Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's camp I am six forty and you're listening to
the Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app. The
Los Angeles Dodgers went to the White House today and
David Vasse, who travels with the Dodgers, he does pregame
postgame interview with all the Dodgers. He was at the
White House today, David Vasse, welcome to the program.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Hey, thank you, Tim. Now I'm at Nationals Park where
shohy O Tommy is just a double away for hitting
for the cycle only the second time in his career.
So he hits to go to the White House. He
got a picture in the Oval office, and now he's
about to hit for the cycle in our nation's capital.
So yes, the big thing.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
So the hardest of the forehead single, double, triple home
run is the.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Triple Yeah, because he hit it to straightaway center field
here at Nationals Park in Washington, DC, where it's the
high wall right there. If it was just a couple
of inches lower, it would have been his second home
run of the game. But hey, cycle watch right now, Conway.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
There you go. I have sho hey Otani in my
prize picks today, so I'm loving that.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Hey, Okay, great, good for you to take us.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Through the day. We all saw the interview, we all
saw Donald Trump talk to the players and stuff. But
I always liked the logistics of what's going on. What
time did you all get on a bond that were
you escorted by police to the White House? What kind
of background search did they do on you? I went
to scoop Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Well number one Conway. I was not part of the
Dodger group that got to go behind the velvet rope
and got to go into the Oval office. I had
to apply for a credential to be able to be
at the White House and that was a process. It
took about a week, and then they sent out another
email last night and needed us to reapply specifically for
(01:58):
that event. And I never got conform until about nine
thirty Eastern time that I was approved. And the other
beat writers that followed the team had the same experience.
So once I got to the White House this morning
at nine am, there's a security guard and you'll love this.
Obviously a lot of security around the White House, but
(02:20):
the way they unlock the security gate that surrounds the
White House is with a padlock. There's a guard that
comes out of the pooth. I mean, you can't make
this stuff up.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Yeah, Is that the Secret Service guy that that whispered
ding dong to you?
Speaker 2 (02:38):
It was not secret Service. It was just a security
guy that was well armed and well protected. And once
once I finally got inside, and by the way, it
was a rainy morning here in Washington, d C. You
walked to the briefing room and a lot of people
would be shocked how small the briefing room actually is.
(02:58):
It's not big at all and holds maybe you could
squeeze one hundred and twenty people in there. And you know,
the regular reporters that are there on the beat every
day told me during the summer it's there's not a
lot of air flowing through there. So it's you can
understand why it's high intensity and sometimes gets cheated in
(03:19):
more ways than one.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
You know what, I'll bet you Donald Trump, who's also
you know, in the business of building and repairing, I
think they're going to expand that. I think he's going
to say enough with this, and they're going to put
in a huge press room there. So when you get
to the White House, it's raining, you walk in the
White House, have you ever. Have you been to the
White House before? Is this your first time?
Speaker 2 (03:41):
I have never been on the inside of the White House.
I've only seen it from the streets.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
So speaking of a guy who you know, grew up
in southern California, was a Dodger fan, you walk in
the White House for the first time, I heard, it's breathtaking.
You can't believe you're there.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
It really is. I mean, even the briefing room in
the ground, walking into the White House, it's you feel
the power of that building and the people and the history.
That's what you feel, sure.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
I bet, And so you go in. Is there a
lot of waiting around? Or is there?
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Had the band playing when I walked in the White
House band was playing we Are the Champions when we
walked in. And then you're ushered directly into the East
Room and there was close to two hundred people in
there before the Dodgers and President Trump came in, you know, Senators, congressmen,
people that work just wanted a glimpse of the twenty
(04:37):
twenty four World champion Dodgers. So it was more full
than most events in that East room. From what I
was told from people that cover events at the White House.
So and once they started coming into the room, they
started playing I Love La. The band started playing I
Love La, and you know I was in the way
(05:01):
back but had a good view of the President and
the team at the podium.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Okay, all right? And then you said, which is odd,
maybe you didn't want me to bring it up on
TV on radio, but you had a special recipe for
rugela that you wanted to share with BB NUT and Yahoo.
Did you get that opportunity?
