mss jj D Geronimo. Well, hello, and welcome to the Successful
Women's Show. Oh thank you, actor Madeline. I am thrilled to be
here. Well, I tell youwhat I always start off by giving the
standard bio all my guests, butthen I like to ask the question,

(04:17):
or really just ask them to tellus what you want us to know about
JJ D Geronimo. Jj D Geronimois a woman in business that had come
up against many many obstacles when strivingfor her goals and was certain that there

(04:40):
was another way to get it done. And I have spent the last fifteen
years really gathering strategies, best practicesand insights not only for my career,
but to share them with other womenacross the world so they too can make
their goals a reality. Wow,that is always a good thing. I

(05:00):
love it. I love it.I love it because that is my mission
too, to just make sure theseladies have to U can get around some
of the obstacles that you know theymay have to face when trying to get
where they're they're wanting to go.So tell us what should people do when
they start asking questions like what isthis all for? Or now what?

(05:25):
Or is there more? And Iasked that because you're you know you your
book on Seeking, I know itdeals with a lot of this, So
tell us about that. Yes,yes, and so Seeking is my third
book, and it's something that hassort of come to me later in life
in the sense that I achieved manyof the goals I had strived for because

(05:49):
of the other books and research andthings I've done prior to this. But
I did get to a point inmy life where I was striving and driving
so hard, but I really didn'tfeel the joy and success is that I
thought I would feel. And itkind of came to a point in my
own life where I had to sortof turn around my navigation system that was

(06:10):
so outwardly pointed all the time todo some inside work. Wow, So
you literally asked yourself those questions then, like what is this all for?
I mean, how did you getpast that? Or how did you know
exactly what you were seeking? Orwere you seeking anything? I didn't know

(06:33):
what I was seeking, but Ikind of thought by this point in my
life that I would have a lotmore joy, that I would feel like
I could take my foot off thepedal a little bit. But I felt
just as anxious and driven as Idid in my late twenties and early thirties,
and I just realized that no matterwhat I conquered, what parrot I
went after, what title I ranfor, that I was not going to

(07:00):
satisfy that. That just tenacious energyto get there all the time, And
honestly, I couldn't even tell youwhere there is, but I was so
busy working to get there. Wow. And that's I think that's the way
a lot of us are. Youknow, we as you say that you
know that the topic seeking, we'reall probably seeking something and in a lot

(07:25):
of cases we just don't know whatthat something is. So I know you
also refer to something you say aboutworking on releasing stories within tell us about
that. What do you mean bythat? Yeah, I'm just kind of
going to the book now. Sointeresting because I ended up in a therapist's

(07:49):
office and I remember sitting there thinking, this is ridiculous. I can figure
this out for myself. But thereality was I couldn't. And when I
talked to her about where I wasin my life, what was happening in
the personal sides of my life,I was really struggling. And it wasn't

(08:09):
the struggle that most people would think, like, oh, she's you know
some people I made me say I'mgoing through mid life crisis, or you
know, maybe I should have morewine, or I should go on more
trips. But I knew it wasmore than that. I knew like I
needed a real shift, but Ididn't know how to start. And thankfully

(08:30):
the therapist that I went to wasreally guided me towards mindfulness training, which
at the time when she told me, I mean I think, I started
crying. I was like, no, I really am lost in my own
choices. Even though from the outsideI looked like I've got everything going in
the right direction, I feel lost. And she said, you must go
to mindfulness training. They have aclass. It's starting in a couple of

(08:52):
weeks. Blah blah blah, Andof course I went home and did not
sign up for it. And thenI went back to her again and she
said, JJ, do not comeback here unless you sign up for that
mindfulness training. And I just wasannoyed. I was like, I feel
like I was going through like myown reckoning that how could this mindfulness thing

(09:13):
help me? But fast forward,it really was the cornerstone for the work
that I the inside work that Idid for years to follow. And I
think a lot of women struggle becausethe voices in their head, the stories
they're telling themselves, the things they'vecollected from second grade, you know,
junior year of high school and evenbeyond often impacts our decisions and the way

