On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Patrick Stone and Sam 'Bam' Colton of the band Budderside at Welcome to Rockville. Budderside is excited to be the first interview of the festival and they express their gratitude for being involved with such a great group of people, including Danny Wimmer and his team. They discuss the well-organized nature of the festival, highlighting how it stands out as one of the best run festivals in the United States, modelled after the renowned European festivals.

The conversation then moves on to Budderside's involvement with Matt Pinfield and Danny Wimmer's podcast turned TV show. Budderside was asked to record the theme song for the show, which has been a surreal experience for them. They talk about the excitement of hearing their own music on the show and the gratitude they feel towards the team behind it. The band also mentions their upcoming plans, including releasing new singles, recording a new album, and their strong friendship and collaboration as a band.

Pipeman and the band reflect on the journey of being musicians and share personal moments that solidified their passion for music. They discuss the addictive nature of touring and performing, the sense of belonging they feel with their bandmates, and the importance of being in a band where everyone is friends.

(00:28):
Here's your host, the pipe Man. Serious designed losses of shuts, holding
down, reminding of terms to this. It is the pipe Man here on

(00:59):
the Adventures pipe Man w FORCY Radio. When I'm here with Patrick Stone and
Sam bam Colton of Butterside Nice hereat Welcome to Rockville. Yea to start
my day like you're the first interviewof Welcome to Rockville. So I think
the way things are with me,it will probably be the best one.

(01:19):
Like I'm the one take wonder,so everyone after this is gonna be the
retake. Yeah, well that's whatwe do. We're gonna We're kicking down
the doors for you. We're poppinga lot of cherries. This is my
first Danny Wimmer festival ever, sayingwow. Of course played here with Dorothy
before, but Butterside's popping its cherrywith Danny Wimmer today Welcome to Rockville Nice
by Heart Radio. Nice. So, yeah, you've never done a Danny

(01:42):
Wimmer festival. You're in for atreat. I am, I'm excited.
Looks like it. I mean,so far, everybody's just so nice and
like it's amazing to see this massiveof an undertaking be so well organized.
Oh yeah, I mean I dolots of festivals here, the UK,
Europe. Danny Wimmer Festivals by arein the United States is the best run
one, especially just everything the art, for the artists, for media,

(02:07):
for the attendees. They just theyknow how to put on a festival.
I think that it's kind of modeledafter European festivals, which are always known
as like the best festivals. Yeah, we've done the Vacan Festival, which
is yeah, again another massive undertaking, very well organized. Yeah, the
festival is the best. Man.I'm just super excited, and we couldn't

(02:29):
be you know, we couldn't befeeling more grateful than to be involved with
such a great group of people.Danny Wimmer and all of his people are
just so loving and kind and justawesome. We just can't wait to prove
our worth to them today. I'msure you were and will because you guys
are badass and what's kind of cool. Let's talk about this theme song that
you guys have because it's very appropriatefor this festival. Yeah, Matt Pinfield

(02:52):
and the Danny Wimmer started a podcastbasically on his laptops. You know what
was it a year and a halfago and it's come you know network TV
show Now. Yeah, but theyhad me on to co host. They've
had our songs on the Countdown constantlyand they were crazy enough to ask us
to record the theme song for them. So we went into the studio and
we we came up with a reallypowerful track and they're they're using it and

(03:15):
we couldn't be more excited about.Did that blow your mind when you got
that request? Sam? Oh,totally. Yeah, it's awesome. Just
watch it on TV and hearing thetheme song, it's it's like, oh
damn, that's awesome. It's reallycool of them to ask us to do
it, and we're stoked at ithappened. Yeah. Isn't it cool that
like every time that show comes on, you're hearing your music and you're like,