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Well that was the other thing, right, good thing it
ended when it did. And I left the White House
when I did because some media members hung around and
they were locked down for forty five minutes as Net
and Yahoo was coming into the White House. So I
escaped there and I talked to a couple of players
that were in the Oval Office Number one that was
completely off script from what they told me. The workers
(05:45):
at the White House, the support staff, were completely taken
off guard that Trump spontaneously invited the Dodgers into the
Oval Office. They lined up one by one. He took
a photo and gave them a presidential coin. Players, coaches,
owners got a one got a personal photo with Trump
at the Resolute Desk, and after a few of them
(06:08):
came out. When I talked to him at the ballpark.
They told me there was it was the best smelling
room they've ever been in the Oval office. They have
no idea how they got that going, not sure what
air freshener they're using, but the best smelling room they've
ever been in.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
They said, did you get your MAGA hat signed?
Speaker 2 (06:31):
People in the press box are laughing at me for
saying that. Conway, I'm just reporting what players told me.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
That's great, dude. Hey, so when you're there, you meet
with the president. Did you have enough time to eat
lunch with everybody or do you have to get back
to the ballpark?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Like I said, I was not part of where they
had lunch, and lunch was not served for the team
from what I understand. And yeah, so I was not
part of the group. Broadcast were not included, And yeah,
it's disappointing, but I mean, you can't bring everybody.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Did they give you a Do you have a World
Championship ring?
Speaker 2 (07:10):
Not yet, but it's on the way, Conway, it's on
the way.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Good, you deserve one. And what time did you leave
the White House?
Speaker 2 (07:18):
I left around noon and try to get into one
of my favorite places right around the corner from the
White House, Old Ebic Grill, a historical place where a
lot of dignitaries and presidents have gone in to have
dinner and lunch. But it was completely full. So then
I made my way to National's Park, got a cold brew,
coffee and a lunch close by to the ballpark. Here
(07:40):
I am.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
But you are the best, you know, Tony?
Speaker 2 (07:43):
You hit for the cycle?
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Possibly, yeah, as is a double? All right? So did
when you left the White House? Is it two buses
that take the team back to the ballpark or you
go back to the hotel first?
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Yeah? So the players left team hotel around eight am
and arrived at the White House around ten am. They
they uh that No, well, a little bit farther than
you think, and there's sometimes traffic. They're staying in Pentagon City,
so they're not staying.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Oh do they get a police escort to the buses?
Get a police escort?
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Yeah, yeah, we get We got a police escort to
the train station to Penn station. Yesterday in Philadelphia, we
took the train from Philly to Washington, d C. Yeah. Yeah.
It was a great, great experience, a lot smoother than
getting on a plane.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Yeah, I bet all right. So you leave the White
House police escort to the stadium.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Uh no, no urgency to get to the stadium that quickly.
But the buses came directly to the stadium. And here's
an interesting thing. You saw Kershaw up there speaking right
what I did. Yes, Well, he was the backup plan
because the original plan was to have World Series MVP
Freddie Freeman speak on behalf of the team. And Freddie
(09:08):
is back in Los Angeles because he's on the injured
list because he reaggravated that right ankle falling in the
shower last Sunday.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Oh, he must have been beside himself that, you know,
he's the MVP, he's you know, he's kicking ass in
the World Series, and yet he didn't get to go.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Yeah, he's got to be really disappointed. He's number one
disappointed because he's a guy that prides himself on playing
every day. But obviously it's unfortunate that he wasn't able
to be at the White House because he played such
a big role. The Dodgers don't win the World Series
without Freddie Freeman. So yeah, but that was the plan.
Kershaw did not pitch in any postseason game. But obviously
(09:50):
he represents the organization in a really good way. Right.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
I text after the Dodgers came back from six to
two deficit to go ahead seven the six and then
they lost to Philadelphia last night. I I text Tim
Kats I said, Dodgers dot dot dot, we'll get him
next year. And he wrote back, and he wrote back, Yeah,
it was a fun run while it lasted.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Well, if the Dodgers keep playing defense the way they're
playing it in the last few games, that will be
the last visit to the White House.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
That's classic, dude. All right, So what's on the Dodgers' schedule?
Washington and we're back home.
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Back home to play the Chicago Cubs, who they just
played in Tokyo, Japan.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Oh good, Okay, excellent, buddy. I'm really glad you had
the opportunity to see the White House, especially with the
La Dodgers. That's got to be a dream come true.
I'm glad you got to do it, dude.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Thanks a lot. Conway appreciate it. And like the Dodgers said,
it wasn't political. It's just a really special experience.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
I get it. I get it. Plus you got to uh,
you know, give your passover Macaroon's recipe to BB and Yahoo.
