Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's KFI AM sixty and you're listening to the Conway
Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app. I was watching
the Grammys last night. Crazy Taxi theme song didn't win anything.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Shut Out.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Yeah, that Grammys was great last night. A lot of
big performances. Whoever is running that show over at CBS,
they deserve an Ata boy or an at a girl
or an ata whatever they are, And they did a
great job. A lot of big performances, big bands, old school,
old school.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
I enjoyed that. I loved it.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
A friend of mine text me about the fight with
Kendrick Lamar and who's he fighting again, Drake Rag And
he said.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Hey, he said, how long?
Speaker 1 (00:48):
A group of like eight of us, he said, how
long has the Drake Kendrick Lamar fight been going on?
And then another buddy texts back. He goes, hey, do
you have the Internet?
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Yeah, and just check that internet thing.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
If you put that in there, you could get a
lot of information at on that's been going on that.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Hey, you have access to the internet. At the Internet,
all right.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
The protests going on downtown Los Angeles, it's creating a
lot of traffic there. They're trying to keep the protesters
off the one on one Freeway and doing a pretty
good job. Yesterday they were on the freeway for quite
some time, but I don't think they've made it onto
the freeway this time.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
That pro immigration demonstration close to one thousand strong here
in downtown LA. They have been here all day long,
starting at City Hall. They've made their way through the
streets of downtown, over the Crypto and all the way back.
And they have been here predominantly over the one on
one Freeway on these overpasses Spring Street and Los Angeles Street,
basically surrounding this entire part of the one on one freeway.
(01:50):
They have not entered the freeway, but they have been
here most of the day and now, after isolated reports
of rocks and bottles being thrown at police, the LAPD
has now declared an unlawful assembly. They have given a
dispersal order for this group to disband. They have been
here again most of the day. They are standing their
ground for now. You can see skirmish line set up
(02:11):
on either side of the freeway here. LAPD with lots
of reinforcements in plays. They have been watching what has
been a mostly peaceful protest throughout the day, but again
things getting a little bit rowdy here in the last
several minutes. You can see right now the one to
one freeway remains open in both directions, but they are
in the process of trying to disband this protest. Reporting
(02:31):
live from ARE seven. I'm Chris Christie ABC stuff.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
We'll just doing all right, Chris Christy, thank you. Let's
go to the ground now. And about Chris.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Christy with the helicopter, what do they call that? Air seven?
I think Air seven. Yeah, way up over this protest,
and they have not made it onto the freeway. But
let's go to the ground here and find out what's
going on.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
Well, this morning and throughout the day, we've seen hundreds
of people rallying throughout downtown Los Angeles, among them those
who are elder people from all backgrounds and nationalities, and
we've also seen many children. And on that note, the
LA County Office of Education says it is aware of
student absences in connection with what is called a Day
Without Immigrants. They say they don't have any specific numbers,
(03:14):
but they recognize that young people across the country are
engaging in advocacy on issues that impact their lives. Exactly
two weeks after the inauguration of President Donald Trump, in
a fast flurry of new immigration policies, many are protestingmento,
(03:38):
What did.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
She say, stefos? You speak Spanish? Right? Your whole family's
from Argentina. Yeah? Are you ready? Yeah? Here we go.
How fluent are you? I think RICHI is a little better? Oh, Richie?
Is it Richie in there?
Speaker 6 (03:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Richie? I didn't know you were in there. Ha'd you speaking?
I don't know. I just popped up. All right, you ready? Ready?
All right? You know Spanish? Pretty good? Right?
Speaker 7 (04:01):
Claro ca see, Yes, let's go.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Comento.
Speaker 8 (04:07):
I give Jesus praise because now I have documents.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Comento.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Okay, all right, I give Jesus praise now that I
have documents. Yes, that's what I would have said. She
stealed my lines, steal my thunder down there?
Speaker 2 (04:22):
All right?
