Speaker 1 (00:03):
Bill Cunningham, the great American of course, and President is
in town a couple stops. He's going to be in
Writing's going to be in hebron Kentucky. That makes my
producer Tony Bender very happy at four point thirty pm
to night out of CVG. But the man in charge
of Medicare and Medicaid in this country is doctor Oz,
a short tail friend of mine from the good old days,
and many questions, many issues about Thermo, Fisher Scientific and
(00:26):
more in doctor Oz. I think welcome again to the
Bill Cunningham shown, Doc how are you?
Speaker 2 (00:31):
I'm doing well. Bill, love being with you.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
President and I are traveling around Ohio, Kentucky. These are
parts of the country where he believes we are making
huge inroads making healthcare more affordable. In particular, we're visiting
a life sciences company outside of Cincinnati, heading to Kentucky
to address.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Folks as well.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
And I think this broadly addresses the challenges that Americans
are facing, which is they think life has gotten expensive.
How much of that happened? Of course COVID we're desperately
trying to push those numbers back into the.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Realm of reality. But of all the things that folks
are concerned about.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
In regard to affordability, healthcare is number one because if
you can't afford medications that are life saving, right, if
you can't, you know, if you don't know what a
hospital bill is going to be and you get caught
off guard, these things destroy your life.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Yeah, without your health, you have nothing. Wealth is interesting,
wealth is good. However, without health, you got nothing. Tell
the American people about Trump our X. You're going to
be about in about an hour an hour and a
half or so, about about a mile from where I
broadcast from. But tell the American people what is trump
our X and how can those who have these needs
(01:40):
pharmaceuticals get help?
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Trump all X dot gov is the place where all
of the men, the deals we have struck with pharmaceutical
manufacturers are offered to the American people the best prices
for pharmaceuticals available, whether it's a fertility drug or you
know those weight loss drugs build they're so expensive they
can cost you twelve hundred dollars. We've taken that down
to the one fifth the price.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
And we've done that.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Because the President made an argument that we needed to
have most Favored Nation pricing on drugs.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Let's explain what that means.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Right now, in America, at least until we made these deals,
we were paying three times more for the exact same drugs,
even if they're made in Cincinnati, then they're paying for
that same drug sold in Europe. Doesn't make any sense.
And when we confronted the pharmaceutical companies on the instruction
of the President and Secretary Kenned, who was all over
this as well, the company said, you know what, when
we knew one day you'd come knocking, we knew.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
We couldn't get away with this forever. Let's make a deal,
and they did.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Every one of the big companies worked with Chris komp In, Hernandez,
John Brooks, this wonderful team of real experts went head
to head with these guys and got them to agree
that they would give us the same prices they sell
these products for overseas. We're putting all those medications on
trumparx dot gov. You should be checking that website before
you bought by a drug. And here's the beautiful part
about this. When you have transparency in medicine, it drives
(02:56):
prices down. If you actually know what something's going to cost,
you can smart consumer. Like when you buy a car,
you stramply buy almost anything else in your life, you
can compare prices and healthcare that's hidden from you. You
have no idea what the drugs at a cost when
you're on your way to the drug store to pick
it up, so one in three times you walk away
empty handed with sticker shot because you can't afford it.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
So for decades, the American people, now you and I
hopefully represent, have paid disproportionately high prices subsidizing Europe, Africa,
South America. We bear all the cost of R and
D and advertising, and then once one of the five
hundred million dollars costs for one drug that fails, we
bear all those costs built into the product that succeeds.
(03:37):
How come we're in Explain to Tony Bender and the
American people, how come the last thirty years we're paying
five ten times what a German is paying for our drugs.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Explain that these are powerful lobbies. They circle the wagons.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
They trounce on the President, they'll beat up on Congress.
They are clever, and they make the argument that if
you hinder the pricing that they're getting from America, it'll
cut down on innovation. The President produce correctly that we
have global freeloaders who are taking advantage of a generous
American public. If we're you know, three four percent of
(04:13):
the of the world population, but more than.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Half the profits are coming from America, it's wrong.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
There's no reason why we should not expect our wealthy
European counterparts to foot the bill with us.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Here's the best metaphor NATO right.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
NATO is an effort to defend the world against foreign invaders,
and we do that by everyone chipping in more money.