(09:37):
we feel about ourselves. And forme, mindfulness was really the key that
helped me unlock that energy so thatI could have more joy in that current
moment. Wow, Wow mindfulness. So why do you think so many people
may have a hard time with mindfulness? Do you have a lot of clients

(10:03):
that you work with on, youknow, getting through that or figuring that
out. Well, I'm a oneto many person and so I do a
lot of keynote speaking and I dotalk about this quite a bit because I
often start I used to start yearsago with real strategies to get a get
to that next level, give that, you know, invitation to that board
seat, get aligned with that nextstrategic position. What I realized is that

(10:28):
if we don't stop and think abouthow we talk to ourselves, what we
say when we're eagerly thinking about whatwe want to do next, if we
don't really do that inside work, oftentimes the outside is not going to change.
Okay, now that kind of bringsme to something interesting that I actually

(10:54):
got in my email just probably thisweek, and it was about the law
of attraction. Do you think thatthat has anything you know, is there
any type of correlation between the lawof attraction and you know, mindfulness?
Do you think that that's related inany way? Yeah? I think if
you ask most people, they wouldsay that they were positive and they had

(11:16):
gratitude. I think most people wouldsay that in general. But if the
reality is when you talk to womenabout what they want to do next,
what seat they want to get in, what title they want to achieve,
and you say, okay, great, what is that? What is that
for you? And they'll tell yougenerally within minutes, they'll either tell me
or you why it's not going towork, why now is not the time,

(11:39):
why they're not ready, why theyneed another certification. If we're lucky,
we'll hear all those things. Ifwe're not lucky to hear them,
they'll be saying many of those thingsto themselves. And when they're saying those
things to themselves, they're talking themselvesout of leaning in. And what I
tell a lot of women is likethat, research shows women wait and to
be one hundred percent prepared before theydo anything. And the reality is,

(12:01):
if you are waiting to be onehundred percent prepared once, you're never going
to go anywhere because there's no wayyou can be prepared for something you've never
done. And two, you're notgoing to build your self efficacy. And
self efficacy is having a vision forwhere you want to go and believing you
can achieve it. It's something that'slearned and it's essentially bucket you carry around

(12:24):
and every time you wait to beone hundred percent ready, you have no
coins to put into your self plicacybucket, which is the bucket that you
use when you're unsure about your choicesor you're not sure if you're ready.
Wow, now you hit the nailon the head about women waiting until they
are prepared one hundred percent. That'sone of the things I say in my

(12:46):
TED talk when I'd say, youknow, men will apply for a position
when they have only sixty percent ofthe requirements, but women, like you
said, they won't apply unless theyfeel they have one hundred of the requirements.
And I mean, you wonder whythat is, because you know,
what's the difference in the mindset. You know what's the difference in the thinking

(13:09):
that the man can say, oh, well, i have number one,
number four, number five, soI'm gonna apply for this, but the
woman to look at it, andshe may even have more qualifications, but
she still won't go for it ifshe can't check all the boxes. That's
amazing because we're trained. We're trainedfrom a young age. The way we
trained the little girls and little boysis very different. Right. Little girls

(13:33):
are often aligned to very domestic thingsto do them right. Men our boys
are often aligned to outdoor things. It's just like we And those are the
stories I'm talking about that you haveto unwind, and you can only unwind
them if you know that they're there, and the only way to know that
they're there is you have to bemindful of your thoughts, which I had

(13:54):
to be trained to do because societymakes us believe that everything we need is
outside of us, and they're goingto tell us through the television and ads
and social media what we need when, and so we have to pause that
stream of information to really sit withourselves in a way that we haven't done
before or haven't done often, tosay, you know what, when I

(14:15):
say I'm going to go for thisposition, what am I saying to myself?
What are the first few things Isay? I need to write those
down, I need to look atthose? Are those supportive? Where did
those stem from? When did Ihear those for the first time? And
how do I underwind that conversation?Wow? So when you finally listen to

(14:39):
your therapist and went through through themindfulness training, what did that entail?
I mean, what did you literallyhave to do? You know? How
did you do? I mean, did you just sit in a room and
just say block out everything and sayI'm going to sit here until I get
it, or what exact did youdo? That's a great question, because