Speaker 9 (04:22):
Here, we gotta familia mucha.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
I have a lot of family that I know, and
then you cut it off, so.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
I don't know familia muchat Okay.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
A lot of family I know.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
De la Juimenez, who is originally from in Salvador, says
she thanks God she is now documented, but knows many
who are not on social media, people and local businesses
read the word to make today a day without immigrants.
Speaker 8 (04:49):
I genuinely hope today is just more of a wake
up call so society can really see what we bring
to the table.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Quite literally.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
Trump has attempted to end Earthright citizenship. He closed the
CBP one app the main avenue for refugees and migrants
seeking asylum, and is ending temporary protected status for more
than three hundred thousand Venezuelans who were authorized to work
in the US. One father and grandfather we spoke with
fears deportation, but wanted to send a message.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Jord sadly.
Speaker 8 (05:25):
Okay, what did he say there? Get your research? Repeat it,
Jordal sadly something. I'm crying, Jordal.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
The only thing I picked up is that that's international.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Jord sadly.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
Freely, I cry because I've been in this country for
more than thirty five years.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Okay, Well that lady got it, and Richie you didn't.
So hey, you know, one in one, you're fifty to fifty.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
Because I've been in this country for more than thirty
five years. He went on to say that his children
and grandchildren were born here.
Speaker 6 (06:08):
You cant come buff all right, here we go.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Ready. Yeah, your cachira vera tron. I wish I could
see Trump your.
Speaker 6 (06:18):
Cachira vera thron.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Okay, huh.
Speaker 6 (06:21):
And then Mertife.
Speaker 8 (06:26):
I don't know the last part, but something about like
him being out in the in the fields himself.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Oh, I feel buffet. Just what condos is compos compos.
Speaker 6 (06:37):
Yeah, Mertio and buffet just.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Anything. I don't know what con means, so that he
sees what we have to deal with. Oh, okay, you
guys are good. Dan down with you. Yeah, you guys
are unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (06:51):
I wish I could see Trump in the harvest fields
the way we arrived to get the food he eats
that he takes to his tables. He suggests Trump should,
for a day or two, ride the so called train
of death that so many migrants ride to make it
to this country. Is approving an immigrant who began his
application to seek political asylum through the CBP one app lokat.
Speaker 6 (07:14):
Per moera peply left pers.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Are you ready? Here we go? Ready? Reggie? Yeah, here
we go?
Speaker 6 (07:23):
Okay p mok cerainly pepreuly left person.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Uh can you play it again?
Speaker 1 (07:31):
I don't know much English, I thought I thought he said,
the blue pens and the fried chicken. Is that possible?
I have no idea. I need to come in, chime in,
come in from the bullpen on this one.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
We need a reliever.
Speaker 6 (07:47):
Okay, pa you mok cera Pepuly.
Speaker 8 (07:50):
Left something about. All I'm asking for is the respect
of individuals.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
And so is that right?
Speaker 6 (07:59):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (08:01):
People, He's calling for people's rights and US immigration law
to be respected.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Now when it.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
Comes to asylum access at the US southern border. Today,
immigrants rights advocacy groups sue the Trump administration, saying these
sweeping restrictions illegally put people who are fleeing war and
persecution in harms.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
A way, Yeah, I don't know closing it.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
You know, we can jump on any case and be sympathetic,
empathetic to the people. But once you start closing freeways,
it's it's over. It's it, and nobody gets on board.
The freeway is are too important to us and we
got to get around. And once you start closing freeways
and you make people two or three hours late for
getting home, they get really pissed. And then somebody set
(08:50):
an American flag on fire, as Vince Kelly would say, can.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
You believe that. Can you believe that they set an
American flag on fire?
Speaker 1 (09:01):
First of all, who's setting fires in LA After what
we've been through over the last three weeks, who's doing that?
And the burning of the flag and the stopping of
the freeways. I'd put those in your back pocket as
alternates maybe later on another time. I'd keep those off camera.
