fast food up there as well. Or if she goes
to five, you can hang out, you can head towards
ham Burger Hill, all the fast food places there, and
then later on you're gonna run into Magic Mountain. So
she's on her way either five or fifteen. She's coming

one end up right about where she is right now,
where a guy was going up he passed Lake Casteak
and there an eighteen wheeler parked off the right shoulder,
and this car purposely flew right into it and decapitated
himself and killed himself instantly, and that was a radical,
radical chase. The end of that chase. All right, so

we're northbound five. We're probably gonna lose this chase in
the next five to ten minutes because of the time
of day when it's dark and it's night. They can't
see the horizon if you're in a helicopter, and it's
very tough to get the signal back to LA. So
a lot of them will bail. We'll see who the
first one to bail is. But right now it's on two, four, five, seven, nine,

and eleven. Everybody's on it. We're on it here at KFI.
We've been on it since a little after about four
forty five or so almost yeah, around about four thirty, yeah,
four thirty Steve Kreager was gonna come on with us
Melley County Fire Department, and then this chase started right
around five thirty.

They're coming up on Lake here fourth third now right,
like you said, right, it could stay. Oh Man.

Cast Steak if you're if you're if you're running low
on fuel, has a big arco there with about ten pumps,
twelve pumps. I don't if the cops are gonna let
you do that maybe not, but that's the exit where
a lot of people who take their boats up the
Lake Casteak they fill up on snacks, coffee, and fuel
and then they're off to the lake. There's also a

good Jack in the Box there right there too. Oh
and there's a great Mexican place. Oh my god, I
can't remember the name of it, but there's a fantastic
Mexican place that's right on that exit right there. She's
got to pull over. Oh man, I'll come up with
the name of it a look online. But it's some
of the best food I've ever had in my life.

Mexican restaurant right at that exit, right there, the Lake
Casteak exit. It is beautiful, so it doesn't look like
she's going to be pulling over and getting gas or
snacks or food or anything. She is high tailing it
and getting up into the mountains. Maybe she's a mountain
goal all right. Born and raised I don't know, Colorado,
West Virginia, and she's a mountain mama. There there's the

fast food right there. That's the art Go I was
talking about, right there, next to that little motel. And
then a little further down about where she is right now.
That's where that great Mexican joint is. And uh and
and by the way, you're gonna see this storage storage storage,
boat storage, coming up on boat storage, coming up on

self storage. That's a whole big run out there as well.
Everybody lives in Valencia. They store crap in this area,
all of them. They all go and store all their
boats and their trailers and their RV's. It's all in
that area. Northbound five going yeah, oh, no, what do
we lose? Who do we lose? Oh, you're about to

is with us, Fox eleven News is with us.

to go up to Bakersfield, San Francisco, Fresno, and now
that freeway is gonna be unable to pass that area.

of this woman, and if she doesn't get out of

that van, it could be swat. They have to come
from downtown, and it's gonna be a mess, uh mess.

away from the cops, Questions about the dog, questions about

car that did a horrible job. Lots of questioning tonight.
The Dogie's in that car. It's still in the car.

area More Park. It's been bad, it's been very bad.
A lot of homes destroyed. The fire still rages, Still
homes are still burning, land is still burning, the winds
are still high and Steve Kreeger is with us, retired
captain from La County Fire Department. See how you Bob, Hey,

