Speaker 5 (02:11):
I a shout out to my beautiful daughter. She just
started a brand new job and she's working in a school,
and all I heard from one of her bosses that
all the kids are absolutely in love with her, and
the only two things I taught her beyond time and
don't panic, and she got both of those down pat
Everything else comes from her beautiful mom my wife, and
(02:34):
I couldn't be more proud of this fantastic young lady.
Thank you very much. It is so great to get
good reports.
Speaker 6 (02:40):
On your kids.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
And man, is she a beautiful kid, just inside and
out spectacular. Best things ever happened, made by a billion
light years. Nothing is clumsy, nothing's closed, nothing's close.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
All right?
Speaker 5 (02:53):
Doctors, speaking of daughters, a doctor who has nine daughters
is with us, doctor Raka Sherry, how.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
You, Bob.
Speaker 7 (03:00):
Kim? I'm doing great.
Speaker 6 (03:02):
Oh that's fantastic. Is that tree you have nine daughters?
Speaker 7 (03:07):
Of course not, but I love it when you bring
that up. So that's great.
Speaker 6 (03:13):
How many daughters do you have?
Speaker 7 (03:14):
I was just thinking, I remember going on this show
when you had your daughter. I think you're right. Your
daughter is getting employed at this.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
Point, she's nineteen years old and working at a at
a elementary school, in a kindergarten.
Speaker 7 (03:32):
That is that is incredible, unbelievable. I hadn't put together
the fact that you and I have known each other
that long.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
It's crazy, you know, I've known you for I mean
it's it's literally almost twenty years.
Speaker 7 (03:47):
Yeah, that's absolutely right. That is incredible.
Speaker 6 (03:50):
It is wild, Doctor Ray.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
I gotta tell everybody you know, for people you know,
new listeners, doctor ray Kuscherry, a world class pollmonologist out
of Saint Jose in Orange County. You are the main
reason why a lot of people were able to navigate
through COVID. You came on and said, it's not gonna,
you know, wipe everybody out. Here's what you got to
look out for, this, this, this, and this, here's what
(04:13):
you got to do to stay alive. And I guarantee
you not only your expert advice, but you're soothing bedside
man or saved a lot of lives here in Los
Angeles a lot.
Speaker 7 (04:22):
Well, thanks Tim, thank you. You know the other thing
I gotta tell you, I have a daughter who's a
kindergarten teacher as well.
Speaker 6 (04:27):
Hey, mazel Tov daughter number six.
Speaker 7 (04:32):
Five, Tim, Okay, that was funny.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
Five daughters and a medical career. That is a lot
of balancing of time.
Speaker 7 (04:43):
And you know, every now and then I wander into
that kindergarten classroom, and I could never do what she does,
oh bed, but sometimes you got to go to the classroom.
Blow your mind.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
On a personal note here, what is the age range?
I mean not not how old are they, but from
youngest to oldest? How many years between the youngest and
oldest daughter?
Speaker 7 (05:03):
Youngest to oldest? Twenty years? I think?
Speaker 5 (05:07):
Okay, So at one point you had a very you know,
a career that you had to build when you were younger,
and you had five daughters and a wife to also
spend time with.
Speaker 6 (05:17):
I don't know how you do something like that.
Speaker 7 (05:20):
Well, the secret is you have to marry. Well, no,
I'm dead serious about that, because when you're working as
much as I did, and I devoted a lot of
my life to medicine, you have to be able to
turn over the reins of the family to your spouse.
But you don't have the ability to do that, it's
(05:41):
all going to fall apart.
Speaker 6 (05:42):
I think you're right.
Speaker 7 (05:43):
The other thing is you have to have a value system.
The kids have to grow up with some kind of
a value system, because that's what takes on occasion of
mom and dad when you can't be there every hour
of every day. And they have to have something to
fall back on. Plus and uh, and that's that's what
we have.
Speaker 6 (06:03):
They have to have a little fear of dad too.
Speaker 7 (06:07):
Well, we had a little of that.
Speaker 6 (06:09):
Okay, because at that.
