Speaker 1 (00:10):
Broadcasting live from the Abraham Lincoln Radio Studio of the
George Washington Broadcast Center.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Jack Armstrong and Joe Getty Armstrong and Jetty and he.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Armstrong live from Studio C. This is the Armstrong and
Getty Show. We're going to start the show officially at mark.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have
him rank custody.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
I don't want to go too far.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
I'd like to tell you some stories at how it happened.
But essentially, somebody that was very close to him turned
him in and the person was involved with law enforcement
but was a person of faith, a minister, and I
brought him to a US Marshall who was fantastic, and
the father convinced the son this is it and he's there.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Wow, okay, that's quite a development. I'm not sure precisely
who's who in that story. Yeah, I got I'm sure
that will all come out. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
I haven't heard a word on any news outlet other
than what Trump said that it was somebody that was
very close to him that turned him in.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
And the father went to the son and said this
is it and brought him in. Okay, all right, Well,
well I'll find out, I suppose, but it would certainly appear,
as the President was unequivocal that they believe strongly they
have the assassin of Charlie Kirk in custody.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
Of course, it'll be real interesting to hear what this
crazy person thanks to the extent that we hear anything now, lawyers.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
Will.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
You know, tell him to not say anything? I imagine, Yeah,
But they will be able to dig. They'll dig through
his social media background and computers and all kinds of stuff.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Will come out. We'll find that out. And it's entirely
possible somebody who's willing to commit such a horrendous inhuman
act in the name of some beliefs is desperate to
tell you what those beliefs are. Wouldn't surprise me, right.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
We definitely will not spend all four hours on this
today like we did yesterday, but we will spend some.
It has clearly been a very big story for lots
of people, and I continue to be mostly impressed by
the way it's being handled in the main better than
anything I can remember.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Right, mostly impressed, definitely. I think it's interesting that you
and I were both at organization social events last night,
and mine was definitely not a bunch of college men,
and everybody was completely aware of the assassination to Charlie
Kirk and completely horrified by it. Bar Nunn was the
(03:09):
penetration in the American consciousness is practically unprecedented.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
Well, I don't think I fully appreciated what a big
deal he was to young men. I mean the fact
that the New York Yankees put Charlie Kirk's face up
on the screen and had a moment of silence, and
everybody was silent. They either understood or there's enough young
men that work with the Yankees or whatever they realized,
this is our audience.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
We gotta recognize this, including players. Yeah, it's almost certain.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Well, and Gavin Newsom said, you know, Gavin Newsom, who
had Charlie Kirk on for his first guest on his podcast, said,
my son absolutely loves you. That's how I became aware
of you. So yeah, it was a big deal for
that crowd.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Yeah, yeah, partly because he rejected the notion that to
be a male is somehow to be diseased, which is
what these poor young fellas have been hearing from their
leftist educators and sickos. Now for a generation, it's horrible.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
So the FBI is going to do an update shortly
on the assassination suspect. We'll bring any news out of that.
Of course, as we set in our promos for today's show,
all the other big stories of the world do not
get put on hold when another story gets all the attention.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
That's not the way life works, as you know. Yeah,
they don't wait for us.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Yeah, and you still got the whole Russia sending drones
into Poland thing and how Europe's going to react to that,
and everything that went on with the strike in Qatar
and Hamas in Israel.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
The economy.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
There's some inflation numbers that came out today, and we
can get to all that stuff too.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Although it is Friday, it is indeed.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Yeah, yeah, I was at a dinner.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yes, I just confirmed that it is Friday. My role here, well,
I thought my fact checking Live fact check.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
I sort of felt like your confirmation was and what
difference does that make?
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Was your Well, No, I was going to say something
about and we will certainly, you know, have some some
fun and frivolity and that sort of thing. But then
I thought that I don't have the mood for vality, right,
who's got the time stupid. I was in an event
last night for the Boy Scouts.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
I've gotten super into Boy Scouts lately, as I've talked
about on the air a lot. My son joined the
Boy Scouts last March. He is absolutely loving it. It's
one of the best things that's happened in his life.
I've learned a lot more about the Scouting organization and
how absolutely amazing it is for primarily young men. This
was the big fundraiser in our local area last night,
and it was because everything is Scout run pretty much everything.
(05:46):
I mean, there was an adult that came out and
introduced the Scout that then was ran the whole thing.