(09:22):
That's not going to get people on your side. You
could get people on your side, but stopping the freeways
is not the way to do it. Ask the people
who were in charge of the Gaza protests. Once they
got on the freeways, a lot of that sort of
you know, sympathy dried up. And also with the Armenians
(09:42):
in Glendale when they stopped the freeway, even other Armenians
were like, hey, buddy, look we're very sympathetic to you,
but we got to get going. We got to get
moving on these freeways. So my suggestion, the protests work,
they do get attention, but i'd limit the freeway closures.
That's not how you get people on your side. That's
just my two cents from growing up born and raised here.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
That's not the right move. It never works, never ever works.
Speaker 10 (10:09):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Forty Plexaitani Phil was a big story. We'll get to
that later. He didn't see his shadow. But that guy sucks.
What is he a hedgehog? Groundhog?
Speaker 2 (10:24):
What is it? Roundhog?
Speaker 4 (10:26):
Round?
Speaker 2 (10:27):
He's not very good.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
He's thirty five percent. Crozier nailed it. Yep, here you go, broke.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
If you pick thirty five percent of your games.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
Now, what's your percentage at the track.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
It's much lower than thirty five percent. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah,
But that's why I'm you know, I'm at Target. You
know that was doing well. I'd be at the Macy's styling.
I'd be like dude style.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Dude style.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
What buddy of mine used to say that in that
was his saying, in like third or fourth grade, he'd
be able to skate skating around and skateboard and go, look.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
I'm dude style.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
What does it mean?
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Nobody asked him. Nobody asked him. We just all said it,
dude style, Oh, dude style.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
By the way, this is a really burnt out friend
of mine, a guy who got into pot before everybody else.
And I'm in like junior high, and he he never
I never saw him read a book or or do
anything other than skateboard, right, and he was like had
long hair, and he's always saying dude style, and nobody
(11:35):
really knew what that meant.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
You got dude style, dude style.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
You have that like that sort of like crazy Valley accent,
dude style.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
It's dude style.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
So anybody want to ask me what he ended up
doing for for a living.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Anybody anybody?
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Oh, okay, thanks for asking. Very successful judge in californ
what very successful judge in California?
Speaker 3 (12:04):
Does he do it? Dude style?
Speaker 2 (12:06):
I don't know if he still says that when he's
when he's oversea cases, that'd be awesome.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
So you beat the hell out of this guy who
was asking you for money? Did you go dude style
on him?
Speaker 2 (12:20):
I sentenced you to six months in jail dude style.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
I was going to go dude style instead of ding dong,
and I thought, Nah, that guy's already got to try it.
Let's see, he's got his hook. I don't know how
you I don't know what it means, so I don't
know how to use it. You know, dude style, all right?
Like like for instance, I was reading a let me
open this up here. This is a Sweet James commercial. Okay,
here's here's how I used it. Maybe I used it improperly. Okay,
(12:49):
here's a Sweet James commercial.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Whatever.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Our listeners was injured after being rear ended at a
red light. The insurance covery offered him sixty grand. Man,
if you had sixty grand in your pocket, you beat styling.
Get me a bit like dude style.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
All right, let's go back to the protests. I heard
Angel Martinez talking about the protest downtown Los Angeles, angel
and what kind of traffic is it creating anything on
the freeways or just surface streets.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
Well, the freeways are slow.
Speaker 11 (13:21):
It's slow on that southbound side, especially of the one
oh one out of Hollywood from Santa Monica Boulevard all
the way to Los Angeles Street, because Los Angeles Street
is the overpass where most of the protesters have have
gathered right there between the main street and the Los
Angeles Street overpasses, right in that square.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Right, So the freeways right now are dude.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Stop there, dude style.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
Yeah, there's a guy lighting fireworks off all right, I
see that that's cool, but it doesn't look like on
surface streets you can get through there at all.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
Oh my gosh, it's awful.
Speaker 11 (13:54):
Well they of course Los Angeles Street is closed due
to all the protesters there as well as Main Street,
and so all the surrounding surface streets is from the
one O one to about City Hall or just slammed.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Wo wow. All right, well Keane dillm you know they're protesting.
All right, let's find out what's going on with these protests.
Here's an update. Happened about eight minutes ago.