Speaker 5 (06:12):
They've seen Dad blow up, either professionally or personally, and
they remember that. They put that in the back of
their mind and they remember that.
Speaker 7 (06:19):
No, they tell stories they have and every now and
then we have some good laughs about that. But yes,
have some stories.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
Plus, with five daughters, a wife, and a medical career,
did you ever consider, like, even just for a second,
writing yourself a prescription for valuum?
Speaker 7 (06:38):
Uh No, I never. I never liked the valium and uh.
Speaker 6 (06:42):
Oh that's not your pill.
Speaker 7 (06:44):
No, you know why because I I never wanted to
be out of control. I wanted to uh you know,
whatever was going to go down. I wanted to be
in control while what happens. So fun guy to take
the Vega considered it.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
But doctor Ray, I got a question for you, a
professional medical question here.
Speaker 6 (07:07):
So yeah, maybe you can bill us for this.
Speaker 5 (07:09):
I heard that walking pneumonia is a big deal now
with young people.
Speaker 7 (07:14):
Yes, actually, ever since about twenty twenty three, well for
in fact, ever since COVID. Something called michael plasma pneumonia
has been increasing, and it's been increasing in all age groups,
so you know, little kids all the way up to adults.
(07:35):
And this isn't a bacteria. It's one of the smallest
bacterias known. But it causes primarily respiratory infections, so you know, signusitis,
ryan itis in cough, bronchitis, and then pneumonia. But it
(07:56):
generally is pretty mild, so you get over it pretty quickly,
and you know, you have a cost, and most people
get over without antibiotics. Okay, sometimes people get pretty sick,
and when they do, they need some kind of antibiotic.
But a lot of people, in fact, most of the time,
(08:17):
people with michael plasma don't require hospitalization. And that's why
we call it walking pneumonia. So walking pneumonia isn't actually
a medical diagnosis. It's kind of a clinical diagnosis because
they don't require hospitalization.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
Okay, and I haven't seen you in a while. Are
you still on that anti smoking jag.
Speaker 7 (08:40):
I don't think that one's going to change.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
As a pollmonologist, I guess you got to say that
on the.
Speaker 7 (08:45):
Air, right, there's things you got to hang with you know,
every now and then in your life and in your career,
there's certain things you just got to go with.
Speaker 5 (08:54):
But didn't you know doctors personally back when you started,
they were smoking.
Speaker 7 (08:57):
Oh sure, Oh my gosh, yes, I would say when
I started, Oh my gosh, yes, there was a significant
We went through a battle. I recall when we had
to get cigarettes out of the hospital. Some of the
biggest fighters were the doctors. That's crazy, you know.
Speaker 5 (09:20):
I remember my pediatrician used to smoke, and my mom
when he would we I don't want to say his name,
but he's a doctor. He's no longer with us, but
he was in the San Fernando Valley and I remember
whenever we had went into his office, he would have
a cigarette and an ash glass, a big glass ash
tray right there and smoke while he's talking to us.
Speaker 7 (09:38):
I well, you know, we went through uh. You know,
when people fight for something that they know is probably wrong,
they always bring up, you know, freedom of expression or
something like that, and but eventually things can sort it out.
And then then that did, so.
Speaker 6 (09:57):
That is wild. Hey can you stay with us?
Speaker 7 (09:59):
Sure?
Speaker 6 (10:00):
Oh this is great, Okay.
Speaker 5 (10:01):

You're listening to Tim kun Jr. On demand from kf
I am sixty bad bad day.
Speaker 6 (14:07):
For motorcyclists and traffic.
Speaker 5 (14:10):
Motorcyclist LAPD went down on the four h five northbound
right at Scoreball Center where Maholland is and they're trying
to clear that up. I think they have three or
four lanes open now, probably open the other two momentarily,
and then we have the seven to ten that's closed
down in Bell Gardens where the motorcycle guy is that
(14:32):
south it's closed or north it is?
Speaker 13 (14:35):
It is south and they just reopened the right lane.
