliber and will work really well.
The only possible downside is you're usingbullets and that that are not the high
ballistic co efficient bullets that we areusing sometimes now that really help minimize wind

(25:42):
drift and out in your part ofthe world you get a lot of wind,
as you know only too well, and so you if you practice with
your twenty two two fifty and knowhow to handle it in the wind,
you know, going out shooting abunch of prede dogs is a really good
way to master that. I thinkthat's a great caliber. Obviously, thirty
out six will do anything and everything, and it would work fine. And

(26:03):
there will be people who tell you, oh, it's more than you need
for Adler, so what it killsthem dead. So I would say,
picked the rifle you shoot the best, and you like the best, and
use that. Well. That's goodadvice, Bud. Thank you appreciate your
good input. Well, good deal, good hanging. Thanks for the call.
Appreciate that it's grab Matt. He'sin West Bargo, North Dakota.

(26:26):
Hey, Matt, you got torange report for us, sir, Yes,
sir, just left our local indoorrange. And I want to encourage
your listeners to get semi auto twentytwo rim fire with suppressor capability. I
have a t X twenty two witha suppressor, and oh what fun it

(26:48):
is, isn't it? Though?I mean, and it is the perfect
tool for introducing somebody to shooting. And you have a red dout on it,
right, Yes, sir, gotto say red dot. And it's
just purely enjoyable. Okay. Whatis it that you like so much about
a twenty two pistol with a canon it with a red dot? What

(27:11):
makes it fun? Very accurate, low cost to shoot? And it just
makes you smile When you pull thattarget back, you kind of get a
giggle thing going when you're shooting it. You go, man, it's not
making any noise. I have norecoil. I can shoot this thing.
I love the red dot, butyou also took it. Looks like I'm

(27:33):
looking at my sheet here. Yougot took a couple of blocks out too,
Yes, sir, I have ared dot on my block thirty four
and just an enjoyable piece and thatwith the red dot on a rest will
do amazing results. And then myBlock forty three X is a carry gun
that I have a red dot onand it's improved my shooting greatly. That

(27:59):
is such a nice carry gun,the forty three X the forty three platform,
and I have one, but Idon't have a red dot on it,
and I can just see how thatwould just add a little bit to
it to make it just an evenbetter package. Yet, sir, well,
that is great, well good shooting, and I appreciate the range report,
and yeah, I echo your enthusiasmfor a twenty two semi auto pistol

(28:25):
with a suppressor with a red dot. It just honestly doesn't get much more
fun than that. And also ifyou really work at it, you can
find out how good a twenty twois. You can be hitting steel at
easily at twenty five yards, andif you're careful with your trigger press,

(28:45):
you could be I was going tosay banging steel, but with a twenty
two you're more like tinking steels, tink, tink. It's not like a
big bang when it hits it.But fifty yards not a problem at all.
So there you go. So lookingfor your range reports. Our number
here is eight six six Talk God. I'm Tom Russian. This is gun

fifty seven and one in twenty twoof the lcrs, so I knew I
liked the platform, and I justthought, well, you know, I've
got all this nine milimeter and Iyou know, it's just a good a
good place to get out and stuff, and it's you know, generally the
most reasonably priced AMMO you can buy. So and I finally got one,
and mostly just because I wanted it. Well, yeah, if you priaced

(32:08):
thirty eight special versus nine, you'llbuy nine every time, now, absolutely,
absolutely, Yeah, it's a it'smuch cheaper to shoot my nine millimeter
than it is to shoot the threefifty seven. Well, so the other
thing is if you've get the fullmoon clips for that. Talk about speed
reloading, I mean just dump outthe old and throw in the you know,

(32:30):
five new more rounds, and Imean it is fast once you get
it figured out how to use those. Yes, that's it. It came
with two, and I'm hoping tobuy about a dozen more, and then
I'm hoping to get out tomorrow andget it dirty and see how it feels
now really, because all right,I got I gotta think for me to
do this. Fine, Okay,Okay, now tell you buddies to say

(32:51):
I got me a new nine milimeterand a bunch of clips for it.
You see where I'm going, right, Yes, yes, and they're going
to go, not clips. Yougo, actually, in this case they
are clips. Yes, yeah, not an N block clip, but it
is a clip. That's right. You go, they go, what,

(33:13):
Yes, it's nine minimeters with clips. They go, no, it's a
magazine. No, it's a clip. Now you just go back and forth
like who's on first? Well, great, that's a great ranger for it.
Go out and shoot that thing.I know you're going to have fun
with it. You know what. The most dangerous thing to say in a
gun store is what's that have?Any blank version of that story? I

