Weather for today, a few areas of fog to start
the day. Otherwise, we're going to see some breaks of
sun return. We'll have a couple different chances for some
stronger thunderstorms today. One is from late morning into the
middle of the day. The second chance is mainly during
the evening. Still could see a thunderstorm at any point,
but those are the couple times with a higher risk
for us. And again, any of those could be on
the strong side today. Highs today in the mid 80s.

(01:51):
Going into tonight, some strong thunderstorms during the evening, as
I mentioned. Then they move southeast and away. So especially
near midnight, after midnight, a lot of that's going to
be moving out. Lows in the upper 60s. And for tomorrow,
some breaks of sun return. Highs in the upper 70s
to near 80. Just a slight chance of a shower then.
From the 13 Wham! Weather Authority, I'm meteorologist Marty Snyder.

Downtown, we still have cloudy skies. We're at 71 degrees.

Source for breaking news, weather and traffic. News Radio, Wham! 1180.
Rochester police are probing a pair of shootings, feet from
each other, on the city's southeast side. A 42-year-old man
was hit by gunfire around 12.30 this morning behind a

(02:36):
restaurant on Monroe Avenue near Woodlawn Street. Less than an
hour after that, a 36-year-old man was shot in the
upper body in that same area. Both victims are expected
to recover. No one has been arrested. A Wayne County
grand jury has indebted a Newark man on a hate
crime charge stemming from a June assault. Assistant Wayne County D.A.
Justin Hill says 39-year-old Brandon Watt repeatedly targeted 71-year-old Johnny

(02:56):
White with racial slurs before beating him with a two-by-four.
Speaking after the arraignment, White says it has taken a toll.

Speaker 10 (03:02):
It's been a heck of a burden, stressful mentally, physically,
in every way possible. But thanks to God, my mother,
my family, my wife, I'm standing strong.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
While it's being held on $ 25, 000 bail. A dramatic day
four in the Irondequoit family murders trial.

Speaker 11 (03:19):
Brothers Louis and Julio Soriano are being tried together in
the 2024 torture, murder, and arson case. A former Rochester
police evidence technician became visibly emotional while describing the basement
where prosecutors say the four victims were found. Defense attorneys
argued the testimony was intended to sway jurors and asked
for a mistrial, but the judge denied the motion. Testimony
resumes today. Dominic Ciccarelli, NewsRadio, WAM 1180.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
A Rochester man is facing charges after he was allegedly
caught with an illegal gun on an electric scooter. Police
say they stopped the 18-year-old just after 1 o'clock this
morning at State and Brown Streets with a loaded semi-automatic
handgun on him. He's now facing a pair of gun crimes.
NewsRadio WAM, the limited time is now 7.05. Your next
check of traffic and weather on the 10s in less
than five minutes. CENTCOM announcing that a new round of

(04:03):
strikes against Iran is now complete. Fox's Madeline Rivera has
the latest from Washington.

Speaker 10 (04:09):
The U.S.

Speaker 12 (04:09):
Military says the strikes come after the IRGC's attacks on
ships in the Strait of Hormuz and American forces in
the region. The president says Iran had tried but failed
to add sea mines in the strait. He also says
Iran had shot eight missiles at the U.S. military base
in Jordan, all of which were intercepted. The fresh barrage
of strikes come after roughly a month of no military action.

(04:32):
The president has increasingly leaned on sanctions as he tries
to inflict more economic pain against the regime. The president
posting on Truth Social, I'm not trying to force Iran
to the bargaining table. I like our position now much
better with almost total control of the Hormuz Strait and
their economy totally collapsing.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Iran's regime has shown little sign of yielding to the
president's demands after six months of the war. Authorities are
identifying a woman from New Jersey as the victim killed
during a stabbing spree in Times Square on Monday afternoon.

Speaker 13 (05:00):
Police say 32-year-old Aaron Piacenti of Chester, New Jersey, was
fatally stabbed in the stomach by 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros. Piacenti
worked as a vice president for Bank of America, and
the Daily News reports she recently celebrated her two-year wedding anniversary.
The 68-year-old man was also stabbed while crossing the street
with his wife. He is currently recovering and expected to survive.

(05:22):
Cisneros was ultimately shot and killed by police moments after
the double stabbing. Mayor Mamdani said body cam footage of
the incident will be released to the public. In New York,
I'm Lizzie Radabali.

