Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's KFI AM six forty and you're listening to The
Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app k IF
I AM six forty. It is The Conway Show and
we are in high pursuit mode. We've got a van
that is leaving the cops. Was on the five north

(00:21):
bound getting off here at what exit, San Fernando. What
do you go?

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Two ten? I thinks the ten heading east bound?

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Really okay? Yeah, then there's a there'll be a lows
on the right hand side. There is that the two
ten to one eighteen two ten, So will they.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Passed the one eighteen already right on?

Speaker 3 (00:44):
So I don't know what is there.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
I think if if that's the exit that I think
it is, they'll be a Maybe they're further north than
I think they are. Are they up near the fourteen
where the fourteen and the five meet or are they
doing that crazy where you know, you get off the
five and you find yourself on the two ten.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Yeah, they were just before the fourteen, so they were
on the five, okay, and then looks like they're heading
on the to ten east now, all.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Right, two ten east bound? If they stay on this
oh yeah, he's gonna she is gonna get off here.
And I think maybe I'm wrong, but I think there's
a low's right there. I do remember seeing. Maybe maybe
I'm confused here, that's possible. But oh look another storage place,
another storage place, a mini mall, a storage place. Man,

(01:38):
oh man, that these guys who live in that area
haven't made you know, when you have storage, like Krozer,
you're in Claremont. When you have storage, you probably do
drive ten, fifteen, twenty miles if you had to get
to it. You live in this area, your next door
to your stuff, Yeah, right next door to it. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
Sometimes it takes a minute to get to where I
need to get to there it is in Clont Another
storage place, another storage place.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Man, oh man, they're all, lord, do you have storage?

Speaker 6 (02:03):
Croach?

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Not like this?

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yeah? All right. They're pulled over. And man, it's a woman.
And maybe she's had a breakup. Let's give her that.
You know, maybe she's thinking about, you know, how things
used to be and how great they were, and now
she's busted up and thinking about your new life. Right.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Oh, she's on the move again. She's on the move again.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
But maybe she's like a you.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Know, very.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Very very sympathetic towards you know, her ex husband or
ex boyfriend or girlfriend or woman friend. I don't know,
And maybe that that was all the maybe that was
involved with the shooting. But it's rare to see a
woman nowadays running away from the cops. It's about ninety
percent guys. Thill was really a guy's game. But again,

(02:59):
maybe she's going through a bad breakup. So if she's
listening in the car, if you're in that van and
you're listening to KF five, first of all, we thank you,
you know for tuning in. Yeah, but if you are
put on your hazards so we know that you're listening
to us, and because.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Then we'll be with you, and you'll be.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
With us, a little visual shout out that's right, that's right,
and we'll play a song or two. Maybe you've had
a bad breakup and you know you're in the mood
for a song about better times. Who knows?

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Is she hitting back east on the two tennis? That
what she's doing.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
It looks like where is that?

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Well, she's going west now, So it turned around she's
going west.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
She's on a connector here and I'm not familiar with that.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Is that the one seventy.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Maybe I'm going to guess the five north bound.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Five north bound, all right, and maybe she had Yeah, yesterday,
it was a different day for her, probably had the boyfriend,
the dog, everything was working out, and then today, bang,
it's over, and she wishes it was yesterday by the Beatles, Yesterday, yesterday,

(04:08):
all her trouble, she of far away Now the cops
looked like the day.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Oh, I believe in yesterday.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
What a life she had yesterday? How the man I
used to be and the van I used to make.
There's a shadow hanging old me who asked today.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Sun why she had to cleave the comps don't say?

Speaker 1 (04:49):
And running away from the cops. So oh, yes, she
rob launch fore yesterday right ja massive made her life
a mess?

