Hey, you love them too, that's sure from woe. Why wake up
of America. It's time for theAdventures of Pipeman on W four cy dot

(00:25):
com West pom Beats, his numberone internet radio station. Here's your host,
the White Man God. I see, this is the pipe Man here

(00:54):
on the Adventures pipe Man w fortc Y Radio. And I'm here with
Kaylee Wolf of Rivals' Best Jack JoshNice. And you're already like kindred spirit
to me, as I was tellingyou, like, you know, two
months ago, I got rid ofmy blue for a little while, but
you have blue hair, except yourblue hair. See, I like that

(01:17):
color too, like mine was moreturquoise. But I've tried it all.
Yeah, that color didn't necessarily workas well on me like it does on
you. You have to get itreally blonde. Like for some reason,
this color blue just does not stickto anything but blonde. And I have
gray, which the color the fantasycolors don't stick to that at all.

(01:37):
So I'm like, actually, I'vebeen doing so many years that I'm like
an expert on which to use andstuff like that, because you know,
you want it to stand more thana couple of days. Yes, literally,
yes, my hair wouldn't touch waterfor like a week. That's the
best way to do it. I'llprobably wash my hair once a week.
Yeah, maybebe twice if if wejust sweat a lot, which in a

(01:59):
summer on tour it's kind of expected, but totally And I try those uh
you know, the color ones, the ones I have a color and never
really did anything. I thought itwas like a waste. It just messed
up my bathroom there. Yeah, yes, literally, So tell us about
Rivals. Yeah, we're like analternative rock bands. I guess you could

(02:23):
call it. We're from la Umdark pop, alternative rock, some metal
moments and stuff, but um,yeah, we're from Los Angeles. We
kind of live all over now thoughwe're Nashville, Florida fucking everywhere, well
part of Florida, same Pete.Oh nice. So did you just get

(02:45):
to drive over here? I wish. Yeah. Yeah, we're actually on
tour with set it off right now, so we had to we had to
be line back to Florida. Wewere just in Florida last week too,
So well, I'm glad you guysare in Florida because so many bands like
to miss our state. I livehere and it is a drag. Especially
I'm in South Florida, so it'sa drag. You guys come all the

(03:06):
way down and then go all theway back up. Yeah, to hit
essentially one city. So it's likeI from like a touring logistics I get
it, but from like a familylike side, it's like it does suck.
So like you guys are kind ofexpected to come to like Orlando or
Tampa to get a show, whichis unfortunate exactly. But I will say
Tampa has some of the best venues, Like, yeah, I Saint Pete's

(03:29):
Janis is pretty lit too nice.I love it there, even like it's
like as media, I get treatedbetter in Tampa than I do in West
Palm, and West Palm's my home. It's like everybody's got ego there.
You go to these venues and yougot these like gatekeepers. Like one time
I literally had to text the bandI just interviewed to come out and tell

(03:50):
the guy to let me in.Yeah, West I had a media pass.
Yeah. It sounds like La,right, And I grew up in
La in the eighties, Okay, and it wasn't like that then. It
was anything goes then. Yeah,I think so I went to like the
first Metallica show ever, the firstSlayer show ever. That eighties, my

(04:15):
first club show on the Sunset Strip, which was my first club show ever.
I was like, I'm never goingto a real concert ever again.
It was Motley Crue before they evenhad an album, so they weren't glam
yet. They were horror punk inYeah, they were trying to light the
Roxy on fire. I was gonnasay, what was it was the Whiskey
or the Roxy or yeah, itwas the Roxy. And then we all

(04:38):
went over to Rainbow. And nowwhen I go to Rainbow now, I'm
like how I was like fifteen andsixteen and fourteen and thirteen, I'm like,
how the fuck did I get intothe Rainbow? But you just walked
in with the bands? That's whatI mean. Like it wasn't like back
then. It was like it didn'tmatter. You know, you did whatever,