I mean, that's the way it all is. It's all
about leadership qualities, which I didn't know. I thought scouting
was all about learning to make a fire and what
you do if you get bit by a retelsnake canoe paddling.
Figure's large, right, But it's really about leadership skills. That's
what it's all about. And anyway, the person I ran
(06:08):
it was a girl Eagle Scout who ran the thing,
but primarily men and to have an organization out there
that is about uplifting young men and empowering young men
and making them feel like they can do, you know things,
and it's you know, the phrase toxic masculinity or anything
like that is not going to be heard anywhere near
(06:29):
anything in scouting. I just couldn't love it more because,
as we all know, boys are up against.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
It in our current culture. In my opinion, Yeah, and
I know there's some sensitivity judging by emails and that
sort of thing, for the fact that now the Boy
Scouts have been forced to include young women girls, Yeah,
it's fine. I would suggest that. Yeah, the glass is
ninety eight percent full. It is all about traditional values
and building strong, capable Americans and let's keep our eyes.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
Trust me, I'm very, very close to it. It is fantastic.
It's one of the best things I've better around. We're
gonna get more involved in raising money for it next year.
It's just it couldn't have been more pleased. And ever
they put a thing up on the screen of famous
Eagle Scouts and it was really cool. Lots of presidents,
business leaders, athletes, very successful people.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
And it doesn't surprise me that a lot of more
Eagle Scouts.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
So I just love that and I throw that out
as a you know, the last couple of days have
been pretty negative and and sad, and it was a
lot about this hero to young men, Charlie Kirk being
assassinated and et cetera. And you know, I was had
an organization that's all about boostering young men and young
women if they want to.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
There is still the Girl Scouts.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
And I don't know exactly how you decide is a
girl if you want to be in the Boy Scouts
or the Girls Scouting USA or the Girl Scouts. But anyway,
they announced a new Girl Scout cookie today. They're adding
to their Girl Scout cookies. Now you got my attention.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
I know. So they don't call it the Boy Scouts
and the Girl Scouts anymore. And you've is it both
Scouting USA or is it Scouting USA and the Girl
Scouts is called also Scouting USA.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
I have Scouting USA with ovarrease. I think it's optional.
I don't know, and I don't care. This sort of
thing is not what I get uh jazzed about. I
think it's Scouting USA and Girl Scouts. But anyway, the
main thing I was gonna mention is a meal. It's
a bit in the big hotel right here next to
the radio station. If I didn't have kids, I would
have just slept in our office last night because I
got this thing. I ate way too much. I ate
(08:25):
every morsel they put in front of me. Oh you know,
so you got bread, you got salad, and we had
chicken which was not rubbert, it was delicious, and rice
and vegetables, and then this piece of chocolate cake the
side of my head and just what you need at
like eight o'clock at night, at the end of a
long work day.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
It's a great, big.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Giant piece of chocolate cake to energize you for bed.
Oh my goow. Well, my thing.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
It was like family style Italian food, and the courses
just kept coming and coming, and it was just it
was horrific. I was like over fold before like the
main course came, and as I said, the old joke
about Italian food, the problem with the eating Italian food
is two or three days later, you're hungry again. Oh
my god, there's a meal. Why you're the Italian so thin? Huh?
(09:13):
Do they smoke a lot? Is that it?
Speaker 4 (09:15):
I have been to meals before they came bringing They
keep bringing out more rounds of food and like, did
I have a stroke or wake up from a nap?
Speaker 2 (09:23):
And didn't we already eat several times? What are we doing?
I needed a map of this to know where I
was going and how long it would take. Anyway, So.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
Is there anything that could come out of as soon
as they make the announcements about this assassination suspect that
would change anything.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
In your mind? Oh, that's an intriguing question.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
I thought it was interesting, Like I said yesterday, Usually
you have the person right away and then so immediately
got all their information, and a lot of it becomes
about that. We had the interesting experience for what thirty
six hours of being able to just kind of generally
discuss political violence in the main without having a face
to put on this one.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
And I don't know.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
I think as soon as information starts coming out on
them and things are going to start to go a.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Little sideways pretty quickly.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
I mean, did he actually have on his bullets some
transgender ANTIFA stuff?
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Has that been nailed down yet? Uh? No, there's I've
heard nothing on that being nobody's just law enforcement memo.