Speaker 6 (14:38):
The pause, Florence. Okay, excellent, all right, angels, stay on
top of both of those. Don't forget.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
Tomorrow will be in Orange County at Wendy's. So come
on by two three zero two two Alicia Parkway. And
doctor ray is also lives in Orange County and he's
with us, Doctor Ray Sherry, how you, Bob, Bunny.
Speaker 7 (15:00):
We move on because I know you got more questions.
A couple of important points. I got to make. Number one.
The fastesturizing age group that are getting micoplasm pneumonia is children.
And the thing about that that's important is the most
common antibiotic that's used by pediatricians to treat children as ampicillin,
(15:25):
and that will not treat micoplasma. So that's why at
least we sort of want to get the word out
that this is going around right now, and that it's
increasing in kids usually like two to four, but even
you know, higher ages like two to ten, and you
have to use what's called a macrolide, like a xythromycin
(15:47):
or a erythromycin. You can also use a tetracycling derivative
or a floor a coint alone. But the point is
ampicillin will not treat micoplasma. So I wanted to make
that point forward to move on.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
Okay, So ampicillin is has no effect on walking p amumonia.
Speaker 7 (16:05):
None.
Speaker 6 (16:05):
No, And doctors are prescribing that well.
Speaker 7 (16:09):
Yeah, because they don't know that it's micoplasma. So no,
that's why you have to sort of be aware of it.
And that's that's kind of an important point.
Speaker 6 (16:17):
All right.
Speaker 7 (16:17):
And your child has had a cough that's not going away,
and you're into like the fourth week and they're still lethargic,
or they still have low grade fever or you know,
they they do want to eat and that kind of thing,
then you got to test for microplasma to make sure
that that's not what's going on.
Speaker 5 (16:37):
It also could be a sinus affection infection. Is that true?
Speaker 7 (16:40):
Absolutely true? Okay, absolutely true.
Speaker 6 (16:43):
I've learned all this stuff from you, doctor.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
I think I could pass you know, the uh what
is it called the not the bar? What is medcat? Yeah,
I think I could pass that. I don't know what
the test is, but I think I could pass it. Uh, doctor,
are we getting Uh?
Speaker 6 (16:59):
Is it just me?
Speaker 5 (17:00):
Or are we seeing more blood plots nowadays since COVID?
Speaker 7 (17:05):
Well, you know, it does seem to Okay, Number one,
I think we are seeing more blood clots in general
because we're much better at diagnosing it. Oh, We're able
to pick it up more. And the other thing is,
I think people are more sedentary. So the more sedentary
you are, the more we're going to be more blood clots.
(17:27):
Beyond that, I'm not sure that there are more blood clots,
So I'm not willing to say that it's just COVID
related or not. But we're much better at diagnosing it,
and people just aren't moving enough. They got to get
out there and move. Especially, we have these sit down jobs,
(17:49):
and we take long drives and long rides and airplanes
and things that promote blood clots.
Speaker 6 (17:53):
Okay, but look you're talking. I'm like a rock.
Speaker 14 (17:57):
You know.
Speaker 5 (17:57):
The only way, the only time I walk is in
here to the studio and then home my car.
Speaker 7 (18:03):
Set your your Apple watch to go off every thirty
minutes and make you get up and go to the
refrigerator or something.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Keep you moving.
Speaker 5 (18:11):
Okay, doctor, what do we know about the flu shot.
Did they get it right this year?
Speaker 7 (18:17):
Well, we won't know that for sure for a few months,
but yeah, it looks like they did. Okay, we've got
influenza AS running predominantly. It's like ninety two percent or
something in the cases, or influenza A, and it's a
H one N one so far and the other seven
or eight percent or influenza B. So so far, we're okay.
(18:40):
But we haven't had a bad flu season so far,
but we won't really know until March how good or
bad it is. And you asked another question before break,
and I wanted to follow up on that, and that is,
if you get your flu shot now, will it help
you for the Thanksgiving travel rush? And unfortunately, I think
(19:01):
it might be a little late for that because it
takes like two weeks for the flu shot to develop
immunity within your body. But it's still worth getting because
you know you'll get some immunity before the travel rush,
and you know that travel the Thanksgiving travel rush is
(19:23):
going to be brutal this year. They're talking eighteen million
people are going to be traveling. Well, that is when
the influenza season really kicks off. So if you're on
the fence, I would say go get it tomorrow because
you'll get something okay, the before influenza, and two weeks
(19:44):
from now then you'll have some immunity which will help
you out by Christmas and beyond.
