Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good afternoon. The number of drive by shootings in Auckland
in recent weeks has now had five. Two of these
shootings happened last night. Both of them were in South Auckland,
and the remainder happened just in the last couple of weeks.
Police are investigating, but they say they're still in the
dark about who the culprits are, whether the events are linked.
South Auckland councilor and former police officer al Philippina is
with me right a half.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Hey, he thew are you?
Speaker 1 (00:22):
I'm good mate? Any idea what's going on here?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Wow? No, And I actually spoke to one of the
senior police officers after I spoke with Laura and spoke
to them, and they're obviously still investigating it. I think
that I just hope our community do not get to
a point where they say, oh, gosh, you know, we're
(00:45):
just used to it now. We should never get used
to this.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Never aren't we already there?
Speaker 2 (00:49):
It's a shocking No. I don't think we are. I
hope we're not, because they're just discussing what's happening and
working with the police. I mean, my plea is to
people who know who is doing this, whether it's gain
related or not. But people, you know, I just realize that, hey,
(01:12):
you're one of your relatives could well be shot, seriously
injured or killed and ring the police just bring them anonymously?
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Is there what's going on here? For people not reporting it?
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Of course, of course that that's what's happening, because if
you know, if the community and people who know the
people who are doing this, do it anonymously, you don't
need to put your name out there, but try and
get these firearms out of the community, get these people
(01:48):
and make them accountable for what they're doing, because if
they did ring the police, we wouldn't have this. And
that's what's so disappointing.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Sorry, elf, Is this ferals shooting ferals or are they
innocent people being being accidentally caught up here?
Speaker 2 (02:06):
No? I personally, I don't think even with the jobway
with the house and the car, I personally don't think
it's so sorry, wrong house. I don't because of how
many shots were fired, the fact that there was the
house as well as the vehicle. I don't. I don't
(02:27):
know whether it's going related, but you know, for me,
community out there, do not do not think that. Oh look,
this is just normal and we should get used to it.
We should never get used to this. It's shocking. It's shocking.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