Nobody's disputed it, although I didn't know. All they've said
is you've got to be careful about preliminary blah blah blah.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
That's yeah. None of the newscasts had that infull on
him last night that I saw, So.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
I'm not surprised by that at all. Yeah, I mean,
because all you have to say is preliminary law enforcement
reports sad and that is disclaimer enough people understand that.
Throw it an extra sentence if you want. But no,
they ignored it completely.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
Yeah, have to believe that if it said I mean,
this would have been weird. But if it said maga
on the bullets, they would have gone ahead and run.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
With that story. Well yeah, in a scenario where I'm
not going to name a specific person, but if some
young lefty influencer was slaughtered, yeah, they would report that immediately.
Of course. Oh dishonest, completely dishonest.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
And I was watching in the middle of the night
because I ate so much chocolate cake I couldn't sleep.
I was watching Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders, there's no tea
in Sanders. What are you doing? There's no ten my name.
Bernie Sanders put out a four minute sitting at a
desk video last night that Mark Alprin said was the
best thing. Bernie Sanders has ever done. I thought it
(11:39):
was really good.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
It was.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
The practically first example I've seen where people call out
both sides, including their own side, on this sort of stuff,
and just flat out say that we can't we can't
operate like this. There's just no way we can go forward.
So we'll play a little bit of that later.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Sanders. Yes, Bernie's an interesting care He's wrong about everything,
but I believe him to be sincere, mostly especially for
a politician. Uh, he's like the most sincere. Uh, he
is one of the most sincere on the scene. This
is wrong about everything. I do like that about him.
I think he actually believes all that stuff he says.
And I mean and he he goes against his own
(12:17):
party on a legal immigration and and and and and
a number of things that because he solidly believes these things.
But he also does believe you should be able to
go out there and say things that are unpopular without
getting shot.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
That's the only way we can operate as a country.
And he's right about that. Anyway, we've got headlines on
the way to a bunch of other stuff. Here's our
text line four one five nine five KFTC.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
Strong. Hey, Hey, everybody, look, Katie's back.
Speaker 6 (12:45):
Hey.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Oh my gosh, Hey Katie, Katie the news lady. Hi,
Hi guys. How you doing.
Speaker 7 (12:51):
I'm doing well.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
I've missed you a lot.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
This should make you happy. A lot of people were
really concerned when we had Jensen filling in that you
had either quit or been fired or something.
Speaker 7 (13:02):
Well, very grateful for Jensen for filling in. Yeah, that
was nice as a much needed process I was going through.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
But everything's good and I'm happy to be back.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
So are you gonna talk to us later about the
whole IVF thing or maybe in the podcast?
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Yeah? Absolutely awesome. Okay, looking forward to that. Well, let's
figure out who's reporting what. It's the lead story with
Katie Green. Hooray Katie.
Speaker 7 (13:22):
Oh alrighty, let's start with NBC. Trump says person is
in custody linked to Charlie kirk manhunt.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
Yeah, and so it is being confirmed. The guy, the
person in custody confessed to his dad that he's the
guy who did it, and then dad convinced him to
turn himself in.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Wow, do you talk about some drama there?
Speaker 4 (13:45):
As a father whoa.
Speaker 7 (13:50):
From the Washington Post quote, my kid has seen this? Now,
what parents reeling as Charlie Kirk video goes viral.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
We talked about this yesterday.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
Both Hanson and I had the experience of you know
this video, Do you want to watch it?
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Do you want to not watch it? Should it be
on the news?
Speaker 4 (14:07):
You pick up your kid from school and realize they've
seen every angle multiple times slow motion all afternoon their friends.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
That is.
Speaker 4 (14:16):
I don't think there's any change in that reality. But
that's disturbing.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
I continue to wonder whether the human soul is actually
capable of enduring what we have brought upon ourselves in
the modern world. But I don't know. As I often say,
I guess we'll all find out together.
Speaker 7 (14:32):
From ABC US, college campuses are experiencing an epidemic of
swatting calls following the shooting death of Charlie Kirk.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
That's interesting. I wonder who is swatting home?
Speaker 4 (14:47):
Right by the way, getting back to the video thing.
We should talk about this more later. It's impossible that
it doesn't desensitize people. I mean, that's just the way
the human brain works. You can become desensitiz to anything
through repetition, absolutely anything.
