Speaker 1 (00:06):
By Billy cunning him the Great American. Of course, there's
some terrorist attacks in New York City, not called as
such by many in the mainstream media about NYPD now
confirms real ied thrown at a protest crowd and also
is what's going on in New York City and it's
probably not good. And Michael McDonald is with the Catholic
(00:26):
League he spends his time in New York City and
give us a live update. And Michael McDonald, first of all,
welcome again into Bill Cunningham Show and tell us what
happened a couple of days ago in New York City
when a homemade bomb was thrown at protesters and the
mayors diminishing it. Give us a full report.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Yeah, Bill, great to be with you. Yeah, it's really crazy. Actually,
as a matter of fact, one of our staffers lives
right on the block where that happened to, you know,
just block up the road from there. So small worlds,
but yeah, so a lot of craziness was going on.
It's been no secret that since Man Donnie has become mayor,
(01:06):
that should we say, particularly Catholics in general, we've been
sifted three times by Man Donnie so far. He didn't
invite then Cardinal Cardinal Dolan, then the Archbishop of New
York to his inauguration. He didn't go to the installation
mass for the new archbishop here in New York. And
(01:29):
he had an interfaith breakfast that he didn't invite Catholic
clergy to participate in. So there there is definitely some
hurt feelings here in New York. So over the weekend
there was a group of protesters it sort of upset
that Judeo Christian values are kind of getting marginalized. Man
Donnie's been playing really to his bass. They were having
(01:52):
a protest about it, and there was a counter protest
from antifa types that we're going to drive the fascist
out of New York. Uh, and some of these antifa
radical fashions, anti fascist types through homemade bombs at these
Uh the people protesting the lack of respect for the
(02:14):
Judeo Christian values and uh, you know, they're trying to
spend this as much as possible to say it was
the people arguing that we should respect our heritage here
in this country are the bad guys. Uh, Ma'm Donnie's
down playing at the borough President for Manhattan came out
(02:35):
over the weekend, and he was convinced it was the
Christian nationalists that were making the Uh. The I E.
D s. These were real, These were real bombs. Uh.
The NYPD bombs squad, you know, NYPD, they're some of
the best in the country when it comes to dealing
with these serious type incidents. Handled themselves great. They're extremely professional. Uh.
Made sure no one got hurt, which is the big deal.
(02:56):
And they they got these two radicals, so that's another
good thing. So the boys in Blue did an excellent job.
But the political leadership is one might expect here in
New York anyway, which you know is a sad state
of affairs, that you can't expect them to do the
right things. Stand up for people that are just expressing
(03:18):
their God given rates to pre assembly, free speech, protest.
You're allowed to do all that, you know, whether you
like it or not, you should at least respect an
American's ability to say whatever they need to say and
not denigrated and try and blame them that somehow they're
the problem. Well, according you've got radicals on the other
side throwing don't help me bombs.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
To kill people that had shrapnel. The mayor issued a
press release and said that yesterday white supremacist Jake Lang
organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and
racism such, Hey, it is no place in New York City.
It's an affront to our city's values and unity that
defines who we are. So the mayor spend his time
(03:59):
at the message instead of the improvised explosive devices. The
First Amendment protects hate speech. I don't know Jake Lang.
I never put him on the air. I don't believe
in white supremacy. I believe in the American flag, red, white,
and blue. If Jake Lang and others want to go
out there and talk about their viewpoints in a peaceful way,
that is their constitutional right. But the mayor elected to
(04:21):
go after the message given by this so called right
wing group instead of the fact that many people could
have been killed, including New York City's finest. And you
went over that quickly. Did you say there was an
inner faith breakfast in New York City and Catholics were
not invited?
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Did you say that? Yeah? It was actually the same week,
the same day as archbishops and now Archbishop of New
York was installed. They had this big interfaith breakfast. They had, Yeah,
every sort of Eastern religion that you can imagine. They
had one forget her name. She's been all over the news,
(04:59):
the two lesbian rabbi that that always appears with Mam Doonnie.
She was one of the speakers, but there were no
Catholic speakers. Didn't see any uh in attendance there. So yeah,
in a lot of ways, it does seem like Mam
Donnie is treating Catholics in particular along with the more orthodox.
(05:21):
She's a traditionally minded Jews, pro Israel Jews that we're
the real opposition party here in New York, at least
as far as he's certainly there is what like one
one Republican left in the city.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
There's one and yeah, and these IED's according to media accounts,
was Isis inspired, So we're not, you know, this Islamic
state in Syria isis inspired attacks and the Americas after
after the message and not the possible killing of large numbers.
