Speaker 2 (02:13):
Or I just like, get like a piggyback.
Speaker 7 (02:15):
Yeah, we can try that.
Speaker 5 (02:17):
That probably is hard to get a backpack, but we
could give her a shot.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Carry on just to carry on herself. Yeah, put a
handle on her yeah, carry on. It has legs.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
Yeah, it walks itself. Put a tag with your address.
Speaker 7 (02:31):
Yeah yeah, and then you're done.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Good to go, and I'll lay in the overhead bin.
Speaker 7 (02:35):
Shush up, carry on, carry.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Oh, that will be the problem. I probably won't be quiet.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
He's not gonna fit again beneath your seat. And why
does your carry on keep ordering drinks?
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah, that's the other thing I was gonna say. And
this carry on will.
Speaker 7 (02:48):
Drink yeah, uh, never mind. Imitation revoked.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Yeah, you know what, it was worth a shot.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
I don't know if you'd want to go. This is
it could be mayhem. This is a buddy, my buddy Benny.
He's he a p one. He's probably listening right now.
It's his fiftieth birthday party. And there's like fifteen or
twenty of us going down there. One house you're in
a gold right.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
One house for that must be a mansion.
Speaker 7 (03:15):
It's not a tiny place, so you're gonna.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Have to send a picture of it.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
It's pretty nice. And yes, we're going to golf, a
couple of days of golf. They're golf in three days.
I'm coming back Saturday. I'm missing one day of the festivities,
but I figured after two days my check liver light
will be blinking, my body will be sore from golf
and not recuperating afterwards, the opposite of recuperating afterwards.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Probably, So when you land then today to forty okay, perfect,
you just hit that, you know, you know, you know,
right before sunset you're settled into the place and you're
off and running.
Speaker 7 (03:51):
Uh huh cool.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
And when I say running, I mean drinking. Yes, yes, sprinting.
And you're going on a.
Speaker 9 (03:56):
Perfect Bucky weekend too, because it looks like it's gonna
be seventy degrees is like your prime temperature next week
is gonna be eighty.
Speaker 7 (04:02):
So yeah, picture.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Perfect, friend, be perfect.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
I talked to another friend of mine that Ken that
lives down there, and he's like, yeah, it's little chilli,
you might. I'm like, eye, I have shorts and T shirts.
I do I have a jacket? I wear one here?
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Wait?
Speaker 3 (04:18):
I mean you have shorts on in a day like today. Yeah,
well you have Washington for good. I have pants on today.
But the convertibles if he knows that, convertibles. So I'm
wearing these for now and then I'll and then on
the plane riders zip them.
Speaker 7 (04:33):
Pant legs come off.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Wow, strings go on nice.
Speaker 7 (04:36):
And the party begins, and then it's on I.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Got to coats to work yesterday. Meanwhile, Bucky wears shorts.
Speaker 10 (04:41):
Shorts.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Based on that description of Bucky's outfit for the weekend,
I'll say it again, Happy birthday, Benny.
Speaker 7 (04:49):
Happy, you are welcome.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
We're sending Bucky he's your present.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
All right, Well, Ashley and I will stick it out
for all four hours. We don't have some exotic trip
planned afterwards, and so we'll take it till ten o'clock today.
And it is a hump day, and this is usually
when we start sinking our teeth into the seahawks next opponent.
We certainly have touched upon the Atlanta Falcons so far
this week, but today we start to really crystallize our
(05:17):
thoughts on this matchup. I don't even know what we
did this. We did we even play this past weekend.
We didn't shut anybody out, did we?
Speaker 7 (05:23):
I think we did? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Oh yeah, we mostly shut out. That doesn't happen in
the NFL very often.
Speaker 7 (05:29):
Usually we must have a pretty decent defense.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
I would damn I've already moved on from it. Otherwise
maybe I would have known that. But the Hawks getting
ready to take on the Atlanta Falcons, and we did
mention this yesterday. It is the last of the games
that you absolutely should win, even though it's on the
road and without a problem. And then things, you know,
the rest of the way get a little tougher. Certainly
(05:52):
certainly get tougher, and maybe you would even argue tough
down the stretch for the Hawks, and so take advantage
of this. You don't want to slip up here. I mean,
not only the Atlanta Falcons look bad in the standings
with their now what four and nine record that they
have this year, but they also are playing their worst
(06:15):
football right now, and it almost feels like they're absolutely
just playing out the string.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
I mean, they lost to the Jets last week.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
They've lost six out of seven since beating the Buffalo Bills,
and people were wondering if Michael Pennix and the Falcons
were getting ready to take their next step, if finally,
if it was coming together for a team that a
lot of people, especially fantasy football players, have been thinking
should be better than what they've been the last couple
of years, and instead they started playing poorly. Then Michael
(06:43):
Pennix Junior gets injured. He is out for the season.
Kirk Cousin steps in, and they have been as bad
as any team in the National Football League. And I
mean that they have been as bad as any team
out there here in the last two three weeks of
the NFL regular season. And so this is one that
the Seahawks just it's just put it under the you
(07:04):
gotta take care.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
Of business here category. Yeah, there's no other way to
put it. I mean, if you don't find a way,
even though it's on the road. Now, the nice thing
is that the Seahawks have played well on the road
under Mike McDonald, So I'm going to put that as
kind of a moot point. But if you can't go
on the road and beat a team that is significantly
less then and playing for significantly less than you are, yeah,
(07:25):
then it would bring up a bunch of questions. Anything
can happen any given Sunday. There's a reason everybody says that,
and there's some truth to it. You don't you can't
go out there and think that there's got to be
some guys that on the other side that are going
to be playing like their career depends on it. But
at the same time, when you're in the middle of
a season, you'd get smacked in the mouth. It gets
tougher and tougher to get up when there's nothing really
(07:48):
to get up for other than just to play out
the rest of that game, and then you hope to
recoup and get off to a good start the next game.
So to me, it's start off the way that we've
seen the Seahawks do it with stifling defense and the
offense's going out there and putting up some points. And
I have a feeling this team if they not roll
over necessarily, But I think you could impose your will
and make a statement well, and I.
Speaker 9 (08:09):
Think too you if you look at what was two
weeks ago with the Titans, I think that they would
say that second half wasn't great. And I don't think
that we'd see that again because I think obviously the
Atlanta is a better team than the Titans are. I
would assume that they're I'm not sure that they might
not be anymore. But you still you can't you let
your foot off the gas. You can't do what you
did against the Titans again. And I hope that they
(08:31):
learned their lesson. I think they did well.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
I mean, it's a completely opposite quarterback matchup. You went
from Max Brosmer making his first professional start ever to
Kirk Cousins, who's made a million of them. And yet
I'm not sure this isn't an even more advantageous matchup
for Mike McDonald's defense.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
I don't remember.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
And Kirk Cousins has had a heck of a career
and he seems like a heck of a guy, and
he has gotten by with his you know, by being
said sly and coy and you know, and he's overcome
the odds. I think Hugh Millon said at numerous times
he's probably the least physically gifted quarterback in the National
Football League. And yet look at the career, look at
(09:11):
the touchdown passes he's thrown, look at the yardage that
he's racked up. But it is I can't remember the
last time. I guess you got to go back to
before he was a Falcon that he didn't look shaky
on a football field. And I mean, like I'm not
talking about for a game. I'm talking about like every
single pass like he has looked like he is he's
(09:32):
just not reading things the way that he once did.
And maybe that is that he just you know, they
say that, like Eddie George, for example, was a phenomenal
running back, but they always said about him, he doesn't
have a step to lose, And when he lost his step,
he was done. He went from MVP candidate to he
(09:53):
can't play anymore as soon as he.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Lost that step.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
And I'm and I kind of think that's what happened
with Kirk Cousins. When he got to Atlanta, he was
coming off that injury, he missed an entire season. They
obviously put him in the starting lineup despite taking Michael
Pennix Junior in the first round of the draft, and
he looked like he had never played football before for
practically an entire season. And so I don't know if
(10:16):
Kirk Cousins really has it anymore. He can't he's not mobile.
Whatever arm strength he had that allowed him to be
successful in the National Football League, I think he's lost
a step. So even though he's got gile and moxie
and knowledge and know how and that certainly is a
weapon at the quarterback position in the National Football League,
(10:36):
the way Mike McDonald's defense has been just terrorizing fools
here as of late, I'm not sure Kirk Cousins fares
any better than Max.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
Brozmer this weekend, I wouldn't be surprised.
Speaker 11 (10:48):
You're right.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
I think that there's negatives on both sides of it. Inexperience,
our zero experience or so much experience that you maybe
have hit that ball. And you're right, before that injury,
before he went into it, he was doing some pretty
good stuff. He was kind of jumping around right Washington.
In Minnesota, he was he was the guy that jumped
around a bunch, but kind of was You would look
(11:10):
up at the end of the year and like, it's
having a pretty good year. Now that hasn't been the
case since he's been in Atlanta and obviously lost his
job to Michael Pennix. I mean, I just there's still
this something in the brain that makes me think you
don't sleep on it. Because they got a good running
back in Bejon Robinson, Drake London is possibly going to
be back this weekend.
Speaker 7 (11:31):
They got Kyle Pitts. Now, I can on the.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
Other side of the argument, I can say, well, you know,
Drake London is not justin Jefferson and look what he
did last week against this defense, or you know, I mean,
I could sit there and say, you know, TJ. Hawkinson
could be just as good as Kyle Pitts, if not better,
So maybe that he'll be a non.
Speaker 7 (11:48):
Issue as well.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
It just would be one where you you know, I'm
sure Mike McDonald's saying, we got to go out and
still take care of business. If you take care of
business and get Kirk Cousins rattled a little bit, I
do think that unlike a lot lot of veteran quarterbacks,
he is very He's very susceptible to be rattled if
things start to go awry.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
And I know there are a lot of Husky fans
that obviously are Seahawk fans that on one hand kind
of glad that we're not facing Michael Pennix Junior and
on the other hand, disappointed because that means Michael's hurt
and maybe his career has hit a little bit of a.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Speed bump here going forward.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
We've talked about this before, it seems like a good
time to talk about it again. I think they just
really did this young man of disservice in the National
Football League. He's shown flashes of oh wow, that looks special,
just as you know, just as we thought that he would,
but he's not been as consistent. And you brought this
up a couple of weeks ago, those stories that were
(12:46):
leaking out about he was asked like, who do you
turn to when you're struggling offensively, goes no one.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
There isn't anybody.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
I mean, how do you not have a quarterback coach,
offensive coordinator that's not in the ear of Michael Pennick junior,
first full year, starting season in the National Football League
every single time he comes off the field, and he's
stating publicly, Raheem Morris didn't hire a guy like that here.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
I mean, how does that happen.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
In the year twenty twenty five in the National Football League. Now,
maybe he's exaggerating that. Maybe Raheem Morris would have a
different story to tell. Maybe Michael Pennocks Junior, because I
know they have an offensive coordinator and I know they
have a quarterbacks coach there, maybe they would. Maybe they
were offended, maybe they're angry to this day that Michael
(13:33):
Pennocks Junior dared say that because they're constantly in his ear.