That's cool. That's right.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
It feels like you mike me up. You had somebody
following me.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Thanks for coming on, buddy, safe travels, Thanks for having
me take talk with you. Buddy. There he goes Dave
Assay with the Dodgers. Man, what a life that guy's
got going on travels with the Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 1 (11:24):
It is The Conway Show. We just talked to David Vase.
That was cool, and now will Cole Shriver's with us.
He does traffic whenever Angel's not around. And he also
flies around big, huge stadiums whenever there's a big game,
super Bowl, World Series, NHL playoffs. I don't know Kentucky Derby,
(11:45):
and I believe he is currently flying around or just
flew around San Antonio where Florida is playing Houston in
the NCAA Men's basketball final. Will welcome to the program.
How are you, bubo? Are you in the air right now?
Speaker 2 (12:01):
We're over the right now, we're over the automodel that.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Right now.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Oh that's great. That's great technology is beautiful.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
To move on to this point. Someone expected you to
get this far and everybody's so called these sects of
our party is up. But have fun.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Okay, let me put you on hold let's side twenty
twenty five. Yeah, let's pass man. I love will Cole Driver,
but I can't take that.
Speaker 5 (12:32):
Sounds like it's underwater.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
I can't take that.
Speaker 7 (12:35):
In defense, we were going to have him on at
the top for you.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Know, when he was on.
Speaker 7 (12:40):
When he was on, we had to push.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Him back there. Well, how about this? How about if
he records something and then texts or emails it to
us and then we could play that? Is that too
much as could we? We could just pass it? Was
a good idea of bellone pass man. Okay, yeah, let's
pass man. How about the five oh five?
Speaker 7 (13:06):
Yeah, we can do it at five thirty five.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
Okay. I like well Cole Shreiver. I know Angel doesn't,
but I like the gun.
Speaker 7 (13:16):
I'm glad that you dumped that. Call.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Ah, that's right. A lot of competition in traffic, Angel Martinez,
our own Golden Mike winner. Do you win one this year?
Speaker 8 (13:27):
I did?
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Wow?
Speaker 7 (13:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (13:30):
What'd you win for.
Speaker 7 (13:32):
Best Traffic Division?
Speaker 1 (13:34):
A really.
Speaker 7 (13:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Let me see if I can remember. Was it four
or five north jammed near the airport, takes side streets.
Speaker 7 (13:45):
Okay, let me another guest.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Okay, seven ten south near the one ten crowded, take
side streets.
Speaker 7 (13:54):
Oh, that was a really good one, but it wasn't
for that.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
So fifty five north bound near the Orange crush jam
take side streets.
Speaker 7 (14:02):
Yes, that one, Oh me too.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Yeah, that one was great. That was great? And so
that How many Golden Mics have you won?
Speaker 7 (14:12):
Three?
Speaker 1 (14:13):
Wow? That's terrific. Let's add them all up. So Angel
Martinez has three? Krozier. How many you got? I've got
three three, Bellio.
Speaker 7 (14:26):
Two two two, Richie two.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
Two, Stepho four? No, how many do you have? Stephos
zero zero? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (14:39):
And wow, I love how you didn't believe Jaron at
all when she said four.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
No, he knew. Yeah, I knew, And I know that
that Bellio lies. All right. I'm that's her reputation around here, actually,
is it?
Speaker 7 (14:56):
Excuse me? No, it's not. It's not. It's not.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
She's like, don't go there, excuse me, Bellio? Is that
a rough week? I am not.
Speaker 7 (15:10):
First of all, the first hour, it's about how I
need to learn how to be more selfless. And then
this hour it's about I lie. Well, I had a
bad weekend.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
You know what happened to be in Target over the
weekend and this kid didn't. He said, I was in
Target with my wife. I'm sorry, my daughter and my sister.
We got to the one in west Lake because we
like to go to the Target where Richies go every
once a wround just to see a Richie's shop. It's
off a Lindero canyon. It's beautiful out there.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Man.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
And a kid who is probably sixteen or seventeen, he said,
excuse me, sir, And I turned around and said yeah,
And I was wearing a Hawaiian shirt and jeans look
pretty hot. And he said, no offense, but do you
work at Trader Joe's because we're in a Hawaiian shirt.