And this is going to continue. Have you seen before
we get onto this issue, you have a great column
up at the Catholic League through Bill Donnae you about
(05:55):
non accountability defines our culture. No one was responsible. Have
you noticed that law enforcements, say, the past a couple
months since Mom Dondi's taken over, is it even more lax?
The homeless on the streets, a lot of street crime happening,
The freebies don't work anymore. Have you noticed a change?
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Yeah, you know, I will say that there's still cops around,
but when I come in the city in the subway there,
they seem very demoralized. It's like they keep an eye
on things, but you kind of know that they got
a little barricade that they stand behind, and it doesn't
(06:34):
really seem like they have the freedom to go beyond
that barricade. When we just had that terrible frieze, you
know what was like twenty one people literally froze to death.
And I only saw one day that the cops were
working with a you know, one of these civil social
(06:55):
service types going around, Oh you really should go check
yourself in the shelter, and the homeless guys would get
bligion about it and say, no, I'm not going anywhere.
That was the end of it. Yeah, it was really
really great. You're showing a lot of compassion for those people.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Were getting killed because they don't understand the danger and
a civilized society, we would involuntarily commit them to a
mental hospital, but that would be unfair. So twenty win
are dead.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Yeah, and it's it's a shame. But the cops that
you kind of see like they were really reticent because
it seemed like they knew their rules of engagement that
they weren't allowed to do anything, so they didn't push
too hard and it was just best to step away.
And so yeah, it's not it's not good. I mean,
what was it the other day? They had the port
(07:44):
authority when the bombing and I ran started that Monday,
they had the port authority out, They had the long
guns making sure there was nothing at the major infrastructure sites.
But outside of that, that was like the last real
show of force I can think of. And ma'm Donny's
become mayor. Like I said that, the cops they stand
behind their little barricade and they make sure nothing happens
(08:06):
in front of them. But you know these guys tripping
screaming violently down down the corridor from them, clearly on drugs,
and they're they're not getting involved.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
As far as the first mayor's wife, orr name is Rama.
She's like a Syrian American. She has posted support for
the behavior of Hamas. On October the seventh, This is
the first Lady of New York City as voice support
for Hamas. How big of a deal is that in
New York.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Well, it depends who you're talking to. I mean, for
us at the Catholic League, we're we're very concerned about that.
I mean, Hamasa are pretty bad hombres. They they don't
just target the Israelis, They're they want to bring about
the Caliphate. And you know, everyone that's an infidel is
not can affair too well in they're in their califate.
(08:58):
And so to have somebody like that, I mean, okay,
sure it wasn't ma'am Donnie, but you know, you really
should come out and say, I know, you have to
be very careful. I'm always very careful not to overset
my bounds and correcting my wife. But then again, my
wife isn't out there screaming that she loves terrorists. Yeah,
like that does seem to be a fine line, you know,
(09:20):
saying that the house should be sixty eight instead of seventy.
You know, that's one thing. And even that I'm very
cautious about but the h you know, I love the terrorists. No,
my wife's never said that, and if she did, you
know what, we got a crazy sweetheart. Yeah, let's have
some talks about this. Well, I know, so, yeah, so
(09:40):
we're very concerned. I know other people in New York
they're letting it go.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Letting it go because to support those who burn babies
alive and rape women and had men generally is frowned
upon her in society. So if you have the wife
of the mayor advocating the rape and murder of women
and girls and the setting a blaze babies in their
crib and maybe beheading men, that might be perceived as
(10:04):
a negative, but none of in New York City. I
guess it passes.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Now.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Lastly, the reason I called you was his column non
Accountability defines our culture, which is you can commit terrible
acts and there's no accountability. Give us the essence of
that column.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Yeah, so this really is one of the defining features
of our culture. Is Bill points out in our website
Catholic League dot org that people generally don't want to
hold people account This is like an ongoing theme in society.
That's it somehow seemed mean to hold people accountable to
(10:48):
say that, you know, oh, I expect you to show
up on time. The kids have such a hard problem
with that these days. It is really one of the
reasons why it's hard to find good help is that
no one wants to be accountable. Everyone avoids any semblance
of responsibility. You know. One of the things that Bill
points out about is all these protesters out in Minnesota.
