Yeah, not bad. And what'sit like sitting here in Daytona Speedway doing
(01:29):
a show looking at the stands Hereat Daytona Speedway, you literally get vertigo
because of the stands. It's it'sit's like you're like, oh, look
they have solar We're underneath solar panels. Oh cool, I know, right,
Yeah, it's wild A little solarpanel, maybe little maybe little electric.
(01:49):
They'll do electric cars one year.Yeah, that would be wild,
right crazy, I would be totallycool. I think they should do that,
get superchargers to like pump them reallyfast, no doubt. Yeah,
And did you take a drive orat did you drive on it? Is
that wild or what? That verycool? It's not what you see on
TV like it's it's kind of insane. And then the embankment huge it is,
(02:15):
it's wild. This is a largechunk of land. Yeah, and
they are not kidding. And thesecars are fast, Yes, they are
loud. I have a jeep.I drove around there. I'm like,
man, I would flip on thoseembankments. Dude. Yeah, even going
like one hundred miles an hour. He's still like yeah, yeah, it's
(02:38):
no wonder When you see this,You're like, no wonder, Like,
but man, you guys have beendoing this a long time. Yeah,
what keeps you motivated after all theseyears to write new music? Because you
have new music now? And theywas bidden with a bug when I was
very young to write and be creativemusically, and I am blessed that I
(03:01):
am allowed to continue to do it. I love it. And I have
a new record coming out in Augustwith ten great New Song or ten or
eleven Great News. So I can'tremember how many. It's so many great
new songs, and I'm really stokedfor the audience to hear it. I
can't wait. Oh, I'm totallystoked too, Like I love when ours
(03:22):
had been around for a while writenew music because I'm so in awe.
It's like, man, how dothey do that? Come up with material
after all these years? It likeI sit in that thing hit you wow,
Like that's just amazing. It justhits you. You get creative,
yeah, totally really like you getto be in your bonnet and you just
want to go nuts there you gowrite something cool. So the new album,
(03:46):
what would you say is the same? What's different from previous? Well,
I'm working with this kid named ZachMonowitz. Zach Monowitz was on Instagram
playing some crazy guitar part and Ireach out to him. I damned him
and I said, Yo, I'mRichard Patrick. Would you be interested in
working with me? He responded andsaid yes. He sent me three or
(04:10):
four parts to a song. Iarranged it into like an order that I
could sing over right, and Isang over it that afternoon. And that
song is for the Beating Wow,which is the first song that we released
after you know, a couple ofyears. Wow. And he's like,
(04:32):
he's like, let me get thisstraight. You want to write with me.
I'm like, yeah, I wantto write with you. And he's
like, but I wouldn't have tojoin the band. I'm like, no,
you wouldn't have to join it,just write with me. And it
was really funny. And and whenwe were working on the music, it
was so his guitar playing is socrazy that I was like, dude,
(04:53):
how how are my my live guysgoing to be able to play this?
You know? And he showed ushow, which is wow, which he
uses all kinds of technology. He'slike a little Eddie van Halen of Wow.
New world sounds like new crazy sounds. It's amazing. It was Zach
Monowitz. Wow, you know itis amazing. Arnest like Zach, like,
(05:16):
they're changing the world of rock androll. And I think it's totally
cool of somebody like you that islike evolving with that, because there's the
bands that want to hold on towhat was yeah, and there's the bands
that want to move forward with whatis yeah. So that's cool. Yeah.
The song for the Beaten is likethis crazy sonic departure. But it
(05:43):
still sounds like filter. You know, I'm singing over it. It has
this big, huge chorus, whichI love to write, and yeah,
I'm stoked about it. Nice. It's cool. That's very cool. So
you said about getting the bug?Was there a moment in time that or
something that happened that created that bugor just come in your head? That's
(06:04):
just how I was born. That'susually really really really wanted to do it,
and I just put my mind toit. And I met a friend.
His name was Trent Resiner, andhe had the same motions, a
little guy named Trent Resiner. AndTrent had the same dreams and I did
too, and Trent was like, you know, it was I could tell
(06:29):
that I wasn't really needed to becreative in Nine Inch Nails at the time.
And I split and left and ninetythree and since then we've made up
and we had a reunion September andit was amazing, Like he has out
for five songs Wow. I playedEracer sin Wish gave up. He learned
(06:56):
hey Man Nice Shot, which ismy song wow, and he played Nine
Inch Nails played and learned Hayman theShot, and then we did had like
a hole, and I sang thesecond verse, I've had like a hole.
It wasn't It was amazing that.See now I normally asked story about
a story, and that's the greateststory right there, most of all because
you guys reunited like and squashed whateverwas in the past. Yeah, and
(07:21):
that's see, that's what it's allabout right there. And you know,
we're friends forever, you know, like we went through, we went through
some of the craziest times on theplanet together in the early days of nine
inches, I'm sure, just crazystuff that you can't repeat. Like people
(07:43):
would not believe it. You donot believe some of the crazy shenanigans we
got away with. And like himand I have that forever, you know
what I mean, it will alwaysbe friends because of that. That's way
cool. You know, it's funnybecause I can relate to what you're saying,
because you know, like I tellmy kids stories from way back,
and of course they think I'm fullof crap. And then I was doing
(08:07):
interview the other day with an oldfriend of mine from abandoned the eighties and
we hadn't talked in like thirty fortyyears, and he confirmed this story in
the interview, So I played itfor my kids. I'm like, here's
why my story's confirmed. So that'swhat's cool about it, you know.
And so tell everybody how they canget the new music, how they can