(33:35):
had bought a Adillan seven fifty scarce. They didn't have any caliber conversions,
and I didn't realize that that wasrequired for that particular press. You couldn't
just set it up like a typicalsingle stage. So anyway, I was
in there for something else and hey, y'all got any caliber conversions? For
a fifty h three hundred and sixtydollars Later, I walked out with caliber

(34:00):
for conversions for pretty much every rifleI have, which was a good thing.
But I wasn't expecting to spend thatmuch of that day. So yeah,
I've done the same thing I alwayssay the three most expensive words are
might as well. So there youtoo, there we go. We'll all
right, good, good for you, and right now, thanks for the
call. Appreciate that. For thosethat haven't looked. Right now, it's

(34:20):
a buyer's market on ammo and ninemilimeter Ammo you can pick up for twenty
three, twenty four to twenty fivecents a round being on where you are
for practice, Amo cheap stuff. If you're not buying, I think you're
crazy, honestly right now, becauseit's going to go up. We know
it is. We've got a shortageof nitrocellulose. We've got wars around the
world that are burning up artillery roundsusing the same materials we need for our
AMMO. I personally think amal's goingto go up significantly. And look,

(34:45):
do what you want to do.I don't make any money out of it
if you buy Ammo. Okay,it's not true that I don't care because
I don't want you to come backa year for now and said, man,
you should have told me the priceis going to go up. Yes,
okay, I'm telling you now.In a year, they're gonna be
a good bit higher. Right now, it's a buyer's market on AMMO,
especially nine and five, five six. When you get into some of these

(35:09):
others three fifty sevens and forty foursand forty fives, man, it gets
a lot more expensive. Or here'sa question for you, is anybody shooting
forty five ACP anymore? It's everybodygone to nine. I just don't hear
of anybody buying forty five so muchanymore. I did want to do a
quick story on the NRA reform effort. The powers that be and in this

(35:31):
case, the powers that be area lot of it's Buzz Mills over at
Gunsite. He was behind the wholething, started to get the shots show
in January and organized a key groupof board members and they had regular meetings,
and then as they got closer tothe NRA annual meetings, they started
having weekly meetings, and then theyhave daily meetings. And they were organized,

(35:52):
and they put their slate together andthey knew what they were going to
do, and Buzz was running thewhole thing. Buzz was blind down up
to be elected president and then oneboard member she went on a tear and
a campaign against him. And we'llgo into the details because they were ugly,

(36:13):
but Bob Barr got elected president. He's old school in RA, which
is not good. But that's goingto pass as well. But they got
in their key people, three outof four in the key slots. And
also, as you know if youheard the show last week, Mark or
rather Doug Hamlin is the new executivevice president and he's got his hands full.

(36:36):
And I've had people say, well, yeah, but what about this,
what about that? It's been likethree weeks. Give them some time.
They're working on it. They can'tgo change the bylaws overnight. They
can't reduce the number of directors fromseventy six down to something more reasonable right
away. I have a recommendation, though, because we've got an awful lot
of board members that shouldn't be there, and a lot of them Frank Beer

(36:59):
there because they are. Would itbe too harsh to say they're on the
take. At least they're making moneyout of the NRA. I mean,
we have people making one thousand dollarsa week for doing nothing, and yeah,
I'm not going to name her.And then we have you know,
the likes of Marion Hammer. Ithink she was getting four hundred thousand dollars

(37:21):
a year. Basically, if youwere on the right side of Wayne Lapierre,
you could get a cool deal andget money invote the right way.
At least that's how I understood it. Well. One way to get rid
of some of those folks is simplycut off the supply of money, and
I think that probably is either happeningor has already happened. I think probably

(37:44):
there won't be any directors who aregetting any money personally out of the NRA
at that point. I think abunch of them are going to decide they
don't want to be there anymore. You got also some slugs on the board
who are there only because it's howthey achieved some level of importance in their

(38:06):
life. I would love to seethe size of the board reduced from seventy
six down to about twelve. Again, I think it takes a bylaw and
a change for that. You've gotBill Brewer, the attorney representing the NRA
in these lawsuits and different things. He is billing them at a rate of
write about a million dollars a week, not a month a week, a
million dollars a week. He'll probablybe retained and kept on until they get

(38:32):
through with the case of New Yorknext month. That I'm guessing they're looking
for a way to send him outto enjoy his millions he has made from
the NRA. Just my thoughts onthat, but all in all, it's
a good thing. The reformers arein and they're working the problem. I'll
keep you posted on that as theygo along. Hey, I'm Tom Greshton.

