The White House says Democrats are pulling a manufactured hoax following the release of emails by late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, mentioning Donald Trump.

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have released three email exchanges, followed by the release of 20-thousand pages of documents by Republicans.

One email from 2011 claims the US President spent hours at Epstein's house with an unnamed victim.

Newstalk ZB senior political correspondent Barry Soper unpacked the reactions to this development.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're going to have to talk about Simon Watson. The
thing that he said when we get a chance. Thirteen
away from five, Barry so Per, Senior political Correspondence with US.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Hello, Barry, good afternoon of the mind boggles.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Stay tuned, Barry. What is going on with the Maori Party?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Well, that's what I'd like to know, what is going
on with the Malory Party because if you check out
their website, yes, their Mighty Clark hanahwai or no, she's
Mighty Clark's there. Yes, that's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Stop it.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Mighty Clark is there along with the co leaders and
under the headliners to party Malory members of Parliament. Well
where is Areny Coprara?

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Well she's not there? So it does beg the question,
doesn't it? What's going on here? And the thing is
Copra and Mightighty Clark haven't yet spoken publicly since everything
went barely up in the Malori Party. Copra, though you'll remember,
posted on social media her support for Kapakinhi late last month.

(01:06):
She said I'm still here, she wrote, standing by you,
for you and with you. The fight will continue, but
for now rest is required. Well you know that's interesting
isn't it. And then map Clark, she wrote on her
social media page, I've made the decision for our Rohi,
the hierarchy Waikato to hold the line. Now I'm not

(01:27):
sure exactly what that means, but look, if they lose
half their caucus, you've got to say they do have
not insignificant problems in the Maldi party.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Fair to say that looking at the comments that they've
both made. These are the young MPs and any Looking
at the comments that they've both made and the fact
that they've had this meeting yesterday, then it looks like
there's a defection or any kaiper has defected to the
two ousted MP's and Han Rafiti's still sticking with the
Maori Party.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Well, yes, say, although I haven't seen neither neither of them.
Matt Parliament since today. Takuta Ferris was there and you'll hear.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
From him to turn up for it.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Turned up for so did Kapakingi. She was there, but
the co leadership wasn't there.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
It's weird, okay, Listen, this treaty obligation stuff for the
school boards is back in Parliament.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Well yes it was this afternoon. The issue, of course,
should be championed by the Maldi Party. But of course
none of the Maldi Party were there today the removal
of the treat of White Hongy from the school's country
school boards the co leadership. They weren't there, but the
new Independent MP, Takuta Ferris was there doing battle over

(02:48):
the issue. But not before the Greens Lawrence ju Nan
had to go at the Education Minister Erica Stanford.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
Who does she think is more committed to your white
tonguey her government or the coalition made up of eighty
eight ewing over ninety five thousand teachers, Principles, schools and
Kuda opposing her repeat of Section one twenty seven sub
Subsection t E of the Education and Training Act.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
The person who has committed to the treaty is the
Minister of Education. Here we are having a debate about
the Treaty of Waitangi in a school boards responsibility when
we should be talking about Maori achievement because that's what
this government has been doing. We are raising Marii achievement
unlike the.

Speaker 5 (03:32):
Last lot Subpremtary Takuta Ferris, what.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Action is the Minister taking? So the EWE chairs petition
to protect Tatidity in education.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
I am actively seeking a meeting with EWE chairs to
discuss the responsibility that the Crown has for the treaty.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Now, it just occurred to me that given Takuta Ferris's
opposition to Asians campaigning and a Maori electorate that basically
following Ju Nan, who was born in China.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Yeah, I don't know how he feels, got him weighing
the debate.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
That's why an appeal to me, I thought. Following on
from that, so yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Okay, listen, I'm Donald Trump. Have you got an your
TDS ready? Let's go, Let's go.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
No, No, I don't have any TVs. It's what But look, interestingly,
in the two hundred twenty fifteen email egged Donald Trump
on or egged the situation on when basically Epstein said
that he could produce photos of Donald and girls in

(04:37):
bikinis in my kitchen. So no less then the late
Jennifer Dufrey or Dufrey sorry said she was a teenage
SPA attended marri Lago when she was poached by in
two thousand by Maxwell to work for Epstein. Interestingly, Max

(05:00):
rules now serving, of course, as we all know, a
twenty year prison term. But after being interviewed by the
Deputy Attorney General. She's been shifted to a minimum security prison,
which we're told she's rather enjoying. So the White House spokesperson,
Carolyn Levitt, she said Democrats selectively leaked those emails to

(05:20):
create a fight, fight, negative or narrative to smear the president.

Speaker 5 (05:25):
He was from Palm Beach, and so was Jeffrey Epstein.
Jeffrey Epstein was a member at mar A Lago until
President Trump kicked him out because Jeffrey Epstein was a
pedophile and he was a creep in this email you
refer to with the name of a victim that was
unredacted now and has since been reported on in this room.
So I will go ahead and say it, Virginia Guffrey,

(05:46):
and God rest her soul that she maintained that there
was nothing inappropriate. She ever witnessed that President Trump was
always extremely professional and friendly to her. This administration has
done more with respect to transparency when it comes to
Jeffrey Epstein than any administration ever. Now they're talking about
it all of a sudden because President Trump is in

(06:06):
the Oval office, But when Joe Biden was sitting in there,
the Democrats never brought this up. This wasn't an issue
that they cared about because they actually don't care about
the victims in these cases. They care about trying to
score political points against President Trump.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
Yeah, and of course Joe Biden had nothing to do
with Jeffrey Hips.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
You I understand very so the Senior Political Correspondence.