Speaker 4 (05:03):
You know it.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Was pretty sad. Is This is not the first bad
decision she's had in her life, not even close. But
we get to see the big one. We get to
see the major, the real bad decisions. You know, when
you eat like a Snicker's for breakfast. We didn't get
to see that. Or you know, maybe she uh, I

(05:26):
don't know, put the wrong kind of gas in her
tank and we didn't get to see that some of
the little mistakes like that we didn't get to see.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
So ABC seven is apparent is saying that there are
reports of two people that were shot in Echo Park
that related to this.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
No, oh, that's horrible. All right, Well that's the big
The worst day of her life is on TV and
everybody's watching it. The very worst day of her life
is on television, and we all get to a sort
of you know, me with her one big family. All right,
she's on on her tires again, she's off, she's running.

(06:03):
She is I five southbound and I believe that's southbound,
right one. They're calling it northbound, all right. Channel five
is calling it southbound. All right, it's northbound. And so
we're gonna get to a point where she's gonna have
to make a decision whether she's going fourteen or staying
on the five. Is that correct?

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Yeah, she's passing the fourteen right now.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Talka all right? So she knows fourteen Palmdale, Lancaster. There's
a great Low's up there off of Golden Valley, beautiful
beautiful lows and also Costco up there, And if you
go on further off Golden there's a Walmart and a
Sam's Club. You're gonna a rattlesnake barbecue place, love it,
gonna love it. But if you go into the Rattlesnake

(06:47):
Barbecue place at this time, right around five fifteen line line,
you don't want Liones not your friend today. But there's
fast food up there as well. Or if she goes
to five, you can hang out, you can head towards
ham Burger Hill, all the fast food places there, and
then later on you're gonna run into Magic Mountain. So
she's on her way either five or fifteen. She's coming

(07:08):
up on a decision here and we'll come back. We'll
continue to follow this this woman running away from the
cops with a doggie in the car.

Speaker 7 (07:17):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty KFI.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Heyes, at sixth forty, it's Conway show Man. You got
to see the setup we have here at KFI. We're
oh Bellio's posting videos. We've got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven,
huge TVs two, four, five, seven, nine and eleven, all
of them watching this woman. I guess allegedly a woman

(07:45):
or been unverified, but there's some kind of shooting where'd
you say, Crojin Echo Park? Is that where they shooting was?

Speaker 5 (07:52):
Yes, they were actually showing video a little bit earlier.
Polease still there looking into whatever investigation was taking place.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
There, all right, and she's fleeing the cops five northbound.
She decided not to take the fourteen. I don't know
what she has against the Anelope Valley. I don't know.
Maybe she doesn't like you people in Palmdale and Lancaster,
how dare she? Or maybe she heard he's gonna get
in the high thirties, low forties tonight. Should have a shawl?

(08:19):
Do you think she owns a shawl? Do you think
she owns a shawl? I don't know, you think maybe?

Speaker 3 (08:24):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
I don't know. But scars, yeah, yes, yes, a poncho
would be great. You'd fit right in here in Valencia,
the home of the Poncho, if you know.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
That awesome town.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Yeah, that's right, it's awesome town except for this woman.
But she's got her dog with her, little Dougie. And
it started around four to twenty five pm and may
be connected to a shooting. Two victims in Echo Park.
Hopefully they're okay, and at least one dog one dog
shot in the car. Yeah, but what a busy day

(08:55):
for the dog. You know, gunshots are always really trying
for dogs, you know, they it rattles them.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
That dog did not wake up expecting the day that
it's currently having.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Right to see two people shot that he probably knew.
And then be with this, uh, with this woman running
away from at least nine cop cars, and she's I
hope she doesn't get up to baby Baby pulled. Yeah, babe,
baby baby bit plays, but she's going. I hope she
doesn't get up to you know, up into the grapevine
there where we lose her. Yeah, you know that's that's

(09:30):
that's where chases go to die up in that area.
And and I wouldn't do that up there because we
want to launch, and also you're gonna be out of range,
and so you know, those cops could, uh, you know,
mess you up a little bit. So you want to
you want to stay local. But if she passes Magic
Mountain and she passes all the exits at Lake Casteak,

(09:52):
then she's gone. She's gone. She'll be up in Bakersfield
and we won't be able to watch that anymore.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
Who's it? Who's a flying for you angel today. Who's
up in the air.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Oh, we've got Will Cole Schreiber.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Will and but he couldn't go out there right. There
was too much with the Santannas.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, too much turbulent.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Ah, that's horrible. I remember the old Will Coleschreiver. He
used to drive through eighty.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Mile an hour winds. And now he's gotten older, he's
got kids.