Speaker 5 (19:50):
You know, doctor, when you spend more money for a car,
nine out of ten times, maybe ten out of ten times,
you get a better car. If you go buy a
ten thousand a dollar car, it's not going to be
as good as one hundred thousand dollars car. I think
we agree on that, right, Yeah, okay, So the free
flu shots that they offer at the supermarket, are those
(20:10):
as good as the ones you pay thirty five dollars
for at your doctors?
Speaker 7 (20:15):
Yeah? They are. And well you can say why is
that Well, because you're controlled and they're all manufactured in
the same places. Now there is maybe a slight difference,
and that is you're hoping that the free ones have
(20:36):
been handled correctly. No, you have to keep them at
a certain temperature, and you have to in transit, and
not only that, but when they're given at the site,
they have to be controlled in the right way and
handled the right way. But if if those minimal requirements
are met, then you should get the right thing, because
(20:57):
we have certain health standards in this country and hopefully
they are met. So if you go to a reasonably
reputable place like I don't know that I'd go to
a parking lot, parking lot shop for some reason, pharmacy
like that, I think you do okay, okay.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
And then the COVID shot is are you taking it?
And are a lot of people taking it or a
lot of people turned off?
Speaker 7 (21:22):
Well, I think that that's something you talk over with
your doctor. I I'm over sixty five years old, and
I had to wonder should I take this or not?
This year, COVID is really dying out as a infectious illness,
(21:44):
and it's not as bad as it used to be.
It's a it's a whole different animal than we were
dealing with a couple of years ago.
Speaker 6 (21:57):
That's great.
Speaker 7 (21:58):
Folks who are over my age, my agent over. There's
still a problem, and that problem is that we don't
have the same immune system we used to have, and
there is an argument for us to take the shot.
For folks who are younger, that's, you know, something for
(22:20):
them to talk over with their doctor. For folks who
are say under fifty at this point, I really don't
think there is any reason for them to take the shot.
Speaker 6 (22:30):
Wow, if you're in good health.
Speaker 7 (22:32):
Yeah, if you're in good health now. In my case,
I am going to be doing a lot of traveling,
and I did take the shot this year.
Speaker 5 (22:40):
But right, well, you're you're sort of addicted to oculations.
I remember that about you.
Speaker 6 (22:45):
You liked it not for young people, that's right, all.
Speaker 5 (22:50):
Right, doc guy. I love hearing your voice. Please come
back with us more often. I mean, if you came
in every day, we'd make room for you.
Speaker 7 (22:57):
Well, you know, Tim, I enjoyed being on your show.
I think it's great. I think that you you. I
enjoy your introduction. Aback COVID. You know the world changed
during COVID. Yeah, so many ways, and you're back to
those days. And and we got it right. Yeah, you
(23:20):
got it right.
Speaker 6 (23:20):
You got a lot of it right, a lot of.
Speaker 7 (23:22):
Right, which is something you can't say for everybody quite frankly.
So I'm thrilled to be here and it's been fun.

Freak way rough day for motorcyclists. One on the four
to five, a LAPD officer got into an accident with
a car, a blue car. On the four to five
northbound freeway was shut down for quite some time. They're
opening back up. I think there's three or four lanes
that are open. Angel Is it completely open now? On
(27:18):
the four to five they're still keeping a lane off limits.
Speaker 13 (27:22):
It looks like it's still they still have a couple
of lanes. They're just waiting for the tow trucks to
get out there, and they're stuck in traffic as well.
Speaker 5 (27:28):
And then what about the our friends and family on
the seven ten.
Speaker 13 (27:33):
So the seven ten southbound, it's only the right lane
open just past Florence and that is an awful drive
as well, backing up all the way from the sixty freeway.
