A peace summit is now underway in Egypt following the release of Israeli and Palestinian hostages.

The summit was attended by US President Donald Trump, who said that ‘the sun rises on a holy land that is finally at peace.’

Former Chief of Staff for Marco Rubio’s 2016 presidential campaign Matt Terrill told Ryan Bridge that there is still a lot of work to do before peace can finally be declared.

‘You have a great opportunity here to forge lasting peace, but this is a peace deal. More work needs to be done.’

Speaker 1 (00:00):
A big peace summit underway in Egypt, hostages released, Palestinian

(00:03):
prisoners handed over. So far, so good. Here's Trump addressing
is Rael's parliament today. This guy's are calm, the guns
are silent, the sirens are still, and the sun rises
on a holy land that is finally at peace. Right
Joining us this morning is Matt Tyrell, former chief of
staff for Marco Rubio's twenty sixteen presidential campaign.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Met.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Good morning, Good to have you on the show.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Great to be with you, Thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
I know that the photo ops are happening. There's a
lot of grip and grinning going on. But is it
too early to say this is a peace deal?

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Well, look, I think this is a piece deal. Obviously,
more work needs to be done. But the first step
and getting to this piece deal was getting these hostages home,
and it's great to see that happen here. So this
is a really an amazing thing to watch. The first
step to full peace in the region, really in terms
of end of this war as well, was getting these

(00:56):
hostages home. Obviously, more work needs to be done, but
you're seeing President Trump already underway. And the bigger element
of this is that this isn't just President Trump doing this. Obviously,
this would not be done, it would not be achieved
without President Trump. What he's done has been brilliant. He
put together a coalition of Arab and Muslim countries, for example,
to come to the table, put pressure on Hamas and

(01:18):
help make this happen. But ultimately, if it was of
a President Trump's leadership, this would not be happening. Right now,
you have a I think a great opportunity here to
the forge lasting piece. But this is a piece deal.
More work needs to be done, but a great dating
thesag is home.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
There is a lot of talk this morning about who's
gets the credit that kind of thing. How's it playing
out in the media in America? Are they, you know,
are those more left wing outlets happy to say this
is down to Trump and congratulations mister President.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Well, look, you're even seeing Secretary former Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton and former Vice President Kamala Harris praise President
Trump in terms of what he's accomplished here. I think
Republicans and Democrats are like recognize that this was a
major challenge and look, throughout my lifetime, I've never seen
peace in the Middle East and you're seeing it now

(02:07):
today with the return of these hostages. And what you've
seen here is that this didn't happen overnight. You know,
President Trump has been working on this for months, and
even in his first term with the Abraham Accords, you
saw him making progress and trying to get peace in
the Middle East. But ultimately we saw on his second
term here was him go to the Middle East and
meet with leaders in Saudi Arabia, guitar the UAE. You know,

(02:29):
he's had relationships in the region but also also worldwide,
and you're seeing those leaders today in Egypt shaking hands
with the President Trump, you know, taking pictures with President Trump.
This was a brilliant move by the president. He put
together an effective coalition of world leaders to come together.
Par took me those world leaders in neighboring countries to

(02:51):
put the necessary pressure on Hamas and to help make
this day happen. But it started with President Trump making
these relationships happen. And it comes down and relationships. You know,
negotiation is about relationships. And President Trump has strong relationships
with these Arab and Muslim world leaders, strong relationships with
leaders around the world. That on top of that, you know,

(03:13):
the bombing on Iran. You know that that was instrumental
in helping you get here. So it's been a multipart
pron approach by President Trump. The credit goes to him,
the Secretary of Rubio, Steve Wickoff, Jared Kushner, Evanka Trump,
but with so many other people within President Trump's administration
who helped make this happen. It's been a team effort.
But again I go back to only one world leader,
in my opinion, could have gotten this done, and that

(03:34):
world leader's name is President Donald J. Trump.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Appreciate your time, Matt. Matt Terrell, who's fullmer chief stopped
to Mica Rubia for more Familily edition with Ryan Bridge.
