Local farmers want to save Mangaohane Station and keep it as a functional piece of farmland, and they're crowdfunding to save the area from being bought out and used for trees.
One farmer who wants to prevent Mangaohane Station from being sold for forestry is Derek Daniell, CEO of Wairere Rams.
Derek Daniell explained that the funding might take a while, but the support from the general public was helpful for spreading awareness to save the farm land.