Speaker 6 (27:46):
Oh man, So everything's backed up, yes, And it's.
Speaker 13 (27:49):
Also slowing down the northbound side because everyone's you know,
slowing down to check out the action on the southbound
side that's backing up all the way from the four h.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
Five and any relief in the canyons going from the
city to the valley.
Speaker 13 (28:03):
Well, let's let me zoom in far enough.
Speaker 6 (28:06):
Benette in cold Water, Laurel, Beverly.
Speaker 13 (28:09):
Glenn's looking busy, so is Benedict. Cold Water is looking
the worst, I'd say, Laurel. Canyons also pretty tough, especially
as you make your way towards Moleholland. But after Moleholland
it eases up a little bit.
Speaker 5 (28:25):
Man, that would drive me crazy if I lived on
cold Water Canyon, and you know, I have a know
there's nine ten million dollar homes on cold Water Canyon
right on that street. And yet every time they go anywhere,
they have to they have to consider traffic everywhere.
Speaker 6 (28:39):
Every time they leave the house.
Speaker 13 (28:41):
It might take you minutes just to get out of
your driveway.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
Right and it could you know, people blocking your driveway,
and you know, and if you're going home, like let's
say you're in the valley in the morning or in
the city in the afternoon and you're going home, it
might take you, you know, an hour to get home,
and you have a nine million dollar house.
Speaker 6 (29:00):
It's ridiculous, just ridiculous, all.
Speaker 5 (29:03):
Right, Thank you Angel Martinez helping us navigate our way
through a very difficult Thursday in mid November. Here, we're
a week away from Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is one week from
to night tonight, so traffic is started today, it's going
(29:24):
to continue all weekend. They're calling for rain Saturday, Sunday, Monday,
possibly Tuesday as well. There's going to be an incredible
storm on the East Coast. It's going to hit the
East Coast on Thanksgiving Day, maybe a couple hours before,
maybe a late Wednesday, but they're calling on Thursday as
(29:46):
the big day for the East Coast. When it comes
to this horrible winter storm, Chicago is going to be
a mess. So there are people listening right now to
K five who are going to be stuck in an
airport with your family, maybe your dog, and your luggage,
and you won't be where you're supposed to be. It's
(30:08):
just a fact. There's gonna be a lot of cancelations.
There's gonna be a lot of delays. So if you're
going home for Thanksgiving and it involves air travel, you've
got to just deal with it. Can't flip out at
these gate agents, can't flip out at the ticket counter,
or the guy taking the bags. It's not his fault.
(30:30):
It's weather, weather related. We've got a weather incident through
most of the country. Right now. In San Francisco, it
is pouring. It is going to be for quite some time.
Look at the ten Day, because I know we have
a lot of people live in southern California and they
go to San fran Cisco for Thanksgiving and the ten
(30:55):
day for San Francisco. I'll look it up so you
don't have to. It's not good. It is not good
at all. But here it is right now fifty eight
degrees and raining. Tomorrow sixty two degrees and raining. Then
you got rain Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, nothing until
(31:18):
no break until Thanksgiving. So if you're going to San Francisco,
you're going to be rained on by from the time
I don't know, you're about halfway to San Francisco until
you get to wherever you're going. A lot of snow
up in the Sierra as well, Sierra Nevada, a ton
of snow up there, tons and so if you're going
(31:39):
over to Reno, cutting over to Reno or Lake Tahoe
should probably have changed with you.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
They may not let you up there without it. Let's
see what mammoth is.
Speaker 5 (31:48):
Well, let's go to let's see Lake Tahoe and what
they're doing up there. For the ten day, a lot
of people slide up to northern Nevada, eastern California.
Speaker 6 (32:00):
Yeah, all right, Nevada. Let's see this.
Speaker 5 (32:03):
Winter storm warning for California and Nevada. Winter storm warning,
not a watch, a warning. Winter storm warning remains in
effect from ten am Friday until ten pm Saturday. Heavy
snow Snow accumulations between one and two feet at the
(32:26):
seven thousand foot level, with two to six inches more
above that. So it is going to it's it's going
to wipe a lot of people out. It's going to
be a really tough weekend and a tough week to
get around.