Speaker 7 (15:03):
Right right from CNN, satellite images reveal wide destruction in
Gaza City as Israel steps up its assault.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
Yeah, I bet Israel didn't mind the focus being off
them for.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
The week, at least in the US. Yeah, as Netnyahu
had given an evacuation order for all of Gaza City
and said we're going to go in. We're going to
mop up the last of Hamas and it's going to
be rough, rough for everyone.
Speaker 7 (15:35):
From Fox News, Nations report card gives public schools a
failing grade.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Parents are demanding better, Well they should vehemently aggressively. If
indeed government schools can be saved. Some can, but a
lot can't.
Speaker 7 (15:54):
From the New York Post, Pennsylvania emotional support alligator banned
from Walmart after receiving VIP treatment at restaurants.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
Well, that's just racism, man.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
So somebody pulled off having an emotional support alligator at restaurants,
but Walmart was a bridge too far.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
I drew the line there. You know that reminds me.
We've got to get to this headline eventually. I want
to get this exactly right. US considers banning Iranians from
shopping at Costco during UN meetings. We're gonna ban the
damn Iranians from our costcos it's about time. What stay
(16:35):
with us? Study fines.
Speaker 7 (16:38):
Listening to joyful music can ease motion sickness, but sad
songs can make it worse.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Wow. Oh be damned.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
I have a real motion sickness problem at this point
in my life, So joyful music will help with that.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (16:55):
And finally, from the Babylon Bee quote, why won't conservatives
give up up their guns? Ask the people who continue
to shoot at them?
Speaker 2 (17:06):
Yeah? Pretty good. There is some serious statistic distortion slash
gas lighting going on on the question of political violence.
I want to get to that because you're surely going
to hear it. Those numbers.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
The FBI is going to release a whole bunch of
information in just the next couple of minutes.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
We'll have it for you on the person they taught
Armstrong and Getty.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
So Trump the way he laid out the story earlier today,
that they they've caught the person they believe almost certainly
that killed Charlie Kirk. But did he tell his dad
or did he tell a pastor that Trump returned referred
to as father. I guess we'll know pretty soon when
the FBI has their little press conference.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Two sources told CNN that the man in custody who's
been named. He's a twenty two year old Utah resident,
confessed to his father that he was the shooter.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
Okay, man, you talk about some serious, serious drama. Your
kid come. I mean dad certainly had heard the news.
Oh it was the biggest news in America and it
happened in their town, right.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
Oh my. I don't know if there's any helping you.
I don't know if there's any joy to be found
in this. You know it all due respect to Cow
and your childish glee.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
We do have childish glee. And what did I do?
Michael in your ear?
Speaker 2 (18:34):
He told me that he remembered.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
I wanted to be on the record for I remember
this of the week. So, oh, so you got set
up again.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
I couldn't.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
It couldn't be hung around my neck. I didn't want
to go horns put on me.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
I actually find this inappropriate, but I will do it
long doing cow or mocking you forgetting Cow. Well, not
the mocking for say, but I just what are we
doing here? That's a good question. I mean, Charlie Kirk
slaughtered in cold blood. They found the guy. The news
(19:04):
is just coming out. Wait, wait a second.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
What Now you're at Joe Getty's school for arguing unfairly
not no.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Absolutely put us in a position where we can say nothing. Yeah,
so else that's your fault. You're a bad wrestler, all right.
So if the president was assassinated, we're just receiving word
that president. You gotta gotta do traffic. Joe forgot cow. Seriously,
(19:36):
that's for you. Take it away my joy? Yeah, exactly good.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
You don't deserve joy, Joe being a joy thief on Friday.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
That's what this is. You got you got sucky joy.
Get better joy, That's what I'm saying. This is what.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Yeah, it's been a rough couple of days. It's the
only thing we had to look forward to. And now
you're trying to stomp that.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Out a bunch of little children. That's my story. Fun sucker. Yeah,
well there are any other shows hiring. Give me a call.
I may be a vailim, Katie may be with child,
and you're acting like this. We don't know that. Yeah,
he's not supposed to be under stressed.
Speaker 7 (20:15):
And look what you're doing, and you're bringing my blood
pressure up higher than it should be.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
I wanted some fun that's hate speech. There you go.