But for a starting quarterback to make that statement seem
just illogical, and a lot of people had their difficulty
wrapping their head around it. I don't think Raheem Morris
is going to make it through this season. And I
think it's just malpracticed that the Atlanta Falcons, who have
(13:55):
invested so much money and so much draft capital in
skill position apparently super talents like top ten picks for
a wide receiver and a running back and a quarterback,
and don't have an offensive guru on hand that is
maximizing the abilities. It's as if, no, we're gonna go,
(14:18):
we'll score because of all that draft talent we drafted,
and then let's make sure we stop people on defense.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
That's the focus of our No, no, no, no.
Speaker 3 (14:26):
You have to maximize what you invested in, and I
don't think the Atlanta Falcons have done. Not only have
they not done a good job, they have done as
piss pour a job of it as you could even fathom.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
Yeah, I mean, the idea of making all the draft
picks that they did, Kyle Pitts's was up there as
far as draft picks goes. You've spent a lot of
your draft capital and acquiring talent on the offensive side,
and then you basically give the chef that is supposed
to cook with those ingredients. You pick a chef that
(14:57):
doesn't that's not the meals that he cooks. Yeah, he
doesn't make a whole lot of more.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
We have drafted you a lot of steak here, Rahim, Oh,
I forgot to tell you.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
I only make fried chickens.
Speaker 7 (15:08):
I'm a vegan.
Speaker 11 (15:08):
Yah.
Speaker 5 (15:09):
Yeah, what's that steak? Just put that off to the side, don't.
It'll cook itself. I think that there's something to that.
I will also say that there's something to you. You
have got to be able to be coached by everyone
that you come across, and that doesn't that's not just coaches,
that's your teammates, that's people that were there before, that's
(15:30):
the alumni that you walk past in the rooms.
Speaker 7 (15:34):
You got to be able to absorb it.
Speaker 8 (15:35):
Now.
Speaker 5 (15:35):
I think that Michael Pennix was able to do that
and is able to do that. We watched him basically
move from Indiana to here to you know, and then
onto the NFL, and he obviously was able to pick
up new stuff from new coaches once he got here.
We witnessed that. So I don't think that he's uncoachable
mating stretch. I would say that, yes, there's some to that.
And there's also some to he's you know, his first
(15:57):
full season, he was maybe making some mistakes that you know,
other rookie quarterbacks would make as well, and then unfortunately
got hurt to where now you're not getting to see
what it would look like for him to go through
the growth and figure out from the coaches and just
what he would do on his own as far as
what type of adjustments he would make to his own game.
Speaker 9 (16:15):
I would just picture though, Yeah, every time he comes
off the field, like what you're saying, there's somebody that's
sitting with him on the bench looking at their little
Microsoft surface figuring out whether it was good or bad
that drive, looking through Okay.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
This is what you did, Well, this is what you didn't.
Oh look, did you see this? Did you see that?
Speaker 9 (16:30):
Just because that's you know, everything moves so quickly, So
help him to expand on everything because that you, as
you said, you've invested so much.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
I don't know why they wouldn't do that. And maybe
it's a shot at kirk Cousins, going back to the maybe.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
I mean, kirk Cousin's been described as like the greatest
teammate and the greatest dude in the National Football League
the last few years. But there's no doubt he was hurt. Yeah,
I mean, his wife has admitted as much in a
reality television show that he was hurt that he.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Signed this free agent deal with Atlanta and they went.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Immediately out and drafted a quarterback in the first ten
picks of the first NFL draft where he was on campus. Yeah,
and so maybe Kirk Cousins hasn't been a good backup
to Michael Pennick's junior.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
As well, but it has been.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
It is, it is. It has been a rudderless ship,
and that ship has crashed on the shores for the
Atlanta Falcons. And they don't even have a first round
draft pick this year. It goes to the Rams for
goodness sake, Thanks a lot, Falcons. Yeah, but you did so.
It's it's kind of a mess. I mean, a couple
of weeks ago even gave a rise to the thought that,
you know, the way Clint Kubiak and the Seahawks offense
(17:35):
was humming, like is that a marriage? This offseason, do
the Falcons see that. I think They're definitely going to
get rid of Morris after this year. I think they're
definitely going to get an offensive guy to come in
there next year. So is rahem, excuse me, is Clint
Kubiak somebody that would be on the radar of the
Atlanta Falcons as their next head coach. Then again, Clint
(17:57):
Kubiak the last three weeks and the offense hasn't been
as good a here in Seattle, and that's something that
happened to him in New Orleans a year ago as well.
So there's something to read into there also. But we'll
talk about that topic as the week progresses. But the
Atlanta Falcons the matchup and certainly a game that we
(18:19):
need to put a w behind this one and then
get ready for that stretch drive against some quality competition
to see just how high up the rankings the team
can get. All Right, speaking of that, let's go ahead
and find out what is on tap for today's show.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
What's on to?
Speaker 12 (18:39):
What's on to? All Right?
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Seahawks head Atlanta Sunday at ten. Greg bel joins US
at seven o five this morning to discuss the matchup.
On a hump day, Thursday night football will start the
brand new week in the National Football League, and from
fantasy perspective, a very huge week for most people. This
is the last week of the regular season. Dallas at
Detroit tomorrow night is a fun Thursday night matchup. We'll
(19:02):
play some Factor fiction today seven thirty five. I was
going to say it was Ashley's last pick, but that's
not true with Bucky's flying.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Away to the Benny Birthday Bash. So it was Bucky's
last pick.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Yeah, that was Bucky's last pick yesterday, So Ashley I
have a couple more she'll pick today at seven thirty five.
It's college football conference championship week. The championship games will
happen on Friday and Saturday. The big ones will all
happen on Saturday, so we'll certainly spend some time previewing that.
Cam Cleveland's going to join us today at eight o'clock
(19:35):
to recap the huskies regular season as it is now
cemented with an eight and four record. College football playoff
rankings came out last night, the penultimate college football playoff rankings.
Obviously some interesting stuff to pour over there, which we'll
do coming up at six thirty. It is National signing
Day in college football, so time to bring in the
(19:56):
dog man guys or guy in this case, Scott Eckland
will join US today at nine o'clock, we'll talk about
what you Dub has done in their recruiting off season
and what might still get done today on National Signing Day.
Kalani Sataki has told Penn State, I'm staying at BYU
so it can happen. You can like where you are
(20:21):
and then coach your team that you can poured so
much into all the way to the end of the season.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
It's possible. I guess it's possible. You're just saying it's possible.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
College basketball, you Dub host UCLA tonight at eight o'clock.
Kraken and the Oilers will play tomorrow. Al Kiniski joins
US at nine to thirty this morning. And the Winter
Meetings are just four days away, and yes, we will
spend a little bit of time kind of fantasizing about
who we could trade for during Winter Meetings week. But
coming up next on the show, we'll talk about the
latest from the college football playoff rankings selection.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
Sunday is coming up.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
It's Chuck Inbox Sports Radio ninety three point three k RM.
Speaker 12 (21:02):
Come third and fourteen. He's got time.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
He does Chuck it down. Jones get from behind.
Speaker 13 (21:10):
Does Lawrence Darts has another turnover what comes on top
of it. So Marcus Lawrence Tank in his twelfth.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
Year hi As Seahawks coming off a twenty six. Nothing
went over the Minnesota Vikings. But it is a humpday,
and so we put that in our rear view mirror.
It's all about the next opponent, the Atlanta Falcons, a
Sunday at ten o'clock in Atlanta, Georgia. Greg Bell's going
to join us here in about a minute and a
half to discuss all things Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
We do it most every day.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
Right here on Chuck It Back in the Morning Sports
Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. Good Wednesday morning to you.
Let me hit your frost brewed cores, light headlines. Choose
chill man, just choose chill. Thursday Night Football, we'll get
the brand new week of the NFL started, and for
many people out there, the final week of the regular
season and their fantasy leagues as well, which I think
(22:06):
is noteworthy heading into this week. It'll be Dallas at Detroit.
Should be a fun Thursday night matchup to get us started.
College football Conference Championship week. There will be conference championship
games held on Friday night, but all the big boys
are playing on Saturday, and then on Selection Sunday, we
will finally know the twelve team field that will play
(22:27):
on the second ever true college football playoff tournament in
the history of the world. College Football Playoff rankings came
out last night, the penultimate rankings. The most interesting thing
that occurred was probably Alabama jumping Notre Dame to the
ninth spot Notre Dame at the ten spot, and so
that puts Notre Dame firmly on alert. They are on
(22:50):
the bubble, there's no question about that. The college basketball
season continues for the Fighting Sprinkles here in Seattle. UB
will host UCLA, finally a nice Big ten college basketball
rivalry that reminds us of a rivalry. It'll be the
Bruins and the Dogs tonight at eight o'clock. Cracking and
Oilers will play Tomorrow. Al Kiniski will join us on
(23:11):
the show at nine point thirty to discuss that. And
we are four days away from another holiday. The Winter
Meetings start on Sunday, and so get your decorations out
and ready. But joining us now on the program our
Seahawks Insider REGNL.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
With the bell tolls.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
It must be seven o'clock and time for twelfth Man
News with Greg Bell, brought to you by Copola Diamond
Collection Prosecco Chris Sparkling with bright fruit flavors to make
every toast shine Game Day Bubbles only with Copola Diamond Prosecco.
Now with twelfth Man News, here's Greg Bell with Chuck
and Bike.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
All right, well it's humpday and now we really can
put these Atlanta Falcons in our crosshairsday here today. It's
a struggling team right now, you might even argue a
struggling franchise. They do not have their starting quarterback healthy.
So the Seahawks once again we'll get to face a
backup quarterback. But this one's a lot different than last week.
(24:12):
It's Kirk Cousins, who's about one hundred years older than
Max Brosmer, getting the start for the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
And yet, Greg, when I watch Kirk Cousins, I think, man,
are you in trouble? His lack of mobility facing Mike
McDonald's defense, a defense that Kirk Cousins probably hasn't seen before.
(24:32):
I'm not sure we're going to see much different results
than what we saw last week against Max Brosmer tell
me I'm right or wrong about that.