(38:55):
We'll be right back with gun Talking. Let's go straight to the bones.
Marks with us out of North Carolina. He's on line five. Hey,
Mark, you've made it on thegun Talk. How can we help
you? Sir? Well, thankyou for taking the call. I have

(39:16):
a few guns. I'm getting older, I'm disabled now. Well I used
to live out west. I usedto hunt deer and antelope and birds.
But now I have these guns andI just don't need them anymore. So
I'm thinking of selling them. I'mjust wondering how I could best determine the
value of them, and maybe thebest place to sell them. I have

(39:38):
a recommend. Look, there area lot of ways to go. I
mean, you could take them toa local gun store, they can look
them up. But I've got aplace that I used personally, and even
though they're in Texas. They're reallygood at working with people all over the
country. You give them a calland they'll basically get a rundown of what
you have. They'll tell you whatthey think they're worth. They'll make you

(40:00):
an offer, and if you're okaywith that, they make it easy.
They'll send you a box. Youput it in the box, it's got
a label on it, sends itback to them. It's a it's a
turnkey operation. And I have donebusiness with them for gosh twenty years now.
It's called Doury's Guns d u ry S Dury's Guns. Their website
is Duriesguns dot com. But Ican give you a phone number if you

(40:21):
prefer, I can look it upat durisguns dot com. Yes, sir,
d u r y s durisguns dotcom. Uh yeah, tell them,
you know, I send them sentyou over there. I sold them
well, in fact, kind ofa similar situation. After my dad died.
I got a bunch of guns fromhim and I sold them a couple

(40:42):
of hundred guns. And the waythey work is really straightforward, and like
I say, I trust them completely. They said, look, this is
what we think we can sell themfor this is what we think the value
is. If you want us towrite you a check right now, we
will write your check for seventy percentof that they get thirty percent commission.
If you want to put it withus on commission and just let us sell

(41:07):
it how how long it takes, then they only take twenty percent. I
took the thirty percent commission because Iwanted to just do a quick and easy
sale and make it clean, andthose guys got to make money, and
I was okay with that. Soanyway, that's that's the way it works.
I don't know if that would workfor you, but that's good operation.
Yeah, that sounds like a goodsolution to my problem. I appreciate

(41:27):
it. Tom. Yep, youbet. Now anybody else that's looking to
get rid of guns and thanks forthe call, appreciate that. Sir Dury's
guns also, of course, here'smy problem. They also sell guns,
and they got like this. Iwould even call it stupid. Incredible warranty.
You buy a used gun from Duries, they give you a warranty for
life. Aren't a used gun forlife? If ever breaks, they'll fix

(41:51):
it. They can't fix it,they'll replace it. It's just kind of
nuts and they have My problem isI've sold them a bunch of guns around
and buy a bunch of guns fromthem two so we got guns go in
both directions all the time. Itseems like they always have some interesting stuff
over there. Doweries Guns dot Compretty neat outfit. Come on, if

(42:12):
we're going to do an interview witha longtime friend of mine. He has
powerhouse in the farm's industry, buthe's doing some interesting stuff that actually nobody
knows about. Some of the thingswe didn't even talk about in this interview
and I'll write him out sometime inthe future, and some of the other
cool things he's doing for gun rights. But this interview, I would encourage

(42:36):
you to hang in here and listento this because our interview with Pete brown
l from brown El's is I thoughtwas pretty powerful and he reveals some things
that he's doing that I was notaware of that kind of left me speechless,
and I think you will find itinteresting. And if they're celebrating the
eighty fifth anniversary of Brownel's, whichis cool. It's a great company and
they have started from basically having toolsfor unsmiths now they have everything for all

(43:00):
of us. And I get mydaily emails from them, and I'm going,
yeah, I want that. Oh, Oh, I want that too.
Oh. I don't actually know whatthat thing is they're selling, but
it looks cool. I want thattoo. And so you see that's how
I get all. Yes, Icould self enable. I don't have to
enable you. I can enable myself. I have that argument with myself all

(43:20):
the time. Hey, our numberhere is eight six six talk gun and
if you want to look us upgun talk dot com and overall on Twitter,
I am at gun talk that I'mposting regularly over there. Don't go
far. You want to hear thisnext innerview