I'm reduced to that you're a racist. That's all I got,
the last refuge of the idiot. You're a racist, right
all right? For the love of Heaven, let's take a
fond look back at the week that was. It's cow
clips of the week.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
Right now.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Shots fired during a speech by right wing activist Charlie Kirk.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
Some disgusting coverage on MSNBC. Hateful thoughts lead to hateful words,
which then lead to hateful actions.
Speaker 6 (20:58):
This nation is in desperate need of prayer and some
kind of an intervention.
Speaker 5 (21:03):
We only have a democracy if we settle our disagreements
with words.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
This is a dark day for our state. I want
to be remembered for courage from my faith.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
I think with a high degree of certainty we have him.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
Arena's a roots cup getting on the train, Brown rises
from his seat and unprovoked, the video shows him stamp her.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
You know, when you have horrible killings, you have to
take horrible actions.
Speaker 6 (21:33):
Quodan's saying nineteen Russian drones violating its airspace.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Again guns of August? How about the drones of September?
Speaker 7 (21:41):
I'm worried so But the point is when there's dissonance
in data that you have to sort of watch how
it all works out.
Speaker 6 (21:48):
The message apparently bears the signature of President Trump and
comes with an outline of what appears to be a
naked woman.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Hire drugs, Israeli airstrikes targeting Hamas leadership and Bill hawk Hutter.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Did you get the targets you were seeking?
Speaker 7 (22:03):
If we didn't get them this time, we'll get them
the next time.
Speaker 5 (22:07):
An Athron's report card for twelfth graders across the US
shows reading and mascors dropped to historic lows.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Right, So I don't know the two.
Speaker 6 (22:18):
Baby raccoons immediately, I just started doing CPR on.
Speaker 5 (22:22):
It, because there's probably a lot of people out there
that still only know me from those viral clips. A
guy screaming tiger blood and winning and under nonsense, watching in.
Speaker 6 (22:34):
The stands his now favorite player on his favorite teams
had just hit a whole and Andrew his dad got
that baseball. A woman started berating, felt well cleaning the
ball was hurt.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
What was she screaming at you? I can't even repeat
that on air. She's very vulgar. I may have suggested
earlier in the show that the little boy should go
to a baseball game with a real man and Ted
can attend a fat show.
Speaker 6 (23:00):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
Wow, that was worse than the retelling. Then it was originally.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
At least the first two thirds of that was the darkest.
Cow Ever, it was a black angus, but I mean,
holy cow.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
It was the clips of the week. This has been
a violent week. This will have lasting repercussions on the
political body in one way or the other.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Yeah, of what sort. It's so hard to know.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
You had within a couple of days of each other
the most ubiquitous, ubiquitous killing videos I can remember. I mean,
the Kennedy video gets shown a lot, but for most
of us is long before you know, we were born.
It's a you know, it's a it's a historical artifact,
(23:55):
but something that happened, you know right now, Seeing a
human being being killed two videos within a couple of
days that, geez what eighty percent of the country saw.
That's going to leave some sort of mark.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
I don't know what, right, Yeah, and you could you
can answer that in a number of different ways. I
think it is notable and I almost hate to go
to this, but it's true that the first was directly
related to progressive policies, and the second was almost Shirt
(24:31):
certainly a progressive activist pulling a trigger. And that gets
to the statistic that's being thrown around a lot and
Hanson I think he's working on the audio about the
percentage of extremest violence that is right wing versus left wing,
and a lot of lefties are pushing it. It is
one of the most almost hilariously dishonest expressions of statistics
(24:57):
I've ever heard in my life. And will explain why
as soon we get the audio.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
So the name is out of the killer. I have
no interest. I don't want to know it. I don't
want to remember it. I am not going to remember
the names of scumbag killer, So I'm just not going
to do that anymore. You know, a part of what
motivates them, I think I would agree, is this one
(25:24):
different made that it should live in infamy with John Wilkes.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald?
Speaker 4 (25:30):
Maybe, yeah, exactly, Although even that's tough if your goal
is to be Lee Harvey Oswald, somebody people talk about
sixty years later, right mentioning your name. I don't know.
That's a difficult one. But so as the news is
coming out, that he he kills Charlie Kirk. He jumps
(25:53):
off that roof maybe you've seen that video that's out now,
jumps off the roof, runs across the lawn, apparently, gets
in some sort of vehicle, hops on the interstate, drives home.
