(00:50):
pipe Man W four c Y Radio. And I'm here with you're here with
Auto. You're here with Auto. You're here with yes Auto. Nice.
And I gotta say, best airview of the weekend so far. And
we didn't even start because you guysbrought me some vinyl man and so that
that is worth the whole thing. And I gotta say I was going to

(01:11):
comment about this anyway. I lovealbum artwork, okay, and this artwork
is badass, Okay. I knowyou guys are from Venice. I lived
in Marina del Rey as a teenager. And you know how we did it.
I'm sure you've heard a lot ofstories. You've heard a lot of
stories. You've heard a lot ofstories. Is you went into this place

(01:34):
in the valley called OZ Records, who was owned by Brian Slagel that nobody
knew who he would be today. He was just a store clerk that started
this little label called Metal Blade, and he would come up to us,
go here, check out this album. And you couldn't listen to it like
you can now. You're like, that's freaking badass, and so you would

(02:00):
buy it. And it was alwaysbased on how the album looked, and
I like that, we can openthis up, okay, and for everybody
that's listening, I'm gonna pay avisual. You open this up, and
I look like it looks like I'mlooking at my favorite comic book. Is
what it looks like to me,okay, And this is why it's about

(02:21):
man. An album's like an experience. You'd sit there and you'd open up
the album and you would just liveevery part of that album. So that
was badass. Thanks for bringing methis album, of course, thank you.
So life is a game. Tellus about the new album record.
I mean as far as like, you know, the the idea behind it

(02:45):
was really you know, like movingmoving out of our teenage years, um
kind of becoming more like you know, everyday adults in the world. You
know, he starts to get caughtin the game, you know, society's
game, the fucking rat race, the usual, you know, your everyday
thing. But you know, it'sreally important to you know, be a

(03:05):
part of that. You know,we all contribute to the society. You
know. I think the earth isbeautiful, and but it's important too to
know what you want to do inlife and go chase that for yourself,
you know, like do it foryourself, live for yourself and have fun.
I love it. And you know, it's funny, like no generation
is different with what you just said. It's like when you move out of

(03:27):
those teenage years, it's like, now you can't blame childhood parents and all
this shit on stuff. Now youhave to like kind of think a little
differently maybe, and if you don't, you pay the price and you get
the rewards too. It's true, very true. So what what what happened?

(03:50):
If there was something that started thisband? Like what because you are
all doing different things and then herewe are, So how did that happen?
We started? Uh, well,Brian and I we've been playing music
forever since we were like little kids. We played in a previous band,
kind of a childhood band, andthen we drifted away from that and we
both started like writing more stuff, original stuff, stuff that helped us grow.

(04:15):
That was a little more like outof the box a little more complex
to us at the time because wewere listening to bands like Metallic and Alison
Jeans And that was about like fiveyears ago or so, and we've been
playing ever since. Nice. Youknow, I was at Metallica's first show
ever. What yeah, And that'scrazy in LA What what venue? I

(04:40):
can't even remember, I think,Oh man, I'm and okay, so
I have a story for you. This is a funny story. Okay.
So this dude gets off the stageafterwards, you know, I think I
was like fifteen or whatever, getsoff the stage, comes up, starts
talking to me and my friends,to me this business card and said,

(05:02):
I wish I still had today Metallicapower Metal because there was no thrash yet.
Dave Mustage, whoa had that cardtoday? Oh my gosh, I
didn't even I think I like threwit away, like I didn't know what
was going to be important. Likeback then, you never there was no

(05:23):
band that you like then that youever wanted to get, like big number
one. Like you know, wemy group of friends when Metallica started getting
a little big, we're like fuckingposers. We're not listening to them.
But I still love them today, but that like that's kind of how it
was, you know, so yeah, yeah, yeah, But you know,

