On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Matty Mullins, a member of the band Memphis Mayfire, at the Welcome to Rockville festival. Pipeman commends Mullins on his down-to-earth personality and humble nature, noting that it's refreshing to see real people on stage. Mullins expresses his genuine enjoyment of interacting with fans and doing interviews like this, emphasizing the importance of gratitude in his life. He believes that choosing gratitude as a mindset leads to happiness and cherishing the present moment.

They then discuss Memphis Mayfire's latest album, "Remade and Misery," which Mullins claims is their best album yet. He mentions the success they have experienced with it and how it has brought together fans of different age groups and backgrounds. Mullins describes their shows as a place where people who feel like they don't belong anywhere can find a sense of belonging. Pipeman reflects on how metal shows today have a diverse mix of people, which was not as prevalent in the past, and praises the inclusive nature of the metal community.

They also talk about upcoming festivals and tours, including the DWP festivals, and Mullins expresses his excitement for these events. Pipeman mentions his favorite venues at the festivals, such as Daytona Speedway and Shawshank Prison, and the unique experiences they offer. Mullins shares his enthusiasm for performing at these locations and reveals that there are more exciting plans yet to be announced.

Pipeman and Mullins conclude their conversation by discussing the positive energy in the metal and rock genres, countering the misconception that they are associated with negativity or evil. They emphasize the importance of not judging people based on appearances and encourage listeners to get to know individuals before forming opinions about them. Pipeman expresses his admiration for Mullins as both a talented musician and a genuine human being, thanking him for being on the show.

I'm here with Maddy Mullins. What'sup nice Memphis may Fire here at Welcome
to Rockville. You are, likeI just have to say, you're like

(01:11):
one of the nicest guys in fuckingmetal dude, okay, and no reason
not to be. You know, listen, I love it your energy,
Like even before I was watching youwith everybody, and it's like I think
listeners should notice about people that likethey're real people. People up there on
stage are real people, and you'rejust like cool, you know, it's

(01:32):
like no ego, no nothing, just you're like one of the most humble
too, like and what a badassvoice. Oh thank you. I I
genuinely enjoy people. I enjoy presslike I'd love doing stuff like this.
I feel lucky to be in thisenvironment just in general, and so any
opportunity is a is a cool momentfor me. Man. Yeah, and

(01:53):
see that's a great attitude because sometimespress can't be too fun for an artist
like you, especially if you havelike thirty interviews one after another, like,
but your energy still stays the same, and that's what's cool. I
think that the gratitude is the keyto a happy life. Yes, And
when you start to try it andact that way, wake up, choose

(02:14):
gratitude of the morning, that becomesyour natural brain path. Yeah, and
you become a happier person. AndI mean I just I genuinely, from
the bottom of my heart, amexcited to be sitting here doing this interview
with you. You know, Ilove it, and you know you hit
it on a key that's big forme. It's waking up in the morning
like that sets the tone for theday. So if you put yourself in

(02:34):
that mindset from the beginning of day, the rest of the day is so.
Tell us about the new album,Remade in Misery. I mean,
in my opinion, and it's avery strong opinion, I think that this
is the best Memphis may Fire albumof all time. We have had a
lot of success with it. Radiois caught onto it. You know,
our original fan base from way backin the day they love it too,
and it's been so awesome to seethose worlds come together in such a beautiful

(02:59):
way. You know, our showsnow we have fifteen year old girls and
we have fifty five year old guys, and like the crowd gets along name
mix. They're all just thankful forthe music and to be in that environment.
And man, our shows, theyreally feel like a place where people
that don't feel like they belong somewhereall belong somewhere that night, you know,
and it is such a beautiful thing. That's a cool thing about metal

(03:21):
because like everybody's included, and especiallynowadays, like when I was a teenager,
you didn't have this mix of peopleat metal shows that you have now,
like you were just describing, Ithink it's phenomenal. It's so cool,
man. I mean, it's definitelybecoming a thing, and it's just
been like being here today, it'sso wild. It's going to be so
awesome. And see that's a goodthing too. If you're gonna be in

(03:43):
this business, Yeah, you gottahave an energy like you because otherwise it's
no fun. If you're not havingfun, it's I mean, yeah,
I know a lot of guys andsometimes, man, you got you gotta
also remember that, like different people'sanxieties get in the way of them being
able to enjoy things. And yeah, you gotta grace for people that are
struggling with those kind of things. But for me, I'm just trying so
hard to just live in in themoment, be present, stay excited,

(04:06):
like look and actually see what's happeningin front of you because it goes by
in the blink of an eye.Who knows if we ever gets to do
another Rockville again. And it's justit's awesome. It's a cool time.
And meanwhile, you're gonna be doing, as usual a bunch of DWP festivals
this year that I'm gonna catch yourset at every one of the one type
of things. So you'll be atink, you'll be a louder, you'll
be an aftershock. I mean, that's a pretty killer. It's gonna be

(04:29):
so sick, dude. Yeah, excited, Which is your favorite of all
the DWP festivals? That's kind oflike picking a favorite kid, But I
genuinely, if I could, Iwould just be I would tell you straight
up, but I can't. Imean, they're all so special in their
own right, and they're all sopowerful and so massive. It's there's no
way it is true. Because thereare certain things I pick for each festival