Then at some point guilt gets to him or something
and he tells his dad, and his dad convinces him
to turn himself in. So Dad sounds like a completely reasonable,
decent person. Dad is going to tell authorities a lot
(26:14):
about what his kid was.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Like in his thoughts and political beliefs.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
I would guess right, And I suspect that we end
up in a place of just sadness. Oh yeah, yeah,
a twenty two year old personality still forming, brain still forming.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
As we've learned, your ability to measure the good and bad,
the risk and reward of what you're doing, really doesn't solidify.
And most people, especially males, until mid twenties, mid to
late twenties. Probably I'm guessing. I don't know, and I
will correct this the second I find out. It's entirely possible.
We have an impressionable young man swept up by the
(26:51):
ideology that's been fed into his head over and over again,
and he made the most horrific decision another human being
can make.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
Yeah, we've had this experience over and over. When it
turns out to just be a regular numb nut who
did a dumb thing, it's just so depressing. It almost
makes it easier if it's some complicated, multi country James
Bond like sort of.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
No, it's just some dope who had a gun. Very depressing, right,
made a dopey decision. Anyway, Charlie's legacy will live on,
and I want to talk about that specifically. A lot
of young people have reached out to us via email
and said what am I supposed to do now? And
(27:38):
I do want to talk about that. But speaking of legacies,
a word from our friends at Trust and Will. This
is important. It's not fun, Judy and I just went
through the process, but it's incredible. It's a great feeling
once you get it done, get security and peace of
mind by making an estate plan now, so the people
you love aren't doing to lengthy, expensive, bitter legal battles
(27:59):
over what you're wishes would be.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
Yeah, and once you're done, it's done, and you got
all your important documents in one place with bank level
encryption by the way, and you can adjust things as
you go forward over the years. Again, starting at just
one hundred and ninety nine dollars, Manager Truster will online
with live customer support through chat, phone or email to
make it easy for you.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
Yeah, you've heard big expensive figures of what this costs
to do. Again, it starts at just one hundred ninety
nine bucks. Secure your assets, protect your loved ones with
trust and will get all your questions answered state specific.
Of course, they guide you step by step and you
get twenty percent off your estate planned documents by visiting
trustinwill dot com slash Armstrong. That's Trustwill dot com slash Armstrong.
(28:41):
As the father of two teenage boys, I'm pretty intrigued
by the drama around this kid. He's twenty two season adult.
Do you said he's twenty two? Yeah, according to report,
But you know you're a child, Ellen, his dad and
his dad convinced him and turn himself in. It'll be
(29:02):
interesting to know if this is one of those dad
knew he son was troubled and had been trying to
deal with it for years, or a complete shock to
him or whatever. Right. Wow, that's some heavy drama, man. Yeah, yep,
terrible awful. Mailbag's going to be pretty good, though. We
can get to that. What do you think was the
(29:23):
whole turn yourself in thing?
Speaker 4 (29:30):
Start fire? And if the kid says no, you call
the police. I suppose probably.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
I'm guessing they had a reasonably good relationship and Dad
convinced him there is no good that can come of this.
The least evil now is turn yourself in. And for
whatever reasons, the young man agreed, I can't imagine.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
It's interesting. I'll shut up about this so we can
get the mailbag. The kid had a fairly well thought
out plan for escaping to.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Murder another human being, an escape exactly.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
But nothing beyond the get in your car and drive
home apparently.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
And was compelled by his soul or something to confess
what he'd done.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
Did he think there wouldn't be cameras that would lead
to him getting caught? He thought he could go home
and then just go back up about living his life.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
I can't imagine, I mean neither.
Speaker 4 (30:28):
Okay, So mailbag on the wais stay here.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Man.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
The USA today has the greatest chart out about adult
milestones and when we used to hit them. Going back
to the seventies and when young people hit them now
and it's about like you'd expect. H okay, I'll look
forward to that. Here's your freedom loving quote of the day.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
And before I unleash it, you know who's overjoyed giggling
at the assassination of Charlie Kirktin and Hjen Ping. Oh,
yeah to it. George Keenan, the statesman, the diplomat said
this in nineteen forty six. And by the way, the
Latin phrase modus vivendi means essentially an agreement, a solid agreement,
(31:17):
a shared understanding. In summary, we have here a political force.