Speaker 7 (16:01):
That's what Richie just said, Is that right? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (16:04):
And I said no, I said I don't. I work
at Islands. He goes, oh, which Islands. I'm just I'm
just kidding, Bob. I don't even any left anymore. But
I don't think that's an insult. I think that's a compliment.
You know that you have a you know, a real job,
helping real people every day. I think if you said
to somebody you're an actor, that's an insult. You know,
(16:25):
you insulting, that's insulting.
Speaker 7 (16:28):
No, what you're saying is insulting to actors.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
No, I'm saying if somebody says you are you an actor,
that's insulting because what they're saying is I don't know you,
and your career isn't big enough for me to know you.
So I have to ask if you're an actor.
Speaker 9 (16:43):
But you would only ask somebody if you assumed that
perhaps you saw them in something.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Maybe maybe you're right. I don't know, I am maybe,
But Matt Bello's had a rough week.
Speaker 7 (16:54):
No, I haven't. It only got rough when this show started.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
Yeah, I don't know what ago.
Speaker 8 (17:00):
I know.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
I heard her on the phone. She had some kind
of conversation going. I couldn't I couldn't pick out all
the details. When you were eavesdropping, that's exactly right. Well,
we share an office, so I don't know how you
know it's eavesdropping when you're the loudest woman in the
oh now just loud as hell. But it was something
(17:22):
about transitioning. I don't think Belly was transitioning. But there
was something about transitioning that you're talking.
Speaker 7 (17:27):
About transition transistor radio.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
Oh, I got that wrong. Oh, I got to call
my wife.
Speaker 7 (17:33):
Then, yeah, I cleaned that up, clean that.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
I got to clean that up because I told Jen
I thought, I said, I think Bellio's transitioning, and she goes, really,
she goes, let me, let me ask people on the
internet if that's true.
Speaker 7 (17:45):
Slow News day, Connolly, I.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Guess, but it was. It was a great weekend with
all of the people who showed up at sant Nito.
So thank you, thank you, thank you to everybody at
who showed up and was a big part of that, big,
big part of that. And then I got we have time,
Oh we got tay break, all right, when we come back.
We have more show for you when we come back,
(18:07):
which would be great. And then at six oh five,
Bob Miller is coming on with us, the former announcer
with the La Kings. But when we come back, we
have a new segment called the five oh five. Is
that right, Bellio, it's your idea. Yes, yes, it's a
great idea too. Get a lot of great feedback from
it at sant Anita. All right, we'll come back. It's
the five oh five Whip, Yeah NewsWhip, the five oh
(18:30):
five News Whip, and it's got a great intro to
Clay put together.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on DEMYO from KF
I am six forty stop way.
Speaker 10 (18:44):
Go back through it f.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
This is the five oh five Newswip. What an opening
every single day if you're a frequent listener of the
show for last fifteen years. Last Friday was our fifteenth
anniversary doing this at five oh five. But we're a
little late because we had breaking news. And it's the
news stories that maybe we didn't get to. Maybe we
(19:13):
should have spent more time on it. Maybe we quarterally
missed it. I don't know. But it's the news stories
that everybody on my crew thank you very much, things
that are really important. And so let's start with our
own Sharon Bellio, who's at a rough week.
Speaker 7 (19:31):
Let's I haven't had a rough week. It's only Monday.
Speaker 9 (19:34):
Anyway, Conway leaving so cal Wait what what four?
Speaker 7 (19:41):
Thank you?
Speaker 9 (19:41):
A four year old Shepherd mix named Conway. It's one
of thousands of stray dogs and cats that have been
flown out of Southern California over the past several months.
The Riverside County Department of Services says it's using transfer
flights to address the overpopulation of shelters. In twenty four
over sixty two hundred dogs and cats were transferred from
(20:02):
Riofcoach shelters to partners across the US and Canada. And
Conway is one of twenty seven dogs who recently boarded
a cross country flight to Michigan after the Coachella Valley
Animal Campus was taken in by Coachella Valley Animal Campus
and the funding for this flight was provided by Bissel
Pet Foundation.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
So Conway is the dog taken off.
Speaker 7 (20:24):
Yeah, he's a four year old Shepherd mix.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
What a great name for it.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
I like that.
Speaker 7 (20:29):
And he's going to Michigan.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
I hope he has a good time Michigan.
Speaker 10 (20:33):
Do we know?