Speaker 8 (24:40):
Well, I'm not sure about that because the one thing
that the Falcons and Kirk Cousins have without Michael Pennix
out for the season injured, they have Bejhon Robinson. And
he's a thousand yard rusher. He's nine hundred and ninety
five yard. He's a top five NFL rusher. In fact,
the Seahawks are going to face two top five NFL
rushers the next two weeks. Jonathan Taylor and the Colts
come in here next week. Taylor push number one in
(25:03):
the NFL and rushing, but Bjon Robinson is what makes
this a different challenge for the Seahawks. They're running game,
and the ability to run means that the entire game
won't be on Cousins in the quarterback like it was
for Brosmer and the Vikings, because the Vikings didn't I
haven't run all year and didn't even barely try to
run against the Seahawks. The Seahawks rushing totals and high
(25:29):
ranking and rush defenses large because teams don't do it.
The Seahawks have played from the front while winning six
of the last seven games. So teams have abandoned the
run early in games, and when they have run, they
haven't been able to do much of it, and so
there aren't a lot of rush attempts against Seattle. That's
going to change Sunday, and he rushed twenty four times
against the Jets.
Speaker 11 (25:48):
Another one hundred and forty two yard day.
Speaker 8 (25:51):
They lost at the end.
Speaker 11 (25:52):
I mean they were winning that game and they gave.
Speaker 8 (25:54):
Up to the Jets in the Meadowlands on Sunday, they
give up ten points in the last one point fifty three.
Speaker 11 (26:00):
That game away. They lost by one against.
Speaker 8 (26:03):
New England when they missed an extra point. They end
up cutting their kicker.
Speaker 11 (26:06):
About that. They've cut two kickers by the way.
Speaker 8 (26:08):
They cut Coup after Week one when he missed a
field goal late in the game, and then they cut
his replacement when he missed the pat against the Patriots,
the ten and two Patriots. So they're un their third
kickers Ingnzalez. There's all kinds of problems. So it starts
with the quarterback not being there. Michael Pennix, But I
wouldn't overlook the Falcons as another shutout candidate because of Robinson.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
Uh yeah, Well they got Robinson and then Drake Lindon
might be back. I have Kyle Pitts. He there's weapons there,
and yet we're watching a dysfunctional offense. So what is
it that besides Beijon Robinson Because typically or so far
during the season, Seattle's been fairly difficult to run against.
If Thet's say they take him away, as they're still
concerns if they don't have an effective run game that
(26:53):
Kirk Cousins and the rest of that offense could put
up enough points.
Speaker 8 (26:58):
Well, there's concerns. I would think that will the Seahawks
score enough points because the Falcons. We'll go on and
on about the Seahawks in their pass rush, and they
have forty sacks and that's fourth in the league and
they're on pace for their second most sacks ever. We're
talking going back to Legion to boom Bays. Yet the
Falcons have more than the Seahawks do. The Falcons have
forty one sacks in twelve games. They blitz a lot,
(27:22):
second most, but we saw the number one blitz team
by plenty, Minnesota come in here and what they did
in the first half tout to Sam Darnold four sacks
the season high in one half. Well, the number two
team in blitz is Atlanta, and they've completely changed their defense.
They've pass rush has been their big problem for years
down there. They've invested high draft picks, they've addressed in
(27:44):
new coaching staff, they've addressed in a brand new approach. And
now that blitz a lot. And we saw what Seattle
had problems with blitzing and then eventually fake blitzing by
Brian Flores and the Vikings last weekend. I think that's
the number one thing for Seattle this week is shoring
up their blitz protection and their blitz pass calls. Cooper
(28:04):
Cup talked about it after the game Sunday. He said, Hey,
if they're gonna blitz, we need to change schematically. And
I thought he was kind of shining a light on
Clint Kubiak when he said, if they're gonna rush from
the edge like that, let's get the quarterback outside. Let's
not run twenty yard routes, but maybe get used to
running three yard routes and turning.
Speaker 11 (28:22):
Your head quickly and the ball arriving quickly.
Speaker 8 (28:25):
That we started to see that later in the second
half after they adjusted and Smith and Jigua was a
primary adjuster.
Speaker 11 (28:31):
To those routes.
Speaker 8 (28:32):
But if they blitz the same effectiveness, they're gonna bring
blitz close to frequency that Minnesota did. But the Falcons
do it as the effectiveness they see twenty yard in
routes by Smith and Jigma because they won't have time
to throw them.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
Greg bellers with us our Seahawks insider, and you can
follow him at Gmail, Seattle and of course Thenewstribune dot com.
I mean, here we said, I mean we nick picked this.
We uh, we pour over it. And I wonder though,
as I'm nitpicking, as we head into December here on
the stretch run of the season, is there a concern
for the Seahawks offense. For Sam Donald, I mean, the
(29:08):
last three games Rams Titans Vikings, he's completing sixty one
percent of his passes versus north of seventy prior to that.
For the season, he's been sacked five times in three games.
Prior to that, he was sacked ten times in nine games.
He's only thrown two touchdown passes here in the last
three weeks versus four interceptions. I mean, we saw Clint
(29:30):
Kubiak's offense in New Orleans a year ago start like
a house of fire and then was terrible in the
second half. So did the Rams or possibly Brian Flores
last week for the Vikings, is there any fear that
maybe they've shown the league the blueprint for how to
slow down Kubiak Donald and the Seahawks offense.
Speaker 8 (29:51):
Well, I would think that these upcoming teams are going
to copy the Vikings blitzing and then fake blitzing a lot.
I would think that the Falcons, well, I know they're
going to do it because they blitzed anyway against everybody,
and then the Colts after it. I don't think the
Rams are going to change anything in what they did
in the first game because he intercept him four times.
(30:13):
But there is concern about the turnovers for sure. And
when he is hit in the pocket, he often loses
the ball. I mean that's a problem because the quarterbacks
number one job is to secure the ball. Of all
the thousands of things that he gets paid millions of
dollars to do, holding onto the ball is number one
(30:33):
and throwing it to the.
Speaker 11 (30:34):
Right guy is number two.
Speaker 8 (30:36):
But when you get hit, you can't lose the ball.
And with this offensive line, you're going to get hit
at times. And when you do hit, go to the
ground and take the loss and have Michael Dixon punt
instead of getting hit, losing the ball in first and
ten at the other plus eighteen that's happened a lot
of times this season. Fifteen turnovers in twelve games, second most.
(30:56):
Only Tungo Viola in Miami with one more has more
in the league. To me, that's the number one concern.
And he can say, wow, my job is to take
care of the ball. Well, what's causing that with the
blitzes and pressures And there was a blindside pressure that
he didn't see and got hit in the back and
lost the ball for a fumble against the Vikings. Those things,
(31:17):
and yes, for eleven games they had only eleven sacks,
fewest in the league. Atlanta's going to do what Minnesota
did blitz But I think.
Speaker 11 (31:25):
Now you're going to see the Colts next.
Speaker 8 (31:27):
Week, and teams down the road perhaps changed their game
plan a little bit more and add some more pressure
to see if Seattle can combat that. We still have
the specter of an offensive line change we talked about
a couple of days ago.
Speaker 11 (31:39):
That won't happen this.
Speaker 8 (31:40):
Week, it appears, but next week if Jensendell does come
back when he could be eligible to come off of IR,
there's a chance that he could be either the new
starting new old starting center or the new starting right guard,
which would change perhaps over with Timmy or Anthony Bradford
at right guard. They're not the Seahawks aren't just thrown
up there and saying, okay, come blitz and we'll try
(32:02):
to figure it out. There could be personnel changes, not
this week, but next in that regard.
Speaker 5 (32:07):
Gee, I think the Falcons play a three to four
a lot like what the Minnesota Vikings do.
Speaker 12 (32:12):
Now.
Speaker 5 (32:12):
I don't know if they have the same you know,
jimmies and Joe's or the x's and those for that matter,
But is there something that you saw last week that
in that formation playing the three four that was part
of what creates the confusion for Sam Donald or just
the offense in general.
Speaker 8 (32:30):
Well, yeah, when you have a three four, then your
pass rushers are more. You have one more linebacker, and
your pass rushers tend to be edge speed guys rather
than defensive line big guys. And you're right, Atlanta runs
a base three four usually and their edge rushers their
speed guys.
Speaker 11 (32:48):
I mean, even the veteran Leonard Floyd is a speed guy.
Speaker 8 (32:53):
That's so, yes, it is somewhat fundamentally different, just because
you have fewer befeeding guys up front. That was a
confusion issue. There were many times in Minnesota game. There
were many times that the Seahawks offensive line were standing
and waiting on defensive linemen to rush, and they didn't rush.
They backed off, and then Anthony Bradford and Abe Lucas
(33:14):
a couple of times would stand and wait and meanwhile,
here comes the steaming inside or outside linebacker to the
opposite side, blitzing in while they were watching linemen stand
in front of him. That's a problem that started. Flora's
game plan was blitz early and then back off and
fake blitz, and then when they did blitz, don't send
everybody drop off the defensive lineman, so you're actually rushing
(33:37):
three or four often but standing and backing.
Speaker 11 (33:40):
Up to the defensive line. It was a.
Speaker 8 (33:43):
Scheme that worked against Seattle. That Atlanta, I'm sure is
going to try and Indian AP's going to try, and
they've got to figure it out. Whether it's get the
ball out quick more quickly runs, shorter routes as Cup
suggested roll the quarterback out. Darnold stood in the pocket
quite against bit against Minnesota, taking those hits and getting
six passes knockdown. Cup made the point of let's roll
(34:03):
outside that pressure and see we can run around it
and not have the throws right into the defensive linemen
and the linebackers are jumping in his face, but offensively. Yes,
we are talking at length today because that's the key,
not just to this game, but the rest of the season.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
Our Shocks insider Greg Bell is with us. And I'm
reading this guy Greg Bell at the Newstribune dot com.
And is he Is he telling me that Mike McDonald
has more tricks up his sleeve in regards to nick
Emon Warri usage.
Speaker 11 (34:33):
Yes, I am.
Speaker 8 (34:35):
How about nick Emon Warry as a defensive end, boy,
that's what he played. I went through a snap by snap.
I just watched Demon Worry Monday, and he lined up
seven times as a defensive end. One time he lined
up inside the tight end and outside the defensive tackle
or offensive tackle as a five technique defensive end. He
(34:55):
was mostly not they call it nine technique when you're
outside the tight end way wide, almost like an outside
line by but he was on the line of scrimmage
at a defensive end seven times out of his fifty snaps,
and McDonald chuckled and said, we just keep giving him
stuff and he keeps doing it. And they never did this,
the Ravens and McDonald never did this with Kyle Hamilton
when they drafted. Of course, even Worry in the second
(35:16):
round traded up seventeen spots to get him in May.
They talked about him being a Kyle Hamilton and do
it everything. Well, he's doing more than Hamilton. The All
Pro as a rookie and his eight games in remember
he missed three games because of the high ankle sprain
he got on the fourth play of the season. He's
only played eight NFL games, and they've got him playing
post safety, nickel safety, outside linebacker sometimes inside linebacker. Next
(35:40):
to Ernest Jones is the only two off linebackers in
the field. They've got him playing outside linebacker, blitzing off
the edge. They got him playing outside linebacker dropping into
the flat, and now they got him playing defensive end.
