(00:00):
It's KMF. I am six fortyand you're listening to The Conway Show on
demand on the iHeartRadio app. Belliocame in during the break and said,
Hey, guess who follows you onInstagram? And I said, I don't
know Lebron James and she sort oflaughed said no, no, Really seriously,
I said, I don't know PresidentBiden. She said no. I
(00:24):
said who and she said Ellen Lava, Like, oh, that's cool.
She's from Channel seven. She's oneof the anchors on Channel seven. Ellen
Lava. She's great. Yeah,I like everybody over there. Mark Brown,
Uh, David Ono, Dallas Rains, Dave Tuons, David Coons,
(00:47):
aw man with the cars. Thatguy is the best. Everybody knows that.
I don't even have to mention him. Everybody knows it. Everybody knows
it, all right. The InlandEmpire. If you don't know what the
Inland Empire is, it's sort ofa San Bernardino County, Moreno Valley,
Menafee, Corona, Ontario. Whatelse is out there? Temecula I think
(01:10):
is part of the Inland Empire.Riverside, I think Rancho Cucamonga. I
think they consider that absolutely. Yeah, upland Fontana, Colton. What else
is that? The Claremont all right, But though that makes up I think
most of the cities, most ofthe town's villages, if you would,
of the Inland Empire. And Ilike the Inland Empire, and when I
(01:34):
drive through there, it feels likethe San Fernando Valley in nineteen seventy two.
And I missed the nineteen seventy twoValley. I enjoyed that. But
the Inland Empire has that vibe.Big, wide streets, not a lot
of congestion. With the exception ofRancho Cucamonga. The homes are fairly far
apart. Maybe a little bit ofClaremont, but a little bit. But
(01:59):
you're you live in a great areaClaremont, I absolutely do. Yeah.
I love that hurry very fortunate.Yeah, And that's that vibe. Without
giving away where Krozier exactly lives, but the vibe of having a green space
or a park right across the streetfrom you is awesome. It makes such
a difference. There's nobody lives acrossthe street from you. No, no,
(02:20):
it's a park, yep. Itis. That's beautiful yep. And
that's where it should be. Theydon't crowd the houses in Now with development,
there's a house on every inch. And it's funny because that park that
we have, it's a part ofour HOA, so it's not a public
park. And it's interesting to watchlike not us because we don't, but
it's interesting to see some of theresidents in their homes. They'll go after
(02:42):
people that go to their go tothe park. Really yeah, yeah,
yeah, they don't like them ontheir park. Park. They'll take their
dog and they'll unleash their dog inthe park. And you'll see some of
the neighbors in the in the otherhouses, they'll go up to go,
hey, you can't. First ofall, you can't be here. Do
you live in this area because thisis a private park. And then and
then your dogs off leash. Yeah, they called the cops on them all
the time. God, my mom, my mom's dream to be able to
(03:06):
yell at people from the house acrossthe street. God, she loved it.
But that is a private park. Are there signs posted there are?
Yeah? And keep off keep offthe blooming r h o A fees that's
what pays to keep that place inshape. Oh that that's great. I
like that. Park. Do youever use it? Yeah, yeah,
yeah, you do it. Theyjust go lay out nude. I don't
(03:30):
like a park. I know. He's got the biggest backyard I've ever seen
my life. A pretty big, three layers floors. It's got stages.
Yes, it's crazy, big pool, big basketball, badminton, tennis court,
basketball, it's a half court.Okay, it's a big it's a
huge, big outdoor kitchen area. We're we have the equipment and that has
(03:53):
yet to be built. Okay, all right, but that awning thing up
there, I thought that was thebig outdoor that I built up there.
You're at the top. Yeah, just the space right now, life you
got going the one you hate comingin. You've got a great life going
on in there. The Inland Empireor I'm sorry, Claremont, whatever,
But anyway, there are people outthere broke. There are lots of reasons
(04:15):
people are complaining about trying to keepup with their bills from things like gas
and food, especially housing. Thoseare among the chief complaints. So let's
look at the numbers here in theInland Empire. The Census Bureau survey shows
nearly half of the population in Riversideand San Bernardino Counties are struggling to keep
up with finances. That's forty fourpoint one percent Wow in this survey say
(04:40):
the IE is tough to pay thebills. This is out of the fifteen
largest metro areas in the country. The IE tops the list. LA is
lower at eighth on this list.So the most expensive of the place where
people are hurting financially is the InlandEmpire. And that's a hint not to
(05:00):
f with them. Because it's hotand people are struggling financially. That means
home invasions, they'll kill you.Yeah, lay off the Inland Empire.
