Welcome to outdoors people with me.Cw Getz and her Maya mar Zaki.
Good evening. It's Wednesday, Octobertwenty fifth, twenty twenty three.
(00:52):
We got a yucky, rainy, sixty three degree fahrenheit day here at north
central Illinois. But I have asomething. It says sixty three, but
I'll tell you something. Yesterday wehit almost eighty degrees, which was about
what thirty something. Yeah, it'sjust so weird. The weather has been
very strange here. But these littleblack bugs are out. I don't know
what they are, but they're likethey're almost like little noseiums. But they're
(01:15):
everywhere today. So I don't knowwhat that's all about. They're like,
we're gonna get this last day inman, it was last weekend, so
but our whole week's supposed to benice like that. So this is probably
the calm before the storm and we'llsee what happens. I guess next week
it's going to be really cold.So we're enjoying this. Well, we
can flop weather for sure. Howabout you maya, what do you got
(01:36):
down there? And oh, bythe way, that's seventeen degrees sells,
yes here, seventeen degrees. Ohsee, fu was actually pretty good.
So when enjoy our last week, have fun in the year. Yeah,
and I'm here. It is aspring, as you know, and it
is a really beautiful blue sky. They now very warm, but too with
(02:00):
twenty five degrees sell shoes and foryou guys in United States, it means
seven to eight fahrenheit. See,we were the same yesterday. I think
that's what we got up to,a seventy eight. So yeah, it's
very cool. It's interesting how ourweather is very similar sometimes a year and
sometimes it's just complete polar opposite. So we up the winter and you could
(02:21):
be laughing at me, but yeah, absolutely well, we want to say,
first of all, we have gota special episode here for you this
evening. We took a trip toAruba and we had a great time.
And I'll tell you what, thiswas probably the nicest, the best trip
that I've ever taken, like toanywhere. And you'll see Maya in the
(02:45):
videos talk about the beaches, andyes, beaches, and I'm telling you
it's a beautiful place. And thestaff and been Kosm was just very I
mean, it couldn't it couldn't bemore accommodating. It was just we had
a wonderful time the and she's justsuch a wonderful lady. So we hope,
(03:07):
uh yeah, we hope to getback there, you know, sometime
in the near future, because hell, I might even move there. You
never know, coming to you livefrom a Rouba, you know, never
know. Oh, you were chatingon me because you told me that you
would move to Brazil. Now youare going to move to our rule.
But I'll just go one place andthen come to years and go back and
(03:31):
forth. I certainly won't come backto Chicago if I have a choice.
Yeah, it's no fun in thewinter anyway. But you have a great
time I mean, you know whatdo you think? Oh you did everything
was possible in that island. Yeah, I try to do everything, but
(03:51):
it's still stuff to do, sowe must go soon. But we had
an amazing time because of the company, you know, the three of us,
and because of the place and everyonewe met, every wonder it is
just so nice. So we hadthe amazing time and for sure was like
the best trip with the best people, for sure, in such a beautiful
(04:15):
place. I don't know if thevideo will show how beautiful and how nice
it is, because it is unreal. Yeah. One of the things that
I enjoyed, I mean, andI mean I really did, is they
didn't have to worry about anything.I mean, you could leave your hotel
key, your phone, whatever, your your music player on the table,
(04:35):
you know, if you're at thebeach, a little tap, you leave
it there and it would be therethe whole day. You could go up
to your hotel room well whatever, but you know, come back, need
your key for that. But youcould leave your stuff there. People do
not steal I don't. I've neverbeen to a place like that. It's
so it is so safe. I'venever felt so safe. Yeah, same
on and off the resort. Bothyeah, both, yeah for sure,
(04:59):
yep. So well that's awesome. We listen without any further you know,
jabber from me. Let's take.Let's take first of all, I'll let
you mention our sponsors. We'll gofrom there. So Tonight's episode of Others
People is brought to you by Holidayin Aruba one half Island, Rutabaga Pedos
(05:26):
part providing time on the water capground views making campaign easier that louse back
made in your essay since nineteen eightytwo, and by Jackson Kayak person enjoy
through Pedos parts. Today's episode isHoliday in Aruba and let's take a look.
(05:49):
I'm really from thirty Maya Roverzil andwe have that will be on khaddle.
You're uh because we were forced todeal. Okay, I'm ready.