Speaker 4 (14:16):
A large group of police officers trying to coax that
large group of pro immigration demonstrators off of that overpass
right there. They have been here most of the day.
You can see laped lined up with skirmish lines set
up to try and get that group off of that overpass.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
Again.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
They have been here much of the day, things getting
a little bit rowdy in the last several minutes now,
trying to move that group north off of the one
on one overpass again. Right now, the one on one
freeway is not impacted. However, you could see that exit
ramp there at Spring is closed. Reporting live mayre seven.
I'm Chris Christy ABC seven.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
I just knew, all right, there you go.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
The DNC, the Democratic National Committee was going to elect
somebody new. They wanted to throw out the old and
bring in somebody new to try to raise money for
the Democrats. And again, normally we don't go into the
weeds in such radical detail, but I thought this was
kind of crazy this audio. Listen to how they're selecting
(15:14):
somebody to run the Democratic National Committee, the leadership. This
is how they're going to elect the leader of the
Democratic National Committee.
Speaker 12 (15:23):
Rules specify that when we have a gender non binary
candidate or officer, right, the non binary individual is counted
as neither male nor female, and the remaining six offices
must be gender balance.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
Okay, with the results of the previous.
Speaker 12 (15:39):
Four elections, our elected officers are currently two male and
to female.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Okay, two male to female and one non committed. He's
not committed to either gender, so they need one more
female and one more male in.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
Order to be gender balanced. We must are we her
balance on the show. I don't think we are. We're not.
We're every male.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
Well, we've got Angel who identifies as a female, a
non transition female, and then we have BELLI oh, non
transition female, Krozier, we'll get back to Krozer. Uh, Steph
ouj non transient, non transition male, Conway possibly transitioning at
(16:29):
one point in his life male dude style, dude style.
And then Krozier, who's really not committed to anything. I
don't know, it's uncle Krozier. I'm definitely a wafflerw okay,
So we're and then I would consider Richie part of
the show.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
And Kiki is Kiki in there? All right?
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Kiki your non transition female. Yes, okay, and he's so
depressed about it. Yeah, she doesn't feel like she's hip
like that.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
No, I hear anything.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
Oh okay, then you're a deaf non transitioned female. That's
even more of a bummer for us. And then Richie
put a pot of coffee on. Here we go, rich Richie,
what are you? What's going on with you? Non trans
non transition male, Yes, okay, all right, so we've got god,
I gotta make the score card here. Okay, we've got
(17:24):
let's see, we have one. We have a Krozier's non
transition male. All right, we have one there, and Richie
is another one. Me and Steph wush. We've got four
non transition males. Then we've got Bellio, Kiki and Angel
non transition females. So we need one more female, and
then we need and then we're good. So we have
(17:45):
to we have to have another female on the show
at some point, I believe so that is equity.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Yeah, I think we should be there, right, So Bellio
look into.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
That way, what position? Hey, let's go to a ABC.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Sid ab He said, Oh, we got some moving on
the protests. All right, let's go on. All the cops
are now going into the streets. All right, here's Channel seven.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
Right now, Chris, that's right.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
Mark Lapd now moving into position to blockade block this
intersection off essentially where traffic is currently getting through here.
There are hundreds of protesters on that moment. They given
that dispersal order a number of times in English and
in Spanish. However, they are having a little bit of
a tough time getting through to these folks, and so
now they are about to surround this group with skirmish lines.
(18:31):
A number of armed officers now making their way into
the intersection here, and they're going to begin to move
this group into Chinatown north on Los Angeles Street on
the north side of the one oh one Freeway, which
does remain open at this hour. Freeway traffic is getting
by in both directions, but they are causing quite a
commotion there on that overpass, and they are in the
(18:52):
process of moving this group off of that overpass. Reporting
live from Air seven, I'm Chris Christy, ABC seven.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
We just do all right, Chris, any it does all right?
Let's give them up the freeway at.
Speaker 7 (19:02):
This point or are they basically staying up there where
they are at this point?