(04:51):
like this one, like playing inthe Daytona Speedway. That's I mean,
that's amazing. You know. Iwas telling a lot people this weekend.
Okay, So I have a brotherthat he doesn't give two craps about a
and the festivals that I do.Like if I text them, you know,
pictures or stuff, he doesn't respond. The other night, I text

(05:12):
them, I'm driving on the DaytonaSpeedway. Two seconds He's like, send
picks. Yeah, you know,it's just iconic to be here, man,
it is so cool. Yeah. When they picked me up from my
uber, they drove me around onthe track and yeah, like this is
where you know, like Dale Senior, you know, a bit to dust
and like all this stuff. Thisis so crazy to just be in it,

(05:32):
dude. You know it's wild inperson too, Like it's one thing
looking at it on TV and thenbeing on the track itself. And I
didn't know until today, you know, Like I don't watch a lot of
Nascar. I think it's really rad, but I've just never like devoted my
time to it. But I didn'tknow that the track is so slanted,
like so slant, right, that'swhat everybody's saying. Couldn't even stand on

(05:54):
it if you wanted to, youknow, you fall over. So it's
like, and they're telling me overthere, like you guys to be going
like at least fifty miles an hourotherwise your car will literally topple. So
crazy diss that they're ripping on thatangle. Yeah, I felt the same
thing. I was on there.I have a jeep and I live in
South far So I drove up hereand I was driving on and I'm like,

(06:14):
yeah, I would roll in twoseconds on that hill man. Yeah,
it doesn't even look like that ifyou watch on TV, it just
looks like a normal thing. Andthen it's like you're looking at when you're
standing there, like, holy crap, how are they driving on that?
Yeah? Oh my god. Andthen ink that's another one of my favorite
venues, like Shaws Shank prison.Oh yeah, oh my god, I

(06:36):
me too. So just to bethere will be really iconic, you know,
you know, it's funny. Idon't know if I ever told you,
but like my youngest story, she'salways every festival I'm doing, she's
like, so you excited, andI'm like, I don't know if it
excites a word. I always loveddoing it. It's great and all that.
Yeah, And then one time Iand the first time I did ink,
I called her up. I'm like, I'm sitting in the prison yard

(06:58):
of Shaws sank Now I'm excited.Oh my gosh, I mean like that,
that's like a childhood memory for me, that movie, you know what
I mean, and how powerful itwas, and to be able to be
in that area that's going to bejust a wild experience. Oh yeah,
it's amazing. What else you guysgot going on after this? We've got
the Remade Misery Tour Part two that'shappening July first through the fifteenth. It's

(07:18):
mixed in with some festivals, andthen we've got more festivals, you know,
like we're just talking about the dwF one September October like that kind
of timeframe. And then we havesome stuff that we haven't announced yet.
Oh I can't wait for that.So how do people listening keep connected with
you so that they can get thoseannouncements were on every social so Facebook,
Memphis may Fire, Instagram, Memphismay Fire, Twitter, Memphis may Fire.

(07:40):
You go to Memphis may Fire dotcom to look at shows to buy
tickets, Memphis may Fire. That'swhere you'll find it and you are fire
on stage for sure. Oh,I mean today's our first time. He's
in Pyro. Oh instead of MemphisMay Fire, it's Memphis will Fire.
Oh, I love it. Ican't wait to be there and tell me
the album you think it's your best? Okay, undeniably our best album yet.

(08:01):
Pick a couple elements that make youfeel that way. What is different
about this one than previous ones thatmake you feel good? Well, you
know, like we in the past, we've felt inspired to go in different
directions, and when we've done so, we've gone so far in that direction
that we feel like we lose touchwith fans that have been with us from
the beginning. Yeah, and thisalbum is such a it's such a perfect

(08:24):
mixture of all of the different flavorsof Memphis May Fire. Which we have
our radio songs, we have ourheavy songs, we have our ballads,
you know, like the whole nineis in this record, and so if
I could, like if people weren'tgoing to get tired of it, but
they do, you know, naturally, Like I would tour this record for
five years, you know. Nice, It's been so much fun. The
response is insane. You'll see tonightthat there are songs on our new record

(08:46):
that have a significantly bigger response thanany of our old songs that people really
caught onto. Wow, amazing, dude, really is. I can't wait,
Like you're my last interview, soawesome, I'm ready. I can't
I can't book any interviews during yourset, you know. And the one
thing I really love is talking aboutagain about your energy and how positive you

(09:09):
are. You know. I thinkthere's always a misconception when it comes to
metal and rock and that they hearyou're like on and they think it's supposed
to be something that's evil, bad, negative, the exact opposite. It's
always the opposite. Man. I'vemet people in like, you know,
pop music world that are just soawful, right, and then you know,

(09:33):
like hang out with people that tothe general public they think that they're
like demonic or whatever, and they'rejust the sweetest sweethearts. It's like,
don't judge a book by its coverand get to know somebody. If you're
gonna have an opinion on them, that'd be my advice, you know.
And they definitely need to get toknow you because you are not only an
amazing musician, vocalists, just everythingbut human being. Thank you so much,

(09:58):
and it's an honor. For thatis why I'm so excited you're here
at Welcome to Rockville, and forthat is why I thank you for being
on the Adventures of paint Man Man. Thank you so much for having me.
He always a pleasure, my pleasurealways for me too, and look
forward to seeing a lot more ofyou. All right, let's get it.
