(00:04):
Hey, do you love them too? Yes, that's sure. From Why
You Wake Up of America, it'stime for the Adventures of Pipe Man on
W four cy dot com West pomBeats his number one internet radio station.
(00:28):
Here's your host, the White Man. This is the pipe Man here on
(00:54):
the Adventures pipe Man W four cY Radio. And I'm here with Silly
Goose. That's us. Thank youfor having us. Nice. So,
the last time we talked, likeyou weren't really necessarily a Danny Wimmer festival
official band, you know, yeah, you can kind of work because that
(01:15):
you've died after in right, yeah, right around that time. Yeah,
we had we had done that onefestival, but it wasn't like legit yet.
But I'm hoping. I think we'reall we're all hoping that, uh,
it's gonna be an every year typeof thing. But um, yeah,
I guess we're a Yeah. Iwas just telling the band before.
You never tell the story about howyou're here playing at Welcome to Rockville,
(01:37):
and I have to repeat it becauseit's pretty fucking badass. Like listen,
I'm from old school and that wasan old school move that you guys pulled.
That doesn't go on anymore and astotal rock and roll. Do you
want to tell a story or youwant me to tell a story? Um?
Either either or I can start tellingit there your way, and then
(01:59):
if I forget it, I knowit's me in the story. But if
I forget, like jump in andcorrect me. But I think right around
that or oh all they closer,my bad? Um. Yeah. We
we played outside of the Festival ofIncarceration and um we yeah, we just
played like in the parking lot aseveryone was coming out. Well wait that
(02:22):
you crashed. Oh yeah, wecrashed. We were not supposed to be
there, ye into the parking lotset. Yeah. So yeah, it
was it had a potential to gogreat, which it did, or it
had a potential to land us injail. You never know. Um,
but luckily it worked out and uh, Danny had us coming to the festival
(02:43):
that day or then the next dayand play at INK and then they added
us so Louder than Life and thenuh, now it's a year later and
we're here at Welcome to Rockville. And that's kind of how we we started
our our relationship with DWP. Abit unusual, but we're happy it worked
out. And you know when whenDanny's walking up to you guys in the
parking lot, you gotta be thinkingyourself, Uh, we're fucked, To
(03:08):
be completely honest with you, wedidn't know who was right. I knew
he was somewhat important because I couldsee I saw he had a walkie talkie
and like, so I knew hewas some sort of festival staff. But
it wasn't until he approached Tyler uhand and explained who he was. And
then I was in the middle ofselling shirts like this was after we played,
(03:30):
and of course, like at thattime, that's my main priority,
like I'm not like, we're tryingto make money so we can eat,
uh, And then Tyler came over. It was like like the and we
had just met Tyler at the time, so um, Tyler was like,
Danny Wimmer, the guy who runsthe festival wants to like put talk to
us. And I was like okay, okay, like like like after I
(03:50):
sell these shirts and then I'm sohappy. Tyler was persistent and and got
me to stop selling shirts. Uhyeah, because because here we are.
And then after that day I knewwho Danny Wimmer was. I made sure
I knew I should hope so yeah, and you were even on that day,
you were on a twitch thing.Uh yeah. So that was that
(04:12):
was like Saturday night or something. And then they they the next day Sunday,
they had us come play, andthat whole thing was so hectic because
that was like we we found outwe were playing, I think like forty
five minutes before we even come fromthe stage, and we were running around
and it was just the most chaotic, crazy awesome thing ever. Um.
(04:34):
Yeah. And then and then rightafter our set, either right after right
before we had that that interview, and if you go watch the interview,
I none of us had any sleepthe night before, and I'm just like
the I'm and I'm like freaking outby what's happening. And you just see
me like smiling and laughing the wholevideo. Um. So yeah. So
(04:55):
I got asked too. Okay,so family and friends when you going and
crashing this festival, there had tobe a bunch of them They're like,
don't do it. Well, youyour mind, You're gonna go to jail
there. There definitely is that.By that point, we had a we
had already done it a few timesthough we had uh, we had traveled
(05:17):
and played outside of places a lot, so uh it. But yeah,
it always gets the like what areyou doing from from our family? But
now they're now our families are allused to it um. But hopefully we
won't have to do that much longer. I think we might be wrapping up
the trailer shows. Yeah, thetrailer tourist, Yeah, I think the
(05:38):
right right. And then when thathappens with Danny Wimmer, now you're telling
those same people that maybe you know, we're not on board with the crash,
and they're probably like, yeah, right, then believe in the next
thing. You know, you're playingand you're on on Louder and then you're
here at Welcome to Rockville and theyget the ill eat their words, the
(05:59):
negat Yeah, that's what I love. It's been crazy. It's it's been
really cool. And the lesson thereis, man, you just do you
and if you have the passion forsomething and you want and that's what you
want to do, you gotta gofor all the way balls out, you
know, and that's the only wayyou get here for sure for sure.
