It's KFI Am sixty and you're listeningto the Conway Show on demand on the
iHeartRadio app for Keep an Eye inUcla. They've cleaned up the encampment.
There's very little evidence that that evenexisted this morning, that that war zone
was going on. They hired probablyone hundred people to go in there and

(00:21):
wipe that out, and all ofthat junk has gone. It was one
dumpster after another after another. Atractor came in a bunch of people cleaning
up and now there's no evidence thatthat war zone even happened this morning.
None. I can't see any.Now they've got to make sure that the

(00:42):
grass. The grass has gone twoweeks without water, without fertilizer, without
being trimmed, without being cut.So now they've got to prep that grass
up again. I'm sure they'll coordinateoff while they recede and water and nourish
that grass, because right now it'sstained with a bunch of boxes where the

(01:03):
sleeping bags and the tents were, and so the grass dye is underneath and
it's going to have to come back. So give it a week or so,
it'll be back. It's growing season, it's spring and the grass will
be back and UCLA will look asbeautiful as it did two weeks ago.
But that black eye that happened thismorning at UCLA will live for a long

(01:25):
long time. And we'll have anyupdates for you on KFI. I'm sure
mo Kelly at seven o'clock will havehis opinion on what happened late last night
early this morning, so stay tunedfor that Moe Kelly seven o'clock. Let's
talk about tipping. Tipping has becomea real sore thumb for a lot of
people. They don't know what totip, they don't know how much to

(01:46):
tip. A lot of people arebroke so they can't dip anything. And
then a lot of people are pissedthat they're asking for tips. At the
counter, you order a coffee, coffee's four bucks, and now they want
to tip. And a lot ofpeople when you know, you're used to
getting service at a table and that'swhy you tip somebody. And now when

(02:07):
you go to tip somebody, theoptions are fifteen, eighteen, twenty,
twenty two, and I saw twentyfive percent. One of the buttons you
can press is twenty five percent tip. That's a lot. That's a lot,
but let's see what the rule ofthumb is. It always changes.
We got to keep up with thetimes. So let's find out what the

(02:28):
new rule of thumb is and wherethe guidelines are here when it comes to
tipping, because tipping is a bigdeal still. Mark O'Brien shared his experience
when he tried to leave a tipbased on a restaurant's suggested tipping guidelines.
You know those standard numbers a restaurantoffers you at checkout. Well, something
wasn't adding up there. Ten percentof twenty seven dollars is not six dollars,

(02:51):
eighteen percent of twenty seven dollars isnot seven dollars. Twenty percent is
not eight dollars. Okay, sothe mass was off on the receipt where
it says how much twenty percent Ifyour bill is thirty dollars, twenty percent
is not nine dollars. You don'thave to be a math genius to see
that. The fuzzy math prompting thousandsof comments like restaurants need to pay their

(03:13):
employees, not us. Another personwriting tipping is out of control. The
payment device in the video says itcalculates the tip after taxes and before discounts,
the restaurant told us Mark received adiscount for an entree. He sent
back, Okay, I get that. If you're going to get a discount,
you got to tip on the fullprice, Like if you go to
chick fil A. Actually, chickFila is a bad idea. If you

(03:35):
go to Elteredo and you have acoupon two for one on Tuesdays, I
don't know if that exists or not, and you get two meals for the
price one, you got to tip. As if you bought two meals,
you can't tip just because you knowyour your meal is now fifty percent of
what it was. You got tipon the entire amount what it would have
been before the coupon. Well,it wasn't charged for the cost, it

(03:55):
was included in the tip calculation. The restaurant telling us this is not We
have a disclaimer that alerts guests thatthe tip is calculated before discounts. We
also allow for a customer tip forguest convenience. And according to Mark,
that wasn't really made clear to him. Do we really read the fine print
on these things? No, wedon't. We absolutely don't. I like

(04:16):
to tip. I I sometimes youknow, you forget, not at a
restaurant, but if you're at acounter and you're paying for coffee or a
slice of pizza or something, ifit's on a on a credit card,
sometimes you know they don't even offerit. They don't offer the options sometimes.
But I remember being in Oregon overChristmas, and at Christmas you got