Jimmy ding Dong ding Dong with you, buddy. I am
heartbroken to see these homes, especially you know people have
been up there thirty forty fifty years. They may not
have fire insurance and they're looking at a complete loss
as we come up on Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays.
It's a disaster. And I know they have a thousand
(27:25):
firefighters out there. There was a rumor going around yesterday
that they ran out of water the fire. The chief
came out and said, that's absolutely not true.
Speaker 7 (27:34):
Is that.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
Have you ever been in a case where you're fighting
a fire and you ran out of water?
Speaker 6 (27:40):
Yes? I have, but in different situations happen. Those engines
carry five hundred gallons okay and water, and there may
not be a fire hydrant nearby, so they may have
to stop their operation go get some more water, or
they have a water tender. It's like a water tanker
that brings up water two to three thousand gallons. But
years ago, in the early eighties, that have the fire
(28:01):
up in Bradbury up there above dwarty and the backup
pumps were electrically run, and so the pump stopped running
when the power went out. So bring tankers up. And
the only way we get water was by taking our
small rubber hose like a little bit garden hose and
putting into swimming pool and park down below suck the
(28:23):
water out swimming pool. But it happens. And you get
into rural areas, you don't have, you know, fire hydrants
every six hundred feet like you do in a suburban area.
You may have to go, you know, and a quarter
miles to find a fire hydrant to get some water.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Steve, I don't understand if they if people have a
pool and you live up in the hills, I still
don't understand why you wouldn't spend two three thousand dollars
on a high velocity pump that can pump you know,
six seven thousand gallons of water on the house as
the fire approaches real quickly. I'm stunned that everybody doesn't
that not every single person has one of those pumps.
Speaker 6 (28:58):
Exactly a good idea to have that not just for
the personal use, but if the fire department gets there,
they could use water pump to the fire engine and
then the firefighters could use their higher pressure hoses and
do a much better job. But these people don't buy
these pumps because it's a you know, at every twenty
or thirty year occurrence. They figure, like, why spend the money,
(29:21):
you know, if you don't have to. The best thing
is the new deal, the new fire codes that will
require a swimming pool to have a pipe that goes
out to the street up front of the house. But
that's on all new construction or any new swimming pools
in high fire hazard areas. But yeah, it'd be good
to have a pump. It'd really be good to have
(29:42):
a generator and have an electrically operated pump. That way,
you use the generator the power goes out or anything else,
and when there's not a fire, but having the generator.
A lot of the new generators are dual fuel or trifuel,
where they run on gas, propane or natural gas.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
You know, we were talking earlier to Chris Adler, who's
up there with KFI, and she said there are fire folks, firemen,
fire women, fire engines from as far south as Torrance,
as far north as Santa Barbara. Man When these guys
come in and they come up there to help. The
local firemen must be just have such a sense of
(30:23):
family and brotherhood that people are coming to help them out.
It must be a feeling that is sort of unequaled
in the real world.
Speaker 6 (30:32):
Oh absolutely, yeah. I'm sure they're probably even coming from
further than that. If you have areas where the fire
weathers and as bad, they're probably coming from further up
north northern California. And I don't know if Orange County
or San Diego County send anybody up there, but it's
very likely. I would imagine Orange County's probably sent some
people up there. Not uncommon strike teams like Torrents or
(30:54):
Dondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, those departments get together, send a
strike team of five engines and a chief. La County's
got a ton of units all over the place right
now in La County, I think every reserve engine is
being staffed to back fill for the engines that left
went venture A County.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
So let me ask you a question about that mutual
aid and assistance. When they leave Torrents and there's five
fire trucks, are they going lights and sirens and on
the freeway, are they escorted by CHP the whole way.
Speaker 6 (31:23):
They don't have their lights on, but they're usually not.
They're not escorted by CHP, but the battalion chief, who's
usually a pickup truck or a suburban, who lead the
way in five engines and they'll get in the diamond
lane or the you know, the number one lane, and
they keep.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Going and and once they get there, are they on
the are they on the on the cell phone or
the radio the entire way up where they know where
to go immediately or do they have to check in
and sort of get their assignment.
Speaker 6 (31:51):
Well, it depends on the nature of the fire. If
there's an immediate need, you don't go to check in,
you go give you an assignment right away. They have
a radio frequence they use for travel to get up there,
and they'll be in contact with the command center. On
the fire that's grand need, they'll send them right to
where they're needed. If it isn't quite so immediate, they'll
(32:13):
send them to the command center and make sure their
rigs get fueled up because by them they'll probably have
a fuel trust and get them fueled up them all right.

you don't want Liones not your friend today. But there's
fast food up there as well. Or if she goes
to five, you can hang out, you can head towards
ham Burger Hill, all the fast food places there, and
then later on you're gonna run into Magic Mountain. So
she's on her way either five or fifteen. She's coming

away from at least nine cop cars, and she's I

that's where chases go to die up in that area.
And and I wouldn't do that up there because we

you want to stay local. But if she passes Magic
Mountain and she passes all the exits at Lake Casteak,

where a guy was going up he passed Lake Casteak
and there an eighteen wheeler parked off the right shoulder,
and this car purposely flew right into it and decapitated
himself and killed himself instantly, and that was a radical,
radical chase. The end of that chase. All right, so

we're northbound five. We're probably gonna lose this chase in
the next five to ten minutes because of the time
of day when it's dark and it's night. They can't
see the horizon if you're in a helicopter, and it's
very tough to get the signal back to LA. So
a lot of them will bail. We'll see who the
first one to bail is. But right now it's on two, four, five, seven, nine,

and eleven. Everybody's on it. We're on it here at KFI.
We've been on it since a little after about four
forty five or so almost yeah, around about four thirty, yeah,
four thirty Steve Kreager was gonna come on with us
Melley County Fire Department, and then this chase started right
around five thirty.

