Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's KFI AM six forty and you're listening to the
Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app. We had
a woman call us and said, hey, I jumped in
the shower and I was not around when you announced
the number one appliance in your house.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
That sucks up a lot of electricity.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Okay, well that's the air conditioner and or the heater
unless you're Angel Martinez.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Yeah, Angel spent sixty dollars a month on electricity.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Before running the AC.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Okay, all right, okay, all right, that's cool, that's cool.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
How you do it?
Speaker 1 (00:39):
But congratulations, do you have a nine square feet there?
And what do you got gone?
Speaker 4 (00:45):
Yeah, I'm pretty close.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Oh so you moved to a bigger place I did.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Thank you for notice.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Does your bird like it cold? I probably loved it cold?
I love to say, right, very good?
Speaker 1 (01:05):
All right, Americans are spending less on travel. That's not
evident when you go to the airport. Every plane is
full and there's no really room to stretch out on
airplanes anymore. But it says here we're traveling less.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
As American Triple A Senior vice president of Travel, Paula
Twindlee is joining US now to talk a little bit
more about this. So we had been talking about how
after the pandemic there was all this pent up need
to travel and people didn't care about inflation. They needed
to get out right. So if the TSA broke travel
records in July, what has executives worried? That the travel
(01:41):
industry is slowing?
Speaker 5 (01:43):
Travel is winding down, but unfortunately cost of goods and
services are not, so there's less discretionary spending available for
people today.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
You know what, I don't believe that I hate to
say this, that I'm not calling them liars. I'm getting clothes.
I went to the Glendale Galleria on Saturday. It took
me forty five minutes to find a parking spot.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Every level was full, every spot was full.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
And then when you walk around the galleria in Glendale
there you have to be conscious of walking because you'll
hit nine people on your way from one store to another.
I've never seen so many people at a mall in
my life. And everybody I noticed this. Every single person.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Had bags with them.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Around their arms, two three, four, five bags. Everyone's buying stuff.
And we've talked about how bad the surge of COVID's been.
This summer, and that can only happen when people are
milling with each other. Yeah, and people are angry in
the parking lot. Oh my god, this woman almost ran
into me with her car and she was yelling at me.
And I don't like to get involved with stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
That's not the way I'm going to go out, you know,
fighting over a parking spot. But I think that people
I don't know where they're getting the money from, but
they got it. These malls are packed on weekends, absolutely packed.
And I do understand that it's the week that school starts.
You know, the first week is over, so you're going
to buy clothes or supplies whatever the kids need for
(03:18):
the next you know, weeks or a couple months of school.
But I've never seen that many people at them all
in my life, never ever.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
And you know, people have booked for the fall, and
cruises have been rid of the real winners for that
value proposition, especially Alaska and the Caribbeans.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
So you're a cruiser, right, Crows, you love the cruises.
It's been a bit, but I do like cruises. Yeah,
I got to get on one of these things. I
would love to go.
Speaker 5 (03:43):
We still have a lot of people traveling, but the
bookings going further out, having a little softening.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
What are the trends that you're noticing? And then why
what are people really looking for?
Speaker 2 (03:52):
She just told you you were listening.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
The bookings going further out, having.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
A little softening.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
Okay, the booking's going out little so off, people aren't buying.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
And then the very next question.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
What are the trends that you're noticing?
Speaker 2 (04:05):
She'd just told you, she told you.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
The booking's going further out, having a little softening both,
and then the question.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
What are the trends that you're noticing.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
That's a woman that's not listening.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
When they book a vacation now, both domestically and internationally.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
Sure you know, like I said, cruise is a very
popis like I said, Like I said, said that's great.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Like that again, like I said, which translates loosely to
I just told you.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
I just told you.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
Sure you know, like I said.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Like I said, that's great.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
Cruise is a very popular. Triple A is up twelve
percent year over year, a lot of them being booked
because you're launching your meals.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
Your transportation is the value at it.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
It's all rolled into one and you can really can
kind of control your spending. You know, travel agents are
there to help those cost conscious consumers make those decisions
for the best value added, you know, maybe take advantage
of the shoulder and low season.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
So people still traveling.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
Why don't you think that they're not traveling, they're just
making different decisions to make it affordable.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Hey, I had somebody email me saying that that Courtney
Wayne is a very funny comic who's going to be
at Morongo, and so I looked him up and he's
been playing. He's born in nineteen eighty seven. I worked