That's not how it used to be until President Trump
got into it and said to all the NATO countries
last year, you're all going to put up five percent
of your gross national product, five percent of what's your
worth is going to have to go to defend yourself.
It's a very fair number. And if you do that,
we'll match you and everyone's going.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
To be happy.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Well, we have internal invaders built right. Diseases attack us
from inside, cancer, infections, et cetera. And so there's no
reason for us not to use the same exact scenario,
and we're doing that. We've already had success with the
United Kingdom, other European countries are coming in to discuss this.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
You know, our team is out there.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
Jamison Greer, who is United States Trade Representative Secretary Lutnik.
All these tariffs, they're used very carefully, judiciously, like a scalpel,
not a meat cleaver. To Actually, I'm a surgeon, so
I know how to use this apple carefully, gentle, gently,
pushing everybody to do the right thing. And we make
the argument lives are at risk. If you don't anty
up in Europe, you're not going to get these medications
(05:24):
and your people are going to suffer. So put up
the fair amount of money. If it's you know, if
it's uncomfortable world, we're paying a lot here in this country.
Let's get the most innovative drugs. Let's cure diseases, not
just treat them chronically, cure them all. This is possible
if we make innovation our number one goal. But we
can drive prices down at the same time and make
life more affordable for the American people. If you're going
(05:44):
to go buy a weight loss drug, which by the way,
we are now making these drugs affordable to all Americans.
We predict within two years that we will actually save
money for the taxpayer by buying these drugs because they're
so effective reducing weight. But that drives down blood pressure,
drives down all the problems with diabetes and all the
down stream issues, the strokes.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
The heart attacks, the kidney failure, all that cuts down.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
So now, instead of paying for dialysis which is really expensive,
or a heart transplant, which I do, really expensive, let's
just pay for me to lose weight, look better, enjoy
your life, and you know, be healthy as you avoid
diabetes and hypertension.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
Has this not happened before?
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Because the large insurance companies mainly give their political donations
to Democrats, so artificially for decades, we've paid billions of
dollars more than we should because in the political system
sadly we're in that the Democrats get most of the
money from the insurance companies and they want to make
sure their contributions continue.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
The Democrats have sort of become the party of corporate America.
And a lot of it's not because of things we're
talking about's ideological. They sort of have you know, made bedfellows,
you know, big great bedfellows for themselves. But the President
doesn't care about any of that. She is so adamant
about doing the right thing as he's you know, as
he's gone through his leadership cycle and faced all these battles,
(07:03):
he realizes, if you're brave and you stand firm in
the face of these attacks, the American people will support you.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
And I got news for you.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
All these big companies they respect them. They might not
admit it publicly, but they respect him for always doing
what's right for the American people. And I'll give you
a concrete example. You've got these most favored nation drug
deals we struck, right are the ones I just mentioned.
We got better pricing on fertility and weight loss. They're
all in trump are.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
X dot up.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
The President has those deals done through his term, through
this administration. He's not satisfied. He wants this to outlast
the administration. He wants the American people for the next
generation to get these prices. So he's gone to Congress,
although it's really hard, and say we want to codify
these Please put these deals that already agreed to into
a legislative structure. Make a law that allows the American
(07:49):
people to know these same discounted drug prices will be
available when I'm done. That's an altruistic thing when corporate
leaders look at him. Whether they're insurance or apartment companies
or doesn't hospital leaders, doesn't matter. They may not like
all the things that the Republicans Party stands for, but
they admire a brave leader who's selfless to trying to
help the American people. And one by one, because I'm
(08:09):
witnessing it, I'm in the room, we're using the power
to convene. You're bringing these big companies together, getting them
to realize that we're better off doing this together. So
instead of are just telling you how to do it,
be nimble, you know, help us figure out better ways
of doing this to serve the American people. Yes, you'll
make less money. We've taken tens of billions of dollars
out of farmer profits. However, we've left them plenty to
(08:30):
be innovative, to continue to save lives and as a
result of that, these industry is still pretty healthy. That's
why we're going to visit some of these folks today.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
In addition to being a real doctor and administrator of
Medicare Medicaid, You've done a lot of TV and a
lot of media in the past. But when this is
pulled right now, and they abstracted it's extremely popular. Of
course we should have this. Of course we should not
bear all the expenses. But the American people do not
believe it's going to happen, and it's down to the
ground level. That's why these interviews are important, so the
(09:01):
American people know to go to trump rx dot gov
and find out what it is. Why don't the American
people from government expect something this good's going to happen?