(04:42):
to really step up the tips. That's when people are, you know,
buying family and friends gifts, andyou got to be generous to people are
on the holidays, or at leastyou should be. So I remember being
in Oregon and I had the oilchanged in our car and it came out
to about I think it was sixffty dollars, and so they gave I
paid with the cash, and shegave me the change, which was forty

(05:06):
dollars. And so I went outto give the mechanic a the forty dollars
tip, which was left over fromone hundred dollars, knowing quite well that
Walmart employees are not allowed to takeany tips. So I had forty bucks
and I was going to offer itto him, knowing that he can't take

(05:29):
it. So kind of a douchebagmove, right, And so I gave
him the forty dollars. I go, hey, Merry Christmas. He takes
it and he puts in his pocket, and I'm like, whoa, whoa,
whoa, whoa, wait, Ithought you guys couldn't take tips.
What's going on? And he goes, as long as nobody knows about it,
we can take it. And mywife is like, that's probably the
most embarrassing scene that I've ever witnessed. That you knew that he couldn't take

(05:57):
a tip, so you offered hima big one to be a big shot,
and he took it. He tookit and stuck it in his pocket.
Stuck in his pocket. Yeah, that's a pretty bad Christmas. Pretty
bad. I remember that as beinga wild Christmas. Hey, the La
County Fair is going on. Itstarts, I believe it starts tomorrow.
The Li County Fair starts tomorrow.Krozer, you live out there near the

(06:18):
La County Fairy? Do you go? Are you a big fan of the
La County Fair? We went lastyear. We like the spring instead of
the fall La County Fair because ofthe heat. I do teck of it,
but yeah, we went last year. We'll go this ship. We
went last year because we went togo see Mondo doing the GUALWK thing.
Oh, and you're gonna go againthis Saturday? Is gonna be there.
I don't know if we're gonna gothis Saturday, so don't. We're gonna
make We might be. We're probablygonna be at the Renaissance Fair this Saturday.

(06:38):
Right on, man, you getyou get out there. It's gonna
be a busy a couple of weeksfor us. But can you hear the
La County Fair from your house? No? But we can hear, like
when the drags are going on,but you can't. Yeah, we hit
it. Wow, and that's that'sfive six eight miles something like that.
Wow, that's a lot, buddy. I love the La County Fair.
I'm glad that it's happening now inthe spring, as Krozer said, as

(07:00):
post of September, when it's onehundred and forty degrees out and I'm sure
they did that because of the heat. But it is cool to get out
there the Eli County Fair. Kidslove it. They enjoy it. I've
had some of my better times withmy daughter taking her out there and just
going on rides and enjoying it.It was great. Yeah, I really
like that. And Mondo's going tobe there on Saturday with his guacamole,

(07:20):
and he's going to be He's enteredin the guacamole contest at the Eli County
Fair and he's wanted three times inthe past. He got second last year,
and that's kind of why I'm notgoing to go, because I think
I'm bad luck. Oh I see, or protesting. But he won three
years in a row. He gotthe blue ribbon three years in a row.
And then on Sunday, his guacamoleis going to be available at lucid

(07:43):
Or Brewery off the seventy one andSo Cal Boulevard or So Cal Canyon,
and he's selling him ahead of time, but he's also selling some that day.
But if you're going to go thatday, damn sure get their first
thing. As soon as he getsthere. Yes, it goes quick.
We got there last year or lasttime he did it a couple months ago
and we got there probably an hourhour and a half after he got there

(08:03):
and gone gone. Yeah, itmoves quickly. So at Sinko Demo,
he's going to be a Luchador Breweryat noon right off the seventy one for
you. I know we have ahuge listenership out in that area, a
lot of people listening to KFI inthat area. And he'll be there at
noon. It's right off the seventyone and so Cow Boulevard. It's not
spelled SOCl. I think it's likeso oqu E l sokel Canyon and so

(08:28):
get out there at noon on Sundayon Sinko to mile noon to meet Mondo
and taste is pretty awesome. Guacamole. You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on
demand from KFI Am six forty EveryThursday at six twenty we talk about electric
cars. If you're familiar with theprogram Thursdays at six twenty, that is

(08:52):
when Dean Sharp is otherwise engaged. He'll be he's usually on six twenty with
us, but he's going to aa concert tonight and so beyond with us
tomorrow night at five at five o'clocktomorrow. Wow, that's great. Well,
I'll talk about the electric cars hereagain. Thursday, six twenty are
electric car segment. Tesla is inthe news. They cut their entire super