They're not in the mood, sodon't f with them. They're struggling to
pay bills and it's hotter than hell. That's a combination for you to back
(05:21):
off. Back off the Inline Empire. They're not playing this summer. They're
out behind Houston, Chicago, andDallas Los Angeles metro area coming in at
thirty five percent saying they're struggling. The US average response is closer to thirty
six percent. We talk with peoplewho say they have plans on how to
(05:42):
stretch their money. Every week. We're cutting where we can. I mean
Thank god, we're kind of back. Things are getting better for us.
On a personal note, there's somany that aren't. And I think you
just have to I don't know,I mean, do what you can,
right. You have to look atthe ads, check your coupons wherever they
are, and yeah, you justgot to be a little smarter and not
do what it's called impulse buying, you know. Yeah, but it's hard
(06:05):
not to impulse buy. You seesomething story you like, you might grab
it. The survey by the USCensus Bureau began taking regular samples during the
pandemic as a way to get aquick look at how the country is doing.
The results of this show people arehaving a difficult time paying for everyday
things like we mentioned gas, groceries. Of course, housing that is said
(06:26):
to be the biggest reason, accordingto Professor of Public Policy at UC Riverside
David Brady, I asked him whetherthese results add up to what he sees
in the region. I mean, the Empire is uniquely constrained by these extremely
high housing costs of California, butthe inland Empire doesn't necessarily have as high
(06:46):
as an income for the average familyas you might see in Los Angeles or
San Diego. So it's sort ofbeing pinched by the intensity of California as
ruthless housing market while having a laborthat looks more like the rest of the
United States. Yeah, so don'tout with them. They're not in the
mood as for easing the pressure onInland Empire family as well, Professor Brady
(07:10):
says there's not really a simple solution. Of course, housing costs coming down
would help things greatly. You know, I saw this piece and the reason
why they keep calling him Professor Bradybecause his first name is Mike and they
thought that would be odd to callhim. You know, hey, Mike
Brady is going to tell you howto save money to the Inland Empire.
I love the Inland Empire. Wewere right in the La Times the number
(07:33):
one show in the Inland Empire outof all of radio, the number one
show that I e man. Ilike the Ie and I could definitely live
out there. It's beautiful. Streetsare wide. I'm a wide street guy.
Maybe you don't know that about me. I like the wide streets.
There's a there's a lot of oldthrowback nineteen seventies places out there. Well,
(07:56):
you'll see you'll see cocos. You'llsee yes, cocos, A couple
of old, old restaurants that havebeen there, like turn of the twentieth
century, Sycamore in and oh yeahthat's right, Yeah yeah, magic lamp
that have been there, that werelike old monster hangouts like in the early
part of the twentieth century. Ilike that. One of the things I
like about the Inland Empire. AndI drove back from Morongco last year through
(08:18):
the Inland Empire because the freeways werea mess, so I just decided to
take another hour and drive through theInland Empire. And you'll see you'll be
driving through a residential neighborhood, anold residential neighbor where those houses were building
in the nineteen thirties, nineteen forties, and all of a sudden, there's
a gas station on the corner,an old fashioned gas station right on the
corner. I love that. Thatmakes me feel like I'm back in nineteen
(08:39):
seventy two in the San Fernando Valley. So, Inland Empire, keep your
chin up. Things are going toturn around. I know housing is expensive,
Bob Man, We're not going toforget you here on KFI. I
am a huge fan of the ie. You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on
demand from KFI AM six forty.I got home last night I watched on
(09:01):
Hulu two hours of that show Clippedabout the Clippers and the Sterlings. Yeah,
yeah, I thought it was okay. I thought it was. It
was a little slow, really yeah. The first two episodes are out.