When you look at the numbers, everyone says, well, Seattle's
got the sub package of ninety two percent there in
sub package, Nicol or dying. It's because of Nick even worry.
But he and they saved all these light box numbers
(36:01):
that these.
Speaker 11 (36:01):
Analytics guys talk about. The Steers don't play a light box.
Speaker 8 (36:04):
They have a two hundred and twenty pounds safety who
comes to the line of scrimmage to play defensive end.
That's their light box. They have a light box in
terms of people see all Nick even wore. He's safety
is on the field now, even while he's playing defensive end.
So it is fascinating to watch McDonald in real time
(36:25):
invent things to do with him. He said, we're making
it up on the fly. When they drafted him, they
said that they had no idea that he could play
defensive end, but they tried it in practice.
Speaker 11 (36:34):
It looked good. They tried it in the game, look great.
Speaker 8 (36:36):
You're going to see it again in Sunday in Atlanta,
and McDonald's were just making it up as we go.
He kind of chuckled that there's nothing this kid can't
do yet. His speed, his power, his awareness, and his
ability to learn and willingness to learn. It's really fun
to watch when I know we all tend to follow
the ball when we watch, specially on television because the
TV narrows it to the ball. But people listening, if
(36:59):
you're at a game, put your binoculars or eyes on
number three and just watch three. It's interesting to watch
him line up in a different place every snap. He
rarely lined up in the same place two snaps and
definitely not three snaps in a row against Minnesota, And
that's a headache for quarterbacks and offensive coordinators and McDonald.
That's half the purpose of doing that is so they
(37:19):
don't know where he's coming from.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
That's fun. Yeah, and you're saying, we got this guy
for a few more years. Huh rookie.
Speaker 8 (37:27):
He's under rookie salary for the next three and a
half years for you.
Speaker 11 (37:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (37:32):
That that that trade and draft pick looks pretty good
right now.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
All right, Greg, awesome stuff. Thank you man.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
We appreciate it, and we'll do the roundtable tomorrow.
Speaker 11 (37:41):
We will happy Wednesday. Thank you.

Hoyah Perfore let's go right to you by Warrior Injury logs,
battles tested.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
Now here's checking bug with a former Husky tight end
on Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
Our last conversation of the season with Cam Cleveland here
this morning.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
He's been with us every single week this year.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
The former Washington tied end and current color analysts there
for a Husky broadcast. He will have a Bowl game
to call coming up soon and we'll know all the
details about that very soon. But for us, a final conversation,
and unfortunately he's got to hear Bucky Jacobson talk crap
to him.
Speaker 7 (39:24):
I'm not I was going to do that.
Speaker 5 (39:26):
I mean I did have to listen to him a
softy try to come at me for an entire hour
last week. But no, just with humility, say it was
a good game. You guys are competitive.
Speaker 12 (39:38):
Well, good morning, guys. I don't need to see.
Speaker 14 (39:41):
We still have a connection here. You have every We're
right to talk a little smack, but the humility of
the professional athlete stands out. A man with a beard
like that deserves a ton of credit and look at him. I,
on the other hand, I would have been an absolute
dirt bag.
Speaker 10 (39:56):
And so I just.
Speaker 5 (39:59):
Well, you played it, it you are, you were part
of it. I mean, that's that is a big part
of where I draw the lot. I'm not going to
sit and talk trash to a husky that's played in
the game. You have legit hate for the Ducks, and
understandably so I don't have.
Speaker 7 (40:13):
That same thing.
Speaker 5 (40:14):
And yet it is nice to be heading. You know,
our season still going.
Speaker 12 (40:19):
Yeah, does it bother you to hear?
Speaker 3 (40:21):
And does it bother you that he gives the old
tap on the head like you guys are competitive, good job.
Speaker 2 (40:26):
Does that bother you?
Speaker 12 (40:27):
Yeah? I mean not really. I mean it doesn't bother me.
Speaker 14 (40:31):
No, because I wish I could change it. But the
fact is is he's right. They were better. They were
better on that day. They we got work to do
is as a program and a group. Uh, the game
was there were there were opportunities in the game. As
I watched it unfold, Uh, you could just see that
(40:52):
that was a team that had been in close games
and knew how to win close games. And we've seen
Husky programs in the past that have been very good
at winning close games and knowing how to out And
that was an Oregon team that's been very battle tested
throughout the season.
Speaker 12 (41:05):
And these aren't compliments, these are facts.
Speaker 14 (41:07):
They've gone on the road to Iowa, Penn State, tough
games at home. Yeah, they lost to the number two
team in the country, but they're gonna get a shot
in this big dance. And you just got to find
a way in that program, find a way to win
the big games in those moments, and they might do it.
Speaker 12 (41:24):
We'll find out for sure.
Speaker 3 (41:25):
Well, let's talk about the big games, because that's obviously
the issue here for Washington football, second year under Jed Fish. Yeah,
you can against mediocre teams light up the scoreboard, but
against good to great teams you have trouble scoring points
at all.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
What explains that?
Speaker 14 (41:44):
Cam, Well, guys man, we could break it down for hours.
We could look at it in film study. I could
break it down by play call. You could go down
inability and let me start with a good can I
can I begin with that and say how much coach
will Alters really adapted and adjusted his defense. And if
(42:05):
I told you going into a game against Oregon who
was rushing.
Speaker 12 (42:08):
For almost two hundred and fifty yards, rather it.
Speaker 14 (42:12):
Was like two forty two per game on average, and
you were going to shut down their running game with
an eighty seven year old running back with Noah Winnington
who's been in college football for eight billion years, and
a lot of other really good running backs, and put
it in in Dante Moore's hands to win it with
his arm. I would have said, sign me up, sign
(42:33):
me up. And he did a great job with that
and made them one dimensional. I mean the running game
was not as strong, and they did a fantastic job.
So that's the excellent side of what this defense was
able to accomplish, not only schematically, but they did it
in big games throughout the entire season, against Michigan, against
Ohio State, and then we flipped to the other side
(42:53):
of the coin and going into this season, the defense
was supposed to be secondary to our offense. Seven points
forty six points and wins nine and a half to
eight and a half points and losses. I've never seen
a dramatic difference between two offensive just outputs in wins
(43:15):
and losses, and so to me that that's a glaring,
glaring thing that has to be of course, the coaches
and everybody knows this. Everybody's we're not stupid here. We
understand you have to score points to win. But this
does come down to the production on the offensive size
offensive side. And I'm gonna be as blatantly honest as
(43:36):
I can. It starts with number two. And if you're
in college football, this isn't blame. This is just where
it starts. Your quarterback to get to the highest level
would be a top ten team that competes in.
Speaker 12 (43:47):
The college football Top twelve. Sorry, your quarterback has to
be great.
Speaker 14 (43:52):
And I have a grading scale, and this has always
been my grading scale since I was started in analytics
or in analyzing displayers. There's bad, good, great, elite. Those
are my four categories. And there's only a couple of
elite guys every year. There's a lot of good guys,
and then you have some, you know, some some really
(44:13):
bad quarterbacks. And so you have to find a way
for to get demand to the next level of where
he needs to be and how he needs to become
a leader offensively, and it's all starts with it. And
that's that's where I think it begins.
Speaker 5 (44:30):
So I mean, where do you have me Obviously obviously
not bad, I would say good. I would say good,
and sometimes plays great. You're wanting him to be great
on a consistent basis and at times maybe rise to elite.
Speaker 14 (44:42):
Yeah, and I think so, And that's that's a These
are goals that everybody sets. And I would put him
as a good quarterback. I had him higher at the
beginning of the year in these moments and I really
saw I saw some plays with his feet that were
absolutely incredible. His next evolution is winning with his arm.
Talent and being more accurate with the football, being more decisive,
(45:06):
finding those windows that are that are easier to throw in.
And that comes with coaching and it comes with development.
And I'm i'm as I'm as critical as any football
player or anybody that watches watches the football game. And
then it starts with the offensive line. You know, as
you saw a guy Adam Muhammad ran the ball, sensational,
(45:26):
he looked fantastic. I'm like, why aren't we giving him
the ball thirty five times?
Speaker 12 (45:32):
What? There were moments where he had to throw the football.
That was part of it.
Speaker 14 (45:35):
But then you wanted to rotate in Jonah Coleman, who
deserved the opportunity to get in that football game. And
that's not my call, that's coaches wanted to change it up.
But Adam was hot. Adams liked and I said it
during the Bride, Adams like the shooter out at the
three point range and he's in the zone. Feed him
the ball he was. He found his windows and it
worked out. We just couldn't get the big play. And
(45:58):
then it was the mistakes, you know, interceptions, the throws
that were in that not being able to convert on
third down, couple penalty situations.
Speaker 12 (46:07):
And then there we are. You're behind eight ball.
Speaker 14 (46:09):
Versus an excellent Oregon defense. I mean, they're as good
as anybody in the country.
Speaker 3 (46:13):
Also, yeah, I was screaming for more Muhammed, I mean
to be running that well. They didn't seem to have
an answer for him. And you have only fourteen carries
at the end of the game where you only score
fourteen points, that seems like a miss. And then another
thing until the Denzel Boston second touchdown. Man, it just
feels like everything against these quality defenses. And there's no
(46:34):
doubt Oregon has a great defense, and they got great
athletes on that side of the ball, they got a
great scheme, but it just feels like everything is a struggle,
and I'm curious why. I mean, I watched Max Brosmer
get shut out by the Seahawks and he still had
moments where there were a few open receivers that he
just had to basically walk the ball to. It just
doesn't feel like in these teams again, in these games
(46:57):
against these great defenses, that there's ever an open receiver
for Demon Williams to throw to. Is he just missing
them or are they not scheming receivers open.
Speaker 14 (47:07):
Yeah, there there's this, you know, a couple of shots.
And this is again, this is just my take of
watching film and watching him play. And I don't sit
in with the staff so that this is there. This
is what Jed loves to run. And he he knows offense,
and that's insane to call him. They know how to
call plays, they know how to design, but you always
(47:29):
call plays. Great play callers call plays for their best athletes.
They I could drop the greatest play ever. I can
say hound six hot z snag, And I can say
I want to throw to the seven route and my
seventh route guy runs a five to two and.
Speaker 12 (47:43):
Be like, well it should work. No, it's not. He
can't run. I can't throw to that guy. I have
to design a play.
Speaker 14 (47:50):
So what you saw during a lot of games in
situations is you've designed it, designed flood concepts. You brought
three receivers to one side, and defenses started understand, Okay,
we can put pressure on demand with just four. So
that means we now have seven. So if you saw
during the Oregon game they had a spy number thirty one,
(48:12):
and I'm forgetting his name, Rick, but yes, thank you
Cieneman or whatever it was.
