Speaker 2 (00:22):
So, you've made it through three hours of the regular
show on terrestrial radio and you wanted a little bit more.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
So that's why you found the.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Gun Talk After Show podcast where we saved all the
best things that we can't say on regular radio. Now
here's Tom, Michelle and Jim for the gun Talk after Show.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
It's time for the after show. We have Jim Kinsey here,
and we finally got rid of that woman. It worked,
It worked, well, not for long. She just had to
go somewhere this week. Sorry, Michelle uh well.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
And Tom Henning is out Dear the son of a gun.
Speaker 4 (01:01):
That sound of a gun, well, that's okay. I was
out there hunting yesterday with took that fifteen year old out.
We had fun and then of course I got my
deer last week. That was fun. And now the seasons, well,
let's shut down right now because let me just tell you,
in the three hours we've done on the show. The
snow is piling up out there, and so Tom needs
to get out and shell some snow.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
There you go, So where are you?
Speaker 4 (01:25):
You could be over in helping me, you know that, right? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:27):
I could be there in about eighteen hours something like that.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
Yeah, if you by dog slid. Hey, let's grab Bob.
He was kind enough to hold on with us. Out
of Indiana Pennsylvan. Wait a minute, all right, Bob, is
it Indiana or is it Pennsylvania? Which is it? Oh?
Speaker 5 (01:45):
Some people were just two waysy to move, so I
renamed the town.
Speaker 4 (01:49):
Indiana, Pennsylvania. Oh gosh, that's not confusing at all.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
No, no, let's see. My first question is I I'm
looking at a G Force lever action rifle. I've never
heard of it, but I saw an advertised that I
was a rural king, and it's considerably less expensive than Henry's.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Right, I have to tell you, and Jimmy, you can
help me out. I don't have any experience with the
G Force, but you know, they make a lot of
different guns, and people seem to like their guns. I
don't know about their levers, but they seem to like
the G Force. They represent a less expensive option.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Yeah, I've not hurt any bad, so I guess that's good,
that's true, have not.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
Okay? And can I give you a range report and
shout outs? Yeah, okay, my first range report and shout out.
Two years ago, I took my niece Stephanie, our husband
in three high school children. We went to the range.
We did shooting with bunch of guns and they all
had a blast. And then when I cleaned my Ruger
(03:06):
Mark three twenty two, I took it apart and I
couldn't get it back together. So I called Ruger and
they were able to talk me through it. Cool, and
I say, now I've got two options here. I never
shoot the gun again it stays clean, or if I
shoot it, never clean it.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
You know, that is a problem, and that's why I
have gone to the dishwasher method top rack. Just open
the action, throw it in there, put it in let's row.
Speaker 5 (03:34):
Right, okay. My second shot out and rangery foot. Last
this past summer, I took my son and my grandson
who's six years old. He did his first shoot and
we used a little savage and his first shot he
hit the bullseye and then we lost. Oh no, So
(03:57):
we told look, you just keep shooting and you hit well.
Ten rounds, ten hits, and Savage sent me a new
rear sight.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Oh cool, Okay, they ended. Interesting how often the gun
companies just say, yeah, I don't wory about it. What
take care of that for you?
Speaker 5 (04:15):
Yeah. My third shout out goes to Governor Hockel of
New York, Mayor Adams and de Blasi of New York City,
because they've done more to convert anti gunners into gun
carrying people that I know who I used to live
on Long Island, and even my brother who said he'd
(04:36):
never have a gun, he's going to get one.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Nice.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Okay, describe that process with your brother. What I mean,
I know what the governor and the mayor have been doing.
What specifically was your brother looking at that made him.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
Change the crime rate and the catch and release and
just the civil disturbance.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
Plus you got a lot of illegals there now on
the government dole. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
Well, it takes after a while. It just it takes
a while for it to get through people's heads because
they're used to hearing that everything's fine, it's going to
be okay. We're just you know, we're just taking care
of people. We've got a system, and then they start
seeing the results of it and they going, this does
not make sense. You're letting the criminals go. And it's
(05:28):
one thing for them to tell you crime is down.
But like in the crisey of your brother, he's talking
to his friends, he's getting reports from neighbors. He's actually
hearing and seeing what's really going on. And it's not
the crimes going down. It's that it's going up. But
more than that, it's very violent crime. And at that
point you're thinking, I don't trust those politicians anymore.