He's talking about the Soviet Union, committed fanatically to the
belief that with the US there there can be no
permanent modus vivendi. That it is desirable and necessary that
the internal harmony of our society be disrupted, our traditional
(31:37):
way of life be destroyed, the international authority of our
state be broken. And they've been committed to tearing our
society apart since the days of the Soviet Union and
continuing in Vladimir Putin's Russia through a variety of means. Anyway,
don't fall for it, mailbag.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
One interesting thing I heard pointed out yesterday kind of
you know, ironic with what you just said. Charlie kirk
was huge on TikTok. One of the reasons so many
young men in the country saw highlights of him arguing
with people in college and gravitated toward him was all
the fabulous TikTok videos.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Yeah, which is a Chinese spy instrument. Right, So drop
a notemail bag at Armstrong and Giddy dot com. Sometimes
I will lead up to the biggest, most important, my
favorite email, but then we are squeezed for time. So
I'm going to jump right into Aiden's note. Guys, I'm
a college student at Sacramento State University. Actually met you
Jack not long ago. He was absolutely devastated by Charlie
(32:34):
kirksch murder on Wednesday, he writes, and I'm attending a
vigil to remember him this afternoon, hosted by the local
Turning Point USA chapter. I've been following for a while.
Really admired his mission to spend spread truth on campuses
and also shares faith with everyone. And now he's gone,
but his message is alive and well. I wanted to
ask what can I, as a college student do to
continue his work? Has inspired me and many of my
(32:56):
friends to take a stand for what we believe. And
I want to know what you think the best way
to do this is, and he says, I know students
cross the country feel the same way. And I pray
that God uses even this horrific event to spread the
truth in a greater way. Thank you for the note,
and thank you for the question. I'm going to give
you a very brief answer, Jack, certainly if you'd like to,
(33:19):
and then I'm going to read another email that is
the answer to that question. My very simple answer is
the assassin's veto, a more horrifying version of the Heckler's veto,
can be answered in two ways. Number One, continue and
amplify what the victim advocated with all the energy you
(33:44):
can muster. And if you get confused, do the opposite
of what the assassin wants to happen. Don't let them
achieve their goal, and their goal is obviously to silence
a particular point of view. And then this from Star,
which I thought was terrific. Charlie kirk Guy's as tragic
(34:06):
and horrifying as his assassination is. In our fear for democracy,
what would Charlie do How would Charlie want his murder
to benefit our political discourse? Imagine how Jesus followers felt
about the future of his ministry after witnessing his crucifixion.
How could they have not thought that the wisdom Jesus
was spreading was all but dead. I looked up the
definition of martyr. Charlie certainly fits the definition of a
(34:29):
political martyr. So what's the value of being a martyr?
For Charlie? He wanted to be remembered for the courage
of his faith. For the rest of us, we needed
to continue to use the example he set, share his videos,
amplify the method he used. We likely won't find another
Charlie anytime soon, but if we can use his passing
to get younger people to understand the value of his approach,
then maybe the voices of thousands may be able to
(34:51):
carry on his political ministry, as difficult as it may
be to do less focus on the fear for our
democracy and hammer more on the value of methods. How
did civil rights leaders respond after Mlk's assassination. How did
Jesus followers react to the crucifixion? They show us the
path to use this tragedy to crawl out of this
dark place we find ourselves in. If followers, regardless of
(35:14):
whether or agrees or disagrees with Charlie's messages, let us
become disciples of Charlie's method civil dialogue over political issues.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
Yeah, we'll see how that plays out. As listening to
a podcast yesterday, were there to pointing out that so
Charlie Kirk's biggest audience was young people and specifically young men.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
And are those young men going.
Speaker 4 (35:33):
To you know, gravitate towards somebody else who wants to
have reasonable debate or are they going to are they
going to be pushed into the more flamethrower type young man?
Podcasters influencers out there say, see, they want you dead.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
They're out to get you. The only way we can
do it is fight fire with fire. Is that right away?
It's going to go? The answer is yes, both of those.
Got another great email on that very topic, which we'll
get to a little bit later on. But yeah, some
people absolutely take the path of anger and violence. Yeah,
and what person forgate, That's what we don't know. It's undeniable, Yeah,
no doubt.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
Okay, we got a lot a lot more to come.