He goes, if you ask the average American, that sounds good,
but we haven't seen it yet. Much like the tax
rebates and the big beautiful bill. Right now people are
starting to do to their taxes, but they don't understand
that they're going to get huge refunds, at least most
(09:22):
people are. So how well, when people listen to you
and I right now, Okay, this sounds good, but they
don't believe it. Why don't they believe it's going to happen.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Well, for years and years they've belive to. Of course,
the media generally doesn't like to cover this because it's
not sort of what I hate to say, they're rooting
against it. I won't I won't make that accusation, but
they're not. Everyone's thrilled that we're doing a good job.
But Bill people listen to you, and they listen to
folks actually talking about these issues in ways that are accessible.
(09:52):
So if you as that these to describe, look at
your tax payments, you're going to notice there's thousands of
dollars more in your pocket, thousands of because of the
working family tax cut legislation, while at the same time
we took out a lot of the fraud, the wasted, abuse,
and problems that we think we're hurting the American people
are most vulnerable. And when there's no taxes on tips,
no taxes in overtime, no taxes on your Social Security payment,
(10:14):
these are all things you can recognize in your in
your pocketbook. And when you go to Trump r X
dot UV, you see firsthand right there, black and white,
what drugs cost you on the site negotiated by the
President and his administration. And those are not the prices
that were there six months ago. Massive changes. And if
you're trying to have a baby, take that as an example.
You're a young couple. One third of children, i'm sorry,
(10:35):
one third of families don't have number of children they want.
They're underbabied, either they can't have any or they want
to have more. They had one, but they're having problems.
One of the big reasons they don't do the fertility
treatments is they're expensive. So this main drug Donald left
it costs about three four thousand bucks. It's one tenth
the price right now on trump arx dot gov. And
I was meeting with some of the big pharmacies, the pharmacies,
(10:56):
not pharmaceutical companies. So those the big pharmacies. They're saying
that people coming into the drug store with the little
coupons printed out from trump arctually getting huge discounts. Imagine
having an ed inner baby, maybe two more babies.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Yes, it costs you four hundred drugs to the drug
for the bucks of the drug, not four thousand drugs. Yes,
and why because that's the price. It's overseas.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
If the Europeans can get a drug for porter bucks,
now you can get one, you can have a baby,
and God bless them.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
Yeah, we need more babies.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
The average American woman has about one point five babies,
which isn't even replacement.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
Now.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Secondly, and maybe lastly, about fraud, I'm one of those
guys that watch YouTube and I watch a c SPAN,
I watch what's happening. And you've been out in the
forefront on this, the massive fraud in Medicare and Medicaid,
especially medicaid in places like Minneapolis, in which six seven
years ago Minneapolis, Minnesota, was spending one million dollars a
year in autism relief. Now it's four hundred million dollars.
(11:48):
It's gone up because of massive fraud, and people are angry.
I look at what's going on Los Angeles, in which
home care services under medicaid, it was two million dollars
a year. Now it's four h undred and fifty million
dollars a year in fraud because the fraudsters around it.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
What do you do in a combat fraud?
Speaker 1 (12:05):
And when while I see a bunch of purp walks,
I want to see purp walks people like Keith Allison
and Tim Walltz.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
What's happening with the fraud.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
This is a very very high priority for the president.
It's one of the reasons I'm if he called me
early in the morning, like at a really really early hour,
it's usually about fraud because he's noticed something, he's upset
about it that he's right the numbers you gave are
reflective of problems across the country.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
But that's bigger than just stealing.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
Money from the American taxpayer. If you're willing to steal
money from our most vulnerable, our elderly, are folks who
are struggling with autism. If you're willing to steal money
from them, you willing to steal their health. There are
people who have died because of these scams. I was
in New York on Friday. This is a terrible story,
but you know, we have you know, people who are
lure seniors, lured into these social adult day care centers.