(06:25):
I am not already. I amafraid. If you're not ready, don't
play with me. Remember that?Oh how was it? Man? You
(06:54):
like you like? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah, yeah all that. That's
awesome. That's awesome, man,you had a good time. Its not
(07:49):
yet anybody. I am so resio. I haven't seen beautiful but please run
here you go. I have neverseen that beaches. We want to clarify
(08:11):
there, We'll leave it up toyou folks. You decided. Hi.
(08:41):
I am Ayah. I am themarketing and PR coordinator. And we are
at the Holiday and Resort Aruba. We are at the most envy strip of
the islands. We are steps awayfrom the water, but also we are
steps away from storks, from plazafrom Everything that you want is right right
(09:03):
here. But anyway, say wherewe got here, we got shots are
closing shops, you have trolley stores, you have stars, ice cream parlors,
you have stores where you can buysomething for someone like souvenirs or gifts
(09:26):
or anything. So you have everythingright here. Wow. And in this
plaza particularly, they have shels watershells during the nights, so you can
have a nice evening there like aYeah, So for instance, like what
(09:48):
kind of water show are we talkingabout? Where we see they have fountains
where they with the help of music, they put the fountains into play.
Yeah, we have McDonald's. Ofcourse we do, right, They're everywherewhere.
(10:11):
And so what's what type of thingsare really popular with the tourists that
come here. What do you Imean, what do you see the most
people going? Oh, I reallylove this shop or that shop. What
are the most popular here? Honestlythe beach. Yeah, that makes sense.
Most people come through the beach. You can shop about anywhere, Yeah,
you can, you can. Youcan't find a beast, especially not
(10:33):
like when we got here. Exactly. Yeah, absolutely, you know I
was going to ask you this.I'm sure there are people that gosh would
love to live in a place likethat, because you know, uh,
that hasn't crossed our mind at all. So if people, you know,
I would loved you live on arub. Now what a couple of things
(10:56):
would you say? Since you've noticedpeople? But what kind of things would
someone have to know about this placeif they were interested in moving here?
What kind of thing? What kindof criteria say is involved? Someone mentioned
you have to have a job,Well, not exactly. If if you
are coming here, you are retiredand you want to come, the only
(11:20):
thing you need to do is invest, for example, in a house or
in business or something like that, and you can do live here. Interesting
really, Yeah, if you justpurchase property, yes, and then you're
here, welcome home, and soyou could live here like all year rounds
a certain time. You can livehere for six months. Five you've can
(11:41):
come here for six months as atourist. Yeah okay, but if you
want to live here, you justhave to purchase somebody. That's it,
you a house and you can livehere. Yeah. So really you don't
have half duel citizenship or anything likethat. Nothing. I love it,
and there you have it. Ilove it. This is let me check
this a few coo co co co. These have the main pools. There
(13:09):
are two of them. They arenot interpreted side of bridge, but everybody
could be part of that. Sothe histad for examples are slams. They
could use this side of and theother one has a zero entry, so
four are they were entry us thatthey both step by step as the big
ones at the beach. It's notimmediately steep. It's very shallow and hard,
(13:35):
so they can start walking and gettingused to the water. It's mostly
nice for the kids because they sometimesthey are very scared when they get to
sleep water immediately. Yeah, it'svery nice in the pools. They have
activities also. They have volleyball, they have customer Robbins, they have ms,
(13:56):
they have them tell us about thisrestaurant. I mean this is really
really this is our Star International andwherever you sit in the restaurant you can
see the water from there because youand do you want to go on?
(14:26):
You take him up? Okay theway, so look at the view here.
From wherever you sit you can seethe water. This is another area
(15:11):
where we do events. For example, this is very much used for engagements
because it's away from the rest ofthe hotel, from the main part.
And if they want to put letters, like big letters to marry me,
they can put it here. Andnormally nobody knows because it's so hidden here
and it's so private that nobody knows. And then you get the crew getting
(15:35):
on his knees. Yeah, it'svery cute. So there's a good tube
for the loveal Purple where the lovep poles are in love and yes one
that's proposal. We also have dinnerson the beach here and they prepare tables
with champagne or and this is thisis really a popular location where I should
(15:58):
say yeah, yeah, people loveit. Yeah, it's really romantic place.