(09:16):
charger team in the latest round oflayoffs. That can't be good news.
Going on Tesla is gutting the teambehind its electric vehicle charging stations. Yesterday,
Elon Musk announced he's laying off theentire group responsible for building its supercharger
stations. That's nearly five hundred people. Wow. Musk says Tesla will slow

(09:37):
down construction of new charging stations andfocus on upkeep of existing charges. Tesla
has ten thousand superchargers in the stateof California alone, but the state's relying
on a dramatic expansion to keep upwith the number of evs on the road.
Speaking of EV there's a study outthere that finds electric vehicles they lose

(10:01):
value more quickly than gasoline powered vehicles. That possible. Everyone knows the minute
you drive a new car off thelot, its value depreciates, but for
electric vehicles the drop is dramatic, ten times faster than traditional cars. According
to a recent study showing the averageused car price for an EV fell nearly

(10:22):
thirty two percent in the past year, compared with a decline of just over
three percent for gas powered cars.Do you hear that thirty two percent decline
in value for electric cars three percentfor gas powered vehicles? Fell nearly thirty
two percent in the past year, compared with a decline of just over three
percent for gas powered cars. Finally, some good news for people like me

(10:45):
they drive gas powered vehicles or fortyyear old car that's right, exactly.
I don't think we have an electriccar on the show except for Mark Thompson.
Does anybody drive an electric car?And now I guess you could say
STEP's got the hybrid, but oh, that's right, that's right. You
know. I think it's kind ofone of those things where it's the process
of the newness of the cars. You know, if you're going to get
would you get a if you weregoing to get an electric car, would

(11:07):
have used electric car? Be yourchoice? No? Probably for many reasons
to me in my head, becausechances are the technology is not going to
be up to date right exactly,so fast moving right now that it's not
able to retain what's in it.And I'm suspicious of a guy that gives
up a car like you go toCarMax and there's a twenty twenty three car

(11:28):
there, I'm like, hmm,how many problems with the battery did this
cat have that I'm going to have? Now? If I buy that car,
now, I'd like to buy.If I buy an electric car,
which I'm not even close to rightnow, I would buy a brand new
because I would want to warranty andI would want a you know, some
backup in case that battery went onthe fritz. But I think if you've

(11:48):
I heard Shannon Farren talk about thisearlier, if you are interested in an
electric car, you've already bought it. You've already purchased it. I think
there are very few people who areon the fence or either an electric car
guy or you're not. And Jennand I have talked about it a lot.

(12:09):
Yeah, but I think that you'rea perfect example. You know,
I've talked about a lot with mywife as well. They's just talk.
We haven't purchased anything. But butbut I will say this croze. When
people buy an electric car, it'sit is like hairin or crack to them.
They can never go back. Itdoes definitely feel that way. They're
kind of sycophantic about it. Yeah, Like I know that there are a

(12:33):
lot of people who are not thrilledwith Elon Musk politics, but yet they
cannot get out of a Tesla that'stheir favorite car, and they don't care
if Elon Musk turns into Hitler, they're still buying a Tesla. Like the
piece in like the piece that youwere playing is there was one guy who
was trying to get rid of hisTesla, and and he says he's gonna
he's gonna lose thirty thousand dollars.Wow, because it's because the price is

(12:56):
going down. And the next thinghe does, he buys another Tesla.
Yeah, you know that's another electricYeah. Yeah, I'm waiting for the
Chinese electric cars to get here. Those are supposed to be unbelievable. So
well, I'm a big fan ofthe United States. I also like a
good deal. Yeah, I thinkthat's pretty reasonable. Most of us,
you know, film pretty similar thingof good deals have I don't know if

(13:18):
you've been to Walmart or Target latelyor maybe Best Buy. Have you seen
how inexpensive these big screen TVs arenowadays? Oh it's ridiculous. Oh my
god. I saw one the otherday, seventy five inch big screen TV
at Walmart for three hundred and ninetyfive hours. Oh my god. I
couldn't believe it. Three hundred ninetyfive is what you would pay for a