The next one drops tonight at nine. That's a kid say when it just
released drops? Yeah, And Ithought it was a bit slow. It
(09:22):
wasn't. I think they the peoplewho put together Clipped were afraid of getting
sued by the Sterlings, where thepeople who put together the Lakers, they
didn't give a ratsass who sued him, including Jerry West. So once again
we get an inferior product by theLakers, even on a somewhat kind of
docu series. I didn't think aboutthat because the Lakers one was great.
(09:46):
Yeah, the second season was good. It wrapped up really fastly. That's
my only sort of grape at theend. But I thought it was done
really really well. I don't knowwhat it is. Maybe the Lakers have,
you know, because they've won championships. There was, you know,
a build up and a lead upto that winning a championship, and everybody
knows that the Clippers have not donethat, and I think that might be
(10:07):
a letdown. You know. It'slike it's like doing a uh, you
know, an NHL series on theVancouver Canucks who've never won a Stanley Cup,
Like, oh, they've never won. Though, people are gonna love
this, but it is, youknow, I don't know why. I
mean, part of my brain knowsthe name V. Steviano, Yeah,
(10:28):
you know. And and she theactress who played her, is great,
She's terrific. The actors who playedv. Staviano. Did it feel like
like they were making choices in creatingthis thing, like you say, where
you know they were maybe trying toavoid being soon? I think they are,
But did it was there like multipletimes when like something happened or didn't
happen. Then you're like, oh, come on, that's really weak.
(10:50):
And Okay, that's a good, great question because I think that Donald Sterling
is weirder than they portray in themovie really, yeah, in the docu
series or series whatever. Yeah,I think he's much stranger in person,
and I think they cut him someslack. Really, they played it safe
with him. Yeah, I thinkso, because I've heard stories really,
(11:13):
yeah, because I've heard stories aboutthe buildings that they own, the one
hundred and fifty apartment buildings they owned, Yeah, that are not great.
And they didn't really get into it. They mentioned it. They mentioned it
once like, oh, you know, guy's not paying rent, you know,
or guy has bugs in his barwhen I get him out of there,
you know, that kind of quickthing, you know. Mentioned.
(11:33):
But I've heard some that seems likesome of the juicy stuff. I mean
that seems like, yeah, you'reright, that almost defeats the purpose of
why you're making this because the wholepoint of that time period, when all
that stuff was going on, everybodyjust couldn't believe that he was one.
Really like this way. You know, they have not played the video,
uh you know, or the audioyet and they and they don't say and
(11:54):
I don't know if they say that, you know, they do the the
magic Johnson line, he's got aI don't think they haven't shown that or
play that. I don't If theydo tonight at nine, I'll have to
check it out. But it isgreat to see Doc Rivers. He looks
great in it, you know,he's just trying to come out of here
to win a championship. He looksterrific in it. The Vista Viano,
(12:18):
the actress who plays her is awesome. I mean, it's it's almost worth
watching, you know, her actBut the you know that you feel sorry
for Sterling's wife, what's her name, Sterling's wife, Shelley Sterling. You
feel bad for on two levels. One is that you know she had to
(12:39):
put up with all the craziness ofher husband, and two Mark Thompson broke
up with her. Yeah, she'sstill not over that. Yeah, I
bet. But have you seen it. I've watched it. You watched it?
What do you think? I'm inagreement with you? That's slow?
(13:00):
I felt it just was slow.Yeah, I think you know, the
characters are great. I think EdO'Neil does a great job. O'Neil's terrific.
Yeah, but the writers didn't givehim They should err on the side
of being too crazy. I agree. I agree like Jerry West. When
they went after Jerry West. Thatwas very entertaining. That was great.
That was one of the best partsabout that series. Oh yeah, time,
(13:20):
yeah, right, going after youknow, mister clean, Jerry West
had the actor that plays Roser theGM Oh, that's that guy's good,
Kelly A. Coin. Mark hadhim on. We had him on the
other night. He's great, He'sgreat. So Mark had to say he
liked it because you know somebody onthe cast. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Okay, I don't know anybody,so I can give you the honest
review. But it was it wasjust slow. You know, how many
(13:43):
there are how many episodes? Twoout six? Oh, there's total six,
two out six total coming and onecomes out of a third episode comes
out at nine tonight. Yeah, and I'm gonna stay with it. I'm
gonna watch it. I'm gonna I'mgonna watch it too. I hope it
it's better. Yeah. You know. One of the things that I heard
from some about Jerry West is thatJerry West was not the instrumental guy in
(14:05):
the Lakers fast break and you know, and that's always been credited with their
success. That everyone credits Jerry Westwith putting that together and it wasn't Jerry
West. But he never corrected anybodywhen when he was credited with putting that
team together, who was responsible?I think it was one of the coaches.
