Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hy you have done too.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Yes, that's true.
Speaker 1 (00:10):
See Why Crazy.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Young Incarceration America's rock, metal and tattoo bestory.
Speaker 4 (00:19):
This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe
Man W four C Y Radio, and I'm here with this.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
Has been in Dmitri from the Dillinger Skate Plan.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Nice here at incarceration.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
First question is are you gonna get arrested here at incarceration?
Put in the prison for breaking the rules like jumping
off on the fucking top of the stage or something.
Speaker 5 (00:41):
I mean, we've already been given a lot of rules
and a lot of restrictions, and you know we're getting older.
And I didn't even wear my diaper today, So yeah,
I can't promise that any body of fluids won't touch
the floor and there won't be any kind of Asthmatt,
you know, people to come clean.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
But other than that, I don't know what about you.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
I would say, unless it's like an accident, will pass out,
you could climb a tower, lose your electrolytes.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
It's hot out here, wor old?
Speaker 2 (01:06):
I think that's the factor probably.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
I tell you what, when I was watching you guys
at Rockville, you weren't fucking old at all man, Like,
I can't believe the energy that came from you guys
in that performance.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
I was like, oh my fucking god.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
And I've seen you guys before, but that performance was
like just I couldn't.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Really well, thank you very much, but yeah, considering the
Florida heat and you saying.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
That, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
No, Like I was like, how the fuck are they
doing this in this Florida heat?
Speaker 3 (01:35):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:36):
Yeah, well, thank you. No, we're just having a good time, man.
So it's like when you enjoy it, it's like we
really fully we're not performing, we really are like feeling it.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
That's what I see.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Yeah, well I'm watching you guys, like you can tell
when somebody's dialing it in or if they're just having
fun or.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
If they're like the business side. You guys look like
this is just like the best time in your life.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Well, thank you. That means a lot.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
And this music was written, particularly the music we're playing now,
which is our first music that we wrote in a
time when we had no expectation of people knowing it
or liking it, or ever even hearing it.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
So this truly was written for us.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
This music was written to express ourselves, and so it
brings us back to that time when we were writing music.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Purely just for ourselves, without a fan base in mind
at all. So we're very lucky to be able.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
To do it, and that's the way it should always be.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
And to add on, we've been friends since we were
like eighteen, so that's thirty years. And to what he's saying,
when we play live, it's really not we're performing. It
feels like we're still teenagers, feeling it how we did
when we wrote it all our songs X amount of
years ago. So it's a beyond a performance for us.
(02:49):
It's just like a you smell something, you remember something,
we hear that we perform. It's more of a feeling.
That's where we're coming from, and it's really good to
relive that.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
So you guys remind me of the time I originally
came from, Like when I used to see Suicidal and
I had long hair and I wasn't allowed to and
I'd get my ass kicked, but I'd go anyway. I
was talking before the interview about the first crossover show
ever and it was at this Elks Lodge in Sun Valley,
(03:22):
and it was Suicidal on the before they were Crossover,
it was coc Pree Pepper and it was Descendance on
the punk side and then Possessed Dark Angel and Savage
Race on that metal side. There was no security, first
show ever punk and metal in the same building, and
they like had a roof that was way higher than
(03:43):
this tent and people were climbing up to rafters diving off.
And when I saw you guys at Rockville, like, it
reminded me of that time.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
That's sick because I play in Suicide Tenz, so so
that's how that band was a big influence on me.
And I was a little kids skateboarding listening to Suicidal
tend z's but looking at pictures of Rabbit, r Heo
and Mike and definitely Suicidal did have an impact.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
On the creation of Dillager for sure.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
So there is a similar thing where the fans of
both bands are diehards, but it's a gang, you know.
It's people who are like, this is our thing, it's
ours and I love makes sense?
Speaker 3 (04:23):
Yeah, I love that. What do you think.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
About playing at the show Shank Prison.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
I didn't realize we were playing until about a week ago.
I know, Stephen King writes all his books. All his
stories are based in New England, so I always thought
this prison was up somewhere in like Maine.
Speaker 3 (04:43):
But when I.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Found out it added some juice for me personally as
a fan. So yeah, it's it's.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
It's trip, right.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
It's not a bucket list thing, but it's definitely like
I get checked that off of like cool things I've
done in life, like I played at Shawshank Prison. Well
not added, but next to it.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
He's my Morgan Freeman anyway, somebody.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
There, you go, Yeah, I can't get him things like poster.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
He gets me things nice.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
One of my favorite movies, and a lot of people
don't know Stephen King because it's not like a horror.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Movie, right, but it just was his genius.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Right. Oh yeah, it's so good.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
Yeah, epic movie. It's funny.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
I do all the festivals all the time, and my
youngest stores, she'll call me up, so you're excited about
this festival. I'm like, I love it. I don't know
if excited is the right word when you do it
every week. But then when I came here for the
first time, I called her up and I'm like, I'm
calling you from the prison.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Yard of Shawshank. Now I'm excited.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yeah, absolutely right. It gives it that juice.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Yeah, exactly, Yeah, totally.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
So what do you guys got going on after this
that we want the listeners to know about? What do
we have next for going on after inc that? We
want the listeners know about and tell them about your
merch store because your merch store is badass and they
can't listen to my show. And let's say buy your merch.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Okay, our merch store.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
It's if you go to our Instagram page, there's a
link to our merch store. But thank you for plugging that.