Speaker 7 (10:20):
He was a man.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
He's not at all.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
I miss that Will, all right.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
So he looks like he's passing I he's going to
pass Magic Mountain. He's out in Valencia. I saw some
people in the overpass. Maybe they're listening to KFI and
the news coming their way. And once he passes Magic Mountain,
there's a great Tommy's there at that exit.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Oh the chili they make, I don't know why it's
so good, but that Tommy's is great. After a long
day at the park, slide it. That's what you want,
by the way, after a long day of eating trap
at the park, Yeah, go load up on a chili
cheeseburger for the ride home.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
That'll complete the day.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Yeah, which is uh there, And they're usually set to
go off about an hour after you down them.

Speaker 5 (11:05):
You do have to time it right, Yes, you do
down start challenge before you're too far from home.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Still, yeah, timing is going to be everything for that car.
But if you're in that van and you're listening to KFI,
flick your headlights on and off a dozen times or so,
just so we know you're with us, and you know
we're with you. We're all part of the same one
this year, you know, we flow in and out of
everything together. Cop car just flew byer, flew byer. I

(11:30):
guess I'm going to look at some spike strips. Yay, Look,
if you don't flash your lights, I understand you're busy.
I get that. But let us know that you're you know,
you're listening to KFI, and maybe we can talk you
out of this, because this is these In our experience,
we've seen a lot of these, not a lot of men, well,
not a lot of them. And I saw a radical

(11:52):
one end up right about where she is right now,
where a guy was going up he passed Lake Casteak
and there an eighteen wheeler parked off the right shoulder,
and this car purposely flew right into it and decapitated
himself and killed himself instantly, and that was a radical,
radical chase. The end of that chase. All right, so

(12:14):
we're northbound five. We're probably gonna lose this chase in
the next five to ten minutes because of the time
of day when it's dark and it's night. They can't
see the horizon if you're in a helicopter, and it's
very tough to get the signal back to LA. So
a lot of them will bail. We'll see who the
first one to bail is. But right now it's on two, four, five, seven, nine,

(12:35):
and eleven. Everybody's on it. We're on it here at KFI.
We've been on it since a little after about four
forty five or so almost yeah, around about four thirty, yeah,
four thirty Steve Kreager was gonna come on with us
Melley County Fire Department, and then this chase started right
around five thirty.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
They're coming up on Lake here fourth third now right,
like you said, right, it could stay. Oh Man.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Cast Steak if you're if you're if you're running low
on fuel, has a big arco there with about ten pumps,
twelve pumps. I don't if the cops are gonna let
you do that maybe not, but that's the exit where
a lot of people who take their boats up the
Lake Casteak they fill up on snacks, coffee, and fuel
and then they're off to the lake. There's also a

(13:19):
good Jack in the Box there right there too. Oh
and there's a great Mexican place. Oh my god, I
can't remember the name of it, but there's a fantastic
Mexican place that's right on that exit right there. She's
got to pull over. Oh man, I'll come up with
the name of it a look online. But it's some
of the best food I've ever had in my life.

(13:41):
Mexican restaurant right at that exit, right there, the Lake
Casteak exit. It is beautiful, so it doesn't look like
she's going to be pulling over and getting gas or
snacks or food or anything. She is high tailing it
and getting up into the mountains. Maybe she's a mountain
goal all right. Born and raised I don't know, Colorado,
West Virginia, and she's a mountain mama. There there's the

(14:06):
fast food right there. That's the art Go I was
talking about, right there, next to that little motel. And
then a little further down about where she is right now.
That's where that great Mexican joint is. And uh and
and by the way, you're gonna see this storage storage storage,
boat storage, coming up on boat storage, coming up on