Speaker 5 (05:53):
Oh. One more thing. About twelve years ago, after my
mother passed away, over at my brother's house and at
that time he was still anti gun and he's there
with his two sons, his wife, and my sister is
there with her husband, son and daughter, and I had
just gotten back in front side firearms training, and so
(06:16):
they're asking about it and my brother in law comes
up with all these stupid things and he says, well,
you know, if you carry a gun, you just want
to shoot somebody. I said, I can prove you wrong
right now. He said, how's that? He said, Okay, he
took the bait because I haven't shot you yet. My
three nephews there laughing, hysterical. Finally, his son says, that
(06:39):
is when it comes to guns, you're not going to
beat Uncle Roberts. So why don't you just get.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
That's what you tell your brother. I haven't shot you yet,
and you've certainly given me justification for it. But you know,
that's interesting thing. I have had people tell me that,
they said, well, you carry a gun because you want
to shoot somebody. I'm thinking, you know, if that's the case,
I have wasted thirty years of carrying a gun. I
(07:07):
had multiple opportunities.
Speaker 5 (07:09):
I never saw anybody.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
Wow, okay, oh. One thing I was going to say,
and I know you know this. Since you've been to
Front Site and you've gotten training, are you going to
help your brother get some training? Uh?
Speaker 5 (07:23):
Yeah, well he's just required now in New York, so
he has to go before he gets his gun.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
Yeah okay. And then of course you can also go
with him, because they're not going to teach you the
kind of stuff you learned at Front Sight, so you
can help him a good bit if you guys go
one on one together.
Speaker 5 (07:38):
My problem is he's still on Long Island, so he's
four hundred miles away, and.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
You don't want to go back to Long Island, do you.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
No? When we do go back, my wife sees me
change when we get to around mile mark or thirty
on Interstate eighty in New Jersey, I changed completely, and
I'm glad I left my gun home.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, that's the other part. You can't take
a gun with you there, so you got to get
him to come out to visit you. Yeah, all right, No,
thank Bob. Look, I appreciate it. Great call, good points
all the way around, and good on you. Hope your
brother stay safe. Thank you for the call, sir. All right,
(08:25):
that covered a lot of ground right there.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
But from Indiana to Pennsylvania, of course, we covered a
lot of ground.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
Pennsylvania, New York, all the way.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Through my state. That's where he.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Had New York there, you go. I hear about this
all the time. People in uh, basically anti gun states
or people who have really pretty strong anti gun beliefs
to the point where they voiced them to their family
and they mock their family members who've decided to have
guns for self defense, and then they do this transformation
(08:56):
and they finally get to the point where they go,
you know, I've just seen enough. I think I think
I need to do something about this. Yeah, well that's
and for everybody who's listening, when you hear that, it's
not a chance to do I told you so, it's
a chance to say, Okay, let's let's get you to
where you need to be. It's not just what They
(09:17):
always ask the same question, right, Jim, what gun should
I buy? Yeah? Yeah, well one of you can. We
can talk about that and there will be a gun
that'll work for you. But that's really the wrong question
at this point. It's what do I need to do
to be safe and competent? Two things, safe and competent.
(09:38):
And what you need to do is get some training.
And people go, yeah, well I know how to shoot
you or I had somebody show me how to load it.
Oh gosh, real class, your real class. You last at.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Least a day, and it's today, and the one thing
you haven't touched on is you're competent. You're safe obviously too.
Most important things you don't have to mention how much
fun it's going to be, because that's kind of a distraction.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
Early.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Now, Oh you're gonna have fun, Well, I'm not here
for fun. I'm here to say my love. This fund
is just going to happen anyway. I don't know anybody
who's ever shot, and really, I mean I've had a
couple of shoot. Yeah, it's not my thing. That's different.
But people that shoot always want to go back. Have
you noticed that? You say, somebody to shoot?
Speaker 4 (10:16):
You?
Speaker 3 (10:17):
Can I shoot more? Can I have more? Hey, here
you go. I'll let them burn all my amo if
they haven't that much fun, I will.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
Especially if you start them. You set it up for success.
You have a large target and it's up close, and
don't won't you be missing in a twenty two if
you possibly can? That is absolutely the way to go.
You know, obviously your protection here in high protection, but yes,
a twenty two at seven yards even five yards, nice
(10:45):
and close. So they're having a good time. They've got
success in that first target. Bring it in, pull it down,
sign it and date it. They will take it home
with them, guarantee.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
And that's different in the cell phone you know society
we have now everybody takes pictures, take pictures of it too.
Speaker 4 (11:05):
Keep it that's true. It's a good point. But yeah,
send it home. That's pretty cool deal. They'll find a
place to put it, even if it's in the garage,
it'll be up somewhere. Ye. All right, break time, break down,
All right, take a break, will you?
Speaker 3 (11:19):
I need a break for me, Gresham.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
I know everybody does.