(06:21):
Yeah, if we had played bythe rules, we would still be in
in our in our garage, that'sright. Say look at that, so
what else you got going on afterRockville? So well, let me since
then, but before before Rockville, like leading up until now, like after
that whole thing in Ink, likewe played Ink last year, we played
louder Um and then like we didn'thear from Danny for a minute, or
(06:46):
we didn't hear from some from somepeople, and we were like, we're
silly, Goose, We're still fuckinghere. We're gonna keep grinding with or
without the industry. So we wentout and we followed Highly Suspect for about
three months. We drove across thewhole country twice. We followed Highly Suspects,
spirit Box and UM and and bathFlower and UM. Yeah. We
(07:10):
we lived in my truck for forthree months and we spent thousands of dollars
on gasoline and only had a Tshirt sales to power it. And then
a Highly Suspect had us come inone day and open for them. Um.
And then after you were stalking theirshows. Yeah, yeah, play
inside. Those guys were so coolthe whole rest of my career. I
(07:32):
will always be um talking positively ofthem. They were just so so nice
and supportive of what we were doing. By the end of the tour,
we had like uh like all accesspasses, like we were supposed to be
on the tour. Um, sowe we had that going and then um,
we we became like we became orI became friends. We became friends
(07:54):
with this band that I I grewup like listening to. And then there's
been a lot of those moments recentlywhere like I've got numbers or I've become
friends with people that like I wouldhave never thought and it's been really cool.
Um. But but yeah, wedid that, and then, um,
(08:15):
what what other big thing happened beforethis? A few big thing?
We Oh, we had this TikTokvideo go viral for whatever whatever that means.
Um, but it did get alot of people talking about us.
The one where they were trying toarrest you. No no, that was
one of that. That one gotlike one hundred two hundred thousand views.
Uh. We did one where weplayed inside of a subway like the restaurant
(08:39):
and uh that all of a suddenthat had like five million views. And
now there's people in in like Chinaand different countries like hey, when are
you gonna come play? Like andwe're like, we didn't even know like
that people knew us over there. So yeah, we had that, and
then we played in a in awaffle house, uh last week, and
that one has been that video hasbeen going around. Um. Definitely not
(09:03):
trying to be just a TikTok bandbecause I think we all think that's a
little corny um, but it doeswork to get your name out there.
Yeah. Um, So we've beendoing stuff on the internet, like to
try and go viral and get ourname out there to new people and then
hopefully they they that gets their attention, but then they see the work we
put in and like, oh,this is a this is a real band.
So waffle House yeah, well thatone's funny. Waffle House was last
(09:26):
weekend, and then tomorrow night willbe Cracker Barrel. And I'm not joking,
by the way. Tomorrow night isCracker Barrel. You should play it
in the rocking chairs. Oh yes, yeah of course. And then Saturday
night tonight, sir Thurs Yah,Saturday to night is Bucky's. So we'll
see, we'll see how we're justgonna show up. So maybe you'll become
like the waffle House band, youknow. That's what we don't want,
(09:52):
that's what we don't want, butbut it is fun playing in waffle house
though. It's really easy. Allyou have to do is just ask the
employees and then if they say no, then you just go to the next
waffle house and ask them, andthen your three waffle houses in and all
of a sudden you're playing. Well, now you have to move up to
like I Hop and Denny's. Yeah, yeah, oh yeah. People people
love to compar us to the DennyWhat the fuck's up Denny's? So how
(10:18):
do our listeners connect with the onsocials? Buy your merch because that's the
only way that bands survive and foryou guys, that's the only way you
get to crash all these shows forsure. So so everyone can look us
up on Spotify and Apple Music.Um, just look up Silly Goose and
then we're on Instagram and Facebook. We do most of our our promotion and
(10:39):
like telling people what's going on throughInstagram and that is Silly Goose at l
And then if you hit the linkin our bio you can go check out
all there's a link to like ourmusic and our website and you can buy
t shirts online and uh, wegot some pretty cool merch. So if
you're listening to this at home,go buy a silly goose shirt or a
(11:00):