They're coming up on Lake here fourth third now right,
like you said, right, it could stay. Oh Man.

Cast Steak if you're if you're if you're running low
on fuel, has a big arco there with about ten pumps,
twelve pumps. I don't if the cops are gonna let
you do that maybe not, but that's the exit where
a lot of people who take their boats up the
Lake Casteak they fill up on snacks, coffee, and fuel
and then they're off to the lake. There's also a

good Jack in the Box there right there too. Oh
and there's a great Mexican place. Oh my god, I
can't remember the name of it, but there's a fantastic
Mexican place that's right on that exit right there. She's
got to pull over. Oh man, I'll come up with
the name of it a look online. But it's some
of the best food I've ever had in my life.

Mexican restaurant right at that exit, right there, the Lake
Casteak exit. It is beautiful, so it doesn't look like
she's going to be pulling over and getting gas or
snacks or food or anything. She is high tailing it
and getting up into the mountains. Maybe she's a mountain
goal all right. Born and raised I don't know, Colorado,
West Virginia, and she's a mountain mama. There there's the
(14:06):
fast food right there. That's the art Go I was
talking about, right there, next to that little motel. And
then a little further down about where she is right now.
That's where that great Mexican joint is. And uh and
and by the way, you're gonna see this storage storage storage,
boat storage, coming up on boat storage, coming up on

self storage. That's a whole big run out there as well.
Everybody lives in Valencia. They store crap in this area,
all of them. They all go and store all their
boats and their trailers and their RV's. It's all in
that area. Northbound five going yeah, oh, no, what do
we lose? Who do we lose? Oh, you're about to

lose five Yeah. Channel seven is staying with us, Four
is with us, Fox eleven News is with us.

And now she's gonna go. She's gonna hit that incline.

she's gone, she's gonna be up in the mountains. This mountain, mama. Oh,

get going anyways, because there's no way she's gonna get

if that affects it. And she's also been allegedly shooting

surprising how far she's going on just rims. She has
just four rims, that's all she's uh, she's sliding on now.

Thursday Getaway Thursday. A lot of people use that freeway
to go up to Bakersfield, San Francisco, Fresno, and now
that freeway is gonna be unable to pass that area.
It's gonna be clogged up. It's gonna be shut down,
perhaps for hours, depending on on you know, the attitude
of this woman, and if she doesn't get out of

that van, it could be swat. They have to come
from downtown, and it's gonna be a mess, uh mess.

dog doesn't know what to do. Dog wants to get
out with her. You know, that's a that's a loyal
cool dogie. Now dog's jumping in the back with that
custom sort of mesh window. That can't be you know, factory.
There's no way that's cussed. That's factory. No way, that's

a do it yourself job with that window. She's hands up,
red plaid shirt, black shorts, white T shirt, stains, no
surprises so far, stains, black shoes, black socks.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Listen, know they had a healthy meal beforehand. Yeah, and
what do you want me to do with him? She
does not know what to do.

Act in the car and slamming the door at this time. There,
she's pissed. Now, she's really angry. They've pissed her off. Now,
SWAT's gonna have to come out if she stays in
that van any longer. They probably already called Swat. So
Angel wear how much back up on northbound five? And