(15:01):
I showed up with my notebooks,my coffee, my favorite pen, some
colored markers, some sicky notes, because I was going to get stuff done
while I was there. You know, it's a three hour class for eight
Sundays, and I was going toget stuff done. And after the first
class, my teacher asked me whatall that stuff was for and if I
could kindly leave it in the car, and I was like, no way,

(15:24):
because I'm going to get stuff done. And it took me a couple
of classes to be quite honest,I mean it really did, and the
whole idea. She does several exercisesbased on John Cabotsin's training. One of
them is eating a dried cherry,So you know, she talks you through
how to be in the moment whenyou're eating, how to really conduct mindful

(15:48):
eating because most of us watch something, read something, talk on the phone,
drive while we're eating, and soreally teaching yourself how to be in
the moment in such a simple taskwas really challenging, and she continued to
build on from that each week. But I will tell you the most beautiful
thing of mindfulness is that I ama viewer, a front row viewer of

(16:11):
my thoughts, which you cannot stop. They're there all the time, but
you get to decide which ones youwant to hold on to and which ones
you want to let go. AndI could never have done that by myself,
Like I had to get formal trainingto learn how to create that space
and awareness for what I talk aboutin my head all the time and how

(16:33):
that drives my decisions. So youdo feel that the mindfulness trainee actually did
change your life. Oh my gosh, it changed. It was really the
cornerstone or the launching pad, becausethen I started getting interested in all different
types of modalities, energy practices, healers, ancient wisdom, and I really

(16:55):
did a six year journey of seekingof what is out there? What can
I learn about myself and how willthat help me create more self satisfaction in
the sense that I'm just comfortable inmy own skin and potential joy. And
that's what I talk about in mythird book, Seeking is their key strategies
to raise your energy, sidestep yourself, dout, and align with your

(17:19):
life's work. Because that's really whatcame out of all of this seeking.
That was an inside job. Wow. So how can we shift from seeking
outward to seeking inward? That's agreat question. That's a great question.

(17:41):
So the first thing is your thoughts. I mean, you really have to
mine your thoughts. I think thesecond thing is you have to pay attention
to what you pay attention to.So what shows are you watching, what
things are you eating, What conversationsdo you find yourself in, what friends
are in your inner circle? Youknow, what interests you. I think
for so many of us, we'reall over the board like a ping pong

(18:02):
ball with the energy that we hold. And for many of us, if
we want to really leap into thatnext level of influencer impact, we often
often have to hone our energy. We have to create a launching pad for
ourselves. And oftentimes you really gotto get yourself in the right space because
many of us will say that we'repositive, we have gratitude, but we're
the first ones in our head orout loud to yell at somebody in the

(18:26):
parking lot, be mad about thecoffee machine, you know, take it
out on somebody and our family, you know. And I feel like I
really had to hone in my energyand really manage how I was showing up
in the world. Wow, Now, what don't you mean by energy or
even frequency. When you're referring toyour life's path, what do you mean

(18:51):
by that? Because you've mentioned soYeah, as I mentioned before, I
came from the tech space, thecomputer space, and you know when a
long time ago I worked on radioand television and telephone, so that type
of technologies and offend radio, AMradio, off M radio is frequency modulation.

(19:11):
And so I really think about energylike a radio station. You know,
are you at eighty five point sevenninety two point one? Okay,
you know ninety five point four ninetynine, you know one oh two?
Where are you most of the time? And if you want to create more
opportunities for yourself or more levels ofengagement, how do you is the energy

(19:33):
you're at working or do you haveto raise your energy to get into different
rooms and different conversations? And sohow do you do that? And that
really goes back to what are youwatching? What are you reading? What
are you talking about? What areyou saying to yourself? Because what I
had to do is I had tomove from being more of a practicing polluter
of oh gosh, the coffee machineis empty, or can you believe that

(19:53):
person didn't call me back? Orcan you believe I was on hold for
an hour or I was supposed tofly home yesterday and get home today,
and all those people are idiots, like where are you on the spectrum?
And like how do you not letthe outside world impact your energy? And
that's been a real journey for me, is to not let the outside world