hat. You know, it's alsopretty funny. I don't know if you
remember this, but at Ink,before it even happened with you, we
had these annoying geese. Yeah,I remember that, and so it was
like so funny. When this allhappened, it's like, wow, that's
(11:20):
really weird. Yeah, yeah, because that that was because I remember exactly
what you're talking about. There wasthe interview area just like this, and
there was the pond in the inthe back corn and the geese where were
they like violent or they kept comingup, they kept breaking funny if the
geese were like angry, um,but yeah, and then and then there
was us that that same that sameweekend. That would have been cool if
(11:43):
like you brought the geese up onstage. They could be your like that
could be your next new thing,Like you just have geese with you on
stage. Tyler, what do youthink of that idea? I think they
might get a little angry with usand try to bite us, but that
would be so punk rock. Idon't know what's the i'm all organization and
(12:03):
the ASPCA. Yeah, yeah,I don't think they would like it,
um, but it would be itwould be interesting. Yeah, well you
can have like the mascot. Yeahyeah, in fact, that's what you
need to do too. Maybe oneday you could be like some of the
bands that dress up in customs andyou could all just be dress up as
(12:24):
geese. I I will I Iwill think on your idea. I will
think on it. It's not aserious idea, Okay, Well what I
would like? I don't know ifI would dressed out of a go dress
go on stage dressed as a goose, but I I think it would be
cool if we had someone who ranout who was a goose, and different
(12:46):
animals that ran out through throughout theset. That would be cool. Or
you could have a bunch of peoplethat you know, are dressing up as
geese and they do a mosh pitthat's like duck duck. Oh man,
you got some good ideas. Ilike it. I don't know. They're
pretty fucking stupid, but you know, listen, don't get don't give me
(13:09):
a mic. Okay, who didthat? Uh you you did that?
Yeah, fucking idiot? And didthat? Uh so you guys played here?
How was it playing at Rockville? In the Daytona Speedway. It was
awesome. It was really cool gettinghere and then all of a sudden,
my my truck is on driving ona race track. Right, that was
(13:31):
cool? Um, it was.It was an interesting set. It was
a lot of fun, and itwas one of the biggest crowds we've ever
played too. Of course, Um, I have learned a new lesson,
and that is to not put sunscreenon my face before oh yeah, going
on stage, because I thought Iwas using sunscreen that would not bleed or
(13:52):
whatever it's called tear your eyes.So my eyes were like red and I
couldn't see anything for half to set. Um. But other than the excruciating
burning pain in my eyes, itwas a lot of fun. Well that's
rock and roll right there. Okay, Like listen, you're not going through
that shit. Yeah, now Iknow not to do that exactly. Put
(14:13):
on sunscreen exactly. Next time you'llwon't put on sunscreen. You'll be burnt
as fuck. Yeah, yeah, you'll have to do the next show all
burnt. Because I had it onmy face and you know, I had
it up on my forehead and thenI started sweating and it like bleeds happened
in interviews where my eyes were tearingthe whole interview. I don't, I
(14:33):
don't. Yeah, yeah, wellyou get I can't it just like you,
I can't like stop the interview.Oh sorry, you know, like
I get the sunscreen in my eyes. You can't stop the set. You
just gotta can't stop the set forfor sunscreen in the in the eyes.
So it could be worse though, because it was a lot of fun.
Though it's a it's a learning experience. Well, I've asked a question like,
(14:54):
if you tell one story good orbad to like bands, I've been
around a while, what woul be? Three times I've gotten the answer when
I ship myself on stage. Soso there, so there you go.
Some times you've got what do youlike? They? They are you being
literally? They know they literally theyliterally ship their pants on stage and then
(15:16):
you gotta keep playing. I haven'thad that. I can't relate to that
I've had. I always seem likeI have to go to the bathroom right
before we play, and it's alwaysthe worst timing. Never, Um,
I haven't had that happen yet.I'm I'm hoping that that doesn't happen to
see. So that's a lot worsethan the sunscreen, right, and make
you feel make you feel better now, right. I feel like in that
(15:39):
situation, or maybe let me thinkabout this, I feel like I would
almost just tell the crowd and startand like what had happened and just start
laughing. I totally tell them,Yeah, how comedic the situation was.
