PipemanRadio Interviews  If It Bleeds at Bloodstock Open Air 2025.

The Pipeman Radio tour landed at The UK’s biggest independent metal festival featuring not only some of the biggest bands in Heavy Metal and Hard Rock, but also some of the best emerging metal music out of the UK and Europe competing in Metal 2 The Masses for a spot to play on New Blood Stage.  The festival also features The Sophie Lancaster Stage dedicated to the memory of Sophie being brutally beaten and murdered just for being Goth and different.  Sophie’s story particularly resonating with anyone who has been bullied, abused, or attacked for simply being who they are.  The mission of The Sophie Lancaster Foundation is to stamp out prejudice, hatred and intolerance everywhere.  This festival is more than just great music, fun, awareness, and togetherness.  It's a family driven DIY Festival that cares where there ar eno outsiders. We join together for a common cause.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hi, you learn too, Yes, that's sure, w wow crazy young.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe
Man W four c Y Radio and I'm here with.

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Steven from f It Bleeds and Party from f Bleeds.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
You're gonna make them bleed here at Bloodstock, that's.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
The yeah for sure. Hopefully about a bullshit on the
stage here.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
So you guys are here because Metal to the Masses,
so tell us about that journey.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Yeah, so we won Northern Irelands Metal to the Masses
this year and the competition was crazy.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
It was a table one that or today that competition
for sure. Yeah, it was.

Speaker 5 (00:53):
Recently the local scene in Belfast has been popping off
with Lordland general, so it was tough. We really, like
I had no idea each stage, you know, each hate getting.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Through was like whoa holy shit?

Speaker 5 (01:04):
Where if I humbled and were grateful for people to
put grateful to people who put their faith in use
as well, simon.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
So I love hearing that because you know a lot
of bands I interviewed the Rimmelt Masses every year and
it's like the ones that win and get here, it
blows their mind like they didn't even think they.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Had a chance.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Yeah, but thing like you go in there and you
have a lot of tough competition, and how'd it feel
when you knew you were coming here?

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Now, how do you feel?

Speaker 3 (01:34):
It's like a weightlifted?

Speaker 4 (01:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:36):
Yeah, it was crazy because this would be quite a
step up in terms of, like Vendi says, we're used
to playing like I would say, maximum five hundred cups.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
You know we've probably ever played was probably about five
hundred Yeah, yeah, five hundred caps.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
You're talking like a shoe box club sort of vibe
and like a baked top of a festival stage where
you can actually walk around right right, you know what
I mean. So yet a lot of class, so excited,
and they were also like, to tell you the truth,
I'm like half a cent for that. I'm half a
sayd to just be a Bloodstock because we're here for
the weekend. I like, we're gonna have fun. We're also
here as like punters basically.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
So yeah, it was our first ever tam at an
open hour festival.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Really yeah wow well Bloodstock Yeah, well for me it's
my first time ever like one.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Well, this is a great festival to start off with
because I love I do.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Festivals all over the world and I love this one.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Yeah, it's just like one of your top ten.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Oh, no doubt about it.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Oh really Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
The community here, Yeah, it's a true metal festival with
the true metal family as well.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Yeah. Yeah, it's awesome. Luck and all the things they do.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Like you heard before, she was joking about my pink
shirt because yesterday everybody was wearing pink for Sophie Lancaster. Yeah,
and I didn't know it was yesterday. I brought my
pink shirts, but I didn't know it was yesterday. Oh
so I got my pink Sabbath shirt.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yeah, it's rocker like, it's like almost like a highlight.

Speaker 5 (02:56):
Of it is.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Yeah, it's funny.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
I bought it that download, and then I saw the
vendors over here are here.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
At Bloodstock, So that was kind of cool.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
So tell us a little bit about your journey into music,
Like what was both of you have a different story.
What was that one thing that said this is what
I need to do.

Speaker 5 (03:20):
I mean, I don't like, I don't know if it
was one thing, but I guess We've always played the
bands together.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Typically in this band, me and Steven have played in
bands together previously.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Yeah, and they kind of went the ship.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
But me and me ands think have always loved the
heavier sound, the heavier field. We always wanted to do
or to go down the sort of crossover hardcore road.
And I think we met up to go to a
show Coop like Khan funny enough for playing Tomorrow Nice,
and we just sort of give each other the look
and we were like, yeah, let's do this, let's try
and get this started, and the rest is history.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
Like it's crazy, like if you play bands, then you
stop playing bands for a while, but you go to shows,
it makes you really want to get back into a
because you just it sort of makes you remember how
like a high fun of us there's to be on
stage with yourmits, right, like having a good time. So
I think at that particular show that was a wild
show as well. It was just like crowdsurfing that people
were chopping around like it was like a five hundred
cap venue cub Black Han, you know, so.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
It was like it was seriously ready.