(20:17):
impact what radio station I am resonatingat. And that's been a really interesting
experience and beneficial experience because I preferto be at a higher frequency because I
get some really cool opportunities and conversationslike this, and I get to do
some really awesome work, but Iwas not getting access to when I was

(20:41):
at a lower radio station, rightright, Wow, So can you also,
you know, help yourself, Likeyou were saying, what are you
looking at? What? You know? What are some of the things that
I would imagine, the people thatyou're surrounding yourself with in different things like
that. So I guess it wouldhelp too sometimes when you just kind of

(21:04):
get away from it all and justyou know, say hey, I'm just
gonna shut down for the day,no cell phone, no computer, no
people, no anything. I mean, doesn't that doing something like that wouldn't
that help? Maybe the kind ofit re energize you, Like you said,
bring that frequency back up or yeah, if you have things that like

(21:26):
I yes, so, yes youcould. I don't have that luxury as
much as I'd like to be quitehonest, you know, I have a
thriving business that I don't. Youknow, I have to do every day
right, so I can't just shutdown, And if I did, I
don't know if I'd have the mentalpeace. But what I can do is,
you know, before nine am,or really before eight thirty, I

(21:48):
have to do something outside or Ihave to go to a class, or
I have to do something because Iknow that I will be a better worker
if I break a sweat. Ijust know that about myself. So like
that is part of my day mostdays. And I definitely when I go
to bed at night, I'm listeningto motivational things. I'm watching YouTube videos,
I'm listening to books on Audible. So I have bookends in my day

(22:12):
that I really feel like help mestart and end the day on a really
high energy. Absolutely, and youand I seems like we have basically the
same routine because that's the way Iam. The first thing in the morning,
my beginning my day. I havean exercise class that I go to
and like you said, it's likethat's my me time, you know,

(22:34):
where I can go and let offthat energy and you know, release and
different things like that. And again, like you said, before I go
to bed, I don't put anynegative energy in me, Like I don't
watch anything on TV that I knowthat's gonna have me. You know,
sometimes you watch this stuff or youlisten to this stuff, and you lay

(22:56):
down and go to bed and yourmind is churning with all that stuff in
there. And so I'm like you, I don't like to have that kind
of stuff, you know, inmy head. When I get ready to
go to bed, I like somethingthat's soothing, you know. I listen
to different types of music or andif I do watch something, it's gonna
be something maybe that makes me laughor you know that's that's funny and something

(23:19):
that I can enjoy because it givesyou a piece in your you know,
like you said, in your mindbefore you actually go to bed or what
have you. Because I, yeah, that, wow, that is so
interesting how our I guess our brainscan adjust to different things and how it

(23:41):
soaks in different things too, becausewhen you say about the mindfulness, when
you think about it, it's reallymaking sure that your mind is well and
that you're feeding at the right things. That that's what it sounds like almost
that you you you really want tomake sure that it's you know, you're
getting the right stuff in there thatwill keep you balanced, keep you at

(24:04):
peace, keep you like you said, you can't you know, for you,
shutting down a whole day is justnot in the cards. So you
have to do other things to makesure that you're getting through the day without
all that stuff in your head.Wow, that's true. And a lot
of people say, well, alot of this significant other and he or

(24:26):
she does this to me. Ijust want to say, like, nobody
really does anything to you. Thereality is is that is the energy that
you're attracting right now, and ifyou work to raise your energy. Yeah,
those people often just float away,as sad as it may be.
You know, when I moved fromwhere I was to where I am now,

(24:47):
like some relationships, yes, itjust kind of disappeared. Some had
abrupt endings unexpectedly, but I knownow that they weren't for my highest good.
And when I was writing, yeah, when I was writing this third
book, Seeking, I had aconversation with my close friends and I said,
you know, I'm writing this bookand it's a really high frequency book,

(25:12):
and I have to stay in azone. So when we chat or
whatever, I'm not going to beable to like dissect the neighborhood whatever,
or talk about whatever that might notbe high frequency. I'll be like,
you know, on the weekends orwhatever, I'll call you, gonna have
twenty minutes or talk about whatever. But like if we talked her in the
week, I'm just going to haveto keep it really high because I'm writing