(04:58):
everybody did whatever it was. It'slike anything goes, you know.
It was. It was kind ofcrazy. Are you from? I lived
in Aguera, thousand Oaks, WestLank and Marina del Rey. Okay,
yeah, well I went to AgueraHigh before anybody. No new Way Guerra
was yeah before there was a CanyonClub. Yeah, like I wish there
was a Canyon Club. Well,I was a teenager. I had to

(05:20):
go down to Sunset Strip or theTroubadour or down to Pasadena or like there
was a famous venue in Racida inthe valley called the Country Club. No,
yeah, all the bands played there. As a matter of fact,
I knocked my teeth out on astage dive at the country Club. Yeah.
It was funny because the band Iwas there for. They they just

(05:43):
came out with a new album afterlike thirty thirty five years. Oh my
god, are they They have tobe dead now? You would think why
it was years ago? I know, right, literally the eighties was forty
three years ago. Can you believethat? I can't believe it. Yeah,
if there were thirty band for thirtyyears already before that, No,
no, no, no there.No. They came out recently with so

(06:06):
they were big. They were bigin lay back then, like they toured
with Motorhead, but they never madeit, you know. So I interviewed
them recently because they have a newalbum out. Yeah, and I was
friends with them. I even likeused to roadie for him and stuff.
And I'm like let's haven't talked toyou in like thirty four years. You
probably wouldn't remember me by name, but I'm the one that knocked my teeth

(06:27):
out at your show. I wasstage dive. He's like, oh man,
I was wondering what happened you? That was like, you know,
I felt really bad because it waslike somebody died at one of our shows.
It was what it was like.He goes, you were the most
severe casualty of La metal in hisand I'm like, I'll take that badge.

(06:48):
Like now, I'll take it.Maybe back then i'd be like,
oh that stuck. And then andthen my bro, he was like,
who was there with me? Thenhe is like, yeah, you definitely
got the most hardcore ward because twoweeks later your your nose was all busted

(07:09):
up, your face was taped up, and you showed up to the Venom
show. Oh my, So herewe are at Welcome to Rockville with you
guys. And here we are Floridaand you guys are going to rock this
place. You're really excited. Hhave we ever played a festival in Florida?
I don't think we have. Isour first Florida? I know,
well, breaking our cherry. It'sprobably gonna have to take this off after

(07:31):
like ten seconds into the songs. You know, you think that, But
I have this unarching or extreme aptitudeto heat. I can wear a full
coat and be fine. So we'reall you Florida people. She's wearing a
long sleeved shirt. It's a buttonup and uh yeah, I mean I

(07:53):
permanently wear shorts. Now, didI live in Florida? Yeah, Like
pantstone exist in Florida. I havemy winter shorts in my summer shorts,
spring shorts. Come on, there'sno spring in Florida. We have two
seasons hot and hot. Yeah, hot and humid hot. We have like
four days of winter, I know, right. And it's funny though,

(08:16):
because I come from originally like NewYork and New Jersey, so I'm used
to winner. But it's funny.Wink gets forty here, it's freaking freezing.
Like I can wear a T shirtin forty degrees in New Jersey.
Here I am wearing a jacket. It's cold. It's that wetness in the
air. Yeah, it makes ita freezing like four days. I was
like, holy shit, Like thisis not Florida. I think maybe every

(08:39):
band as training to be a bandplaying live outside at festivals should always start
their training in Florida because if youcan hack it here, you can hack
it anywhere. Yoga and jap jumparound with your guitar though though, So
tell our listeners, uh, youknow what else you got going on after

(09:01):
this, and what stuff they needto check out and yeah, good stuff.
So yeah, we we are actuallycurrently writing a record. Um.
We put out a record during COVID, which was the weirdest thing in the
world. I love that, youknow, everyone do it much respect because
we did it. That's when weneeded music. Most music is therapy and

(09:22):
yeah, like no live music, and then you're telling bands not yeah,
yeah, no wonder everybody was pissed. Our label at the time kept telling
us. We were like, Idon't think we should do it, Like
we should wait, and I waslike, we have to put out a
record. It's been three years,Like, we have to put out a
record. We need to put outsomething. So we ended up slow releasing
it over like six months. Sowe just slowly put out singles and stuff,

