We are at Shawshank Prison aka Ohio State Reformatory for the 2025 Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival. The Dillinger Escape Plan is playing and came backstage in the Press / Artist Lounge to talk with Pipeman Radio of W4CY Radio about what it is like to perform at such an iconic location where Shawshank Redemption was filmed. This closed down prison is known to be haunted so when you go to Blood Prison who knows what will happen.

And I didn't even wear my diaper today, So yeah,
I can't promise that any body of fluids won't touch
the floor and there won't be any kind of Asthmatt,
you know, people to come clean.

It's just like a you smell something, you remember something,
we hear that we perform. It's more of a feeling.
That's where we're coming from, and it's really good to
relive that.

So you guys remind me of the time I originally
came from, Like when I used to see Suicidal and
I had long hair and I wasn't allowed to and
I'd get my ass kicked, but I'd go anyway. I
was talking before the interview about the first crossover show
ever and it was at this Elks Lodge in Sun Valley,

and it was Suicidal on the before they were Crossover,
it was coc Pree Pepper and it was Descendance on
the punk side and then Possessed Dark Angel and Savage
Race on that metal side. There was no security, first
show ever punk and metal in the same building, and
they like had a roof that was way higher than

this tent and people were climbing up to rafters diving off.
And when I saw you guys at Rockville, like, it
reminded me of that time.

That's sick because I play in Suicide Tenz, so so
that's how that band was a big influence on me.
And I was a little kids skateboarding listening to Suicidal
tend z's but looking at pictures of Rabbit, r Heo
and Mike and definitely Suicidal did have an impact.

So there is a similar thing where the fans of
both bands are diehards, but it's a gang, you know.
It's people who are like, this is our thing, it's

your bags, we're moving to California. And that was the
start of my metal journey because I went there. My
first club show was at the Roxy Motley Crue before
they had an album, when they were like horror punk,

they weren't lamb yet. And then I went to Slayers
first show ever, Metallica's first show ever.

he always had the sickest eighties metal shirts. That was
my window to like that guy's a fucking badass. Nineteen
eighty four, Van Halen's eight nineteen eighty four came out
and that was it for me.

So check out what happened to me. I'm like twelve
years old. It's nineteen eighty and my dad goes, pack
your bags, we're moving to California. And that was the
start of my metal journey because I went there. My
first club show was at the Roxy Motley Crue before
they had an album, when they were like horror punk,

they weren't lamb yet. And then I went to Slayers
first show ever, Metallica's first show ever.

ever was and we're one big family now.

Like we hopped in a little before the middle of it,
like early mid eighties for me, mid eighties more. But
it's man, I must be sick, just like late seventies,
early eighties.

Oh dude, it was insane. Like I go now to
LA I'm like, I'm going to Rainbow. I'm like, how
did I ever get in there? Like being twelve, thirteen, fourteen,
Oh I walked in with Botley Crue that's how you know,
and hanging with Lemmy at the Rainbow shit shit like that.
And I say to people that tell me nowadays like

in my age group, oh yeah, I used to listen
to metal. I'm like, no, you didn't if you used
to listen to metal, you're not a metal head, Like
it's a lifelong identity and just a passion, Like, yeah.