Marongo September seventh. He's actually really good. He does a
lot of skits and stuff like that. But yeah, that's
what they say. He's got a lot of videos out
there that are very funny. Now let's do a quick
whip around. Can we do that quick whip brown? All right,
(06:01):

belly o eight eight all right, angel nine nine. You
all missed it. I nailed it. It was. The actual
(06:45):
answer is soda Country Way.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Country Wayne is the father of ten children, but seven
of which he had before he was twenty two.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Joison Way twenty two.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
So before he was twenty two, that I call that
twenty one? He had seven children. Whoa, it's a number
that I can't even get my head around.
Speaker 6 (07:07):
That.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
What a house.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Look, I'm a big fan of the more you bet,
more kids, the better. If I'd do it all over again,
I'd have ten kids. I would do it in a heartbeat.
But he had seven kids before he was twenty two.
Oh and also he's a vegan and doesn't smoke and
doesn't drink all those things.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Related. No, no, not sure.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
And he also is a big fan Croche Cowboys. Thank
you very much, big Cowboys fan up in Georgia. Huge
Cowboys fan. So go see Country Wayne September seventh at
Maronga thing going with that guy.
Speaker 7 (07:45):
You're listening to Tim conwaytun You're on demand from KFI
Am six forty.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
We got a nice call from Rosa Linda. She wanted
to know what the appliance was in the house that
uses the most electricst and we told her the air
conditioner and the heater, mostly the air conditioner.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Well, really, what did you initially tell her?
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (08:09):
She had called and she said I had to step
in the shower I couldn't hear them. Appliance that takes
the most electricity. I said, oh, it's the electric can
opener and she goes, oh really, I said, yeah, electric
can opener. She's no, I don't believe that. I said, no, no, no,
it's the air conditioner.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Of course. So rosalind a big, huge.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
KFI fam and I said, I said, yeah, call me
any time you got any questions.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
And she goes, what's your name? I said, Chris Little Newsroom.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Okay, do people still have electric can openers? We have
one really? Yeah, yeah, man, I don't know why. It
just seems like something that I don't cave men have. Yeah,
I just yeah, it just seems like a big bulky thing,
like something on the Brady Bunch.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
Yeah exactly.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
Well, how do you open your.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Cans can opener? You you have a manual one? Yeah, cavemen,
Yeah exactly.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
You open it with your tea to drawer, though, I mean,
where do you keep your electric can open on the counter?
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Big ass counter?
Speaker 3 (09:12):
It just seems like a waste of space.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
It does seem like a waste of space. Put it
in a cabinet, yeah, you could.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
And then you got to take it out and plug
it in, and then that that that that fang that
opens the can. You can never really get it stuck
under there and open it properly.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
I hate it.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
But yeah, there's and they're always like nineteen dollars whenever
you go to buy an electric can opener for some reason,
nineteen dollars.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
But we have when you have one belly on electric
can opener. Yeah, because you cook or John cooks? Who
cooks more? In your house? You are John? Your husband
John a lot more? Yeah? Yeah, I like that? Does
he make what's the special? He's it Italian, right, His sauce,
His pasta sauce is pasta. He makes great steak, he
(10:00):
makes great salads. Yeah, will you.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Bring some pasta sauce in one day? You got it
because I brought all those granola bars and you guys
didn't like.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, could you stop bringing that sale stuff and the
stuff that you can't stand and go, oh, I brought
this in for the crew. Help yourself. I'm like, oh
my god, this stuff is like gross.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Fellio always accuses me of only bringing stuff in for
the crew that's either expired or stuff I don't like.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
And you're gonna tell me that's not accurate.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
Oh tell me that.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
I'm not gonna tell you that, but I'm hoping that.
I was hoping you didn't notice.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
Well I noticed, Maybe others didn't notice.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
I brought those cans of Coca cola and those weren't expired.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
They were flatting.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
You didn't You didn't s all over those while you
were throwing them down your throat one after another. Go
go go, go go, Okay, busting that can on your
head and throwing it out. Okay, okay, okay, all right,

getting all the votes, and so she wasn't supposed to

now at the DNC. Joie spoke for a minute twenty
five seconds. So let's see what she had to say.