(09:45):
um and hoping that COVID would endright so we could tour. And
then it was it was March oftwenty twenty one, and I was like,
we just got to we ought tojust put it out, like there's
I don't know when this is gonnaend, so fuck it. Um.
But now we're running another one.So we're coming upon another three years again
because it seems to be our cycle. I don't know why, it just
happens that way. Um. Andyeah, so the goals literally this year

(10:09):
is just right right right right right. We just put out a brand new
single called man eater Um, whichis my favorite song I think we've ever
written. It's got a choir Ilove. I've always wanted to do that,
so cool. Yeah, so I'mreally hYP hyped about it. So,
um, what do you got goingon, Josh, I'm feeling really
I'm feeling really fresh right now becauseyou know, you know, it's a

(10:35):
nice breeze, so yeah, Imean managers out right now. I'm stoked
on it. Um. I can'twait to see what's gonna come out next
because we've been writing a lot ofreally really cool jams over these last few
months, and um, I'm justreally excited to see what everyone's gonna think
about the new stuff. And I'mjust really excited to being here. Honestly,
like Slipnots playing today, That's oneof my favorite bands of all time.

(10:56):
Literally, Conversion is like playing rightafter us. That's literally my other
you make it. We're just talkingabout this other day. Like we grew
up listening to some of these bandsin high school, were about the same
age, and it's just like sosurreal for for all of us. I
think to really just be here todayand I'm just really stoved. So do
you see me smiling? That's justme. I'm just here for the catering.
Is it good? It's pretty good? Yeah, they had lemon bars

(11:18):
in there. Whoa trip coffee?Because that's my favorite part about it can
be a hidden or miss, butDanny Wimmer knows how to put on Oh
yeah he does. You know he'sHe's a satan sent from if there is
a heaven. I was at one. I was at one festival where the
band had to go through general admissionto get the catering, and I'm like,

(11:39):
what, what the fuck? Whatthe fuck is that? I know?
Right, like, if I wasthe artist, I probably wouldn't want
to eat um. I just wantedto say how pumped time to be at
the Daytona Speedway, right, likeI live, I still live in La

(12:00):
No one still lives, no Way, and like we I never even thought
that I would come here unless itwas for a race track kind of thing,
and like getting to drive on therace track to come over here was
like, I'm sure that's the firsttime. Hopefully it's the first time you
hear today. But I was likeshaking bake just once. I did it
nice. You know. It's funnybecause I just did mention the last interview

(12:22):
that I have a brother. Everytime I talked about the festivals, he
could care less. But last crazy. But last night I said, I'm
driving on the Daytona Speedway and it'slike send a pick that I knew what
it would take. Yeah, that'swhat it take. I'm like, ha
ha, you could have been here. Yeah. I'm like, ha ha,
you could have been here driving onthe Daytona Speedway. So I literally

(12:43):
I texted my dad and I waslike, guess where I am And He's
like where And I was like,I'm literally at the Indie or five Hundie
Indie. I literally texted him.I was like, this is where dal
Earnhard died. And he goes noway, and he's like, send me
picks. I was like, okay, So I started sending him the videos
of everything and he's like, thatis so cool. And I grew up
going to races with my dad,so it's kind of a cool little it's

(13:05):
a cool perspective to be in andand see how much that embankment goes up
a post from the stands that anglelike sixty degrees And I was saying,
I have a jeep, like I'mlike, oh, I'm gonna roll.
Yeah, I guess enough speed.Plus it's kind of wild, especially this
being the first time I've ever beenhere to see all the in nerds,

(13:26):
like all the inside stuff, becauselike, yeah, we went past the
pit stop thing. Yeah, it'sdifferent from the crowd, like you see
those stands. It's wild, Likeit's you could be you know, one
hundred feet in the air and you'relooking everything like a speck, but like,
no, we're like in the pit. Okay, So I have some
I guess a trivia question for you. See all those seats up there,