Since we have a quarter mile ofbeach, it's so wide that you
don't feel crowded. Even though it'sa very large hotel. You don't feel
that you have everybody on top ofeach other, so you always have like
this part of the beach is empty. There's nobody here, so it's a
(16:22):
perfect place to do something prior tounprevent the celebration. That's shows just life.
A few years ago someone asked rudebakas owner Darren Bush, Hey,
how long have you guys been sellingboats? Darren replied, we don't sell
(16:45):
boats. We sell time on thewater. Of course, that comes in
all types. We help people paddlemore safely with Rudabig outdoor programs. We
rent canoes, kayaks and stand uppaddle boards. We sell and install racks
to get you from home to adventureruba. It's got everything you need to
get you out on the water, like paddles, life jackets, dry bag,
some clothing, Rudebega paddlesports on theweb at Rudebega dot com. Mention

family, a community of taddlers, and we want to make sure that everyone
has a great time out on thewater. We are made right here in
(18:33):
Sparta, Tennessee, USA. Thisis where every Jackson kayak is born,
built by him with a focus oninnovation. We are Jackie Kayak. We
are we are. We are JacksonKayak. We are we are. We're
Jackson dot we are we are JacksonKayak. So you can rent, Yes,
(19:02):
you can rent per day before youarrived, seven day before you can
you can rent them. We rentthem per day because sometimes people stay for
five nights or something like that,so they have other activities, so it
stays empty for all that time whileanother person would like to use Yeah,
that's large, because that's have somany go around here. Yes, so
(19:26):
that's what it on and around theisland. People want to know other beaches,
people want to you know, justgoes. It's not heated by anything
by the So you're done. Okay, that's that's what I was curious.
(19:48):
I'd go out away a minute. That hot water. But yeah, the
water, that's I'm sure there's otherpeople that have that question. I can't
be the only idiot that the asvery good. Okay, so tell us
we spend the week here and Ican tell why we choose holiday in but
(20:08):
I want to hear from you forthe listeners why people should choose holiday Inn
resorts in the Aruba then instead anotherhotels a year. I think the reason
people should come here is the location. It's the best location on the island.
(20:29):
We are the resort that is closestto the water and we have a
quarter mile of beach to share.Because that's crazy. They views in their
rooms it is amazing, and thenwe're going to show all of that,
sir. So guys, you canonly wait to see the view. It
is amazing for sure. And Iheard that it is the oldest hotel in
(20:52):
Aruba as well. Right, yes, it's been the holiday for fifty three
years. So people that visit theisland. They continue to come here because
they know that it's a brand thatthey are familiar with. They know how
much it leads to the brand thatthey feel comfortable. So it's really easy
(21:14):
because people trust us and they knowthat we are here and we have been
here and we will continue to behere to serve them. Yeah, they
know what to expect. Yes,and it's a really high quality. So
because I'm sure we will be back, I'm glad to hear that. And
tell me about that. What isincluded in the hotel, what you guys
(21:37):
offer, what people can do inhere? How it works, well,
we have three plans. We havea room only, room and breakfast,
and we have an all inclusive options. That option includes seven restaurants, it
includes the Acas Club for the kids, and it includes all the activities that
(21:59):
we have like bingo, aqua, rabbits, yoga, philas. It's also
it also has a twenty five percentoff this hound for ocean activities like kayaking
and some set sales and stuff likeand we also have a seventy five dollars
spot tickets. Oh my gosh, there, that's impressive. So, first
(22:23):
of all, the breakfast is amazing. It is a better breakfast I have
ever had. In the second role, it is a place for everyone,
for younger people, for couples, for couples who has kids, for families,
for older people. So you guysare for everything for everyone. Yeah,
(22:45):
that's true. For example, wehave here that kids eat and stay
free, which seems that kids beloweleven years old can eat free all around
the hotel even if they have roomon your reservation, and they can stay
for free if they stay with theirparents. So you don't have that pussle
of thinking, all have three kids, how is it going to cost?
(23:08):
So how much you have to pay, You don't have to worry about that.