(14:26):
self storage. That's a whole big run out there as well.
Everybody lives in Valencia. They store crap in this area,
all of them. They all go and store all their
boats and their trailers and their RV's. It's all in
that area. Northbound five going yeah, oh, no, what do
we lose? Who do we lose? Oh, you're about to

(14:47):
lose five Yeah. Channel seven is staying with us, Four
is with us, Fox eleven News is with us.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
And now she's gonna go. She's gonna hit that incline.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Now that she's past uh, you know, the last exit,
the to get off at Lake cast Steak. And now
she's gone, she's gonna be up in the mountains. This mountain, mama. Oh,
that's where they're north and southbound criss cross. So now
she's on the Oh, they just spiked her. Oh they
spiked her. Okay, so maybe we can see the end.

(15:17):
Maybe we can see the end. Channel seven has the
best footage. It looks like it's almost daytime. I don't
know what kind of camera they're using on Channel seven,
but it looks spectacular.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
I don't know if she avoided or not.

Speaker 5 (15:28):
It looked like she went over onto the onto the
far left shoulder and I saw them pull back the strip,
So I don't know if they actually got her or not.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
We'll find out, and they could pit they could pit her.
Right here there it is by the way boat storage RV.
It's all right there. All that crap is right there.
Guy's got a boat. He used it eight.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Times the first month, and then storage it's like twelve years.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
Oh there he goes. There's right there. Spiked him right there.
She got spiked radically right there, radically like all four tires.
She's done. She's done.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Channel seven is probably.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Like just hang on a little long. Yeah. No, they're
they're gonna hang on to this because in the next
minute she's gonna be on Rims Sparks ahoy, I'll be
We'll see the spark show. And then what we don't
want to see is that van catch on fire, because
that's gonna happen as well. Those old vans, those astro vans,

(16:19):
they don't do well on Rims. Here we go there,
and here we go the sparks and when you have
all four tires on rims loud inside loud.

Speaker 5 (16:30):
That dog's gonna be going greaty oh man, man, that
doggies looks like it's slowing down.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Yeah, she's done.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
She is done drifting a little maybe, I don't know she's.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
Gonna have she's gonna try to steer and that's gonna
be a spark show. And now it's over. Now we
have to figure out is she gonna leave peacefully or
is this gonna be a three hour stand off with
swat once she.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
Stops voluntarily or otherwise she's not gonna be able to
get going anyways, because there's no way she's gonna get
all that that thing moving in going uphill.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
Yeah, she's she is, she's cooked. It's over. She knew
the rules, she knew the boundaries.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Mahallow, like you said, they could totally pit her here too.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
Yeah, they could. I think that they're probably one of
the reasons. Well, she's got a dog. I don't know
if that affects it. And she's also been allegedly shooting
people and they don't like that either. But it's it's
surprising how far she's going on just rims. She has
just four rims, that's all she's uh, she's sliding on now.
And now this is gonna be you know, this is

(17:30):
Thursday Getaway Thursday. A lot of people use that freeway
to go up to Bakersfield, San Francisco, Fresno, and now
that freeway is gonna be unable to pass that area.
It's gonna be clogged up. It's gonna be shut down,
perhaps for hours, depending on on you know, the attitude
of this woman, and if she doesn't get out of

(17:51):
that van, it could be swat. They have to come
from downtown, and it's gonna be a mess, uh mess.
All right, we're gonna keep watching it. We've got to
take a small break here, and then we'll come back
and tell you what happened or what continues to happen
on this high speed chase off a little bit north
of Lake cast Steak on the five Freeway.

Speaker 7 (18:10):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
Am sixty.