(13:46):
Why are those seats different than otherseats? Why are they all different colors?
Is that because that's the bengo Likeif you look on TV. You
can't tell, you can't tell.Yeah, it looks like the place is
full trickery. Kind of random aboutthat. Um, I was on a

(14:11):
movie set once where they used toblow up people to fill the stands,
like sex. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it kind of like that.
It was for one of the Chipmunks. Actually extras. They had to use
sex. They don't have to pay. Yeah, you don't have to blow
up dolls. Yeah. Valid.I think that's why that's why people use
the blow up sex dolls to Theydon't have to pay them either. That's

(14:33):
pretty sure. Yeah, they alwayslook surprised. Oh one's gonna go missing
its out the door walking with itin his arm. Oh that's great.
You know, it is funny toyour mentioned the venue because Danny Wimmer has
some cool venues, like in Julyit is incarceration. Yeah, we played
that a couple of years back.It was so cool. I think I

(14:56):
remember when you played that, Andyou know, it's it's interesting too because
my youngest are sometimes I'll bring herto festivals and and every time I do
a festival, because I go andI do all of them all over the
US and UK and Europe, andshe's like, she's like, are you
excited, And I'm like, Idon't know if excited it's the word when

(15:16):
you're doing it every weekend. Butthen when I did shaw Shank for the
first time, that was cool andI was like, I called her up.
I was I'm like, now I'mexcited. I'm calling you from the
prison yard of Shawshank. That wasreally cool. I like that. It
was so funny. One morning,I was taking a picture and there was

(15:39):
this other artists. They're taking pictureand he goes, hey, can you
take my picture? I'll take yours. He goes, look at us.
We're fanboying out on shaw Shank prison. There's all these cool bands around and
you guys are like, oh,look exactly. Oh man, I got
one section where, like I thinka Sylvester Stallone movie was filmed there too,
and they still have all the paddingfor the fake doors or the fake

(16:02):
oh yeah, yeah. The guywas showing us in the prison during we
were like walking around. There wasa fake part of the stairway where Sylvester
salone like did an action scene. And there was a fake doorway too that
you can punch through too that Idon't know. They were just filmed it
there, but they were like showingit off to everyone. Well that was
a great, great little kind ofextract. Like last year, I was
hiding and scaring people as they weregoing by, because you know it is

(16:26):
it is that actual prison is haunted. Yeah, so I was playing that
up really good. Might as wellsaying that they for Halloween they like do
a haunted thing and they have itat the festival too. It's usually in
the basement. It's called Blood Prison. Yeah, but it really is haunted,
So like you don't know if it'sthe haunted attraction or a real haunt.

(16:52):
Yeah right. Yeah. There's alsoa place in the prison that if
you take a picture, it's afelony. Really why because it's a window
that you can see right down tothe other prison and so you could be
planning somebody's escape from there. Wow. Yeah, So no selfies, no

(17:14):
shit. So how's everybody connect toyou guys and socials on the web?
Check out all your stuff and buyyour merch because that's the only way bands
survived. Yes, it's literally theonly way we survive. Um. Yeah,
everything is we are our vls. It's we are rivals, rivals without
the vowels are literally our Twitter,Instagram, YouTube are even our website is
we are r vls dot com.Check out our new single man eater.

(17:36):
Yes it is badass, so thankyou. And if they don't check it
out and they don't buy your merch, they can't listen to my show anymore.
Perfect Bye. Oh any final wordsanybody want to say before let you
go shaking? Bake Cacha little tenounce for pound baby Jesus the margic Man

(17:59):
just all freaking That was the bestfinal words ever. Like you guys were
like just playing the role perfectly.I love it. That movie is great.
We should watch it tonight. Okay, there we go. You got
the plan for tonight after slipnot Iknow everyone else's partying. We'll be watching
Talladega nights if you need us.So see that's the thing I'm also I
just want to say, did youknow there's a facility in Norway that Oria

(18:22):
has built a doomsday vault for therecipe in there of Oreo? Who I
go? There that's the next stepfact for today. Well, thank you