Speaker 7 (20:34):
I don't have that?
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Ll cool ji. Hell all right, let's talk to Krozer.
What's going on with you? Body of what?
Speaker 5 (20:44):
Speaking of dogs or dog like things, a US based
biotechnology company named Colossus Biosciences has brought back an extinct
animal that last walked the earth roughly ten thousand years ago.
Colossal bios Sciences they're the ones that are behind. A
couple years ago we heard about they were trying to
recreate and bring back to life the Wooly Mammoth, and
(21:06):
they're still on track, they say to do that within
three years.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
They're going to bring it back.
Speaker 5 (21:09):
But in the meantime they say they've actually brought back
a dire wolf, or at least one multiple of them.
They cloned four red wolves, a critically endangered animal, but
they created these dire wolves though that yapp and that
you heard were actually from those dire wolves ten thousand
years ago. These things walked the earth, but now they're
back on Earth.
Speaker 10 (21:29):
Man.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
That's a great idea for a movie, you know, where
you bring back extinct animals animals, Yeah, yeah, and put
them like in a big forest you can drive through
and look at them. That's a great different movie.
Speaker 5 (21:39):
This is a private company, by the way, and its
investors include Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, Paris Hilton, and Peter Jackson.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
So you said they're three to five years away from
bringing back the Wooly Mammoth.
Speaker 5 (21:51):
They say they are on a three year time track
still to they say they're on track full steam ahead,
with a goal of reviving the wooly mammoth within three years,
but they brought back these die wolves.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
If you ever watched.
Speaker 5 (22:03):
Game of Thrones, the giant wolves.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Yeah, those are dire wolves. Wow, that's cool, dude. Yeah,
oh that's excellent. Step Buje.
Speaker 11 (22:10):
What is your big news story today, Bump? Well, apparently
all of Garden has officially been dethroned as America's top
casual dining chain. Oh no, yeah. Sales for the steakhouse
chain surged fourteen point seven last year, and it had
a five point five billion, but Olive Garden only got
point eight percent a total of five point two billion.
(22:31):
Analysts attribute some of a Texas Roadhouse success to its
efforts to keep the price is low. It bumped up
prices to combat inflation, but only by a meager point
nine percent.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
Wow. Okay, so Texas Roadhouse is the number one dining place, sir,
that's kind of closer one near you. I don't think
there's one near me. There's one off the two ten
way out near where Krozier lives.
Speaker 11 (22:53):
Yeah, I can't think of anyones that are like around
close or like a local spot.
Speaker 5 (22:58):
You're talking aout there on the fifteen, yes, yes, just
north of the.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
Ten huge, huge roadhouse. You run a Texas roadhouse group
of stuff. Oh yeah, really good good barbecue food.
Speaker 11 (23:09):
They're barbecue food and they have their famous it's like
a specific type of cheesy garlic bread.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
But it's so good I gotta get it out there,
all right, die.
Speaker 5 (23:19):
They're based in Kentucky by the way.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Oh they are Texas road Oh that's classic. And didn't
KFC move to Texas? Wouldn't be surprised if they did? So,
Texas Roadhouse, the Kentucky and Kentucky Fried Chicken went to Texas?
What did they pass each other on the way and
the planes? All right, let's go to Angel Martinez. You
got a news story for us?
Speaker 10 (23:40):
Huh?
Speaker 5 (23:41):
I do?
Speaker 6 (23:41):
I do?
Speaker 7 (23:42):
I was reading.
Speaker 8 (23:42):
I was reading this crazy survey that was conducted in
Great Britain, and they surveyed over two thousand adults and
it was found that one in every fifty men believe
that they can outrun a champion racehorse sprint.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Okay, why are you laughing? I bet they could. I
bet some of them could.
Speaker 8 (24:04):
I mean how fast do they really run? They run
like what forty miles an hour?
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Yeah, but it takes them a little while to get
up and rolling.
Speaker 7 (24:10):
Oh, that's true. Once they get going.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Yeah, right, once they get going the Yeah, that's cool.
One out of fifty guys thinks they can beat a racehorse.
Speaker 8 (24:19):
Yes, and eleven percent of those people also said that
they could outsprint a house cat.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
I wonder who they were sitting around thinking about that
at night. Hey, Larry, you're thinking out sprint the house cat? Yep,
I sure can fly it up. Yeah, take care of those.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (24:43):
But these same guys probably just overestimate their physical abilities
because they also find that there's another eleven percent out
of this group that I think that they can run
just over four miles in less than ten minutes.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
Oh, that's impossible.