Speaker 4 (19:06):
There is nobody in position to block the freeway. CHP
does have those entrance and exit ramps guarded, but of
course that is a situation which we're going to continue
to keep an eye on, as you eye on, as
you know, Mark, at times yesterday there was an attempt
to block the freewayre they're trying not to let that
happen again.
Speaker 7 (19:23):
Do you know. We're staying with these live images right now, Chris,
and we're seeing people are still blocking the you know,
the overpass Los Angeles Street.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
They're not getting on the side, so at some point
now they're going to walk across, kind of pushing them.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
Now they're going to walk across the overpass and move
everybody off that.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Overpass from getting through these intersections.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
Out you're slowing down getting through here. They have been
mostly focused on this overpass as well as the Spring
Street overpass much of the day, but most of the
group has migrated over to Los Angeles Street. Again. Car
traffic has been open, but really getting by very slowly,
only because there are so many bodies blocking those lanes.
Even though originally they were on the sidewalks. They were
(20:03):
basically dropping their signs over the overpass, and they have
a number of flags from a number of Latin American
countries that they have been displaying all day long. Now
you can see with the threat of those officers moving
into that intersection there, they.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Are standing in Chinatown.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
More to the north on to Caesar Chabas well, where
they will be kept off of that overpass eventually.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
All right, Chris Christy, thank you.
Speaker 10 (20:27):
We did see some objects being thrown there at the officers.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
We're going to keep an eye on this and see
how this continues.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
Channel five, Channel eleven, they're on the ground here. Channel
We're going to take a break and come back. Channel
five is on the ground and and eleven as well,
and then we'll come back and talk more about this,
plus a chance to win a thousand bucks.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
Lock going on, Lock going on.
Speaker 10 (20:46):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on De Maya from
KFI AM six forty.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
And the one on one freeway.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Looks like the cops are trying to push everybody off
of the overpass back in towards chin In Town Live
on channel seven, Channel four, Channel eleven, Channel five.
Speaker 8 (21:06):
Must be a big store signs we're saying, you just
heard maybe a firecracker go off.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Actually know it was a phone baton.
Speaker 13 (21:14):
So apparently the LAPD is now deploying those phone batons,
so essentially set of rubber bullets they now use. It's
like a a pham projectile that they will they nerve
shooting to the crowd and at least behind a canister.
And what I've seen in the past another protest is
that sometimes they will pick up the canister and throw
(21:37):
it back at police. But that's that indicates that that
was just fired, and I think that's what we heard.
Speaker 14 (21:45):
So as we know, as you're watching this, there is
a constitutional.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Right to protest in this country.
Speaker 14 (21:50):
You're allowed to have your say, but there are limits
on that and oftentimes protests, especially in downtown Los Angeles,
will get permits. They will work with the LAPD on
a process sometimes.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
All right, that's Channel eleven going through the constitutionality of it.
Let's see what's going on with Channel five here doing
a really.
Speaker 15 (22:12):
Good job of getting people to leave, because these streets
up here, we're packed full of people, and across the
street even if you can show that roll across the
street that was completely packed just minutes ago, and so
it does appear that people.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
Are It seems like they're pushing everybody towards Philipps and
towards Alvara Street, Chinatown and the Union Station.
Speaker 15 (22:36):
It seems to be more aggressive, and the officers are
focusing on the area and near Arcadia, and you can
see them. This is how they this is how they operate.
They fix one area and then they run to the
next because it is a more imminent and dangerous threat
to them and obviously a serious situation. We've seen the
fireworks go off there, We've seen things thrown at the officers.
(22:57):
Let's talk over there, rollover, they thrown at officers, and
this seems to be the section where it's become the
most aggressive. But unfortunately now the road above US Arcadia
is not being protected, so people are coming down this way.
Now officers have people on both sides of them.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
This is a mess downtown Los Angeles. If you're if
you can avoid the area, I would. It's a lot
of traffic, a lot of traffic, lots of action in
downtown down.
Speaker 14 (23:23):
Down streets to allow people to have their right and
have their say.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
All right.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
Then now there's firecrackers going off as well, and they
seem to be somebody is lighting fireworks and the travelers firecrackers.