(25:34):
every day and I just don't wantto spend another hour trying to get back
to a different energy frequency. SoI just told my friends and family and
they were pretty cool about it.They think it's funny. They're like,
what frequency are you in now?You know, They kind of make a
joke of it. But the realityis is like I had to almost verbalize
it when I was writing this thirdbook because it was such a beautiful process

(26:00):
in a lot of ways, itwas an intense process of just information that
was just coming out on these pages, and I just really had to be
mindful of my energy, especially towardsthe end when it was all really coming
together, like I could not getmyself caught up in nonsense. Absolutely,
And I remember thinking as you weretalking and when I was younger, and

(26:23):
like you were saying about relationships, they just kind of fade away. But
I remember thinking one day, aftera relationship I had been in, I
thought to myself, you know, something has got to change, because if
there's an idiot within a fifty mileradius, they will attach themselves to me.
And it has to be something thatI'm attracting that's causing this. So

(26:47):
I had, Yeah, you know, so I understand what you mean about
having the change the way you kindof do things too, so that you
can attract something different. And youknow, some of those things that,
like you say, you just kindof start fading away. They don't you
know, I don't get that.I don't have that problem anymore, you
know, So just I fout thatso funny, And I actually, like

(27:11):
I said, I literally sat downand thought that and I had to,
you know, I had to laughat it because I thought, yeah,
you're gonna have to change something.Yeah. Wow, And it's probably so
helpful for the work you do nowbecause you can really empathize with people when
they're different parts of their life andwhat they're going through because you know,

(27:32):
I and all the work that I'mdoing, like so many things that come
your way, are to learn something, to expand your sphere of knowing.
You know, and even sometimes wedon't even realize it, it really might
give us like the stepping stone tothe next thing. And So if you're
in a situation right now where you'relike, I don't know why this is
happening to me, I can't believethis, maybe just say what am I

(27:56):
supposed to learn from this? Whatam I supposed to learn from this situation?
Because you want to move through thatlesson, especially if it's a yucky
one as fast as possible. Yeah, Yeah, it's a learn it's actually
a learning experience it. You know, you can learn something from it if
you let yourself, you can learnsomething from it. Wow. So how

(28:18):
do you handle self doubt? Now? You know with this new insight and
awareness that you have, especially aboutthe mindfulness part. Well, I have
self doubt just like the rest ofus all the time, like it's always
there, But now I sort offollow what Jensen Sarah says in her book.
You're a badass, she says, let me just see what I can

(28:41):
do. Let me see, becauseif I'm just seeing, I'm not putting
all these expectations on how it hasto look or what it needs to be.
But I'm just checking it out.And I really love that advice because
it gives me permission to lean intothings. I have no idea what I'm
doing. You know, I'm goingto start helping more women get published.
And even though I publish through myown books, I'm putting all the pieces
together. And the self doubt aroundthat is obviously high, but you know

(29:04):
what I've done it. I haveall the connections, I have all the
back office, Like, yes,I'm going to learn, but you know
what, I'm going to help morewomen get published. And to me,
that's a bigger why than anything thatcould possibly go wrong. Absolutely. Wow.
So besides being a successful business womanand award winning book writer, you're

(29:29):
also a light worker. So ullus, what does that mean? Oh gosh,
Well, I've been on this healingjourney essentially, and we all can
heal a story, an experience,a situation. Most of us have something
they have to work through, andI would say, through that I've learned
a lot about myself, about myconnection, about my ability to channel information

(29:55):
and even just create a path formyself that often inspires others on their path.
And I think for many of us, when we work through digging those
stories, when we work from diggingout at the darkness, it illuminates us
and illuminates others. Now, yourbook Seeking that you wrote, this is

(30:17):
about your journey. Tell us alittle bit more about your books seeking.
Yeah, so Sinking Seeking is verymuch about my journey, and it's a
lot of stuff that I did offthe side of my desk. So you'll
see a stack of books off theside of my desk. It's things that
I did because I felt inspired tolearn more about myself. And when I
was writing the book, I reallytalked about the relationship with my mother,