Speaker 6 (32:43):
That's that's just how it's going to be.
Speaker 5 (32:45):
It seems to be almost every year we get hit
by by Thanksgiving, you know, by these horrible storms right
around Thanksgiving. Let's see if let me see here, San Francisco.
Let me give you a local hold on one second,
let me give you the local NBC Bay Area alert.
(33:09):
Here it says flooded roads, down trees, North Bay, Atmospheric
River continues to plummet the area, and I don't know
if they're talking about it right now. Let me turn
on the volume here and see if they're talking about this.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Staw on up.
Speaker 17 (33:26):
They're gonna get your details on the timing, the totals,
how much more we can expect.
Speaker 6 (33:30):
Okay, this is live in San Francis. Just in case
you missed it.
Speaker 17 (33:34):
Look at the onslaught of rainfall coming in with the
atmospheric river right here, positioned over northern California down to
about the North Bay where it's been stalling out, and
the rainfall totals. Look at this max rainfall list here
from the past two days.
Speaker 6 (33:50):
At ten inches.
Speaker 17 (33:51):
Glastoga now at the top nine point five eight inches
in just forty eight hours, Santa Rosa eight point eight nine,
Yontville six point seven eight, San Rafel over five and
a half, Sonoma.
Speaker 6 (34:03):
Just over five and forty eight hours.
Speaker 17 (34:05):
With this number here in Santa Rose, and really for
a lot of the b area on these high totals,
we've now seen four months worth of rain just two
in two days. Many cities average only two inches for
the entire month. So here's what we're looking at the
system right now. Meeting up with that atmospheric river that's
just kind of hanging out that moves through tomorrow. We'll
(34:27):
see a second one back behind it for Sunday and
early Monday. It doesn't look nearly as strong, so I'm
not really concerned about that. But let's go ahead and
take it into what we're seeing with.
Speaker 6 (34:36):
That right now. And you can this is San Francisco.
Speaker 17 (34:39):
We do have that rain up at a marine Napos.
Sonoma County's little to nothing here San Francisco to the
South Bay.
Speaker 5 (34:44):
Okay, it's gonna be horrible. If you're going up to
northern California, it's just gonna be dreadful.
Speaker 9 (34:49):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 5 (34:54):
The four or five is opened up. Open them up,
Open them up. So that's good news. That's good news.
Speaker 6 (35:02):
Is that true? Angel? Or are they lying to us
that the four or five northbound has opened up? Yes,
totally open all right.
Speaker 18 (35:09):
Angel has has checked out. This is rich four five
that crash, that incident in the Folda Pass has cleared.
Speaker 7 (35:15):
Yes.
Speaker 5 (35:15):
Okay, what about seven ten southbound in Bell Gardens?
Speaker 18 (35:19):
The seven ten southbound in Bell Garden let me take
a quick click for you there. We are still backed
up in that area.
Speaker 5 (35:26):
Okay, Rich, thank you man, I appreciate it, Yes, sir,
all right, Disneyland Resort. The holidays are here at the
Disneyland Resort and KFI wants to give you the chance
to enjoy the wonder joy and magic of the season.
Experienced World of Color, Season of Light, a nighttime spectacular

parade and so much more. So keep listening to KFI
for your chance to win a four pack of one day,
one park tickets to Disneyland Park or Disneyland California Adventure Park.
Speaker 6 (36:07):
That is a great deal.
Speaker 5 (36:09):
Speaking of Disney, there is a brand new cruise ship
that Disney has just taken over. They ordered it years ago.
They it's just been delivered. And Bob Iger, who normally
is you know, normally you get the pr people talking
about the new cruise ship, but Bob Iiger did it personally,
(36:32):
which means it's a big deal. And they're calling this
Disney Treasure, the new Disney Treasure. That's the new cruise
like nothing out there.
Speaker 6 (36:42):
It is unique.