(11:11):
But when that was the big thing, they're all upset about, Oh,
you're being so mean to the illegals. Well, they came
into the country illegally, they shouldn't have done that. That
that's really uh, that's really the issue here is that
the law has been violating, and then we go to
whole people accountable and you get these sort of militant
leftist protesters out there violently resisting. During the big George
(11:34):
Floyd riots, another one was they shut down what was
it part of Seattle and created that free zone, the
chaz or whatever it was, this autonomous zone that we
can do whatever we want in the zone. That's just ridiculous,
but you know, people go along with it. And recently
you've seen like similar type thing going on in Portland
(11:55):
in which they're violently resisting ice the same way they
did in Minnesota. But also, you know, legalize the fentanyl,
legalize the hard drugs like they didn't in Oregon and
in Colorado. Oh that's fine, everyone loves a little bit
of hard drugs. The big push for legalization of marijuana
(12:19):
is in a similar sort of situation. And yeah, another
one that the left luve's going on about the student loans. Oh,
the student loans, is that they're so high. Well, one
of the reasons why they're so high is that President
Obama said, yeah, the federal government is going to cover these,
so the colleges got to charge more. And now the
answer is, well, let's just forgive the student loans. That's
(12:41):
just going to make college more expensive. So the people
that are supposedly going to be helped, these these poor
working kids that need to go to college, are going
to have to pay even more because the student loans
are going to be forgiven because which means the American
taxpayer has to pay for it. But that just gives
the colleges the incentive to raise the race even more.
(13:02):
But again, no one's being held accountable for their actions,
and one actually has to pay to go to school,
it'll be fine. The taxpayer can pay for it. And
these have become prevalence trands within our culture, and it's
just a very sad state of affairs.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
On that front. Karen Bass, the mayor of Los Angeles,
assigned an ordinance in the law about eight months ago
raising the minimum wage to thirty dollars an hour by
the Olympics in twenty twenty eight. Right now, it's about
twenty two dollars an hour. It's going in for thirty
dollars an hour plus benefits, so that means you have
to pay all the other stuff involved, and so large
(13:38):
numbers of trade organizations have said to Karen Bass, we
can't afford that. If you work in the hotel industry,
if you work as shall we say, in restaurants or
daycare or nursing homes, all kinds of minimum wage type jobs.
You started for fifteen twenty bucks an hour, you work
your way up, et cetera. These organizations are telling Karen Bass,
(13:59):
we're laying off thousands of employees. We can't afford it.
And it's inflationary because when you greatly increase the cost
of labor, that's built into the product or service cost
in which case you pay more money. So the Democrats
want to make sure a lot of underemployed Americans are employed.
But the result of it is not employment, it's unemployment.
(14:20):
The result of it is not keeping prices stable. It's inflationary.
So when you have inflationary actions by the government and
you make hiring people too expensive, that cost is more
unemployment and more inflation, exactly the opposite of what they intend.
And that is happening throughout the entire country. It's called
wage justice, and we're all going to pay for it
(14:43):
dearly by more inflation and secondly by having more people unemployed.
In fact, one study said that sixty two percent of
hotels in Los Angeles expect staff reductions and decreases for
the next two or three years, as much as thirty
percent of their workforce will be laid off. What you'll
cause more shall we say, unemployment. It's going to cause
(15:04):
more inflationary effects. And the other part is it's going
to mean more social services to individuals who want to work,
but it's too expensive to make them work. You know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Oh, absolutely, And this is it's not just there, I mean,
it's happening everywhere all across the country. Like you go
into McDonald's, right, you got to order everything through a
touch screen. You don't even talk to a person behind
the counter anymore. You go to the grocery store, you
got to check yourself out. Why is that? Because they
raised the wages too much and if they can't automate,
if they will, and you know, everyone keeps going, oh,
(15:35):
there's gonna be this big AI boom, There's gonna be
a big AI boom. Well, yeah, this is this is
all working in tandem, that we're demanding more money for
jobs that we're doing. Fine, great, good for you. They're
just going to replace you. They'll say, fine, sure you
can have your thirty dollars an hour. You're gonna your
job's now being done by a computer. Well, and a
(15:56):
lot of this is coming. A lot of people are
extremely shortsighted. I'm looking at what's going to be the
long term downstream effects. Listening. Yeah, I've had jobs I
don't like me. We've all done those jobs. They're not great.
I never thought, you know, what would make this more bearable.
Give me thirty dollars an hour, Give me fifty dollars,
give me a hundred dollars hours like no, you know,
(16:17):
I'm gonna work my tailoffs that I can get a
job that I actually do, like I don't want to
do this. No one is forcing you to do this job.
Can leave whenever you want.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
But these policies cause inflation to go up, they cause
unemployment to go up, they call social services to rise,
and they think it's good. How many people losing their
jobs in Los Angeles and other cities voted for Karen Bass.
You vote for the individuals to bring about what you
seek to avoid. All right, we've got to run. But
once again, Michael Mcdonaldcatholic League dot org, lack of accountabilities.
(16:50):
All right there, and Michael, once again, thanks for coming
on the Bill Cunningham Show. And Michael, you're a great American.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Thank you. Thanks, Billy, you're great American.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
God bless you and God bless America. Let's continue with more.
Do you want calls for prayers to be all over Middletown, Ohio?
Segment says he is no objection. Let's continue with more.