Speaker 5 (04:16):
It just made us think like, yeah, we want to
get back involved with the madness. So like that's how
we got things started this time around. But like probably
was saying, like we've been to gathering projects for twelve
or more years and now.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
So see that's cool because you have to be friends
to do this.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Oh yeah, you know it's otherwise it sucks.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
Yeah, I mean, like like things like ability and stuff
comes second in my book.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
But it's always been about just going and enjoying ourselves
and having fun. And if people fuck with it as well,
then you know, happy days. But for us, number one
is get out there red music that we love and
play it and have fun.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
And that's the key right there. You have to love
the music. How are we gonna love it if you
don't love it exactly? And I do see bands like that,
they're up there, I'm looking. I'm like, they don't look
like they're having fun. Ergo I'm not going to have fun.

Speaker 5 (05:02):
Yeah, yeah, that's it. I mean like I'm doing this
for myself before anybody else.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
That's the way.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
Sure, it's a hobby. Degree want to have play musical
with your friends. That's the best fund.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Yeah, it's the way it should be.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
And like you take, like talking about Ozzie like he
was always smiling on the stage. Yeah, like that and
always like that's where he lived.

Speaker 5 (05:21):
He was always just fucking losing it, I mean and
just like being in the moment, I think that was
the look everyone should have, at least from a how
they want they get out of it.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Absolutely, tell everybody how they can reach out to you
on socials, on the web. You got cool ePK, I
haven't let him know how to find out all about you.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
You can reach us on Facebook, Instagram, We're are also
all Carrier Pigeons. Our music's on all major platforms. We're
on YouTube, gets, tru iTunes, Spotify, whatever there is that's
other you'll probably find us on it.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
Our Instagram handle is f Underscore at Underscore bleeds Underscore BC.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
So if that helps, nice, Yeah, we want that.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
And so if you add one thing you would want
to say to all the listeners about your music and
why they should check out your live shows check out
your music, what would it be?

Speaker 4 (06:13):
What personally for me, if we write music that we're
passing about things that we want to talk about, and
I would say it's heavy music for or it's angry
music for people that are angry about whatever's going on
in life, whether it's like personal stuff, whether you're angry
about the way things are going politically, and that that's

(06:34):
my tea on it.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
Yeah, I would say it's discontent, but also if you
want to do some moving, you can move to it
as well.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Nice.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
So from a layer perspective, we'd like to see people
like two stepping and crowd killing all that sort of stuff,
like all that sort of beat down sort of vibe.
But like, yeah, lyrically, it's very much discontent as kind
of our our narrative a lot of the time.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
It's definitely a narrative of the world today for sure.
Oh my god, Like, yeah, who were falling too down?

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Twenty five we would still talk about the same stupid
shit that we did.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Yeah way back in the eighties.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Right, Yeah, yeah, totally. There you go. There's the new
song right there.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Well, thanks a lot for being here at Bloodstock, and
congrats for being here, and thanks for being on the
aventures of pipe Man.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
You got it.

Speaker 6 (07:23):
Michelle Kerr was my press officer for my entire fucking
career here in the UK, my entire career with Machine.
She recently passed away and it was a very very
sad day. And I can tell you the reason that
I'm gonna tell this story because she was family. She

(07:46):
was Bloodstock family. She was heavy metal UK family.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Most of the.

Speaker 6 (07:53):
Bars that you know and love you probably heard of
because of that woman right there. Slip Knots, Slayer, Machinehead,
Trivium Kills which engage, Hey Reed, you name it. She
helped lift everybody up, man. She helped lift everybody up,

(08:14):
and in so many ways, she helped make this entire
music scene, this incredible, beautiful community that lives here at
Bloodstock Man.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
She helped make it.

Speaker 6 (08:25):
So, ladies and gentlemen, please make some noise from Michelle Kerr.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Thank you for listening to the Adventures of plate Man