Speaker 9 (23:36):
Found Los Angeles to Caesar Chabbits. So it does look
like they are making progress to push the crowd back
as to where they will all disperse to, we'll see.
But now a leap the officers making a run for it.
Speaker 15 (23:55):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
Okay, Now the cops are running, which is never a
good site. Now they're all they're all setting up on
the freeway on both sides of the freeways, right near
the Hall of Justice. For people that know the downtown
La area angel what's going on with traffic around there?
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Downtown must be hell?
Speaker 11 (24:16):
Oh, it's absolutely a nightmare of a drive. All the
surrounding surface streets on that south side of the one
oh one around City Hall and the park there near
City Hall. It's just out of standstill. As you can
see on this live shot on Fox eleven. You know,
they've got that intersection blocked off. I can't see what
(24:38):
the name of that the streets are at that intersection,
but if they're standing in the intersections, cars are not
getting through clearly. So you've got cars that are just stopped,
they have nowhere to go, and it's just it's just
the ultimate nightmare to drive around in that area of
downtown right now.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Yeah, there's at least one police helicopter and then about
five or six news helicopters over this as well. So
if you can avoid downtown Los Angeles, we recommend it.
We'll come back with more information on what's going down
with the protests in downtown Los Angeles as night sets in. Uh, yeah,
we're we're getting close to pitch dark out there. You're
(25:16):
going to see a lot more traffic, a lot more
red lights and white lights, and a lot more traffic.
But it looks like this is they're trying to get
everyone to go home. It just doesn't look like they're
having a tremendous amount of success so far.
Speaker 10 (25:32):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
Am sixty.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Let's go back to downtown Los Angele.
Speaker 14 (25:42):
You see that LAPD helicopter overhead.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
The protests going on in downtown Los Angeles, right near
Hall of Justice.
Speaker 14 (25:50):
You see the officers standing by on the ground.
Speaker 9 (25:56):
And it seems like, well, that seems like they have
split up in two. So now we had the skirmish
line here. This is where those ultimately playing music and
being more jovial have gathered up ahead. It was the
more rowdy protesters, if you will, and those folks have
been pushed back by LAPD. This is heading northbound on
(26:18):
Los Angeles Street.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
No arrest though, I don't think. I think yesterday there
were no arrests either.
Speaker 9 (26:23):
About forty five minutes ago. This means anyone who does
not disperse is subject to arrest.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
No word spoke too soon as of yet.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Yeah, no arrest so far, nothing today and nothing yesterday.
Speaker 9 (26:38):
And this is to keep in mind, this is just
one area that we're showing, right, I mean, earlier the
one oh one was basically there was a square of
protesters around it. They could not get onto one oh
one because LAPD blocked off the on ramps to one
oh one to prevent protesters from taking over the one
on one as they did yesterday Sunday afternoon for some time.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Let me go to Kate ten sorry live TV.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
Sorry, somebody was yelling the F word and then Donald
Trump's name.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Sorry, sorry, sorry, and that took it.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
It was an all back to Chan eleven. Let's swearing
over there the affair to.
Speaker 9 (27:20):
Get that protest anti ice protest wrapped up on Sunday.
Speaker 13 (27:24):
You cannot guarantee you will not have expletives.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Okay, all right, well I can guarantee you're going to
have some.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
We just had a couple taking a risk. Okay. It's
Christian Maity Communications.
Speaker 13 (27:37):
So the lap.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
You're on back to you.
Speaker 13 (27:49):
And appears now that the lap is allowing this group
to continue to play their music. As you mentioned, they
have separated. They've broken up basically the protests into several
smaller groups. There's a one here, there's another one on
the other side of the skirmish line.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Yeah, they've cut it in half. So there's two groups
of protesters. Now there's one that's just sitting around. They
got their kids, they're singing, in they're dancing, and then
the other one more swearing and more fireworks.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
So two groups.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
All right, here's an update on what's going on in
downtown Los Angeles.