Speaker 7 (25:02):
Totally.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
I'd like to see those guys. That's great, all right,
Angel Martinez, thank you, Richie. What's going on in the
news and we're unaware.
Speaker 12 (25:10):
Of okay, So, nationwide hardware store Low's announced today that
it will close all stores for twenty four hours.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
So Low's is going to close all of.
Speaker 12 (25:20):
Their stores and their contact centers on Easter Sunday, April twentieth.
You may ask why, right, Well, the store said it's
an effort to show appreciation for their workers. And I
quote continued dedication to serving customers. Well I'm not right.
Low's has closed on Easter for the last four years.
(25:40):
According to the company, it joins like the ranks of
major chains like Target, Costco, Sam's Club, and you know
all the rest. But in case of you do need
to buy some items on you know, Easter Sunday, well
Low's dot com will still service customers, or you could
just go.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
To home depot as though still be open. That's great read.
I was reading an article today earlier today and and
and belly o Angel Crosier. You might be able enough
to remember this, but you remember when stores were closed.
They closed around you know, they were open nine to five,
and then on Thursdays they were they stayed open until nine.
(26:15):
Remember Thursdays was a late night that stores would stay
open to and now everything's closing at nine. But on
Saturdays stores would go, you know, open from you know,
at nine am till noon. And then Sundays everything was closed.
Everything was closed. You were lucky if a seven eleven
was open on a Sunday, all the department everything was
closed on a Sunday here in southern California, the old days.
(26:38):
I don't know if it's good old days or not,
but certainly was the old days? All right? That is
the five oh five NewsWhip, Big Dolly, go back through it.
This is the five oh five news whip.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
You're listening to Tim kun Way Junior on demand from
KFI AM six forty.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
I like that, Bellio. That was Bellio's idea, the five
oh five, the five oh five news whip around. I
like that Bellion. I think you're onto something.
Speaker 7 (27:13):
Thanks.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
A friend of mine who works in casting sent me
some audio and said, maybe you shouldn't play it on
the air, But when does that stop me?
Speaker 7 (27:26):
Never?
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Yeah, but they they were auditioning. I guess the guy
who does all of the Masters either couldn't do it,
or you're sick or something happened. So they are. They
were auditioning new people for the Masters, you know, the
golf tournament. And he said one that would send to
him was our very own Rick D's. Rick DZ is auditioning.
(27:51):
You think you get Do you think he get pissed
if I played on the air he sent me the audience.
Let's find out, all right, if he does, let me
let me say this, If if I will say that
Rick D's is trending right now. He's on the top
of the iHeart app with his Rick D's Weekly top forty.
Speaker 7 (28:13):
That is true.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
Yeah, so you can listen to it, so maybe that'll
help that I gave him a plug.
Speaker 7 (28:19):
Did he get the job? Do we know?
Speaker 10 (28:21):
I don't think he did?
Speaker 1 (28:23):
Okay, then okay, all right, And if he gets pissed,
I'm sorry. You know, I got three hours to fill,
like I need more, you know, more filler. Not that
he's filler. But this is Rick D's.
Speaker 6 (28:38):
But Masters on CBS coming up, it's the Masters this
week from Augusta. The Masters.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
That's great. I would hire him.
Speaker 7 (28:54):
He sounds great.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
I think he sounds terrific. But Masters, but he does
he does sound like the guy who does it. Maybe
that's the problem. He sounds too much like the guy
that doesn't. Who's the guy does that? Crow?
Speaker 5 (29:05):
You know it's not jim Nance, is it?
Speaker 3 (29:08):
I think it is.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
I think you're right, Yeah, I think it is jim Nantz.
Speaker 6 (29:10):
Yeah, the Masters.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
He does sound look like jim nantz.
Speaker 6 (29:13):
We Masters on CBS coming up, it's the Masters this
week from Augusta. The Masters.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
And my buddy did that for me.
Speaker 5 (29:31):
Here's my audition tape. I hope you guys like it,
give me a call.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
And then I edited some an ending here that Rick
Deys may not like. I put something at the end here.
Speaker 6 (29:41):
Here you on CBS coming up. It's the Masters this
week from Augusta. The Masters. Okay, what do you think
you are?