Speaker 12 (48:18):
He was excellent in the game.
Speaker 14 (48:20):
His total job throughout the entire football game was to
shadow Demond.
Speaker 12 (48:25):
So they played a four to six' one.
Speaker 14 (48:28):
Zone, defense if that makes, sense for rush one, free
which Was demond's, shadow and then another six over the
top and. Underneath that was a great design and that
you know who set that precedent on. Us this, Year
Ohio state did the exact same thing once that got on. Film,
guys this is a copycat. League but once you put
(48:49):
something on, film it's a weakness teams will exploit That
michigan did. It they dropped into a deep shell The
wisconsin games and anominally it was a garbage game of
cold weather and bad stuff and injuries that one didn't make,
Sense but in these big moments they found a way
to be very strategic on defense to shadow them. On
(49:12):
and then you'll watch another thing that he. Does he
likes to hang in the pocket And Coach fish said
this after the game WHEN i asked, HIM i, said
you look like you gave him some more time.
Speaker 11 (49:21):
To be in The.
Speaker 14 (49:21):
POCKETSY i wanted him to adjust and win there and
he got used to. That but he's bouncing in, there he's. Bouncing,
well he took sack on the first play the. Game you, bounce, bounce,
bounce that ball has to be out in the second,
bounce and if it's, not then he's got to get.
Speaker 12 (49:38):
Out and now you have a.
Speaker 14 (49:39):
Shadow so there's lots of lots of things to work off,
of but there are certainly things.
Speaker 12 (49:45):
That maybe as they evolve and, design how.
Speaker 14 (49:48):
Do you bring his offensive talent and really elevate his
offensive talent to the next level with the throwing game
and the passing game that he can you, know he
got to get better in that, Scenario.
Speaker 5 (50:02):
Cam THE i took my son to the, game SO
i didn't get to you, know when you're at the, Game,
uh it's harder to kind of notice some. THINGS i,
mean you've got a bird's eye view and you're doing your,
job but you're sitting down in the stands and you,
know having a couple of beers with my with my,
kid well he didn't have, any but he's only eight
yet he's More, yeah he.
Speaker 12 (50:20):
Was he was more hard on.
Speaker 5 (50:21):
Alcohol to, Want, yeah exactly like you, know dabbling in
that hard. Stuff, no it's just it's harder to kind
of watch from WHERE i was. Sitting, ANYWAYS i have
a lot of. FRIENDS i heard a lot of people
in the stands uh being really critical Of jed and
his play. Calling they don't is there things that you
(50:42):
wish it they would do? DIFFERENT i mean we've talked
about different players and maybe Getting Jordan washington in the
ball or Feeding muhammed Doing but as far as his
play calling are you are you seeing things that you
want him to continue to adjust to do or maybe
somebody else come in to call the plays?
Speaker 12 (50:57):
AGAIN i.
Speaker 14 (50:57):
Don't there's no way you're going to get me to
stand up here instead at this spot and criticize play calling,
because As i'll go, back every play works if it's
designed to go to your best. Athletes athletes have to.
EXECUTE i call a play and then there's execution. Situations
(51:17):
Adam muhammad was executing, physically if THAT i hope that makes.
Speaker 12 (51:21):
Sense like he had.
Speaker 14 (51:22):
A vision of where to, go his feel the offensive
line was going. Downhill the execution side on some of
the other designs. Wasn't guys weren't getting open certain situations
wasn't There and remember he doesn't have a. COLLEGE i,
mean there's two. Kinds, well there's multiple kinds of. Offense
but there's AN nfl offense and then there's college.
Speaker 12 (51:44):
Offense those are.
Speaker 14 (51:46):
Two jed has a combination of, both like he's got
an UNBELIEVABLE nfl background of those types of schemes combined
with college.
Speaker 12 (51:54):
Offense college offenses.
Speaker 14 (51:57):
True college offenses Are Ohio, state they Are, michigan some
of The.
Speaker 12 (52:02):
Iohua these are rpo.
Speaker 14 (52:05):
Games one side reads Quick oregan, ABSOLUTELY i, mean and
that coach is going to go To kentucky and take
over and take that same. Style that's a very popular
style of offense because it's easy to coach and gives
simple reads and gives multiple, options and you spread the
field with. Space kalin De bord does not call a college,
offense never. Did, okay it's very. Different you watch the
(52:28):
Way Lincoln riley, calls spreads the, field athletic quarterback in
space running college. Offense so play calls are specific to
who you are in YOUR. Dna he learned Under Steve,
spurrier who was an incredible play.
Speaker 12 (52:42):
Caller in AN nfl offense.
Speaker 14 (52:44):
Style so could there be different, things, Sure BUT i
think when a game isn't working and your quarterback's not finding.
Rhythm it's really hard on a play. Caller it's extremely
hard to. Try it's, like where do you go down the? List,
OKAY i, tried all, right let's try. It, well that
didn't work. Either let's try, this and you're trying to
find a rhythm as a caller during the same. Time
(53:07):
and he got about thirty five seconds to make the.
Speaker 12 (53:10):
Decision and it's not, easy, boys it.
Speaker 3 (53:11):
Isn't Cam cleveland is with us a segment with us
all season, long brought to you By Warrior Injury Law Battle. Tested,
well that's a big picture of this thing at the
end of this conversation and at the end of this,
season BECAUSE i think back to the beginning of last.
YEAR i think it was a free pass For jedfish
in his first, year AND i agree with. That and
(53:32):
to get to six and, SIX i Think oski fans are, Like,
OKAY i would have liked, better BUT i can live
with that, result considering everything that he had to do
and replace After kaylin De bor left and then into
the second, year felt, like, well we got to see.
Speaker 2 (53:47):
Improvement there's no.
Speaker 3 (53:48):
Quad we got to be improvement and competitive in every single,
game and here you are eight and four to close
out the, season certainly competitive Against, oregon certainly competitive Against Ohio,
state and it just kind of feels cam, like all,
right you did. It you achieved like the, minimum but you,
(54:09):
know certainly would have liked to have seen a little bit more.
Progress but you did achieve what we hoped you would achieve.
Technically so that being, said two years into, this how
are we feeling about how The jedfish program is?
Speaker 7 (54:24):
Going?
Speaker 14 (54:25):
Well i'm on the ultra positive, Side, OKAY i MEAN
i have to. BE i just looked across college you
how many guys lost their Job Michigan, State.
Speaker 12 (54:34):
OREGON i can go right down WITH.
Speaker 14 (54:35):
Ucla we could be we could Be Penna. State you
could Be Virginia. Tech well they found a new.
Speaker 11 (54:40):
Guy you could Be.
Speaker 14 (54:41):
Florida you could Be Ole myths and lose your guy
before you even go win a national.
Speaker 12 (54:45):
Championship and here you.
Speaker 14 (54:46):
Are you took over a program that lost Fifty you
had to replace fifty.
Speaker 12 (54:49):
Four guys last.
Speaker 14 (54:51):
Year, yeah he replayed fifty four to, one six, games
lost in a bowl, game almost won that game with one.
Speaker 12 (54:56):
Throw you go eight and four, yeo toe to toe
with the number one team.
Speaker 14 (54:59):
In the country to the third, quarter you go on the,
road you lose one bad football, game and That's wisconsin
because that that game is that that'll haunt him a little.
Bit but eight wins guys in The Big ten conference
and you're gonna play in a bowl. Game considering in
two years and now you're a top fifteen signing. Class
and congratulations all the young guys today that are that
(55:19):
are that are joining and signing. Early uh do you
have a? Collective you have nil, money you have facilities
or as good as anybody in the. Country, YEAH I
I i'm a realist, dude that these are these are
good positive.
Speaker 12 (55:35):
Things the longer we can keep stability and the continuity
of coaching is the reason why you. Win, okay when you.
Speaker 14 (55:43):
They're, IOWA i Mean, Utah, oregon For GOP's, sakes coaches that.
STAY i Mean Lane kevin took six years to build
something and he finally builds it and then he takes.
OFF i can't hate on, that but it takes.
Speaker 12 (55:57):
Time.
Speaker 14 (55:58):
Uh, shoot you could be cow And Justin wilcox gets Fired.
Stanford every one of these programs that are in, downtrodden
they have to start over from, scratch complete. Scratch Kurt signetti.
Flipped he flipped the. Script but, also, remember, guys is
that every time these coaches come from other coaches like
The mac just getting poached in all the conference IN,
(56:20):
usas and they're taking their rosters with. Them Jim mora
when he goes To Colorado state is bringing twenty some
guys with him From yukon and signing every one of
his guys to join him At. Colorado they leave with their. Rosters,
Now jed Brought arizona roster with.
Speaker 12 (56:37):
Him so this is what college football has.
Speaker 14 (56:40):
Done SO i like the fact that we have stability right,
now And i'm hoping that it stays stable for a.
Speaker 3 (56:48):
While all, well thank you for the. Season it's been
awesome having you on this. Year great analysis all season.
Long it Is National Signing. Day let's close with A
Cam cleveland. Story let's take us back to eighteen year
old Old Cam clear making that big decision to sign
with The. Dogs probably had a mullet back. Then probably
how did?
Speaker 12 (57:07):
You how did? You how did you know little curly one.
Speaker 10 (57:12):

Speaker 14 (57:12):
Depths, no no natural basketball. Season it was basketball. SEASON

Speaker 5 (59:28):
Longer any woe want To. Benny benny wouldn't want this
to be his last. Birthday oh it would.
Speaker 11 (59:36):
Be.
Speaker 5 (59:38):
Yeah got a, TRACTOR i can dig, holes but. Anyway,
no it's it's gonna be. Fun i'm looking forward to.
It but she said just be, careful be. Careful, yeah
AND i know what she meant by.
Speaker 7 (59:49):
THAT i will. BE i can't say that about.
Speaker 2 (59:52):
Everybody smart is at least like mostly.
Speaker 9 (59:54):
Smart if you're looking at a, percentage be like ninety
percent smart and you can have like ten percent.
Speaker 2 (59:58):
Stupidity, YEAH i think you.
Speaker 3 (59:59):
Go, yeah nine point nine. Fun, yeah you know you
just got to be seven point five.
Speaker 2 (01:00:04):
Smart.
Speaker 5 (01:00:05):
Yeah, luckily my Boy pooky's going to be there. Too
he AND i we keep, it keep every the group
Of ninko and, poops we keep them kind of under
control a little.
Speaker 3 (01:00:15):
Bit we've done this before For benny's bachelor. Party pooky
And benny And. Benny you're making fun of the people
THAT i grew up. With their Names, Pooky, Bucky, Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:00:25):
Bucky he's actually his Name's. Paul BUT i don't think
i've ever called.
Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
ON i think you have a nickname for all your, Friends,
DUKE i, Do, yeah, exactly all, right great one.
Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
Nicknames, okay so here's my recommendation for your get. Together
everybody has their nickname name.
Speaker 7 (01:00:44):
Tag they got to wear it through the entire.
Speaker 11 (01:00:45):
Weekend all, right.
Speaker 3 (01:00:46):
So even when you, GO i don't have a nickname, Though, Bucky,
yeah that's you have. One they just haven't told you
because you have a tractor and you'll dig.
Speaker 8 (01:00:54):
Hole y.
Speaker 9 (01:00:56):
It, works that's like it works like in a baseball locker.
Room you don't need a nickname because of your last
name in.
Speaker 7 (01:01:01):
The why YEAH i do.
Speaker 2 (01:01:04):
That you could Be Bookie yeickerson Book, sure.
Speaker 3 (01:01:10):
That's all, right that's all.
Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
Right, so, Yeah bucky is going till nine o'clock today
and then we won't see him.
Speaker 7 (01:01:15):
AGAIN i don't know If i'll make it that.
Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
Long, yeah well we'll. See he tuned out at.
Speaker 3 (01:01:18):
Seven seahawks offensive line certainly at its worst week of
the season this past, week worst, job and it wasn't
even a question of Protecting Sam donald against The Minnesota.
Vikings maybe we can give credit To Brian flores and
we don't necessarily have to blame The seahawks offensive line
Because flores did to seem to have a great. Plan but,
(01:01:39):
nonetheless whatever's going, on some alarm bells were sent off
Because Sam donald hast to have some time to throw
when you can only GET js and the. BALL a
couple of times in a game you don't have enough
time to throw uh and that cannot continue going Into
atlanta and. Beyond and so With Jalen, SUNDEL i mean
he can come off THE. Ir we haven't, heard at
(01:02:02):
LEAST i haven't. Heard maybe there's some information out there
THAT i. MISSED i haven't heard that he's going to
be activated just because he's. Eligible but obviously once he becomes,
eligible you start thinking about getting him back into the.
Lineup he was the starting center for all those great weeks.
Speaker 11 (01:02:18):
With sam.
Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
And now that he's coming, back it makes you wonder
who's struggling more? Upfront is that Olaa timmy at? Center
and is or is It Anthony bradford at right? Guard
and Will Jalen sndell come back to start at guard
and not? Center we Asked greg about that.
Speaker 8 (01:02:38):
Yesterday, well it's interesting Because, sundell if you, remember during.
Speaker 11 (01:02:43):
Training, camp was one of the three competitors for the
right guard.
Speaker 8 (01:02:48):
Job it Was Christian haynes who actually started training camp
as the, starter and then it Was Anthony bradford and
they Had sundell then Directed looking twenty twenty, four who
did some.
Speaker 11 (01:02:57):
Guard work and practices.
Speaker 8 (01:02:58):
Last Year sundell ended up proving to be so good
at center that he beat Out ola With timmy and
took that. Job, well now he's been on ir olal
With timmy is at, center and if you take McDonald
as his, word he really likes How Ola timmy's played
in the two games three games Since sundell went out
with a knee, injury which makes the, question now do
(01:03:20):
you keep some ol With timmy where he's been. Good
sundell is eligible to come off of injured reserve this
time next. Week the fourth consecutive game he'll miss is
The atlanta game this. Weekend AND i asked yesterday McDonald
Of sundell how he's progressing toward potentially practicing next.
Speaker 11 (01:03:38):
Week he says he's doing really.
Speaker 8 (01:03:39):
Well AND i, said is he going to come back
to be a guard or a? Center and he, said
we're still working through what the lineup is going to
look like when he comes, back which is a really
telling statement to. ME i think they're thinking about putting
him at guards and Having sundell play right guard next
To oval With timmy to not disturb What Oli timmy's
done the center of the offensive. Line so competition on
(01:04:03):
the horizon perhaps For Anthony. Bradford, now as you said,
yesterday McDonald said that he Thought bradford played a pretty good.
Game he said there were some good plays and some
not so good. Plays but when he was asked about
fans especially Criticizing bradford for standing around and look like
he's waiting on a bus and some pass protection, snaps he,
SAID i think he's played pretty. Well so we'll, see
(01:04:28):
but there is going to be competition somewhere Because sindel's
not going to come, back and said he's either going
to play, center he's going to play. Guard WHAT i
saw in training, Camp, GUYS i think the best line right,
NOW i Think sandell's a better center than old With.
Timmy but if they're good With olal With timmy at,
CENTER i think their best line would Be Old timey
at center And sindel at right.
Speaker 3 (01:04:47):
Guard greg mel with say yesterday talking about the offensive,
LINE i would, SAY i don't know how much you
can take a head coach at his word at any.
LEVEL i, mean because he also did say that he's
been pleased with the Way Anthony bradford's, playing even though
the entire fan base seems to be upset with.
Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
It he's also said that after the.
Speaker 3 (01:05:09):
Game the other, day and then even with a little
bit of time to talk to think about, it he
said it earlier this. Week and Even, hugh who's not
Liked Anthony bradford pretty much all season, long did On
Mark show yesterday Defend Anthony bradford's. Play it wasn't as
bad as what it looked. Like and there were a
couple of isolated highlights that made him look like he
(01:05:32):
was blocking. Air and yet Who hugh had an explanation for.
It i'm not SURE i could come up with an
explanation for, it But hugh had an explanation for. It bottom,
line he was saying that Maybe Anthony bradford is getting
killed a little bit too much this, week and maybe he.
Speaker 5 (01:05:49):
Wouldn't be replaced in that. Situation, MAYBE i. GUESS i,
MEAN i don't. KNOW i don't Believe mike McDonald when
he's SAYING i think he's playing pretty. Good, now If
hugh wants to find reasons why maybe it looks worse
than it, was, Okay i'll listen to. That BUT i,
Mean i'm just coming from A i'm not a guy
that sits here and studies it or acts Like i'm
(01:06:12):
some you, know former pro that knows it, right that
really can dive. In i'm just, saying watching, it there's
times THAT i watch offensive line right Because i'm not
wanting him to get To Sam darnold because then he's
fumbling some balls or he's you, know just recently through those,
picks and so It's i'm watching the offensive. Line and
more often than, not if someone comes in there, quickly
(01:06:33):
they're coming By sam Or Anthony. Bradford if the pocket
collapses And i'm not talking about the tackles, received you,
know conceding that they're going to be able to get,
upfield but if the inside of the pocket, collapses it
typically is Where Anthony bradford was.
Speaker 7 (01:06:47):
At to, me it's it seems like a.
Speaker 5 (01:06:48):
Weakness and if if pros say that it isn't. Okay,
Yeah i'm just saying the layman's, EYES i watch, it
AND i see the dude looks like he's blocked ghosts
and there's a, real live human heading back towards the.
Quarterback and Then i've been on run. Place if it's
maybe you suck it pass, blocking but then be really
(01:07:09):
good at run blocking don't be bad at. Both and to,
me it's like WHEN i watch, him he looks like
that's it could be an upgrade. POSSIBILITY i don't Think
timmy has been, outstanding but it doesn't look like he's
been a guy that people are just running by.
Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
Either so you Go timmy And. Sundal, yes.
Speaker 5 (01:07:27):
Yes and If timmy is just a center and he can't,
play you, know guard like they obviously Know, sundell could
they moved him. INSIDE i think maybe that's the lesser
of two. Evils if you get that's your best combo
of two guys out of the. Three, uh and you,
know maybe it doesn't, work but then you should Have.
Bradford maybe he can rest up a little.
Speaker 7 (01:07:48):
Bit maybe he's. Tired, yeah somebody give that guy a.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
NAP i, MEAN i get. IT i need a nap
usually every. Day same.
Speaker 1 (01:08:00):
Here.
Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
Yeah so if he's not getting past, blocking has going
to crap SINCE i started doing this.
Speaker 9 (01:08:05):
Show, yeah, yeah you couldn't put me out there on
A sunday IF i haven't napped all.
Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
WEEK i look Like Jermaina fetti out there not saying.
Speaker 3 (01:08:13):
Something, yeah all, right coming up. Next holiday analytics were introduced.
Yesterday we have combined the worlds That Mike holmgren never
wanted to see, intertwined and we're doing it just to
get it coach a little bit holiday analytics Before bucky

Davis, yeah IT'S.
Speaker 10 (01:09:32):
I i'm pretty. Sure i've only talked to him once
AND i didn't ask him out his pronounced his, name
But i'm pretty people have told me It's Trade. Davis
Trad david six six out Of west Mon, Row. Louisiana
can do a lot of different things for, you isn't
isn't a guy who you can kind of pigeonhole in
one one. Area he's a he's got he's got really good,
(01:09:53):
speed that's kind of his. Trademark he's got great open
field running. Ability could actually be in a return man
at some. Point So washington is doing a lot to
upgrade the weapons outside that are at the disposal Of Demon,
williams because if you Want DeMont williams to have, success
obviously he's got to have an offensive line in, front
but he's also got to have some people to throw.
(01:10:14):
To and over the last two, classes this now MAKES
i believe it's ten wide receivers in the in their
recruit last two recruiting, classes and so they've added a
lot of talent and now we need to see what
it looks like in springball and how things kind of
pan out the way they.
Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
Battle Scott eckland is with us talking About husky recruiting
here on The National Signing, day and of, course so
now most of this stuff has already been, Done so
we'll get to some of the things that have already been.
Accomplished but what else are you working? On what else
are you keeping an eye? On what else could break
today that we would put in the you, know breaking news?
Speaker 10 (01:10:54):
Category well as far as what are we waiting, On
we're waiting on ten more guys to get there in
and some of the you, know some of those guys
are some of the biggest guys in the, class Including
Cody green at five star offensive tackle out Of Southern.
California he's a local kid that went that moved down
to modern day kind of that legendary program down. There
(01:11:15):
he's we're still waiting on him to. Sign he's going
to sign a little later this. Morning Brian, bonner the
big time running back out Of valencia That washington was
able to get in the. Class they also have Raj On,
duncan who is a cornerback defensive back out of. Mcclemons
so we're still kind of waiting on some of. Those another,
Ones Jaron, jones who a lot of people are comparing
(01:11:35):
to a guy Like trent, McDuffie Which tusky fans saw
Other trent McDuffie out. THERE i think they'd be pretty
happy about. That so just ten, Guys i'm not worried
about any of, them except for. One Dre. Pollard he's
a guy who is kind of deciding Between washington And.
Stanford he committed To washington a while. Ago he's out
Of Clark High school In Las. Vegas that if you
(01:11:56):
want to talk about breaking, news that's kind of what
we're waiting For wade to see what he's. Done and
he's kind of gone, dark not really talking to a
lot of. People so it's a lot of second and
third hand, sources school, sources program, sources and things like.