It's like, Okay, so II just interview recently because it was the
fourth anniversary of the US Festival, which was in ninth eighty three. I
(16:00):
was at that festival and it waslike supposed to be to Woodstock of the
eighties and heavy Metal day. Theyhad like genre days. Heavy mel Day
had more than any of the otherdays combine. There was like three hundred
thousand people that they could count, but they couldn't cut play, No,
they didn't. But but it wasit was quiet, Riot, Motley Crewe,
(16:23):
Judas, Priest, Azzie Triumph Umvan Halen was the headliner, Okay,
And so that was what I wasgetting to his So there's like a
sea of people, like artists thatwere up on stage. They couldn't see
the end of the crowd, that'show big the crowd was. And they're
(16:44):
playing in talking about love and he'slooking over at Dave because he's not singing,
and then David Lee Roth just goes, I fucking forgot the words,
and the whole crowd like roared likeit was the best thing that ever happened.
And he really did forget the word. I've had that album before it
too, So you just gotta playit off like yeah, you gotta play
it off like it's there's not supposedto be words there, or just tell
(17:07):
them what had happened, um now, because you know how to handle hecklers.
Oh yeah, fuck you get it. I don't know if I'm allowed
to curse on here, but yeah, but tell the fuck off and get
out of here. So David Leebrought that same night to some guy heckled
them, and he over to MicHe's like, I will fuck your girlfriend
(17:29):
today. There was I don't knowif you guys saw it or heard me
say it for in our song inmy head. I like in the bridge,
I got everyone to get down tothe ground and then like when it
kicks in, everyone jumps up.There was one dude, I don't I
don't know if y'all saw this.He was standing out there and he was
like, no, I'm not gettingdown. He was giving me the finger
and he was like he was reallypissed off. And I said, I
(17:49):
see you giving me the finger, fuck you motherfucker, And oh man,
that's nice. So that that wasfun that that I enjoyed that moment.
I love that too. Yeah,I was. It's a lot a show
once where because it's like, whatare you gonna get out of doing?
Like, why are you gotta bean ass? Yeah, Like, I'm
just gonna make you look bad. It's hard enough you getting up there and
(18:10):
doing this on stage in front ofan old crowd of people. Why are
you gonna fucking do that? Show? Like it's like people in media that
always try a shock jock artists likeour job is to promote you, not
to make you look better, right, And and they're no. But I
will say there's things that definitely likeh and I think maybe all of us
can agree with this. There's thingsthat like, like, we're all human,
(18:33):
there's things that can get under ourskin or bother us or make us
feel self conscious about like how peoplereact to things. But when there's someone
in the crowd like that dude, that just made me happy to see it
like that didn't even make me angry. Um, yeah, because publicly humiliating
people who are trying to embarrass me, and he makes you look better,
it makes himself look stupid, youknow, Like, so hey, there
(18:56):
it is, you know, andso now you know, next time,
just tell him you're gonna fuck hisgirlfriend. Yeah, I will say,
I'll say that next time. I'dprobably say so. Next time I'll probably
get too carried away and then saysomething that I'll have to apologize for.
But so I think I'll keep itout just to fuck you. I was
at a show and I can't remember. I think it was Slipknot. I
(19:21):
can't remember if it was slipped onor Stone sur but I'm pretty sure it
was Slipknot. And somebody was rightup front and they were on their phone
and Corey Taylor just walked up andslapped the phone. Dude, I need
to do that next show. Notthat, but like if someone I'm gonna
go to the barrack up to thebarricade, you just gave me a good
idea. No, but like Iwould have done that today. It doesn't
(19:44):
matter. Like I know, we'reone of the smaller band, the smallest
band on the bill. Or oneof them. I will go to the
barricade and if there's someone on theirphone right in front of me and they
don't even realize I'm there, I'mtaking their phone and I'm throwing it as
far as I can nice and they'redoing and their phone can crowd surf,
yeah, or they're fucking fly fora brief moment. What do you think
of my Is my idea a littletoo a little too hard? I think
(20:07):
it's funny, but I think it'sfunny too. I mean, I think
it's funny, but you better makea lot more money first, because you're
gonna have to pay for in casewe've got to replace it or something.