(03:37):
wow, it's almost like surreal, right Yeah? Yeah, I mean
you you know, you're you're givinglittle little pebbles to follow, you know,
throughout life, and you're just waitingfor that next one to show you
that you're on the right path.And that's a that's a big stone to
step on, you know, nodoubt, you know. Matt Penfield and
Josh Burnstein and Katie Babs. It'sjust like these are these are people that
not only do you want to knowin the industry, but then once you

(03:58):
do get to know him, youfind out how wonderful and loving and kind
and great friends they can become. That's just the icing on the cake.
And then it's to be part ofit a countdown show as the theme song
is incredible. Oh yeah. AndKatie Babs said of that song that if
after thirty seconds you're not singing it, you're no fun. Right, that's
a that's a pretty good testimonial rightthere. It's pretty true. We're gonna

(04:20):
prove that today. We're gonna playthat tonight or today on the on our
stage. Nice we got Logan andJeff joining us too. Oh, come
on down, yeah, give themthe mike, let them yell into it
a little a little bit. I'vesaid, we just want you to play,

(04:41):
right, Yeah, that's what Ilike to do. There you go.
So, how does it feel foryou guys to be here at Welcome
to Rockville, a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to it. It's
gonna be it's gonna be a coolday. Yes, yeah about Jeff,
what's up, dude, what's up? What's up? Man? No,
I'm still to be here. Areyou kidding? Even the fact of like
riding on the racetrack and everything, man, it's it's sick. It's huge.

(05:04):
Yeah. Last night I texted mybrother because every time I talk about
festivals, he doesn't really care. But then I said, I'm driving on
the Daytona Speedway right now, andhe's like sending a pick. I mean,
it is a kind of by conic. It is Wow. When you're
out there, like driving on it, It's like, I can't believe I'm

(05:24):
driving on the Daytona track. Thesize is surreal too. It does not
do it justice. Man. It'sso different than being in the stands looking
at when you're on it, right, it's so wild. It sinks in
right. You look at that andyou think to yourself, I mean when
I watched when I watched racing onTV, You're like they're just go rolling
in a circle, and then you'reright next to this thing that's practically vertical

(05:45):
and you're like, right, oh, okay, that is pretty deaf,
and I have a jeep, sothat's kind of scary. Going up the
embankment, I'm like, I'm gonnaroll. So what else is going to
be going on after Welcome to Rockville? What you guys? We've been compiling
a lot of you know, footage, show, a lot of videos and
singles we've been recording. So we'rejust going to keep, you know,

(06:06):
relentlessly knocking you out with new materialfor the next few months. We've got
a couple of singles all lined upand we're just like holding onto them tight,
you know, not not to letthem all out too quickly. But
we plan on finishing our record sometimetowards the end of the summer, releasing
that in the fall. Nice andwe've got some pretty promising things coming up.

(06:26):
Yeah, I love it. Ilove it. And So in this
journey of music you guys have beenon, is there like one moment in
time that you're like, damn, this is what I need to do to
rest of my life. Was theresomething that happened that you were like that
happened to you? I think sofor me it was really I was fourteen

(06:48):
and I've had this opportunity with myfirst band to open an arena show in
my hometown of Saint Louis, andthat was kind of the moment where I
was like, Okay, I haveto do this for the rest of my
life. That's my drug. Now, this is it. Yeah, you
know, this is everything. Sothat's for me. It is kind of
a drug too, especially going outand tour and stuff. Like some people
that don't do it, they don'tunderstand. They'll be like, you know,

(07:10):
wouldn't you rather be at home.I'm like, no, I get
home. It's kind of depressive.I got nothing to do. Yeah,
there really is something special about thetraveling circus and playing shows every night in
a different city. Yeah, differentpeople. It's really really and yet you
have your family too, because it'slike all your friends and people you know
are doing the same thing and that'swhere you see them. So when you