(14:26):
I'm not you know, the biggestLaker fan in the world, but
I think it was one of thecoaches that put that all together. And
then Jerry West sort of, youknow, didn't didn't take credit for it,
but didn't say that he didn't doit either when whenever he spoke and
he was introduced, says, oh, the guy who put together they're winning
team of the Lakers, they youknow, the fast break, lazier gentlemen,
Jerry West, and never got upthere and said, Hey, that
(14:48):
wasn't really me. That's what Iwas. One of the things I found
interesting about that Showtime series that theydid on Max was I thought they portrayed
him in a way that almost describesexactly what you just said. Yeah,
and that was the truth. Likehe kind of just he had a he
had some decision making that he wasa part of. But Maerylyn architect,
Yeah, like you know four percent. Yeah, but took total credit for
(15:11):
it. At least that's what somebodytold me who was in the know,
who knew all of everything that wenton with the Lakers. They absolutely trust
this guy who told me then andhe said, yeah, he said,
Jerry West took credit for all that, and he deserved almost none, almost
none. But it was nice.It was It was nice to see Jerry
(15:31):
West get pissed. I've not seenthat side of him. You know,
he's threatening to sue people, andin the docu series, how crazy he
was. That was great if that'strue enough. It just I mean,
they mellowed him out a little bitin that second season of it, but
it was his character was far moreinteresting to me than I would ever have
(15:52):
thought. Yeah, Jerry West,Yeah, no, you're exactly right.
That's that's true. All right, breaking news on eleven. It's the pro
Palace Stinian story out there. Wegot it on TV here. Let's if
you can crank that up. Ihave it on the TV that you're supposed
to bring able to bring it up, I guess here have heart failure with
unresults. They got the wrong TV. It may be wait, is the
bottom TV supposed to be the onesupposed to be. Well, that's not
(16:15):
what we're watching. It's u cl A. U c l A is
Stride on fire again with the withthe protest, and it seems to be
a lot of people running around, which is not a good sign. A
lot of people are scurrying and runningaround battle round it's hosted by s We
got it late, but we gotit. But we'll keep an eye on
(16:38):
u c l A. The copsare there, LA p ds there,
the U c l A cops there. They're trying to set up another protest
camp. So we'll see, we'llsee. You're listening to Tim Conway Junior
on demand from kf I A Msix forty in and Out. Have you
driving around right now and you're gonnagot an in and out and you're gonna
(17:00):
enjoy the burger. You're gonna waitin line for forty minutes. Doesn't seem
like a long time because you knowat the end of it you're getting the
best burger, fries and coke you'vehad all day, maybe all week.
You enjoy it and being it inand out. I think they advertise on
the station they don't have a timeswith us. We don't do any endorsements
for them. I don't know why, but we don't. But when you
(17:26):
drive through in and out and youleave there with your hamburger, your cheeseburger,
your double double, your hot fries, and your cold ice cold coke,
and you drive out and you seepeople in line that are thirty deep
and just waiting to get their burgerand you have yours already. You feel
(17:48):
better than them, and that that'sa sign. That's a good sign.
You don't go through a lot oflife where you feel better than other people
just spending twelve dollars, But itmakes you feel better than they are,
and you know why you are.You have your food, they don't.
You're better than them. It doesfeel like a little bit of an accomplishment,
(18:11):
but it does. I mean whenthey're when you pass those hungry people
on the way out and you haveyour food, you feel like in life
you're better than they are. Andguess what you are at that moment,
at least you are, Yeah, you are. It's true. They all
want. I always thought of whata great side hustle this would be is
(18:32):
to buy twenty burgers, twenty fries, and twenty cokes. And as you're
leaving, say, hey, anybodygot a twenty I can give you the
food right now. You have towait in line. Hot cheeseburgers, hot
fries, and a coke. Yeah, but it's only twelve dollars. Okay,
then stand in line. But fortwenty dollars, this bag is yours.