13 WAM meteorologist Marty Satter says we could see some
thundershowers today and some of those could be very heavy.
The times to watch, late morning into about midday or so.
The second one will be during this evening. Those could
bring some heavy thundershowers and can't rule out an isolated
tornado as well. So again, keep an eye on the
skies throughout the day today. Otherwise, it's going to be humid,
temperatures in the mid-80s. For tonight, occasional showers and thundershowers. Again,

(07:27):
those could bring locally heavy rain at times. Those will
drop into the upper 60s. For tomorrow, some stray showers
in the morning. Those fade away by the afternoon. Highs
right around 80. We'll be in the upper 70s on
Friday with partly cloudy skies and then lower 70s on
Saturday to start off the weekend, mostly sunny skies then.
Right now downtown, we've got mainly cloudy skies right now.
It's 71 degrees, 69 right now in Parma. NewsRadio WAMP

(07:51):
over the time is now 7-12. The state's still waiting
on nearly $ 87 million federal dollars for counterterrorism programs, and
Governor Hochul says she wants answers.

Speaker 17 (08:02):
Don't play political games with people's lives. Release the $ 87
million you owe us. Because if you don't release the
counterterrorism funding, you're betraying every family that lost someone on 9-11.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
She says the Trump administration has yet to release the
funding that supports intelligence operations, transit security, bomb squads, and
local police training, and argues that delay is putting public
safety at risk. The state's Climate Change Superfund Act has
been struck down.

Speaker 18 (08:27):
The law seeks to collect $ 75 billion in retroactive penalties
from oil and gas companies blamed for greenhouse gas emissions.
But a federal judge called it beyond the limits of
state law, and the Federal Clean Air Act supersedes it.
Governor Hochul signed the law in December 2024, and it
was revised last year. The ruling could apply to similar

(08:48):
funds in other states. Marty Kasper, NewsRadio, WAM 1180.

be a hung jury in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial.

Speaker 19 (09:06):
If the 12 deliberating jury members in the Lindsay Clancy
trial can't reach a unanimous decision, then it's a hung
jury and Judge William Sullivan has to declare a mistrial.
If that happens, the charges against Clancy will still stand.
Lawyers for the Commonwealth will have to decide if there
will be a second trial with a new jury. Prosecutors

(09:28):
could also offer a plea deal, which Clancy's attorneys may
not accept as they push for charges to be dropped altogether.
For now, murder and manslaughter are still being considered, as
well as finding Clancy not criminally responsible for killing her
three children. Grinnell Scott, Fox News.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
A judge has ruled that the man accused of killing
conservative activist Charlie Kirk can go on trial for capital murder.
The judge, Tony Graff, made the decision after hearing the
prosecution lay out what it called overwhelming evidence against Tyler
Robinson in the preliminary hearing.

Speaker 20 (10:00):
For the foregoing reasons and based off the record and
party's submissions, it is hereby ordered that the defendant, Tyler
James Robinson, is bound over for trial in the 4th
Judicial District Court.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
Capital murder allows the prosecution to pursue the death penalty.
Robinson is accused of fatally shooting Kirk last September at
a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University. NewsRadio WAM,

The global data center boom shows no signs of letting up.
PwC sees the spending spree reaching $ 31. 6 trillion through 2050
to satisfy the world's growing appetite for AI. It could
even hit $ 50 trillion over the next two and a
half decades. if AI adoption ramps up beyond PwC's central
scenario forecast. At the same time, the tech industry is

(13:48):
facing a backlash against data centers. Shares of JetBlue closed
down 2.8 percent after the airline said it would roll
out its new first-class options for travelers. The Blue First
cabin will be available this fall and offer as much
as seven inches of additional legroom and five inches of recline.
Despite its recent efforts, the airline is still showing signs

(14:08):
of financial strain. Stocks finished lower as oil prices continued
to rise. The Dow was down around 0.8%, the S &
P fell 0.7%, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq fell around 1% yesterday.

Sports Desk. I'm John DiTullio. Brandon Bean, the general manager
of the Buffalo Bills, met with the media on Tuesday.
One of the questions, does he feel this team is
a Super Bowl winning roster?

Speaker 23 (15:41):
You're trying to put the best roster, the best team,
you know, a championship level roster, whatever roster. However you
determine that, however I determine it, however anyone determines, that's
evaluating each team. And so, you know, I think for
a number of years we felt like we could, you know,
contend for a division title, which gets you a ticket
