Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, Jason pine host of Weekends Sports with Me right now, Piney, Hello, Hello, Heather,
Tim Salviy Do you see this coming?

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Ye? Well, it wasn't a huge shock.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
I think at some point we knew that he was
gonna call it quits. Once he wasn't captain anymore. It
kind of felt like it was coming towards the end.
I don't mind it, actually, I think it's a nice
way for him to finish against the team he started
his career against on home soil, three grounds he likes
a lot. He'll finish in Hamilton kind of you know,
home soil. Yeah, I didn't.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I didn't absolutely know what was coming.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
But it's no great surprise that he's decided to call
it quits in his Red Bull career.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
And then what does he do. I mean, is he
going on to any kind of other things, like I
don't know some of those T twenty matches.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
What he said is he's open to playing domestically, so
that'll be for northern districts and also franchise cricket. But
the reality is that you know, he's not going to
play ipl for example, or the really big T twenty leagues.
But there are so many of them now here that
you know, he might end up playing in one of
the other startup franchise leagues.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
You know, he keeps himself impeckedly fit, tim South.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
He might have another couple of years of sort of
you know, playing around the world and a bit of
extra corn before he decides what he does with the rest.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Of his life.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Poney, what do you make of the changes in the
All Blacks? I mean it, I think people will be
reasonably split on the body versus d Mac thing because
d Mac played so well last week.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, and same with the Soapoma and Cody Taylor.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
You know, am and McKenzie were probably our two Bess players,
but Barton and Barret and Taylor were out can cast.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
It wasn't like that being dropped on form.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
So I don't mind them coming back in because I
like Almoor and McKenzie and the role they play off
the bench. I thought they might go Peter Larkeye at
number seven. I thought they might leave Artie at eight,
so Titi at six and just make the one change
in the loose trio. It seems like they've kind of
shuffled three chairs there rather than just the one. But
you know, I don't mind, don't mind the loose forward trio.
In fact, I don't mind the team at all. If

(01:49):
I'm honest either, I think it's a good team. I
think we'll probably win.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Oh and you got it right last week, Poney against
the odds, So I.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Know I'm on a roll. On an absolute role, I'd.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Be betting on what you say? What's that now? Why
is Ethan Dagruze out for the third week? What's the
excuse this time?

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Well, this is this is just really really hard to explain.
He so, this is the fourth tester of five on
this Northern tour. He hasn't set foot on the pitch yet.
He didn't play against Japan or England or ether than
now France. He might get a game against Italy next week.
No one seems to know what it was that got
him dropped in the first place. I get the feeling
that he's been dropped and that just basically saying well

(02:28):
to mighty Williams has to play his way out of
the team now and he hasn't been reasonably.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
It's he wasn't dropped for form. He was dropped for
conduct at the start, right, So is this an ongoing
punishment for conduct or is this now a form thing?

Speaker 2 (02:42):
He hasn't got any form, that's the thing. He hasn't played.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
So it's so I think what you're saying is to
mighty Williams hasn't played badly enough to be dropped. Therefore
Ethan de Greek just has to wait. He has to wait,
wait and bide his time. You're right, the first one
was in discretion. Beyond that, he just hasn't found a
way back into the team because he hasn't.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Yeah, yeah, you know, look, I don't know. Maybe Ethan
has the same thing as me when I'm sad, I
just need carbs and he's just gone and become a
fatty in the last three weeks.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
I don't look much as I like the like the concept,
I'm not sure that.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
It's probably unlikely Pioney to be fair. Thank god, we've
got you as a voice of reasons. Okay, Jason, listen,
Thank you appreciated. Have a good weekend. That's Jason Pined
host a Week in Sport.