(13:39):
standard forty two inch set years ago. Oh my god. Yeah, you'd
be lucky to get that. That'sright. And now it's a seventy five
inch TV, which tells me thetechnology is about to expand that these they
got to get rid of these becausethe new technology it's going to be unbelievable.
And I think you could probably drawa comparison to electric vehicle. Yeah,
right, exactly. TV's really startedto kind of coming to their own

(14:01):
technologically with the thinness of and theflat screen and all that stuff about twenty
twenty five years ago. And Ithink electric vehicles are in that same place
where it's gonna take another five toten years before they get close to being
cheap. I remember buying our firstflat screen, you know, digital TV,
and it was it was a projectionTV. There was a back it

(14:22):
was back lay, and it wastwenty two hundred dollars. Yeah, now
you can't get rid of that TV. I bought it. I just three
years ago, we bought a bigI think it's like fifty five inch taken
away. It was like, ohhey, and it costs like a couple
grand. Now it's like that's nothing, right, but but but I will
say this, when we bought ourTV for twenty two hundred box and it
was stupid because it really, youknow, couldn't it was. It was

(14:43):
probably twenty years ago. I reallyshouldn't spend that much on a TV.
But man, when you spend thatkind of money on a TV, you
feel obligated to look at it.We watch it all day and all night.
And the other thing is is thatif you're bearing in mind, if
you're going to buy something that's thathigh technology that changes so fast, don't
get it on credit. Yeah you'reright, you're going to be paying on

(15:03):
that thing for years when it's noteven worth a tenth of that. And
I think to your point, Ithink the reason, you know, people,
I think the advancement electric cars ismuch quicker than gas powered vehicles.
There's been no advancement in gas powervehicles. There's you know, the apps
that you can play with on thedashboard, but how much time is consumed

(15:24):
with the apps? I mean, there's probably ten apps on my wife's car.
I think she may have touched oneor two exactly. There's a lot
of well, you know, whistlesand bells on that car that she's never
even looked at. Because you don'thave time. I mean, you know,
to operate everything, all the theaccessories and all the additions that come
with my wife's car. You,I mean, you would have to be

(15:46):
like a pilot, like a likea NASA pilot to know how to operate
all those things. And who hasthe time. You get in and you
do what you usually do. Youturn the radio on and you drive.
That's what most people do, orthey talk on the phone and they drive.
But the all the other apps orthe music, you know, and
all that stuff, nobody has timeto for all that crap. You're listening
to Tim Conway Junior on demand fromKFI A six forty. All right,

(16:10):
let's talk about the voters here whoare in some trouble. There's voters out
there that have been caught on videotape, either by helicopter or drone, dumping
trash into the ocean like animals, the animals that they are polluting our oceans,
like this video, sparking outreach andprompting an investigation by state law enforcement.

(16:32):
Florida Fish and Wildlife officials telling ABCNews they've identified this group of young
voters. Watch as they dump trashright into South Florida waters. Where are
these people from. They literally tooktrash cans full of trash and dumped it
right into the ocean offshore in nowFlorida. We know where the violation occurred.
It's just a matter of falling throughand applying the appropriate charges. Now.

(16:56):
It happened off the coast of bokerRatone over the weekend. The video
showing the group boating in large swells, dumping two garbage cans full of trash
in the ocean. The most beautifulbeaches in the world and these cats,
these young people, just throwing twofull trash cans right into the ocean,
even appearing to celebrate. Drone videocapturing the debris floating on top of the

(17:18):
water. We're upset. Our jobis to protect Florida's resources. The owner
of the company that shot the videoand recorded the illegal act, Wavy Boats,
telling ABC News they spotted the boatleaving an event called Boca Bash.
They filmed this boat full of minersengaged in underage drinking and eventually dumping all
their trash into the ocean. Ohokay, starting to come together. I

(17:41):
somewhat get it now, rich parents, well, drinkers that don't want to
be caught with the bottles, theempty bottles. You should even that,
right, boat. That's right, that's exactly right. It's not their boat.
I imagine the police were notified immediately. Then a lot of experience on
the high seas for these young lads, then allegedly rejoining the party. Florida

(18:03):
Fish and Wildlife telling us that actionslike these harm not only the environment but
the livelihoods of the local community. It's littering. It's polluting the environments,
doctor Avio. So it's littering.Yeah, it's the most unstrung weak work.
It's litering. Yeah, he's putthat together for us, if you
know, if any any of uswere unable to understand the story up until

(18:26):
that point. By the way,Tim, yeah, oh yeah, Kroz
we're gonna go to Krozer his analysis. What do you think about the story?
Bub, Tim, That right, there was littering. Thank you,
thank you, Michael Krocher. Everybody, Oh it's littering, okay, thank
you very much. Oh, it'slittering. It's polluting the environment. Okay.