(07:32):
get home, they're not there, right yeah, right yeah, and then
you're a slave to the city thatyou're in. Right, It's it's much
better to be with your boys forme. I had that moment literally last
week or a week maybe two weeksago. I had that cool again.
I don't know how many times I'veexperienced that where I go, Yep,
this is definitely what I want tobe doing. But our rehearsal at a
crappy little rehearsal hall, and I'msitting there listening to our music thinking,

(07:56):
God, it's never sounded this goodbefore. Wow, Like I'm you know,
am I finally in the band I'vealways wanted to be in. I
I'm just super proud. So likeagain, I just can't wait to get
on that stage and show everybody whatwe're all about today. I love what
you just said too, because there'sso many bands that, like, I
don't know, sometimes the artists inthe band they don't want be in the
band, or you can tell they'reunhappy or there's tension. So I always

(08:18):
love when R says, band, this is the band I always wanted to
be in. It's also kind ofcool because I feel like we're all really
good friends. Sometimes that's keys doingit, So we're all really good friends.
This is like our creative outlet. We all get a say in what
happens and what we're doing and stuff, and it's pretty cool that's able to
do it. That's definitely key becauseif you guys spend all this time,

(08:39):
went thing you better like the person. I mean. Another cool thing is,
you know, we've we've been throughso much together as friends and as
people, and when we go towrite and record together, it's all you
know, it's such a group effortthat you know when we when we when
Jeff counts us in a four countfor that first song today, it's like
it's something that we've all done togetheras a team, as a family.
So it's it's just that much moreimportant and special. Nice. How about

(09:03):
you? What's your what's yours? One? All right? I get ready
because it's any and every time I'mbehind that drum, kid, it seems
like today, Man, when you'resitting back there, you gotta take the
three seconds to just kind of whetherit's looking out, you got to take
that deep breath. It is ashot of adrenaline that you cannot be you
know. So I'm excited. I'mstoked for stoked to be here, Stoked

(09:24):
to be a part of it.You know, I love it. Yeah.
Yeah, because even last night atthe pre party, I was looking
at one of the bands on stageand I looking the guy up there,
I'm like, man, he's justfucking loving life right now, he's looking
out and just like having the timeof his life. If you find it,
if you find that key that makesyou happy, man, you just

(09:46):
keep turning it. That's right. So how do we connect to you guys
on socials on the web? Checkout all your music by your merch because
it's the only way band survived nowadays, all that good stuff. Butterside dot
com has everything be you d DE R S I D E. If
you spell it right, you willfind it all and if not, you

(10:07):
might like find slip into the darkweb. I know, right, any
final words you want to share withour listeners that we haven't covered that they
need to know about Butterside, Idon't even think I'm to edit that out.
That's like just perfect for the interviewright there. If you are hearing
of us for the first time,I recommend going to our YouTube channel or

(10:28):
our Spotify's that's the best way tofall in love with us, because that's
that's where the truth is. AndI want to make a comment that I
just noticed your necklace. They'll guitarpick coin that is badass, Like did
you make it like that? Ordid somebody make it like that? A

(10:48):
friend of mine made it. Allthis stuff basically is stuff that friends have
made nice. I just kind ofkeep collecting it from different friends. But
this guitar our pick, it's ahalf dollar that somebody made into a pick.
Yeah, it's so cool. Iput it around my neck maybe like
five, six, seven years ago, I don't know, and it doesn't

(11:09):
come off. I love it.See, I would me too. I
would probably try to take it andlike come up with a riff with it.
Oh. I have tried to playwith it, but it's a little
difficult, right, Yeah, it'sI mean there are they make metal guitar
picks and certain guitar players use that, but it kind of wears the strings
down really fast. There's a usefor him, for sure, but not

(11:30):
for me personally. I could seeit. If it was me, I
would probably popped the string in liketwo seconds with that. Yeah. More
prone to breaking strings quicker, forsure, no doubt. Well, you
guys rock You've got a rock Rockvillefor sure. And thanks for being here
and thanks for being on the Adventurespipe Man. Thanks for having us.

(11:52):
