King Charles III is bringing two doctors and a supply of his blood on his tour of Australia and Samoa starting later this week.

The King has been dealing with cancer since February.

It will be his first visit to Australia as King - New Zealand was believed to be dropped from the itinerary on medical advice.

UK correspondent Gavin Grey told Ryan Bridge the King is taking a pause on his chemotherapy treatment during the trip.

“We believe that there are no evening engagements, he has days off during his tour which is more than a week.”

Grey says the King was gutted not to also visit New Zealand, but his clinicians thought it was a bridge too far.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
And we're going to Devin Gray are UK correspondent, because
we're hearing that King Charles on his tripped down Under
to Australia, will be traveling with quite the medical sit Upkevin,
what's he traveling with?

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yeah, Ran, So of course he arrives later this week
in Australia and he is taking a pause, a break
from his chemotherapy and as anyone who's had chemotherapy will say,
often they feel completely run down. So we believe that
there are no evening engagements. He has days off during
his tour, which is more than a week. But also

(00:34):
he is traveling with two full time doctors and we
think they're coming from London. There is a backup team
as well at some of the locations that he's visiting
and taking several pints of blood with him. Now why well,
because of course if you get very run down having
had chemo, you may get some infection which requires the
blood to be infused. So there's obviously that concern that

(00:55):
they've got. And this is the first visit by a
British king to Australia. He was gus, I know, not
to be able to go to New Zealand at the
same time, but this was something that is his clinicians
just said, look at the bridge too far. I don't
think they were overly keen in taking him taking this
long trip in the first place, but obviously now we're
getting details of the some of the precautions being taken

(01:15):
for his health since he was diagnosed with cancer back
in February.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Sounds like he will need it attending the not only
Australia but also SAMA while he's down here as well.
Thank you very much for it, Devin Gray, our UK
europe correspondent.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