(05:46):
it's great to see now today twentytwenty three, that you know,
bands like you guys are keeping thatstuff alive. Because even though I had
that gatekeeper attitude back then of likeoh just play him my local club and
you know, don't go anywhere,I'm so glad that we can have bands
today in twenty twenty three playing Welcometo Rockville like this like you guys did

(06:09):
to the right. It's so coolto have, like, you know,
like this community come together too, because I feel like like the metal and
the rock community is so like artistic, musical and like just so diverse,
you know, and like when weall come together, man, it's so
fucking powerful. Like you could reallyfeel the energy, like you know,
we felt the energy out there today, you know, like and it was

(06:30):
like the first show the day.You know, it's just like dude,
hanging out, stay in loco witheverybody, you know, having fun,
Like that's what it's all about.Like that's what the metal community brings,
you know totally, you know, and it's it's bands like Suicidal that made
that happen. I'm pointing at he'swearing the Suicide shirt for life, and
uh, I remember back in theday, like if you had long hair,

(06:54):
you can go to a punk show. If you had you were punk,
you couldn't go a metal show. And bands like Suicidal brought us together,
you know, Like, and I'mglad because I used to love going
to those shows. But if Iwent to a Suicid show before that thing,
you had long hair, you gotyour ass beat. Yeah, I
was just looking at that. Actually, like before a crossover thrash came together,

(07:15):
it was like beef between the punkkids and the metal kids. It
was like it was just like yousee like a dude with long hair added
like a punk show, then thepunctures like beat his ass. Oh yeah,
and you know it was I alwaysthought it was stupid because our music
was so similar and we were theones day our ass beat by the jocks

(07:38):
in school, so it's like, why not band together together. I remember
one time I went with my twopunk friends this place Posers a Melrose,
I don't know if you've heard it, it's legendary, and we walk in
that's where I was gonna get myspikes and my friends. They knew the
owners, and the owners pulled themaside when we walked in because I had
hair like down to hear and doesn'tknow in my back and and my friends

(08:01):
come over me. We have toleave now. I'm like, I was
like, why we'll talk about Layer, we need to leave right now.
Wow. And so the owners walkedup to him said you better get your
long hair friend out here. We'regonna kick his fucking ass. Dang.
So yeah, So I'm glad tosee. We don't live like that anymore,

(08:24):
stupid. And we're a big family, the whole put punk metal community.
We're a family. And thank godwe could be in place like the
Dayton and Speedway and spread that messagebecause it's needed. You know, the
message, the message you're giving onthis album. Life is a game.
It's a message that people need tohear, you know, especially nowadays.

(08:46):
It kind of it's kind of abummer now in twenty twenty three. The
same things we were talking about inmusic back that in the eighties it is
still going on today. You know, Slayer did all these shows songs about
nuclear war, cold war stops, and now we're talking about nuclear war against
Like, yeah, it's ridiculous nowhow yes, Like you know, propaganda

(09:09):
like always tries to stir the pot, take the distraction off, you know,
all the all the bullshit, yeah, going on behind the curtains and
shit. So what was it liketoday at Welcome to Rockville? Because I
know you probably had a badass crowd, which is not only is that cool,
but it says a lot about youguys, because who comes on the
Friday first thing to a festival unlessener'sa badass band and that was you guys.

(09:35):
So tell us what was like outthere? It was really amazing and
we're super super thankful to play. You know, we we love building a
connection with the crowd. Before ourshow, we were out there just talking
with some of the fans out therejust to build a relationship and because we
want to create the feeling like likewe are a family, because we are,
because we wouldn't be anywhere without supporterslike that to come to the first

(10:00):
show of the day. So itwas just an amazing experience. So it's
really special. And um, youknow, sorry for my technical difficulty.
I played like the first song cleanbecause I like didn't realize my wile was
wide open. But you know,it's like a little special things like that.
You know, it's like, wellmakes a live experience, Yeah,