(18:48):
That guy's great, throwing things onthe ocean that shouldn't be in the
ocean, all right, it's pollutingthe environment. It's not good for fish,
good for anybody. It's stuff theydiscarded. I'm well, it's littering,
it's polluting the environment. It cancause significant damage to our marine resources.
There's several levels of violations here.No arrests have been made. Depending

(19:11):
on the charges, they could befacing civil penalties, fines, even jail
time. Yeah, awsome in jail. What the hell? Wake them up?
Wake them up in life. Theyneed to be woken up. A
lot of people are sleeping through life. The La City Council has ordered a
study into the two Asian elephants thatdied at the Lazo. I think there
were sixty seven years old and fiftythree years old. The studies out.

(19:33):
The study has just been completed abouta half hour ago, and I have
it for you here. It's onlyfour words. Here's the result of the
study. They were very old.Is that it littering? Yeah, that's
the end of sixty seven and fiftythree years old old elephants. Old old

(19:57):
elephants. Hey look horrible to seethem go. But sixty seven that's a
nice run for an elephant, nicerun for a human. Sixty seven.
All right, let's talk about theBoeing whistle blowers. Every time somebody blows
the whistle on Boeing, they die. A Boeing whistle blower who alleged Spirit
leadership had ignored manufacturing defects on theseven thirty seven Max has suddenly died.

(20:22):
This is a second Boeing whistleblower tohave died in the last two months as
the company has come under increased scrutiny. Okay, what's the lesson here?
Stop blowing the whistle on Boeing orelse you're going to die. That's the
lesson. That's what I take outof it. I would never blow the
whistle on Boeing. Now if Ihad evidence on my computer of any wrongdoing

(20:44):
with Boeing, dill lked. Youwould not have evidence on the comter delite
good night. Seattle Times first reportedthat Joshua Dean, a quality auditor at
supplier Spirit Aerosystems, died Tuesday atjust forty five years old. Yeah,
he had some kind of a gangreenientinfection that took over his body from a
fast spreading infection. Did I previouslyfile the complaint with the Federal Aviation Administration?

(21:11):
Ah, that was a big mistake. Don't rat out Boeing, They'll
kill you. Allegend there was quoteserious and gross misconduct by senior quality management
of the seven thirty seven production line. That's old school when when you blow
the whistle on a company and thenthey kill you. Yeah, that's old
school. Yeah, that's like, you know, nineteen ten, nineteen twenties
mentality. You got to give itto them that they that they do sort

(21:34):
of live a century ago. Whenanyone tries to write them out, they
just kill him. Dean was laidoff last year and filed a complaint with
the Department of Labor, alleging thathis termination was retaliation for raising concerns about
the company's manufacturing plant. The newscomes as journalists and activist Corey Doctor reports
that in a non union shop inCharleston, South Carolina, where Boeing seven

(21:57):
eighty seven Dreamliner is manu factured, there's a cage full of defective parts that
have been pulled from production because theyare not airworthy. I would not keep
reporting that. I would put itup. I tuck that in a drawer
somewhere, say reporter, yes, that's right. I would stop. I
would stop blowing the whistle on Boeing. They kill you if you do it.

(22:21):
Got it, You gotta stop doingit. Doctor reports that hundreds of
those parts were secretly pulled from thatcage and installed on operating aircraft. Yeah,
there's the lesson today. Don't blowthe whistle on Boeing. If you
want to see your grandkids grow up. They'll kill you. They kill you.
So look, you can fight that. Yeah allegedly okay, but you

(22:45):
can fight it and say, oh, they're not going to kill me.
I'll blow the whistle. They're gonnakill you too. Stop blowing the whistle
on bowing. All right, that'sthe lesson here. Don't work for Boeing
and then blow the w so they'llkill you. You're listening to Tim Conway
Junior on Demya from KFI AM sixforty. Don't forget. The Beach Life