You know, you never know whatmight happen, So let's make sure we
got a little bit of money savedup first. What do we have to
replace it? I don't. Imean, what you're saying makes sense,
but something in my head is liketelling me, like, no, there's
(20:27):
no way we'd have to pay forthat. Yeah, But like imagine if
like if they're talking to like somebodywho's dying and it's like a relative,
and like they have to be ontheir phone. Man, No, no,
no, no, no, no, that that they are not going
to be barricade at a music festival. If they get on the phone and
someone's dying, they are leaving thebarricade. They're not like, hold on,
(20:49):
sorry, But I don't know. The only way I could see that
backfiring is if I threw it andit hits someone on the head and then
they were uncondon chis that would bebad. But other than that died.
Yeah, yeah, so maybe Iwon't do that. Maybe we I'm glad
we talked through it and we figuredout the consequences. Um or we just
(21:11):
take it on stage and they getit back at the end of the set.
You know. There, this isn'tI'm not a teacher, this isn't
a classroom exactly there. Oh man, I think there. There's one show
I was at that they literally didcollect phones and like the band required tool
(21:32):
does that? Yeah, that's whatour friend Ian was telling me. Yeah,
that is what who it is.Yea, So be careful. That
might happen this weekend. Yeah,I don't think. Well, I don't
know or if we got or whenwe get really big, are we going
to be a band that collects phones? You know what you should do?
Okay, So you should just likeget up and start performing with Maynard like
(21:56):
you crashed it, crashed the festivaland just crash their show. That's gonna
come back on you. Yeah,if you're listening Maynard. They forced me
to say that. No, Ithink I would get it doesn't matter who
who Silly Gooses or anything. They'dbe like, fuck that, you're getting
(22:18):
tackled. That would be the endof that. Thrown off the stage.
Yeah, thrown off the stage andnot invited back. And I would be
Yeah, I need be back tocrashing festivals. Yeah, parking lot.
You'll be at the parking lot acrossthe street. You'll be singing with megaphone.
(22:41):
Yeah. So how's everybody? Uh, what how you feel about going
forward? What are you doing otherDanny Wimmer festivals? Of course? Uh
so actually this year we're playing inthe parking lot or not the parking lot,
not the parking lot, the campthe campground at INC. We're supposed
(23:02):
to be there. That just mademe, It made me think of the
parking lot. So that's what Isaid. But we'll be playing at the
campground at INC. And then,um, it's not announced yet, but
I don't see why I can't sayit. We'll be at Louder than Life
this year. Nice. Um,So yeah, we'll be back at Louder.
It's gonna be really fun. We'reexcited and um. Other than that,
(23:22):
we're we're working with a real bookingagent now and a manager and we're
hoping to and we're kind of workingon new music. We've got actually a
song coming out tonight at midnight calledRap Rock Jesus. And this next era
of Silly Goose is gonna be uslike we're you know, the streets.
Heart at first was our our lastrecord, and now we're we're done with
the streets. We're in the inthe music venue is the goal. So
(23:48):
so yeah, we're gonna hear alot more from you. I hope so,
or I know so I know.So I'm very excited for it because
I can tell you that, man, if you haven't caught a Silly Goose,
that is an experience again as anold schooler, man, that was
some pretty badass ship when I sawyou live, like, thank you the
energy you have and just you know, I didn't expect it too because I
(24:11):
met you before I saw your set. Yeah, and so I was probably
pretty calm and like nervous to likeprofessional acting and like, and then I
saw you on stage. I'm like, there's the motherfucker right there. That
that's that's the person professional. It'sthe goose up in here. There you
go. I love it. Well, ain't final words. You want to
leave the listeners with, um,well, thank you for having us on.
(24:33):
And then to anyone who's at homelistening, just just yeah, check
us out on Spotify, Apple Music, the internet. Just look up silly
Goose and UM, thank you somuch. It's been a pleasure coming on
here. Yeah, maybe you guyscan do the next Afflack commercial. Oh
is that a goose in there?Yeah, it's a good I'm sorry that.
(24:57):
Oh. Yes, So you couldbe like the band performing in the
background when the goose. I likethat. I like it. I'm just
putting these things out there, likemaybe somebody will contact you or something and
that one one day, when itdoes happen, you will be cited for
it. There you go, credited. Credited. Cited would be like a
fine. It would be more likeif it was a written thing. Yeah,
(25:19):
and you're gonna be Yeah, andwe're in college writing a paper and
we're we're yes, exactly, sothe source is silly Goose here at Welcome
to Rockville. Thanks for being hereand thanks for being on the Adventures pipe
Man. Thank you for having us. Thank you for listening to the Adventures
(25:40):
of Pipe Man on w for CUIRadio