(10:20):
they makes the show. You know, like watching footage on Hay five six
of Unbroken Wings playing like that's raw. You know, Like I love watching
Hay five six videos and these hardcoreshows. Yeah yeah, man, like
Jesus Piecing all those bands like they'reso raw, you know. Yeah,
like it's it's not a hard hardcoreshow unless there's like something that goes a
little wrong, because like it's controlledchaos, you know. Yeah, and

(10:43):
you know what back in the day, like when ship like that went wrong,
the crowd with cheer and shit likethat's cool. Shit. Like if
you want exactly the studio version, just listen to the album. But live
show is it's about fuck ups exactly. It's it's it's about the feeling that
you, you and the audience create. So so you guys are playing Sonic

(11:07):
too, right, that's right.Oh that's another great one. That's an
iconic one. So you're ready forthat. I'm I'm super ready. It's
it's it's amazing to be able tosee our our band name and on you
know, the Welcome to Rockville andSonic Temple lineups underlike bands like you know,
tool and and Suicidal and and uhIncubis and whatnot. So it's it's

(11:33):
humbling to see and I always say, it blows my mind how a trio
can usually sound like a whole orchestra. Like I always find trios are like
the most talented musicians because the musicthat comes out of it, and you
guys are just the same. Likethe music you're producing, like Slipknot takes

(11:56):
nine people to do and you're doingit with three. Thank you. You
know, it's like to like, you know, like you know, like
everyone's got their different sound. ButI think for us it's really important,
you know, we're all like practicingtogether all the time and just remaining tight
as brothers because like I feel likethe last people too, you gotta,

(12:16):
you know, y'all gotta be brothers. Y'all gotta be tight, tight with
the instruments, you know, tightwith the chops. So yeah, I
think it's kay what you just saidto three people, because when you have
too many people, there's a lotof egos, there's a lot of arguing
within. I think if you're likea family of three, it's pretty easy
to be on the same page absolutely. You know, we've always purposely make

(12:39):
time. You know, we welove to jam when we practice all the
time, but we always set asidetime just to like hang out and and
you know, like do activities, whether it's great, whether it's you to
eat dinner, you'd like to hangout with our dogs, you'd like to
jump in the pool that can goserve. We try to play this game
called blitz Bergade, and sometimes theinternet doesn't really like us that much,
so great, please let us playwith each other because we keep trying to

(13:03):
like play and get in the samegame and we can't friend each other,
so we have to like keep playing, like trying to get in the same
server, and it won't let us. So we need to tell please,
man, please let's get game loft, please, because we love your game.
Yeah, and they're keeping us outof trouble, you know, like
sticking with the video, you know, a little iPhone game after rehearsal.
You know, it keeps us exactlylike we're you know, you know,
we're not out messing around or doinganything. We're just trying to play blitz

(13:26):
Bergade and and and maybe make somefunny videos and jump at the pool and
eat pancakes or something. So whendo you leave this area? We we
leave this era area Era area tomorrow. So because I was asking, because
I was just that's too bad.But maybe if you have time in the

(13:48):
morning. I was designed. Ilive in South Florida now, and I
was designed. I'm gonna wait andlook at my surf app on Sunday.
I'm gonna like, do I gohome Sunday night or do I wait Monday
morning? Like I brought my boardand everything to go to Cocoa on the
way home, because coco it's notfar from here, but that's where Kelly's
from. Yes, yeah, andit's right near here today. It's like

(14:09):
two to three feet fair right now. That's cool. That's cool. So
I saw Kelly Slayer of surfing outon on the West Side in California one
time on Big Wednesday. Uh,he was laughing at my brother's friends because
they kept wiping out. Yeah, yeah, yeah he was. It was
like, you got this, yougot this. He be very supportive of

(14:31):
them. Nice. Yeah, healmost got it. Yeah. I started
my surfing that zooma zoomas where Istarted. Yeah, zooma sweet zooma sweet
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeahyeah. Last week that was fun,