(12:55):
They're tricked into to getting things they don't need. They're
sent for, you know her personal care service providers who
they don't want.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
And in the end of all this, we now.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
Have more people employed in personal health care services by
medicaiding in New York State than retail employees. It's the
number one job in the entire state. And this is
the kind of fraud that we're witnessing. I'm going to
be in Los Angeles on.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Thursday and Friday.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
You know this is I'm going there again because you know,
we're going head to head with Governor k news some
of the fact that he's just not taking this seriously.
And there are you know, there are two thousand hospices
in Los Angeles County by itself.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
There's six thousand in.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
The whole country. Like half the hospice is all the
whole country, almost are in Los Angeles. I mean, how
many people are dying there. Hospice is supposed to be
for end of life. There's at least seven hundred hospice
centers in Los Angeles do we don't think are legitimate.
No one seems to die in hospice. You know, it's
not legitimate services. And they tricked you. There's a woman
who told me this terrible story, her brother was tricked
(13:51):
in the signing up for hospice. When they sign you
up for hospice, they take away your regular Medicare because
you're dying, you don't need it. And so what ends
up happening when you actually get if you're not really dying,
and you get sick, they deny you care.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
This is terrible. We're not gonna let this happen anymore.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
We have a full swat team going at this problem,
where writing letters to the governors of each of these
main states are having issues. It's not just blue states.
Red states are involved as well. We want action taken now,
or we're going to defer payments. So if you don't
think that these these these entities are these governments are
(14:25):
actually credible creating credible bills. At the same time, if
they're not able to create corrective action plans, we do
have the ability to withhold payments in the future. Again,
we don't want to do these things, but for right
now anyway, if your bills are not legitimate, we think
we should defer payment to you until you give us
the real bills. Go and audit the systems, get us real, legitimate,
credible evidence that these are legitimate bills that American taxpayers
(14:49):
should be paying and protect your people.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
How much is it?
Speaker 1 (14:52):
Social adult care centers? What a scam? Social adult care centers?
You go to, the government starts paying for babysitting service,
they pay for adult games, they teach you checkers and chess? Hey,
how long will this take? And how much money? About
a minute remaining? Doctor Oz? How much money? What is
the total fraud in medicaid? You're the administrator, do you know?
Speaker 3 (15:13):
At this point we believe that there's probably one hundred
billion dollars of fraud and waste and abuse.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
It's not just fraud in Medicaid and medicare. So at
the one point eight trillion.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Dollars we pay out, I think you could aim to
collect back one hundred billion dollars. A lot of this
is taking place in these very soft services that, in fairness,
your family should be providing for you, right so you know,
if you need to help with the groceries coming up
the stairs, or balancing or checking your book, are dealing
with periodic time where you feel a little confused, that's
a family issue. And we've because we've tried to get
(15:47):
the government to pay for all that, there's foughtsters to
get in the middle of it and say, you know what,
come on down, I got everything you might want. I'm
gonna trick you in a bunch of other ways you
can never imagine. We have to protect our seniors, we've
got to protect our medicaid patients, and fraud fraudsters do
not care at all about them. And if you're not
serious about taking on fraud, that means you, as the
leader of the state, don't care about those people either.
Speaker 4 (16:07):
Doctor Oz, you're a great American a minute. You're the man. Medicare.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Medicaid fraud is rampant, criminality is everywhere. I want to
see purp walk so I want to see handcuffs. I
want to see people that are stealing money like this
on an industrial level being indicted once again. And doctor Oz,
thanks for coming on the Bill Cunningham Show. I first
met you about fifteen years ago. Maybe in fifteen years
will do it again.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
What do you think?
Speaker 3 (16:32):
I think, Bill, If you're up for it, I'll do
a lot more. Let's cover this fraud story, in particular.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
In the affordability. And I don't have to be in Ohio.
You know, I was born in Cleveland, by the way,
so that's too bad. It's like a home. Too bad.
It's home territories for me. But come bid you plenty more.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
God bless America, doctor Oz, thank you very much, Thank you.
Let's continue, And of course the President is going to
be in reading at Thermo Fish or Scientific in about
an hour or so to talk about this facility does
great work, but it's.
Speaker 4 (17:02):
Trumparx dot gov. Check it out.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
If you need any drug pharmaceutical, check it out. The
media won't cover it because it is so good for Trump,
They're not going to cover it, TRUMPRX dot Gov, Bill
Cunningham's News Next, plus traffic on news radio seven hundred WW.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
When you jump on the back of the