Speaker 12 (29:54):
So?
Speaker 5 (29:58):
I think him out?
Speaker 10 (29:59):
Thank you you are tak him out, seek him out.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
That's great, man, that is fantastic. I know we got
no we know take break, not at all, not at all.
All right, let's talk about the Ovechkin here because we're
gonna have Bob Miller on the top of the hour.
This uh Ovechkin plays for Washington and Alex Ovechkin is
(30:32):
now the world's greatest scorer in the National Hockey League.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
Him, I'm not thinking to take a shot. I'll talk
to me right away.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
This is him miked up right before he made that shot.
He said to one of his uh, you know, linemates.
He said, I'm gonna line up on the right hand circle,
pass it to me and I'll pick a risk shot.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
There.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
It is the world's greatest score.
Speaker 6 (31:00):
I get the nine, you get the nine hundred.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
I might buy you hardy. When Wayne Gretzky eclipsed the
record and became the world's great score. They gave him
a Rolls Royce. How about that.
Speaker 13 (31:21):
We have all just witnessed history in front of greatness.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
Wayne, You'll always.
Speaker 13 (31:29):
Be the great one, and you had a record that
nobody ever thought could be broken, but Alex, you did it.
You have been amazing. You have been the consummate player,
representing the NHL extraordinarily on and off the ice. Thank
you for all you have given the game and greatness
(31:51):
thoughts with players like you and Wayne a team in
an organization like the Capitals. Ted Leons's congratulations.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
You can a put.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
He did it in Long Island, so it was an
away game and I think the capitalis launch that game
four to one, so everybody in the audience was thrilled.
They got to be there and watch the record being
shatter broken and then the Islanders end up winning the
game for one, so they got to celebrate that as well.
Speaker 13 (32:21):
To celebrate and commrate this moment, there is a Canadian
artist who does sports named Tony Harris. You collect his paintings.
We had this painting especially commissioned for you to celebrate
and commemorate this amazing, amazing accomplishment. Congratulations. Greatness is now
(32:46):
part of your name and that the original great one.
Thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
First of all, I wanted to say, this is Wayne Gretzky.
Speaker 4 (32:55):
It's nice not to be at the Nassau Coliseum because
I lost a lot of games there.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
He was talking about the Islanders have a brand new
facility and the old one. Wayne Gretzky lost a lot
of games there.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
Secondly, history of this organization from mister Tory, mister Harbor.
Got to sit with Brian Trutchy and Britch Goring today,
just such wonderful people.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
Wow, Butch Goring still in the game.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
I wish the Islanders and the New York fans.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
All the best.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
But we're here today to celebrate this guy here.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
At number eight.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
They stopped the game in the middle of the game
or in the beginning the game, whenever he scored, they
stopped the game for twenty minutes to dedicate, you know,
to recognize that he broke the record twenty minutes.
Speaker 4 (33:49):
I can tell you first hand, I know how hard
it is to get to eight ninety four, eight ninety five.
It is pretty special. My congratulations to only Alex his
mom and dad, his family, his wife and kids. When
I broke the record, my two kids were about the
age of his boys, So it's kind of reminiscent for me.
And I'm so happy that two of my boys are
(34:11):
here tonight. But there's nothing better than the National Hockey League.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
That's right. Thing gong with this guy. Thing gone.
Speaker 4 (34:19):
They say records are made to be broken, but I'm
not sure who's going to get more goals than that.
It's the greatest game in the world. I want to
congratulate every organization, the commissioner in the league.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
There you go. All right, it's got a text from
Rick DZ who sent you that? I said, who sent me?
Speaker 12 (34:48):
What?
Speaker 1 (34:49):
He goes?
Speaker 10 (34:50):
You know?
Speaker 6 (34:51):
But Masters on CBS coming up. It's the Masters this
week from Augusta. The Masters. Okay, what do you think
you are?
Speaker 3 (35:09):
I think him out?
Speaker 1 (35:10):
Thank you. That's a classic.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
All right.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
When we come back, the world's greatest hockey announcer, maybe
the world's great sports announcer in I know, in my life,
maybe in the history of the world. Bob Miller is
gonna be on with us over the phone. Bob Miller.
That is great. We'll talk a little more about the
record that a Vetchkin set and the Los Angeles Kings
were having an unbelievable year. We're live on KFI AM