is it a couple miles already?
Speaker 2 (20:57):
Yeah, it's getting pretty bad.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
So they it looks like they've stop traffic at a
right in the middle of the crossover. Oh no, And
I'm seeing the laser he backing up from the lower
crossover area.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
So it's it's Thursday's a big day through there, all right,
people going to Bakersfield, Friest, and now San Francisco. Okay,
all right, she's got her trucks too, Yes, that's right,
that's right. Yeah, a lot of commerce flying through there.
The dog is staying in the car. She'll probably be
asked to shut the door so the dog doesn't get out. Well,
where's the dog gonna go. There's no traffic, can't run
(21:31):
in traffic. But it could go run in the mountains
and get lost. That's not good.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
So I'm more concerned about the dog.
Speaker 6 (21:38):
Right now.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
She is putting her hands out, hands up. She's got
what looks like a phone, maybe a cell phone in
one hand, and yelling at the cops. She's got Maybe
she's a numpire looks like she has a chest protector.
That's possible. I don't know, is that she's an ump
(22:01):
and has a chest protector or is that something she
should address with her doctor? Looks like she's put on
a few that's.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
A barrel shape, but very much like an umpire, like
you said, played umpire. Yeah, I just calling balls and
strikes here kids. She is standing on the side of
the road. Now she's again having a conversation with the cops.
She's hands out, don't shoot, and she's yelling and she doesn't.
(22:31):
She's got a lot of bright lights. She has about
eighteen lights in her face. She doesn't want to get
on the pavement. They've been asked her to get on
the pavement. She doesn't want to do that.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
I think that's what that was about.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Yeah, yeah, Now she's gonna put her life in danger
and walk towards the cops. That's not a good move.
She going down, not yet. She's still upright, biped, walking
around enjoying herself, and she does not want to go down.
She doesn't want to lay on the pavement, doesn't want
more stains on the white tea. She's had it with
(23:05):
the stains. He says, what's that? What's that pen you
put on to get stains off? Tied pen? Y? Yeah,
a race pen. Yeah, somebody needs that. I also, if
you don't mind me observing the white T shirt has
been washed with colors. It's not the right. Yeah, she
(23:25):
did not separate it is. It has been washed with
colors in the past, and it's been dulled, so it's
used some hot water instead of cold. That's always a mistake. Yep,
that's right, that's right.
Speaker 6 (23:37):
You know.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
He laundry and a little bleach too. But it looks
like the shirt you know, I'm I'm in. It's there's
a long shot on. The cops are approaching her now,
but it looks like that shirt was bought at CBS.
All right, cops are right on her. Yeah, all right,
hands uh they coughed her. Okay, she's done. She is done.
(24:01):
It's over. This chase is Code four. She's going to
do some speed wrapping in downtown LA. Wherever they take her.
I'll probably offer her a meal, she'll change clothes, and
then she'll have a lot of people asking questions. Lots
of questions tonight, Lots of them. The shooting, the running
away from the cops, Questions about the dog, questions about
(24:25):
the who's the guy that repaired the window in the
car that did a horrible job. Lots of questioning tonight.
The Dogie's in that car. It's still in the car.
They're trying to open the back door with the mesh window.
Can't do it, and code four, code four. Nobody else
in the car. Just a dog. Now we've got to
(24:48):
figure out what to do with the dog. Pull the
car off the freeway, open it back up so these
truckers and these people going to Fresno for the weekend
can get there. A lot of people going up that area.
Just one dog looks like just one dog on Yeah,
I've not seen the dog come out of there though.
I don't see anyone that grabbed the dog out of there.
(25:09):
They're pulling blankets out of the back. I didn't see
the dog. I hope he's still in there. I hope
didn't run away. Maybe his dog is it still.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
In the front I can't tell. You can't get the door.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Yeah, that that door has had it's had it. There's
a lot that a lot of damage to that car,
you know, a lot of neglecting, a lot of putting off,
a lot of procrastination when it comes to repairs.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
I didn't see the end of that dog.
Speaker 1 (25:41):
That worries me. Where that dog is?
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Didn't she put it in his little seatbelt?
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Oh, maybe maybe it's still in the car. All right.
I don't know what they do now, but that dog's
got to find new home, which is gonna be great