Speaker 19 (36:45):
All aboard the Disney Treasure, the sixth and newest addition
to Disney Cruise Lines expanding fleet. How do you hope
that Disney fans responds?
Speaker 15 (36:53):
Well, I think they'll love it because with each new ship,
it comes new storytelling. And what these ships are all
about is really taking our Disney stories around the world.
As you know, people interact with our stories all the
time in our theme parks, but they're fixed locations. This
gives us an opportunity to tell more stories to more
people and more places, and I think people will just
love it.
Speaker 19 (37:13):
And I've been told that this ship is the first
one a Disney Treasure that was inspired by theme parks.
Speaker 15 (37:20):
Well, in reality, all of them take with them some
things from our theme parks, but this is one that
relies on storytelling that is very specific to theme park.
So Haunted Mansion, first Haunted Mansion we did was in California,
way way back. There's a Haunted Mansion bar here as
a for instance.
Speaker 5 (37:38):
Oh, how great is that the Haunted Mansion bar on
the New Disney Treasure.
Speaker 15 (37:44):
So I think it's the first time that we've actually
expressed theme park storytelling on our.
Speaker 19 (37:48):
Ships so going to be among the ship's most frequented haunts.
A unique experience plucked straight from the theme parks.
Speaker 20 (37:58):
Welcome to the Haunted Mansion, a lounge reminiscent of the
first class lounge from a cruise liner from yesteryear, where
we tell the story of a captain that went on
a disasterly date with his bride to be. Many years ago,
(38:19):
when they were first creating the Disneyland attraction Haunted Mansion,
Walt Disney Imagineering Roly Crump started to create an illusion
of the ghost fish tank that was never actually used
in the attraction itself. We are so happy to be
able to create it here in the Haunted Mansion parlor.
Speaker 19 (38:37):
The ship is paid homage to Walt Disney passion for
travel in exploration.
Speaker 6 (38:42):
This is great. This makes me want to get on.
Get on that ship.
Speaker 5 (38:46):
It's the brand new Disney Treasure, brand spanking new. It'll
be on its first cruise, and I imagine being on
the first cruise.
Speaker 6 (38:55):
Has got to be pretty special.
Speaker 5 (38:57):
Jump on the ship when it first takes off and
buzzes around. Oh man, all right, do we have time
for this? I think we do what the hell here
got a couple minutes. Wizard of Oz Ruby slippers. They
are going up for auction. These are the original red
ruby slippers.
Speaker 21 (39:16):
Movie buffs around the world are clicking their heels and
hoping to score this prize piece of Americana.
Speaker 6 (39:23):
Follow the Yellow Brick Road.
Speaker 21 (39:24):
Judy Garlands ruby slippers, valued in the millions, are up
for auction. Are you surprised by the interest in these shoes?
Speaker 1 (39:31):
Not at all.
Speaker 22 (39:33):
The ruby slippers are considered the holy grail of all
Hollywood memorabilia.
Speaker 21 (39:38):
Brian Chennis works with heritage auctions.
Speaker 22 (39:41):
It's something that people relate to something like this. It's
the emotion that comes out of it is indescribable.
Speaker 21 (39:48):
As was the case for Rebecca Woods. Moved to tears
just passing by. Something's wrong, Becca Woods moved to tears
just passing by.
Speaker 6 (40:00):
Move to tears just by looking at him.
Speaker 4 (40:03):
Why does it stir up emotion for you?
Speaker 6 (40:06):
Just because childhood memories? Yeah, my kids are always likes
mom's favorite.
Speaker 5 (40:10):
Maybe the reasd of Oz.
Speaker 6 (40:11):
Okay, all right, now I get it.
Speaker 21 (40:13):
Today there are just four known pairs worn in the film.
But these slippers have taken on a movie like plot
of their own, stolen from the Judy Garland Museum, where
they were on loan in two thousand and five. More
than a decade later, the shoes were recovered in an
FBI sting operation, and just earlier this year finally reunited
with their owner.
Speaker 6 (40:33):
Mic Wow, that is unbelievable. All right, we gotta get
out of here. Mook Kelly is up next.