(14:52):
nice fun. We hit yeah,we did, we hit, We hit
County Line and then we hit asunset beach a little bit. Yeah yeah,
I got a bunch of a sightables. Your Your birthday was at Zooma
No was it? Last year wasat Zooma Beach? Nice. Yeah.
We all just kind of chilled andjust kind of surf and had a good
time. You had some pizza, you know, these cookie cakes so good

(15:15):
even I didn't try that at thattime, man, but this this this
year, I got tried. SoI have an idea. I've had this
idea before, Like I covered thepunk festivals in Huntington. They are on
the beach, you know. Yeah, I think a band then you guys
maybe figure out how to do it. Should do one perform at one of
those festivals while surfing, ohoa, like have the stage like set up they

(15:39):
could Yeah, and you guys areperforming like out there. If we line
up the stage like to the leftor the right of the point break like
that could be pretty sick. Youknow. Then it's like you got the
stage like overlooking the ocean with thebackdrop, but then on like right to
the side we got these like rippersjust tearing it up in the waves.

(16:00):
Nice, I love it. Wegotta do with like Juice magazine or something.
Yeah, shout out Juice mag Thedream is to play at the beach.
I really want us to just playat the beach. That's like the
dream, just to play right onthe beach, just on the sand.
It's in front of all the people. Maybe Miami too, you know Miami.
Yeah, closest thing we've gotten todoing that so far as on the
Venice Boardwalk. But yeah, wewant to get on the sand, you

(16:22):
know. But the Venice Boardwalk that'skind of iconic. Absolutely, that's that's
icon absolutely, so it's the heartysoul of Venice. You know, I
don't know if he's still there.I remember when I was hanging out there
all the time, there was thisdude that used to ride around on his
roller blades with a guitar, guitarturban. I still see him around sometimes,

(16:44):
but yeah, I haven't even seenhim much later. Yeah, he's
a legend over there, man.Same with like, do you know Tonan,
he's a neighborhood He's yeah, shoutout ton In. There's so many
legendary and Harry Perry. Yeah,it's that boardwalks field with legends. Yeah,
one day I saw that dude I'mtalking about on a Pepsi commercial.

(17:06):
Oh really years ago. I'm like, holy fun. So I'm glad you
brought up Juice because I've been lookingat your hat. So yeah, not
only can you give them a shoutout, but tell them what juice is
because that's pretty cool. Pools, pipes and punk rock. Yeah yeah,
yeah, dude, Like, um, yeah, I just wore it,
wore it again today, man,Dan, he kind of like made me

(17:27):
this this colorway kind of like personal, which is really special to them.
But man, they're they're like theirfamily to us. We actually auto played
our first show in the Juice livingroom nice and you know there their compounds
on the boardwalk, so you know, like they've just been family and they've
been so supportive and you know wehave nothing but love and thanks to them.
So very cool. So that's whatyou need to do too, is

(17:51):
like perform like from in an emptypool. You know, like back in
the day before you had all thesefancy skate parks, Me and my bros
used to like jump off of roofsinto the empty pools like we'd sneak in
somebody's backyard and climb up on theroof and with our board and jump down
into their empty pool. Classic classic. That's Z Boys style. Man.

(18:15):
There you go. So tell everybodyhow they connect to you guys on socials,
on the web, how they buyyour merch because you definitely have some
cool merch. How they can getthis vinyl like I got because I'm cool
as shit having the auto vinyl, and uh, you know everything else you
want to tell them about that wehaven't covered. Check out the instagram,

(18:37):
auto band on Instagram, on thewebsite, I think it's just auto band
dot com. Then, yeah,we have our merch there. We have
all the stuff there. Upcoming shows, you know, if any tour dates
are in your area, be sureto come out and hang out and talk
to us. We're cool people, you know, we want to connect with
people, so be sure to dothat. Yeah. Man, there's there's
so many stories and inspirations to becaught in this lifetime. You know,

(19:00):

Tude. That's a great attitude. And then um, you can check out
