Speaker 1 (00:00):
Super Rugby semi final time Blues and Brumbies to night
Eden Park tomorrow, Hurricanes, Chiefs and the Capitol. Of course,
sports commentator Sam Ackerman is with us on all of this. Sam,
very good morning to you and to you as well.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
It's a big weekend looking forward to it.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Well, I was going to say, here's here's the here's
the game. I'm going to play with you. You can only
watch one game, which.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Is oh, listen, I almost I won't take Warrior's Storm
if I can only watch one. If I can watch
one game, if I can, if I can watch one
and Super Rugby, I'm definitely taking the Hurricanes versus the Chiefs.
It's it's got blockbuster written all over it, and the
Hurricane has been so impressive this year. Can they win

(00:39):
a Super Rightby title with the britty style of rugby
that they've played for so much of the season. I
think yes. I think they're very capable. But the Chiefs
are aside that you can't sleep on. They've done so
well to the start of the season, and while they
win as dominant towards the back end, how they performed
against the Red show that they can shake it up
with anyone daytime rugby as well. It's what fans love

(00:59):
to watch. I think it's a classic Rittal overyte.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
When you say it's what fans love to watch, you're correct,
And so why haven't they worked that out more? Is
that all about television and we're watching the TV at
night and you need the eyeballs.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
It is as well as fitting into international audiences now.
I know it's Australia as your new other team involved now,
but it still needs to fit into there and be
accessible to international on the other side of the planet
as well, so that they think about that, whereas a
lot of other competitions wouldn't keep us in mind, would they.
So I think that it feels like a throwback and

(01:34):
a funny kind of way to see a daytime game
like that, But hopefully it's successful enough and allows for
that kind of flow on for those making the calls
to remember it's how we grew up watching how rugby
and not everyone wants to go late at night in
the cold to watch it exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Blues Brumbies, Is that even a contest? And if it isn't,
what does it say about the quality of the overall comp.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Listen, I'll set the Blues for sure, but typical are
start getting out of our head that we think the
Union Zealand teams can win. We can't sleep on the Brumbies.
They have been doing very well this season. They only
had a couple of losses as well, including knocking over
the Hurricanes in a real shock this season, so they're capable.
But you can't the Blues at home even without Patrick
Tupelow too. They look too strong and the concept of

(02:19):
wedding right through to another Super Rapy final, our team
that's come so close for so long. I talk about
the pretty of the Hurricanes, it's the gritty of the
Blues that I'm really interested in and looking forward seeing
if this is finally the style of football that delivers
a title back at Teton Park.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Okay, so you're tipping the Blues. We didn't get to
the Hurricaneschoops, who wins it.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
I'm going to stick with the Hurricanes while the chiasa
quality of the Hurricanes haven't given us a reason to
back against them, and that's where I always consider. With
the team playing as well as they have for so long.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
All right, good stuff, you have a good weekend, Sam,
and he was right. And initially wasn't he worried's storm?
I mean, that's the real game of the weekend, for
goodness sake, Sam Akerman.