Speaker 6 (11:34):

All right, we're back. We're running up on holidays and
it's time for gifts and things. I do this once
a year. I'm going to put this thing out for people,
and you just got to forgive me. I mentioned earlier
that I've been a professional photographer for fifty years and
I have a photography business. And last year I got close,
(12:58):
I didn't quite get there. Almost made one hundred dollars
through the year. Wow, a professional business. I know. Well, hey,
look if you get paid your professional right, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Well with ten grand in write offs, all the gear
you bot.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
And now so much of us done on the phone,
it's unbelievable. But I'll have to say, look, if you
had like a Tom Gresham photograph, you go to Tom
greshamphotography dot com. Take a look. They're mostly scenics. There's
some pretty good stuff there. I mean, I just I
sent you on a little while ago, Jim. It was
gorgeous and have fun. So I've been able to work
(13:33):
with a lot of very excellent photographers, from the top
photographers and learn a lot through the years, and so
I'm having fun with that. So if you want a
picture from me, Tom Gresham photograph, I've got a lot
of them there and you can get them on prints
small prints, large prints, canvas metal, you can put them
on your phone cover with one of my pictures whatever.
(13:55):
You know, it's just kind of a fun deal. It's
at least it's different. So you know, Tom, it's Tom
Gresham Photography dot Com.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
I use one of those on my album project. Remember,
Oh that's right you did. That was a great shot,
A great shot.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
Yeah. I'm still getting royalties off of that.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Oh yeah, and you know how long it took me
to get rid of that watermark. That took forever.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
Oh lordie. So anyway, that's fun stuff.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Oh gift you were talking about?
Speaker 4 (14:24):
Gift? Yeah, yeah, yes, okay, go ahead, an idea, Well, you.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
Know I always I suggest ear muffs and eyes and
stuff that that's kind of my standard thing and trainee. Obviously,
this year I'm giving to people that are not anti
gun but just gun neutral, shall we say. I'm giving
him a box of AMMO and a certificate for lessons
because if you could, you know, you my buddy. The
(14:48):
reason I thought it was my buddy John. I asked him,
why did you get another guitar? You have like twenty
five guitars. He said, well, I had an empty guitar
case and we can't have that. So that's why you
bought a guitar. I'm thinking, you know, if you bought
somebody AM and say, well you got a guy, they
have a gun now to put around it a.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
Lot, and you know, and let's go to the range.
I'll take you to the range, or we're going we'll
shoot together. That's interesting because I was thinking, Uh, everybody
who is a shooter would probably like to get not
just a box a brick of twenty two rem fire ammo.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Oh yeah, because it's affordable.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
Yeah, it's available now and it's pretty affordable. And if
you open that up and you've got a brick, you
got five hundred rounds of twenty two rim fire, that
would be a cool gift.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Good morning. But yeah, I mean nobody's gonna say only
on twenty two. Oh cool, Yeah, because yeah, I can't
afford it by some five hundred rounds of nine or something.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
No, but you're twenty two, you can't. And everybody we
know who's a shooter has a twenty two.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Sure. Well, Plus it helps them that you can say
I'm giving this Christmas gift for you, but you know
the residual effect of that, it's kind of snowballs, rolls
downhill and they take other people shooting and kind of
right spiders out. Yeah. I like that.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
If you want to give yourself a gift, I'm just
we're spitballing now and I'm throwing stuff out. Why not
give yourself the gift of a class where you become
a certified instructor. Oh yep, that'd be cool. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
I've looked at that a couple of times and it's
like I'm chomping at and the problem is around here,
at least I'm sure it's different elsewhere. The problem around
here is they're always on weekends, always Saturday and Sundays.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
Yes, so trust me, I know. And then a lot
of the places where I've lived, all of the IDPA
class not classes, and the competitions were all on Sunsunday.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Yeah, you know, have anything going on?
Speaker 4 (16:50):
Yeah? I got nothing on a studies So it's like
I can't do that. So but no, I just I like,
in terms of a fun idea, you know, take a
class because my certified farm's instructor start teaching. That's the
gift that you turn around and give to everybody as
you teach people to shoot the other thing you get.
Just a side note is you generally qualify for insurance
(17:15):
when you are a certified fireman instructor, so you are
covered when you're teaching people to shoot.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Oh that's a little knowledge I didn't have.
Speaker 4 (17:25):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, because like whether it's through NRA
or U SCCA, they have in church programs that cover
the instructors.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Wow, that that alone would be great because I teach
people anyway, I just don't have any certification in it.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
Right, So you get that. Now you've got coverage. So
something to look into.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
Oh, because anytime I've had rainjacks, I've just hit the
bodies and I've kind of avoided it that way.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
You know. That's why that's why you bought that back home?