(23:07):
Festival is going on this weekend. That'll be cool. The Fork Reporter Neil
Savadri will be doing a live remoteon Saturday, so you'll see a great
concert and a live remote from theFork Reporter and the Fork Report Saturday from
two to five pm. And he'sa big fan of Star Wars, Neil

(23:27):
Savedra, so he'll get into theMay the fourth be with you, and
that he'll do that whole run withyou. He enjoys that. That'll be
great. You'll like it all right, McDonald's. I've noticed that the lines
are shorter at a lot of fastfood places, but maybe the exception is
in and out. I think they'vebeen longer than in the past, and

(23:49):
I think it has to do withpricing. But McDonald's, I've noticed the
line has been shorter, sometimes nonexistent. What used to be during the
pandemic twenty people in line. Nowsometimes it's just two or three deep,
which I enjoy. But I guesssome people are you know, don't have
the dough for McDonald's anymore, andthat's that's a big deal, big deal

(24:12):
for their stock to Fast foodies arefed up, taking to social media to
rant about what they see as nonvalue meals. Seventeen dollars for three filet
of fishes at McDonald's Are you kiddingme? After two years of menu price
hikes? Wait minute, I thinkthe bigger story is this. What seems
like a relatively young, probably thinwoman is choking down three filet of fish

(24:40):
three for three filet of fishes atMcDonald's. Are you kidding me? Yeah,
I don't know. I'd like tosee. I've never had a filet
of fish in my life, butI think three is a lot a lot
of fley of fish. After twoyears of menu price hikes, big companies
finally feeling the pushback from diners.McDonald's profits falling short of expectations are rare.

(25:03):
Stumble for the Golden arches. Andby the way, you know,
I like McDonald's. I love theirfries. I go there often, I
don't know, maybe once or twicea week, and I've never had a
file of fish. I don't thinkturning to McDonald's for your with your fish
dollar is the way to go.It's good with Chick fil a sauce.

(25:26):
You like it with no Chick fila sauce, No Chick fil a sauce.
Do you like the filet fish?Do you eat that? Yeah?
You do? Yeah, it's prettygood with tartar sauce. No, I
don't. I don't dig that withChick fil a sauce. What Bellio is
referencing is there's a video going aroundonline social media where this young lady who's

(25:51):
working at Chick fil A and peopleare ordering, and she asked if you
want sauce. They said barbecue orbuffalo, and she goes, Nope,
no Chick fil A sauce. Andit's hugely popular. It's taken off like
Gangbusters, millions and millions of views. If you want to see it,
you just go to YouTube and typein no Chick fil A sauce. That's

(26:12):
all you can do is type inno chick full at sauce and let's see
if it comes up here. Boom, there it is. Your drink,
Hello the Maid please, no chickthe lay sauce for your drink? Hell
a Maid please alemonade? All right? And then can I also have barbecue

(26:33):
sauce? Or do you have likea buffalo sauce? No chick the lay
sauce. It's one of the greatvideos. It's turned into a dance and
a whole thing. Laces, checkthe lacens. Lemonade your drink, A

(26:57):
Maid please, alemonade? And thencan I also barbacue sauce? Or do
you have like a buffalo sauce? No Chick fil A sauce. She's just
completely confused why somebody would order chickenwithout Chick fil A sauce, which,
by the way, is sensational.Chick fil A sauce is great. It's

(27:21):
so great that they offer it atstores. Now you can go to your
local grocery store and get Tick filA sauce. Tick fil A sauce.
What a great video. Ding dongwith type. Anyway, let's get back
to McDonald's here and what's going onwith McDonald's. The CEO on Tuesday noting
today's consumer is being picky about howthey spend their money and the company needs

(27:41):
to be laser focused on affordability.Has the consumer finally spoken and now they
have to focus on value. Theconsumer is frustrated by the prices they are
paying at fast food restaurant and theyare absolutely voting with their feet opting,
he says, for Dominoes or BurgerKing, which both exceeded XP wow,
or cooking. I would have neverguessed those people are leaving McDonald's for Burger

(28:06):
King and Dominoes or cooking at homewhere food inflation is cooling. Inflation measuring
food at home rose just one pointtwo percent in March versus a year ago,
compared to four point two percent forfood away from home, which includes
fast food. Those customers are increasinglyrevolting at repeated price increases. As for