Speaker 7 (28:28):
On the overpass over the freeway at Aliso between Alameda.
This is what's happening behind us. Within the past thirty
minutes or so, we have seen LAPD officers in tactical
gear moving in. As you mentioned. Now, this group being
ordered to disperse and this demonstration is over according to
law enforcement. But the people that are still here with
(28:49):
their message, they are seemingly not really moving out of
the way. These LAPD officers have not only been kind
of telling protesters and demonstrators to move out of the
way and this, but they've also been pushing us back.
We were closer to the overpass at one point, and
the officers have kind of been making their way down
Spring Street closer to Temple, kind of pushing the crowd
(29:12):
and pushing even media back a little bit further. Right now,
things remain peaceful. We have seen a couple of people, though,
kind of right up in the faces of these officers,
kind of trying to interact with them in maybe a
way that might kind of be a little bit heightened
right now with some of the intensity that's happening with
this protest. But again, as far as we know and
(29:34):
from what we can see from our vantage point, things
still peaceful. But the messaging right now is that the
demonstration does need to wrap up in These protesters need
to kind of get out of the way now. This
has been having an impact all day that we've seen
on traffic here in the downtown Los Angeles area for
people trying to make their way around Temple. As I
mentioned Spring Street, we know there are several courthouses here,
(29:57):
the Hall of Justice. At one point we saw some
attorneys in people trying to make their way inside who
had to take alternate routes to avoid these protesters. Even
heard one woman kind of making a comment about how
annoying it is. That's the words that she used, is
that it was annoying that she had to do all
of this because there are entrances that are kind of
barricaded off in an unusual way that they normally would
(30:17):
be because obviously the protesters, they want to keep them
to a certain area, and they had been allowing these
protesters all day to stay along this intersection and along
this overpass where they came after they marched from City Hall,
then down to Crypto dot Com and then back up
this way, which is where they stopped here along Spring
Street again. This is a liso between Arcadia Street this
(30:38):
overpass where we've seen this demonstration kind of taking place
today throughout this afternoon. But right now, according to what
we're seeing and what we're hearing from you guys, it
seems like law enforcement wants to kind of make sure
this protest wraps up soon. And we had not seen
them actually interacting physically with demonstrators jet but we are
standing by to see what happens as this all continues
to unfold. For now, we're live in downtown.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
Lie allright, who was that bell? She did a great job.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
I mean she literally talked for three straight minutes without
even taking a breath.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
We'll have her name for you and wee day.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Yeah, she's great.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
She deserves an out, girl, right, talking that long is
a gift. It's a gift, man.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
All right.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
We are keep an eye on downtown LA also telling
you a storm is coming our way according to my phone,
and again seems to be pretty accurate. Tuesday forty percent
chance of rain in the San Fernando Valley surround the communities.
Wednesday seventy percent chance of rain, Thursday fifty five percent,
Friday sixty percent, and then nothing after that. And the
(31:39):
lows are going to be in the forties and the
high is going to be in the upper fifties. We
may not even reach sixty degrees on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
or Fridays, but especially in the San Fernando Valley it
might be in the high fifties and raining for four days,
four days.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
You haven't done it by now.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
Maybe you can get out tomorrow morning and clean those
gutters out.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
Crazier You a gutter cleaner? You seem like you are.
Do not have gutters on the house.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
I'm a gutter and cleaner?
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Are you? Did you clean them out this weekend?
Speaker 7 (32:12):
No?
Speaker 2 (32:12):
I didn't get I was up on the roof cleaning
gutters all weekend. I almost fell off the roof too.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
You gotta be so careful so you get on the roof.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
You don't do you do that? I get that. I
get my ass on the roof.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
I go old school, old school baby, like oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
you're right.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
You know you have the covers.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
No, those don't work. Oh yeah, leaves pile on top
of them. Then you gotta go up and get the
leaves off of them. So tomorrow night rain in the
valley and then I Wednesday, Thursday late in the afternoon
and then into Friday, so two storms coming in. Be
aware of it, especially in the burn Scar areas. Conway Show,