We are open for you and foryour friends. Oh my gosh,
that's amazing what you guys talked abouteverything. That's really impressive. And there
is a period of the year thatit is more uh busy than anothers or
every year it's pretty much the same. How it works, well, we
(23:32):
are the busiest in water season forthe US because the US market is our
biggest market, is the biggest visitorof Aruga and they want to say the
gold so I don't do it.February March those are our best months,
our busiest months, and that's cool. I don't blame that. I do
(23:52):
the same way. And for peoplewho don't know Aruba, and yeah,
they're all. Can you tell alittle bit about Aruba, like the history,
how it works here? It isa dangerous place or note because sometimes
people are afraid of coming to SouthAmerica because of the crime. So can
(24:14):
you tell us how it works here? N Aruba is very safe Aruba.
People don't lock their cars, theydon't lock their houses. We don't have
houses with windows that are locked oranything like that. Nothing ever happens here.
It's very quiet, it's very relaxing. People feel free when they are
(24:34):
walking around. You can get outof the club at midnight and walk to
your hotel and nothing will happen toyou. It's very very safe. Also,
Aruba speaks for languages, so peoplecoming from the US are probably going
to be able to talk to anybody, even on the streets, because people
(24:56):
here the official languages are Parplamento andDutch. But people in schools the school
is the public and people in schoolshere learn English and Spanish from the fourth
grade on, so people can communicateeasily with each other. And also the
(25:17):
official money here is the everybody flooring. But US dollars are readily accepted anywhere,
so you can pay with US dollars. You don't have to change it.
You don't have to worry about thateither. Yeah, I got depressed
about the bus. They's two pointsbecause every here you have the Aruba money
and then the price in dollars,so it is much easier for travelers in
(25:41):
general. You guys make it somuch easier. And also I got impressed
because everyone in the hotel who worksin here speak at least three or foreign
language. And I was speaking thatit was mondatory because of the hotel.
But then we talk it and yousaid that you guys know the school for
language, so everyone here it isn'twelcome movatory on the island, so everybody,
(26:07):
you will be able to communicate witheverybody. We are going to see
one of our ocean front rooms onground floor so that you can see what
(26:33):
we can offer in beautiful Ruba.Open this for you. Oh wow,
this is the first thing that yousee. Amazing. Oh my gosh,
that's you imagine they wake up everyday with rais view. In your vacation,
(26:56):
you were on the vision. Youknow a lot of places you're you're
like, away, man, yougotta watch it. Yeah, that's crazy.
Yeah, it's amazing. Oh mygod, jes Now like a room
like this. I mean generally, what do these costs to to have a
(27:19):
room like that. It depends onyour plan, if you have rested,
if you have the all inclusive plan, or what time of the year you're
coming. It's the difference to Okay, yeah, interesting. Interesting. So
(27:52):
this is the first thing you seewhen you get in. This is the
upper and what you said, weare on the sixties explore. Look at
this. You my gosh, setfive. Wow, you can almost feel
(28:18):
the water here para Sally to lookat this beauty. Oh my goal.
It's just getting better. I don'tknow which to road is better. I
don't know what to do is better? Like this just so crazy, that's
crazy. So we're looking to ourgiven the center at your spot, because
(28:41):
we know that people like reacts atthe beach, but they also like their
massages and there are people that cannotlive without their weights. So that's why
we also have a gym. People. We also have us fong this side.
(29:17):
Thank you, thank you, thankyou for having us. They they
have here massage, they can alsomake makeup for drives and stuff like that.
They new hair, they do nailsand many hair and patticure. So
it's kind of a pretty complete sigh. If you're here for an event,
(29:40):
if you have something nicely should wantto do, you can also do it
here. A few years ago someoneasked Rude biggest owner there and Bush,
Hey, how long have you guysbeen selling boats? Darren replied, we

(32:20):
I said that I was coming toAruba got to impress him. Oh my
gosh, that beautiful place. Andthat's so funny. And you notice some
different or some changes after the COVID, Well, I think that gave people
like that feeling of life is short. I want to do this because sometimes
(32:44):
people have like these goals that theywant to do in life, and a
year goes by and they don't doit. Another year goes by and they
don't do it. And we've noticedthat people are kind of doing going after
their dreams and doing what they wantto do. And I think it's very
beneficial for the island, but alsofor the people. They are happier,
they are doing what they want todo, they are adding new experiences to
(33:08):
life because and that's what we wantto give them also, Yes, and
that's about life and that's what wetry to talk about in the show.
We are Outdoors. You want havepeople going out their outdoors and enjoying the
life, right, Yeah, Sothat's what we want to give to people.