in Santa Paula fillmore A came Rio Venturon, that whole

area More Park. It's been bad, it's been very bad.
A lot of homes destroyed. The fire still rages, Still
homes are still burning, land is still burning, the winds
are still high and Steve Kreeger is with us, retired
captain from La County Fire Department. See how you Bob, Hey,
(27:04):
Jimmy ding Dong ding Dong with you, buddy. I am
heartbroken to see these homes, especially you know people have
been up there thirty forty fifty years. They may not
have fire insurance and they're looking at a complete loss
as we come up on Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays.
It's a disaster. And I know they have a thousand
(27:25):
firefighters out there. There was a rumor going around yesterday
that they ran out of water the fire. The chief
came out and said, that's absolutely not true.
Speaker 7 (27:34):
Is that.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
Have you ever been in a case where you're fighting
a fire and you ran out of water?
Speaker 6 (27:40):
Yes? I have, but in different situations happen. Those engines
carry five hundred gallons okay and water, and there may
not be a fire hydrant nearby, so they may have
to stop their operation go get some more water, or
they have a water tender. It's like a water tanker
that brings up water two to three thousand gallons. But
years ago, in the early eighties, that have the fire
(28:01):
up in Bradbury up there above dwarty and the backup
pumps were electrically run, and so the pump stopped running
when the power went out. So bring tankers up. And
the only way we get water was by taking our
small rubber hose like a little bit garden hose and
putting into swimming pool and park down below suck the
(28:23):
water out swimming pool. But it happens. And you get
into rural areas, you don't have, you know, fire hydrants
every six hundred feet like you do in a suburban area.
You may have to go, you know, and a quarter
miles to find a fire hydrant to get some water.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Steve, I don't understand if they if people have a
pool and you live up in the hills, I still
don't understand why you wouldn't spend two three thousand dollars
on a high velocity pump that can pump you know,
six seven thousand gallons of water on the house as
the fire approaches real quickly. I'm stunned that everybody doesn't
that not every single person has one of those pumps.
Speaker 6 (28:58):
Exactly a good idea to have that not just for
the personal use, but if the fire department gets there,
they could use water pump to the fire engine and
then the firefighters could use their higher pressure hoses and
do a much better job. But these people don't buy
these pumps because it's a you know, at every twenty
or thirty year occurrence. They figure, like, why spend the money,
(29:21):
you know, if you don't have to. The best thing
is the new deal, the new fire codes that will
require a swimming pool to have a pipe that goes
out to the street up front of the house. But
that's on all new construction or any new swimming pools
in high fire hazard areas. But yeah, it'd be good
to have a pump. It'd really be good to have
(29:42):
a generator and have an electrically operated pump. That way,
you use the generator the power goes out or anything else,
and when there's not a fire, but having the generator.
A lot of the new generators are dual fuel or trifuel,
where they run on gas, propane or natural gas.
Speaker 1 (29:58):
You know, we were talking earlier to Chris Adler, who's
up there with KFI, and she said there are fire folks, firemen,
fire women, fire engines from as far south as Torrance,
as far north as Santa Barbara. Man When these guys
come in and they come up there to help. The
local firemen must be just have such a sense of
(30:23):
family and brotherhood that people are coming to help them out.
It must be a feeling that is sort of unequaled
in the real world.
Speaker 6 (30:32):
Oh absolutely, yeah. I'm sure they're probably even coming from
further than that. If you have areas where the fire
weathers and as bad, they're probably coming from further up
north northern California. And I don't know if Orange County
or San Diego County send anybody up there, but it's
very likely. I would imagine Orange County's probably sent some
people up there. Not uncommon strike teams like Torrents or
(30:54):
Dondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, those departments get together, send a
strike team of five engines and a chief. La County's
got a ton of units all over the place right
now in La County, I think every reserve engine is
being staffed to back fill for the engines that left
went venture A County.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
So let me ask you a question about that mutual
aid and assistance. When they leave Torrents and there's five
fire trucks, are they going lights and sirens and on
the freeway, are they escorted by CHP the whole way.
Speaker 6 (31:23):
They don't have their lights on, but they're usually not.
They're not escorted by CHP, but the battalion chief, who's
usually a pickup truck or a suburban, who lead the
way in five engines and they'll get in the diamond
lane or the you know, the number one lane, and
they keep.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Going and and once they get there, are they on
the are they on the on the cell phone or
the radio the entire way up where they know where
to go immediately or do they have to check in
and sort of get their assignment.
Speaker 6 (31:51):
Well, it depends on the nature of the fire. If
there's an immediate need, you don't go to check in,
you go give you an assignment right away. They have
a radio frequence they use for travel to get up there,
and they'll be in contact with the command center. On
the fire that's grand need, they'll send them right to
where they're needed. If it isn't quite so immediate, they'll
(32:13):
send them to the command center and make sure their
rigs get fueled up because by them they'll probably have
a fuel trust and get them fueled up them all right.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