I think you'd sell like hotcakes, and I think In and Out would
(18:52):
shut that down. I think they'dstop that activity. Maybe maybe not,
who knows, but to do thatbelly on, you know, I don't,
Maybe you do, I don't.I got things going on. Very
busy, okay, very busy, bight Sorry. In and Out they're raising
their prices. I think we're goingup by a penny, and In and
Out double double with fries and adrink now costs more than ten dollars in
(19:15):
California. The higher price due tothe state's new twenty dollars minimum wage for
fast food workers. Yeah, how'dthat work out? Remember we had some
reporter on can't remember who it wasor maybe I won't say his name,
that said the twenty dollars an hourincrease is going to be great for California.
I said, okay, well, why don't we just raised it at
fifty or one hundred dollars an hour? If it's so great, why don't
(19:37):
we go to two hundred bucks anhour? And man, oh man,
a lot of people got fired overthat thing. A meal at In and
Out is ten dollars and forty fivecents for a double double eight sixty five
for a cheeseburger and eight point fifteenfor a hamburger. Those prices are before
tax. Sales sacks in La Countyis nine and a half percent. That
takes the total cost of the doubledouble mis ill to eleven dollars and forty
(20:02):
four cents worth every penny every penny. But Crozier, I don't know what
kind of fast food guy you are. You strike me as a guy who
probably doesn't like deep much, butyou get caught up in the web in
general. I were specifically fast foodfast food, but I've noticed that the
line at Jack in the Box,Burger King, McDonald's, Carls, they're
(20:26):
all much much shorter than they usedto be. I will agree with that
absolutely. Yeah, people, thatdoesn't really affect in and out of force,
but one, yeah, those alwaysyou know. I drove through McDonald's
last weekend and I was the onlyguy in line. Drove right up the
speaker, then drove right up tothe window. Now, see, McDonald's
is like a it's very random.Like I'll go on a Tuesday night and
(20:48):
it's backed up all the way andson, Ames, I'm going to Thursday
and I'm like you said, I'mthe only one in line. Yeah,
it is weird. It changes withMcDonald for me anyway, you know the
one you got to stay away fromDel Taco on a Tuesday because that's Taco
Tuesday with the three tacos for Idon't know, two bucks whatever that is,
and you're gonna get hoards. You'regonna get people standing in line just
for those Taco Tuesday But otherwise,I stopped at Taco at Del Taco on
(21:14):
the way home from Arizona. Hotgreat. And the grated cheese there is
awesome. That thinly grated cheese absolutelyon top of those tacos. That's fantastic.
It kind of reminds I mean,it's not as melted, but it
reminds me of that cheese on theMexican pizza for that's right, that's right,
that's right. But something's going onwith Del Taco fries and I can't
(21:38):
figure it out. They're not cookingthem as long and they're they're you know,
like sort of a soggy kind ofraw. Yeah, and I've had
that in the last couple of times. They got to crank that up because
the reason why you went to DelTaco in the passes for the fries,
the hot fries, and and whenyou get a reputation of having great hot
fries, we expect it every time. Back to work, back door,
(22:00):
gang, back door with those fries. And now, by the way,
Taco Bell they have two sizes forthe nacho fries. Now, I don't
know if you know, wait whatthey have a large? They have a
large. Now, oh I didn'tknow that. Yeah, to go down
to that a couple of nights ago. Did they give you two of the
cheeses or one? No, it'sstill one. You have to order extra,
which sucks. But that is alwayspiping hot. Yeah, it's always
(22:22):
great. Sometimes it heats up likethat corner of the bag when it's sitting
nice. That's your heater for yourfries. That cheese is great. I
get every single drop of that out, you know. I put a fry
in there at the end and zipit around that absolutely. I don't know
what it is with with Taco Bell'smelted cheese is great. I know a
(22:44):
lot of plays have tried to copyit, but nobody's gotten close. You're
listening to Tim Conway Junior on demandfrom KFI AM six forty. This is
Monday and six fifty or six fiftyone, and what do we do where
every Monday at six fifty You seewhat I see? Yeah, we talked
about the most important story going onat the UC campuses right now in today's
(23:10):
story being brought to you Bob AdvancedHair. That's right this feature. You
see what I see. We talkabout the UC campus. This is brought
to you by one Day Treatment,Life changing Results. Make your appointment today
at Advanced tair dot com. Andthe biggest UC story going on right now
is breaking news law enforcement at backat you see LA in riot gear.