(30:40):
my challenges with perfectionism, how moneyhad driven so many of my decisions,
and the energy I've been giving moneyfor decades, and how I had it
to shift that. So the appendanceof the book is quite dense because I
share not only all the books Iread, the webinars I've attended, but
all the energy healers I've gone too, and I've extended that into a community

(31:03):
so that people can really work throughthings that are no longer serving them.
And I feel like Seeking for manypeople has been that book that has helped
them lean into what is calling them. So tell us what's next on the
horizon, anything coming up that youwant to share with us and let us
know about. Well, definitely helpingmore healers, energy practitioners, like really

(31:30):
great energy people getting their work publishedbecause I think we need more of that
in the world. So that's definitelyon the horizon. But also I'm working
on I've been doing retreats for aboutfourteen retreats I've already done, and I've
been gifted this beautiful retreat place onLake Erie, and so I'm going to
be starting to put more programming togetherfor people to come to the water,

(31:51):
work with energy practitioners, put theirfeet in Mother Natures, maybe sit in
a drumming circle, or sit througha bio hacking circle. Just really giving
people access to more things to helpthem shift the energy that's no longer serving
them. And isn't that great.I did a retreat earlier in the year

(32:13):
where we went we were on alake, rented a house on a lake,
and some the ladies went and itwas just amazing, you know,
the energy that was there in thatgroup. And you know how some of
the ladies that they really really neededthat, you know, just to be
able to get away for a littlewhile and kind of rejuvenate themselves, you

(32:36):
know, replenished, like they filledtheir own cups first, you know,
before they can take on the worldand take and help anybody else, kind
of help themselves first to get backinto the swing of things. So that's
retreats. I just love them.I think they're fantastic thing to do.

(32:57):
Yeah, So tell us if youhad one piece of advice that you would
lead with our viewers and our listeners, what would that advice be. Now,
there are very few accidents, veryfew, you know, most things
that cross your path are here toserve you in some way. And I

(33:20):
feel like you just have to bein the present moment to see, be
aware, listen to what is comingto you. Most of my messages come
through other people. If I hearthings two or three times, I'm like,
oh, okay, I probably shouldlean into that. So I think
that, you know, my wholegoal in my life is to be in
the present moment. As often aspossible. Mindfulness has definitely helped me do

(33:43):
that, but it has given methe joy that I was seeking, and
also the just the experience that we'rehaving here every moment. And if you're
still listening to us, there's morein life for you. It's really about
you just kind of away the stuffthat is no longer serving you so that
you can really be in a placeto shine. Absolutely. Now, you

(34:08):
mentioned wanting also wanting to help othersto get their work published, you know,
so do you are you? Doyou have your own publishing company now?
Or is this just coaching that youwill do to help them to get
you know, get through that somepeople have takes a really long time,

(34:29):
or they don't know where to startor you know, how to get started
even to to start to write andto publish anything. So is it you,
uh, literally publishing for them? Are you coaching them through how to
get through that process? Either orhonestly I have options for both and whatever
they seem to need. I thinkpeople that have quite a bit of stuff

(34:52):
written already is probably where I'm goingto start. Is people that I have
sitting on manuscripts or close to finishedmanuscripts that are looking not only how to
get published, but how to getnoticed, because unfortunately, writing a book
is a ton of work, butmarketing it is often harder. And not
knowing where to start or what todo and things that you need to do

(35:12):
six months before you publish, sixweeks, six days, and then six
months after is so critical and Iwish I had that when I published my
first book, and now that Ihave all the people and the resources,
I'm looking forward to sharing these withmore people so that they can really use
their book as a launching pad forwhere they want to have more influence and
impact. Absolutely, that's fantastic.Well, tell us how can our viewers

(35:37):
and listeners get in touch with youif they want more information about what you
do, also about the publishing gettingtheir book published. How can they reach
out to you? I think thebest way. I mean, obviously,
I have a website in social mediaunder my name JJD Geronimo, but I'm
a back to the LinkedIn user,as you will see if you check out