Also, that experience, that thatmemory to share is forever, that
(33:32):
they can be with their families, that they can celebrate their events, that
they can be here and just addthat up to that bucket list. Yeah,
like a unique moment to share withexactly And what usually people say?
How is it good to feedback? The most shared people love a beach,
(33:53):
just staying at the beach. It'slike, I don't know if it relaxing.
I don't know if people just feellike they have no worries at all
in life. But we have receivedeven people that are going through a hard
time, they had lost someone thatthey love, or they are celebrating that
(34:14):
they just finish school, or youknow, anything at all. It's just
getting their getting engaged. People justwant to celebrate moments here and they they
love it. They love the beach, they love how close it is,
so everything. They love that theycan trust the brand. They love that
the people hear the service. Theyare nice and they try to accommodate everybody.
(34:38):
So it's a mixtures of maybe hereit's what we use for weddings,
so here we fill it up withshared cables, contail tab here for the
(35:00):
party has Now we are at Carl'sRestaurant. Our famous breakfast day is famous
among the guests, but also amongthe locals. They love it here because
(35:24):
there are so many options. It'snot your typical continental, but it has
options, gluten free, it haspastries, fresh fruits, it has omlet
station, pancake station. You're gonnasee, it's gonna be good. It's
(36:16):
amazing we have here on this side. It's the courtyard. In the morning
between eight and nine, we haveyoga, prelatters, meditation. Yeah.
So people really really love it herebecause they can start, yeah, they
can, they can start to dayrelaxed. You know, we didn't get
(36:39):
up early enough between eight and I. Here we are at the kids club.
Let me show you around. Sothis area right here is for the
(37:02):
biggest ones, for kids that wantto play on the PlayStation or kids that
really you know, have to playfootball or at least have the height to
do it. So on this sidewe have the area for the smaller ones,
for the four year olds, thethree year olds that like to be
uh, you know, watching TVor coloring something or just you know,
(37:27):
reading stories about anything. We alsohave bicycles here, complimentary bicycles. You
just come here and you sign itoff and you can take it away.
You go around the island on thebicycle. Would be amazing, really cool.
(38:22):
And this is our fabulous bartender Sam, who's gonna whip me up.
Yeah, he's gonna whip up adrink called what was it again? Who
drink? Man? This stuff isexcellent and so it all goes into this
drinking. So nickas we have wrong, Okay, we have some a lesson.
And notice that's not the cheap buttor a rum either. This is
(38:44):
like, this is pretty decent stuffand banana banana syrup. Look at this,
Look at it's amazing, No wonder, it's so good that we make
fun for corn. I thought therewas free punch. Yeah. Good's surprising.
Wow, thank you so much,Sam awesome, Thank you, sir.
(39:30):
Tho Mosca love said, I said, inspe untle child hingle mad.
I'm listen to write ye bye, thank you. Oh we were mute,
(41:43):
we can hear you. Are youa speechless? This is funny. I

it up. I'm telling you, what did you think? Did you like
it? That was the first timeyou can see it? Yeah, yeah,
it is my first time. Ilove of it. This is my
first time on the radio. That'swhy I didn't know you forgot you know,
(42:09):
literally, I do that all thetime. I have to make myself
idiot notes and then sometimes I stillscrew it up. But yeah, it
was a lot of fun, didyou you know? I really especially like
the footage it to close on theboat, you know it is everybody got
in their pray. So yeah,it was a great time. Those drinks
were fantastic, by the way.Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, how
(42:30):
do you say? It were amazingand then they served us food too.
I'm telling you this that place,I mean, it was just everything was
fantastic. There was never a downpart or yeah, everything was great except
for this, the whole place andthe holiday and people. Folks, if
you're looking for a place to state, it's that's not only smack dab the
(42:53):
best location you can get for aresort on that island holiday and Aruba is
it. And I guarantee you're goingto love the people there. You're gonna
love the food there. The breakfastwas just I know, it was crazy
good. And yeah, you knowwhat, I got trained in Germany and
(43:15):
they had the breakfast buffet that Ithought was just wow during October Fest,
telling you what, this beats thatand that and yeah, that's for sure
the best breakfast ever and the besthotel ever, like for sure, yeah,
absolutely, which you know which you'regoing to read our sponsors here and