Speaker 7 (13:01):
All right, that is actually a surprise appearance by the
Vice president.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Yeah, surprise appearance today, A suprise.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
All right.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Phil Donahue passed away. He was great.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, nineteen thirty five, I believe,
and my dad knew him. They're both from Cleveland. And
I remember when Phil Donna who got married. It was
supposed to be this big Hollywood wedding. Marlo Thomas or
Marlow Thomas was his wife, and they were gonna have
this big, huge, fantastic Hollywood wedding, two big movers and
(13:36):
shakers from Hollywood. And then two or three days I
can't remember the timing on this, but two or three
days before they got married Mount Saint Helen's in Washington
Blue and that was the only news story all week,
and everybody missed the big Phil Donahue Marlo Thomas wedding.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
That I do remember that.
Speaker 9 (14:00):
Before Oprah, there was Phil Donahue Donahue, which ran on
daytime television for twenty nine years, was the first talk
show to include an audience as part of the show.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
What we do with TV is not Wrong the Record.
Speaker 9 (14:14):
It featured a wide variety of guests covering everything from politics.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
They believe that.
Speaker 9 (14:19):
The United States government has prepared to usurp the Constitution
and break down doors and confiscate guns.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Am I lying to these people?
Speaker 9 (14:26):
Bob Fletcher and Jim TrackMan to entertainment?
Speaker 1 (14:29):
What's the chronology of outrageous fortune and walking away from cheers?
Speaker 2 (14:33):
I mean, was outrageous fortune out and successful? When you
quit cheers?
Speaker 9 (14:37):
To civil rights?
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Mister Valenti, we needed your voice following this arrest to
stand up and say this kind of behavior has got
to stop.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Tell me that's not a fair question.
Speaker 9 (14:52):
Donahue grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and began his career
in TV and radio in the nineteen fifties. His talk
show premiered in Dayton, Ohio, in nineteen sixty seven and
tackled serious issues.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
In nineteen eighty five.
Speaker 9 (15:05):
The show moved to New York City, where it became
a ratings juggernaut and led the way for a new
genre of daytime programming.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
He was the king.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
He started that whole daytime talk show. The audience got involved.
He was the trendsetter when it comes to that.
Speaker 10 (15:23):
Insatiably curious and accepting. He saw every guest as worthy
of interest and work to build understanding, bringing us to
see each other not as enemies but as fellow Americans.
Speaker 9 (15:34):
Just three months ago, Donahue was awarded the Presidential Medal
of Freedom. Dona Hue's wife of forty four years, actress
Marlowe Thomas, was at his bedside when he died, along
with his children from a previous marriage. Donahue won twenty
Emmy Awards in his career. Oprah herself when saying, quote,
(15:55):
if there had been no Filled Donahue's show, there would
be no Oprah.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
When free show.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Wow, that's a huge compliment, major compliment.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
That's great. Phil Donahue. What a guy, even it's like
a kid. He was one of those guys.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
I discovered him like when I was sick from school
and the price is right and right around that whole
little thing middle of the day every once when I
came across, and he was one of the first guys
that got me into the whole idea of like talk
and oh that's cool talk talk shows and to talk
radio and such.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
Yeah, because the only time you ever saw Phil Donahue
is either over the summer or when you were dying. Yeah,
when you were sick at home with the flu. Yep,
you watched you know. I only had three stations and
one of them was you know Phil Donahue. By What
a long, great successful life that man lived, born in
nineteen thirty five and passed away.
Speaker 7 (16:43):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty oh man.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
We covered a lot today. Yeah, shoplifting, that's a big deal.
From seven elevans. Phil Donahue passed away. That's sad. If
you're a big Phil Donnie maybe grew up with film.
Kanla Harris made a surprise appearance of the DNC. We
played to the audio that you're welcome. People are Americans
are traveling less and I don't know where people are
(17:15):
saying the economy is in the toilet. If you go
to any mall, they're packed all the time. Stuff to
find a parking spot. And so we covered a lot today.
The yacht that sank off the coast of Italy Bellio
and her syphilis home testing idea that got ripped off
by somebody else. Skyrocketing electric bills, and so.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
We covered a lot.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
You know, we almost covered too much, you know, because
we covered that much in a day. Then we got
to they expect us next day to cover as much,
and it gets it gets tiresome.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
So we covered a lot, uh a lot.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
Johnny Whacter, he was the guy in General hospital who
was working at a bar on town, walked to his car. Somebody,
some three or four guys were trying to steal his
catalytic converter. He approached him, they shot him and killed
him on the spot, and there was arrest last week
in that case. Last week and George gascon On the