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Now, boy, could I use that or a bobcat? Yeah,
I want to modify the range.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
And you you've been to our neighborhood here, it's like, okay,
I am the only guy who doesn't have a tractor
or a backco and everybody says, don't worry about because
all you have to do is like get on your
text message and say hey, I need and before you
know it, there's the sound of all these machines headed
your way everybody else has got one. Neighbors got two tractors.
One guy's got a tractor or abacco. One guy's got
(18:19):
a tractor with a bacco, and he's got a bobcatch
a skid steer, like you know, whatever you need, it's
all there. It's kind of like, oh, I bet yeah.
And they're looking for an excuse to use this exactly exactly,
said oh man, I hope the snows. I get this. Well,
I did that last year. I bought the biggest Honda
(18:42):
snowblower they make. It is a big mammagemmand. And I
don't know why. I just like more power. Right, sure,
you know it's the Benford five thousand. Some will get
that reference.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
Oh yeah, A good show, great show. Actually that's another
Detroit boy. Oh that's right now, it's a Detroit felon. Actually,
speaking of how are your Detroit Lions doing? Speaking of felons,
how am I lying they are? I was well, I
was going to tell you they were eight and one
because I wasn't checking the score during gun talk, but
(19:19):
i'd be lying to you they are now nine and one.
They won fifty two to six. I think over Jacksonville today.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Wow, yeah, they're.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
Just and I'm not going to get too stoked because
I've been a fan since early sixties. That little boy.
Speaker 4 (19:32):
They've let you down before.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Yeah, and it's always, you know, they put out a
hint of well we might be good this year, and
they win two or three games and get hammered. But man,
they're nine and one now and they're I mean, all
the sports shows and stuff are talking well, if we
were had a pick today, it would be the Lions
and the Chiefs. I'm like, okay, I'm just not going
to get too excited. I'm going to keep you know,
being dismal. Debbie. Yeah, and if they if they win
(19:54):
it all, then I just got him. Glad I'm wrong.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
Well, there you go. All right, let's see any other
gift ideas well. For yourself. If you don't have a revolver,
it's time. If you're listening to this show and you
got guns and you don't own a revolver, it's time
to do that. Finally do that thing. Because you think
(20:18):
I don't know, it's those old fashion that's yeah, trust me,
it's just one of those. This really is one of those.
Just trust me, you're gonna have so much fun.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
Yeah, well this look at guys with classic cars, they
like them better than new ones anyway. And now you
can get I mean there used to be Smith and
Wesson Ruger, right, I mean was your main choices. But
now I mean there's some some more quality of the
place that's affordable. I mean, Taurus has got some revolvers.
Oh yeah, kick butt and they're you know, two fifty
three bucks and not a lot of.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
Let me tell you, a twenty two rim fire revolver
is just pure fun. They're just hoot and the half
I've ever shot one of them, Oh man, that's great fun,
you know. And obviously if you get a three fifty
seven you can shoot thirty eight special in it kind
of thing. But really, a twinter rim fire revolver is
just lots of fun.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
Just twenty two rim fire revolver with a four foot
suppressor on the front of it and a brick amand
though yeah, kind of looks like a rifle at that point.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Merry Christmas, Thanks, thanks life coach. Well, speaking of Merry Christmas,
it's getting real white christmas y out here. And I
put my battery on charge during one of the commercial breaks,
so it's ready to go from my little bitty electric
powered blower snowblower, and then if it gets worse, I'll
(21:36):
creak out the haunted. And if it gets worse than that,
then Brad comes with a skid skier, a steer. If
it's monster snowblower on it.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
It's if it gets worse than you call your neighbors.
That's great.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
Oh yeah, that's right. They'll all show up with their
snowblowers because like, oh an, excuse me, here's my thing here.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
You know, it's great, and you know they never never
do their property. Only it's like you suit up, you
go through all that, you're gonna be out there a
few hours.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
Well, yeah, you gotta go to your neighbors. You gotta
do this. And I mean it's like we got something.
I said, Well, you know, I see that you still
got snow in front of the mailboxes down by the
main road. I went ahead and plowed that for you too. Cool.
That'll work.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
I'm glad you did, because it would have melted before
I ever got to it.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
Yeah, no, kid, you know, be April or May there
you go. All right, well you have yourself a good week,
my friend.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
All right, we will chat soon and Uh, I like
your ideas. I'm going to look into the sniff around
about that in insurance thing is the main sewing point.
Speaker 4 (22:29):
Yeah, yeah, take a look at that. That's kind of
a bonus. We never talk about, but it just occurred
to me. I said, I need to mention that.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
Let me let me know what you find out.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Okay, all right, buddy, go, do you have good week
to be safe by.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
We'll catch you next time for the gun talk after show.
