Speaker 2 (00:06):
Yes, that's true. W why for you young.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Beause the pipe Man here on the Adventures Pipe Man
W four C Y Radio and I'm here with.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Robin Wilson of Gin Blossoms.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
And Jesse the Gym Blossoms Nice here at Bourbon and beyond.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
That's so cool.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
It is cool.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Have you played this before?

Speaker 4 (00:39):
I only then remember I don't think so. But I
do drink bourbon, so that counts. I do a lot
of shows and there's bourbon involved most of the time,
so it feels natural.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
So what's your favorite bourbon?

Speaker 4 (00:57):
I like the Jeffersons that comes in the Pitcher wine casks.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
And what do you like about it?

Speaker 1 (01:03):
The way it makes me feel inside in my heart?

Speaker 2 (01:05):
There you go, I love it. What about you? What's
your favorite bourbon?

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Well?

Speaker 2 (01:09):
I prefer a Rye whiskey. But if I'm drinking bourbon,
I like the Colonel Taylor Nice. And which rye whiskey
do you like? Because they have a lot of that
here too, Canadian whiskey nice? And so it doesn't have
to be expensive. Well, there you go. It just has
to make you feel good, right Batman? Yes?

Speaker 3 (01:27):
Okay, So pipe Man and Batman are very similar that
let pipe Man make that's my radio name.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
I actually now that you mention it, Yeah, I'm getting
that vibe.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
I like the Dark Knight version. Which do you like better?
Dark Knight or Batman?

Speaker 1 (01:43):
They've animated series.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
Yeah, yeah, it is the superior presentation of Batman.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
I love it. I love it absolutely.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
And so you guys are this is your last day
of the tour with spin doctors and bluestrivelers.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
It is How cool is it to end on a festival?

Speaker 4 (01:58):
It's not actually today a chaotic screw screwfest. We would
have been great if the thing ended yesterday. But honestly,
at the same time, if our manager and apparently he
must have come to us at some point and said, hey,
at the very end of the tour, you're gonna go
do this festival, we would have wanted to be on

(02:20):
the bill today. But somehow we always managed to make
the beginning and the end of every tour a clusterfuck,
So that.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Goes without saying. And then today was probably a clusterfuck
because of this.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Look at this picture.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
This is the lightning at two am.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
That I saw that that morning. That's the ferris wheel
that's Oh, is that right? It's beautiful? It was. It
was nice rainy morning, right.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Yeah, Well, I'm glad it happened last night. So we
can have a great day with your guys music and everybody.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Else gotta be great. Pipe man, there you go. Are
we gonna do a collab today on live on stage
or what you need? Well? Not me. Oh, I thought
may join us if you ought me to.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
But I played drums and I sucked. I played guitar,
I sucked. I sang fresh metal and I sucked. So
now I do this. So I don't know if you
walk up, but I'll come up and announce you because
I'm very good at that.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
We don't generally have announcers. Well see that you welcome
to come dance. I don't have that. I would love that.
I would love So.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
What is it that sparked that that interest that this
is what you want to do? Going way back to
the very beginning of time for you guys.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
Oh, I remember it very very well. I was at
a sleepover. It was during the third grade. I was
at a sleepover at the neighbor's house and we stayed
up on a Friday night to watch the Midnight Special,
And that was the night that Queen debuted the video.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
For Bohemian Rhapsody.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
And so I remember that moment very very clearly in
my head and realizing at the age of eight that
I want to be a rock singer.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
And I have been on this path ever since, and.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Here you are twenty twenty five, and man, you're gonna
kill it here at Bourbon Beyond one story good or bad,
in this whole musical journey that you're gonna tell when
you're like eighty years old.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
What would be?

Speaker 4 (04:17):
When we did Saturday Night Live, the host was Phil Hartman,
And when I met Phil Hartman, he walked right up
to me, shook my hand. He said, Hi, Robin, I'm
Troy McClure and you may remember me from such educational
films as Locker Room Towel Fight, the Blinding of Larry Driscoll.
And that might be the single greatest moment of my career.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Oh my god, that is pretty fucking fun. Favorite tattoo on.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
You, not in general, well, probably the crowned Phoenix here
nice would be the all time favorite. I had this
done on the television show La Inc. By an artist
named Dan Smith. Who's kind of a big deal.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
That's pretty funny.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
Yeah, And then I've got one here. It's hard to
see under the watch, but it says this fucking hurts.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
That's what I'm like.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Hey, that's the best one, right, pretty good? Like that
is brilliant. What's the phoenix being to you anything?

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Well?

Speaker 4 (05:10):
Yeah, we grew up in Arizona and that imagery was
our environment and our culture and our community. And at
Terminal two at Sky Harbor Airport, there's this huge mural
of a phoenix, and that's like this iconic image that
if you grow up in town, you see that all
the time. And so I just felt like that is

(05:32):
the symbol of Arizona.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
In a way. It might be a guy with a.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
Gun standing in a cotton field, but in my mind,
it's a phoenix.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
So I like the phoenix much better.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
It's pretty good.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
And so are there any surprises you think we should
expect from tonight? Anything you're going to pull out for
this last show at a tour, at a festival.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
No, we are an autopilot today. We get to chop
a bunch of stuff out of the set and make
it as simple as possible. So it's just hit after hit,
and we are so well seasoned at this point, at
the very end of the tour, we know what we're doing,
our crew is on it, and so we really don't

(06:15):
have to work that hard. We just have to get
up there and make sure everybody's in a decent mood
and we can get through the show with very little effort.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
You guys are playing, they're all going to be in
more than decent mood because it's going to be badass,
I hope. So is there anything, ay, Ben you're looking
forward to if you can to see today?

Speaker 1 (06:33):
I would love to see Stergil Simpson absolutely.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Well, you have to see that yesterday.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
I guess I'm screwed.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
But they did play did play one of your songs? No?

Speaker 1 (06:45):
I did. I wouldn't think so it doesn't sound right.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
But Noah is on the bill and we're going to
try to make it over there. He's a fantastic artist,
a great songwriter, and one of our previous guitar texts
is working for him now. So hoping to get over
there and say hello to him.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Anything else you want to tell the listeners that we
haven't covered that they should know.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
No, No, we're good.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Just good. Just that you're gonna just keep kicking our ass.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
We're just gonna keep going.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
No.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Thank you guys for being here at Bourbon Beyond and
being on the Adventures.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Thank you for having me Rodman. Thank you.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