Speaker 6 (18:16):
Is this.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
Ozempic ed? All right? She's getting out of the car.
This woman is getting out of the car. She's got
her dog, she's got her puppy with her. You know.
She's on the five freeway north of cast Steak. She's
getting out in her red jacket. She's yelling at the cops.
That's so far, everything's usual.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Does she hat pants on? Yes, just pants on.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
She's got a red jacket. I don't know if that's
a Trump jacket or Angel's jacket. But she's got some
kind of logo on that jacket. She's got a dog.
I don't see any weapon. Angry as hell, yelling at
the cops. One hand up, the other hand kind of
up because the dog's in it. Yeah, and she loves

(19:02):
that doggie though, you know, got to give her that.
She's putting that dog. It's a it's a red plaid shirt. No,
she's getting back in the car.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Never mind.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
Yeah, she's done.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
Never mind.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
Now she's gonna I don't know if she's gonna try
and start up again. It's on rims. They've they've spiked
all four of her tires. So if you own a
tire store in the Casteak area, you're gonna have a
new customer. Somebody needs four new ones for that van.
I don't know what size they are. One thirty fives,
I bet one fifty five. I don't know, but somebody

(19:35):
needs new tires. Those are gone because the cops pay
for that. Probably not.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
Probably that's getting out again.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
You getting up, showing that she has no weapon. The
dog doesn't know what to do. Dog wants to get
out with her. You know, that's a that's a loyal
cool dogie. Now dog's jumping in the back with that
custom sort of mesh window. That can't be you know, factory.
There's no way that's cussed. That's factory. No way, that's

(20:07):
a do it yourself job with that window. She's hands up,
red plaid shirt, black shorts, white T shirt, stains, no
surprises so far, stains, black shoes, black socks.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Listen, know they had a healthy meal beforehand. Yeah, and
what do you want me to do with him? She
does not know what to do.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Act in the car and slamming the door at this time. There,
she's pissed. Now, she's really angry. They've pissed her off. Now,
SWAT's gonna have to come out if she stays in
that van any longer. They probably already called Swat. So
Angel wear how much back up on northbound five? And

(20:55):
is it a couple miles already?

Speaker 2 (20:57):
Yeah, it's getting pretty bad.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
So they it looks like they've stop traffic at a
right in the middle of the crossover. Oh no, And
I'm seeing the laser he backing up from the lower
crossover area.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
So it's it's Thursday's a big day through there, all right,
people going to Bakersfield, Friest, and now San Francisco. Okay,
all right, she's got her trucks too, Yes, that's right,
that's right. Yeah, a lot of commerce flying through there.
The dog is staying in the car. She'll probably be
asked to shut the door so the dog doesn't get out. Well,
where's the dog gonna go. There's no traffic, can't run

(21:31):
in traffic. But it could go run in the mountains
and get lost. That's not good.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
So I'm more concerned about the dog.

Speaker 6 (21:38):
Right now.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
She is putting her hands out, hands up. She's got
what looks like a phone, maybe a cell phone in
one hand, and yelling at the cops. She's got Maybe
she's a numpire looks like she has a chest protector.
That's possible. I don't know, is that she's an ump

(22:01):
and has a chest protector or is that something she
should address with her doctor? Looks like she's put on
a few that's.

Speaker 5 (22:11):
A barrel shape, but very much like an umpire, like
you said, played umpire. Yeah, I just calling balls and
strikes here kids. She is standing on the side of
the road. Now she's again having a conversation with the cops.
She's hands out, don't shoot, and she's yelling and she doesn't.

(22:31):
She's got a lot of bright lights. She has about
eighteen lights in her face. She doesn't want to get
on the pavement. They've been asked her to get on
the pavement. She doesn't want to do that.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
I think that's what that was about.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Yeah, yeah, Now she's gonna put her life in danger
and walk towards the cops. That's not a good move.
She going down, not yet. She's still upright, biped, walking
around enjoying herself, and she does not want to go down.
She doesn't want to lay on the pavement, doesn't want
more stains on the white tea. She's had it with

(23:05):
the stains. He says, what's that? What's that pen you
put on to get stains off? Tied pen? Y? Yeah,
a race pen. Yeah, somebody needs that. I also, if
you don't mind me observing the white T shirt has
been washed with colors. It's not the right. Yeah, she

(23:25):
did not separate it is. It has been washed with
colors in the past, and it's been dulled, so it's
used some hot water instead of cold. That's always a mistake. Yep,
that's right, that's right.