We're next week. It's what's today, July sixteen, I don't know.
We're playing Denver next Saturday, and then after that in
August we're headed to Australia for two weeks.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
And I've never been to Australia period. Wow.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
I'm really excited for that. To go with these guys
and keep doing this and enjoying the moment, that's what
we're doing.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
That's the key.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yeah, those are our plans. So next is Denver and
then two weeks in Australia.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Fucking Australia. We're going west to East Coast I know.
I love it.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
Man, Australia, that's pretty freaking cool. Have you been to
Australia before?
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Yeah, yeah, I've been a bunch of times.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
And I'm actually doing that in August with Dillinger and
then going back in November with Suicidal on Metallica tour.
I'm gonna be in Australia quite a bit. Man, I'm
gonna get those damn those play points.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Man, there you go.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Shit, what going to Australia? Right? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (06:55):
A little band call maybe you heard of them? No,
but yeah, I'm not looking forward to it, but I
am lying. It's a long, exhausting but it's so good,
so exhausting.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
But oh what are you doing down there? See this
is now he's going down.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
There speaking of looking for something.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
Check out my battle vest from what I was talking about.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Yep, shit, it's up.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
You know what's up?
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Look at that's sick. Now, this is a real fucking vest.
How old is this?
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Nineteen eighty?
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Hell yeah, So if you were the guy that we
looked up to in the eighties, we're like that dude
was a fucking badass. Well, thank like my my my
neighbor growing up in New Jersey, I'm from.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
New Jersey, originally originally North Jersey, Montclair litl Falls, Roselantic,
but I the last place was down to the shore.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
I've lived all over Jersey.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
Yeah, up in Morris County.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Okay, so I know it well.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
But I spent a lot of time in Montclair. There
you go.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
My neighbor across the street to me growing up, drew
with this like if you see movies today, like the
typical metal van with like the lightning on it, and
he always had the sickest eighties metal shirts. That was
my window to like that guy's a fucking badass. Nineteen
eighty four, Van Halen's eight nineteen eighty four came out
and that was it for me.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
So check out what happened to me. I'm like twelve
years old. It's nineteen eighty and my dad goes, pack
your bags, we're moving to California. And that was the
start of my metal journey because I went there. My
first club show was at the Roxy Motley Crue before
they had an album, when they were like horror punk,
(08:36):
they weren't lamb yet. And then I went to Slayers
first show ever, Metallica's first show ever.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
That is crazy bro right, you're that's crazy.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
I mean, like, like.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
You've seen history. Man, you just seen the.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
Very bigate I saw Auzsie went Randy Rhodes, Like that
was epic.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
It amazes me now.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
When we're at this festival with so many metal heads
out there, especially where people are like metals dead.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Rock's dead.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
Walk the fuck out there and you'll see how not
dead it is and thank god, it's bigger than it
ever was and we're one big family now.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
And what's pretty wild is you witness the evolution of
metal pretty much.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Yeah, totally wild.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Like we hopped in a little before the middle of it,
like early mid eighties for me, mid eighties more. But
it's man, I must be sick, just like late seventies,
early eighties.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
Oh dude, it was insane. Like I go now to
LA I'm like, I'm going to Rainbow. I'm like, how
did I ever get in there? Like being twelve, thirteen, fourteen,
Oh I walked in with Botley Crue that's how you know,
and hanging with Lemmy at the Rainbow shit shit like that.
And I say to people that tell me nowadays like
(09:57):
in my age group, oh yeah, I used to listen
to metal. I'm like, no, you didn't if you used
to listen to metal, you're not a metal head, Like
it's a lifelong identity and just a passion, Like, yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
It is on our music. You can't fake you know.
It's not about a.
Speaker 5 (10:16):
Playlist like or like just a hit or the producer.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
It's about the band, what they mean and what they
bring to the past, what they bring into the future,
all of that.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
Well, I am definitely so excited.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
You guys are here at incarceration and I hope you
don't get your artists past pulled because I would saying
before it was louder than life. I think years ago
Joy's Wolf Nick climbed up to very top. Nick from
Joyous Wealth climbed up to very top, it was saying
from up there, and as soon as their set was over,
(10:50):
he got his past pulled and kicked out of the venue. Yeah,
so let's hope that doesn't happen you. But I don't
think it will because he got away with it at Rockville.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
So you might hear so that that was no subtle
pressure at all from you.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
It just means, yeah, well I'll give you the pressure.
I just talked to Slaughter to prevail. They have said
that they're gonna have the biggest wall of death ever here.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
I want to see you beat theirs.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Oh boy, we go on right before them, so.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Yeah, so now you have to like totally bring it
all out.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
The impressive crowd, the chair, a crowd stir upper band
for sure.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
I'm excited to see them.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
I never say it, but yeah, it's gonna be fun.
It's gonna be fun. It's all gonna be fun.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Yeah, And anybody that plays after us, it's easier to
enjoy watching because you're done playing.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Exactly. See the pressure.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Mine that we're bringing a bear out on stage. Brought
a bear with us.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
Oh boy, that's gonna be good. Does he have a
bandana on?
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Yeah? Yeah, I know that bear.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
You met him before.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
Yeah, that's gonna be fun. Well, you guys rock any fun?
I know words you want to give the listeners before
we go.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
Final words.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Thanks for having us tak them the time, talk.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