That some people are saying he's locked in With, washington
some people are saying he's headed To, danford and then
others are saying he hasn't made up his mind, Yet
so it's kind of it's kind of those crazy pre
(01:12:20):
draft information that guys like Melk hyper guys you know
that that followed the draft so closely get and and
you just have to kind of sort through it and
figure out what's real and what.
Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
Isn't where's all the local talent this, Year, scott where's
The washington high school? Talent BECAUSE i mean there are
various lists out there and the players are few and
far between this particular recruiting year coming out of the
state Of, washington and it felt to me, Like, man
the state Of washington high school.
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
Football had been on a role.
Speaker 3 (01:12:52):
Here, hell we practically Handed ohio state and national championship
here last. Year so has this just been a year
for high school talent here In?
Speaker 10 (01:13:02):
Washington, WELL i, Mean washington does have four local guys
committed to, Them Tom malou out Of Annie. Wright it's
only in their second year as a with a football.
Program they got the top guy in the, State Derek
Coleman brus out Of Kennedy. Catholic they also have let's
(01:13:22):
See Audiyong, yang an offensive lineman out of Pull. Up
and there's one more THAT i Know i'm forgetting off
the top of my, head but you, know they've got several.
Guys oh Ramzak, froun who just committed out Of Bethel High.
School he Was adrius Rainey sala's teammate down At Bethel High.
School down there and span, away so you, know they
(01:13:43):
got some of the top guys in the, state but
as far as you, know some of The washington offered
ten guys IN i think actually it might be eleven
guys in the state Of. Washington this pat this this recruiting,
cycle but there was only like four or five that
they really pursued. Hard another one could be adding his
name to the list later this. Week Brendan huffman kind
of broke this on our message. BOARD i don't want
(01:14:04):
to take credit for, it But Brendon huffman broke That David,
schwerzel a defensive lineman out Of Oday High, school had
committed TO, ucla flipped To stanford when THE ucla situation
happened and they fired To Shaun, foster and then recommitted TO.
UCLA i think it Was, Monday it might have been,
yesterday but definitely On monday or yesterday that he recommitted TO.
(01:14:28):
Ucla and now things are back open and it sounds
Like washington has a good chance of reeling him. In
but it might not happen. Today it might happen either
tomorrow Or. Friday so you, know we'll just have to
wait and. See on. That but as far as you,
know do we have guys on the caliber of The
mecca At A buka and uh and the other Guy
i'm totally DoD who had Moloaw so, yeah those. Guys
(01:14:53):
there just haven't been guys on that level, yet you,
know in the last couple of. Years Now derek Hole
brusa has that. Potential BUT i mean he's he's a
legit six, five two hundred and seventy five pounds and
he's gonna play defensive end defensive tackle For. Washington he's
a lot LIKE jt Twa mala and a lot of
what he does might not be quite on that elite,
(01:15:16):
athleticism you know level, yet but he's pretty close and
not far. Away but you, know there just hasn't been
the same kind of five star talent to come out
of the state and if there. Did if there had,
Been washington would be competing with everybody in the country
like they did With Derek Coleman, brusa but they would
be doing it for multiple guys instead of Just Coleman.
(01:15:37):
Brusa so THAT i, mean you, know it isn't a bad,
class AND i think the depth of the class is
pretty good because there's a lot of guys who are
signing with power forward, programs but right Now washington turned
their focus to about five or six key guys and
those are the ones who are signing with.
Speaker 3 (01:15:54):
Them Scott eckland is with us cover in high school
recruits on twenty four to seven at Dog man and
twenty four to seven sports Dot com as, well and
he's joining us here On chuck And buck in The,
morning says he always does on The National Signing day
His christmas as we talk About washington recruiting and just
overall national, recruiting because let's face, it we're in a
(01:16:16):
transition period in a lot of ways in college. Football,
SCOTT i, mean this day has changed for, you for,
players for, coaches for staffs. Everywhere AND i MEAN i
JUST i look at the top three hundred and you've
got a guy going To. Maryland for, goodness say When
maryland ever get a top ten. Recruit we saw guys
(01:16:37):
flip From georgia To vanderbilt. YESTERDAY i, mean things are,
weird things are, different and maybe. GOOD i don't, know
how do you feel about it as somebody that has
loved this recruiting process your entire?
Speaker 10 (01:16:50):
Life, WELL i don't love the direction things are going.
NOW i will SAY i do like the fact that
the blue blood, programs the you, know top ten programs
in the. Country that's schools Like, oregon and you, know
from a marketing, standpoint they haven't been a top ten
program from a win, standpoint but they seem to always
(01:17:14):
be in that, group in that top ten, group especially
on the recruiting. Trail but schools Like, oregon school schools
Like Ohio, State, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, michigan schools like
that are having to battle a lot harder with these
up and coming, programs is What i'd like to call,
them you, know or programs that have a good reputation
(01:17:37):
they might just not be they might be right on
that outside of the of the blue blood program kind of. Situations,
so you, KNOW nil has obviously changed a lot of.
That the fact that kids can transfer all over the,
PLACE i mean one of the things THAT i, THINK
i mean that they've got to figure out a way
to do in an equitable, way BECAUSE i don't think
players shouldn't have the ability to move around if the
(01:17:58):
coach that they signed with, leaves because you go to
a job guess what you have To you have to
either stick it out or you can leave if you
don't want to work for the people that are that
own that. Business and same with with. Colleges you, know
if a kid's go into a school and things just
aren't working out there for whatever, reason he should be
able to. Leave but we're not going to let players do.
(01:18:20):
That SO i don't know how to do. It people
a lot smarter than me have to figure this. Out
but the problem is the fan bases have no buy
in on with a lot of these kids because they
know that the Second jedfish decides to go to AN
nfl program for a you, know as a take a
job with AN nfl, team or they know, that you,
(01:18:41):
know THE usc fans know That Lincoln riley could be
looking somewhere, else or Or Ryan day or you, know
all these coaches that either could get fired or could
leave for greener. Pastures those kids can just jump right
into the. Portal and so that's why a lot of
these coaches are advocating for the portal not to open
until after, springball even for kids whose coaches. Left that, way,
(01:19:03):
hey they get a chance to be recruited by the new,
staff and they also get a chance to work with
them during spring football and then they can make an
educated decision instead of these snap judgments that these kids
make that they have to make because they only get
like a five or fifteen day window whatever it is
to make that. Decision SO i think the luster is
(01:19:25):
a little bit off of signing day like that compared
to what it used to, be just because a lot
of fans don't have that buy in with these guys
because they know they could leave at the drop of a.
Hat but you, know it's still an important building process
For washington and all these other, programs and so a
lot of fans are still bought. IN i think they
just aren't quite as bought in as they were.
Speaker 3 (01:19:46):
Before there is the potential for my favorite sports story
of the, year and it could go down. Today it
might be happening right before our. Eyes i'm sure you
know more about this THAN i, do and SO i
do want to get your take on. It but the
number one over all prospect in the, country not in every,
Circle i'm, sure but in a lot of circles is
Lsu Pledge Lamar. Brown and the story today is that
(01:20:10):
maybe he's not going to sign WITH. Lsu so there
is a chance that this kid out Of mississippi And Lane,
kiffin who had to Leave ole miss just to get
THE lsu in time for today so that he didn't lose,
recruits might lose the best recruit in the. Country and believe, Me,
SCOTT i would like nothing more in the world than
(01:20:33):
if we found out in an hour Lamar Or brown
is signing With ole miss and the whole reason he
was leaving the state to begin with is because he
Hated Lane kiffin's.
Speaker 2 (01:20:42):
Guts that would be, Amazing.
Speaker 10 (01:20:43):
Scott, yeah, WELL i, mean you, Know Lane kiffin is
is a lightning. Ride, definitely he draws. It he doesn't
shrink away from, it and you know he can be
entertaining at, times but there's other times when you're just shut,
up just do you know. Whatever AND i don't know
if you've seen the tweets from from some of his
former players that are out there that where he, said you,
(01:21:06):
know the team asked me to, stay but the school
wouldn't let. Me and the players, like, yeah that isn't
what you said in your meeting with, us and nobody
nobody said that to, us are to, you, nobody none
of us said that you they wanted you to stay in,
coach so you, KNOW i mean that's just kind of
who he is and you know that going. In but,
(01:21:28):
YEAH i mean it's happened a. LOT i, mean, dude
this is the least craziest thing that could happen on signing.
Day there was one where a kid faxed in his
letter of intent upside down to the school that he
had pledged, to and then they sent it. Back they, said,
hey you need to turn it over and send it
this is when they sent facts by the. Way you
(01:21:49):
need to you need to send it back to us face.
Up and so he, said, OKAY i, will and then
he faxed it Into Ohio state so to a different.
School there's another one where a mom wouldn't refuse to
sign and ran away with the letter of, intent wouldn't
let the kids. Sign so trust, me there's as crazy
as it, sounds what the scenario you mapped. Out and
(01:22:12):
don't get me, wrong it's still, crazy but it doesn't
even it is even in a realm of what could
be crazy on finding.
Speaker 3 (01:22:20):
Day Scott ecklin is whether it's he's seen a signing
day or two from a dog man joining us here
to talk about what you dub is doing, primarily and
so let's go back to that to finish out the.
CONVERSATION i, Mean i'm seeing top twenty that good with.
You do you like this class For? Jedfish is it
another example of a step in the right direction for
(01:22:41):
building this?
Speaker 10 (01:22:41):
Program, well it is top, twenty but it's actually top.
Thirteen it's number thirteen in the. Country so the scary
thing is it is the fifth best class in The Big,
ten and in The Big ten has five of the top,
thirteen and at THE sec has six of the top
(01:23:02):
thirteen in the. Country so that means there's only two
programs and That's Notre dame And miami that have better
classes that aren't in one of the big two. Conferences
so it just shows you how how a lot of
as much as we might say things have kind of opened,
up the talent level is still going to the top
(01:23:24):
two conferences in the, country in the in The Big
ten and THE. Sec so but, no as far As
washington love the, CLASS i mean they've got they got
the best guy from the state Of. Washington they got
two of the three best from the state Of. Nevada
In Gavin day of the safety out Of Faith, lutheran
(01:23:45):
and Then Dominic, kerris one of the top linemen on
their board of six eight three and fifty pounds offensive.
Tackle they, got they've got some good running, Backs they've
got a heck of a wide receiver. Class And Mason
james out Of Norman north In, Oklahoma, Uh Blaze lavisa
out Of. Illinois and then they got the two guys
(01:24:05):
you know we. Met we talked About Trey davis. Earlier
we didn't even Mention Jordan, clay who might be the
biggest get of the, four and he committed To washington.
Yesterday he flipped his commitment From baylor To. Washington he's
out Of Texas San, antonio man uh memor U San antonio.