Speaker 6 (23:37):
You know.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
He laundry and a little bleach too. But it looks
like the shirt you know, I'm I'm in. It's there's
a long shot on. The cops are approaching her now,
but it looks like that shirt was bought at CBS.
All right, cops are right on her. Yeah, all right,
hands uh they coughed her. Okay, she's done. She is done.

(24:01):
It's over. This chase is Code four. She's going to
do some speed wrapping in downtown LA. Wherever they take her.
I'll probably offer her a meal, she'll change clothes, and
then she'll have a lot of people asking questions. Lots
of questions tonight, Lots of them. The shooting, the running
away from the cops, Questions about the dog, questions about

(24:25):
the who's the guy that repaired the window in the
car that did a horrible job. Lots of questioning tonight.
The Dogie's in that car. It's still in the car.
They're trying to open the back door with the mesh window.
Can't do it, and code four, code four. Nobody else
in the car. Just a dog. Now we've got to

(24:48):
figure out what to do with the dog. Pull the
car off the freeway, open it back up so these
truckers and these people going to Fresno for the weekend
can get there. A lot of people going up that area.
Just one dog looks like just one dog on Yeah,
I've not seen the dog come out of there though.
I don't see anyone that grabbed the dog out of there.

(25:09):
They're pulling blankets out of the back. I didn't see
the dog. I hope he's still in there. I hope
didn't run away. Maybe his dog is it still.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
In the front I can't tell. You can't get the door.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
Yeah, that that door has had it's had it. There's
a lot that a lot of damage to that car,
you know, a lot of neglecting, a lot of putting off,
a lot of procrastination when it comes to repairs.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
I didn't see the end of that dog.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
That worries me. Where that dog is?

Speaker 2 (25:43):
Didn't she put it in his little seatbelt?

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Oh, maybe maybe it's still in the car. All right.
I don't know what they do now, but that dog's
got to find new home, which is gonna be great
for that dog. All Right, that's a wrap code for
Chase over. We'll come back and talk about to Steve
Kreeger if he's still awake about the fire in Oxnard.
He's La County retired chief or captain, right, tired captain

(26:10):
with La County fire. We'll ask him what's going on
up in with our friends in Ventura.

Speaker 7 (26:15):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM sixty KFI AM.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
It's like forty It's Conway Show. That's a great mo
Kelly promo. Dogs don't belong in grocery stores and if
you bring your dog in a grocery store, people will
shame look you, they will stare at you like they're
ashamed of you. All Right. The fire going on up
in Santa Paula fillmore A came Rio Venturon, that whole

(26:43):
area More Park. It's been bad, it's been very bad.
A lot of homes destroyed. The fire still rages, Still
homes are still burning, land is still burning, the winds
are still high and Steve Kreeger is with us, retired
captain from La County Fire Department. See how you Bob, Hey,

(27:04):
Jimmy ding Dong ding Dong with you, buddy. I am
heartbroken to see these homes, especially you know people have
been up there thirty forty fifty years. They may not
have fire insurance and they're looking at a complete loss
as we come up on Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays.
It's a disaster. And I know they have a thousand

(27:25):
firefighters out there. There was a rumor going around yesterday
that they ran out of water the fire. The chief
came out and said, that's absolutely not true.

Speaker 7 (27:34):
Is that.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
Have you ever been in a case where you're fighting
a fire and you ran out of water?