(23:33):
Oh no, check this out overhere. We were talking about a tactical
alert. These are CHP officers thatare down here in riot gear. They're
dressed very similarly to how they werejust a little bit over a month ago.
Oh, they broke up their longlasting encamp but that was in front
of Royce Hall. So they arehere at Droves and I've noticed that they're
moving a lot more quickly than theyhave in times past. So you know
(23:55):
already when they broke up the encampowhich let me wipe not show you where
that was early was actually just prettyclose to underneath us right there in the
Dixon Quad. There you see RoyceHall. That is where they were earlier
this afternoon. Thank you, Dylan. As we spin back around, so
they came down the Chant steps andthen they went west towards Moore Hall,
More Hall and the dining area overhere, they looked like maybe they were
(24:15):
beginning to disperse, but then allof a sudden they started running really quickly
and kind of four to five thisarea. Here you see some more officers.
There's a mixture of Campus PD aswell as CHP. I do not
believe I've seen LAPD yet on thecampus. It's unclear what if any of
their involvement will be, but CHPis definitely HERECHP is there. I think
LAPD is there close standing by inriot gear and like they want to quash
(24:41):
this encampment and not just allowed tokind of, you know, move all
over the campus. So we'll seewhat the next step is going to be.
There you go UCLA back with theencampments and back with the cops.
And I wonder if it's the sanepeople going to be rested, because they
are back there not in jail,so it might be the same crew,
(25:03):
exact same crew Pat Sajack has finallysaid goodbye and very very sad for a
lot of people who like that Wheelof Fortune. My only connection wheel of
Fortune is the slot machine. That'sit. But a lot of people like
that Wheel of Fortune TV show.Oh I know, Rick, the music
(25:26):
is it at the same time nowwith our play of the day, this
is it. If you miss PatSajack and his final episode. Here's the
final spin and the big farewell. You know what that means. That's Wheel
of Fortune and legend. Pat SAJACKIis set to retire after forty one seasons.
Sammy is back and we're just playthat tune for a little while longer
because this is breaking me up alittle bit. It's the end of an
(25:48):
era, guys, for America's gameWheel of Fortune for more than forty years.
Forty years. All right, Let'sgo to Pat Sajack say goodbye.
Pat Sajack, the perennial face ofWheel of Fortune, with a special message
to the millions who've tuned in fordecades ahead of his final spin as host.
And I've always felt that the privilegecame with a responsibility to keep this
(26:10):
daily half hour a safe place forfamily. Fund Oh good. He's going
to go out with a joke orsomething fun and light. He's not going
to get too heavy on us.And I've always felt that the privilege came
with a responsibility to keep this dailyhalf hour a safe place for family fund
no social issues, no politics, nothing embarrassing, I hope, just a
game. But gradually it became morethan that. A place where kids learn
(26:33):
their letters, where people from othercountries hone their English skills, where families
came together along with friends and neighborsand entire generations. It's correct, what
an honor to have played even asmall part in all that. Thank you
for allowing me into your lives.Overnight, his longtime colleague ben A.
White. Here we go, Herewe go, kick it. Oh what
(26:53):
the heck? Delivering a love letterto our friend on the very show that
he make them both household names. All right, here's Vana White saying goodbye
to everybody. Fana White. Ican't believe that tomorrow is our last show
together. I don't know how toput into words what these past forty one
(27:14):
years have meant to me, butI'm going to try. Eight thousand episodes
went by like that. When Ifirst started I was so green. You
made me so comfortable and made meso confident. Pat you made me who
I am? You really did.By the way, bellio, when I
finally, you know, give itup here and turn my headphones in,
(27:37):
