Black Caps fast bowler Blair Tickner has been taken to hospital and is unlikely to take any more part in the second cricket test against the West Indies.

Tickner had taken four wickets when he fell awkwardly diving to save a boundary at the Basin Reserve, with a dislocated shoulder the unwelcome outcome.

NZME sports broadcaster Andrew Alderson says Tickner hit the ground hard - adding to the Black Caps' growing list of injuries.

Bran Bread five eighteen.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
It's going to the cricket But a drama there today
with the black Cats, second day of the second Windy's Test,
and bleared. Tickner has been stretching off the field. Andrew
is with us now, Andrew, good afternoon.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Greeting's Ryan. Yes, it's gone from bear to use for
the black Caps Casualty Award, that's for sure. Tickner has
gone off what looks like a dislocation in this early stage.
He's hit the ground trying to field a ball at
fine leg and what the western is one ninety three

(00:34):
for seven of that stage in the one nine for
eight now, but he's hit the ground hard and looks
like he's popped out of shoulder. Potentially he's been on
I didn't actually know about this. What it's called the
green whistle, which is immediate pain relief apparently, And I
doubt that he's going back for this mismatch or even
the next one. Ryan. So just he's added to that
Black camp's list of injuries and they may well be

(00:56):
calling in another bottle now for the third ship now LONGU.
But all said, and he's to have put together a
reasonably solid showing here this afternoon. As I say, one
ninety nine or eight, we had an open stand of
sixty six, but he's heald to have wooked their way
back into proceedings.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
We're getting a bit short on bowlers there, allders.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
We are, indeed.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
And well.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Jamison is currently working his way back and doing some
rehab and also building up his loads. But I wonder
if they might bring him back after that to Third
Test at Melbounger. No New Zealand needs a spearhead. But
the irony of this is that technos absolutely outside. Look
it's for thirty sixteen overs, probably his best display in
a Test match shirt, and was looking to wrap up

(01:41):
the innings. So disappointment for New Zealand on that front,
given they will be likely to have him disposal for
the second innings and test. The loss of Matt Henry,
the loss of Nathan Smith, among others already in the
rehab lounge with will Ben Sar to add to that,
Kyle Jamieson, it's a woful picture.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yeah, absolutely, Hey appreciate that update, Andrew. Thank you. Andrew.
All listen with us on the Basin Reserve this afternoon.