Something he's out Of San antonio so. Uh, anyway he's
(01:24:25):
had a he's had a program down. There So washington
has one of the best wide receiver. Classes he's six,
three two hundred. Pounds Blaise lavisa is about. Six you
also Have Mason, james who's a little on the smaller.
Side he's more of like your slot. Receiver and then
you Got Trey, davis who can do a bunch of
different things for. You so they're wide receiver. CLASSES i
(01:24:47):
don't want to say it's second to, none but it's
it's pretty darn. Good and then you got a really
good defensive back class In Casani, Giles Gavin, day WHO
i already, Mentioned you Got Jaron. Jones, uh you got
some big time. Guys two more other big time guys
in the class from that are defensive. Back so it's
a really, good solid overall. Class the defensive line is
(01:25:09):
really picked up from a recruiting standpoint over the last
couple of, weeks and Getting David schwerzel just add another
great piece if they do end up getting him by
the end of the. Week so just a good overall
building class and something That jedfish can. Go, okay now
we can turn to the portal see how many guys
of ours are deciding to leave and how we need
to fill in things because they're losing there's two starting,
(01:25:32):
corners they're losing five or six defensive lineman from the.
Rotation they're losing two of their offensive linemen to graduation
And Garon hatchett And Carver, willis so they've got some
work to do to fill in some. Holes but the
talent level is definitely building For.
Speaker 2 (01:25:51):
Washington, excellent, excellent.
Speaker 3 (01:25:52):
Excellent all, Right, tom let's promote something where people need
to know to get this information all day long from
you and your.
Speaker 10 (01:25:59):
Gang, well first thing that people need to know is
the two four Seven sports national broadcast is up on our.
Board so just go over to Dog man dawg m
an dot. Com sign in, there get on our recruiting,
Board i'm, sorry on Our Signing day, board and that's
where all of the information. Is we have that pinned
(01:26:19):
up at the top for. You you can watch that
show over. There we've got all of the commits as
they come in and with their. Signings we're updating all those,
things and we're going to have some superlatives from the
class THAT i usually. Do USUALLY i do it the day,
after but it's probably going to be two days after
BECAUSE i am down In, hawaii So i'm gonna spend
(01:26:39):
some time with my. Family haven't been able to do
that this whole week Because i've been getting ready for.
Today So i'm gonna spend some time with the family
later today and then but have something up for you
guys On friday on. Superlatives and Also i'll look ahead
at what the twenty twenty seven. Classes because we never
stop on the recruiting, Trail so come on over to Dog.
Man lots of stuff to talk about.
Speaker 2 (01:27:00):

Speaker 3 (01:27:01):
Stuff thank you as always we. Appreciate we'll bug you real.
Speaker 12 (01:27:04):

Speaker 3 (01:28:05):
Buck come morning, Out.
Speaker 15 (01:28:07):
Good, Morning. Chuck happy week After?
Speaker 2 (01:28:10):
Thanksgiving oh, well thank you very. MUCH i appreciate. It
did you have a nice? CELEBRATION i?
Speaker 12 (01:28:16):
DID i, did And i'm paying for.
Speaker 11 (01:28:18):
It, now you know.
Speaker 15 (01:28:21):
Things up between now and, crystals SO i can eat
the same way and see less than three.
Speaker 2 (01:28:25):
Weeks, Yeah i'm.
Speaker 3 (01:28:28):
WONDERING i Guess bucky ate turkey for like sixteen straight
meals and he loved every second of. It so he's
not one that complains about.
Speaker 2 (01:28:36):
Leftovers.
Speaker 15 (01:28:37):
Ol, no nothing wrong with some leftover turkey for turkey.
Speaker 11 (01:28:41):
Sandwiches all.
Speaker 3 (01:28:43):
Right, well we've got an issue with this kracking team
all of a sudden this.
Speaker 2 (01:28:47):
Year AND i realize you go through.
Speaker 3 (01:28:49):
Hot and cold, spells and So i'm not so worried
about a three game losing streak at this point in the.
Year but SHOULD i be worried about a power play
that suddenly has gone ice ice?
Speaker 12 (01:29:00):
Out?
Speaker 15 (01:29:02):
YEAH i mean it's tough to put a put your
finger on what's going. ON i will, say you, know
you're coming off of a few games with teams with
fantastic special teams. Groups now that's not an excuse because
you're going to face those throughout the. Season BUT i
think this team is just looking for that right combination
(01:29:22):
of guys that right to set up in the offensive zone.
There you, KNOW i started counting shot attemps last games
on the power, play and it's not like they're only
getting one or two shot. Attemps they're attempting to put
the puck on, net but for whatever, reason it's missing the,
net it's getting, blocked it's getting deflected up over the,
glass and so the shot attempts are. There they've got
(01:29:45):
to find ways to get the puck, through AND i
think a little more traffic in front and you'll start
seeing more of these goals either going off of deflections
that are intentional by it by cracking, players or they'll
create secondary chances that then cracking players can pick up
and find the rebounds.
Speaker 3 (01:30:01):
On, well let's play a little armchair Lane lambert. HERE i,
mean what kind of combination would you like to see
him try to maybe unlock this. Thing who are some
players that you think could possibly create some chemistry there
on the power?
Speaker 12 (01:30:17):
Play, WELL i.
Speaker 15 (01:30:18):
Think there's a couple of parts to that. Answer number one,
is you, know on the, downside you've Lost Jaden schwartz
for a period of time and he was a key
part of the power. Play but it creates opportunities for.
Others so If I'm Lane, Lambert i'm obviously excited to
Have jared McCann. Back he's been back for a couple
of games so. Far he's obviously a part of that
power play and can have a big impact on. It
(01:30:41):
so if we, say, like for, like Maybe schwartz And
jared McCann, are you, know balance each other? Out you know,
what one takes it, down one brings it, up and you,
think well who else could be out? There, well because
Of Jaden schwartz being, injured you're Giving berkeley to cat
in a chance on the power play as. Well he
hasn't scored a goal, yet BUT i see it so,
(01:31:03):
coming so, close AND i think that you, know one
of the Things Lane lamberte said yesterday is you know
he wants to. Packey you, know he's so, close AND
i think once he starts gets his first, one they'll
start coming in. Bunches so Between jared mccanby and back
and the opportunity For Berkeley catton to get in and
a couple of games with these guys getting some power
play time under their, BELTS i think you'll start to
(01:31:25):
see that percentage start to inch back.
Speaker 2 (01:31:28):
Up how long Is schwartz going to be? Out what
are you?
Speaker 15 (01:31:30):
Hearing, yeah we're hearing four to six. Weeks and it's, Crazy,
chuck because this season we're hearing about so many injuries
and it's Not, hey you know he's going to be
out for a few days or a, week and you
know it's it's four to six weeks or in some
cases it's. Months you, Know, like the injuries are real this.
Season AND i don't know if it's the compressed schedule
(01:31:51):
that's causing. This i'm sure somebody's going to do some
research and figure out how many you, know injuries called
them low mid in the high.
Speaker 11 (01:32:00):
Level you, know, days, weeks and.
Speaker 15 (01:32:02):
Months have happened in the first twenty four games this
season versus last, season this season, before but it feels
like it's. Higher so, yeah that's what we're hearing. About
Jayden schwartz is four to six weeks and you, know
we probably won't see him back on the ice Until.
Speaker 3 (01:32:17):
January Al kaniskius WITH us our color Analysts husky ex
see Me. HUSKIES i was looking at A huskies read, yeah,
yeah A husky, fan but crack and analysts and he
joins us Every wednesday at this, toime deeks to The
Queen Anne Beer, hall home of the legendary Smash, burger
and your pre post and away game at. Headquarters, well
(01:32:40):
get back at action. Tomorrow maybe a little extra rest will,
help but certainly the opponent doesn't. Help this is a
team And edmonton that we know is one of the
most talented in all of The National Hockey league and
they just beat You ford to ford a squat the
last time you played. Them so not exactly the easiest
team to get back on the horse.
Speaker 15 (01:32:59):
With, no it's, not But i'll tell you. Check the
team has had four days of, practice and if you
look at the, schedule other than maybe The olympic, break
there isn't a break where you get that much time
to work on your. Game AND i think it's been
a good opportunity for the guys, to LIKE i, said
get through That thanksgiving, break have four days of, practice
(01:33:19):
look at, film look at what went wrong in that
Last edmonton, game and then roll Into edmonton tomorrow with
a bit of a chip on their. Shoulder AND i
think you're going to see that in this, game whether
it be the physicality of the, game whether it be
the intensity of the. GAME i think the guys are
a little annoyed of how things went last, game and
(01:33:39):
you're going to see a very different. Outcome at least
that's WHAT i.
Speaker 3 (01:33:42):
Believe is this offensive thing just going to be an
issue all year? Long it certainly was last. Year we
didn't win as many one goal games a year. Ago
the defense didn't seem to be quite as sharp as
it was the previous.
Speaker 2 (01:33:55):
Season and SO i, mean.
Speaker 3 (01:33:58):
Is this offensive thing we were feeling earlier in the
year like maybe that that issue had been solved a little?
Speaker 2 (01:34:04):
Bit are you what.
Speaker 3 (01:34:06):
Is your long term expectation of whether or not we've
got the offensive pieces for this not to become a.
Speaker 15 (01:34:12):
Problem you, Know, CHUCK i went to The seahawk game On,
sunday AND i think after the fourth field goal and defensive,
TOUCHDOWN i, thought does this team not know how to score?
Touchdowns they end up winning, it they end up shutting
out you, know their opponent in The Detroit. Lions it's, like, well,
wait a second defense does matter? Here and you, know
(01:34:33):
there are other ways to win football. Games AND i
think that's what The kraken are dealing with this, season
is they're recognizing that scoring isn't necessarily an, issue as you,
say it's just that defense is the priority and keeping the,
opposition you, know with goals against low enough where you
stay in the game for as long as, possible and
(01:34:54):
then taking advantage of your opportunities when you get. Them,
now part of the part of those, opportunities see is
the power. Play you have to take advantage of, those
because that's your chance to get on the board if
you're keeping the opposition at two, goals at three, goals
at one. Whatever BUT i think you're not going to
see a lot of games from this team where they
win six nothing in whatever city or against whatever team they're.
(01:35:17):
Playing it's going to be a lot of four to two,
wins three to one, wins three two. Wins and you,
know from a player's, Perspective i'm okay with. That you,
know sometimes the fans don't like. It they want to
see a lot of, Goals but at the end of the,
day the players just want to know what's the strategy
on how to win hockey. Games and if it's a
defense first, mentality then you've got all twenty guys pulling
(01:35:37):
in the same. Direction they'll go out and do.
Speaker 2 (01:35:39):
It just win, Baby just win, Baby that's what it's all.
Speaker 15 (01:35:42):
About all.
Speaker 3 (01:35:43):