against four individuals connected with the events surrounding the tragic
death of Johnny Wacker. I want to first of all
thank the LAPD, LAPD Central Bureau detectives almost like detectives,
and the entire police departner for the work they did
in this case. This is a difficult case. And then
(18:41):
there was a lot of work that was done in
work to get us here today. Thank you. The four
defenders in this case are Robert Barcelone and Sergestrada. They
have each been charged with one kind of murder, one
kind of attemptive robbery, and grand theft. Leonel Gores has
been charged with attentive robbery and grand theF The three
(19:02):
defendants also face special allegations and aggravated circumstances of using
the firearm and the commission of these crimes, and mister
Barcelo also faces the special circumstances for murder during any
attemptive robbery. If convicted, mister Barsolo will be facing a
life sentence without possibility of parole. Finally, Frank o'lano has
(19:25):
been charged with accessory to murder and receive, installing property
and three counts of the NFL and with a firearm.
On the morning I made twenty fifth, two thousand and four,
Johnny Walker and his coworker Anita Joy were walking to
their cars after finishing your shift at the Market Way.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
When did this happen on.
Speaker 6 (19:43):
The morning of Made twenty fifth, two thousand and four, Johnny.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Wait, seems like a date's wrong.
Speaker 6 (19:49):
On the morning of Made twenty fifth, two thousand and four, Johnny.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Wall I think it's twenty twenty four. I think that
happened this year. I think he just messed up the date.
Speaker 6 (19:58):
On the morning I made twenty five five, two thousand
and four, Johnny Walker and his co worker Anita Joey
were walking to their cars after finishing your shift at
the Moxie Hotel. As they approached their vehicle on Hope
State near Pickled Boulevard, Johnny discovered that his car was
being tampered with. As he approaches vehicle the three suspects
(20:19):
Rower Bars the three sauspects he approached vehicles. Out of
the three suspects, mister bar solo allegedly shot Johnny on
the chefs, taking his life. Discoverly act led to the
loss of his son, a brother, and a friend too many.
The loss of this talented young actor was who was
in the prime of his life and had so much
(20:41):
to offer to the world, as deeply felt by all
of us. Mister Walctor's work in present Stars of Lives

to their family, friends and the entire community who warn
the devastating laws. I want to thank the deputy district
attorneys from my major Crime's division who work in this case.
(21:01):
They also work relentless to be able to be here today.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
And by the way, congratulations to all of Johnny Wacktor's friends,
co workers, fellow actors. You kept that in the news.
You kept up with the marches, the signs and the pressure,
and thank God that you did that, because these guys
may not have been arrested without that kind of pressure,
(21:25):
and you kept it in the public eye. So you did
a great job. All his fellow actors, friends, family, You
did a sensational job for this young man and keeping
that story alive and keeping.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
His death alive too.
Speaker 6 (21:39):
And I also want to thank our viewer of Victim
Services is dedicated to the dedicated victim Service representatives who
are currently working with a family and providing the resources

I hope that not only the charges being broad support
(22:00):
that we can continue to provide through our Bureau Victim
Services will continue to offer a small measure of comfort
during this difficult times.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
You know, I don't know a lot about district attorneys
and you know their role in keeping crime down. But
I do know that when you slap people on the
wrist for stealing cataltic converters, that they will continue doing it.
And maybe, just maybe, if there was a stronger punishment
(22:28):
initially for some of these guys, maybe that kid would
be alive, Maybe Johnny'd be alive today.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
Certainly possible, certainly possible.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
All right, don't forget tonight Joe Biden's speech at the DNC,
and then Kambla Harris is expected to speak on Thursday