Speaker 6 (27:40):
Yes? I have, but in different situations happen. Those engines
carry five hundred gallons okay and water, and there may
not be a fire hydrant nearby, so they may have
to stop their operation go get some more water, or
they have a water tender. It's like a water tanker
that brings up water two to three thousand gallons. But
years ago, in the early eighties, that have the fire

(28:01):
up in Bradbury up there above dwarty and the backup
pumps were electrically run, and so the pump stopped running
when the power went out. So bring tankers up. And
the only way we get water was by taking our
small rubber hose like a little bit garden hose and
putting into swimming pool and park down below suck the

(28:23):
water out swimming pool. But it happens. And you get
into rural areas, you don't have, you know, fire hydrants
every six hundred feet like you do in a suburban area.
You may have to go, you know, and a quarter
miles to find a fire hydrant to get some water.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
Steve, I don't understand if they if people have a
pool and you live up in the hills, I still
don't understand why you wouldn't spend two three thousand dollars
on a high velocity pump that can pump you know,
six seven thousand gallons of water on the house as
the fire approaches real quickly. I'm stunned that everybody doesn't
that not every single person has one of those pumps.

Speaker 6 (28:58):
Exactly a good idea to have that not just for
the personal use, but if the fire department gets there,
they could use water pump to the fire engine and
then the firefighters could use their higher pressure hoses and
do a much better job. But these people don't buy
these pumps because it's a you know, at every twenty
or thirty year occurrence. They figure, like, why spend the money,

(29:21):
you know, if you don't have to. The best thing
is the new deal, the new fire codes that will
require a swimming pool to have a pipe that goes
out to the street up front of the house. But
that's on all new construction or any new swimming pools
in high fire hazard areas. But yeah, it'd be good
to have a pump. It'd really be good to have

(29:42):
a generator and have an electrically operated pump. That way,
you use the generator the power goes out or anything else,
and when there's not a fire, but having the generator.
A lot of the new generators are dual fuel or trifuel,
where they run on gas, propane or natural gas.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
You know, we were talking earlier to Chris Adler, who's
up there with KFI, and she said there are fire folks, firemen,
fire women, fire engines from as far south as Torrance,
as far north as Santa Barbara. Man When these guys
come in and they come up there to help. The
local firemen must be just have such a sense of

(30:23):
family and brotherhood that people are coming to help them out.
It must be a feeling that is sort of unequaled
in the real world.

Speaker 6 (30:32):
Oh absolutely, yeah. I'm sure they're probably even coming from
further than that. If you have areas where the fire
weathers and as bad, they're probably coming from further up
north northern California. And I don't know if Orange County
or San Diego County send anybody up there, but it's
very likely. I would imagine Orange County's probably sent some
people up there. Not uncommon strike teams like Torrents or

(30:54):
Dondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, those departments get together, send a
strike team of five engines and a chief. La County's
got a ton of units all over the place right
now in La County, I think every reserve engine is
being staffed to back fill for the engines that left
went venture A County.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
So let me ask you a question about that mutual
aid and assistance. When they leave Torrents and there's five
fire trucks, are they going lights and sirens and on
the freeway, are they escorted by CHP the whole way.

Speaker 6 (31:23):
They don't have their lights on, but they're usually not.
They're not escorted by CHP, but the battalion chief, who's
usually a pickup truck or a suburban, who lead the
way in five engines and they'll get in the diamond
lane or the you know, the number one lane, and
they keep.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
Going and and once they get there, are they on
the are they on the on the cell phone or
the radio the entire way up where they know where
to go immediately or do they have to check in
and sort of get their assignment.

Speaker 6 (31:51):
Well, it depends on the nature of the fire. If
there's an immediate need, you don't go to check in,
you go give you an assignment right away. They have
a radio frequence they use for travel to get up there,
and they'll be in contact with the command center. On
the fire that's grand need, they'll send them right to
where they're needed. If it isn't quite so immediate, they'll

(32:13):
send them to the command center and make sure their
rigs get fueled up because by them they'll probably have
a fuel trust and get them fueled up them all right.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
See, I appreciate we got to take a break here
we come back, we're gonna have a press conference of
the fire, so please stay on KFI, especially if you
live up in Camerio and Ventura. We're gonna have a
lot more information for you when we come back. We're
live on KFI AM six forty Conway Show on demand
on the iHeartRadio app. Now you can always hear us
live on KFI AM six forty four to seven pm

(32:47):
Monday through Friday, and anytime on demand on the iHeart
